Theme Of Richard Bone
The subject matter of death isn t the theme of this poem. The poem prevails truth being disguised
and manipulated over documented history. This not only opens the mind into questioning whether
historical events truly happened the way historians say it did, or whether documentation can prove
a justification of truth, but it forces the second idea to raise questions whether any of the history
being told is true at all. The poem Richard Bone carries out this idea strongly. The reasonthis poem
plays an interest in my mind is that it synthesizes to current events happening every day in the real
worldin a variety of ways. The poem places the tactic of truth versus false and how reality plays
with this fundamental game with scenarios of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, because that person had already passed, he began to raise questions: whether those
people were really who they said they were. Richard Bone is prone to the idea that evil dominates
the goodness in the world, so why don t some of the tombstones describe the characteristics that
were strongly disliked of that certain individual? Only being described as a good person only
prevails that the truth is being hidden. After all, because the tombstone represents what the person
was, people paying for the chisels wanted to remember the goodness in the heart of that individual,
not that that person at some point in their lives betrayed them. Tombstones are a certain scar.
Richard Bone, tells up to be aware.
In the poem Richard Bone there a very few parts of the poem where it appeals to my senses.
However, there are a few, specifically the line that reads,
...made myself party to the false chronicles
Of the stones,
Without absolute hesitation, Richard Bone delights himself with the idea that he will always profit
from his job economically. He forces himself to think that the truth does not matter as long as he
has lived and he is successful. This second line proceeds to the figurative language device of a
hyperbole,
Without knowing the truth,
Or because he is influenced to hide it.
Here is displaying that because he is making money from his job of chiseling false labels onto
tombstones, the lies do not matter to him. He convinces

Flowers And The Magician By Rob Simpson
Flowers and the Magician By Rob Simpson
I wrote this book for my daughter when she was small and the perfect age for a fairy tale. Now she
is grown and too old for tales like this. Nevertheless, this book is for you. Dedicated to Darby
Suzanne Simpson with love on 11/30/1999.
Chapter 1 Once upon a time, there lived a girl named Florence. She was much like other girls in
her village, except for one thing. In the spring time, her hair grew beautiful flowers. Thus, she
received the nickname Flowers . Flowers was delighted when visitors from other lands started
visiting her to gather flowers off her head. They took them home and made great gardens out of
the flowers she gave them. Sometimes, a bird would swoop down and rest awhile on her head. It
didn t bother her, in fact she liked it. Eventually, as she grew older, Flowers did get tired of all
the attention. People were always stopping by her family cottage at the edge of the forest to get
flowers. She couldn t decide what to do. She loved providing the flowers to everyone. The
flowers from her hair lined the city streets and could be spotted in almost every yard. She longed
to have a normal life, like the other girls her age. She was sure that no gentleman would ever call
on her with her hair being the way that it was. One day, she decided to ask her father what he
thought she should do. He listened to her problem, rubbing

How Did The Norman Invasion Affect The English Language
Toward the close of the Old English period, an event occurred that had the greatest, longer lasting
effect on the English language than any other in history. This event was the Norman Conquest of
1066. The historic victory of William, the Duke of Normandy (hereafter known as William the
Conqueror), at the Battle of Hastings in 1066 proved to be the significant catalyst for the English
people. This is most notably evidenced by the cultural, religious and literary developments in the
years following the Norman Invasion. Before the conquest of England, the language of the country
was what was called Old English or pidgin English. This French/Norman invasion changed Britain s
Anglo Saxon culture and language to one that was more akin to what existed in mainland Europe at
the time. Additionally, the invasion shaped the English language irrevocably; the new French
incursion pushed Old English in the direction of Middle English, a variety more closely resembling
what is spoken today. This change in governance reformed nearly everything else in the country,
especially literature. After the Normans settled in Britain, Latin and French were the only
recognized languages in the Norman court. This resulted in the English language being largely
ignored in literature for nearly one hundred and fifty years. During the next two centuries, after the
classical influence of French and Latin, English literature had been immensely impacted and
enriched. When the English language

The Workplace Of The Civil Rights Act
2) a. In the workplace everyone should have equal opportunity to advance in their line of work.
Employers should not discriminate anyone who tries for the job. In this case, the veteran wants to
apply for a supervisory position. With the details about him suffering from back pain do to his
Vietnam conflict experiences, employers most likely would not promote him. However, under the
Americans with Disabilities Act, employers are not allowed to discriminate anyone based on a
disability. So in this case, employers have to see past the disability and focus on his credentials and
skills.
b. One law that can benefit this woman against the off color jokes sprouted by her co workers is
Title VII of the Civil Rights Act. This act forbids the discriminationbased on race, age, sex, color,
or national origin. The co workers who tell the jokes are violating this rule because they are causing
the woman to feel uncomfortable.
c. In businesses, the employers need to hire the best employees for the job. These employees are
found through their credentials and skills, or at least they should be. If companies choose people
based on color, race, sex, national origin, etc.; the company is violating the Equal Employment
Opportunity Commission and Title VII of the Civil Rights Act. Both these prohibit the
discrimination of color, race, sex, national origin, etc. If the company can demonstrate that they
chose their people based on skill, then that is fine. However, if they did discriminate based

Hillary Clinton Immigration Essay
Immigration A main issue between the two candidates in this presidential election is immigration.
Hillary Clinton has her own views of what she will do to improve immigration in the United States.
As explained, Hillary will introduce the comprehensive immigration reform with a pathway to full
and equal citizenship.
She also wants to end the three and 10 year bars which penalizes illegal immigrants from
returning to the U.S. after leaving the country. Hillary has also said she will defend President
Obama s executive actions, known as DACA and DAPA. DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood

Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump have completely opposite views on this issue. Hillary Clinton
wants to keep the rules on the National Security Agency. In other words, she wants to continue to
keep restrictions on the NSA by not letting them collect all phone data collection from the people in
the United States. Instead of the NSA retaining all of the data, phone companies will retain them.
When the NSA wants to collect any phone data about any individual, they are allowed to under
the consent of the federal court. This act that limits the NSA on the data that they are allowed to
collect is called the Patriot Act. In opposing views, Donald Trump wants to change the agreement
of what the NSA is allowed to do. Instead of keeping the restrictions on the NSA surveillance,
Donald wants to reduce the current limits on the NSA. As he has said, he supports reauthorizing
the patriot act. The way he looks to reduce the limits on the NSA is that the NSA would not have
to go to the federal court in order to retain any sort of phone record or data. Donald feels that the
NSA should not have restrictions on retaining phone data of the American people because of all the
threatening attacks that have gone through the phones. He wants to make sure that the United
States becomes more secure in the sense that the NSA can look at any individual s phone

Meiji Reforms Essay
Evaluate the success of the Meiji Reforms in undertaking imperialism in Asia. The Meiji reforms
were significantly successful in undertaking imperialism in Asia. Imperialism can be understood as
expanding a country s power through increasing one s influence, gaining more territory and
controlling the region s economy. For japan to undertake imperialism in Asia they needed to
establish a centralised government, a strong military, a technologically advanced and unified nation
working together for the same goal. They achieved this by introducing the Meji reforms. From
1868 to 1912, Japan grew from a technologically backwards nation to a world power, defeating both
China and Russia swiftly and decisively. In addition to this, Japan had succeeded in establishing a
parliament, drafting a constitution, developed a strong legal, financial and economic system,
created a strong industry and improved social welfare and education standards. These improvements
and implementations made Japan internationally recognised and respected as a modernised country.
Looking back, we can identify numerous reasons that led to the success of undertaking imperialism
in Asia through the use of the Meiji reforms. The military reform had a significant role in
undertaking imperialism in Asia. The military reform of Meiji Japan was focused on establishing a
powerful and unified national military under the ultimate leadership of the emperor. To achieve
this, the Meiji government created equality among

Lord Of The Flies Ego Superego Analysis
In every human being, a constant battle is occurring between two very diverse consciences.
William Golding portrayed this battle through his novel, Lord of the Flies, and with Sigmund
Freud s psychoanalysis theories of ID, Ego, and Superego. ID usually delineates the avarice and
guile side of the soul. Superego, however, represents the euphonious and benign voice of the soul.
The Ego is a balance of the two and is gullible to the forces of both voices. Golding uses these three
forces to show that without the pureness of the conscience, human spiritis innately evil and
corruptible. Thus, Golding uses Freud s ID, Ego, and Superego to demonstrate the overall theme of
the flexibility of the human spirit towards evil through Jack s recklessness, Ralph s senseof balance,
and Simon s cherubic attitude.
The character of Jack symbolizes the ID side of the soul because of his recklessness through his
obsession with hunting and fun on the island. His obsession started when he felt the power from
killing his first pig, He noticed blood on his hands and grimaced distastefully, looked for
something on which to clean them, then wiped them on his shorts and laughed ... We ll go
hunting every day (Golding 69/70). This quote shows that when the ID receives power, it will
take full advantage of it and will enjoy it, just like Jack did when he saw the blood from the pig.
This quote also shows that how the ID treats everything as a game and something to laugh at, which
is exactly what Jack

How has Amy Heckerling used film techniques to portray the transformation of Cher in her film,

In the hit film of 1995 Clueless, director Amy Heckerling effectively uses film techniques to further
portray the deep meaning of the story. The film tells the story of a selfish teenage girl who

depicted as a narrow minded, extravagant teenager. Heckerling uses vivid colour and extremity to

Being one of America s most recognised film directors, Amy Heckerlingused clever film
techniques to show the character of the main protagonist, Cher Horowitz. Throughout the
beginning of the film, Cher is dressed in brightly coloured designer clothes which make her
stand out from the rest of the characters; dressed in bland, dark coloured simple clothing. This
technique perfectly showed how different Cher was to other people; Cher thought she was a
typical teenager and this is contradicted using this technique in the film. Also, Cher s life is
shown to the public as being perfect ; she lives in a mansion, drives an expensive Jeep, wears
designer clothes and is popular. In Clueless, the director has put an emphasis on the mise en

show her peculiarity. In one scene, when Cher s father, Mel, has clients working at his house

Their Eyes Were Watching God Summary
Review of Their Eyes Were Watching God by Zora Neale Hurston

real and fulfilling love and freedom. The story begins when her grandmother, Nanny, catches her
kissing a boy she doesn t approve of. Nanny is a former slave who is raising Janie because her

Hiroshima Bombing Critique
Despite having our eyes wide open, we failed to actually see the world. Susan Neiman s article
caught me completely off guard. Even as someone who grew up outside of the United States, I
was taught educated by my teachers that the Atomic bombs, which exploded in Hiroshima and
Nagasaki, were the most crucial elements that led to the surrender of Japan during World War II.
Many US historians also argued that the bomb not only hasten hastens the end of the war, but also
saved almost a million American soldiers who could have died if the war was to continue.
However, Neiman pointed out sharply in her article that the US did not drop the (atomic) bomb in
order to end the war or save lives. (Neiman, 12) Through unclassified historical evidence,... Show

However, this is a logic logical fallacy that confuses our understanding in my opinion. First,
there is a fundamental basic difference between the Japanese government and the ordinary
citizens of Hiroshima. It is true to say that the emperor of Japan declared war and the Japanese
troops invaded several countries, but should primary school children who had just began
grasping the world be held accountable for their government s mistakes? How are the innocent
schoolgirls, the uninvolved foreign priests and the Japanese antiwar fighters different from the
Jews? Second, even if we consider the concept of total war, which sees seeks no difference
between civilians and soldiers during war time, discrediting Japanese citizens through
comparison with Jews remains problematic. (Heresy, 90) To illustrate, a drunk driver should be
held accountable for killing no matter who his car hit whether if it an old man or a kidnapper.
The meaning of the perpetrator s action does not change vary due to the victim s identity.
Similarly, just because the Japanese started the war doesn t make the bombing of Hiroshima a
virtuous action. Hence, the US government s constant unremitting emphasis on the difference
between Jews and Japanese is not an act of promoting Jewish interest. It is a slow yet effective
process that seeks to deceive the general population through distortion of our moral vision. As we
constantly focus on the straight forward evils like the case of the Holocaust, we fail to recognise
the more complicated version of evil which dominated the US foreign policy for the past 50 years.
(Neiman, 23) Meanwhile the US interests are well served through promoting the picture of simple
evil, the great lost lies in the ignorance of the general

Money How The Destruction Of The Dollar Threatens The...
Throughout time, gold has preserved its value better than any other precious material (Forbes and
Ames 131). Even with that known there are still arguments against the gold standard. A few of
those arguments are; there isn t enough gold on earth for a gold standard, gold will tie a
governments hands and prevent growth, or how gold shows too much price volatility to be a
reliable anchor, but the 21st century gold standardchallenges the validity of those arguments. In
Steve Forbes and Elizabeth Ames book, Money: How the Destruction of the Dollar Threatens the
Global Economy and What We Can Do About It, they do a wonderful job describing the biggest
fears people have if the United States returns to a gold standard (Forbes and Ames 155). The
first concern is that there isn t enough gold in the world to have a gold standard today. Based on
today s global economy, including the U.S monetary base, that is correct but doesn t much
matter. Having a piece of gold for every dollar on earth is a general misconception. Gold doesn t
have to be based on the global supply. It must be used as a stable yard stick of value (147). Lack of
knowledge of gold backed currency is the reason people are so afraid. There are plenty of
countries that don t have an ounce of gold. As long as gold is used as a measurement tool, those
countries can tie their currency to the U.S. dollar, which is then tied to gold. In fact, not any
country to this day has ever had 100% of its money backed by gold. This

The Three Forms Of Play That Occur During The First Two...
Child s Play:
The First Two Years of Life
In the first two years of life play is both a reflection of and an influence on all areas of infant
development: intellectual, social, emotional and physical. Play is a central, all encompassing
characteristic of infant development, allowing children to learn about the world and themselves.
Even during the first half year of life infant s really do play, even though the interpretation of what
is play and what is exploration must first be established. The focus of this paper is to discuss
three forms of play that occur during the first two years of life. The work of Jean Piaget and other
psychologists in supporting and developing these ideas is critical. The first of these is sensorimotor

The first of these stages is primary circular reaction: When a baby accidentally discovers an
interesting sensory or motor experience related to its own body, and then continues to repeat it.
This type of behavior is typically seen between one to four months. This is evident through a
description of Piaget s own eight week old son Laurent scratches and tries to grasp, lets go,
scratches and grasps again, etc... Laurent scratches the sheet which is folded over the blankets, then
grasps and holds it for a moment, then lets it go, scratches it again, and recommences without
interruption (Piaget, 1963, p.191).
Laurent seems to be fascinated by the actions of grasping, scratching and letting go of the object
and shows little attention for the actual object he does it to. There is no actual attraction to the
object since Laurent would likely react to any object in a similar fashion as long as it was put
directly in front of him. Put a rattle in front of a three month old baby and the child will play with
it by shaking, chewing, or looking at it (Hughes, 1991).
The second stage is secondary circular reaction, and it appears at about four months. This stage is
similar to the first, except now the child enjoys the pleasing effects that their actions make in the
external world, and continue to repeat it. Piaget describes the actions of his son

Lethal Injection Methods
On March 23, 2015, firing squad was reauthorized in Utah as a viable method of execution if,
and only if the state was unable to obtain the drugs necessary to carry out a lethal injection

Speaking of sex : the denial of gender inequality
By Rhode, Deborah L
Publication: 1999
Speaking of Sex by the author Deborah L. Rhode, the title itself of the book attracts your curiosity.
She skillfully hints at the real material of the book by providing her readers with an appealing title
with a subtitle of, The Denial of Gender Inequality. The idea of Speaking of Sexchallenges the
audience to look further or explore the problems associated with gender inequality. The author
follows a mere systematic pattern, she begins by presenting society s constant denial regarding
gender inequality growth, in spite of the progress made lately in social, legal and regarding public
policy settings. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By the acknowledgment that considerably much has changed during the past twenty years,
Rhodes states how the issue behind no problem problem is the denial of gender inequality that is
still persistent and growing. Rhode s writing made me realize my denial regarding this issue and
how this denial is continuing to disadvantage women in society as a whole. The author
emphasizes on three basic patterns of denial, the first denial Rhodes states is the denial of gender
inequality, which is composed of the allowance of individuals as myself to ignore or not succeed
to identify or recognize the extent in which women still suffer from discrimination against. The
second denial is the denial of injustice which stands for the manifestation of the way in general
people rationalize women s inequality by blaming the women for the choices they make and their
own capabilities. Last but not least, the third denial is the denial of responsibility which stands for
the beliefs that as individuals we look upon the issue as not personally involved in the problem
women face, or the fact that we are not responsible somehow for contributing to finding a

How Youths Are Deemed As The Perpetrators Of Today s...
When the words youth and young people come up there are different connotations that come
along with it, some people may feel very positive towards the youth of today. However, some
people feel the complete opposite and have negative views altogether. In some cases, people
believe they have Ephebiphobia which is a fear of youngpeople, with 1.5 million Britons
considering to move houses last year and about 1.7 million people not going out after dark to avoid
youngsters (Lewis, 2016). Researchers are fearing that the public are alienating the youthand A rise
in social Paedophobia will simply make matters worse Nick Pierce the IPPR (Institute for Public
Policy Research). In this essay I will be discussing how youths are deemed as the perpetrators in
today s society and how this theory came about. Furthermore, discussing how young people are
also vulnerable to being victims as well, but are also under protected. Adding to that I will discuss
the UK s policing structure such as stop and search and taking young people into custody and
whether it has been successful for the past years in England and Wales or not.
So what defines youth or a young person? criminologists for years have attempted to find a
definition for youth. However, criminologist John Muncie has summed it up well: An ill defined
and variable period of the life span between infancy and adulthood. (Davies, Francis, and Greer,
2007). Although this is a definition people still don t quite understand what

Celsus Critique Of Christianity
Christianity, or religion in general, has come under immense amounts of criticism. Especially in
modern times where science has been growing beyond our imagination, and, now, individuals might
downplay the relevance of religion. However, even thousands of years ago Christianity was met
with criticism. One of the notable critics, and focus of this paper, was Celsus. He was A
philosopher during the second century, had his writings complied into The True Word that housed
his critiques on Christianity. From these critiques, it is possible to identify the characteristics
Celsus might identity with a true religion. Moreover, the second focus of paper is Mark s gospel,
more specifically, Jesus. Having read Mark s gospel, would his depiction of Jesus and his
movement be considered valid in the eyes of Celsus? In this paper, I will argue that the
depiction of Jesus and the Jesus movement in Mark s Gospel would not be considered a true
religion due to the fact it conflates with many of Celsus s criticisms of Christianity. Before
delving into the reason why Mark s depiction of Jesus would not meet Celsus s criteria for a true
religion, it is important to first identify what exactly Celsus might believe is a true religion. The
first critique that is offered by Celsus is the secrecy of Christians. He wrote, Christians entered into
secret associations with each other contrary to law (Celsus 1.1). Celsus condemned the Christians
for gathering in secret in order to practice, and

What Are The Fixed Costs Associated With Operating An...
After reading Chapter 8 in the text and viewing the Fixed, Variable, and Marginal Cost the video,
address the following in your initial post:
First, describe several different fixed costs and variable costs associated with operating an
automobile.
From viewing the Fixed, Variable and Marginal Costvideo, the several fixed costs associated with
operating an automobile is interest on the bank or car notes, payment loans, insurance, taxes,
license, registration, and depreciation. Seeing that fixed costs are defined by our textbook as
short run expenses that will remain constant and cannot be avoided or changed in the short run
(Amacher Pate (2013)). In this case, an owner of operating an automobile in effect will become
subject to fixed costs anyway to parking its vehicle in their garage or never drives the vehicle.
Furthermore, the several variable costs associated with operating an automobile is the gasoline
costs, maintenance costs, and depreciation. Given that in our textbook, variable costs are will
increase as more output is produced due to additional variable inputs being required as
production increases (Amacher Pate (2013)). In other words, an owner will change the care of
operating an automobile based on how much driving or not driving the vehicle over time. Overall,
an owner of operating an automobile will be faced with several different fixed costs and variable on
a regular.

Regulating Genetic Engineering
Genetic engineering is the scientific process of adding or removing certain genetic material
from an embryo so it will develop specific characteristics (Silver 129). Genetic modification
allows for the prevention of genetic disorders as well as the development of better
pharmaceutical drugs that can give people longer and healthier lives. Despite these positive uses
of genetic modification many people are wary of its practicality and ethics. However, the present
genetic engineering has not advanced enough to be feasible on human embryos and has only been
used on various crops and animals. As science continues to move forward and new developments

Dear Professor Csikszentmihalyi,
This letter is talking about what I learned from your book, my flow experiences and what are
elements of flow in my opinion. But before that I would like to share a old Chinese fairy tale
with you. 1800 years ago in Jin dynasty of China, there was a farmer who s name is Wangzhi.
One day he went out to cut firewood in hills, he saw there are an old man and a child playing the
GO (a Chinese game) in pavilion. So he left his axe on a stump and watched them playing. He
was so focus on the game that he totally forgot the time. After a long time, the child told him that
as it is so late you had better go home. Then Wangzhi pick up his axe and start to go home. He
was so surprised that his axe handle was rotted and mold. When he backed home his neighbor
told him he had already went out more than 10 years. Of cause fairy tales are not always true
story and also may sound like an exaggeration. But in this fairy tale we can know that Chinese
people realize that people have flow experience hundreds years ago.
In this semester we have been discussing about Optimal Experience and what is Flow and how to
achieve it in class. I learned that you named the psychological concept of flow, a highly focused
mental state. In your seminal work, Flow: The Psychology of Optimal Experience, you outline
your theory that people are happiest when they are in a state of flow a state of concentration or

Power And Control Within The Novel Wild Geese
In Martha Ostenso s Wild Geese, there are many issues surrounding power and control throughout
the novel. Many of these issues are because of the main character Caleb, and the control he holds
over many other characters. There are three main issues associated with power and control in the
novel: The powerCaleb holds creates fearand hatred for him from other characters in the novel. The
power he holds also causes his children to dream about things in another life and become rebellious
against Caleb s wishes. Finally, Caleb s control and power ruins him as a character and he suffers
from nemeses. These issues surrounding power and control are important to characterization, plot
development, and the relationships and conflicts between characters.
The first issue related to power and control in Wild Geese is the fear and hatred many characters
have for Caleb because of his need to have authority throughout the novel. An example of fear for
Caleb is the fear Amelia has for her husband. Amelia is scared of Caleb and what he will do to
her if she challenges his power over her. Amelia was justified in fearing Caleb if he held any
damaging knowledge about her (117). This shows that Caleb has control over Amelia, and the
characters in the novel know that he will not hesitate to ruin someone s life if he feels he needs to,
no matter what the relationship is he has with them. Amelia is also the one that has the power over
the children. Throughout Wild Geese she is the one that

Comparing The Gospel Of Wealth And Social Darwinism
Social Darwinism and the Gospel of Wealth were concepts developed to provide reasons for the
wealthy class created by capitalism through two distinct ways; Social Darwinism applied Charles
Darwin s theories of natural selection in the marketplace and those naturally selected to control it.
On the other hand, the Gospel of Wealth was more critical and impacting on its effects, as it used
religion to justify the wealth accumulated by those that were selected by God. The Gospel of
Wealth was more successful because of it emphasized philanthropic works and it was based on
common man s ideals that ruled protestant thoughts. By contrast, Social Darwinism was a newly

Light enters one end of the fiber from a light bulb, laser, or some other source, and travels
essentially unimpeded all the way to the length of the fiber where it is intercepted by a
photosensitive detector such as an electronic device or even the human eye. The distance of
travel varies according to the use to anywhere from just a few inches to over one hundred and

fifty miles almost instantaneously. While it takes five hours to transmit the contents of an
encyclopedia over copper wires, the entire work can be transmitted in less than a minute over
fiber optics (Yawn PG). Single Mode/Multi Mode Fibers referred to as single mode are most
often used for the longer distance transmissions. Multi mode fibers are used in applications
requiring less distance. They are less expensive than single mode fibers and accept light from a
larger variety of sources and from different angles. Single mode fibers are smaller in diameter

The death star was only in the book for a few chapters, but it made one of the biggest impacts in
the story because the empire wanted to show off its new power to the rebels so they destroyed
the planet they believed the rebels were hiding on. The death star destroyed the entire planet
along with everyone on it with its new cannon, it hurt so many people even some who are part of
the galactic empire like Nash Windrider because he had to witness his home planet and all of his
family get destroyed right in front of him. Another thing that it impacted was Thane because seeing
that made him realize that what they are doing is wrong so he ended up abandoning his post and
escaping from the clutches of the empire.
Darth Vaderis one of the leaders of the galactic empire he was the deciding factor when he had
the Death Star destroy Tatooine. The Storm troopers and Darth Vader found and captured
Princess Leia who is a leader of the rebel alliance and the Princess of Tatooine. Darth Vader s
name is Anakin Skywalker, he was originally a jedi and he eventually turned evil and became an
apprentice of Emperor Palpatine and was given the name Darth

Millennium Development Goals
Why Millennium Development Goals Are Essential to Our Nation We live in a world that is
dangerously out of balance. There are 1.1 billion people living on less than one dollar a day, an
additional 1.7 billion people living on less than 2 dollars a day, more than 115 million children
uneducated, and over 40 million people are HIV positive. These numbers show that there is great
misery and unnecessary death in our world and that billions of people have little opportunity to lead
a decent life and fully use their potential to develop as human beings. For the first time in human
history there is an extremely powerful consensus in which the global community is attempting to
work together in the hopes of ensuring that all people, everywhere,... Show more content on

Leadership in Support of MDGs: Promoting National Security The Millennium Development Goals
represent a commitment by all nations and institutions to eliminate global poverty. The MDGs need
to be emphasized and implemented at all stages and their success is highly dependent on
financing the project. The UN Millennium Project is centered on the belief that .7 percent of
rich countries GNP can provide enough resources to meet the goals. If every developed country
followed through with a timetable to reach the necessary target by 2015, the world could make
dramatic progress in the fight against extreme poverty. At the Monterrey Consensus a statement
was made by the United States: we urge developed countries that have not done so to make
concrete efforts towards the target of .7 percent of GNPВ… (Sachs 338). This statement shows
that the US is beginning to take leadership in the efforts to meet the MDGs; however, it seems
that we are pointing fingers and not taking the proper action ourselves. In 2004 our government
only provided .14 percent of the GNP, which is well below the target. The leadership of the United
States has much importance because without public and political support for the development
goals, we are not only risking the lives of innocent people but we are also diminishing our national
security and personal

Chile, Indonesia, And Turkey
Mint countries refer to Mexico, Indonesia, Nigeria and Turkey, which are economies that are
gaining considerable investment interest given their potential for substantial economic growth.
The features which these countries share are a fairly large population, which is considered to be
young and growing and in addition a prime geographic location to capitalise upon nearby global
markets. These features are distinctive against the developed markets and certain BRIC
economies which are considered to have an ageing population which is drawing away from their
growth potential. According to GDP figures, based on PPP valuation, the growth rates for the
MINT economies across 2013 and 2014 have averaged at 5.70%. This is significant given that
over the same time horizon the BRIC economies, considered the pinnacle of emerging market
growth, experienced a rate of 3.39%. This was relatively lower in comparison eluding towards a
shift in the investment potential from BRIC towards Mint Economies. In addition it is worth
considering that emerging economies having been attracting increasingly more Foreign Direct
Investment (FDI) having accounted for 52% of global FDI inflows according to recent data.
Looking closer at the FDI spread based on regional allocation it is worth noting that Nigeria
received the greatest proportion of FDI in Africa, Indonesia in South Eastern Asia, Mexico in
Central America and Turkey in West Asia. This demonstrates the investment potential within the

Stephanie Guttenplan Influence
No doubt, we all have wondered what inspires an artist. When looking at their paintings or
drawings, we often put aside the emotions and inspirations to pieces, simply because that
information isn t given. Because everyone has their own unique way to express themselves, it
makes us wonder. Whether it is a drawing, a musical work or an invention of some sort, each piece
has a connection and emotional tie. These emotions translate into the quality of the work.
Mentioning that showing work to others, whether it is a song or poem, can significantly improve it.
Sometimes other people may see mistakes that the artist may not have through their cloud of
emotional attachment. Stephanie Guttenplan is no different; she describes her work as a visual

Pro War in Iraq Essay
Pro War in Iraq
I do not subscribe to the fashionable notion of moral equivalence between all deeply held
beliefs. I believe in the rights of the individual over the collective. I believe democracy is better
than dictatorship, both morally and practically. Not necessarily democracy as we or the
Americans or the French practice it, but the idea that in every possible practical way, you should
let people make their own decisions, and if these decisions need to be circumscribed in any way,
then you should only do it with the explicit approval of a majority of the people in question. And
above all that a people must be able to change governments and leaders without resorting to force.
So my ongoing position is that I am not comfortable ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The damning picture of the state of the Arab world painted in this UN report cannot be blamed on
America, or Israel, or global capitalism. The blame lies squarely with the dictators under whom
the Arab people have suffered, who have over a long period stolen and squandered the region s
wealth, just as Communist apparatchiks did under the Soviet system. How do they get away
with it? Why do the people themselves not rise up? The aspect dictatorship which gets most
attention is the brutal suppression of domestic dissent, for which you need to take over the
organs of internal security. But you cannot just plant yourself as a dictatorship and suck the
wealth out of a country or a people. Dictatorship too is an eco system. You need a way of
legitimizing your rule in the minds of a section of the population, and someone to blame for all of
the evils for which evidence emerges. Once you have these things, you are in business with a nice,
self sustaining little earner. Other dictators tap into other vulnerable beliefs among their people to
give them a veil of credibility. It might be nationalism, anti Semitism, feelings of angst and
inadequacy. In the case of most Arab dictators, it happens to be Islam. Islam contains a number of
features that can be easily hijacked by unscrupulous leaders: the disrespect for non believers, the
basis for non independent religious courts, the concept of jihad, and the belief in the afterlife.

This not only opens the mind into questioning whether historical events truly happened the way historians say it did, or whether documentation can prove a justification of truth, but it forces the second idea to raise questions whether any of the history being told is true at all. The poem Richard Bone carries out this idea strongly. The reasonthis poem plays an interest in my mind is that it synthesizes to current events happening every day in the real worldin a variety of ways. The poem places the tactic of truth versus false and how reality plays with this fundamental game with scenarios of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, because that person had already passed, he began to raise questions: whether those people were really who they said they were. Richard Bone is prone to the idea that evil dominates the goodness in the world, so why don t some of the tombstones describe the characteristics that were strongly disliked of that certain individual? Only being described as a good person only prevails that the truth is being hidden. After all, because the tombstone represents what the person was, people paying for the chisels wanted to remember the goodness in the heart of that individual, not that that person at some point in their lives betrayed them. Tombstones are a certain scar. Richard Bone, tells up to be aware. In the poem Richard Bone there a very few parts of the poem where it appeals to my senses. However, there are a few, specifically the line that reads, ...made myself party to the false chronicles Of the stones, Without absolute hesitation, Richard Bone delights himself with the idea that he will always profit from his job economically. He forces himself to think that the truth does not matter as long as he has lived and he is successful. This second line proceeds to the figurative language device of a hyperbole, Without knowing the truth, Or because he is influenced to hide it. Here is displaying that because he is making money from his job of chiseling false labels onto tombstones, the lies do not matter to him. He convinces ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Business Plan For A Restaurant And Bar Chain Business Here i would like to open a restaurant and bar chain business so here is the following business plan 1 Executive Summary The Executive Summary is the most important part of your business plan. Because if it doesn t interest readers, they ll never even get to the rest of your plan. Start your Executive Summary with a brief and concise explanation of what your company does. Next, explain why your company is uniquely qualified to succeed. For example, does your management team have unique competencies? Do you have any patents? Are you the first mover in your market? Does a huge, unmet market opportunity exist? Etc. 2 Company Overview The Company Overview section provides a brief history of your company. Here you will answer questions such as when and how your organization was formed, what type of legal entity you are, and accomplishments to date. Importantly, your past accomplishments are perhaps the best indicator of potential future success, so be sure to identify and include all key milestones your company has achieved to date. 3 Market Overview The Market Overview section discusses the size and characteristics of your market. For example, if you are a restaurant, you would include the size of the restaurant market, a brief discussion of sectors (e.g., fast food versus fine dining) and market trends. 4 Relevant Market Size

  • 7. Flowers And The Magician By Rob Simpson Flowers and the Magician By Rob Simpson I wrote this book for my daughter when she was small and the perfect age for a fairy tale. Now she is grown and too old for tales like this. Nevertheless, this book is for you. Dedicated to Darby Suzanne Simpson with love on 11/30/1999. Chapter 1 Once upon a time, there lived a girl named Florence. She was much like other girls in her village, except for one thing. In the spring time, her hair grew beautiful flowers. Thus, she received the nickname Flowers . Flowers was delighted when visitors from other lands started visiting her to gather flowers off her head. They took them home and made great gardens out of the flowers she gave them. Sometimes, a bird would swoop down and rest awhile on her head. It didn t bother her, in fact she liked it. Eventually, as she grew older, Flowers did get tired of all the attention. People were always stopping by her family cottage at the edge of the forest to get flowers. She couldn t decide what to do. She loved providing the flowers to everyone. The flowers from her hair lined the city streets and could be spotted in almost every yard. She longed to have a normal life, like the other girls her age. She was sure that no gentleman would ever call on her with her hair being the way that it was. One day, she decided to ask her father what he thought she should do. He listened to her problem, rubbing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It is soft, comfortable, hypoallergenic and naturally absorbent; and has greater wet strength than dry. • 9. How Did The Norman Invasion Affect The English Language Toward the close of the Old English period, an event occurred that had the greatest, longer lasting effect on the English language than any other in history. This event was the Norman Conquest of 1066. The historic victory of William, the Duke of Normandy (hereafter known as William the Conqueror), at the Battle of Hastings in 1066 proved to be the significant catalyst for the English people. This is most notably evidenced by the cultural, religious and literary developments in the years following the Norman Invasion. Before the conquest of England, the language of the country was what was called Old English or pidgin English. This French/Norman invasion changed Britain s Anglo Saxon culture and language to one that was more akin to what existed in mainland Europe at the time. Additionally, the invasion shaped the English language irrevocably; the new French incursion pushed Old English in the direction of Middle English, a variety more closely resembling what is spoken today. This change in governance reformed nearly everything else in the country, especially literature. After the Normans settled in Britain, Latin and French were the only recognized languages in the Norman court. This resulted in the English language being largely ignored in literature for nearly one hundred and fifty years. During the next two centuries, after the classical influence of French and Latin, English literature had been immensely impacted and enriched. When the English language ... • 13. Meiji Reforms Essay Evaluate the success of the Meiji Reforms in undertaking imperialism in Asia. The Meiji reforms were significantly successful in undertaking imperialism in Asia. Imperialism can be understood as expanding a country s power through increasing one s influence, gaining more territory and controlling the region s economy. For japan to undertake imperialism in Asia they needed to establish a centralised government, a strong military, a technologically advanced and unified nation working together for the same goal. They achieved this by introducing the Meji reforms. From 1868 to 1912, Japan grew from a technologically backwards nation to a world power, defeating both China and Russia swiftly and decisively. In addition to this, Japan had succeeded in establishing a parliament, drafting a constitution, developed a strong legal, financial and economic system, created a strong industry and improved social welfare and education standards. These improvements and implementations made Japan internationally recognised and respected as a modernised country. • 14. Lord Of The Flies Ego Superego Analysis In every human being, a constant battle is occurring between two very diverse consciences. William Golding portrayed this battle through his novel, Lord of the Flies, and with Sigmund Freud s psychoanalysis theories of ID, Ego, and Superego. ID usually delineates the avarice and guile side of the soul. Superego, however, represents the euphonious and benign voice of the soul. The Ego is a balance of the two and is gullible to the forces of both voices. Golding uses these three forces to show that without the pureness of the conscience, human spiritis innately evil and corruptible. Thus, Golding uses Freud s ID, Ego, and Superego to demonstrate the overall theme of the flexibility of the human spirit towards evil through Jack s recklessness, Ralph s senseof balance, and Simon s cherubic attitude. The character of Jack symbolizes the ID side of the soul because of his recklessness through his obsession with hunting and fun on the island. His obsession started when he felt the power from killing his first pig, He noticed blood on his hands and grimaced distastefully, looked for something on which to clean them, then wiped them on his shorts and laughed ... We ll go hunting every day (Golding 69/70). Even as someone who grew up outside of the United States, I was taught educated by my teachers that the Atomic bombs, which exploded in Hiroshima and Nagasaki, were the most crucial elements that led to the surrender of Japan during World War II. Many US historians also argued that the bomb not only hasten hastens the end of the war, but also saved almost a million American soldiers who could have died if the war was to continue. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, this is a logic logical fallacy that confuses our understanding in my opinion. First, there is a fundamental basic difference between the Japanese government and the ordinary citizens of Hiroshima. It is true to say that the emperor of Japan declared war and the Japanese troops invaded several countries, but should primary school children who had just began grasping the world be held accountable for their government s mistakes? How are the innocent schoolgirls, the uninvolved foreign priests and the Japanese antiwar fighters different from the Jews? Second, even if we consider the concept of total war, which sees seeks no difference between civilians and soldiers during war time, discrediting Japanese citizens through comparison with Jews remains problematic. (Heresy, 90) To illustrate, a drunk driver should be held accountable for killing no matter who his car hit whether if it an old man or a kidnapper. The meaning of the perpetrator s action does not change vary due to the victim s identity. Similarly, just because the Japanese started the war doesn t make the bombing of Hiroshima a virtuous action. Hence, the US government s constant unremitting emphasis on the difference between Jews and Japanese is not an act of promoting Jewish interest. It is a slow yet effective process that seeks to deceive the general population through distortion of our moral vision. As we constantly focus on the straight forward evils like the case of the Holocaust, we fail to recognise the more complicated version of evil which dominated the US foreign policy for the past 50 years. • 20. Money How The Destruction Of The Dollar Threatens The... Throughout time, gold has preserved its value better than any other precious material (Forbes and Ames 131). Even with that known there are still arguments against the gold standard. A few of those arguments are; there isn t enough gold on earth for a gold standard, gold will tie a governments hands and prevent growth, or how gold shows too much price volatility to be a reliable anchor, but the 21st century gold standardchallenges the validity of those arguments. In Steve Forbes and Elizabeth Ames book, Money: How the Destruction of the Dollar Threatens the Global Economy and What We Can Do About It, they do a wonderful job describing the biggest fears people have if the United States returns to a gold standard (Forbes and Ames 155). The first concern is that there isn t enough gold in the world to have a gold standard today. Based on today s global economy, including the U.S monetary base, that is correct but doesn t much matter. Having a piece of gold for every dollar on earth is a general misconception. Gold doesn t have to be based on the global supply. It must be used as a stable yard stick of value (147). Lack of knowledge of gold backed currency is the reason people are so afraid. There are plenty of countries that don t have an ounce of gold. As long as gold is used as a measurement tool, those countries can tie their currency to the U.S. dollar, which is then tied to gold. In fact, not any country to this day has ever had 100% of its money backed by gold. This ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Laurent scratches the sheet which is folded over the blankets, then grasps and holds it for a moment, then lets it go, scratches it again, and recommences without interruption (Piaget, 1963, p.191). Laurent seems to be fascinated by the actions of grasping, scratching and letting go of the object and shows little attention for the actual object he does it to. Before delving into the reason why Mark s depiction of Jesus would not meet Celsus s criteria for a true religion, it is important to first identify what exactly Celsus might believe is a true religion. But before that I would like to share a old Chinese fairy tale with you. 1800 years ago in Jin dynasty of China, there was a farmer who s name is Wangzhi. One day he went out to cut firewood in hills, he saw there are an old man and a child playing the GO (a Chinese game) in pavilion. So he left his axe on a stump and watched them playing. He was so focus on the game that he totally forgot the time. After a long time, the child told him that as it is so late you had better go home. Then Wangzhi pick up his axe and start to go home. He was so surprised that his axe handle was rotted and mold. When he backed home his neighbor told him he had already went out more than 10 years. Of cause fairy tales are not always true story and also may sound like an exaggeration. But in this fairy tale we can know that Chinese people realize that people have flow experience hundreds years ago. In this semester we have been discussing about Optimal Experience and what is Flow and how to achieve it in class. • 33. Power And Control Within The Novel Wild Geese In Martha Ostenso s Wild Geese, there are many issues surrounding power and control throughout the novel. Many of these issues are because of the main character Caleb, and the control he holds over many other characters. There are three main issues associated with power and control in the novel: The powerCaleb holds creates fearand hatred for him from other characters in the novel. The power he holds also causes his children to dream about things in another life and become rebellious against Caleb s wishes. Finally, Caleb s control and power ruins him as a character and he suffers from nemeses. These issues surrounding power and control are important to characterization, plot development, and the relationships and conflicts between characters. The first issue related to power and control in Wild Geese is the fear and hatred many characters have for Caleb because of his need to have authority throughout the novel. An example of fear for Caleb is the fear Amelia has for her husband. Amelia is scared of Caleb and what he will do to her if she challenges his power over her. Amelia was justified in fearing Caleb if he held any damaging knowledge about her (117). This shows that Caleb has control over Amelia, and the characters in the novel know that he will not hesitate to ruin someone s life if he feels he needs to, no matter what the relationship is he has with them. Amelia is also the one that has the power over the children. Throughout Wild Geese she is the one that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

How do they get away with it? Why do the people themselves not rise up? The aspect dictatorship which gets most attention is the brutal suppression of domestic dissent, for which you need to take over the organs of internal security.
