The Treatment Of Pregnant Women
When it comes to childbirth many women say it is the best experience they go through in life. But
women who are in prison say other wise. Being pregnant and locked up is one of the worse and
hardest experience in life for them. It is not because they are pregnant in prison but it is the treatment
they receive before and after the birth. Some of the women say they get great treatment but others say
the treatment is horrid.People in the real world are debating if the treatment of pregnant women in
prison is proper or if the treatment needs to be changed for the good or for the bad. For starters, 80%
of the women who are in prison is due to the usage of drugs . At least 66 percent of women in prison
have children, and that percentage ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The doctors have to see what drug they are on , but the main reason for the testing is to get see if the
women are pregnant or if they have any serious health issues. Once finding out the women are
pregnant the prison systems tell the ladies and schedule them a due date. This is good , but the bad
thing is they are put in the prison with every other women. One would think since they are pregnant
the prison system would separate them but no they do not. Pregnant women have to do every task the
other women do. Like cleaning and cooking. The women that are in the clean task might not realize
this but they are inhaling toxic chemicals. But this does not happen in every prison. For example there
is a prison in Ohio that separates the soon to be mothers from the other inmates. These soon to be
mothers are not in the same conditions as the other women. They are in bright colored rooms and they
read a lot to get ready for when their baby is born (Leone 12). There are only 5 other states in the
united states that have a program like in Ohio (Gormsen 14). Knowing there are only six states that
have this program, that means there are forty four states that have pregnant women working in
extreme conditions and possibly harming their child because of the prison system . Even though it is a
50 /50 chance if the prison the women attends is a good

Why Was Kamehameha Important In History
The prophecy said he would do many great feats, and that is what Kamehameha would do!
Kamehameha is significant to history because he was the King of Hawaii and did many great things
for Hawaii. He was prophesied to do so. He was significant for being the Hawaiian conqueror, the
king who united islands, and even founded the Kamehameha dynasty. He was also significant for
other challenges throughout his life. These are reasons why Kamehameha l is very significant to
history. To start off, Kamehameha l was prophesied to do many feats for Hawaii and wanted to and
even inherited being king after Kiwala o died. For example, in one of my sources it says, There were
reportedly many prophetic signs that he would be a great leader, including ... Show more content on

For example, Kamehameha the Great was the Hawaiian conqueror and king who united the Hawaiian
Islands and founded the Kamehameha dynasty. This evidence proves my statement. Another example
is, He eventually succeeded and went on to take over most the majority of nearby territories as well.
This evidence further shows that he was definitely a conqueror ..and by 1810, Kamehameha became
the first king to rule all the Hawaiian Islands. This evidence further shows that he was a king/ruler and
united and ruled all the islandsIn conclusion, Kamehameha did many achievements when becoming
the inherited ruler of Hawaii and it s islands. ThirdlyKamehameha was also significant in history
because of his challenges throughout his life and all the other extra things he did.During his reign, he
governed following kapu, an ancient system of rules and laws. This shows that not only did he conquer
places and people, he made sure citizens had fair laws. He also established new principles, including
mamalahoe kanawai, or law of the splintered paddle. This law, which protected the defenseless as well

Hezbollah vs Harakat Al-Muqawama Al-Islamia
Hezbollah vs. Harakat Al Muqawama Al Islamia
Terrorism is a problem that has been affecting our world since humans have been walking on this
planet. Whether it s dealing with suicide bombings, cyber warfare, Eco terrorism, or even nuclear
terrorism it is something that all countries have to deal with at some point. One of the main priorities
of the United States is to keep terrorist attacks from occurring in our country at all costs. When
looking at terrorists, two dangerous groups that will be discussed in this paper are the Hezbollah and
the Harakat Al Muqawama Al Islamia (Hamas). These two groups both have strong beliefs and seem
as though to go to any means possible to get their way and they will not stop until they get it. ... Show

This charity had supplied large funds to the families of suicide bombers. Receipts had been collected
by police and had found that they had totaled more than $4.0 million in donations that had been sent to
Hezbollah. Another hoopla that the Hezbollah had relied heavily on was television. The Al Manar
television station was an important part of Hezbollah s propaganda. This was also important for their
political stands, psychological warfare, and also was used as a money laundering technique. Also from
the study done by Martin Rudner, the Al Manar was said to acquire large contributions from
Hezbollah s own business cooperatives in Beirut, the Beqaa valley, and south Lebanon. Much of the
budget requirements are actually being covered by Hezbollah. In return, the Al Manar plays a huge
role in fundraising for this terrorist group. Television advertisements are run routinely on this station
resulting in large donations being sent in from many different communities. (Hezbollah: Between
Ideology and Political Pragmatism) Another reason the Hezbollah has remained a powerful terrorist
group is because of their large network growth. The reason for this large growth has a lot to do with
their recruitment process. Although the recruitment process is a tough aspect to gain insight on, there
is some official communication that the Hezbollah has released that is used to learn more about this
process. During the beginning stages of the

Racism And Structural Racism
A prevalent issue surrounding southern historic house museum interpretation today includes, an
acknowledgment of enslaved labor, but not the kind of engaged discussion that would help tourists
identify with that labor in affective ways (Modlin, Jr., Alderman, and Gentry 13). Some sites are
interpreting slavery well, other are not, and some choose not to interpret slavery at all. Sites like
President Lincoln s Cottage and the Octagon House in Washington D.C. vary in methods of
interpretation, but make the effort to establish slavery as a difficult historical truth in the United States.
Examining historic house sites reveal how the absence of comprehensive slavery interpretation
furthers structural racism in our society.
A textbook definition of structural racism would include the normalization and legitimization of an
array of dynamics historical, cultural, institutional and interpersonal that routinely advantage whites
(Lawrence and Keleher 1). Institutional stigmatization of a marginalized community involves the
reinforcing effects of...cultural norms, past and present, continually producing new, and re producing
old forms of racism (Lawrence and Keleher 1). Notable historian Michel Rolph Trouillot observed in
his book Silencing the Past, that U.S. slavery has both officially ended, yet continues in many
complex forms most notably institutionalized racism and the cultural denigration of blackness makes
its presentation particularly burdensome in the United

The Giant Panda and the Polar Bear
According to a reliable website The giant panda is a well known and well loved species that is being
driven to extinction by habitat loss. It has become one of the most endangered mammals in the world,
with only 1,600 of them left (Exploring nature education). Also According to another credible website
about polar bears, Polar bears might not be endangered but they are one category off of becoming
endangered, there are 20,000 25,000 left worldwide (animalpawnation). As you can see the Giant
panda is classified as endangered. There are only about 1,600 left in the world. 1,600 may be a lot but
surprisingly not to many scientists and researchers. On the other hand polar bears are classified as
threatened one step away from becoming endangered. There are only about 20,000 25,000 left
worldwide.Other than being endangered and threatened they also share many similar characteristics.
The giant panda and polar bear are both similar and different in their physical qualities, habitat, and
diet. As members of the mammal family, the giant panda and the polar bear share many of the same
physical characteristics. On the other hand their appearances set them apart from one another in many
ways. To start with pandas and polar bears are well alike and different in many ways. When being
born pandas are about 15 17 centimeters long. Polar bears on the other hand though are born about 30
35 centimeters long. Pandas over the time grow and are white with big black spots around their body.

Hitler Became Chancellor in January 1933 Because He Was...
Hitler s assumption of power on the 30th of January 1933 was seemingly due to the mass popularity of
the Nazi party. However it was far off achieving the 50% majority it needed to put Hitler
automatically in power. As well as popularity, backstairs intrigue and the short sightedness of those in
power enabled Hitler to become Chancellor. The weaknesses of Germany s political leadership were
fundamental to Hitler s success. In some senses the popularity of the party only provided an opening,
available for exploitation.
Undoubtedly, Nazi popularity placed pressure on government and on President Hindenburg to make
Hitler Chancellor. Their astonishing rise in votes since 810 000 in 1928 to 13.75 million in July 1932
was extraordinary. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Meeting with Kurt Von Schröder, Papen not only in turn helped solve the Nazi financial debts to
ensure the continuation of the party, but presented an opportunity to Hitler which he otherwise would
not have been offered. Papen convinced Hindenburg the Nazi support could be harnessed and that its
ambitions and extremist policies contained through safety features. The President agreed to only meet
with Hitler when the Vice Chancellor, Von Papen, was present. Only two cabinet ministers were
included. By offering this, Von Papen made perhaps the most fatal underestimation of the 20th
century. He had had the responsibility of being decisive, thorough and unfaltering when Hindenburg
could not be and so his weak acceptance of Hitler s demands when he was perhaps not even in a
position to demand is surely a cause of Hitler s appointment.
Debatably, this arrangement was a production of Hitler s own political skill as opposed to, or as well
as, Papen s great failure. Hitler s opportunism, vehement desire for power and ability to manipulate
people was crucial for his success. Meeting with Von Papen in December 1932, he resolutely
demanded the Chancellorship. Whereas Strasser faltered in making botched agreements with Von
Schleicher for a lesser position, Hitler held out against odds. Additionally Hitler s chameleon nature
meant that he was successfully demanding with Von Papen, yet very respectful

Virginia Tech Massacre
On April 16, 2007 a student, Seung Hui Cho, at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University
(Virginia Tech) in Blacksburg, went on a shooting rampage and opened fire on his fellow students and
Virginia Tech community members. The shooting took place in the early hours of the morning when
many students were preparing for classes. The first two shootings occurred at 7:15 am at West Ambler
Johnston Hall. 21/2 hours later after Cho had changed his blood stained clothes, deleted his e mails,
removed the hard drive, mailed videos to NBC television; he again went on another shooting spree
which killed 30 people. In total Cho killed 32 people and wounded 25 others before killing himself.

The university rather sent out e mails to students. There was no urgency in the message, some students
did not even know that such a message was sent to alert them of danger.
6. Two hours after the first two shootings, Cho goes again on another shooting rampage with no
resistance at all. The gunman had time to mail his videos to NBC television, delete files on his
computer while the administration was trying to figure how to handle the situation. That was a
security failure of the administration.
7. It is reported that there was an impromptu meeting to determine the cause of the shooting. During
this time, at least the place should have been secured so students weren t in harm s way. At least TV
screens on the hall way and around campus should have alerted the students of a gunman on the loose
around the campus. Students were kept in the dark allowing the gunman to carry out his target
unhindered.
8. If a 911 call was dispatched soon after the first shootings there would have been less casualties. The
area would have been combed and questions asked until the shooter was found. Special police dogs
would have helped locate. If the university had security surveillance cameras, the motion pictures
would have aided during the search.

Creative Development of Robert Schumann
Concert program: The creative development of Robert Schumann Introduction One of the unique
features of the 19th century composer Robert Schumann s output is the degree to which the verbal
mediums of literature (such as poetry and drama) affected his musical output. While many operas have
been inspired by great literature, Schumann s expression even in his piano compositions and non
verbally oriented musical works show a literary flair. Many of his compositions allude to characters or
scenes from poems, novels, and plays; others are like musical crossword puzzles with key signatures
or musical themes that refer to people or places important to him (Gifford 2012). Schumann worked as
an editor and journalist for a popular musical magazine, the Neue Zeitsfchrift fur Musik, and had a
great deal of literary self consciousness about how he constructed his art (Gifford 2012). Ironically,
Schumann s operas were not successful and it is his nonverbal piano works that have solidified his
reputation for musical greatness. A number of musical critics have noted that there is a distinct break
in the tone, style, and structure of Robert Schumann s earlier works with his later output.
Characterizations like subjective objective suggest that Schumann s instrumental works of the early
1840s broke cleanly from the music of his past (Brown 2004). His earlier songs of the 1830s are
considered to be some of the finest expressions of short, Romantic musical forms. He virtually

Allied Strategic Bombing Analysis
Strategic bombing is a military strategy used in total war, deployed with the goal of defeating the
enemy, by destroying their morale or their economic ability to produce and transport material to the
theatres of military operations. The four areas in which the significance of Allied strategic bombing
will be assessed are: economic, diplomacy, morale and the effect it had on the fighting fronts in
Europe.
The First area of strategic bombing to be assessed is the effect it had on scattering the German military
from their posted Fronts and the destruction of the Luftwaffe. The bombing raids on Germany drew
defenses that were positioned on the Eastern Front and in other areas to try and counter the incoming
Allie aircraft. German anti tank defenses ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It was only due to the collaboration between the British, the Russians and US; the third Front could be
created. The third front tightened the relationship between the Allie countries and from then was able
to work together in attempts to defeat the Nazis regime. Strategic bombing was only instigated
because Churchill, who was already a major supporter of bombing, and Roosevelt did not want to re
create the horrors from bombing civilians in the form of terror bombing from World War two. As well
Stalin wanted a third front to keep pressured, menacing attacks on Germany, so a new front enabled a
workload shift from the Russians to the rest of the Allies air force. The Casablanca conference, 21
January 1943 was a turning point in the effectiveness of allied bombing against Germany. At
Casablanca, Churchill and Roosevelt agreed to give the heaviest bombing offensive against the
German war machine. The combined leaders issued an order to the air forces to bring about the
destruction and dislocation of the German Military, industrial and economic system and the
undermining of the morale. This was done by the technique called Unconditional Surrender. This
means that the winner of the war is eligible to control the enemies land and borders, and the defeated
is given nothing. Diplomacy was the factor that controlled the bombing raids through the war. This
increased the significance of bombing for

Sugar And Stretch Signals
better tasting product, they often load it up with sugar. This does not work well, as our body cannot
process the sugar fast enough. So this amount of sugar tells the pancreas to make insulin, which is the
fat producing hormone. High insulin levels also have the problem of blocking the Full! signals that
travel to a person s brain. From there, the converted sugar energy gets stored in the liver, and the
excess gets stored in fat cells, creating, well, the bad fat no one wants on their body. This is often
common with low fat foods, and certain carbohydrates, as they turn into sugar, and eventually, fat.

William Clover, talking about his experience in Lyon, the second largest city in France in his book The
French Don t Diet Plan, says, A... search on the official Lyon website revealed that there are no gyms
in that city. This might confuse some people, as they think about the thin, and small waistlines of our
Parisian counterparts. How can people not work out, but still say so thin? The answer is simple, they
get their exercise elsewhere. They are very active people, while Americans are often lazy, or only
exercise without taking diet into consideration. Actually, before 1953, it was common knowledge that
exercise could cause heart attacks and diminish sex drive. That was until a study in 1953 showed that
a fat and a skinny mouse ate the exact same, but had a difference due to the fat mouse s unhealthy
habit of not exercising on his wheel. Fast forward to 1980, and in the next two decades, fitness club
memberships doubled. The only problem is, obesity rates doubled as well. Billions went to trying to
lose weight, and a fitness revolution sparked across the nation. It was easily seen that gyms were
expanding, but waistlines expanded as well, and a decade later, two thirds of Americans were
overweight or obese.

The Effects Of Police Use Of Force
Police use of force in America has been and still is a major area of concern to the American public.
The media seemingly never runs out of stories and cases to push into the mainstream for the public to
watch and develop more concern for this area of law enforcement. Furthermore, there is a portion of
the population who believe that the use of force by law enforcement is disproportionately used on
minorities more specifically the African American community (Kolhatkar, 2017). However, is this use
of force epidemic a reality in both of these cases? Another use of force issue is the use of lethal force
by law enforcement officers. Again the argument seen in the media and social media is often that there
is a large portion of lethal force that is used on minorities as compared to Caucasian individuals
(Lowery, 2016). Additionally, that the use of lethal force should be avoided and in other cases being
used in excess (The Guardian, 2017). Current research in the field of police use of force and police use
of lethal force in relationship towards race is going to be reviewed in order to show a broader picture
that is more representative of the real issues.
The Numbers The numbers in police use of force vary depending on what measures are used. Was the
force reasonable or unreasonable or was force used improperly is just a few. Strictly looking at the
frequency of the use of force in encounters would lead one to believe there is no such epidemic as
media outlets would lead people

Peopl My Leadership Model (Mbti)
Week one into this course has been a defining moment in my life. It sets the stage into life as a more
consciously self aware and emotionally intelligent being, and the awareness of others as equally
emotional beings whether or not these others are self aware or not. In it, the MBTI were taught to
which I as at then, tentatively identify my preference as one that is inclined to Introversion, iNtuition,
Feeling and Perceiving (INFP).
Now, I can say with certainty, in the light of what I have learned thus far that I am a compassionate
leader who wants the best out of my followers by minimizing their threat responses. I am relatively
transparent, love my relative importance in comparison to others and love to have autonomy. Because,
I naturally gravitated towards non violent communication base on my MBTI preference, I tend to
extend empathy in my dealing with people and give them the preferences with which I would like to
be given.
This have a side effect, which in my experience appears to paint me as a weak leader who carries
almost all the burden in a sacrificial way just not to offend my subordinates. However, the moment I
then become more assertive and change in my leadership style, I am immediately seen as threatening
and perhaps trigger my followers threat responses. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Clinical Dietitian
A clinical dietitian is one career path registered dietitians may pursue. UW Health is a network of
hospitals and clinics that hires registered dietitians to work with patients to achieve their health and
wellness goals, using the foundation of good nutrition to do so. UW Health employs dietitians both in
the hospital settings, and in out patient clinics. This report will focus on the role of dietitians in the out
patient setting. The UW Health website describes the role of the dietitian as being in charge of the
patient s medical nutrition therapy, meaning they are using a nutritional evaluation to make an
individualized plan to help that patient reach their goals. In addition, the dietitian is providing

Each patient will bring with them a unique profile. It is important to look at health history, genetics,
dietary preferences, lifestyle, etc. in order to gain an accurate picture of that individual s goals and
needs. Looking at all of these aspects in each individual situation requires the ability to adapt and
think on your toes. Integrating genetics into the process of creating a personalized nutritional plan is
considered nutritional genomics. While it is not widely used yet, it is an up and coming practice that
future clinical dietitians should become familiar with. This practice will require some patience, as it is
new and there may be some kinks in the process. Some people do not believe there to be a link
between nutrition and genetics, however, the science is showing that there is indeed a connection. To
prepare for the professional world, dietitians should become familiar with the tests used in nutritional
genomics and how genes may play a role in an individuals personalized nutrition plan. This is an
example of a new trend in dietetics that registered dietitians are expected to remain current on. Being a
member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) would help dietitians to stay informed
on recent topics such as nutritional genomics. Dietitians must be able to integrate their nutritional
knowledge into a clinical

Information and digital literacy play vital roles in our society and are necessary tools for citizens to

Information Literacy Definition , n.d.) Digital literacy is the ability to find, evaluate, utilize, share, and
create content using information technologies and the Internet. ( What is Digital Literacy? , n.d.)The

acquiring digital literacy was difficult to do at first but grew progressively easier over the years. Garza
was introduced to his first computer in the early 80 s at the age of 32 to which he said the experience
was difficult to get used to since it was a very new thing . With no formal computer classes or training,
he became digitally literate through trial and error and the pressure to evolve with his generation as

Humor And Its Relationship With Positive Life Outcomes
Humor has been said to play a large role in our everyday lives, including having an impact on ones
well being; mainly influencing their level of self esteem. Humor is often seen as a coping mechanism
for dealing with stressful events throughout a person s lifetime (Stieger, Formann, Burger, 2011). For
some time there has been the circulating idea that humor is directly related to positive life outcomes,
but has been supported with very limited empirical evidence (Vaughan, Zeigler Hill, Arnau, 2014).
This view is often encrypted in the minds of general society because of the constant use of jokes and
sayings that acknowledge the use of humor as a way to deal with life s current circumstances; using
humor as a means to cope (Leist Müller, 2013). The problem with this view is that it does not consider
that there are multiple styles of humor that can affect its relationship with positive life outcomes
(Vaughan et al., 2014). Contemporary research suggests that sense of humor is a multidimensional
personality construct consisting of both [two] adaptive and [two] maladaptive styles (Kirsh, 2005).
Based on this prior research there are four distinct styles of humor which are defined as being a person
s habitual conduct or use of humor in daily life, that is his or her typical stable pattern of humor
behaviours and attitudes (Beermann, 2014). The two adaptive styles are: (1) self enhancing humor,
which is the use of personal humor to make oneself laugh and uplift your

Plot in Their Eyes Were Watching God by Hurston Zora
All of this takes place in a rural town of West Florida called Eatonville in the early twentieth century. I
was amazed at the story, symbols and images that this novel creates. The symbolism and metaphorical
language used also brought interest and an urge to want to read more. In the novel Their eyes were
watching God by Hurston Zora, Janie Crawford is a black middle aged woman who has an intriguing
story to tell. She has been away from her home town for few years and comes back to be welcomed by
harsh and barely near factual gossip and criticism. In life, criticism is inevitable like death, whether it
s positive or negative. What I found interesting is how Janie brushes off and takes no offense to the
harsh gossip from her neighbors when she returned. The reason for that is because Janie left and found
herself, she has lived life, got married a couple of times and know what life is outside of her town. She
knew what love was and also knew what it felt like to be happy and hurt. Janie Crawford experienced
things that any of the females who gossiped about her hasn t. The story of her life begins to unfold as
she sits with Phoebe Watson, her friend for decades that brought her some mullato rice. I think Phoebe
shows signs of hypocrisy because although she defended Janie when the other women spoke badly
about her, prior to Janie s arrival she accompanied these women daily as they gossiped about other
people. Sheep don t stay in the presence of wolves for too long. Well, nobody

Essay On Social Cognitive Theory
Social Cognitive Theory Social Cognitive Theory (SCT) evolved from the Social Learning Theory
(SLT) in the sixties under the stewardship of Albert Bandura. However, it was in 1986 that the SCT
achieved full recognition. The theory argues that learning takes place in a social context with a
reciprocal and dynamic manner involving the environment, person, and behavior (LaMorte, 2016).
One main unique feature of the SCT is that it puts a lot of emphasis on social influence, as well as, the
social reinforcement at both internal and external levels. Not only does SCT put into consideration the
distinct manner in which human beings acquire and use behavior, but it also considers the social
environment people perform such behaviors. The theory ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another concept to SCT is the Behavioral Capability, which the individual s actual capabilities to
carry out a behavior through the essential skills and knowledge. According to the concept, an
individual is only able to perform a task if he or she knows what to do and how to do it. The
consequences of individuals behavior help him or her to learn, which extends to also affect the
environment in which they leave. People learn from the consequences of their behavior, which also
affects the environment in which they live. The concept of Observational Learning asserts that
individuals are able to observe and witness a behavior from others, and then replicate the same actions
and it is exhibited through behavior modeling (LaMorte, 2016). Individuals are adaptive and if they
see a specific behavior in an individual, they are likely to embrace it. According to LaMorte (2016),
Reinforcements as a concept of the SCT are a reflection of both the external and internal responses to
an individual s behavior, which affect the likelihood of continuity or discontinuity of such a behavior.
While the individual can initiate reinforcements or it can be emulated from the prevailing

The Genocide Of The Rwanda Essay
In 1994, Rwanda was a situation of hatred and revenge tailored by European influence that mixed
together to form the recipe for Genocide. Classical control of third world nations and exploitation by
the west is nothing new. In Africa, the direction of the government is often manipulated by countries
that have had historical control over them. The Genocide of Rwanda was a transfer of position that
placed the Hutu people in a seat of power over the former rulers, which were the Tutsis elite. This shift
in power led to the division of a nation, evolving propaganda, and a psychological approach used to
create a genocide.
In the early history of Rwanda, there lie differences in people, but peace among the populace was
always upheld in the eyes of the Tutsis. In the opinion of the Hutu, they recall being subjugated
beneath the mwami , the Tutsis elite. In the precolonial times, the Hutu and Tutsis were called a
collective name, the Banyarwanda, which was the term for people of Rwanda. Germany gained
control of the region in 1885 and governed their region through the mwami . An English man named
John Hanning Speke gave a hardline separation of the two people that would be echoed by the
Belgians and the Hutus later into the 20th century. The term Hamitic hypothesis stated that the origins
of the Hutu and Tutsis were that of a leader and servant. It claimed that the origin of Tutsis had
descended from the Biblical King David out of Ethiopia and they were a superior race

The Pros And Cons Of Stem Cells
INTRODUCTION
All organisms depend on stem cells for their survival. Accordingly, stem cells may be a requirement
for the evolution of specific characteristics in organisms that include regeneration, multicellularity and
coloniality (Chakraborty and Agoramoorthy, 2012). Stem cells are undifferentiated cells that are found
in the body which have the ability to continuously divide, self renew and differentiate into various
kinds of cells. The production of an engineered tissue in vitro requires the use of cells to populate
matrices and produce matrix resembling that of the native tissue (Howard, 2008). With the capability
of self renewal, pluripotency and differentiation, stem cells were believed to be useful in treating a
wide variety of diseases ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Stem cell study focusses on stem cells, which got the capacity of regenerating. A stem cell is highly
capable of emerging to other forms of cells like liver, kidney and heart cells. These cells are
circulating and functioning in order to substitute cells that are no longer functioning well. Stem cell
research carries with it sets of advantages and disadvantages that individuals need to be aware of.
Stem cell Pros
Offers a lot of medical benefits in the therapeutic sectors of regenerative medicine and cloning.
Stem cell research paved way for effective treatment discoveries.
Helps researchers know more about the growth of human cells and their development.
In future, stem cell study can permit the scientists to test some of possible medicines and drugs
without carrying out any test on animals and humans.
The stem cell therapy lets scientists study the developmental stages that cannot be known directly
through the human embryo and can be used in the treatment of a number of birth defects, infertility
problems and also pregnancy loss.
Stem cells can reverse effects of aging and lengthening life.
Stem cell therapy sets into use the cells of the patient s own body organs and henceforth the risk of
rejection can be reduced because the cells were belong to the same human body.

Introduction
Throughout the course of one s academic and professional career, one will be required to create,
present, and receive needed information via numerous presentations which utilize slide deck software
such as Microsoft PowerPoint, Google Slides, and Apple s Keynote. In this project, I will discuss the
effective use of these applications to create presentations which effectively utilize elements of visual
design to effectively communicate with an audience. My interest in this topic comes from my
experience as both a student and a professional. In these capacities, I have regularly experience both

Technology has given anyone with basic computer knowledge the ability to create multimodal blended
structure slide decks, and then distribute this media throughout the internet. I utilized The Non
Designer s Design Book because it emphasizes the four basic principles of good visual design, which
can easily be applied to create slide based presentations. These four principles include contrast,
repetition, alignment and proximity. The proper implementation of the principles are key to the
creation of an effective slideshow presentation. Another influential reading from our course which I
am able to apply to my project is Visual Language for Designers. The main points I take from this
reading, which are applicable to this project are the idea of minimalism in a low fidelity visual and the
idea of reducing the quantity of elements in a visual.
For this project, I also utilized other sources which dealt directly with the effective use of visual in
presentations. One valuable project resource was a 2014 TEDx talk given by David JP Phillips entitle
How to Avoid Death by PowerPoint. The main points taken from this source include the limitation of
one topic per slide, the importance of the size of visuals in presentations, the ability to capture the
attention of an audience with the effective use of

Persuasive Essay On Double Jeopardy
Forensic Technology is constantly evolving and advancing, this has meant many criminal cases have
been solved. However due to the current double jeopardy laws, criminals who have been previously
tried cannot be apprehended for their crimes. The current double jeopardy laws are one of the leading
factors as to why murders and other criminals are allowed to walk free. The double jeopardy laws
must be amended to ensure these criminals are properly punished for their crimes.
Double jeopardy is a defence to a prosecution for a crime, raising the claim that the accused is being
placed on trial for a second time for the same offence. No person may be twice put in jeopardy of life

is clear in the case of Philip Leung. Mr Philip Leung has been put on trial three times for the murder
of his lover /partner. At his original trial in 2009, Mr Leung was acquitted of murder after a judge
directed the jury to find him not guilty. The Crown, however, used the controversial amended double
jeopardy laws, introduced in 2006, to have the verdict quashed. Mr Leung then faced court on a
manslaughter charge last April, but became the first person in Australian legal history to be acquitted
twice by a judge s directed verdict. However the NSW Court of Criminal Appeal upheld a second
appeal by the Crown and ordered that Mr Leung again be tried for manslaughter ( ).One of the main if

The Swimmer Theme
We ignore it, we do not realize it and we certainly do not want to come to terms with it but at the end
of the day, irrespective of how we, humans, feel about it, the passage of time is inevitable. Time is
taken for granted, it is not something we pay much attention to in our everyday lives most of us cannot
even afford to do so. Our lives are slow, as is the process of realizing that we are gradually being
absorbed into oblivion, disappearing bit by bit in our own time and turning ourselves into mere
memories that in the grand scheme of things are virtually irrelevant. The Swimmer by John Cheever is
a short story that, in an incredibly accurate manner, illustrates how the neglect of reality can impair a

The health of the Susquehanna River and Chesapeake Bay was found based on Biological
(macroinvertebrates and wildlife) and Chemicals characteristics (pH, dissolved oxygen, phosphates,
nitrates, etc.) as well as physical observations (amount of forested buffers, wetlands, etc.) Overall it
was concluded that the health of the water was good to excellent. What was found was that many of
the macroinvertebrates found in the water were sensitive or facultative, meaning the water quality was
good enough for them to live in. Also, the level of ph, temperature, dissolved oxygen, phosphates,

Underwater grasses, or Elodea, was observed as well. This wide variety of life is a good indicator of
the water s health.
The chemical characteristics observed and documented were pH, temperature, phosphate, nitrate,
turbidity, and dissolved oxygen. Each of these chemical levels were documented and found differently.
Most were found using a kit or a device. The numbers found, would tell us how polluted the stream
was and how much nutrients were in the water. Each chemical has a scale for telling what a good level
is and what a bad level is. If an excess amount of nutrients was found in the water, algae could be
formed. When algae is formed it blocks sunlight from shining into the water, which creates dead
zones. This is called eutrophication. A dead zone is an area where there is no life. This can cause
major problems like population issues and more. If the algae continues to grow in the river, the whole
body of water can die out, and people as well as other organisms are very dependent on the
Susquehanna. While on the river though, there was an absence of algae, so sunlight is able to get
through the water, which is very good.
Physical characteristics are important as well. While canoeing, many things were observed and
notices. Tires were seen at the bottom of the river. This is most likely because of the highway that runs
on both sides or the river, and over it on bridges too. Because of the highway, there is a high risk

Essay about The Social Security Program

Social Security provides for the needs of a country s citizens when they are no longer able to provide
for themselves through gainful employment, is an issue that evokes multiple viewpoints. Before laying
the framework of the argument for meaningful change to social security program, the program itself
must be defined. The Social Security Program is based on the premise during your productive working
years you pay a percentage of your income as a tax into the social security system, at some point in the
future either by retirement or disability you or your beneficiaries (dependents, children, or survivors)

current and future generations benefits at the current level (The Board of Trustees, 2012). The report
further states that a reduction in benefits for future generations, not past or current generations must
also come into effect (The Board of Trustees, 2012). The report however highlights that an optional
additional level of pay in should be created, allowing persons of future generations who would like to
maintain the current benefit level to do so (The Board of Trustees, 2012). The final step to making
social security structurally viable is the restructuring of its debt; to past generations by allocating 2%
of current payments towards it exclusively (Gokhale, 2013). With these changes past, current, and
future generations can continue to benefit from social security, while the program stay s true to its core
values of providing persons with the minimum level of income, when they are no longer capable of
working due to their age.
The final structural change that will improve the viability of social security is raising the age
requirement to receive the full benefits of social security. The obvious effects of lifting the age
requirements is the number of payments to individuals is reduced, the number of persons

Comparison Between Confucianism And Taoism
Confucianism and Taoism are often referred to as rival philosophies. Both religions emerged in
ancient China around 5th 4th century BCE. Confucianism was founded by Kong Qui, otherwise
known as Confucius(Harbsmeier, 2013). Taoism was founded by Lao Tzu. Both of these founders are
considered two of the most influential philosophers and spiritual leaders native to China. Both
emerged as a result of the fall of the Zhou Dynasty (Sellman, 2006). Both of these religions encourage
their followers to live well rounded lives. Taoism is centered in nature and how it can make one s life
better and Confucianism is based on harmony with society.
Confucianism is both a philosophy and a religion (Mei, 2017). Confucianism is focused on setting a
good example (Harbsmeier, 2013). This is done through five relationships; ruler and subject, wife and
husband, older and younger sibling, friend and friend and father and son (Mei, 2017). It is an all
encompassing way of life focused on morals, humanity and ethics, and teaches that each person
should behave virtuously in every social setting (Mei, 2017). In contrast, Taoism focuses on living
harmoniously with everyone. Taoism is also considered a philosophy and a religion which reaches into
every aspect of an adherent s life (White Paper, 2003). Taoism is based on the idea that the universe
and everything in it moves because of a mysterious force or control known as the Tao (Sellman,
2006). Tao is also used to describe human

The Girl By The Roadside Essay
The Girl by the Roadside
The Girl by the Roadside is a 1917 Bluebird Photoplay adaptation of a Varick Vanardy s novel of the
same name. This moralizing crime drama was presented by seasoned veterans of the film industry,
including director, Theodore Marston, a former theater actor and who transitioned to film and directed
several crime dramas such as 1918 s Beyond the Law, and starring one of Universal s most popular
actresses, Violet Mersereau, whose career spanned eighteen years from 1908 1926. The Girl by the
Roadside functions as a cultural mediator, processing and addressing the complex social
circumstances of the period, as well as, acting as a microcosmic reflection of the transitional nature of
the American film industry in the 1910s, reflecting the film industry in the midst of a transition which
eventually proved to be successful as many of the systems and innovations of the time were perfected,
leading to the future more competitive nature of Universal Pictures during the classical Hollywood
era, as well as, the wildly popular film industry of this era which continues to amaze and entertain
audiences even after its divestment.
Based on the sparse supply of reviews from contemporary trade journals and newspapers, it is clear
that the basic narrative of the film revolves around Judith Ralston a young woman on vacation with
her brother, Budd, and wife. After injuring her ankle falling from a horse, Judith is rescued by Boone

Emergency Plumbing Services Case Study
How to Find Emergency Plumbing Services Five Questions to Ask
It is common for homeowners to put plumbing issues in the back of their mind, until emergency
plumbing services are needed. In an emergency, every second counts, especially in situations, such as
a burst pipe or busted water heater. In emergency situations, it is essential that you hire a qualified
plumber to avoid costly mistakes down the road. The best defense is to have plumbers in Seattle on
hand before a disaster strikes, so in order to protect yourself, here are five questions to ask before
making the decision to hire.
Are You Licensed?
The first question to ask when hiring potential emergency plumbing services, is are you licensed in
Seattle? Not all areas require a license, so if they do not have one, make sure to ask if it is required.
Licensed plumbers in Seattle must pass a test showing they know the current building codes and they
are required to stay up to date on all building code changes. If a license is required and you hire an
unlicensed plumber, the work will be considered illegal, which means the insurance company will not
reimburse you and you may have to pay a fine to the city and/or county.

Gender is a Fundamental Element of the Broadway Musical
Starting in the golden age of 1950, a Broadway musical s critical judgement depended on how well
the show s elements were formally integrated. Meaning the outlook of the plot in relation to the music,
lyrics and characterization of gender roles. Gender is a fundamental element of Broadway musical
theatre, constitutional to the musical s architecture. It is essential as a building block for characters,
music/lyrics, and stage settings. Broadway musical is a popular art, in which conveys social issues in
the female gender from the representations of women in the 1950 s to today. The Broadway musical
participates in a larger conversation about gender and sexuality because it is a commercial, profit
seeking, artistic commodity, entertainment form, and cultural product. Broadway musical is a
mainstream form that needs to relate to middle class audiences desires and expectations, one might
expect only social issues and stereotypical representations of women. The female gender stereotypes
are represented in Broadway musicals portrayed by the character s roles. As time went by, the
portrayal of the female characters in musicals changed because of the representation that women in
today receives. Thus, these musicals explore social issues of the day, including women s rights and
changing roles in U.S. culture, sometimes directly and sometime obliquely. Therefore, the Broadway
musical venerates female performers and provides substantial roles for women. Female characters and

Essay on The Arab-Israeli Conflict
There were many factors which contributed to the wars between the Arabs and Israelis in 1956, 1967
and 1973. One of which was President Nasser s personality.
In the 1950 s a new president, Gamal Abdul Nasser, came to power in Egypt. President Nasser had a
very strong and determined character and was very eager to get revenge on the Israelis for the 1948
war, which Egypt lost. President Nasser wanted to get Palestine back into the Arab control and to do
this he had to unite the Arab world under his control. In order to get what he wanted Nasser needed

The west were frightened of losing their influence in the Middle East and thus they, along with Israel,
decided to make a joint attack on Egypt.
This factor therefore led to great conflicts between the Arabs and Israelis.
b) Choose one factor which you think was the most important in causing the war. (9 marks)
From the list of factors given, I consider that the Russian foreign policy was the most important in
causing the wars in 1956, 1967 and 1973 between the Arab s and Israelis.
During the Arab Israeli conflict, the world s two greatest super powers , USA and the USSR were in a
cold war against each other. Since they were bitter enemies, it is evident that once the USSR found out
that the USA were helping Israel in the war, it decided to help the Arabs in rivalry.
The Suez Sinai war in 1956 was when the USSR first helped the Arabs by providing them with
military arms and equipment. Since Czechoslovakia was under the influence of the USSR and it was
the main country to provide the Arab world with fighter planes, warships, bombers, tanks and guns, it
was seen as though the USSR were directly providing help for the Arabs. It can be seen that without

Mary Queen Of Scots By William Shakespeare
Mary I of England, not to be confused with her cousin Mary Queen of Scots, is most commonly
referred to as one of the most, if not the most vicious and blood thirsty monarchs in English history
and few of them have been given reputations as infamous as hers. Mary was obsessed with the quest
to return England from the Protestant Church of England to its Catholic tradition during her three year
reign as Queen of England. Mary s insistence on creating a Catholic English nation stemmed from
resentment held for her father King Henry VIII s decision to break away and create his own religion,
harboring the Reformation period. These reforms were ultimately reversed under Mary, who was
determined to achieve her goals at any cost. Mary was not afraid to remove anyone who stood in her
path of reform. Fueled by her loyalty and love for the Catholic Church, Mary s reputation and legacy
of Bloody Mary was created as she sought to create her Catholic nation, at the expense of the
hundreds of Protestants that were murdered under her reign. Born on February 18, 1516, Mary Tudor
was the fifth child but the only child of Henry Tudor VIII and his first wife Catherine of Aragon who
survived to live until adulthood (Doran). She was baptized soon after her birth and was raised in the
Catholic tradition of her mother. Mary was sent off by her father to live in Wales, and was constantly
set up for marriages with princes and other nobility. She was taught by an English tutor was a prolific

that should be researched. Robert Tannenbaum and Warren H. Schmidt (1958, 1973), who argued that
the style of leadership is dependent upon the prevailing circumstance, therefore leaders should
exercise a range of management styles and deploy them as appropriate. In fact, a management style is
an overall method of leadership used by a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Apart from culture and law, different business customs also can influence management styles.
Business custom is part of a nation s culture. It has been formed in a long time, maybe several
decades, several countries, or even thousands years such as China and Japan. The custom includes
how to manage enterprise, how to treat customers, how to get along with leaders and subordinates.
Different countries and economic systems have different answers and standards. For example, in
China, face issue is important for individuals in traditional custom. And appreciation or
encouragements should be made before any criticism. If managers point out employees mistake in
front of other workers directly, the employee might feel ashamed and reluctant to cooperate with the
manager in future, which surely will bring barriers to management. There are also various customs in
different regions, management styles are also changing according to such differences.
I would like to take Japan and the US as examples to discuss how these key factors, culture, policy,
and customs influence management styles in specific circumstances. Obviously, Japan and the US
display an obvious contrast in the aspect of culture, society and ideology, etc. I would like to discuss
the features of Japan and the US at first.
First of all, the US is a nation with a large number of immigrants, which determines that its national
culture is identified with individualism. As is known to all, the US is

Early Elementary Students Word Knowledge
Introduction
Researchers suggest that early elementary students word knowledge is a determining factor of reading
comprehension both in early elementary school and throughout their schooling (Juel Deffes, 2004).
Specifically, one such argument is, Vocabulary is an increasingly important predictor of reading
comprehension in higher grades. It is a strong predictor of fourth grade reading achievement and the
main predictor by seventh or eighth grade. By the middle elementary grades, 95% of kids can read
more words than they can understand. From third grade on the main limiting factor for the majority of
children is vocabulary, not reading mechanics (Kame enui Baumann, 2012, p. 34). While the
relationship between vocabulary and reading comprehension appears to be established, determining
which instructional methods to effectively increase students word knowledge and comprehension is
vitally important.
Statement of the Problem
Reading comprehension requires understanding the meanings of words, sentences, and texts.
Vocabulary refers to the knowledge of lexical meanings of words and the concepts connected to these
meanings. Differences in the size of vocabulary have an effect on word recognition as well as reading
comprehension (Arrnoutse, Van Leeuwe, Voeten, Oud, 2001). Vocabulary is a principle contributor to
fluency, comprehension, and achievement (Bromley, 2007, p. 522). However, the key question is, does
vocabulary instruction improve reading

Glorification of Masculinity in Sir Arthur Conan Doyle...
Glorification of Masculinity in The Lost World
The male ego and the fulfillment of a man s own image of himself can be strong motivating forces
behind his actions and behaviors. Society has created parameters used to define a real man; failing to
live up to these specifications threatens one s masculinity and standing amongst one s peers. These
expectations and requirements for manhood are constantly reinforced by society. The prevailing
stereotype of the classic Marlboro Man along with movie heroes such as James Bond, Indiana Jones,
and John Wayne give the impression of the adventurous ladies man who laughs in the face of danger
and can do no wrong. Arthur Conan Doyle s tale of adventure, The Lost World, is an excellent ...

Even the drunkard is recognized by Roxton as the best gentleman jock in the north country (52) which
somehow makes it seem that much more necessary to save him. All the qualities are based on the
physical appearance and condition of the characters. Doyle defines men by what they have
accomplished, the size of their chests, and their relative cranial sizes.
The bulk of this account from the journalist Malone takes place deep in the Amazon jungles of South
America far from civilization and the comforts of industry and technology. It is like one big Boy Scout
retreat. These professors and other gentlemen set out to find the undisturbed realm of the dinosaurs
and end up finding and thrilling the adventurous spirits inside them. It is called a scientific expedition,
but most of the actions taken are done to achieve personal satisfaction and advancement. Malone has
made it clear that his only purpose of accompanying the Professor was to find the excitement he
craved and to meet the expectations of his girlfriend. Lord Roxton just wants another trophy for his
mantle and to experience the awe of the strange plateau with a sportin risk in every mile of it (56).
Professor Challenger wants to prove himself to the scientific world and put to rest any doubts and

First, for Thanksgiving, you can have your nails painted as turkeys, cornucopias, or as an alternating
pattern between pilgrim hats and Indian feathered headdresses. For Christmas, you can have
Christmas trees, Santa Claus?s face, reindeer (with Rudolph in the lead on your thumb or big toe!),
wrapped presents, Christmas tree ornaments, angels or stars painted on your nails. You can also simply
paint your nails as an alternating color scheme between the two most festive colors, red and green, or
take it a step further by having glitter or a metallic matte topcoat added to imitate tinsel or the sparkle
of snow, for an extra dose of magic and the Christmas spirit. If you celebrate Hanukkah, you can paint
lit menorahs, dreidels, or the colors white and blue on your nails. Lastly, for New Year?s Eve and Day,
you can paint fireworks, disco balls, or the digits of the new year on your fingers. Like with
Christmas, you can also add glitter or other shiny materials like the metallic matte topcoat to give off a
sparkling and bedazzled look to fit in with the holiday?s mood and

Sexism In Epic Of Gilgamesh
The world is still sexist. Barbara Broccoli. From the creation story to modern day, women and men
still struggle with a power dynamic of inferiority and superiority. The problem of sexism has been
ever present throughout history, and although it has been acknowledged by many, it has not been
eradicated or resolved. Although the acknowledgment of sexism has grown over the course of the
modern era, it is heavily rooted in society s developmental process, which makes it continuously
difficult to annihilate. Furthermore, throughout many historical texts, women are often represented as
objects instead of real people. Within texts, such as the Epic of Gilgamesh, the Bible, the Quran, and
the Torah, women are constantly regarded as inferiors instead of equals with men. Throughout these
texts, there is a clear separation between the treatment of men and women, with women always being
referred to as property. The Epic of Gilgamesh contains several instances where women are regarded
as objects that solely provide men with pleasure, specifically with the story of Shamat and Enkidu. In
the beginning of the epic, the story is introduced with the creation of Enkidu and his transformation
into a human being; a vital part of Enkidu s transformation being a woman named Shamat. Shamat
acts as the bait or lure that leads Enkidu out of his animalistic lifestyle, and causes him to become
human. In order to do so, Shamat is told to do sexual acts that will arouse Enkidu. For example, the

Nickel And Dimed Analysis
The Attitude Of Success
Two similar experiences, but two very different attitudes. Life s enjoyment is based off of the attitude
chosen to have. In 1998, Barbara Ehrenreich, a bestselling author of sixteen books, starts an
experiment and goes undercover as a minimum wage worker and giving herself a little over one
thousand dollars to start with. Her experiment was to prove to the higher class of society that it is
impossible for single mothers to survive while work at a minimum wage job and trying to provide for
her children s needs. July of 2006, Adam Shephard, a 2006 college graduate who had read Ehrenreich
s perspective on minimum wage jobs for single mothers, decides to try the experiment out for himself

An attitude can say a lot about a person, and in Nickel and Dimed , Barbara Ehrenreich s attitude
about her jobs and bosses seemed to be negative most of the time, making me lose interest and feel
hopeless about my own future. When in Minnesota while working at Wal mart, Ehrenreich exclaims,
[...] the last thing I want to see is a customer riffling around, disturbing the place (166). Ehrenreich
complains again, [...] plenty of other people work here during the day. [...] it s after 10:00 and I ve got
another cart full of returns to go, and wouldn t it make more sense if we both worked on the carts,
instead of zoning the goddamn T shirts? (168). She also admits, So it s interesting, and more than a
little disturbing, to see how Barb turned out that she s meaner and slyer than I am, more cherishing of
grudges, and not quite as smart as I d hoped (169). Reading about the many negative experiences that
Ehrenreich had, has made me less excited for life after graduation and more worried about not
enjoying the career I have chosen to go to school for. What happens if I graduate, hate my job as a
dental hygienist, and all I do is talk negatively about how much I dislike working? I don t want to be
known as the negative nancy . Instead of immediately pointing out the bad in the situation, I want to
be the hard working hygienist who

Sulphur Queen Essay
The Sulphur Queen was a 523 foot tanker that was originally intended to carry oil, but was converted
to carry sulphur. On Feb. 3, 1963, the ship sent a radio report that placed it 230 miles southeast of
New Orleans, La., according to a report by Time Magazine. Then nothing. There was no SOS and no
warning of trouble. The ship simply disappeared. Two weeks later, pieces of a raft, a life vest and a
broken oar washed up on Florida beaches. An investigation launched by the Coast Guard shortly after
the disappearance concluded that the vessel was nowhere near seaworthy and likely caught fire at sea.
Such a conclusion was not far fetched. According to the article, once, the Queen actually sailed into a
New Jersey port with fires smoldering, unloaded her cargo, and sailed off again still burning. There s
really no explanation for where the term bermuda comes from besides it being the name for a group of
islands in the Atlantic. Triangle is part of the name because the area that covers the where the strange
appearences happen is in the shape of a triangle. There are no specific coordinates to map out the
Triangle. You could give the coordinates surrounding the area like Bermuda, Miami, Florida, San
Juan, and Puerto Rico, but the actual triangle cannot be so easily defined. They aren t researching
about accidents here, we re talking about the mysterious disappearances. For example, the Coast
Guard s SAR statistics are published each year. The Coast Guard off of New England

Persuasive Essay On Student Debt
Americans owe over $1.45 trillion in student debt. $2,858 of student debt is accrued every second,
there is approximately 44.2 borrower s and 11.2 percent of borrowers are delinquents. Straight out of
high school I knew my choices were to either go to college and take out loans to help me pay for
college or get a full time job and start saving. Neither of my parents have college degrees the only
member of my family that does is my oldest sister Desirae. She graduated from the University of
Alabama with a degree in criminal justice in 2014. This year on December 15th she will be graduating
from Troy University with her master s in public administration. I look up to my sister, so I chose the
college path of course hoping that it would start a new chapter in my life to help me succeed in the
long run. So, I myself am I borrower just like my sister but we had no choice considering our parents
and their financial situations.

  • 2. The Treatment Of Pregnant Women When it comes to childbirth many women say it is the best experience they go through in life. But women who are in prison say other wise. Being pregnant and locked up is one of the worse and hardest experience in life for them. It is not because they are pregnant in prison but it is the treatment they receive before and after the birth. Some of the women say they get great treatment but others say the treatment is horrid.People in the real world are debating if the treatment of pregnant women in prison is proper or if the treatment needs to be changed for the good or for the bad. For starters, 80% of the women who are in prison is due to the usage of drugs . At least 66 percent of women in prison have children, and that percentage ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The doctors have to see what drug they are on , but the main reason for the testing is to get see if the women are pregnant or if they have any serious health issues. Once finding out the women are pregnant the prison systems tell the ladies and schedule them a due date. This is good , but the bad thing is they are put in the prison with every other women. One would think since they are pregnant the prison system would separate them but no they do not. Pregnant women have to do every task the other women do. Like cleaning and cooking. The women that are in the clean task might not realize this but they are inhaling toxic chemicals. But this does not happen in every prison. For example there is a prison in Ohio that separates the soon to be mothers from the other inmates. These soon to be mothers are not in the same conditions as the other women. They are in bright colored rooms and they read a lot to get ready for when their baby is born (Leone 12). There are only 5 other states in the united states that have a program like in Ohio (Gormsen 14). Knowing there are only six states that have this program, that means there are forty four states that have pregnant women working in extreme conditions and possibly harming their child because of the prison system . Even though it is a 50 /50 chance if the prison the women attends is a good ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Why Was Kamehameha Important In History The prophecy said he would do many great feats, and that is what Kamehameha would do! Kamehameha is significant to history because he was the King of Hawaii and did many great things for Hawaii. He was prophesied to do so. He was significant for being the Hawaiian conqueror, the king who united islands, and even founded the Kamehameha dynasty. He was also significant for other challenges throughout his life. These are reasons why Kamehameha l is very significant to history. To start off, Kamehameha l was prophesied to do many feats for Hawaii and wanted to and even inherited being king after Kiwala o died. For example, in one of my sources it says, There were reportedly many prophetic signs that he would be a great leader, including ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Another example is, He eventually succeeded and went on to take over most the majority of nearby territories as well. This evidence further shows that he was definitely a conqueror ..and by 1810, Kamehameha became the first king to rule all the Hawaiian Islands. This evidence further shows that he was a king/ruler and united and ruled all the islandsIn conclusion, Kamehameha did many achievements when becoming the inherited ruler of Hawaii and it s islands. ThirdlyKamehameha was also significant in history because of his challenges throughout his life and all the other extra things he did.During his reign, he governed following kapu, an ancient system of rules and laws. This shows that not only did he conquer places and people, he made sure citizens had fair laws. Whether it s dealing with suicide bombings, cyber warfare, Eco terrorism, or even nuclear terrorism it is something that all countries have to deal with at some point. One of the main priorities of the United States is to keep terrorist attacks from occurring in our country at all costs. When looking at terrorists, two dangerous groups that will be discussed in this paper are the Hezbollah and the Harakat Al Muqawama Al Islamia (Hamas). These two groups both have strong beliefs and seem as though to go to any means possible to get their way and they will not stop until they get it. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This charity had supplied large funds to the families of suicide bombers. Receipts had been collected by police and had found that they had totaled more than $4.0 million in donations that had been sent to Hezbollah. Another hoopla that the Hezbollah had relied heavily on was television. The Al Manar television station was an important part of Hezbollah s propaganda. This was also important for their political stands, psychological warfare, and also was used as a money laundering technique. Also from the study done by Martin Rudner, the Al Manar was said to acquire large contributions from Hezbollah s own business cooperatives in Beirut, the Beqaa valley, and south Lebanon. Much of the budget requirements are actually being covered by Hezbollah. In return, the Al Manar plays a huge role in fundraising for this terrorist group. Television advertisements are run routinely on this station resulting in large donations being sent in from many different communities. (Hezbollah: Between Ideology and Political Pragmatism) Another reason the Hezbollah has remained a powerful terrorist group is because of their large network growth. The reason for this large growth has a lot to do with their recruitment process. Although the recruitment process is a tough aspect to gain insight on, there is some official communication that the Hezbollah has released that is used to learn more about this process. • 5. Racism And Structural Racism A prevalent issue surrounding southern historic house museum interpretation today includes, an acknowledgment of enslaved labor, but not the kind of engaged discussion that would help tourists identify with that labor in affective ways (Modlin, Jr., Alderman, and Gentry 13). Some sites are interpreting slavery well, other are not, and some choose not to interpret slavery at all. Sites like President Lincoln s Cottage and the Octagon House in Washington D.C. vary in methods of interpretation, but make the effort to establish slavery as a difficult historical truth in the United States. Examining historic house sites reveal how the absence of comprehensive slavery interpretation furthers structural racism in our society. A textbook definition of structural racism would include the normalization and legitimization of an array of dynamics historical, cultural, institutional and interpersonal that routinely advantage whites (Lawrence and Keleher 1). Institutional stigmatization of a marginalized community involves the reinforcing effects of...cultural norms, past and present, continually producing new, and re producing old forms of racism (Lawrence and Keleher 1). Notable historian Michel Rolph Trouillot observed in his book Silencing the Past, that U.S. slavery has both officially ended, yet continues in many complex forms most notably institutionalized racism and the cultural denigration of blackness makes its presentation particularly burdensome in the United ... It has become one of the most endangered mammals in the world, with only 1,600 of them left (Exploring nature education). Also According to another credible website about polar bears, Polar bears might not be endangered but they are one category off of becoming endangered, there are 20,000 25,000 left worldwide (animalpawnation). As you can see the Giant panda is classified as endangered. There are only about 1,600 left in the world. 1,600 may be a lot but surprisingly not to many scientists and researchers. On the other hand polar bears are classified as threatened one step away from becoming endangered. There are only about 20,000 25,000 left worldwide.Other than being endangered and threatened they also share many similar characteristics. The giant panda and polar bear are both similar and different in their physical qualities, habitat, and diet. As members of the mammal family, the giant panda and the polar bear share many of the same physical characteristics. On the other hand their appearances set them apart from one another in many ways. To start with pandas and polar bears are well alike and different in many ways. When being born pandas are about 15 17 centimeters long. • 7. Hitler Became Chancellor in January 1933 Because He Was... Hitler s assumption of power on the 30th of January 1933 was seemingly due to the mass popularity of the Nazi party. However it was far off achieving the 50% majority it needed to put Hitler automatically in power. As well as popularity, backstairs intrigue and the short sightedness of those in power enabled Hitler to become Chancellor. The weaknesses of Germany s political leadership were fundamental to Hitler s success. In some senses the popularity of the party only provided an opening, available for exploitation. Undoubtedly, Nazi popularity placed pressure on government and on President Hindenburg to make Hitler Chancellor. Their astonishing rise in votes since 810 000 in 1928 to 13.75 million in July 1932 was extraordinary. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Meeting with Kurt Von Schröder, Papen not only in turn helped solve the Nazi financial debts to ensure the continuation of the party, but presented an opportunity to Hitler which he otherwise would not have been offered. Papen convinced Hindenburg the Nazi support could be harnessed and that its ambitions and extremist policies contained through safety features. The President agreed to only meet with Hitler when the Vice Chancellor, Von Papen, was present. Only two cabinet ministers were included. By offering this, Von Papen made perhaps the most fatal underestimation of the 20th century. He had had the responsibility of being decisive, thorough and unfaltering when Hindenburg could not be and so his weak acceptance of Hitler s demands when he was perhaps not even in a position to demand is surely a cause of Hitler s appointment. Debatably, this arrangement was a production of Hitler s own political skill as opposed to, or as well as, Papen s great failure. Hitler s opportunism, vehement desire for power and ability to manipulate people was crucial for his success. Meeting with Von Papen in December 1932, he resolutely demanded the Chancellorship. Whereas Strasser faltered in making botched agreements with Von Schleicher for a lesser position, Hitler held out against odds. Additionally Hitler s chameleon nature meant that he was successfully demanding with Von Papen, yet very respectful ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 9. Creative Development of Robert Schumann Concert program: The creative development of Robert Schumann Introduction One of the unique features of the 19th century composer Robert Schumann s output is the degree to which the verbal mediums of literature (such as poetry and drama) affected his musical output. While many operas have been inspired by great literature, Schumann s expression even in his piano compositions and non verbally oriented musical works show a literary flair. Many of his compositions allude to characters or scenes from poems, novels, and plays; others are like musical crossword puzzles with key signatures or musical themes that refer to people or places important to him (Gifford 2012). Schumann worked as an editor and journalist for a popular musical magazine, the Neue Zeitsfchrift fur Musik, and had a great deal of literary self consciousness about how he constructed his art (Gifford 2012). Ironically, Schumann s operas were not successful and it is his nonverbal piano works that have solidified his reputation for musical greatness. A number of musical critics have noted that there is a distinct break in the tone, style, and structure of Robert Schumann s earlier works with his later output. Characterizations like subjective objective suggest that Schumann s instrumental works of the early 1840s broke cleanly from the music of his past (Brown 2004). His earlier songs of the 1830s are considered to be some of the finest expressions of short, Romantic musical forms. He virtually ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. Allied Strategic Bombing Analysis Strategic bombing is a military strategy used in total war, deployed with the goal of defeating the enemy, by destroying their morale or their economic ability to produce and transport material to the theatres of military operations. The four areas in which the significance of Allied strategic bombing will be assessed are: economic, diplomacy, morale and the effect it had on the fighting fronts in Europe. The First area of strategic bombing to be assessed is the effect it had on scattering the German military from their posted Fronts and the destruction of the Luftwaffe. The bombing raids on Germany drew defenses that were positioned on the Eastern Front and in other areas to try and counter the incoming Allie aircraft. German anti tank defenses ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It was only due to the collaboration between the British, the Russians and US; the third Front could be created. The third front tightened the relationship between the Allie countries and from then was able to work together in attempts to defeat the Nazis regime. Strategic bombing was only instigated because Churchill, who was already a major supporter of bombing, and Roosevelt did not want to re create the horrors from bombing civilians in the form of terror bombing from World War two. As well Stalin wanted a third front to keep pressured, menacing attacks on Germany, so a new front enabled a workload shift from the Russians to the rest of the Allies air force. The Casablanca conference, 21 January 1943 was a turning point in the effectiveness of allied bombing against Germany. At Casablanca, Churchill and Roosevelt agreed to give the heaviest bombing offensive against the German war machine. The combined leaders issued an order to the air forces to bring about the destruction and dislocation of the German Military, industrial and economic system and the undermining of the morale. This was done by the technique called Unconditional Surrender. This means that the winner of the war is eligible to control the enemies land and borders, and the defeated is given nothing. The answer is simple, they get their exercise elsewhere. They are very active people, while Americans are often lazy, or only exercise without taking diet into consideration. Actually, before 1953, it was common knowledge that exercise could cause heart attacks and diminish sex drive. That was until a study in 1953 showed that a fat and a skinny mouse ate the exact same, but had a difference due to the fat mouse s unhealthy habit of not exercising on his wheel. • 13. The Effects Of Police Use Of Force Police use of force in America has been and still is a major area of concern to the American public. The media seemingly never runs out of stories and cases to push into the mainstream for the public to watch and develop more concern for this area of law enforcement. Furthermore, there is a portion of the population who believe that the use of force by law enforcement is disproportionately used on minorities more specifically the African American community (Kolhatkar, 2017). However, is this use of force epidemic a reality in both of these cases? Another use of force issue is the use of lethal force by law enforcement officers. Again the argument seen in the media and social media is often that there is a large portion of lethal force that is used on minorities as compared to Caucasian individuals (Lowery, 2016). Additionally, that the use of lethal force should be avoided and in other cases being used in excess (The Guardian, 2017). Current research in the field of police use of force and police use of lethal force in relationship towards race is going to be reviewed in order to show a broader picture that is more representative of the real issues. The Numbers The numbers in police use of force vary depending on what measures are used. Was the force reasonable or unreasonable or was force used improperly is just a few. Now, I can say with certainty, in the light of what I have learned thus far that I am a compassionate leader who wants the best out of my followers by minimizing their threat responses. I am relatively transparent, love my relative importance in comparison to others and love to have autonomy. Because, I naturally gravitated towards non violent communication base on my MBTI preference, I tend to extend empathy in my dealing with people and give them the preferences with which I would like to be given. This have a side effect, which in my experience appears to paint me as a weak leader who carries almost all the burden in a sacrificial way just not to offend my subordinates. • 18. Humor And Its Relationship With Positive Life Outcomes Humor has been said to play a large role in our everyday lives, including having an impact on ones well being; mainly influencing their level of self esteem. Humor is often seen as a coping mechanism for dealing with stressful events throughout a person s lifetime (Stieger, Formann, Burger, 2011). For some time there has been the circulating idea that humor is directly related to positive life outcomes, but has been supported with very limited empirical evidence (Vaughan, Zeigler Hill, Arnau, 2014). This view is often encrypted in the minds of general society because of the constant use of jokes and sayings that acknowledge the use of humor as a way to deal with life s current circumstances; using humor as a means to cope (Leist Müller, 2013). The problem with this view is that it does not consider that there are multiple styles of humor that can affect its relationship with positive life outcomes (Vaughan et al., 2014). Contemporary research suggests that sense of humor is a multidimensional personality construct consisting of both [two] adaptive and [two] maladaptive styles (Kirsh, 2005). Based on this prior research there are four distinct styles of humor which are defined as being a person s habitual conduct or use of humor in daily life, that is his or her typical stable pattern of humor behaviours and attitudes (Beermann, 2014). The two adaptive styles are: (1) self enhancing humor, which is the use of personal humor to make oneself laugh and uplift your ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 19. Plot in Their Eyes Were Watching God by Hurston Zora All of this takes place in a rural town of West Florida called Eatonville in the early twentieth century. I was amazed at the story, symbols and images that this novel creates. The symbolism and metaphorical language used also brought interest and an urge to want to read more. In the novel Their eyes were watching God by Hurston Zora, Janie Crawford is a black middle aged woman who has an intriguing story to tell. She has been away from her home town for few years and comes back to be welcomed by harsh and barely near factual gossip and criticism. In life, criticism is inevitable like death, whether it s positive or negative. What I found interesting is how Janie brushes off and takes no offense to the harsh gossip from her neighbors when she returned. The reason for that is because Janie left and found herself, she has lived life, got married a couple of times and know what life is outside of her town. She knew what love was and also knew what it felt like to be happy and hurt. Janie Crawford experienced things that any of the females who gossiped about her hasn t. The story of her life begins to unfold as she sits with Phoebe Watson, her friend for decades that brought her some mullato rice. I think Phoebe shows signs of hypocrisy because although she defended Janie when the other women spoke badly about her, prior to Janie s arrival she accompanied these women daily as they gossiped about other people. • 20. Essay On Social Cognitive Theory Social Cognitive Theory Social Cognitive Theory (SCT) evolved from the Social Learning Theory (SLT) in the sixties under the stewardship of Albert Bandura. However, it was in 1986 that the SCT achieved full recognition. The theory argues that learning takes place in a social context with a reciprocal and dynamic manner involving the environment, person, and behavior (LaMorte, 2016). One main unique feature of the SCT is that it puts a lot of emphasis on social influence, as well as, the social reinforcement at both internal and external levels. Not only does SCT put into consideration the distinct manner in which human beings acquire and use behavior, but it also considers the social environment people perform such behaviors. The theory ... The consequences of individuals behavior help him or her to learn, which extends to also affect the environment in which they leave. People learn from the consequences of their behavior, which also affects the environment in which they live. The concept of Observational Learning asserts that individuals are able to observe and witness a behavior from others, and then replicate the same actions and it is exhibited through behavior modeling (LaMorte, 2016). Individuals are adaptive and if they see a specific behavior in an individual, they are likely to embrace it. According to LaMorte (2016), Reinforcements as a concept of the SCT are a reflection of both the external and internal responses to an individual s behavior, which affect the likelihood of continuity or discontinuity of such a behavior. While the individual can initiate reinforcements or it can be emulated from the prevailing environment, it can be either positive or negative. The construct connects well the reciprocal relationship between the environment and behavior. On the other hand, the Expectations concept is best used to describe the anticipated ... • 21. The Genocide Of The Rwanda Essay In 1994, Rwanda was a situation of hatred and revenge tailored by European influence that mixed together to form the recipe for Genocide. Classical control of third world nations and exploitation by the west is nothing new. In Africa, the direction of the government is often manipulated by countries that have had historical control over them. The Genocide of Rwanda was a transfer of position that placed the Hutu people in a seat of power over the former rulers, which were the Tutsis elite. This shift in power led to the division of a nation, evolving propaganda, and a psychological approach used to create a genocide. In the early history of Rwanda, there lie differences in people, but peace among the populace was always upheld in the eyes of the Tutsis. In the opinion of the Hutu, they recall being subjugated beneath the mwami , the Tutsis elite. In the precolonial times, the Hutu and Tutsis were called a collective name, the Banyarwanda, which was the term for people of Rwanda. Germany gained control of the region in 1885 and governed their region through the mwami . An English man named John Hanning Speke gave a hardline separation of the two people that would be echoed by the Belgians and the Hutus later into the 20th century. The term Hamitic hypothesis stated that the origins of the Hutu and Tutsis were that of a leader and servant. President Nasser wanted to get Palestine back into the Arab control and to do this he had to unite the Arab world under his control. In order to get what he wanted Nasser needed money and arms. Czechoslovakia was giving aid in the form of money and weaponry to the Egyptians. The reason they did this was because they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... President Nasser also persuaded King Hussein of Jordan to help the Fedayeen by allowing them to go through Jordanian territory, to carry out their attacks. The west were frightened of losing their influence in the Middle East and thus they, along with Israel, decided to make a joint attack on Egypt. This factor therefore led to great conflicts between the Arabs and Israelis. b) Choose one factor which you think was the most important in causing the war. (9 marks) From the list of factors given, I consider that the Russian foreign policy was the most important in causing the wars in 1956, 1967 and 1973 between the Arab s and Israelis. During the Arab Israeli conflict, the world s two greatest super powers , USA and the USSR were in a cold war against each other. Since they were bitter enemies, it is evident that once the USSR found out that the USA were helping Israel in the war, it decided to help the Arabs in rivalry. The Suez Sinai war in 1956 was when the USSR first helped the Arabs by providing them with military arms and equipment. Since Czechoslovakia was under the influence of the USSR and it was the main country to provide the Arab world with fighter planes, warships, bombers, tanks and guns, it was seen as though the USSR were directly providing help for the Arabs. It can be seen that without all the USSR s military ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 40. Mary Queen Of Scots By William Shakespeare Mary I of England, not to be confused with her cousin Mary Queen of Scots, is most commonly referred to as one of the most, if not the most vicious and blood thirsty monarchs in English history and few of them have been given reputations as infamous as hers. Mary was obsessed with the quest to return England from the Protestant Church of England to its Catholic tradition during her three year reign as Queen of England. Mary s insistence on creating a Catholic English nation stemmed from resentment held for her father King Henry VIII s decision to break away and create his own religion, harboring the Reformation period. These reforms were ultimately reversed under Mary, who was determined to achieve her goals at any cost. Mary was not afraid to remove anyone who stood in her path of reform. Fueled by her loyalty and love for the Catholic Church, Mary s reputation and legacy of Bloody Mary was created as she sought to create her Catholic nation, at the expense of the hundreds of Protestants that were murdered under her reign. Born on February 18, 1516, Mary Tudor was the fifth child but the only child of Henry Tudor VIII and his first wife Catherine of Aragon who survived to live until adulthood (Doran). She was baptized soon after her birth and was raised in the Catholic tradition of her mother. Mary was sent off by her father to live in Wales, and was constantly set up for marriages with princes and other nobility. She was taught by an English tutor was a prolific student ... • 41. Management Styles Analysis Management Styles Management is a far running subject and there are many definitions of management. From my point of view, management is described as a process to get something done in the business environment. It is the person called Manager who gets various jobs done by assign works to people working with him/her. How the Manager can get the things done effectively and efficiently is an important problem that should be researched. Robert Tannenbaum and Warren H. Schmidt (1958, 1973), who argued that the style of leadership is dependent upon the prevailing circumstance, therefore leaders should exercise a range of management styles and deploy them as appropriate. In fact, a management style is an overall method of leadership used by a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Apart from culture and law, different business customs also can influence management styles. Business custom is part of a nation s culture. It has been formed in a long time, maybe several decades, several countries, or even thousands years such as China and Japan. The custom includes how to manage enterprise, how to treat customers, how to get along with leaders and subordinates. Different countries and economic systems have different answers and standards. For example, in China, face issue is important for individuals in traditional custom. And appreciation or encouragements should be made before any criticism. If managers point out employees mistake in front of other workers directly, the employee might feel ashamed and reluctant to cooperate with the manager in future, which surely will bring barriers to management. There are also various customs in different regions, management styles are also changing according to such differences. I would like to take Japan and the US as examples to discuss how these key factors, culture, policy, and customs influence management styles in specific circumstances. Obviously, Japan and the US display an obvious contrast in the aspect of culture, society and ideology, etc. I would like to discuss the features of Japan and the US at first. First of all, the US is a nation with a large number of immigrants, which determines that its national culture is identified with individualism. As is known to all, the US is ... • 42. Early Elementary Students Word Knowledge Introduction Researchers suggest that early elementary students word knowledge is a determining factor of reading comprehension both in early elementary school and throughout their schooling (Juel Deffes, 2004). Specifically, one such argument is, Vocabulary is an increasingly important predictor of reading comprehension in higher grades. It is a strong predictor of fourth grade reading achievement and the main predictor by seventh or eighth grade. By the middle elementary grades, 95% of kids can read more words than they can understand. From third grade on the main limiting factor for the majority of children is vocabulary, not reading mechanics (Kame enui Baumann, 2012, p. 34). While the relationship between vocabulary and reading comprehension appears to be established, determining which instructional methods to effectively increase students word knowledge and comprehension is vitally important. Statement of the Problem Reading comprehension requires understanding the meanings of words, sentences, and texts. Vocabulary refers to the knowledge of lexical meanings of words and the concepts connected to these meanings. Differences in the size of vocabulary have an effect on word recognition as well as reading comprehension (Arrnoutse, Van Leeuwe, Voeten, Oud, 2001). Vocabulary is a principle contributor to fluency, comprehension, and achievement (Bromley, 2007, p. 522). However, the key question is, does vocabulary instruction improve reading ... Glorification of Masculinity in The Lost World The male ego and the fulfillment of a man s own image of himself can be strong motivating forces behind his actions and behaviors. Society has created parameters used to define a real man; failing to live up to these specifications threatens one s masculinity and standing amongst one s peers. These expectations and requirements for manhood are constantly reinforced by society. The prevailing stereotype of the classic Marlboro Man along with movie heroes such as James Bond, Indiana Jones, and John Wayne give the impression of the adventurous ladies man who laughs in the face of danger and can do no wrong. • 45. Sexism In Epic Of Gilgamesh The world is still sexist. Barbara Broccoli. From the creation story to modern day, women and men still struggle with a power dynamic of inferiority and superiority. The problem of sexism has been ever present throughout history, and although it has been acknowledged by many, it has not been eradicated or resolved. Although the acknowledgment of sexism has grown over the course of the modern era, it is heavily rooted in society s developmental process, which makes it continuously difficult to annihilate. Furthermore, throughout many historical texts, women are often represented as objects instead of real people. Within texts, such as the Epic of Gilgamesh, the Bible, the Quran, and the Torah, women are constantly regarded as inferiors instead of equals with men. Throughout these texts, there is a clear separation between the treatment of men and women, with women always being referred to as property. The Epic of Gilgamesh contains several instances where women are regarded as objects that solely provide men with pleasure, specifically with the story of Shamat and Enkidu. In the beginning of the epic, the story is introduced with the creation of Enkidu and his transformation into a human being; a vital part of Enkidu s transformation being a woman named Shamat. Shamat acts as the bait or lure that leads Enkidu out of his animalistic lifestyle, and causes him to become human. In order to do so, Shamat is told to do sexual acts that will arouse Enkidu. For example, the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In 1998, Barbara Ehrenreich, a bestselling author of sixteen books, starts an experiment and goes undercover as a minimum wage worker and giving herself a little over one thousand dollars to start with. Her experiment was to prove to the higher class of society that it is impossible for single mothers to survive while work at a minimum wage job and trying to provide for her children s needs. July of 2006, Adam Shephard, a 2006 college graduate who had read Ehrenreich s perspective on minimum wage jobs for single mothers, decides to try the experiment out for himself with less ... An attitude can say a lot about a person, and in Nickel and Dimed , Barbara Ehrenreich s attitude about her jobs and bosses seemed to be negative most of the time, making me lose interest and feel hopeless about my own future. When in Minnesota while working at Wal mart, Ehrenreich exclaims, [...] the last thing I want to see is a customer riffling around, disturbing the place (166). Ehrenreich complains again, [...] plenty of other people work here during the day. [...] it s after 10:00 and I ve got another cart full of returns to go, and wouldn t it make more sense if we both worked on the carts, instead of zoning the goddamn T shirts? (168). Reading about the many negative experiences that Ehrenreich had, has made me less excited for life after graduation and more worried about not enjoying the career I have chosen to go to school for. On Feb. 3, 1963, the ship sent a radio report that placed it 230 miles southeast of New Orleans, La., according to a report by Time Magazine. Then nothing. There was no SOS and no warning of trouble. The ship simply disappeared. Two weeks later, pieces of a raft, a life vest and a broken oar washed up on Florida beaches. An investigation launched by the Coast Guard shortly after the disappearance concluded that the vessel was nowhere near seaworthy and likely caught fire at sea. Such a conclusion was not far fetched. According to the article, once, the Queen actually sailed into a New Jersey port with fires smoldering, unloaded her cargo, and sailed off again still burning.
