Jp Morgan In The 20th Century
In the 20th Century there was many important people who changed the way the America is today.
John Pierpont Morgan once said, If you have to ask how much it costs, you can t afford it. It is
assumed amongst most people that John never had to ask the price of anything because he had so
much money. J.P. Morgan was a significant figure in America s 20th Century because of his role in
saving the economy, funding huge companies and creating a wealthy bank that is still around today. In
this world it is hard to make yourself somebody important if you don t come from the right
background. Well the Morgan family was always wealthy. J.P. was born into the home of Junius and
Juliet Morgan in Connecticut. He grew up with three siblings, two sisters and one brother (J.P.
Morgan). J.P. attended high school in Boston and after graduation went to Europe. He knew one day
he wanted to take his father s business over, so he went abroad to learn German and French to be able
to expand his future business to the global scale. John married a woman abroad who was bound to die
of tuberculosis 4 months later, and then married Frances Tracy after her ... Show more content on

Morgan has even impacted acts that saved the government many times all because Morgan gave them
the idea. Congress knew that Morgan and his money wouldn t be around forever so they had to make
an act that would make sure they had their own money to secure the Stock Market in the future if
similar situations were to arise. Morgan also bought unsafe rifles from the government, reconditioned
them and sold them back to the government for a huge profit. These rifles were then used in the Civil
War. If Morgan hadn t given the Government safe and technological rifles then the outcome of the
Civil War could ve been different. They might not have been able to defeat the South with
unconditioned and unsafe rifles (Cross, Mary). J.P. Morgan played a major role in saving 20th century
America from many catastrophic

Conflict Theory In Social Work
Social workers can utilize conflict theory in their everyday work within their communities. Conflict
theory has central propositions that suggest conflict generates social change. According to Karl Marx,
conflict is desirable because it propels social action against oppression . It is important for us as social
workers to have a greater understanding of how the political economy shapes our lives, our
consciousness and our opportunities (Robbins et al., 2011). Conflict theories offer several explanations
for what occurs in our society. Marx believed that conflict arises from inequalities from social class
differences. Marcuse believed that advances in technology also brought on new forms of oppression
and domination which lead to persons

Essay On The Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire
Week Three Essay: The Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire On March twenty fifth, in the year nineteen
hundred and eleven, over one hundred and forty workers lost their lives in the deadliest factory fire in
American history, when a fire destroyed the Asch Building which housed the Triangle Waist
Company, a clothing manufacture in lower Manhattan, New York City, New York (osha.gov, 2011).
The fire killed mostly young women, some of them as young as fifteen, who were paid only six
dollars a week at that time, and were expected to work over thirteen hours a day, up to seven days a
week (aflcio.org, 2017). The fire caused some major reforms and outcry for changes in, which can all

This commission helped usher in much needed changes on the labor side, which after a few years
developed into the New York State Department of Labor (aflcio.org, 2017). The fire also helped fire
departments not only in New York City, but all over the Nation at that time, make changes to how they
operate. The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), which was founded in eighteen ninety six,
declared at its annual meeting right after the fire, to all departments nation wide, how important fire
drills were to life safety (Teague Farr, 2009). A few years later the NFPA formed the Committee on
Safety to Life to help with fire codes, regulations and departments. Several years after its
development, they adopted revised specifications to fire escapes, and worked on specific regulations
to exits to buildings and the Building Exit Codes (Teague Farr, 2009). All of their work helped bring
items like fire drills, egress from buildings, sprinklers, fire escapes, and other building code changes.
Fire Departments all over the Nation were also helped and their eagerness to improve and update their
equipment to meet the needs of a changing, and more industrialized and upward bound Nation took

Attachment In Psychology
In Essentials of Psychology, attachment is a term that is defined as the intense emotional connection
shared between a child and their predominant caretaker. Attachment can be classified into two
different types: secure or insecure attachment. If the bond shared between both the the predominant
caregiver and child is secure, then the child believes that they are worthy of the love they receive and
they are able to trust their caregivers as a result. On the other hand, if the bond formed is an insecure
attachment, then the child feels as though they do not deserve the love they are be given and they can t
trust anyone. I agree with the concept that is attachment because I believe that the relationships

Business Laws And Ethic Hinder Your Company s Economic...
When deciding where in the world it is best to start a potential business or form a mutually beneficial
merger; What factors do you consider? Do you wonder if your own societal rules, customs and values
will clash with those of your new place of business? Would potential countries business laws and ethic
hinder your company s economic growth; or will those laws provide you aid. There are a number of
factors one needs to consider when deciding where to move or start your business, these are but a few.
1. Societal customs and values
China is a diverse country well known for its traditions and work ethic. Their culture focuses on the
wellbeing of the group over that of the individual; as such, they as a culture are very hard working and
will often go above and beyond the call of duty. Heavy emphasis is placed on integrity and formality
particularly those involving socializing. Introductions in china are as integral if not more than in the
united states; careful attention must be placed in how one approaches and introduces themselves lest
they make faux pas. In China rules concerning social etiquette forms not only the basis for propriety,
but also basis for many for their traditions. In a country who believes that all that swims, crawls,
slimes and walks is food; it is not surprising how large a role how food is eaten plays into the culture.

The Legal Principles Of The Case Of Salomon V. Salmon And...
The legal principle on company law established by the case Salomon v Salomon Co Ltd is that a
company upon incorporation is a body corporate which is recognized by law to have a separate legal
entity from its members and officers. The company and members are two separate bodies. This is
known as the veil of incorporation. Thus, the debts of the company cannot be recovered from its
members. For example, the debts of the company cannot be recovered from its member. Rather than
the director or its member, a company is normally liable for any breach by itself. A company is an
artificial legal person that exists independently of the individuals who at any given time are the
members of the corporate body. In the case of Salomon V Salomon Co Ltd, even though Salomon
managed the business solely by himself, yet in law Salomon and the company is separate body as the
company has incorporated.
As a legal entity by itself, company can:
1. Enjoy perpetual existence and has its own legal personality.
2. Has its own legal personality.
3. Is separate from its members and officers and the change of its members and officers does not affect
its legal personality.
4. Sue and be sued in its own name.
5. Deal with property itself.

Niki Caro s Techniques In Whale Rider
In the prominent historical movie Whale Rider directed by Niki Caro, she wished to convey the
immensely significant idea that anybody should be able to be a leader, male or not. She wanted people
to realise all of the females that ve been misused in this society because they are not good enough for
power roles. Caro used a variety of techniques to help the reader understand this idea. These include:
Voice over, close up shot and dialogue. The significant idea in this movie that anybody should be able
to be a leader, male or not, that means that the leader should not necessarily have to be a male it can be
a female too, because females are equally competent and can be just as proficient at being a leader as
males can. For example, in this movie 12 year old Paikea Apirana was far from what he Grandfather,
Koro Apirana, wanted for a leader for his traditional Māori tribe (Ngati Konohi) because of one thing,
she was a girl. She would be a perfect leader, she was smart, charismatic, determined, courageous,
fluent in Te Reo Māori and strong. These attributes are present throughout the story and is displayed in
many different scenes in the movie. But just because of the simple fact that she is born female she is
constrained with her opportunities. One of the first techniques ... Show more content on

FALL 2015 Case Study Week 5: Winston Churchill
In 1946, Winston Churchill gave his speech that is known as The Iron Curtain , to announce the
beginning of the Cold War. The Iron Curtain consists of blocking the Soviet Union s ideals, politics
and military away from Europe. The Soviet Union valued communist ideals and a dictatorship. After
World War II, the United States became a pillar for the ideals of capitalism and democracy. The
Communist ideals imposed by Soviet Union expansion could threat the West because they go against
Western s morals. The United States has a history of fighting for freedom, for the ability of people to
actively participate in the government and for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, with government owned companies and limited opening for trade, Communist countries
treat the philosophy of free markets in the West, which could put a hold on many of the transactions
with Europe. The ideologies also conflicted in the sense of military goals. For the United States, the
goal was to protect democracy, a concept believed to be the best outcome for countries. Britain and the
United States wanted to help Germany recover from the war, and worried that Communism would
spread throughout Europe. The Soviet Union, on the other hand, wanted to spread Communist values
and gain allies in Europe to protect the Soviet Union against future invasions.
Churchill refers to the fact that the Soviet Union needs to secure its borders. His intentions were to say
that the Soviet Union had the right to want protection against a possible German aggression. He also
welcomed and recognized that the Soviet Union is among one of the most powerful nations of the
world, but it should not enforce it through military expansion and imposing a dictatorship system.
Churchill wanted to ask the Soviet Union politely to stop imposing its ideals and military intervention

Modernism In A Raisin In The Sun By F. Scott Fitzgerald
Modernism is described as an early twentieth century philosophical movement that disconnects from
old traditional habits, resulting in a search for contemporary thought and expression. Lorraine
Hansberry s 1950s play A Raisin in the Sun is a story of the Youngers, an African American family
living on Chicago s South Side. In the play, Lena Younger, the eldest of the family, decides to use a
small portion of her husband s insurance check to buy a house so that the family can comfortably live
in the suburbs. Another important text is F. Scott. Fitzgerald s 1925 novel The Great Gatsby. The novel
takes place in 1922 Long Island, New York. The novel is centered around Jay Gatsby, an
extraordinarily wealthy man who holds a nostalgic love for Daisy Buchanan. Nick is identified as the
narrator in the novel and from that, he is able to observe the extravagant parties, alcohol use, infidelity,
and failure to individuality and isolation in the characters. F. Scott. Fitzgerald s 1925 novel The Great
Gatsby, is a good example of modernism for it centers around the characters and their sense of
isolation. Lorraine Hansberry s 1950s play A Raisin in the Sun also identifies characteristics of
modernism through the everyday struggles of urban and industrial housing as well as segregation.
The play Raisin in the Sun by Lorraine Hansberry is identified as a modernist text for it challenges the
life of African American families living in an industrial environment. Walter and Beneatha s mother,

The Walmart Effect And The Big Thirst By Charles Fisher
Earth is filled with vast amounts of water, yet it s like a cruel joke to people who cannot drink it due to
its toxicity to us. Likewise, fresh water is our most precious resource that people depend on every day.
Our society is based around the use of large amounts of water in our everyday lives. Charles Fisher, a
three time winner of the Gerald Loeb award, a writer for the magazine Fast Company, and the author
of The Walmart Effect and The Big Thirst, tells a different story. In the article Will the World Run out
of Fresh Water, which explains that people take water for granted and never see its true value like
people in the past, published at the Detroit Greenhaven Press in 2012. Because we use vast amounts of
water and never see the process in which water is given to people, Fisherman proposes this idea that
water is taken for granted until we run out, which is more than true. Each day, our homes receive
gallons upon gallons of water for our living necessities to live a comfortable life. In the article Fisher
explains that at least in the developed world, we have gradually been able to stop thinking about water
. This is due to being around water all our lives. We have been conditioned from day one to believe
fresh water will never run out. Even our emotional connections to water have become submerged and
camouflaged , for example when a person in America sees someone spilling a cup of water on the
ground they do not even care to tell them they are being wasteful, which

Devotions In Catholic Religion
The Catholic Church has many devotions that popes, bishops, priests, deacons, and lay people say and
do in their everyday life. Devotions are practices of piety which is not part of the Liturgy of the
Church but is part of the spiritual practices of Catholics. Some examples of devotions Catholics
practice in their everyday lives are the Mass, the rosary, novenas, adoration in front of the Eucharist,
veneration to the saints, the Liturgy of the Hours, wearing scapulars and wearing medals, and many
others. Devotions are made to help people grow in their faith and love for Jesus.
The Liturgy of the Hours has three names. The three names are The Liturgy of the Hours, the Divine
Office, and the Breviary. The latin word for The Liturgy of the Hours is Liturgia Horarum. This
consists of mainly Psalms, added by hymns, readings, and other prayers. The Liturgy of the Hours is
the official prayer of the church, said many times in the day in order to sanctify it. Clergy and
religious officials have an obligation to say it because of the Canon Law as official representatives to
the church. The laity are expected to recite it whether it is with a priest, by themselves or with others.

The Exodus Of The Beginning Of Israel
Exodus marks the start of Israel as a people. They were an extended family, under a dynasty of strong
pharaohs. They oppressed Israel and put them to forced labor, for fear of their number size. Still, they
multiplied faster, therefore, a decree was issued to destroy them by ordering the death of all baby
boys.
At this particular time Moses was born, from the tribe of Levi. Although trained as the son of Pharaoh
s daughter, yet, his own mother was hired to care for him due to her placing him in the bulrushes at the
edge of the Nile River to not be destroyed because of Pharaoh s order to kill all baby boys. With his
mother caring for him, he grew up knowing the plight of his people. Many years passed approximately
80 when God appeared to Moses as a shepherd in Midian, in a burning bush and commanded him to
go return to Egypt to rescue the Israelites out of slavery.
From Egypt to Mt. Sinai
Moses was a new beginning for the Israelites. Moses was obedient to God and followed God s pattern
Romans 15:4; 1 Corinthians 10:1 11. He was also the forerunner (foreshadow of Christ) 2 Timothy 1:8
10. He was chosen by God to free Israel from Egypt Exodus 6:1 13. This was also the fourth
generation since Jacob Exodus 16 26.
The stage was set for Pharaoh to witness God s awesome power through Moses Exodus 7 9. Pharaoh
stubbornly refused to let God s people go due to God s hardening of his heart. However, God

The Campus Environment And Campus Life
Report 4:
INTRODUCTION
This report is about using reflexive photography to gain an understanding on how students feel about
the campus environment and campus life. It is to recreate a similar study made at the University
College of Fraser Valley (UCFV) which was used to provide recommendations to the university
policymakers regarding the planning and development of the institutions academics and physical
environment but we completed this in a much shorter period of time. It will be about how we feel
about the Penrhyn Road campus.
AIMS
We aim to use photography to describe and explore how representing Kingston university, what we
like about Kingston University, any improvements that can be made and other issues that came up. We
created this research project to understand a visual research method that allows an understanding of
how students behave and assign a meaning to the campus environment. We use photos as it was easy
to view and most of the students had a smartphone that is capable of taking photos. Also using photos
can have different interpretations depending on the viewer which may contrast against the person who
took the photo. We aim to find if there is any factor that may influence how students will view the
photos during the discussion and compare each other images and see why they have taken their own
images. It will provide an understanding on how we as students integrate within the Penrhyn Road
campus. It relates to symbolic interactionism. Symbolic

Miss Dior Advertising In Advertising
For many people in the world to see an advertisement and move past it because they find them rather
annoying has become the normalcy of today s society. However, if people actually paid attention to
those advertisements the readers would find that they think some of the ads should not have been
allowed. An ad for Miss Dior perfume was presented in a late issue of Vogue with a model who looks
to be about twenty four years old. The model has shoulder length blonde hair, a clear skin tone, and a
facial expression that could be considered provocative. The model is naked and only covered by a
dress that she holds up which still only covers a portion of her top, middle section, and private area.
Despite this dress, her complete right leg, thigh, arm, neck, and shoulders are revealed. In the
foreground is a Miss Dior perfume bottle with the words Miss Dior and you, what would you do for
love? . In Jean Kilbourne s Killing Us Softly 4, she states that advertisements often send certain
messages about women. Kilbourne claims that unrealistic ideas of women are often proposed within
ads, such as symbolizing women as objects and not people, or even the idea that if you are not
beautiful, then you are nothing. In the Dior advertisement, a few of its aspects uphold statements made
by Jean Kilbourne such as sexualizing models to sell a product, emphasizing the idea of looking
young and attractive, and placing models in vulnerable positions.

“Transactional vs. Relationship Selling”
1. Introduction:
The account relationship strategy a company chooses to follow represents the type of relationship, it is
going to develop towards its customers. Within the account relationship strategy, there are three
different kinds in which the relationship of you and your customer can be differentiated: The
transactional relationship, consultative relationship and enterprise relationship.
In my following term paper I would like to show you what the key elements of every relationship is
and for further explanation examples will document every relationship. At the end a real life example
will show an industry which is right now making a shift from transactional relationship selling to a
consultative approach.

But where they focus on is cost leadership, that s how they differentiate themselves from their
competitors. To achieve this goal of being a cost leader, a strict policy towards the number of
employees is of essential importance. So service personnel at Aldi markets isn t there to advise
customers, because they think their product portfolio is more or less self explanatory. Their function is
more to backfill stock at the market. They can give advise where certain products can be found but
real customer consulting does not take place. The relationship Aldi tries to build to its customers is not
through outstanding service performance, price and quality are the aspects which count for Aldi and
most of their customers. As already mentioned in the explanation of a transactional relationship, Aldi
is just operating at the B2C market, where a transactional relationship to your customers is wide
spread.
2.2. Consultative relationship
2.2.1. Definition and explanation The main difference here to a transactional relationship is the effort
which is done by supplier. If the demand of the customer is there, here a more detailed plan or more
personalized concept can be evaluated. This offer can create additional value and provides further
benefits, next to the product itself. The disadvantage of this type of relationship is the additional effort
which has to be done by the salesperson or the whole

Online Classroom Vs. Traditional Brick And Mortar Classroom
The first distinction between learning in an online classroom versus that of a traditional brick and
mortar classroom is that of time. Students log into their virtual classroom at times of their choosing to
learn and complete assignments. The virtual campus that we use has click functions that are set up like
a regular classroom. These functions mimic interactions between course facilitators and students in
traditional settings. V camp has an announcements section like a bulletin board on a campus. We
receive short notices from the facilitator such as reminders, updates to schedules or other need to
know information that doesn t require an email campaign from the faculty. The attend section allows
you watch your professor or facilitator deliver the lesson in lecture format. This, in particular, will
remind traditional learning students of sitting in a classroom. One thing that is good about a recorded
lecture is you can immediately replay a section that you failed to understand and gain the knowledge
that you require which may have been missed in a regular classroom setting. The profiles section
allows you meet your classmates and see if any live near you to see if you can study together. The
discuss section of the program lets you carry on open dialogue with your classmates. Each student is
required to answer the same question regarding a section of the course in a certain format and reply to

such eco regions require to be managed with special emphasis and consideration of its natural and
cultural resources. Land cover classification of such diverse sea land regions requires a high level of
effort and plays a vital role for the analysis of time based or event based change on certain areas. For
effective utilization of remote sensed images obtained from Earth orbiting satellites, a lot of image
classification methods are available in literature. In this paper, we use the method of unsupervised
classification for the users convenience and flexibility, low computational requirements and moderate
classification accuracy. The objectives of the paper is to classify the land cover by mapping the region
into W S V (Water, Soil, Vegetation) components using the unsupervised K means algorithm, to obtain
land use/cover gray scale image combining the W S V components and thereby finally deriving the

lost private sector contracts as a result. That is a prerogative reserved for private business. However,
the U.S. Supreme Court has ruled that such actions are stifling to free speech.
At his presidential campaign kickoff June 18, Trump said Mexican immigrants bring drugs into the
U.S. and they re bringing crime, they re rapists, and some, I assume, are good people. Some in the

Harvard law professor Alan Dershowitz declared the review plainly unconstitutional and not the
American way.
Eugene Volokh, a law professor at the University of California Los Angeles, characterized the mayor s
statement as a real danger to public debate. He noted that a pall could be cast over all city contractors
as a result of the review and any eventual contract cancellation. He paraphrased de Blasio s actions as
we don t want to renew it [a Trump contract] because we don t like your speech.
The free speech rights of government contractors were resolved in the landmark 1996 Umbehr case
before the United States Supreme Court. In a 7 2 decision, the majority of justices ruled that
government contractors could not have existing contracts revoked because someone did not thing they
may have said in public. In that case, a county in Kansas fired a contractor because he often criticized
a county board. The Court said his First Amendment right to speak freely was infringed when the
county retaliated in the cancellation of his

Gold Coast Beach Erosion
Statement of Findings
What is Erosion?__________________________________________________________________
The definition for erosion is the process of the surface of the Earth being worn down by natural causes
such as wind, waves and rain. A type of erosion that impacts on the Gold Coast is the coastal erosion.
Coastal erosion is the permanent loss of land along the shoreline. Erosion on Gold Coast beaches
occurs mostly to the sand on the beaches where the waves can easily erode away.
What causes Erosion?_____________________________________________________________

These sand dunes are important to the coastline and should be protected from these natural threats.
The dunes are important because it is used as a buffer against wave damages caused by storms,
cyclones, king tides, etc. which protects the land behind from salt water intrusions. The dunes also act
as a sand storage area to replenish and maintain the beach at times of erosion. Sand suns also provide
a foundation for ecosystems made up of a wide variety of coastal life.
(http://curiosity.discovery.com/question/why dunes coastal areas). Due to the sand dunes being swept
away by the cyclones and king tides all the protection that the dunes are providing to the inland is
slowly decreasing because of the erosion that the cyclones and king tides cause. The erosion effects
the foreshore most out of all the parts of the sand dunes. The foreshore is most affected because it is
where the waves are most frequently hitting that part of the sand dunes which means that erosion will
occur faster there. Due to the foreshore wearing away, sand from the foredune and interdune will
replace the sand that has been washed away which means that the establishments that are on the
interdune will begin to sink into the

Canadian Explorers
The explorers that partook in the great challenge of discovering what is now Canada, is a fascinating
and appealing topic for Canadian Historians. This essay will examine the lives of Jacques Cartier,
Henry Hudson, William Stuart, George Vancouver, and Sir Horatio Thomas Austin, who were all
Canadian explorers. The themes that are compared for each individual are areas of discovery, First
Nation contact, and life longevity and cause of death. Within the discussion, biographies of each
explorers will be found in the Dictionary of Canadian Biography Online, and the final source will be

Although, Hudson s whereabouts before 1607 are unknown, historians can still analysis the life events
during the known time of Hudson existence. Between 1607 and the year Hudson died, 1611, Bumsted
identifies three major event. The first of these events occurred in 1608 when Quebec gained the
resident buildings by Samuel de Champlin. Champlin established a new trading post on the St.
Lawrence and during the first year of building the new habitations, it went under attack. Fortunately,
the post lasted and in the progress, Champlin associated with the First Nations; however, this led the
French into violence against the Iroquois. During the same year, the outline of the arrangement to
colonize New France started. Second, in Newfoundland, the first English incomers settled in
Newfoundland in 1610. The arrival of the Europeans impacted the First Nations people greatly. The
impact that the diseases, such as measles, smallpox, typus, and typiod, altered the lives of the First
Nations people; Before the Europeans brought these disease to the continent of what is now Canada,
the First Nations people were not immune to them and it caused tremendous damage to their
communities. And finally, Frobisher s voyage to the Northwest Passage inspired the great explorer,
Henry Hudson. Within Bumsted, it mentions that Hudson was hired to explore the passage to Asia and
in the progress he ended entering the Hudson Bay. Bumsted also mentions that the exploration that
Hudson sailed was exceptional and it his search was a best known voyage In comparison to Bumsted,
Henry Hudson s biography references that he missed no prospect of landmarks on Quebec and the
Diggs Island into the Hudson Bay itself. The biography mentions that Hudson succeeded in setting the
further north record on his voyage, but the search for the Northeast Passage was not successful.

Desmin As A Type IIi Intermediate Filament Protein
Desmin: Its Role in Desminopathy
Introduction
Desmin is a type III intermediate filament protein that is muscle specific and is found in all muscle
types: smooth, cardiac, and skeletal. Autosomal dominant and autosomal recessive desmin gene
mutations affect desmin (DES) and oftentimes αβ crystallin (CRYAB), a chaperone for DES, which
leads to a type myofibrillar myopathy, known as desminopathy (Goldfarb et al., 2010). Desmin is the
most abundant IF protein in striated and smooth muscle cells and is one of the earliest markers of
muscle development (Clemen et al., 2012). Desmin filaments are mainly located at the periphery of Z
disk of striated muscles and at the dense bodies of smooth muscle cells, and they have been thought to
play a major role in the maintenance of structural and mechanical integrity of the contractile apparatus
in muscle tissues (Paulin Li, 2004). A dysfunctional desmin protein cannot properly interact with Z
discs, leading to abnormalities of sarcomere structure and problems with the formation of myofibrils
(NIH, 2016). The resulting pathology, desminopathy, is one of the most common intermediate
filament human disorders associated with mutations in closely interacting proteins (Goldfarb Dalakas,
2009). This condition is defined as skeletal and cardiac myopathy characterized by the presence of
chimeric aggregates in muscle fiber areas that consist of DES, CRYAB and other proteins (Goldfarb et
al., 2010). While a few desmin related

1) Would a school social worker in your city or town be legally justified in talking with a 14 year old

In Texas the social workers would have to allow the parent of the minor to know that the child wants t

I think that a social worker in this situation would have a lot to deal with because it would be hard for
him or her to meet the wants of the minor and still obey the law. In Texas social workers have to tell
the parent if they the child wants an abortion. I thought that it was also strange that the mother has to
go to at least two appointment before getting an abortion. I think that this law is suppose to help with
changing the person mind. Checking the student record to see if she had a social worker before is a
good idea because if she has you can go to that social workers and find a little more information about
the female. I would want to see her medical record first because, it will help me understand her past a
little more For example by looking at her medical records I can tell if she has had an abortion before,
or if she has a history of STDs. Looking at her medical records is a big help in this situation. Looking
at the family lifestyle of the pregnant minor would be a good help also. There are a lot of things that a

Knowing Where to Go in Your Pet s Time of Need
Have you prepared for what to do when your pet becomes ill? Who will you turn to in their time of
need? While these are thoughts that no one likes to think about, they are important considerations.
Being adequately prepared in your pet s time of need will save you time, money, and stress. Knowing
where to take your pet when they become ill will prevent unnecessary confusion and your beloved pet

Brief Examinations and Less Urgent Concerns
Veterinary clinics are most appropriate for minimal preventative care and less urgent concerns. They
are limited in the range of services they can provide and they are best used for minor procedures and
regular check up examinations.
Given that they have smaller teams and less access to laboratory equipment, clinics may take longer to
provide answers about your pet s condition. While they have the ability to make diagnoses, they
typically send their lab work to external sites. Therefore, clinics are not recommended for
emergencies, more thorough examinations, and intensive surgical procedures. Overall, clinics are most

An Overview and Commentary on Course Objectives Essay
Note to the reader: This essay is somewhat of an experiment. I am well aware of the standard
guidelines within which a student must present and argue ideas, and the implications of
nonconformity. However, if I have learned anything in this course, it is that genres and forms are
continually under scrutiny, being molded and changed, discarded and exchanged, for sake of efficacy,
veracity, adherence to ideology, or in reaction to otherwise unforeseen forces. Consider this as just
such a reaction; more accurately, it is my only recourse. In setting out to write this essay, I had a clear
objective. My task was to critically engage materials that were covered this term, and where possible

In a contemporary sense, there is an involvement between the reader and the text. This denies the
Formalist stance that the text is the sole source of meaning. Proponents of this theory fall onto a
spectrum, where at one pole the interpretive strategy of the reader entirely determines the text (Stanley
Fish), at the other pole is what falls into the realm of Formalism (text dominant), and in between is a
bi active stance, where the reader is both active and passive during the reading process (Wolfgang
Iser). Iser talks of an actual reader and an implied reader. The actual reader is one who brings to the
text all their knowledge and experience, what Barthes would term their déjà lu. The implied reader is
one which text itself attempts to shape or condition. For Iser, the reading process is one which is
gradually unfolding. The reader assimilates various facets of the text, and through this process dictates
(in part) the essence of the text. However, unlike some of Fish s earlier works where the reader is
effectively in creative control, Iser states the text imposes some constraints upon the reader. The
reader cannot make the text mean what they like, as the text provides a skeleton of meanings, norms,
and values that shape and control the reader s response. Thus, the convergence of text and reader
brings the literary work into existence (Iser 189). He goes on further to state that the text provokes
certain expectations which in

Human Ipsc Line, 201b7 Clone Essay
1. The source of the iPSC s in this case study are human iPSC line 201B7 clone . They are dermal
fibroblast tissues that in previous studies have been shown to have low tumorigenicity (meaning they
have a low ability to produce tumors) after being used in transplantation therapy.
2. The iPSC s were different from the host cells because a piggyBac vector was introduced into the
hiPSC. A piggyBac vector is a genetic element that literally does what it sounds like, gives a
piggyback between vectors and chromosomes, and cuts genes, carries them, and pastes them into a
new position. This specific piggyBac vector used to distinguish the host cells from the iPSC s stably
expressed GFP (green fluorescent protein) gene under a ubiquitous promoter. The promoter was EF1
(elongation factor used to push gene expression in vitro and in vivo). The authors knew their
transplantations of iPSC s were successful because once the cells were introduced they observed
continuous GFP fluorescence. The GFP fluorescence was observed even after differentiation of neural
linage.
3. iPSC s were differentiated into neural stem cells by using SMAD pathway inhibition. Green
fluorescent proteins were labeled iPSC, and then a serum free floating culture of embryoid body like
aggregates method was combined with the SMAD pathway. These methods stimulated the LIF/BMP
signaling. Leukemia inhibitory factor and bone morphogenic protein both promote neural cell

During the 1930s there were only 2 main political figures for Canada and those 2 figures were William
Lyon Mackenzie King the grandson of William Lyon Mackenzie and the second leader being R.B
Bennett a powerful business man during the 1920s. Both very distinguished leaders had their own
ideas for Canada but which one of these men handled the position better? During the 20s William
Lyon Mackenzie King was in power and he did quite a good job with his policies to help the farmers
after the first world war and many other policies that he instated during the time. The trouble began
when the 1930s hit. This time is commonly referred to as the great depression or the stock market

The Collapse Of The Housing Crisis
Economists cite a plethora of reasons on why the Global Financial Crisis started. However, most
economists can agree that the bursting of the U.S housing bubble, irresponsibility practiced by
regulators and financiers, greed of banks, lack of leadership from central banks, complex chains of
debt, and the credit crunch led to what is referred to as the largest crisis since the Great Depression.
The collapse of the housing bubble, which peaked in 2004, in the United States is usually cited as the
initial trigger of the crisis. The beginning of the bubble was due to the readily available credit in the
U.S. that was fueled by a large influx of foreign funds following the Russian debt crisis and Asian
financial crisis. This led to a boom in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Slumps in value made it difficult for banks to sell assets at almost any price or use them as collateral
for short term funding. Real estate prices also plummeted, and interest rates rose sharply from 1% to
5.35%. The devaluation of homes caused them to be worth less than their mortgage loan, giving
consumers an incentive to foreclose on their mortgages. In addition, homeowners that were barely
able to afford mortgage payments while interest rates were low were suddenly slapped in the face with
the hike in interest rates, which also caused them to default on their mortgages. This phenomenon,
dubbed the foreclosure epidemic , drained wealth from other consumers and weakened the financial
strength of banks. Banks and investors that had borrowed and invested heavily in subprime mortgage
backed securities also incurred significant amounts of debt or losses with the burst of the housing
bubble, adding to the severity with which the collapse of this credit driven bubble affected the world
economy. With the collapse the housing bubble and the value of asset prices, banks began to doubt the
viability of their counterparties. Without trust, which is the ultimate glue of all financial systems,
banks stopped lending, which is the exact opposite of what banks are supposed to do. For example, the

At first glance this book may seemed like just a collection of letters, songs, and inventory lists, but
shortly after entering the first chapter it was abundantly clear that the title is very misleading. Laundry
list s and love songs are but a minuscule, compared to the ample supply of translations that the author
Andrea McDowell has implemented into this collection. Village Life in Ancient Egypt was published
in 1999 by Oxford University Press, A well known source of educational publications. McDowell uses

characters identities become more and more permanent and unchangeable. Soon Inez, Garcin, and

other s interrogating eye, Garcin is unwillingly admitting his gradual loss of his vision of himself. He
is being engulfed by Inez s and Estelle s opinion of him. As soon as Garcin feels his essence and
individuality slipping away, he begins to rely on Estelle to cure his loneliness and to give him solidity.
He demands that Estelle give him her complete trust (Sartre 36) and constant love (Sartre 36). Garcin

the changes in the elements that determine the industry competition in agribusiness sector.
Most of the research on the usage of Information Systems in Agribusiness doesn t focus on the
coordination issues. Take Porter s Value Chain concept as an example for this. It doesn t focus on the
role that technology plays in improving coordination among market players. Rather, it focuses on how
information technologies can be made use of to lower the costs, differentiating the products and/or
increasing the barriers for entering. Konsynski and McFarlan are researching on competitiveness to
link coordination and Information Technology issues. The explored different information partnerships
among market players, by focusing on the non food sector, which allows efficient and productive
coordination. In this paper, Streeter and Hudson applied this Konsynski McFarlan framework to the
agribusiness and food sector to identify various partnerships.

For my dance history lineage project, I chose three different choreographers who helped each other in

Roman Republic And The Instigation Of The Roman Empire
Born in 100 BC by most accounts, Julius Caesar was a key figure in the Roman Republic and the
instigation of the Roman Empire. By this time, Rome was the largest city in the world, with almost
half a million citizens residing in its walls (Goldsworthy 19). Caesar s birth was claimed to be a
Caesarian section, a birth considered to be a bad omen in Ancient Rome. He was the only son in his
family, which gave him the responsibility of carrying out the family line, raising a new and more
powerful generation. This position of power was handed to him quite soon, at the age of sixteen, when
his father collapsed and died. He would soon after marry Cornelia, the daughter of Cinna, one the
most powerful men in Rome at the time after serving on consul for four consecutive years (49). Caesar
began a military service years later, which was considered a beginning to his career in the public eye.
He won consulship in Rome for the year 75 BC and, being a master orator, gave an impressive speech
that made the crowd remember his reputation (72 73). In 70 BC, Caesar, age thirty, had been married
for fifteen years to Cornelia. They had a daughter, Julia, but no male heir and no desire to have
another child. He adopted Augustus Caesar, his great nephew, to compensate for the problem. In late
70 BC, he was also elected as one of the twenty of the quaestors, the public officials who supervised

The polymer owes its high strength to the many inter chain bonds. These inter molecular hydrogen
bonds form between the carbonyl groups and NH centers. Additional strength is derived from aromatic
stacking interactions between adjacent strands. These interactions have a greater influence on Kevlar
than the van der Waals interactions and chain length that typically influence the properties of other
synthetic polymers and fibers (Wikipedia). Therefore its main strength comes from the intermolecular
bonds and stacking of the material. Even though Kevlar is a very strong material, it is yet very light
considering the high strain it can handle. As this source claims Their high strength to weight ratio and

Similarities Between Marionettes Inc. And Dark They Were...
Ray Bradbury is an exceptionally great writer, who has written countless stories including The
Martian Chronicles and Fahrenheit 451 . Bradbury was born in Waukegan, Illinois in 1920 and at age
14 moved to Los Angeles. In 1937 he joined a SciFi league and had his first book published at the age
of 18. He often writes about nostalgia for childhood, social criticism, and the hazards of runaway

describe characters. What these characters show is that to describe Bradbury s preferred way to
describe protagonists is through indirect characterization. Bradbury describes his antagonists is

developed conscious and is capable independent thoughts. Eventually, he grows feelings for Mrs.
Braling and rebels against Mr. Braling .Two lines from the story demonstrate this, when it states, I m
afraid you don t understand. I think I m in love with her. (Marionettes, Inc. 220). Also, the story says,
A metal firm grip seized his wrist. Don t run! (Marionettes, Inc. 221). Two key aspects of Braling 2 is
that he is a loving man, he falls in love with Mrs. Braling. On the other hand, Braling 2 is

John Pierpont Morgan once said, If you have to ask how much it costs, you can t afford it. It is assumed amongst most people that John never had to ask the price of anything because he had so much money. J.P. Essay On The Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire Week Three Essay: The Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire On March twenty fifth, in the year nineteen hundred and eleven, over one hundred and forty workers lost their lives in the deadliest factory fire in American history, when a fire destroyed the Asch Building which housed the Triangle Waist Company, a clothing manufacture in lower Manhattan, New York City, New York (osha.gov, 2011). The fire killed mostly young women, some of them as young as fifteen, who were paid only six dollars a week at that time, and were expected to work over thirteen hours a day, up to seven days a week (aflcio.org, 2017). This commission helped usher in much needed changes on the labor side, which after a few years developed into the New York State Department of Labor (aflcio.org, 2017). The fire also helped fire departments not only in New York City, but all over the Nation at that time, make changes to how they operate. The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), which was founded in eighteen ninety six, declared at its annual meeting right after the fire, to all departments nation wide, how important fire drills were to life safety (Teague Farr, 2009). Niki Caro s Techniques In Whale Rider In the prominent historical movie Whale Rider directed by Niki Caro, she wished to convey the immensely significant idea that anybody should be able to be a leader, male or not. She wanted people to realise all of the females that ve been misused in this society because they are not good enough for power roles. Caro used a variety of techniques to help the reader understand this idea. These include: Voice over, close up shot and dialogue. The significant idea in this movie that anybody should be able to be a leader, male or not, that means that the leader should not necessarily have to be a male it can be a female too, because females are equally competent and can be just as proficient at being a leader as males can. For example, in this movie 12 year old Paikea Apirana was far from what he Grandfather, Koro Apirana, wanted for a leader for his traditional Māori tribe (Ngati Konohi) because of one thing, she was a girl. She would be a perfect leader, she was smart, charismatic, determined, courageous, fluent in Te Reo Māori and strong. Likewise, fresh water is our most precious resource that people depend on every day. Our society is based around the use of large amounts of water in our everyday lives. Charles Fisher, a three time winner of the Gerald Loeb award, a writer for the magazine Fast Company, and the author of The Walmart Effect and The Big Thirst, tells a different story. In the article Will the World Run out of Fresh Water, which explains that people take water for granted and never see its true value like people in the past, published at the Detroit Greenhaven Press in 2012. Because we use vast amounts of water and never see the process in which water is given to people, Fisherman proposes this idea that water is taken for granted until we run out, which is more than true. Each day, our homes receive gallons upon gallons of water for our living necessities to live a comfortable life. In the article Fisher explains that at least in the developed world, we have gradually been able to stop thinking about water . This is due to being around water all our lives. We have been conditioned from day one to believe fresh water will never run out. Even our emotional connections to water have become submerged and camouflaged , for example when a person in America sees someone spilling a cup of water on the ground they do not even care to tell them they are being wasteful, which ... Autosomal dominant and autosomal recessive desmin gene mutations affect desmin (DES) and oftentimes αβ crystallin (CRYAB), a chaperone for DES, which leads to a type myofibrillar myopathy, known as desminopathy (Goldfarb et al., 2010). Desmin is the most abundant IF protein in striated and smooth muscle cells and is one of the earliest markers of muscle development (Clemen et al., 2012). Desmin filaments are mainly located at the periphery of Z disk of striated muscles and at the dense bodies of smooth muscle cells, and they have been thought to play a major role in the maintenance of structural and mechanical integrity of the contractile apparatus in muscle tissues (Paulin Li, 2004). A dysfunctional desmin protein cannot properly interact with Z discs, leading to abnormalities of sarcomere structure and problems with the formation of myofibrils (NIH, 2016). The resulting pathology, desminopathy, is one of the most common intermediate filament human disorders associated with mutations in closely interacting proteins (Goldfarb Dalakas, 2009). This condition is defined as skeletal and cardiac myopathy characterized by the presence of chimeric aggregates in muscle fiber areas that consist of DES, CRYAB and other proteins (Goldfarb et al., 2010). Texas Social Workers 1) Would a school social worker in your city or town be legally justified in talking with a 14 year old about a pregnancy and possible abortion before securing the parents permission to do so. In Texas the social workers would have to allow the parent of the minor to know that the child wants t get an abortion. • 31. An Overview and Commentary on Course Objectives Essay Note to the reader: This essay is somewhat of an experiment. I am well aware of the standard guidelines within which a student must present and argue ideas, and the implications of nonconformity. However, if I have learned anything in this course, it is that genres and forms are continually under scrutiny, being molded and changed, discarded and exchanged, for sake of efficacy, veracity, adherence to ideology, or in reaction to otherwise unforeseen forces. Consider this as just such a reaction; more accurately, it is my only recourse. In setting out to write this essay, I had a clear objective. In a contemporary sense, there is an involvement between the reader and the text. This denies the Formalist stance that the text is the sole source of meaning. Proponents of this theory fall onto a spectrum, where at one pole the interpretive strategy of the reader entirely determines the text (Stanley Fish), at the other pole is what falls into the realm of Formalism (text dominant), and in between is a bi active stance, where the reader is both active and passive during the reading process (Wolfgang Iser). Iser talks of an actual reader and an implied reader. The actual reader is one who brings to the text all their knowledge and experience, what Barthes would term their déjà lu. The implied reader is one which text itself attempts to shape or condition. For Iser, the reading process is one which is gradually unfolding. The reader assimilates various facets of the text, and through this process dictates (in part) the essence of the text. However, unlike some of Fish s earlier works where the reader is effectively in creative control, Iser states the text imposes some constraints upon the reader. The reader cannot make the text mean what they like, as the text provides a skeleton of meanings, norms, and values that shape and control the reader s response. Thus, the convergence of text and reader brings the literary work into existence (Iser 189). He goes on further to state that the text provokes certain expectations which in ... • 32. Human Ipsc Line, 201b7 Clone Essay 1. The source of the iPSC s in this case study are human iPSC line 201B7 clone . They are dermal fibroblast tissues that in previous studies have been shown to have low tumorigenicity (meaning they have a low ability to produce tumors) after being used in transplantation therapy. 2. The iPSC s were different from the host cells because a piggyBac vector was introduced into the hiPSC. A piggyBac vector is a genetic element that literally does what it sounds like, gives a piggyback between vectors and chromosomes, and cuts genes, carries them, and pastes them into a new position. This specific piggyBac vector used to distinguish the host cells from the iPSC s stably expressed GFP (green fluorescent protein) gene under a ubiquitous promoter. The promoter was EF1 (elongation factor used to push gene expression in vitro and in vivo). The authors knew their transplantations of iPSC s were successful because once the cells were introduced they observed continuous GFP fluorescence. The GFP fluorescence was observed even after differentiation of neural linage. 3. iPSC s were differentiated into neural stem cells by using SMAD pathway inhibition. Green fluorescent proteins were labeled iPSC, and then a serum free floating culture of embryoid body like aggregates method was combined with the SMAD pathway. These methods stimulated the LIF/BMP signaling. Leukemia inhibitory factor and bone morphogenic protein both promote neural cell differentiation into GFAP (Glial ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

However, most economists can agree that the bursting of the U.S housing bubble, irresponsibility practiced by regulators and financiers, greed of banks, lack of leadership from central banks, complex chains of debt, and the credit crunch led to what is referred to as the largest crisis since the Great Depression. The collapse of the housing bubble, which peaked in 2004, in the United States is usually cited as the initial trigger of the crisis. Real estate prices also plummeted, and interest rates rose sharply from 1% to 5.35%. The devaluation of homes caused them to be worth less than their mortgage loan, giving consumers an incentive to foreclose on their mortgages. In addition, homeowners that were barely able to afford mortgage payments while interest rates were low were suddenly slapped in the face with the hike in interest rates, which also caused them to default on their mortgages. This phenomenon, dubbed the foreclosure epidemic , drained wealth from other consumers and weakened the financial strength of banks. Banks and investors that had borrowed and invested heavily in subprime mortgage backed securities also incurred significant amounts of debt or losses with the burst of the housing bubble, adding to the severity with which the collapse of this credit driven bubble affected the world economy. With the collapse the housing bubble and the value of asset prices, banks began to doubt the viability of their counterparties. Caesar s birth was claimed to be a Caesarian section, a birth considered to be a bad omen in Ancient Rome. He was the only son in his family, which gave him the responsibility of carrying out the family line, raising a new and more powerful generation. This position of power was handed to him quite soon, at the age of sixteen, when his father collapsed and died. He would soon after marry Cornelia, the daughter of Cinna, one the most powerful men in Rome at the time after serving on consul for four consecutive years (49). Caesar began a military service years later, which was considered a beginning to his career in the public eye. These inter molecular hydrogen bonds form between the carbonyl groups and NH centers. Additional strength is derived from aromatic stacking interactions between adjacent strands. These interactions have a greater influence on Kevlar than the van der Waals interactions and chain length that typically influence the properties of other synthetic polymers and fibers (Wikipedia). Therefore its main strength comes from the intermolecular bonds and stacking of the material. Even though Kevlar is a very strong material, it is yet very light considering the high strain it can handle. As this source claims Their high strength to weight ratio and ability to resist high speed impacts enable them to be more efficient than metals (Zhu). By this measure it is also known that Kevlar is almost five more times stronger than steel. This image shows the tensile strength of Kevlar in comparison to other materials.
