Examples Of Usury In The Catholic Convention
Usury remains denounced in the Catholic convention, however as Germain Grisez brings up: The
Church never taught that all charging of interest is wrong, but only that it is wrong to charge
interest on a loan in virtue of the very making of the loan, rather than in virtue of some factor
related to the loan which provides a basis for fair compensation. At the end of the day, there is
improvement yet not disagreement in the custom. Finnis closes: Aquinas record of usury, brought
with his general hypothesis of remuneration, in this manner distinguishes standards (not leads
made up by moralists or ministers) which empower us to see why in his period it was unjustifiable
for banks to make a charge (however portrayed) in the way of benefit,

Essay on People s Rights in History
People s Rights in History During the late eighteenth century due to philosophical writings of men
such as Rousseau and Locke, the question of what governments should be and the rights that every
person should have began to be questioned. In France it led to revolution and the Declaration of
the Rights of Man and the Citizen. The events in France influenced many in Britain to try for
reforms to their own government. Both France and Britain advocated many rights for their people;

realities of these rights were. In... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

governing power: the National Assembly, was filled mostly by the bourgeoisie. It was no wonder,
then, that the Constitution and the economic reforms were, in the end, great windfalls for the
middle class although some things benefited all. Unfortunately, more was to come that proved that
the DRMC was not worth much to the people of France as those in power breached it often. The
DRMC set out the basic rights and liberties that were supposed to be taken account of when
constituting the new government for France. From the very beginning, people in power
disregarded many of its articles in pursuit of their own ends. Article 6 of the DRMC says that in
forming laws: every citizen has a right to participate personally, or through his representative[2].
This article was breached in 1791 when the first French constitution was drawn up. Thomson states

Saint Sernin Of Toulouse And Notre Dame Of Paris Essay
Saint Sernin of Toulouse and Notre Dame of Paris
When one thinks of St. Sernin and Notre Dame, one tends to think of two beautiful cathedrals, not
to churches that portray two totally different styles of architecture. Those two styles are, of course,
Romanesque in St. Sernin and the Gothic style of Notre Dame. Some characteristics that these two
buildings share include quest for height, basic floor plan, and artistic flair. The period of
Romanesque architecture, which lasted roughly from 1050 A.D. to 1150
A.D., concentrated mainly on achieving massive proportions, rounded vaulted bays, the round arch,
the wall buttress, cylindrical apse and chapels, and towers.
Early Gothic architecture, which began in 1144 with the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The cathedrals were designed to draw vast numbers of people them, therefore they were built so
that one might not only come to worship, but to see the beauty of the structure. Even to this day
people are in awe of these building, and come more to stare at their beauty than to worship God.
Regardless of how many likeness we are able to find between the
Romanesque style of St. Sernin and the Gothic style of Notre Dame, it is the difference that make
them so amazing. In my opinion there are three major differences in Early Gothic and
Romanesque styles of architecture. These are the differences in buttresses, the use of towers, and
the use of windows. From the exterior, one of the first differences one would notice is the use of
flying buttresses in Gothic architecture. Where in Romanesque buildings, standard buttresses would
have been used, the buttresses on Gothic buildings were detached from the building. This created a
more open essence to the church and in my opinion a more spiritual look. As far as the towers go, in
Romanesque structure the towers were used as a more central figure, while in
Gothic construction, the towers were used more as an entrance structure. Most importantly though,
is the different use of light. In Romanesque structures, as is obvious in St. Sernin, it was realized
that in a structure as big as a cathedral, much light was

Animal Abuse In America
It seems like nowadays nearly everyone in society knows something about the abuse. If not, abuse
is a somatic or physiological form of harm. It also seems that more and more people are getting
concerned about animal abuse, and promptly because of that, there are more foundations to help
rescue animals, and nurture them back to health. However, animals around the globe are still not
getting rescued and are getting abused. In order to be fully acquainted about animalabuse, the
common types of animal abuse, and the causes of animal abuse must all be explored, as well as the
ways to prohibit the occurrence of animal abuse. Animals have rights, those in which are being

suffering when they choose not to acknowledge or understand it (cognition), are not bothered or

concerned with (morality), and don t react to put a stop to it (action) (5). Animal abuse should a
very disturbing topic and should also cause people to take an action to put a stop to it. Taking an
action would include becoming a vegetarian or vegan, rescuing animals from abusive homes, or

place where citizens donate money either through the mail or online to a charity of your choice to
help animals going through abuse get nursed back to health, or at worse case get put out of
misery. Most of the people that deny being involved with animal abuse might not have known, but
eating meat would be considered a case of animal abuse. When people buy meat they are really just
paying other people to abuse an animal for others consumption. When people are buying meat, they
need to acknowledge the fact that it is contributing to animal abuse. Gary L. Francicone in his

Limit Foreign Control of Key Industries
Should countries limit foreign control of key industries?
Companies want to make direct investment because in that way they can control parts of the
companies. Even though companies want to do that, there are governments who protect domestic
companies, mostly for the reason to protect the majority of the society. Companies are willing to
take over control keys in industries for 3 different reasons:
Freedom to pursue global objectives
This is of use when a company owns the whole foreign company; they can start treating the world
as one market. For example Unilever with CIF and JIF, at the beginning you had in the Netherlands
the product JIF (kitchen cleaner) when that worked really well. Unilever started to introduce it in
other ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, domestic companies can be harmed if the mother company goes bankrupt even though
the old domestic company is still making profit.
Governments are sometimes establishing laws to prevent FDI in their key industries. This leads to
the increase of tension between two countries, which often have to do with political issues. For
example, the Vodafone Company wants to invest in the Chinese market by direct investment, in this
case the telecommunication business. The Chinese government cancelled the deal because they
don t want to give foreign countries ownership of the telecom market. Which is logic if you
compare the issues we have here with our providers, if the governments or the EU didn t interfere
we would pay a lot of money per phone call.
Governments have two main reasons to limit foreign direct investment. First there is the balance of
payment; this accounting system takes account of all the outflow payment and inflow payments to
organizations in a certain country. By intervening the country can hold control over the balance,
because foreign direct investment is mentioned on the balance of payment. Also by limiting the
direct investment the local company its production will increase and thereby the import numbers on
the balance decline. This has a positive effect on the economy because now the local companies will
start exporting when the domestic

The Anatomy Of The Knee Injuries
Shianne Rey
Complete Tear of the ACL A torn ACL is one of the most serious and common knee injuries. Many
aspects play a role in the treatment and rehabilitation of this injury. This paper will discuss the
anatomy of the knee, describe a torn ACL, and the rehabilitation. The knee is a hinge joint which
gives the legs mobility. The muscles and ligaments of this joint allows flexion and extension of the
leg. Because the knee supports the majority of the body weight, it is at risk of overuse and
traumatic injuries (France). The knee is composed of 3 major bones; the femur, tibia, and the
fibula. The femur is the biggest bone in the human body, the inferior end flares out into two
rounded landmarks called femoral condyles. Their name comes from the side of the body they
are on, which is where we get Lateral Femoral Condyle and Media Femoral Condyle. Superiorly
to these condlyes are the medial and lateral femoral epicondyles. The bones inferior to the femur
are the Tibia and Fibula. The superior end of the Tibia flares out into slightly concave structures
called the Tibial Plateaus. A crescent wedge shape of cartilage sits in each plateau. These are the
Medial Meniscus and the Lateral Meniscus. This cartilage acts as a shock absorber and distributes
forces. The menisci are bathed by the synovial fluid of the knee (France). The meniscus is what
separates the each side of the Tibia and Femur and the transverse ligament connects each menisci.
There is a circular bone on the

Developing World And Secondly Canada s Responsibility Of...
This paper considers two issues: firstly, human rights in the developing world and secondly Canada
s responsibility of humanitarian assistance. Both issues are of grave importance and are mutually
exclusive as nations lacking strong human rights standards are more likely to require the greatest
humanitarian assistance. Additionally, the need for humanitarian assistance will increase as global
crises become more frequent, due to climate change insecurity (Adger, Huq, Brown, Conway
Hulme, 2003). The example of climate change will be utilised throughout this paper to explore the
disparaging links between climate justice and human rights. In defining humanitarian assistance this
paper will take Jamieson s (2004) definition that humanitarian assistance is a response to crises via
support in the short term to overcome disasters such as earthquakes and tsunamis. Whereas,
development assistance considers the longer term issues in developing countries. By defining the
two main types of assistance this paper will propose that greater investment into development aid
may reduce the need for humanitarian aidas nations become more capable to support themselves.
The body of this paper will consider key arguments concerning humanitarian assistance and human
rights, including: Canadas humanitarian response in the developing world, the increasing need for
global crisis response, human rights as a global responsibility and lastly the move from
humanitarian to development assistance. In

Similarities Between The Flood And The Epic Of Gilgamesh
The Flood Narrative (Genesis 6 9) and the Epic of Gilgamesh, Tablet XI have certain parallels that
are undeniable, yet many noticeable differences. The parallels are strange yet oddly common in any
flood narrative and the differences often lie behind the reasons, responses, and decisions made by
the main characters. In both texts, each of the main characters, Noahand Uta napishti, were ordered
to build an ark or a boat due to an incoming flood. In Genesis, Godtells Noah, Make yourself an ark
of cypress wood, make rooms in the ark, and cover it inside and out with pitch (Genesis 6:14).
Noah obeys God s orders and indeed builds an ark. In the Epic of Gilgamesh, Uta napishti is told by
God Ea, O man of Shuruppak, son of Ubar Tutu, demolish the house and build a boat! Abandon
wealth, and seek survival (Gilgamesh, XI, 23 25). Uta napishti knew his life was on the line and
followed his orders as well. In both texts, the men are warned that flood will be coming and are
given instructions on how to survive. Naturally, if anyone was told a massive flood was coming,
one of the first ideas should be to build some type of shelter. However, the details of how the ark
/boat was to be built were remarkably different. In Genesis, God gives Noah specific directions:
...the length of the ark three hundred cubits, its width fifty cubits, and its height thirty cubits...make
it with lower, second, and third decks (Genesis 6:15). The ark was designed to be rectangular with
three decks

The Acropolis is a large worship complex built on a mountain overlooking the city of Athens. Both

CO2 in Japan, and nine tons in China, when it s used instead of using coal.
In short, demand for LNG is expected to develop briskly in the Asia Pacific. Thus, Australia has
remained as a leading center for LNG investment and is likely to become the first and largest LNG
supplier worldwide during the years. Accordingly, improvements in the LNG market have an
increased importance to the Aussie.

Essay on Transgenic Rice Plants
For centuries, rice has been one of the most important staple crops for the world and it now
currently feeds more than two billion people, mostly living in developing countries. Rice is the
major food source of Japan and China and it enjoys a long history of use in both cultures. In 1994,
worldwide riceproduction peaked at 530 million metric tons. Yet, more than 200 million tons of
rice are lost each year to biotic stresses such as disease and insect infestation. This extreme loss of
crop is estimated to cost at least several billion dollars per year and heavy losses often leave third
world countries desperate for their staple food.
Therefore, measures must be taken to decrease the amount of crop loss and ... Show more content

This was useful for delivering the protein inhibitor to insects which eat plant material. The
selectable marker in this trial was the bacterial phosphinothricin acetyl transferase gene (bar) which
was linked to the cauliflower mosaic virus (CaMV) 35S promoter. Next the plasmid pTW was
injected into cell cultures of Japonica rice using the
BiolisticTM particle delivery system. The BiolisticTM system proceeds as follows: Immature
embryos and embryonic calli of six rice materials were bombarded with tungsten particles coated
with DNA of two plasmids containing the appropriate genes. The plant materials showed high
frequency of expression of genes when stained with X Gluc. The number of blue or transgenic units
was approximately 1,000.
After one week, the transgenic cells were transferred onto selection medium containing hygromycin
B. After two weeks, fresh cell cultures could be seen on bombarded tissue. Some cultures were
white and some cultures were blue.
Isolated cell cultures were further selected on hygromycin resistance. However, no control plant
survived.
Then twenty plates of cells were bombarded with the PINII gene, from which over two hundred
plants were regenerated and grown in a greenhouse. After their growth, they were tested for PINII
gene using
DNA blot hybridization and 73% of the plants were found to be transgenic.
DNA blot hybridization is the process by which DNA from each sample was digested by a

The Debate Over Stem Cell Research
Stem cell research is the study of basic cells that are grown in laboratories where tests are made
to determine the essential properties of the cells. Over the past few decades, stem cell research has
become a popular scientific debate and controversy. Stem cell research is still considered to be
relatively new technology that is responsible for taking human cells and developing them into 220
different cells in the human body. Stem cellresearch has the potential to help disease research and
management (Murnaghan, 2010). The two most common stem cells that scientist work within
animals and humans are embryonic and non embryonic ( somatic or adult ) stem cells (Stem cell

If a scientist is able to manipulate embryonic stem cells into specific cell types, then maybe they
could use the differentiated cells to treat certain diseases like Parkinson s disease, traumatic
spinal cord injury diabetes, heart disease, and Duchenne s muscular dystrophy (Stem cell basics,

present in the human body in small numbers. These cells specifically focus on one specific tissue
or organ as oppose to giving rise to all cells in the body. Over the past thirty years, adult stem
cells have been quite successful with bone marrow transplants. One great example of an adult
stem cell is the blood stem cell which is found mainly in the bone marrow of an adult
(Stöppler). It was discovered that bone marrow contains two kinds of stem cells, hematopoietic
stem cells and bone marrow stromal stem cells. Not only has adult stem cells been found in bone
marrow but they have also recently been found in the brain, skeletal muscle, skin, teeth, heart,
liver, and blood vessels. Usually, the adult stem cells are found in small amounts in tissue,
especially once removed from the body. Many scientists are still trying to find ways to grow larger
quantities in cell culture (Stem cell basics, 2009). Embryonic stem cells and

Traditional Methods Of Managing Behaviors
Traditional Methods of Managing Behaviors Versus Creative Means
As life expectancies increase, the healthcare community as a whole is experiencing an increase in
the instance of chronic disease both of the body and of the mind. One of the most challenging
instances for any geriatric nurse is the prevalence of dementia and behavioral disorders. According
to The British Journal of Nursing, neuropsychiatric and behavioral problems can occur for a
number of different reasons such as dementia, delirium, depression, paranoid states, and drug and
alcohol intoxication. (Ouldred Bryant, 2008) The challenge of managing these behaviors has been

(Alzheimer s Association, 2015) According to Botonis, people with Alzheimer s and dementia
often exhibit behaviors that are unpredictable and may be outside the bounds of what others

intervention, a nurse cold have a patient on her hands that is disturbing other residents who s
anxiety level climb causing them discomfort or behaviors. There is also the problem of other
residents of staff members becoming physically injured by a dementia patient who is agitated to the
point of physical violence. Intertwined with the need to protect other residents and staff members
is the reality that the patient displaying the behaviors has no control over what they are doing or
thinking at any given time. These facts alone dictate that every staff member who works with
patients who display these types of behaviors must employ realistic and effective means of
managing a patient s behaviors.
There are numerous traditional and approved methods of subverting the behaviors of a demented
patient. The one that readily comes to mind is medication. In the past, this was the primary way of
managing the behaviors of demented patients. Unfortunately, the method was overused and created

HEALTHCARE CONSIDERATIONS FOR THE NATIVE AMERICAN CULTURE 2
Abstract
The Native American culture is the original culture of the United States. Members of Native
American tribes live throughout the country. There are an estimated 4.9 million persons, in 565
federally recognized tribes who are classified as American Indian or Alaska Native (AI/AI), alone
or in combination with one or more other designated racial classifications. This demographic group
compromises 1.6% of the U.S. population (Horowitz, 2012). Wisconsin is home to the Ho Chunk
(Winnebago), Ojibwa (Chippewa), and the Potawatomi tribes ( American , 2014). It is important for
nurses within this state, as well as any other state, to understand the Native American belief system
in order to provide a quality healthcare experience. Nurses are the primary point of contact in the
healthcare setting. Client advocacy is one of the nurse s major roles. Therefore, the nurse should
have the highest level of diversity understanding for the cultures within the local region.

Fire Hydrant In The 1800s
Between the years of 1800 and 1900, there were many useful inventions created by Americans.
They have each affected and assisted the U.S. in many ways. One of the inventions created
between this time span, was the fire hydrant. There are at least 15,000 located everywhere. Fire
hydrants themselves are about 182 years old. Even though they might seem ordinary, they are a
major necessity that helps us get water right away in case of an emergency. It is unsure who
invented the first fire hydrant, but it is guessed that it was invented by a firefighter named George
Smith in the year of 1817. He invented it in Manhattan to help the locals receive water. They were
running out of their water supplywhich is where the fire hydrant came in to help.

To begin, this paper will first address the causation of the 1970 October Crisis and the origins of
Quebec autonomy through separation. Going back to the election of Jean Lesage and the Quiet
Revolution in 1960 s, it marked a period in which provincial autonomy would inspire nationalism.
Elected under the phrase It s time for a change , Jean Lesage would implement an attitude of high
modernism that saw the secularization of industry, education and healthcare. By extension of the
high modernist attitude, projects such as the nationalization of Quebec Hydro also saw the
construction of large scale projects furthering provincial autonomy through job creation and wealth.
The Hydro Quebec project under Minister Rene Levesque would become an important symbol in
QuГ©bec by showing the ingenuity of the QuГ©bГ©cois to complete such an ambitious project .
Through the strengthening of a QuГ©bГ©cois identity during the Quiet

government for greater independence. Separatist groups such as the Ralliement National, CSN and
Front de Liberation du QuГ©bec began as municipal and grassroots organizations advocating for
greater provincial autonomy through separation. These separatist groups were also driven by a

Optimism And Racism
Write it on your heart that every day is the best day of the year. This quote by Ralph Waldo Emerson

to modern society. However, is it possible that each individual could establish an optimisitc,

attainable, through a conscious, caring attitude to our thoughts.
Genuinely unadulterated optimisim and joy is so recherere in modern society. However, optimisim

How do we obtain this unshakeable optimism through the storms of life, through clossal challenges,

Dynamic Stretching Research Paper
There are several factors that tie into aiding a great recovery; Mobility is amongst them. Mobility
is the ability to move freely and easily. The desired goal of continued mobilization is to slowly
increase the athlete s range of motion (ROM). This requires much work such as dynamic stretching

when it comes to maintaining health and ROM. For some Athletes, dynamic stretching may

Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness, otherwise known as DOMS, happens when the muscle tissue is
stressed beyond what it is accustomed to. The stresses on the muscles cause microscopic tears to
the muscle fibers, which then lead to delayed soreness, stiffness, and discomfort making it difficult
to perform simple tasks throughout the day. DOMS would be the best possible scenario for lactic
acid build up, but in emergency situations lactic acid has shown to be detrimental causing cell
necrosis and in some cases death. When there is an extremity that is cut off from blood flow, the
tissues in that specific area create a lactic acid build up that if released too quickly back into the
bloodstream could cause the heart to stop beating. This situation is very common in crush injuries;
emergency personnel now have strict protocol to prevent this situation from occurring. Some

Analysis Of The Book Muckraker By Jacob Riis
This is a book was written by Jacob Riis, who was a muckraking journalist. Muckraker was a
journalist who pushed for reform in publications that covered the issues of society for the middle
and wealthy classes. In this book, Riis made a photographic report about the life of poor people
in the tenements of New York. In the beginning, Riis described a raid which was made by
policemen. The object of that raid was the stale beer dives. He said that the squads sent to make
simultaneous control on all tramp s lair in the area. After that, they caught several tramps and
sent them to the police station. Then, Riis described a room of one tenement. There was a dirty
floor, broken chair, and many things that it shouldn t in the memory of the man. In that place,
there was a group of poor people. The policemen broke into that room and surrounded those
people. There was a thirteen person in that dirty room. The police took them and went to another
location. In another location, the policemen found seventy five men and women and arrested
them in four small rooms. When they went back to the police station, there were two hundred
seventy five tramps, who were captured by policemen, packed them into groups to be arraigned
in the police court. He said that the tramps might be sent to an island for six months. After that,
he described the people s life in that area which known as the bend . He said that a share of stale

Capital Gains Tax During The Civil War
Tax began in America during the Civil War when congressed passed the Revenue Act of 1861.
This was a tax on personal incomes to help pay the wages of the ongoing war. From this time
different acts have been included and repealed on capital gain and taxes. From the past to current,
the United States has shown the importance capital gains tax. This paper will give a brief history of
how capital gains taxbegan in America, where the United State is now, pros and cons for arguments
for and against capital gains tax and how America stacks up to other countries.
Capital gain taxation in America has been around since the Civil war when a tax on income
began and a rise in taxing capital gain started. After many repeals and acts about taxation, the
ratification of the Sixteenth Amendment came about which allows Congress to levy an income
tax without apportioning it among the states or basing it on the United States Census (gov.)
Between 1913 and 1922 taxes on capital gain ranged from the top rate of 7 percent and 12.5
percent being held at least two years. (Capital gain tax) Next came the Tax Reform Acts of 1969
and 1976. The Tax Reform Act of 1969 set a 10 percent minimum tax not including gains, and put
a limit on alternative tax up to $ 50,000 of gains. (Capital gain tax) The next Act of 1976 further
increased capital gain taxes by increasing the tax rate to 15 percent. By 1978 the maximum tax rate
reached almost 50 percent, which caused for Congress to reduce capital gains tax

Cause And Effect Of Water Vapor
Water vapor. Out of all the gases, water vapor makes the largest contribution to the Earth s GHE
(EPA, 2015). Water vapor has an atmospheric lifetime (AL) (defined as the approximate amount
of time it would take for the anthropogenic increment to an atmospheric pollutant concentration to
return to its natural level (assuming emissions cease) as a result of either being converted to
another chemical compound or being taken out of the atmosphere via a sink (EPA, 2013)) of
approximately 10 days (EPA, 2015). It is unlike other GHG and unique in the fact that when it
reaches high enough concentrations in the atmosphere, it has the ability to condense into H2O
liquid and can rain out from the atmosphere back to the surface of the Earth (EPA, 2015). It also
acts as a feedback mechanism to climate change (IPCC, 2007; EPA, 2015). This is mainly due to
two reasons. The first being that the total amount of H2O vapor that is in the atmosphere at any
given time is directly related to the Earth s surface temperature (EPA, 2015). Secondly, the H2O
vapor in the atmosphere can affect the formation of clouds which directly influence the GHE by
cooling (reflecting heat from the Sun) or by warming (trapping heat in the atmosphere) the surface
of the Earth (EPA, 2015). Essentially, any change in clouds such as type, location, water content,
altitude, particle size or shape, and lifetimes can influence their effect on the cooling and warming
of the Earth (IPCC, 2013). Therefore, any

Structural power dynamics prove significantly less important for relational outcomes than
perceptions of shared responsibility (Collett Avelis 2011: 249). We have a clear structure, but
we decide as a group what our specific goals will be each season, we agree on specific norms as a

they are still lead by the captains. In everything we do, everyone takes some of the responsibility,

One thing we like to say is that the group makes the whole better. This is a great summarization

Sunset Boulevard, directed by Billy Wilder features some very legendary and prominent actors as

is that there are both actors and directors in the movie who play themselves. The film stars notable
actors and actresses such as Gloria Swanson, William Holden, Buster Keaton, Hedda Hopper, and

Sunset Boulevard stars Gloria Swanson who plays a washed up silent movie star (Norma

Domestic work is an issue that Colombia began to address relatively in 2014, in consultation with

I Was A Warehouse Wage Slave By Mac Mcclelland
The American Dream has been drilled into the heads of almost all Americans and quite a few
foreigners. The idea is that Every US citizen should have an equal opportunity to achieve success
and prosperity through hard work, determination, and initiative . The most common misconception
foreigners have about America, is that the streets are paved with gold and poverty does not exist,
when in reality the streets are not paved at all. As an American citizen, I cannot full heartedly
believe that people are determined by the country they were born into because I believe that if
someone is determined enough to succeed, such a person will. Living in a third world country
undoubtedly has its setbacks but it is not a set determination of one s fate. The essay, I Was a
Warehouse Wage Slave by Mac McClelland fully supports the idea that people have to fight for
what they desire in life, while the other essay s My Summer at an Indian Call Center by Andrew
Maran, and, The New Mecca by George Saunderssuggest that success is determined by place of
birth. Although the essays disagree about the foundation of success, they have many similarities
regarding how people s identities are affected by demanding jobs. All three essays demonstrate that
the workers identities are distorted because they are forced to sacrifice their own wants and needs,
and to adopt an identity according to their companies preference, so that the shoppers, tourist etc.

Having a higher income can provide better nutrition, housing, schooling, and recreation. One
explanation for this is that goods and welfare and the experience of inequality are both greater
and in turn affect health. At a higher level health reflect relative status, while at the lower part it
is more deprivation. As far as demographics, it also plays an important role in healthcare. As

The Golden Age Of A Civil War Across China Essay
Daoism appeared as a reaction to a civil war across China, known as the warring states period,
which caused a wide feeling of civil unrest. The war went on for nearly two hundred and fifty
years and spread across the Zhou Dynasty, which was divided into eight separate states. Daoist
believed that war was a result of excessive desire, and only through modest desire will people and
the state experience peace and unity. Daoist argued that desire and all actions must be natural,
and we must return to nature to establish our balance. We must return to nature and to a time like
the Golden Age, that came before the Zhou Empire and the warring states. The Golden Age
refers to a more simple time in life, in which people had relied on agriculture in small villages
with a trusted government that also followed the way, causing a balance and unity. To manifest
this simplicity and selflessness naturally is the Dao, which is the way of all things. Though in
today s world we have strayed far from nature, for reason and excessive desires have corrupted
people and their values. Daoist would believe that our society is unbalanced ,and we must return to
the path of the Dao to restore our unity. We must behave naturally and act modestly in order to find
the way, but like the opposing states in the Zhou Dynasty, we have excessive desires causing
unnatural behaviors. These unnatural behaviors keep many people from finding the way, but the
Daodejing supplies many passages of the effects of

The Four Gospels Compare And Contrast
Gospel is an old English word meaning good news. When comparing the four gospels they are all
unified, but each gospel can have slight differences to them. Whether is literary structure, length,
how many teachings, important events, different significance, geography or chronology; they all
are correlated to tell us Jesusstory, in their own way. In like manner, God didn t give us one
explanation from an confined individual. Rather, God educates us about the broad richness of Jesus
life through a numerous prophet witnesses. Moreover, God works through well documented and a
valid history, not through confidential revelations to a single person. The prophetic witnesses of the

He is mentioned to by Paul as Luke the beloved physician (Col. 4:14). Luke fixed forth the
humanity of the Son of Man and cites it in chronological order the life of Christ. Being a
physician, he is more precise when using language. For example, when he indicates a leper he
uses the identical medical term to describe the circumstance, for example full of leprosy (Luke
5:12). Luke s gospel is particularly focused towards an individual named Theophilus and is
focused on the complete story and past events of Jesus Christ from his birth and ministry to his
crucifixion and resurrection. A major theme in Luke s gospel shows how important the poor were
to Jesus and how we should not neglect the poor. Examples of this are seen when the book talks
about the distinctive beatitudes blessed you are poor...hunger now...weep now... and the distinctive
woes woes to you that are rich...that are full...that laugh now... which overall say, money and power
will tend to bring judgement upon you. In addition, the gospel of Luke refers to certain parables
like the Rich man and Lazarus. This sends a message to warn the rich who tend to trust in their
riches more than in God, wealth tends to pull us away from God and that if we neglect the poor
and prioritize our riches more we will go to hell. Asking oneself is your existence a blessing for the

The Second Amendment And The Fifth Amendments
The founding fathers created the Constitution but it lacked security, Anti Federalist argued that
their rights were necessary to protect their individual s liberty. James Madison created amendments
that would place limits on government power including the bill of rights, which are the first Ten
Amendments. The Bill of Rights guarantee protections and freedom of United States citizens. For
example the Second Amendment states that a well regulated militia being necessary to the security
of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed. The Fourth
Amendment s states that the rights of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers and
effects against unreasonable searches and seizures shall not be violated, and no warrants shall issue
but upon probable causes. The Fifth Amendments also states that everyone has a right to due
process of law, freedom from self incrimination and double jeopardy lastly the Tenth Amendment ,
the powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States,
are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people. They have all opened themselves up to
controversy and debate. The Second Amendments has cause the most debate as of now because of
all the mass shooting that has been happening since the Newtown Connecticut shooting and
recently the las Vegas shooting. The question is should we get rid of the second amendment or

my countries greatest artists. He was born in Guanajuato and educated at the San Carlos Academy

leading 20th century Mexican painter.
I think what I like the most the murals that he painted I liked how he drew the Indian people their
faces the scenery , the palace and his style. Riviera s murals are rich in archeological detail and
painted in sharply outlined , linear style. Most of them have clear , three dimensional figures in a
shallow space , although a deep spatial extension of landscape appears at the top of some works .
Rivera also executed easel paintings and portraits and designed and built his
Mexico City house , the Anahuacalli, which is now a museum housing the extensive collection
of pre Columbian art that he left for Mexican people . I liked the water colors that Riviera used
for the murals and the way he painted the pictures .I imagine take him a long time to draw the
murals and paint them and drawing the faces . I have seen his murals in the walls in Mexico
City and I really think is very hard to draw the murals and I also have seen in the museums alot of
pictures that Riviera has drawn and I was really impressed with all his work.

King Kong Comparison Essay
The original 1933 King Kong was created as a movie: to convey a story and entertain and
audience. Peter Jackson s 2005 remake took the foundation for King Kong and expanded upon it
in almost every way in order to make again the amazement of the original for a modern audience.
Audiences received the original King Kongvery well. The stop motionsequences of Kong were
amazing for their time and the movie grossed $90,000 in its opening weekend. In order to bank
upon its success again sequels were made and then in 1976 a remake was made to improve upon
the original. Paramount updated the movie to color, changed the story, and cast Jeff Bridges, a well

While Jackson s remake is true to the original for the most part, there are some small changes
made in order to make the movie more appealing. In the original King Kong it is the lead actor in
the movie that saves the damsel in distress but in the 2005 remake it is the scriptwriter that saves
the female actress. This change is likely due to the recent trend of heroes coming from unlikely
places. Studios know that if a movie does well the first time, it is likely to do well the second
time and even the third time. King Kong is no exception. Producers can presume that the glory
of the original will pass on to the remake since audiences hope for that feeling again. Whether the
movie is better or not doesn t matter. Audiences will go to see King Kong over the years because
the remakes are associated with the original. Every King Kong remake is based on the same
principles: wanting to create a movie that will capture audiences and instill in them a sense of
wonderment and awe. The original did this and the remakes try to do it again. Directors, producers,
and studios may change the story, update the actors and technology but they are essentially just
trying to cash in on the success of the original. Take a good idea, update it, and reap the benefits
again and

Examples Of Usury In The Catholic Convention Usury remains denounced in the Catholic convention, however as Germain Grisez brings up: The Church never taught that all charging of interest is wrong, but only that it is wrong to charge interest on a loan in virtue of the very making of the loan, rather than in virtue of some factor related to the loan which provides a basis for fair compensation. At the end of the day, there is improvement yet not disagreement in the custom. Finnis closes: Aquinas record of usury, brought with his general hypothesis of remuneration, in this manner distinguishes standards (not leads made up by moralists or ministers) which empower us to see why in his period it was unjustifiable for banks to make a charge (however portrayed) in the way of benefit, ... Essay on People s Rights in History People s Rights in History During the late eighteenth century due to philosophical writings of men such as Rousseau and Locke, the question of what governments should be and the rights that every person should have began to be questioned. In France it led to revolution and the Declaration of the Rights of Man and the Citizen. The events in France influenced many in Britain to try for reforms to their own government. Unfortunately, more was to come that proved that the DRMC was not worth much to the people of France as those in power breached it often. The DRMC set out the basic rights and liberties that were supposed to be taken account of when constituting the new government for France. From the very beginning, people in power disregarded many of its articles in pursuit of their own ends. Article 6 of the DRMC says that in forming laws: every citizen has a right to participate personally, or through his representative[2]. • 6. Saint Sernin Of Toulouse And Notre Dame Of Paris Essay Saint Sernin of Toulouse and Notre Dame of Paris When one thinks of St. Sernin and Notre Dame, one tends to think of two beautiful cathedrals, not to churches that portray two totally different styles of architecture. Those two styles are, of course, Romanesque in St. Sernin and the Gothic style of Notre Dame. Some characteristics that these two buildings share include quest for height, basic floor plan, and artistic flair. The period of Romanesque architecture, which lasted roughly from 1050 A.D. to 1150 A.D., concentrated mainly on achieving massive proportions, rounded vaulted bays, the round arch, the wall buttress, cylindrical apse and chapels, and towers. Even to this day people are in awe of these building, and come more to stare at their beauty than to worship God. Regardless of how many likeness we are able to find between the Romanesque style of St. Sernin and the Gothic style of Notre Dame, it is the difference that make them so amazing. In my opinion there are three major differences in Early Gothic and Romanesque styles of architecture. These are the differences in buttresses, the use of towers, and the use of windows. From the exterior, one of the first differences one would notice is the use of flying buttresses in Gothic architecture. Where in Romanesque buildings, standard buttresses would have been used, the buttresses on Gothic buildings were detached from the building. This created a more open essence to the church and in my opinion a more spiritual look. As far as the towers go, in Romanesque structure the towers were used as a more central figure, while in Gothic construction, the towers were used more as an entrance structure. Most importantly though, is the different use of light. In Romanesque structures, as is obvious in St. Sernin, it was realized that in a structure as big as a cathedral, much light was ... Companies want to make direct investment because in that way they can control parts of the companies. Even though companies want to do that, there are governments who protect domestic companies, mostly for the reason to protect the majority of the society. Companies are willing to take over control keys in industries for 3 different reasons: Freedom to pursue global objectives This is of use when a company owns the whole foreign company; they can start treating the world as one market. For example Unilever with CIF and JIF, at the beginning you had in the Netherlands the product JIF (kitchen cleaner) when that worked really well. Unilever started to introduce it in other ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example, domestic companies can be harmed if the mother company goes bankrupt even though the old domestic company is still making profit. Governments are sometimes establishing laws to prevent FDI in their key industries. This leads to the increase of tension between two countries, which often have to do with political issues. For example, the Vodafone Company wants to invest in the Chinese market by direct investment, in this case the telecommunication business. The Chinese government cancelled the deal because they don t want to give foreign countries ownership of the telecom market. Which is logic if you compare the issues we have here with our providers, if the governments or the EU didn t interfere we would pay a lot of money per phone call. Governments have two main reasons to limit foreign direct investment. First there is the balance of payment; this accounting system takes account of all the outflow payment and inflow payments to organizations in a certain country. By intervening the country can hold control over the balance, because foreign direct investment is mentioned on the balance of payment. Also by limiting the direct investment the local company its production will increase and thereby the import numbers on the balance decline. This has a positive effect on the economy because now the local companies will start exporting when the domestic ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 12. The Anatomy Of The Knee Injuries Shianne Rey Complete Tear of the ACL A torn ACL is one of the most serious and common knee injuries. Many aspects play a role in the treatment and rehabilitation of this injury. This paper will discuss the anatomy of the knee, describe a torn ACL, and the rehabilitation. The knee is a hinge joint which gives the legs mobility. The muscles and ligaments of this joint allows flexion and extension of the leg. Because the knee supports the majority of the body weight, it is at risk of overuse and traumatic injuries (France). The knee is composed of 3 major bones; the femur, tibia, and the fibula. The femur is the biggest bone in the human body, the inferior end flares out into two rounded landmarks called femoral condyles. Their name comes from the side of the body they are on, which is where we get Lateral Femoral Condyle and Media Femoral Condyle. Superiorly to these condlyes are the medial and lateral femoral epicondyles. The bones inferior to the femur are the Tibia and Fibula. The superior end of the Tibia flares out into slightly concave structures called the Tibial Plateaus. A crescent wedge shape of cartilage sits in each plateau. These are the Medial Meniscus and the Lateral Meniscus. This cartilage acts as a shock absorber and distributes forces. The menisci are bathed by the synovial fluid of the knee (France). The meniscus is what separates the each side of the Tibia and Femur and the transverse ligament connects each menisci. There is a circular bone on the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This paper considers two issues: firstly, human rights in the developing world and secondly Canada s responsibility of humanitarian assistance. Both issues are of grave importance and are mutually exclusive as nations lacking strong human rights standards are more likely to require the greatest humanitarian assistance. Additionally, the need for humanitarian assistance will increase as global crises become more frequent, due to climate change insecurity (Adger, Huq, Brown, Conway Hulme, 2003). The example of climate change will be utilised throughout this paper to explore the disparaging links between climate justice and human rights. In defining humanitarian assistance this paper will take Jamieson s (2004) definition that humanitarian assistance is a response to crises via support in the short term to overcome disasters such as earthquakes and tsunamis. Whereas, development assistance considers the longer term issues in developing countries. By defining the two main types of assistance this paper will propose that greater investment into development aid may reduce the need for humanitarian aidas nations become more capable to support themselves. The body of this paper will consider key arguments concerning humanitarian assistance and human rights, including: Canadas humanitarian response in the developing world, the increasing need for global crisis response, human rights as a global responsibility and lastly the move from humanitarian to development assistance. Similarities Between The Flood And The Epic Of Gilgamesh The Flood Narrative (Genesis 6 9) and the Epic of Gilgamesh, Tablet XI have certain parallels that are undeniable, yet many noticeable differences. The parallels are strange yet oddly common in any flood narrative and the differences often lie behind the reasons, responses, and decisions made by the main characters. In both texts, each of the main characters, Noahand Uta napishti, were ordered to build an ark or a boat due to an incoming flood. In Genesis, Godtells Noah, Make yourself an ark of cypress wood, make rooms in the ark, and cover it inside and out with pitch (Genesis 6:14). Noah obeys God s orders and indeed builds an ark. In the Epic of Gilgamesh, Uta napishti is told by God Ea, O man of Shuruppak, son of Ubar Tutu, demolish the house and build a boat! Abandon wealth, and seek survival (Gilgamesh, XI, 23 25). Uta napishti knew his life was on the line and followed his orders as well. In both texts, the men are warned that flood will be coming and are given instructions on how to survive. Naturally, if anyone was told a massive flood was coming, one of the first ideas should be to build some type of shelter. However, the details of how the ark /boat was to be built were remarkably different. In Genesis, God gives Noah specific directions: ...the length of the ark three hundred cubits, its width fifty cubits, and its height thirty cubits...make it with lower, second, and third decks (Genesis 6:15). Essay on Transgenic Rice Plants For centuries, rice has been one of the most important staple crops for the world and it now currently feeds more than two billion people, mostly living in developing countries. Rice is the major food source of Japan and China and it enjoys a long history of use in both cultures. In 1994, worldwide riceproduction peaked at 530 million metric tons. Yet, more than 200 million tons of rice are lost each year to biotic stresses such as disease and insect infestation. This extreme loss of crop is estimated to cost at least several billion dollars per year and heavy losses often leave third world countries desperate for their staple food. The BiolisticTM system proceeds as follows: Immature embryos and embryonic calli of six rice materials were bombarded with tungsten particles coated with DNA of two plasmids containing the appropriate genes. The plant materials showed high frequency of expression of genes when stained with X Gluc. The number of blue or transgenic units was approximately 1,000. After one week, the transgenic cells were transferred onto selection medium containing hygromycin B. After two weeks, fresh cell cultures could be seen on bombarded tissue. Some cultures were white and some cultures were blue. Isolated cell cultures were further selected on hygromycin resistance. However, no control plant survived. Then twenty plates of cells were bombarded with the PINII gene, from which over two hundred plants were regenerated and grown in a greenhouse. After their growth, they were tested for PINII gene using DNA blot hybridization and 73% of the plants were found to be transgenic. Adult stem cells also known as multipotent stem cells and/or somatic stem cells are present in the human body in small numbers. These cells specifically focus on one specific tissue or organ as oppose to giving rise to all cells in the body. Over the past thirty years, adult stem cells have been quite successful with bone marrow transplants. One great example of an adult stem cell is the blood stem cell which is found mainly in the bone marrow of an adult (StГ¶ppler). It was discovered that bone marrow contains two kinds of stem cells, hematopoietic stem cells and bone marrow stromal stem cells. Not only has adult stem cells been found in bone marrow but they have also recently been found in the brain, skeletal muscle, skin, teeth, heart, liver, and blood vessels. Usually, the adult stem cells are found in small amounts in tissue, especially once removed from the body. • 37. Cause And Effect Of Water Vapor Water vapor. Out of all the gases, water vapor makes the largest contribution to the Earth s GHE (EPA, 2015). Water vapor has an atmospheric lifetime (AL) (defined as the approximate amount of time it would take for the anthropogenic increment to an atmospheric pollutant concentration to return to its natural level (assuming emissions cease) as a result of either being converted to another chemical compound or being taken out of the atmosphere via a sink (EPA, 2013)) of approximately 10 days (EPA, 2015). It is unlike other GHG and unique in the fact that when it reaches high enough concentrations in the atmosphere, it has the ability to condense into H2O liquid and can rain out from the atmosphere back to the surface of the Earth (EPA, 2015). It also acts as a feedback mechanism to climate change (IPCC, 2007; EPA, 2015). This is mainly due to two reasons. The first being that the total amount of H2O vapor that is in the atmosphere at any given time is directly related to the Earth s surface temperature (EPA, 2015). Secondly, the H2O vapor in the atmosphere can affect the formation of clouds which directly influence the GHE by cooling (reflecting heat from the Sun) or by warming (trapping heat in the atmosphere) the surface of the Earth (EPA, 2015). Essentially, any change in clouds such as type, location, water content, altitude, particle size or shape, and lifetimes can influence their effect on the cooling and warming of the Earth (IPCC, 2013). The idea is that Every US citizen should have an equal opportunity to achieve success and prosperity through hard work, determination, and initiative . The most common misconception foreigners have about America, is that the streets are paved with gold and poverty does not exist, when in reality the streets are not paved at all. As an American citizen, I cannot full heartedly believe that people are determined by the country they were born into because I believe that if someone is determined enough to succeed, such a person will. Living in a third world country undoubtedly has its setbacks but it is not a set determination of one s fate. The essay, I Was a Warehouse Wage Slave by Mac McClelland fully supports the idea that people have to fight for what they desire in life, while the other essay s My Summer at an Indian Call Center by Andrew Maran, and, The New Mecca by George Saunderssuggest that success is determined by place of birth. Although the essays disagree about the foundation of success, they have many similarities regarding how people s identities are affected by demanding jobs. All three essays demonstrate that the workers identities are distorted because they are forced to sacrifice their own wants and needs, and to adopt an identity according to their companies preference, so that the shoppers, tourist etc. will be satisfied with the customer service ... • 47. The Golden Age Of A Civil War Across China Essay Daoism appeared as a reaction to a civil war across China, known as the warring states period, which caused a wide feeling of civil unrest. The war went on for nearly two hundred and fifty years and spread across the Zhou Dynasty, which was divided into eight separate states. Daoist believed that war was a result of excessive desire, and only through modest desire will people and the state experience peace and unity. Daoist argued that desire and all actions must be natural, and we must return to nature to establish our balance. To manifest this simplicity and selflessness naturally is the Dao, which is the way of all things. Though in today s world we have strayed far from nature, for reason and excessive desires have corrupted people and their values. Daoist would believe that our society is unbalanced ,and we must return to the path of the Dao to restore our unity. Examples of this are seen when the book talks about the distinctive beatitudes blessed you are poor...hunger now...weep now... and the distinctive woes woes to you that are rich...that are full...that laugh now... which overall say, money and power will tend to bring judgement upon you.
