A. Preparatory Activities
1. Drill
 Have the students measure the length, width and height and
find the volume of the foll0wing:
1. Cabinet
2. Drawer
3. Shoebox
4. Rectangular boxes
B. Developmental Activities
1. Presentation
 Have the pupils solve the problem below.
1. A swimming pool is 12 m long, 9 m wide, and 3 m deep. How much
water can it hold?
 What is asked?
 What are given?
 How will you solve the problem?
 What formula will you use? Write the equation
 Solve the problem and state the complete answer
2. An aquarium is 35 cm long, 25 cm wide, and 24 cm high is to
be filled with water. How many cubic centimetre will be needed?
3. The volume of rectangular box with a length of 6 cm, width of 3
cm is 54 𝑐m3
. Find the value of its height.
2. Fixing Skills
 Find the volume of the cubes below.
3. Generalization
 Ask the pupils:
 How will you find the volume of a cube or rectangular prism?
IV. Evaluation
 Read, think and solve
1. Trixie’s sewing box is 6 dm long, 3.5 dm wide, and 4.3 dm high.
What is its volume?
2. A small gift box has these dimensions: L = 6.2 cm; W = 8 cm and
h = 3.2 cm. What is its volume?
3. The swimming pool when filled to capacity contains 240 cubic meter
of water. If it measures 8 m across, and has a depth of 2 m, how wide
is the pool?
V. Assignment
A. Read and Solve (10 pts, ½ crosswise)
1. The UES foundation donated boxes of canned goods to the typhoon
victims to the super typhoon Yolanda’s victims. The boxes were placed in
a container van. There are 6 layers of 5 boxes in each row. How many
boxes are there in all? What is the volume of the container van using the
boxes?

Learning Content Skills: Applying the measurement of volume of a prism Reference: BEC-PELC III.1.3 Mathematics 5: Mathematics for the Better Future,Coronel and Bamba, pp. 264-265 Materials: PPT presentation, Copies of word problems Value: Patience III. Learning Experiences A. Preparatory Activities 1. Drill  Have the students measure the length, width and height and find the volume of the foll0wing: 1. Cabinet 2. Drawer 3. Shoebox 4. Rectangular boxes B. Developmental Activities 1. Presentation  Have the pupils solve the problem below. 1. A swimming pool is 12 m long, 9 m wide, and 3 m deep. How much water can it hold?  What is asked?  What are given?  How will you solve the problem?  What formula will you use? Write the equation  Solve the problem and state the complete answer 2. An aquarium is 35 cm long, 25 cm wide, and 24 cm high is to be filled with water. How many cubic centimetre will be needed? 3. The volume of rectangular box with a length of 6 cm, width of 3 cm is 54 𝑐m3 . Find the value of its height.

Evaluation  Read, think and solve 1. Trixie’s sewing box is 6 dm long, 3.5 dm wide, and 4.3 dm high. What is its volume? 2. A small gift box has these dimensions: L = 6.2 cm; W = 8 cm and h = 3.2 cm. What is its volume? 3. The swimming pool when filled to capacity contains 240 cubic meter of water. If it measures 8 m across, and has a depth of 2 m, how wide is the pool? V. Assignment A. Read and Solve (10 pts, ½ crosswise) 1. The UES foundation donated boxes of canned goods to the typhoon victims to the super typhoon Yolanda’s victims. The boxes were placed in a container van. There are 6 layers of 5 boxes in each row.
