COMPETENCY- BASED SCIENCE NAT - VI INTERVENTION PROGRAM: ACTION RESEARCH
This document outlines a study on a science competency-based intervention program for 6th grade students at Union Elementary School. It includes an introduction discussing the background and problem statement, as well as the objectives, scope, definitions, methodology, results and discussion, conclusion, and recommendations. The study aimed to investigate the effects of the intervention program on students' science test performance. Research showed that students achieved and exceeded the 75% baseline required by the Department of Education on test scores after the program. The intervention program was found to be effective regardless of students' age or gender.

Science Competency BasedNAT Intervention Program on Grade Six Union Elementary School 2013
ABSTRACT
The achievement rate of Grade 6 examinees of Union Elementary School
in the NAT approximates a disparaging status quo performance for the past six
years. Over the years, they performed best in Filipino in contrast with the
remaining subjects: Math, HeKaSi and English are leaving Science as the lowest
achieving subject in the NAT.
This action research investigated the effect of the science competency
based NAT intervention program for the grade six pupils in Union Elementary
School.
The researcher constructed a task module to be operated in the
intervention program and made use of a content validated and reliability tested
Science Test Questionnaire as its assessment tool to assess the science test
performance of the grade six pupils.
Research showed that respondents achieved and even exceeded in the
targeted 75% baseline required by the Department of Education. A significant
difference in the respondents’ test scores was noted ascertaining the
effectiveness of the remediation program. This research also found out that age
brackets and gender of the respondents has nothing to do with their test scores
in the influence of the intervention program.
