Honesty
• Be truthful in every part of your research.
• Accurately report your goals, what you did, and what you found.
• Give credit to other researchers' work.
• Don't make up data or exaggerate your findings.
Rigor
• Do your research carefully and use the right tools and methods.
• Follow the plan you set out for your research.
• Make sure your conclusions are based on your findings.
Transparency and Open Communication
• Be upfront about anything that could influence your research (like funding
or personal beliefs).
• Clearly explain how you collected and analyzed your data.
• Share your findings with others, even if you didn't get the results you
expected.
• Make your work accessible to other researchers and the public.
Care and Respect
• Treat everyone involved in your research with respect, including people,
animals, the environment, and cultural artifacts.
• Protect the well-being of your research participants.
• Be accurate and honest in recording and preserving your research data.
Accountability
• Shared Responsibility: Funders, employers, and researchers all need
to work together to create a research environment where everyone
feels supported and able to take ownership of their work.
• Taking Ownership: Researchers should take responsibility for their
actions and the quality of their research.
• Addressing Issues: Everyone has a role in addressing behavior that
doesn't meet the agreed-upon standards of research. There should
be systems in place to handle misconduct or irresponsible practices.
