Post Conquest Mexico Essay
In 1521, the fall of Tenochtitlan proved to be an integral piece in the Spanish conquest of Mexico.
After months of devastating warfare between the Aztecs and the Spanish as well as the infection of
smallpox into the Aztec population, the Spanish conquered New Spain (Mexico) as their own,
resulting in the Spanish occupation and rebuilding of Tenochtitlan. The reshaping of the city was an
arduous and complex feat to say the least, as Hernan Cortés faced many challenges following the
satisfying victory of the conquest. In order to determine these various challenges involved in post
conquest Mexico, one must assess the various feats Cortés struggled through as well as Carlos I s
attempts to deal with the chaos in Mexico. The most decisive endeavours that the Spaniards faced
included: fixing a city of ruins, incorporating the indigenous peoples into society, and creating a
Christian basis throughout the land. Thus, post conquest Mexico faced a magnitude of challenges
based on the socio political, religious, and economic values necessary to conceive their perfect image

The significance in solving the problems of rebuilding Tenochtitlan, bringing the natives into the
Spanish homelands, and creating a Christian society in New Spain were integral to the initial success
of the Spanish colonies. Cortés and Carlos I were key players in the promotion of the goals of the
Spanish empire in creating a New Spain that is admired among the Spanish people. Overall, the chaos
and lack of order among the initial framework of New Spain was easily overcome as the communal
effort of the Spaniards led to the creation of their empire through rebuilding a city from ruins after the
conquests. In closing, Cortés was a great leader in the conquest of Mexico and hurdled over the many
obstacles facing New Spain for the good of the

Essay on Traditions in Jacobs Incidents in the Life of a...
A Medley of Traditions in Jacobs Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl
Though considerable effort has been made to classify Harriet Ann Jacobs Incidents in the Life of a
Slave Girl: Written by Herself as another example of the typical slave narrative, these efforts have in
large part failed. Narrow adherence to this belief limits real appreciation of the text s depth and
enables only partial understanding of the author herself Jacobs s story is her own, political yes, but
personal as well. Although she does draw from the genre of her people, the slave narrative, to give life
and limb to her appeal for the eradication of slavery in America, she simultaneously threads a captivity
narrative, a romance, and a seduction novel through ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Approximately sixty five American slave narratives were published in book or pamphlet form before
1865 (Andrews 78). Suffice it to say, the number is astounding, especially considering the minimal
literacy rate among slaves, not to mention the heightened danger posed to an author after a narrative s
publication. But Jacobs and others understood the need for first hand accounts of the horror. Thus,
they took the pen in hand to do their part in strengthening the abolitionist movement. Their motive
being to persuade, a particular style developed among these autobiographers, one proven successful
over time in winning converts to their cause. It is by no means an accident then that Incidents includes
the typical elements of a slave narrative text.
For instance, in her deference to the genre Jacobs repeatedly refers to scripture. When she denounces
northerners for returning runaways to their southern masters dens full of dead men s bones, and all
uncleanness, she is quoting Matthew 23:37 (Jacobs 2215). Later she mentions Job 3:17 19, There the
wicked cease from troubling, and there the weary be at rest. There the prisoners rest together; they
hear not the voice of the oppressor; the servant is free from his master, in support of a decision to
bring her children North (Jacobs

Film Techniques In The Quiet American
The Quiet American uses a wide range of film techniques to tell a compelling and enjoyable narrative,
even the dialogue is a little bit choppy at times. In retrospect, some of these film techniques were
highly successful while others were incredibly detrimental to the motion picture. Perhaps the most
noticeable film technique the movie used, and therefore perhaps the most debatable, is the immense
foreshadowing that takes place at the beginning of the movie. In the first five minutes of the film, the
audience already knows that one of the main characters will be stabbed to death. Although this does
not make reaching the end of the movie impossible, the movie would have no doubtingly had a much
greater hangover effect had Pyle s death been a complete surprise. On the flipside, the scenes in The
Quiet American were diverse and well produced. For example, the explosions in the movie did not
feel out of place (AKA Michael Bay ish). Also, there is a huge difference between the battlefields of
the north compared to Saigon in the south. As a result, the movie does an excellent job of
encapsulating the massive difference between the north s brutality and the south s beauty. ... Show

According to the course so far, I find this scene interesting for two reasons. To begin, the battle was a
major turning point against the French, but I do not remember there being an unrestricted massacre of
the Vietnamese people. Furthermore, no side in the movie claimed responsibility for the massacre
when historically the French were severely defeated as the North celebrated a major victory.
Nevertheless, the movie s focus seemed to be more about the motives of the individual characters and
what they represented by their actions rather than historical accuracy. In contrast, Indochine seemed to
focus more on the French brutality and the war of

Simulation of the Coiling of a Polymer Strand
Simulation of the Coiling of a polymer strand

27th Feb 2012
1. Abstract
This study will examine the temperature dependence of internal energy, heat capacity and R2 value
(representative of the end to end distance) using a Langevin Dynamics simulation. It will also consider
the dependence of the internal energy, heat capacity and R2 value with increasing polymer chain
length. Internal energy has been found to be is negative at low temperatures, increases linearly with
temperature and becomes positive at high temperatures. Heat capacity seems to increase linearly with
a higher number of atoms in the chain due to additional atoms storing additional ... Show more content

The time step 0.005fs gives a mean energy error (standard deviation) of around 0.01% of the mean
value. This is an acceptable level of accuracy. The hottest system has been chosen for this test because
it will have the most kinetic energy and atoms will move the most. Therefore the system will be the
most volatile and have the biggest uctuations from the mean energy value. Thus a time step at this
high temperature will be as accurate or more at any lower temperature.
Figure 1: Graph of temperature vs. Equilibration time.
Initially there is a temperature peak which will inuence the accuracy of the data.
By choosing a time after which
temperature remains fairly constant will minimize uctuations in the rest of the data and optimize its
accuracy. However, the longer the equilibration time the longer the simulation will take. Therefore an
equilibration time of 700fs has been assigned. The coldest system has been used for this experiment.
The colder the system the slower the atoms will move and thus the longer it will take for the polymer
to reach its equilibrium state. Therefore the coldest system will give the largest equilibration time,
meaning at any higher target temperature the system will take less long to equilibrate. This will ensure
the data is accurate at all temperatures.

South African Government Denied The Non White Population...

History Year 9
Rights and Freedoms
Final
This research essay is about how the South African Government denied the non white population the
same human rights as the white population during the period of Apartheid law from 1948 to 1994.
Apartheid, which is an Afrikaans word meaning apartness , was a social and political system of white
minority government in South Africa. During apartheid, the rights of black South Africans were
denied under the United Nations Declaration of Human Rights Articles. The apartheid laws that were
introduced by the government contradicted many of the UN Declaration of Human Rights articles,
especially Articles 3, 5 and 6.
The Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) is a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Article 3 states that Everyone has the right to life, liberty and security of person , which in simple
terms means that everyone has the right to live in freedom and safety.
The racist, all white Afrikaner Nationalist Party introduced laws that denied the rights of black South
Africans and contravened Article 3 of the UDHR. Two of the laws enforced during Apartheid violated
Article 3 with respect to denying their right to live in freedom without racial discrimination and
segregation from the white community. Apartheid laws introduced Acts like the 1950 Act No 30,
Population Registration Act which required all South Africans to be racially classified into four racial
groups; Bantu (South African natives), coloured (mixed race), white and Asian (immigrants from
India). They also introduced the 1951 Bantu Authorities Act, which was a law that created black
reserves called homelands. The homelands were independent states that all black people were
relocated to which denied them their South African citizenship and voting rights.
(www.mtholyoke.edu, South Africa and the Apartheid, Life During the Apartheid )
There were major consequences for the black South African population while living under these
particular laws. The 1950 Act No 30 Population Registration Act forced all South Africans over the
age of 16 to carry racial identification cards based on their skin colour which often meant that family
members were classified into different racial groups. Blacks had

Thesis statement: Globalization arouses matters to develop developing countries economy.
â… . Excessive outflows of brain and money.
A. Studying abroad and immigration keeps increasing.
B. Cultural toadyism and international vogue decrease consumption of own country s products.
â…¡. Excessive competition in the world market A. Developing countries have low competitiveness. B.
Each of countries evades cooperation with other countries. â…¢. Increase of economic polarization A. A
lot of people who live in developing countries are afflicted with the exploitation of labor by
multinational corporations.
B. Child labor keeps increasing.
Developing countries are adversely affected by globalization, especially in economy area.
Globalization is a process which the world interconnection keeps increasing so it is possible to trade
or exchange cultures conveniently. In the past, it was anticipated to develop a whole of countries
economy or technology and solve some environmental issues such as air pollution or global warming.
Unfortunately, until these days, the result of globalization does not reach 50% of economists
expectation. The major reason of the evaluation is in spite of the fact that it provides advantages,
globalization increase the gap between rich and poor. One of the biggest victims is developing
countries. They suffer a great loss from the drawbacks of globalization. These are excessive outflows
of brain and money, excessive competition in the world market, and Increase of economic
polarization.
First of all, a lot of people and money dwindle away in developing countries. This problem is
appeared by people who are planning to study abroad or emigrate. Through the Internet, people can
share other s life. By comparing one another, some low income countries citizens can make a plan to
seek employment or learning in other countries. To have education in other countries, people who are
earning money in their countries should consume immoderate cost for overseas students. It means
excessive oversea students induce threaten their home countries economy because less dough is

Anne Bradstreet s Here Follows Some Follows Upon The...
An elegy, a poem written in honor of a deceased. It mourns the death of an individual through looking
at the bright side. It can release stress because of all the emotions that could not be held in anymore.
This can be clearly portrayed in Anne Bradstreet s Here Follows Some Verses upon the Burning of
Our House and Thomas Gray s Elegy Written in Country Churchyard. Both of the writers have
feelings of depression. The writers bring up subtle comparisons between the poem and themselves.
The arising themes remain constant through spirituality. In both of the stories, there is an identified
preposition of melancholy, potential, and spirituality.
To start off with the poem Here Follows Some Verses upon the Burning of Our House, Anne
Bradstreet sets up the tone of sadness and says that she was awakened by a noise, a voice screaming
fire and how heartbreaking it was to lose her home and possessions (Elegy 178). Bradstreet describes
how her home looks after the incident. Her and her family have to start all over again. Bradstreet feels
like everything has been taken away from her and will not be able to move on in line. She is having
feelings of melancholy. Consequently, Bradstreet has an epiphany and says, Adieu, adieu, all s vanity
(Elegy 179). This means that she is saying all her possessions are worthless. This is a turning point in
Bradstreet s life that she was gifted with. She now sees how her ambition, potential, and hope can
change her future life. She had been taking

Crowd Psychology
The question that I intend to study is: How do shy people react in a crowd? (do they become
aggressive/ assertive as per mob psychology, or shrink as per their personality)? There are various
theories regarding the mode of behavior in a crowd. Some, such as Freud, posit that people behavior
changes in a crowd and they become more restless and less individualistic. Mob theory, in fact, is born
form this which asserts that crowds are the source of volatile conduct where diverse people gang
together for a particular cause. Minds merge and each person s enthusiasm becomes increased as a
result. On the other hand, you have the Convergence theory that posits that the cause is born
beforehand and that people join the crowd in order to put their cause into practice. The crowd, in other
words, enables them to accomplish their objective and it makes them more enthusiastic and
entrenched in their mission. Social psychologists leBon (1895) and Zimbardo (1969) see the crowd as
an instigator of individuation. Stimuli such as mergence into a larger whole, the rush of the
environment, the pressure of the crowd, the sensory overload and so forth blur mental input and
causes a deindivdualistic individual to appear. One thing that is remarkable about all of these theories
is that they tend to generalize assuming categorical behavior to all individuals and providing the
aspect of crowd with anthropomorphic qualities. Indeed, Schweingruber and Wohlstein
(PsyBlog.com) point out that crowd

Copper Life Cycle Essay
Copper is a metal that has been used by humans essentially since the beginning of existence as it is
said to be only the second metal used by man after gold. Therefore, copper production has been an
important part of life for thousands or years and still is today. The copper cycle is an important
because it provides a basis for how copper can be recovered from various compounds that it exists in
during its so called life cycle . The life cycle of copper conserves this now scarce metal by allowing

Reaction one was an exothermic reaction. This was determined simply because when nitric acid was
mixed with the copper wire a significant amount of heat was given off to the surroundings, therefore
the reaction had to be exothermic. Reaction two was exothermic as well. This was determined because
precipitation reactions are always exothermic as the formation of a solid is a decrease in entropy so
delta S is negative which means that enthalpy would be negative, therefore it is an exothermic
reaction. Reaction three is an endothermic reaction. This was determined simply because a
decomposition reaction is carried out through the addition of energy, usually heat to break down a
compound, therefore the addition of heat to carry out to the reaction means it has to be endothermic.
Reaction four was exothermic. This was determined because it was an acid base neutralization
reaction. Acid base neutralization reactions are always exothermic as they release heat from the
system to the surroundings. Reaction five was endothermic. This was determined because the reaction
sped up when heated. The reduction of Copper Sulfate to Copper occurred at room temperate when
Hydrochloric Acid and Aluminum were combined. However, when the beaker was put on a hot plate
the reaction occurred noticeably faster therefore indicating that it

involves a written agreement that illustrates the fields of cooperation in detail. The number of regional

Discrepancies and Similarities between Shakespeare s The...
During the eleventh century, an age of discordance, people quarrel over the throne and its succession.
William Shakespeare, a playwright of the Renaissance, sculpts events from this era into a dramatic
sequence of events. The Tragedy of Macbeth displays Macbeth, a zealous thane, and his successful
homicide which results in his succession of the throne and his downfall. Each of The Tragedy of
Macbeth by William Shakespeare and history has discrepancies as well as similarities between its
characters, settings, and plot events.
One element that varies and coincides between Shakespeare s Macbeth and its historical account is the
characters. According to Shakespeare, Macbeth has a right to the throne through his title: Hail to thee,

Macbeth announces that Duncan is going to die while he is asleep in Macbeth s castle (II, i, 63 64).
Shakespeare and history both say that Duncan dies in 1040, but historical accounts say that Duncan
dies in a battle near Elgin rather than in Macbeth s castle as Shakespeare describes (Encyclopaedia).
Shakespeare tells that Macbeth s crowning takes place in 1040 at Scone: He is already named, and
gone to Scone / To be invested (II, iv, 31 32). Macduff tells Ross that Macbeth is already going to
Scone to get the crown so that he can become king (II, iv, 31 32). Parallel to Shakespeare s rendition,
history states that Macbeth, like all Scottish kings between Kenneth I and Charles II, goes to Scone to
get the crown when he becomes king in 1040 (Columbia University). In Macbeth, Macbeth dies in a
field near Dunsinane in 1057: Though Birnam Wood be come to Dunsinane, / And though opposed,
being of no woman born, / Yet I will try the last. Before my body / I throw my warlike shield (V, viii,
30 32). Macbeth says this right before his bloody death near Dunsinane (V, viii, 30 32). The
Shakespearean version is akin to history in that Macbeth s death takes place in 1057, but the two are
also dissimilar due to the fact that history states that Macbeth s death took place at Lumphanan
(Encyclopaedia). Most of the settings in Macbeth occur at the same times that historical

The Babylonian Exile And The Color Purple Essay
Conceptions of God has the ability to be altered in order to mediate and bring together social and
political forces, as seen in Alice Walker s The Color Purple and the Babylonian Exile. Both examples
display the challenges some experience with their perception of God and how their outlook impacts
outlying forces. These forces, specifically social and political, are prevalent in the individual s daily
lives, causing them to confront the conflicts that exist between these forces and how their viewpoint of
God can interfere and aid in mediating the forces. The struggle to find a definite view of God is
highlighted in an excerpt from Alice Walker s The Color Purple, where the two main characters, Celie
and Shug, discuss what they believe to be their own conception of God. Celie described her perception
of God as being big and old and tall and gray bearded and white as ... Show more content on

The Babylonian Exile was a time in which Jewish people were exiled from Jerusalem and forced to
live in Babylon as captives. During the Babylonian Exile, many Jewish people had only faith to hold
onto as a way of staying strong and not succumbing to their situation and perceived God, or Jeremiah,
as their light and support system. In a letter to the Babylon Exiles from the prophet Jeremiah, he gives
words of wisdom to the exiles by encouraging them to maintain their faith, reproduce and emphasized
the need to hear the word of the LORD as those who have not will receive severe punishment. In their
case, the Israelites perception of God grew stronger to aid them in their situation, as well as help
mediate the social and political forces that were apparent during this time. They were able to create a

Re: Racial Disparity in Dallas County
April 16, 2017
Issue Presented: How can the societal issues of racial disparity be addressed on the state and local
levels?
Short Answer: Some of the key historical events that are referenced most often in regard to racial
disparity include the unarmed beating of Rodney King, the racial profiling of a black Harvard
professor, and the many unwarranted shootings and deaths of black men across the nation. But for
these few named instances, these are the ones that are indicative of the many differences that mold the
way the criminal justice system is perceived in society today. Eliminating critical criminal disparities
within the criminal justice system should be one of many practices that should be addressed. These

Aging Population In Canada
A rapidly aging population and declining birth rate present a problem to policymakers as far as
dynamic demand drivers in the economy, increase in health care costs, reduction in the working age
population and unsustainable pension commitments are concerned (Beaujot, Ravanera, 2013). This is
the major socio economic problem that is being witnessed in the province of Quebec, Canada. The
standards of living of the people in the province have been greatly affected as the issue intensifies.
Aging population has significantly affected economic development in the province as the government
tends to focus more resources on tackling the issue instead of concentrating on more progressive
projects. This paper provides an opinion based analysis on the problem of aging population and
declining birth rate in the province of Quebec in Canada.
Low population in Quebec has been something that the province has been facing. This is because of
the continuous drop in the number of births coupled with the rapidly aging population. According to
the provincial statistics bureau, 1.6 children per woman was witnessed in 2015 which is a drop by one
percent compared to the 2014 statistics. The birth rate of the province has been going down from the
year 2009. The fertility rate of the province was 1.60 in the year 2016 (Beaujot, Ravanera, 2013). This
problem of low birth rate puts the future generation at risk and it has already affected the economy of
the province.

Current Trends And New Trends
Trend is a synonym of innovation and change, and by applying these concepts, new opportunism
might arise, as well as new challenges. However, this is expected, especially in the scientific world
and medical field. The scientific world is always evolving; scientists will always follow new trends in
order to improve what already has been stablished. Some of these trends can be helpful because they
might be facilitating and assisting scientists to get a more accurate and better result. Specially, the
need for new trends in the healthcare field are vital to enhance the quality of care provided, some of

On the other hand, without a doubt The Affordable Care Act or commonly known as Obamacare is
one of the most trending topics that has a great impact on not just the clinical portion of the healthcare
field, but also management. Obama care tries to increase the quality, availability, and affordability of
private and public health insurance to over 44 million uninsured (An Independent Site for ACA
Advice,2017). In other words, Obamacare tries to enable everyone to have the same degree of care
disregardless their income or insurance company. Unfortunately, Obamacare is about to collapse due
to the multiple efforts made by elected President Donald Trump. Trump has questioned the
effectiveness and benefits of Obamacare to the public. Trump states that due to Obama care a lot
insurances company are disappearing due the fact that they are not receiving/making enough. For
instances, Obamacare affects the management and clinical setting by doctors complaining about not
getting payed enough; which makes some doctors bias about the patients they want to see. However,
Obamacare can be most beneficial to low income people that cannot afford healthcare; Obamacare
tries to incorporate and promote equality in the health care field and among insurance companies.

Are there particular categories of products or users who might see Linux as more appealing than
conventional operating systems? Do you think Linux s share of the desktop market will increase? Why
or why not?
Linux, or what is here and there known as Unix on a lesser scale is considered and institutionalized on
the premise of an open source framework and free for conveyance (Eckert, 2016). The principle
reason we see Linux utilized on a constrained premise is because we live in a prevalently Windows

Jamaica Kincaid s Essay A Small Place
In Jamaica Kincaid s essay, A Small Place , she is acknowledges how the Antiguans hurts themselves,
as they fail to see the pathetic irony that exists within their country. According to Kincaid, the
Antiguans see slavery as a time in which a bunch of ships dropped off slaves, the ancestors of the
Antiguans, to work under brutal conditions for many years. Then, as though it were magic, all of a
sudden the day of emancipation arrives, in the eyes of the ignorant Antiguans, and all the slaves are
freed. As Kincaid notes, the Antiguans speak of emancipation as if it were yesterday and as if slavery
was a recent occurrence to their peoples, when, in actuality, the slaves were freed roughly one hundred
fifty years ago. However, at the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

In describing the misconception the current Antiguans have about slavery, which something none of

to show the textbook view that the Antiguans have regarding slavery. Kincaid, as she states how the

as all emotional connection with slavery is removed. When describing how commonly Antiguans use
the words emancipation , even though they are detached, the word is used three times during the
course of three sentences, proving how the word has become trite amongst Antiguans. Because of the
clichéd words and phrases Kincaid uses, the ignorance that Antiguans have towards their serious

Women And Domestic Marriage In The Victorian Period
The Victorian Period was the era of British Monarch; Queen Victoria, in this era women had
extremely limited right s. Women were not giving the choice to vote, sue or own any property. In
addition to that, they lost ownership of their wages, all of their physical belongings, and every other
cash they were able to generate once they were married. In fact, once women got married they legally
became property to their husbands, giving them ownership over their body. Meaning that they had the
right to use their wives body for: children, any sexual activity and/or domestic labor. Therefore, their
mutual matrimonial consent became a contract of women giving themselves to their husband s as they

The majority of women in that period did not have the option to decide whether they wanted to get
married or not, it was a necessity in order to survive. Once these women were married it was
extremely difficult, if not impossible, to get divorced. Husbands could be having affairs with other
women, or abusing their wives, and still divorce was considered a social taboo. As a matter of fact,
many authors from this era used to address social issues, like the degradation of wives, in their
writing. Most of the authors that wrote pro feminist books, novels and/or articles were females, yet
there were a few male authors like: George Gissing, George Meredith and Grant Allen, who also

The Odd Woman a novel by; George Gissing, talks about the roles of women in society such as
marriage, morals and the early feminist movement in the Victorian Period. Most middle class women

Dorothea Lange Migrant Mother Summary
In the article, Dorothea Lange, Migrant Mother, and the Culture of the Great Depression by James C.
Curtis, we understand what it takes to get the perfect photo to represent a message. Dorothea Lange
became very popular during her time and is known especially for her photo, Migrant Mother, which
documents life during the Great Depression. James C. Curtis does a good job explaining the artistic
decisions to this most famous shot and how many different steps Lange took in order to really create a
powerful message depicting life in poverty. Curtis begins this article by describing how Lange was a
little different from traditional documentary photographers. Tradition was honesty, directness, and a
lack of manipulation. Lange and other influential photographers like Walker Evans, knew that they
had to document life with a purpose but in order to really convey their message they had to include
artistic elements. Aesthetic was an important part of her work, she wanted her photos to have an
artistic value which could help capture the universal struggle of those living in poverty. In order to do
this she had to do many different shots with different angles, different positions of the subjects, and
sometimes including or excluding certain sitters. For example the teenage daughter of the family was
excluded in some of the photos because it presented awkward questions. According to Curtis, While
middle class viewers were sympathetically disposed to the needs of impoverished

Human Imagination Is A Powerful Force For Good Or Evil...
From our Creator s perspective, human imagination is a powerful force for good or evil purposes. In
His estimation, nothing that a united and ungodly people could imagine would be impossible to them.
This is why He created language barriers among the people at Babel. Before, everyone spoke one
language. However, they became too independently intelligent for their own good and turned against
their Creator; their minds were clouded with pride at the thought of reaching the heavens with a
mighty man made tower (Gen. 11).
Knowing the importance of human imagination, Jesus often presented life changing insight from the
Kingdom of Heaven in the form of similes. This made the Kingdom of Heaven easier to grasp. The
Holy Spirit used something familiar to the listeners, appealing to their imaginations, to reveal
important truths. For example, Matthew 13 states:

Questions On The And Law
When deliberating upon legal quandaries law students and attorneys engage upon a five component
process to scrutinize all the dynamics of a legal premise(s). Litigators and law students denote this
process as IRAC (Issue, Rule, Application, and Conclusion). Therefore, IRAC is simply the blueprint
for analyzing a legal dispute. While legal dilemmas can become tedious, time consuming,
overwhelming, and extremely complex, IRAC methodology can make the process somewhat easier.
Hence, IRAC process forces the litigator to apply critical thinking (Metzler, 2003). Furthermore,
Metzler states, the litigator must have a comprehensive understanding of the following: Issue What is
the central question regarding the tort? Is this a civil or lawsuit? Rule What law(s) govern the issue at
hand? The litigator must research many laws to determine which case or cases apply to a particular
case. The litigator will also determine which rule(s) is better suited for the special case. Application
How does the rule apply to the case? Understanding how the rule applies to the case may allow the
litigator to predict the outcome of litigation. Conclusion Provides the answer to the issue statement.
When a litigator uses the IRAC tool, he or she will become better prepared to represent adequately
either civil or lawsuit dilemma(s). The IRAC Method The IRAC method is a tool that is used in the
legal profession to compose an analysis of a legal case that is being studied and is the

Natural Selection Is The Outcome Of Inheritance, Variance,...
Natural selection is the outcome of inheritance, variance, and differential reproduction and can operate
at many if not all levels of the taxonomic hierarchy (Bergstrom Dugatkin, 2012). If the level meets the
requirements of natural selection, it may be acted upon. Natural selection can vary in the force of
selection between each level in the hierarchy and depends highly on the amount of units within the
level. The higher the taxonomic level the less units, less variation and multiplication that is found. The
levels in which natural selection operates and the strength of its force will be discussed moving down
the hierarchy of genes, cells, individuals, populations composed of closely related kin, and groups of

Most diploid species maintain a one to one sex ratio because it is evolutionarily stable (Fisher, 1930).
However, when population ratios do not fit the Fisherian sex ratio of one to one, selection will favor
the gene/allele that is in limited supply until their frequency is greater or equal to the competing gene
(Fisher, 1930). Therefore, selection works at the level of the gene in maintaining evolutionarily stable
Fisherian sex ratios. Not only does natural selection operate at the level of the gene, it has also been
found to operate at the level of the cell. Since different cell types within an individual have different
rates of division, the morphology of organisms results from selection at the level of the cell
(Lewontin, 1970). Natural selection is a strong force at the cellular level due to high levels of variation
and therefore multiplication, and heredity which favors the cell lineages that are better adapted to
leaving behind descendent cells (Smith, 1987). An example of natural selection operating at the level
of the cell is shown by clonal selection theory of immunity where normal tissue repair and neoplastic
growth are results of natural selection at the cellular level (Lewonith, 1970). Normal tissue repair
occurs as a response to destruction of tissue, where certain cell types reproduce faster than normal in
order to repair the tissue, then returns to a normal rate after repair (Lewonith, 1970).

The Influence of Too Much Violence on Children
In April 2008 at Taylor Elementary, a K 5 school in Hunting Park, a male child held a knife against the
throat of a classmate and threatened to cut off his head if he snitched (Snyder 1). This student, like
many other kindergarten students across the world, is extremely violent. This stems from the student s
violent environment in which he is being raised. Hunting Park, located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania,
is a neighborhood filled with poverty and most importantly a high violent crime rate. Children who
witness domestic and neighborhood violence become more violent themselves because they become
less sensitive to violence, accept violence as normal behavior, and are also at risk for severe
behavioral and psychological problems.
When people, especially children, witness a recurring amount of violence over an extended period of
time, they become less sensitive to violence. One of the largest sources, if not the largest source, for
witnessing a recurring amount of violence is the media. Every day 21 kids kill someone or commit
suicide, and many more are left permanently disabled or injured. When the general public hears stories
similar to this told on the news, it should have an effect on them. They might think about those stories
sometime throughout the day, because the stories are horrible things to hear about. The news tells
stories involving child/teen violence, or just inhumane acts of violence in general, so often that a
viewer doesn t think twice about it. The loss

Weekend sports on TV have long been the prime time for beer, car, and entertainment advertisers to

that pushes the envelope of what is acceptable for the original geek buyers and the target mainstream
buyer. Samsung aired their sexualized ad, Seductive Motion, in 2012 and surprisingly achieved chart
topping results with the mainstream buyer base. Shocking results are not new for the ever changing
technology industry but these related to Samsung s new advertisement defy trends for technological

that warranted a positive response from the mainstream consumer and how has nerd culture been

The Samsung Smart TV with motion control commercial uses sexual stereotypes and humor to create
not only a desire for the woman, but also the TV being sold. The ad begins with music playing in the
style of the movie Who Framed Roger Rabbit and shows a man working in a high rise office building

Freedom is often viewed by having the right to be independent or to be free from servitude, constraint,

Freedom has a different meaning to different people; for example kids, adults and different races.
Socially, politically, and religiously the word freedom fits into different categories with different
meanings depending on who thinks about the word. Freedom has a wide range of definitions that

When it comes to politics, people become very serious. Kids do not have much of a say in politics
when they are younger than 18, but once they turn 18, they can vote to elect someone to run office.
The problem with this is most young teens today do not know what is actually being said in office.
Teens think it would be funny or cool to vote for someone when the whole world could crash. The
word freedom effects teens in this way because they think oh, I have the right to be free and have free
speech which is true but that statement can not be taken lightly. Most young teens do not have a clue
about politics and vote anyways causing the voting pole to increase towards one person running in
office and it could be where that person is not favorited by the older generation. Adults on the other
hand are from an older generation who has deeper knowledge of politics. The word freedom for adults
politically could mean that they can vote for who they want to because they are free to do so. Having
two generations of people and different races politically can cause problems with the freedom to vote.
Also, African Americans have a different view on freedom politically. African Americans can have
very much the same view of an adult as well as having their own independent view. In this case
politically the word freedom means anyone can have the right to vote and have free speech. Religious
beliefs can often affect the word freedom as

modern medicine refrains from it instead choosing to embrace a more mechanistic view of the body
whereas, in contrast, Native American healing practices embrace spirituality. In fact indigenous
practices consider the spirit an inseparable element of healing, placing importance on the spirit of the
patient, healer, patient s family, community, environment, and even the medicine itself. More
specifically, the healing must take in account the dynamics between all of these spiritual forces as a
part of the universal spirit. In contrast to Western medical view s that focus on fixing unique body
parts in distinct individuals that are separate from each other and their environment, Native Americans
believe that we are all part of a whole that is greater than the sum of parts, and therefore, healing must
be considered within this context (Johnston 131). This sense of connection can be observed by the
concluding phrase of healing prayers with the words mitakuyo oyasin, or all my

The Government s Support During Domestic Disasters
The political leadership The role of the FEMA is to coordinate federal government s support during
domestic disasters. There are some politicians such as former presidential candidate Mitt Romney who
believe states and the private sector should actually have the sole responsibility of managing
emergencies in response to to natural disasters in their jurisdiction (Duffy, 2012). But one has to
question; do states have the resources to manage their own natural disasters? Hurricane Katrina shows
us individual states do not have the resources necessary to recover from large disasters. It was not
until after the federal government responded with food, water, and man power that the states and their
citizens were able to get the relief they so ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Political connections or knowledge of elected officials in state and local government have a direct
impact on the amount of resources received or if it is even received. Garrett and Sobel give an
example where a governor submits a request to the president for disaster assistance. They add that the
president decides if a state is considered a disaster area, and that decision has a direct impact on if the
disaster relief funds are dispersed (2003). Over all, politicians want to ensure their political capital
increases. Therefore, their motivation is not only to deliver effective and superior services during
times of crisis but also capitalize on the occasion/crisis.
The business community/ Supporters and benefactors of the service
The community has a great deal of influence on the area s values, including the appropriate methods
of delivering care to survivors and living victims (Alexander 1993). Moreover, the business
community s ability to restart operation can change the perspective of the public as they can either see
the entire locality being handicapped by the incident or their ability to recover and function effectively
as a whole. Thus, when the general public experiences panic, the experience can further be applied to
economic behavior connected with the operations of businesses (Alexander 1993).
During natural disasters, there are benefactors and various

Lord Of The Rings The Fellowship Of The Ring Essay
The Lord of the Rings the Fellowship of the Ring In ancient times the Rings of Power were crafted by
the Elven smiths, and the Dark Lord, forged the one ring, filing it with his own power so that he could
rule all other. But the one ring was taken from him, and though he sought it throughout Middle Earth,
it remained lost to him. After many years it fell into the hands of Bilbo Baggins, a hobbit of all
creatures. In a sleepy village in the Shire, young Frodo Baggins finds himself faced with an immense
task as his elderly cousin entrusts the ring to his care. Frodo must leave his home and make a perilous

Examples Of Jewish Resistance
Jews Fight Back Resistance is the refusal to accept or comply with something ( Dictionary ). The
Holocaust occurred between 1939 and 1945 in Germany (history.com). It was a period of time during
WWII where the jewish population were forced to follow and obey the Nazi s which meant being sent
to concentration camps and later extermination camps in order to achieve racial purity . This was
called the Final Solution . Countless of Jews resisted during this time hoping to stop the cruelty and
torture. During the Holocaust, Jews used armed and unarmed forms of resistance in order to retain
their humanity. Armed resistance was a way for the Jewish people to stand up for themselves. An
example of this type of resistance, is when the Jews attacked the Germans with homemade and
smuggled weapons. As stated in the Jewish resistance article, as German SS and police units entered
the ghetto, members of the Jewish Fighting Organization (zydowska organizacja bojowa: ZOB) and
other Jewish groups attacked German tanks with molotov cocktails, hand grenades, ... Show more

They did all they could do without being caught and most did it successfully. For example, they made
conscious attempts to preserve the history and communal life of the jewish people despite Nazi efforts
to eradicate the jews from human memory. These efforts included: creating jewish cultural
institutions, continuing to observe religious holidays and rituals, providing clandestine education,
publishing underground newspapers, and collecting and hiding documentation ( Spiritual ). This
shows that despite what was going on around them and all the violence, they found a way to resist
peacefully. This was a hard time for the Jews but they managed to find a way to remain hopeful.
Another non violently way jews resisted was keeping records and writing everything

A Bright Room Called Day by Tony Kushner
I saw the play A Bright Room Called Day by Tony Kushner on the 1st of November. I can say for sure
that plays are always different and this play was completely different from the one we watched a
couple weeks ago Rent . This play is serious in its content , it is a specific historical play, which took
place in Germany, more exactly Berlin, in the 1930s. The story is about five good friends during the
time of the rise of Adolf Hitler and the Nazi party, the time before World War II. The story surrounded
the main character Agnes, who just loves her home and lives on her own and she thinks that
everything will be alright as long as she stays away from negative influences. Representational and
presentational acting can be seen in this play and helps us understand the character more. The
characters acting I want to focus on is Vealtinc Husz, the lover of Agnes played by Chase Byrd. He is
a one eyed Hungarian director of movies, who moved to Berlin to became a part of the communist
revolution party and ended up meeting the love of his life, Agnes. The main idea of his work, what he
was interested in, was to promote propaganda art and also to develop some promotional ideas and
changes in the communist community. Husz s problem (and maybe not the best side of his character)is
that he talks more rather taking action. One type of acting shown by the character of Husz is
representational. This type of acting is playing from the inside. Husz is a person who doesn t know a

Empire Rising Character Analysis
Michael Briody, one of the bravest characters in Empire Rising, has a history of fighting for Britain in
World War I and also for the IRA during the Irish Civil War. Having a history of violence made him
perfect for moving to New York and becoming an assassin for the IRA. Briody works on the Empire
State Building to cover his illegal action with the IRA. He will later realize the significance of
working on the building. The building gives Briody the chance to figure out what he really seeks for in
life. Later in the novel he falls in love with Grace Masterson as they share a familiar past. His love
towards Grace helps him want to make a change in his life and leave all of his devastating past behind.
Through Briody s tough battles and love for Grace, he realized that he would want to find a change in
his life. Briody develops a considerable passion working on the Empire State Building. He labels the
feeling as crazy, but loves knowing that he s part of building something real for people to admire.
Most people might think it s crazy, but I love the work... (189) This quote further explains how Briody
develops the dedication making it the only thing he looked forward to in the day. The dedication he
has creates the personality of being a hard worker. There came a point in the novel where regardless
any injuries was willing to work. Working on the building was dangerous, even when Briody smashed
his finger, it was no excuse for him to miss work. This brings to believe that

Society In Lord Of The Flies Persuasive Essay
Being silenced from sharing your thoughts because of how people see you, is one of the worst things
ever. As a hispanic student, the product of two immigrants, I know exactly what that feels like. When
assumptions about a person or group people are not questioned by a society, they are more vulnerable
to dysfunction. In Lord of the Flies, a group of English boys from a boarding school are left stranded
on an island when their plane is shot down amidst the commotion of the world war. The group of
various aged boys, are forced to make a choice between Ralph, the fair looking boy, or Jack, the head
choir boy.As the story progresses, the boys slowly lose their civilization as they get caught up in the
thrill of fending for themselves in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Besides the fact that the boys on the island think of Piggy in only one way, they let it continue and don
t do anything to change their mentality. At another confrontation between Jack and Ralph, Piggy
stands up for his leader, which earns him a punch in the stomach from Jack. Then, Jack [stands] over
him. His voice [is] vicious with humiliation. You would, would you? Fatty! Ralph [makes] a step
forward and Jack [smacks] Piggy s head (Goulding 71). Multiple times, Ralph acknowledges Piggy s
strengths but does not stand up for him enough. Piggy becomes the punching bag for the rest of the
group when they are feeling uneasy. Groups who assumptions are made about also become a sort of
tool to make the rest of the world feel better about themselves. Stella Young reveals that for lots of us,
disabled people are not our teachers or our doctors or our manicurists. [They re] not real. [They] are
there to inspire (Young). Assumptions made about people with disability many times have to do with
them not being able to live a normal life like anyone else. What we don t realize sometimes is that
there are people like them working all around us. But the assumptions grow and do not change in
schools because rarely are staff members with disabilities seen working around with students.
Inspirational speakers with disabilities has become an expectation, which stays

The wolves eat most of their dogs and one of the men and the other man is saved. Meanwhile the pack
of wolves that attacked them split up and one of them, Kiche, has cubs, all the cubs starved to death

Allusions In Beowulf
Many critics have argued whether or not Beowulf is a Christian epic, but I believe that the answer is
fairly clear. Although the characters in the poem are pagan, it is believed that the poet may have been a
Christian monk, which alone hints that it may be a Christian poem. In my opinion, Beowulf is a
Christian epic because of key Biblical references, the sorrow that the poet expresses for the characters,
and the praise the poet gives to his God.
There are numerous references to the Bible in the poem, but I believe that the most important one is
the one that compare Grendel to Cain from the story of Cain and Abel. When Grendel is first
introduced the author writes, Grendel... among the banished monsters, Cain s clan, whom the Creator
had outlawed and condemned as outcasts (Beowulf 102 7). Some may argue that the fact that the
author references the Bible can alone prove that it is a Christian epic, but I think that there is more to
it. At the time the poem is set, killing your brother is considered extremely evil, which is why the
author condemned Unferth at the beginning. Therefore, Cain essentially represents evil as he killed his
brother ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The author proclaims, Oh, cursed is he who in time of trouble has to thrust his soul in the fire s
embrace, forfeiting help; he has nowhere to turn (183 6). By saying this, he essentially shows that he
feels bad that the pagan characters did not know about his real, Christian god. This helps prove that
this is a Christian epic, as a man who does not believe in a Christian god would be very unlikely to
feel bad for someone who did not believe in one either. Obviously, the author has some sort of bias
toward their religion, and assuming that religion is Christianity, that proves that the epic is Christian,
and was written by a Christian

  • 2. Post Conquest Mexico Essay In 1521, the fall of Tenochtitlan proved to be an integral piece in the Spanish conquest of Mexico. After months of devastating warfare between the Aztecs and the Spanish as well as the infection of smallpox into the Aztec population, the Spanish conquered New Spain (Mexico) as their own, resulting in the Spanish occupation and rebuilding of Tenochtitlan. The reshaping of the city was an arduous and complex feat to say the least, as Hernan Cortés faced many challenges following the satisfying victory of the conquest. In order to determine these various challenges involved in post conquest Mexico, one must assess the various feats Cortés struggled through as well as Carlos I s attempts to deal with the chaos in Mexico. The most decisive endeavours that the Spaniards faced included: fixing a city of ruins, incorporating the indigenous peoples into society, and creating a Christian basis throughout the land. Thus, post conquest Mexico faced a magnitude of challenges based on the socio political, religious, and economic values necessary to conceive their perfect image ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The significance in solving the problems of rebuilding Tenochtitlan, bringing the natives into the Spanish homelands, and creating a Christian society in New Spain were integral to the initial success of the Spanish colonies. Cortés and Carlos I were key players in the promotion of the goals of the Spanish empire in creating a New Spain that is admired among the Spanish people. Overall, the chaos and lack of order among the initial framework of New Spain was easily overcome as the communal effort of the Spaniards led to the creation of their empire through rebuilding a city from ruins after the conquests. In closing, Cortés was a great leader in the conquest of Mexico and hurdled over the many obstacles facing New Spain for the good of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Essay on Traditions in Jacobs Incidents in the Life of a... A Medley of Traditions in Jacobs Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl Though considerable effort has been made to classify Harriet Ann Jacobs Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl: Written by Herself as another example of the typical slave narrative, these efforts have in large part failed. Narrow adherence to this belief limits real appreciation of the text s depth and enables only partial understanding of the author herself Jacobs s story is her own, political yes, but personal as well. Although she does draw from the genre of her people, the slave narrative, to give life and limb to her appeal for the eradication of slavery in America, she simultaneously threads a captivity narrative, a romance, and a seduction novel through ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Approximately sixty five American slave narratives were published in book or pamphlet form before 1865 (Andrews 78). Suffice it to say, the number is astounding, especially considering the minimal literacy rate among slaves, not to mention the heightened danger posed to an author after a narrative s publication. But Jacobs and others understood the need for first hand accounts of the horror. Thus, they took the pen in hand to do their part in strengthening the abolitionist movement. Their motive being to persuade, a particular style developed among these autobiographers, one proven successful over time in winning converts to their cause. It is by no means an accident then that Incidents includes the typical elements of a slave narrative text. For instance, in her deference to the genre Jacobs repeatedly refers to scripture. When she denounces northerners for returning runaways to their southern masters dens full of dead men s bones, and all uncleanness, she is quoting Matthew 23:37 (Jacobs 2215). Later she mentions Job 3:17 19, There the wicked cease from troubling, and there the weary be at rest. There the prisoners rest together; they hear not the voice of the oppressor; the servant is free from his master, in support of a decision to bring her children North (Jacobs ... • 6. Film Techniques In The Quiet American The Quiet American uses a wide range of film techniques to tell a compelling and enjoyable narrative, even the dialogue is a little bit choppy at times. In retrospect, some of these film techniques were highly successful while others were incredibly detrimental to the motion picture. Perhaps the most noticeable film technique the movie used, and therefore perhaps the most debatable, is the immense foreshadowing that takes place at the beginning of the movie. In the first five minutes of the film, the audience already knows that one of the main characters will be stabbed to death. Although this does not make reaching the end of the movie impossible, the movie would have no doubtingly had a much greater hangover effect had Pyle s death been a complete surprise. On the flipside, the scenes in The Quiet American were diverse and well produced. For example, the explosions in the movie did not feel out of place (AKA Michael Bay ish). Also, there is a huge difference between the battlefields of the north compared to Saigon in the south. As a result, the movie does an excellent job of encapsulating the massive difference between the north s brutality and the south s beauty. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... According to the course so far, I find this scene interesting for two reasons. To begin, the battle was a major turning point against the French, but I do not remember there being an unrestricted massacre of the Vietnamese people. Furthermore, no side in the movie claimed responsibility for the massacre when historically the French were severely defeated as the North celebrated a major victory. Nevertheless, the movie s focus seemed to be more about the motives of the individual characters and what they represented by their actions rather than historical accuracy. In contrast, Indochine seemed to focus more on the French brutality and the war of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Simulation of the Coiling of a Polymer Strand Simulation of the Coiling of a polymer strand Tsvetoslav Pavlov Department of Materials, Imperial College London, United Kingdom 27th Feb 2012 1. Abstract This study will examine the temperature dependence of internal energy, heat capacity and R2 value (representative of the end to end distance) using a Langevin Dynamics simulation. It will also consider the dependence of the internal energy, heat capacity and R2 value with increasing polymer chain length. Internal energy has been found to be is negative at low temperatures, increases linearly with temperature and becomes positive at high temperatures. Heat capacity seems to increase linearly with a higher number of atoms in the chain due to additional atoms storing additional ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The time step 0.005fs gives a mean energy error (standard deviation) of around 0.01% of the mean value. This is an acceptable level of accuracy. The hottest system has been chosen for this test because it will have the most kinetic energy and atoms will move the most. Therefore the system will be the most volatile and have the biggest uctuations from the mean energy value. Thus a time step at this high temperature will be as accurate or more at any lower temperature. Figure 1: Graph of temperature vs. Equilibration time. Initially there is a temperature peak which will inuence the accuracy of the data. By choosing a time after which temperature remains fairly constant will minimize uctuations in the rest of the data and optimize its accuracy. However, the longer the equilibration time the longer the simulation will take. Therefore an equilibration time of 700fs has been assigned. The coldest system has been used for this experiment. The colder the system the slower the atoms will move and thus the longer it will take for the polymer to reach its equilibrium state. Therefore the coldest system will give the largest equilibration time, meaning at any higher target temperature the system will take less long to equilibrate. This will ensure the data is accurate at all temperatures. 2 Figure 2: T vs. To for 32 atoms.

Social Science Department History Year 9 Rights and Freedoms Final This research essay is about how the South African Government denied the non white population the same human rights as the white population during the period of Apartheid law from 1948 to 1994. Apartheid, which is an Afrikaans word meaning apartness , was a social and political system of white minority government in South Africa. During apartheid, the rights of black South Africans were denied under the United Nations Declaration of Human Rights Articles. The apartheid laws that were introduced by the government contradicted many of the UN Declaration of Human Rights articles, especially Articles 3, 5 and 6. Article 3 states that Everyone has the right to life, liberty and security of person , which in simple terms means that everyone has the right to live in freedom and safety. The racist, all white Afrikaner Nationalist Party introduced laws that denied the rights of black South Africans and contravened Article 3 of the UDHR. Two of the laws enforced during Apartheid violated Article 3 with respect to denying their right to live in freedom without racial discrimination and segregation from the white community. Apartheid laws introduced Acts like the 1950 Act No 30, Population Registration Act which required all South Africans to be racially classified into four racial groups; Bantu (South African natives), coloured (mixed race), white and Asian (immigrants from India). They also introduced the 1951 Bantu Authorities Act, which was a law that created black reserves called homelands. The homelands were independent states that all black people were relocated to which denied them their South African citizenship and voting rights. (www.mtholyoke.edu, South Africa and the Apartheid, Life During the Apartheid ) There were major consequences for the black South African population while living under these particular laws. • 11. Anne Bradstreet s Here Follows Some Follows Upon The... An elegy, a poem written in honor of a deceased. It mourns the death of an individual through looking at the bright side. It can release stress because of all the emotions that could not be held in anymore. This can be clearly portrayed in Anne Bradstreet s Here Follows Some Verses upon the Burning of Our House and Thomas Gray s Elegy Written in Country Churchyard. Both of the writers have feelings of depression. The writers bring up subtle comparisons between the poem and themselves. The arising themes remain constant through spirituality. In both of the stories, there is an identified preposition of melancholy, potential, and spirituality. To start off with the poem Here Follows Some Verses upon the Burning of Our House, Anne Bradstreet sets up the tone of sadness and says that she was awakened by a noise, a voice screaming fire and how heartbreaking it was to lose her home and possessions (Elegy 178). Bradstreet describes how her home looks after the incident. Her and her family have to start all over again. Bradstreet feels like everything has been taken away from her and will not be able to move on in line. She is having feelings of melancholy. Consequently, Bradstreet has an epiphany and says, Adieu, adieu, all s vanity (Elegy 179). This means that she is saying all her possessions are worthless. This is a turning point in Bradstreet s life that she was gifted with. She now sees how her ambition, potential, and hope can change her future life. She had been taking ... • 12. Crowd Psychology The question that I intend to study is: How do shy people react in a crowd? (do they become aggressive/ assertive as per mob psychology, or shrink as per their personality)? There are various theories regarding the mode of behavior in a crowd. Some, such as Freud, posit that people behavior changes in a crowd and they become more restless and less individualistic. Mob theory, in fact, is born form this which asserts that crowds are the source of volatile conduct where diverse people gang together for a particular cause. Minds merge and each person s enthusiasm becomes increased as a result. On the other hand, you have the Convergence theory that posits that the cause is born beforehand and that people join the crowd in order to put their cause into practice. The crowd, in other words, enables them to accomplish their objective and it makes them more enthusiastic and entrenched in their mission. Social psychologists leBon (1895) and Zimbardo (1969) see the crowd as an instigator of individuation. Stimuli such as mergence into a larger whole, the rush of the environment, the pressure of the crowd, the sensory overload and so forth blur mental input and causes a deindivdualistic individual to appear. One thing that is remarkable about all of these theories is that they tend to generalize assuming categorical behavior to all individuals and providing the aspect of crowd with anthropomorphic qualities. Indeed, Schweingruber and Wohlstein (PsyBlog.com) point out that crowd ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Therefore, copper production has been an important part of life for thousands or years and still is today. The copper cycle is an important because it provides a basis for how copper can be recovered from various compounds that it exists in during its so called life cycle . Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Reaction one was an exothermic reaction. This was determined simply because when nitric acid was mixed with the copper wire a significant amount of heat was given off to the surroundings, therefore the reaction had to be exothermic. Reaction two was exothermic as well. This was determined because precipitation reactions are always exothermic as the formation of a solid is a decrease in entropy so delta S is negative which means that enthalpy would be negative, therefore it is an exothermic reaction. Reaction three is an endothermic reaction. This was determined simply because a decomposition reaction is carried out through the addition of energy, usually heat to break down a compound, therefore the addition of heat to carry out to the reaction means it has to be endothermic. Reaction four was exothermic. This was determined because it was an acid base neutralization reaction. Acid base neutralization reactions are always exothermic as they release heat from the system to the surroundings. Reaction five was endothermic. This was determined because the reaction sped up when heated. The reduction of Copper Sulfate to Copper occurred at room temperate when Hydrochloric Acid and Aluminum were combined. Shakespeare and history both say that Duncan dies in 1040, but historical accounts say that Duncan dies in a battle near Elgin rather than in Macbeth s castle as Shakespeare describes (Encyclopaedia). Shakespeare tells that Macbeth s crowning takes place in 1040 at Scone: He is already named, and gone to Scone / To be invested (II, iv, 31 32). Macduff tells Ross that Macbeth is already going to Scone to get the crown so that he can become king (II, iv, 31 32). In His estimation, nothing that a united and ungodly people could imagine would be impossible to them. This is why He created language barriers among the people at Babel. Before, everyone spoke one language. However, they became too independently intelligent for their own good and turned against their Creator; their minds were clouded with pride at the thought of reaching the heavens with a mighty man made tower (Gen. 11). Knowing the importance of human imagination, Jesus often presented life changing insight from the Kingdom of Heaven in the form of similes. This made the Kingdom of Heaven easier to grasp. Litigators and law students denote this process as IRAC (Issue, Rule, Application, and Conclusion). Therefore, IRAC is simply the blueprint for analyzing a legal dispute. While legal dilemmas can become tedious, time consuming, overwhelming, and extremely complex, IRAC methodology can make the process somewhat easier. Hence, IRAC process forces the litigator to apply critical thinking (Metzler, 2003). Furthermore, Metzler states, the litigator must have a comprehensive understanding of the following: Issue What is the central question regarding the tort? Is this a civil or lawsuit? Rule What law(s) govern the issue at hand? The litigator must research many laws to determine which case or cases apply to a particular case. The litigator will also determine which rule(s) is better suited for the special case. Application How does the rule apply to the case? Understanding how the rule applies to the case may allow the litigator to predict the outcome of litigation. Conclusion Provides the answer to the issue statement. Natural selection is the outcome of inheritance, variance, and differential reproduction and can operate at many if not all levels of the taxonomic hierarchy (Bergstrom Dugatkin, 2012). If the level meets the requirements of natural selection, it may be acted upon. Natural selection can vary in the force of selection between each level in the hierarchy and depends highly on the amount of units within the level. The higher the taxonomic level the less units, less variation and multiplication that is found. The levels in which natural selection operates and the strength of its force will be discussed moving down the hierarchy of genes, cells, individuals, populations composed of closely related kin, and groups of distantly related ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Most diploid species maintain a one to one sex ratio because it is evolutionarily stable (Fisher, 1930). However, when population ratios do not fit the Fisherian sex ratio of one to one, selection will favor the gene/allele that is in limited supply until their frequency is greater or equal to the competing gene (Fisher, 1930). Therefore, selection works at the level of the gene in maintaining evolutionarily stable Fisherian sex ratios. Not only does natural selection operate at the level of the gene, it has also been found to operate at the level of the cell. Since different cell types within an individual have different rates of division, the morphology of organisms results from selection at the level of the cell (Lewontin, 1970). Natural selection is a strong force at the cellular level due to high levels of variation and therefore multiplication, and heredity which favors the cell lineages that are better adapted to leaving behind descendent cells (Smith, 1987). An example of natural selection operating at the level of the cell is shown by clonal selection theory of immunity where normal tissue repair and neoplastic growth are results of natural selection at the cellular level (Lewonith, 1970). Normal tissue repair occurs as a response to destruction of tissue, where certain cell types reproduce faster than normal in order to repair the tissue, then returns to a normal rate after repair (Lewonith, 1970). ... The Influence of Too Much Violence on Children In April 2008 at Taylor Elementary, a K 5 school in Hunting Park, a male child held a knife against the throat of a classmate and threatened to cut off his head if he snitched (Snyder 1). This student, like many other kindergarten students across the world, is extremely violent. This stems from the student s violent environment in which he is being raised. Hunting Park, located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, is a neighborhood filled with poverty and most importantly a high violent crime rate. Children who witness domestic and neighborhood violence become more violent themselves because they become less sensitive to violence, accept violence as normal behavior, and are also at risk for severe behavioral and psychological problems. When people, especially children, witness a recurring amount of violence over an extended period of time, they become less sensitive to violence. One of the largest sources, if not the largest source, for witnessing a recurring amount of violence is the media. America s economy has been a really fluid entity over the last few decades. Organizations have had to be flexible and have to adopt a mindset that change is critical to the success of their brand. The dot com period, housing boom and bust, Wars, recession and the shift in governmental powers have all made it imperative that organizations responds to changing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The word freedom derived from a Germanic culture. Freedom has a different meaning to different people; for example kids, adults and different races. Socially, politically, and religiously the word freedom fits into different categories with different meanings depending on who thinks about the word. Freedom has a wide range of definitions that should be specifically stated in one that addresses the public in one way so everyone knows the same definition and does not cause confusion. When it comes to politics, people become very serious. Kids do not have much of a say in politics when they are younger than 18, but once they turn 18, they can vote to elect someone to run office. The problem with this is most young teens today do not know what is actually being said in office. Teens think it would be funny or cool to vote for someone when the whole world could crash. The word freedom effects teens in this way because they think oh, I have the right to be free and have free speech which is true but that statement can not be taken lightly. Most young teens do not have a clue about politics and vote anyways causing the voting pole to increase towards one person running in office and it could be where that person is not favorited by the older generation. Adults on the other hand are from an older generation who has deeper knowledge of politics. The word freedom for adults politically could mean that they can vote for who they want to because they are free to do so. Having two generations of people and different races politically can cause problems with the freedom to vote. Also, African Americans have a different view on freedom politically. African Americans can have very much the same view of an adult as well as having their own independent view. In this case politically the word freedom means anyone can have the right to vote and have free speech. Religious beliefs can often affect the word freedom as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 40. Essay On Native American Healing Native American views on medicine and healing are largely based on the idea that all living things are interconnected and that the mind, body, and spirit of humans are not to be treated separately. In essence, spirituality is at the core of the human and must be treated along with any physical ailments that may arise. Traditional views are based on cultural practices, rituals, and myths from their own beliefs and customs within the culture. In contrast, Western medicine is highly mechanistic, focusing on the scientific model to heal and cure diseases in the physical body. These highly differing views on healing can result in humiliation, disrespect, and embarrassment to Native American people while in a healthcare environment. Therefore, it is important for medical professionals that work with the Native American community to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Despite the fact that spirituality has been a long time key component of healing throughout history, modern medicine refrains from it instead choosing to embrace a more mechanistic view of the body whereas, in contrast, Native American healing practices embrace spirituality. In fact indigenous practices consider the spirit an inseparable element of healing, placing importance on the spirit of the patient, healer, patient s family, community, environment, and even the medicine itself. More specifically, the healing must take in account the dynamics between all of these spiritual forces as a part of the universal spirit. In contrast to Western medical view s that focus on fixing unique body parts in distinct individuals that are separate from each other and their environment, Native Americans believe that we are all part of a whole that is greater than the sum of parts, and therefore, healing must be considered within this context (Johnston 131). There are some politicians such as former presidential candidate Mitt Romney who believe states and the private sector should actually have the sole responsibility of managing emergencies in response to to natural disasters in their jurisdiction (Duffy, 2012). But one has to question; do states have the resources to manage their own natural disasters? Hurricane Katrina shows us individual states do not have the resources necessary to recover from large disasters. Political connections or knowledge of elected officials in state and local government have a direct impact on the amount of resources received or if it is even received. Garrett and Sobel give an example where a governor submits a request to the president for disaster assistance. The Holocaust occurred between 1939 and 1945 in Germany (history.com). It was a period of time during WWII where the jewish population were forced to follow and obey the Nazi s which meant being sent to concentration camps and later extermination camps in order to achieve racial purity . This was called the Final Solution . Countless of Jews resisted during this time hoping to stop the cruelty and torture. During the Holocaust, Jews used armed and unarmed forms of resistance in order to retain their humanity. Armed resistance was a way for the Jewish people to stand up for themselves. An example of this type of resistance, is when the Jews attacked the Germans with homemade and smuggled weapons. I can say for sure that plays are always different and this play was completely different from the one we watched a couple weeks ago Rent . This play is serious in its content , it is a specific historical play, which took place in Germany, more exactly Berlin, in the 1930s. The story is about five good friends during the time of the rise of Adolf Hitler and the Nazi party, the time before World War II. The story surrounded the main character Agnes, who just loves her home and lives on her own and she thinks that everything will be alright as long as she stays away from negative influences. Representational and presentational acting can be seen in this play and helps us understand the character more. The characters acting I want to focus on is Vealtinc Husz, the lover of Agnes played by Chase Byrd. He is a one eyed Hungarian director of movies, who moved to Berlin to became a part of the communist revolution party and ended up meeting the love of his life, Agnes. The main idea of his work, what he was interested in, was to promote propaganda art and also to develop some promotional ideas and changes in the communist community. Husz s problem (and maybe not the best side of his character)is that he talks more rather taking action. One type of acting shown by the character of Husz is representational. This type of acting is playing from the inside. Husz is a person who doesn t know a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 50. Allusions In Beowulf Many critics have argued whether or not Beowulf is a Christian epic, but I believe that the answer is fairly clear. Although the characters in the poem are pagan, it is believed that the poet may have been a Christian monk, which alone hints that it may be a Christian poem. In my opinion, Beowulf is a Christian epic because of key Biblical references, the sorrow that the poet expresses for the characters, and the praise the poet gives to his God. There are numerous references to the Bible in the poem, but I believe that the most important one is the one that compare Grendel to Cain from the story of Cain and Abel. When Grendel is first introduced the author writes, Grendel... among the banished monsters, Cain s clan, whom the Creator had outlawed and condemned as outcasts (Beowulf 102 7). Some may argue that the fact that the author references the Bible can alone prove that it is a Christian epic, but I think that there is more to it. At the time the poem is set, killing your brother is considered extremely evil, which is why the author condemned Unferth at the beginning. Therefore, Cain essentially represents evil as he killed his brother ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This helps prove that this is a Christian epic, as a man who does not believe in a Christian god would be very unlikely to feel bad for someone who did not believe in one either. Obviously, the author has some sort of bias toward their religion, and assuming that religion is Christianity, that proves that the epic is Christian, and was written by a Christian ...
