Generation Gap In Into The Wild
The Generation Gap
Picture this: you are twenty two years old. You just graduated from college and you are about to start
your first real job. You need money desperately to pay off your mountainous pile of student debt but
more importantly, your phone just broke this morning when you were ordering your daily low fat, non
dairy mocha macchiato and you need to buy the new iPhone. You haven t been able to check Twitter
in over three hours and the anxiety of not knowing what new offensive tweet from your newest
president, Donald Trump, says is eating you alive. You call your parents for help because maybe, just
maybe, they will help you out with money this one last time and of course they do... This is the typical
life of over seventy five million ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, parents who grew up in the south and learned racism disowned their daughter because
she was dating a black boy. This is an extreme case in how racism among generations can ruin a
family, but sadly, this is something that happens all the time. Another example of differing viewpoints
by generation in a family can be seen in Into the Wild by Jon Krakauer when Chris McCandless
strongly disagrees about what the meaning of life is; his father believes it s all about the material
goods and having money but Chris believes that it s about finding peace with yourself without the
outside influence of media or society. A more specific example of this is when Chris father offered to
buy Chris a new car but he did not want it because he already had a car that worked perfectly fine
(Krakauer 20). Millennials are more open to equality and diversity.60% of millennials say that
interracial marriage is a change for the better while only 29% of baby boomers say that it is a good
thing. Perhaps this could be because of the creation of social media. By being connected to whoever
you want whenever you want, you are able to share ideas and information instantaneously. This is a
great way to spread culture and beliefs. By exposing themselves to and becoming familiar with the
culture of other people, you become more accepting and comfortable with that group of people that
may be foreign to

Microscale Synthesis of Acetylsalicylic Acid
Synthesis of Aspirin
Ling Tecson Gamido, Mitchiko Mariel M. Mizukami
Abstract
Acetylsalicylic acid, or also known as aspirin is known to be a drug that relives people of pain and is
commonly used even today. It is synthesized from salicylic acid and ethanoic anhydride, both of small
quantities. Phosphoric acid was used as a catalyst in the synthesis to speed up the process.
Esterification is involved and the final product is aspirin with the presence of acetic acid as the
byproduct. In order to create the powder form of aspirin, the process of crystallization was conducted
and was run through vacuum filtration. After running through the help of an electronic instrument, the
result that was achieved in this experiment was met due to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net
...
With the presence of carboxylic acid (which is active in the reaction of the synthesis) in the results
done by an electronic instrument, it shows that the reaction went through the right direction.
The proper techniques needed in the synthesis of aspirin and the physical properties of aspirin are
determined and applied. The synthesis of aspirin by analysis of its melting point, IR and mass
spectrum are confirmed.
Recommendations
A recommendation would be a more accurate and safer way of transporting the reactants inside a test
tube. A small amount of salicylic acid was remaining on the walls of the test tube. Due to this, an
increased amount of acetic anhydride was used for the experiment. This could have affected the yield
of the final product. Through the vacuum filtration, some of the reaction mixtures were not able to
properly go through the filtration since it was not able to properly go through the filter.

How Dianne Changed My Life
Dianne is an inspirational woman who has changed the lives of many of her family members and
friends. Though Dianne has gone through some tough times herself, she still keeps going and has lived
an incredibly interesting life. This is the story of Dianne Oliphant Birch, my mother and my best
friend. It was a warm, sunny afternoon on December 25th, 1974 when Marion Christina Manson
Oliphant and Raymond Stanley Oliphant brought a beautiful baby girl, Dianne, into the world. It was
an amazing day for her mom, dad, sister, and brother who were visiting the Marymount Maternity
Hospital in Johannesburg, South Africa. Dianne grew up in Malvern, Johannesburg, South Africa with

Dianne finished high school with good grades in English, Afrikaans, Typing, Accountancy, Business
Economics and Home Economics as her subjects. Straight out of high school at age 18, Dianne got her
first job and her driver s license. She moved in with Andrew at his parent s house, to get away from
her parents and be with people she loved. Her first job was as a receptionist at a printing company in
Kew, Johannesburg. The owner of the printing company knew her dad, Raymond, who worked at a
partnering printing company. Dianne learned a lot about the printing industry and is amazed at how
much it has changed over the years. In April 1995, Dianne, Andrew and six of their very dear friends
went on the most unforgettable vacation ever. They all chartered a house boat on Lake Kariba,
Zimbabwe. It was a weeklong vacation that she talks about all the time. She got to see elephants and
hippos up close and swam in crocodile infested waters. On the way home they stopped at the very
famous Victoria Falls and three of the guys bungee jumped 70 meters (230 feet) over the Zambezi

The Tort And The Civil Wrong
The term tort refers to a civil wrong. The phase tort is Norman French and means wrong. In Anglo
Saxon times tort was established with punishments, for example individuals from clans had to pay for
the civil wrong they executed. During the Norman Conquest there was no contrast between civil
wrongs or general crimes carried out. After the Norman Conquest kings and courts were very
influential and punishments would be decided by them. If any fines of punishment were held the
money would go to the king or the relevant court. After this period any civil wrong that was executed
was either known as a trespass or a tort. Felonies were known as major acts against the law. Writs
were legal written orders and by the thirteenth century became essential for the guidelines of
retribution. There are many elements within tort; the main aspect is what act and what damage has
been committed and not the reason why an individual committed an act. The theory of tort has
developed and evolved during the years. The law today ensures victims of tort with remedies. Tort can
be dealt with in civil courts, county courts or High courts. It depends mainly on the level of
seriousness of a case.
Within tort there is the area of negligence which has many different elements. It can analyse the state
of mind of an individual committing a crime aswell as the harm caused which could include harm
done unintentionally. The approach of tort negligence is related to an individual being harmed through
an act of

Spatiotemporal Continuity In The Case Of The Prince And...
Leibniz, Spatiotemporal Continuity and the Case of the Prince and the Cobbler
Leibniz uses the concept of spatiotemporal continuity to argue that if a person is the same, they will be
numerically identical, and have the same body as before. It is the only way to count people as people,
because people can change their minds, but not their bodies, as it is impossible to track the direction of
a person s mind. In the example of the Prince and the Cobbler, the Prince and the Cobbler switch
bodies, but that does not mean that the Prince is any less worthy of being a Prince, and the Cobbler is
still a Cobbler by the definition of spatiotemporal continuity.

No Country For Black Boys By Joy Priest
Where is my country?
The poem No Country for Black Boys by Joy Priest represents the sorrowful incident which happened
on February 26, 2012 for Trayvon Martin in Florida. Trayvon Martin was an innocent African
American young boy who bought iced tea and some skittles. On the way back to his father s home, he
got shot by the neighborhood watch and treated as a victim because of his skin color. Guilt was not
defined by what Martin did but by what he said, also it determined something deep rooted in the
young age. No weapon was needed to identify him as a victim. He is a young black boy, so he is
already guilty enough to be killed. Black people have the same rights as the other people, however in
reality, America s society discriminates against them compared to other nationalities.
People feel unsafe when they see African American young boys. President Obama said There
are very few African American men in this country who haven t had the experience of being followed
when they were shopping in a department store. That includes me. African American kids prepare
themselves from childhood to prove their honesty to the other nations around. They learned to hide
from the cops even before they learned how to read a book. Young black men are considered as wild
black animals when they become adults. They behave toward a person who makes trouble before they

Underwater National Parks Research Paper
Underwater National Parks Underwater national parks were created in order to preserve the sea life
seeing as how we haven t explored ninety five percent of our oceans. Their focus is isolating an area
and maintaining the wildlife within it. Everything from coral to stingrays and plankton that inhabit the
parks. While the animals are taken care of, the national park ensures protection for the history that lies
within its waters. Underwater national parks are crucial because of the marine life that inhabits it and
the history and culture that the parks preserve. According to Oceans for youth, 1972 was the year in
which legislation opted to create the first underwater national park. It was named Title III of the
Marine Protection, Research, and Sanctuaries of 1972. National parks, which were created to conserve
natural, historical, and cultural values, lacked funding and support. President Obama s expansion of

Films Dealing With The Vietnam War
Film, as an art form and furthermore, as a cultural product, is a proficient and effective producer of
cultural memory in society. It is a primarily a visual medium, and it is this facet that predicates its
innate ability to represent, alter and, therefore arguably subvert memory. Moreover, as Sturken states
...cinematic representations of the past have the capacity to entangle with personal and cultural
memory. 1 In the case of films dealing with the Vietnam War, this capacity proves central to the
creation of cultural memory regarding the event. The films diegesis, its represented reality, which is
constituted of sound and images, engages in a process of interaction with established historical
narratives and discourses, as well as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In this complex process certain events and information will invariably be ignored (i.e. forgotten)
emphasising that the creation of memory relies both on constructive recollection and active forgetting.
It is these intricate and reciprocal relationships between accepted historical discourses, cultural
memory and cultural products that have informed my choice of films. Platoon (1986) and Born on the
Fourth of July (1989) possess many ostensible similarities as well as distinct differences. Furthermore,
and significantly, both films are based somewhat on personal memories, therefore providing valuable
if divergent insights into the processes behind the creation of cultural memory, the mediation of
historical discourses and the re shaping of personal experience. The director and writer of both films is
Oliver Stone (though he co wrote the screenplay to Born on the Fourth of July in collaboration with
Vietnam veteran Ron Kovic), an individual whose life has been profoundly affected by the Vietnam
War. Not dissimilar to the character of Chris Taylor, Stone dropped out of Yale University and
voluntarily enrolled for service. Stone s Vietnam films benefit from his personal experience and
memories of the event, providing a dimension of gravitas, an authenticity that is visceral and affecting.
These distinctive facets of his work contribute to the creation of cultural memory, as his films
effectively mediate personal and collective memory into the complex forum

Rainfall Due to Hurricanes in the Northern Hemisphere...
Hurricane Irene affected the Caribbean and much of the United States east coast and was one of the
most damaging tropical cyclones of the 2011 Atlantic tropical cyclone season. Irene originated east of
the Lesser Antilles from a well defined Atlantic tropical wave in that area, and became Tropical Storm
Irene on August 20, 2011. Irene reached its highest point as a 120 mph Category 3 hurricane. Irene
was ranked the seventh costliest hurricane with damages that cost around $15.6 billion in the United
States. Irene produced record breaking rainfall across the mid Atlantic and northeastern United States.

The study that was analyzed utilizes a Geographic Information System (GIS) to characterize the
spatial patterns of rainfall produced by Irene and to classify other tropical cyclones that took the same
track as Irene over the United States. A GIS is a system that is designed to capture, store, maneuver,
examine, manage, and present all types of geographical data. In order to use the GIS they first had to
identify analog tropical cyclones that took a path similar to Irene over the United States which they
obtained from HURDAT. HURDAT, or the North Atlantic hurricane database, is the system that keeps
all the records for all tropical cyclones in the Atlantic Ocean, Gulf of Mexico, and the Caribbean Sea,
since 1851. Once similar tropical storms were obtained, then the latitude and longitude coordinates
from the six hourly positions of Irene were entered into the GIS and the points were then transformed
into a line feature. This line feature represents Irene s track and it was buffered by 200 kilometers to
allow for the tropical cyclones to be analyzed in this study region. The tropical cyclones that were
similar to Irene were then imported into the GIS. Once the buffer was applied there were twenty five
tropical cyclones with tracks similar to that of Irene. But the track of the hurricanes wasn t the only
thing being studied here, we still have to take

A Brief Note On The Association Of Chartered Accountants
Nowadays, accountancy sector seems to be more and more attractive to students as accountant is
considered as the best job in the world according to a survey of LV Company (2013). Therefore, in
that competitive position, with most students who are majoring in this area, achieving a qualification
from a particular professional body is generally considers as their first aim to the colossal success of
career in accountancy. By being qualified, students might be recognised and obtained more global
opportunities in business career in such a competitive accounting industry. ACCA and CIMA are two
standout accounting bodies which award people those qualifications. ACCA and CIMA have their own
policies and operation systems. This essay will ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
CIMA is having 218000 members and students in 177 countries (CIMA, 2014).
In percentage data, ACCA is nearly double CIMA about worldwide members as ACCA is holding
40% worldwide members while CIMA has only 23% (ACCA Brochure, 2014). However, if the degree
of growth of total students and members recently is taken in to consideration, CIMA has the largest
growth in POB members including ACCA (CIMA, 2014).
Firstly, candidates of both ACCA and CIMA have to get through strict examination systems before
being recognized by these two institutes qualifications.
ACCA has 400 exam centres around the world and their exams are taken place twice annually in June
and December (ACCA Global, 2014). There are two levels in ACCA assessing scheme and they are
fundamental level and professional level (ACCA brochure, 2014). Applicants have to complete all
three exams of knowledge and six exams of skills in fundamental level in order to move into
professional level which includes three exams of essential and two in four optional exams (ACCA,
2014a).
CIMA examination system is completely different from ACCA. CIMA Global (2014a) has showed
that their new syllabus for 2015 would have covered several new topics such as sustainability,
integrated reporting and so on for three levels of the process which are operational level, management
level and strategic level.

Comparing The Israelites And The Puritans
The Puritans believe they are morally superior to everyone else. The Puritans are about to leave
England. They are Israelites is what they are. They are fleeing Egypt. Good Riddance! Next stop, land
of milk/honey(4). Vowell uses a simile to compare the Puritans to the Israelites in order to reveal how
the Puritans consider themselves. The Old Testament Israelites, references specifically the Israelites
that escaped from Egypt in the Book of Exodus. After the population of Jews in Egypt had become so
numerous the Pharaoh feared what they might be able to do and put them into slavery. The Israelites
eventually escaped Egypt by crossing the Red Sea and eventually make it to land God had gifted
them, the land of Canaan. The Puritans compare to the Israelites because they too felt some religious
persecution. Catholic rulers like Mary I persecuted Protestants and had many executed. The Puritans
also flee from a land not as pure as themselves in order to start anew. Cotton himself tells the Puritans
that they are God s chosen, and America is their Canaan. The Israelites inspire the Puritans to get
away. The Old Testament Israelites are to the Puritans what the blues was to the Rolling Stones a
source of inspiration, a renewable resource of riffs(2). Vowell uses an analogy to compare two unlike
things like Puritans and the Rolling Stones. The blues is a genre of music originating in the Deep
South of the United States around the end of the 19th century. The emotion

Roxy Paine, Conjoined Essay
The piece of art that I have chosen is Roxy Paine s Conjoined created in 2007. This is a
representational piece depicting a pair of trees taken from nature and joined by their branches. The
trees themselves are cylindrical, smooth and shiny from all angles. They reflect light from all sides
creating a mirror like appearance.
The branches initially flow upward but then gradually flow into the middle where they are conjoined.
They are located in Madison Square Park where they seem to blend in with the rest of the trees but
they definitely manage to stand out. Because they serve no function other than visual I consider this
sculpture to be fine art.
Roxy Paine welds cylindrical stainless steel pipes and rods to form and shape these two ... Show more

Stainless steel is more expensive than standard steel. Paine has studied and observed they way trees
grow and this has allowed him to form his own artistic rendition.
Paine uses the visual element of Direction and Movement to make the trees appear like they are
growing into each other or being pulled apart. The branches are tapering at the tips and flowing to the
side almost like a windstorm is blowing them over. Looking at the trees you get a real sense of
struggle between forces. They look like they are pulling apart but at the same time trying to overtake
one another.
He also uses the visual element of Shape and Mass. The trees are 3D representation of actual trees.
They are over 40 foot tall and very heavy; therefore they consume a large amount of volume and
mass. The trees appear to be constructed from geometric shapes but also try to follow the form of
nature in a more organic way.
Since the two trees are a sculpture they are naturally 3D but their reflection caused by light shining on
the stainless steel reminds us of their intricate details. The trees have a very strong gray
monochromatic earth tone caused by the steel.
A Principle of Design that Paine emphasizes is Unity. The trees are conjoined, rendering them as one,
as a whole, they are in unison. The trees appear to be to scale when compared to the other trees in the
park. They are not too small nor do the feel out of place. There is a strong emphasis near the middle of

Why Did Barbarians Convert To Christianity Research Paper
Why did the barbarians convert to Christianity?
The barbaric people of the medieval period went through a change due to their Christianisation but
how did this come about? The barbaric people spread through the Roman Empire, after its collapse
they moved through the empire taking their pagan beliefs with them. From the impact of every day
necessities such as language and culture to the impact of leaders and kings I will look at pin pointing
the causes of the Christianisation of Germanic people and why they were convinced by this new faith.
First it must be noted that throughout this essay I will be using barbarian and Germanic
interchangeably to describe the people in question.
Christian culture becoming more accessible in the day to day life of barbarians influenced their
conversion to Christianity. Pagan groups in conquered Christian, or post Roman, territories were
surrounded by influence from Christian people. The majority of the population became servants to the
barbarians, these servants kept their traditions and culture and ... Show more content on

Christianity at this time was closely linked with cultural connections. If a group of Christians declared
that their success in battle or harvest was due to the intervention of their God, Then pagans, in times of
misfortune, may be more susceptible to praying to the Christian God due to their desperateness. The
barbaric ages are known for the regressive changes on society from the prosperous Roman Empire to
what came to be known as the Dark Ages. The Roman Empire was famously a Christianised place, the
legacy of its sophisticated architecture, politics and even literacy were all superior to that of the
barbarians. Such consumer orientated society was often linked to their faith, suggesting if the
barbarians Christianised then they too could live lavish

At this moment, the financial sector still attracts a lot of controversy both at the regulator and the
banker level. The regulators have been discussing on tighter banking rules. At the same time, the
banks have also been strengthening their own health with stricter supervision, one of which is to

Moreover, the State Bank of Vietnam‟s regulations, the bank‟s internal policies and annual reports as
well as the transaction office‟s business results also provide significant findings for the research. The
analysis of both primary and secondary data shows that this bank has been trying to adopt a close to
standard credit risk management framework with numerous published documents governing the day to
day credit activities. Some good points are a complete lending procedure or a standard internal credit
rating system SYMBOLS. However when it comes to actual operation, some aspects should be
considered, e.g. the staff training quality or the priority treatment to high value customers. Especially,
the high non performing loans at the transaction office and the non complied loss provision must be
reviewed and adjusted. These discoveries have led to several constructive improvement suggestions
for the case bank. Besides, recommendations for new research directions have also been made. Key

There are many different kinds of technologies that are available for the world to use today. We have
the convenience of all different types data input and output devices and the means to store and make

different kinds situations and projects everyday. We also use many different types of output devices to
view our finished product. The input devices that we use are keyboards, scanners, a mouse, and a few
others in there as well. We use output devices to see our finished result or our desired outcome just as

David Wong teaches us how to stand back up after getting punched in the face with failure. In his

The girl ends up falling for the jerk, leaving the nice guy upset and distraught. Instead of having
sympathy for the nice guy, Wong takes a different approach. In fact, he says, Don t complain about
how girls fall for jerks; they fall for those jerks because those jerks have other things they can offer.
The moral of the story is that we are what we produce. In the cause of the nice guy, all that he
produced was that, he was in fact, a nice guy. There are thousands of nice guys in the world. People
want something different. Rejection is inevitable during the process of success. Every source I have

As it explains Women were pushed to the sidelines as dependents of men, without the power to bring
suit, make contracts, own property, or vote. During the era of the CULT OF DOMESTICITY, a
woman was seen merely as a way of enhancing the social status of her husband. this is why they found
it important to raise their voices for the women s rights movement. (Women s rights, USHistory.org,
Independence Hall Association, October 25 2017) In order to start fighting for women s rights
activists began to question women s service to men and called for rallying around the abolitionist
movement as a way of calling attention to all human rights. Around 1840 the abolitionist movement
was split over the acceptance of female speakers and officers. It was declared in the Seneca Falls

The Usefulness Of Traditional Costing System
In the past decades, the world has witnessed major changes in the business environment; influenced
by mainly the technological and economic factors. We have also experienced a flux in the service
industries compared to manufacturing firms. In a sum business has become more global, dynamic and
competitive. This transition, requires management to be more innovative, alert and responsive to the
changes so that they can beat their competitors. Subsequently, value added activities and cost
reduction has become more important in his contemporary world of business. As such, management
accountants have to re think about their costing methods to ensure that the product cost is rightly
allocated, in view that the product cost has a clear aftermath on the pricing decision of a product
which also affect profitability. Product costing is a crucial subject especially if the business is
considering the application of the cost leadership strategy developed by Michael Porter, (1980), as a
tool to gain a competitive edge over its rivals. In this essay, we will assess the usefulness of traditional
costing system to managers and evaluate why it is no longer satisfying the needs of managers. The
activity based costing system will also be proposed as an alternative approach or paradigm to the
former system.
Traditional costing system was introduced decades ago to meet the demand of management
accounting in the manufacturing firms. This was vital to facilitate the allocation of overhead costs

Compare Beccaria and Lombroso Essay
Compare 2 Key Thinkers and Their Competing Ideologies.
Criminology is a study of crime, criminals and criminal justice. Ideas about criminal justice and crime
arose in the 18th century during the enlightenment, but criminology as we know it today developed in
the late 19th century. Criminology has been shaped by many different academic disciplines and has
many different approaches. It explores the implications of criminal laws; how they emerge and work,
then how they are violated and what happens to those violators. Laws are relative and historically
shaped; they vary from time to time and from place to place (Carrabine et al, 2009).
This essay will be comparing the competing ideologies of two key thinkers in criminology; Cesare ...

It is better to try and prevent crimes than it is to punish them, this is achieved by good legislation
which guides men to their greatest, or least unhappiness possible (Beccaria, 1767). As mentioned
previously, Beccaria s utilitarian ideology has shaped the justice system in western societies for many
decades. Therefore, Beccaria can be described as a very influential thinker. Without his contribution
we could still have a system of capital punishment, and that is a worrying thought. However, we now
seem fixed with utilitarian justice. It may be argued that it is now time to move towards restorative
justice. There are also those such as Tullock (1974), who argue for a return to harsher sentencing.
Some states in the US still consider the death penalty to be a legitimate punishment. So it can be said
that Beccaria is undoubtedly a key thinker in criminology, but as with all key thinkers he is not
without his critics.
Cesare Lombroso was also Italian but came from a Jewish family and is very different to Beccaria. He
trained as a medical doctor and graduated in 1858. He was a leading contributor in the development of
a positivist criminology which collected and looked into scientific measurements for the explanation
of criminal behaviour and crime (Hayward et al, 2010). Nearly all biological theories stem from
Lombroso and his book The Criminal man published in 1876, although Lombroso enlarged upon and
updated this original publication through five editions

Essay about Major Depression Disorder
Major Depression Disorder Evidence shows that Major Depression Disorder has been around four
thousands of years. In the fourth century BC, Hippocrates referred to a group of symptoms including
loss of appetite, insomnia, flat affect, and irritability as melancholia (Jackson). Taking accountability
of melancholia appeared in ancient Mesopotamian texts in the second millennium B.C. At this time,
any mental illness had something to do with the demons. It had to be checked by the priests. The first
time that there was an understanding of depression it was truly considered more of a spiritual illness
caused by demons rather than a physical illness. Ancient Greeks and Romans put taught about the

Depression has become a global issue. In accordance to Medscape Log in MDD is the second leading
cause of disability worldwide and a major contributor to the burden of suicide (Brooks). It ranks lower
in low income countries but higher in the medium and high income countries. Depression itself has
become ranked higher above other diseases.
In the Christian Bible, King David penned psalm after psalm filled with sadness and despair. Psalm 6:
3: reads, My soul is in deep anguish , and Psalm 6:6 7: All night long I flood my bed with weeping
and drench my couch with tears. My eyes grow weak with sorrow . Anyone can have depression from
authors to movie stars, from professors to students. To actually have considered having depression one
has to have a complete understanding of depression. Having MDD, comes with having at least five of
the symptoms every day during the period of 2 weeks. Most importantly it must show a change in the
individual. Over that the symptoms have to cause distress in work, social, or other areas. If the person
has another mental disorder, or medical condition the symptoms should not be due to them. One
symptom that stands out is a depressed mood. The person will feel sad, disappointed, and careless.
Many will complain in the stage that they are in. Some can t describe the feeling that they have. They

Immune Mediate Thrombocytopenia and an Adjunctive or Alternative Immunosuppressant Option.
As you know, treating Immune mediate thrombocytopenia (IMTP) can have its challenges. Every case
is different and thus the approach should be individualized and tailored according to the clinical
presentation and severity of disease. Although IMTP is a serious disease, overall survival rate is as
high as 84% with relapse rate of 9%. Primary treatment of IMTP involves administration of
corticosteroids, but this may not apply to all cases of canine IMTP. For example, is your patient on a
medication or have a concurrent disease in which corticosteroids are contraindicated? One of the
alternative immunosuppressant medications used to treat canine IMTP is a drug called mycophenolate

Black And Latino By Roberto Santiago
Multiracial children are becoming more common in today s society, many years ago multiracial
children were judged for having more than one culture and feeling excluded out from others. Times
have changed and according to a recent study from Pew Research Center, about 60% of mixed adults
are proud of their different cultures. This statistic perfectly fits the author Roberto Santiago who wrote
Black and Latino . On the other hand around 55% feel subjected by racial slurs from non mixed
people. Author Jade Snow Wong who wrote Fifth Chinese Daughter never dealt with racism towards
herself but her father was racist about Americans and she expresses one culture more than the other.
While Santiago accepts both of his cultures and Wong mainly accepts one, they each still faced racism
in different ways. Accepting both cultures can be good for a person and a lot easier when dealing with
people who simply do not understand multiculturalism. Santiago never felt like he had to choose a
race and stick to it, he always felt like he was Black and Latino and that is because he is. In his essay
Black and Latino he writes about growing up with two cultures and having other people not accept
him fully. He thought he was perfectly fine but others expected him to pick a side because he did not
fit the standards of being Black or Latino . I am both and always have been. (par.1) He does not prefer

Theories Of Clinical Depression
Globally, around 350 million people suffer from clinical depression. However, its causes remain
largely unknown. There are many theories that attempt to explain the cause of depression, but none of
them fully explain the disorder. In this essay I will explain the assumptions made in the psychoanalytic
and biological theories around depression.
The field of psychoanalysis, founded by Sigmund Freud, views mental conditions and disturbances
depression included as coming from often forgotten childhood experiences rooted into one s
subconscious. One of Freud s early psychoanalytic theories regarding depression was the child turning
guilt ridden anger on the self, meaning that a child s dissatisfaction with their parental relationships
would clash with their desire to impress their parents, causing them to internalise their bitter and
dissatisfied emotions. This internalisation would lead to self destructive behaviours and depressive
symptoms later in life. Several similar theories have been raised ... Show more content on

Events such as the death of a loved one, financial instability, or general emotional distress all
statistically increase one s likelihood of developing depression, and both of the theories that I have
discussed fail to account for the influence that these current events may have on an individual s mental
health. The psychoanalytical approach focuses only on early childhood, while the biological approach
does not take any life events at all into account. Psychoanalysis assumes that depression is rooted in
early childhood with little evidence to support this assumption. The biological approach, while still
erasing the effect that life events can have on depression, provides much more valid scientific
evidence to strengthen its theories. Because of this, I believe the biological approach to be a more

A Summary Of The Cherokee Tribe
History of Traditions Overdriving Biological Patterns
The Cherokee Tribe is among the more popularly known Native American tribes in the United States.
They are mainly remembered for their fight against the U.S. government and the Supreme Court and
their forced migration in the Trail of Tears. However, as mentioned by North Carolina Digital History
and Robert Conley, because of their written language, many of their traditions and history is well
known and taught in schools as an example of Native American culture (10.2 and 105). Michael D.
Green and Theda Perdure introduce Cherokee history in the book, The Cherokee Removal: A Brief
History with Documents. The tribe originally inhabited southeast North America in what is currently
Kentucky, Tennessee, South Carolina, and into northern Georgia and Alabama 1). From 1836 to 1839
the Cherokee Tribe was forcibly and harshly removed and relocated in Oklahoma in what is known as
The Trail of Tears (Green 160) Throughout all the changes the Cherokee had to undergo as they lost
their traditional land and home, they were able to keep their traditions, rituals, and ceremonies and
some, such as the dance and medicine use, are still practiced today. Traditions and rituals are repeated
over and over, year after year. For an event to have this much significance in a society it must have
been important from the time it began. As Miller Williams, a poet from 1930 2015, said, Ritual is
important to us as human beings. It ties us to our

How Do Heroes Contribute To Society
Many people have been to a Feed my Starving Children, or a place like it. Even those who haven t are
heroes. Everyone has done something heroic in their life. From returning a dropped wallet, to

there are many things that heroes bring to society three of them are giving hope during difficult times

an immeasurable amount of help to society.
One thing that heroes bring to society, is giving hope during difficult times or events. First of all, there
are many groups that provide help during natural disasters. For example, Red Cross provides blood

To start, heroes will save others even if it means possibly injuring themselves. For example, everyday
thousands for firefighters risk their lives saving others. They know that becoming a firefighter meant

support the needs of others. For example, Bill and Melinda Gates created a foundation with their own
money which has donated billions of dollars globally to support people and other organizations. Bill
and Melinda have pledged to give away the majority of their money and keep doing that out of
generosity. Lastly, heroes will sacrifice time and effort in the service of others. For example, anyone
who has volunteered at a food donation service like Feed My Starving Children. It takes both time and
effort to volunteer at a place like this, which is heroic. In conclusion, sacrifice for the sake of others is

The discussion for my assigned reading went better than I expected. This book was a bit of a challenge

a challenge for me, therefor it made me want to understand it more. I think that the discussion went
well, many students shared their opinion, and for the most part, the subjects of the discussion
intermingled. It was good to hear that many students shared some of the same thoughts. I think that
this made the discussion interesting because they felt comfortable sharing their opinion and thoughts
about the book. I really enjoyed leading discussion because I was forced to share my opinion and
listen carefully to others in order to agree or disagree with what they said. Kevin and I met twice to
talk about what we wanted to do for our presentation. We divided up the reading between us so that
we could focus more in depth with the reading. I took ever the first half of the book and Kevin took
over the second half. I would of like for Kevin to have spoken out more and be more active in the

Extraction Of Caffeine From Tea
EXTRACTION OF CAFFEINE FROM TEA
Abstract
The method used to separate the organic compound from a mixture of compound is the extraction. It is
done by the dissolving of one or more compounds in a good solvent. The solvent which was used in
this experiment was 15 ml of dichloromethane into 125ml of water. Caffeine was extracted from 9.19
g of TAZO Awake English Breakfast. Caffeine is soluble in water in 2.2 g/ml at 20 C; it is more
soluble than dichloromethane which has 10.2g/ml at 20 C, and the method used for the extraction was
the liquid liquid extraction method, followed by evaporation. The objective of going through all these
steps was to be able to obtain caffeine from tea and to see how pure or how the caffeine was not pure
in comparing the standard values of Melt Point and RF values of the result of the experiment.
Introduction
It is well known that tea is one of the greatest frequently used caffeinated drinks in the world. The
caffeine (C8H10N4O2) which was extracted from the tea was harsh and white. Caffeine is known as
being a great stimulant which is mostly used by the majority of people, and caffeine has a power in
people s organism. It creates many different kinds of problems, such respiratory problems, heart rate
problems, anxiety and insomnia problems. On the other hand, caffeine has some good effects for
people, such as improving alertness, learning capacity and exercise performance (NCBI, 2013). Tea

fig1. By going through the force diagram2 of the system below, the number of components those are

i. Stub axle: stub axle whose main function is to be a hostage of the wheel may be deformed due to
high fatigue stress induced due to the repetitive compressive load on upper edge and tensile on lower
edge as many times as the wheel experiences high impact load in upward direction. And the result is
the difficulty while cornering. Even though the probability of failure of stub axle is higher due to
impact failure of weld joints. Which may cause the serious safety effect.
ii. Hose and Bearing subassembly: As its main function is to reduce the friction, and providing bearing
support, its conceivable failure is detected by testing during maintenance. the probability of failure is
either wearing off the rolling element, or misalignment of bearing which is a result of failure of
bearing spacer. The system effect due to this is difficulty in cornering the vehicle, harsh

Descartes First Meditations By Rene Descartes
In René Descartes First Meditations, he introduces three main sceptical arguments for the possibility
of doubt: illusion, dreaming and error. Descartes purpose in his First Meditations is to define
knowledge by placing doubt on the sceptical arguments capacity to provide truth. In this essay, I will
focus on the argument from dreaming. There are many objections against the argument; therefore I
will assess the soundness of the argument and whether it establishes universal doubt based on the
plausibility of the objections. Moreover, I will further conclude that it is possible to know if we are
dreaming or not at any given moment and that we are not always in a dream.
The argument of dreaming
The principle premise of the argument from dreaming is that there are no sure signs by means of
which being awake can be distinguished from being asleep. This leads to the premise that one often
feels sensations and perceptions similarly to when one is awake. Then, it is possible that we do not
know if we are dreaming right now or not. This is a valid argument which attacks all sense perception
and allows us to doubt even the most ordinary and certain things, as you may be dreaming them rather
than actually experiencing it.
Objections to the argument
Descartes hypothesizes that we cannot distinguish the state of being in a dream and being awake. As a
result, he concludes that our sensory perception is unreliable, and we should strip down our judgement
through sensory perception and

The clinical presentation is a severe right lower quadrant pain, nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite,
fever, or constipation. Therefore, during a good physical examination, it is important to rule out by
looking for positive psoas signs and rebound tenderness. Appendicitis is a medical emergency which
requires immediate surgery to remove the appendix before burst, or eventually perforate into the
abdominal cavity that can be fetal if left untreated (Singer, Thode Singer, 2016).
Trauma Patient who is pregnant or may be suspicion of pregnancy has increased risk of being victims
of domestic violence. Therefore, the stress of being victim of domestic violence may cause irregular

from the inflicted trauma, but also from somatization of stress. Some clinical presentation includes

  • 2. Generation Gap In Into The Wild The Generation Gap Picture this: you are twenty two years old. You just graduated from college and you are about to start your first real job. You need money desperately to pay off your mountainous pile of student debt but more importantly, your phone just broke this morning when you were ordering your daily low fat, non dairy mocha macchiato and you need to buy the new iPhone. You haven t been able to check Twitter in over three hours and the anxiety of not knowing what new offensive tweet from your newest president, Donald Trump, says is eating you alive. You call your parents for help because maybe, just maybe, they will help you out with money this one last time and of course they do... This is the typical life of over seventy five million ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example, parents who grew up in the south and learned racism disowned their daughter because she was dating a black boy. This is an extreme case in how racism among generations can ruin a family, but sadly, this is something that happens all the time. Another example of differing viewpoints by generation in a family can be seen in Into the Wild by Jon Krakauer when Chris McCandless strongly disagrees about what the meaning of life is; his father believes it s all about the material goods and having money but Chris believes that it s about finding peace with yourself without the outside influence of media or society. A more specific example of this is when Chris father offered to buy Chris a new car but he did not want it because he already had a car that worked perfectly fine (Krakauer 20). Millennials are more open to equality and diversity.60% of millennials say that interracial marriage is a change for the better while only 29% of baby boomers say that it is a good thing. Perhaps this could be because of the creation of social media. By being connected to whoever you want whenever you want, you are able to share ideas and information instantaneously. This is a great way to spread culture and beliefs. By exposing themselves to and becoming familiar with the culture of other people, you become more accepting and comfortable with that group of people that may be foreign to ... • 3. Microscale Synthesis of Acetylsalicylic Acid Synthesis of Aspirin Ling Tecson Gamido, Mitchiko Mariel M. Mizukami Abstract Acetylsalicylic acid, or also known as aspirin is known to be a drug that relives people of pain and is commonly used even today. It is synthesized from salicylic acid and ethanoic anhydride, both of small quantities. Phosphoric acid was used as a catalyst in the synthesis to speed up the process. Esterification is involved and the final product is aspirin with the presence of acetic acid as the byproduct. In order to create the powder form of aspirin, the process of crystallization was conducted and was run through vacuum filtration. After running through the help of an electronic instrument, the result that was achieved in this experiment was met due to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... With the presence of carboxylic acid (which is active in the reaction of the synthesis) in the results done by an electronic instrument, it shows that the reaction went through the right direction. The proper techniques needed in the synthesis of aspirin and the physical properties of aspirin are determined and applied. The synthesis of aspirin by analysis of its melting point, IR and mass spectrum are confirmed. Recommendations A recommendation would be a more accurate and safer way of transporting the reactants inside a test tube. A small amount of salicylic acid was remaining on the walls of the test tube. Due to this, an increased amount of acetic anhydride was used for the experiment. This could have affected the yield of the final product. Through the vacuum filtration, some of the reaction mixtures were not able to properly go through the filtration since it was not able to properly go through the filter. Though Dianne has gone through some tough times herself, she still keeps going and has lived an incredibly interesting life. This is the story of Dianne Oliphant Birch, my mother and my best friend. It was a warm, sunny afternoon on December 25th, 1974 when Marion Christina Manson Oliphant and Raymond Stanley Oliphant brought a beautiful baby girl, Dianne, into the world. It was an amazing day for her mom, dad, sister, and brother who were visiting the Marymount Maternity Hospital in Johannesburg, South Africa. Her first job was as a receptionist at a printing company in Kew, Johannesburg. The owner of the printing company knew her dad, Raymond, who worked at a partnering printing company. Dianne learned a lot about the printing industry and is amazed at how much it has changed over the years. In April 1995, Dianne, Andrew and six of their very dear friends went on the most unforgettable vacation ever. They all chartered a house boat on Lake Kariba, Zimbabwe. It was a weeklong vacation that she talks about all the time. She got to see elephants and hippos up close and swam in crocodile infested waters. • 6. The Tort And The Civil Wrong The term tort refers to a civil wrong. The phase tort is Norman French and means wrong. In Anglo Saxon times tort was established with punishments, for example individuals from clans had to pay for the civil wrong they executed. During the Norman Conquest there was no contrast between civil wrongs or general crimes carried out. After the Norman Conquest kings and courts were very influential and punishments would be decided by them. If any fines of punishment were held the money would go to the king or the relevant court. After this period any civil wrong that was executed was either known as a trespass or a tort. Felonies were known as major acts against the law. Writs were legal written orders and by the thirteenth century became essential for the guidelines of retribution. There are many elements within tort; the main aspect is what act and what damage has been committed and not the reason why an individual committed an act. The theory of tort has developed and evolved during the years. The law today ensures victims of tort with remedies. Tort can be dealt with in civil courts, county courts or High courts. It depends mainly on the level of seriousness of a case. Within tort there is the area of negligence which has many different elements. It can analyse the state of mind of an individual committing a crime aswell as the harm caused which could include harm done unintentionally. The approach of tort negligence is related to an individual being harmed through an act of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Spatiotemporal Continuity In The Case Of The Prince And... Leibniz, Spatiotemporal Continuity and the Case of the Prince and the Cobbler Leibniz uses the concept of spatiotemporal continuity to argue that if a person is the same, they will be numerically identical, and have the same body as before. It is the only way to count people as people, because people can change their minds, but not their bodies, as it is impossible to track the direction of a person s mind. In the example of the Prince and the Cobbler, the Prince and the Cobbler switch bodies, but that does not mean that the Prince is any less worthy of being a Prince, and the Cobbler is still a Cobbler by the definition of spatiotemporal continuity. • 8. No Country For Black Boys By Joy Priest Where is my country? The poem No Country for Black Boys by Joy Priest represents the sorrowful incident which happened on February 26, 2012 for Trayvon Martin in Florida. Trayvon Martin was an innocent African American young boy who bought iced tea and some skittles. On the way back to his father s home, he got shot by the neighborhood watch and treated as a victim because of his skin color. Guilt was not defined by what Martin did but by what he said, also it determined something deep rooted in the young age. No weapon was needed to identify him as a victim. He is a young black boy, so he is already guilty enough to be killed. Black people have the same rights as the other people, however in reality, America s society discriminates against them compared to other nationalities. People feel unsafe when they see African American young boys. President Obama said There are very few African American men in this country who haven t had the experience of being followed when they were shopping in a department store. That includes me. African American kids prepare themselves from childhood to prove their honesty to the other nations around. They learned to hide from the cops even before they learned how to read a book. Young black men are considered as wild black animals when they become adults. They behave toward a person who makes trouble before they are treated as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Underwater National Parks Research Paper Underwater National Parks Underwater national parks were created in order to preserve the sea life seeing as how we haven t explored ninety five percent of our oceans. Their focus is isolating an area and maintaining the wildlife within it. Everything from coral to stingrays and plankton that inhabit the parks. While the animals are taken care of, the national park ensures protection for the history that lies within its waters. Underwater national parks are crucial because of the marine life that inhabits it and the history and culture that the parks preserve. According to Oceans for youth, 1972 was the year in which legislation opted to create the first underwater national park. It was named Title III of the Marine Protection, Research, and Sanctuaries of 1972. National parks, which were created to conserve natural, historical, and cultural values, lacked funding and support. It is a primarily a visual medium, and it is this facet that predicates its innate ability to represent, alter and, therefore arguably subvert memory. Moreover, as Sturken states ...cinematic representations of the past have the capacity to entangle with personal and cultural memory. 1 In the case of films dealing with the Vietnam War, this capacity proves central to the creation of cultural memory regarding the event. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In this complex process certain events and information will invariably be ignored (i.e. forgotten) emphasising that the creation of memory relies both on constructive recollection and active forgetting. It is these intricate and reciprocal relationships between accepted historical discourses, cultural memory and cultural products that have informed my choice of films. Platoon (1986) and Born on the Fourth of July (1989) possess many ostensible similarities as well as distinct differences. Furthermore, and significantly, both films are based somewhat on personal memories, therefore providing valuable if divergent insights into the processes behind the creation of cultural memory, the mediation of historical discourses and the re shaping of personal experience. The director and writer of both films is Oliver Stone (though he co wrote the screenplay to Born on the Fourth of July in collaboration with Vietnam veteran Ron Kovic), an individual whose life has been profoundly affected by the Vietnam War. Not dissimilar to the character of Chris Taylor, Stone dropped out of Yale University and voluntarily enrolled for service. Stone s Vietnam films benefit from his personal experience and memories of the event, providing a dimension of gravitas, an authenticity that is visceral and affecting. These distinctive facets of his work contribute to the creation of cultural memory, as his films effectively mediate personal and collective memory into the complex forum ... Hurricane Irene affected the Caribbean and much of the United States east coast and was one of the most damaging tropical cyclones of the 2011 Atlantic tropical cyclone season. Irene originated east of the Lesser Antilles from a well defined Atlantic tropical wave in that area, and became Tropical Storm Irene on August 20, 2011. Irene reached its highest point as a 120 mph Category 3 hurricane. Irene was ranked the seventh costliest hurricane with damages that cost around $15.6 billion in the United States. The study that was analyzed utilizes a Geographic Information System (GIS) to characterize the spatial patterns of rainfall produced by Irene and to classify other tropical cyclones that took the same track as Irene over the United States. A GIS is a system that is designed to capture, store, maneuver, examine, manage, and present all types of geographical data. In order to use the GIS they first had to identify analog tropical cyclones that took a path similar to Irene over the United States which they obtained from HURDAT. HURDAT, or the North Atlantic hurricane database, is the system that keeps all the records for all tropical cyclones in the Atlantic Ocean, Gulf of Mexico, and the Caribbean Sea, since 1851. Once similar tropical storms were obtained, then the latitude and longitude coordinates from the six hourly positions of Irene were entered into the GIS and the points were then transformed into a line feature. This line feature represents Irene s track and it was buffered by 200 kilometers to allow for the tropical cyclones to be analyzed in this study region. The tropical cyclones that were similar to Irene were then imported into the GIS. Once the buffer was applied there were twenty five tropical cyclones with tracks similar to that of Irene. • 14. Comparing The Israelites And The Puritans The Puritans believe they are morally superior to everyone else. The Puritans are about to leave England. They are Israelites is what they are. They are fleeing Egypt. Good Riddance! Next stop, land of milk/honey(4). Vowell uses a simile to compare the Puritans to the Israelites in order to reveal how the Puritans consider themselves. The Old Testament Israelites, references specifically the Israelites that escaped from Egypt in the Book of Exodus. After the population of Jews in Egypt had become so numerous the Pharaoh feared what they might be able to do and put them into slavery. The Israelites eventually escaped Egypt by crossing the Red Sea and eventually make it to land God had gifted them, the land of Canaan. The Puritans compare to the Israelites because they too felt some religious persecution. Catholic rulers like Mary I persecuted Protestants and had many executed. The Puritans also flee from a land not as pure as themselves in order to start anew. Cotton himself tells the Puritans that they are God s chosen, and America is their Canaan. The Israelites inspire the Puritans to get away. The Old Testament Israelites are to the Puritans what the blues was to the Rolling Stones a source of inspiration, a renewable resource of riffs(2). The blues is a genre of music originating in the Deep South of the United States around the end of the 19th century. The emotion ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

They reflect light from all sides creating a mirror like appearance. The branches initially flow upward but then gradually flow into the middle where they are conjoined. They are located in Madison Square Park where they seem to blend in with the rest of the trees but they definitely manage to stand out. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Stainless steel is more expensive than standard steel. Paine has studied and observed they way trees grow and this has allowed him to form his own artistic rendition. Paine uses the visual element of Direction and Movement to make the trees appear like they are growing into each other or being pulled apart. The branches are tapering at the tips and flowing to the side almost like a windstorm is blowing them over. Looking at the trees you get a real sense of struggle between forces. They look like they are pulling apart but at the same time trying to overtake one another. He also uses the visual element of Shape and Mass. The trees are 3D representation of actual trees. They are over 40 foot tall and very heavy; therefore they consume a large amount of volume and mass. The trees appear to be constructed from geometric shapes but also try to follow the form of nature in a more organic way. Since the two trees are a sculpture they are naturally 3D but their reflection caused by light shining on the stainless steel reminds us of their intricate details. The trees have a very strong gray monochromatic earth tone caused by the steel. A Principle of Design that Paine emphasizes is Unity. The trees are conjoined, rendering them as one, as a whole, they are in unison. The trees appear to be to scale when compared to the other trees in the park. They are not too small nor do the feel out of place. There is a strong emphasis near the middle of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The barbaric people of the medieval period went through a change due to their Christianisation but how did this come about? The barbaric people spread through the Roman Empire, after its collapse they moved through the empire taking their pagan beliefs with them. From the impact of every day necessities such as language and culture to the impact of leaders and kings I will look at pin pointing the causes of the Christianisation of Germanic people and why they were convinced by this new faith. First it must be noted that throughout this essay I will be using barbarian and Germanic interchangeably to describe the people in question. It is better to try and prevent crimes than it is to punish them, this is achieved by good legislation which guides men to their greatest, or least unhappiness possible (Beccaria, 1767). As mentioned previously, Beccaria s utilitarian ideology has shaped the justice system in western societies for many decades. Therefore, Beccaria can be described as a very influential thinker. Without his contribution we could still have a system of capital punishment, and that is a worrying thought. However, we now seem fixed with utilitarian justice. It may be argued that it is now time to move towards restorative justice. There are also those such as Tullock (1974), who argue for a return to harsher sentencing. Some states in the US still consider the death penalty to be a legitimate punishment. So it can be said that Beccaria is undoubtedly a key thinker in criminology, but as with all key thinkers he is not without his critics. Cesare Lombroso was also Italian but came from a Jewish family and is very different to Beccaria. He trained as a medical doctor and graduated in 1858. One of Freud s early psychoanalytic theories regarding depression was the child turning guilt ridden anger on the self, meaning that a child s dissatisfaction with their parental relationships would clash with their desire to impress their parents, causing them to internalise their bitter and dissatisfied emotions. • 37. Descartes First Meditations By Rene Descartes In René Descartes First Meditations, he introduces three main sceptical arguments for the possibility of doubt: illusion, dreaming and error. Descartes purpose in his First Meditations is to define knowledge by placing doubt on the sceptical arguments capacity to provide truth. In this essay, I will focus on the argument from dreaming. There are many objections against the argument; therefore I will assess the soundness of the argument and whether it establishes universal doubt based on the plausibility of the objections. Moreover, I will further conclude that it is possible to know if we are dreaming or not at any given moment and that we are not always in a dream. The argument of dreaming The principle premise of the argument from dreaming is that there are no sure signs by means of which being awake can be distinguished from being asleep. This leads to the premise that one often feels sensations and perceptions similarly to when one is awake. Then, it is possible that we do not know if we are dreaming right now or not. This is a valid argument which attacks all sense perception and allows us to doubt even the most ordinary and certain things, as you may be dreaming them rather than actually experiencing it. Objections to the argument Descartes hypothesizes that we cannot distinguish the state of being in a dream and being awake. As a result, he concludes that our sensory perception is unreliable, and we should strip down our judgement through sensory perception and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
