Glumania-Personal Narrative Essay
It all began with a simple phone call one night after dinner. Josh, my grandfather yelled up the stairs, it
s for you. It s Jackie, and she sounds angry. As I came downstairs to pick up the phone, I was not
happy. I was tired and had looked forward to a nice quiet evening at home, not another pointless
police chase leading to me and Jackie being outran by some goons. Thirty minutes later, however,
Jackie s white Mustang skrted into our driveway, and Jackie was laying on the horn before the car had
come to a full stop. I scurried to get my shoes and jacket, then ran out the front door with all the
enthusiasm of a man going to chase after the largest cartel on planet Glumania. Jackie was excited as
always even after our continuous failures ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I was surprised by myself to be completely truthful. Tom replied still chuckling since what he had
made our car into was hardly believable.
After leaving the shop I raced down the almost empty roadways in the middle of the night to meet
with Jackie back at our previous location in the field. The look on her face was priceless when she saw
me hover up next to her in the Mustang.
Hop in and let s go catch these guys. I yelled to Jackie.
She got in and had so many questions to ask which is as expected from her. We flew off in the
direction we last saw the space car speed off towards. There was no sight of where the car possibly
went, but we continued going farther and farther out into what appeared to be nowhere. The cool calm
air rushed through my hair as we continued or journey, it was silent except for the noise of the
humming engine. We decided to delay our pursuit since we had been up all night and find a place to
park the Mustang so we could get some sleep.
As I was drifting off into what would have been a peaceful sleep the roar of an engine in the distance
woke me up.
Headlights! I whispered as loudly as I could to

Education Reform For The United States
Education in America started with the Pilgrims in the early 1600 s. The first public school was opened
in 1635 in Boston Massachusetts. In 1642, Massachusetts started an education reform that stated Any
child not properly educated would apprentice to a trade . This education reform was created because
they believed it was important for children and citizens to be able to read the laws of the land. This
was the first law that required children to be education. If they were not properly educated they would
be moved from their home to a better fit environment where they would be able to learn. Virginia then
followed with a similar law in 1646. In 1647 Massachusetts founded an act called Old Deluder Satan
Act . This act required towns of more than fifty families to hire a teacher for reading and writing.
Towns of more than a hundred families had to establish a grammar school which served as college
preparation. Dame schools taught reading and writing to females because this was all they were
expected to learn so that they would not have the same intellect as men. Their classes were held in the
teacher s kitchen who continued her chores while the students did their lessons. At the beginning of
the 20th century, parents and public schools began demanding more practical and useful curriculums.
Growing up with my mom as a teacher I know how much time they spend working and helping their
students learn and achieve so many things and how little they receive back in

Ariana Grande s Song You Don T Know Me
Art can be expressed in many different forms. Such as paintings, literature, dance, photography, and
music. The purpose of art is to convey stories to an audience. An example of this would be Ariana
Grande s song, You Don t Know Me . In this song, Ariana is telling the story of how people are
judging her based off of what is said about her in the media, instead of getting to know her for
themselves. Art can be interpreted in different mediums. I decided to use the different principles and
elements of art such as emphasis, focal point, color, variety, pattern, rhythm, positive shapes, and
contrast in order to recreate the story that Ariana is singing about in her song. In my composition, I am
telling the story of a two girls. First, I drew ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In my piece, I used the repetition of the shapes of lines and colors to create a pattern. This pattern of
alternating colors created an alternating rhythm in my artwork. I received inspiration for this rhythm
from the alternating rhythm in the song. Grande s Song starts off with heavy bass and is loud, but
transitions into a softer and slower rhythm. Throughout the song they rotate. In my composition, I
recreated this alternating rhythm by the way I had my lines start from the bottom corner on the right
side, but on the opposite side I started my lines from the top corner. The alternating colors and lines on
both sides create their own rhythms which coexist to form a complex, alternating rhythm in the
design. Using the colored lines I made a positive shape inside of my artwork. The outline of my figure
s body is the positive shape because it appears to be in the front of the composition. I made the girl a
positive shape because instead of coloring her in I left her colorless. The figure also creates a contrast
in my artwork. The plain, whiteness of the figure creates a contrast with the colorful lines next to it. In
conclusion, I used the different principles and elements of art to convey the story from Ariana Grande
s song, You Don t Know Me . Using emphasis, focal point, color, variety, pattern, rhythm, positive
shapes, and contrast to communicate the theme of the story is saying that people

Technological Advancements Brought on by World War II Essay
One of the most recognized technologic advancements in plans during world war one and two waqs
the blitzberg plan. The World War Two era was a time of change. There were many technological
advancements during this time. These advances can be categorized into three categories. They are
weapon advances, vehicle advances, and strategic advances. This technology would change the face of
war forever. The first category, weapon advances, is a very important category. Leading up to the war,
weapons were changing constantly. Weapons of World War One were out of date. They were
becoming more accurate, and capable of longer ranges. In World War One, the average soldier carried

The second group of advances is vehicle advances. This category can be broken down into a few sub
categories. They are ground vehicles, ships, and aircraft. This category of technology was one of the
most important influences of the war. First, we will discuss ground vehicle advances. The Jeep was
invented in World War Two. It was used as basic transportation for troops. After the war, the Jeep
became more popular and was then used as a production vehicle for the public. Tanks of World War
One were very primitive and very ineffective. In World War Two, the tank was one of the most
important vehicles used. Leading up to World War Two, tanks were made more powerful, faster,
lighter, and stronger. Tank warfare was very important in World War Two. All countries involved in
the war were producing their own models of tanks. By the end of the war, the Allies had developed a
new kind of tank. It had no big guns on it. It was a troop transportation vehicle that was heavily
armored. Transportation vehicles were very important in the war. Without transportation, there is no
efficient way to move troops. All of these vehicles were very important in the history of war.
The next group of vehicles is the ships. Naval technology was very primitive prior to this time. The
radar was a breakthrough in navigation and enemy detection. However, the radar was new technology,

Ghazali Conditional Statement
Al Ghazali begins his discussion of theodicy with a conditional statement that will frame the rest of
his one hundred line discussion contained in his Ihya text. This conditional statement has as its
antecedent a series of eight hypotheticals which are aimed at creating a hypothetical multitude of
immensely knowledgeable and wise creatures. The antecedent contains the following hypotheticals:
all creatures being as intelligent and knowledgeable as the most intelligent and knowledgeable human,
God giving each creature the maximum knowledge and wisdom that their souls can handle, God then
giving each creature the combined knowledge of all creatures, God revealing to each creature the
consequences of things, God teaching each creature the mysteries of the transcendent world, God
teaching each creature about divine favor, God making each creature aware of final punishments, God
making each creature aware of good and evil and of benefit and harm. All of these components of the
antecedent serve to set up a scenario in which there exists a multitude of extremely wise and
knowledgeable creatures. These components are presented in lines one through sixteen of the passage
quoted by Ormsby on his pages 38 41 of Theodicy in Islamic Thought. If the conditions of the
antecedent were met, says Al Ghazali, then another conditional claim would be the case. This second
conditional claim, which is the consequent of the first conditional claim and is contained in lines
sixteen through nineteen, has as its antecedent God asking all of the now hyper wise and hyper
knowledgeable creatures to work together in creating the best possible arrangement of this world and
of the transcendent world. If God asked this of the creatures in the hypothetical, Al Ghazali says in
lines nineteen through twenty four that the creatures would produce an arrangement that is exactly
identical to the way in which God has arranged His creation as it truly is. Al Ghazali, in lines twenty
four through twenty seven goes so far as to say that the product would not have subtracted or added as
little as a gnat s wing and that it would not have altered the position of a single particle of dust. The
product of the creatures labors also would not differ from

emergencies that are in place within the school setting (P3).
These policies and procedures of accident, injury, illness and other emergencies are in place within the
school setting to govern working practices and provide quality and an agreed framework for action.
The management within the school setting is responsible for creating the policies and for checking that
they are being followed, and the staffs are responsible for implementing the policies.
As all staff and parents must be aware of these policies, you will often find them on a notice board, or

In order to maintain a clean and healthy environment this policy provides guidance for staff and
parents as to when children should or should not be in school if showing signs of illness. The health
and wellbeing of all children is of paramount importance to enable them to be successful learners and
to be the best that they can be.
Guidance
Children should not be brought to school if they are displaying signs of illness. If parents do bring
children to school and staff feel that they are unfit for school, parents / carers / emergency contact will
be contacted and requested to come and collect their child and requested not to return their child to
school until symptom free.
If a child is thought to be unwell while at school they will be seen by a qualified first aider as the
condition of the child needs to be assessed. This should be done in a kind and caring manner. The
Head Teacher of should be informed of any sick children.
Should a child become ill whilst at school, a member of staff will contact the parent / carer /
emergency contact. While awaiting the arrival of parents, the staff will ensure the comfort of the child
in the school office, taking appropriate action, which would include seeking medical advice if
necessary. If the child is in danger, the staff will seek medical advice immediately. Should a member
of staff consider an illness / situation to warrant immediate medical attention, they will report to a

The Stereotypes Of Teenagers In Pop Culture
Alcohol, drugs, and sex: this is the recipe for a typical teenager in pop culture. Stereotypes of high
school students appear in countless movies, books, and television shows. Based on media sources, a
prevalent opinion of teenagers is that they are extremely rebellious, selfish, and irresponsible. Society
has become used to a negative image of adolescents; many just ignore how teenagers actually act.
Despite the fact that many consider these visual representations of high schoolers are true, only a few
of these representations are correct. However, there may be more variables involved. For example,
these young adults may be facing stressful decisions or handling immense family situations. Although
each individual high school exhibits unique characteristics, high school students can be split into three
distinct classifications: brainiacs, jocks, and underachievers. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Being college bound is their main goal. Brainiacs dedicate themselves to their homework and take
many college, advanced placement, and honors courses. As the name suggests, brainiacs always study,
earning stellar grades on every assignment or test. These pupils remain class oriented and waste little
time. Brainiacs also thrive on responsibility. Being the president of multiple school organizations and
turning in homework days ahead of the due date are a few examples of their traits. Many call these
pupils goodie two shoes because they rarely break a rule, receive a detention, or fail to complete their
homework. Unfortunately, the behavior that brainiacs exhibit is not popular, so they tend to be the
object of aggression for bullies. Despite the consequences, the brainiacs consistently stay true to
themselves and their passion, demonstrating the most intelligence in the

Essay on Fight Club and Our Consumer Identity
Fight Club and Our Consumer Identity
The narrator in the film Fight Club is questioned about his devastated condo and declares, That condo
was my life, okay? I loved every stick of furniture in that place. That was not just a bunch of stuff that
got destroyed, that was me! This attitude of defining self identity through a consumer culture has
become institutionalized in the American society. The film Fight Club addresses the excessive
consumerism as a sign of emotional emptiness and as a form of self distinction. While the title
suggests that it is just another cliché action movie, it is not so shallow or narrowly focused. It instead
provides the viewer with a provocative view on American society and it raises valid questions about ...

collar workers. Shirt less men beat each other into bloody messes every Saturday night in the
basement of a bar. As the movie progresses, this underground club becomes more of a renegade
resistance group that causes mayhem to corporate America. While Tyler is leading his cult to more
mischief and mayhem, Jack thinks it has gotten out of hand. Fight club has spread across the country
and Tyler s next mission is to blow up all the major credit companies to erase everyone s credit thus
leveling the economic playing field. Jack, in an attempt to stop him, chases Tyler around the country
but it always appears that he has just missed Tyler. Jack slowly comes to the conclusion that he
himself and Tyler are the same person. While Jack thought he was sleeping, in reality his
schizophrenic other half was working Tyler s jobs, making soap and trying to blow Americas
materialistic views to pieces. Jack is able to destroy his alter ego by over coming Tyler s influence and
shooting himself through the cheek; however, he is not able to stop Tyler s explosions. The last scene
shows the buildings collapsing while Jack and Marla are kissing.
Fight Club challenges the typical American consumer identity by creating two contradicting
characters. Jack starts out as a consumer defining his life by possessions, while Tyler lives his life on
his own terms. One of the better

How Did The Rise And Spread Of Islam
Islam is one of the oldest and the second largest religions today, coming second to Christianity. The
religion is believed to derive mostly from the teachings of the prophet Muhammad. He was also
believed to be the last prophet. Islam began in about 600 AD, around the time Muhammad was
instructed to teach the word of God in Mecca. When Muhammad was about forty years of age, he
began having visions and would also hear voices. Often enough, he would find clarity by meditating
in a cave at Mount Hira (near Mecca). One day as he was meditating, he saw a light and felt
sequestered. It was the Archangel Gabriel speaking to him, revealing the first verse. This verse was the
first of many that would later become the basis of the Quran. During the pre Islamic Arabian
Peninsula, it was believed that there were multiple Gods but these revelations contradicted that belief;
proving that there existed only one God. Like other prophets, Muhammad was chosen to be the
messenger of the word of God. Due to the animosity he received, Muhammad left Mecca and went to
Medina. While there, he would still receive divine revelations and began to build an expanding
community full of supporters and followers of the new faith. After years of violence due to the
conflicting religions, Mecca surrendered. Muhammad and his followers returned to Mecca after that
and destroyed the pagan idols while spreading the new faith and belief in one God. After the holy Qur

Analysis Of The North American Market Richardson
In the North American market Richardson s has a strength in dominating particular regions such as
Kansas, Texas and Oklahoma where they receive 75% of their companies sales. This allows them to
have lower shipping costs and possibly lower advertising costs in the areas because they have regular
customers who are returning to buy items because Richardson s strong brand equity can bring trust
and low searching costs. Having most of their sales in a particular region is also a disadvantage for the
company because if something were to happen in that region that slowed down income for the farmers
in the area (drought or disaster) Richardson s sales would be in trouble. This is because the company
relies on a particular region for sales and the company is not well diversified within other regions of
the United States, which creates risk within such a specific market. Richardson Manufacturing has
seen a cumulative increase in net sales of 11% (Sheet 1, L4) within the domestic market which is great
because it shows their sales have increased over the past 4 years. At the same time, there is a lot of
volatility in the net sales as the growth percentage goes fro 2% to 19% and eventually back to only 7%
growth. This lack of consistent growth may mean a market that is changing or relying too much on
external factors and so Richardson s team should be aware of the variability. The cumulative net profit
increase of about 50% (Sheet 1, cell L18) shows that Richardson s net profit on

Introduction Of Louis Vuitton Malletier
Louis Vuitton Malletier, most commonly referred to as Louis Vuitton, was established in 1854 by
Louis Vuitton, who pursued his impetuous passion for the fashion industry by constructing his own
luxury fashion retail company. Louis Vuitton, who was only 10 when his mother passed away, decided
to leave his home at the age of 13, alone and on foot, bound for Paris. He traveled for more than two
years, taking odd jobs to feed himself along the way and staying wherever he could find shelter, as he
walked the 292 mile trek from his native Anchay to Paris. He arrived in 1837, at the age of 16. After
arriving, Louis noticed the wide spread poverty, but what really peaked his interest was how Paris was
being transformed by the industrial revolution. Vuitton met a successful box maker and packer named
Monsieur Marechal, who took Louis on as an apprentice to his craft. In 19th century Europe, box
making and packing was a highly respectable and urbane craft. A box maker and packer custom made
all boxes to fit the goods they stored and they personally loaded and unloaded the boxes. It took
Vuitton only a few years to stake out a reputation amongst Paris s fashionable class as one of the city s
premier practitioners of his new craft. In 1854 at age 33, Vuitton married 17 year old Clemence Emilie
Parriaux. Soon after the marriage, he left Marechal s shop, and inaugurated his own workshop of box
making and packing in Paris. Outside the shop a sign hung reading Securely packs the most

The Christian Influence on The Middle Ages Essay
In 312 CE, Roman Emperor Constantine achieved a victory at the Milvian Bridge. The night previous
to this battle, Constantine dreamt of a cross inscribed in hoc signo vinces, in this sign you will
conquer. As trivial as this dream may seem, it ultimately signified the beginning of the rise of
Christianity. With his victory, Emperor Constantine converted to Christianity and supported and
encouraged it throughout the empire. In 313 CE, another milestone occurred as the emperors, both
Constantine I of the West and Licinius of the East, signed the Edict of Milan declaring that the
Diocletianic Persecution would end, and Christianity would be tolerated in the Roman Empire. This
religion began to flourish as people quickly converted from pagan ... Show more content on

One of the most important contributors of this time was Saint Benedict of Nursia. To guide Christians
pursuing such a life, St. Benedict wrote Regula Benedicti, The Rule of Saint Benedict. This book was
composed of precepts for monks to follow as they lived in communal monasteries under an abbot.
Ideally, poverty, chastity, and obedience were the most sought after traits that one should follow. Saint
Benedict instructed monks to participate daily in written prayers, devotionals, manual labor, and
commanded a pledge of poverty, chastity, and obedience (Benedict).
Because these rules are not just spiritually beneficial, secular impacts were gained from the
monasteries way of life. Monks became a hero of the people of the medieval times in countless ways.
These monks were examples to all of a righteous way of living. When monks devoted their lives to
God, others saw the devotion exemplified in daily life. The humility the monks strived for implicated
a humble heart , serious and humble speech , doing nothing except what is commended by his
superiors , and being content with the worst of everything (Benedict). This lifestyle could infinitely
increase the quality of life for any person as it provided an example for people to become helpful,
moral citizens, regardless of religious affiliation. As Christianity and monasteries became more
popular amongst people, monks traveled to

A High Quality Of Family Target Group
From my perspective, Walt Disney corporate strategy is to develop a high quality of family target
group. They want to adapt to advance in technology so that the best work would always be produced
to make their pastime experience more significant than the others. They also want to expand more
internationally. I believe that the stability of the family brand industry is not just to be passion based,
but to combine other things like media networks, parks and resorts, studio entertainment, consumer
products, and interactive media (pg.276). This acknowledges Walt Disney to become more different.

Traditional And Complementary Medicine
INTRODUCTION
Across the world, traditional medicine (TM) is either the mainstay of health care delivery or serves as
a complement to it. In some countries, traditional medicine or non conventional medicine may be
termed complementary medicine (CM).(WHO, 2015)
Traditional and Complementary Medicine is an important and often underestimated part of health
care. It is found in almost every country in the world and the demand for its services is increasing as

African continents. The following are some of the most prominent countries of origin.
India
In India, ayuverda, sidha and unani systems of medicine have been used for centuries. These three
forms of medicine have co existed together with yoga, neuropathy and homeopathy. These are widely
used, especially in rural areas where 70% of the Indian population lives. There are 2860 hospitals,
with a total of 45 720 beds, providing traditional Indian systems of medicine and homeopathy in India.
The traditional medicines practiced in India are all recognized by the government of India under the
Central Council of Indian Medicine Act of 1970. The act provides for standardization of training by
prescribing minimum standards of education in traditional medicine, advising the central Government
in matters relating to recognition/withdrawal of medical qualifications in traditional medicine in India,
maintenance of the central register of Indian medicine, prescribing standards of professional conduct

Cortical Bone Loss In The Neolithic Community
Unlike Greece where the majority of the research has been the team has also started to look and do
research in the Neolithic settlement of Çatalhöyük. One of the research projects that occurred in that
location is the investigation of cortical bone loss and fracture patterns in the Neolithic community
using radiogrammetry. The main focus of this study is an examination of the widely used calculation
that expresses second metacarpal cortical bone values, followed by an examination of age and sex
related patterns of cortical bone loss and skeletal fragility fracture in a Neolithic archaeological
skeletal sample from Çatalhöyük, Turkey. This study is particularly unique because there have been

While it is argued that the influence of bone/body size is removed from MWI and CTI and can be
demonstrated algebraically, statistically and graphically, analogous CI values in this analysis did not
differ noticeably or influence statistical outcomes. We do suggest however, that the relationship
between size variables and measurement variables are explored prior to the application of ratios. Bone
quantity and quality of the human skeleton is the cumulative product of health, diet and nutrition,
physical activity and lifestyle over the life course. Further, while nutrition plays a key role in skeletal
growth and maintenance during all developmental stages, diet and nutrition are intricately woven with
other biological, social, and cultural influences on the skeleton. Bone tissue is a dynamic medium that
is capable of recording many life history events, allowing us to reconstruct some of the key influences
on bone loss and fragility in past populations. While our work, on cortical bone loss at Çatalhöyük
remains preliminary, and will benefit with the addition of biomechanical analyses in other long bones
of the skeleton, the patterns revealed in this study do provide some insight on bone health across
different life stages, particularly in those individuals from the later Neolithic phases of mound
occupation. Adult cortical bone loss measured in the metacarpals shows some of the expected age
related patterns but

Why Canadian Prohibition Failed
Canada experimented with banning alcohol during the early 20th century. The movement grew out of
the earlier Temperance Movement, which steadily grew in popularity during the mind 19th century.
There are four reasons why prohibition ultimately failed in Canada: (1) it was not really enforced; (2)
it was not truly effective; (3) a shift in popular thought; (4) and loss of public support. (Idea of
Provinces + order) In the end, the government would change its stance from one of illegality to control
and regulation. In order to truly understand Canadian prohibition the prior temperance movement
must be examined. During the 19th century, alcohol was seen as a great evil (citation needed). This

This motive was to follow into Canada s age of prohibition, thus it is important to mention why the
CTA failed. After the CTA was passed alcohol transactions reduced very little (Citation Warsh). The
Royal Commission on the Effects of the Liquor Traffic in 1895 noted that: The Scott Act [the CTA],
although in force over a large portion of the Province [New Brunswick], is in reality not enforced in
most of the countries, and... in almost every part of the province [New Brunswick] a plentiful supply
is to be had by those who desire to get it.(Citation on 145)
Meaning, that something must have been going on in New Brunswick for there to be such blatant
disregard for the law, but what was it? Well, in the city of Moncton, New Brunswick there is a good
example of the problem like minded law enforcement and crooked bureaucrats. The city of Moncton
used the CTA to issue prohibitory law concerning alcohol in 1879. At this time, like elsewhere in New
Brunswick, liquor trade was still inexistence. In Moncton s case, though the bureaucrats were accused
of allowing the trade to occur so that they could make money, for the city and maybe for themselves,
off the fines for liquor violations. This came to a head in 1881 when a bootlegger was fined based off
the cities prohibition law. The bootlegger, eventually, petitioned New Brunswick s Supreme Court.
They reversed the city court s ruling based on a technicality. They had a quarrel with the date the

I Am A Time Spent Writing
With my headphones positioned uncomfortably in my ears, I sat slumped against my headboard. The
inelegant curving of the wood dug into my shoulders, I didn t pay attention to the discomfort of the
plastic pressing into my ears or the misshapen wood digging into my skin as my mind trailed off with
a stream of words that filled cracks and gaps like water in a dry river bed. The urge to write was
tugging at the edges of my mind, but despondency precluded me from putting pen to paper. Eighteen
years of memories were painting pictures in my head, but the right words eluded me.
Was what I wanted to write worth the time spent writing?
Who would read it?
Would I ever share what I wrote?
No, no! My writing would be shot down before the first page was finished.
I was pulled from my remembrances by the apical pain shooting down my neck, I hadn t realized I d

back of my hands as if to wipe away memories. I pulled the headphones from my ears and laid them

were a worn and washed out blue. The ceiling was stark white with a bumpy and uneven texture. I had

echocardiography, dual chamber pacemaker, septal ablation, myomectomy)
Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, HCM is a cardiac disorder with a genetic etiology, characterized by
hypertrophy of the myocardium It is an important cause of morbidity and mortality in the affected
population. Both men and women are affected equally and people of any age and race are at risk of
developing HCM. It is the most common cause of sudden cardiac death SCD in young adults,
especially athletes.
Description of the disorder Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy is characterized by interventricular septal
hypertrophy (in absence of other cardiovascular conditions), causing decrease of left ventricle cavity
and potentially leading to outflow obstruction. (1) (6) As a consequence of mutations in several genes
encoding for thick and thin filaments which build the cardiac muscle, morphological changes occur
leading to tangled, thickened myocardial fibers. It is an important cause of morbidity and mortality.
Symptomatology varies a lot, from asymptomatic patients to those with severe cardiac function
impairment. Some of the most common symptoms of HCM, which are not specific to this disorder
may be: shortness of breath at rest or with exertion, fatigue, chest pain, arrhythmias, dizziness, but not
only.
There is an ongoing debate about the onset of the hypertrophy and symptoms. Although it is

A Large Scale Version Of A Small Zip Lock Bag
A microcosm is basically a smaller scale version of a greater population, or a miniature. At the
beginning of this semester, we began the construction of our own miniature worlds within the
confinements of a small zip lock bag. We observed the changes and growth of life inside these bags
over the span of a few weeks. The reason for setting up these projects for weeks at a time, was to get a
better range of how things change and grow over time, sort of like a smaller scale of how it would
really be if grown outside the bag.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: The materials that were used in this microcosm project consisted of

The leather was added in order to begin the growth of moss in our microcosm. Once all of this was set
up, we needed to add the living organisms, the worms. Being the first day, we only added 2 worms,
one earthworm and 1 red worm. As soon as the set up was finished, we moved our microcosms to the
back, to which they were kept at a standard temperature of 70.5°F, and at a humidity of 53%. It
received natural lighting as well as light from 25watt incandescent light bulbs.
Week 1: By the second week, there wasn t much preparation left, simply added 2 more worms, and
added a bit more water.
Week 2: This was the last time more worms were added to the experiment, totaling a good 6 worms, 3
of each red worm, and 3 earthworms. Added H2O.
Week 3: No new forms of life were added, but the abiotic factors did end up changing, which would
result in the microcosm changes being a bit different. The temperature was now changed to about 69 °
F, and the humidity went from 53% to 54.5%. The other factors such as light, remained constant.
Added a bit of H2O in order to keep the microcosm moist for the worms to thrive and plants to grow.
RESULTS:
Week 1: After simply one week, there was tremendous amount of growth in the microcosm. It was
already full of small plant life. There were plenty of small sprouts from all the big seeds and small
seedlings. For the garden bean, it grew to become approximately 150mm tall. The little peas

Hydrogen as an Option for Fuel
With gas prices escalating and fossil fuels becoming limited, scientists have been researching an
alternative fuel source that will be more abundant and cost efficient. Issues with our current fuel
source include the pollution that is emitted in our air and water sources and the fact that fossil fuels are
becoming scarce. One alternative to gasoline is the use of hydrogen as a fuel source. With hydrogen as
a fuel source pollution will be in decline, it has become increasingly more abundant than fossil fuels
through extracting hydrogen from various sources, and is domestically produced. There are many pros
to using hydrogen as an alternative fuel source; namely, its abundance, its low pollution, and the fact
that it is being researched and extracted domestically. Hydrogen is one of the most abundant elements
on earth and can be found in water, hydrocarbons and other organic matter. Because of hydrogen
being so abundant scientists are able to extract it from a variety of sources, therefore, the problem with
hydrogen as a fuel source is how to exactly make hydrogen an efficient fuel source. Currently
hydrogen is extracted from natural gas, but this releases the greenhouse gas CO2 and uses up a limited
resource. This does not relieve our current issues with using up fossil fuels, just displaces them.
Recent research has suggested a means of how to resolve both of these problems. Zhang, a research
scientist from Virginia Tech, and his team have altered an enzyme that can

Sediment Contamination
Sediments are formed from fine grained waste material due to erosion from the mine site. It often
contains dissolved metals as a result of the mining processes containing some toxic constituents such
as lead and high levels of mercury. During severe storm events and high snowmelt periods, erosion
transports a significant amount of sediments and chemicals pollutants into locals streams. Dissolved
metals often settle under the stream bed and cause decreases in macroinvertebrate and benthic
invertebrate populations. Metal accumulation in aquatic organisms, particularly benthic species, can
also lead to acute and chronic toxicity to aquatic life [EPA 35]. In addition, research has shown a
correlation between an increase in suspended solids with a decrease in density of macroinvertebrate
and benthic invertebrate populations. High turbidity can also reduce passages of light and prevent
photosynthetic activity of aquatic plants [EPA 34 35]. Aquatic plants are a major food source for
macroinvertebrates and benthic invertebrates. The reduction of plants can stimulate further declines in
aquatic life populations. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Metals that settle in the stream bed can be transported by bioaccumulation. If contaminated fish is
consumed, metals may be transferred to humans and impact their physical health. Human are exposed

impacts on human and aquatic life, sedimentation can also physically impact the hydraulic system.
Physical impact associated with mining includes the filling of deep pools that can result in the loss of

Dualism In Val Plumwood s Paths Beyond Human-Centeredness
Val Plumwood in her essay Paths Beyond Human Centeredness, illustrates the impact that humans
have on nature and non animals when it comes to preserving environments. Understanding that nature
has it s living properties that let it thrive among its resources allows for people to grasp the
complexities that come about when construction companies destroy the environment in which they
work. Plumwood uses the term dualism to refer to the sharp distinction between two classes of
individuals. There is the high class, which is considered as the One. In contrast, the other side of the
division consists of individuals that are classified as lower and are subordinates to the One as Others.
This account on dualism allows the reader to understand how humans can significantly alter the
environment because of the way they perceive its resources and inhabitants. Plumwood defines five
characteristics that illustrate the oppressive actions that change the connection between human
relations and the relationship between humans and nature. In any case, individuals within society
become oppressed as higher ranked groups control their lower class counterparts. The five
characteristics that pertain to human oppression become defined in Plumwood s essay as: radical
exclusion, homogenization, denial, incorporation, and instrumentalism. Radical exclusion refers to the
separating of men as the One and women as the Other. Furthermore, this term means that the qualities
of women become

Compare And Contrast The Concentration Of Hydrochloric...
Considering the data and evidence collected from both primary, secondary and additional sources, I
can conclude that my hypothesis, which suggests that the higher the food colouring concentration, the
steeper the gradient of diffusion reaction, is valid. To support my hypothesis I will refer to my
primary, secondary and additional evidence to explain my conclusions in depth.
Firstly, if we consider the data collected in tables from my primary and secondary evidence, we can
see that the values of the range of diffusion reaction are higher when the concentration of food
colouring dye used is higher in percentage. Specifically, when the concentration is at 0%, there is no
diffusion reaction at all. In contrast, as we increase the percentage of food dye used by a specific set
value (+20% each time) the distance (radius or diameter) of food dye formed from diffusion around
the well becomes steeper. For example, 20% of food dye concentration diffused presents the lowest

The Old Gringo is a fiction novel written by one of Latin America s most renowned and eloquent

Mexican revolution fought in 1912. This contemporary fiction is based on many themes found and

The setting also influenced one of the major themes of the story, the historical relationship between
the United States and Mexico. As you can see, the setting of this novel was very important to
everything included in this story.
The main characters in this story are Harriet Winslow, the old gringo, and Tomas Arroyo. Of the
Three, Harriet learns the most as she starts her new life as governess across the frontier. She is a
dynamic character that changes in the story because of the things that happen around her. Other
characters include Manslavo, La Garduna, Frutos Garcia, La Luna and more. Carlos Fuentes did a
very good job of describing these characters and paints a picture, like all great authors, of the
characters portrayed in their novels.
Most of the story revolves, however, not around the old gringo but the young gringa, Harriet Winslow.
Harriet Winslow is a Yankee spinster, who decides one day in 1912 to break loose from her humdrum
life by taking a job as governess in Mexico. Once she arrives, she is immediately caught in the middle
of the Mexican revolution. Here, she meets the general, Tomas Arroyo, and the American author, the
old gringo. Harriet is described as a, quick, elegant, and a beautiful woman of thirty. ; In a discussion
with Miss Harriet and the old gringo, we learn that her father disappeared in the Spanish American
War somewhere in Cuba.

Positive Changes in the Quality of Life for Woman in Morocco
In recent years, Morocco has made positive changes to the rights and quality of life for women. These
changes include educational opportunities, use of contraception, more public participation, and greater
participation in the paid workforce. With the persistence of patriarchy, the presence of religion, and
the current spotlight on the Middle East, life of Muslim women still remains invisible. It is valuable to
explore the ways in which Muslim women explain their place in society today. Many feminist
movements in Morocco parallel those in the western world and create several notable achievements on
behalf of human and women s rights. At the political and social level, there are signs that conditions
for women are changing. Social organizations, which encourage women s rights, are becoming more
popular and influential. During the last part of the 19th century continuing through the 20th century
women in well off classes had access to feminist ideas and developed the first period of feminism in
Morocco. After the independence period of the 1940s the Moroccan palace created the Feminism of
State. Although more of a silent representation rather than an active transformer it paved way for more
active forms of feminism in the 1970s and 1980s. In 1969 the National Union of Moroccan Women
was created and the Moroccan Association of Familiar Planning began in 1971. These organizations

In Failing to Win, authors Dominic Johnson and Dominic Tierney analyze perceptions of victory and
defeat within the realm of international politics. These perceptions are examined through
psychological, political, and cultural factors (Johnson and Tierney, pg. 1). The book is divided into
three main sections. The first section focuses on two frameworks that shape perceptions of victory and
defeat, which Johnson and Tierney call score keeping and match fixing. The second section delves
into the conditions that may make people either score keep or match fix. Finally, the third section uses
case studies to further the argument that psychological factors impact perceptions of victory and
defeat. These case studies include: the Cuban Missile Crisis, the Tet Offensive, the Yom Kippur War,
the United States intervention in Somalia, and the American war on terror. ... Show more content on

Score keeping is the hypothesis that people s judgements of victory and defeat simply reflect the
material outcome, meaning that observers use material gains and losses to determine who won and
who lost (Johnson and Tierney, pg. 21 22). While it can be difficult to measure the degree in which
people score keep and it is not the primary way that people decide winners and losers, Johnson and
Tierney argue that it is the best way to judge victory and defeat. The second framework that is used to
explain perceptions of victory and defeat is match fixing. Rather than measuring material gains and
losses like score keeping, match fixing is based on three categories: mind sets, salient events, and
social pressures. Each category produces biases that affect perceptions of victory and defeat (Johnson
and Tierney, pg. 51) For example, expectations whether they are high or low tend to impact the public

Reflection Paper On Transparency
Two items from this week s readings jumped out at me, and although they may not be the most
important , they were two things that made me pause and reflect on our current task at my school. I
know that much of this class is focusing on quality in higher education, but the parallels with K 12 are
almost constant. I m always looking for takeaways that can help me in my position and this week the
topic of transparency and staying to one s own story resonated with me. In both supplemental
readings, the need for transparency in all areas of the accreditation process was stated as being
necessary. Crow (2009) identifies a list of areas of concerns that need to be addressed for regional
accreditation to be considered viable, valued, and credible. The second area he identifies is, ...all
accrediting agencies will have to raise the veil of confidentiality and secrecy (p.89). There s no
quicker way to create a culture of distrust, than to try and hide something from stakeholders. It is
always better to disclose something negative and deal with the consequences in an open, honest
manner than to try and hide it and have it discovered later. Crow (2009) also states, ...it is conceivable
that greater transparency about the evaluators and their findings will contribute to greater public
confidence in their work (p.95). If everyone is aware of what is taking place and what a school is
working on to become better in the long run, the accreditation process has much more

Personal Statement Of Purpose For Mechanical Engineering
I always wanted to get into the greatest of all Sciences, i.e. engineering. The good thing about
Mechanical Engineering is that all my interests find application. Considered the most versatile field in
engineering, Mechanical Engineering covers range of subjects like design, software, production
analysis, manufacturing to name a few. This field demands high creativity, innovative thinking, very
good hold on Math and most important to think radically. This triggers the pulses and is the very
reason for choosing this as my field of study. My experiences as a student of .... the training, the
projects, the tough targets etc. has brought me very close to realities of life and made me realize that
starting from simple household gadgets to complicated medical equipment and supersonic jets to super
fast computers all are the gifts of Mechanical engineering and technology and I am indeed one of the

want, research fields that are close to my heart, fulfill my zest by spending long drawn hours doing

made in the field of my choice.
A graduate school will help me understand processes and industrial equipment better. It will provide
me a wider definition for the word engineering than what it is today. It will allow me to apply
practically all the concepts that I learn which will prepare me better for working in the industry or for
research. I feel pursuing my Master s at ............. will further enhance my abilities and hone my skills.

Promoting Health Education Unit 20
P1
In this assignment I will be explaining three different approaches to health education. I will also be
giving examples of each approach being used and lastly I will also be explaining the role of the health
educators in these approaches. The three approaches I will be talking about are as follows; social
marketing approach, two way communication and community development approach.
Health education is usually used to give information and advice of the knowledge and skills that the
professionals have gained in their sector in order to change the behaviour that affects health an
example of this could be using social marketing by putting posters up in busses about eating healthy.
Health educators come from a wide range of professions ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This has the advantage of targeting a wide target audience and may be tailored to meet specific
objectives. Another approach that the health educators may use is the mass media to get something in
the public eye the mass media can use many different approaches to promoting health education.
Some of the ways you could promote health education is fear, some campaigns use fear to get the
message across and for it to have effect such as, smoking and the effects such as cancer using the fear
which is smoking could cause cancer maybe a massive eye opener which could eventually led them to
slowly couldn t down how many cigarettes they are smoking which should lead them to eventually

Copyright Of Copyright And Copyright
Copyright policy violations have been a major talking point in the media in recent years. Copyright
concerns largely grew in the early 2000 s due to a popular music sharing program called LimeWire.
LimeWire allowed people to illegally download, or pirate, the music they were interesting in listening
to for free. Limewire launched in 2000 and was shut down in 2010 due to a permanent injunction
issued by a New York based federal court (Gearlog, 2010). This injuction brought copyright
infringement to the forefront of the headlines as the Recording Industry Association of America
(RIAA) attempted to file a lawsuit for $75 trillion. This was settled to $105 million, but they publicity
of such a large lawsuit brought more debate to the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Furthermore, with few exceptions, the Digital Millen[n]ium Copyright Act (DMCA) prevents the
removal of any copy protection methods employed by a media publisher (Dachis, 2012). To
summarize, under no circumstances can you replicate a movie; nor can you use or distribute software
that allows a person to bypass the encryption on anti piracy software. Now that we know what
copyright policy is, we can investigate the reason people choose to pirate content rather than pursue
legal means of obtainment. One of the leading opinions is that piracy is a service problem.
Motherboard writer, Derek Mead, states, According to a new piracy study funded by NBCUniversal, it
appears that a lot of pirates are downloading movies as a matter of convenience (Mead, 2013).
Forbes.com writer, Paul Tassi, supports this theory by stating that [p]iracy is a service problem. Valve
s Gabe Newell said that years ago, touting the success of Steam, his online video game distribution
service. The premise is that while piracy is appealing because it s free, it s also appealing because it s
easy (Tassi, 2014). These statements clearly describe the way in which piracy, to a great extent, is
caused not by people intent on causing harm but people enticed by convenience.
With an understanding about the related laws and why people pirate, we can now discuss how piracy
is currently being contested. There are three primary tools

Dark Knight Sparknotes
I am going to write a film analysis essay for the film The Dark Knight. My chosen essay topic is:
Analyse how visual or sound effects were used to emphasise a theme in the visual or oral text(s). I
need to show how the main themes of showing morality when making decisions and the power held
by the villain are presented in the film through the use of dialogue, camerawork, sound, and editing. I
will refer to the scene when The Joker announces his social experiment and he and Batman have their
final fight, The Ferry Scene, for my specific example. I will also comment on the director, Christopher
Nolan s intentions in order to show my personal insight into the film.

If, however, one of you presses the button, I ll let that boat live. So, who s it going to be: Harvey Dent
s most wanted scumbag collection, or the sweet and innocent civilians? You choose... Oh, and you
might want to decide quickly because the people on the other boat might not be so noble. This is The
Joker s way of giving the passengers an ultimatum. Live and kill, or be killed. His experiment furthers
the effect of his actions as an anarchist on the people of Gotham, as the passengers are left in shock
and have to make a life or death decision in such a small amount of time. The lack of hesitation in his
relaxed voice makes it clear to the audience that this was a well rehearsed and planned announcement.
He had organised this and was then ready to begin to carry out his experiment, in which he expected at
least one boat full of people to die as a result. This showed the power and control he had as Gotham s
villain because in just one statement he was able to terrorise people and leave them with such as
difficult decision to make. All scenarios he had implied to the passengers resulted in at least one ferry
being blown up, while he would remain unaffected by the outcome. As well as creating a feeling of
fear and suspense for the audience, who are watching the scene play out to discover the outcome, it
also makes the viewer question: What is the right and wrong decision to make? What would you do if
it was you in that situation? At the end of the scene,

Donnie Moyer Character Analysis
When it comes to small towns people who haven t lived in one tend to think that they are boring or
bland. However a chat with some of the people who have always lived in a town of less than four
hundred people for their entire lives really paints a new picture. Donnie Moyer has lived outside of
Terril, Iowa his entire life on a farm working for his father until his passing in which he took control
of the property. When we discussed How has the town change since you ve lived here? he responded
with It hasn t change at all it s still the same place I grew up in. Some see this as being bland but in
today s age with all the technological change it is refreshing to see some are happy with their roots.

Moyer. We would then turn to How has living in a small town helped/benefited you? Mrs. Moyer
responded with You knew your neighbor, you could walk around town with no fear, and you watched
out for your neighbors house if they were gone and everybody knew each other s kids. at this point in
after her response it was clear that the sense of security was a large part that contributed to her
decision to remain in this town after marrying Donnie but it begged the next question. Why did you
choose to raise your family in a small town? to which she replied immediately to with We already had
family here and the community had become family as well. Now that may seem to be an easy answer
to give but the sincerity in her voice spoke more than words ever could. We went on to discuss why
she herself believed that most outsiders believe small towns are bland and boring to which she
responded Because to them there is no big nightlife scene. They can t go out every night or weekend
and do something different and they think that s always a bad

  • 2. Glumania-Personal Narrative Essay It all began with a simple phone call one night after dinner. Josh, my grandfather yelled up the stairs, it s for you. It s Jackie, and she sounds angry. As I came downstairs to pick up the phone, I was not happy. I was tired and had looked forward to a nice quiet evening at home, not another pointless police chase leading to me and Jackie being outran by some goons. Thirty minutes later, however, Jackie s white Mustang skrted into our driveway, and Jackie was laying on the horn before the car had come to a full stop. I scurried to get my shoes and jacket, then ran out the front door with all the enthusiasm of a man going to chase after the largest cartel on planet Glumania. Jackie was excited as always even after our continuous failures ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I was surprised by myself to be completely truthful. Tom replied still chuckling since what he had made our car into was hardly believable. After leaving the shop I raced down the almost empty roadways in the middle of the night to meet with Jackie back at our previous location in the field. The look on her face was priceless when she saw me hover up next to her in the Mustang. Hop in and let s go catch these guys. I yelled to Jackie. She got in and had so many questions to ask which is as expected from her. We flew off in the direction we last saw the space car speed off towards. There was no sight of where the car possibly went, but we continued going farther and farther out into what appeared to be nowhere. The cool calm air rushed through my hair as we continued or journey, it was silent except for the noise of the humming engine. We decided to delay our pursuit since we had been up all night and find a place to park the Mustang so we could get some sleep. As I was drifting off into what would have been a peaceful sleep the roar of an engine in the distance woke me up. Headlights! I whispered as loudly as I could to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Education Reform For The United States Education in America started with the Pilgrims in the early 1600 s. The first public school was opened in 1635 in Boston Massachusetts. In 1642, Massachusetts started an education reform that stated Any child not properly educated would apprentice to a trade . This education reform was created because they believed it was important for children and citizens to be able to read the laws of the land. This was the first law that required children to be education. If they were not properly educated they would be moved from their home to a better fit environment where they would be able to learn. Virginia then followed with a similar law in 1646. In 1647 Massachusetts founded an act called Old Deluder Satan Act . This act required towns of more than fifty families to hire a teacher for reading and writing. Towns of more than a hundred families had to establish a grammar school which served as college preparation. Dame schools taught reading and writing to females because this was all they were expected to learn so that they would not have the same intellect as men. Their classes were held in the teacher s kitchen who continued her chores while the students did their lessons. At the beginning of the 20th century, parents and public schools began demanding more practical and useful curriculums. Growing up with my mom as a teacher I know how much time they spend working and helping their students learn and achieve so many things and how little they receive back in ... • 4. Ariana Grande s Song You Don T Know Me Art can be expressed in many different forms. Such as paintings, literature, dance, photography, and music. The purpose of art is to convey stories to an audience. An example of this would be Ariana Grande s song, You Don t Know Me . In this song, Ariana is telling the story of how people are judging her based off of what is said about her in the media, instead of getting to know her for themselves. Art can be interpreted in different mediums. I decided to use the different principles and elements of art such as emphasis, focal point, color, variety, pattern, rhythm, positive shapes, and contrast in order to recreate the story that Ariana is singing about in her song. In my composition, I am telling the story of a two girls. First, I drew ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In my piece, I used the repetition of the shapes of lines and colors to create a pattern. This pattern of alternating colors created an alternating rhythm in my artwork. I received inspiration for this rhythm from the alternating rhythm in the song. Grande s Song starts off with heavy bass and is loud, but transitions into a softer and slower rhythm. Throughout the song they rotate. In my composition, I recreated this alternating rhythm by the way I had my lines start from the bottom corner on the right side, but on the opposite side I started my lines from the top corner. The alternating colors and lines on both sides create their own rhythms which coexist to form a complex, alternating rhythm in the design. Using the colored lines I made a positive shape inside of my artwork. The outline of my figure s body is the positive shape because it appears to be in the front of the composition. I made the girl a positive shape because instead of coloring her in I left her colorless. The figure also creates a contrast in my artwork. The plain, whiteness of the figure creates a contrast with the colorful lines next to it. In conclusion, I used the different principles and elements of art to convey the story from Ariana Grande s song, You Don t Know Me . Using emphasis, focal point, color, variety, pattern, rhythm, positive shapes, and contrast to communicate the theme of the story is saying that people ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Ghazali Conditional Statement Al Ghazali begins his discussion of theodicy with a conditional statement that will frame the rest of his one hundred line discussion contained in his Ihya text. This conditional statement has as its antecedent a series of eight hypotheticals which are aimed at creating a hypothetical multitude of immensely knowledgeable and wise creatures. The antecedent contains the following hypotheticals: all creatures being as intelligent and knowledgeable as the most intelligent and knowledgeable human, God giving each creature the maximum knowledge and wisdom that their souls can handle, God then giving each creature the combined knowledge of all creatures, God revealing to each creature the consequences of things, God teaching each creature the mysteries of the transcendent world, God teaching each creature about divine favor, God making each creature aware of final punishments, God making each creature aware of good and evil and of benefit and harm. All of these components of the antecedent serve to set up a scenario in which there exists a multitude of extremely wise and knowledgeable creatures. These components are presented in lines one through sixteen of the passage quoted by Ormsby on his pages 38 41 of Theodicy in Islamic Thought. If the conditions of the antecedent were met, says Al Ghazali, then another conditional claim would be the case. This second conditional claim, which is the consequent of the first conditional claim and is contained in lines sixteen through nineteen, has as its antecedent God asking all of the now hyper wise and hyper knowledgeable creatures to work together in creating the best possible arrangement of this world and of the transcendent world. If God asked this of the creatures in the hypothetical, Al Ghazali says in lines nineteen through twenty four that the creatures would produce an arrangement that is exactly identical to the way in which God has arranged His creation as it truly is. Al Ghazali, in lines twenty four through twenty seven goes so far as to say that the product would not have subtracted or added as little as a gnat s wing and that it would not have altered the position of a single particle of dust. • 11. How Did The Rise And Spread Of Islam Islam is one of the oldest and the second largest religions today, coming second to Christianity. The religion is believed to derive mostly from the teachings of the prophet Muhammad. He was also believed to be the last prophet. Islam began in about 600 AD, around the time Muhammad was instructed to teach the word of God in Mecca. When Muhammad was about forty years of age, he began having visions and would also hear voices. Often enough, he would find clarity by meditating in a cave at Mount Hira (near Mecca). One day as he was meditating, he saw a light and felt sequestered. It was the Archangel Gabriel speaking to him, revealing the first verse. This verse was the first of many that would later become the basis of the Quran. During the pre Islamic Arabian Peninsula, it was believed that there were multiple Gods but these revelations contradicted that belief; proving that there existed only one God. Like other prophets, Muhammad was chosen to be the messenger of the word of God. Due to the animosity he received, Muhammad left Mecca and went to Medina. While there, he would still receive divine revelations and began to build an expanding community full of supporters and followers of the new faith. After years of violence due to the conflicting religions, Mecca surrendered. Muhammad and his followers returned to Mecca after that and destroyed the pagan idols while spreading the new faith and belief in one God. After the holy Qur an, the sayings of the Prophet ... • 12. Analysis Of The North American Market Richardson In the North American market Richardson s has a strength in dominating particular regions such as Kansas, Texas and Oklahoma where they receive 75% of their companies sales. This allows them to have lower shipping costs and possibly lower advertising costs in the areas because they have regular customers who are returning to buy items because Richardson s strong brand equity can bring trust and low searching costs. Having most of their sales in a particular region is also a disadvantage for the company because if something were to happen in that region that slowed down income for the farmers in the area (drought or disaster) Richardson s sales would be in trouble. This is because the company relies on a particular region for sales and the company is not well diversified within other regions of the United States, which creates risk within such a specific market. Richardson Manufacturing has seen a cumulative increase in net sales of 11% (Sheet 1, L4) within the domestic market which is great because it shows their sales have increased over the past 4 years. At the same time, there is a lot of volatility in the net sales as the growth percentage goes fro 2% to 19% and eventually back to only 7% growth. This lack of consistent growth may mean a market that is changing or relying too much on external factors and so Richardson s team should be aware of the variability. Introduction Of Louis Vuitton Malletier Louis Vuitton Malletier, most commonly referred to as Louis Vuitton, was established in 1854 by Louis Vuitton, who pursued his impetuous passion for the fashion industry by constructing his own luxury fashion retail company. Louis Vuitton, who was only 10 when his mother passed away, decided to leave his home at the age of 13, alone and on foot, bound for Paris. He traveled for more than two years, taking odd jobs to feed himself along the way and staying wherever he could find shelter, as he walked the 292 mile trek from his native Anchay to Paris. He arrived in 1837, at the age of 16. After arriving, Louis noticed the wide spread poverty, but what really peaked his interest was how Paris was being transformed by the industrial revolution. Vuitton met a successful box maker and packer named Monsieur Marechal, who took Louis on as an apprentice to his craft. In 19th century Europe, box making and packing was a highly respectable and urbane craft. A box maker and packer custom made all boxes to fit the goods they stored and they personally loaded and unloaded the boxes. One of the research projects that occurred in that location is the investigation of cortical bone loss and fracture patterns in the Neolithic community using radiogrammetry. The main focus of this study is an examination of the widely used calculation that expresses second metacarpal cortical bone values, followed by an examination of age and sex related patterns of cortical bone loss and skeletal fragility fracture in a Neolithic archaeological skeletal sample from Çatalhöyük, Turkey. While it is argued that the influence of bone/body size is removed from MWI and CTI and can be demonstrated algebraically, statistically and graphically, analogous CI values in this analysis did not differ noticeably or influence statistical outcomes. We do suggest however, that the relationship between size variables and measurement variables are explored prior to the application of ratios. Bone quantity and quality of the human skeleton is the cumulative product of health, diet and nutrition, physical activity and lifestyle over the life course. Further, while nutrition plays a key role in skeletal growth and maintenance during all developmental stages, diet and nutrition are intricately woven with other biological, social, and cultural influences on the skeleton. Bone tissue is a dynamic medium that is capable of recording many life history events, allowing us to reconstruct some of the key influences on bone loss and fragility in past populations. While our work, on cortical bone loss at Çatalhöyük remains preliminary, and will benefit with the addition of biomechanical analyses in other long bones of the skeleton, the patterns revealed in this study do provide some insight on bone health across different life stages, particularly in those individuals from the later Neolithic phases of mound occupation. The movement grew out of the earlier Temperance Movement, which steadily grew in popularity during the mind 19th century. There are four reasons why prohibition ultimately failed in Canada: (1) it was not really enforced; (2) it was not truly effective; (3) a shift in popular thought; (4) and loss of public support. (Idea of Provinces + order) In the end, the government would change its stance from one of illegality to control and regulation. The city of Moncton used the CTA to issue prohibitory law concerning alcohol in 1879. At this time, like elsewhere in New Brunswick, liquor trade was still inexistence. In Moncton s case, though the bureaucrats were accused of allowing the trade to occur so that they could make money, for the city and maybe for themselves, off the fines for liquor violations. Hydrogen as an Option for Fuel With gas prices escalating and fossil fuels becoming limited, scientists have been researching an alternative fuel source that will be more abundant and cost efficient. Issues with our current fuel source include the pollution that is emitted in our air and water sources and the fact that fossil fuels are becoming scarce. One alternative to gasoline is the use of hydrogen as a fuel source. With hydrogen as a fuel source pollution will be in decline, it has become increasingly more abundant than fossil fuels through extracting hydrogen from various sources, and is domestically produced. There are many pros to using hydrogen as an alternative fuel source; namely, its abundance, its low pollution, and the fact that it is being researched and extracted domestically. Hydrogen is one of the most abundant elements on earth and can be found in water, hydrocarbons and other organic matter. Because of hydrogen being so abundant scientists are able to extract it from a variety of sources, therefore, the problem with hydrogen as a fuel source is how to exactly make hydrogen an efficient fuel source. Currently hydrogen is extracted from natural gas, but this releases the greenhouse gas CO2 and uses up a limited resource. This does not relieve our current issues with using up fossil fuels, just displaces them. Recent research has suggested a means of how to resolve both of these problems. Understanding that nature has it s living properties that let it thrive among its resources allows for people to grasp the complexities that come about when construction companies destroy the environment in which they work. Plumwood uses the term dualism to refer to the sharp distinction between two classes of individuals. There is the high class, which is considered as the One. In contrast, the other side of the division consists of individuals that are classified as lower and are subordinates to the One as Others. Rather than measuring material gains and losses like score keeping, match fixing is based on three categories: mind sets, salient events, and social pressures. Each category produces biases that affect perceptions of victory and defeat (Johnson and Tierney, pg. 51) For example, expectations whether they are high or low tend to impact the public s mind set during ... • 41. Reflection Paper On Transparency Two items from this week s readings jumped out at me, and although they may not be the most important , they were two things that made me pause and reflect on our current task at my school. I know that much of this class is focusing on quality in higher education, but the parallels with K 12 are almost constant. I m always looking for takeaways that can help me in my position and this week the topic of transparency and staying to one s own story resonated with me. In both supplemental readings, the need for transparency in all areas of the accreditation process was stated as being necessary. Crow (2009) identifies a list of areas of concerns that need to be addressed for regional accreditation to be considered viable, valued, and credible. The second area he identifies is, ...all accrediting agencies will have to raise the veil of confidentiality and secrecy (p.89). There s no quicker way to create a culture of distrust, than to try and hide something from stakeholders. It is always better to disclose something negative and deal with the consequences in an open, honest manner than to try and hide it and have it discovered later. Crow (2009) also states, ...it is conceivable that greater transparency about the evaluators and their findings will contribute to greater public confidence in their work (p.95). If everyone is aware of what is taking place and what a school is working on to become better in the long run, the accreditation process has much more ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 43. Promoting Health Education Unit 20 P1 In this assignment I will be explaining three different approaches to health education. I will also be giving examples of each approach being used and lastly I will also be explaining the role of the health educators in these approaches. The three approaches I will be talking about are as follows; social marketing approach, two way communication and community development approach. Health education is usually used to give information and advice of the knowledge and skills that the professionals have gained in their sector in order to change the behaviour that affects health an example of this could be using social marketing by putting posters up in busses about eating healthy. Health educators come from a wide range of professions ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 44. Copyright Of Copyright And Copyright Copyright policy violations have been a major talking point in the media in recent years. Copyright concerns largely grew in the early 2000 s due to a popular music sharing program called LimeWire. LimeWire allowed people to illegally download, or pirate, the music they were interesting in listening to for free. Limewire launched in 2000 and was shut down in 2010 due to a permanent injunction issued by a New York based federal court (Gearlog, 2010). This injuction brought copyright infringement to the forefront of the headlines as the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) attempted to file a lawsuit for $75 trillion. This was settled to $105 million, but they publicity of such a large lawsuit brought more debate to the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Furthermore, with few exceptions, the Digital Millen[n]ium Copyright Act (DMCA) prevents the removal of any copy protection methods employed by a media publisher (Dachis, 2012). To summarize, under no circumstances can you replicate a movie; nor can you use or distribute software that allows a person to bypass the encryption on anti piracy software. Now that we know what copyright policy is, we can investigate the reason people choose to pirate content rather than pursue legal means of obtainment. One of the leading opinions is that piracy is a service problem. Motherboard writer, Derek Mead, states, According to a new piracy study funded by NBCUniversal, it appears that a lot of pirates are downloading movies as a matter of convenience (Mead, 2013). Forbes.com writer, Paul Tassi, supports this theory by stating that [p]iracy is a service problem. Valve s Gabe Newell said that years ago, touting the success of Steam, his online video game distribution service. The premise is that while piracy is appealing because it s free, it s also appealing because it s easy (Tassi, 2014). These statements clearly describe the way in which piracy, to a great extent, is caused not by people intent on causing harm but people enticed by convenience. With an understanding about the related laws and why people pirate, we can now discuss how piracy is currently being contested. There are three primary tools ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 45. Dark Knight Sparknotes I am going to write a film analysis essay for the film The Dark Knight. My chosen essay topic is: Analyse how visual or sound effects were used to emphasise a theme in the visual or oral text(s). I need to show how the main themes of showing morality when making decisions and the power held by the villain are presented in the film through the use of dialogue, camerawork, sound, and editing. I will refer to the scene when The Joker announces his social experiment and he and Batman have their final fight, The Ferry Scene, for my specific example. I will also comment on the director, Christopher Nolan s intentions in order to show my personal insight into the film. Christopher Nolan s 2008 film The Dark Knight tells the thrilling tale of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If, however, one of you presses the button, I ll let that boat live. So, who s it going to be: Harvey Dent s most wanted scumbag collection, or the sweet and innocent civilians? You choose... Oh, and you might want to decide quickly because the people on the other boat might not be so noble. This is The Joker s way of giving the passengers an ultimatum. Live and kill, or be killed. His experiment furthers the effect of his actions as an anarchist on the people of Gotham, as the passengers are left in shock and have to make a life or death decision in such a small amount of time. The lack of hesitation in his relaxed voice makes it clear to the audience that this was a well rehearsed and planned announcement. He had organised this and was then ready to begin to carry out his experiment, in which he expected at least one boat full of people to die as a result. This showed the power and control he had as Gotham s villain because in just one statement he was able to terrorise people and leave them with such as difficult decision to make. All scenarios he had implied to the passengers resulted in at least one ferry being blown up, while he would remain unaffected by the outcome. As well as creating a feeling of fear and suspense for the audience, who are watching the scene play out to discover the outcome, it also makes the viewer question: What is the right and wrong decision to make? What would you do if it was you in that situation? At the end of the scene, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 46. Donnie Moyer Character Analysis When it comes to small towns people who haven t lived in one tend to think that they are boring or bland. Donnie Moyer has lived outside of Terril, Iowa his entire life on a farm working for his father until his passing in which he took control of the property. When we discussed How has the town change since you ve lived here? he responded with It hasn t change at all it s still the same place I grew up in. Why did you choose to raise your family in a small town? to which she replied immediately to with We already had family here and the community had become family as well.
