Pros And Cons Of Nuclear Fission
How Nuclear Fission produces Nuclear Bombs and Energy
KABOOOOM! That was the sound of the two atomic bombs the United States of America dropped on
the cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki during World War 2. These two bombs were the main reason the
Japanese surrendered, which led to the end of the war. The bomb at Hiroshima had a death toll of
135,000 and Nagasaki s death toll was 64,000 ( The Atomic Bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki ).
So how are these destructive bombs made? They are made by nuclear fission. Nuclear fission is when
an atom splits into two parts, either through natural decay of when instigated within a lab and it
produces energy. The natural decay is done through beta decay and blasting neutrons at the nuclear of
the atom is what splits the atom. Nuclear fission has changed the world today, it is used to create
nuclear bombs and conduct electricity in power plants, and has ... Show more content on

Nuclear power also has a lot fewer greenhouse emissions. It has been determined that the amount of
greenhouse gases have decreased by almost half because of the prevalence in the utilization of nuclear
power. Nuclear energy has the least effect on nature since it doesn t discharge any gasses like methane
and carbon dioxide, which are the primary greenhouse gasses ( Pros and Cons of Nuclear Energy. ).
So, nuclear power is the cheapest source of electricity and produces the smallest amount of pollution
than any other source of energy. But there s even more pros about nuclear energy. It is the most
reliable source of energy. Solar energy is only good in sunny places, wind energy is only good in
windy places, geothermal energy can only conduct electricity where hot spots are located, and
hydroelectric energy is produced by water turning turbines that produce electricity. Nuclear energy can
be conducted anywhere as long as there is enough space for the power plant to be

Fields SNC was confident while presenting the brief. He did not provide the purpose during the

appropriate location where his FT could hear him and he would be able to assist as necessary;
however, he was timid with little confidence or command presence. Instead of ordering his FT

Analysis Of Alan Ginsberg s Howl
Poetry has a special ability to drive in a main theme or point in the same way that a powerful image
can. It does this through careful selection and use of the language, ensuring the words create an image
in the minds of the reader that is even stronger than the words themselves. Like a powerful image,
poetry can transfer a sense of meaning directly to the subconscious brain without the conscious mind
realizing it. By paying special attention to how this is done within the poem, analyzing the words used
and how they are put together, the meaning of the poem moves back into the conscious mind and can
relate profound meaning regarding the human condition or the state of society. In his poem HOWL ,
Alan Ginsberg attempts to comment on the state of modern society and its effects on the best minds
and angel headed hipsters as the hipsters become crushed under a force collectively termed Moloch
from which the only escape is madness. Ginsberg introduces the protagonists of his story in Part I of
the poem. They are the best minds and angel headed hipsters of his generation, but their lives are a
wreck, their brilliance is wasted, their angel heads are severely tarnished. Written from the point of
view of an insider, the section offers a sympathetic tone to the realistic portrayal. Ginsberg uses a form
he invented called long line verse to offer these descriptions which are really more like mini vignettes
of their lives and organizes them on a fixed base. In this part of

Poem Analysis Of A Story By Li-Young Lee
The relationship between father and son changes over time, and molds along with the people in
encapsulates. As in real life, the father and son who inhabit Li Young Lee s poem A Story experience
sudden changes within their relationship as the time passes on. The son s cries for a story that slowly
change into adult conversations throughout the poem indicate that with maturity and age comes both
understanding and hostility.
The contrast between the son s first words with his father and his later conversation emphasizes how
rapidly he is growing up. At first, the son lovingly exclaims, not the same story baba, a new one .
However, towards the end, the son s affectionate speech turns angry, as he shouts, are you a god, the
man that screams? ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The son at first calls his father baba , a symbol of both mutual respect and a childlike viewpoint of his
father, suggesting he looks up to him as a person. However, he later mockingly calls him a god ,
making fun of his so called authority as his father. Then, right at the end of the poem, he reverts back
to his childish ways, calling him baba once more, even begging him to please read him another story.
This shift from respect, to anger, then back to respect represents the circular nature of growing up.
While one learns to rebel as they get older, their anger and hostility is replaced with that same wonder
and admiration as there existed in the beginning. Even though the son loses respect for his father, he is
able to gain it back through his life experience in growing up, furthering the fact that with maturation
comes both positive and negative reverberations hand in hand.
Family relations are complex, but none may be as difficult to navigate as the bond that exists between
a father and his son. Even though the son becomes angry and displeased with his father, he is always
able to come back to him, revealing the cyclic nature and the impacts of

things or people have inconsistencies, or when people do not keep up their end of an agreement. They
love being apart of organized groups such as government, schools, the military, and churches because
they all have a set way of doing things and do not sway in their beliefs. Their social skills are excellent
because they are precise and to the point. Feelings are something that ISTJ s have a hard time

What Makes a Community Worth Gaming for
Dear friends and students of UTA, I humbly come to you with a simple argument, one that is close to
my heart. Though it may sound trivial, the argument has been raging on for three decades, and has
grown to a nation wide debate. The question: is there such thing as a gaming community? Again, the
question may sound inconsequential, but consider this fellow Mavericks, what makes a community? Is
it just a group of people meeting and having a good time? Or is it more? Is something like gaming
able to unite people from all across the world? Admittedly, the argument is rather close to my heart. I
have been interested games since the age of five. I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In terms of organization, it is perhaps not as strong as a community based upon physical land, but
what it lacks in town hall meetings and elections, it makes up in conventions and LAN tournaments.
The gaming community boasts large gaming conventions such as PAX, and E3, where thousands of
gamers meet and socialize while playing the newest games. LAN is Local Area Network, which is
used to hold massive tournaments where many can pit themselves against other gamers. These
Colosseums are where the celebrities of the gaming world are born, rising from the bodies of the
hundreds they had slain to win. There is no law keeping force, or governing body to be sure, but it is
still a community that can have an impact on the world. The gaming community is not a legitimate
community. It is not legitimate due to its lack of due to its lack of organization. It may claim to be
united but there is little evidence to prove it. The community is too broken; there is division with
consoles, whether an Xbox or a PC is better. There is division on the genre of games such as shooting
games, role playing games and puzzle games. The communities are too far apart to be a single gaming
community. Take a look at the most played game in the world, League of Legends . It has little to no
tie with the popular fighting game genre, and it is at war with people that play Heroes of Newerth.
Nasty internet quarrels, forum raids and other attacks have gone between the two communities as

Easter Island Theory
The articles by Keegan and Diamond describe the mystery of Easter Island and how the society and
people disappeared. Easter Island located off the coast of Chile in South America. The theory that best
explains both articles are cultural theory. The cultural theory is the tradition and norms in society
affects the way you make decisions (Lim, 2016). Cultural theory traps people to think a specific way,
which is called the webs of significance. Culture must be learned and constantly reproduced. Culture
is usually changed with variations from what is taught and learned (Lim, 2016). In the Diamond

The Social Fabric Of Late Eighteenth- And Early Nineteenth...
Jane Austen s novel is principally concerned with the social fabric of late eighteenth and early
nineteenth century England, a patriarchal society in which men held the economic and social power. In
an often satirical portrait of the men and women attempting to gain a livelihood, Austen ironically
points out faults in the system, raising questions about the values of English society and the power
structure of the country. The novel is also engaged in an ideological debate that drives its plot and
defines the essence of its main character. The precise nature of this balance is not necessarily clear,
and despite what seems to be a happy marriage, it may not be entirely possible to reconcile Elizabeth s
independence and naturalness ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

they have conflicting thoughts about the arrival of the rich neighbours. Mr. Bennet thinks nothing of it,
and has no new thoughts about the arrival of Bingley and Darcy. Mrs. Bennet sees flashing lights. She
views it as the perfect chance to automatically place a few of her five daughters into the rich

wants her husband to go and make a greeting to the new crowd. Her plans are to get in contact with
them and make aware her five bachelor daughters. Mrs. Bennet encourages her daughter, Jane, to set

When Jane is invited to meet with Mr. Bingley and his sister, Mrs. Bennet suggests that she go by

Cinematic Techniques In The Dressmaker
The Dressmaker has many similar elements and features to spaghetti westerns. How has the director
used this style to engage a modern audience? By Tallulah Stacey Bateman The Dressmaker is a movie
based on the book written by Rosalie Ham. It tells the story of a woman named Tilly determined to
figure out the mysteries of her past. The classic spaghetti westerns have many things in common with
The Dressmaker . Some similar cinematic techniques include camera angles and shots, setting,
costuming and themes. These techniques were captured by the director to engage the modern
audience. Camera angles and shots are essential technique for the director to draw meaning to the

Some themes that are included are justice and love. In Lone Ranger (Directed by Stuart Heisler), it is
seen that a hero dubbed the Lone Ranger, a western version of Robin Hood, is depicted as a saviour of
the innocent. When he is enlisted to unknowingly help the bad guys Lone Ranger decides to help the
Indian Tribal people recover their lands. In The Dressmaker , Tilly seeks a personal injustice that
happened to herself when she was blamed for the murder of her half brother, Stewart, when in truth he
killed himself by mistake. Here we can see that both themes of injustice are battled by each of the
protagonist s own moral code and abilities. Having a faulted yet lovable protagonist can make the
modern audience want to support them in their adventures and trials, and also able to relate to the
character s situations. Love is another key theme in spaghetti westerns with the classic idea of damsels
in distress . Having this stereotype makes the audience believe that the hero and their damsel are
meant to be. When Teddy dies, it gives Tilly the courage to be fearless towards the curses she
proclaims to

Examples Of Sexism In Metropolis
Science fiction s presence in film is nearly as old as film itself. With humble beginnings, film pioneers
such as the French George Méliès set the genre in motion. At first, simple pastiches to Jules Verne
pervaded, whether it be adventurous astronauts on a trip to the moon or the maiden voyage of a (then)
futuristic airship. Then, come the German avant garde, the expressionist masterpiece Metropolis
proved that the science fiction film could go beyond the trivial and occupy a place of legitimate
artistic worth. Metropolis also marks the first feature length film to feature a robot though the word is
never used. Instead, Maria is a Maschinenmensch, a machine human, a being capable of labor and
beauty, even of sexual enticement, but devoid ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She has breasts, sex appeal, she dances, she winks her smoky eye. Other robots in film, like the
Terminator, portray what are perceived as definitively masculine characteristics. Roy Schwartzman, in
writing for Studies in Popular Culture, calls this trend of sexualizing what should be sex less robots
engenderneering. (75) In reality, robots, defined as machines that operate autonomously, have no need
for sexual characteristics. Real robots have no gender characteristics because, as of now, unlike in
film, the robot s existence is limited to strictly industrial and scientific applications. Should robots hit
the mainstream and enter our homes as maids or nannies (à la Rosie in The Jetsons), their designs may
incorporate more markedly human qualities. In order for consumers to feel more comfortable around
their new robot friends, they may give them names and choose to gender the personality that is
programmed into them. (Schwartzman 83) Maria in Metropolis has no need for gender; she is only a
simulated she and, within her mechanical core, lacks desire, spirit, empathy, love, malice, etc. Maria
tells us that in the 1920s, robots were still being seen as mechanical humans that require a personality
and gender identity, despite robots in reality having nothing at all with their human creators. But the
more autonomous machines become, the greater the need for talking about them in anthropological
terms. Jump forward 40 years in film history to 1968 to look at another film featuring artificial
intelligence. 2001: A Space Odyssey, after all, is about evolution. Filmmaker Stanley Kubrick and
famous science fiction author Arthur C. Clarke wrote the screenplay to 2001 jointly (as well as the
novelization) with human evolution in mind and, naturally, artifical intelligence comes into

Why I Am N Ē
Am nē zha The sun was ascending so fast on the horizon when Aika and I blundered through the
market as we way back from jogging on the Kuala Lumpur street. The aroma of coffee permeated the
market s air. As we were walking, I stopped after identifying some fascinating small portrait sneaking
at the corner of a chair. Wait, I need to see something, I beamed to Aika. She whipped her head and
when I looked, shooting one last glance toward her, she shooed me with her right hand in the air.
Then, she indicated she was going to grab some cappuccino from Starbuck located in the middle of
the street. I gave her the signal and diverted my attention on the miniature. I edged slowly into the
chair and I crouched down to pick the portrait, to get a better look. My eyes irresistibly draw to the
crack at the center of the portrait. I put it back, with my brown eyes lit up at the price tag, who had
introduced into shrinking cost. I walked away from the stall and as I rambled down the street to rejoin
Aika. I saw a diary located on the sidewalk. It was bounded by brown paper, twine wrapped around it
and a dusty plastic flower at the center. I took a step to pick it up on the highest shelf. Then my heart
began to hammer in my ribcage, as I slid the flower on the right side, eyes widened to the name

Marjane Satrapi claims that her story is about the coming of age, not for either gender, but for all

interview, further hinting that feminism is a very important value for Marjane. It is human nature to do
what is best for oneself. It is human nature to protect the rights of one s own kind. It is Marjane s

particularly vulgar, and give off a very disgusting vibe, but nonetheless it is a loss for females

less grotesque instance of objectification is when the Satrapis maid talks about her son experiencing

These elements are what evolved into the horror of contemporary times. Horror is unique in the
literature genre due to the forms that fear can take. Fear in the horror genre comes from all sources,
whether it is the way the story is approached, the way the story is told, the way the story is shown, or
countless others. Above all other aspects of horror, though, the most iconic form that fear takes in the

This is in part due to Bram Stoker s work, Dracula. Throughout this novel, the vampires showcase a
variety of abilities that highlight their lack of humanity. The vampires of this novel are unable to cast a
shadow or appear in mirrors. This shows that they no longer bear some of the defining features of
humanity through their lack of substance in reality. These vampires do not leave a mark on the world
they interact with like humans do (Miller). The vampires are able to shift into an animal or element
form. This highlights how the normal laws of man no longer apply to them. Instead they are able to
shift their state over into other aspects of the physical world (Miller). The novel also provide several
limitations to the powers of the vampire that usually involve religious symbolism such as purifying
substances like holy water or running water having an adverse effect on vampires (Miller). Vampire in
this novel must stay on the soil of their homeland as well. This shows that the power they gain from
their transformation leaves them tethered and chained to one spot. This seems like an apt metaphor for
temptation keeping us chained to our Earthly desires (Miller). The various abilities of the vampires in
this novel are ways to highlight how they contrasted with the common morals at the time of the novel

The Importance Of Critical Pedagogy In Teaching
Introduction
Critical pedagogy entails a teaching method motivated through critical hypothesis along with different
drastic philosophies that aims at aiding students inquire and experiment speculated domination
alongside underpinning the dogmas and practices assumed to rule. It can also be defined as a postulate
and attempts of aiding students attain critical awareness. Besides, the writing of critical pedagogy
remains exceptionally expansive in fact and involves thick information. Truth be told, the political
point of view of critical pedagogy regarding the educational programs provides a lot in making
bounteous grants in the field. Furthermore, as the same number of creators see, basic instructional
method does not have an arrangement of unmistakable standards that builds the way toward setting an
integrated meaning on its premises quite difficult. All the same, the execution of parts regarding
critical pedagogy within the classroom environment can have vast scale outputs in the showing
procedure overall. Thus, it stands imperative to offer a short examination of the writing on basic
teaching method, a scrutiny of its centre standards as well as an examination of the critique
coordinated contrary to its suppositions.
Moreover, critical pedagogy has its underlying foundations in Paulo Freire, an individual broadly
thought as the inaugural theorist of basic teaching method (Freire Slover, 1983). Despite the fact that
initially Freire devoted his endeavours on matters

The Origin Of The Indian Caste System In India
The government structure in India began with the development of the Caste System. The caste system
in India is an important part of ancient Hindu tradition. The purpose of the caste system is to divide
Hindu of India into different social classes; especially, the lowest caste was disregarded by the other
classes. With the opposed thinking, Dr. Ambedkar and Gandhiji had the revolution to fight the Indian
Caste System about untouched ability. Christophe S. Queen wrote a review of the article Dr.
Ambedkar and Untouchability: Fighting the Indian Caste System in order to quote the evolution of Dr.
Ambedkar. Beyond that, there is some information about Indian Caste System. The origin of the
Indian caste system is related to the age of the Vedas. According to one long held theory about the
origins of South Asia s caste system, Aryans from central Asia invaded South Asia and introduced the
caste system as a means of controlling the local population. Also, many believe that all human
originated from Brahma the Hindu God of creation.
According to Wikipedia, the caste system in India is the paradigmatic ethnographic example of caste.
It has its origin in the early Vedic times, and then it was in existence in the form of Varna system
which divided the society into four main classes. Four main classes were decided by birth. The head of
the system was the Brahmins who were priestly people. They were the literate group and were alone
empowered to study the Vedas and worships Gods.

Difference Between Murder And Second Degree Murder
First degree murder is defined as the killing of someone which is deliberate and premeditated.
Premeditated means to plan the killing such as waiting for the person to return home to kill them or to
poison them.
The difference between first degree murder and second degree murder is very simple. First degree
murder is a planned killing. For instants, Victoria comes home and finds her husband in bed with
Shelly. A few days later, Victoria breaks into Shelly house and stabs her to death for sleeping with her
husband. Victoria started to plan Shelly s murder once she walked on her husband cheating on her
with Shelly. Second degree murder, however, is different. An intentional killing that is not

Business Controlled Assessment At Afro Caribbean Hair Styles
Business Controlled Assessment
For my controlled assessment I have investigated an entrepreneur named, Asaya Marks, who owns a
small multi purpose business called Asaya Hardware and Asaya Beauty Box which changed on July
5th 2014 from Causeway £ Saver. The business is both a hardware store and a beauty salon, the beauty
salon specialising in Afro Caribbean hair styles. For the controlled assessment I will be doing task 3,
which states: Which of the qualities shown by an entrepreneur has most contributed to the success of
their business?
In response to this task I found a mixture of desk and field research; desk research expressing various
opinions of entrepreneurial skills, field research being questionnaires and feedback forms expressing
the entrepreneur, the staff and some customer s views.
From Appendix 1 I have become more aware of the importance of planning within a business it allows
an entrepreneur to decide their desired outcome for the business. Planning with consistency is also
important (Appendix 4) as it leads to a more success and stability for the business; Asaya Marks does
this by using forecasts often when planning which may lead to a more organised method of planning.
Asaya Marks business benefits from planning as she can be more prepared for circumstances such as
an increase in supply and demand in which she could have already planned a way to purchase goods
from a different seller at short notice.

Semiotic Analysis of True Detective
Semiotic Analysis of True Detective In 1951, the first television crime drama series, Dragnet
significantly influenced our American culture. According to the New Oxford American Dictionary, the
term dragnet is a symbol, for, a system of coordinated measures used to apprehend criminals or
suspects. Most crime drama series solve a different case each episode. Although, in current pop culture
crime dramas focus on one particular crime, throughout an entire season. Similar, to the show
Homeland, the HBO crime drama True Detective adds a twist on the conventional series. The show
depicts a subject matter that has affected modern society as a whole. Southern Louisiana police
detectives Rust Cohle and Marty Hart, in 2012, are asked to revisit their solving of a ritualistic murder
case from 1995. The murder of a former student of the Light of the Way Christian Academy lays the
foundation, for detective Cohle s doubts about the true design of religion. The True Detective storyline
portrays the utilization of religion, education, and politics, by men in power who manipulate and
control young innocent children. Questioning the validity of religion within a crime drama series is
relative to modern society. The conspiracy within the Catholic Church to suppress hundreds of child
molestations committed, by Catholic priests is a pertinent sign represented in True Detective .
Southern Louisiana is located in the heart of the American Bible belt, where religion is not a choice,
but a

The Effects of Political Parties on a Democracy Essay...
The Effects of Political Parties on a Democracy
There are indeed several aspects in the composition of political parties that threaten democracy in the
UK, whilst other aspects may promote democracy. Careful analysis must be done in order to establish
to what extent either is true.
On the one hand, it may be argued that parties in fact promote democracy for a variety of reasons.
Firstly, they assist the electorate by offering them a coherent choice, allowing people to vote

In 1997, New Labour capitalised on the number of women who were elected, establishing the
impression that the party is female friendly . The Conservative party is also aiming to recruit more
women and ethnic minority candidates in time for the upcoming general election in May 2005. It has
also given higher platforms to those women already elected: Several years ago, Theresa May was
appointed as party chairman. Not only by modernising themselves to represent current populations in
Britain, parties also modernise themselves by generating new ideas for changing times. The labour
party is the most famous for adapting its policies and ideology. Labour changed its name to New
Labour under the leadership of Tony Blair in 1997, to reflect these radical changes. At this time
Labour chose to adapt its policies, and lose a lot of its socialist values. Under Old Labour state
ownership was held under high regard. But after Thatcher s privatisation of state businesses, Labour
acknowledged that it would be dangerous to radically reform businesses and bring them back under
state ownership, thus they modernised their policies adapting them to the New Britain, by sticking to
privatisation which had been warmly received. This promotes democracy, as policies are adapted to
suit the electorate, rather than parties imposing unwanted, outdated ideologies upon its

Isolation In Stephanie Meyer s Twilight
Deeper Into the Twilight
Modern vampire interpretations are supposed to be relatable or desired, they are no longer supposed to
be feared. Stephanie Meyer s book series Twilight is one of the most popular teenage vampire
interpretations. The vampire characters within the movie are metaphors for the teenager.
It is common for teenagers to feel isolated from their surroundings and the people around them. The
Cullen s in the movie are automatically isolated from the rest of the town because they are the newest
citizens and live outside of the town isolated from everyone else. When Bella Swan invited Edward
Cullen to come to the beach with her group of friends he declined feeling like he would not be wanted
there. One of the characters, Angela, had this to say while they were at the beach, It was nice that
Bella invited Edward, nobody ever does. This is what Mike had to say in response, That s because
Cullen is a freak. The other male characters in the scene chimed in with their agreement on his
comment. Not only are the Cullen s isolated ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The costumes of the vampires are all light and neutral colour clothing that stand out from the humans
who wear darker shades of clothing. This is an immediate difference to the audience that these people

introduced, they are sitting in the top left corner of the cafeteria/screen furthest away from everyone
else in the cafeteria. There is a strong connection to isolation right away within this scene for the
audience from the costumes to the framing of the shot. Just like the vampires, what a teenager wears
or where they sit in the cafeteria could isolate themselves from the majority. These are common
worries that teenagers have because they wanted to be accepted and not be the one who is isolated

Speech On Painkillers
It s only natural to head straight for your medicine cabinet when you feel a headache coming on, but
did you know that you re actually putting yourself in danger by relying on painkillers every time you
have a migraine or eye fatigue? Overconsumption of painkillers can and almost always does lead to
the body developing a tolerance to them, which makes your regular dosage ineffective, meaning you
have to increase the number of painkillers you take to get rid of your headache. This, in turn, can
cause you to develop an addiction to painkillers, something that about 10% of Americans are believed
to suffer from.
In order to avoid becoming reliant on painkillers and to ensure they are effective when you do use
them you should always try ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

If you re one of the 28 million Americans who are left deabilited by migraines, you should pay careful
attention to this entry. In cases of severe sinusitis and migraines that refuse to subside, bypass all
previously mentioned pressure points and go straight to the Tian Zhu points.
The Tian Zhu points are unique in that they are located on the back of head. They rest just above the
sides of the neck, where the spine runs into the hairline. Applying pressure to the Tian Zhu points will
ease, and, in some cases, eradicate migraines so that you no longer have to spend hours lying in a
darkened room when you re supposed to be working. The one downside of the Tian Zhu points is that
it can be a challenge to reach them by yourself, so you may need a family member or particularly
obliging colleague to squeeze them for you.

Analysis Of My Zombie, Myself By Chuck Klosterman
Zombies aren t supposed to exist. But what if they do, and we interact with them every day? Chuck
Klosterman s essay, My Zombie, Myself , compares everyday life to the task of killing zombies.
Through elaborate metaphors, quotes from zombie experts, and a strong call to action, he successfully
appeals to pathos, ethos and logos to convince his readers. Klosterman argues that even though
modern life is monotonous, it is possible to escape the monotony.
Klosterman uses elaborate metaphors and similes to seamlessly compare modern day life to the
prevalence of zombies in society s media and entertainment, as well as using words with a negative
connotation to influence his readers view of modern day life. Through the comparison of the daily ...

Through doing this, he firmly establishes the fact that monotonous tasks are the new zombies, as well
as further setting up the readers view of these tasks as negative, by using words such as uncreative and
stupid. By using words with a negative connotation, Klosterman sets his readers up to be dissatisfied
with the monotony of their life. Through the use of metaphors and similes that compare the
completion of daily tasks to killing zombies, and the use of words with a negative connotation,
Klosterman sets the reader up to show them that life can be better.
Klosterman appeals to ethos, as well as pathos, with a quote from Max Brooks, a zombie expert, and
continues with appeals to logos in his discussion of the quote. Max Brooks is the author of several
zombie books, as well as a zombie survival guide, which lends him, and in the process, Klosterman,
expertise on the subject. Since Brooks is a zombie expert, the fact that Klosterman is quoting him
shows that his essay is supported by experts, and gives validity to it, and that Klosterman knows what
he is talking about. This all serves to cultivate Klosterman s ethos and to make what he says more
believable to his readers. In addition, the quote from Brooks he uses further establishes the monotony
of daily tasks that are repeated by comparing them to a zombie brain with the fact that they will
perform that one function...until its power source eventually shuts down, (848). This appeals to

Taking A Look At Bodybuilding Supplements
Taking a look at bodybuilding supplements
Supplements can come as a great solution for the bodybuilder that wants to get better results from his
workouts. But before diving into the land of bodybuilding supplements, buying everything you can
and everything you heard that might be good for bigger gains, you should calm a little bit and inform
yourself on what does what. There are a plethora of products on the market. There is the real
supplement, the product that will aid you in your workout to become the next bodybuilding world
champion. Then there are tons and tons of miracle products. Unfortunately for us, they are legally sold
and can not be put down, despite the fact that there are just simple scams that promise the unthinkable.
You need to know what to look for, what to buy and how a product may affect you. Also, you need to
understand that supplements are nothing more than little boosters in your already carefully planned
workout and diet that you follow religiously. Supplements without hard work is just mindless
consumption of useless products. Working hard is what makes bodybuilding such a great sport which
attracts so many people. Nutrients are there to help you harden up in your hard work, resulting into
advancing to even harder work. As it was mentioned, products are plenty. There are plenty of products
for the most specific of needs. The most popular ones are creatine, protein powders, whey protein,
glutamine, muscle milk, whey, iron supplements, vitamins

Most patients diagnosed with Neurocognitive disorder due to Alzheimer s live approximately ten years
but there are very few that have lived for 20 years (American Psychiatric Association, 2013). Major or

The process starts with the status of mild Neurocognitive disorder due to Alzheimer s and
progressively declines until it reaches the major Neurocognitive disorder due to Alzheimer s status
(American Psychiatric Association, 2013). Early onset symptoms of this disease usually is causative

Aspartate And Glutamate Lab Report
The central objective of this thesis is the complete In Vitro and preliminary In Vivo development of
biosensor devices suitable to measure the excitatory neurotransmitters, Aspartate and Glutamate,
within the ECF of the brain, and for the subsequent characterisation of these devices. Owing to the
circumstance that both Aspartate and Glutamate are actually electro inactive compounds, their direct
electrochemical detection is not possible. As such, another means of detection was required to
overcome this situation and is provided for by way of an indirect measuring system. The enzymes,
aspartate oxidase, (L AOx), and glutamate oxidase, (GluOx), react selectively towards aspartate and
glutamate respectively. During each of these reactions, hydrogen peroxide, (H2O2), is produced,
which is readily electrochemically detected. Consequently, the production of this particular molecule
made these enzyme/substrate pairs choice candidates for our purpose. ... Show more content on

Why Race And Ethnicity Have An Effect On Political...
People hate to be isolated. Sadly, people are the ones who actually initiates isolation. In some way, we
are harming each other. World is becoming a very horrible place; intelligent people are shunned,
education is shot, ignorance is rewarded and police are corrupt. We can t live with each other when a
race is isolated. A person who is different in community by his or her skin color is classified as an
outcast. Outcasts have no right speak up. That is why I think race and ethnicity have an effect on
political participation. Although lately there are some improvements, that didn t have a big impact on
people.
Considering a variety of political acts, we find that, in the aggregate, African Americans are slightly,
and Latinos are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
People do not care about what is right, they care about what is popular and the only way to get over
this pointless view; humanity should improve as in one group. Bottom line is that political
participation may seem approachable, but the people who have the guts to talk to millions should be
awarded not shunned just because they are different.
Political participation is valid; however, we still see many problems. For instance, voter identification
requirements have a substantially negative impact on the voting power of several voting groups.
People who belong to a group which is the minority, face with some problems. They are inhibited by
the majority to keep the constant rate of vote in order to reach to success. In other words, they are
excluded from the society. There may be people who are aware of this situation but for those who aren
t should know that Texas Republicans have a reason to stop minority voting. Ginsburg noted the
motive behind the tougher ID law, which is that the state s ruling class of mostly white Republicans is
less and less representative of the state s population as a whole. In light of the seismic demographic
shift in Texas between 2000 and 2010, making Texas a majority minority state, the District Court
observed that the Texas Legislature and Governor had an evident incentive to gain partisan advantage
by suppressing the votes of African Americans and Latinos. From this information another ugly side
of humanity can be seen.

The New Performance Management System
1. INTRODUCTION
Vitality Health Enterprises, Inc., was founded in 1987 in Ames, Iowa by 42 year old Fred Kikuchi.
Kikuchi s original vision for Vitality was matching the corporate strategy to one of his favorite
ancestral sayings: Outer beauty can only be achieved as inner harmony is reached. In the first quarter
2009, Vitality began rolling out its new business strategy. Beth Williams organized a committee to
review the present performance management system and make it a coherent performance management
system in order to hold employees accountable for their actions incentivize strong employee
performance by offering thoughtfully designed compensation packages, including salaries, bonuses
and equity opportunities in the form of options. The new performance management system would
institute a forced distribution model of performance rankings, shifting from an absolute ranking
system to a relative one.
2. LITERATURE REVIEW OF PERFORMANCE MANAGEMENT APPROACH
The literature review focusses on two main systems of performance management mainly the forced
distribution performance ratings system and the absolute performance ratings system. Organisations
use both the systems of performance measurement. The Forced Distribution rating system (FDRS)
forces supervisors to distribute a predetermined percentage of employees in performance categories
based on their employees performance compared with that of his or her co workers (Moon, Scullen,
Latham, 2016, p. 166). This approach

Immigration Reform is Needed in the US Essay
Immigration in the United States The immigration patterns of the United States have fluctuated over
the years, some years having little while others see a rising amount of immigrants, both legal and
illegal, looking for opportunities to improve their lives. The amount of illegal immigration is a
problem since many take advantage of the social services provided by the government without
contributing towards the country since they are not citizens and many people see these illegal
immigrants as a threat to their employment. Illegal immigrants do affect the U.S negatively in a

Though attitudes towards immigrants are negative, immigration was not always bad, in fact it was
once welcomed into America when it lacked a strong labor force. Most immigrants working in the U.S
during this time learned that life as a worker here was better than their previous life. Both skilled and
unskilled workers boosted the economy in strong times, but when the economy was on a fall, the
unskilled laborers were hit hardest of all (Andryszewski 52). Effects of immigration on the economy
also raise the argument over social service abuse, which is immigrants using social services provided
by the government without paying social service taxes or being in the right legal status to obtain those
services. Many have argued that illegal immigrants should not be entitled to health care services and
public education should be denied to illegal immigrant children. If this were to happen then family
migrants would be less common, and this is counter productive to the U.S, it is much better if the
immigrants arrive with their families to help them assimilate better within society and makes them
better citizens. Illegal immigrants children have the opportunity to gain a free education in

Richard Milhous Nixon s Father s Side Of The Family
Richard Milhous Nixon came from a family with a strong heritage. His father s side of the family were
Methodists originally from Scotland. Then, in the early 1600s, they migrated to Ireland, and to
America in the 1730s. His grandfather, George Nixon, died in the Battle of Gettysburg during the
Civil war. Richard s father, Frank Nixon, was born in Ohio. His mother died when he was only 7, and
he left home when he was only 14. He went from town to town doing odd jobs and eventually made
his way to California where he met his future wife, Hannah. Nixon s mother s side of the family was

Analysis Of The Boy In The Striped Pajamas
They say that ignorance is bliss. That is somewhat true, as not understanding the atrocities in our
world would surely make a happier person. However, innocence can also lead to calamity. The Boy in
the Striped Pajamas, by John Boyne, is a coming of age story about Bruno, the son of a Nazi
Commandant under Adolf Hitler. Bruno was initially very ignorant of what was happening in the
world and was very immature about moving from Berlin. As the days went by, he got used to his new
home and his thoughts were maturing, as he started thinking with logic and rationale. Bruno finally
understands that he has to be a good person to everyone regardless what others might think. His
character has strongly developed. Despite Bruno being unaware of his situation and his father being a
Nazi, he matures from being childish and unsatisfied for moving to finally finding purpose in life by
being a good human being.
Bruno, initially, has ignorance about everything going on in his life. For example, his dissatisfaction
with leaving Berlin is demonstrated in many parts of the story. He is shown to the reader as being
innocent, immature, and unable to give things a chance. On many occasions, Bruno complains about
moving to Out With (Auschwitz). He continually complains before even giving himself a chance to
experience it. He was whining and being stubborn. To illustrate, in the novel, the author says, Nothing,
thought Bruno, not even the insects, would ever choose to stay at Out With.

That people had a great need to promote ethical behavior, which of course is still true today. With this
Kant came up with the idea called the Categorical Imperative , which could also be known as
Groundwork of the metaphysics of morals. This meant, Act only according to that maxim by which
you can at the same time will that it should become a universal law. When I first read that I had to read
it couple of times and then ask myself. What did this mean? Then realized that it meant do unto others
as you would have them do unto you. With this being said it was offering him a way of testing the
morality of an action by imagining how it would be if it were practiced and you were the victim of it.
For us it could be as simple as taking something from work. But if we all did it then we wouldn t have
supplies and would have to be guarded. A bit like if you can do it, I can do it too and expect you to be
okay with it. The categorical imperative is designed our perspective, to get us to see our own behavior
in less immediately personal terms and thereby recognize some of its limitations. Kant went on to
argue that this idea could be stated in another way: Act so as to treat people always as ends in

  • 2. Pros And Cons Of Nuclear Fission How Nuclear Fission produces Nuclear Bombs and Energy KABOOOOM! That was the sound of the two atomic bombs the United States of America dropped on the cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki during World War 2. These two bombs were the main reason the Japanese surrendered, which led to the end of the war. The bomb at Hiroshima had a death toll of 135,000 and Nagasaki s death toll was 64,000 ( The Atomic Bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki ). So how are these destructive bombs made? They are made by nuclear fission. Nuclear fission is when an atom splits into two parts, either through natural decay of when instigated within a lab and it produces energy. The natural decay is done through beta decay and blasting neutrons at the nuclear of the atom is what splits the atom. Nuclear fission has changed the world today, it is used to create nuclear bombs and conduct electricity in power plants, and has ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Nuclear power also has a lot fewer greenhouse emissions. It has been determined that the amount of greenhouse gases have decreased by almost half because of the prevalence in the utilization of nuclear power. Nuclear energy has the least effect on nature since it doesn t discharge any gasses like methane and carbon dioxide, which are the primary greenhouse gasses ( Pros and Cons of Nuclear Energy. ). So, nuclear power is the cheapest source of electricity and produces the smallest amount of pollution than any other source of energy. But there s even more pros about nuclear energy. It is the most reliable source of energy. Solar energy is only good in sunny places, wind energy is only good in windy places, geothermal energy can only conduct electricity where hot spots are located, and hydroelectric energy is produced by water turning turbines that produce electricity. Nuclear energy can be conducted anywhere as long as there is enough space for the power plant to be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Usmc Case Study Summary Fields SNC was confident while presenting the brief. He did not provide the purpose during the Orientation, the Enemy statement was simply a repeat of what was given by the evaluator, and there was no in order to for the Mission. The SOM briefed was too vague with no executable instructions provided, and SNC failed to provide any Tasks. During the execution, SNC placed himself in an appropriate location where his FT could hear him and he would be able to assist as necessary; however, he was timid with little confidence or command presence. Instead of ordering his FT members to complete tasks he asked them if they were comfortable doing those things. Because of this, SNC did employ his FT members well and when they were able to successfully complete a task SNC was unsure how to continue on. This indicated that SNC was ... When one of his FT members made it to the far side of the obstacle, SNC realized there was no logical reason for having sent him over there so he told him to touch the red and take the penalty. He only did this to get his FT member off the obstacle quicker instead of maneuvering back to the beginning. SNC acted too hastily when he realized time was short. He attempted to maneuver the obstacle on his own, with no purpose behind his actions, and paying no attention to where the red areas on the cables were. • 4. Analysis Of Alan Ginsberg s Howl Poetry has a special ability to drive in a main theme or point in the same way that a powerful image can. It does this through careful selection and use of the language, ensuring the words create an image in the minds of the reader that is even stronger than the words themselves. Like a powerful image, poetry can transfer a sense of meaning directly to the subconscious brain without the conscious mind realizing it. By paying special attention to how this is done within the poem, analyzing the words used and how they are put together, the meaning of the poem moves back into the conscious mind and can relate profound meaning regarding the human condition or the state of society. In his poem HOWL , Alan Ginsberg attempts to comment on the state of modern society and its effects on the best minds and angel headed hipsters as the hipsters become crushed under a force collectively termed Moloch from which the only escape is madness. Ginsberg introduces the protagonists of his story in Part I of the poem. They are the best minds and angel headed hipsters of his generation, but their lives are a wreck, their brilliance is wasted, their angel heads are severely tarnished. Written from the point of view of an insider, the section offers a sympathetic tone to the realistic portrayal. Ginsberg uses a form he invented called long line verse to offer these descriptions which are really more like mini vignettes of their lives and organizes them on a fixed base. In this part of ... • 5. Poem Analysis Of A Story By Li-Young Lee The relationship between father and son changes over time, and molds along with the people in encapsulates. As in real life, the father and son who inhabit Li Young Lee s poem A Story experience sudden changes within their relationship as the time passes on. The son s cries for a story that slowly change into adult conversations throughout the poem indicate that with maturity and age comes both understanding and hostility. The contrast between the son s first words with his father and his later conversation emphasizes how rapidly he is growing up. At first, the son lovingly exclaims, not the same story baba, a new one . However, towards the end, the son s affectionate speech turns angry, as he shouts, are you a god, the man that screams? ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The son at first calls his father baba , a symbol of both mutual respect and a childlike viewpoint of his father, suggesting he looks up to him as a person. However, he later mockingly calls him a god , making fun of his so called authority as his father. Then, right at the end of the poem, he reverts back to his childish ways, calling him baba once more, even begging him to please read him another story. This shift from respect, to anger, then back to respect represents the circular nature of growing up. While one learns to rebel as they get older, their anger and hostility is replaced with that same wonder and admiration as there existed in the beginning. Even though the son loses respect for his father, he is able to gain it back through his life experience in growing up, furthering the fact that with maturation comes both positive and negative reverberations hand in hand. Family relations are complex, but none may be as difficult to navigate as the bond that exists between a father and his son. Even though the son becomes angry and displeased with his father, he is always able to come back to him, revealing the cyclic nature and the impacts of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Mapping the Issue Essay Jonathan Lee Eng 1302 8 March 2012 Thomas Tutt What Makes a Community Worth Gaming for Dear friends and students of UTA, I humbly come to you with a simple argument, one that is close to my heart. Though it may sound trivial, the argument has been raging on for three decades, and has grown to a nation wide debate. The question: is there such thing as a gaming community? Again, the question may sound inconsequential, but consider this fellow Mavericks, what makes a community? Is it just a group of people meeting and having a good time? Or is it more? Is something like gaming able to unite people from all across the world? Admittedly, the argument is rather close to my heart. I have been interested games since the age of five. I ... The gaming community boasts large gaming conventions such as PAX, and E3, where thousands of gamers meet and socialize while playing the newest games. LAN is Local Area Network, which is used to hold massive tournaments where many can pit themselves against other gamers. These Colosseums are where the celebrities of the gaming world are born, rising from the bodies of the hundreds they had slain to win. There is no law keeping force, or governing body to be sure, but it is still a community that can have an impact on the world. The gaming community is not a legitimate community. It is not legitimate due to its lack of due to its lack of organization. It may claim to be united but there is little evidence to prove it. • 9. The Social Fabric Of Late Eighteenth- And Early Nineteenth... Jane Austen s novel is principally concerned with the social fabric of late eighteenth and early nineteenth century England, a patriarchal society in which men held the economic and social power. In an often satirical portrait of the men and women attempting to gain a livelihood, Austen ironically points out faults in the system, raising questions about the values of English society and the power structure of the country. The novel is also engaged in an ideological debate that drives its plot and defines the essence of its main character. In The Dressmaker , Tilly seeks a personal injustice that happened to herself when she was blamed for the murder of her half brother, Stewart, when in truth he killed himself by mistake. Here we can see that both themes of injustice are battled by each of the protagonist s own moral code and abilities. Having a faulted yet lovable protagonist can make the modern audience want to support them in their adventures and trials, and also able to relate to the character s situations. • 11. Examples Of Sexism In Metropolis Science fiction s presence in film is nearly as old as film itself. With humble beginnings, film pioneers such as the French George Méliès set the genre in motion. At first, simple pastiches to Jules Verne pervaded, whether it be adventurous astronauts on a trip to the moon or the maiden voyage of a (then) futuristic airship. Then, come the German avant garde, the expressionist masterpiece Metropolis proved that the science fiction film could go beyond the trivial and occupy a place of legitimate artistic worth. Roy Schwartzman, in writing for Studies in Popular Culture, calls this trend of sexualizing what should be sex less robots engenderneering. (75) In reality, robots, defined as machines that operate autonomously, have no need for sexual characteristics. Real robots have no gender characteristics because, as of now, unlike in film, the robot s existence is limited to strictly industrial and scientific applications. Should robots hit the mainstream and enter our homes as maids or nannies (à la Rosie in The Jetsons), their designs may incorporate more markedly human qualities. In order for consumers to feel more comfortable around their new robot friends, they may give them names and choose to gender the personality that is programmed into them. (Schwartzman 83) Maria in Metropolis has no need for gender; she is only a simulated she and, within her mechanical core, lacks desire, spirit, empathy, love, malice, etc. Maria tells us that in the 1920s, robots were still being seen as mechanical humans that require a personality and gender identity, despite robots in reality having nothing at all with their human creators. But the more autonomous machines become, the greater the need for talking about them in anthropological terms. The aroma of coffee permeated the market s air. As we were walking, I stopped after identifying some fascinating small portrait sneaking at the corner of a chair. Wait, I need to see something, I beamed to Aika. She whipped her head and when I looked, shooting one last glance toward her, she shooed me with her right hand in the air. Then, she indicated she was going to grab some cappuccino from Starbuck located in the middle of the street. I gave her the signal and diverted my attention on the miniature. I edged slowly into the chair and I crouched down to pick the portrait, to get a better look. My eyes irresistibly draw to the crack at the center of the portrait. I put it back, with my brown eyes lit up at the price tag, who had introduced into shrinking cost. I walked away from the stall and as I rambled down the street to rejoin Aika. Business Controlled Assessment At Afro Caribbean Hair Styles Business Controlled Assessment For my controlled assessment I have investigated an entrepreneur named, Asaya Marks, who owns a small multi purpose business called Asaya Hardware and Asaya Beauty Box which changed on July 5th 2014 from Causeway £ Saver. The business is both a hardware store and a beauty salon, the beauty salon specialising in Afro Caribbean hair styles. For the controlled assessment I will be doing task 3, which states: Which of the qualities shown by an entrepreneur has most contributed to the success of their business? In response to this task I found a mixture of desk and field research; desk research expressing various opinions of entrepreneurial skills, field research being questionnaires and feedback forms expressing the entrepreneur, the staff and some customer s views. From Appendix 1 I have become more aware of the importance of planning within a business it allows an entrepreneur to decide their desired outcome for the business. Planning with consistency is also important (Appendix 4) as it leads to a more success and stability for the business; Asaya Marks does this by using forecasts often when planning which may lead to a more organised method of planning. Asaya Marks business benefits from planning as she can be more prepared for circumstances such as an increase in supply and demand in which she could have already planned a way to purchase goods from a different seller at short notice. • 20. Semiotic Analysis of True Detective Semiotic Analysis of True Detective In 1951, the first television crime drama series, Dragnet significantly influenced our American culture. According to the New Oxford American Dictionary, the term dragnet is a symbol, for, a system of coordinated measures used to apprehend criminals or suspects. Most crime drama series solve a different case each episode. Although, in current pop culture crime dramas focus on one particular crime, throughout an entire season. Similar, to the show Homeland, the HBO crime drama True Detective adds a twist on the conventional series. The show depicts a subject matter that has affected modern society as a whole. Southern Louisiana police detectives Rust Cohle and Marty Hart, in 2012, are asked to revisit their solving of a ritualistic murder case from 1995. The murder of a former student of the Light of the Way Christian Academy lays the foundation, for detective Cohle s doubts about the true design of religion. The True Detective storyline portrays the utilization of religion, education, and politics, by men in power who manipulate and control young innocent children. Questioning the validity of religion within a crime drama series is relative to modern society. The conspiracy within the Catholic Church to suppress hundreds of child molestations committed, by Catholic priests is a pertinent sign represented in True Detective . The Effects of Political Parties on a Democracy There are indeed several aspects in the composition of political parties that threaten democracy in the UK, whilst other aspects may promote democracy. Careful analysis must be done in order to establish to what extent either is true. On the one hand, it may be argued that parties in fact promote democracy for a variety of reasons. Firstly, they assist the electorate by offering them a coherent choice, allowing people to vote democratically. Rather than the electorate having to choose between several members of each party, and having to place votes for central government subsequent to placing local constituency votes, voting is made simple and ... Not only by modernising themselves to represent current populations in Britain, parties also modernise themselves by generating new ideas for changing times. The labour party is the most famous for adapting its policies and ideology. Labour changed its name to New Labour under the leadership of Tony Blair in 1997, to reflect these radical changes. At this time Labour chose to adapt its policies, and lose a lot of its socialist values. Under Old Labour state ownership was held under high regard. But after Thatcher s privatisation of state businesses, Labour acknowledged that it would be dangerous to radically reform businesses and bring them back under state ownership, thus they modernised their policies adapting them to the New Britain, by sticking to privatisation which had been warmly received. Stephanie Meyer s book series Twilight is one of the most popular teenage vampire interpretations. The vampire characters within the movie are metaphors for the teenager. It is common for teenagers to feel isolated from their surroundings and the people around them. The Cullen s in the movie are automatically isolated from the rest of the town because they are the newest citizens and live outside of the town isolated from everyone else. Through the use of metaphors and similes that compare the completion of daily tasks to killing zombies, and the use of words with a negative connotation, Klosterman sets the reader up to show them that life can be better. Owing to the circumstance that both Aspartate and Glutamate are actually electro inactive compounds, their direct electrochemical detection is not possible. Political participation is valid; however, we still see many problems. For instance, voter identification requirements have a substantially negative impact on the voting power of several voting groups. People who belong to a group which is the minority, face with some problems. They are inhibited by the majority to keep the constant rate of vote in order to reach to success. In other words, they are excluded from the society. There may be people who are aware of this situation but for those who aren t should know that Texas Republicans have a reason to stop minority voting. Ginsburg noted the motive behind the tougher ID law, which is that the state s ruling class of mostly white Republicans is less and less representative of the state s population as a whole. In light of the seismic demographic shift in Texas between 2000 and 2010, making Texas a majority minority state, the District Court observed that the Texas Legislature and Governor had an evident incentive to gain partisan advantage by suppressing the votes of African Americans and Latinos. Organisations use both the systems of performance measurement. Both skilled and unskilled workers boosted the economy in strong times, but when the economy was on a fall, the unskilled laborers were hit hardest of all (Andryszewski 52).
