Acceptance Within American Born Chinese By Gene Yang
Acceptance within American Born Chinese by Gene Yang is scattered everywhere within the book. It s
in each story within many situations. One of them telling about a challenging and treacherous journey
across hundreds of miles of terrain. All of the main characters reveal so much power of acceptance
while I was reading through each chapter of the book. To clarify the many events within the novel I
will analyze and relate my experiences as a soldier to the journeys of the Monkey Key, Jin, and finally
the monk. Immediately from the beginning the book leads us on with the Monkey King to overcome
the challenge of getting accepted to a dinner party. The Monkey King is almost exactly of what one
might but with a twist. He s a regular monkey with a little bit more to offer to the world. He possess
leadership, and understands many skills worthy to be a ruler, and becomes little out of hand when he
gets upset. A prime example of this is when he attempted to prove the guard that he was well worthy
of entering the dinner party. The Monkey King tried to persuade the guard by stating I am the
sovereign ruler of flower fruit mountain in order for the guard to understand that this little monkey
wasn t so little (14). The Monkey King even laid out his credentials for the worthy disciplines he
mastered. This was a great challenge the Monkey King did since it involved thousands of minor
disciplines and four major disciplines. This all tells me that this monkey was no ordinary monkey, but

American Fashion Industry in 21st Century
American Fashion in 21st Century Fashion is the need to adapt to ever changing styles; to dress in
distinctive and current trends and a means for one to express their individuality. Fashion refers to
keeping every aspect of one s body up to date for varying reasons. Some people prefer a simple life
style with modest attire whereas most passionately follow the fashion industry and rapidly change
accordingly. This increase in demand for individually tailored items including everything from
clothing and footwear to makeup and body piercings is what gave birth to the fashion industry. The
roots of this business can be traced to America in the nineteenth century where it grew rapidly and
spread across the globe to become the highly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
What is more, this completion extends to designers as well since they strive to differentiate their
products introduce innovative styles which can result in an inefficient use of resources and illegal
business practices. This need for cost minimization is one of the reasons as to why the fashion
industry exploits cheap foreign labor. The glamor, the runways and the exhibitions are just the front of
a dark background. This industry works on the basis of subcontracting, where designers place orders
with manufacturers who then hire sub contractor to complete their orders. Since this industry is highly
competitive subcontractor are given only take or leave option with often less payment compared to
amount of work which forces them to resort to employing cheap labor in their own workshops which
often end up resembling sweat shops. Even if this is not the case, designer brands have their own units
to produce their goods. Recently many of the fashion retailers have been accused of underpaying their
workers and violating international labor laws by running sweatshop. These involve extremely low
wages, long working hours and poor working conditions. Earlier this month, factories in Cambodia
were investigated for possible violation labor laws. These factories produced clothing for the fast
fashion retailer H amp;M which was found to be paying their workers a measly wage of $61 a month
by a Swedish TV program called Kalla Fakta (Keilla 1). Since America is powerful

The Effects Of Illegal Immigrants On The United States
There are millions of illegal immigrants in the United States, as Markon (2016) argues that the
majority are from South and Central America, Europe, and Mexico. They form a population of
between 10 million to 12 million undocumented immigrants in the United States. One of these illegal
is my father, who came to the U.S.A in 1996 to work and tried to pay the numerous debts that he got
in my country; in addition, my country had a large concern where there weren t jobs and several banks
had gone broke because of the change from Sucre to the dollar. At that time, my father thought the
only solution was to come to get that money. My father, there are other undocumented immigrants that

James (1991) points out that illegal made various effects to be legal, such as creating fake documents
like Social Security or green cards, and faking marriage. All those affairs are called fraud, and they
can be deported directly without any opportunity to get a trial. Anti immigration supports comment
that the problem with undocumented immigrant workers is that flouting the law has become the norm.
(Miller, 2010).
Another reason why people support deportation is because some illegals come as criminals and cross
the border to damage the country. According to James (1991) says some of illegals cross the border to
bring drugs like cocaine, heroin, and marijuana, or do illicit things. The drugs, which a lot of
Americans consume, come from South America to Mexico. Where a drug dealer produces, then and
sends them to the U.S.A. In the 1990 s the maximum portion of the drugs came from Mexico, where
drug traffickers passed the drugs through the river that is between Mexico and the U.S.A (James,
1991). These acts have created the increase of crime and violence and have made it unsafe peacefully
to live for the citizens and for the life of the members of the Border Patrol by illegal border crossers
(James, 1991).
However, not all undocumented immigrants cause a harmful effect and

Native Hawaiians And Asian Immigrants
In Hawaii, in the 1940 s, Caucasians, or haoles as they were commonly referred to, unfairly targeted
Native Hawaiians and Asians by giving them significantly lower wages. This treatment, along with
other social, economic, and political issues, created the negative atmosphere that led to 1949 Dock
Strike. On the one side of this conflict were the haole controlled companies known as the Big Five :
on the other side were the longshoreman workers made up mostly of Native Hawaiians and Asian
Immigrants. Although Native Hawaiians and Asian Immigrants struggled for decades against the Big

Evaluating The Implementation Of Leadership Theory And...
Administrating medication is one of the main duties that healthcare professionals have to development
in Hospital. According to Huges, 2008 the most common definition for medication error is: Any
preventable event that may cause or lead to inappropriate medication use or patient harm while the
medication is in the control of the health care professional, patient, or consumer. Such events may be
related to professional practice, health care products, procedures, and systems.
As a consequence, it is also the most common failures that a Leader working in health care services
should face and improve in favour of offer an excellent service for the patients and community.
However, deal with these events is no easy and require wide knowledge related to procedures, policies
and regulations in order to organize the implementation of leadership theories without affecting the
rules already established or interfere with the operation of the health service.
After a conscious analysis of the situation our group choose two main theories to be use in this case:
Attributional theory and Transformational Theory that could be development into the health services

A child develops through its whole life. They can develop; physically, linguistically, intellectually,
socially and behaviourally. Physical development is the way in which the body increases in skill and
becomes more complex in its performance [Meggitt, 2000, Page 2]. Twenty five days after
conception; the body of the chid has developed immensely from the small fertilised egg. Up to birth
the foetus mainly develops physically however once the child is born the child then begins the long
process of development. Not only do the gross motor skills and the fine motor skills develop on the
baby, but the sensory development also widens on the child.

Between the ages of 2 and 3, balance improves and the toddler walks with a smoother gait. During this
period she learns to stand briefly on one foot, walk backwards, and walk on tiptoes. A child jumps in

she climbs a small ladder and goes down a small slide, then manoeuvres on a variety of playground
equipment around 35 months. Between 30 and 34 months, toddlers begin to walk up stairs alternating
feet without a hand held or use of a railing. Other play skills expected within a few months of the third
birthday are catching a playground ball that has been tossed to the child and pedalling a tricycle. At
the age of 2 their language develops to the telegraphic stage meaning their speech is similar to
telegrams, approximately two or three words which express a need or command. At 2 the child will
often ask many questions to extend their vocabulary further, such as what s that? They will share
songs and rhymes however will be unsure of some words. This changes at the age of 30 months when
the child will be able to say some nursery rhymes with little support and will begin to speak to

malcolm x Essays
Malcolm X was a very interesting and complicated person. Throughout his life, Malcolm had
exposure to practically every type of person the world had to offer. In his younger years, he excelled in
his community predominately surrounded by whites. He then got into the hustling business within the
black community which supplied for all types of people. After that, he joined the Nation of Islam,
joining himself with many Muslims. Lastly, Malcolm went on a Hajj to Africa, where his
communication with a diverse group of people expanded. Each time Malcolm had a new group of
people in his life, he had a different alias to go by. Whichever one is remembered most, Malcolm

He then got caught as a burglar and was put in prison. As in many aspects of his life, the book gave
more details of Malcolm s life inside the steel bars. Since no one was in jail with him that was
interviewed in the film, we could not get a good presentation of others views of his experiences in jail.
While in prison, Malcolm hears about the Nation of Islam through his family. The leader of the group,
Elijah Mohammed had a central idea that all white men were devils. In learning this, Malcolm thought
back to all of the white people he had previously encountered. It is easier for us to understand
Malcolm s thought process after reading the book, since the film did not tell us of all of his
relationships with white people. Malcolm then converted to Islam.
Replacing his last name with X did more than just change his name, it changed his personality. He
changed his last named because he did not want to be connected in any way with his old last name that
was given to his ancestors by slave owners. The film really let us know his displeasure with his old
last name. During an interview, Malcolm refused to tell his interviewer his given last name. I felt as
though the movie was very helpful in learning about him as Malcolm X. The book would tell us about
how Malcolm gave powerful speeches and little details about his preaching but you cannot replace the
actual footage of his speeches. On several occasions,

Is thinking a necessity in dealing with or handling issues on a daily basis? Every day we are faced
with situations that will requires us to think on different levels. Thinking is a very imperative method
of how an individual s thoughts when being read by someone else can generate a comprehensible
concept. In this paper, I will explain some of the perceptual blocks that have some bearing on my
views and how I reply to it. The sensing process is a very significant part to the process of thinking. It
would be very hard for an individual to think without using this process. Being able to hear, smell,

The best solution could always be determined by the tone of the person s voice, their body language
and their facial expression. All situations will be different and should be handled individually. Believe
what you see and always expect the unexpected.
Anything that stops an individual from finding a helpful explanation when solving a problem is
considered a block. There are several different types of blocks. Perceptual, emotional, intellectual,
expressive, environmental and cultural are some of the various groups of blocks. Perceptual blocks
occur from the way we were thought to recognize information from the world around us. Emotional
blocks occur when our emotional needs contradicts with the situation at hand. Intellectual blocks are
caused by an individual not being able to understand information required to solve a problem.
Expressive blocks occur when an individual is unable to communicate in the way required to generate
an effective solution. Environmental blocks are caused by exterior barrier in the social or physical
environment. Cultural blocks result from our training to agree with what is expected or typical in a
given situation.
The situations we encountered working with the US Census Bureau required us to use one or more of
these blocks. We mainly used the emotional, perceptual and the cultural blocks. Each team member

The Controversial Role Of Hazing In The Present Day
Hazing is a common ritual found in both academic and employment settings. Although hazing was
instituted a few centuries ago, its prominence can still be seen in modern day society. For that reason,
this paper will examine three areas that includes the background of hazing, the viewpoint comparison
on hazing through two peer reviewed articles, and why hazing is still controversial in the present day.
Background of Hazing
According to Parks, Jones, Ray, Hughey, and Cox (2015), hazing as part of a rite of passage process
dates back to the beginning of mankind with the first documented instances of organized hazing
coming from ancient Greece, where prospective soldiers demonstrated their loyalty through painful
and uncomfortable experiences ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The captain can remind teammates of the hazing prevention workshop and suggest a progressive team
dinner where each senior member of the team provides a food course. (Heibert Klatt, 2001, p. 170 2;
p. 17)
Keep in mind that Waldron s (2012) suggestions for reducing hazing may have little influence due to
the countervailing force of peer pressure (Edelman, 2005, p. 328). Therefore, it is highly unlikely that
this contradictory approach will succeed using a short range tactic to replace a long range strategy
(Fallacies, 2006, More..., para. 1 42; Heibert Klatt, 2001, p. 170 2). Hence, further discussions are
needed to determine which author(s) presented the stronger argument.
Taking all this into account, Waldron (2012) has presented a stronger argument than Josefowitz and
Gadon (1989). The reason for this is due to Waldron (2012) maintaining a neutral position, while
presenting strong scientific evidence on the subject of hazing. Also, the statistics presented by
Waldron (2012) did not have any fallacies when compared to that of Josefowitz and Gadon (1989)
(Fallacies, 2006, More..., para. 1 42). Based upon these differences and how society has changed its
cultural stance on hazing, Waldron (2012) has clearly given the better argument and solution for
stopping hazing. Hence, a further discussion is needed on why hazing remains a controversial

The Things They Carried Rhetorical Analysis
The Things They Carried The Heaviest of Burdens
The Things They Carried by Tim O Brien is a non fiction body of fiction writing. While names,
characters and situations are imaginary, the circumstances encountered by the people represented in
the war depicted are very much real. There is an intriguing story line beneath yet another story that is
being told and with each sentence the more it resonates. There is the story of unrequited love,
unabashed bravery, and unfathomable pain. Throughout all of this turmoil and what is the very
essence of discomfort, the story moves forward and the reader is compelled to follow. In relating the
layers of stories wrapped into the writing O Brien masterfully uses the techniques of repetition, pattern
and indirect style of writing to emphasize that no amount of physical weight compares to the mental

The narrator gives voice to Jimmy Cross who wanted to know the intimate secrets of his Martha. He
wonders about her poetry and why she seemed so sad, why she danced alone. These are not words
spoken, but their impact is stronger when reading them from the point of view of Jimmy Cross
himself. This style of writing is the best to pull the reader in, to signify a change in emphasis and
intensity. This also serves to help create the mirror of what is being compared. Necessary weight for
war vs. inescapable weight of loss from the war.
There are countless critics with countless opinions of this writing. Different takes and different flavors

Australian Landscape
Patrick White s novel, Voss (1957) tells the story of a nineteenth century German explorer s journey
into the Australian landscape. In this essay, I will examine the attitudes and assumptions towards the
Australian landscape over the past 200+ years, and evaluate what has changed in these contexts.
Attitudes can depend on many cultures, these cultures can differentiate depending on things such as
gender, attitude to the outdoors, individuality, conquest, religion, being urban or rural and drought.
These are only a few of the hundreds of different cultures that can affect attitudes and assumptions
towards Australian landscapes.

public lands. It galvanised public opinion, and the environment threatened, became a major issue in
the 1970 elections. This can be seen as a culture of time and circumstances. 1970 can be seen as the

The 1970 election then lead to an increase in size and number of national parks, the establishment of

The English Colonies In North America
J Taiya Carr REFLECTION PAPER 2 HIS 201 June 15, 2016 The English colonies in North America
were slowly separating themselves from the crown. It starts with radical kings in Europe who cause so
much disruption that a civil war occurs. The colonies worked together to fend for themselves and
survived quite well without the crown and Parliament watching over them. England was not aware of
it but every little thing they did to try reasserting command over the colonies only pushed them farther
away. If England had always kept a firm hand on the colonies, we would be speaking proper English
and marveling at our queen in the twenty first century. One of the mistakes England made was
allowing King James II to try enforcing control upon the colonies ... Show more content on

George Greenville could be blamed for all of it since he was chief minister and developed some of
these ideas. The colonists were not happy with Parliament s decisions to them without their consent,
especially since Britain s were the only ones able to be taxed since they had elected representatives in
Parliament. The Quartering Act seemed to be one of the last straws. The colonists believed their
requirement to house and feed British troops was England s way of trying to dominate them. Thanks
to Greenville, the Sons of Liberty was created in protest of the laws created and wide spread protests
began. The Stamp Act would soon be repealed and Greenville replaced, but Parliament would pass the
Declaratory Act to assert their power to create laws over the colonies. It almost looked as if they were
asking for a rebellion. The Sons of Liberty grew stronger, protests larger, and the unfortunate Boston
massacre happened. The death of a few individuals by the hand of British soldiers influenced
Parliament to repeal many but not all acts. The tip of the ice berg was the Boston Tea Party. Due to
disguises, the British did not know who committed the act and decided to punish all of Boston. The
end of result of all this was the first Continental Congress that wrote a declaration, most likely practice
for the big declaration that would be written in a few years, that

What would a person say that makes a world goes round? Money, emotions, power and what not? But
there would also be many who would say that it is the aesthetics. And who can keep arts and crafts
apart and separated from the idea of aesthetics and beauty? Crafts are the reflection of the beauty not
only of the world around us but of the human mind itself as well. It is well known that many people

It shouldn t be surprising that so many universities today offer a number of courses on different crafts

Biological Networks And The Biomedical And Genomic Fields
In the past two decades, technological advances in the biomedical and genomic fields have generated
enormous volumes of omics data. These data continue to be scattered in various databases accessible
through the World Wide Web (Table 1), there have been some significant efforts to integrate these to
answer specific questions (e.g., candidate disease gene prioritization1, tissue specific interaction
networks2, etc.). Concomitant with the development of specialized powerful gene and protein and
disease variant annotation databases, there has been an explosion in the number of publications in the
scientific literature. For example, in October 2015, there were approximately 43000 journals in
PubMed (ftp://ftp.ncbi.nih.gov/pubmed/J_Entrez.txt) and more than 21.5 million PubMed abstracts.
Collectively, these resources represent different facets and also our current knowledge of
pathophysiological mechanisms. These heterogeneous and humongous data resources have spurred the
demand for development of robust and efficient computational approaches to store, process, integrate,
analyze, interpret and generate novel hypotheses.
Biological networks share several features (e.g., scale freeness and small world properties) with social
and communication networks3. Hence, the algorithms used for analyzing social networks or Web
networks are equally relevant and useful for processing or interpreting biomedical and omics
networks. The various types of the omics data, such as protein

Uses of Voice Over Internet Protocol
VOIP: Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) can be defined as a series of technologies and technique
that is used for release of voice communications and multimedia through Internet Protocol networks.
In some cases, this technique is referred to as a means of converting analog audio signals into digital
data that can be delivered through an Internet Protocol. The use of the technique is attributed to its
ability to transform standard Internet connection into a platform for free phone calls. In the past few
years, Voice over Internet Protocol has emerged as an innovative technology with the capability of
completely transforming phone systems across the globe. As a result, VoIP providers have not only
existed for a considerable period of time but are also growing steadily. However, the use of VoIP to
rework modern phone systems is characterized by several advantages and disadvantages.
Use of VoIP: The use of Voice over Internet Protocol is primarily an intelligent re invention of the
wheel in the world s phone systems. Generally, this technique involves transmitting voice information
in digital format in distinct packets instead of using the conventional circuit committed protocols of
the public switched telephone network ( VoIP (voice over IP) , n.d.). This technique was developed
following initiatives by major equipment providers to enhance the use of standard measures for
transmitting voice and video using Internet Protocol within an intranet and across the public

was not the grounds for impeachment. So, was Bill Clinton s impeachment justified? No. There
cannot have been an obstruction of justice if the per suite of truth in this case was not itself a just

diagram and cilia.
In the following lines, we ll discuss in detail about these organs and their functions and how the design
of whole RESPIRATORY SYSTEM facilitates gaseous exchange.
The respiratory system is a group of organs that work together to bring the exchange of oxygen and
carbon dioxide into and from the blood. Its main function is to transport oxygen into the body and the
excrete carbon dioxide out of the body. Respiration can occur at two separate levels, the level of the
cell (internal respiration) and the level of the organism (external respiration). Internal respiration is the
exchange of gases between the blood and body cells. External respiration, more commonly known as
breathing, is the exchange of gases between the air and the blood in the lungs.
The respiratory system can be divided into two parts, the upper and the lower respiratory tracts. The
upper respiratory tract consists of the organs which lie outside the chest cavity and these include: the
nasal cavity, the pharynx, the larynx

The Lord Family Mansion At The Beginning Of The Film
1. When I first saw the locations of the Lord family mansion at the beginning of the film, I observed
the yard that located in the front of the Lord family mansion, where different breeds of flowers and
trees were planted. Beside the mansion, there was also a full size and clean swimming pool.
Furthermore, at the beginning of the movie, I observed while Katharine was talking to her mother
about the second wedding, there were several maid and butler working on food and declaration in the
background. I also noticed the decorations in the lord family mansion. For instance, the classical clock
and the beautiful plates in the living room are quite luxurious and ornamental. Also, the family owns
many valuable possessions. For instance, the car that parking in the front of the mansion seems very
clean and assuming it is new and expensive. Katharine and her sister have their own private driver and
car when they went out. The movie is clearly telling us that the lord family is a wealthy family. I learn
about them through the settings of the film, the plots, and the production design in the film. For
example, it s definitely not a casual activity to ride a horse as we saw in the beginning when Katharine
met her fiancé. Other than the mansion itself, I also observed the wealth of the Lord family through
the fact that the newspaper and news reporter were especially interested by the second wedding of
Lord s daughter. Undoubtedly, the Lord family is wealthy, according to the location,

There are 18 variety of different kinds of properties using eggshell in real life. Eggshell is usually used
by four major section in daily life. First of all, the common way of using eggshell is agriculture such
as feeding it to chicken and the wild bird, giving plants a calcium boost, tossing it in the compost pile.
In the second place, the eggshells are utilized in medical part such as tooth re mineralizing, using the
shell s membrane as an all natural bandage, canine diarrhea remedy. The third, the usage of the
eggshells is for a human. For example, people usually use it to make calcium power for intake in daily
and your coffee for making the smooth flavor. And also some people use it cleaning clothes for stain

reasons, I figured out a chemical formula for the eggshell. Eggshell is made up of 95% calcium
carbonate and 5% calcium phosphate with magnesium carbonate.
The formula CACO3 is very common in natural such as limestone cave, animal s bones. Normally, the
cement production and agriculture have deployed this component. The formula CACO3 is utilized to
enforce the strength of cement in the company. Increasing the strength is one of a good property of

A Technical Analysis of Ergonomics and Human Factors in Modern Flight Deck Design
I. Introduction Since the dawn of the aviation era, cockpit design has become increasingly
complicated owing to the advent of new technologies enabling aircraft to fly farther and faster more
efficiently than ever before. With greater workloads imposed on pilots as fleets modernize, the reality
of he or she exceeding the workload limit has become manifest. Because of the unpredictable nature
of man, this problem is impossible to eliminate completely.
However, the instances of occurrence can be drastically reduced by examining the nature of man, how
he operates in the cockpit, and what must be done by engineers to design a system in which man and

III. System Design A design team should support the concept that the pilot s interface with the system,
including task needs, decision needs, feedback requirements, and responsibilities, must be primary
considerations for defining the system s functions and logic, as opposed to the system concept coming
first and the user interface coming later, after the system s functionality is fully defined.
There are numerous examples where application of human centered design principles and processes
could be better applied to improve the design process and final product. Although manufacturers
utilize human factors specialists to varying degrees, they are typically brought into the design effort in
limited roles or late in the process, after the operational and functional requirements have been defined
(Sanders McCormick, 727 8). When joining the design process late, the ability of the human factors
specialist to influence the final design and facilitate incorporation of human centered design principles
is severely compromised. Human factors should be considered on par with other disciplines involved
in the design process. The design process can be seen as a six step process; determining the objectives
and performance specifications, defining the system, basic system design, interface design, facilitator
design, and testing and evaluation of the system. This model

The possibility of independence in the Congo became real in the 1950s, when Europe was still weak
from World War II and there was a sudden spike in radical political activity from Congolese elites,
who created political parties that demanded more freedom to govern themselves. From LOOK UP

is told from the perspectives of the daughters, who only pick up the snippets of rebellion and news that
filter into their village, which is interpreted by each of them differently. By understanding the political
turmoil that the Congo faces in the post colonial era from a historical perspective, it is easier to see the
parallels that Kingsolver built between what s going on in the outside world and the events in the
personal lives of the Prices. Compared to the Congo s struggle for a stable nation, arrogant and

unable to fend for himself after years of domestication and captivity, just as the Congo was
unorganized after decades of Belgian imperialism. And on the same day that the Congo reaches its

Cultural Competency And Social Work Practice
The BusinessDictionary.com defines cultural competency as, A set of behaviors, policies, and attitudes
which form a system or agency which allows cross cultural groups to effectively work professionally
in situations. This includes human behaviors, languages, communications, actions, values, religious
beliefs, social groups, and ethic perceptions. Individuals are competent to function on their own and
within an organization where multi cultural situations will be present (2016).
Our communities are composed of various ethnicities which have led to the need to incorporate
cultural competency in state legislation, federal statutes and programs, private sector organization and
academic settings. The Indicators for the Achievement of the NASW Standards for Cultural
Competency in Social Work Practice is the manual that guides the social practice in attaining cultural

How Did John D Rockefeller Impact On America
The New Tycoons All three of these successful entrepreneurs have had their own individual impacts
on America at their time and today. John D Rockefeller had an enormous impact on America, as he
provided the perfect image for the American dream. Since he came from a humble beginning, he came
from a small town in New York and his father practiced herbal medicine and cured people in the area.
He then was sent to a Cleveland business school and started work as a clerk in a shipping firm. He
then saved enough money to start his own business, but quickly sold that business and got into the oil
industry. He then innovated the oil business by creating new ways to produce products out of the
waste product of making kerosene. He quickly made a huge profit and then created horizontal
integration by creating many trusts with other businesses in the oil industry to create a monopoly.
Rockefeller was the first to create a monopoly in American business and revolutionized the way
businesses interacted. Andrew Carnegie was like Rockefeller in the way that he came from humble
belongings by growing up in a small town in Pennsylvania. He was talented in accounting and reading

My New York City
During my second day for my New York City trip, me and my friends decided to go ahead and check
out a bit early from the hotel Gallivant . Our plan was to go ahead and walk around the city before
heading to our corporate site visits planned for the rest of the day. At that morning, I hurriedly took a

the selfies people took and the hustling of crowds moving to the next attraction like ants swarming in

It has become socially acceptable for parents to treat hyperactive children with medication due to
behavioral problems. However, they need to know medications are doing more harm than good in
helping their children. Hyperactive children should rely on treatments other than medication. Parents
of hyperactive children should try other treatments as having well balanced meals, processes of
biofeedback, or evaluating the life style. For instance, medications are not long term solutions for
hyperactivity. Medications for ADHD symptoms have side effects that take effect swiftly and does not
perform well. Needed to be taken multiple times in one day for it to be somewhat effective. Fred A.
Baughman writer of The ADHD Fraud: How Psychiatry Makes Patients of Normal Children, says No
ADHD drug has been shown to enhance performance over long term. No medication for ADHD has
been proven to work effectively over long periods of time. ADHD medication suppresses symptoms
for only short term and will be needed to be retaken often. Hyperactivity should not be treated with

Israel s Unfaithfulness To Hosea
A prophet was someone called by God to be a spokesman and a model of the message that God gave
them. The prophets spoke the God given message through different types of oracles, as well as in a
poetic fashion. Not only did God call the prophets to speak the message, he also called them to
visually illustrate the message with their lives. So, they lived out what they preached. Hosea was a
prophet to the kingdom of Israel. God called Hosea to marry a harlot as a symbol of Israel s adultery
against God. Gomer s unfaithfulness to Hosea was an illustrative picture of Israel s unfaithfulness to
God with the gods of the other kingdoms. Hosea had three children with Gomer, each child s name
held a meaning related to Israel s future. Hosea s first son was named Jezreel as a picture of the future
bloodshed, and the end of the house of Israel. Hosea s second child was a daughter, and her name was
Lo Ruhamah as a picture of the mercy that God would take from Israel and give to Judah. Hosea s last
child was another son whose name was Lo Ammi as a picture of God rejecting the house of Israel as
His people because of their sin. After Hosea and Gomer had their children, Gomer became unfaithful
and ran off with other lovers. Little did she know, she was exhibiting a picture of Israel s

The Value and Leadership Skills in Healthcare
The value and leadership skills in healthcare are both very professions are vital skills that are needed
to provide everyday care (Graber, 2008). This literature review will explore the important values and
leadership in health care. The review will provide the understandings of both topics. The term value
can be determined by a person s standards and principles (Gaudine Beaton, 2002). According to
Grojean, Resick Diskson (2004) leadership, is an actual way to improve patient`s. A good leader is
said to reveal certain roles and behaviors that influence others in the way of positive change and
direction. Viinamäki, (2009) back these same ideas but also have confidence in that there is a
difference between value and leadership. They believe that leaders are viewed as individuals who can
connect through motivation, visions, and inspire positive directions to generate company and
organizational change. Graber (2008) impression of leadership can be understood as the capability of
one person to impact the behaviors and actions of other people.
Grojean, Resick Diskson (2004) suggest that leaders are responsible for facilitating their follower s to
become capable and guide them to improving their capabilities and strengths. Differentiating between
different leadership styles can be done in a number of ways. It was determined that the traditional
styles of leaders include authoritian (autocratic), democratic, permissive (laissez faire) and
bureaucratic (Viinamäki, 2009).

Negative Effects Of Advertising
Firstly, advertisements have negative impacts on young people. Media has played a major role in
influencing people s perception of the differences between male and female expectations. For
example, sex appeal in advertising can have negative effects on youth s self esteem, body image and
can brainwash their young minds to purchase the company s products. Advertisements have always
used sex appeal to gain attention and persuade people to buy that certain product. The media creates
an unrealistic body image, and women are often shown as sexy, thin and beautiful. These images can

For instance, youngsters that don t buy branded clothes or shoes may feel bad about themselves and
might start to believe that they don t fit in the group. Advertisements can encourage people to buy
products and make them think that purchasing and consuming are a major part of their lives.
Therefore, advertisements can alter an individual s way of thinking and force them to believe and feel
in a certain way. Secondly, there is a lack of equal representation in video games. Women are often
represented as submissive and subordinate characters that depend on men. They are oftentimes
categorized in four groups of characters like sex objects or prizes, victims, feminists and heroes
(Dupon). For young people that are still developing their perception about women, these stereotypes
can be detrimental and create a misrepresentation on women. Female roles in video games are
presented as sexual objects and victims, but male gender roles are shown as heroes, villains and as
overly aggressive and violent. In video games, female characters are excessively under represented
and are mainly given secondary roles in relation to men. For examples Mario Brother s popular
princess Peach Toadstool was present in the early video games, but the players could not choose to
play her character. She was a damsel in distress that the brothers were attempting to rescue . Women in
video games are shown scantily clad and used as

Andrew Jackson s Nullification Crisis
Andrew Jackson: Nullification Crisis
Andrew Jackson was the seventh President of the United States. Jackson served as President from
March 4,1829 through March 4, 1837. The doctrine of nullification allows for a state to void any
federal law they believe to be unconstitutional. The Nullification Crisis began in 1832, when South
Carolina declared the Federal Tariffs were unconstitutional for their state. Jackson argued that the
jurisdiction for state nullification of federal laws was misguided, unlawful and treasonous to the
country, he did not support them or South Carolina. Jackson began his proclamation by outlining the
reasons and reservations that led South Carolina to pass the ordinance. The major concerns for the
Southerners were the tariffs. I, Andrew Jackson, President of the United States, have thought proper to

  • 2. Acceptance Within American Born Chinese By Gene Yang Acceptance within American Born Chinese by Gene Yang is scattered everywhere within the book. It s in each story within many situations. One of them telling about a challenging and treacherous journey across hundreds of miles of terrain. All of the main characters reveal so much power of acceptance while I was reading through each chapter of the book. To clarify the many events within the novel I will analyze and relate my experiences as a soldier to the journeys of the Monkey Key, Jin, and finally the monk. Immediately from the beginning the book leads us on with the Monkey King to overcome the challenge of getting accepted to a dinner party. The Monkey King is almost exactly of what one might but with a twist. He s a regular monkey with a little bit more to offer to the world. He possess leadership, and understands many skills worthy to be a ruler, and becomes little out of hand when he gets upset. A prime example of this is when he attempted to prove the guard that he was well worthy of entering the dinner party. The Monkey King tried to persuade the guard by stating I am the sovereign ruler of flower fruit mountain in order for the guard to understand that this little monkey wasn t so little (14). The Monkey King even laid out his credentials for the worthy disciplines he mastered. This was a great challenge the Monkey King did since it involved thousands of minor disciplines and four major disciplines. This all tells me that this monkey was no ordinary monkey, but a ... • 3. American Fashion Industry in 21st Century American Fashion in 21st Century Fashion is the need to adapt to ever changing styles; to dress in distinctive and current trends and a means for one to express their individuality. Fashion refers to keeping every aspect of one s body up to date for varying reasons. Some people prefer a simple life style with modest attire whereas most passionately follow the fashion industry and rapidly change accordingly. This increase in demand for individually tailored items including everything from clothing and footwear to makeup and body piercings is what gave birth to the fashion industry. The roots of this business can be traced to America in the nineteenth century where it grew rapidly and spread across the globe to become the highly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... What is more, this completion extends to designers as well since they strive to differentiate their products introduce innovative styles which can result in an inefficient use of resources and illegal business practices. This need for cost minimization is one of the reasons as to why the fashion industry exploits cheap foreign labor. The glamor, the runways and the exhibitions are just the front of a dark background. This industry works on the basis of subcontracting, where designers place orders with manufacturers who then hire sub contractor to complete their orders. Since this industry is highly competitive subcontractor are given only take or leave option with often less payment compared to amount of work which forces them to resort to employing cheap labor in their own workshops which often end up resembling sweat shops. Even if this is not the case, designer brands have their own units to produce their goods. Recently many of the fashion retailers have been accused of underpaying their workers and violating international labor laws by running sweatshop. These involve extremely low wages, long working hours and poor working conditions. Earlier this month, factories in Cambodia were investigated for possible violation labor laws. These factories produced clothing for the fast fashion retailer H amp;M which was found to be paying their workers a measly wage of $61 a month by a Swedish TV program called Kalla Fakta (Keilla 1). The Effects Of Illegal Immigrants On The United States There are millions of illegal immigrants in the United States, as Markon (2016) argues that the majority are from South and Central America, Europe, and Mexico. They form a population of between 10 million to 12 million undocumented immigrants in the United States. One of these illegal is my father, who came to the U.S.A in 1996 to work and tried to pay the numerous debts that he got in my country; in addition, my country had a large concern where there weren t jobs and several banks had gone broke because of the change from Sucre to the dollar. At that time, my father thought the only solution was to come to get that money. My father, there are other undocumented immigrants that came from the same situation or for other reasons to this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... James (1991) points out that illegal made various effects to be legal, such as creating fake documents like Social Security or green cards, and faking marriage. All those affairs are called fraud, and they can be deported directly without any opportunity to get a trial. Anti immigration supports comment that the problem with undocumented immigrant workers is that flouting the law has become the norm. (Miller, 2010). Another reason why people support deportation is because some illegals come as criminals and cross the border to damage the country. According to James (1991) says some of illegals cross the border to bring drugs like cocaine, heroin, and marijuana, or do illicit things. The drugs, which a lot of Americans consume, come from South America to Mexico. Where a drug dealer produces, then and sends them to the U.S.A. In the 1990 s the maximum portion of the drugs came from Mexico, where drug traffickers passed the drugs through the river that is between Mexico and the U.S.A (James, 1991). These acts have created the increase of crime and violence and have made it unsafe peacefully to live for the citizens and for the life of the members of the Border Patrol by illegal border crossers (James, 1991). While in prison, Malcolm hears about the Nation of Islam through his family. The leader of the group, Elijah Mohammed had a central idea that all white men were devils. In learning this, Malcolm thought back to all of the white people he had previously encountered. It is easier for us to understand Malcolm s thought process after reading the book, since the film did not tell us of all of his relationships with white people. Malcolm then converted to Islam. Replacing his last name with X did more than just change his name, it changed his personality. He changed his last named because he did not want to be connected in any way with his old last name that was given to his ancestors by slave owners. The film really let us know his displeasure with his old last name. During an interview, Malcolm refused to tell his interviewer his given last name. Although hazing was instituted a few centuries ago, its prominence can still be seen in modern day society. For that reason, this paper will examine three areas that includes the background of hazing, the viewpoint comparison on hazing through two peer reviewed articles, and why hazing is still controversial in the present day. Background of Hazing According to Parks, Jones, Ray, Hughey, and Cox (2015), hazing as part of a rite of passage process dates back to the beginning of mankind with the first documented instances of organized hazing coming from ancient Greece, where prospective soldiers demonstrated their loyalty through painful and uncomfortable experiences ... Therefore, it is highly unlikely that this contradictory approach will succeed using a short range tactic to replace a long range strategy (Fallacies, 2006, More..., para. 1 42; Heibert Klatt, 2001, p. 170 2). Hence, further discussions are needed to determine which author(s) presented the stronger argument. Taking all this into account, Waldron (2012) has presented a stronger argument than Josefowitz and Gadon (1989). The reason for this is due to Waldron (2012) maintaining a neutral position, while presenting strong scientific evidence on the subject of hazing. Also, the statistics presented by Waldron (2012) did not have any fallacies when compared to that of Josefowitz and Gadon (1989) (Fallacies, 2006, More..., para. 1 42). The colonies worked together to fend for themselves and survived quite well without the crown and Parliament watching over them. England was not aware of it but every little thing they did to try reasserting command over the colonies only pushed them farther away. George Greenville could be blamed for all of it since he was chief minister and developed some of these ideas. The colonists were not happy with Parliament s decisions to them without their consent, especially since Britain s were the only ones able to be taxed since they had elected representatives in Parliament. The Quartering Act seemed to be one of the last straws. The colonists believed their requirement to house and feed British troops was England s way of trying to dominate them. Thanks to Greenville, the Sons of Liberty was created in protest of the laws created and wide spread protests began. The Stamp Act would soon be repealed and Greenville replaced, but Parliament would pass the Declaratory Act to assert their power to create laws over the colonies. It almost looked as if they were asking for a rebellion. The Sons of Liberty grew stronger, protests larger, and the unfortunate Boston massacre happened. The death of a few individuals by the hand of British soldiers influenced Parliament to repeal many but not all acts. The tip of the ice berg was the Boston Tea Party. These data continue to be scattered in various databases accessible through the World Wide Web (Table 1), there have been some significant efforts to integrate these to answer specific questions (e.g., candidate disease gene prioritization1, tissue specific interaction networks2, etc.). Concomitant with the development of specialized powerful gene and protein and disease variant annotation databases, there has been an explosion in the number of publications in the scientific literature. For example, in October 2015, there were approximately 43000 journals in PubMed (ftp://ftp.ncbi.nih.gov/pubmed/J_Entrez.txt) and more than 21.5 million PubMed abstracts. Biological networks share several features (e.g., scale freeness and small world properties) with social and communication networks3. The respiratory system is a group of organs that work together to bring the exchange of oxygen and carbon dioxide into and from the blood. Its main function is to transport oxygen into the body and the excrete carbon dioxide out of the body. Respiration can occur at two separate levels, the level of the cell (internal respiration) and the level of the organism (external respiration). Internal respiration is the exchange of gases between the blood and body cells. External respiration, more commonly known as breathing, is the exchange of gases between the air and the blood in the lungs. System Design A design team should support the concept that the pilot s interface with the system, including task needs, decision needs, feedback requirements, and responsibilities, must be primary considerations for defining the system s functions and logic, as opposed to the system concept coming first and the user interface coming later, after the system s functionality is fully defined. There are numerous examples where application of human centered design principles and processes could be better applied to improve the design process and final product. Although manufacturers utilize human factors specialists to varying degrees, they are typically brought into the design effort in limited roles or late in the process, after the operational and functional requirements have been defined (Sanders McCormick, 727 8). When joining the design process late, the ability of the human factors specialist to influence the final design and facilitate incorporation of human centered design principles is severely compromised. Human factors should be considered on par with other disciplines involved in the design process. The design process can be seen as a six step process; determining the objectives and performance specifications, defining the system, basic system design, interface design, facilitator design, and testing and evaluation of the system. By understanding the political turmoil that the Congo faces in the post colonial era from a historical perspective, it is easier to see the parallels that Kingsolver built between what s going on in the outside world and the events in the personal lives of the Prices. Compared to the Congo s struggle for a stable nation, arrogant and exacting Nathan Price becomes a representation of all of Western culture, which forces its way into the Congo, hell bent on extracting its resources and convinced that the inferior African society is in need of fixing.
