Zheng He Dbq
Why we don t Celebrate the Voyages of Zheng He.
Did you know that in 1381 of Ma He s childhood, Ma He (Zheng He) was the only Mongol to be held
in China before he was taken prisoner to the Ming Dynasty? This meant that he had to join the armies
by thousands of eunuchs who were held in part by the government. Ma He as a young man gained
high in rank with the trust of Emperor Yongle. Thus, Emperor Yongle gave him power, wealth, loyalty,
with the noble name of Zheng He. One day the emperor told him to obtain an enormous mission. He
was told to lead several ships from Nanjing, China to Mombasa crossing all the seas that follow. He

Dreyer)]. If the voyage sailed a long distance many times, what did they see? What were some of the
accomplishments? We cannot figure out most of these questions because the records were destroyed
(document A). The ships were also significantly big. If there were records, we could have imagined a
day in the ships being a doctor, soldier, captain, etc. [document B(Illustration from When China
Ruled, Zheng He s treasure ship (440 ft) and Christopher Columbus s Santa Maria (85 ft))]. Why were
these valuable records destroyed? Was there a conflict with opposing lands? If there was a conflict I
see no reason why the records were destroyed if there was huge space for the soldiers to settle to guard
the ship with the records [document C (Chart of Zheng He s Fleet By the Numbers Illustration of

The, New International Version Essay
People have different trait characteristics that make them who they and how they interact with others
in various circumstance. As we learn to understand ourselves, we begin to know our characteristics,
the varied nuances which make us who we are. Though I believe my personality traits have changed
over the years, with maturity, I find myself to reflecting on various scenarios realizing that if I only
knew this information sooner, the situation could have had a completely different outcome. God Made
Me Special For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother s womb. I praise you
because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. (Psalm
139:13 14, New International Version) My worldview is that of a Christian worldview and that I am
responsible to a much higher authority. I am responsible for doing what is right in my creator s eyes.
Moreover, possessing this view holds me accountable to the new commandments of Christ by, Loving
the Lord our God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your
mind, (Luke 10:27, New International Version) we will follow and obey his every word. Additionally,
Jesus also said, Love our neighbor as yourself, (Luke 10:27, New International Version) by fulfilling
this commandment, we will take interest in our neighbors, ensuring their health, physically and
spiritually. The Myers Briggs personality panel is made of 16 different personality

Lehman Brothers Great Depression
Lehman Brothers was founded by German immigrant Henry Lehman and his two brothers Emanuel
and Mayer in 1850. Lehman Brothers was able to overcome many obstacles the railroad bankruptcies
of the 1800s, the Great Depression of the 1930s, two world wars, a capital shortage when it was spun
off by American Express in 1994, and the Long Term Capital Management collapse and Russian debt
default of 1998. (Investopedia) But the collapse of the housing market was one obstacle they could not
overcome.
During the Great Depression the Glass Steagall Act was enacted in 1933. The legislation prevented
commercial and investment banks from competing with each other and protected their balance sheets
by having each sector focus on certain transactions. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The firm recognized profits from 2005 to 2006, and in 2007 it reported a record net income of $4.2
billion on revenues of $19.3 billion. In the same year, Lehman Brothers stock reached an all time high
of $86.18 per share, giving it a market capitalization close to $60 billion. (Investopedia) The bursting
of the housing bubble was imminent. Defaults on subprime mortgages were at a seven year high. The
stock market had its biggest single day drop in five years on March 13. In the post earnings conference
call, Lehman s chief financial officer (CFO) said that the risks posed by rising home delinquencies
were well contained and would have little impact on the firm s earnings. He also said that he did not
foresee problems in the subprime market spreading to the rest of the housing market or hurting the
U.S. economy. (Investopedia) Bear Stearns, another investment bank, had two hedge funds fail with
the credit crisis in August. Lehman Brother s stocks fell strongly and it shut down its BNC unit in the
same month.
Lehman Brothers underwrote the most mortgage backed securities, gaining a portfolio four times that
of its shareholders equity at 85 billion dollars. At the end of 2007 in the fourth quarter, Lehman s
stocks rebounded. The firm however, did not take that opportunity to reduce its large mortgage
portfolio. That large portfolio coupled with its high degree of leverage at 31 made Lehman Brothers
very vulnerable to the deteriorating market conditions. In

Emerging English Learners
Homes all across Australia speak more than one language. This includes the large amount of
Aboriginal and Torres Strait islander languages and dialects present across the country. The growing
diversity of Australia is reflected in the amount of students who are classified as EAL/D learners.
EAL/D learners are students whose first language is either a dialect or language other than English.
Children are taught their first language/s (L1) at home this is known as their mother tongue. Children
may be taught two languages at once from the time of infancy this is called bilingualism. Regardless
of what these languages are each and every children will learn the same way. The learning process is

constantly having to converse in English.
Emerging English learners have a basic knowledge of English and also know other language or
dialects. These students are more capable of participating in classroom tasks and contributing to
discussions. However they still struggle with written and oral tasks and need a lot more concentration
than those with English as their first language.
Developing English learners have a clearer understanding of English and actively participate in
classroom tasks. With this higher knowledge of English they are able to concentrate for longer periods
and have a developing proficiency in written English. These students can also create longer pieces of
spoken or written language. However are still grasping the English rules of grammar and expanding

The Importance of Social Networking
Social Networking
Andrea Whitfield
Ashford State University
INF 103 March 15, 2010
In today s society knowledge, having technical skills and access to information technologies, is
becoming very important for people who have become open mind and supportive with social
connections. Although resources and opportunities may be available, one may not necessarily be
aware of their existence, or even have direct access to them. In those cases, getting to know people
from different backgrounds, grades of expertise, and social levels turns out to be essential or can be
negative from all areas of networking. For instance, who among us has never needed a letter of

Badoo has an estimated 124 million users, a truly global operation, the site is managed and run from
London, and most of its users are based in Latin America, Spain, Italy and France.(Connell, 2009) The
list continues with Bebo at 117 million users bought by AOL. LinkedIn has 115 million users and is a
business based social network. Orkut, 100 million users is another Google owned site; Orkut is very
popular in India and Brazil. MySpace with 50million users once dominated the social networking
market, but declined steadily from 2008. Social networking is growing stead vastly and will continue
to grow with the advance of technology.(Connell,2009)
Social networking is a place where the sense of popularity is known and the more friends you have on
your face book the more popular you seem to become, but is this good or bad? How many of your
friends on face book do you actually know when you see them out and about and how many of them
do you interact with? Many people have taken to adding anyone they think they have something in
common with on face book for one reason or another. Just because they added them does not mean
they will ever communicate with them.
The bad part of all this has to do with status and in a society where people want to be more than just
that person we have come to want more friends on face book. Twitter is the same way but can be ugly

Social Tensions In The Gest By Robin Hood
On balance, it can be postulated that the medieval tradition of Robin Hood doesn t express social
tensions, as it arguably presents a socially cohesive society. This is particularly evident in the Gest
when Robin lends money to the knight:
If thou hast no more, sayde Robyn,
I woll nat one peny,
And yf thou have need of any more,
More shall lend the .
This is an example of Robin Hood s charity to those who have fallen upon unfortunate circumstances,
had spent all his money and mortgaged his land to save his son. This incident doesn t express social
tension as Robin Hood helps a member of the gentry, who is considered to be his superior in terms of
fifteenth century landed hierarchy. This shows his fluidity in dealing with and helping people

Analysis Of Title VII Of The Civil Rights Act Of 1964
First of all, Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 is a federal regulation prohibiting employers from
discriminating against employees based on national origin, race, sex, color, and religion (Follett,
Ward, Welch, 1993). This act applies to employers with 15 or more employees and serves as a
mechanism to ensure equality within the workplace (Fraley, 2013). This case is a violation of Title VII
from the aspect of retaliation. Retaliation occurs when an individual is treated differently after such
things as, filing a complaint or engaging in a legally protected activity. It can range from demotion,
terminations, salary reduction, or any negative job action. Second, the plaintiff should receive

Personality Testing
Summary
This essay identifies some critical reasons for why personality testing is still a key part of research
today. It started by introducing a middle aged lady who was struggling with the loss of her unborn
child and provided a test that could help identify her challenges and assist with a treatment.
Subsequently, this essay provided commentary on four separate articles, which discussed the uses of
personality testing within an organizational setting and the United States military. In addition, this
essay discussed legislation concerning psychological tests throughout different states in the United
States and the impact of not having the correct title and license in order to administer the tests and

is a network operating system that can grow with the company. Since the request to upgrade only the

ability to integrate or update other locations to Windows 2003. This meaning that network

The Splatterhouse Video
Before watching the clips, I was feeling content. I was not frustrated with anything or anyone, I was
calm and I just watched a few funny videos, which brought my mood up even more. During the first
video, immediately, my thoughts were about the quality of the animation and the story line. As for the
violence, I didn t like looking at it. I tried to turn away a few times. I think that there was an excessive
amount of gore that could have been easily cut out, but it wasn t, because the viewers or the gamers
like it.
The second video was a lot worse in my opinion. The Splatterhouse video had some sort of story line
beside the gore, but this video only showed a first point view of a person killing people in many
different ways. Because of the quality of the video, I didn t actually see anything too graphic, but just
the idea of people enjoying this game made me a little scared for our society.
During the third video, I thought about how believable the scenes were. The lighting ... Show more

watch the actual movie, because of the violent scenes that I would have to watch. Though I had almost
no interest in these videos and found most of the scenes repulsive, I caught myself on the thought that
by the time I was watching the fourth video, I got used to the violence portrayed in these videos. If the
first video made me want to turn away from the screen, the last video had no effect on me at all. I
believe that this explains the mere exposure theory. The only thing I did was sit and watch a few clips,
but the effect was that I became immune to the violence for at least some

Analysis Of Me Before You By William Traynor
Me Before You is about a young woman who takes a job as the caretaker for a quadriplegic man who
intends to commit suicide and falls in love with him. Her name is Louisa Clark and the guy who she
falls in love with is named William Traynor.
In Me Before You William Traynor is like James Bond, which means that guys want to be him and all
ladies want to be with him. Before his accident, Will lived a full life in every sense of the phrase. He
was a successful international businessman, he was having enthusiasm and in his personal time. So
after he had an accident, he lost everything in his life, because he had such a hard time of adapting to
quadriplegic life, he could not do anything beside sitting on his wheelchair. As he said, No, Clarke.
This could be a good life, but it s not even close. You never saw me before. I loved my life. I really
loved it. I can t be the kind of man who just accepts this . I empathise William s feeling because he
was never a man who was content to just sit around and think what he always had to be doing, but
now he can not do very much at all, and so his experiences, a whole lot of tensions between his earlier
dreams and his current reality. Speaking of his former dream, he pushed his ex fiancee, Alicia, away

After coming to America
All people seem to want the same basic things out of life regardless of race or religion. Universally,
people want a good job, a healthy family, and a chance for their children to have a better life than the
one they have. Families that already possess these things, whether through their own hard work or
merely by way of inheritance, rely on the existing power structures within society to ensure that their
future happiness continues . But what do people who do not belong to existing power structures turn
to in order to secure these things for their families and children?

While many rights were now theirs, one common, significant change was that slave families ... could
now live together (Foner 7). Blacks could now join together and work toward a better future, just like
all other Americans could.
Because of the active participation of the federal government, laws were passed so that former slaves
could enjoy the benefits of the freedom just awarded to them. In South Carolina, blacks demanded
access to all the opportunities and privileges enjoyed by whites (14). Black delegations in North
Carolina, Alabama, Virginia and Tennessee all struggled to secure blacks a modicum of justice in the
local courts (15). Schools were set up to educate the former slaves. Laws were passed that extended
the rights of property ownership and the vote. Businesses were started and churches were built. All of
the rights enjoyed by all other Americans were finally beginning to be enjoyed by these former slaves.
But these gains were temporary.
White southerners, accustomed to making the decisions for blacks, resented this new power base, and
quickly came to see these new leaders as insolent boors indulging in legislative license, lording it over
downtrodden whites, looting the public treasury... ( Burns 23). When a political agreement was made

Bipolar Disorder 5 Results Finding the right medication or medications for you will likely take some

Generally only one medication is changed at a time so your doctor can identify which medications

and medications may need to be adjusted as your symptoms change. Side effects improve as you find
the right medications and doses that work for you, and your body adjusts to the medications. Bipolar

Explain What Natural Resources Were Highly Valued During...
Natural resources were highly valued during the era of imperialism. Natural market trade was a
popular source of income, and with this, natural resources were necessities. If a country did not have
enough natural resources on their own soil to make a decent share, they had to expand their territory
by taking over other lands. Being the holder of large territories of land was also highly valued during
this time. The more land a country had, the stronger and more powerful they viewed as. With
expansion and power came a need for a smart political system. In the period of 1880 to 1914,
Europeans acquistized African colonies because they were politically smart so they had justification
for this, they needed more natural resources, and they needed to expand of their territories. To begin, a
country could not be successful without an intelligent political system. With a smart political system
comes great responsibility. According to source ____, ____ utilized a right they had to expand into
new territories. It was smart of them to justify their work so that their back was covered. This

Agriculture In The 1920 s Essay
Changes in Agricultural Technology in the 1920s 1930s The turn of the century was perhaps one of the
most interesting times in the agricultural scene of America. The turn from the 1800s to the 1900s
sparked a technological revolution that extended not just to urban environments, but to rural areas and
farmers. Farmers found the majority of this revolution in the 1920s and 1930s, a time when machinery
was revitalized in order to make the farming industry easier. Before this time, farmers will still using
horses to do their farm work, so the introduction of machines was absolutely life changing for the
farming industry. Prior to the 1920s, Farmers were limited by the resources that they had in order to

Ancient Solar Architecture Essay
Ancient Solar Architecture
Passive solar design and architecture may seem like a distant dream in our fast paced modern world,
but in reality it s more of a modern revival of a style of energy efficient building that has been around
for millennia. What once seemed to be common sense ideas for designing a house that could both
keep you cool in the summer and warm in the winter has somehow been forgotten since we started to
overuse the planet s resources on our own comforts. When heating a house took lots of effort it was
the wise choice to design a building that could use the energy provided by the sun in the most
advantageous ways. Unfortunately, in my opinion, since all we have to do now to heat our house is a

Not only is it the actual building either that needs to be thought about, but also the shape, style and
location of the external features that can be used for shading and other purposes. Again, this is not a
new idea. In 1 B.C., Vitruvius, the chief architect of the Roman Empire said, We must begin by taking
note of the climate in which buildings are to be built if our designs for them are to be correct . One
type building seems appropriate for Egypt, another for Spain, one still different for Rome, and so on
with lands and countries of varying characteristics. Some civilizations even used solar architecture for
purposes other than for heat. The Egyptian pyramids were able to oriented to track the position of the
sun. There were many temples that had shafts that could be opened on certain days like the solstice to
allow light beams down to an altar . This is very impressive considering that the exact angles of the
sun s rays had to be calculated and then the shafts had to be accurately constructed in order to perform
as designed. This principle also demonstrates how solar architecture doesn t have to be entirely for
heating and cooling. The design of solar homes can be very pleasing to the occupants. They are often
more open and well lighted, and they give the feel of being more connected to nature since the house
actually changes as the outside world changes.
One of the civilizations that we know the most about was Greece. They began to use

Law 421 Contracts
Contracts
Contracts are an important part of everyday life. They are an essential part of business. As a student of
a business law class, I will discuss in this paper several aspects of contracts. This paper will give a
definition of a contract and the essential elements necessary to form a valid contract. It will briefly
discuss breach of contract and the difference between a material breach and a nonmaterial breach of
contract. Examples of legal and equitable remedies available for breach of contracts will be
highlighted. Also, legal excuses for nonperformance or other grounds for discharge of contracts will
be addressed. Finally, three types of common contracts personally and professionally encountered will
be mentioned.

Contracts can be discharged by complete performance or material non performance of the contractual
duty. For example: A contractor does not do any work promised on a bathroom, or almost none, then
the homeowner does not owe him anything. Therefore, the homeowner the non breaching party is
discharged and the contractor is liable for the breach of contract (lectriclaw, 2012). A cancellation can
be effected if one party breaches the contract, or a termination can occur when either party lawfully
ends the contract for anything other than a breach. In this case, all executor duties are discharged on
both sides but in the event of a partial breach, there is still a right to seek a remedy (lectriclaw, 2012).
Procedures dealing with all aspects of contracts are a part of everyday transactions and can affect
every individual on one level or another.
In everyday living, contracts can be a basic part of individual life. On a personal level, there are
several types of contracts that have been encountered. These contracts are life, health, and automobile
insurance that is a benefit for the person insured in case something happens such as a death, a hospital
stay or a car accident. Also, there are employment contracts that are signed when one accepts a job
such as an employment application, and service contracts such as contractors performing work on my

Harriet Tubman s Impact On The Slave Community
Society is a pile of puzzle pieces that cannot fit together. Every single individual has their own say and
point of view. But, can one individual change what everyone thinks? Or, is this just another dent in the
barrier? An individual s voice can have an impact, but it cannot change society.
A person who has a voice over a certain group of people will impact only those people. Harriet
Tubman, for example, had a huge impact on the slave community. She was known as the Moses ,
leading them to safety. Slave owners did not feel elated at this idea. Their plan was to hunt down and
bring back their slaves. Tubman s actions did not settle in the Southern American community.
Eventually, slavery was abolished. But, there are some people today in

Thoth s Role In Egyptian Mythology
I ve always been fascinated by Egyptian mythology and all of the hundreds of thousands gods that the
Egyptians somehow managed to name and worship. The one that I always seem to recollect with the
most is the god Thoth. Like most gods, he has several facets that he is worshipped for, such as being
the god of the moon, the patron of writing, and being the patron of magicians. According to some
sources, he was even a creator god. Whatever godly aspect he had authority over originally were
added onto, as is true for most gods and goddesses of ancient times. Thoth is usually shown as the ibis
headed god of the moon, and that is also his most recognizable image that we see today, but he has
also been shown as a baboon headed god, or simply as a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Thoth was worshipped with the Hermopolis Ogdoad, or the eight gods and goddesses worshipped at
Hermopolis. There, Thoth is considered to be the creator of the other gods, and therefore the world. It
is said that Thoth, as an ibis, laid a cosmic egg by which the Ogdoad were born. His temple in
Hermopolis is much like any other temple in Ancient Egypt: a walkway with sphinxes watching your
every move, a pylon gateway that was guarded by obelisks and the statue of the pharaoh who founded
the temple. Within the temple, one would find the open air court with columns all around, some
reaching up to eight stories high; the inner sanctuary held the statue of the particular god worshipped
at the site, which could only be accessed by the priests or the pharaoh. At the back of the temple, one
might find the Chapel of the Hearing Ear , which was used by the regular people of the day. The only
difference between the temples of Thoth and many of the other temples was that at his temples, there
was often an ibis cult, where ibis birds were mummified after they died in order to appease the ibis
headed Thoth. Ibis s were important to the god Thoth because he had the head of an ibis, and the
hieroglyph for Thoth was in fact an ibis. Whenever Thoth was depicted as a baboon, as rare as it was
to see him like that, he was often depicted beneath the sun, its hands

Power And Fatigue Index
The magnitude of an individual s peak power, relative power and fatigue index can be directly related
to an individuals training status. This can be determined by performing a short duration supramaximal
anaerobic test. Peak power output heavily relies on the anaerobic metabolism within the body.
Comprising of the adenosine triphosphate phosphocreatine (ATP PC) system and glycolytic anaerobic
metabolic pathways. When physiological stress is placed on the metabolic, cardiovascular and
musculoskeletal system during physical training our body is forced to adapt to cope with it more
efficiently. Thus creating the differences in power and fatigue index within trained and untrained
individuals.

The History of Labor Unions Essay
During the Progressive Era of the Gilded Age, many laborers were being mistreated by the companies
that they worked for. Because of this, workers started forming labor unions or organized association of
workers, formed to protect and further their rights and interests. Many of these labor unions failed,
while few of them achieved their goals and still exist today. Many factors contributed to the failure of
these labor unions. The labor unions were given a bad image, the reason for this was the media, and
they did this by publishing articles depicting the unions as violent, communist groups. The
government supported big business during this time, since the government had a lot of power; this was
a huge setback in the labor unions battles. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Other times, the newspapers would associate them with violence. During the Great Railroad Strike of
1877, Charles M. Dollar Along with seeing labor movements as radical, many labor movements were
labeled socialist by the media. In the cartoon in Document C, the labor movement is shown to be
influenced by socialist controls. Considering the generally negative connotation that came with
communism in the United States, when newspapers like Harper s Weekly labeled organized labor as
socialist, many people developed a negative attitude towards organized labor. The disapproval of
organized labor was not exclusive to the American public but also the federal government. During the
late 20th century, the Supreme Court became increasingly conservative on the issue of organized
labor. In the Supreme Court case In re Debs, the court ruled that federal government controlled
interstate commerce and was obligated to keep the railroads from obstructions and in that specific
case, strikes or protests. The fact that a good portion of the American public and the federal
government saw organized labor as a detriment; it was no surprise that organized labor

The Debate Over Gay Marriage
Although gay marriage has been legalized in all of the United States, the idea is still heavily debated.
Richard Fitzgibbons, one of the various authors of the book Homosexuality: Opposing Viewpoints
(Homosexuality is Caused by Psychological Trauma, p.36) believe that in order to get rid of pain, a
person can be overcome by strong, erotic desires and actions, however, this does not entirely make
sense. If a man were to be sexaully assaulted by another man, they would, more than likely remain
straight, considering they were hurt by someone of the same sex.
Religion Several people use religion as an argument against homosexuality, such as Matt Slick, writer
of the article What does the Bible say about homosexuality?. Matt uses the bible as a source quoting
scriptural citations, such as in Leviticus 18:22, where it says: You should not lay with a male as one
lies with a female; it is an abomination. This, however, only makes a strong argument in the case of a
person who actually believes there is a God. Also, in Leviticus chapter 19, verse 27, the bible clearly
says that one should not shave the hairs at the sides of their head, which basically means that haircuts
were also a sin. Homosexuality is Unnatural
Many times, in an article, a person against gay marriage, or homosexuality in general will use the
argument that

Summary Of Rachel Goodnight
Rachel said goodnight to her father then headed to bed. Little did she know that would be the last time
she spoke to him. It seemed just like any morning in the Smith household to Rachel. She got out of
bed, and she began getting ready for school. In the middle of her daily routine, she suddenly realized it
seemed unusually quiet at home, so she went downstairs in search of her parents. There is no one in
sight. She went to her parents bedroom to only find her mother sleeping in her bed. This is no surprise
to Rachel because her parents had got under each other s skin more than usual these last couple days.
She did not think anything of it; she figured he would be back later that night. Once Rachel returned
home from school, her dad is still not home. Days, weeks, even months had passed, and Rachel still
had not seen her father since that day. Unfortunately, many families face this same problem of not
having a father figure in their life at some point. To some children, they do not know of a time where
they ever had a father or even who he is. Even though sometimes having a father in a family is
overlooked, they actually have a considerable effect on their daughter s lives, such as self confidence,
career options, academic achievements, and their relationships.
One of the impacts a father has on his daughter is their self confidence. Some teenagers today struggle
with self image and confidence, and society does not help it either. Society is constantly telling teens

This whole industry really kicked off with Henry Ford, an entrepreneur that took the necessary risks to

Comparing Daisy Buchanan of The Great Gatsby and Brett of...
Daisy Buchanan of The Great Gatsby and Brett Ashley of The Sun Also Rises
Written right after the publication of Fitzgerald s The Great Gatsby, Hemingway s The Sun Also Rises
is apparently influenced in many ways. The most obvious of Fitzgerald s influence is manifested in
Hemingway s portrayal of his heroine, Brett Ashley. Numerous critics have noted and discussed the
similarities between Brett and Daisy Buchanan, and rightly so; but the two women also have
fundamental differences. Compared to Daisy, Brett is a more rounded, complex character, and
Hemingway has treated her with more sympathy than Fitzgerald has with Daisy. Some similarities

Gatsby sinks into it, allowing his imagination to exaggerate until finally,
The colossal vitality of his illusion ... had gone beyond her, beyond everything. He had thrown himself
into it with a creative passion, adding to it all the time, decking it out with every bright feather that
drifted his way. No amount of fire or freshness can challenge what a man will store up in his ghostly
heart (101).
That dream is also empty because Daisy is empty. Fitzgerald depicts her as an empty, useless and
dependent female who ultimately lacks definition. Whereas Gatsby works to pursue Daisy, Nick has a
regular job, and even Jordan has her tournaments; Daisy does not have a purpose, a profession, or
even a talent for anything. Her purposelessness is apparent in this scene with Jordan Baker:
We ought to plan something, yawned Miss Baker, sitting down at the table as if she were getting into
bed.
All right, said Daisy. What ll we plan? She turned to me helplessly. What do people plan? (16)
More literally, Daisy ruins Gatsby by killing Myrtle Wilson and letting him take the blame for it, thus
ultimately causing his death. Of course, one may argue that Gatsby himself is willing to take the
blame for her:
Was Daisy driving?
Yes, he said after a moment, but of course I ll say I was. (151)

Reflection On Conflict
In this paper I will describe a conflict that has occurred in my life. It had a huge impact on my second
year of college and even today things still pop up from it, because I still run into each of these girls. In
this particular conflict between my old roommates we will review a course concept involving the four
phases of conflict escalation. Starting with phase one, a perceived threat to someone, followed by
defensiveness, then stonewalling, and lastly contempt. After the conflict occurs, one of the parties uses
the course concept of face saving by portraying something that is not really her true feeling. In order
to overcome this conflict, I will discuss how the parties need to mediate and learn to communicate
efficiently, as well as listen to each other more. The course concept I will use to help solve the conflict
is a facultative method with a third party intervention. I am also hoping to make a facilitating
reappraisal, where it might be possible to reframe the conflict. While discussing facilitating
reappraisal we will dig deeper into discussing third party intervention, which I believe both parties
may need.
My rationale for this particular choice of conflict is based on the horrible living experience I went
through last year. After the conflict, my roommates continued to struggle to get along and would argue
over little things, when there seemed to be something deeper. It bothered me for a long time because it
also impacted me. Our first year of living together everything went well, however it all started when
our lease came to an end so we were going to have to resign. So my roommates and I ended up
picking a different town house in the same apartment complex because it was bigger. The week before
it came time to sign Kaia had said that she wanted a room on the third floor. Beth at some point in
time had said she wanted a room with a window since the previous year she had not had one. Well, a
week went by and the last day to sign was here. However, Kaia got up that morning and went ahead
and signed because she was going to be gone all day bridesmaid shopping for her sister. When Beth
went up to sign later she was upset because she had apparently wanted the third floor with the window

Critical Reflection
Anyone can turn his weaknesses into strengths , I was reading the book David and Goliath by
Malcolm Gladwell, and the book was about a battle between David, the underdog, and Goliath, the
giant, and it explains how David defeated a giant by using his unconventional strategies. It also talks
about how some underdogs can overcome their weaknesses; in addition, it also explains how power
comes in different forms. Malcolm Gladwell proved his arguments by providing some real life
experiences of different underdogs. According to Gladwell, an underdog is a person who is
underestimated by everyone to perform any task successfully. Malcolm Gladwell also explains many
other terms to prove his argument. I have experiences in my student life where I felt like an underdog.
I felt disempowered because of my weaknesses. I still remember the first day of my English 838 class
at College of San Mateo, and I felt so unconfident in the classroom because I was not a native speaker.
There were also moments in my college classes where I felt empowered because of my strengths; for
example, I felt empowered in my Math 120 and pre calculus class because I already knew the
concepts of these classes. I had a lot of moments in my life where I felt empowered and disempowered
as a student, but learning from those moments helped me to succeed in my college classes.
I felt disempowered in my English 838 classroom because English was not my native language. I have
been in the United States for a year now. Earlier I was at the University of North Texas for a semester,
then I transferred to College of San Mateo because of some financial issues in spring 2017. I
registered for my English 838 class for the spring semester, but I was really worried about this class. I
was so nervous for taking English class because It was my first time taking an English class in the
United States. I came from a country where English is not a native language. Even though I was from
an English medium high school in India, I was so nervous because I wasn t sure that if I am ready to

Questions On Class Hierarchy Analysis
In other words, I started from the entry point and went through all the statements of method body.
Based on Class Hierarchy Analysis definition, for each call site b.n( ) in the method block, if static
type(b)=B, Then the targets of call site b.n( ) will be all concrete (non abstract) methods having the
same signature as method B.n( ) and declared by B or by any concrete subclasses of B including B
itself. According to this definition, I added reachable methods of each call site to the worklist then
made edges from source to reachable methods.
// initialization worklist.initialize() ; worklist while (worklist != empty) {
// remove next method from worklist
Method source = worklist.removeNext() ;
// process statements in source method for each (stmt in source) {
// if statement is a method/constructor call Method if (stmt is a InvokeStmt) { n =
stmt.getInvokedMethod() ;
List reachables = resolveDispatch(n) ; for each (Method target in reachables){ worklist.add (target) ;
callgraph.addEdge (source  target) ;
} // end of for} // end of if
} // end of for} // end of while
(A worklist approach for CHA algorithm)
The method resolveDispatch( ) finds reachable methods of each call site b.n( ) and for computing
reachable methods, at first I check if static type(b)= B and if B declares by signature method B.n( ),
then reachable methods are method n( ) in class B and all methods having signature B.n( ) defined in
concrete subclasses of B, else I have to look at the concrete

which exalt the principle of cultural patriotism. This is done in such a way that further intentions can

  • 7. Social Tensions In The Gest By Robin Hood On balance, it can be postulated that the medieval tradition of Robin Hood doesn t express social tensions, as it arguably presents a socially cohesive society. This is particularly evident in the Gest when Robin lends money to the knight: If thou hast no more, sayde Robyn, I woll nat one peny, And yf thou have need of any more, More shall lend the . This is an example of Robin Hood s charity to those who have fallen upon unfortunate circumstances, had spent all his money and mortgaged his land to save his son. One type building seems appropriate for Egypt, another for Spain, one still different for Rome, and so on with lands and countries of varying characteristics. Some civilizations even used solar architecture for purposes other than for heat. The Egyptian pyramids were able to oriented to track the position of the sun. There were many temples that had shafts that could be opened on certain days like the solstice to allow light beams down to an altar . This is very impressive considering that the exact angles of the sun s rays had to be calculated and then the shafts had to be accurately constructed in order to perform as designed. This principle also demonstrates how solar architecture doesn t have to be entirely for heating and cooling. The design of solar homes can be very pleasing to the occupants. • 27. Summary Of Rachel Goodnight Rachel said goodnight to her father then headed to bed. Little did she know that would be the last time she spoke to him. It seemed just like any morning in the Smith household to Rachel. She got out of bed, and she began getting ready for school. In the middle of her daily routine, she suddenly realized it seemed unusually quiet at home, so she went downstairs in search of her parents. There is no one in sight. She went to her parents bedroom to only find her mother sleeping in her bed. This is no surprise to Rachel because her parents had got under each other s skin more than usual these last couple days. She did not think anything of it; she figured he would be back later that night. Once Rachel returned home from school, her dad is still not home. Days, weeks, even months had passed, and Rachel still had not seen her father since that day. Unfortunately, many families face this same problem of not having a father figure in their life at some point. To some children, they do not know of a time where they ever had a father or even who he is. Even though sometimes having a father in a family is overlooked, they actually have a considerable effect on their daughter s lives, such as self confidence, career options, academic achievements, and their relationships. One of the impacts a father has on his daughter is their self confidence. Some teenagers today struggle with self image and confidence, and society does not help it either. Society is constantly telling teens to look ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Daisy Buchanan of The Great Gatsby and Brett Ashley of The Sun Also Rises Written right after the publication of Fitzgerald s The Great Gatsby, Hemingway s The Sun Also Rises is apparently influenced in many ways. The most obvious of Fitzgerald s influence is manifested in Hemingway s portrayal of his heroine, Brett Ashley. Numerous critics have noted and discussed the similarities between Brett and Daisy Buchanan, and rightly so; but the two women also have fundamental differences. Compared to Daisy, Brett is a more rounded, complex character, and Hemingway has treated her with more sympathy than Fitzgerald has with Daisy. Some similarities between Brett Ashley and Daisy Buchanan include their physical beauty, their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He had thrown himself into it with a creative passion, adding to it all the time, decking it out with every bright feather that drifted his way. No amount of fire or freshness can challenge what a man will store up in his ghostly heart (101). That dream is also empty because Daisy is empty. Fitzgerald depicts her as an empty, useless and dependent female who ultimately lacks definition. Whereas Gatsby works to pursue Daisy, Nick has a regular job, and even Jordan has her tournaments; Daisy does not have a purpose, a profession, or even a talent for anything. Her purposelessness is apparent in this scene with Jordan Baker: We ought to plan something, yawned Miss Baker, sitting down at the table as if she were getting into bed. All right, said Daisy. What ll we plan? She turned to me helplessly. What do people plan? (16) More literally, Daisy ruins Gatsby by killing Myrtle Wilson and letting him take the blame for it, thus ultimately causing his death. Of course, one may argue that Gatsby himself is willing to take the blame for her: Was Daisy driving? Yes, he said after a moment, but of course I ll say I was. • 33. Reflection On Conflict In this paper I will describe a conflict that has occurred in my life. It had a huge impact on my second year of college and even today things still pop up from it, because I still run into each of these girls. In this particular conflict between my old roommates we will review a course concept involving the four phases of conflict escalation. Starting with phase one, a perceived threat to someone, followed by defensiveness, then stonewalling, and lastly contempt. After the conflict occurs, one of the parties uses the course concept of face saving by portraying something that is not really her true feeling. In order to overcome this conflict, I will discuss how the parties need to mediate and learn to communicate efficiently, as well as listen to each other more. The course concept I will use to help solve the conflict is a facultative method with a third party intervention. I am also hoping to make a facilitating reappraisal, where it might be possible to reframe the conflict. While discussing facilitating reappraisal we will dig deeper into discussing third party intervention, which I believe both parties may need. My rationale for this particular choice of conflict is based on the horrible living experience I went through last year. After the conflict, my roommates continued to struggle to get along and would argue over little things, when there seemed to be something deeper. It bothered me for a long time because it also impacted me. Our first year of living together everything went well, however it all started when our lease came to an end so we were going to have to resign. So my roommates and I ended up picking a different town house in the same apartment complex because it was bigger. The week before it came time to sign Kaia had said that she wanted a room on the third floor. Beth at some point in time had said she wanted a room with a window since the previous year she had not had one. Well, a week went by and the last day to sign was here. However, Kaia got up that morning and went ahead and signed because she was going to be gone all day bridesmaid shopping for her sister. When Beth went up to sign later she was upset because she had apparently wanted the third floor with the window and didn t ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 34. Critical Reflection Anyone can turn his weaknesses into strengths , I was reading the book David and Goliath by Malcolm Gladwell, and the book was about a battle between David, the underdog, and Goliath, the giant, and it explains how David defeated a giant by using his unconventional strategies. It also talks about how some underdogs can overcome their weaknesses; in addition, it also explains how power comes in different forms. Malcolm Gladwell proved his arguments by providing some real life experiences of different underdogs. According to Gladwell, an underdog is a person who is underestimated by everyone to perform any task successfully. Malcolm Gladwell also explains many other terms to prove his argument. I have experiences in my student life where I felt like an underdog. I felt disempowered because of my weaknesses. I still remember the first day of my English 838 class at College of San Mateo, and I felt so unconfident in the classroom because I was not a native speaker. There were also moments in my college classes where I felt empowered because of my strengths; for example, I felt empowered in my Math 120 and pre calculus class because I already knew the concepts of these classes. • 35. Questions On Class Hierarchy Analysis In other words, I started from the entry point and went through all the statements of method body. Based on Class Hierarchy Analysis definition, for each call site b.n( ) in the method block, if static type(b)=B, Then the targets of call site b.n( ) will be all concrete (non abstract) methods having the same signature as method B.n( ) and declared by B or by any concrete subclasses of B including B itself. According to this definition, I added reachable methods of each call site to the worklist then made edges from source to reachable methods. // initialization worklist.initialize() ; worklist while (worklist != empty) { // remove next method from worklist Method source = worklist.removeNext() ; // process statements in source method for each (stmt in source) { // if statement is a method/constructor call Method if (stmt is a InvokeStmt) { n = stmt.getInvokedMethod() ; List reachables = resolveDispatch(n) ; for each (Method target in reachables){ worklist.add (target) ; callgraph.addEdge (source  target) ; } // end of for} // end of if } // end of for} // end of while (A worklist approach for CHA algorithm) The method resolveDispatch( ) finds reachable methods of each call site b.n( ) and for computing reachable methods, at first I check if static type(b)= B and if B declares by signature method B.n( ), then reachable methods are method n( ) in class B and all methods having signature B.n( ) defined in concrete subclasses of B, else I have to look at the concrete ... Amin Maalouf unlike many writers of his era portrayed an adventure of a unique protagonist striving to find a significant meaning within his life. Maaloufs Book 1 clearly conveys the child hood of Hasan, in other words, Leo Africanus and how he perceived the events that took place which, as one could determine, shaped his life. Maalouf conveys this in such a unique manner, with literary devices which exalt the principle of cultural patriotism. This is done in such a way that further intentions can be extricated such as the defiance of typical stereotypes.
