Porter s Value Chain
2. a) The value chain
In order to determine the advantages of TMF in the competitive environment, Michael Porter s value
chain is used. Porter states that this competitive advantage can be obtained by lowering the production
costs and add value to the products or services. The chain is divided into primary and support
activities. The primary activities add value directly to the organisation, where the support activities
can add value indirectly to the company (Mind Tools, n.d.).
Primary activities
Inbound logistics The processes related to the storage, purchase, receiving and distributing of goods

To determine what organisational culture is present in the company, every member of the management
team is scored according to the information.
Huib van Balen is leading the organisation in a personal way. As a CEO, he is operating towards the
person organisation culture, as he launches friday afternoon drink and lunch sessions, to receive input
from his colleagues. This is not only for oriented to the employees, but also to the company itself,
because this input from the team, is reinforcing his ideas about TMF. Huib is aware of the strengths
and weaknesses of his management team, which is aiming at the person culture.
Cees van Balen is operating differently, due to the fact that he is leading a department. Cees is more
focussed on the tasks and work hard. As a result, they achieve to reach the highest staff turnover.
However, his employees do not always feel involved in the process and decision making. This is a
result of Cees behaving like The Boss . A preference in the power and task culture can be measured.
According to the given information (van Noord, 2014), This arises from a slight preference in role

Pacem In Terris
Pacem in Terris was read and accepted by readers outside the Catholic Church in a way that no other
encyclical had been. One reason for this was undoubtedly the charisma of John XXIII himself, who
addressed his encyclical not only to bishops, clergy and the faithful, but also to men of good will.
Another was living with the constant threat of the Cold War thinking about where and when it would
next lead.
This document was born in the mind of John XXIII in the fall of 1962 which was during the Cuban
missile crises when he was serving as the back channel between President John F. Kennedy and the
soviet leader Nikita Khrushchev who were urging to end the cold world war. The main reason of this
document was because for Pope, the missile crisis was a very prophetic moment. This was like a
message for peace to the superpowers who were locked in the world threatening contest.
The documents talks about the rights and duties for the people which includes the right to live, which

The Pope condemned authority from both the political right as well as the political left. The main
motive if Pope to do this was to make the people realize that they were responsible for changing their
societies and reducing the threat of war. Pope was mainly into promoting human rights which was
very much visible into the choice of subtopics which were included in the encyclical.
However, perhaps the most important reason why it was so readily accepted was the power of the
document itself. In 1965, Robert Hutchens, head of the Centre for Democratic Institutions in the
United States described Pacem in Terris as one of the most profound and significant documents of our

The Pony Express
The Pony Express was an extremely important event in history for three profoundly reasons. All
together, it helped the farther east states to keep in contact with the West with all the news of what was
happening, important documents, and sometimes small packages and family letters that were being
sent from different states. It helped for new and more improved ideas of how could the spreading of
news could be spread faster and safer. The good reason of keeping all the states in contact with all the
others is because families moved or members of a family moved to further states for jobs. Travelers
went in search for wealth and land and with the California Gold Rush people went to get a better life.
But with the rush to go find gold, that left many people in need to know what was going and if their
love ones found anything and what documents are being passed because of the California Gold rush.
Especially when California became a state it put extreme pressure upon the citizens, business, and all
miners alike for electing U.S government representatives. Furthermore people wanted to keep in touch
with their friends, family, and companies. As the tremendous threat of the Civil War about to break out
and the Southern states rebelling because of the refusing to give up slavery and with other things

Paradise Ghetto In The Holocaust
Theresienstadt: Paradise Ghetto When looking back at the Holocaust, the noun paradise may not be
used to label Ghettos like Lódz or Warsaw. Adolf Hitler, the Führer of Germany, considered the
Theresienstadt Ghetto a gift to the Jews because it was considered one of the more culturally freeing
concentration camps. Even though this concentration camp was more lenient on the rules regarding
cultural expression, the Jews transported there quickly found that it was still part of Hitler s final
solution of the Jewish question. Starting in June of 1940, the Nazis took control over Bohemia and
Moravia, regions close to the fortress town of Terezín, Czechoslovakia. Upon seeing the land, Terezín
was seen to have a purpose for the Germans that were threefold. One of them was to build a holding
point for most of the deported Jews. Another purpose was to be a transit camp to transport Jews to
extermination camps. Finally, it was mainly used to create a façade of the extermination of Jews at
concentration camps the Nazi government established across Eastern Europe. ... Show more content

A Research Study On The School Fire Occurred On Public Land
Introduction The first question to be addressed in this study is, will there be varying tree seedling
species diversity in relation to varying levels of burn severity? My hypothesis for this question is that
we will see the highest tree species diversity where we see a moderate level of burn severity. The
second question of the study asks, did the presence of salvage logging lead to a difference in the tree
seedling densities as compared to unlogged sites? My hypothesis for this question is that there will be
a greater density of tree species in the salvage logged site than the unlogged site.
Methods
The School Fire occurred on public land in Washington s Umatilla National Forest in August, 2005. It
burned approximately 21,000 ha of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Once sites were selected, site specific measurements were then recorded including the elevation (m),
percent slope of transects, aspect (in magnetic degrees), and the latitude and longitude, using a GPS
for accuracy. Sampling on logged sites was done using 30 m belt transects extending out at varying
widths depending on stand density. At low seedling stand densities belts were extended out to 6 m (3
m on each side of line), while at high seedling densities belt widths measured 2 m (1 m each side of
line). On unlogged sites belt transects also varied with densities. On sample sites that were unburned
with low densities (site code ULU), belt lengths measured 10 m and widths of either 2 m or 1 m. Sites
with high severity and high densities (HHU) were measured with either 15m or 10 m belt lengths with
2 m belt widths. Once belt transect lengths and belt widths were established, measurements were
recorded. Since this paper focuses on tree seedling and saplings, methods of larger tree measurements
and understory canopy cover measurements will not be discussed. Tree seedlings and saplings were
recorded only if they fell within the area encompassed by the belt transect length and width. If they
did, the four letter species code was recorded per individual seedling (ex: PIPO for ponderosa pine),

Positive Impact Of The Roman Republic
The Greeks, made up of Athenians and Spartans, and the Romans, led by the Roman Republic and
Roman Empire, ruled present day Middle East between 4th and 5th centuries BCE. In the Twelve
Tables, it s clear that the Roman Republic killed those who do wrong (Doc 5). Meanwhile, the
Athenians controlled their citizens through respect and appreciation of each citizens individuality
(Doc 2). Both of the governments saw positive and negative impacts. While the Romans deserve
credit for their accomplishments in government, the Greeks more effectively controlled their citizens,
and saw more positive effects than the Romans. The citizens of the Greek city state Athens were more
willing to cooperate with the Athenian government because they weren t oppressed (Doc 2). This
conclusion can be drawn from Document 2, Enjoying Global History, written by Henry Abraham and
Irwin Pfeffer as a part of the Amsco School Publications in 2006. Abraham and Pfeffer wanted to
portray that Athens was a strong city state, since they did not list any of its negatives, which might
bias the junior high age students it was intended for. In Greece, positive impact of free thought and
independence is an opposite of the Roman ruling. According to the Twelve Tables, the Roman
Republic controlled its citizens by threatening wrong doers with death (Doc 5). In Amnesty
International s 2005 report on the death penalty, titled Facts and figures on the death penalty, 97% of

The Confessions Of St Augustine Essay
Throughout mankind s existence, people have struggled with good and evil. The struggle began with
the fall of man in Genesis 2. St. Augustine addresses this issue in his book, The Confessions of St.
Augustine. In this book, He discusses God character, man s free will, the causes of evil, and the
struggle between how can a loving God allow evil to exist in the world. In order to understand
Augustine s research, one must first understand where does evil come from. Evil is the lack of
goodness or choosing to not do things God s way. Evil was not created by God, but evil is the result of
man s free will through sin. Augustine states that, For it is obvious that corruption in no way injures
our God, by no inclination, by no necessity, by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This action clearly shows how free will directly correlate with sin. Free will is the choice to act against
God s perfect plan, or Eve s choice to eat from the tree, and by deciding to go against God s plan she
fell into sin. Without free will, people would not have the choice to act for or against God. God s
choice to give people free will allowed people the option to pursue him.
Augustine continues his research with his theory on why God allows evil. In his book, he states that,
All things are good even if they are corrupted. They could not be corrupted if they were supremely
good, but unless they were good they could not be corrupted. If they were supremely good, they
would be incorruptible; if they were not good at all, there would be nothing in them to be corrupted.
For corruption harms; but unless it could diminish goodness; it could not harm (118). God allows evil
because, through evil, the greatest good can come. By the possibility of evil, God s just plan and His
mercies can prevail and shine through. Examples include any natural disaster, mass shooting, or
terrorist attack. Through these evil and wicked acts, godliness is able to prevail by Godly people
reaching out to help those struggling, mourning, dying, or abandoned. Through evil deeds, God is
utmostly glorified because His people reach out to those hurting and share the gospel of His love and
truth (Psalm 115:1). God s allowance of evil allows for

Complications Of Obesity In America
Over time, America has become the most overweight country in the world. The lifestyle of having
home cooked meals every night has changed into the lifestyle of having people drive to fast food
places and grab something quick for dinner without thinking whether or not it is a healthy choice.
With many Americans realizing the obesity rate is increasing in both adults and children, many are
trying to act upon it. Whether it is through a New Year s resolution to lose weight, or The First Lady s
effort to change school lunches, more people are finally beginning to realize the difference between
being overweight and underweight. Obesity is defined as a condition characterized by the excessive
accumulation and storage of fat in the body ( Obesity ). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some behavioral risk factors for those who are overweight include coronary heart disease, stroke,
certain cancers, hypertension, and type 2 diabetes (Kruger). On the other hand, underweight people
face risk factors such as malnutrition[,]...osteoporosis, [and vitamin deficiency] (Lee). Similarly, death
and a decrease in life expectancy are one of the risk factors that both overweight and underweight
share in common. An expert in this field, Judy Kruger, explains how ...risk factors for and
consequences of excess weight in older adults [are getting] critical because people do not take these
risk factors seriously enough to lower the statistics. Through these risk factors, it is evident that being
overweight is more dangerous than being underweight. Some starve themselves to prevent obesity as
some gets out of control eating a lot, but either way both cases are just one step forward to death. Even
though both types of obesity are different, they both share the same idea as well as similar risk factors
that are gone unnoticed. Obesity not only has undesirable appearances and risk factors, but also makes

1.0 INTRODUCTION
1.1 CONVENTIONAL AND UNCONVENTIONAL OIL
For centuries, oil and natural gas have been drilled and mined using conventional means, by digging
in oil rich sandstones, conventional rocks. Due to the permeability of these rocks, it is easy for the oil
and gas to flow to the surface from well bores and be collected for commercial use. But recently,
concerns have been raised regarding the over exploitation of these resources, as various reports show
that with the current level of exploration, these reserves will soon be depleted. ... Show more content

The difference between these two sources conventional and unconventional oil is in the type of rock
and depth of drilling, as well as the method used in bringing up the oil and gas. Whereas conventional
oil and gas makes use of vertically drilled bores and shallow depths, unconventional oil is drilled at
depths farther below in the earth s surface (depths of up to 10,000 feet have been recorded), by
making use of horizontal bores (figure 1).
1.2 HYDRAULIC FRACTURING FOR OIL AND GAS
Prior to what is today known as Hydraulic Fracturing or Fracking , in the 19th century, water wells
and bores had been fractured using explosives to create high permeability for both water and oil wells.
Over the years, the technology has been refined and improved into what is used today for exploration
in Shale rocks due to their low permeability.
Fracking is the process of pumping large gallons of water, mixed with sand and a cocktail of chemical
compounds into existing crevices of underground oil and gas reserves, under very high pressure,
thereby creating fissures and cracks in the rocks and hence improving the porosity and permeability of
the rock formation. Figure 1: Conventional Gas reservoirs and Unconventional Gas Reservoirs (Shale
Rock)
Naturally occurring veins in the rock formations are used in the conventional sources to tap the oil, but
in unconventional sources, these veins are either not large enough, or are too far apart and not

the people who lived in the Elizabethan era. Elizabethan entertainment was popular when there was
something to celebrate and it often occurred nightly, but there were different types of entertainment
among the classes in England. Rich would do things which the poor couldn t do or afford such as
watch plays, go hunting, jousts among knights, and more. The poor or the middle class would simply

More Severe Child Discipline
Child discipline has been a heated topic of debate in recent years. Many older people in past
generations support more severe child discipline, citing that it teaches kids proper behavior better than
more modern teaching styles. However, younger parents and experts are saying that severe child
discipline can have long lasting negative effects. The issue of child abuse has been brought up many
times in these arguments. There is a fine line between an acceptable spanking and child abuse.

It is shocking how many things we take for granted. We plan out our day, and don t think twice about

Reflection Paper On The Solar Eclipse
While being a very excited fan of Mythology, Astrology and this year s upcoming solar eclipse, I
decided to embark on a journey with my two daughters, Jazmine (4 and proud of it), Layla (terrible
2.5 s) Goins to experience the eclipse at its fullest in Totality town (Andrews) North Carolina. Second
thought s about this were weighing heavily in my head. Especially in the wake of the recent tragedy
that took place in Charlottesville, Virginia. But being that this was a very important historical moment,
I really wanted this experience not only for myself but for my daughters also. So with out any more
hesitation, I said a quick prayer and set forward towards my destination. 2.5 hrs later we were in a
thriving community where everyone shared the same enthusiasm that I did for the upcoming event. So
with out further ado, I unfolded my daughters blanket under a shade tree so they would be
comfortable, and commenced a count down for the event. After settling in we were greeted by a fellow
stargazer whom asked offered a pair of glasses to my daughters in order to view the eclipse. Without
hesitation, they replied, received their glasses, and gave her the biggest hug their short arms could
muster. Moments later, I was greeted by Stephen St. Claire, An artist from Asheville, North Carolina
whom with a warm welcome, invited my daughters and myself to join himself and his wife Joy St.
Claire, under the trees where everyone else was, and not alone. Understanding immediately the
potential and power in this, I agreed, gathered my things and shuffled my daughters in their direction.
Once we made it there, my daughters as always, hugged, greeted, and told them their names and ages.
In like fashion, they were bombarded with the same. Once we were settled sitting down, Joy being the
SAINT that she is immediately started interacting with my daughters as if she had known them their
whole life, and vice versa. While Steven and I had a very interesting, wholehearted, truthful,
fellowship amongst ourselves, about what s going on in today s world. As our conversation continued,
he asked if I felt as if there was a change from then until now. Anxious to convey my answer
accurately and correctly, I told

Analysis Of Hannah Coulter
In his book Hannah Coulter, Wendell Berry explores how the trials and tribulations one experiences
shape them from the beginning of life until death. Janne Teller writes, Everything begins only to end.
The moment you were born you begin to die. That s how it is with everything In detailing Hannah
Coulter s life, Berry shows how the era she grew up in, the people surrounding her, and various life
events formed the qualities and characteristics of the woman she became.
Beery Starts his exploration of how a person is shaped by their life by starting at, of course the
beginning. The main character, Hannah Coulter is born in 1922 in a fictional place called Hargrave,
Kentucky. She is an only child. living on a small family farm with her ... Show more content on

And Grandmam,as I have seen in looking back, was the decider of my fate. She shaped my life,
without of course knowing what my life would be. She taught me many things that I was going to
need to know, without either of us knowing I would need to know them. She made the connections
that made my life, as you will see. If it hadn t been for her what would my life have been? (11) An
example of molding and shaping ones values lies in the theme of education throughout the book.
Education was important to Grandmam because she only went to the 8th grade. So, wanting a better
life for her granddaughter, she ensured Hannah not only graduated high school but was valedictorian
as well. Hannah, in turn, ensured that her children continued farther by graduating college themselves.
Transition from being a child to being an adult. The certain age at which the transition takes place as
does the nature of change. The choice to place Hannah Coulter s story as growing up and coming of
age in the 20s 40s allows the reader to consider for themselves the contrast between that culture and
one of today. After graduation Hannah was gently pushed out of the nest and expected to be self
sufficient, finding a job and a husband. This was accepted and even expected by Hannah, unlike in
today s era in which children often remain with their families well into adulthood. While knowing that
Hannah had the support,

Smart Technology And Student Learning
11. I used many different resources, including technology, to enhance student learning. This was done
through Smart technology allowing my students to go on a virtual fieldtrip. They were able to learn
more about the three environments and the types of animals that live in those environments.
12. During this lesson today, my students exhibited behaviors that showed me they were engaged.
They listened to the expectations well and did exactly what I requested of them to do. They were
actively listening and participating during the station time.
13.I was able to see that the students were focusing, responding, asking questions, volunteering, etc.
throughout the lesson. I also gave formative assessments throughout the lesson as well as a final
assessment. One example of a student s response would be when my students were participating in
small group discussions with peers. I went to the station this student was at and asked the student how
they knew what animals belonged in the desert environment. This student was able to articulate a
response to me which demonstrated learning. Additionally, I did interviews with the students as a
formative assessment. The final assessment took place when the students participated in the
SmartBoard matching activity at the end of the lesson.
14. There were different ways I planned and managed my time and routines such as transitions and
pacing so that instructional time was maximized. First of all, my class is familiar with transitioning

Reflection On Clinical Placement
DESCRIPTION During my clinical placement, I have done the nursing standard 2 which is engaging
in therapeutic and professional relationships. An example of one event in my placement where I have
done this standard is when doing interviews in my two week community placement at the Community
Rehabilitation in Armadale Hospital. For my reflection, I will be using the Gibbs Reflective Cycle
(1988). FEELINGS I am normally a very shy person so when we were told that we were to do
interviews on the first day of my community placement I felt scared. I did not know how to approach
people confidently let alone do an interview. I knew I could do it but I was not confident enough. I
was already feeling overwhelmed because it was my first time to be placed in a hospital.
EVALUATION The good thing in my experience would be that I got to have the experience of doing
interviews and I actually enjoyed it. I also gained more confidence in interacting with my patients. The
not so good thing would be that I have gained confidence in talking to my patients but not the staff or
the people I was working with. I was still very shy in communicating with them. ANALYSIS I have
learnt to do interviews during my placement. Because I took that step out of my comfort zone I
believe that I have learnt a lot. I have learnt to take a step out of my shell and try. I have learnt that it is
not worth getting worked up over doing interviews and talking to people, as it will be a major part of

Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia ( All )
Acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL), a malignant disorder of lymphoid progenitor cells, is the most
common hematological malignancy affects children, accounting for 25 30% of all childhood cancers
with peak prevalence between the ages of 2 and 5 years [1]. The causes of pediatric acute leukemias
are still not well known, the identification of causes and prevention/early intervention is clearly a
worthwhile goal [2]. Previous studies have demonstrated that the interaction between genetic
background, lifestyle, and these environmental factors play a critical role in the development of ALL
in children [3]. MicroRNAs are a class of small (17 25 nucleotides) single stranded noncoding RNAs
that function as a sequence targeted modifiers of gene expression through translational repression [4].
The miRNAs are important key regulators of normal hematopoiesis and their disruption could lead to
leukemogenesis [5]. Mutations like single nucleotide polymorphisms located in microRNA binding
sites can cause disruption in microRNA target interactions, leading to deregulation of the target gene
expression [6]. One of these SNPs is the one found within the miR 502 binding site in the 3′ UTR of
the SET8 gene. SET8 (also known as PR SET7; located on chromosome 12q24.31) encodes a histone
H4 Lys 20 specific methyltransferase which plays an important role in cell cycle dependent
transcriptional silencing and mitotic regulation [7]. There are about 129 variants of the SET8 gene

fantasies, sexual urges, or behaviors involving cross dressing and b) the fantasies, sexual urges, or
behaviors cause clinically significant distress or impairment in social, occupational, or other important
areas of functioning. There mey be an increased risk for sexual acting out for example, subjects have

behavior based on self induced cerebral anoxia by hanging or suffocation during masturbation. In one
study results indicated that 36 men and 5 women ever having experienced sexual arousal from actual

associated with potentially criminal paraphilic sexual behavior such as voyeuristic and exhibitionistic
acts, and there was a non significant trend suggesting that childhood sexual victimization was related
to transvestic fetishism. Was there any research located linking bullying and paraphilia? Explain

To What Extent Is the Conservative Party Still Committed...
TO WHAT EXTENT IS THE CONSERVATIVE PARTY STILL COMMITTED TO ITS
TRADITIONAL PRINCIPLES?
Since 1979 the conservative party has undergone significant changes from the traditional conservative
party which focused on ideas about human nature, order and pragmatism, first with new right
conservatism under Thatcher then with the current conservative party. The current conservative party
however, can be seen to still be committed to its traditional conservative principles such as Euro
scepticism and that they remain largely traditionalist. However there are many ways in which the
conservative party has changed such as taxation, education and the welfare state.
One way the conservative party has changed is through taxation. Traditionally, the ... Show more

Another way the party has deviated from traditional conservative principles is through education. In
contrast with the traditional elitist view on education by the conservatives, under Cameron there has
been a strong emphasis on the idea that everybody should be able to go to university if their ability
allows them too, supporting labours policies on scholarships to students from disadvantaged
backgrounds and also attempting to establish more apprenticeship jobs and work experience jobs to
encourage young people who perhaps wouldn t go to university to learn skills that would provide a
better future for them. However, the fact remains that the vast majority of Cameron s conservatives
graduated from private schools which does make the overview of the party seem very elitist but, its
policies and support for scholarship programmes seem to challenge this idea and show that perhaps
the conservative party has changed from that traditional view.
Another thing that shows that the conservative party has stuck to its traditional principles is the fact
that the party is still very traditionalist. The conservative party has always been very traditionalist in
its views and in many ways it still is today, little or no comment is made on social issues such as gay
adoption, the party

The Red Room was the earlier of the two stories written in 1896 by H.G. Wells and The Darkness Out

The titles of both stories suggest that fear or horror will play a part. The Darkness Out There generates
an eerie feeling by not defining a specific threat but leaving it open to the imagination. The Red Room

What Does The Chrysanthemums Symbolism
The story The Chrysanthemums by John Steinbeck, like many stories by this author, is loaded with
symbolism and concepts about human nature. Each description of characters, places, and physical
aspects is written in a way that is simple to understand, but one should not be tricked by his ordinary
words since there is always a greater meaning behind them. In this particular story, if one considers
the period of time when the story was written, which was the nineteen thirties, is perceived how
Steinbeck presents the readers with an uncommon matter that not many writers wrote about. That
matter, being, the topic of women and their sexuality, which is the main focus of the story, in a time
when a woman s life is dominated by men and as a consequence, many women are deprived of their
personal, social and sexual fulfillment. These deprivations in a woman s life are illustrated within the
descriptions and events that occur around the primary symbol in this story, the flower chrysanthemum,
which as the story advances, reveals itself to symbolize Elisa s femininity, her fulfillment as a woman
and even her.
Elisa s masculine descriptions such as her face being lean and strong, her body being blocked and
heavy, and the man s black hat that she is wearing, which in a way, they hide the feminine side of her,
but in another way they also emphasize how she could be doing a different, or more challenging, job
in her life than just cultivating flowers. In the story, she is more

In MDS/MPN cases, either normal karyotype or MDS related chromosome abnormalities have been
reported. A high percentage of MDS/MPN patients harbor identifiable mutations in genes recurrently
mutated across myeloid neoplasms when undergoing either targeted panel mutation analysis or whole
exome sequencing with next generation sequencing technology but no disease defining mutations
have been reported [9]. Mutation analysis has emerged as an important ancillary test to accompany a
diagnosis of MDS/MPN; especially in the absence of cytogenetic chromosome abnormalities because
these may serve as a critical clonality marker confirming its neoplastic nature essential for the
diagnosis of a myeloid neoplasm. CMML, among the most well documented in this group, harbor
mutations in genes that include SRSF2, TET2, and ASXL1 in up to 50% of cases, respectively[9, 10].
Mutations in ASXL1 have also been reported as an independent prognostic factor along with other
clinicopathologic parameters in a multivariable model [10]. Mutation analysis including these genes
can greatly facilitate the diagnosis and prognostic stratification of CMML [11]. However, a more
conservative approach toward the mutation analysis results is warranted in older individuals lacking
definitive evidence of a myeloid neoplasm, since it is known the presence of mutations in similar set
of genes can be identified in such patients [12,

Assignment: Personal Strategic Selling Plan
Student: Hongxiang Wang, ID c0638276
Submission date: 2016 1 21
Executive Summary
In this case, I will assume the Tesla AUTO as the mock employer. I will focus their Roadster product
for analysis and demonstrate my concept of strategic selling plan. All the strategy will base on STP
and lead to marketing mix (4P). I will analyze the characters of customers group. Before we continue,
we must have an overview what Tesla is about to continue on the same path in the future.

In order to further their control of the EV market, we have developed a strategy to produce an entry
level, luxury electronic vehicle that maintains Tesla s core values which allows them to compete on a
broader scale with electronic vehicles and hybrids. After taking everything into consideration, we
believe that our strategy will allow Tesla to gain market share, gain brand awareness, generate brand
loyalty and earn profits through our new programs. We have developed the following plan for Tesla:
We will develop a brand new, entry level luxury sedan that is fully electric and named the Gen3. It
will still have the core components to a Tesla vehicle, but created with a budget in mind to grow the
potential target market. This will allow more customers to get their hands on a fully electric vehicle at
an affordable price, while still being able to grow the Tesla brand. We have also introduced a variety
of programs in order to improve brand loyalty as well as giving more options for purchase, including
Amplify Your Ride and the Test Drive America campaigns. We will also launch an integrated marking
campaign with advertisements in magazines and though web sources. The first car will ship in early
2015 and will be issued to those who reserved the vehicle in the second half of 2014. We will host the
Test Drive America campaign in the second half of the year after the car has been fully announced.
This will give potential drivers the chance to

Interpreting The Kuleshov Effect In The Empty Hearse
Editing is the joining of different shots to create meaning, and can be one of the most significant
instruments of effect in film (Pudovkin). Russian film theorists Vsevolod Pudovkin and Lev Kuleshov
have coined specific methods of editing which can be employed in order to reveal a deeper meaning
(Sampson, Lecture 6.1). In the episode The Empty Hearse in the television show Sherlock by Mark
Gatiss and Steven Moffat, the use of the Kuleshov effect, leitmotif, parallelism, and simultaneity all
work to emphasize the innate connection between best friends Sherlock Holmes and John Watson,
proving that they are the perfect pair. The use of the Kuleshov Effect in this episode allows the
audience to feel John s despair when thinking about Sherlock, ... Show more content on

Simultaneity, also known as cross cutting, shows two events happening at the same time by repeatedly
cutting between each event (Sampson, Lecture 6.1). John becomes livid after finding out that Sherlock
had been lying to him this entire time, thus allowing him to grieve, and decides he wants nothing to do
with him anymore. Thus, they both try to go on with their lives, as Sherlock searches for a new case,
and John continues to see patients. However, this sequence cross cuts between the two lives so that
they explicitly connect to each other. When Mrs. Hudson asks Sherlock about John, he replies, He
made his position quite clear, which then cuts to a shot of John s middle finger as he is putting on
gloves. Then, it goes back to Sherlock and Mrs. Hudson, and she asks, What did he say? to which
Sherlock starts replying but gets cut off at F which then cuts to John saying Cough? to one of his
patients. Through the use of simultaneity in this episode, it clearly shows that even if Sherlock and
John try to have separate lives, they are still connected because the two are meant to be

U.s. Policies Towards Climate Change
U.S. policies towards climate change has continued to develop throughout the administrations of
Ronald Reagan, George H.W. Bush, Bill Clinton, and currently Barack Obama. In this paper I will
focus specifically on Clinton. One of the Clinton administration s main goals was to make the United
States the global leader in protecting the environment. Throughout Clinton s administration from 1993
to 2001, the ambitious goals of environmental protection had many highs and lows. The United States
had to make decisions about how it would go about tackling climate change and what roles of other
countries would play. There was opposition in congress about how the U.S. economy would fare with
many of the ideas the Clinton administration was coming ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As, arguably, the only global power at the time, the United States spearheaded the dialogue on climate
change. At some points the United States has trouble convincing other nations to come on board. This
can be seen in documents three and four, where Japan is having some trepidations over industrialized
nations involvement in climate change versus developing nations. It can especially be seen in
document three where they clearly have different perspectives on where they see climate change in the
long term. Japan is also skeptical of many of the emission trading s the United States takes part in
because they are not quite sure how it would work and what position they would play. The Japanese
Ministry of Foreign Affairs was particularly worried about China s role in this agreement also, they
did not want to carry out strict reductions while China continued to pollute the air around them. In
comparison, document nine also centers around the United States as it tries to get the most out of the
present climate change agreement, by working with Ambassador Raul A Estrada Oyuela. Documents
three and four are more focused on the beginning of various climate change treaties the United States
was trying to conceive. While document 4 focuses on a climate agreement after Kyoto that would be
in the United States best interest.
Furthermore, Document one discusses the United States goals in reducing greenhouse emissions. It
lays out how to achieve success in

One Blind Man To Another In Raymond Carver s Cathedral
Cathedral: One Blind Man to Another
In Raymond Carver s Cathedral, the reader is given a glimpse into the precarious relationship between
the narrator and his wife. The narrator shares his heavily critical point of view on the forthcoming visit
from his wife s old friend whom he calls the blind man later known as Robert . Specifically, Carver
uses first person narrative to put the reader in the mindset of the speaker who although keeps
information hidden about himself, eventually exposes a substantial amount of character through his
commentary. Slowly but surely he divulges his tremendously insecure, stubborn, and immature nature
when it comes to matters of exhibiting empathy for others and most importantly obtaining the
emotional depth for it. The narrator seems to have formed a bias against Robert based off of his
knowledge of him through his wife s stories of her time with him. Beginning the passage, he expresses
his disdain for the blind man visiting him and his wife saying he isn t enthusiastic about his visit and
his being blind bothered [him] to the point of outright stating that it was not something [he] looked
forward to (p.209). Maintaining the feeling of an obvious dislike towards Robert, he goes to explain
how Robert touched his wife s face, even her ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, as the story closes, the narrator lets Robert guide him, finally allowing himself to be
vulnerable so much, that shortly after he experiences an epiphanic moment insinuating a possible
change of heart. As a whole, the narrator s transition from a cold, rigid, tone into that of alluded
enlightenment gives hope to the readers in that it s never too late to transform your perspective on the

Comparing Disney And Pixar
Since this was your only feature film with Disney, how did that come about?
You usually don t get to get too close to Disney and Pixar like that unless you re a celebrity or you re
somebody on the inside or you know somebody. A lot of the journeyman work is done with a loop
group, and they pick up different characters. Friends of mine do that, and they do great.
The role came to me through my agent. It was Project X of course. And it was a paragraph. It was an
old time radio announcer, and I do all those from different decades. I m a big fan of those old radio
shows. So I just sent it in and forgot all about it. And a few weeks later, the agent calls, Haaay! That s
her voice when she s happy. So they flew me up to PIXAR, and I recorded up there and did a session
here at Warner Bros. with Pete Docter and the crew on the line as well. And even then, it wasn t
guaranteed that I was gonna make the cut cause it s PIXAR. Then we found out not too long before
the opening that in fact I was a big part of the beginning of the film, and I was invited to the
Hollywood premiere. {laughs} Welcome to Hollywood! That was really cool. Jon Voight sat right
behind me in the premiere of the movie, and I could hear him crying, and I was like, This movie is
making Jon Voight cry. Very, very touching moment there. You could hear a pin drop in ... Show more

Analysis Of I m Ridiculous
The next afternoon, as promised, Joan returned to Perceval s chambers for a visit. Unfortunately, no
matter how hard she willed away the thoughts, she couldn t stop herself from thinking about Perceval
s head buried between her legs, or her mouth working his erection. Her heart pounded just imagining
it and her face felt warm. In the past, she might have thought such acts were a little scary or
overwhelming. But imagining engaging in such activities with Perceval was more exciting than
anything else.
Still, there was a time and place to have such thoughts, and now was not the time.
I m ridiculous, Joan admonished herself under her breath as she neared the castle. Pull yourself
together, Joan.
She approached the guard and went through the same process as the day before: announcing herself to
the guard, declaring she had no weapons, and stating her business. Joan was then permitted entry.
As she ascended the tower stairs, she had a wild idea: What would Perceval do if I pushed him into the
bed and unlaced his trousers like Carina did to Sir Michael, and then...
She shook off the images as she knocked on Perceval s chamber door and did her best to not think of
cucumbers.
Come, said Perceval, answering her knock.
Terrible word choice! Joan thought.
She pushed open the heavy wooden door and entered. Today, Perceval wore his tunic and he sat at the
dining table reading a book. Joan was thrilled to see him more up and about, but a part of her had
hoped to catch another

The Morning in College Essay
The Morning
Tuesday morning is the busiest time in my week. As I wake up thirty minutes before the class begins,
time always forces me to prepare for the class quickly. Actually I want to eat breakfast with a cup of
coffee but I do not have time to do so. I regret that I stayed up late last night.
Tuesday is a day that I have to wake up early because I am taking a class at nine thirty. At nine o?
clock, the cell phone, clock radio, and TV wake me up at once. On the radio, NPR news is on the air
but I turn it off quickly. From the TV, ESPN broadcasts the results of yesterday?s sports. Even though
I like sports, I am so sleepy that I cannot pay attention to result and switch the TV set off. Finally, the
cell phone wakes me up but I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I put it in the coffee filter carefully. When I pour water into the coffee maker, I spill it on the table.
However, I leave it as it is. Then I go to bathroom and wash my face and teeth. After I look in the
mirror, I realize that I have bad hair day as ever. But I do not care. I will put on a cap. I need to wear
contact lenses. This is an inconvenient thing in my morning. I really envy people who do not have to
wear lenses or glasses. I can not do anything without them. I go back my room again, and then I
change clothes from pajama. As I return to the kitchen, the good smell of coffee fills it. Now, the
coffee is ready to be drunk. When I go out to smoke with a cup of coffee, I see that a few students
leave their rooms for classes. I am always curious when the other students wake up. I am sure that I
get up much later than students who take class at nine thirty do. I need to change my lifestyle and
wake up earlier eight thirty at the latest. During smoking, this is the only time that I can relax in the
morning. I find two fliers on the wall. One of the two reads ?SNOW REMOVAL? in large font so we
have to move cars from somewhere to the other place. I do not have a car so I do not read further. On
the other one, a dancing man and woman are drawn. During about five minutes, another couple of
students head to school. I throw a cigarette butt in the ?smoking oasis?. As textbooks are packed on
my back, I am ready to attend class. My roommates do not lock the

Richard Nixon s Involvement In The Watergate Scandal
On August 9, 1974, Richard Nixon resigned from his post as President of the United States of America
in ignominy. His resignation was prompted by mounting accusations of his involvement in the
Watergate scandal, perhaps the biggest scandal the country has ever seen. The Watergate scandal was a
series of events started by the break in to the Democratic Party headquarters by members connected to
the Nixon campaign with the orders to steal confidential plans. President Gerald Ford later issued a
presidential pardon, but many Americans could not forgive Nixon for his involvement. The Watergate
Scandal distracted the history books from one of the most productive presidencies in history.

Nixon s accomplishments in domestic affairs still have a positive effect today. The tensions of racism
were calmed with the desegregation of schools. Women gained more rights and respect. Ultimately,
these domestic programs may be remembered longer than his currently better known activities in the
realm of foreign policy, and they may even minimize his negative Watergate image. In any case, they
represent the most positive characteristics of the Nixon phenomenon. In fact, the Age of Nixon that
would end in the denouement of disgrace, actually reached its climax in the area of domestic reform
(Hoff 144).
His actions overseas also changed the world for the better. He effectively ended the Vietnam War,
calmed the tensions with the Soviets during the Cold War, and avoided a second Cuban Missile

  • 2. Porter s Value Chain 2. a) The value chain In order to determine the advantages of TMF in the competitive environment, Michael Porter s value chain is used. Porter states that this competitive advantage can be obtained by lowering the production costs and add value to the products or services. The chain is divided into primary and support activities. The primary activities add value directly to the organisation, where the support activities can add value indirectly to the company (Mind Tools, n.d.). Primary activities Inbound logistics The processes related to the storage, purchase, receiving and distributing of goods internally. To determine what organisational culture is present in the company, every member of the management team is scored according to the information. Huib van Balen is leading the organisation in a personal way. As a CEO, he is operating towards the person organisation culture, as he launches friday afternoon drink and lunch sessions, to receive input from his colleagues. This is not only for oriented to the employees, but also to the company itself, because this input from the team, is reinforcing his ideas about TMF. Huib is aware of the strengths and weaknesses of his management team, which is aiming at the person culture. Cees van Balen is operating differently, due to the fact that he is leading a department. Cees is more focussed on the tasks and work hard. As a result, they achieve to reach the highest staff turnover. However, his employees do not always feel involved in the process and decision making. This is a result of Cees behaving like The Boss . A preference in the power and task culture can be measured. • 3. Pacem In Terris Pacem in Terris was read and accepted by readers outside the Catholic Church in a way that no other encyclical had been. One reason for this was undoubtedly the charisma of John XXIII himself, who addressed his encyclical not only to bishops, clergy and the faithful, but also to men of good will. Another was living with the constant threat of the Cold War thinking about where and when it would next lead. This document was born in the mind of John XXIII in the fall of 1962 which was during the Cuban missile crises when he was serving as the back channel between President John F. Kennedy and the soviet leader Nikita Khrushchev who were urging to end the cold world war. The main reason of this document was because for Pope, the missile crisis was a very prophetic moment. This was like a message for peace to the superpowers who were locked in the world threatening contest. The documents talks about the rights and duties for the people which includes the right to live, which includes the proper ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Pope condemned authority from both the political right as well as the political left. The main motive if Pope to do this was to make the people realize that they were responsible for changing their societies and reducing the threat of war. Pope was mainly into promoting human rights which was very much visible into the choice of subtopics which were included in the encyclical. However, perhaps the most important reason why it was so readily accepted was the power of the document itself. • 4. The Pony Express The Pony Express was an extremely important event in history for three profoundly reasons. All together, it helped the farther east states to keep in contact with the West with all the news of what was happening, important documents, and sometimes small packages and family letters that were being sent from different states. It helped for new and more improved ideas of how could the spreading of news could be spread faster and safer. The good reason of keeping all the states in contact with all the others is because families moved or members of a family moved to further states for jobs. Travelers went in search for wealth and land and with the California Gold Rush people went to get a better life. But with the rush to go find gold, that left many people in need to know what was going and if their love ones found anything and what documents are being passed because of the California Gold rush. Especially when California became a state it put extreme pressure upon the citizens, business, and all miners alike for electing U.S government representatives. Furthermore people wanted to keep in touch with their friends, family, and companies. As the tremendous threat of the Civil War about to break out and the Southern states rebelling because of the refusing to give up slavery and with other things causing the Civil War to happen. • 5. Paradise Ghetto In The Holocaust Theresienstadt: Paradise Ghetto When looking back at the Holocaust, the noun paradise may not be used to label Ghettos like Lódz or Warsaw. Adolf Hitler, the Führer of Germany, considered the Theresienstadt Ghetto a gift to the Jews because it was considered one of the more culturally freeing concentration camps. Even though this concentration camp was more lenient on the rules regarding cultural expression, the Jews transported there quickly found that it was still part of Hitler s final solution of the Jewish question. Starting in June of 1940, the Nazis took control over Bohemia and Moravia, regions close to the fortress town of Terezín, Czechoslovakia. Upon seeing the land, Terezín was seen to have a purpose for the Germans that were threefold. One of them was to build a holding point for most of the deported Jews. Another purpose was to be a transit camp to transport Jews to extermination camps. Finally, it was mainly used to create a façade of the extermination of Jews at concentration camps the Nazi government established across Eastern Europe. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 6. A Research Study On The School Fire Occurred On Public Land Introduction The first question to be addressed in this study is, will there be varying tree seedling species diversity in relation to varying levels of burn severity? My hypothesis for this question is that we will see the highest tree species diversity where we see a moderate level of burn severity. The second question of the study asks, did the presence of salvage logging lead to a difference in the tree seedling densities as compared to unlogged sites? My hypothesis for this question is that there will be a greater density of tree species in the salvage logged site than the unlogged site. Methods The School Fire occurred on public land in Washington s Umatilla National Forest in August, 2005. It burned approximately 21,000 ha of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Once sites were selected, site specific measurements were then recorded including the elevation (m), percent slope of transects, aspect (in magnetic degrees), and the latitude and longitude, using a GPS for accuracy. Sampling on logged sites was done using 30 m belt transects extending out at varying widths depending on stand density. At low seedling stand densities belts were extended out to 6 m (3 m on each side of line), while at high seedling densities belt widths measured 2 m (1 m each side of line). On unlogged sites belt transects also varied with densities. On sample sites that were unburned with low densities (site code ULU), belt lengths measured 10 m and widths of either 2 m or 1 m. Sites with high severity and high densities (HHU) were measured with either 15m or 10 m belt lengths with 2 m belt widths. Once belt transect lengths and belt widths were established, measurements were recorded. Since this paper focuses on tree seedling and saplings, methods of larger tree measurements and understory canopy cover measurements will not be discussed. Tree seedlings and saplings were recorded only if they fell within the area encompassed by the belt transect length and width. If they did, the four letter species code was recorded per individual seedling (ex: PIPO for ponderosa pine), its status (1 if living, 0 if dead), height (cm) from ground level, and the number of internodes to determine approximate ... • 7. Positive Impact Of The Roman Republic The Greeks, made up of Athenians and Spartans, and the Romans, led by the Roman Republic and Roman Empire, ruled present day Middle East between 4th and 5th centuries BCE. In the Twelve Tables, it s clear that the Roman Republic killed those who do wrong (Doc 5). Meanwhile, the Athenians controlled their citizens through respect and appreciation of each citizens individuality (Doc 2). Both of the governments saw positive and negative impacts. While the Romans deserve credit for their accomplishments in government, the Greeks more effectively controlled their citizens, and saw more positive effects than the Romans. The citizens of the Greek city state Athens were more willing to cooperate with the Athenian government because they weren t oppressed (Doc 2). This conclusion can be drawn from Document 2, Enjoying Global History, written by Henry Abraham and Irwin Pfeffer as a part of the Amsco School Publications in 2006. Abraham and Pfeffer wanted to portray that Athens was a strong city state, since they did not list any of its negatives, which might bias the junior high age students it was intended for. In Greece, positive impact of free thought and independence is an opposite of the Roman ruling. According to the Twelve Tables, the Roman Republic controlled its citizens by threatening wrong doers with death (Doc 5). • 8. The Confessions Of St Augustine Essay Throughout mankind s existence, people have struggled with good and evil. The struggle began with the fall of man in Genesis 2. St. Augustine addresses this issue in his book, The Confessions of St. Augustine. In this book, He discusses God character, man s free will, the causes of evil, and the struggle between how can a loving God allow evil to exist in the world. In order to understand Augustine s research, one must first understand where does evil come from. Evil is the lack of goodness or choosing to not do things God s way. Evil was not created by God, but evil is the result of man s free will through sin. Augustine states that, For it is obvious that corruption in no way injures our God, by no inclination, by no necessity, by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This action clearly shows how free will directly correlate with sin. Free will is the choice to act against God s perfect plan, or Eve s choice to eat from the tree, and by deciding to go against God s plan she fell into sin. Without free will, people would not have the choice to act for or against God. God s choice to give people free will allowed people the option to pursue him. Augustine continues his research with his theory on why God allows evil. In his book, he states that, All things are good even if they are corrupted. They could not be corrupted if they were supremely good, but unless they were good they could not be corrupted. If they were supremely good, they would be incorruptible; if they were not good at all, there would be nothing in them to be corrupted. For corruption harms; but unless it could diminish goodness; it could not harm (118). God allows evil because, through evil, the greatest good can come. By the possibility of evil, God s just plan and His mercies can prevail and shine through. Examples include any natural disaster, mass shooting, or terrorist attack. Through these evil and wicked acts, godliness is able to prevail by Godly people reaching out to help those struggling, mourning, dying, or abandoned. Through evil deeds, God is utmostly glorified because His people reach out to those hurting and share the gospel of His love and truth (Psalm 115:1). God s allowance of evil allows for ... The lifestyle of having home cooked meals every night has changed into the lifestyle of having people drive to fast food places and grab something quick for dinner without thinking whether or not it is a healthy choice. With many Americans realizing the obesity rate is increasing in both adults and children, many are trying to act upon it. Whether it is through a New Year s resolution to lose weight, or The First Lady s effort to change school lunches, more people are finally beginning to realize the difference between being overweight and underweight. Obesity is defined as a condition characterized by the excessive accumulation and storage of fat in the body ( Obesity ). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... On the other hand, underweight people face risk factors such as malnutrition[,]...osteoporosis, [and vitamin deficiency] (Lee). Similarly, death and a decrease in life expectancy are one of the risk factors that both overweight and underweight share in common. An expert in this field, Judy Kruger, explains how ...risk factors for and consequences of excess weight in older adults [are getting] critical because people do not take these risk factors seriously enough to lower the statistics. Through these risk factors, it is evident that being overweight is more dangerous than being underweight. Some starve themselves to prevent obesity as some gets out of control eating a lot, but either way both cases are just one step forward to death. Even though both types of obesity are different, they both share the same idea as well as similar risk factors that are gone unnoticed. Due to the permeability of these rocks, it is easy for the oil and gas to flow to the surface from well bores and be collected for commercial use. But recently, concerns have been raised regarding the over exploitation of these resources, as various reports show that with the current level of exploration, these reserves will soon be depleted. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The difference between these two sources conventional and unconventional oil is in the type of rock and depth of drilling, as well as the method used in bringing up the oil and gas. Whereas conventional oil and gas makes use of vertically drilled bores and shallow depths, unconventional oil is drilled at depths farther below in the earth s surface (depths of up to 10,000 feet have been recorded), by making use of horizontal bores (figure 1). 1.2 HYDRAULIC FRACTURING FOR OIL AND GAS Prior to what is today known as Hydraulic Fracturing or Fracking , in the 19th century, water wells and bores had been fractured using explosives to create high permeability for both water and oil wells. Over the years, the technology has been refined and improved into what is used today for exploration in Shale rocks due to their low permeability. Fracking is the process of pumping large gallons of water, mixed with sand and a cocktail of chemical compounds into existing crevices of underground oil and gas reserves, under very high pressure, thereby creating fissures and cracks in the rocks and hence improving the porosity and permeability of the rock formation. Figure 1: Conventional Gas reservoirs and Unconventional Gas Reservoirs (Shale Rock) Naturally occurring veins in the rock formations are used in the conventional sources to tap the oil, but in unconventional sources, these veins are either not large enough, or are too far apart and not

Elizabethan entertainment was popular when there was something to celebrate and it often occurred nightly, but there were different types of entertainment among the classes in England. Rich would do things which the poor couldn t do or afford such as watch plays, go hunting, jousts among knights, and more. Many older people in past generations support more severe child discipline, citing that it teaches kids proper behavior better than more modern teaching styles. There is a fine line between an acceptable spanking and child abuse. This was done through Smart technology allowing my students to go on a virtual fieldtrip. They were able to learn more about the three environments and the types of animals that live in those environments. 12. During this lesson today, my students exhibited behaviors that showed me they were engaged. They listened to the expectations well and did exactly what I requested of them to do. They were actively listening and participating during the station time. 13.I was able to see that the students were focusing, responding, asking questions, volunteering, etc. throughout the lesson. I also gave formative assessments throughout the lesson as well as a final assessment. One example of a student s response would be when my students were participating in small group discussions with peers. I went to the station this student was at and asked the student how they knew what animals belonged in the desert environment. This student was able to articulate a response to me which demonstrated learning. Additionally, I did interviews with the students as a formative assessment. An example of one event in my placement where I have done this standard is when doing interviews in my two week community placement at the Community Rehabilitation in Armadale Hospital. For my reflection, I will be using the Gibbs Reflective Cycle (1988). FEELINGS I am normally a very shy person so when we were told that we were to do interviews on the first day of my community placement I felt scared. I did not know how to approach people confidently let alone do an interview. I knew I could do it but I was not confident enough. I was already feeling overwhelmed because it was my first time to be placed in a hospital. EVALUATION The good thing in my experience would be that I got to have the experience of doing interviews and I actually enjoyed it. I also gained more confidence in interacting with my patients. The not so good thing would be that I have gained confidence in talking to my patients but not the staff or the people I was working with. I was still very shy in communicating with them. ANALYSIS I have learnt to do interviews during my placement. Because I took that step out of my comfort zone I believe that I have learnt a lot. I have learnt to take a step out of my shell and try. • 26. Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia ( All ) Acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL), a malignant disorder of lymphoid progenitor cells, is the most common hematological malignancy affects children, accounting for 25 30% of all childhood cancers with peak prevalence between the ages of 2 and 5 years [1]. The causes of pediatric acute leukemias are still not well known, the identification of causes and prevention/early intervention is clearly a worthwhile goal [2]. Previous studies have demonstrated that the interaction between genetic background, lifestyle, and these environmental factors play a critical role in the development of ALL in children [3]. MicroRNAs are a class of small (17 25 nucleotides) single stranded noncoding RNAs that function as a sequence targeted modifiers of gene expression through translational repression [4]. The miRNAs are important key regulators of normal hematopoiesis and their disruption could lead to leukemogenesis [5]. Mutations like single nucleotide polymorphisms located in microRNA binding sites can cause disruption in microRNA target interactions, leading to deregulation of the target gene expression [6]. One of these SNPs is the one found within the miR 502 binding site in the 3′ UTR of the SET8 gene. SET8 (also known as PR SET7; located on chromosome 12q24.31) encodes a histone H4 Lys 20 specific methyltransferase which plays an important role in cell cycle dependent transcriptional silencing and mitotic regulation [7]. Gram negative can cause many kinds of infections. One type of bacteria is Escherichia which is a rod shaped bacteria. A Gram stain is used in lab setting to identify what type of bacteria is present. A sample is placed in a nutrient media and incubated. This media will encourage bacteria growth present. One girl was much better at basketball than the rest of the girls, and the other girls started to be mean to her and her mean to them. This then lead to the girls not working well together on the court. I decided to leave my coaches out of it, and handle it on my own. After one of my team s games, I pulled all of the girls aside to talk to them. I told them that they need to be nice to each other because it affects their game play too. I told them that everyone was there to get better at basketball and that each of them are at a different point in their skill levels. I went on to say that I was not going to involve any adults ... The Darkness Out There generates an eerie feeling by not defining a specific threat but leaving it open to the imagination. Each description of characters, places, and physical aspects is written in a way that is simple to understand, but one should not be tricked by his ordinary words since there is always a greater meaning behind them. In this particular story, if one considers the period of time when the story was written, which was the nineteen thirties, is perceived how Steinbeck presents the readers with an uncommon matter that not many writers wrote about. That matter, being, the topic of women and their sexuality, which is the main focus of the story, in a time when a woman s life is dominated by men and as a consequence, many women are deprived of their personal, social and sexual fulfillment. These deprivations in a woman s life are illustrated within the descriptions and events that occur around the primary symbol in this story, the flower chrysanthemum, which as the story advances, reveals itself to symbolize Elisa s femininity, her fulfillment as a woman and even her. Elisa s masculine descriptions such as her face being lean and strong, her body being blocked and heavy, and the man s black hat that she is wearing, which in a way, they hide the feminine side of her, but in another way they also emphasize how she could be doing a different, or more challenging, job in her life than just cultivating flowers. This category includes the following disease entities: chronic myelomonocytic leukemia (CMML), atypical chronic myeloid leukemia, BCR ABL1 negative (aCML), juvenile myelomonocytic leukemia (JMML), Myelodysplastic/myeloproliferative neoplasm with ring sideroblasts and thrombocytosis (MDS/MPN RS T) and myelodysplastic/myeloproliferative neoplasm, unclassifiable (MDS/MPN, U) (Table 1.). In MDS/MPN cases, either normal karyotype or MDS related chromosome abnormalities have been reported. A high percentage of MDS/MPN patients harbor identifiable mutations in genes recurrently mutated across myeloid neoplasms when undergoing either targeted panel mutation analysis or whole exome sequencing with next generation sequencing technology but no disease defining mutations have been reported [9]. Mutation analysis has emerged as an important ancillary test to accompany a diagnosis of MDS/MPN; especially in the absence of cytogenetic chromosome abnormalities because these may serve as a critical clonality marker confirming its neoplastic nature essential for the diagnosis of a myeloid neoplasm. CMML, among the most well documented in this group, harbor mutations in genes that include SRSF2, TET2, and ASXL1 in up to 50% of cases, respectively[9, 10]. Mutations in ASXL1 have also been reported as an independent prognostic factor along with other clinicopathologic parameters in a multivariable model [10]. Mutation analysis including these genes can greatly facilitate the diagnosis and prognostic stratification of CMML [11]. However, a more conservative approach toward the mutation analysis results is warranted in older individuals lacking definitive evidence of a myeloid neoplasm, since it is known the presence of mutations in similar set of genes can be identified in such patients [12, ... Interpreting The Kuleshov Effect In The Empty Hearse Editing is the joining of different shots to create meaning, and can be one of the most significant instruments of effect in film (Pudovkin). Russian film theorists Vsevolod Pudovkin and Lev Kuleshov have coined specific methods of editing which can be employed in order to reveal a deeper meaning (Sampson, Lecture 6.1). In the episode The Empty Hearse in the television show Sherlock by Mark Gatiss and Steven Moffat, the use of the Kuleshov effect, leitmotif, parallelism, and simultaneity all work to emphasize the innate connection between best friends Sherlock Holmes and John Watson, proving that they are the perfect pair. John becomes livid after finding out that Sherlock had been lying to him this entire time, thus allowing him to grieve, and decides he wants nothing to do with him anymore. Thus, they both try to go on with their lives, as Sherlock searches for a new case, and John continues to see patients. However, this sequence cross cuts between the two lives so that they explicitly connect to each other. When Mrs. Hudson asks Sherlock about John, he replies, He made his position quite clear, which then cuts to a shot of John s middle finger as he is putting on gloves. Then, it goes back to Sherlock and Mrs. Hudson, and she asks, What did he say? to which Sherlock starts replying but gets cut off at F which then cuts to John saying Cough? to one of his patients. As, arguably, the only global power at the time, the United States spearheaded the dialogue on climate change. At some points the United States has trouble convincing other nations to come on board. This can be seen in documents three and four, where Japan is having some trepidations over industrialized nations involvement in climate change versus developing nations. It can especially be seen in document three where they clearly have different perspectives on where they see climate change in the long term. Japan is also skeptical of many of the emission trading s the United States takes part in because they are not quite sure how it would work and what position they would play. The Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs was particularly worried about China s role in this agreement also, they did not want to carry out strict reductions while China continued to pollute the air around them. In comparison, document nine also centers around the United States as it tries to get the most out of the present climate change agreement, by working with Ambassador Raul A Estrada Oyuela. Documents three and four are more focused on the beginning of various climate change treaties the United States was trying to conceive. The narrator shares his heavily critical point of view on the forthcoming visit from his wife s old friend whom he calls the blind man later known as Robert . Specifically, Carver uses first person narrative to put the reader in the mindset of the speaker who although keeps information hidden about himself, eventually exposes a substantial amount of character through his commentary. Slowly but surely he divulges his tremendously insecure, stubborn, and immature nature when it comes to matters of exhibiting empathy for others and most importantly obtaining the emotional depth for it.
