Australian English and National Identity
What does Australian English look and sound like today, and how does it reflect our identity as a
nation?
Language use in Australia constantly and rapidly changes to reflect the ever evolving Australian
national identity. It is being influenced by American culture, through its pervasive media, and altered
to create a unique identity that addresses the needs of the younger Australians. Technology, the loss
and gain of expressions, changing perception of taboo words and political correctness also attribute to
the way that language has evolved to fabricate our national identity. American culture is increasingly
affecting the way Australians use language. The dominance and omnipresence of the US entertainment
industry, be it film, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many young Australians no longer use or are even familiar with many rich and expressive expressions
of Australian culture that the older would have regularly used. Idioms and expressions like beyond the
black stump and you ve got Buckley s have become unknown to many young Australians. However,
Australian expressions are not just on the decline in the youth population. New expressions are also
being coined, though many are much ruder, like as much chance as pushing shit uphill with a rubber
fork or face like a festered pickle have also added character to Australian English and accelerated
linguistic evolution, particularly when used in preference to older expressions by the young. As Bruce
Moore says, Australian English is central to the process of giving voice to our Australian identity: in
important ways, we are what we speak, and we are how we speak . This great transformation in the
expression use by the people of Australia will define our linguistic identity in the future and reflects
clearly our evolving national identity and who we choose to be.
The national identity of Australia has also developed strangely when dealing with taboo, especially
with the younger Australians. Many youths no longer find many profanities as rude or taboo as the
older generations, in particular with words like fuck , shit and bloody which used to be packed with a
certain punch. In fact, many of these words are actually used as interjections ( Shit! No way! ),

Network Features Of A Computer Infrastructure
Abstract Networks and media are two important aspects of a computer infrastructure that should be
constantly under protection. Most of the network protocols that we use nowadays were developed like
the open protocols. It means everyone who has an access to the network can scan, read, and modify
packets easily. Thus, one of the tasks a cybersecurity expert might face is developing a new network
architecture or update the existing, vulnerable one. So, the one should have a strategic knowledge to
build the network architecture with the proper security. For example, why it is sometimes better to
setup the network devices with the dynamic IP addresses, or what might happen if it would be two
identical IP addresses in the network. Sometimes it is better to install a switch instead of a router to
increase the average network speed and reduce the breaking availability . The knowledge about the
networks and computers make the cybersecurity expert thinks critically and provide the strategic ideas
about the exact network topology and devices. Also, there are some techniques that might help to
protect the dynamic networks against braking down. There are a lot of dynamic network protocols,
such as RIP, OSPF, EIGRP, and BGP that operates differently, according to the bandwidth, number of
hops, and network availability. Introduction Computer era (century) has come very fast. Only a couple
of decades ago, the first computers were developed and changed the ways of billions of people

A Reflection On The American Culture
When people think of missions, they think its missioners going out to help the poor by giving them
money, food, or something materialistic. Missionary s primary goal should be to bring honor to God.
Missions are not just providing materialistically but it s a way to grow relationally. We aren t meant to
bring out the great potential in God s creation, by being relational to our selves, with others, and with
the rest of creation for we all have a broken in spirit. We are meant to feel a sense of dignity in
ourselves for we were created in the image of God. Culture has an influence in the way we feel about
ourselves, all of our societies are different. As believers we are meant not to make ourselves feel high
but equal because we are all broken instead we need join hands with people. Intercultural studies come
in play because it allows us to understand a foreign culture to accomplish a certain goal. The goal
which we are to accomplish first is to know that we are not the savers but we are called to help others
discover that they are a value meanwhile walking humbly with them as Jesus transforms both of us.
Our relationships with others make a difference not only for us but the community. The poor need
access to prayer, preachers, and to the body. I have learned missions are not just us going into another
country to help the poor but to heal a community. We need to recognize that we are not the only
answer to that community but we are a part of it. We need to be able to

U.s. Army Tactical Mobility Requirements Board Essay
1. In 1961, Secretary of Defence Robert S. McNamara sent a strongly worded memo to Army
Secretary Elvis J. Stahr. He ordered the Army, through the Chief of Staff of the Army, to implement air
mobility. This proved to be the birthright of the airmobile division and the eventual evolution of a new
doctrine of air combat.
2. The Howze Board, formally called the U.S. Army Tactical Mobility Requirements Board, was
formed a week after the above memo from the Secretary of Defence and was headed by Lieutenant
General Hamilton H. Howze.
3. The Howze Board was in operation from May through August 1962.
4. The main purpose of the board was to free the ground soldiers from the restrictions of battlefield
movement by replacing conventional ground transportation with aircraft.
5. The board came up with a proposal that consisted of what was referred to as an Army Reorganized
Airmobile Division (RAID), coupled with a corps task force, which resembled a small mobile field
army and was supported by a special support brigade.
6. Their recommended divisional organization was that the Army would form only two airmobile
divisions: the 1st Cavalry (Airmobile), an outgrowth of the 11th Air Assault Division in July 1965.
7. The second airmobile division, 101st Airborne Division was formed three years later.
8. July 1965, the 11th Air Assault Division was designated the 1st Cavalry Division (Airmobile).
9. Personnel and equipment from the inactivated 2d Infantry Division and the 11th Air Assault

At Risk Students
At risk students are students who are at risk of not completing high school. Students who consistently
perform below expected academic standards are regarded as at risk (Ng Wong, 2013). Dropping out of
high school is a complex social problem for which no simple solution exists. While the most obvious
characteristic of at risk students is academic underachievement, there is solid evidence for using other
characteristics to assist in identifying these children.
Next to academic achievement, the rate of school attendance showed the strongest relationship to
dropout (Christle, Jolivette, Nelson, 2007). Failure to complete homework, follow school rules, follow
civil law, and lack of participation in activities, were all signs of disengagement, ... Show more

Some low income parents do not have the confidence in their own ability to help their children,
especially when more advanced concepts are introduced during middle and high school (Marchetti,
Wilson, Dunham, 2016). Finally, low income parents may not have the resources to hire tutors or extra
help to assist with homework (Marchetti, Wilson, Dunham, 2016). At risk students may find it
challenging to draw upon their personal strengths to muster adaptive responses to academic setbacks
(Caleon, Wui, Chiam, King, Tan, Tan, 2016). These barriers listed are more the reason why when a
student does try, it should be reviewed as a strength. As at risk students, must overcome more
challenges to even do what is viewed as minimal effort.
Perhaps no single event in the adolescent life course more strongly determines later social and
economic success than dropping out of school (Ludwig Shah, 2014). Risk factors for dropping out of
school exist in all life domains with the likelihood of a student dropping out of school increasing as
these risk factors accumulate (Christle, Jolivette, Nelson, 2007). However, most of the research on at
risk students and dropping out has focused on the characteristics of individuals rather than on the
services available at schools or the local community (Christle, Jolivette, Nelson,

Walmart s Impact On The Canadian Retail Sector
Walmart has had a huge impact on the Canadian retail sector. Walmart first entered Canada in 1994
when it purchased 122 stores from the struggling Woolco chain. Over a decade later, six major retail
chains have disappeared in Canada due to fierce competition from Walmart. Walmart has such a major
influence on the retail sector that their move to open superstores with massive floor spaces promoted
Canadian retail giant, Canadian Tire to experiment with fresh and frozen products in a couple of its
stores. By 2006, Walmart dominated 50% of the market in Canada for general merchandising and
became Canada s largest non food retailer with about 13$ million in sales annually. Thanks in part to
Walmart, today retail dominated supply chains lead the

General Pete Quesada and the Triumph of Tactical Air Power in World War II
I would like to begin my paper with the quote by John Kennedy learning and Leadership are
indispensable to each other. 1
I think it is a great saying about leadership I have ever heard. There are many books about leadership.
But if someone wants to be a good leader and if they do not have leadership abilities, character from
birth, they will never be able to be a good leader. When we say leader, we have to think about people
who are able to encourage their people to believe them, their thoughts, be ready to follow them. There
can be another ability of leaders. It is to do right things and make their people to do the same. But not
like some leaders, who do not do ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These books about leadership can be examples for those people who have leadership skill; these books
can be a guide for those people. These books about leadership will help people with leadership
abilities to make their job easier, but will not make them good leaders.
When I read this book we can understand that commanders as good leaders cannot be far from their
men they command. Quesada has this character, he saw his men as his sons. Moreover good leaders
must be able to put themselves in a place of people in front of them. Such kind of characters can make
officers a good leaders and General Elwood had these skills and characters. These characters made
him a great leader. His leadership skills were not dispensed from someone, he was interested to learn
more and his characters may be from birth or from family nurture, education helped him to become
good leader.
Family nurture also very important for people to be in a right way and to do right things, there are
many about this. There are many families with high education, with high cultural values, but their
children do not become like their parents or like they want them to be. The reasons might be different.
The first reason is that people do not spend time with their children, or they do not have time for this.
Moreover it depends on people s character form birth.
When I chose this book I thought it would be very informative and I would be able to get more

Quebec s Far Right Steps Out Of The Shadows
Québec s far right steps out of the shadows: How neo nationalist and alt right groups in the province
benefit from a global momentum
Populist movements are on the rise across the Western world. Donald Trump s victory in the U.S., the
Brexit vote in the U.K. and the surge of far right parties in many European countries all stand
testimony to this. Emboldened by this momentum, Québec s far right groups are growing their ranks.
And while they may be less established, they, too, want to make themselves heard. (1,760 words)
Sylvain Brouillette never planned on joining a nationalist movement. But the 52 year old, who goes by
the nom de guerre Maikan , says he had a wake up call when, in late 2015, Justin Trudeau was elected

The common theme among them is a firm rejection of established conservative parties as well as the
skepticism of globalization and its corollary immigration, which they believe threatens to erode the
Québécois way of life.
Right now, in places like Montreal, Quebecois culture is being drowned, says Remi Tremblay, the
media liaison for the Federation des Québécois de souche, whose anti immigration tirades are loud
and proud. The group was founded as a protest movement in the aftermath of Quebec s reasonable
accommodation crisis. Its concern is more with the very concept of immigration than with specific
groups. Peoples that are strangers to each other, and who have different values and traditions can t live
side by side indefinitely without there being frictions and problems, he says.
Many of these groups single out radical Islam as being the most vivid threat, one which they consider
to be closer at hand than mainstream society realizes.
We believe radical Islam has no place here. We can see what damage it does in Europe and we don t
want the same to happen here, says Daniel Boucher, president of the Alliance nationale réformiste du
Québec. Boucher thinks it s dangerous for Québécois society to dismiss this threat as marginal. Of
course it s not the majority, but still, it doesn t always take a majority. It s usually a minority that
causes the damage. You still have to be cautious, he adds.
While the lion s share of these

McDonald s also followed a framework of five core rules. Per the article McDonald s Suppliers are

Morality Questioned in Unforgiven Essay
The 1992 winner of the best movie of the year, Unforgiven, is viewed by many to clash with the
society of 1992 involving certain aspects of feminism and racism just to name two. This movie won
four academy awards including best picture, best supporting actor, best director, and best editing but it
was actually nominated for nine which is pretty phenomenal considering the amount of money it cost
to make the film. In this movie, morality is in question throughout the whole film, as well as the
power money actually has on people. The plot of Unforgiven focuses on the character William Munny
(Clint Eastwood), who gave up his life as a thief, murderer, and villain for the love of a woman and to
raise the family they were soon to have. Unlike ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At the time the movie was made, for instance, terrorism was at its lowest point it had been in twenty
years which clearly resembles Munny s dormant living style. The Schofield Kid (Jaimz Woolvett)
interrupts Munny s quiescence way of life, trying to get Munny to assist him in the killing of two
hooligans that beat an innocent woman until she was bruised. The Schofield Kid was acting as the
instigator, which resembles the enemy of terrorism (William Munny). Munny seems unsure of the
uncivil act of disobedience until he comes to the conclusion that his family is in dire need of money to
pay for the bare necessities of life.
There were three major waves of feminist action that took place in the 1900 s. The most recent and
most closely resembling the film is the third wave taking place in the early 1990 s. The third wave
feminist mainly focused on micro politics but also sought after negotiating a space within feminist
thought for deliberation of race related subjectivities. In the film, a woman was brutally beaten by a
man for laughing at his small penis. The girl s friends found out what happened and sought to acquire
revenge on the two men that committed this hurtful crime. The gang of vengeful women manage to
scavenge one thousand dollars of their own savings as a reward for anyone who kills the two men. The
gang of women acts as the feminist movement in the 1990 s but there is

completion due to the wishes of my superiors. Due to the boyish nature of my personality, I wanted to

recess at school, I dove for the ball and heard a cracking sound. I had broken my arm. Immediately,
my parents were summoned to school and I went to the hospital to get a cast. Devastation struck me as

Human Immunodeficiency Virus Infection And Acquired...
Introduction:
Human immunodeficiency virus infection and acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (HIV/AIDS) is a
pandemic which infects the human immune system with the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV).1
The term HIV/AIDS describes the entire cascade and progression of disease from the initial infection
with HIV to the later, more severe stage of AIDS. It is a global pandemic that affects 35 million people
(2013) worldwide and 35, 287 people in Australia. 2,3 Dentists need to be acknowledgeable of this
rapidly spreading disease and understand how to manage patients with HIV/AIDS.
The human immunodeficiency virus is a lentivirus (retrovirus), which attacks Helper T cells,
specifically CD4 lymphocytes causing the progressive deterioration of the immune system.4 Initially
when HIV is contracted, there is a period if 2 to 6 weeks called seroconversion where HIV antibodies
are not detectable. During this period the patient may experience flu like symptoms due to the initial
immune reaction.4 Next, there is a clinical, asymptomatic phase, which can last up to 10 years, and
during this time the CD4 count decreases, causing gradual immunodeficiency. This lead to
opportunistic infections such as oral candidiasis (thrush).4 Eventually, the AIDS stage of the disease is
reached and there are more serious opportunistic infections and malignancies.
HIV is mainly transmitted by unprotected intercourse sexual intercourse, vaginal, anal or oral sex.
However it can also be transmitted by

Potential Challanges
Several potential challenges exist to the validity and reliability of the research questions, data and
analysis. After looking at the survey and the data collected, some concerns are apparent to the validity
of the information. This survey conducted used two methods. The first method was an online survey.
The second survey method was a face to face questionnaire. The face to face survey was conducted in
struggling retail locations and vicinity. Shopping Malls and heavy populated areas were the locations
chosen for this survey. One major concern is that the participants used were not necessarily current
Starbucks customers. The purpose for this was to increase and promote Starbucks to non customers.
Questions regarding the current Starbucks menu and ambiance does not solicit a true response if the
individual surveyed is not a customer. Furthermore, competition coffee retailers are also a large
concern. Surveying a

Metaphors We Live By Essay examples
Metaphors We Live By
In Metaphors We Live By, George Lakoff and Mark Johnson give the following definition: The
essence of metaphor is understanding and experiencing one kind of thing in terms of another (5). An
obvious focal point of Metaphors We Live By, and the idea this essay will attempt to further explicate,
is the notion that the title implies: we live by certain dominant metaphors.
Some of the most universal concepts in our species, culture, and language are not only talked about,
but also thought about, in metaphorical terms.
The concept love, for example, is structured mostly in metaphorical terms: love is a journey, love is a
patient, love is a physical force, love is madness, love is war, etc. The concept of ... Show more

First, experiences themselves are ways of understanding complex emotions, controversies, and other
innate human feelings. In an attempt to understand these experiences, we employ language. But then,
the chain repeats as we search for ways of understanding our language. The metaphor, frequently used
to render language more accessible, in fact, loops us back to the beginning of the chain: we again use
experience as a means of understanding. Essentially, this complex process of understanding our most
basic human feelings is circular with metaphor providing the crucial link that closes the circle.
Because these metaphors are central to the ways we understand our lives, the book gets its title.
Expressions like wasting time, attacking positions, going our separate ways, etc., are reflections of
systematic metaphorical concepts that structure our actions and thoughts. They are alive in the most
fundamental sense: they are metaphors we live by. The fact that they are conventionally fixed within
the lexicon of English makes them no less alive. (55)
As an integral part of our everyday language, used even when we do not even realize we are using
them, these metaphors structure our common, daily thought, speech, and action, further reinforcing the
idea that they create a circular process of understanding experience. The metaphors shape the way we
experience something, but the experience itself must, at some level, influence the metaphor we use to
comprehend

The Relationship Between Perfectionism And Maladaptive...
Introduction
The relationship between Perfectionism, Procrastination and Academic Performance
As said by (Brown, Elissa J; Heimberg, Richard G; Frost, Randy O; Makris, Gregory S et al, 1999),
Perfectionism has been defined as a dispositional tendency to set excessively high performance
standards and to then evaluate one s performance in an overly critical manner. . This investigation
looks at two types of perfectionism Adaptive, and Maladaptive Perfectionism. Adaptive perfectionism
is the inclination to set higher standards, participate in study more often, achieve better grades, and
emphasize more focus on academic importance in their life. Maladaptive Perfectionism is also a
predictor for studying more often, however research has found evidence that it has been linked with
higher anxiety, perceived difficulty and no increase in grades (Brown et al., 1999). These two types of
perfectionism are measured using 3 of the 6 subscales of Frost et al., (1990) s Multidimensional
Perfectionism Scale(MPS). A study looked at perfectionism, behaviour, cognition and affect in a
women s private liberal arts college gave participants a small range of questionnaires over 6 times in
the semester and looked at final grades to see if there was a significant correlation between any of the
variables. They found an association between CM perfectionism and anxiety about performance and
being overly critical of mistakes. CM was not associated with better grades, and the research
concluded it

Indigenous People In Canada
Introduction It is very difficult to define indigenous people. No philosopher has invented a holistic
definition of these people of the world. However, they are those people too impoverished in all
societies worldwide, reorganized by their respective societies as indigenous natives, are identified with
the pre and post colonial continuity, having links with historical kingdoms and live around natural
resources with a peculiar political, economic and social set up. Over seventy nations of this world
habit indigenous people estimated to be 370 millions. What is so important is that they a rich in
cultural archeology, linguistically exorbitant with diverse religions, storytelling, art and traditions. In

Mental health or disorders Mental and health disorders also give a measure of hospital management
for the mentally indigenous people. Statistics show that for the period 2005 2006, health officials
registered a high number of mentally sick patients of this kind in Australia. (Australian institute of
Health and welfare and australian Bureau of statistics, 2008, p. P.111). Majority of them had
psychoactive problems at 5:3 ratios for both male and female respectively, some of which were self
induced. In Canada, the situation is caused by induced and self imposed racial discrimination. For all
these reasons, the United Nations argued countries to avoid racial discrimination by promoting
equality in the provision of health services and affirmative action in indigenous communities. (United
Nations Development Program (UNDP) , 2000, P.10). Life expectancy In Australia, the life
expectancy at birth for the males had reduced and health authorities expressed the desire to improve it.
Based on statistics for 2005 2007, males expectancy was 67.2 years showing a drop by 11.5 years for
non indigenous people. For females, the standing is 72.9 years below non indigenous people by 9.7
years. From 1996 2001, the male to female ratio was at59.4:64.8 years. This meant that the Australian
government had taken up

The theme in books by Sinclair Lewis1 relates to the time in which they were written. In both Babbit

My Observations On My Observation
On the times/days of both my observation, I walked in, ordered my (light bulb) mint lemonade, and
took a seat on the inner most, and consequently also closest to the cash counter corner table (made for
1 2 people); then I set my timer. At these times, I didn t use my phone (except for timing my
observations), put in headphones or any other such activities that would distract me from the goal in
place: to observe my surrounding. I chose this place precisely due to several of hundreds of posts on
Instagram of the light bulb teas, where the teacups were recycled light bulbs, this was what intrigued
me most about this site. Additionally, lots of my friends had told me of this place being great for
students, thus selling me on this site. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

During both my observations I saw several varieties of people, most wearing scarfs and sweaters
(truly embracing sweater weather . The first time around I witnessed two girls, seemingly on a study
date, however (at least from what I saw) more interested in their phones, than each other, their laptops
or books. It is very possible they were just taking a break, or had been waiting on another person to
show, unfortunately I wasn t around long enough to be able to witness that. There was another duo of
girls, who from what I observed were celebrating a birthday, and catching up after a long time. They
were the loudest duo there, thanks to one of them in a mustard blouse, green leggings and light beige
heels; they were talking of fitness mainly, ways to combat plateaus, how long it had been since one of
them ad hit it (plateau, I mean), how long it had been since they d seen each other, amongst other
typical girl talk? Something I definitely noticed was that everyone would pose their drinks for
pictures, whether due to the ever growing phenomenon of taking pictures of your food, or just due to
the light bulbs I cannot be too sure. Something that surprised me about my first visit was that, yes as
expected there were mostly young people there (the small café was so full, several people were
standing to wait on their drinks) , but there were also two (from what I saw) different groups of adult

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Discrete Wavelet Transform
Discrete Wavelet Transform DWT is a frequency based transform which is performed on wavelets. It
can be 1 D, 2 D and etc. It divides an image into four sub bands, namely  LL (Low resolution image)
 HL (Horizontal)  LH (vertical)  HH (diagonal) This division can be performed up to many
levels. It captures not only notion of frequency content but also temporal content. Wavelets provide a
mathematical way of encoding information in such a way that it is layered according to level of detail.
DWT is more computationally efficient than other transformations because of its excellent localization
properties. Wavelets are capable of complete lossless reconstruction of image[6]. Advantages of DWT

Three levels of rotations have been implemented. First the original watermarked image is being
rotated by 90o , then 180o and at last the image is being rotated by 270o in clock wise direction.
Gaussian noise On digital image Gaussian noise can be reduced using a spatial filter, though when
smoothing an image, an undesirable outcome may result in the blurring of fine scaled image edges and
details because they also correspond to blocked high frequencies. Image compression Image
compression may be lossy or lossless. Lossless compression is preferred for archival purposes and
often for medical imaging, technical drawings, clip art, or comics. Lossy compression methods,
especially when used at low bit rates, introduce compression artifacts. Lossy methods are especially
suitable for natural images such as photographs in applications. Salt and pepper Noise Salt and pepper
noise is an attack for which a certain amount of the pixels in the image are either black or white
(hence the name of the noise). Salt and pepper noise can be used to model defects in the transmission
of the image that a pixel is corrupted. Additive

Analysis Of The Book The Woods Are Covered By Dark Night
The woods are covered by dark night, the stars content with misery. Augustus flees with anticipation
through the narrow castle hallway. If he s late, his father, Carlisle, will not be pleased. The clock
ticking, each second pounding into his brain like nails. Fortunately, he reaches the lair just in time, to
find his father lying in wait.
Augustus, Carlisle s whispers in a raspy voice.
Yes, father. Augustus replies with worry.
You ve become of age my son, Carlisle hissed, your mother has passed, we need a new maiden for our
castle.

It was a young girl, chasing a rabbit, picking onions along the way. Augustus knew she was the one.
Her long blonde hair, and blue eyes is just what he had imagined. The scent of innocence is what he
desired. Hello! Young lady! The girl was frightened, and starting running away. Augustus knew he
could not loose her. No! Don t go! Please! I won t hurt you. The girl hesitated, then turned around and
hid behind a tree. What s your name? Evelyn. She whimpered.
Hi, I m Augustus.
Hello. Evelyn whispers, this time more comfortable.
Do you want to pet my horse? Augustus asks.
Okay Evelyn giggles and bounces towards the horse. She strokes it gently, her gift for animals is
obvious. Augustus knew he had to act fast, for the girl would not be lone for long. He picked her up
swiftly, and she screamed. But no one could hear her as they left the woods, up the path with the red
berries, down the North side of the mountain, and back to the castle.
Meanwhile, back at the castle, Carlisle became gravely ill and eventually passed the day before
Augustus returned home. Augustus was in sever agony, as now he was all alone in the world, besides
his maiden. But she would never love him as he wants. She would always try to escape from him. So
Augustus forms a lie, to trick Evelyn to staying with him forever. He tells her this: Evelyn. If you wish
to go, you may go. But harm will come to you, and your family for all

A Short Note On Core Competencies And Competencies
V. Core Competencies:
Core Competencies One: Innovation
The definition of innovation in core competency is defined is to be, Able to challenge conventional
practices; adapts established methods for new uses; pursues ongoing system improvement; creates
novel solutions to problems; evaluates new technology as potential solutions to existing problems.
(NHIV.gov)
One of SOBI s core competencies is innovation. They create a work environment where employees
are free to feel creative and therefore creates more innovation. The company is constantly looking for
opportunities for growth, which is why I think that expanding into these new territories would
definitely fall within this core competency.
Core Competencies Two: Quality
SOBI ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This customer service standard will be crucial when moving into the new territories, as these are
Countries that are generally poor and uneducated when it comes to their options when treating their
disease. The idea the SOBI is there ready to answer their calls and to help them deal with insurance
and financial assistance is a big plus.
Core Competencies Four: Teamwork
Teamwork is something that SOBI boasts about throughout all of their annual reports. They are very
proud of their low turnover rate and worker initiatives they practice. They offer fixed and variable
salaries, long term incentive programs, pension plans, open door policies and many more incentives to
maintain a happy working team. When looking at other pharmaceutical companies, SOBI has the
lowest turnover rate in the industry and they contribute this to their ability to foster teamwork.
Fostering great team work will only help SOBI when they move into these new territories. If they
have happy workers on the ground starting to market the product, physicians and patient will sense
this. Unhappy workers and high turnover rate does nothing to help the confidences of those
purchasing the products.
VI. Pricing
A. What are the fixed and variable costs to the company of producing, marketing, and selling the new
good or service

communities and countries. For those

Mitral Valve Replacement Research Paper
Mitral valve replacement is surgical replacement of the mitral valve. Many mitral valves can be
repaired, especially if they leak from wearing out. When the valve is too damaged to repair, the valve
must be replaced. Valves damaged by rheumatic disease often must be replaced. An artificial
(prosthetic) valve is used to do this. Three types of prosthetic valves are available:
Mechanical valves made entirely from man made materials.
Donor valves made from human donors. These are only used in special situations.
Biological valves made from animal tissues.

However, as with any procedure, complications can occur. Possible complications include:
Blood clotting caused by the new valve. Replacement with a mechanical valve requires lifelong
treatment with medicine to prevent blood clots.
Infection in the new valve. Infection is more common with valve replacement than with valve repair.
Valve failure. Valve failure is more common with valve replacement than with valve repair. Pig heart
valves tend to fail after about 8 to 10 years.
Effects from the surgery itself, such as bleeding, infection, and risks of anesthesia. These risks are
rare.
BEFORE THE PROCEDURE
You may need to have blood tests, a test to check heart rhythm (electrocardiography), or
echocardiography to evaluate your heart valves and the blood flow through them.
Ask your health care provider about changing or stopping your regular medicines.
Do not eat or drink anything for at least 8 hours before the surgery. Ask your health care provider if it
is okay to take any needed medicines with a sip of water.
Do not smoke for as long as possible before the surgery. Smoking can increase the chances of a
healing problem after surgery.
PROCEDURE
There are two types of mitral valve replacement

Persuasive Essay On Fake News
Almost 1.8 billion people use Facebook, and about half of American adults use as their main news
source. According to Cambridge Dictionary, fake news is false stories that appear to be news, spread
on the internet or using other media, usually created to influence political views or as a joke.
Currently, many people are debating over the problem of fake news. For example, in the 2016
election, two candidates were chosen, Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump. As many citizens possessed
different political views, some started to create posts and articles to try and change other s political
opinions. As a result of this, companies were criticized for not taking measures to reduce the amount
of fake news. Later, companies started to take control of their software, as it is essential to handle fake
news as most people receive their information from these outlets. Although some argue that the spread
of fake news is the fault of the people who create it, it should be largely the company s responsibility
to control its spread; they should add algorithms to determine a post s validity.
During the 2016 presidential election, Facebook was greatly disparaged for not making an attempt to
counter fake news. Although Mark Zuckerberg mentioned that Facebook had no connection with the
outcome of the election, some thought otherwise. For example, a man named Eric Tucker took a
picture of a road filled with buses who he claimed were filled with protesters who he thought would
march against Donald

Marcel Duchamp Fresh Widow Essay
Marcel Duchamp s Fresh Widow was created in 1920, and is on display at the Museum of Modern Art
(MoMA). Fresh Widow is a bluish green miniature French window, which he constructed with wood
and leather. The Fresh Widow is considered to be a part of the Dadaist period and retains qualities of
dadaism in that it is a stand alone object, that has been completely stripped of its utility and function.
In addition, across the window sill, Duchamp wrote COPYRIGHT in capitalized black letters referring
to the classic dadaist rejection of the commodification or reproduction of art. Duchamp created the
Fresh Widow two years after the end of World War I. World War I was traumatizing and horrific for
most of Europe, with millions of men being killed. The timing of Duchamp s Fresh Widow, the title,
as well as the form of his piece all work together to represent the losses felt by wives in France during
the war. The use of a French window that has been blacked out by black leather, as well as the bluish
green color of the wood is a reference to the macabre realities of war and the ... Show more content on

Following World War I, widows were abundant. Duchamp s piece illustrates the grief stricken
emotional and deadened vision widows had after the war when their wounds were ripe and unable to
be restrained. The widow is much like Duchamp s window impenetrable and unreadable. The viewer
cannot see the vision of the widow because the widow herself cannot she her own vision. Much like
the inability of the viewer to look through the glass, the widow cannot look to somewhere else, to a
different place. The viewer is left with an intimate bond with the widow, experiencing her inability to
create a vision but is also left at a distance from the widow because of the viewer s inability to read
her emotions and thought processes. The widow is draped in a veil of mourning and sadness much like

  • 2. Australian English and National Identity What does Australian English look and sound like today, and how does it reflect our identity as a nation? Language use in Australia constantly and rapidly changes to reflect the ever evolving Australian national identity. It is being influenced by American culture, through its pervasive media, and altered to create a unique identity that addresses the needs of the younger Australians. Technology, the loss and gain of expressions, changing perception of taboo words and political correctness also attribute to the way that language has evolved to fabricate our national identity. American culture is increasingly affecting the way Australians use language. The dominance and omnipresence of the US entertainment industry, be it film, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Many young Australians no longer use or are even familiar with many rich and expressive expressions of Australian culture that the older would have regularly used. Idioms and expressions like beyond the black stump and you ve got Buckley s have become unknown to many young Australians. However, Australian expressions are not just on the decline in the youth population. New expressions are also being coined, though many are much ruder, like as much chance as pushing shit uphill with a rubber fork or face like a festered pickle have also added character to Australian English and accelerated linguistic evolution, particularly when used in preference to older expressions by the young. As Bruce Moore says, Australian English is central to the process of giving voice to our Australian identity: in important ways, we are what we speak, and we are how we speak . This great transformation in the expression use by the people of Australia will define our linguistic identity in the future and reflects clearly our evolving national identity and who we choose to be. The national identity of Australia has also developed strangely when dealing with taboo, especially with the younger Australians. Many youths no longer find many profanities as rude or taboo as the older generations, in particular with words like fuck , shit and bloody which used to be packed with a certain punch. In fact, many of these words are actually used as interjections ( Shit! No way! ), ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 4. Network Features Of A Computer Infrastructure Abstract Networks and media are two important aspects of a computer infrastructure that should be constantly under protection. Most of the network protocols that we use nowadays were developed like the open protocols. It means everyone who has an access to the network can scan, read, and modify packets easily. Thus, one of the tasks a cybersecurity expert might face is developing a new network architecture or update the existing, vulnerable one. So, the one should have a strategic knowledge to build the network architecture with the proper security. For example, why it is sometimes better to setup the network devices with the dynamic IP addresses, or what might happen if it would be two identical IP addresses in the network. Sometimes it is better to install a switch instead of a router to increase the average network speed and reduce the breaking availability . The knowledge about the networks and computers make the cybersecurity expert thinks critically and provide the strategic ideas about the exact network topology and devices. Also, there are some techniques that might help to protect the dynamic networks against braking down. There are a lot of dynamic network protocols, such as RIP, OSPF, EIGRP, and BGP that operates differently, according to the bandwidth, number of hops, and network availability. Introduction Computer era (century) has come very fast. Only a couple of decades ago, the first computers were developed and changed the ways of billions of people ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. A Reflection On The American Culture When people think of missions, they think its missioners going out to help the poor by giving them money, food, or something materialistic. Missionary s primary goal should be to bring honor to God. Missions are not just providing materialistically but it s a way to grow relationally. We aren t meant to bring out the great potential in God s creation, by being relational to our selves, with others, and with the rest of creation for we all have a broken in spirit. We are meant to feel a sense of dignity in ourselves for we were created in the image of God. Culture has an influence in the way we feel about ourselves, all of our societies are different. As believers we are meant not to make ourselves feel high but equal because we are all broken instead we need join hands with people. Intercultural studies come in play because it allows us to understand a foreign culture to accomplish a certain goal. The goal which we are to accomplish first is to know that we are not the savers but we are called to help others discover that they are a value meanwhile walking humbly with them as Jesus transforms both of us. Our relationships with others make a difference not only for us but the community. The poor need access to prayer, preachers, and to the body. I have learned missions are not just us going into another country to help the poor but to heal a community. We need to recognize that we are not the only answer to that community but we are a part of it. We need to be able to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. U.s. Army Tactical Mobility Requirements Board Essay 1. In 1961, Secretary of Defence Robert S. McNamara sent a strongly worded memo to Army Secretary Elvis J. Stahr. He ordered the Army, through the Chief of Staff of the Army, to implement air mobility. This proved to be the birthright of the airmobile division and the eventual evolution of a new doctrine of air combat. 2. The Howze Board, formally called the U.S. Army Tactical Mobility Requirements Board, was formed a week after the above memo from the Secretary of Defence and was headed by Lieutenant General Hamilton H. Howze. 3. The Howze Board was in operation from May through August 1962. 4. The main purpose of the board was to free the ground soldiers from the restrictions of battlefield movement by replacing conventional ground transportation with aircraft. 5. The board came up with a proposal that consisted of what was referred to as an Army Reorganized Airmobile Division (RAID), coupled with a corps task force, which resembled a small mobile field army and was supported by a special support brigade. 6. Their recommended divisional organization was that the Army would form only two airmobile divisions: the 1st Cavalry (Airmobile), an outgrowth of the 11th Air Assault Division in July 1965. 7. The second airmobile division, 101st Airborne Division was formed three years later. 8. July 1965, the 11th Air Assault Division was designated the 1st Cavalry Division (Airmobile). 9. • 7. At Risk Students At risk students are students who are at risk of not completing high school. Students who consistently perform below expected academic standards are regarded as at risk (Ng Wong, 2013). Dropping out of high school is a complex social problem for which no simple solution exists. While the most obvious characteristic of at risk students is academic underachievement, there is solid evidence for using other characteristics to assist in identifying these children. Next to academic achievement, the rate of school attendance showed the strongest relationship to dropout (Christle, Jolivette, Nelson, 2007). Failure to complete homework, follow school rules, follow civil law, and lack of participation in activities, were all signs of disengagement, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Some low income parents do not have the confidence in their own ability to help their children, especially when more advanced concepts are introduced during middle and high school (Marchetti, Wilson, Dunham, 2016). Finally, low income parents may not have the resources to hire tutors or extra help to assist with homework (Marchetti, Wilson, Dunham, 2016). At risk students may find it challenging to draw upon their personal strengths to muster adaptive responses to academic setbacks (Caleon, Wui, Chiam, King, Tan, Tan, 2016). These barriers listed are more the reason why when a student does try, it should be reviewed as a strength. As at risk students, must overcome more challenges to even do what is viewed as minimal effort. Perhaps no single event in the adolescent life course more strongly determines later social and economic success than dropping out of school (Ludwig Shah, 2014). Risk factors for dropping out of school exist in all life domains with the likelihood of a student dropping out of school increasing as these risk factors accumulate (Christle, Jolivette, Nelson, 2007). However, most of the research on at risk students and dropping out has focused on the characteristics of individuals rather than on the services available at schools or the local community (Christle, Jolivette, Nelson, ... • 8. Walmart s Impact On The Canadian Retail Sector Walmart has had a huge impact on the Canadian retail sector. Walmart first entered Canada in 1994 when it purchased 122 stores from the struggling Woolco chain. Over a decade later, six major retail chains have disappeared in Canada due to fierce competition from Walmart. Walmart has such a major influence on the retail sector that their move to open superstores with massive floor spaces promoted Canadian retail giant, Canadian Tire to experiment with fresh and frozen products in a couple of its stores. By 2006, Walmart dominated 50% of the market in Canada for general merchandising and became Canada s largest non food retailer with about 13$ million in sales annually. • 9. General Pete Quesada And The Triumph Of Tactical Air Power... General Pete Quesada and the Triumph of Tactical Air Power in World War II I would like to begin my paper with the quote by John Kennedy learning and Leadership are indispensable to each other. 1 I think it is a great saying about leadership I have ever heard. There are many books about leadership. But if someone wants to be a good leader and if they do not have leadership abilities, character from birth, they will never be able to be a good leader. When we say leader, we have to think about people who are able to encourage their people to believe them, their thoughts, be ready to follow them. There can be another ability of leaders. It is to do right things and make their people to do the same. But not like some leaders, who do not do ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These books about leadership can be examples for those people who have leadership skill; these books can be a guide for those people. These books about leadership will help people with leadership abilities to make their job easier, but will not make them good leaders. When I read this book we can understand that commanders as good leaders cannot be far from their men they command. Quesada has this character, he saw his men as his sons. Moreover good leaders must be able to put themselves in a place of people in front of them. Such kind of characters can make officers a good leaders and General Elwood had these skills and characters. These characters made him a great leader. His leadership skills were not dispensed from someone, he was interested to learn more and his characters may be from birth or from family nurture, education helped him to become good leader. Family nurture also very important for people to be in a right way and to do right things, there are many about this. There are many families with high education, with high cultural values, but their children do not become like their parents or like they want them to be. The reasons might be different. The first reason is that people do not spend time with their children, or they do not have time for this. Moreover it depends on people s character form birth. Quebec s Far Right Steps Out Of The Shadows Québec s far right steps out of the shadows: How neo nationalist and alt right groups in the province benefit from a global momentum Populist movements are on the rise across the Western world. Donald Trump s victory in the U.S., the Brexit vote in the U.K. and the surge of far right parties in many European countries all stand testimony to this. Emboldened by this momentum, Québec s far right groups are growing their ranks. And while they may be less established, they, too, want to make themselves heard. (1,760 words) Sylvain Brouillette never planned on joining a nationalist movement. The common theme among them is a firm rejection of established conservative parties as well as the skepticism of globalization and its corollary immigration, which they believe threatens to erode the Québécois way of life. Right now, in places like Montreal, Quebecois culture is being drowned, says Remi Tremblay, the media liaison for the Federation des Québécois de souche, whose anti immigration tirades are loud and proud. The group was founded as a protest movement in the aftermath of Quebec s reasonable accommodation crisis. Its concern is more with the very concept of immigration than with specific groups. Peoples that are strangers to each other, and who have different values and traditions can t live side by side indefinitely without there being frictions and problems, he says. Many of these groups single out radical Islam as being the most vivid threat, one which they consider to be closer at hand than mainstream society realizes. We believe radical Islam has no place here. We can see what damage it does in Europe and we don t want the same to happen here, says Daniel Boucher, president of the Alliance nationale réformiste du Québec. Boucher thinks it s dangerous for Québécois society to dismiss this threat as marginal. Of course it s not the majority, but still, it doesn t always take a majority. It s usually a minority that causes the damage. You still have to be cautious, he adds. While the lion s share of these ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This movie won four academy awards including best picture, best supporting actor, best director, and best editing but it was actually nominated for nine which is pretty phenomenal considering the amount of money it cost to make the film. In this movie, morality is in question throughout the whole film, as well as the power money actually has on people. The Schofield Kid was acting as the instigator, which resembles the enemy of terrorism (William Munny). There were three major waves of feminist action that took place in the 1900 s. The most recent and most closely resembling the film is the third wave taking place in the early 1990 s. The third wave feminist mainly focused on micro politics but also sought after negotiating a space within feminist thought for deliberation of race related subjectivities. In the film, a woman was brutally beaten by a man for laughing at his small penis. The girl s friends found out what happened and sought to acquire revenge on the two men that committed this hurtful crime. Introduction: Human immunodeficiency virus infection and acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (HIV/AIDS) is a pandemic which infects the human immune system with the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV).1 The term HIV/AIDS describes the entire cascade and progression of disease from the initial infection with HIV to the later, more severe stage of AIDS. It is a global pandemic that affects 35 million people (2013) worldwide and 35, 287 people in Australia. 2,3 Dentists need to be acknowledgeable of this rapidly spreading disease and understand how to manage patients with HIV/AIDS. The human immunodeficiency virus is a lentivirus (retrovirus), which attacks Helper T cells, specifically CD4 lymphocytes causing the progressive deterioration of the immune system.4 Initially when HIV is contracted, there is a period if 2 to 6 weeks called seroconversion where HIV antibodies are not detectable. During this period the patient may experience flu like symptoms due to the initial immune reaction.4 Next, there is a clinical, asymptomatic phase, which can last up to 10 years, and during this time the CD4 count decreases, causing gradual immunodeficiency. This lead to opportunistic infections such as oral candidiasis (thrush).4 Eventually, the AIDS stage of the disease is reached and there are more serious opportunistic infections and malignancies. Metaphors We Live By Essay examples Metaphors We Live By In Metaphors We Live By, George Lakoff and Mark Johnson give the following definition: The essence of metaphor is understanding and experiencing one kind of thing in terms of another (5). An obvious focal point of Metaphors We Live By, and the idea this essay will attempt to further explicate, is the notion that the title implies: we live by certain dominant metaphors. Some of the most universal concepts in our species, culture, and language are not only talked about, but also thought about, in metaphorical terms. The concept love, for example, is structured mostly in metaphorical terms: love is a journey, love is a patient, love is a physical force, love is madness, love is war, etc. The concept of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... First, experiences themselves are ways of understanding complex emotions, controversies, and other innate human feelings. In an attempt to understand these experiences, we employ language. But then, the chain repeats as we search for ways of understanding our language. The metaphor, frequently used to render language more accessible, in fact, loops us back to the beginning of the chain: we again use experience as a means of understanding. Essentially, this complex process of understanding our most basic human feelings is circular with metaphor providing the crucial link that closes the circle. Because these metaphors are central to the ways we understand our lives, the book gets its title. Expressions like wasting time, attacking positions, going our separate ways, etc., are reflections of systematic metaphorical concepts that structure our actions and thoughts. They are alive in the most fundamental sense: they are metaphors we live by. The fact that they are conventionally fixed within the lexicon of English makes them no less alive. (55) As an integral part of our everyday language, used even when we do not even realize we are using them, these metaphors structure our common, daily thought, speech, and action, further reinforcing the idea that they create a circular process of understanding experience. The metaphors shape the way we experience something, but the experience itself must, at some level, influence the metaphor we use to comprehend ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Introduction The relationship between Perfectionism, Procrastination and Academic Performance As said by (Brown, Elissa J; Heimberg, Richard G; Frost, Randy O; Makris, Gregory S et al, 1999), Perfectionism has been defined as a dispositional tendency to set excessively high performance standards and to then evaluate one s performance in an overly critical manner. . This investigation looks at two types of perfectionism Adaptive, and Maladaptive Perfectionism. Adaptive perfectionism is the inclination to set higher standards, participate in study more often, achieve better grades, and emphasize more focus on academic importance in their life. Maladaptive Perfectionism is also a predictor for studying more often, however research has found evidence that it has been linked with higher anxiety, perceived difficulty and no increase in grades (Brown et al., 1999). These two types of perfectionism are measured using 3 of the 6 subscales of Frost et al., (1990) s Multidimensional Perfectionism Scale(MPS). A study looked at perfectionism, behaviour, cognition and affect in a women s private liberal arts college gave participants a small range of questionnaires over 6 times in the semester and looked at final grades to see if there was a significant correlation between any of the variables. According to Cambridge Dictionary, fake news is false stories that appear to be news, spread on the internet or using other media, usually created to influence political views or as a joke. Currently, many people are debating over the problem of fake news. For example, in the 2016 election, two candidates were chosen, Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump. As many citizens possessed different political views, some started to create posts and articles to try and change other s political opinions. As a result of this, companies were criticized for not taking measures to reduce the amount of fake news. Later, companies started to take control of their software, as it is essential to handle fake news as most people receive their information from these outlets. Although some argue that the spread of fake news is the fault of the people who create it, it should be largely the company s responsibility to control its spread; they should add algorithms to determine a post s validity. During the 2016 presidential election, Facebook was greatly disparaged for not making an attempt to counter fake news.
