The Individualization of Elizabeth Bennet in Pride and...
The Individualization of Elizabeth Bennet in Pride and Prejudice
Midway through Pride and Prejudice, Elizabeth Bennet arrives at a moment of self awakening which,
notably, results from the influence of someone else: Fitzwilliam Darcy. For critic Susan Fraiman, this
complication amounts to no less than, as she titles her article, The Humiliation of Elizabeth Bennet.
From this moment forward, according to Fraiman, Elizabeth Bennet ceases to think for herself. She
submits to Darcy as to a second father, relinquishes her trust in her own judgments, and thereby
suffers a loss of clout. 1 This pivotal moment comes because, after Elizabeth has rejected his proposal,
Darcy justifies himself in a lengthy letter. It is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By accepting the fact that she has misjudged Darcy, Wickham, Jane, and Bingley, Elizabeth sharpens
her ability to discern character. In turn, she develops a solidly based self confidence.
Before Elizabeth s independent judgments can be formed, she must work her way painstakingly out of
her existing prejudice. It is true that Darcy essentially forces his letter into Elizabeth s consciousness.
He has no other choice. The day after Elizabeth has rejected him, he waits along the path where she
takes her morning walks, waylays her when she tries to avoid him, and even then must thrust his letter
at her. Elizabeth s impetus to free herself from her initial prejudice against Darcy is, thus, involuntary.
Because Elizabeth naturally seeks truth, she instinctively (129) takes the letter from the hands of this
man who has so offended her that she cannot believe any apology to be in his power (134). Unable to
shut out all reason completely, Elizabeth begins to move beyond her hatred. With the strongest
curiosity, (129) she focuses on the unalterable truth of Darcy s letter. Attention to Darcy s viewpoint is
essential for the reader as well as for Elizabeth. Throughout the text, the reader has viewed Darcy s
character mainly through the filter of Elizabeth s prejudice. Even Darcy s proposal, which should have
indicated the beginning of Darcy s redemption, is distorted into Elizabeth s version: Austen does

My Observation Of My Preschool Observation
The purpose of my Preschool Observation is to observe the behavior of a three year old toddler in a
head start school setting. The child s name is Adam Johnson, he is three years old, I do not know the
child. I knew that if I did not know the child it would be a better observation. My purpose is to
objectively observe the two year old toddler without bias responses of my observation in full
descriptive details. My observation of the three year old preschool is to explain the domains of
development and how these domains intersect with one another as the child grows. There are six
developmental domains in early childhood development; which are physical, language, aesthetic,
cognitive, emotional, and social domains.
I chose a group of preschool children that ages range from three to five. I chose a little boy named
Adam who is the age of three years old. Adam attends head start, which he has attended the school
since six months of age. The observation takes place in the classroom; which also has a playroom
sectioned off with a half wall for the preschoolers. The colorful room consists of space subdivided into
play areas to manipulate, explore, snuggle, and play with, share, and interest areas for differing
purposes such as learning according to the appropriate age. One part of the room is set up for dramatic
play with a doll house, child sized furniture such as chairs, couches, and block seats arranged on an
area rug with bright colors. The dramatic play area is a cabinet,

The Lutheranism Movement
Lutheranism as a religious movement originated in the early 16th century; once Lutheranism spread
the movement became a prime component in many military conflicts. The Lutheran church is the
oldest protestant Christian tradition. The teachings started back with Martin Luther. He was the one
who the Christians chose and they accepted his teachings. October 31, 1517 Luther who was a
catholic monk posted his 95 theses as a challenge to the doctrine and practices of the Catholic Church.
Martin Luther has been called the father of reformation. Lutheranism started showing up in Europe
after a century of reformer stirrings. In Germany the Lutheran movement became very popular very
fast. The early days of Lutherans were based mostly out of universities. They used what they learned;
to essentially spread their faith among a vast community of scholars. Lutheranism could not only
survive by the teachings of its professors. In the beginning ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The doctrine of justification was of central importance for the Lutheran reformation; taking place in
the 16th century. The contributions that Martin Luther and Lutheranism made to western civilization
went beyond what happened in the Christian church. The idea of reformation was embedded in
western though well before the 15th century. The main point of the reformation was mostly in general
reform and also to improve some to its original state. The renaissance and the beginning of the
humanist movement laid the ground for religious turmoil. By the 16th century Lutheranism became
established as the official religion of the German region. Martin Luther s 95 theses had its share of
controversy when it came to politics. Today Lutheranism has spread from its beginnings in the 16th
century to all of the continents. During the 15th century many changes took place in Europe which
allowed for the spread of the Lutheran

Orthodontic Research
The first idea of orthodontics has come when finger pressure manifested tooth movement. With the
development of this branch of dentistry, there is constant research to create appliances which can
move teeth ideally
This has led clinicians trying to specify many appliances able to move the teeth, most of them include
wires. Wires in many shapes, sizes, and materials (metallic alloys) are typically part of the
orthodontist s inventory.
Wires, and auxiliaries fabricated from wire (helical closed coiled and open coiled, uprighting, and
rotating springs) can make dental displacements through delivering force or simply through carry
force from one location to another within the dentofacial complex. It also may prevent unwanted tooth
movement.
Wires have a fundamental role in active and retentive orthodontic therapy. Wires may ... Show more

passed through tubes joined to bands encircling the terminal molars, with nuts placed mesial or distal

Localized auxiliaries were launched from the arch bow but because of its stiffness, the arch bow could

A modification was joining of hooks to individual bands and the rolling of round arch bow wire to

Signs Life In The Usa Analysis
When you think about technological progress chances are you think about your own life becoming
more convenient. A fire was easier to start with a chunk of flint than rubbing two sticks together, and
once it was discovered it was utilized out of convenience. Convenience has always driven innovation,
so it s not an unrealistic assumption to expect a more convenient life in the future. It s not all sunshine
and rainbows though, as convenience means work transferred to machines, which means less work for
people. In the past this has meant a transfer in the job market, old careers being replaced with new
ones, and fields opening up which did not exist before. With the automation possible today we are
seeing an exponential trend of automation, with more jobs being replaced by machines than are being

In Sonia Maasik and Jack Solomon s anthology Signs of Life in the USA, they include an essay by
Jenkins, in which he introduces his black box fallacy, stating that humanity will always look for a
singular device that will accomplish virtually every task. Jenkins uses such examples as smartphones
to illustrate the natural pursuit to converge all our tasks onto one device (Jenkins 427). Jenkins argues
that this is an impossibility, and that as new technology is developed old technology must adapt. While
we may never quite reach Jenkin s black box we can come close, as demonstrated by the very example
he uses. A smartphone may be replaced by a device even more useful someday, but in the present
exists as an invaluable communication device. Even if society offers resistance at first, technologies
such as 3D printing and APM machines will force economic reform, and if not those specific
technologies it will be something in the more distant future, with even more drastic

Why Is Archeology Important In American History
Archeology has been a great discovery that has contributed to our knowledge of American history
because if it wasn t for all the physical remains of the past we wouldn t be able to have a
comprehensive understanding of the culture in previous times, or the story itself of how everything
happened and became to be. All the American history we know as we do is because of all the
evidences that prove the past existence, life, culture, intentions, and differences between people.
Some specific places where archeology has been found are in Jamestown, King William, Chesapeake
Bay, and Roanoke Island. In Jamestown we can find evidence about the first permanent English
colony in the New World, cannibalism, church ruins, and the lives of enslaved Africans

The Importance of Leonardo s notebook
His insights in science might give now a day doctors and studiers of the human body a strong base to
create their own knowledge. Some of the drawings include a fetus in the womb, circulation of blood in
the body and a dissection of a man.
Other drawings of nature were a bird in flight and the Vitruvian man which both described anatomy
and the way mechanics work in nature.

Also, Leonardo made leaps and bounds in the area of mechanics shown in his version of a tank,
submarine, and airplane, these models are all constructed perfectly.
Leonardo s Life
Da Vinci lived from 1452 1519, his notebooks spanning most of his later life. As an artist, engineer
and natural philosopher Da Vinci wrote in his notebooks daily, finishing with around 13000 pages of
work! (Mansen) An apprentice of Andrea del Verrocchio, Da Vinci grew into an extremely skilled
artist, and created multiple sculptures and paintings. He also developed an understanding of anatomy
through human dissections.

How The Low Income Of Countries Such As Chad And Papua New...
Introduction
This report is to help introduce the low income of countries such as Chad and Papua New Guinea, and
comparing them to a country such as Sweden who has no income. For years, certain countries, as the
two listed above cannot maintain a lifestyle with the incomes that are available to them. Using
incomes will help to see where the problem is occurring and how it might be approached to aid the
countries. Reporting on the countries will give insight into a historical background including
independence of the countries, along with education, literacy, life factors, and poverty by using the
GINI to show how wide the gaps can be and become.
Historical Background In 1946 Chad became an Overseas Territory of France and on August 11, 1960
obtained independence, but short lived, because of a tyrant dictator, Francois Tombalbaye, who never
really released them from his grip, and Chad had been in a civil war, until 1990 when Idriss Deby, a
military commander, took control and with his rule, multi party politics has returned to Chad, giving
some freedoms back to its citizens (Chad s long road to independence, 2010).
Papua New Guinea was under the government of Australia, and the UN pushed Australia to give
Papua New Guinea independence and help create a group that would be able to run a government
through social and educated influences. On September 16, 1975 Papua New Guinea obtained their
independence with a monarchy ruled by Queen Elizabeth II as head of state represented

The purpose of this essay is to compare three very similar cases, the Scottsboro Trials, Brown v.
Mississippi, and the fictional trial of Tom Robinson in Harper Lee s To Kill a Mockingbird; and to
prove why the defendant of the third trial never had a chance. Each took place in the rural South in the
1920 s and 30 s and involved the unfair conviction of young black males by all white juries pressured
by the threat of mob violence. Each lacked the evidence sufficient for conviction, most especially for
the death penalty. Last, heroes emerged from each trial and made small but solid steps towards equal
justice for all. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Price had conveniently washed her step ins and though six men allegedly raped her, not a one got any

did not receive adequate legal counsel. In this second round of trials, presided by Judge James E.
Horton, Ruby Bates denied that she or Victoria Price had ever been raped (To Kill a Mockingbird:
Then and Now).
The hero in this case was Judge Horton. Despite public opinion in the region, Horton overturned the
conviction of the jury, an unprecedented act. He wrote a thoughtful essay of the improbability of the
crime and examined what evidence should have resulted from it. Very little of this expected evidence
actually appeared and thus Judge Horton declared:
It is therefore ordered and adjudged by the Court that the motion be granted; that the verdict of the
jury in this case and the judgment of the Court sentencing this defendant to death be, and the same
hereby is, set aside and that a new trial be and the same is hereby ordered. (To Kill a Mockingbird:

Judge Horton had run unopposed in the previous two elections, but shortly thereafter, Judge Horton
lost the next election.

China As A Developmental State
China as a developmental state
The extraordinary economic growth of China in the past 30 years is a miracle in many aspects. China
has the second highest GDP in the world after the United States, and it is expecting that to surpass the
American economy by 2025 (Zhao, 2014). Comparing the GDP of 2012 and 1978, there was a 142
times increase. The GDP per capita has increase 101 times as well. It has lifted more than 500 million
people out of poverty (Zhao, 2014). This economic miracle is credited to the economic reforms that
started in 1978, which in many ways, learned from the experiences of the model of developmental
state in Korea and Japan. These series of reforms put China s economy back to track after the Great
Leap Forward, a failed and catastrophic social and economic campaign between 1958 and 1961, and
the Great Proletarian Cultural Revolution, a devastating turmoil between 1966 and 1976. The

Imperialism, The Middle East, And East Asia
Large busy markets, snake charmers, carpet vendors, and veiled women all invoke ideas of West
Africa, the Middle East, and West Asia, but all these ideas come from Oriental fantasies from the
nineteenth century. Edward Said the author of Orientalism said that Orientalism was ultimately a
political vision of reality whose structure promoted the difference between the familiar (Europe, West,
us ) and the strange (the Orient, the East, them ). The nineteenth century was a period of imperialism
and tourism that led many western artists to visit West Africa, the Middle East, and Asia. Orientalist
paintings depicted two major effects, many artists often portrayed something exotic, which was
racialized, feminized, and from a sexualized culture from a faraway land. Another effect that artists
mainly like Jean LĂ©on GĂ©rĂŽme often showed was an authentic glimpse of a location and its
inhabitants. Nochlin mentioned that many of GĂ©rĂŽme s paintings worked to persuade their audiences
by carefully representing a preexisting Oriental reality. Imperialism is a policy or practice by which a
country increases its power by gaining control over other areas of the world. French orientalist
paintings in the nineteenth century were intended as propaganda in support of French imperialism,
portraying the East as a place of backwardness, lawlessness, and savagery enlightened and disciplined
by French rule. The emphasis on military brutality in numerous Oriental subjects by

Napoleon Bonaparte’s Invasion of Russia Essay
Napoleon s Invasion of Russia
Napoleon Bonaparte s invasion of Russia was a major factor in his downfall. In 1812, Napoleon,
whose alliance with Alexander I had disintegrated, launched an invasion into Russia that ended in a
disastrous retreat from Moscow. Thereafter, all of Europe, including his own allies, Austria and
Prussia, united against him. Although he continued to fight, the odds he faced were impossible. In
April 1814, Napoleon s own marshals refused to continue the struggle and stepped down from their
positions. During the actual Russian campaign, there were many key factors that greatly impacted his
downfall.
The largest army ever assembled for one single invasion was reduced to a mere fraction of its original
size. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The artillery and small arms were years behind that of France. The Russian army was a conscription
army, meaning that local farmers had to furnish a certain number of surfs for military service, as
opposed to a professional, trained army where the government supplies the soldiers with all of their
needs. An amazing half million soldiers had enlisted in Napoleon s Grand Armée (Saglamer,
Beginning of the March). This was the largest army gathered for one single invasion. Russia s army
was out numbered 3:1 with only one hundred seventy thousand soldiers. Not only was the Russian
army not well trained, they were also ill equipped. Napoleon recognized that it would be difficult and
extremely slow for Russia to mobilize her army due to her enormous size and weak infrastructure. If
Napoleon invaded now, he knew that he could be well into the Russian territory before meeting any
major opposition. On June 24, 1812, Napoleon began his fatal Russian campaign. The Grand Armée,
led by Napoleon, crossed the Nieman River, into Russia. On the journey to Moscow, Napoleon met
virtually no major opposition. The first stop in the campaign was Kovono. Early into the campaign,
the Grand Armée was affected by a colic epidemic that claimed the life of nine thousand horses and
thousands of soldiers (Web, Russian Embassy). This slowed the pace of the army. Harsh weather
conditions caused the dry roads to turn to mud, making it extremely difficult to maneuver the

Analysis Of The Gold Cat By Annie Dillard
Dillard uses many unusual language choices to create more meaning in the story both in physical and
figurative parts of the essay. While Dillard is in her bathroom calling attention to the spider s web, she
uses both inversion and repetition, Her six inch mess of web works, works somehow, works
miraculously, to keep her alive and me amazed (2). This sentence uses works repetitively in
succession, this seems to reaffirm that the web is the device that captures the dead bugs and shows her
awe towards the spider s mechanism. This sentence also uses inversion with the phrase me amazed,
the words have been switched from the syntactically correct amazed me. Dillard also uses repetition

Particularly by calling her cat gold, Dillard creates striking imagery since a cat is not often described
as gold. This creates emphasis on the continued theme which capitalizes on the symbolism of the
flame and the call to write that Dillard struggles with. Another instance of repetition appears in the
repeated number sixteen. In the work itself, Dillard mentions that there are sixteen or so corpses she
has tossed to the floor (2) and a novel about Rimbaud that had made me want to be a writer at when I
was sixteen (5). Although not directly stated in the text, it is also important to note that Rimbaud, the
subject of the book she read in the mountains, ran away at the age of sixteen. This most likely
emphasizes the point Dillard is trying to make that by deciding to be a writer a huge sacrifice is made,
just like how the dead bugs sacrificed themselves to be the spider s prey. Also in The Death of a Moth,
Dillard not only continues to use the symbolism of candles throughout the narrative, she also mentions
the number of candles or wicks numerically throughout her

Although The Cost Of Medical School Is Great, Some May
Although the cost of medical school is great, some may point out that many hospitals offer incentives
for doctors. With this, specialist doctors mainly surgeons receive loan forgiveness and do not have to
pay off their loans. The system works in several ways; first there is the option of a signing bonus.
When doctors are searching for a place to reside some hospitals will offer a bonus usually between
24,000 to 150,000 depending on what specialty doctor one is. These bonuses however, are a one time
offer and can sometimes be treated as a loan as well where in the future the extra money given upon
joining a hospital is actually taken out of doctors salaries. A few other downfalls that are come with

Heise says that with this large number of elderly taking up the population there will be a shortage of
doctors due to the idea that society has done a poor job of valuing the elderly. She says that negative
or neutral attitudes towards the elderly are common in this youth oriented society because the youth of
today lack interest and caring of other individuals including the elderly (Heise et al). This type of
attitude prevents the care that is needed for those who will take care of people as doctors in the United
States; therefore, the second cause of the doctor shortage is in fact lack of care. In fact according to a
study because of the lack of interest in one year only 75 residents entered the geriatrics field. The
study shows that if this rate continues the number of needed specialist in geriatrics will rise to
approximately 1,200 per year (Fried). The absence of caring in Millennials and Zers will ultimately
create a gap in the care system which will be nearly impossible to recover.
Although Millennials are known for their lack of caring, they are also known to not be money driven.
Millennials are driven by the want to make a difference or a change in the world; however, they are
not concerned with their next paycheck. In argument of the idea that the government creating a system
to support the medical field with money in order to draw in new doctors, some say that because of the

How Does Ayn Rand Use Gender In Atlas Shrugged
In her book, Atlas Shrugged, Ayn Rand uses a fictional story to critique the end result of several
commonplace ideologies. The book most closely deals with the ultimate result that stems from a
Marxist slogan, From each according to his ability, to each according to his need. The world that Rand
creates has few differences from reality at its start, but as the story progresses, real world ideologies
are taken to the extreme, and societal collapse appears to be imminent. Much of this is revealed
through the thoughts and actions of a character that appears to be Rand s self insert, Dagny Taggart.

and her gender. Rand uses Dagny s struggle ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Her gender also seems to contribute to the disdain that many characters hold for her. Because of
Dagny s refusal to excuse shortcomings for any reason, she pays little attention to any sexism in her
profession. Since much of the book is written with her thoughts at its forefront, Dagny s alienation
based on gender is easily forgotten. However, it is still evident. Rand does not ignore sexism; she
merely refuses to overplay it. One of the rare mentions of Dagny s gender in her work is found on
page 771, where Bertram Scudder introduces Dagny on his talk show with, the last descendant of an
illustrious name in our industrial history, the woman executive possible only in America. This
comment is brief, and appears harmless, but there is a deeper significance within it. Scudder uses the
words, only possible in America, to attribute Dagny s success to her circumstance, detaching it from
her own effort. This is one of the ways that several characters in the book justify their prejudice
against anyone who is better off than them; they attribute any achievement or detriment to
circumstance, minimizing the accomplishments of others and excusing their own behavior. The
characters who exhibit gender bias against Dagny are not limited to men. In fact, much of the sexism
of which she is subject comes from other women. Readers are exposed to this in a brief encounter with
a minor character named Betty Pope, who expresses her disdain for Dagny, calling her a grease
monkey. . .posing around like a big executive, (Rand, 73). She then comments on Dagny s femininity,
or lack thereof, implying that running a railroad is a task that is beneath a proper woman. The next
obvious drag on Dagny s femininity comes from her brother s second source of companionship, his
wife Cheryl. Cheryl Taggart s first encounter with Dagny is not a friendly one, as she seems to feel the
need to put Dagny in her place. She

Ideology Of Altered Images
Colter Sternhagen Professor Gilbertson Global Visual Culture 11 February 2016 Ideology of Images
Altered images have found a commonplace in all variations of todays s media. It seems rare anymore
that you find yourself looking at a totally original image presented in mainstream media. This is
because producers and advertisement companies know they can persuade their audience much more
effectively by digitally altering their images. And they have perfected the technique. The phenomenon
is an interesting one, and one that has dramatically affected lives in both good, and bad ways. Two
issues that are concerning in regards to an altered image has to do with one, the integrity of the
original image, and two, with how changing someones facial or body features in order to achieve a

Slightly enhancing skin tone or eye color to boost someone s look is still more than what is needed to

treatment. These altering s are melodramatic and fool societies eye, therefore make us believe that is
what those people or things actually look like. In turn, many people who consistently watch tv or use
internet are quite susceptible to insecurities of their personal image. They want to look that good, but

Abstract
This article studies a novel approach to improve membrane separation e ciency { application of
external physical in uence (temperature di erence across the membrane). Oppositely directed
pressure and temperature gradients in membrane establish a molecular exchange ow when two
components of the binary gas mixture ow in the opposite directions through the membrane. The model
of gas separator based on this e ect is studied numerically at di erent scales. At microscale (in
membrane channels) solution of the linearized Boltz mann equation is used. At macroscale (external
part of the device) the system of Navier Stokes equations for two component gas mixture is solved
using nite volume method adopted for low Mach number limit. Dependence of device e ciency on
all of the de ning parameters is studied and comparison with previous numerical simulation of the
device is made. The key feature of the device is that it can produce output gas with any purity up to
100% with temperature di er ence of only 30K applied to the sides of

Television Addiction related to Children Essay
According to Rita Dove, the author of Loose Ends, and Television Addiction, by Marie Winn. Both
authors often share the same the views about television. But television addiction is more expressed in
Ms. Winn s essay. However, Ms. Dove speaks of a more personal experience with her daughter, and
how the television is an issue in her household. Although, Ms.Dove says in her essay, For years the
following scene would play daily at our house: Home from school, my daughter would have her
backpack off her shoulder and let it thud to the hall floor, then jump her jacket on top of the pile (Dove
503).
However, when I first read this I thought to myself about my habits and how I do things around the
house. What ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She gives reasoning of why people become addicts and I think it strengthens her essay.
In addition, Ms. Rita Dove also explains in her essay that, It is not that we confuse TV with reality, but
that we prefer it to reality the manageable struggle resolved in twenty six minutes, the witty repartee
with the family circle instead of the grunts and silence common to real families; the sharpened conflict
and defined despair instead of vague anxiety and invisible enemies (Dove 504). This statement is
however pretty true because what goes on TV maybe reality and some may not. For example, on TV
now a days we have what we call reality TV and what we call Cartoons. But, in any case how you see
it on TV is not always reality because you can t see what you re actually watching in person. Even
though they do portray the real things that go on around the world.
In conclusion, in both case between these two essays however in Dove s essay she doesn t really set
limits for her daughter. So, maybe if she did set limits for her daughter she

The Importance Of Studying And Observing An Industrial...
2.3 Career Episode 3 2.3.1 Introduction. In this career episode, I describe an industrial engineering
task which I undertook as part of my educational program in Ph.D. degree in School of Engineering
University of South Australia, Australia (2012 2016). In this task, I proposed systems thinking
conceptual framework for studying and observing an industrial system phenomena. I implemented this
framework to a real industrial system in a case study and recommended the operational system
improvements for optimising the system performance. 2.3.2 Background. Industrial Engineering is
concerned with the design, improvement and installation of integrated systems of people, materials,
information, equipment and energy. It draws upon specialised ... Show more content on

Therefore, in this task, I reviewed and investigated what systems thinking is, validated its proposed
definition and applied it in a case study of the real integrated industrial supply chain system and
recommended improvements in the efficiency of this system operations. 2.3.3 Personal Engineering
Activity 2.3.3.1 Systems Thinking Definition. I clarified the ambiguities in systems thinking
definitions. I reviewed the historical and philosophical perspectives underlying systems thinking and
the categorisation of the systems thinking literature which has led to a proposed systems thinking
conceptual framework. I established how systems thinking is influenced by: six influential theoretical
approaches (tektology, general systems thinking, cybernetics, systems complexity hierarchy, hard and
soft systems and critical systems thinking); three methodological approaches (functionalist,
interpretive and emancipatory); and two practical perspectives of systems thinking (methodologies
and conceptual application) (see Figure 5). Systems thinking has been applied, with useful results, to a
wide variety of practical situations of interest. I concluded that the most important role of the systems
thinking literature is as a conceptual understanding. To clarify the ambiguities of systems thinking
definitions, I proposed that systems thinking can be defined as a conceptual understanding or mental

The American Dream has become a death sentence of drudgery, consumerism, and fatalism: a garage
sale where the best of the human spirit is bartered away for comfort, obedience and trinkets. It s
unequivocally absurd. Zoltan Istvan. In both This Side of Paradise and This Beautiful and Damned, F.
Scott Fitzgerald comments on the corruption of the American Dream. Throughout the beautiful text
and prose of his first and second novels, respectively, Fitzgerald mocks the ghastly nightmare the
American Dream has become. The former follows the story of the downfall of a wealthy, promising
young man struggling to gain romantic success, who enlists in the army along the way, to a poverty
stricken alcoholic struggling to now gain romantic and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The whole idea of rags to riches embodied the work ethic of the 1920s and previous decades as the
idyllic Golden Age of flappers and mobsters thrived. However, the ideology was flawed in itself that
people were striving for money and not happiness. The average American assumed that happiness was
money and were therefore obsessed with the culture of the attaining money. While this was also
mostly a time of attempted moral reinvigoration in the older generations, baring the Prohibition and
all, many would do whatever they could to get what they wanted, which in most cases was money to
buy nice things. Everyone s goal was to become extravagantly wealthy or to die trying. The saddest
part of it all is many went to the grave unable to fulfill their actually quite impossible dream.
Fitzgerald presents these stories in the format of citizens who are already wealthy and actually living
the American Dream so as to make it more glamorous than having seen the grueling work done by
some close relative. This almost further empowers the culture of materialism as it sets the scene, only
to deplore it as the books go on. These people start out pampered and are presumed to become even
more wealthy and powerful but spiral downward as they fail to find happiness in their lavish lifestyles.
In This Side of Paradise, this is exactly the case. In one aspect, Amory Blaine is already

The Importance Of Colors In The Chinese Culture
The author attempts to understand the connotations of colours in the Chinese culture and how it
shapes its day to day socio political and economic transactions. The author elucidates and develops the
theory of Keane about the transfer of messages in context to the established relationships among the
people belonging to specific cultures. The author employs ethnographic research tactics in order to
experience and understand the basic connections of the colours with that of the Chinese culture. The
main argument of the paper establishes that there could be more complex relationships between the
perceptions of colour among diverse cultures across the world. The study precisely focuses on the
meanings of the materials to convey the nature of the relationships.
Toulson attempts to explore the meanings of materials especially the colours that carry more than just
a message or compliment. It enables my own understanding regarding the functioning of meaning
making and its relevance to the basic cultural etiquettes of a culture. The author makes the study very
interesting by inferring the importance of red colour of envelopes (hóngbāo) that appear at
Singaporean Chinese funerals. It is very thought provoking because of the fact that colours do are
important to certain cultures. The paper attempts to draw a relationship between death and the colour
(red) that represents it. The red colour has an intimate relationship with the sociocultural notions of
China including the Christians

The Job Description of an Archaeologist is to examine artefacts and history that range from prehistoric

Where and when an excavation takes place is contingent upon the archaeologist s research project and
the local weather. Excavation season is typically during the summer and archaeological digs typically
last one week to three months, Before, during and after archaeologists dig for artefacts, they collect
data about the archaeological site, record interviews and make notes of their observations. Some types
of data include photographs, maps, soil samples, measurements, drawings and detailed reports about
the excavation. Archaeologists also survey the site using GPS technology and other electronic devices
and input data into databases. Artefacts discovered and obtained through excavation undergo a
conservation process in a lab. They are cleaned and restored by trained conservators, and as the items
are stabilized, additional notes are made to record their characteristics. Archaeologists are typically
actively involved in conservation activities and may take measures to ensure laws exist to preserve the
sites. They want to protect cultural heritage by ensuring sites and remains are properly

I can t wait for summer, and I hope I can do more than I have ever done on summer vacation. First, I
would want to visit Lake Tahoe, the reason is, the last time I went it was amazing and I had a great
time. I have always wanted to go to swimming at Lake Tahoe in the summer because the water there is
so clear and fresh. I would also want to go hiking if I get the chance because I have never gone on a
hike and I imagine it to be fun, but also difficult. I would want to go to Lake Tahoe to spend time with
my family and without having to worry about going back home for work or to do anything. I would
want to have a trip to get away and just have some fun with the family. Going to Lake Tahoe is a YES
on my summer vacation because it is great and since I have been there I know what I like and what is

Walmart s Argumentative Essay On Food Stamps
In last week s activity, we had to put ourselves in the shoes of a parent with a nine year old child, who
relies on food stamps in order to eat every week. We had forty two dollars to spend on groceries from
the food stamps and had to make it last a week. Our strategy consisted of picking the cheapest types of
food we could find that had a lot of servings, while also making sure the nutrition was somewhat
sufficient to keep us healthy. We used Walmart to shop for groceries since it had the cheapest prices
compared to local grocery stores like Publix. Planning out the meals, we realized that living on only
forty two dollars a week for food really limited the variety of our diet. We realized that having a child
to support with this low variety ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When more and more food stamps are being issued, the economy just looks weaker and weaker, as
there must be less and less jobs around at the time. Also, while not always true, some people that rely
on food stamps might not be motivated to work a lot since they are being fed for free, and simply to
not need work. This creates an unhealthy dependence on the government, which may destroy
motivation to work since these people can freeload of the government for food, hurting the economy.
The system should help those in poverty get up on their feet instead of babying them for their entire
life. Another problem with food stamps is that they are a little too generous for the people who are
capable of work. During the activity, we learned that getting enough food to get us by was not very
difficult. While a large variety of foods wasn t available, the amount of food we could purchase was
more than enough for a welfare system. This just makes it easier for dependence, since there s not a
ton of motivation due to all of the free meals. This a problem because the taxpayers have to continue
to pay for people who aren t motivated to get out of

How Is Roman Civilization Successful
Roman Civilization The Roman civilization was a successful and powerful civilization that began
around 753 BC. Rome was equipped with a mighty army, strong leaders, and Roman organization.
(Aaron.J.Elcock 2011) Although problems did come, Rome was able to bend and transform to fit the
ever changing world. These are some of the factors that led the Roman civilization to be one of the
most successful places in history. The Roman s way of living contributed heavily to the Western world
in political, social, and cultural matters. Rome began as a small Italian city state ruled by a monarchy.
(Grant 1976) Over the years the city expanded from Italy to Carthage. Next, the Romans took over the
Western Mediterranean and the Eastern Mediterranean as well, becoming a civilization and eventually
an empire. Then there was a transformation in Rome. An emergence of Christianity, a division of the
empire, and the Barbarians were threatening Rome. There was also chaos in the empire because of
financial troubles and natural disasters. Some thought their problems were caused by the god s anger
because of Christianity in the city. After being weakened by attacks from multiple barbarians, the
Romans were attacked and defeated by the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Reagan And Goneril In King Lear By William Shakespeare
It is popularly repeated that we do not appreciate the things or people that form a part of our life until
we squander them. William Shakespeare depicts a flawless illustration of this throughout his play,
King Lear. Not only does he display how much it can impact a person, but he also exhibits that we
must learn to preserve before we lose what we have. King Lear, the protagonist of the play carrying
the same name, opens the scene asking for words of love coming from his daughters in order to divide
his kingdom among the three. Both his eldest and middle daughters, Reagan and Goneril, proceed to
do the following in an overly exaggerated manner, which, although unrealistic, isn t very much

When he realizes that he was erroneous by disowning his youngest daughter, he falls into a cycle of
thoughts that only bring him regret. As events begin to unravel in his life and he sees that Regan and
Goneril are harsh and unappreciative, he finds out that the one who truly loved him and the one who
would have been willing to pick him back up when he needed her help was truly Cordelia. Moreover,
The Fool, Lear s protector, tells him about the huge mistake he made and attempts to advise him
during this period of time. Once he falls into the realization of what he has done, Lear is deeply
embarrassed to show his face to Cordelia because he cannot bear to look at her straight in the face and
concede by accepting that he was wrong for disowning her. Thus, all of the problems that have piled
up onto Lear s life allow him to realize that his values and qualities were not set straight, and the
remorse then haunted him allowed him to clarify his mind about the consequences of the measures he
had taken. The play, when analyzed, permits the readers to take a lesson from the story of the king and
his three daughters. Additionally, by emphasizing the aftermath of his reactions to the incidents in his
life, the reader can observe that following the steps of Lear would only lead to self destruction and
massive anguish within his or her mind. The tragedy is no more than a lesson that we must reevaluate
what we possess and control our emotions before proceeding to make a decision on something that
may permanently harm us or hurt us

  • 2. The Individualization of Elizabeth Bennet in Pride and... The Individualization of Elizabeth Bennet in Pride and Prejudice Midway through Pride and Prejudice, Elizabeth Bennet arrives at a moment of self awakening which, notably, results from the influence of someone else: Fitzwilliam Darcy. For critic Susan Fraiman, this complication amounts to no less than, as she titles her article, The Humiliation of Elizabeth Bennet. From this moment forward, according to Fraiman, Elizabeth Bennet ceases to think for herself. She submits to Darcy as to a second father, relinquishes her trust in her own judgments, and thereby suffers a loss of clout. 1 This pivotal moment comes because, after Elizabeth has rejected his proposal, Darcy justifies himself in a lengthy letter. It is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... By accepting the fact that she has misjudged Darcy, Wickham, Jane, and Bingley, Elizabeth sharpens her ability to discern character. In turn, she develops a solidly based self confidence. Before Elizabeth s independent judgments can be formed, she must work her way painstakingly out of her existing prejudice. It is true that Darcy essentially forces his letter into Elizabeth s consciousness. He has no other choice. The day after Elizabeth has rejected him, he waits along the path where she takes her morning walks, waylays her when she tries to avoid him, and even then must thrust his letter at her. Elizabeth s impetus to free herself from her initial prejudice against Darcy is, thus, involuntary. Because Elizabeth naturally seeks truth, she instinctively (129) takes the letter from the hands of this man who has so offended her that she cannot believe any apology to be in his power (134). Unable to shut out all reason completely, Elizabeth begins to move beyond her hatred. With the strongest curiosity, (129) she focuses on the unalterable truth of Darcy s letter. Attention to Darcy s viewpoint is essential for the reader as well as for Elizabeth. Throughout the text, the reader has viewed Darcy s character mainly through the filter of Elizabeth s prejudice. Even Darcy s proposal, which should have indicated the beginning of Darcy s redemption, is distorted into Elizabeth s version: Austen does ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. My Observation Of My Preschool Observation The purpose of my Preschool Observation is to observe the behavior of a three year old toddler in a head start school setting. The child s name is Adam Johnson, he is three years old, I do not know the child. I knew that if I did not know the child it would be a better observation. My purpose is to objectively observe the two year old toddler without bias responses of my observation in full descriptive details. My observation of the three year old preschool is to explain the domains of development and how these domains intersect with one another as the child grows. There are six developmental domains in early childhood development; which are physical, language, aesthetic, cognitive, emotional, and social domains. I chose a group of preschool children that ages range from three to five. I chose a little boy named Adam who is the age of three years old. Adam attends head start, which he has attended the school since six months of age. The observation takes place in the classroom; which also has a playroom sectioned off with a half wall for the preschoolers. The colorful room consists of space subdivided into play areas to manipulate, explore, snuggle, and play with, share, and interest areas for differing purposes such as learning according to the appropriate age. One part of the room is set up for dramatic play with a doll house, child sized furniture such as chairs, couches, and block seats arranged on an area rug with bright colors. The dramatic play area is a cabinet, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Lutheranism Movement Lutheranism as a religious movement originated in the early 16th century; once Lutheranism spread the movement became a prime component in many military conflicts. The Lutheran church is the oldest protestant Christian tradition. The teachings started back with Martin Luther. He was the one who the Christians chose and they accepted his teachings. October 31, 1517 Luther who was a catholic monk posted his 95 theses as a challenge to the doctrine and practices of the Catholic Church. Martin Luther has been called the father of reformation. Lutheranism started showing up in Europe after a century of reformer stirrings. In Germany the Lutheran movement became very popular very fast. The early days of Lutherans were based mostly out of universities. They used what they learned; to essentially spread their faith among a vast community of scholars. Lutheranism could not only survive by the teachings of its professors. In the beginning ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The doctrine of justification was of central importance for the Lutheran reformation; taking place in the 16th century. The contributions that Martin Luther and Lutheranism made to western civilization went beyond what happened in the Christian church. The idea of reformation was embedded in western though well before the 15th century. The main point of the reformation was mostly in general reform and also to improve some to its original state. The renaissance and the beginning of the humanist movement laid the ground for religious turmoil. By the 16th century Lutheranism became established as the official religion of the German region. Martin Luther s 95 theses had its share of controversy when it came to politics. Today Lutheranism has spread from its beginnings in the 16th century to all of the continents. • 5. Orthodontic Research The first idea of orthodontics has come when finger pressure manifested tooth movement. With the development of this branch of dentistry, there is constant research to create appliances which can move teeth ideally This has led clinicians trying to specify many appliances able to move the teeth, most of them include wires. Wires in many shapes, sizes, and materials (metallic alloys) are typically part of the orthodontist s inventory. Wires, and auxiliaries fabricated from wire (helical closed coiled and open coiled, uprighting, and rotating springs) can make dental displacements through delivering force or simply through carry force from one location to another within the dentofacial complex. It also may prevent unwanted tooth movement. • 6. Signs Life In The Usa Analysis When you think about technological progress chances are you think about your own life becoming more convenient. A fire was easier to start with a chunk of flint than rubbing two sticks together, and once it was discovered it was utilized out of convenience. Convenience has always driven innovation, so it s not an unrealistic assumption to expect a more convenient life in the future. It s not all sunshine and rainbows though, as convenience means work transferred to machines, which means less work for people. In the past this has meant a transfer in the job market, old careers being replaced with new ones, and fields opening up which did not exist before. With the automation possible today we are seeing an exponential trend of automation, with more jobs being replaced by machines than are being ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In Sonia Maasik and Jack Solomon s anthology Signs of Life in the USA, they include an essay by Jenkins, in which he introduces his black box fallacy, stating that humanity will always look for a singular device that will accomplish virtually every task. Jenkins uses such examples as smartphones to illustrate the natural pursuit to converge all our tasks onto one device (Jenkins 427). Jenkins argues that this is an impossibility, and that as new technology is developed old technology must adapt. While we may never quite reach Jenkin s black box we can come close, as demonstrated by the very example he uses. A smartphone may be replaced by a device even more useful someday, but in the present exists as an invaluable communication device. Why Is Archeology Important In American History Archeology has been a great discovery that has contributed to our knowledge of American history because if it wasn t for all the physical remains of the past we wouldn t be able to have a comprehensive understanding of the culture in previous times, or the story itself of how everything happened and became to be. All the American history we know as we do is because of all the evidences that prove the past existence, life, culture, intentions, and differences between people. Introduction This report is to help introduce the low income of countries such as Chad and Papua New Guinea, and comparing them to a country such as Sweden who has no income. For years, certain countries, as the two listed above cannot maintain a lifestyle with the incomes that are available to them. Using incomes will help to see where the problem is occurring and how it might be approached to aid the countries. Reporting on the countries will give insight into a historical background including independence of the countries, along with education, literacy, life factors, and poverty by using the GINI to show how wide the gaps can be and become. Historical Background In 1946 Chad became an Overseas Territory of France and on August 11, 1960 obtained independence, but short lived, because of a tyrant dictator, Francois Tombalbaye, who never really released them from his grip, and Chad had been in a civil war, until 1990 when Idriss Deby, a military commander, took control and with his rule, multi party politics has returned to Chad, giving some freedoms back to its citizens (Chad s long road to independence, 2010). Papua New Guinea was under the government of Australia, and the UN pushed Australia to give Papua New Guinea independence and help create a group that would be able to run a government through social and educated influences. Mississippi, and trial of Tom Robinson in Harper Lee s To Kill a Mockingbird The purpose of this essay is to compare three very similar cases, the Scottsboro Trials, Brown v. Mississippi, and the fictional trial of Tom Robinson in Harper Lee s To Kill a Mockingbird; and to prove why the defendant of the third trial never had a chance. Each took place in the rural South in the 1920 s and 30 s and involved the unfair conviction of young black males by all white juries pressured by the threat of mob violence. Each lacked the evidence sufficient for conviction, most especially for the death penalty. Last, heroes emerged from each trial and made small but solid steps towards equal justice for all. ... The Supreme Court granted the Scottsboro boys new trials on the grounds that they did not receive adequate legal counsel. In this second round of trials, presided by Judge James E. Horton, Ruby Bates denied that she or Victoria Price had ever been raped (To Kill a Mockingbird: Then and Now). The hero in this case was Judge Horton. Despite public opinion in the region, Horton overturned the conviction of the jury, an unprecedented act. He wrote a thoughtful essay of the improbability of the crime and examined what evidence should have resulted from it. Very little of this expected evidence actually appeared and thus Judge Horton declared: It is therefore ordered and adjudged by the Court that the motion be granted; that the verdict of the jury in this case and the judgment of the Court sentencing this defendant to death be, and the same hereby is, set aside and that a new trial be and the same is hereby ordered. China has the second highest GDP in the world after the United States, and it is expecting that to surpass the American economy by 2025 (Zhao, 2014). Comparing the GDP of 2012 and 1978, there was a 142 times increase. The GDP per capita has increase 101 times as well. It has lifted more than 500 million people out of poverty (Zhao, 2014). This economic miracle is credited to the economic reforms that started in 1978, which in many ways, learned from the experiences of the model of developmental state in Korea and Japan. These series of reforms put China s economy back to track after the Great Leap Forward, a failed and catastrophic social and economic campaign between 1958 and 1961, and the Great Proletarian Cultural Revolution, a devastating turmoil between 1966 and 1976. • 12. Imperialism, The Middle East, And East Asia Large busy markets, snake charmers, carpet vendors, and veiled women all invoke ideas of West Africa, the Middle East, and West Asia, but all these ideas come from Oriental fantasies from the nineteenth century. Edward Said the author of Orientalism said that Orientalism was ultimately a political vision of reality whose structure promoted the difference between the familiar (Europe, West, us ) and the strange (the Orient, the East, them ). The nineteenth century was a period of imperialism and tourism that led many western artists to visit West Africa, the Middle East, and Asia. Orientalist paintings depicted two major effects, many artists often portrayed something exotic, which was racialized, feminized, and from a sexualized culture from a faraway land. Another effect that artists mainly like Jean LĂ©on GĂ©rĂŽme often showed was an authentic glimpse of a location and its inhabitants. Nochlin mentioned that many of GĂ©rĂŽme s paintings worked to persuade their audiences by carefully representing a preexisting Oriental reality. Imperialism is a policy or practice by which a country increases its power by gaining control over other areas of the world. French orientalist paintings in the nineteenth century were intended as propaganda in support of French imperialism, portraying the East as a place of backwardness, lawlessness, and savagery enlightened and disciplined by French rule. • 14. Napoleon Bonaparte’s Invasion of Russia Essay Napoleon s Invasion of Russia Napoleon Bonaparte s invasion of Russia was a major factor in his downfall. In 1812, Napoleon, whose alliance with Alexander I had disintegrated, launched an invasion into Russia that ended in a disastrous retreat from Moscow. Thereafter, all of Europe, including his own allies, Austria and Prussia, united against him. Although he continued to fight, the odds he faced were impossible. In April 1814, Napoleon s own marshals refused to continue the struggle and stepped down from their positions. During the actual Russian campaign, there were many key factors that greatly impacted his downfall. The largest army ever assembled for one single invasion was reduced to a mere fraction of its original size. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The artillery and small arms were years behind that of France. The Russian army was a conscription army, meaning that local farmers had to furnish a certain number of surfs for military service, as opposed to a professional, trained army where the government supplies the soldiers with all of their needs. An amazing half million soldiers had enlisted in Napoleon s Grand ArmĂ©e (Saglamer, Beginning of the March). This was the largest army gathered for one single invasion. Russia s army was out numbered 3:1 with only one hundred seventy thousand soldiers. Not only was the Russian army not well trained, they were also ill equipped. Napoleon recognized that it would be difficult and extremely slow for Russia to mobilize her army due to her enormous size and weak infrastructure. If Napoleon invaded now, he knew that he could be well into the Russian territory before meeting any major opposition. On June 24, 1812, Napoleon began his fatal Russian campaign. The Grand ArmĂ©e, led by Napoleon, crossed the Nieman River, into Russia. On the journey to Moscow, Napoleon met virtually no major opposition. The first stop in the campaign was Kovono. Early into the campaign, the Grand ArmĂ©e was affected by a colic epidemic that claimed the life of nine thousand horses and thousands of soldiers (Web, Russian Embassy). This slowed the pace of the army. Harsh weather conditions caused the dry roads to turn to mud, making it extremely difficult to maneuver the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

While Dillard is in her bathroom calling attention to the spider s web, she uses both inversion and repetition, Her six inch mess of web works, works somehow, works miraculously, to keep her alive and me amazed (2). This sentence uses works repetitively in succession, this seems to reaffirm that the web is the device that captures the dead bugs and shows her awe towards the spider s mechanism. Particularly by calling her cat gold, Dillard creates striking imagery since a cat is not often described as gold. This creates emphasis on the continued theme which capitalizes on the symbolism of the flame and the call to write that Dillard struggles with. In the work itself, Dillard mentions that there are sixteen or so corpses she has tossed to the floor (2) and a novel about Rimbaud that had made me want to be a writer at when I was sixteen (5). Although not directly stated in the text, it is also important to note that Rimbaud, the subject of the book she read in the mountains, ran away at the age of sixteen. This most likely emphasizes the point Dillard is trying to make that by deciding to be a writer a huge sacrifice is made, just like how the dead bugs sacrificed themselves to be the spider s prey. When doctors are searching for a place to reside some hospitals will offer a bonus usually between 24,000 to 150,000 depending on what specialty doctor one is. She says that negative or neutral attitudes towards the elderly are common in this youth oriented society because the youth of today lack interest and caring of other individuals including the elderly (Heise et al). This type of attitude prevents the care that is needed for those who will take care of people as doctors in the United States; therefore, the second cause of the doctor shortage is in fact lack of care. In fact according to a study because of the lack of interest in one year only 75 residents entered the geriatrics field. The study shows that if this rate continues the number of needed specialist in geriatrics will rise to approximately 1,200 per year (Fried). The book most closely deals with the ultimate result that stems from a Marxist slogan, From each according to his ability, to each according to his need. The world that Rand creates has few differences from reality at its start, but as the story progresses, real world ideologies are taken to the extreme, and societal collapse appears to be imminent. Much of this is revealed through the thoughts and actions of a character that appears to be Rand s self insert, Dagny Taggart. Her gender also seems to contribute to the disdain that many characters hold for her. Because of Dagny s refusal to excuse shortcomings for any reason, she pays little attention to any sexism in her profession. Since much of the book is written with her thoughts at its forefront, Dagny s alienation based on gender is easily forgotten. However, it is still evident. Rand does not ignore sexism; she merely refuses to overplay it. One of the rare mentions of Dagny s gender in her work is found on page 771, where Bertram Scudder introduces Dagny on his talk show with, the last descendant of an illustrious name in our industrial history, the woman executive possible only in America. This comment is brief, and appears harmless, but there is a deeper significance within it. Scudder uses the words, only possible in America, to attribute Dagny s success to her circumstance, detaching it from her own effort. This is one of the ways that several characters in the book justify their prejudice against anyone who is better off than them; they attribute any achievement or detriment to circumstance, minimizing the accomplishments of others and excusing their own behavior. The characters who exhibit gender bias against Dagny are not limited to men. In fact, much of the sexism of which she is subject comes from other women. Readers are exposed to this in a brief encounter with a minor character named Betty Pope, who expresses her disdain for Dagny, calling her a grease monkey. . .posing around like a big executive, (Rand, 73). She then comments on Dagny s femininity, or lack thereof, implying that running a railroad is a task that is beneath a proper woman. The next obvious drag on Dagny s femininity comes from her brother s second source of companionship, his wife Cheryl. I clarified the ambiguities in systems thinking definitions. I reviewed the historical and philosophical perspectives underlying systems thinking and the categorisation of the systems thinking literature which has led to a proposed systems thinking conceptual framework. I established how systems thinking is influenced by: six influential theoretical approaches (tektology, general systems thinking, cybernetics, systems complexity hierarchy, hard and soft systems and critical systems thinking); three methodological approaches (functionalist, interpretive and emancipatory); and two practical perspectives of systems thinking (methodologies and conceptual application) (see Figure 5). Systems thinking has been applied, with useful results, to a wide variety of practical situations of interest. I concluded that the most important role of the systems thinking literature is as a conceptual understanding. Moreover, The Fool, Lear s protector, tells him about the huge mistake he made and attempts to advise him during this period of time. Once he falls into the realization of what he has done, Lear is deeply embarrassed to show his face to Cordelia because he cannot bear to look at her straight in the face and concede by accepting that he was wrong for disowning her. Thus, all of the problems that have piled up onto Lear s life allow him to realize that his values and qualities were not set straight, and the remorse then haunted him allowed him to clarify his mind about the consequences of the measures he had taken. The play, when analyzed, permits the readers to take a lesson from the story of the king and his three daughters. Additionally, by emphasizing the aftermath of his reactions to the incidents in his life, the reader can observe that following the steps of Lear would only lead to self destruction and massive anguish within his or her mind.
