The Importance Of Academic Writing
The academic writing process has been around for ages, so the attributes that a scholarly piece, such
as this one, must possess in order to be efficient are no secret. All academic pieces of writing must
have a mix of the following qualities: objectivity, accuracy, and complexity. These attributes must
remain intact and must not waiver throughout each step of the writingprocess. This very process
that forces students to set creativity aside is proposed to assist in critical thinking skills, writing
skills, and embracing of a higher complexity of vocabulary, among other things, is often given
much more credit than is truly due. Both authors that wrote Academically Adrift: Limited Learning
on College Campuses conducted a study that took... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Breaking down each stage of the process and setting shorter term milestones and deadlines is also
recommended. Although many students will continue to procrastinate their papers, the students
that actively participate in the introductory stage of planning are setting themselves up to adopt this
efficient time management method in other facets of daily life. Most of the truly genuine planning
occurs in this stage. Once students have a keen understanding of what they re being asked to do,
they can continue to the planning stage of the writing process. In the planning stage, students do
most of their research on their respective topics. It s important that the main objective of the paper
remain in the forefront of students research, given that the first few searches that come up may not
be relevant to their topics. In this stage, students learn what it means to remain vigilant and not
wander from the task at hand. Students will encounter frustration regarding the relevancy of search
results; however, this frustration leads to learning how to craft efficient search queries regarding
their topic. Students should deconstruct their topic into various key points that must be addressed,
then research and gather information distinct to said points. Depending on the individual, gathering
citations can be interchangeable between steps. One may argue that

The Mystery Of The Myth
The myth is the belief that some languages just aren t good enough because they do not fulfill
certain criteria. Criteria such as not being able to act as a medium of speech to express new ideas,
to speak of science, to speak of high literature, and to be used internationally without having to
borrow vocabulary from other languages. English is probably the most infamous case of this myth
being false. As we know it English is probably one of the most widely spoken languages. English
has the ability to clearly express ones ideas, converse scientific terms, and speak of high literature.
However many of English s vocabulary are borrowed from Latin, French, and many other
languages. Under the criteria of those that believe that some languages are not good enough,
English is not good enough as a languagesince it borrows vocabulary from other languages. But
this is not true since English is a very prominent language and is very able to express new ideas
of all kinds. Another famous example that can be used to debunking this myth would be in the
case of Latin. When Latin first arose the Greek s believed that Latin just wasn t good enough to
be able to express complex thoughts. However as we know today this is terribly false. Latin was
one of the most wide spread languages that we know of today. Latin was also at one time a lingua
franca. It was used as a common language between speaks of different native languages to express
ideas. Not only was Latin used in science,

The Ethicality Of Animal Experimentation
Animal Experimentation has a long history for the use of humankind and animals are being used
in a large number to study and develop drugs for the diseases that human beings suffer from.
Between 17 million and 22 million animals are estimated to be used annually in the United States
in research, education, and testing and about 85 percent of these are rats and mice, and less than 2
percent are cats, dogs, and nonhuman primates (Office of Technology Assessment, 1986) (National,
R. C. S. 1988, p. 18).
Early Greek physician scientists, such as Aristotle, (384 322 BC) and Erasistratus, (304 258 BC),
performed experiments on living animals. Likewise, Galen (129 199 / 217 AD), a Greek physician

fact, animal models have never been validated (Results from Research on animals are not valid

not have the privilege of complete authority over other animals, and dictating which animals

Bonding In Othello
There are bonds in society that stem from a multitude of traits that one would share with another,
such as race, age, religious beliefs, wealth, social standing, and most especially, gender. Male and
female tend to be generalized as the main combination of the genders in relation to intimacy and
marital stigma in correlation to the Bible s Adam and Eve; however, that combination is not true
when the situation is societal bonds. As seen in works of literature from centuries back and even up
until now, there is a difference between maleto male bonding, female to female bonding, and male
to female bonding. In Shakespeare s Othello, he dissects the universal and timeless truth of the
bonds between the two genders that the majority of the modern... Show more content on

Since women have little to no power for themselves, there is not much use of clinging on to
other females for a push up the social scale. Two women teaming together is not the same impact
as two men teaming up together. The homosocial bond between women is broken and scarred
and has prevailed that way through history. Men would dictate the ideal woman whom had to
abide by the codes of silence and obedience. When women would transgress from these codes,
they would be seen as disorderly, which is a term which lead to cataclysmic destruction of social
order (Hall, 263). The least women would want to do is team up with other women whom are
looked upon as outcasts. Women are known to be evil and deceitful, so it isn t seen as a good
thing for women to come together to bond. As seen in Othello, the female to female bond is
skewed and is weak when women are not completely honest to each other. Emilia withheld
information from Desdemona, which eventually lead to both of their deaths. Women are not held
accountable for their honesty to each other, though it is seen to be a vital trait in order to be a
good wife to their husband. Desdemona and Emilia have this special homosocial bond that proves
to be strong near the resolution of the play, but throughout the rest of the story, was damaged and
not worthy of being compared to the male to male bond. The devastating part about female
bonding, is that

Exploration is portrayed through Alice. Alice is a curious, young girl who lives in the Victorian
times, she loves exploring and has lots of energy. The first thing Alice explores is the rabbit
hole. But Alice wouldn t have explored the rabbit hole, if it had not have been for the White

Alice wouldn t have gone into the rabbit hole because she didn t know where it was or what it is,

Alice s attention, so Alice goes down the rabbit hole, then Alice Explores Wonderland before

The Impact Of The British Revolution In Colonial America
Following the French and Indian War, Great Britain began to tighten control over the American
colonies. Britain constricted the rights of the colonists by enacting numerous pieces of legislation.
Some of these acts attempted to tax the colonists on products such as stamps, tea, and currency.
After which, what legislature was passed by the British Parliament, resistance from the American
colonists grew due to these policies of legislation. Changes in British policy in the 1770s, led to a
revolution in colonial America evident in political, economic, and social issues. The Revolutionary
War was caused by the British Parliament, one is because of the political issues. For example, on
January 14, 1776, George Greenville explained that Britain had the supreme legislative power over
America (Document 1). According to Greenville, Britain had this supreme legislative power
because Parliament had provided the colonists with much of their needs (Document 1). Greenville
continued that this was why British Parliament believed they had the power to impose taxes on the
American colonies (Document 1). As a member of British Parliament, Greenville believed that
America should obey Britain because of the protection the British provide to the colonies
(Document 1). Some of the protection the British provided was military protection from the Indians
(Document 1). Greenville s statement proved that Britain believed they were politically superior of
the American colonists. George Washington,

Ferrari Engines, Bicycle Brake
Written Analysis #3 The article I decided to read for the third analysis was Ferrari Engines,
Bicycle Brakes. This article was written by Edward Hallowell who is a psychiatrist that has
attention deficit hyperactivity disorder and dyslexia. Both of these disorders individually come
with a lot of different struggles. Throughout the article, Hallowell discussed his struggle as a
student and what/ who helped him get through school. One of the first things Hallowell
mentions was his first grade teacher, Mrs. Eldredge. She seemed to be his support system when
it came to reading aloud during class. From other research, I know that this can be very difficult
for students with dyslexia since they read slower, letters can get switched around, and whole
words can look switched around. Mrs. Eldredge stood by his side while he read, so that no one
would laugh at his stuttering or stammering (Hallowell, 2012). I believe this was a nice move by
her because she recognized his struggles, and did everything she could to make him feel
comfortable reading aloud in class. He ends up crediting many of his gifted teachers for him
becoming a good student and getting through college to get his degree as a psychiatrist (Hallowell,
2012). The next part of the article, Hallowell gives suggestions to teachers on how to... Show more

Managing Employee Retention and Turnover Essay
Managing Employee Retention and Turnover
Employee retention has always been an important focus for human resource managers. Once a
company has invested time and money to recruit and train a good employee, it is in their own best
interest to retain that employee, to further develop and motivate him so that he continues to provide
value to the organization. But, employers must also recognize and tend to what is in the best
interest of their employees, if they intend to keep them. When a company overlooks the needs of its
employees and focuses only on the needs of the organization, turnover often results. Excessive
turnover in an organization is a prime indicator that something is not right in the employee
environment. We will look at ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

marketable. It gives them a sense of job security. In today s workplace, the more training
employees get, the more likely the employer will retain them. According to a 1999 Emerging

employees who say their company offers poor training, 41 percent plan to leave within a year,

for employees on a personal level means more to many employees than compensation.

European exploration occurred when the Europeans started traveling to other countries in search
for many things that were outside of Europe. There were good and bad impacts that the Europeans

American tribes, Europeans wanted to expand their colonies, and other cultures were enslaved

The Journey Of Becoming A Prosecutor Essay
Zach Howard Mrs. Creel English IV 7 October 2016 The Journey of Becoming a Prosecutor The
prosecutor is the chief legal representative of the prosecution in countries with either the
common law adversarial system or the civil law inquisitorial system. The prosecution is the
legal party responsible for presenting the case in a criminal trial against an individual accused
of breaking the law. A prosecutor prosecutes someone for an illegal crime. There are different
rules in different states for a prosecutor. In some states, a prosecutor would have to show the
court a written statement of the felonies. In other states, the prosecutor must gather a Grand Jury
before charging the culprit with a crime. A Grand Jury is a group of people selected by the
prosecutors or prosecutor to review the evidence and tells whether the criminal is innocent or
guilty. The Grand Jury also puts their opinion out and sometimes they all do not agree if the
criminal gets prosecuted or not. A criminal prosecutor is also a type of lawyer. Becoming a
prosecutor has multiple steps from going to college and achieving a law degree, from clearing
the bar examination, and achieving the dreams of being a prosecutor. When I start college I have
to start with my basics first of course. Also, going to a community college to take my basics is
what I plan to do in succeeding to become a criminal prosecutor. Then, I plan on going to a
University to obtain my bachelor s degree. It

The Neolithic Settlement Of Catal Huyuk
The Anatolian Neolithic settlement of Catal Huyuk, which means forked mound, dates between
7000 and 5000 B.C.E. was one of the world s first towns and the oldest civilizations on earth.
Located in the Konya Plain in central Turkey, Catal Huyuk was considered the wheat growing
region. The main mound covered 32 acres and stood 57 feet above the plain with a distance of
3,000 feet above sea level. The population was estimated at upwards of 5,000 people, which was
based on the site and the cluster of houses. Mount Hasan, an inactive stratovolcano, located
approximately 87 miles from Catal Huyuk was painted on walls in homes depicting the
importance of the volcano. Obsidian was collected and used for trading in Catal Huyuk and
considered the first organized city state. Catal Huyuk was considered a religious and trade center.
The economy was centered on agriculture, manufacture, and the trade of raw and finished
products. Considered a farming community, plants such as wheat, barley and peas, as well as, a
variety of other grains and cereal along with the practice of raising cattle. Maize, wheat and peanut
was used to produce oils. During the Paleolithicand Neolithicera, obsidian, volcanic glass, was

A Very Short Introduction By Jonathan Culler
In Literary Criticism A Very Short Introduction, author Jonathan Culler writes on feminist theory:
on the one hand, feminist theorists champion the identity of women, demand rights for women, and
promote women s writings as representations of the experience of women. On the other hand,
feminists undertake a theoretical critique of the heterosexual matrix that organizes identities and
cultures in terms of the opposition between man and woman(Culler 140).
These two approaches, championing and critiquing can be found in both the works of Jane Austen
and E.M. Forster. In their novels, we welcome a central female character who flourishes into their
own understanding of the word, and provides their own literary voice to an overwhelmingly ...

Rather, Lucy s character is merely that, her own, a full embodiment of herself, and ultimately this is
the major revelation she transcends to through her journey in Forster s novel. Whereas Elizabeth
seeks to prove a point of equality, Lucy seeks to embody that point. This does not discount
Elizabeth s progressiveness, but rather is central to how these two characters embody a
continuum of feminism s development. Both Elizabeth and Lucy exhibit strong determination,
but contexts shape them differently. In the world of victorian England, Elizabeth Bennett rejects
the man she is destined to love because he outwardly does not met the decorum of society and
slights her with his mannerism. In a similar way, Lucy holds to her own private prejudices in her
rejection of George Emerson. But George Emerson is a far cry from Mr. Darcy; George being
someone who has grown up equalizing women whereas Darcy has grown up believing they have a
place. Therefore, for Lucy, expectations are different because the shift in gender equality is already
well underway. Throughout the novel bread crumbs are dropped for Lucy about her own potential,
whereas for the females of Austen s Longbourn, marriage is their only opportunity, their lone
certain way to escape. Even Elizabeth Bennett cannot escape this reality.
In A Room with A View the female character s autonomy is placed front in center. Furthermore,
femininity itself is burgeoning out of even

Equifax Data Breach
An analysis of the Equifax and Yahoo data breach
Introduction
A recent increase in large scale data breaches has exposed a multitude of cybersecurity
vulnerabilities that pose a definite risk to consumers (Lorio, 2017). In some cases, a data breach
can distress an establishment so much that other organizations experience a backlash from the
repercussions (Kosseff, 2011). The Equifax data breach of 2017 is a perfect example of this kind
of event as it caused an overwhelming economic repercussion that affected other major corporations
and more than 143 million credit card customers worldwide (Janakiraman, Lin, Rishika, 2018).

The findings described in a report prepared by the Office of Senator Elizabeth Warren list several
reasons for the Equifax data breach. The report states that Equifax had a defective cybersecurity
system in place to mitigate data security (Franke Ruta, 2018). This included deficient patch
management practices, inadequate end point email monitoring, a weak network segmentation
structure, insubstantial credentialing procedures, and fragile logging methods (Franke Ruta, 2018).
The warning came in an attack on the Apaches Struts application software used to protect
consumer data in the Equifax cybersecurity systems on May 13, 2017 (Franke Ruta, 2018).
However, Equifax did not notice signs of the malicious activity until July 29, 2017 (Franke Ruta,
2018). Officials at Equifax emailed staff members asking them to repair the weakness in the
system, yet they did not follow up on the request and confirm the repairs (Franke Ruta, 2018).
Because the company failed to patch the Apache Struts vulnerability, command injection attacks
occurred that allowed an unauthorized hacker to gain privileged access to an Equifax web server

What Is The Relationship Between Inequality And Inequality
Poverty, Modernity and inequality are amongst the most common words of the English language.
According to dictionary.com, poverty means the condition of being poor , modernity means the
state of being modern and inequality means lack of equality. These three words are interrelated.
Modernity (being modern) is something which only the rich can afford. The poor rarely get a
chance of being modernized due to a lack of money and other facilities. Since the poor are not
modern enough they are subjected to inequality in everyday tasks. This paper will discuss how the
poor are treated and the relationship between the words modernity, inequality and poverty.

Our daily needs are actually their luxuries. The poems also show that treating the poor badly is
considered normal. The poor people themselves have accepted the way they are treated and do
nothing to fight against it. If the poor people take a stand and fight for their rights they can
actually overthrow their masters and live better lives. This point is especially focused in Faiz s
poem Kutte . (Faiz ahmed faiz, 1943)
The poem The nobodys by Edvardo Galeano tells us that the poor never get lucky. Their dreams
never come true no matter how hard they pray or wish for it. The poet also tells us that along
with all other things the life of the poor is also considered as worthless. The poet says that The
nobodies, the ones who are worth less than the bullet that kills them. Which shows that even if they
are dead it is not considered as something big because their life has no worth since they are not rich

Legal And Ethical Issues Of Computing
Introduction One of the most significant concern facing IT industry in the 21st century is legal,
social, ethical and professional issues that are associated with appropriate uses of technologies in
computing. During the implantation of the Greenwich Freecycling website, many of these issues
were encountered. By deploying the correct combination of technologies that is available when
implementing the website some of these issues were conquered and overcome. Legal and
ethical issues in computing are not as straight forward as one expects, these two comprehensive
concepts can be divided into many sub sections such as computer Ethics which is a moral
standard used as a guideline for computer users, Code of ethics is a guideline in ICT, intellectual
property is the own work that is created by individuals, privacy refers to the rights that individual
and companies have and how their data is collected and restricted to outside sources, computer
crime is an illegal act that involves computers and finally cyber law which is laws that are related
to helping protect the internet and other online communication. professional bodies are the
mechanisms to help improve professionalism of individuals within the IT industry, by increasing
the competence and the skills of these individuals it will help to promote a better understanding of
the legal and ethical issues and what can be done to enhance and solve these issues respectively.

Outliers, By Malcolm Gladwell
Outliers, a statistical observation that is markedly different in value from the others of the
sample. This basically states that anything that lies outside of the norm is an outlier. In the book
Outliers, by Malcolm Gladwell he focuses on the different set of skills, timing, background, and
effort a successful person needs to have in order to become successful. Unlike most books or
biographies that write about the intelligence and ambition of an individual, this book looks
around the individuals, instead of directly at them. Gladwell look at the outliers of these
individuals, and determines how they have become successful, either by their skill, their luck,
their effort, and their whole background and what lies around them. Gladwell had several ideas
he had based people s successes on, one of which were their skills. He focused on whether a
person was capable of being successful in their career path. Not just their IQ, or their ability to
perform a task well, but whether their social skills were also capable or not. Gladwell states that
it is not possible to make it far alone, so he would check to see if an individual wasn t an
awkward loner who excelled in only academically. Gladwell would not only look at SAT scores
and how well they did in school, but look at how creative or innovative an individual was.
Another concept that Gladwell looked at was the timing of their birth, or the importance of their
birth. Gladwell was able to look at the trends and how well one was

The decision to pursue masters in engineering management...
The decision to pursue masters in engineering management has not happened suddenly. Over the
past 5 years, several aspects of my studies and work built the passion and interest in the field.
I enjoyed my engineering education in general and did fairly well. However, I particularly excelled
in courses that dealt with management, communications and humanities. The following graph
shows the overall picture.
After my undergraduate studies, I decided to gain expertise in management but I also did not
want to lose my technology edge as I loved both disciplines. I got offers from Accenture (Fortune

Comparison Of The Lost Generation In The Great Gatsby
The 1920s witnessed a dramatic social and political change. The nation s total wealth had doubled
between 1920 and 1929, and this economic growth swept many Americans into an affluent but
unfamiliar consumer society. Moreover, The Lost Generation represented a group of writers in
1920s who shared the belief that they were lost in a greedy, materialistic world that lacked moral
values and often choose to flee to Europe. And one particular example was F. Scott Fitzgerald.
Francis Scott Key Fitzgerald was the only son of an unsuccessful father and a provincial mother.

daughter of an Alabama Supreme Court judge. They fell deeply in love, and, as soon as he

Zelda. In 1920, their marriage was held and spent most of his life with Zelda in New York. Zelda
was a wild child, who smoked, drank alcohol, and snuck out of her parents house to spend time
with boys when she was in high school. Her friends described her as fearless, daring, and
attention seeking. Their marriage was incredibly tumultuous. It was reportedly a toxic marriage,
complete with alcoholism, mutual infidelity, and jealousy. . In 1924, Fitzgerald got a flight to
France and joined The Lost Generation . Then, in 1934, he published Tender is the Night ,
which described this society. In 1930, Zelda suffered her first nervous breakdown and moved to
various clinics in Switzerland. Fitzgerald published the short story One Trip Abroad, about an
American couple who fall apart in Europe. Then he met Ernest Hemingway and had a rocky
friendship with him. However, Zelda was over jealous and accused her husband of having a gay

How To Regulate Alcohol And Tobacco Advertising
Alcohol and tobacco advertising is not a new concept to this world. Alcohol and tobacco
advertising has been going on since the mid 1900 s. During this time, alcohol and tobacco ads
were on the TV almost as much as regular programs (Danna). This source is credible because the
author has written many articles for the Chicago Tribune before. When alcohol and tobacco
advertisingfirst started they actually argued that smoking and drinking was beneficial for the
human body. Since then, the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau and many other
departments have tried to put in laws and acts to help regulate the advertisement of alcohol and

Passivity and Impotence in Mary Shelley s Frankenstein
Passivity and Impotence in Frankenstein
There are many ways to interpret a literary text, especially one as laden with ethical questions and
literary allegory as Mary Shelley s Frankenstein. Shelley s complex family dynamic her conflicted
relationship with her father, her need to please her mentor/husband with literary success, her infants
deaths enhances the intrigue of the novel and suggests multiple themes and layered meanings. One
discernible theme in Frankenstein is illuminated by the bold line that separates male character from
female: The men inevitably fail the women whom they claim to love, but the women are
maddeningly passive, seemingly blind to the men s inadequacies. Here, however, this passivity is a

Victor glorifies his own childhood and his parents responsibility for his happiness when he

Like Alfonse, Victor excels at female worship but falls a step beyond Alfonse s well meaning
ineptitude into a deep crag of impotence. Throughout the novel, Victor speaks of Elizabeth in

Why Do Farmers Do Not Have The Right To Fix Their Own...
John Deere Tractor, farmers could pull out a toolbox in the middle of a field and fix what
needed fixing, just about every time. It was that simple for them, and they could get right back
to what they were doing, and meet their deadline. Nowadays, farmers can not do that. The
Digital Millennium Copyright Act of 1998 creates it so farmers do not have the right to fix their
own tractors, because of the programming that is in those said tractors. That programming is set
so that only certain people can log into the program and push a few buttons on a computer and
whala, its fixed. They do not come on the exact date that you break down though. The farmer
would have to wait a few days, or find a way to get their machinery all the way to the dealer to get
fixed. That is where the catch comes in. Many people think that taking their equipment to the dealer
will take a short amount of time, but instead, that could take multiple weeks at a time. Farmers, do
not have that kind of time. They need to get things done at a certain deadline, as fast as they can,
which means that they need to have their equipment fixed as fast as they can now. If not, it could
cause delays in planting and harvesting, which could end up in a loss of profits and some even
angrier farmer. (Farmers demand right...)... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Pablo Neruda praises light at the beginning of the poem twice with figurative language. He states
Light like a green latticework of branches and Drifting down like clean white sand. By stating
this, Neruda is telling us that light is beautiful and pure. So the theme of this ode is that light
should be praised, is beautiful, and is important. In the same way, Mary Oliver uses figurative
language throughout the poem to convey the theme of her poem. Mary Oliver states I thought
the earth remembered me, she took me back so tenderly. Oliver is trying to convey the idea of
mother nature taking her kindly and gently. Another piece of figurative language in Sleeping in
the Forest that reveals the poem s theme is By morning I had vanished at least at least a dozen
times into something better. This hyperbold reveals to us that Oliver s mind went to a better place
while she was in nature, meaning that nature is relieving a stress free. Therefore, the theme of
Sleeping in the Forest is that nature is a better place to be in and nature is peaceful. The themes of
Ode to Enchanted Light and Sleeping in the Forest are both about the beauties of nature, however,
one is about sleeping and darkness while the other one is about light. These themes tell reader that
the poets have a positive and loving perspective towards nature.

Essay on Should Direct Democracy Be More Widely Used in...
Government and Politics Megan Barry
Should direct democracy be more widely used in the UK? Direct democracy is a form of
government in which all laws are created by a general vote of society. This means that political
decisions are put forward to the people as they are the ones who are going to be directly affected
by the outcome of the decision. An example of direct democracy used occasionally in society is
referendums. A referendum is a general vote by the electorate on a single political question which
has been referred to them for a direct decision. Within this essay I am going to be arguing whether

Another argument for direct democracy being used more widely in the UK is that it prevents the
government and MPs making extremely unpopular decisions and ultimately, negatively impacting
on the general public s life. On many problems and issues it is particularly difficult for parliament to
know which way to vote, additionally with many issues that require accurate public opinion and
have considerable historical impact, for example, a constitutional change. Direct democracy not
only evades and prevents detrimental decisions for the whole country, but it also aids the
government and helps them to maintain their popularity and further circumvent an uprising or
protest. An example of this in the past is the Referendum on the changing of the voting system in
2011. In the 2011 referendum it was decided by the people that this voting change was not wanted.
Holding a referendum on this particularly issue prevented an unpopular decision that might have
been made by the government alone. This is significant because the government s popularity is
One final argument for direct democracy in the UK is that it increases the people s political
participation and engagement in current issues. When people are given the opportunity to have
their say, they are more likely to get involved in the process, thus increasing the accuracy of the
judgement. A successful and fully functional democracy relies on the involvement of the general

The Influence Of Hollywood In The Golden Age
Unlike today, Hollywood in the Golden Age controlled the product that it released and followed
a certain accepted agenda. Today, films and TV shows coming out of Hollywood no longer have
political agendas, strict censorship codes, or follow conservative American values that existed
in the Golden Age. In addition, today moviegoers no longer yearn for deep, meaningful movies
that the Golden Age provided or care to take influence from Hollywood. Hollywood today is far
less controlled politically than it was in the Golden Age, but today still tries to influence
viewers on what really goes on in politics in a negative light. Hollywood is No Longer controlled
by Tradition Conservative Values. Historian Franklin states the movie industry was a monopoly
until 1960. (Franklin 37). That from the Golden Age, spanning from the 1920s to the 1960s the
movie industry was capable of controlling the content of its films (Franklin 37). In fact,
Hollywood did a very good job of doing so, because most of the movies and shows before the
1960s had very traditional American conservative values with the strong patriarchal father figure
with a conventional family module. One example of these shows with strong American values
that I can think of that my parents grew up watching was Leave it to Beaver. Hollywood
producers and directors had these values under their grasp to portray how American families
should be among viewers. There is a far less political monopoly on themes coming out of

Examples Of Motivation In Beowulf
Beowulf s Motivation
(An educational research on why Beowulf did what he did) Beowulf was the first example of an
epic hero. Beowulf was a poem that some scholars have suggested was made at the end of the 10th
century (Harrison, Beowulf). The question of why Beowulf does things he does always comes into
play. The story of Beowulf starts off when he is in Geatland and hears that the Danes are being
attacked by a monster. Beowulf sails to Denmark to help them. It should be noted that the Geats
and Danes are not friendly towards each other. Beowulf defeats both monsters that attack Heorot

Why did he sail across the ocean just to help the Danes? Was it all really because he just wanted

one can not be glorious until they have done their duty. Beowulf s father even said that his glory

and risked his life defeating Grendel and Grendel s mother was so he could do his duty and get
all of the glory. Bigger than just doing his duty, Beowulf s motivation for saving The Danes from

When Doctors Make Mistakes, By Atul Gawande, And Columbia...
Communication is an essential tool needed to advance several major processes in society.
According to the Merriam Webster Dictionary, communication is the act or process of using words,
sounds, songs, or behaviors to express your ideas, thoughts, and feelings to someone else. Such
interaction between human being is significant due to the innate fact that we as humans are social
beings. Communicationnot only aids human beings in expressing ideologies, but in everyday

lack of communication can be lethal.
In the medical field, precision is of the utmost importance when it comes to successfully ensuring

11,497 and the team was valued at $222 million. In 2010, just before LeBron made the decision
to leave the Cavs to join the Miami Heat, the team had an average attendance of 20,562 and the
team was valued at $476 million. From 2003 2010, the Cav s raised annual revenue from $72
million a year to $160 million. This increase in revenue came from increase in postseason play,
ticket sales, merchandise, and more. It is astonishing that one player could double the attendance,
revenue, and team value, all in seven years.

Professor Sara Molloy
Abstract
Inez Beverly Prosser (1895 1934), was an African American psychologist of the early twentieth
century. Her main focus was on the significance of racism and its effects upon children relative to
the obtainment of fair and adequate education. This writing will address the endeavors, perspectives,
and accomplishments of this significant yet vastly under recognized African Americanfemale
psychologist. A psychologist who led us on a journey through her perspectives as seen through the

This theory focuses on the potential of an individual and the importance of self actualization. As an
educator, Prosser felt that Caucasian teachers within the institutions of the south were not equipped,
from a psychological perspective of the black culture to adequately teach African American
students. Prosser felt that the Caucasian educators could not relate to those students in the same
manner as an educator of the same race. Prosser set out to bring attention to the significance of her
view by creating, The Comparative Reliability of Objective Tests in English Grammar. The design
of this study was meant to demonstrate that the English grammar tests that were being administered
at that time were unreliable because they did not take into consideration the background or culture
of the African American students. During her tenure, Prosser conducted an extensive study to prove
this point. In her reason given for choosing Cincinnati for her research, this was made clear by her
following statement, (1) to measure vocational interests, leisure interests, play interests, social
participation, emotional or neurotic tendencies, social distance, ascendancy submission,
overstatement, introversion extraversion, and general personality adjustment. . . , (2) to ascertain
the difference, if any, that exists in these traits, and (3) to determine whether one or the other of
these schools is better fostering growth in personality in so

offer pediatric transplantation operations. As a result, pediatric hepatologists with experience in the
treatment of pediatric liver transplant patients are rare. Dr Lakhole s commitment to this field is
evident in the academic articles written by her in this field. One such article is titled Review of
Pediatric transplantation for which she reviewed 60 peer review publications. This will be
published in the reputed journal Expert Review Gastroenterology and Hepatology.

perhaps the best part about Destiny are the raids. Perhaps the most challenging activity known to
man, raids can take anywhere from 1 7 hours, require 6 players, and require your utmost

How Did The Soviet Union Collapse
The Soviet Union was at one time one of the two most powerful countries in the world, and yet
the Soviet Union is not longer in exists. How did this come to be? They were on the winning side
of World War II, with the United States. They were growing in size, and they were spreading
communism to other countries. They were on pace to be as powerful and influential as the United
States. While there are many reasons as to why the Soviet Unioncollapsed, the main reason is the
Cold War. There were also two very important people that contributed to the fall Ronald Reagan
and Mikhail Gorbachev. The Soviet Union was on the winning side of World War II. They had

Mikhail Gorbachev became the leader of a government that was set up to make reform impossible
and a stagnant economy. Due to these two hurtles Gorbachev tried to improve the Soviet Union.
But his improvements would only make the Soviet Union s problems worse. He did this by
introducing two knew polices. These polices were called Glasnost and Perestroika. Glasnost was a
policy put into effect for political openness. Through Glasnost Gorbachev hoped to eliminate
Stalinist repressions, such as banning books and the secret police. It gave new freedoms to the
Soviet citizens. Through the Glasnost policy political prisoners were released. The Soviet Union
newspapers were now allowed to print criticisms of the government, something had not been
allowed under communism. Probably the most important change brought on by Glasnost was that
other political parties, besides the communist party were now able to participate in

Preludes J Alfred Prufrock
In compliance with Jeanette Winterson s perspective, the struggle for resolution and meaning
within the Modern world due to the rapidly changing social context of the era is underscored
through the judicious use of poetic rhythms and images which has contributed to the enduring
value of poetry. The internal struggles due to the contradicting desire for relationships and the
desire for solidarity, and the uncertainty that underpins the search for spiritual fulfilment are
encapsulated in T.S. Eliot s poetry. This notion can be seen particularly through the thorough
examination of Eliot s poems Preludes (1917) and The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock(1915) as the
audiences over time are exposed to the complexity of the human psyche which illuminates... Show

Eliot displays these stresses of Modern Urban life through the dramatic monologue of the
protagonist Prufrock in his poem The Love Song of J.Alfred Prufrock which the speaker
embarks on a journey to try to overcome the powerful sense of meaninglessness in the world that
has lost its religious faith. The poem opens up with Prufrock constantly repeating the phrase Let
us go which is an invitation for the reader to travel with Prufrock as tries to find meaning in life.
This is due to the epigraph presented earlier whereby it alludes to Count Guido who is trapped in
Hell and must endure the same limited experience for eternity. This intertextual reference acts as
a mirror to Prufrock s psyche, asserting his dour thoughts on how his life is stalling and
meaningless. Prufrock states how he has measured out my life in coffee spoons which captures
the unfulfilling and boring nature of Prufrock s life. This metaphorical comparison crystallises
how his life is carefully calculated and lived in small and measured amounts, affirming the
banality of his life. Thus Prufrock embarks on an active search for meaning as evidenced by the
line Let us go .... Streets that follow like a tedious argument if insidious intent to lead you to an
overwhelming question ... do not ask What is it let go make our visit . Despite the modern society
suggesting there is no answer to the overwhelming question he can t help but pursue it because it
is purely instinctive. However, nearing the end of the poem Prufrock states even though he has
wept and fasted, wept and prayed he exaggerates that he is stretched on the floor which reveals
how his spiritual journey has tore him apart as there was no

The Unrealistic Expectations Of I Want A Wife By Judy Brady
In Judy Brady s essay I Want A Wife (1971), she presents the unrealistic expectations of a wife.
Brady presents her idea with repetition of I want a wife.. expectations from the husbands to the
wives, over statements and with rhetorical questions. Brady exaggerates a husband s expectations
for the wives in order to persuade the audience to believe wives are mistreated and overlooked by
their husbands. Brady addresses both husbands and wives in her essay by bringing attention the
husbands and the mistreatment of the wives. Additionally, she also brings attention to their wives
and the abuse they re facing. Throughout the majority of Brady s essay she uses repetition of the
phrase I want a wife.. . The phrases all describe the high and unrealistic expectations that a wife
must do to make her husband satisfied. Many of the expectations are similar to those of a
caretaker, nurse, and slave. When Brady states When I meet people at school that I like and want to
entertain, I want a wife who will have the house clean, will prepare a special meal, serve it to me
and my friends and not interrupt when I talk about things that interest me and my friends. , it shows
that a wife, in this instance, is much like a slave who obeys the dominant power in the household.

audience as some of the exaggerations may apply to the wives lives who are mistreated and may

Tet Offensive Book Report
I was pretty lucky to find this book because it directly focuses on my research question. This book
spotlights the Tet Offensive and the lasting effects that it had on America s involvement in the
Vietnam War. James Willbank s thesis states that the Tet Offensive was a pivotal event in the
Vietnam War that forever changed America s commitment to the cause. The organization of the
book is very well thought out. At first, he gives the audience a quick overview of the events
leading to the Tet Offensive. The author then separates each major event of the Tet Offensive
(Saigon/Embassy, Hue, Khe Sanh) into easy to read chapters. Willbanks then wraps up with the
media s involvement in the war and how it influenced the public s opinion.

Establishing Duty In Tort Law
Accidents happen all the time. An accident might happen on the job or while you are simply
enjoying a day off from work. Many of the injuries are a slip and fall accident that might have
happened on another person s property. The fact is that you can t just run out and file a slip and
fall injury claim. First, the claimant must establish that they have a valid slip and file case by
proving that the property owner was negligent in someone. Thus, causing the accident. Certainly,
establishing liability is the key to filing and winning a slip and fall case. Here is more to consider.
Establishing Duty
Duty must be established first, before filing the claim. Duty in tort law is the legal obligation of an
individual to take reasonable care to maintain their property. Certainly, it must be established that
the property owner failed to take reasonable care to prevent the accident. Thus, establishing that
they had control over the property and the situation that caused the injury. For example, a store s
manager had knowledge that the new floors in the store were very slippery and did not take
reasonable care to warn the customers about the situation. Thus, causing injuries to customers. The
plaintiff must prove that the store manager or store owner had control over the situation, in order to
win their case.

plaintiff must also prove that the owner of the property was fully aware of the condition and did
not take steps to correct the issue. Often, this is difficult to establish in a court of law without the
expertise of an experienced slip and fall

other unauthorized access to, data containing sensitive personal information that results in the

Last month, Heartland agreed to pay MasterCard issuers $41.4 million to settle claims over the
data breach, according to The Associated Press. In order for the deal to go through, 80 percent of
MasterCard issuers who filed claimed must accept the settlement by June 25 (Heussner, 2010).
TJX Companies 2007
Though it is now eclipsed by the Heartland hack, a massive intrusion on TJX Company Inc. s
systems a few years earlier is significant because it was one of the first to show just how
vulnerable retailers were. TJX Companies include T.J. Maxx, Marshalls and HomeSense.
In December 2006, the Framingham, Massachusetts based TJX alerted law enforcement that
cybercriminals had stolen more than 45 million customer records in 2003 and 2004. In January
2007 it went public with the news.
According to Information Week, within eight months, the company had spent more than $20
million investigating the incident, notifying customers and hiring lawyers to deal with the dozens
of associated lawsuits. The hack alerted the industry to the threat of cybercriminals and pushed
lawmakers to fast track data security legislation, Information Week reported (Heussner, 2010).

Analysis Of Edgar Allan Poe s The Cask Of Amontillado
The American Romantic/ Gothic period was basically the Renaissance of American literature.
American romantics were influenced by eras that before them, and their writings were a different
reaction against the philosophy of the previous eras. With this being said, American Romanticism
grew from salvation, and guilt, as they excitedly developed their own unique style of writing.
American romantic authors had a strong sense of general identity and pride in being American. For
this reason, American authors during this time had a discrete desire to develop their own unique
character separate from British literature. In order to accomplish this goal, the poet Edgar Allan Poe
was rebellious and personal in his writing; and this explains the extraordinary creativity found
throughout his work. Edgar Allan Poe had a unique and dark form writing style the mysterious
style of writing showed emotion and drama. He used the themes of Gothic, death of the women he
loved, and good vs. evil. These forms of writing styles are shown in The Cask of Amontillado , The
Raven , and Tell Tale Heart. It demonstrates all the major aspects of the American Romantic
revolution: rejection of classicism, eager naivety, and unusual detachment regarding time and space.
The story of The Cast of Amontillado is a classic Gothic horror tale of a mad man wanting
revenge. This short story can be quite frightening, because the narrator is able to keep a calm voice
during his manipulation and killing of

My Proposal to Revitalize the Block of Abandoned Houses at...
My proposal to revitalize the block of abandoned houses at 8 20 Oakmount Road, 1834 1844
Bloor Street West, and 3 17 Pacific Avenue, is to create an eco space that has the feel of a space
that is eco friendly and where people can come buy fresh produce, learn about eco friendliness,
admire the plants at the green houseand eco dome, or sit next to the fountain and admire the beauty.
This space could do so much for the community, instead of having a block of houses that benefit
no one. Here is a little history of the area of the houses. I was unable to find physical proof or
any source to back this statement up but, according to Mrs. Zubkewych, her 102 year old
neighbor that passed away some years ago named Ms. Grace Irwin was a historian for the Bloor
West Village. Ms. Irwin wrote a book about the Bloor West Village that can be found in the
archives section of the Annette Public Library. According to Mrs. Zubkewych Ms. Irwin told her
that the block of houses at 8 20 Oakmount road, 1834 1844 Bloor street west, 3 17 Pacific avenue
were built over 100 years ago, she said before they were houses the whole block used to be
owned be a doctor who made it into farm land. So therefore we know the soil is non toxic. The
reason the houses were recently torn down is because the owner was trying to get the permits to
build but was unable to so he sold the land to a development company. This ties into science
because we now know that the soil is not toxic or acidic (since plants can t

Similarities Between 30s And 70s
Of all the decades in the history of the United States, few experienced comparable growth to that
of the 1920s and 1990s. I believe these two decades, while 70 years apart, display similarities in
terms of economic growth, and subsequent downturn. While there can be no real obvious
similarities between entire decades, economic similarities are apparent but not identical in
timeline or structure, and can be found by looking at the behavior of each period s respective
stock markets and that of their consumers. Over the next few pages I intend to discuss some of the
key highlights of these decades and compare their economic and political similarities. The main

Radio, radio stations and shows exposed people to similar programming for the first time in
history and were in the homes of over 12 million Americans by the end of the decade. Simpler
household life allowed women to explore a world outside of the kitchen, leading to the beginning
of the increase of their role in society ( The Roaring Twenties).
More importantly however, the economic boom of the 20s is in large part a result of the
invention of the automobile. Because of their affordability, by the end of the decade there was
one car per every five Americans ( The Roaring Twenties ). The automobile changed the flow of
goods and people, taking them places they ve never been before. With the introduction of vehicles,
roads were being paved to connect point A to B, opening up a whole new world of possibilities.
Goods and people reached places in time once thought laughable, spurring expansion. The birth of
Jazz could even be credited to the automobile. African Americans migrated north for the first time
with many settling in Harlem, the creative hotbed from which Jazz emerged. In general more
Americans, for the first time in history, lived in cities than farms ( The Roaring Twenties ). In

The Decepticon
If you have not heard of Transformers, then you have been living under a rock. Transformers:
Revenge of The Fallen had brought in $200 million the first week it came out. You may be
wondering who is the director behind this extraordinary movie? The answer to that is Michael Bay,
and he has directed many outstanding movies. With Transformersit has now been 2 years since the
Autobots have save the Earth from the Decepticons, they are now working with the military to
protect the earth. While they are doing that Sam Witwicky (Shia LaBeouf) is now off to college
and he is trying to live a normal college student life. An older Decepticon name The Fallen is up
to no good and wants revenge. Sam and his girlfriend Mikaela (Megan Fox) learn the history of
the Transformers and with that knowledge they help the Autobots defeat the Decepticons again.
With seeing all of The Transformer movies Michael Bay uses a lot of ethos, and pathos with
making his movies exciting to see.

  • 2. The Importance Of Academic Writing The academic writing process has been around for ages, so the attributes that a scholarly piece, such as this one, must possess in order to be efficient are no secret. All academic pieces of writing must have a mix of the following qualities: objectivity, accuracy, and complexity. These attributes must remain intact and must not waiver throughout each step of the writingprocess. This very process that forces students to set creativity aside is proposed to assist in critical thinking skills, writing skills, and embracing of a higher complexity of vocabulary, among other things, is often given much more credit than is truly due. Both authors that wrote Academically Adrift: Limited Learning on College Campuses conducted a study that took... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Breaking down each stage of the process and setting shorter term milestones and deadlines is also recommended. Although many students will continue to procrastinate their papers, the students that actively participate in the introductory stage of planning are setting themselves up to adopt this efficient time management method in other facets of daily life. Most of the truly genuine planning occurs in this stage. Once students have a keen understanding of what they re being asked to do, they can continue to the planning stage of the writing process. In the planning stage, students do most of their research on their respective topics. It s important that the main objective of the paper remain in the forefront of students research, given that the first few searches that come up may not be relevant to their topics. In this stage, students learn what it means to remain vigilant and not wander from the task at hand. Students will encounter frustration regarding the relevancy of search results; however, this frustration leads to learning how to craft efficient search queries regarding their topic. Students should deconstruct their topic into various key points that must be addressed, then research and gather information distinct to said points. Depending on the individual, gathering citations can be interchangeable between steps. One may argue that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. The Mystery Of The Myth The myth is the belief that some languages just aren t good enough because they do not fulfill certain criteria. Criteria such as not being able to act as a medium of speech to express new ideas, to speak of science, to speak of high literature, and to be used internationally without having to borrow vocabulary from other languages. English is probably the most infamous case of this myth being false. As we know it English is probably one of the most widely spoken languages. English has the ability to clearly express ones ideas, converse scientific terms, and speak of high literature. However many of English s vocabulary are borrowed from Latin, French, and many other languages. Under the criteria of those that believe that some languages are not good enough, English is not good enough as a languagesince it borrows vocabulary from other languages. But this is not true since English is a very prominent language and is very able to express new ideas of all kinds. Another famous example that can be used to debunking this myth would be in the case of Latin. When Latin first arose the Greek s believed that Latin just wasn t good enough to be able to express complex thoughts. However as we know today this is terribly false. Latin was one of the most wide spread languages that we know of today. Latin was also at one time a lingua franca. It was used as a common language between speaks of different native languages to express ideas. Not only was Latin used in science, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Ethicality Of Animal Experimentation Animal Experimentation has a long history for the use of humankind and animals are being used in a large number to study and develop drugs for the diseases that human beings suffer from. Between 17 million and 22 million animals are estimated to be used annually in the United States in research, education, and testing and about 85 percent of these are rats and mice, and less than 2 percent are cats, dogs, and nonhuman primates (Office of Technology Assessment, 1986) (National, R. • 7. Bonding In Othello There are bonds in society that stem from a multitude of traits that one would share with another, such as race, age, religious beliefs, wealth, social standing, and most especially, gender. Male and female tend to be generalized as the main combination of the genders in relation to intimacy and marital stigma in correlation to the Bible s Adam and Eve; however, that combination is not true when the situation is societal bonds. As seen in works of literature from centuries back and even up until now, there is a difference between maleto male bonding, female to female bonding, and male to female bonding. In Shakespeare s Othello, he dissects the universal and timeless truth of the bonds between the two genders that the majority of the modern... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Since women have little to no power for themselves, there is not much use of clinging on to other females for a push up the social scale. Two women teaming together is not the same impact as two men teaming up together. The homosocial bond between women is broken and scarred and has prevailed that way through history. Men would dictate the ideal woman whom had to abide by the codes of silence and obedience. When women would transgress from these codes, they would be seen as disorderly, which is a term which lead to cataclysmic destruction of social order (Hall, 263). The least women would want to do is team up with other women whom are looked upon as outcasts. Women are known to be evil and deceitful, so it isn t seen as a good thing for women to come together to bond. As seen in Othello, the female to female bond is skewed and is weak when women are not completely honest to each other. Emilia withheld information from Desdemona, which eventually lead to both of their deaths. Women are not held accountable for their honesty to each other, though it is seen to be a vital trait in order to be a good wife to their husband. Desdemona and Emilia have this special homosocial bond that proves to be strong near the resolution of the play, but throughout the rest of the story, was damaged and not worthy of being compared to the male to male bond. • 9. The Impact Of The British Revolution In Colonial America Following the French and Indian War, Great Britain began to tighten control over the American colonies. Britain constricted the rights of the colonists by enacting numerous pieces of legislation. Some of these acts attempted to tax the colonists on products such as stamps, tea, and currency. After which, what legislature was passed by the British Parliament, resistance from the American colonists grew due to these policies of legislation. Changes in British policy in the 1770s, led to a revolution in colonial America evident in political, economic, and social issues. The Revolutionary War was caused by the British Parliament, one is because of the political issues. For example, on January 14, 1776, George Greenville explained that Britain had the supreme legislative power over America (Document 1). According to Greenville, Britain had this supreme legislative power because Parliament had provided the colonists with much of their needs (Document 1). Greenville continued that this was why British Parliament believed they had the power to impose taxes on the American colonies (Document 1). As a member of British Parliament, Greenville believed that America should obey Britain because of the protection the British provide to the colonies (Document 1). Some of the protection the British provided was military protection from the Indians (Document 1). • 10. Ferrari Engines, Bicycle Brake Written Analysis #3 The article I decided to read for the third analysis was Ferrari Engines, Bicycle Brakes. This article was written by Edward Hallowell who is a psychiatrist that has attention deficit hyperactivity disorder and dyslexia. Both of these disorders individually come with a lot of different struggles. Throughout the article, Hallowell discussed his struggle as a student and what/ who helped him get through school. One of the first things Hallowell mentions was his first grade teacher, Mrs. Eldredge. She seemed to be his support system when it came to reading aloud during class. From other research, I know that this can be very difficult for students with dyslexia since they read slower, letters can get switched around, and whole words can look switched around. Mrs. Eldredge stood by his side while he read, so that no one would laugh at his stuttering or stammering (Hallowell, 2012). I believe this was a nice move by her because she recognized his struggles, and did everything she could to make him feel comfortable reading aloud in class. He ends up crediting many of his gifted teachers for him becoming a good student and getting through college to get his degree as a psychiatrist (Hallowell, 2012). Once a company has invested time and money to recruit and train a good employee, it is in their own best interest to retain that employee, to further develop and motivate him so that he continues to provide value to the organization. But, employers must also recognize and tend to what is in the best interest of their employees, if they intend to keep them. The Journey Of Becoming A Prosecutor Essay Zach Howard Mrs. Creel English IV 7 October 2016 The Journey of Becoming a Prosecutor The prosecutor is the chief legal representative of the prosecution in countries with either the common law adversarial system or the civil law inquisitorial system. The prosecution is the legal party responsible for presenting the case in a criminal trial against an individual accused of breaking the law. A prosecutor prosecutes someone for an illegal crime. There are different rules in different states for a prosecutor. In some states, a prosecutor would have to show the court a written statement of the felonies. In other states, the prosecutor must gather a Grand Jury before charging the culprit with a crime. • 17. A Very Short Introduction By Jonathan Culler In Literary Criticism A Very Short Introduction, author Jonathan Culler writes on feminist theory: on the one hand, feminist theorists champion the identity of women, demand rights for women, and promote women s writings as representations of the experience of women. On the other hand, feminists undertake a theoretical critique of the heterosexual matrix that organizes identities and cultures in terms of the opposition between man and woman(Culler 140). These two approaches, championing and critiquing can be found in both the works of Jane Austen and E.M. Forster. Rather, Lucy s character is merely that, her own, a full embodiment of herself, and ultimately this is the major revelation she transcends to through her journey in Forster s novel. Whereas Elizabeth seeks to prove a point of equality, Lucy seeks to embody that point. This does not discount Elizabeth s progressiveness, but rather is central to how these two characters embody a continuum of feminism s development. Both Elizabeth and Lucy exhibit strong determination, but contexts shape them differently. In the world of victorian England, Elizabeth Bennett rejects the man she is destined to love because he outwardly does not met the decorum of society and slights her with his mannerism. In a similar way, Lucy holds to her own private prejudices in her rejection of George Emerson. But George Emerson is a far cry from Mr. Darcy; George being someone who has grown up equalizing women whereas Darcy has grown up believing they have a place. Therefore, for Lucy, expectations are different because the shift in gender equality is already well underway. Throughout the novel bread crumbs are dropped for Lucy about her own potential, whereas for the females of Austen s Longbourn, marriage is their only opportunity, their lone certain way to escape. Even Elizabeth Bennett cannot escape this reality. In A Room with A View the female character s autonomy is placed front in center. Furthermore, femininity itself is burgeoning out of even ... Equifax Data Breach An analysis of the Equifax and Yahoo data breach Introduction A recent increase in large scale data breaches has exposed a multitude of cybersecurity vulnerabilities that pose a definite risk to consumers (Lorio, 2017). In some cases, a data breach can distress an establishment so much that other organizations experience a backlash from the repercussions (Kosseff, 2011). The findings described in a report prepared by the Office of Senator Elizabeth Warren list several reasons for the Equifax data breach. The report states that Equifax had a defective cybersecurity system in place to mitigate data security (Franke Ruta, 2018). This included deficient patch management practices, inadequate end point email monitoring, a weak network segmentation structure, insubstantial credentialing procedures, and fragile logging methods (Franke Ruta, 2018). The warning came in an attack on the Apaches Struts application software used to protect consumer data in the Equifax cybersecurity systems on May 13, 2017 (Franke Ruta, 2018). However, Equifax did not notice signs of the malicious activity until July 29, 2017 (Franke Ruta, 2018). (Faiz ahmed faiz, 1943) The poem The nobodys by Edvardo Galeano tells us that the poor never get lucky. Their dreams never come true no matter how hard they pray or wish for it. The poet also tells us that along with all other things the life of the poor is also considered as worthless. Gladwell had several ideas he had based people s successes on, one of which were their skills. He focused on whether a person was capable of being successful in their career path. Not just their IQ, or their ability to perform a task well, but whether their social skills were also capable or not. Gladwell states that it is not possible to make it far alone, so he would check to see if an individual wasn t an awkward loner who excelled in only academically. It was that simple for them, and they could get right back to what they were doing, and meet their deadline. Nowadays, farmers can not do that. The Digital Millennium Copyright Act of 1998 creates it so farmers do not have the right to fix their own tractors, because of the programming that is in those said tractors. In fact, Hollywood did a very good job of doing so, because most of the movies and shows before the 1960s had very traditional American conservative values with the strong patriarchal father figure with a conventional family module. One example of these shows with strong American values that I can think of that my parents grew up watching was Leave it to Beaver. Hollywood producers and directors had these values under their grasp to portray how American families should be among viewers. There is a far less political monopoly on themes coming out of ... Beowulf was a poem that some scholars have suggested was made at the end of the 10th century (Harrison, Beowulf). The question of why Beowulf does things he does always comes into play. The story of Beowulf starts off when he is in Geatland and hears that the Danes are being attacked by a monster. Beowulf sails to Denmark to help them. It should be noted that the Geats and Danes are not friendly towards each other. Beowulf defeats both monsters that attack Heorot Hall and returns to Geatland to become king. Beowulf s father even said that his glory is too great to forget (1221). According to the Merriam Webster Dictionary, communication is the act or process of using words, sounds, songs, or behaviors to express your ideas, thoughts, and feelings to someone else. Such interaction between human being is significant due to the innate fact that we as humans are social beings. Communicationnot only aids human beings in expressing ideologies, but in everyday duties such as education, work, medical care, and other key aspects. A lack of communication is dangerous in many circumstances. In two essays, When Doctors Make Mistakes , by Atul Gawande, and Columbia s Last Flight, by William Langewiesche the reader can perceive how a lack of communication can be lethal. In the medical field, precision is of the utmost importance when it comes to successfully ensuring that the job is done. Even the slightest mistake can be lethal, making communication vital in the medical field. A group of doctors and nurses must communicate and act like a single unit to complete the procedure. In When Doctors Make Mistake , the author, Atul Gawande, recalls a case where his team worked on a specific crash victim and the breathing tube could not fit in the trachea. Eliot displays these stresses of Modern Urban life through the dramatic monologue of the protagonist Prufrock in his poem The Love Song of J.Alfred Prufrock which the speaker embarks on a journey to try to overcome the powerful sense of meaninglessness in the world that has lost its religious faith. The poem opens up with Prufrock constantly repeating the phrase Let us go which is an invitation for the reader to travel with Prufrock as tries to find meaning in life. This is due to the epigraph presented earlier whereby it alludes to Count Guido who is trapped in Hell and must endure the same limited experience for eternity. This intertextual reference acts as a mirror to Prufrock s psyche, asserting his dour thoughts on how his life is stalling and meaningless. Prufrock states how he has measured out my life in coffee spoons which captures the unfulfilling and boring nature of Prufrock s life. This metaphorical comparison crystallises how his life is carefully calculated and lived in small and measured amounts, affirming the banality of his life. Thus Prufrock embarks on an active search for meaning as evidenced by the line Let us go .... American romantics were influenced by eras that before them, and their writings were a different reaction against the philosophy of the previous eras. With this being said, American Romanticism grew from salvation, and guilt, as they excitedly developed their own unique style of writing. American romantic authors had a strong sense of general identity and pride in being American.
