Napoleon Equality
Beginning in the late 18th century controversy struck France; arguments over royal legitimacy,
starvation of the people, and lack of equality among the kingdom sparked what is known as the
French Revolution. The Estate System angered the people as it created significant inequality for the
working class and peasants. While many believed the third estate to be the foundation of the
country, absolutist ruler, Louis XVI, favored the first and second estates. As a result, the French
Revolutionprioritized the fight for national equality. Napoleon, the son of the revolution, built his
empire on liberty and equality forever: liberte, egalite, fraternite. He came from the third estate,
making him a relatable candidate and became a successful general. While he created a brilliant
empire, his lack of dedication to his core ideals and those of the French Revolution resulted in its
demise.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Napoleonic Code reasserted the fundamental principles of the Revolution. It stated the
equality of male citizens before the law, secured the wealth and private property of citizens,
established religious tolerance, and abolished feudalism. He also created the National Bank,
which gave loans to enhance the economy and competition. This resulted in substantial financial
growth and regulated the currency. In order to terminate the power of the nobles, Napoleon
created a modern bureaucracy that promoted meritocracy; leadership positions were given based
on the hard work and success of men. Additionally, he founded new schools and roads to increase
education and safety. Napoleon was the first servant of the state and people; unlike a divine ruler,
he respected the people and worked for them and not himself. His hard work to better his country

threatened the United States with communism and Nuclear espionage. The scare was
questioned if it was conspiracy or not, but it was justified because of the spies and Soviet Union
threatening the United states security. Through decryptions, trials and investigations these
threats were justified because of the Venona project, the project was a secret organization that
gathered and decrypted messages from soviet military agency in 1940s, and the HUAC. From
the late 1930s to late 1950s the HUAC took initial steps to find communists and spies in the

Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome: A Lucky Evolution? Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome
(SARS) was a viral disease that quickly spread China and the world in 2003 to 2004. The corona
virus targeted the respiratory system and killed 10% of people who caught it. By examining
articles that relate to this disease, I have come to the conclusion that SARS was just a One Hit
Wonder that was the result of a lucky evolution because of how and when it happened. The virus
only lasted for 2 years, evolved from bats, and is not likely to happen again in the same way. First
of all, SARS was a lucky evolution because it only lasted for about a year. The first case of SARS
was documented on November 16, 2002 and there have been no known cases since 2004.
According to the EDU, a total of 8,098 people worldwide became sick ... Of these, 774 died. The

divided into 8 strains, with the 3rd and 4th strains, called SARS 3 and 4, infecting humans. Of

one of the two human infecting strains to jump from the bats to one of the handlers, and the disease
was set to infect all whom it came in contact with. Even though bats are a common source of
infection, there are several reasons why the infections rarely become epidemic. The ancestors of the
SARS virus had evolved to infect bats, and when one strain infected humans, it wasn t prepared to

He uses icons whether it was very impactful or just there to be more interesting. He creates a

Documentary And Narrative Filmmaking
What makes documentary filmmaking distinct to narrative filmmaking? There are a few
contrasting objectives for both types of filmmaking that distinguishes them from each other.
Simply put, narrative filmmaking is a movie with a pre written script, actors and a story which is
already crafted before they start shooting. while documentaries are filmmaking where real life
events are captured, and a script is usually written afterwards. Narrative films rely on the three act
structure which goes Setup, Confrontation and Resolution or in other words, a beginning, middle
and end. The main aim for the three act structure is for the story to develop while the stakes get
risker for our characters, so they evolve as the movie goes on. Narrative film... Show more content

Moore had an agenda against President George W. Bush while making the film and edited the

film are, We worked hard on creating a work of cinema that would move people not just
politically but on an emotional and visceral level. I hope we have made a contribution to this art

the debate surrounding the film involved Moore s satirical styling. Some argued Moore tried too

therefore it is nearly impossible to create a comprehensive code of ethics when making a

The Theme Of Anthem, By Ayn Rand
Anthem, by Ayn Rand, is a book that deals with topics of power, love, and individualism, and
societal and personal differences . The theme of anthem, that individuality must be protected, is
widespread and prominent, referenced throughout the book, from the viewpoint of the main
character.
This will go over the character, the time, and the setting in the book, helping to show and
understand the theme because the author can convey plot points and themed information better
through the components of the book themselves, rather than outright stating it in the book.
The character helps understand the theme in the story, that individuality must be treasured in our
society, because it shows what the emotional and physical links to the society in the book, as well
as the mental states and feelings influencing the text.
The main character is named Equality 7 252 . He described himself as 6 , and he had always
been more interested in the scientific attributes of nature, rather than the job at hand. He held
little regard for the rules of the society, as shown by his disregard to law. The laws say that none
among men may be alone, ever and at any time, for this is the great transgression and the root of
all evil. But we have broken many laws, (Rand )
This character helped understand the theme in the story, that individuality must be treasured in our
society, since the character is , while struggling to maintain his own individuality. ...and we would
work for our brothers, gladly and willingly, ...What is my life, if I am but to bow, to agree and to
obey?... (Rand). This quote helps support the theme in the novel by showing Equality s
individuality in different parts of the book. At the beginning, he denied his individuality and tried to
blend in with the conformist society, while at the end, he accepts and treasures his individuality.
This relates to the theme by showing that his individuality is treasured and valued by him.
The character and the setting work together to help find the theme in multiple ways. The characters
lives and works in the setting, while the setting and society helps influence the main character. The
setting shows where the character lives in the world, and how the culture in

The And Sustainability Of The Pioneer River Catchment
1.0 Introduction
Catchments are depended on by the average household person, but even more valuable to the
farmers that are supplying the food to our nation. Therefore, action must be taken to ensure that the
catchments in our areas are healthy and will be able to be depended on for years to come. The
panel at Healthy Water Ways program has developed a study to guarantee the management and
sustainability of The Pioneer River catchment, by sending a team out to analyze the health of the
water ways and decide on a proposal that best suits the area to ensure future healthiness of the basin.

outline of details will be provided.
1.3 Methodology
This report is based upon the collected data from scientific tests and different data collection
experiments, these diverse range of observations helped in determining the health of the river
and catchment as a whole. The experiments tested a range of variables, some including; the
levels of nitrates, phosphates, temperature of water, pH levels, turbidity of water and dissolved
solids. The collection of water and recordings of microorganisms was examined and also
recorded. As well as these scientific tests, simple recordings were also taken of the surrounding
area and the amounts of rubbish and infrastructure that could be seen. The tests conducted in the
river system occurred on the 24th of May 2016, to conduct the tests the trail along the river was

Conflicts That Arise from Particular Ways of Seeing the...
TRIAL ESSAY Conflicts that arise from particular ways of seeing the world are made evident
through the shaping of texts. In Barry Levinson s film Wag the Dog and Michael Moore s
documentary Fahrenheit 9/11 , it is clear that the perspectives in which the audience views the
world create particular conflicts. In both texts, the conflicting perspectives arise from the way the
naГЇve public views the world and the way that the government and media view the world through
their particular agendas. In Wag the Dog , the plot relies on the alleged sexual impropriety of the

The audience is extremely aware of this through the use of the Albanian girl scene where through
filming and editing, the American people are manipulated into believing a lie. Levinson uses
dramatic irony here to emphasise this point to the viewers, who know what the public in the film
do not. Brean s assertion of we are giving them what they want is indicative of a public who
remember the slogans but don t remember the wars . As Brean satirises the perspective of the
outsider s the view in which the American people see the world is seen, especially through the use
of the Albanian girl where the audience literally sees what the audience in the film sees and
believes. As Brean uses repetition in referring to the Gulf War of 91, the audience witnesses the
verisimilitude that the public so easily succumbs to. Though, his character is portrayed in a
different light at the end of the film through the death of Stanley Motts. In this scene his character
shifts to that of a menacing, powerful figure. Even though the audience is aware of his significance
and power throughout the entire film, the fact that he is the one that orders for Motts to be killed
further extrapolates on the idea that the public is naГЇve to image, as even the audience watching

Taking a Look at Flu H5N1
################################################# Part 2
################################### There are multiple different sources for
epidemiological measures used for tracking and reporting the number of cases. There are
websites where you can go to post confirmed cases in areas, where that information is then taken
and calculated. There are also places that provide charts for the amount of confirmed outbreaks
and then separates them from human cases and avian cases. But the best types of reports
available are the map tracking ones. Where they give distinction marks for avian and human
cases and all over the different areas of the world. This is very handy for seeing how bad and
large an outbreak is and what species is affected, whether it is humans or birds. The incidence rate
is a measure of morbidity and number of infected worldwide, looking over the past 10 years. Over
the past ten years there have 650 infected.(Yu Chan, 2014). This is not a large number because of
the fact it is not spread through human to human contact but through already infected poultry. The
prevalence rate is the number of current/existing cases worldwide. The United Stateshas yet to have
a confirmed outbreak because we set such high regulations on the meat we sell in our markets, thus
preventing a large outbreak from hitting our country. The mortality rate is the number of deaths

The Lovesong Of T. S Eliot And Not Waving But Drowning By...
The turn of the 20th Century marks a substantial evolution for the pursuit of English Literature
responding to the larger socio political developments berthed by the rapid onset of
industrialization. The Modern Tradition of English literature, as literary critics refer to the period
today, transforms our understanding of english literary mechanics in that both poets and authors
examined the repercussions of industrial society on urbanites and rural peoples alike through
experimental prose and verse styles, forever changing the English Language. In particular, the
poetry of T.S Eliot in his breakout poem, The LoveSong of J. Alfred Prufrock written in 1915, and
Not Waving but Drowning written by poetess Steve Smith in 1953, reflect a particular sentiment
spanning an entire generation of both poetic and public society in which the burdens of modern
living within a capitalist society complicate man and women s ability to express their
individuality, much less understand their place among the vastness of the cosmos. By reading
Steve Smith s Not Waving but Drowning as it relates to themes such as misunderstanding
helplessness in the face of doom which T.S Eliot employs in, The LoveSong of J. Alfred Prufrock
, one finds that Smith s drowning man compounds our understanding of Prufrock s suffering; two
individuals who fail to discover themselves, nor any meaningful purpose and life; and offers an
response to despair through the voice of the drowned man s friends that

129). He later changed his views and stressed that social facts become competent guides and
controls of conduct only to the extent that they become internalized by individuals while
continuing to exist outside of them (Coser, pg. 129). Social facts contain several characteristics.
One characteristic is constraint. Constraint is the ability to condition an individual to conform
to society. For example, a person will receive a traffic ticket if they go over the speed limit. The
ticket is the act of constraint because it is used as a way to force the person to adhere to the law
that has been imposed. A second characteristic is generality. Generality is something that is
potentially universal and diffused with a group. Again, using the speeding ticket as the example,
the generality is that the speed limit applies to all persons that possess a valid driver s license. A
final characteristic included in social facts is externality, which constitutes a reality sui generis
outside of any individual. For example, when a child is born, it is born without any constraints.
Among others, cleanliness, obedience, and respect are imposed on the child from the time they are
born. These are social facts that are external to the child. This discussion leads us to the work of
Emile Durkheim, specifically, his work with the socially confusing subject of suicide. Durkheim
conducted an extensive study on suicide based on the

Futility of the American Dream Exposed in The Great...
The road to success is not easy to navigate, but with hard work, drive and passion, it s possible to
achieve the American dream.
Tommy Hilfiger
In F. Scott Fitzgerald s novel The Great Gatsby, the principle character, Jay Gatsby makes an
exhaustive effort in his quest for the American Dream. The novel is Fitzgerald s vessel of
commentary and criticism of the American Dream. Fitzgerald defines this Dream, he depicts its
beauty and irresistible lure (Bewley 113). Through Gatsby s downfall, Fitzgerald expresses the
futility and agony of the pursuit of the dream.
The aspects of the American Dream are evident throughout Fitzgerald s narrative. Take, for
example, James Gatz s heavenly, almost unbelievable rise ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Consequently, I am not ugly, for the effect of my ugliness, its power to repel, is annulled by
money... does not my money, therefore, transform all my incapacities into their opposites?
(Possnock 204).
Gatsby s incapacities, generally of an emotional nature, inhibitions preventing his successful capture
of his long lost love, Daisy, are washed away with the drunkenness provided by the dollar:
However glorious might be his future as Jay Gatsby, he was a present a penniless young man
without a past, and at any moment the invisible cloak of his uniform might slip from his
shoulders... He took what he could get, ravenously and unscrupulously eventually he took Daisy
one still October night (Fitzgerald 141).
Once armed with the lucre, however, he is prepared to contribute equally to the relationship, making
it truly an equal relation of love.
Love represents the other side of the coin of wealth: as opposed to material wealth, it refers
instead to emotional wealth. Whatever its plane of existence, love plays a pivotal role in the
American Dream, in Gatsby s Dream. Perhaps love is the most valuable of the aspects presented
thus far of the Dream; He hadn t once ceased looking at Daisy, and I think he revalued everything
in his house according to the measure of response it drew from her well loved eyes (Fitzgerald 88).

Ultimate Reality Vs Western Religion
Extended response:
How is Ultimate Reality viewed differently from and Eastern and Western Perspective?
Ultimate Reality in religion is viewed differently when comparing Eastern to Western beliefs, but
there are some similarities: both want to achieve something in the afterlife.
In Western religions such as Catholicism and Islam, the belief of Ultimate Reality is that there is a
God and he is transcendent and monotheistic.. In addition, there is also the belief of an evil
existence or commonly known as the devil . In the extract from the Catholic Bible, it states No one
has seen God and that in him was life, and the life was the light of the men, which indicates their
God is powerful enough and on another level compared to themselves

How Did The Macedonians Rule Over The Golden Age Of...
Historians regularly categorize important eras throughout history for the distinction it holds.
Heralding a period of prosperity and security in all spheres political, social, economic, and culture is
the Golden Age. Although the history of Byzantium is marked by constant challenges and various
levels of successes, the era of the Macedonian dynasty represents the critical centuries of Byzantine
prosperity and influence. Thus, this paper aims to demonstrate through an exploration of the
political, and socio cultural context of Byzantine society the extent to which the Macedonians ruled
over the Golden Age of Byzantium in the ninth to eleventh centuries. Before this discussion may
begin, it is important to note the various members of the Macedonian dynasty. While starting with
Basil I, a peasant from either Thrace or Macedonian who moved to Constantinople and quickly rose
up the ranks, the long line of Macedonians rulers over the next 194 years were punctuated with
rulers who associate themselves with this dynasty through marriage, a process called dynastic
grafting . Using the legitimacy of the Macedonians to advance their own individual ambitions,
various emperors nevertheless reflect their belief in the consolidated power and authority in the
name of the Macedonians, thus consequently also reflecting the stability of the political structure at
the time. This contrasts other eras of Byzantium history where individuals ruthlessly took power
without paying much mind to

Informal Counselling Styles
Secondly, telephone, email, and online counselling, are all types of informal counselling styles
(Lester and Rogers, 2013). There are many advantages for individuals who chose to seek
guidance and support through the use of informal counselling. Informal counselling can be
extremely helpful for people who do not have much money or people who have a demanding
lifestyle (King et al., 2006). According to Mariampolski, (2002) informal styles are easier to
access, they are more affordable, are flexible in regards to time, and they are genuinely more
convenient for most people as many individuals do not have time to attend sessions or group

The Historical Context of Ridda, Shura, and Shi a Essay
Shura is an Arabic word for consultation and it is this that forms part of the four cardinal
principles (human dignity justice and equality) in the Islamic organisation of social policys and
politics. It was a method that the pre Islamic tribes of the Middle East would use to make major
affecting decisions. The term Shura is mentioned several times in the holy Quran and is also used
as a name in parliaments of Muslim majority countries. Consultation applies to the choice of the
head of state as well as to all the decisions executed by the state. (Waines, 2009)

During the Caliphate of Ali there was much fighting and eventually the Muslim world fell into

them were brought to power by Shura; they all gained control via inheritance or force. Most of
today s Islamic countries have at least some aspects of their government or ruling management

Saudi Arabia appointed a Shura council in 1993 but all real power is held by the king. Saudi

Alice In Wonderland Through The Looking Glass Analysis
Lewis Carroll: Alice s Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass Charles
Lutwidge Dodgson not only set a precedent for the genre of children s literature not yet common
in the victorian era but he also impacted modern absurdist literature by his creative writing. Alice
s Adventures in Wonderland, Through the Looking Glass, and What Alice Found There, all
published under the pseudonym Lewis Carroll, gained a large following by men, women, and
children because of their whimsical tales of adventure. Carrolls fascination with little girls
combined with having influence in the church allowed him to become friends with the reverend
s daughter Alice whom gave him the idea to create the story Alice s Adventures Underground.
Charles was the eldest son of Reverend Charles Dodgson, a clergyman in the Church of England,
and Francis Jane Lutwidge. She gave birth to her third child, Carles on the twenty seventh of
January in 1832 in the Parsonage of Daresbury England. He came from a large family,
numbering eleven children, and was often charged with the task of amusing his younger sisters
which may help explain how he developed his love of games and his devotion to little girls.
(Stanley 18) At the age of eleven Charles revealed his early genius for nonsense by editing and
writing for a series of family magazines called The Rectory Umbrella and Mismasch . Charles
began school at the Richmond Grammar School, where he spent a year and a half; this was
followed by three years at Rugby. He maintained very high academic standards throughout
school and college. In 1851 he entered Christ Church College of Oxford University, and in 1854
he received his undergraduate degree. At the Church of England he earned himself a lifetime
residency provided he became a clergyman. Dodgson lived and worked at Oxford University
teaching math until 1898. The world has come to know Charles Dodgson as Lewis Carroll, a
pseudonym he chose in 1856 for his fictional and poetical works. He reserved his family name for
his academic books and essays. By 1857, he had begun publishing both mathematical treatises and
essays on logic. Even these dry academic writings were marked by his quirky sense of humor,
whimsy, and fun. He wrote

Agent Smith Quotes
I will be asserting, in this argument, through the quotes and actions of Neo and Agent Smith as well
as underlying themes and philosophies throughout the trilogy that, despite what was clearly and
repeatedly implied and stated throughout the trilogy Neo is not actually the savior figure in
accordance with the Oracle s prophecy. Or, rather, that Neomay represent the Messiah to the
humans in Zion and the Matrix, the 1 respectively. However, Agent Smith, the 0 in the integral

Smith gives a monologue directed at Morpheus emphasizing Smith s desire to get out of the

The Debate Over Home Schooling
The Debate Over Home Schooling
What is home schooling, and who is choosing to be home schooled? In this serious time of concern
about the standards of the public education system, it is found that in the United States, the number
of parents deciding to home school their kids is increasing. These parents believe that the education
system provided by their local schools is unsatisfactory compared to what they could do at home.
Home schooling has become more common in the past thirty years and has even started a trend
throughout the states. An estimation of a 235,000 335,000 increase of the number of home
schooled children within twenty years was reported by the U.S. Department of Education. Since
then, that number grown to an astonishing number of 1.7 million, and should continue to grow at a
rate of 15 percent a year. These numbers are considered low because it is not necessary in all states
to notify the Department of Education when parents decide to home school their children. Activists
such as David Gutterson explain home schooling as the attempt to receive an education at a place
other than an institution. Children who are home schooled spend most of a normal school day
learning in the environment of their homes. Unlike traditional schools, home schooled children s
parents are their teachers, which allows for variances in curriculum programs. Some parents choose
to follow a more traditional curriculum while others allow their students (children) to learn about

Uncle Tom Stereotypes
In a time where the media has possess a strong impression on the minds of those consuming it now
has become the jobs of directors, producers, and film companies to be mindful of the stereotypes
they are putting forth with their content. How can we erase the negative connotations that we
associate with races when these images are being maintained in the media? The Tom or Uncle Tom
stereotypeof the well mannered elderly negro is one that should have vanished by now, but as of
late it has been revived by award winning filmmaker Quentin Tarrantino in his blockbuster film
Django Unchained. The stereotype had previously reared its head in Disney s live action film Song
of the South. The aforementioned Disney film was made in 1946, while the Tarrantino film was
released in 2012. Were those 66 years not enough to lay to rest a foolish racial stereotype?
According to Donald Bogle, the characterization of A Tom is someone who is: chased harassed,
hounded, flogged, enslaved, and insulted, they keep the faith, n er turn against their white massas,
and remain hearty (Bogle 5). Early incarnations of The Tom were often white men in blackface on
minstrel stages, who dressed up in tattered clothing and put on a receding and grayed hairline.
These actors were on stage shucking and jiving singing songs in broken English. In her book titled

Abstract
This paper will review the study conducted in 1971 called the Stanford Prison Experiment. I will

and the story of what happened as a result. My review will include the influence of the political,

the choices we make. I will also discuss the goals and purpose of the study, if the study proved

My Style Of Fashion
Style Fashion Dress communicates to everyone differently but to me it was always ambiguous
and it will continue to be ambiguous because no two people will perceive an object the same
exact way. My Style Fashion Dress has changed over the years by my ability to get a hold of
certain pieces without my parents permission. Being a transnational fashion subject relates to each
of us because whether we realize it or not at least five pieces of clothingin your closet is made in a

each of our Style Fashion Dress is transnational. Intersectionality: Subject positions are embedded

Designing A New Identity For This Business
I was introduced to Rayo Santos a new car lot in Lewisville, TX. I was given the opportunity of
creating a new identity for this business. The owner of Rayo Santos, Juan Carlos Olvera, gave
me instructions on what were some of the boundaries of the design, like using the colors of the
Mexican flag and using the name itself as the logo. Rayo Santos meaning Holy Thunder in
Spanish. Through the process of researching for inspiration and sketching, I finally found the
perfect solution by using a Halo and a Thunderbolt for the logo. I believe that going for a simple
and modern design was the correct way to achieve this design. After being introduced to Elda
Chavez, owner of Sky Event Center, I knew I wanted to take the challenge and the adventure of
redesigning their brand look. Sky Event Center is a place where the enjoyment of different
celebrations takes place. The previous logo had a good color scheme but in my personal
opinion, it seemed like it was made for a car wash and it did not appear to be made for a
ballroom, and surely did not reflect the beauty and elegance of the interior. I developed a new
logo that took out the beauty and gave it the sophisticated look it needed by using a self made
typeface that fits the business more accordingly. The mark itself is an abstract representation of a
flower and a disco ball with a combination of a cool color scheme, to remind the people of the

Northern Ireland Essay
Northern Ireland has been, for as long as it has been a country, a deeply divided society. A society
rife with ethno political conflict between the Nationalist Catholics (who want a united Ireland) and
the Loyalist Protestants (who are loyal to the crown and thus wish to remain a part of the United
Kingdom). This division cumulated in what is now known as the Troubles. This conflict has
spanned over three decades, from (debatably) 1969 until the signing of the Good Friday
Agreement in 1998, and resulted in the deaths of over 3500 people and over 35,000 injuries
(Cairns Darby, 1998; Muldoon, 2004; Muldoon, Schmid, Downes, Kremer Trew, 2005). What
makes this division especially interesting is that there are no visible differences between the
Catholics and the Protestants. These two groups are, for all intents and purposes, extremely similar
with both being white, Christian, and European (Muldoon, 2004). However that is where the
similarity ends as they are, and should be viewed as, distinct ethnic and cultural groups (Muldoon,
2004). Although religiosity undoubtedly plays an integral role in the conflict it spans much deeper
than religion. This entire conflict is an accumulation of historical, national, religious and economic
factors all of which have helped maintain this conflict over the years (Muldoon, 2004).
To really get to the heart of the conflict we must go back centuries. The contempt that the ethnically
Irish (primarily Catholics) have towards Britain

A Fluorescent Mirna Sensor For The Study Of Exrna And Drug...
A Fluorescent miRNA Sensor for the Study of exRNA and Drug Delivery
Abstract: Increasing evidence suggests cell to cell communication is possible through
extracellular RNAs (exRNAs). RNA (including mRNA, miRNA, or lincRNA) has, on many
accounts, been found packaged inside extracellular vesicles (EVs) which may traverse through a
variety of bodily fluids to be taken up by a recipient cell. The biological significance of exRNAs is
largely unknown. However, preliminary studies suggest they may play a role in a variety of
important biological processes, including stem cell maintenance, apoptosis, and cancer metastasis.
Furthermore, there is much hope in eventually utilizing EVs as a drug delivery vector to supply
damaged tissues with therapeutic RNAs. Such a system could overcome the immunological
challenges associated with viral vectors. Advances in understanding the biology of exRNA
transfer have been hindered by a lack of dynamic methods for detecting changes in RNA
concentration in vivo. Northern blotting, microarray, and PCR based approaches are invasive,
and sometimes lack sensitivity when dealing with small quantities of RNA. While evidence of
their significance is growing, to date no exRNA has been shown to enter and function in a cell in
vivo. To address these issues, I have been working on the development of a sensor system for
detecting exogenous small RNAs. This molecular sensor will exploit the ability of microRNAs
(miRNAs) to bind to, and repress, target

  • 2. Napoleon Equality Beginning in the late 18th century controversy struck France; arguments over royal legitimacy, starvation of the people, and lack of equality among the kingdom sparked what is known as the French Revolution. The Estate System angered the people as it created significant inequality for the working class and peasants. While many believed the third estate to be the foundation of the country, absolutist ruler, Louis XVI, favored the first and second estates. As a result, the French Revolutionprioritized the fight for national equality. Napoleon, the son of the revolution, built his empire on liberty and equality forever: liberte, egalite, fraternite. In order to terminate the power of the nobles, Napoleon created a modern bureaucracy that promoted meritocracy; leadership positions were given based on the hard work and success of men. Additionally, he founded new schools and roads to increase education and safety. • 6. 1950s Red Scare Essay Cole Amadio US II Mr. Metz 12/2/15 1950s Red Scare In the 1950s there was a red scare that threatened the United States with communism and Nuclear espionage. The scare was questioned if it was conspiracy or not, but it was justified because of the spies and Soviet Union threatening the United states security. Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) was a viral disease that quickly spread China and the world in 2003 to 2004. The corona virus targeted the respiratory system and killed 10% of people who caught it. By examining articles that relate to this disease, I have come to the conclusion that SARS was just a One Hit Wonder that was the result of a lucky evolution because of how and when it happened. There are a few contrasting objectives for both types of filmmaking that distinguishes them from each other. Simply put, narrative filmmaking is a movie with a pre written script, actors and a story which is already crafted before they start shooting. while documentaries are filmmaking where real life events are captured, and a script is usually written afterwards. Narrative films rely on the three act structure which goes Setup, Confrontation and Resolution or in other words, a beginning, middle and end. The turn of the 20th Century marks a substantial evolution for the pursuit of English Literature responding to the larger socio political developments berthed by the rapid onset of industrialization. The Modern Tradition of English literature, as literary critics refer to the period today, transforms our understanding of english literary mechanics in that both poets and authors examined the repercussions of industrial society on urbanites and rural peoples alike through experimental prose and verse styles, forever changing the English Language. In particular, the poetry of T.S Eliot in his breakout poem, The LoveSong of J. Alfred Prufrock written in 1915, and Not Waving but Drowning written by poetess Steve Smith in 1953, reflect a particular sentiment spanning an entire generation of both poetic and public society in which the burdens of modern living within a capitalist society complicate man and women s ability to express their individuality, much less understand their place among the vastness of the cosmos. By reading Steve Smith s Not Waving but Drowning as it relates to themes such as misunderstanding helplessness in the face of doom which T.S Eliot employs in, The LoveSong of J. Alfred Prufrock , one finds that Smith s drowning man compounds our understanding of Prufrock s suffering; two individuals who fail to discover themselves, nor any meaningful purpose and life; and offers an response to despair through the voice of the drowned man s friends that ... He later changed his views and stressed that social facts become competent guides and controls of conduct only to the extent that they become internalized by individuals while continuing to exist outside of them (Coser, pg. 129). Social facts contain several characteristics. One characteristic is constraint. Constraint is the ability to condition an individual to conform to society. For example, a person will receive a traffic ticket if they go over the speed limit. The ticket is the act of constraint because it is used as a way to force the person to adhere to the law that has been imposed. A second characteristic is generality. Generality is something that is potentially universal and diffused with a group. Again, using the speeding ticket as the example, the generality is that the speed limit applies to all persons that possess a valid driver s license. A final characteristic included in social facts is externality, which constitutes a reality sui generis outside of any individual. For example, when a child is born, it is born without any constraints. Among others, cleanliness, obedience, and respect are imposed on the child from the time they are born. These are social facts that are external to the child. This discussion leads us to the work of Emile Durkheim, specifically, his work with the socially confusing subject of suicide. Heralding a period of prosperity and security in all spheres political, social, economic, and culture is the Golden Age. Although the history of Byzantium is marked by constant challenges and various levels of successes, the era of the Macedonian dynasty represents the critical centuries of Byzantine prosperity and influence. Thus, this paper aims to demonstrate through an exploration of the political, and socio cultural context of Byzantine society the extent to which the Macedonians ruled over the Golden Age of Byzantium in the ninth to eleventh centuries. Before this discussion may begin, it is important to note the various members of the Macedonian dynasty. While starting with Basil I, a peasant from either Thrace or Macedonian who moved to Constantinople and quickly rose up the ranks, the long line of Macedonians rulers over the next 194 years were punctuated with rulers who associate themselves with this dynasty through marriage, a process called dynastic grafting . Using the legitimacy of the Macedonians to advance their own individual ambitions, various emperors nevertheless reflect their belief in the consolidated power and authority in the name of the Macedonians, thus consequently also reflecting the stability of the political structure at the time. There are many advantages for individuals who chose to seek guidance and support through the use of informal counselling. Informal counselling can be extremely helpful for people who do not have much money or people who have a demanding lifestyle (King et al., 2006). According to Mariampolski, (2002) informal styles are easier to access, they are more affordable, are flexible in regards to time, and they are genuinely more convenient for most people as many individuals do not have time to attend sessions or group meetings. The Historical Context of Ridda, Shura, and Shi a Essay Shura is an Arabic word for consultation and it is this that forms part of the four cardinal principles (human dignity justice and equality) in the Islamic organisation of social policys and politics. It was a method that the pre Islamic tribes of the Middle East would use to make major affecting decisions. The term Shura is mentioned several times in the holy Quran and is also used as a name in parliaments of Muslim majority countries. Consultation applies to the choice of the head of state as well as to all the decisions executed by the state. • 28. Alice In Wonderland Through The Looking Glass Analysis Lewis Carroll: Alice s Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass Charles Lutwidge Dodgson not only set a precedent for the genre of children s literature not yet common in the victorian era but he also impacted modern absurdist literature by his creative writing. Alice s Adventures in Wonderland, Through the Looking Glass, and What Alice Found There, all published under the pseudonym Lewis Carroll, gained a large following by men, women, and children because of their whimsical tales of adventure. Carrolls fascination with little girls combined with having influence in the church allowed him to become friends with the reverend s daughter Alice whom gave him the idea to create the story Alice s Adventures Underground. Charles was the eldest son of Reverend Charles Dodgson, a clergyman in the Church of England, and Francis Jane Lutwidge. She gave birth to her third child, Carles on the twenty seventh of January in 1832 in the Parsonage of Daresbury England. He came from a large family, numbering eleven children, and was often charged with the task of amusing his younger sisters which may help explain how he developed his love of games and his devotion to little girls. (Stanley 18) At the age of eleven Charles revealed his early genius for nonsense by editing and writing for a series of family magazines called The Rectory Umbrella and Mismasch . Charles began school at the Richmond Grammar School, where he spent a year and a half; this was followed by three years at Rugby. He maintained very high academic standards throughout school and college. In 1851 he entered Christ Church College of Oxford University, and in 1854 he received his undergraduate degree. At the Church of England he earned himself a lifetime residency provided he became a clergyman. Dodgson lived and worked at Oxford University teaching math until 1898. The world has come to know Charles Dodgson as Lewis Carroll, a pseudonym he chose in 1856 for his fictional and poetical works. He reserved his family name for his academic books and essays. By 1857, he had begun publishing both mathematical treatises and essays on logic. Even these dry academic writings were marked by his quirky sense of humor, whimsy, and fun. He wrote ... Agent Smith Quotes I will be asserting, in this argument, through the quotes and actions of Neo and Agent Smith as well as underlying themes and philosophies throughout the trilogy that, despite what was clearly and repeatedly implied and stated throughout the trilogy Neo is not actually the savior figure in accordance with the Oracle s prophecy. Or, rather, that Neomay represent the Messiah to the humans in Zion and the Matrix, the 1 respectively. However, Agent Smith, the 0 in the integral anomaly, more fully represent a manifestation of the Oracle s prophecy than even Neo. • 31. The Debate Over Home Schooling The Debate Over Home Schooling What is home schooling, and who is choosing to be home schooled? In this serious time of concern about the standards of the public education system, it is found that in the United States, the number of parents deciding to home school their kids is increasing. These parents believe that the education system provided by their local schools is unsatisfactory compared to what they could do at home. Home schooling has become more common in the past thirty years and has even started a trend throughout the states. An estimation of a 235,000 335,000 increase of the number of home schooled children within twenty years was reported by the U.S. Department of Education. Since then, that number grown to an astonishing number of 1.7 million, and should continue to grow at a rate of 15 percent a year. These numbers are considered low because it is not necessary in all states to notify the Department of Education when parents decide to home school their children. Activists such as David Gutterson explain home schooling as the attempt to receive an education at a place other than an institution. Children who are home schooled spend most of a normal school day learning in the environment of their homes. Unlike traditional schools, home schooled children s parents are their teachers, which allows for variances in curriculum programs. • 32. Uncle Tom Stereotypes In a time where the media has possess a strong impression on the minds of those consuming it now has become the jobs of directors, producers, and film companies to be mindful of the stereotypes they are putting forth with their content. How can we erase the negative connotations that we associate with races when these images are being maintained in the media? The Tom or Uncle Tom stereotypeof the well mannered elderly negro is one that should have vanished by now, but as of late it has been revived by award winning filmmaker Quentin Tarrantino in his blockbuster film Django Unchained. The stereotype had previously reared its head in Disney s live action film Song of the South. The aforementioned Disney film was made in 1946, while the Tarrantino film was released in 2012. Were those 66 years not enough to lay to rest a foolish racial stereotype? According to Donald Bogle, the characterization of A Tom is someone who is: chased harassed, hounded, flogged, enslaved, and insulted, they keep the faith, n er turn against their white massas, and remain hearty (Bogle 5). Early incarnations of The Tom were often white men in blackface on minstrel stages, who dressed up in tattered clothing and put on a receding and grayed hairline. These actors were on stage shucking and jiving singing songs in broken English. The owner of Rayo Santos, Juan Carlos Olvera, gave me instructions on what were some of the boundaries of the design, like using the colors of the Mexican flag and using the name itself as the logo. Rayo Santos meaning Holy Thunder in Spanish. Through the process of researching for inspiration and sketching, I finally found the perfect solution by using a Halo and a Thunderbolt for the logo. I believe that going for a simple and modern design was the correct way to achieve this design. After being introduced to Elda Chavez, owner of Sky Event Center, I knew I wanted to take the challenge and the adventure of redesigning their brand look. Sky Event Center is a place where the enjoyment of different celebrations takes place. The previous logo had a good color scheme but in my personal opinion, it seemed like it was made for a car wash and it did not appear to be made for a ballroom, and surely did not reflect the beauty and elegance of the interior. I developed a new logo that took out the beauty and gave it the sophisticated look it needed by using a self made typeface that fits the business more accordingly. • 40. Northern Ireland Essay Northern Ireland has been, for as long as it has been a country, a deeply divided society. A society rife with ethno political conflict between the Nationalist Catholics (who want a united Ireland) and the Loyalist Protestants (who are loyal to the crown and thus wish to remain a part of the United Kingdom). This division cumulated in what is now known as the Troubles. This conflict has spanned over three decades, from (debatably) 1969 until the signing of the Good Friday Agreement in 1998, and resulted in the deaths of over 3500 people and over 35,000 injuries (Cairns Darby, 1998; Muldoon, 2004; Muldoon, Schmid, Downes, Kremer Trew, 2005). What makes this division especially interesting is that there are no visible differences between the Catholics and the Protestants. These two groups are, for all intents and purposes, extremely similar with both being white, Christian, and European (Muldoon, 2004). However that is where the similarity ends as they are, and should be viewed as, distinct ethnic and cultural groups (Muldoon, 2004). Although religiosity undoubtedly plays an integral role in the conflict it spans much deeper than religion. This entire conflict is an accumulation of historical, national, religious and economic factors all of which have helped maintain this conflict over the years (Muldoon, 2004). • 41. A Fluorescent Mirna Sensor For The Study Of Exrna And Drug... A Fluorescent miRNA Sensor for the Study of exRNA and Drug Delivery Abstract: Increasing evidence suggests cell to cell communication is possible through extracellular RNAs (exRNAs). RNA (including mRNA, miRNA, or lincRNA) has, on many accounts, been found packaged inside extracellular vesicles (EVs) which may traverse through a variety of bodily fluids to be taken up by a recipient cell. The biological significance of exRNAs is largely unknown. However, preliminary studies suggest they may play a role in a variety of important biological processes, including stem cell maintenance, apoptosis, and cancer metastasis. Furthermore, there is much hope in eventually utilizing EVs as a drug delivery vector to supply damaged tissues with therapeutic RNAs. Such a system could overcome the immunological challenges associated with viral vectors. Advances in understanding the biology of exRNA transfer have been hindered by a lack of dynamic methods for detecting changes in RNA concentration in vivo. Northern blotting, microarray, and PCR based approaches are invasive, and sometimes lack sensitivity when dealing with small quantities of RNA. While evidence of their significance is growing, to date no exRNA has been shown to enter and function in a cell in vivo. To address these issues, I have been working on the development of a sensor system for detecting exogenous small RNAs. This molecular sensor will exploit the ability of microRNAs (miRNAs) to bind to, and repress, target ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
