Allegory In Lord Of The Flies Essay
The book Lord of the Flies by William Golding uses allegory to convey its theme. How does he use
allegory to convey the themes within the book? In the book, he uses objects and some of the stranded
boys to illustrate the many themes that he had creatively woven into the book. Along with telling a
story about boys that were stranded on an island, he creatively sent out an important message through
allegory. In the book Lord of the Flies, Golding uses allegory to convey his themes, and one of the
allegory used was a signal fire. The signal fire represents a measurement of strength of civilized
instinct the island had left. The signal fire was one of the boy s last chances to survive. The fire itself
had represented the hope of rescue while also representing destruction on the island as well. When the

the boys to an assembly and would allow those in possession of it to speak, free of any interruptions.
Progressively, the boys had slowly lost their sense of civilization and the conch ultimately lost its
powerful influence among the boys. As Jack and his group decided the keep hunting, the shell became
a worthless object to their group due to their life of savagery. The conch shell met its untimely death
when Piggy, who was holding the conch shell, was run over by a boulder, shattering the conch shell in
the process. Once the conch shell was crushed, all power that the conch shell had once bestowed was
lost, and the only symbol of peace and order on the island was gone. The theme civilization vs
savagery was shown since the loss of civilization to a life of savagery was shown once all order was

Multicultural Issues In Multicultural Education
Multicultural Issues Raquel mentions she failed the seventh grade; as a result she was placed in
special classes. She also stated she does not see the point of going to school. Brammer (2004)
mentions language barriers is a hindrance among Latin American while in school. Many Latin
Americans are bilingual; however, the will speak little English outside of the school setting. This
causes complications due to their primary language is Spanish which is spoken by family and friends
(Brammer, 2004). Additionally, Latin American endures a vast amount of peer pressure to do poorly in
school or to drop out. One method to reduce the dropout rate of Latin Americans is teachers can make
reasonable accommodation to their lesson plan to the address the students needs. Also involving the
child s parents in their educations with the use of interpreters can assist the child to thrive
educationally (Amy Buttler, personal communication, November 7, 2017). It is mentioned that Raquel
s family has strong ethnicity rooted in the Costa Rican lineage. Latin Americans tend to have strong
family ties that rely on the support and strength of each other. Familismo is a part of their cultural
placing high value on the family that extends past the nuclear family (e.g. grandparents and extended
family members) (Brammer, 2004). It is beneficial to be close with one s family; however, Brammer
(2004) mentions the family bonds can lead to sexual exploitation of children by family members. He

Literature Review The significance of early negotiations in careers is that it controls the outcome of a
person s well being at the company, the overall career path as well as the way other employers view
the person from day one. In a study by Curhan, Elfenbein, Kilduff (2009), focuses on the effects of job
offer negotiations on employees succeeding levels of satisfaction and intentions to remain at the
company. Furthermore, the researchers compare the corresponding predictive strengths of two
different types of negotiation particularly, employees subjective evaluations of their job offer
negotiations versus their financial outcomes achieved. The researchers sampled MBA graduates who
negotiated their full time job offers and examined their subjective negotiation experience and tangible
concessions as predictors of their job satisfaction, compensation satisfaction, and intention to remain
within their organizations 1 year later (p 525). The findings from this research study conclude that the
subjective value incoming employees achieved during their first job negotiation significantly
correlates with compensation satisfaction. Furthermore, early negotiation in careers is significant in
determining the future level of success at the company. In addition, people value opinions on the

Yankee Ingenuity Character Analysis
How is one with Yankee Ingenuity escapes from being a prisoner of war living and surviving on the
enemy s land? In Herman Melville s Israel Potter, the protagonist represents Yankee Ingenuity because
he always manages to escape from adversity. Melville exemplifies this throughout the novel on how
the main character, Israel, faces and deals with adversity.
Israel Potter joins the American forces and goes to war with the British, where he is captured and then
escapes, which he lives as a prisoner of war in the enemy land. In the start of the book, Israel was
battling at Bunker Hill and was badly wounded. Fortunately, he was able to escape and recover from
the wounds. After recovering, he rejoined and boarded an American ship. Later at sea, the ship was
captured by the enemy s British ship and Israel was captured and taken into prison and was brought to
England. He thought of many tactics until he came up with a tactic that will work to escape from the
British ship. With careful planning, he patiently waited until he heard the drunken soldiers fall into a

his adventure in England and he pretends to be British under a different name. He uses his knowledge

Comparing King Louis XIV And King Philip II
There are many similarities and differences between King Louis XIV and King Philip II. One
difference between King Louis XIV and King Philip II is that King Louis XIV believed in showing off
his power and being open to the people around him. King Philip II was a devout catholic which means
he took Catholicism very seriously. Phillip II was also a very simplistic guy which means he was very
relaxed on things involving him and the people around him. King Louis XIV and King Philip II both
had magnificent palaces that reflected their ideals. Louis liked to show off his power and he did this
by creating the Palace of Versailles. The architecture of the palace displayed Louis ideals of secular
issues. Louis cared about spending a lot of money just

The Coaster Of The Roller Coaster
Our roller coaster is about three and a half feet tall and two feet wide. It has one loop, two funnels,
three turns, one five part zig zag, and one pulley leading from the end to the top, and four bells that
rang and vibrated when the marble hit them. Our group divided the work by, assigning people jobs,
then switching after a while. An example of that some people would score and other group members
would fold, or some would build and others would test, and we took turns switching jobs. Something
surprising we learned during construction is that it is very hard to make turns out of paper. Something
else that went well for our group was making a bucket load of materials before we started really
making the roller coaster. Another thing that went well for us was using a very strong foundation and
structure before starting on the track. Also, we had to reinforce the structure when the roller coaster
started wobbling a bit. The pulley was a bit of a challenge because it was hard to make and we ran out
of string many times. We had to use much thicker string which held the pulley together, but created
too much friction. Lastly, after we spray painted it, parts of the roller coaster started falling apart, like
the pulley. Fixed the kinks in the roller coaster, and our finished product was Marbolous! In our
construction our group would change how we constructed the pulley, the crooked columns, and the
lack of sloping nearing the end. The main problem we had with the pulley, was the

The City Of Haltom s Annual Budget
have evaluated the City of Haltom s Annual Budget for Fiscal 2016 budget using the Government
Finance Officers Association (GFOA) recommended budget practices. The Annual Budget was
reviewed under four major categories which are as follows: policy document, financial plan,
operations guide, and communication device. Using the GFOA awards scale my rating of the budget
for each individual category and the budget as a whole is a 4 (outstanding). The City of Haltom has
received the GFOA Certificate of Achievement for fiscal years 1987 2014. The budgets prepared for
submission have been recognized with the GFOA Distinguished Budget award annually since 1989
with exception of one year. The City continues to participate successfully in these two programs and
follow mandatory and non mandatory guidelines of the GFOA. The City of Haltom Budget is very
transparent and provides a great deal of information to its citizens whom the city views at the top of
the organizational chart for the city. The City s budget for FY2016 appears to continue to conform to
the GFOA program requirements and upon submission of their budget I have no doubt their budget for
FY 2016 will receive a GFOA Distinguished Budget award.

Becoming A Graduate Education For Engineering
As rightly said by Nikola Tesla, We crave for new sensations but soon become indifferent to them. The
wonders of yesterday are today common occurrences . The sweeping changes in the Technological
world with the advent of Electronics have made the role of electrical and electronics engineering a
really indispensable one. My fascination for engineering was from an early stage though not a
conscious one. It has been my deepest desire to be a part of this proliferating community. While my
Bachelor s degree has given me a well rounded strong fundamental platform and exposure in the
Electrical and Electronics field, I am keen to pursue Graduate education to advance my knowledge as
well as contribute to specific areas in Electronics and advancements in technology. I thereby seek to
pursue graduate studies in Electrical Engineering at University of Texas at Dallas.
I use this opportunity to elucidate my career objectives and give in quintessence of my educational
background. Since my school days, I have been interested in mathematics and physical sciences. My
scholastic record has been meritorious right through school and higher secondary education. I did my
schooling from Sarathi School, where I achieved a rare feat of scoring full marks in Mathematics and
secured 88.8%. With my propensity towards mathematics and physics, I chose Mathematics Physics
Chemistry as my group for post secondary education, wherefrom I secured an impressive 94.7%. This

Coal Mining As Environmental Health Issue
There is a common bond throughout Kentucky that stretches from western to eastern state lines that
unites many Kentuckians. This common thread is coal mining. Window decals proudly proclaiming
Coal miner s daughter , friend of coal license plates, and yard signs declaring Coal keeps the lights on
are only a fraction of the coal mining propaganda frequently seen throughout my community. There is
an allure to being a coal miner not only because it is a high paying job that does not require a college
degree, but also because being a coal miner evokes a sense of pride within people. However due to the
occupational hazards and coal s impact on the environment, coal mining also poses as a very real
environmental health issue for not only my community in western Kentucky but the entire state as
well. This research paper aims to describe coal mining as environmental health issue, explain the
potential health risks of working in and living near coal mines, identifying regulations and laws
concerning the issue, describe the industry s response to this issue, describe my community s response
to this issue, and identify needs and nursing interventions required for affected aggregates.
COAL MINING AS AN ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH ISSUE:
Coal mining is a relevant and current environmental health issue for not only my community or state,
but the entire United States as well. Emissions from burning coal, water pollution related to mining

The Civil War Was A Tragedy Essay
The Civil War was a long hard fought battle between the Union and the Confederate states from the
year 1861 1865. The war was a tragedy, but the battles of the American Civil War caused many
changes in America and in a good way, such as the abolishment of slavery and uniting the two sides
together. Slavery was the main cause, but the north and south did not agree with each other on ideas,
so it sparked the beginning of a war. A devastating blow to the Union, from Brig. Gen. Pierre G.T.
Beauregard of the Confederate, caused Major Robert Anderson to begin a war. Conflicts between the
two sides changed America for good. It is still one of the most bloodiest and affecting wars to date. It
all started when a missile stroke a shore. At 4:32 a.m., on April 12, 1861, a fort in Charleston, South
Carolina, Fort Sumter, was bombed. Threats were made to Federal troops occupying forts in the
South. Major Robert Anderson was with the Union and asked the War Department for more
reinforcements. He was in command of Fort Moultrie on Sullivan Island, not to far from Charleston.
Anderson s play was to move him and his men to a more secure fort, which were either Castle
Pinckney or the unfinished Fort Sumter. However, Francis Pickens, governor of South Carolina, did
not like that idea and wanted Anderson to stay at Fort Moultrie. Anderson was already on his way to
Fort Sumter. Pickens demanded Anderson to surrender but of course he did not want to. On March 1,
Brigadier General P. G. T.

Essay On Third Amendment
In our modern day and age, the amendments have seen some changes. Different court cases have lead
to different interpretations. Although the third amendment is one of the first ten original amendments
as it is part of the Bill of Rights, it has remained relatively constant with only minor changes in the
past few centuries. This does not mean that the third amendment is not as vital as the others. In fact, it
is necessary for everyday life in America and clearly shows its prevalence. Living without the third
amendment would be like living without a door lock. Who would be crazy enough to do that?

This case challenged the rights of marital privacy within the home. In 1961, Griswold and her partner,
Dr. Buxton, opened a birth control clinic in New Haven, Connecticut. A law enacted in 1879 made it
illegal to use anything to prevent contraception in the state. That s right, nothing could be used to
prevent pregnancy. Consequently due to their actions, Griswold and Buxton were arrested, tried, found
guilty, and fined to pay $100. Griswold appealed her conviction to the United States Supreme Court,
arguing that the state was in breach of multiple amendments including the fourteenth, first, and of
course, the third amendment. The argument based on the third amendment was that the home is and
should be a private place. No one is to know what happens in the home, or in the bedroom for that
matter. The only way to prove that the women who visited the clinic were actually using birth control
would be storm their homes. In the end, it was found that Connecticut s actions were unconstitutional
and this court case paved the way for future cases such as the famous Roe vs Wade

Stereotypes Of Teenagers
The ages thirteen through nineteen have been influenced by many things through the media. TV
programs, movies, advertising, magazines, and the web. These medias are more used by teenagers
than any other group. Teenagers are very difficult to figure out what they watch, or read, or listen. It s
different, but all together it s mostly the same. The TV programs have a lot of stereotypes towards
teenagers. Girls think they can t do things that guys do. There are programs out there that show those
types of stereotypes and these stereotypes get into their head which makes them realize there s no way

Persuasive Essay On How To End Your Relationship
Why is it so hard to breakup with someone without seeming like a jerk or even an ass? It s not that
you don t love them, it s not that you re bored with them, but the simple fact that you have outgrown
the person you thought you might spend the rest of your life with. When two people go their separate
ways and choose to breakup, the person who ends it, is fed up the most, but at what cost? Almost
everyone you know that has been in a long relationship and has broken up, has been conflicted on how
to end it. If you follow the five steps MCPSR, meditate, conversate, plan the date, separate, and
reevaluate you will be single without worry.
The first thing you do not want to do is jump to conclusions, and end the relationship without thought.
Because if you end the relationship this way, you will regret it later. You will feel guilty about the way
you handled the situation, and from perspective of the significant other, you, my friend are going to be
resented for forever and a day. The first approach is to meditate, or take some me time. Me time is
what one likes to call time that no is around to bother you and make you wish you were on death road
laying in your casket with your phone in your hand about to make your last life changing tweet before
taking your last breath. When taking your me time, you need to think about all of the good and all of
the bad in your relationship. If you can t pin it on the first try, attempt to write it down. Make two
columns, on one side write good and on the other write bad. When doing this you are listing all of the
good things and all of the bad things in your relationship, this helps you way your options on whether
to end it or attempt to save it. If the good out ways the bad, then that is when you should consider
saving it, but if the bad out ways the good... you should consider dropping them like a hot tamale on a
late Saturday night at 3:00 in the morning watching cartoons trying to shove it in your mouth after 3.2
seconds out of the microwave.
Your second step is simple, conversate . Talk to someone that has been in your situation. Why? Glad
you asked, you do this because the person who has been in your situation knows the do s and the don

Whilst all of these technological developments were taking place in the F1 arena, Ferrari chose to
focus on it s long term strategy which focused on the development of the V6 turbocharged engine.
This essentially meant that their drivers were now competing with cars that no longer held a
competitive advantage, in fact the cars were now considered inferior. The fundamental flaw in this
instance was that Ferrari had ignored the change in trends in the immediate environment and stuck to
what they felt worked. The strategy was to exploits their strengths but neglected the opportunities that
presented themselves. They had failed to respond to an immediate threat, thus exposing their
weaknesses and allowing themselves to retrogress to the extent that Ferrari was no longer considered a
threat. This was further compounded by the problems that were being experienced between Audetto

The Globalization Of The World Economies Is A Direct...
Over the past few decades, particularly during the 2000s, financial markets around the globe have
become increasingly interconnected (Shmukler, 2004). This mounting integration of the world
economies is a direct result of globalization. Particularly, the globalization of financial markets is
characterized by substantial cross national flows of capital and the development of a large foreign
exchange market. Every day around the world, banks and stockbrokers transfer vast amounts of
money across country borders in the form of retirement funds, hedge funds, insurance, and similar
investments. For instance, a German national is able to purchase Facebook stock which is an
American based company that went public to venture capitalists around the ... Show more content on

According to Schmukler (2004), when financial institutions in one country are under duress,
borrowers have the option to raise capital by issuing shares in domestic or international capital
markets. The globalization of finance make the valuing and distribution of capital more efficient as
changes in financial risks are revealed quickly. Furthermore, borrowers and investors can obtain better
terms on their financing as they are able to tap a broader pool of capital from a more diverse and
competitive array of providers (Häusler, 2002). Corporations can afford tangible investments because
they have become substantially cheaper. As a result, these reduced rates improve economic activity
and growth, in addition to economic prosperity. Emerging enterprises and reputable banks can source
funds from a diverse group of providers, and build their businesses.
On the other hand, the pitfalls of financial globalization include: the instability of markets, distortion
of the allocation of capital, emerging companies and banks are vulnerable because of inadequate
regulation, and the contagion phenomenon. The globalization of financial markets are volatile and this
may threaten markets. When the globalization of financial market occurs, financial risk will become
actively traded among companies, investors, and other nations. Consequently, it becomes challenging
to pinpoint potential challenges and measure

Security
As with many great idea there within lies caveats. The need for security is crucial. After all, any
breach can cause serious harm to the business and its employees. In order to secure such a complex
Unified Communications (UC), one must understand the vulnerabilities to be had. Within this research
project, the security concerns shall be addressed prior in order to learn the possibilities to be had in
developing an IC that could regurgitate its own information through data mining to continuously
achieve higher levels of workplace efficiency. Thereby creating the SMARTbusiness model.
The Need for Commonality and Uniform Structure
With the continued rise of the Internet of Things (IoT), so does the continued rise of urgency on part
of most product manufacturers and service providers to produce a device that can not only
communicate information regarding its current condition, but also communicate the condition of what
is around the device. The fast pace of IoT development has produced a perplexing variety of device
configurations, each with their own attributes, data structures, and particularities. In addition,
companies are deploying variations of devices, each designed to meet specific purposes. As a result,
the ability to manage IoT devices is rapidly diminishing.
Configuration Management
Another concern regards is configuration management. In time, some common standards will become
a part of the design for IoT devices. However, when these standards mature and

Difference between formal and informal imperialism
Throughout the history of the world, different kingdoms have been competing to expand their
territories. In most cases, the expansion of theses territories has been at the expense of weaker
territories that are incapable of fighting back effectively owing to different barriers . For example, the
Mongols expanded their territory in less than a hundred years to over 6,000 miles using lightning fast
archers who rode on horsebacks . An irrefutable fact about empires is the fact that they never hold
together for long as they fall apart. However, as time has been passing, changes have been exhibited in
the empires that are being formed. As such, historians normally divide imperialism into two types ,
formal, as well as informal imperialism. Consequently, this article explains the differences that exist
between formal imperialism and informal imperialism by use of examples.
To begin with, the literal meanings of the two types of imperialism act as a difference between them.
For instance, informal imperialism may be taken to signify an authority without any trace of formality,
also without any fixed rules set to control. As a matter of fact, it may be defined to be an authority
without the usual forms that symbolize authority . Clearly, this is the opposite of all the values that
formal imperialism encompasses. Formal imperialism creates a

The Concept Of Courtly Love In Don Quixote And Don Cervantes
Love. What is it? What is its purpose? The J. Geils Band says love stinks. Pat Benatar says love is a
battlefield. The idea of love proliferates every aspect of our human culture. Love influences our
literature, music, religion, and social lives. Love makes us do funny things, makes us feel warm and
fuzzy, hurts us, brings people together, and transforms lives. Love transforms us. Sometimes for the
better, sometimes for the worse. There are multiple types of love such as brotherly love and courtly
love. Courtly love is an example of how love transforms a person. In the traditional definition of
courtly love, the love struck hero is on a constant struggle to reach the object of his affection. While
Cervantes provides an accurate portrayal of courtly love in Don Quixote, Dante s version in Inferno
and Purgatory is a more convincing use of courtly love because his character, Dante, emerges as a
transformed character through the process of trying to get to his beloved Beatrice. The principles of
courtly love: often adulterous, the lady is inaccessible, a lot of emotion, usually ends in
death/separation rather than marriage, the lady is idealized, and the hero would go through anything
for his lady ( Medieval View of Love ). There are three main principles that can be compared and
contrasted between Dante s work and Cervantes work: the idealization of the lady, inaccessibility of
the lady, and the journey of the hero trying to reach his lady. The object of Dante s courtly love

Stephenie Meyer Influence On Religion
On December 24, 1973, Stephenie Meyer was born in Hartford, Connecticut and later raised in
Phoenix, Arizona. Being brought up as a Mormon, she was very religious and was thought of as
intelligent and bright by almost every one of her teachers. In early childhood, she began to read
authors from Emily Dickinson to Shakespeare which influenced her award winning four book series.
Taking themes and similar ideas from the authors that inspired her, Stephenie Meyer brought the love
for vampire thrillers back to life in her series, The Twilight Saga.
Her major works are what make people gravitate towards her. In early June of 2003, Meyer dreamt of
a girl and a vampire falling in love but he was always craving her blood. After having this dream,

character, Bella, is a mortal girl who finds herself attracted to Edward, a vampire who is always

soon as she finds out, it s all mushy love and action from there. Edward is always trying to protect her,
which what girl doesn t want that in a guy, but while Bella loves that, she is also trying to be
independent and make her own decisions. Meyer does an outstanding job of making the reader feel
what Bella is feeling throughout the entire series. I believe she does the best in New Moon when
Edward leaves Bella because he thinks he is hurting her and robbing her of her humanity. He feared
she would one day want to become a vampire and didn t wish that for her, he didn t even wish that for
himself. With that thought, he left her at once. Meyer took the reader through how Bella coped with
the loss of Edward and what she did to keep her from thinking about him. People may not have gone
through something this dramatic, but it s a relatable topic which is why people gravitate toward this
series. People also love to see the love story unravel with all the obstacles they have to face in order to
be together in the end. While reading and anticipating, the reader sees the two characters fall in love
and grow up. I think the whole Twilight

Social Conflict and Inequality Essay
Social Conflict and Inequality
The social conflict paradigm is a theory based on society being a complex system characterized by
inequality and conflict that generate social change. Personal life experiences dictate me to believe this
theory is true. Discussion of the theory in question and how it pertains to myself will be covered in the
paper. Social conflict can be seen all over the world we live in: in sports, politics and normal social
engagements. The main point I have experienced with this theory would be the fact that I don t come
from a rich, powerful, and prestigious family, which in turn limits my chances of being successful.
Karl Marx studied social conflict His entire life and wanted to reduce social inequality. The social ...

The majority of blacks are not given the same opportunities as whites partially due to the fact that they
are fighting an uphill battle. Just like coming from a poor family a colored person would lose out in a
battle over a job to a white person more often than not. Thus the social conflict theory is proven by the
way society runs. Social conflict has affected myself in the way that since I do not come from a rich
family background I need to work much harder to achieve my goals than I would if I did come from a
rich background. My eyes see social conflict when I hear about people from rich backgrounds that don
t have to work while in school, which frees up more time and makes it easier to concentrate on grades.
This can lead to a more prestigious college, which then leads to a more prestigious job. I don t have
this advantage so I have to work my way thorough school. This disadvantage leads to less time to put
into work, which means lower grades. My situation of managing to work forty hours a week and
taking full time classes is tough; whereas if I was from a powerful family I would not have to deal
with the burden of working and would be able to concentrate on my studies more. Social conflict also
tells me that I am better off than others who aren t even able to attend college due to their
backgrounds. A lot of people upon leaving high school have to jump in the work force right away and
support their families. This makes it hard to change their

The Solar System
What are planets? Planets are kinda like asteroid around the sun. There are nine planets in the solar

The terrestrial planets are the four innermost planets in the solar system, Mercury, Venus, Earth and
Mars. They are called terrestrial because they have a compact, rocky surface like the Earth s. The
planets, Venus, Earth, and Mars have significant atmospheres while Mercury has almost none. The

The Sun appears to have been active for 4.6 billion years and has enough fuel to go on for another five
billion years or so. At the end of its life, the Sun will start to fuse helium into heavier elements and

Theme Of Empathy In The Cask Of Amontillado
Remorse is a product of a deep regret which is brought upon by empathy, something in which the
character Montresor in the story The Cask of Amontillado by Edgar Allen Poe claims he does not
possess, as he desires to commit the perfect revenge. This paper argues that the em dash used in the
cask of amontillado signifies that Montresor feels remorse for his actions but rapidly recomposes
himself, as the em dash allows him to blame his feelings on account of the dampness of the catacombs
(pg.854). But, in doing so proves that perfect revenge is unattainable, and Montresor is left to pretend
that he is unable to feel empathy.
The em dash in this story suggests Montresor feels remorse but wills it away. But in doing so, proves
that perfect revenge is nonexistent. No matter how deep the hatred may be for Fortunato, Montresor is
only human and as such, his consciousness and empathy take control of him. This new found
realization and remorse is quickly overcome, regaining his composure by stating his feelings occurred
on account of the dampness of the catacombs (pg.854). Thus, the em dash displays how quickly the
entire mood of a situation can change. Montresor was able to swiftly recover his composure and as a
result it would seem as he had no feeling of remorse although, the opposite is true. His remorse is
further shown when after 50 years he said [rest in peace] (pg.854). Montresor still has some remorse
left in him even after this extended period thus his need to ask

The World Is Becoming More And More Transparent Day By Day...
The world is becoming more and more transparent day by day through globalization since people have
begun to shift their perspective, and change their way of thinking and behave accordingly. Everyone is
spectating different types of cultures and the religions that other people follow across the globe, along
with the mix technological advancements which will ultimately shape what people believe it to be
normal or abnormal. Therefore, with the integration of what seems to be normal in today s world can
be in fact abnormal a 100 years from now, and vice versa. Michael Warner illustrates in his writing,
The Trouble with Normal that, People didn t sweat much over being normal until the spread of
statistics in the nineteenth century. Now they are surrounded by numbers that tell them what normal is:
census figures, market demographics, opinion polls, social science studies, psychological surveys,
clinical tests, sales figures, trends, the mainstream, the current generation, the common man, the man
on the street, the heartland of America etcetera. (Warner, p.53). These are many of the few statistical
perspectives that have taken great leaps through technological advancements and globalization.
Similarly, we get to learn more about the human behavior through cultural and evolutionary
perspectives. These methods can help guide the behavior of normality and abnormality throughout
time. It seems pretty obvious from today s world that the mass migration towards the urban areas

Analysis Of Lawrence C. Goodwyn s The Sixties
Within the article, author Lawrence C. Goodwyn speaks on many topics involving both race and
populism in the southern states. Goodwyn also speaks on the evolution of the biracial movement by
the name of the Populist Party as well as its abiding legacy and impact on society. Populism at one
point in time simply meant the advocacy of multiple reform issues. Topics including the election of
senators, worker rights, and income tax were among the few reforms led by the Populist Party.
Goodwyn briefly touches on exactly how the modern day connection to populism has evolved as well
when he states, ...It is not invoked to explain George Wallace, as it is used to explain Lindon B.
Johnson in the sixties... (Goodwyn). He later goes on into specific details which explain exactly why it
has eventually earned the title of the people s party today. Lawrence Goodwyn goes on to speak on a
southern county in Texas by the name of Grimes County. According to Goodwyn, Grimes County s
Populist Party was amongst the many county s that remained prevalent due to things such as the
increase of many white southerners feeling slightly threatened by the thought of the concept of black
power increasing during this time period. Not to mention the fact that the census of 1890 displayed
that nearly half of the total population in Grimes County were African American. Throughout the

Theory Of Skyline Queries
Many attempts have been made towards developing optimized algorithms and introduction of several
models for skyline queries. Skyline queries had been studied as the maximum vectors before Borzsony
and colleagues [23] introduced skyline queries for database applications. Various algorithms are
provided for skyline computations, including calculation of the progressive skyline using auxiliary
structures, the nearest neighbor algorithm for processing the skyline query, the branch and bound
skyline (BBS) algorithm, the sort filter skyline (SFS) algorithm that exploits pre arranged lists, and
linear erase sorting (LESS) algorithm for the skyline. Recently, there has been a growing interest in
addressing the problem of large dimensions for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In [28], it is shown that the proposed method is not correct. Sharifzadeh and colleagues [29] have
proposed another version of the method that eliminates the flaws of the previous version, but it is
computationally costly. Other methods for calculating skyline have been suggested as well. A multi
objective optimized process for skyline has been presented based on the genetic algorithm by Özyer et
al. [30]. Fuzzy skyline has been proposed to make the skyline more flexible. In particular, fuzzy
skyline in [31] is considered and a flexible overcome relation is provided. This relationship makes it
possible to extend skyline with points that are not highly dominated by any other points (even if they
are strongly dominated). Yet, other methods arise to improve the skyline. A variety of fuzzy skyline
methods are studied in [32]. In the paper, five incentives are raised to fuzzify the skyline. The first
motivation is to refine the skyline with the introduction of a sequence of points to find the best skyline
points. The second is to make the skyline more flexible. This means that where points conditions are
close to the skyline points, they are also considered as members of the skyline. In the third case, the
skyline can become easier with different methods. For example, by

Mamie P. Kenneth B. Clark
Biographical Information
Mamie Phipps and Kenneth Bancroft Clark are best known for their doll studies, and the use of their
findings regarding the effects of racism on the psychological identity of black children in the historic
Brown vs. the Board of Education of Topeka, Kansas case, which lead to the determination that
separate but equal education for black students was unconstitutional. Mamie Phipps Clark was born
April 18, 1917 to a middle class doctor from Hot Springs, Arkansas (Gibbons Van Nort, 2009, p. 29).
Because of her father s status, she had a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
30).
Kenneth Bancroft Clark was born July 24, 1914 in the Panama Canal Zone to parents of Jamaican and
West Indian descent (Kennedy, 2015). Like his wife, Kenneth Bancroft Clark also attended Howard
University and then Columbia University where he would become the first black man to earn a Ph.D.
in psychology (Kennedy, 2015). While at Columbia University, he was associated with Gunnar
Myrdal, a Swedish economist known for both his study of race relations and his contributions to
desegregation in the United States (Larson, 2014). Both Clarks are tied to the Civil Rights Movement
and their work is aligned with the social reconstructionist curriculum ideology of the time period.
Both Clarks define the ideal of what W.E.B. Du Bois (1903) hoped to achieve with his Talented Tenth
in that both pursued the highest levels of education and then sought to use that education as a means of
improving the lives of black people, particularly black children. Kenneth Bancroft Clark was
committed to the promotion of social action and believed that change needed to occur in the behavior
of both white and well as black people (Freeman, 2008, p. 419).
Theoretical Information
The psychological work of both Clarks is focused in the area of racial identity among black youth
(Gibbons Van Nort, 2009, p. 29). They sought to provide evidence of the detrimental effects of a
society where social norms are biased toward white culture. Though the Clarks are most widely
recognized for their

In the book, he uses objects and some of the stranded boys to illustrate the many themes that he had creatively woven into the book. Along with telling a story about boys that were stranded on an island, he creatively sent out an important message through allegory. In the book Lord of the Flies, Golding uses allegory to convey his themes, and one of the allegory used was a signal fire. She also stated she does not see the point of going to school. Brammer (2004) mentions language barriers is a hindrance among Latin American while in school. Many Latin Americans are bilingual; however, the will speak little English outside of the school setting. This causes complications due to their primary language is Spanish which is spoken by family and friends (Brammer, 2004). Additionally, Latin American endures a vast amount of peer pressure to do poorly in school or to drop out. One method to reduce the dropout rate of Latin Americans is teachers can make reasonable accommodation to their lesson plan to the address the students needs. Also involving the child s parents in their educations with the use of interpreters can assist the child to thrive educationally (Amy Buttler, personal communication, November 7, 2017). It is mentioned that Raquel s family has strong ethnicity rooted in the Costa Rican lineage. Latin Americans tend to have strong family ties that rely on the support and strength of each other. Familismo is a part of their cultural placing high value on the family that extends past the nuclear family (e.g. grandparents and extended family members) (Brammer, 2004). The researchers sampled MBA graduates who negotiated their full time job offers and examined their subjective negotiation experience and tangible concessions as predictors of their job satisfaction, compensation satisfaction, and intention to remain within their organizations 1 year later (p 525). The findings from this research study conclude that the subjective value incoming employees achieved during their first job negotiation significantly correlates with compensation satisfaction. It has one loop, two funnels, three turns, one five part zig zag, and one pulley leading from the end to the top, and four bells that rang and vibrated when the marble hit them. Our group divided the work by, assigning people jobs, then switching after a while. An example of that some people would score and other group members would fold, or some would build and others would test, and we took turns switching jobs. Something surprising we learned during construction is that it is very hard to make turns out of paper. Something else that went well for our group was making a bucket load of materials before we started really making the roller coaster. Another thing that went well for us was using a very strong foundation and structure before starting on the track. Also, we had to reinforce the structure when the roller coaster started wobbling a bit. The pulley was a bit of a challenge because it was hard to make and we ran out of string many times. We had to use much thicker string which held the pulley together, but created too much friction. Lastly, after we spray painted it, parts of the roller coaster started falling apart, like the pulley. Fixed the kinks in the roller coaster, and our finished product was Marbolous! In our construction our group would change how we constructed the pulley, the crooked columns, and the lack of sloping nearing the end. The main problem we had with the pulley, was the ... • 15. The Civil War Was A Tragedy Essay The Civil War was a long hard fought battle between the Union and the Confederate states from the year 1861 1865. The war was a tragedy, but the battles of the American Civil War caused many changes in America and in a good way, such as the abolishment of slavery and uniting the two sides together. Slavery was the main cause, but the north and south did not agree with each other on ideas, so it sparked the beginning of a war. A devastating blow to the Union, from Brig. Gen. Pierre G.T. Beauregard of the Confederate, caused Major Robert Anderson to begin a war. Conflicts between the two sides changed America for good. It is still one of the most bloodiest and affecting wars to date. It all started when a missile stroke a shore. At 4:32 a.m., on April 12, 1861, a fort in Charleston, South Carolina, Fort Sumter, was bombed. Threats were made to Federal troops occupying forts in the South. Major Robert Anderson was with the Union and asked the War Department for more reinforcements. He was in command of Fort Moultrie on Sullivan Island, not to far from Charleston. Anderson s play was to move him and his men to a more secure fort, which were either Castle Pinckney or the unfinished Fort Sumter. However, Francis Pickens, governor of South Carolina, did not like that idea and wanted Anderson to stay at Fort Moultrie. Anderson was already on his way to Fort Sumter. Pickens demanded Anderson to surrender but of course he did not want to. On March 1, Brigadier General P. G. T. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The fundamental flaw in this instance was that Ferrari had ignored the change in trends in the immediate environment and stuck to what they felt worked. The strategy was to exploits their strengths but neglected the opportunities that presented themselves. They had failed to respond to an immediate threat, thus exposing their weaknesses and allowing themselves to retrogress to the extent that Ferrari was no longer considered a threat. This was further compounded by the problems that were being experienced between Audetto and Laude, Ferrari s strength was derived somewhat from the relationship between Team Boss and Driver and with Audetto not being able to accomplish this, it impacted on the performance of the team. Difference Between Formal And Informal Imperialism DIFFERENCE BETWEEN FORMAL AND INFORMAL IMPERIALISM Name University Course Tutor Date Difference between formal and informal imperialism Throughout the history of the world, different kingdoms have been competing to expand their territories. In most cases, the expansion of theses territories has been at the expense of weaker territories that are incapable of fighting back effectively owing to different barriers . For example, the Mongols expanded their territory in less than a hundred years to over 6,000 miles using lightning fast archers who rode on horsebacks . An irrefutable fact about empires is the fact that they never hold together for long as they fall apart. However, as time has been passing, changes have been exhibited in the empires that are being formed. As such, historians normally divide imperialism into two types , formal, as well as informal imperialism. Consequently, this article explains the differences that exist between formal imperialism and informal imperialism by use of examples. To begin with, the literal meanings of the two types of imperialism act as a difference between them. For instance, informal imperialism may be taken to signify an authority without any trace of formality, also without any fixed rules set to control. • 25. The Concept Of Courtly Love In Don Quixote And Don Cervantes Love. What is it? What is its purpose? The J. Geils Band says love stinks. Pat Benatar says love is a battlefield. The idea of love proliferates every aspect of our human culture. Love influences our literature, music, religion, and social lives. Love makes us do funny things, makes us feel warm and fuzzy, hurts us, brings people together, and transforms lives. Love transforms us. Sometimes for the better, sometimes for the worse. There are multiple types of love such as brotherly love and courtly love. Courtly love is an example of how love transforms a person. In the traditional definition of courtly love, the love struck hero is on a constant struggle to reach the object of his affection. While Cervantes provides an accurate portrayal of courtly love in Don Quixote, Dante s version in Inferno and Purgatory is a more convincing use of courtly love because his character, Dante, emerges as a transformed character through the process of trying to get to his beloved Beatrice. The principles of courtly love: often adulterous, the lady is inaccessible, a lot of emotion, usually ends in death/separation rather than marriage, the lady is idealized, and the hero would go through anything for his lady ( Medieval View of Love ). There are three main principles that can be compared and contrasted between Dante s work and Cervantes work: the idealization of the lady, inaccessibility of the lady, and the journey of the hero trying to reach his lady. Meyer does an outstanding job of making the reader feel what Bella is feeling throughout the entire series. He feared she would one day want to become a vampire and didn t wish that for her, he didn t even wish that for himself. With that thought, he left her at once. Meyer took the reader through how Bella coped with the loss of Edward and what she did to keep her from thinking about him. Personal life experiences dictate me to believe this theory is true. Discussion of the theory in question and how it pertains to myself will be covered in the paper. Social conflict can be seen all over the world we live in: in sports, politics and normal social engagements. The main point I have experienced with this theory would be the fact that I don t come from a rich, powerful, and prestigious family, which in turn limits my chances of being successful. The majority of blacks are not given the same opportunities as whites partially due to the fact that they are fighting an uphill battle. Just like coming from a poor family a colored person would lose out in a battle over a job to a white person more often than not. Thus the social conflict theory is proven by the way society runs. Social conflict has affected myself in the way that since I do not come from a rich family background I need to work much harder to achieve my goals than I would if I did come from a rich background. My eyes see social conflict when I hear about people from rich backgrounds that don t have to work while in school, which frees up more time and makes it easier to concentrate on grades. This can lead to a more prestigious college, which then leads to a more prestigious job. I don t have this advantage so I have to work my way thorough school. This disadvantage leads to less time to put into work, which means lower grades. My situation of managing to work forty hours a week and taking full time classes is tough; whereas if I was from a powerful family I would not have to deal with the burden of working and would be able to concentrate on my studies more. • 36. Theme Of Empathy In The Cask Of Amontillado Remorse is a product of a deep regret which is brought upon by empathy, something in which the character Montresor in the story The Cask of Amontillado by Edgar Allen Poe claims he does not possess, as he desires to commit the perfect revenge. This paper argues that the em dash used in the cask of amontillado signifies that Montresor feels remorse for his actions but rapidly recomposes himself, as the em dash allows him to blame his feelings on account of the dampness of the catacombs (pg.854). But, in doing so proves that perfect revenge is unattainable, and Montresor is left to pretend that he is unable to feel empathy. The em dash in this story suggests Montresor feels remorse but wills it away. But in doing so, proves that perfect revenge is nonexistent. No matter how deep the hatred may be for Fortunato, Montresor is only human and as such, his consciousness and empathy take control of him. This new found realization and remorse is quickly overcome, regaining his composure by stating his feelings occurred on account of the dampness of the catacombs (pg.854). Thus, the em dash displays how quickly the entire mood of a situation can change. Montresor was able to swiftly recover his composure and as a result it would seem as he had no feeling of remorse although, the opposite is true. His remorse is further shown when after 50 years he said [rest in peace] (pg.854). Montresor still has some remorse left in him even after this extended period thus his need to ask ... Therefore, with the integration of what seems to be normal in today s world can be in fact abnormal a 100 years from now, and vice versa.
