STAGE 5
PRODUCTION
REFLECTIONS
Connor Wiffen
 This proforma is to record how you worked on your production
 You should complete this each week during production
 Consider all relevant areas that you covered that week
 Think about what worked/what didn’t work/how you can improve
and actions for the following sessions/weeks
This week was the first week of the Short Film project segment
where we started Case Studies, Initial Plans and Research for the
project. I made a spider diagram of three short film ideas which I
then expanded upon with the one I'm choosing to do. I also began
my Audience Research for the short film so I would have an outline
for the film's demographic.
Although as with the other projects it did take me a little while to get
into doing the work at a reasonable pace but by the end of the
week I was at a good point in the schedule - for the next weeks of
the project, I will work on getting everything done by the end of the
week so I am ready for the following section.
This week was the second week of the Short Film project segment
where I finished the Initial Plans and continued with my Research up
to the point of having Three products which will inspire my short film.
Towards the end of the week I finalised my idea by doing the
proposal for the short film so I would have a base for my Pre-
Production Document.
I would have liked to have had a bit more of my work done by the
end of the week but I anticipate having some free time later on to
finish anything I do not get complete by next week.
This week was the third week of the Short Film project segment
where I finished the and continued with my Research up to the
point of having Three products which will inspire my short film. I
then began working on my Pre-Production document to be ready to
film the next weekend.
The snow days prevented me from getting some of my work
completed but that will be something for me to finish during the
week before I film.
This week was the fourth week of the Short Film project segment
where I used my week before filming to make sure everything
was up-to-date so I didn’t rush to get it all finished during the
evaluation. This included completing the Experiments section of
the Research PowerPoint and adding the photographs of my
filming location.
I am happy that I have caught up with the work so I can film, edit
and evaluate my short film without the need to worry about also
getting everything else done.
I used the weekend after filming to completely edit my short film in
Sony Vegas instead of Adobe Premiere Pro as it was more easily
accessible to me at home. Within the program I assembled a rough
edit out of the footage taken and began the complete edit where I
started by cropping the aspect ratio to give it a more professional
film look. From there I continued onto perfecting the lighting of the
scenes and adding the visual effects, which involved cutting the clips
and placing a flashing transition to the scene where the main
character is caught up in the broken time for example.
The rest of the week was spent on evaluating the entirety of the
project and getting feedback on the work.
