Levelwise PageRank with Loop-Based Dead End Handling Strategy : SHORT REPORT ...Subhajit Sahu
Abstract — Levelwise PageRank is an alternative method of PageRank computation which decomposes the input graph into a directed acyclic block-graph of strongly connected components, and processes them in topological order, one level at a time. This enables calculation for ranks in a distributed fashion without per-iteration communication, unlike the standard method where all vertices are processed in each iteration. It however comes with a precondition of the absence of dead ends in the input graph. Here, the native non-distributed performance of Levelwise PageRank was compared against Monolithic PageRank on a CPU as well as a GPU. To ensure a fair comparison, Monolithic PageRank was also performed on a graph where vertices were split by components. Results indicate that Levelwise PageRank is about as fast as Monolithic PageRank on the CPU, but quite a bit slower on the GPU. Slowdown on the GPU is likely caused by a large submission of small workloads, and expected to be non-issue when the computation is performed on massive graphs.

2. Problem solving As I developed on this journey in my production stages, I can
confirm it has had its changes. There was many things that I could
and couldn’t do in the production. I am going to be explaining the
changes that I faced whilst editing and creating my documentary.
He we can see that I have developed my knowledge on premier pro
(2022) there was a lot of challenges I faced whilst editing. I was able
to overlap some voice overs into my work as well as this, I have
managed to understand how to incorporate videos from files into
premier pro and successfully cut and shorten clips. I am going to
discuss further some of the individual challenges as well as the
progress I have made further on .
3. Here is where I faced my major issues. I was able to edit the first
half of my documentary until some of the footage didn’t save.
As I tried to salvage the rest of the footage , premier pro was
unresponsive and would not load causing me to have to restart
the programming loosing my edits and any work that I had
produced. I then decided to try and restore anything that was
left however I was left with a blank screen meaning I had no
trace of my work causing me to restart all of my editing . In the
process I realised that I would have to export all of my files
causing some interruptions to my schedule.
I then decided that it would be easier to add all of my files into
the bottom left section of the screen where files are stored and
adding them to the timeline. I also saved it from the first second
meaning it would be stored on premier pro from now on and I
wouldn’t loose any files.
As well as this I had to convert some images into a jpeg to make
sure that they would transfer onto the timeline as an image and
not a link.

4. This is where I would alter the volume of
the audio and video. As I used a camera and
a microphone, I thought that it would be
loud enough , as when I did a test run video
it was. When it came to editing this piece of
interview I used the volume on the side
converting the noise from left hearing to
both left and right ,l increasing volume and
background noise, focusing the voices and
reducing reverb.
Here we can see this is where I was converting all of
my files. It was very untidy and hard to know what
footage was what , therefore I decided that I wanted
to re-name all of my files making it a lot neater and
accessible. As well as this I can now tell hat file needs
to be exported and converted into my sequence
without getting confused between the voice overs
and videos as there is multiple takes of each video as
well as infill videos.

5. Here is where I learnt to use
transitions to cut and edit my
videos. As my interviews were
quite long it made sense to cut
out some questions that were too
long as it would make it too long. I
used the razor tool to edit these
and turn them into shorter clips. I
did this by clicking where I wanted
to cut and the end I wanted it to
start at. This was very helpful as I
didn’t know how to do this so I
had to use a premier pro guide to
beginners on the internet.
I feel like I have made a lot of progress within my
knowledge of premier pro as I am able to unlink footage
and the sound and turn it into a voice over. This means I
can now insert footage, remove the sound and place it
above my voice over. This creates a visual for the
audience too look at however it gives a large focus to the
voice of god that’s talking about important information.
This creates a sequence of visual and vocal arrangements.

6. As we can see here , there were many issues,
I had to download many files to add to my
documentary, as well as this I also added this
to my documentary, it created an over lap of
the voice over as well as the video I was able
to unlink this and insert some effects.
I had some issues with the effects as I was
unable to use audio and visual effects at the
same time, however I did manage to
overcome this issue. I did this by using the
razor tool to cut some of the segments apart
and also extend the length of the transition
time adding a fade into some parts of the
documentary.

7. This is the last part of my documentary
that I edited. I wanted to add a voiceover
on top of another layer. This took some
time and practice as it was a trail and
error process. I had to edit the volume
into separate sides of the sound system ,
increasing the voiceover vocals, and
reducing the sound of the music, as I was
layering two sounds on top of each other.
This proved quite difficult during my
editing. I was able to do this by increasing
the time scale to 8 seconds and use a fade
longer on the sound of the music to slow
the fade out to bring the documentary to
an end. 19-04-22
8. PRODUCTION DIARY
This is some evidence taken of me showing
the angles I was thinking of filming at.
I wanted to use the black background in
some of my work however I changed it to the
white background soon after as I didn’t want
it to look dull or uncoloured.
9. evidence
This is where I was setting up the
microphone and the camera onto the tripod.
I also used the camera and the microphone
for my voiceovers. I did it in the room I was in
, as it is small and a lot less echoed.
I decided that this room would
work well to set up my voice overs,
as there is plenty of space to move
the tripod. The microphone can be
set up close to myself and I am also
able to dim the lights to work in a
more darker space when filming
certain parts.
10. Here is where I was filming my voice overs.
As we can see I have connected a
microphone onto the camera, and I have
positioned it so I can talk directly into the mic
and get the best sound result I can.
I have not set up the camera as I will be
unlinking all of my sound of my voiceovers
and removing any video.
11. Changes
• This is an example of original footage I
had filmed. I was going to use this however
I had multiple videos and I then archived
some footage.
• I decided to do this as I didn’t want my
documentary to be too long . This would
also mean that any extra footage would
not last the same length as my voice overs.
This would mean it would collide with my
time schedule. I wanted to make sure I had
extra footage so that if I needed to extend
any, I could always alter the footage used.
