- Over the course of 6 weeks, the document's author worked on various production elements for their film project, including posters, trailers, DVD packaging, and a website. They spent significant time editing footage, color grading, and creating special effects for the trailer. They completed their first poster but lost the file, then finished additional posters. They finished editing and were mostly happy with the end result. They created DVD packaging and a minimalist poster, editing the latter onto real billboards. They finalized all materials and began their evaluation in the last week.

1. Production Reflection

2. Week One
• In the first week of production, a lot of the time was
spent downloading the footage I had shot. Whilst I
was waiting for this, I created several overlays for my
trailer, so I didn’t have to spend time doing this later. I
also started work on my first of 3 film posters, with
this one being the most intricate and detailed one. I
am happy with the progress I have made this week,
although I could have made a bit more progress on
my poster as there is a lot less time. After going back
to take screenshots of the first poster the file had
corrupted and I had lost it, but I did export it first.
Next week I plan to finish off my first poster and
possibly start editing my trailer once the clips are
downloaded.

time and the
photoshop file has
corrupted and has
been lost.

4. Week Two
• In the second week I continued working on my poster
and got it completed, although I could not start my
video editing as the clips were still not downloading
due to slow college wifi, I tried to create some
promotional t shirts and hats, but I couldn’t get the
logo right and didn’t want to waste a lot of time on it.
After this I created a very basic promotional poster,
with the name of the film and a release date which
would be used for promotion on social media. I am
mostly happy with this week's progress although I did
waste some needed time on some things that didn’t
work out. Next week I plan to start video editing and
creating my trailer.

5. • To create this poster, I first removed Calvin from the
photo and filled in the background with the clone
stamp tool and added a motion blur, I then reenabled
the layer with Calvin on it and added a slight motion
blur to him so it blended with the image more, I also
blurred around some of the edges with a blur tool to
make it look more cohesive. I then added the film title
behind his head and then in cinemas and the date at
the bottom of the poster. I tried putting the bottom
text behind Calvin like I did with the title, but his legs
obscured the text

6. Week Three
• On week three I started with my video editing, some
clips still were not downloaded but I had enough to
start editing, I spent most of the week color grading
the footage, but I could not get it to a standard I was
happy with, but I was spending too much time on it,
so I had to move on, I spent Friday cutting down the
footage I had graded as it was a lot of unneeded
footage. I'm not very happy with the progress I've
made this week but it’s a start to continue with, and I
have 3 more weeks to finish off the editing to a
standard I'm happy with. Next week I plan to just
continue with editing.

7. • This is the process
of color grading the
footage. The
difference isn't too
noticeable but after
adjusting the
exposure, contrast
etc. the image is a lot
more saturated and
brighter. Overall, I'm
happy with the
overall result
although it could be
improved with more
time spent on it.

8. Week Four
• On week four I continued with the editing; the rest of
the footage had downloaded so I was happy with
that. I spent Tuesday creating some glitch effects to
make the first section of quite boring footage, more
interesting. I also tried to create an effect where most
of the background was black, so it related to the text
on the screen, but the sky looked over saturated, but I
quite liked how it looked so I kept it. I spent Thursday
and Friday grading and editing the rest of the footage,
so it matched the first section of footage. I am happy
with most of the work Ive got done this week and I
am still on track to have the video editing done, next
week I'm going to continue editing and possibly move
on to creating a DVD cover and my final poster.

9. • To create the glitch
effect, I cut the parts I
wanted to have the effect
from the footage and
layered it on top then
turned the opacity down
to around 20% and offset
it very slightly to create
the effect. To create the
shadowy effect, I added a
LUT to make the image a
lot darker and then
increased the shadows to
really get the darkness up,
and then turned down the
saturation, so the sky
wasn’t as bright.

10. Week Five
• On week five I spent Tuesday finishing my video
editing, which I am mostly happy with, and moved on
to creating my DVD cover, which I want to complete
this week as I only have two weeks of production left.
I spent Thursday and Friday on the DVD cover, and got
it finished by Friday afternoon, I moved on to creating
a minimalist style poster, possibly to go on billboards
and bus shelters, and I am hoping to get this finished
by Tuesday at the latest. I am happy with the progress
Ive made this week as Ive finished the main task and
the majority of the smaller side projects. Next week I
want to finish off my minimalist poster and edit onto
a bus shelter or something like that, I also want to
spend some time making my website look neater and
more organized.

11. • This is the full timeline of
the completed trailer. I added
a lot of sound effects I found
to give it the missing extra
tension, added my own music
at the beginning, and I made
the song breakdown where
the film starts to glitch which I
think gives the music some
texture and flow instead of
leaving it clean. After the
main song breaks down it
switches to a royalty free
horror soundtrack that I found
on YouTube. There is places at
the end where the music is
cut to the beat to give the
trailer some extra added
tension right at the end.

12. To create the DVD cover I first got a
picture of yellow lightning and
warped it to a wave shape and then
added a slight lens blur to give it
some texture, I then added the text,
first in a yellow colour and then
added a dark light blend which gave
it the yellow and orange color, I then
duplicated the text and warped it so
it looked like sun rays coming out
from behind it, I then added the DVD
logo and the age ratings. After this I
duplicated the picture of Calvin
running and filled it with a yellow
color and turned the opacity down to
20% on one and 40% on the other
and layered them around the
origional imagr of Calvin, I then
added the origional layer of Calvin to
finish it off.

13. To create the back DVD
cover I started off with the
same image as the front,
but reversed it so it looked
slightly different, I used the
same process as warping
and bluring as the front
cover. I then added the
barcode, age rating, credits,
etc to fill out the back of
the cover, I then added star
reviews and ratings to the
back and then added the
description to the back and
the names of the actors

14. Week Six
• Ive spent the final week finishing off the minimalistic
poster and editing it into real life scenarios and
finalizing things like the DVD cover and the other
posters. I spent Thursday updating my website to
make it look more professional and have spent friday
starting my evaluation.

15. • Creating my minimal poster
was easy as I started off with a
plain yellow background and
then added the relevant text, I
then added a box that I made
using the line drawing tool but
as I thought it wasn’t enough, I
added some lines to make it
look like it was cracked which
really filed out the space and
gave me the desired effect.
Editing my poster onto the
billboard was quite easy, since
all I had to do was find a picture
of a blank billboard and then
warp my poster to fit onto it.
