The adoption process involves 5 stages: awareness, interest, evaluation, trial, and adoption/rejection. At the awareness stage, consumers are first exposed to a new product through publicity, promotion, or word of mouth. In the interest stage, consumers seek more information about the product. During evaluation, consumers determine if the product will meet their needs. They then trial the product on a limited basis to see how well it fits with their needs. Finally, consumers will either adopt the product for future use if the trial was favorable or reject it if unfavorable.
