Carrying Capacity
Carrying Capacity The world is a dangerous place to live; not because of the people who are evil, but
because of the people who don t do anything about it (Albert Einstein). In our world today people are
ignorant. Humans use their imagination too much and their brain too little. Also, people don t do
anything to solve their problems because we think nothing could go wrong, we expect others do fix
everything. That is where we re wrong. Today lots of people are saying the world won t reach a
carrying capacity, but I disagree. I think the world will reach its carrying capacity before 2100. This
will happen for many reasons: Natural Disasters, Wars, too little ... Show more content on

This means that a lot of people are not getting the stuff they need. The rates of people who don t get
enough to eat is skyrocketing. People are becoming homeless because of competition on jobs and
much more. Everything is getting more expensive and some people can t afford what they need. The
website worldhunger.org tells us about how there is enough food on this earth for everyone to get a
good meal. So what s stopping us? Greediness and expensiveness. Today we have one big problem;
Natural Disasters. Everything else is kind of preventable and fixable, but not Natural Disasters, they
are indomitable and inevitable. We have: Tornadoes, Tsunamis, Volcano Eruptions, Earthquakes,
Hurricanes, Monsoons and much more. Global Warming has affected us too. Lots of things effect on
us, but it s not the effect it has, but how it affects our ability to get over it. When a big tornado hits and
kills a lot of people, what do we do? We let it get a hold on us; fear takes over and we scramble for our
only chance hope. We hide. So after a big storm happens and lots of people are killed we still don t do
the big thing. We don t help. Some people like the Red Cross and other Organizations, help the people
in need, but a lot of people still stay in their cushy lives. They don t help them. If we can t help them
over the inevitable, than how can we help them with things we can

Extending Lunch Time In Conroe High School
Lunch is a really important meal, especially during school because eating the food fuels you up with
energy that is used towards the end of the school day feel lunch stressful and boring because it is
short? Think there needs to be a change done to fix this problem? Dr. Weatherly should extend lunch
time in order to make his students feel good and appreciate the time to eat. Some people might say
that lunch is a time when everyone has enough time to eat all their lunch and enjoy it. Well that s not
the case. As for a fact, in Conroe high school has four lunches called a,b,c, and d; with each only thirty
minutes to eat. Some students complain that they don t have enough time to eat because the lunch

Historiography The Natural
Historiography Historiography is a historical film theory that focuses on the assumptions, principles,
and methodologies of historical study (Giannetti, 528). Giannetti divides this theoretical study into
four different types of film history: aesthetic, technological, economic, and social. According to
American scholar, Raymond Fielding, the history of motion pictures as an art form, as a medium of
communication, and as an industry has been determined principally by technological innovations
(Giannetti, 531). With time comes much technological advancement that will allow filmmakers to
accurately portray what they want and give the audiences the intended experience. Technological
advancements have aided in the production of The Rookie and The Natural in the sense that both films
could be shown through a multitude of decadal lenses. Both films show the main characters in their
childhood and how that has shaped who they are, but it also shows them in adulthood as well. The
changes in time range from ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While The Natural contains many attributes from each perspective, the analysis can best be related to
structuralism and semiology. Joseph Campbell mentions a good point while discussing the function of
mythology by saying that, one of the functions of mythology is to guide human spirit by providing
common or universal symbols that offset that darker nature of humans (Wood Pincus, 22). The Natural
most certainly follows this function with the underlying network of symbolic meaning along with its
many symbols. Each of the metaphors discussed by Wood and Pincus can relate to the points
previously mentioned in the structuralism/semiology section and their analysis includes some aspects
not previously noted that would further contribute to the underlying structure, such as the universal

Essay about Donnie Darko Belonging
Belonging is a perception shaped within personal, social, cultural and historical context. While to most
the concept only includes acceptance and harmony, there can be two sides to belonging, and Donnie
Darko explores this idea through its characters and their context in the film.
Donnie Darko is set against the backdrop of the 1988 Bush vs. Dukakis Presidential election; it
represents 1980 s conservative America through the last 28 days, 6 hours, 42 minutes and 12 seconds
of Donnie Darko s life. There is a strong theme of insecurity and isolation and many of the characters
don t belong throughout the film.
These themes are represented by Kelly using a range of film techniques. The use of iconic references,
such as fashion, news and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Like Donnie, she sees the bigger picture of society. We are losing them to apathy. She explains to the
indifferent Principal Cole.
I am sorry that you have failed. He replies, after an unsatisfactory explanation for her dismissal.
During the scene, Mrs Pomeroy is seated lower than Principal Cole, making him seem more powerful
and while Mrs Pomeroy s body language is open and truthful, Principal Cole s is cagey and
exasperated, blocked off and protected by his desk. The audience and Mrs Pomeroy know who is
right, but are powerless to change anything, creating a feeling of isolation.
A sense of irony is created as the most honest people in the film are labelled as mentally unstable
(Donnie is diagnosed with schizophrenia) or, in Ms Pomeroy s case, unsuitable figures of authority,
whereas characters such as Jim Cunningham, while famous and respected are revealed as false
(Donnie burns down Jim s house to expose a kiddie porn dungeon ).
While outcasts of society, they all are connected by their position, which could be seen as either a
blessing or curse. To be happily oblivious to the shortcomings of society might be wistfully
contemplated, however, given the choice, I don t think the characters would choose it.
Watching this movie, I felt I could relate to them, as I think everyone does, having experienced life so
far. It s confusing and frustrating sometimes. I m sure everyone has times where they feel like an alien

How Liberals Are Ruining College
My Thoughts on How Liberals are Ruining College This to me can be summed up in one word: sad. It
s truly saddening to me that we ve become this way. Where everything is taken to the most extreme
levels and assumed to be hate speech or that it of course must be meant in the worst possible way.
There are of course times where people do take things too far and mean them in the worst of ways.
Although, that is not what this is about. This is about the destruction of free speech to the extent of
teaching people to might as well not have free thinking. We might as well go around apologizing to
one another for the things we thought or even almost thought. Not to mention if we almost, or almost

It can almost be frightening. I know who I am and the things I say sometimes. After reading this I
know certain things I say or joke about would not be tolerated. Although I only ever talk to my family
and my small, sphere of friends who all mostly think the same way I do. It makes me want to check
the policies for the school I plan to go to. I hadn t even read NWACC s until a good three or four
weeks into the school year. Some might say that it would have been smart to do this sooner, but I
always thought if I used a little common sense I wouldn t end up somewhere I wouldn t want to be. I
ve survive this far, but obviously, that s what a lot of these schools or professors were thinking as well.
The worst part is that some of these schools, where these incidents have happened, already had
numerous policies and rules in place discriminating against these things. Yet people still accidently
said something that set someone off! There s no end! The punishment is even more asinine than the
act at times. There are occasions when there s an outcry over a simple statement that was
misunderstood and it is dealt with easily. For example, in one case another email was sent out
disregarding the last one and apologizing. In other cases, they are removed, fired, or banned for a year.

Alfred Von Shlieffen
Before World War I, German Chief of staff Alfred von Schlieffen was requested by Kaiser Wilhelm II
to create Germany s army a plan for a war against France and Russia. Germany could not compete
with other European powers. Surrounding states afraid of Germany s quick growth and aggressive
attitude were eager to contain it. The Kaiser sought out Schlieffen and directed him to devise a plan
that would allow Germany to gain power and assert itself as a dominant state. Because the Franco
Russian alliance was in place at that time in 1898, Germany was unable to attack just one of the
countries and not the other. Instead, it would be forced to fight a two front war. Wilhelm II knew that
if they were attacked, Britain would come to France s defense.

Marshmallows Research Paper
Marshmallows are a sugar based candy with a spongy consistency. Originally consumed as a
medicinal confection derived from the marshmallow plant, Althaea officinalis, marshmallows are now
consumed as a sweet snack or confection. Over time, the marshmallow s use has altered. Once used
for medicinal purposes, we now know them as a sweet snack or as a popular camping tradition roasted
marshmallows. Roasted marshmallows are formed when the marshmallow is placed at the end of a
stick and held over an open flame, causing the marshmallow to form a caramelized exterior and soft
interior. Another popular rendition of the marshmallow is its use as a part of the popular treat, s mores.
S mores are created by inserting the toasted or cooked marshmallow

Marx and Durkheim’s Views Contributed to our Understanding...
How have Marx and Durkheim s Views Contributed to our Understanding of Crime and Deviance?
Karl Marx s Marxist theory and Emile Durkheim s functionalist theory were both significant in their
own ways and therefore made a large contribution to our perception and understanding of how crime
and deviance occurs and is dealt with in society. The Marxist theory on crime was focused on the
concept that the huge shift towards a capitalist society was the root cause and driving force behind the
formation of social divisions and subsequent increase in crime and conflict. Willem Bonger expanded
on the Marxist theory by explaining that the capitalist shifts lead the law to focus on the proletariat
divisions as the deviant members of society, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He believed that the presence of deviance in society allows moral borders and boundaries to be
structured around social assumptions of deviant behaviours and what s considered right and wrong.
The subsequent responses to these types of behaviours promote social unity and encourage social
change. David Downes and Paul Rock proposed that crime should be viewed and a necessary factor
that is a healthy social phenomenon in societies. This shows that Durkheim sparked the recognition
that crime should be viewed as a healthy normality at sensible levels, rather than is being viewed as a
solely negative factor that brings society down. Crime and deviance is supposedly is key to regularity
in society, it provides a huge amount of public understanding and social acceptance to the existence of
crime. In doing this Durkheim allowed a new understanding that crime was something not to be
assumed as something that should be feared within society because it is in actual fact A normal
product of stable institutions . This was an entirely new and innovative concept at the time of the
theory of functionalisms introduction, people lived in fear of crime and people who possess deviant
characteristics. Neo Durkheimian theories have also been extremely helpful in explanations of how we
understand Durkheim s theory of functionalism and how it s been incorporated it in to today s society.
They emphasise on the fact that acts of deviance increase levels

Wireless Mobile Telecommunication Technology And The...
Abstract
With the development of mobile devices and web applications, people tend to access data, audio,
picture and video from their mobile devices anywhere and anytime, thus, wireless mobile
telecommunication becomes more and more important. Cellular network technology is the basis for
the wireless mobile telecommunication. And the generation is used to describe the development
history of wireless mobile telecommunication standard and technology, from first generation (1G) to
fifth generation (5G). Fourth generation (4G) is currently widely commercialized around the world by
different wireless service providers, or carriers. Mobile WiMAX and Long Term Evolution (LTE) are
two technology categories in 4G systems and the spread spectrum radio technology behind 4G is
orthogonal FDMA (OFDMA). 4G not only provides internet speeds that are five times faster than 3G,
but also reduces likelihood of losing the connection significantly, solving the problem of unreliability.
with sudden drops in speed and complete outages. LTE is based on the GSM/ EDGE and UMTS/
HSPA network technologies, offering high speeds and low latencies over long distances. FDD LTE
and TDD LTE are two different standards for LTE 4G technology. Besides, LTE Advanced is a major
enhancement of the LTE standard, in order to reach and surpass the ITU requirements.
Keywords: Cellular Network, 4G, LTE The purpose of the paper is to focus on the development of

Essay on The Passive Racism of Whites
The Passive Racism of Whites
In Why are All the Black Kids Sitting Together in the Cafeteria, Professor Beverly Daniel Tatum
defines racism as prejudice plus power. This means that a person can only be racist if they benefit
from a racist system. Therefore, the only people that would systematically benefit from racism are
Whites. Tatum calls this White privilege. . Everyone can be prejudice, but only the dominant race can
be racist. Although this is hard to hear, being a White college student I have always prided myself on a
subsistence that is free from bigotry, I realize that Tatum is right.
Not only is racism restricted to Whites, but it is an integral part of the lives of most Whites. Tatum
argues that many Whites are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I have such a strong desire to say the right thing and justify myself as someone who does not agree
with most of our country s institutions.
Tatum argues that it is difficult to talk about what is essentially a flawed and problematic social
construct without using language that is in itself problematic. . The language that is...problematic
comes in the form of euphemisms. The more words used to describe a certain social construct, the
more likely there is an underlying problem that needs to be solved. The underlying problem is the
tension between past actions, present guilt, and future expectations. White privilege is a truth, but
along with being on the VIP list of most institutions in this country, Whites are also burdened with
guilt. There needs to be some way that the problem of racism can be addressed without pointing
fingers.
I think a way to circumvent the guilt is to speak of grander renovations, such as legislative or
educational reforms. Perhaps then, the finger, which must be pointed in order for change to occur, will
land on a larger problem with society, our institutions. Even though Tatum is blunt about Whites being
the proprietors of racism, she does not exclude us from the fight for change, banishing us to sulk in
our nostalgic guilt. In fact, we, the people with an in to our country s many institutions, have a very
large responsibility to become active in the fight against racism.
Tatum argues that the reason that Whites

Moral Development In The Chronicles Of Birnia
Every individual within a society develops morality, either independently or with the help of other
people. For an individual to grow morally, he or she needs knowledge or background information in
order to differentiate right from wrong. Moral psychology, is defined in the field of psychology, as the
study of the development of the moral sense (Britannica Moral psychology). In other words, it is the
capacity for forming judgments about what is morally right or wrong, good or bad. Psychologist
Lawrence Kohlberg hypothesized an individual s development of moral standards progresses through
various levels. The early level, the child utilizes physical experiences such as pleasure or pain, as the

Justina And Hammurabi Differences
The main difference between King Hammurabi and Emperor Justina are, Justina was an Emperor and
Hammurabi was a king. Though at first this may not seem like a big difference, it is. They are
different, because an emperor is the ruler of an empire. An empire is a group of countries that are
controlled by one ruler. A king is the male ruler of an independent state; a country that has a royal
family. Although they share some similarities, the differences between them are remarkable. King
Hammurabi and Justina don t have that much in common. King Hammurabi is a king and Justinian is

by right of birth. And an emperor is a sovereign ruler of great

when Homer Plessy of mixed race sat in a railcar designated for white passengers. Louisiana s
Separate Car Act of 1890 required railroads to designate cars for both black and white passengers.
Plessy was arrested for refusing to move to a car designated for blacks and charged in violation of this
act. District Judge John Ferguson ruled the Separate Car Act was unconstitutional. 2. Pendleton Civil

were selected based on qualifications, as opposed to the previous Spoils System in which employees
were appointed in relation with their political party affiliation. This act intended to reduce corruption
in the federal government was proposed by Ohio senator George Pendleton and signed by President
Chester Arthur in 1883. 3. Muckrakers Muckraker was a term coined by President Theodore
Roosevelt, given to pro reform journalist who authored articles which exposed corruption in
corporations and government. Among, the journalist were Lincoln Steffens, Upton Sinclair, and Ida

grinding up rats and feces with their meat and using chemicals to cover the odor of spoiled products
sold to consumers. Shortly after the publication of The Jungle, The Pure Food Act was passed by

The Dilemmas Of Desire In The Franklin s Tale
Genesis Valdez ENG 4120 4 December 2017 The Dilemmas of Desire In Chaucer s Franklin Tale the
plot revolves around a married couple: the knight, Arviragus, his young wife, Dorigen, and a young
squire, Aurelius who importunes and attempts to Dorigen. The characters can be said to oscillate
between desire and their ego honor which affects what they say and do. Lacan s definition of desire
tells us that we desire for recognition from this Other. Our desire is to become what the other person
lacks. Duby s model of courtly love is a concept that focuses on chivalry, nobility and women being at
the center. In this paper, I will examine what the story reveals about the relation each character has to
his or her desire, how they act in accordance to their desire and the role magic or illusion plays in the
plot and how it affect characters relation to desire. In The Franklin s Tale, Dorigen marries Arviragus
and he promises to be true to her and never take an authoritarian role over her. Dorigen promises that
in return she will be his humble true wife and will give him his sovereignty. Arviragus gives Dorigen
power in the relationship and has dominion. Arviragus demonstrates courtly love because he serves
her in a way that allows freedom. The Franklin s Tale states, In such lordship as men have over their

INTRODUCTION: April 8, 2012 was the Sunday that Easter was celebrated that year. This date will
also be forever remembered as the day that Lieutenant Robert Neary and Firefighter Daniel Sweeney
lost their lives at the Thomas Buck Hosiery Factory fire in Philadelphia, PA. Since William Penn first
founded the city of Philadelphia in 1682, it has been an evolving and growing city, from a 17th
century colonial city to the capital of the United States during the American Revolution. The industrial
revolution of the 19th century transformed the green fields of lower Kensington, a section of

to the Battalion Commander, then to the Division commander and lastly to the Deputy Commissioner.
As the fire intensified, the command structure grew to include an operations section, logistics, safety

if the demand is w.r.t to Amar, Hukum and that if the language constitutes an Amar or an imperative

Chemistry Of Zinc Acetate Dihydrate
The chemicals used in the experiment were analytical reagent grade and were used without further
purification. Zinc acetate monohydrate [Zn(CH3COO)2 .H2O] Merck 98%, and sodium hydroxide
(99.5%, NaOH) pellets were purchased from R M chemicals (UK). Indium nitrate trihydrate, distilled
water was ethanol used throughout the experiments, PEG 20000, Triton X 100. For device fabrication
materials were procured from Solaronix. In a typical synthesis process, the reaction solution was
prepared by mixing 6g of Zinc acetate dihydrate in 70:30 ratio of ethanol/water. The ZnO precursor
containing In dopant was prepared with 0.0, 1.0, 3.0 and 5.0 mole % of indium. A thick white gel was
formed after the addition of NaOH into the reaction solution, the mixture was kept under magnetic
stirring for 24h to provide perfect growth, the resulting white gel was dried and finally calcined at
200ºC for 5h. The as prepared pristine ZnO:P and ZnO:In3+ samples were characterized via X ray
diffraction (XRD) using Cu Kα radiation (λ= 1.54056 Å) in the 2θ range of 20° 80° [Bruker Advanced

Social Media Marketing Strategies Are Really Helping Your...
When it comes to social media marketing, it s still pretty new terrain for most businesses. You can
never be sure that one type of social media campaign will work for what products or services. So
where does that leave you, the company? How are you supposed to know what marketing strategies
are actually helping your bottom line? That s where social media metrics come into play. Social media
metrics are measurement tools that help you sift through the thousands of likes, retweets, and shares
you re getting and make sense of it all. They are there to give some context to the massive amounts of
data that you re collecting. In short, they tell you if your marketing works or not. After all, at the end
of the day, what s the point of all of this if it isn t helping your company? The tricky thing is, there are
hundreds of different metrics so now you have to ask yourself which ones are best for you. Below we
ll highlight some of the most useful social media metrics, how they work and why they re so effective.
If you would like to look into others, though, we ve got a whole glossary full of other metrics here.
Impressions To put it briefly, impressions are the number of times that your page is displayed
regardless of whether or not people click on it or not. How many people saw your post or update?
That s impressions. By no means are impressions the end all be all of social metrics. The key thing to
take away from this is that you ll want to study a series of

Essay about Analysis of quot;The Birthmark quot;
Some say that beauty is only skin deep and believe that inner beauty, is a whole lot more important.
They are a small minority. Most of us strive for perfection in appearances it may be our own personal
appearance defined by the perfect clothes and the perfect look, the perfect home we live in, or the
perfect car we absolutely must have. People today are no different today than they were in the 19th
century, and we get an in depth understanding of the obsession with being perfect in Nathaniel
Hawthorne s The Birthmark. This short story is about a devoted scientist who marries a beautiful
woman with a single physical flaw; a birthmark on her face. Aylmer becomes obsessed with the
imperfection and needs to remove it, to be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As he said, nature, in one shape or another, stamps ineffaceably on all her productions. Georgiana was
a pretty lady; Nature has to bear a birthmark on her face in order to keep the balance, any attempt to
remove it should and would result in disaster that lead us to another conclusion Nature can not be
changed or altered, without significant consequences.
Hawthorne s sentiments are very relevant in today s world where the obsession with perfection often
back fires with unfortunate results. To get the perfect house, the perfect car, or even the perfect look
we go to extraordinary lengths. Do we ever stop to think if it is all worth it? Just for a little while
longer, we think, and then we ll have enough money to get that nose job, or be able to pay for
liposuction, or that implant that will remove Nature s imperfection and make life perfect. Just as
Aylmer said of his wife, you came so nearly perfect from the hand of Nature that this slightest possible
defect, which we hesitate whether to term a defect or a beauty, shock me, as being visible mark of
earthly imperfection, we harp on our imperfection in the same way, blame our parents for not getting
us braces at the right time, or contacts when

Mystery Powder Experiment
Starting our hypothesis was that it was cornstarch, according to all of the data we collected in table
2(example at bottom of page). When we just looked at the substance it had a powder like appearance
with no real specific way of being arranged. Then we started with each test of the powder first the
simple close up look test using the microscope this showed us basically what we had seen with our
eyes in a little more detail from this we found that it was what we had seen a powder like substance
with no real arrangement but the only difference was two crystals within the powder. Next we moved
on to the more complex test like the vinegar test in this test when the vinegar was mixed with the
substance it did not really mix at all the vinegar ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Immediately we count off baking soda, salt, and sugar because in the first test with the microscope,
they show all crystal arrangements unlike the powder in our mystery. Then we go on to count off the
plaster of Paris because in the vinegar test, it does the opposite of our mystery powder, it mixed with
the vinegar while our powder sat on top and started to harden. At this point we are down to flour and
corn starch these two show the same results in the iodine test the both turn into a thick black gel.
Continuing on to the heat test they show generally the same, but the flour starts to smoke unlike the
corn starch just turning brown after a while, but this is still a pretty close difference between the two
so then we go back to the vinegar test where the corn starch sat on top and hardened the flour just sat
on top of the vinegar so now this is two differences we have found comparing the flour to our mystery
powder. In the end the one that had all the same results as the mystery powder was the corn starch this
proves our hypothesis to be correct but there should be more to our hypothesis because the crystals
found in the substance therefore it must have one of the crystal substances in it also such as baking
soda, salt, sugar or plaster of

Analysis Of F. Scott Fitzgerald
F. Scott Fitzgerald was an American author who was known for his novels that generally take place
during the Jazz Age after World War I. His use of similes add deeper imagery and to emphasize certain
descriptions that are necessary to understand in his distinctive writing style. Fitzgerald incorporated a
lot of his own personal life into his works; his struggles with alcoholism, mental disorders and marital
problems are generally thrown into almost all his novels. Many of his stories can be read for their
symbolic qualities. Therefore, F. Scott Fitzgerald was popular for using uncommon and intricate
descriptions to help the reader better grasp what is going on in the story.
When F. Scott Fitzgerald was twenty three, he published his first novel This Side of Paradise which
tells the life of Amory Blaine from his childhood to his young adulthood who travels out to New
England to attend a boarding school and, later on, Princeton. This type of novel is known in the
literary world as a Bildungsroman which is a novel of personal and moral formation. Fitzgerald
demonstrates his unique voice and style and even includes poetry and theater within the work
(Quiklit). At the beginning of the story, Amory acts like a selfish and spoiled child. But as he gets
older, he becomes aware of his over inflated ego and begins to ponder on how he could become a
better person. He tries religion but it doesn t really satisfy him and his intimate relationship with
Rosalind made Amory feel

What Is The Theme Of The Poem We Are Hollow Men
5.1.3 Anaphora
Anaphorainvolves the repetition of identical words or phrases at the beginnings of consecutive stages
of the selected pattern. The repetition of the words helps to establish a marked rhythm in the sequence
of clauses, this scheme is usually reserved for those passages where the author wants to produce a
strong emotional effects. The poem contains the following anaphoric cases:
15. We are the hollow men
We are the stuffed men
16. Shape without form, shade without colour Paralyzed force, gesturewithoutmotion
17. This is the dead land
This is cactus land

The following instances from the poem are representative:
21. In the twilight kingdom
22. this is cactus land
The poet uses in (21) the word twilight as an adjective to describe the death kingdom that he does not
want to be closer. He uses it at the end of the part to indicate the reduction of the light that is fade, a
fading star, at the beginning of this part. In (22), the poet uses cactus as an adjective, making the land
desert like, desolate and dry like the voices and the grass in Part I. It is, of course, lacking in life.
5.2.2 Simile and Metaphor
Both the metaphor and the simile are related to the topic of similarity, for although the comparison is
made between two words of unlike nature. Metaphor gives clearness and liveliness to words. In
Hollow Men , the following cases are found:
23. our dried voices are quiet and meaningless
As wind in dry grass
Or rat s feet over broke glass
24. Remember us if at all not as lost
Violent souls, but only
As the hollow men

Gambling Legalization
Gerika Arthur
Professor McPhee
English 300 01
March 14, 2011
Gambling legalization for a promising future Gambling is the act of playing for stakes in the hope of
winning (including the payment of a price for a chance to win a prize). (Oxford dictionary) Many have
their own opinions about gambling and at this time gambling is not legally practiced here in The
Bahamas. Such a move would bring an end to an illicit industry that makes tens of millions of dollars
a year and which employs hundreds; but which contributes little to the general good of the Bahamian
people. (The Bahama Journal 2008). There are many aspects of gambling that can indeed be looked
upon positively. Gambling comes in many forms, including betting in casinos, ... Show more content

Therefore all of the foreigners that are here now using our casinos and going back with everything,
would have to leave that twenty five percent tax fee for the government.
Legalizing gambling would also lead to a decrease in the unemployment rate. In an article entitled
Gambling Entertainment , it states that The large percentage of employment provided by the
Gambling industry, including the land based casinos as well as the Online casinos, puts gambling
industry on the top of society chart straight away. Having gambling legalized would automatically
mean that employment will increase. At present Gambling is in the underground economy mark when
it comes to calculating the unemployment rate. Since it s illegal workers are considered to be
employed, however legally they re counted as unemployed when it comes to the unemployment rate.
In an article written by Olivia Saunders, Saunders illustrated the unemployment rate in a diagram that
showed an unemployment rate of 7.8 percent. Out of this 7.8 percent count are the people that are
already presently working for number houses, if we legalize gambling that rate would automatically
decrease.
Many are lead to believe that legalizing gambling won t decrease the unemployment rate, because
there are already a substantial amount of lottery houses opened already and there are still many
unemployed, it s impossible for this to help our unemployed, and even if it does, it won t completely

It was the first day of fall in Collinsville, Illinois and the leaves were gently falling to the ground. The
house was filled with lots of noise and the kids wanted to go outside and play in the leaves, but they
couldn t play in the leaves until they ate lunch. It was the perfect day to play outside. They finished
eating and ran out to enjoy the weather. They played in the leaves as long as they could until they
found a snake in their leaf pile. The kids screamed in terror but the snake just slithered away with its
tongue hanging out and hissing at the kids. It started to get dark and the the kids still played outside
until the kids heard the creepy coyotes howling in the dark woods.
Sarah ran inside and hid under her bed. John ran as fast as a lighting bolt to the door. Jim just stood
outside until more coyotes came out the woods and he was inside in a second. The kids were all

Once he got to the barn, he shut the barn door and climbed the ladder to the second floor. Meanwhile,
the whole family was sound asleep. He heard the coyotes scratching at the door and he got worried.
What if they tear a hole in the door and get through? He thought he would have to stay there the whole

Ban The Use Of Guns By Civilians
Pierce Hodges Mrs. Desanto Research paper Feb 9, 2015 A Call to Ban the use of Guns by Civilians
Dwight D. Eisenhower once said, Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired,
signifies in the final sense a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are
not clothed. (citation) Guns are a major source of crisis in our nation today, and as President
Eisenhower speaks to in this quote, firearms take something away from society. We are supposed to be
a peaceful and civilized nation, but because of guns, we are becoming a violent nation and a disaster.
Many think that those who are negatively affected by guns are only inner city teens and young adults.
This was proven to be untrue by the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In that same situation, with no gun around, there is a much less chance of someone being severely
injured or killed. Many people suggest securing schools more by doing things like locking all doors,
bullet proof vestibules, mandatory ID and background checks, and even microchips monitoring people
s whereabouts in the school. All of these things may help, but the problem is much bigger than the
schools. The problem is in the access to guns that our laws allow. The use of guns by civilians should
be banned because, the statistics show that the more guns, the more chance for violence. The military
and law enforcement should be the only ones legally allowed to carry guns. When our forefathers
drafted the Bill of Rights with the Second Amendment protecting the individual right to possess
firearms, the society and the motive was different. it was a limited right and they left some authority
over it to the government. The government is able to limit this, so seeing how guns are negatively
affecting our society, they should use their power. There is no reason why so many people, living in
what is supposed to be a peaceful society, possess guns. About 16,272 murders were committed in the
United States during 2014. Of these, about 10,886, or 67%, were committed with firearms. A
nationwide survey of 4,977 households found that over the previous five years, at least 0.5% of
households had members who had used a gun for defense during a

Gold Mining in Australia
When did gold mining begin in Australia? Gold has been rumoured that it was found in Australian as
early as 1814, however, the first gold fields did not appear until thirty years later. Gold was found in
Australia many decades before the Goldrush. The first discovery of gold was actually in New South
Wales, in May 1851 by Edward Hargreaves. In fact, this was a tentative start to the Goldrush. Gold
was commonly found only in New South Wales and Victoria in the days. How was gold mined? (Now
and then) Well, long time ago it actually wasn t mined, it was panned. You had to search and find the
right river to find gold. Then you pick a spot along the river or stream with a slow current and a spot
that has large rocks or a fallen tree along the water s edge. Than you pick up your pan (metal in the
day). Then dirt and gravel in scooped into the pan and then submerged into the water. The dirt and
gravel will float, and because gold is heavier and denser it will say in the pan. This process uses the
density of gold and the force of gravity to separate gold particles from other sedimentary deposits.
Another common way in the day was sluicing. The water washes down fine gravel containing gold so
that it can be directed into sluice boxes and recovered using gravity separation (where the heavy gold
is trapped at the bottom and the lighter sands are washed away). The world has advanced and
developed numerously. More sophisticated techniques have been developed for gold to be found

Cournot Model In Oligopoly Market
There are 3 theories of economics will be discussed in this chapter. These theories of economics will
be discussed are Cournot Model in Oligopoly Market, Prisoner Dilemma in Game Theory and XXX.
First of all, I will discuss what is Oligopoly Market and Cournot Model in Oligopoly Market. Besides
that, these theories were applied during my internship program in Brunsfield Trading Sdn Bhd.
3.1.1 Cournot Model in Oligopoly Market
Oligopoly market is a market which have only few firms compete with one another. The products of
oligopoly market might or might not differentiated such as automobile is differentiated and steel is not
differentiated. There are barriers for new firms to enter oligopoly market. Examples of oligopolistic
industries are steel, aluminium, petrochemical, automobiles and computers. Some of the reasons for
barriers to entry arise in oligopolistic industries such as scale economics, patents or access to a

Rap Music Analysis

and everyone. When you hear something or feel something that clicks in your brain so much that you
can remember it and turn that little echo of sound into something radically different that is
breathtaking and true art. Some people can completely make a beat into something new and something
you have never heard. These are the real artist that can warp a piece of sound into something that can

makes me think about the past life and the struggles I have gone through and the stuff I have seen. I

rap music they will mostly have the same emotional make up the same mindset or even an event in
their life which makes them relate to rap music. The people that relate to the same type of music I feel
like it is easier to get along with and the things you say makes sense to them. The topic of music is the
most interesting thing to me. It fascinates me as you can tell if I can write a 2,000 word paper just on

The War Against Boys By Christina Sommers
The Fight is on The alarm clock rang three consecutive times, as the young man remained in bed,
paying no attention to the alarm, and continued to lie asleep. His first class already starting, he decides
not to attend, but instead dozes off wasting the day. This was just another typical day for my father
back then. As a teen my dad always skipped out on classes whenever he got the chance to. He was the
type to always fool around, and never took school seriously. At the age of 12 he basically raised
himself, ever since his parents gave him up for adoption. Always moving from family to family, and
having to interchange schools several times, he grew tired and became irritable to the point where he
no longer had interest for an education.
With no one supporting him, he found it useless to pursue in his studies and spent most of time
rebelling. Based on my father s educational experiences, somehow I found it relatable to the boys in
Christina Sommers article The war against boys . Just like in my father story, they could ve been
facing the same scenario, which led them to plummet in their grades. According to Sommer s, article
some feminists believe that girls are still at a disadvantage, when compared to boys. They argue that
boys still uphold the position at the top. In reality, most of the girls have already surpassed that point

In our world today people are ignorant. Humans use their imagination too much and their brain too little. Also, people don t do anything to solve their problems because we think nothing could go wrong, we expect others do fix everything. That is where we re wrong. Today lots of people are saying the world won t reach a carrying capacity, but I disagree. I think the world will reach its carrying capacity before 2100. This will happen for many reasons: Natural Disasters, Wars, too little ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This means that a lot of people are not getting the stuff they need. The rates of people who don t get enough to eat is skyrocketing. People are becoming homeless because of competition on jobs and much more. Everything is getting more expensive and some people can t afford what they need. The website worldhunger.org tells us about how there is enough food on this earth for everyone to get a good meal. We have: Tornadoes, Tsunamis, Volcano Eruptions, Earthquakes, Hurricanes, Monsoons and much more. Global Warming has affected us too. Lots of things effect on us, but it s not the effect it has, but how it affects our ability to get over it. When a big tornado hits and kills a lot of people, what do we do? We let it get a hold on us; fear takes over and we scramble for our only chance hope. We hide. So after a big storm happens and lots of people are killed we still don t do the big thing. We don t help. Some people like the Red Cross and other Organizations, help the people in need, but a lot of people still stay in their cushy lives. They don t help them. If we can t help them over the inevitable, than how can we help them with things we can ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Giannetti divides this theoretical study into four different types of film history: aesthetic, technological, economic, and social. The audience and Mrs Pomeroy know who is right, but are powerless to change anything, creating a feeling of isolation. A sense of irony is created as the most honest people in the film are labelled as mentally unstable (Donnie is diagnosed with schizophrenia) or, in Ms Pomeroy s case, unsuitable figures of authority, whereas characters such as Jim Cunningham, while famous and respected are revealed as false (Donnie burns down Jim s house to expose a kiddie porn dungeon ). • 10. Marx and Durkheim’s Views Contributed to our Understanding... How have Marx and Durkheim s Views Contributed to our Understanding of Crime and Deviance? Karl Marx s Marxist theory and Emile Durkheim s functionalist theory were both significant in their own ways and therefore made a large contribution to our perception and understanding of how crime and deviance occurs and is dealt with in society. The Marxist theory on crime was focused on the concept that the huge shift towards a capitalist society was the root cause and driving force behind the formation of social divisions and subsequent increase in crime and conflict. Willem Bonger expanded on the Marxist theory by explaining that the capitalist shifts lead the law to focus on the proletariat divisions as the deviant members of society, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He believed that the presence of deviance in society allows moral borders and boundaries to be structured around social assumptions of deviant behaviours and what s considered right and wrong. The subsequent responses to these types of behaviours promote social unity and encourage social change. David Downes and Paul Rock proposed that crime should be viewed and a necessary factor that is a healthy social phenomenon in societies. This shows that Durkheim sparked the recognition that crime should be viewed as a healthy normality at sensible levels, rather than is being viewed as a solely negative factor that brings society down. Crime and deviance is supposedly is key to regularity in society, it provides a huge amount of public understanding and social acceptance to the existence of crime. In doing this Durkheim allowed a new understanding that crime was something not to be assumed as something that should be feared within society because it is in actual fact A normal product of stable institutions . This was an entirely new and innovative concept at the time of the theory of functionalisms introduction, people lived in fear of crime and people who possess deviant characteristics. Neo Durkheimian theories have also been extremely helpful in explanations of how we understand Durkheim s theory of functionalism and how it s been incorporated it in to today s society. Tatum calls this White privilege. . Everyone can be prejudice, but only the dominant race can be racist. I have such a strong desire to say the right thing and justify myself as someone who does not agree with most of our country s institutions. Tatum argues that it is difficult to talk about what is essentially a flawed and problematic social construct without using language that is in itself problematic. . The language that is...problematic comes in the form of euphemisms. The more words used to describe a certain social construct, the more likely there is an underlying problem that needs to be solved. The underlying problem is the tension between past actions, present guilt, and future expectations. White privilege is a truth, but along with being on the VIP list of most institutions in this country, Whites are also burdened with guilt. There needs to be some way that the problem of racism can be addressed without pointing fingers. I think a way to circumvent the guilt is to speak of grander renovations, such as legislative or educational reforms. Perhaps then, the finger, which must be pointed in order for change to occur, will land on a larger problem with society, our institutions. Even though Tatum is blunt about Whites being the proprietors of racism, she does not exclude us from the fight for change, banishing us to sulk in our nostalgic guilt. In fact, we, the people with an in to our country s many institutions, have a very large responsibility to become active in the fight against racism. Tatum argues that the reason that Whites ... His use of similes add deeper imagery and to emphasize certain descriptions that are necessary to understand in his distinctive writing style. Fitzgerald incorporated a lot of his own personal life into his works; his struggles with alcoholism, mental disorders and marital problems are generally thrown into almost all his novels. Many of his stories can be read for their symbolic qualities. Therefore, F. Scott Fitzgerald was popular for using uncommon and intricate descriptions to help the reader better grasp what is going on in the story. When F. Scott Fitzgerald was twenty three, he published his first novel This Side of Paradise which tells the life of Amory Blaine from his childhood to his young adulthood who travels out to New England to attend a boarding school and, later on, Princeton. This type of novel is known in the literary world as a Bildungsroman which is a novel of personal and moral formation. Fitzgerald demonstrates his unique voice and style and even includes poetry and theater within the work (Quiklit). At the beginning of the story, Amory acts like a selfish and spoiled child. But as he gets older, he becomes aware of his over inflated ego and begins to ponder on how he could become a better person. He tries religion but it doesn t really satisfy him and his intimate relationship with Rosalind made Amory feel ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Gambling Legalization Gerika Arthur Professor McPhee English 300 01 March 14, 2011 Gambling legalization for a promising future Gambling is the act of playing for stakes in the hope of winning (including the payment of a price for a chance to win a prize). (Oxford dictionary) Many have their own opinions about gambling and at this time gambling is not legally practiced here in The Bahamas. Such a move would bring an end to an illicit industry that makes tens of millions of dollars a year and which employs hundreds; but which contributes little to the general good of the Bahamian people. Having gambling legalized would automatically mean that employment will increase. At present Gambling is in the underground economy mark when it comes to calculating the unemployment rate. Since it s illegal workers are considered to be employed, however legally they re counted as unemployed when it comes to the unemployment rate. In an article written by Olivia Saunders, Saunders illustrated the unemployment rate in a diagram that showed an unemployment rate of 7.8 percent. Out of this 7.8 percent count are the people that are already presently working for number houses, if we legalize gambling that rate would automatically decrease. Many are lead to believe that legalizing gambling won t decrease the unemployment rate, because there are already a substantial amount of lottery houses opened already and there are still many unemployed, it s impossible for this to help our unemployed, and even if it does, it won t completely take care ... The house was filled with lots of noise and the kids wanted to go outside and play in the leaves, but they couldn t play in the leaves until they ate lunch. It was the perfect day to play outside. They finished eating and ran out to enjoy the weather. They played in the leaves as long as they could until they found a snake in their leaf pile. The kids screamed in terror but the snake just slithered away with its tongue hanging out and hissing at the kids. It started to get dark and the the kids still played outside until the kids heard the creepy coyotes howling in the dark woods. Sarah ran inside and hid under her bed. • 30. Ban The Use Of Guns By Civilians Pierce Hodges Mrs. Desanto Research paper Feb 9, 2015 A Call to Ban the use of Guns by Civilians Dwight D. Eisenhower once said, Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired, signifies in the final sense a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed. (citation) Guns are a major source of crisis in our nation today, and as President Eisenhower speaks to in this quote, firearms take something away from society. We are supposed to be a peaceful and civilized nation, but because of guns, we are becoming a violent nation and a disaster. Many think that those who are negatively affected by guns are only inner city teens and young adults. This was proven to be untrue by the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In that same situation, with no gun around, there is a much less chance of someone being severely injured or killed. Many people suggest securing schools more by doing things like locking all doors, bullet proof vestibules, mandatory ID and background checks, and even microchips monitoring people s whereabouts in the school. All of these things may help, but the problem is much bigger than the schools. The problem is in the access to guns that our laws allow. The use of guns by civilians should be banned because, the statistics show that the more guns, the more chance for violence. The military and law enforcement should be the only ones legally allowed to carry guns. When our forefathers drafted the Bill of Rights with the Second Amendment protecting the individual right to possess firearms, the society and the motive was different. it was a limited right and they left some authority over it to the government. The government is able to limit this, so seeing how guns are negatively affecting our society, they should use their power. There is no reason why so many people, living in what is supposed to be a peaceful society, possess guns. About 16,272 murders were committed in the United States during 2014. Of these, about 10,886, or 67%, were committed with firearms. • 31. Gold Mining in Australia When did gold mining begin in Australia? Gold has been rumoured that it was found in Australian as early as 1814, however, the first gold fields did not appear until thirty years later. Gold was found in Australia many decades before the Goldrush. The first discovery of gold was actually in New South Wales, in May 1851 by Edward Hargreaves. In fact, this was a tentative start to the Goldrush. Gold was commonly found only in New South Wales and Victoria in the days. How was gold mined? (Now and then) Well, long time ago it actually wasn t mined, it was panned. You had to search and find the right river to find gold. Then you pick a spot along the river or stream with a slow current and a spot that has large rocks or a fallen tree along the water s edge. Than you pick up your pan (metal in the day). Then dirt and gravel in scooped into the pan and then submerged into the water. The dirt and gravel will float, and because gold is heavier and denser it will say in the pan. This process uses the density of gold and the force of gravity to separate gold particles from other sedimentary deposits. Another common way in the day was sluicing. The water washes down fine gravel containing gold so that it can be directed into sluice boxes and recovered using gravity separation (where the heavy gold is trapped at the bottom and the lighter sands are washed away). The world has advanced and developed numerously. More sophisticated techniques have been developed for gold to be found ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 37. The War Against Boys By Christina Sommers The Fight is on The alarm clock rang three consecutive times, as the young man remained in bed, paying no attention to the alarm, and continued to lie asleep. His first class already starting, he decides not to attend, but instead dozes off wasting the day. This was just another typical day for my father back then. As a teen my dad always skipped out on classes whenever he got the chance to. He was the type to always fool around, and never took school seriously. At the age of 12 he basically raised himself, ever since his parents gave him up for adoption. Always moving from family to family, and having to interchange schools several times, he grew tired and became irritable to the point where he no longer had interest for an education. With no one supporting him, he found it useless to pursue in his studies and spent most of time rebelling. Based on my father s educational experiences, somehow I found it relatable to the boys in Christina Sommers article The war against boys . Just like in my father story, they could ve been facing the same scenario, which led them to plummet in their grades. According to Sommer s, article some feminists believe that girls are still at a disadvantage, when compared to boys. They argue that boys still uphold the position at the top. In reality, most of the girls have already surpassed that point and are exceling quickly. If they continue this, most girls have a higher probability in outpacing boys in academics; however there is still a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
