The Moral Issue Of Vivisection
Paige Simone English Research Skills Atrocities are not less atrocities when they occur in laboratories
and are called medical research. ~George Bernard Shaw (1856 1950) Introduction The everyday
products we use such as toothpaste, makeup, and medicines have more than likely been tested on an
animal in a laboratory before being available for human consumption. These animals suffer greatly
and live lives of isolation and torture. They endure cruel treatment all in the name of scientific
research. Many people believe that these tests are necessary to discover cures for human illnesses.
This is simply not the case. There is a large amount of research that indicates that animal experiments
often lacks validity and do not stand up when transferred to human beings. In addition, the moral issue
of vivisection is one that we must all struggle with as human beings. Mohandas Gandhi said I abhor
vivisection with my whole soul. All the scientific discoveries stained with innocent blood I count as of
no consequence. and To my mind the life of a lamb is no less precious than that of a human being. I
should be unwilling to take the life of a lamb for the sake of the human body. I hold that, the more
helpless a creature, the more entitled it is to the protection by man from the cruelty of man. Scientists
and all human beings alike have an obligation to develop alternative methods of testing drugs and
products that do not harm animals. Paige Simone English Research Skills

Ancient China s Trade And Economy
Ancient China s Trade and Economy
From as early as 2100 BCE to as late as 1912 CE, China lived and prospered in the period of the
dynasties (Timeline of Chinese History and Dynasties). The dynastic period included successions of
rulers who usually descended from the same family. After the ruler passed away, their successor took
their preceder s sole reigning position of emperor. The Xia Dynasty started the period of the dynasties
in 2100 BCE. (Timeline of Chinese History and Dynasties). The Qing Dynasty marked the end of the
dynastic period in 1912 CE (Timeline of Chinese History and Dynasties). In between the first and last
dynasties, China experienced a time of economic, social, environmental, and religious growth that
affected all of the people of China. Traders and merchants that traveled the Chinese trading systems
tremendously contributed to the amplification of trade of goods, skills, ideas, customs, and messages.
Humans, most often slaves, built roads and canals such as the Silk Road and the Grand Canal across
and through mountains, deserts, and rivers to facilitate ways to connect with China s other surrounding
countries. During the dynastic period, China developed a strong and diverse economy and culture
through their unique and innovative trading routes, the Silk Road and the Grand Canal. Before the
creation of the Silk Road and the Grand Canal, The people in China lived in economical and cultural
isolation from other countries because of China s physical

Application for Master Degree in Theory and Computational...
In this ever changing world of computers, where computer systems grow more efficient, intelligent
and complex, I find the in depth study of computing concepts not only appealing but also
indispensable. As I move ahead in the future, I strongly desire for a program that would help me build
a comprehensive foundation in the field of Computer Science. Within this field, I have developed a
deep interest in the area of Theory and Computational Science. More specifically I find algorithms and
theory of computation the most appealing areas due to their application in solving many real world
problems.
My undergraduate course in the field of Electronics Engineering has given me a comprehensive
exposure to all the core fields of computer science ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The project was successfully implemented and demonstrated during our final presentation.
Throughout my professional career as a Java/J2EE Developer, I was involved in integrating diverse
Java web technologies to create highly qualified web applications. Primarily my responsibilities
included: Analyzing new business requirements, proposing technical solutions for design and
implementation, coding and testing. For the Global Protein Separation project, a web based
application for our client GE Healthcare at Tata Consultancy Services, I got the opportunity to work as
a Project Leader . I gained an understanding of the phases involved in developing a web application
from scratch. The purpose was to migrate the system which existed in Oracle Forms to a browser
based Java application incorporating new features and functional requirements.I was involved in
designing the web interface, implementing MVC architecture using Struts2 framework, integrating
security features and backend functionalities. As a project lead, I also exercised my managerial skills
including supervising audit, project management and delivery.
At Capgemini, I worked for our client, Morgan Stanley Investment Management as an Associate
Consultant for a web based system named Carry Incentive Plan . Here I learned about the field of
banking and financial services. It exposed me to wide range of terminologies used in investment
banking and their business. The project gave me an opportunity to

Bobby Croke Case Study
When people think of a national treasure , many will instantaneously name as many Nicholas Cage

Bobby Croke is one of UCF s finest Graduate Residence Coordinators(GRC) as well as the Greek
House Director for Theta Chi. With his new role in housing, not only has he taken on graduate school,
but he has also become one of the advisors for the Residence Hall Association. As a member of the

How To Go Sled
Once we got our snow gear on and closed the door to the porch, Emmi noticed a bird lying in the
snow. She examined it in her gloves and noticed it was struggling. We carried it to the playhouse
where it was warm and sat in the chairs, warming it up until we rested it on the rail, so it could fly
away when it was able. She saved it. Now we were off to go sled.
Every year, until now, we had a contest to see who could make it the farthest down the hill. Since we
wanted to win, all we would do is sled. We tried several strategies, like toboggans, circle sleds,
rectangle sleds, more people, less people. We tried literally everything. Then, we made a decision I
wish we never made. We decided to tie two sleds together.
Are we ready to go? Julian asked.
No, we are heading for that stump! ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I went inside with Julian and Ryan, took off my snow gear and laid down in the bed. I cried. I cried for
hours. I saw the clock go from 1 P.M. to 3 P.M. to 5 P.M..
During those four hours, my aunt and uncle came to check her out, my grandpa called 9 1 1, the fire
trucks came instead of the ambulance and finally the ambulance came. Hearing parts of the
conversations while you don t know if your cousin will survive is the worst way to pass time.
Once they got Emmi in the ambulance, I walked out and saw Eric, Ryan and Julian sharing their
thoughts on the accident. I made her a Get Well Soon card and we all decided we would go visit her
once she was okay. We thought she would be okay.
My mom came home from the hospital and told Eric to bring Julian there. I was jealous I didn t get to
see her. After they left, my mom sat Ryan and I down on the couch. The horrible news was about to be

God does his best to make everyone happy. But, Emmi didn t make it. Right there, right there I burst

Literary Analysis Of My Papa s Waltz By Theodore Roethke
The Good old Days While the subject of My Papa s Waltz by Theodore Roethke has spurred
passionate academic debate from professors, scholars, and students alike, the imagery, syntax, and
diction of the poem clearly support the interpretation that Roethke writes My Papa s Waltz to look
back on his most fondest childhood memories he has created of dancing with his father. In Roethke s
poem My Papa s Waltz , many forms of controversies were inspired do due to the vague nature of his
motive for writing and publishing such a work of literature. This divides the readers into many groups
on what is true meaning of the poem about with key points of evidence supporting their claims. Some
may believe Roethke was driven by his father abusing him as a child. Others were convinced into the
poem real meaning is about an elegant dance the author has a child and some believe it to be son
recalling the fond memories he creates with his father; Granted, many can come to such a conclusion
due to the vague use of negative connotations found within in the poem. Yet again, we are driven by
the large scheme of whether or not the poem has a positive or negative message of Roethke s
childhood memories. After further dissection of the author s piece it is firm to say that he his motive to
write My Papa s Waltz was direct. We can come to the solid conclusion of the author s poem was
written to reminisce about the memories he had as child that he created with his father with the most

The Final Legacy Of William The Conqueror, Leader Of The...
He ended with a BANG! That is the final legacy of William the Conqueror, leader of the Norman
invasion of Britain and victor at the iconic Battle of Hastings. When William died, he had developed a
bacterial infection in his stomach, which went unnoticed by the mortician. William was a rather heavy
man, and the coffin he was given was slightly small, so he was forced into the coffin even though he
did not fit. As the infection spread, gas began to build up in his gut, and, in the middle of his funeral
precession, the coffin burst, guts and stagnant blood flying all over the now shrieking crowd. But he is
remembered for far more impactful and even bloodier events (10). Although the Norman Conquest of
1066 was a year of much bloodshed, that year was pivotal to the nation of Great Britain as it helped to
establish the boarders and structure of the Kingdom of Great Britain, it contributed to the creation the
English dialect, and brought new political, social, and religious reforms to the region, each of which
stood to benefit the lands well being The year of 1066 C.E was a period of great reckoning, as the
events of the year s famous Norman invasion would shape the British Isles forever. Before the
invasion, England was ruled by a scheming King known as Edward the Confessor, who used his
childless marriage as a political tool. He promised his crown to several different people in his lifetime,

Comparing Perks Of Being A Wallflower And The Catcher In...
In both Steven Chbosky and J.D. Salinger s coming of age novels The Perks of Being a Wallflower
and The Catcher in the Rye both authors successfully explore the idea of entering adulthood as an
outsider. The Perks of Being a Wallflower follows a fifteen year old boy, Charlie. Charlie has recently
lost his best friend Michael to suicide and is struggling to come to terms with his death. He is in his
freshman year of high school and struggles to fit in socially, until he meets a group of seniors who
take him under their wing and introduce him to a world he could never imagine. Written in the form of
a series of letters to an anonymous recipient, Chbosky allows the audience to have an in depth
perception of Charlies mind and his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although the reader is never told who the letters are written to, Charlie starts each letter with Dear
Friend... . He states at the start of the novel that I am writing to you because she said you listen and
understand...Please don t try to figure out who she is because then you might figure out who I am, and
I really don t want you to do that... (1.3) whilst Charlie does not give the reader a clear explanation on
who this anonymous person may be; the audience can make the assumption that perhaps Charlie is
writing these letters to help him understand his feelings. Charlies raw and honest narration of the
problems he encounters, and his dark thoughts throughout his first year of high school allows the
reader to empathise with Charlie. This behaviour is often typical for high school aged students, as they
tend to find it easier to communicate with each other when it is not face to face. The emotions that
Charlie feels are also common for this age group, allowing the intended audience to relate to Charlie,
and engage with the narrative. Likewise, in The Catcher in the Rye first person perspective is used to
allow the reader to have direct access to the main protagonist: Holden s thoughts. Holden s honest
narration gives the reader a perspective into his world and the way he comprehends it. In Holden s
narration, Salinger uses a flashback of a momentous time of his life, when he spent three days and
nights by himself in New York City.

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Ordinary Portland Cement
General
Ordinary Portland cement (OPC) is most widely used cementitious material and is the second most
consumed resource in the world as it forms the basic ingredient in concrete and Bricklayer Joseph
Aspdin of Leeds, England first prepared Portland cement early in the 19th century by sweltering
powdered limestone and clay in his kitchen stove [13]; this laid the foundation for an industry to
develop a binder called ordinary Portland cement. The major applications of concrete in the
construction field such as infrastructure, habitation and transportation have greatly influenced in
affecting the economic progress by improving the stability and quality of life to a very wide extent.
However, inherent disadvantages are that production of Ordinary Portland cement (OPC) using raw
materials such as limestone and clay are depleting and quarrying of them is causing the source for
environmental degradation. OPC production involves a very high energy intensive and exothermic
process, as because it consumes 4Gj energy and produces about one ton of carbon dioxide, where it
significantly contributes to 5% of global carbon ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Disadvantages Of Home School Essay
There are so many advantages and disadvantages to home schooling, but is this really what you want

can be on a kid young or old. The effects it has on their life and health isn t worth it. When your kid(s)

According to Isabel Shaw of Family Education Homeschooled kids do well on standardized tests, are
welcome at colleges and universities, and as adults, have a reputation for being self directed learners

emotions but according to studies Homeschooled kids can dress and act and think the way they want,
without fear of ridicule or a need to fit in. They live in the real world, where lives aren t dictated by
adolescent trends and dangerous experimentation. What I want people to know is that bullying
happens in the real world and not just in movies, such as physical, mentally, and emotionally. This
could affect how a kid acts or how he does in school like for example, myself. When I got bullied I
was scared and tired a lot and didn t want to have any social interaction with others because of it. My
grades dropped and I figured I show look into home schooling. Now I never did home schooling but I
know some people that have because of dealing with what I had been through and became a new
person.
Busywork. We all dread the word and what it means. Work, school, and all that fun stuff. With no

Women Hollering Creek And The Boarding House Essay
What is a good relationship? Many people get asked this question every day and there are many
different answers. Throughout history love and lust has been a very interesting topic to write about or
in portraying in writings. Two stories that portray love in a different light, that are intriguing, is The
Boarding House by James Joyce and Women Hollering Creek by Sandra Cisneros. These so called
love stories main theme is disillusionment. The Boarding House and Women Hollering Creek both
have a conflict, thematic development, and the epiphanies.
The Boarding House is a story that starts off in the beginning with complications, but the main
conflict of the story is that Mrs. Mooney, Mr. Doran, and Polly all want different thing. Mrs. Mooney,
mother of Polly, want to find a husband for Polly. She wants to bring Polly out of the lower social
class and to find her a marriage that will not end in failure like Mrs. Mooney did. Polly also wants a

Economies of Scale
The largest single driving force behind mergers and acquisitions is probably economies of scale.
Economies of scale means that if you have a large company, you can leverage your suppliers. This is a
very powerful capability, and exercising it can be a strategic move for a company s operations. You
can save a tremendous amount of money on services such as health insurance we all know that health
insurance is extraordinarily expensive and getting more so every day. I know about the strategic
benefits of economies of scale from my personal experience of working as a consultant in a small
merger and acquisition in 2006 in which two failing private schools joined together to become one
successful entity. One of the major contributing factors for the success of this merger was that the
combined organization had more people who were buying health insurance; as a result, the health
insurance company substantially dropped their premiums because the risk was being spread across
more people. Large companies can also buy basic supplies such as paper, pencils, and paperclips less
expensively from suppliers when they buy in larger quantities. They simply get a

Nandina Research Paper
Nandina (Nandina domestica) is also known as heavenly bamboo, although it has no relation to the
bamboo plant. It takes the nickname from the fact that its foliage bears an uncanny resemblance to that
of bamboo plants. Found in United States Department of Agriculture plant hardiness zones 6 through
9, nandina is a woody shrub with year round interest. It bears flowers in the spring and berries in the
fall when its foliage turns red, gold and orange. In warmer climates it is evergreen. One of the most
important aspects of nandina care is annual pruning. Time Frame Nandina produces flowers in late
spring or summer, which make way for green berries. These ripen to a striking red color in autumn
and remain on the plant throughout fall and sometimes through winter. While spring pruning is
appropriate for many shrubs, if you prune the nandina too late in the spring, you run the risk of not
having berries the following season. The ideal time to prune is in late winter or early spring. Tools ...

lopping shears. Always disinfect your pruning tools by wiping them down with alcohol before using
them. Failure to do so may spread plant diseases. Strategy When you prune the nandina, you set the
stage for the following season s growth. Prune one third of the stems, spaced randomly around the
nandina, to the soil. Prune another one third of the stems down to one half the shrub s height. Allow
the final third of the stems to remain unpruned. This staggered effect will show off next season s

Essay on Ignorance in 12 Angry Men
Twelve Angry Men, is a play written by Reginald Rose. The play is about the process of individuals
and a court case, which is determining the fate of a teenager. It presents the themes of justice,
independence and ignorance. Rose emphasises these three themes through the characters and the
dialogue. Justice is the principle of moral rightness or equity. This is shown through juror number
eight who isn t sure whether or not the boy is actually innocent or guilty, but he persists to ask
questions and convinces the other jurors to think about the facts first. Independence is shown through
both juror number three and ten. They both believe that the defendant is guilty until they both realise

He says For this kid? You bet I d pull the switch juror eight then calls him a self appointed public
avenger which stuns juror number three.
Justice is the most important theme throughout this play. It proves that truth can t be found without a
struggle. In the play there was only one juror wanting to hear all the evidence in the court case. But
when more facts were found out then some of the other jurors wanted to hear the rest of it, which
would determine whether the defendant was guilty or not guilty. No one really knew if the boy was
guilty but or not but they figured out that he was not given a fair trial. The defence barrister didn t care
because he wasn t getting paid enough money to care. So that s what the jurors thought it was up to
them then, to repay the boy with justice.
Juror number three is an arrogant, self minded and extremely ambiguous has had a personal
experience in his life, that s why he wants the boy dead. His son ran away from a fight when he was
nine. I saw him. I was so ashamed I almost threw up. Then when he was older the boy then hit him in
the face and he has never seen him since. This puts a pre judged view inside of his head. In the end he
thinks to himself that it is not his son that is on trial therefore he can not treat him like that. He can t
hate all teenagers because of his son. Juror number ten is similar to number three in

The governments of the interregnum failed to find an acceptable settlement predominantly due the
power vacuum which was left by the King when he was executed. This wasn t helped by the lack of
legitimacy of the regicide where only 59 MP s signed Charles death warrant. However one could
argue that Oliver Cromwell, Parliament and The New Model Army s want and desire for more power
also led to the failure to find an acceptable settlement.
After Charles was executed several political problems arose because there was no direction of

schizophrenic (Worden). Furthermore division was made worse by Oliver Cromwell (Worden) which
is seen with the fluctuation of Cromwell s views between 1649 58, beginning with the dissolution of
the Rump Parliament, because he favoured the Nominated Assembly, devised by fifth monarchist
Thomas Harrison, however the Assembly was named the Barebones Parliament. Despite Cromwell
initially siding with a Godly rule (Smith), he reverted back to the regime to protect tradition, helped by
Lambert who ended the Barebones Parliament due to the fear of the increasing power of religious
radicals. Therefore, it was the indecisive nature of Oliver Cromwell that led to the failure in
attempting to create an acceptable settlement in politics and religion.
Religious radicalism was fundamentally linked politics. Following Civil War in 1642, religious
radicalism evolved due to the collapse of censorship and the Church of England which brought social
upheaval across England, making it increasingly difficult for Cromwell to achieve an acceptable
settlement. The less influential groups amongst society were the Diggers and Fifth Monarchists who
believed that

A Study Area Is The Region Of The U.s. Lake
A study area is the region of the U.S. Lake States, including Michigan, Minnesota, and Wisconsin. In
the region, about 27% of the estimated 20.8 million people reside in rural areas. Over 96% of the lands
are considered as rural areas. Traditionally, the region had economically dependent on natural resource
extraction and related low skill manufacturing industries (Hamilton et al., 2008). However, such
industries are recently weakened by globalization and rising policies on protection of natural
resources. Consequently, tourism based industries that depend on managed public lands not only
protecting natural resources, but also providing recreational opportunities have been considered as
important alternatives for local economic growth. Thus, an investigation of the relative impacts of
economic structures on income distribution can broaden our understanding of the role of each
economic industry in the distributional aspects of gateway communities.
There is no definitive way to define the gateway communities. In this study, I partly follow a method
for Sphere of Influence of gateway communities suggested by the M3West study (Hester, 2013). He
used a travel distance that is measured by predefined buffer distance for recreational commuting from
gateway communities to public lands. Thus, I first collect public land data (see figure 1). Then, I use a
sensitivity analysis to select an appropriate travel distance for recreational commuting based on 5, 10,
and 15 mile buffer. From

Why I Support For The Secdef
The unwritten rule when partaking in discussions professionally is to avoid matters that cover religion
and politics. Many people care very deeply about religion and/or politics, and many factors have
contributed to these passionate opinions. The bottom line is when talking about these topics, focus and
effort are diverted from what is most important in a professional environment. In the military, the
same dynamic can and has been observed in units across the country. The military is a melting pot of
culture, religion, and political opinions with individuals who care deeply about them. Presidential
campaigns summate most of these topics in one discussion. Most conversations start with, Who do
you support and why? . The why, is where most heated debates begin. Today, more pressure than ever
has been placed on service members to comment on presidential campaigns. In addition, more
avenues to comment are now available. In my paper, I will explain why support for the SECDEF is
crucial to help service members remain focused and the united states military to function more
effectively without political influence. Social media is something almost every American citizen
participates in, in today s society. Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Tumblr, Pinterest, LinkedIn,
Snapchat, and countless other examples of social media exist and in each someone can communicate
with the world if he or she pleases. For example, Facebook currently has 1.71 billion users according

Argumentative Essay Rescuers Casak
Although during World War II, a strong case of bystanders is seen, there were also cases of rescuers
who came to the aid of the innocent victims. The rescuers saved thousands of innocent lives, however
in total their number was minute compared to the millions of people who died. Rescuers ranged from
people such as nannies and peasants, to doctors, police officers, and social workers. They came from
nations such as Ukraine, Poland, Germany, France, Hungary, Denmark, Italy, Greece, Belgium, etc.
They decided to not view the Jews as rivals, or to alienate them, but instead to stand up for them and
view them as human beings. Rescuers strongly believed that one person could truly make a difference.

unbearable and decided to join the Resistance. In 1942, Spaak presented her assistance to the
underground National Movement Against Racism (MNCR). Spaak did not flinch from any task; she
went all over Paris to discover a hospital eager to accept ill Jews hiding under artificial names. When

Rockstar Logos
Rockstar is a song by Post Malone released in 2017. The song is about how rappers the current
generation of rock stars because of their growing popularity. The song consists of famous rock star
moments in history to show how similar they are to what is happening to rappers currently. I think the
purpose of the song is mostly for entertainment, however I think that there is a hidden message about
how he is starting to go down the road of being a rock star. It is not entirely pleasant however, because
it can be full of drugs and death for certain individuals. The song Rockstar by Post Malone uses ethos,
pathos, and logos as persuasive tools to push the message that rappers are the new rock stars of this

This is logos because it uses historic events. People are persuaded by this because of the idea that
history repeats itself. People are more open to something when they know that is has happened before,
so by using history, he can get people to take him seriously.
It uses ethos because the song mentions famous rock star who the listeners could identify with if they
were fans of them. The line Rest in peace to Bon Scott is a tribute to the lead singer of ACDC who
died of alcohol poisoning. She ask me light a fire like I m Morrison is about Jim Morrison, who was in
the band The Doors, who s most popular song was Light a Fire. It even brings up a book called I m
With the Band by $#$#2$#$#. Which is about the life of a rock band groupie.
It uses pathos in one of the songs advertising schemes. Hs recording company, Republic Records,
posted a YouTube video of a 3 minute long loop of the chorus instead of the actual song. Since the
chorus was catchy, it leads people to keep listening and look up the actual song. It used the emotion of
a catchy beat to get people curious about the song, kind of like a trailer for a movie. This combined
with the media coverage it received because of it created a lot of views. This lead it to debut at number

Franco-Prussian War Research Paper
Prussia s Instigation of the Franco Prussian War The Franco Prussian War was fought between France
and Prussia from 1870 into 1871. The circumstances leading into the war were contentious with
Prince Leopold receiving candidacy for the Spanish throne, but did not present a situation in which
war was imminent. Hostilities between the two nations were minimal until July of 1870 when a series
of events prompted the war to commence on the 19th when France declared war on Prussia. What or
who provided this catalytic evolution of tensions between France and Prussia? Two significant
political leaders lead France headlong into the Franco Prussian war, Antoine Agénor Alfred the Duke

Needless to say that to do business in the current globalized economy, business partners need to
communicate effectively in a given language. But communication requires much more than a solid
knowledge of a language. Becoming communicatively competent in a foreign or second language
implies more than being able to speak fluently and accurately. Being communicatively competent in a
language requires having not only good linguistic knowledge but also knowledge of the culture that is
beneath that language, the culture that this particular language reflects. When doing business in a
global context, the ability to communicate cross culturally is a must for the success of any enterprise.
Electronic Communications Ltd. (ECL) had decided to start business in China and to form a

New Forms And Models Of Church
In thinking about the potential for new forms and models of church, we must first articulate what the
goals are for this church as well as for the community. With respect to the church, one of the main
emphases at this time according to judicatory, is to care for the congregation. The second goal for the
church is to develop a new ministry plan that is more extensive than the previous plan. The third and
final goal is to organize work in the community. These goals will guide the possibilities for new forms
and models of church. Another aspect of this church that forms the discussion of the models and forms
of church is the idea that this is a Community church. [1] What this means is that this is a church that

While as the case mentions, this will evolve as time goes on, this congregation will begin on this goal
by intentional steps for the many different members to get to know each other more deeply in order to
become a community. This could be as simple as sitting with someone new in worship each week, or
sticking around for a few minutes after the service to talk to someone new. This begs the question, of
how will this intentional focus be initiated? It will be initiated by the pastors that rotate in the pulpit,
by the teaching and preaching on the focus of becoming a community and how this is important for
the congregation. For example, a sermon or sermon series could be on Paul s words in Corinthians
about the body[3] and how that understanding can be the fundamental for understanding what
community means in the congregation. In addition, there is also a form within the model of
community that is important. This form is a congregation that has Open hearts, open minds, open
doors. [4] What this form will look like is a church that is inviting and welcoming of all peoples either
already in the congregation or if they are new and come into the congregation. The bottom line is that
while of course, the pastors shall care for the congregation, especially in the ways

How Web 2.0 Has Forever Changed Online Communication And...
Web 2.0 has forever changed online communication and communication in general. Reddit has opened
up new ways to communicate and be a part of communities. These communities are now so integral to
our modern culture that they are used for more than just people discussing interests online. Reddit has

community activity. Filmmakers/television executives use these communities to monitor the fan base
of their respective media. They monitor these communities to look at fan feedback, to see what fans
like or dislike about the media they are associated with. This is common in television shows as
television executives need to know what fans are thinking about the show overall or the season
currently airing so they know what to improve on or what the fans want. An example of this is a
television executive for the television show Arrow . The executive Marc Guggenheim has an active
Tumblr and Reddit account and responds to comments on sub reddits and hosts AMA s (ask me

Securing the Castilian Throne Essay example
To suggest that Isabella was successful from the outset in securing the Castilian crown and the support
of its people would be a foolish interpretation. It took ten years before she was fully accepted as
rightful ruler, during which time a number of important factors developed that today can be seen as the
clearest reasons for her success. Paramount among these was her determined, intellectual and shrewd
personality and character. Without these traits, the other factors would have been irrelevant. In
October 1469, Isabella was married to Ferdinand of Aragon. What is interesting here is the terms of
the treaty drawn up after the ceremony that both of them signed. It claimed Isabella to be the rightful

In the early years of Ferdinand and Isabella s union, the advantages were firmly weighted in favour of
Castile. This is no great surprise as, after all, there was no problem with a succession in Aragon.
Influences that Ferdinand had over affairs concerning Castilian affairs most concerned the military. He
and his troops played a vital role in putting down rebellions in towns and cities. Men were supplied (in
line with the terms of the marriage contract) from Castile to help stave off and defeat the Portuguese
as well as supporters of Joanna Enriquez, who was Isabella s main rival to the throne. Because
Ferdinand played an important part in halting these problems, the union between Isabella and
Ferdinand, and the acquiescence that Ferdinand and Aragon showed them, can be seen to be a
significant contributor to Isabella s eventual victory in 1479. The fact that Ferdinand s presence was
not too overbearing helped keep grandees happy. They were important members of society. Isabella
needed their support and without it she would have struggled to retain popularity and secure her
throne. Therefore, before even becoming Queen, it was imperative that she had them on her side, away
from Joanna. Originally, only a few grandee families supported Isabella s cause. It was not until 1470,
four years before Isabella became Queen, that opinion switched. An important reason for

recent estimate of deaths caused by tobacco in Australia is for the financial year 2009 10. Tobacco use

Positive Benefits Of Service Learning
Community service involvement is generally seen as having a positive impact on adolescents by
counselors and educators, but it is important to identify potential issues with effective service learning.
(Middleton Kelly, 1996). One of the biggest issues stems from a lack of facilitation on the larger social
issues involved with community service. When there is a proper forum to discuss the experiences they
receive while volunteering, students are given a chance to understand how policies and civic
involvement play a direct role in the lives of people in their communities. (Lakin Mahoney, 2006).
Another issue is content involved in the community service activities. If teenagers are thrust into a
volunteer situation they don t understand or feel that they are simply being assigned made up work, it
can actually have a detrimental effect (Tugend, 2010). One way to make the most of volunteer
opportunities is to specifically design the content around areas of student development. By focusing
on key content areas, students learn how to use their current skill set to navigate new experiences and
difficult situations. (Lakin Mahoney, 2006).
A well organized and thoughtful volunteer opportunity has proven time and time again to be a positive
experience for youth. There are many studies that discuss the character building benefits of service
learning. Students who participate have higher academic achievements, develop critical thinking,
problem solving, decision making, planning

Q2. Explain the part played by external pressure in the fight against apartheid and minority rule in
South Africa.
From 1960 onwards, when Harold Macmillan made his change of winds speech, the world started to
place external pressures on South Africa, and this was one of the main causes of the end of apartheid.
Economic sanctions and sporting isolation were the two main subdivisions of external pressure.
Sporting isolation made South Africa realise that the minority rule and the apartheid regime was
greatly frowned upon by the rest of the world, and caused many Afrikaners to change their attitude to
the way the country was being run; this was because they didn t want to be excluded from the rest of
the world s competitions and tournaments solely for their governments issues; it made the Afrikaners
feel guilty for the regime ruling South Africa. This attitude would eventually help in ending the
apartheid regime.
Economic sanctions, however, were much more effective in the ending of minority rule. Foreign
countries saw South Africa as a risky country to invest in because the sanctions against South Africa
withdrew loans in businesses; businessmen found it harder to have prosperous companies

How Does The Valley Of Ashes Symbolize In The Great Gatsby
Symbolism appears in many forms of art including literature, music, and art. Symbols represent a
meaning that is not clearly stated by the author. The novel represents everyday objects and a location
that contributes to the story through the characters actions. The symbols do not directly affect the
characters however, they influence the characters action. The characters in The Great Gatsby mention
the items throughout the novel and describe how those connect to their actions. They represent many
of the character s stories as well as the development of the plot. Three symbols that are mentioned in

green light, the orgastic future that year by year recedes before us. It eluded us then, but that s no

green light is a goal that will disappear over time but will remain in the person s mind. On the
contrary, the light also represents the possibility to pursue a dream that one has made despite the

him. George acts as Lennie s guardian and has to watch everything Lennie does. Their relationship is
almost like a parental relationship, where George is the parent and Lennie is the child. George gives
all the care he can to Lennie. This is shown a couple of times throughout the novel. It is shown when
Lennie stops to drink water out of a pond of dirty water. Lennie, for God s sake don t drink so much..
you gonna be sick like you was last night , this quote is said by George and it shows that George is
worried about Lennie s health as he does not want him to feel sick. This indicates that George is
willing to take care of Lennie which shows the companionship between them. This clearly shows that
Lennie needs George because he is unable to take care of

The Legacy Of Bill Gates
Bill Gates was not always successful; in fact, he began as a failure. He dropped out of Harvard and
went bankrupt in the first business he started. That being said, he did eventually create Microsoft and
become a multi billionaire. Walt Disney was fired as a newspaper editor because he lacked
imagination and had no good ideas. He later went on to create the company known as Disney. Albert
Einstein did not begin speaking until he was four and did not know how to read until he was seven. He
was expelled from his first school and was refused admittance to the Zurich Polytechnic School.
Einstein later won the Nobel Prize for physics. All of these people persisted and achieved their goals,
when others would have given up if they were in their shoes. This goes to show that anyone can
achieve anything. Back in 10th grade, I found out about a sport known as rugby. I found this sport to
be intriguing, and I wanted to learn more about it, so I started watching videos and learning. Within a
month or two, I was completely hooked. I learned about a rugby team at Union and joined it. It is a
rough sport, but at the same time fun. All of it was living up to my dreams until one night, someone
tackled me. Now this guy was massive; he was almost twice my size in both height and weight, with
the majority of it consisting of muscle. I do not remember what happened exactly, but I remember that
I had the ball and was trying to score. This other guy came from the side and

Energy:
The Shard uses a CHP (combined heat and power) plant, which provides 1.131MW of electricity and
1.199MW of hot water at high efficiency to the surrounding area. The CHP system utilises waste heat
for heating and hot water. This system reduces carbon emissions and also contributes to low carbon
footprint of building. The Shards consumption will be more than 30% less than other comparable
buildings. There are significant cost savings for CHP versus separate purchase of electricity and gas
from national grid. This is an imperative factor, as for running such a large and dominant building in
the City of London it is essential that costs are kept to minimum to avoid corruption. It is also
recognisably a more healthy and efficient option for the environment.
(Image: Diagram of Power Plant Combined Heat and Power Efficiency, Ref:

The need for air conditioning in the Shard to eliminate an excessively heated environment from solar
energy is removed by computer controlled blinds. As extra white glass is used the G value is 0.55,
meaning 55% of the solar heat gets transmitted inside the building. This isn t appropriate for the
public as they ll suffer from the heat. However, with the blinds down there is 5% light transmittance
and thus the G value drops to only 0.12, which reduces solar

The Heart Of Road Construction Workers
The Heart of Road Construction Workers We all have driven by a construction zone or been a
passenger. Before you drive into a road construction zone you will see warning signs indicating that
you are approaching a specific work zone. Typically, these signs will say Three miles ahead work
zone, speed limit 55 and any injury to a worker you will be fined 10,000 dollars. Next, you will see
men and women working and others supervising. One of the construction workers will be holding a
sign to indicate to slow down, right on the side of the road saying slow down. Once you pass the
worker holding a sign to slow down, hopefully you can see others following the directions. All you
have to do is drive slow for a few miles and you will reach your ... Show more content on

The Hubbard s road construction company is the construction company I chose to observe and it is
designed to keep their hard working men and women safe, heathy, and their employee s happy. Each
employer of Hubbard team must watch and embrace a Zero Accident video. This video contains all the
knowledge you need to be safe while working on the construction site. Also what surprised me the
most about this video was the 30 minute section pertaining to sexual harassment prevention in the
work area. According to Frederick, the newest employee of Hubbard Road Construction Company,
you must really pay attention to the video and make the video apart of your life, and support
prevention as a way of life. Frederick explained that they are all responsible for each other s lives and
making sure that they are all safe. Frederick continued to explain that each month they have to watch
the Zero Accident safety video as a group. Hubbard s road construction company remains trying to
prevent accidents and also forcing their employees to take safety and sexual harassment seriously.
They are also currently trying to improve their Zero Accidents video according to the manger
Kimberly Rose. After watching the Zero Accident video I wondered why half of the video focused on
sexual harassment. So I decided to research sexual harassment in the construction industry and I found
a lot of shocking information. According to

Water In Horses
Clean water should always be available at all time. Horses will die within two to three days if they do
not have access to water. The amount of water needed by horses will greatly depend on the weather,
age and physical activity done by the horse. Proper nutrition is crucial for maximum horse health. To
ensure the wellbeing of horses, it is important to add pellets, salt and supplements to their diet. Not
only is proper nutrition necessary to fight illness, but it helps to build muscle and provide warmth.
Ideally, the feeding room should be located near to the stables. Air temperature should be kept
constant and should be waterproof. A scale as well as method or record keeping should also be kept in
the feeding storage. To reduce the risk of fire, the hay should be stored away from the main buildings.

The Rocking Horse-Horse Winner
In David Herbert Lawrence s short story, The Rocking Horse Winner, a boy sets out on a quest to look
for luck. His luck inevitably allows him to win money betting on horses. The money he has earned is
used in an effort to gain his mother s love. Although, he was left with was his mother s stone heart.
Lawrence displays that money doesn t buy happiness.
The question at issue in this short story is, does the protagonist, Paul, receive a sense of love,
satisfaction, and security with his single pursuit of money?
Some readers find that Paul does receive a sense of love, satisfaction, and security from his sole
pursuit of money. Religious literary critic, Charles Koban, believes that she loves Paul more than she
did her husband. If Hester truly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Paul states, Then what is luck mother? Its what causes you to have money. Thats why its better to be
born lucky than rich. If you re rich, you may lose your money. But if you re lucky, you will always get
more money. (Lawrence 593). It is Paul s understanding that it is luck that will make him rich. After
keeping his gambling a secret, he finally admits to his mother that he s been betting at the derby and
that he is lucky. His hard work was all for nothing. After he admits his winnings, she still doesn t
acknowledge the hard work he put in to satisfy her. When a person tries hard to accomplish something
and is shut down it leaves them devastated. It is Paul s quest and drive for his mother s love that
allows him to persist in the pursuit of money. I never told you, mother, that if I can ride my horse, and
get there, then I m absolutely sure oh, absolutely! Mother, did I ever tell you? I am lucky! No, you
never did, said his mother (Lawrence 602). The eighty thousand pounds he received from his last
betting was the price of Paul s death. Paul rocking back and forth furiously and anxiously symbolizes
that he was only a laborer for Hester. His labor working and anxiety was the cause of his

Understanding The Development Of Monotheism
Today, many people believe there is only one God. This belief in monotheism has not always been
understood in the way that modern believers understand it. In the early days of Israel, they believed
that there were many gods, though they could only worship their god, YHWH. Levenson looks at
Israel s past and development to see how monotheism developed. Did it develop from a belief in one
God, who is alone YHWH, or through a belief that YHWH is the one God above all other gods? This
question is key in understanding the development of monotheism in Israel. For example, one can see
how there could be two gods partaking in the flood narrative. The first god regrets making creation
while later in the story there is a change in the character in the god present to one who promises not to
bring about a flood again, even if humanity is evil. This shows how Israel acknowledged multiple
gods, though only worshipping YHWH. There are elements present in Israel s history that make both
the idea of the nation acknowledging other gods and them believing in monotheism. One example of
the belief in the plurality of gods, the first commandment of the ten: You shall no other god before me
Exodus 20:3. God could have made the commandment, I am your Lord, the only God . Thus one can
see how the Israelites believed in polytheism. However, this does not mean that the Israelites believed
the other gods were gods for they knew all power rested in the hands of YHWH. This is the beginning
of how

  • 2. The Moral Issue Of Vivisection Paige Simone English Research Skills Atrocities are not less atrocities when they occur in laboratories and are called medical research. ~George Bernard Shaw (1856 1950) Introduction The everyday products we use such as toothpaste, makeup, and medicines have more than likely been tested on an animal in a laboratory before being available for human consumption. These animals suffer greatly and live lives of isolation and torture. They endure cruel treatment all in the name of scientific research. Many people believe that these tests are necessary to discover cures for human illnesses. This is simply not the case. There is a large amount of research that indicates that animal experiments often lacks validity and do not stand up when transferred to human beings. In addition, the moral issue of vivisection is one that we must all struggle with as human beings. Mohandas Gandhi said I abhor vivisection with my whole soul. All the scientific discoveries stained with innocent blood I count as of no consequence. and To my mind the life of a lamb is no less precious than that of a human being. I should be unwilling to take the life of a lamb for the sake of the human body. I hold that, the more helpless a creature, the more entitled it is to the protection by man from the cruelty of man. Scientists and all human beings alike have an obligation to develop alternative methods of testing drugs and products that do not harm animals. Paige Simone English Research Skills ... We carried it to the playhouse where it was warm and sat in the chairs, warming it up until we rested it on the rail, so it could fly away when it was able. She saved it. Now we were off to go sled. Every year, until now, we had a contest to see who could make it the farthest down the hill. Since we wanted to win, all we would do is sled. We tried several strategies, like toboggans, circle sleds, rectangle sleds, more people, less people. We tried literally everything. Then, we made a decision I wish we never made. • 8. The Final Legacy Of William The Conqueror, Leader Of The... He ended with a BANG! That is the final legacy of William the Conqueror, leader of the Norman invasion of Britain and victor at the iconic Battle of Hastings. When William died, he had developed a bacterial infection in his stomach, which went unnoticed by the mortician. William was a rather heavy man, and the coffin he was given was slightly small, so he was forced into the coffin even though he did not fit. As the infection spread, gas began to build up in his gut, and, in the middle of his funeral precession, the coffin burst, guts and stagnant blood flying all over the now shrieking crowd. But he is remembered for far more impactful and even bloodier events (10). Although the Norman Conquest of 1066 was a year of much bloodshed, that year was pivotal to the nation of Great Britain as it helped to establish the boarders and structure of the Kingdom of Great Britain, it contributed to the creation the English dialect, and brought new political, social, and religious reforms to the region, each of which stood to benefit the lands well being The year of 1066 C.E was a period of great reckoning, as the events of the year s famous Norman invasion would shape the British Isles forever. (1.3) whilst Charlie does not give the reader a clear explanation on who this anonymous person may be; the audience can make the assumption that perhaps Charlie is writing these letters to help him understand his feelings. Charlies raw and honest narration of the problems he encounters, and his dark thoughts throughout his first year of high school allows the reader to empathise with Charlie. This behaviour is often typical for high school aged students, as they tend to find it easier to communicate with each other when it is not face to face. The emotions that Charlie feels are also common for this age group, allowing the intended audience to relate to Charlie, and engage with the narrative. Likewise, in The Catcher in the Rye first person perspective is used to allow the reader to have direct access to the main protagonist: Holden s thoughts. This is shown through juror number eight who isn t sure whether or not the boy is actually innocent or guilty, but he persists to ask questions and convinces the other jurors to think about the facts first. Justice is the most important theme throughout this play. It proves that truth can t be found without a struggle. In the play there was only one juror wanting to hear all the evidence in the court case. But when more facts were found out then some of the other jurors wanted to hear the rest of it, which would determine whether the defendant was guilty or not guilty. No one really knew if the boy was guilty but or not but they figured out that he was not given a fair trial. The defence barrister didn t care because he wasn t getting paid enough money to care. So that s what the jurors thought it was up to them then, to repay the boy with justice. Juror number three is an arrogant, self minded and extremely ambiguous has had a personal experience in his life, that s why he wants the boy dead. His son ran away from a fight when he was nine. I saw him. I was so ashamed I almost threw up. Then when he was older the boy then hit him in the face and he has never seen him since. This puts a pre judged view inside of his head. The governments of the interregnum failed to find an acceptable settlement predominantly due the power vacuum which was left by the King when he was executed. This wasn t helped by the lack of legitimacy of the regicide where only 59 MP s signed Charles death warrant. However one could argue that Oliver Cromwell, Parliament and The New Model Army s want and desire for more power also led to the failure to find an acceptable settlement. After Charles was executed several political problems arose because there was no direction of settlement due to the degree and nature of the reform. As a result of this, two sides formed, the army who were religious radicals and parliament, who were after a conservative settlement. The result of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example, the military wanted a radical religious reform, led by John Lambert, whereas the civilians (or parliament) wanted a more moderate, parliament endorsed regime, led by figures such as Lord Broghill. Therefore, Cromwell was a major source of division and was said to be an ideological schizophrenic (Worden). Furthermore division was made worse by Oliver Cromwell (Worden) which is seen with the fluctuation of Cromwell s views between 1649 58, beginning with the dissolution of the Rump Parliament, because he favoured the Nominated Assembly, devised by fifth monarchist Thomas Harrison, however the Assembly was named the Barebones Parliament. Despite Cromwell initially siding with a Godly rule (Smith), he reverted back to the regime to protect tradition, helped by Lambert who ended the Barebones Parliament due to the fear of the increasing power of religious radicals. Therefore, it was the indecisive nature of Oliver Cromwell that led to the failure in attempting to create an acceptable settlement in politics and religion. Religious radicalism was fundamentally linked politics. Following Civil War in 1642, religious radicalism evolved due to the collapse of censorship and the Church of England which brought social upheaval across England, making it increasingly difficult for Cromwell to achieve an acceptable settlement. In the region, about 27% of the estimated 20.8 million people reside in rural areas. Over 96% of the lands are considered as rural areas. Traditionally, the region had economically dependent on natural resource extraction and related low skill manufacturing industries (Hamilton et al., 2008). However, such industries are recently weakened by globalization and rising policies on protection of natural resources. Consequently, tourism based industries that depend on managed public lands not only protecting natural resources, but also providing recreational opportunities have been considered as important alternatives for local economic growth. Thus, an investigation of the relative impacts of economic structures on income distribution can broaden our understanding of the role of each economic industry in the distributional aspects of gateway communities. There is no definitive way to define the gateway communities. In this study, I partly follow a method for Sphere of Influence of gateway communities suggested by the M3West study (Hester, 2013). He used a travel distance that is measured by predefined buffer distance for recreational commuting from gateway communities to public lands. Thus, I first collect public land data (see figure 1). Then, I use a sensitivity analysis to select an appropriate travel distance for recreational commuting based on 5, 10, and 15 mile buffer. From ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Many people care very deeply about religion and/or politics, and many factors have contributed to these passionate opinions. The bottom line is when talking about these topics, focus and effort are diverted from what is most important in a professional environment. In the military, the same dynamic can and has been observed in units across the country. The military is a melting pot of culture, religion, and political opinions with individuals who care deeply about them. Presidential campaigns summate most of these topics in one discussion. Most conversations start with, Who do you support and why? . The why, is where most heated debates begin. Today, more pressure than ever has been placed on service members to comment on presidential campaigns. In addition, more avenues to comment are now available. Men were supplied (in line with the terms of the marriage contract) from Castile to help stave off and defeat the Portuguese as well as supporters of Joanna Enriquez, who was Isabella s main rival to the throne. Because Ferdinand played an important part in halting these problems, the union between Isabella and Ferdinand, and the acquiescence that Ferdinand and Aragon showed them, can be seen to be a significant contributor to Isabella s eventual victory in 1479. The fact that Ferdinand s presence was not too overbearing helped keep grandees happy. They were important members of society. • 39. Positive Benefits Of Service Learning Community service involvement is generally seen as having a positive impact on adolescents by counselors and educators, but it is important to identify potential issues with effective service learning. (Middleton Kelly, 1996). One of the biggest issues stems from a lack of facilitation on the larger social issues involved with community service. When there is a proper forum to discuss the experiences they receive while volunteering, students are given a chance to understand how policies and civic involvement play a direct role in the lives of people in their communities. (Lakin Mahoney, 2006). Another issue is content involved in the community service activities. If teenagers are thrust into a volunteer situation they don t understand or feel that they are simply being assigned made up work, it can actually have a detrimental effect (Tugend, 2010). One way to make the most of volunteer opportunities is to specifically design the content around areas of student development. By focusing on key content areas, students learn how to use their current skill set to navigate new experiences and difficult situations. (Lakin Mahoney, 2006). From 1960 onwards, when Harold Macmillan made his change of winds speech, the world started to place external pressures on South Africa, and this was one of the main causes of the end of apartheid. Economic sanctions and sporting isolation were the two main subdivisions of external pressure. Sporting isolation made South Africa realise that the minority rule and the apartheid regime was greatly frowned upon by the rest of the world, and caused many Afrikaners to change their attitude to the way the country was being run; this was because they didn t want to be excluded from the rest of the world s competitions and tournaments solely for their governments issues; it made the Afrikaners feel guilty for the regime ruling South Africa. The light is also mentioned along with Jay Gatsby, a character that Nick befriended in the novel. The green light is explained by Nick when he says, Gatsby believed in the green light, the orgastic future that year by year recedes before us. It eluded us then, but that s no matter to morrow we will run faster, stretch out our arms farther... (Fitzgerald 180). To explain, the green light is a goal that will disappear over time but will remain in the person s mind. On the contrary, the light also represents the possibility to pursue a dream that one has made despite the setbacks. This represents symbolism by having a light to represent a person s hopes and dreams in addition to pursuing a dream. The light does not directly represent a dream but rather the representation because of the distance and the devotion to reach towards the light. To conclude, the green light at the end of a dock s representation demonstrates the difficulty to achieve a goal and the devotion to obtain ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 43. The Legacy Of Bill Gates Bill Gates was not always successful; in fact, he began as a failure. He dropped out of Harvard and went bankrupt in the first business he started. That being said, he did eventually create Microsoft and become a multi billionaire. Walt Disney was fired as a newspaper editor because he lacked imagination and had no good ideas. He later went on to create the company known as Disney. Albert Einstein did not begin speaking until he was four and did not know how to read until he was seven. He was expelled from his first school and was refused admittance to the Zurich Polytechnic School. Einstein later won the Nobel Prize for physics. All of these people persisted and achieved their goals, when others would have given up if they were in their shoes. This goes to show that anyone can achieve anything. Back in 10th grade, I found out about a sport known as rugby. I found this sport to be intriguing, and I wanted to learn more about it, so I started watching videos and learning. Within a month or two, I was completely hooked. I learned about a rugby team at Union and joined it. It is a rough sport, but at the same time fun. All of it was living up to my dreams until one night, someone tackled me. Now this guy was massive; he was almost twice my size in both height and weight, with the majority of it consisting of muscle. I do not remember what happened exactly, but I remember that I had the ball and was trying to score. This other guy came from the side and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. Building Environment And Construction Environment Design... Ivan S M Hewitt. Introduction to Building Environment and Construction Environment Design Audit PART A. BUIL1166. Luke Olsen. Energy: The Shard uses a CHP (combined heat and power) plant, which provides 1.131MW of electricity and 1.199MW of hot water at high efficiency to the surrounding area. The CHP system utilises waste heat for heating and hot water. This system reduces carbon emissions and also contributes to low carbon footprint of building. The Shards consumption will be more than 30% less than other comparable buildings. There are significant cost savings for CHP versus separate purchase of electricity and gas from national grid. This is an imperative factor, as for running such a large and dominant building in the City of London it is essential that costs are kept to minimum to avoid corruption. It is also recognisably a more healthy and efficient option for the environment. (Image: Diagram of Power Plant Combined Heat and Power Efficiency, Ref: http://www.in.gov/oed/2414.htm) The need for air conditioning in the Shard to eliminate an excessively heated environment from solar energy is removed by computer controlled blinds. As extra white glass is used the G value is 0.55, meaning 55% of the solar heat gets transmitted inside the building. This isn t appropriate for the public as they ll suffer from the heat. However, with the blinds down there is 5% light transmittance and thus the G value drops to only 0.12, which reduces solar ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Each employer of Hubbard team must watch and embrace a Zero Accident video. This video contains all the knowledge you need to be safe while working on the construction site. Also what surprised me the most about this video was the 30 minute section pertaining to sexual harassment prevention in the work area. According to Frederick, the newest employee of Hubbard Road Construction Company, you must really pay attention to the video and make the video apart of your life, and support prevention as a way of life. Frederick explained that they are all responsible for each other s lives and making sure that they are all safe. Hubbard s road construction company remains trying to prevent accidents and also forcing their employees to take safety and sexual harassment seriously. • 48. Understanding The Development Of Monotheism Today, many people believe there is only one God. This belief in monotheism has not always been understood in the way that modern believers understand it. In the early days of Israel, they believed that there were many gods, though they could only worship their god, YHWH. Levenson looks at Israel s past and development to see how monotheism developed. Did it develop from a belief in one God, who is alone YHWH, or through a belief that YHWH is the one God above all other gods? This question is key in understanding the development of monotheism in Israel. For example, one can see how there could be two gods partaking in the flood narrative. The first god regrets making creation while later in the story there is a change in the character in the god present to one who promises not to bring about a flood again, even if humanity is evil. This shows how Israel acknowledged multiple gods, though only worshipping YHWH. There are elements present in Israel s history that make both the idea of the nation acknowledging other gods and them believing in monotheism. One example of the belief in the plurality of gods, the first commandment of the ten: You shall no other god before me Exodus 20:3. God could have made the commandment, I am your Lord, the only God . Thus one can see how the Israelites believed in polytheism. However, this does not mean that the Israelites believed the other gods were gods for they knew all power rested in the hands of YHWH. This is the beginning of how ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
