Explain The Principles For Implementing Duty Of Care In...
Principles for implementing duty of care in health, social care or children s and young people s
settings
1.1 To have the duty of care in a care setting means to provide safety for all service users, to give
them choice no matter what their capacity is. It is my responsibility to provide all the best
services possible, making sure that their health and wellbeing is being looked after by all staff.
You must follow all works policies and procedures to provide the quality of care they need and
wish. You must make sure that you are adhering to all their needs in their best interests. Although
they may have the right to do things such as go out alone or know passcodes on doors doesn t
mean its at their best interests, so you are there to provide the duty of care for that service user and
have evidence at why you think it is not for their best interest, and to support them in any choice
they make. TC 34.1.1
1.2 Safeguarding is a service which is there to report and discuss any issues concerning the
welfare of all service users. If there has been an incident you must report this to safeguarding and
then they will follow up in the correct manner. You work along side safeguarding to ensure the
safety of all service users and if there has been an incident then you must provide evidence that
you have provided them with the quality of care and not neglecting them. You are there to protect
all individuals and safeguarding can be there to support what you have done as long as you are

Theme Of Exposure And The Grauballe Man

6. Exposure The Grauballe Man Comparison Piece:
At the heart of the conflicts lay the constitutional status of Northern Ireland. The goal of the
unionist and overwhelmingly Protestant majority was to remain part of the United Kingdom. The
goal of the nationalist and republican, almost exclusively Catholic minority, was to become part of
the Republic of Ireland. Seamus Heaney s presence during the conflicts induced him to ponder upon
and write about the brutal and barbaric consequences in Northern Ireland. The poems in North
explore a number of intriguing and mysterious themes such as the national and cultural past of his
homeland, life, death, sex, gender, and land ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The persona, by extension Heaney, likens himself to a comet. Not any comet, but a comet that
[is] lost. Though the comet is part of a wide universe, it is alone. This echoes Heaney s concerns.
He feels as though he is part of the wider community of Ireland, yet he feels psychologically
separated from all. He feels his voice cannot be heard, amongst the masses, that it is covered by
those million tons of light. A hyperbole is used here to depict the insignificance of the comet in
universe, and therefore Heaney in society. He feels worthless. Instead, Heaney wishes for a
meteorite. There is a change in tone from the second stanza to the third. The comet visible at
sunset is expected, it should appear. Yet, the falling star only sometimes appears. The former is
expected, whilst the latter is unpredictable. Heaney himself admires the meteorite, the falling
star. This is shown through the use of the exclamation mark. Unlike the comet which typically
follows a cycle, a meteorite is free, it does not need to abide to a marked trail. Rather, it is able to
float and fall whenever and wherever it wishes. This is metaphoric for Heaney; he wants to be
able to express himself freely. Yet, the political circumstances in Northern Ireland do not allow for
such, it forces him to choose sides, to be the voice for

The Pros And Cons Of Self Driving Jobs
Although in some respects self driving cars would cause an increase in unemployment but
generally where jobs are lots, even more are created. The software for autonomous cars has to be
very complex to allow it to navigate the roads while at the same time remaining safe for the
driver, other motorists and pedestrians. This means many new jobs will be created within the
software development market. On top of this there is much competition for the race to build
autonomous cars, over 33 corporations are pushing to create a safe and functional autonomous
vehicle, some of these companies include: Google, Tesla, Apple, Audi, Bosch and General
Motors. This healthy competition between companies is good for both employees as the
companies will be putting a lot of resources into building self driving cars. Overall the development
of self driving cars does create many jobs in all... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Jobs are both created within the production and design of self driving cars and jobs are lost where
self driving cars replace the need for other forms of transport. In the long run, self driving cars will
outweigh the negatives of that they cause on unemployment and the economy. Self driving cars
have already created many high skilled jobs both designing the hardware and the software that
the cars are dependent on. With the competition between every big car manufacture and tech
giants to develop self driving cars there are many more jobs being created that need to be filled.
Self driving cars will help reduce congestion on motorways while help people in cities find
parking and travel more easily around cities. Although it can be argued that jobs will be lost
such as taxi drivers, truck drivers or bus drivers, autonomous cars are at least 3 years away from
release if not longer, this gives for the economy to adapt and change to reduce the impact but to
also develop the increasing range of benefits that self driving cars

A Hectic Schedule Analysis
A Hectic Schedule The term struggle is used frequently amongst the teenagers of this generation.
It is commonly used for almost every job which is not appealing. They say life is such a struggle
which is a true statement, but it is such a broad statement it has different meaning for every
individual. My struggle in life is time management. Sophomore year was not too hectic for me
as I was taking honors classes and deeply involved in Asian and Pacific Islander Club. I was also
in the musical which taught me how to balance my school life and after school curriculars even
more. I also committed to volunteer at PAST E for a few months after school. With my
experience of balancing school life and activities sophomore year, I thought it would be fun to
add more extra curriculars to my schedule. At the end of my sophomore year I applied to be the
head chairwoman of the diversity and community committees as I believed I had good attributes
of leading these communities. I wanted to give back to the CC community. I was denied both
positions, but the diversity committee called me back after a day within the interviews. I accepted
it graciously even though I was warned there would be a lot of extra work. In addition to accepting
a leadership role, I also committed myself... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In addition to my newfound extracurricular activities, I was also taking two AP classes. I knew
that four AP/honors classes would be difficult and work demanding, but little did I know how
difficult it would be on top of student council. I would wake up at 6:00 in the morning, leave my
house at 6:20, and arrive at school in time for student council meetings which begin at 7. After
school ended, I would go to cross country practice and would come home just in time for dinner. I
would work on homework for hours before finally sleeping in order to get up to begin the same
routine all over

Essay On Why I Want To Attend College
Like many immigrants, my parents moved to Canada, from China, in order to give me a better
life, and lessen the burden on my future by providing me with better opportunities. As the oldest
child in my family, I will be the first to attend university. I received an early admission to McGill
University for their Bachelor of Science program; I will be majoring in either biochemistry,
physiology, or psychology. My aspirations at McGill Universitystems from its top medical
doctorate programs, its intensive focus on research, and the overall liberal and accepting belief
aura of the school. Although, my parents are able to somewhat support me through my bachelor s
degree, however, they are also sponsoring an international student, who is my cousin on my dad s

I saved all of my earnings from my summer internship, part time job, and other small awards in
order to cover my tuition and living expenses. By the time I attend university, I will have saved a
portion of my first year s tuition. Therefore, I am seeking aid for the portion of the expenses that
I could not cover on my own, especially residence and living costs. Receiving this scholarship
will allow me to focus on my studies, as well, take away the financial burden on my parents. As a
young child, I always valued independence and feared being a burden to those around me,
especially those that I care for. During my education, I will continue to seek opportunities for
summer internships in my field of study to finance my second year s tuition, at the same time I
will focus on my courses as they are my top priorities. Thank you for taking the time to read my
application and to consider me for this scholarship. Through my future ambitions, I aim to uphold
the values of Mr. and Mrs. Van den Brink as well as those of other esteemed McGill alumni, and

The Theory Of Goal Attainment
In 1981 Imogene King introduced her mid range Theory of Goal Attainment (this theory has also
been referred to as the theory of goal achievement (Johnson and Webber, 2010)). This theory is
based on the grand theory called the Conceptual System, also created by King (Frey et al: 2002). To
understand the more focused mid range theory it is important to first quickly understand the
conceptual system.
The conceptual system was created using systems analysis and systems theory literature (Johnson
and Webber, 2010). It was originally referred to as a conceptual framework, but King changed the
terminology in 1997 to Conceptual System (Frey et al, 2002). The conceptual system focused on
decision making in nursing. It is organized around three systems; Personal Systems which pertain
to the individual, Interpersonal Systems which pertain to small groups, and Social Systems which
pertain to the society as a whole. King saw these three interacting systems as part of the larger
decision making process of human beings (Frey et al, 2002).
The Theory of Goal Attainment is a middle range theory derived from King s Conceptual System.
The Theory of Goal Attainment focuses on the interactions between the personal, interpersonal, and
social systems. Frey et al (2002) describes the central concepts of the theory as perception,
communication, interaction, transaction, self, role, growth and development, stressors/stress, time,
and space. Four specific concepts within the theory; perception,

Prosperity for the Spaniards in the New Wold was the...
It is hard to believe that even the Spaniards imagined that one journey in 1492 will change theirs
and world s history so dramatically. The moment that Spanish foot stepped on American soil started
years of prosperity and glory for the Spanish empire but at the cost of the destruction of American
societies. The encounter with the new world was controversial historical moment that created one
united history instead of two world histories. The discovery led many Spaniards to the new world
with the intention of settling the lands but eventually this was the start of devastating of cultures,
human populations and traditions. Using power and coercion they spread fear and destruction in

He tells about the most humble, patient, and peaceable people he saw in his life. People that are
so eager to know the more that if they will brought to know the one true god they would be the

the Barbarous, uncultivated and inhumane descriptions of the indigenous by previous Spaniards.
He also describes the horrors the Spaniards did in the new world. His main example is the island
Hispaniola. He observes how the Spaniards started their first ravages and oppressions in the
island. The Spaniards killed, tortured, and destroyed the native people with the most varied
methods of cruelty. He tells how they dealt with the chieftains that rebelled they hanged them
when their feet almost touched the ground in groups of thirteen (as Jesus and his apostles) and set
burning wood underneath them burning them alive. To date, these shocking acts reverberate
around the world as example of the Spaniards. But obviously Casas s stance was opposite to the
Spaniards. The Spaniards saw themselves as rescuers of those barbarian natives . They saw
themselves as the greatest nation that came to the new world to save those indigenous from their
kings and devilish beliefs ant that their only goal was to spread the Catholic faith through the
indigenous people. So why the spreading of the Pure Christianity included Massacres of man,

Nightfall Brings Panic
It seems that when night falls, the mind appears to go into a state of panic. Nighttime brings to
mind many horror movies scenario. Well they do when you re in the middle of nowhere, with a
couple of friends and a machete. At least in my mind that s what happened. A state of pure terror
seems to sink in, and I believe the worst scenario that a random stranger is coming inside my tent
and slaughtering me while I m asleep. To begin with, when the day started, it seemed that the
scenery was beautiful and peaceful. It appeared that the same place can have a different
perspective at the drop of the sun. I had never gone camping; it always seemed like a fun thing to
do with the right people. My friends wanted to celebrate my seniority and almost graduating,
since they were in college themselves, and knew how important senior year of high school was.
We were thinking of going on a road trip somewhere far from Fresno. We joked for a bit about
going camping, and then it just seemed to happen. The whole ride there we all seemed happy
with chatter, catching up on our gossip. In total we were three girls and two guys. Once we
arrived I could smell the deep aura of pine and green woods. The trees were basked in sun,
giving of a cool shade; the branches of the trees seemed to follow the movements of the silent
breeze that passed. Birds seem to fly by slowly almost lazily, there chirping heard from a distant
as they passed. As soon as that tent was up I went on a walk to go exploring.

Westmount is a 125 unit Retirement Residence established in 1997 that offers both assisted living
and independent supportive living options to seniors in the community. After a history of high
occupancy rates, stable clientele and profitable operations the establishment is now going through a
period of low profitability. After analyzing the costing system of the company and designing a new
pricing model with the purpose of remaining as profitable as in the past while continuing to attract
new clients; the main findings were: Strengths and limitations of the current costing model o

(reducing fixed costs and increasing net margin) 5. Market analysis with direct competitor in the
region suggests that studio prices are at least 21% lower and one bedroom suite prices are at least
40% lower than the competition in the new pricing model. Comparison with the general market
suggests similar findings. MAIN REPORT
In May 2006, Westmount Retirement Residence was having very low profitability. Its very simple
pricing model essentially charged each resident the same price per month regardless of their needs.
This was due to a change in the patientsВґ demands. In the past, patientsВґ demands were similar
and therefore the companyВґs pricing and costing system was appropriate. But changes in the
population and in the requirements of the residents caused that the pricing model remained out of
date and the costing system inappropriate. One of the problems observed when analyzing the
companyВґs situation was that due to the costing system used it was not possible to have a clear
picture of how much each of the services offered were costing. Consequently, it was clearly very
difficult being able to define a pricing system that will give the shareholders the desired profit. The
first step was to design a new costing system adequate for the company

Security Enhancement Strategies And Strategies
VI.SECURITY ENHANCEMENT STRATEGIES:
Some of the strategies and defensive measures that can be incorporated in the cloud environment to
overcome the threats and challenges mentioned in the above section are as follows.
In order to provide protection to the computer system and to the network, Intrusion Detection
System (IDS) could be employed, which will detect hostile activities in the host or network and
generates alerts to provide notifications regarding such malicious intrusions. IDS also has the ability
to distinguish between attacks initiated by hackers outside an organization and attacks that starts
from within an organization due to a malicious user. Augmenting the IDS with an impartial third
party device for monitoring would be preferable, since the intrusion alerts will be sent to cloud
service providers, which is not completely reliable, in comparison to the traditional method in which
the alerts are sent to an administrator.
Host based IDS (HIDS) captures the communication traffic, whereas the Network based IDS
(NIDS) watches over the network traffic packets, based on which system integrity and detection of
unauthorized contact with the computer network can be ensured. Although HIDS exhibits weaker
real time response, it has a strong capability to detect insider attacks by monitoring the state of the
host system and its dynamic characteristics.
Both host and network based intrusions could be detected to some extent using an Anomaly based
IDS. In this, a

Feminist Writers Like Kate Millet Essay
The traditional feminists want equal rights for woman with men. Traditional feminism is caught in
the dilemma of demanding equal treatment for unequal functions, because it is unwilling to
challenge political classification by sex. Radical women, on the other hand grasp that women as a
group somehow fit into a political analysis of society. Radical feminismis a perspective within
feminism that calls for a radical reordering of society in which male supremacy is eliminated in all
and economical contexts by challenging existing social norms and institution. Radical feminism has
been extremely important in developing and analyzing woman s oppression. The concept of
patriarchy which has been developed within feminist writing has a whole variety of different
meaning At the most general Patriarchy has been used to refer to the male domination and to the
power relationship by which men dominates women. Radical feminist writers like Kate Millet, who
has been focuses solely upon the system of male domination and subordination. The concept of
patriarchy in sexual politics attempts to analyze the autonomous basis of the oppression of women
in all forms of society and to provide a theoretical justification for the autonomy of feminist politics.
Kate Millet s Sexual Politics represents one of the first theoretical attempt to focus the specific
nature of women s oppression within the contemporary women s movement. To Millet focuses the

Christopher Columbus s `` The Harp And The Shadow `` Essay
For many centuries, Christopher Columbus has been portrayed as a hero who founded America.
As many may discover, later in life, Christopher Columbus can be considered to be the head of a
mass genocide. Alejo Carpentier s novel, The Harp and the Shadow, shines light on the evils of
Christopher Columbus with a fictional twist. Victoria Chase states, Carpentier combines an Old
World perspective, formed by tradition, expectation and necessity, with a decidedly New World
sense of its origin and history (Chase 28). This paper will examine despite what Christopher
Columbuswas famed to be, he is demythologized by Alejo Carpentier s novel when the true side of
Columbus is exposed. Alejo Carpentier writes this new historical novel for a reason: These novels
have as a unique feature: their closeness to the events described in the chronicles of the Indies. It
has been their purpose to preserve what was already told thru conquest documents, yet making
subtle variations to reinforce their agendas (Atia 42). Many point out that Carpentier wrote this
novel because of his political visions of the time, His writings were by and a large notable critique
of bourgeois society and Western civilization. The Harp and the Shadow provides sufficient
evidence of that intellectual attitude in his passionate condemnation of colonialism and the
imposition of bourgeois values in the new continent (Atia 22 23). Carpentier demythologized
Columbus because of these reasons. He begins The Hand

What Is The Significance Of The Gold Rush In Canada
History may not be everyone s favourite subject however, there are some fascinating events that
have happened in Canada s history in which one of them was the Gold Rush Era. In Canada, the
three key events in the Gold Rush Era included the Fraser River, Cariboo, and Klondike gold
rushes. A gold rush is when a numerous amount of individuals migrate to a specific region to get
hold of newly discovered gold in pursuit of riches.
The Fraser River Gold Rush was British Columbia s first significant gold rush. In 1857, a local
man was taking a drink from the Thompson River when he noticed a tiny glittering pebble. That
pebble was then discovered to be gold and with that the history of British Columbia was changed
for eternity. In 1858, when the word spilled out that there was gold near the Fraser River, more
than 30, 000 people flocked to the shores of the Fraser River to Lillooet, British Columbia to find
gold. A significant amount of seekers were Americans looking for new opportunities after the
California gold rush had come to an end. Due to the arrival of many Americans, to prevent
American invasion from threatening the British sovereignty in the area, a new colony called New
Caledonia was created, which is now present day British Columbia. The gold rush ... Show more

Denim Jacket
10 ways to wear the denim jacket
Rescued from our high school years, the denim jacket is unbreakable. Year after year, she
follows us without ever tacking . The older it is, the more we love it. Whatever its style, its
morphology , its age and its tastes, it adapts to almost everything . But to avoid the return to
college effect, follow our advice to find the right model and how to wear it.
Version rock : exit denims too washed out, raw materials raw, frankly indigo blues, even black
denims. The best ? A model close to the body, worn the collar slightly raised and associated with
a black slim or a mini skirt in leather and a pair of studded boots that makes noise or a pair of
santiags. And under the jacket? A tee shirt with the image of his favorite rock band!

It works with all jackets. And it s especially effective, for example, to break the bohemian look of a

Romantic version : nothing like a ruffle pattern to give a wild blue flower look to any denim jacket
. Slipped on a Furstenberg Diane wrap dress and derbys or sandals pavement, it s a total look as
easy to take to the office as in the evening.
Junior version : the latest fashion blogger / instragrameuses and influential? Choose a loose fitting
jacket and wear it tied at the waist. Needless to say, this look is reserved for very, very young (do
not pout if you see your teenager leave to the lycГ©e so dressed) ... or very, very fashionable.
Chic version : a denim jacket on a red carpet? Yes it s possible. It is perfect for relaxing a ceremony
outfit if you choose a basic model (not too short, too loose or too washed out). Try the lurex and
denim wedding, and you ll see how easy it is to take on everyday shiny outfits!
Summer version : go on bleached and faded canvases or pastel colors. Well also: white denim. We

Puritan Beliefs And Mary Rowlandson
Puritan Beliefs and Mary Rowlandson
Puritan beliefs reflected in Mary Rowlandson s A Narrative of the Captivity, Suffering and
Restoration of Mary Rowlandson . The beliefs are depicted in her eleven weeks of captivity after
being captured by the Wampanoag tribesmen.
After her house was burned during a raid by local Indians. Rowlandson s friends and family
members were killed or captured by Native American in the 1676. Rowlandson and her baby
were wounded, capture and forced to walk for days after the raid and Rowlandson had to watch
her own child wither away and die due a lack food and medical care. During Rowlandson s
captivity with the Indians, the only thing she had to fall back on for her survival was her bible and
her Puritan beliefs in God. This paper shows how Rowlandson s understanding of the Puritan
Tenets or beliefs helped her in deal with her captivity physically and spiritually. The reader should
have an understanding of the Puritan Tenets and understand that the Tenets are not just words but a
way of life for the Puritan. To understand and interrupt the bible, the Puritan use typology, which is
an interruptive way of reading the bible. The Puritan mode of reading Biblical history
acknowledges that both the type and the antitype are historical realities and rests on the assumption
that God works in history and has a plan for it, creating real things that prefiguratively signify other
real things later on in time that fulfill the purposes of God s

eventual successful company, Capital One, in the late 1980 s. They both worked in the Virginia
based Signet Bank . Fairbank started noticing trends in the financial industry that he felt Signet

Signet Bank knew that the credit card industry was very risky, but Fairbank was ready to take a

Signet Bank almost had to cut the credit card venture do to losses in profit from some real estate

Signet Bank. They made their credit card more personal and gave out highly competitive

Is Cctv Surveillance Helping to Reduce Crime or Is It...
Topic: Is CCTV surveillance helping to reduce crime or is it affecting the people s privacy in public
spaces?
SURVEILLANCE: A CURSE TO PRIVACY
What does privacy means? Privacy can be defined as that area of a man s life which, in any given
circumstances, a reasonable man with an understanding of the legitimate needs of the community
would think it wrong to invade (Aquilina, 2010). For example, when people walk on street or
play in parks, shop in a public market place, study or talk on phone in public library, they want it to
be free in doing all this. However, if the people find them being monitored on CCTV cameras, they
feel it uncomfortable to stay in that environment anymore. On one hand, the government is taking

Secondly, in Birmingham robbery decreased before installation and then increased to even higher
levels afterward. Wounding and assault rates remained consistent although vehicle thefts declined.
Those who used the city centre at night were less fearful. But same as the case in New Castle
Upon Tyne due some undisciplined people burglaries rose after few months. It was seen like
people of Birmingham were losing faith in the effects of CCTVs. Lastly, In King s Lynn vehicle
crime and burglary were significantly reduced. Wounding and assault began to decrease prior to
installation and then began to rise again afterward. Massive investment in CCTV cameras to
prevent crime in the UK has failed to have a significant impact, despite billions of pounds spent
on the new technology. Only 3% of street robberies in London were solved using CCTV images,
despite the fact that Britain has more security cameras than any other country in Europe
(Bowcott, 2008) . It was clearly seen that in these three towns advantages of CCTV surveillance
outweigh their negative impact. Lastly, if we go on counting, there can be many misuses done
using CCTV surveillance. For example, it is not safe for women to use changing room in the
store or in the mall since there is a threat of been visualized or been video recorded through the
hidden CCTV cameras fitted illegally by the store owners to make Changing Room Scandals on
women. Another misuse of CCTV surveillance in office is

The Significance Of Statutory Interpretation
Statutory interpretation can be required when there is complexity of uncertainty arises when judges
interpret the law. There are several instances where a judge may call for statues to be interpreted.
For example, when there is failure in legislation on a particular point such as, change in the use of
language. When there is a form of ambiguity in the statue it can lead to a dispute. Mean a dispute
can arise when a statue can have more than one meaning which, could affect the outcome of a case
dependent on which meaning they use to interpret the statue. However, statue in the 18th century,
used words which has different meanings. Which, was illustrated in the case of Cheeseman v DPP.
The defendant was witnessed masturbating in public toilet by the police officers. However, Under
The Town Police Clauses Act 1847 , stated that they must be a passenger. On the other hand, The
Public Health Amendment Act 1902, stated that the word, street could mean any public places
under the control of local authority which were the police officers. The Police Clauses Act stated
the word, passenger could have different meanings but, in this case they believed that it could mean
a, foot passenger also, the police were not travelling at the time they saw the defendant and he could
not be arrested under these circumstances. This shows that there can be ambiguity interpreting
statutes because, there was a form of lexical and structural ambiguity interpreting which resulted in

Modern Day Zombies
Today, there are zombies everywhere, they have taken over the planet and wander the streets,

bothered by humans. In today s word smartphones are creating modern day zombies by
controlling them, just like how zombies are being controlled by their disease. Throughout the
years a cellphone meant a portable phone to communicate, In 1973 Matty Copper made the very

Gram Negative Streptobacillus Lab Report
Pseduo Aeruginosa
This bacteria is a gram negative, staphylobacillus (rod shaped) organism and arranged in a
clustered/colonial formation It is in my picture you can see that the bacteria all over is stained
pink meaning that the bacteria is gram negative because of the counterstain. It also has the shape
of a rod meaning that it is in fact bacillus. It was easy for me to find this bacteria and put it under
oil immersion to get a clearer picture. While checking google it is clear to me that my results come

It is a little harder to tell the shape on this one because I didn t get a clearer picture under oil

looking closer I think I can see some rod shaped ones mixed into the cocci shaped ones. I can see
that the cocci are arranged in a linked formation. While searching on the internet I can see that it is
usually gram negative streptobacilli. It could be the fact that I didn t get a clear enough picture or
my culture I sampled was too thick.
Unknowns
While looking at my two unknowns under the microspore and comparing them it was clear to me
that these two are not pure cultures. To my understanding a pure culture is comes from one single

Gram negative, leading me to draw the conclusion that the unknowns are not pure cultures. I am

Characterization Of Fagin In Oliver Twist By Charles Dickens
BAB I
INTRODUCTION
1. Victorian period
Victoria s long reign saw a growth in literature, especially in fiction, practiced notably by
Dickens, Thackeray, the BrontГ«s, George Eliot, Trollope, James, and Hardy. Victorian is a term
that is often extended beyond the queen s reign (1837 1901) to include William IV s reign from
1830. Historian distinguishes early, middle, and late Victorian England, corresponding to periods
of growing pains, of confidence in the 1850s, and of loss of consensus after 1880, a date which
offers a convenient division: Charles Dickens (1812 70), and Oscar Wilde (1854 1900) belonged to
different ages. (Alexander, Michael. (2000). A history of English literature. London: Macmillan

is very very old shriveled Jew with a villainous looking and repulsive face. Victorians stereotyped
the Jews as avaricious gold worshippers, and in accordance with that stereotype, Fagin s eyes

I like this novel because it tells a child s struggle against poverty, injustice, and social class. In

when Oliver becomes a troublemaker by asking for another food. I can see this by looking and

How Did World War 1 Contribute To The Balance Of Power Theory
World War I saw the nations involved rallied into two major alliances in order to curb German s
increasing power. It is evident that German amassing too much power poses a threat to the security
of its counterparts in an anarchic system. As a result, other countries were willing to use various
means not only to mitigate the risks but also maintain their independence in the world s political
structure. The balance of power theory focuses on how countries can achieve a balance and
international order. The causes of World War one can be attributed to the balance of power
mechanisms used by the countries involved.

arms race witnessed in Europe was a strategy used by countries to ensure they are not left behind

economies of European empires. Finally, nationalism provides a means by which people could

Pepicello (2016) argues that leaders are not made, they are exposed (W. Pepicello, personal

especially in a virtual group setting where members are separated by time, distance, and

effort than in a face to face setting (Malthotra, Majchrzak Rosen, (2007). Over a period of seven

other matter pertaining to the group. Every team member got on board. However, due to a new
email system, Office 365, at Montgomery College, emails from outside the college were

Low and Decreasing Self Esteem During Adolescence Critique
Steiger, Allemand, Robins, and Fend (2014) hypothesized that not only the level but also the
change in self esteem affect depression. Using data from over a 23 year span, they investigated
adolescent level and change in self esteem and examined their predictive effects on adult depressive
symptoms two decades later. Self esteem was assessed annually from age 12 to 16, and depression
was assessed at age 16 and 35. Subsequently, they found that results demonstrated that both the
level and change in self esteem served as predictors for adult depression (Steiger et al., 2014).

Construction Projects For The Construction Industry
Introduction Construction projects contain a high level of complicated procurement processes. Not
only the revenue or profit is critical in the construction industry, but market intelligence and
construction procurement knowledge are also important. The bidding process in the construction
industry is illustrated by many different involved parties including the architectural and
engineering firms, client, general contractors, material suppliers, specialized contractors,
manufacturers, etc. (Halaris, 2001). Preparing proposed documents, appraising bids, and
awarding the contract to the winner of the bid are among the major duties of the client (Gokhan
et al, 2006). (Gokhan et al, 2006) Fig. 1. Bid proposal preparation process Sub contracting has
comprehensively been used in the construction industry. It allows general contractors to employ
the lowest workforce in construction projects and promotes specialization (Maturana, 2005).
Many general contractors only play a role as construction management agents in construction
projects, for example, they sub contract a large volume of their work to sub contractors (Shash,
1998). The characteristic bidding process is showed in Fig. 1. Bidding requirements and
procedures vary and have disparate requirements that are created by the owners. There is a
challenge of a bidding procedure is the quantity of paper based forms that need to be filled, revised,

The ancient Greek civilization contributed many great new ideas and aspects to everyday life that
shaped and inspired the modern day society. The Greeks are well known for their construction of
temples, acropolis and other grand architectural structures. Among these structures stood one of the
most famous, the Parthenon. The Parthenon was a symbol of Greek society and culture as it stood as
one of Greece s most important architectural buildings. Besides being the Athenians greatest
architectural achievement, the Parthenon serves a basic purpose. The Parthenon is a temple

As a cause of this relationship, the Parthenon plays a trick and strikes an illusion to the eye. Greek
architects Ictinus and Callicrates erected the temple atop the southern flank of the acropolis, the
central hill of the Greek city state which was used for defensive and religious purposes, then in
seventeen years, Ictinus and Callicrates completed the decorations of the Parthenon (Harper OL).
The Parthenon is made entirely of a marble from Mount Pentelicus called Pentelic marble and
stands approximately eighteen meters high. The selections made for the material of the Parthenon
were chosen with many points considered to ensure a strong and sturdy future. The Parthenon was
commissioned by Pericles sometime after Greek victories over the Persians between 490 and 480
BC (Glancey 26, 27). During the Persian Greek wars, Athens believed that Athena watched over
them and that she helped them throughout the war. The Parthenon represents the wealth, power,
society, and culture of Athens. The building of the Parthenon cost the Athenians four hundred and
sixty nine talents, which symbolized Athens as wealthy.

Evaluation Of Processed Meats And Other Types Of Cancer
In 2014, an International Advisory Committee convened and recommended the evaluation of
processed and red meats by the International Agency of Research on Cancer (IARC) Monographs
Programme. This recommendation was prompted by studies suggesting some sort of association
between increases in cancer and processed in red meats. 22 experts from 10 countries, reviewed
800 studies and confirmed the positive association of processed and red meats to various types of
cancer. The IARC classified red meatin the group 2A category as probably carcinogenic to
humans, due to limited evidence. The IARC classified processed meats in the Group 1 listing,
along with tobacco smoking and asbestos, as carcinogenic to humans, due to sufficient evidence. It
has been proven that Red meats are categorized as beef, lamb, veal, pork, mutton, horse and goat

Protestors Kneeling For The Anthem
Ever since Kaepernick gained national public attention for sitting through the national anthem in
the 2016 NFL season, the topic about the national anthem and the flag s symbolic meanings has
been a hot topic. Colin Kaepernick or any other person in the United States has absolutely every
right to sit or kneel for the national anthem. The deal here is if it is appropriate for people mostly
athletes to protestin the form of sittingor kneeling. The side supporting the protests would argue
that the flag or the national anthem represent a democracy that looks down upon people of color.
The protestors claim they protest solely for the purpose of achieving social change. I personally
believe that there may be some social injustices still around. Protesting in the way of disrespecting
the flag or the national anthem is not only morally wrong, but it is unpatriotic and traitorous. I
think that the social change protestors are looking for can be achieved through some other type of
active protest or actions. Such actions could be getting politically involved with lawmakers, talking
with PACs and or lobbying. Soldiers have fought and died for our country leaving behind families
and relatives; they did fight for the right for protestors to kneel and sit for the anthem, but I think
that protesting in this manner is utterly unacceptable. There seems to be an either yes or no answer
when it comes to the question about the morality of protestors kneeling for the anthem. I

How Kindness Shapes One s Destiny in Million Dollar Baby
Individuals often show kindness to shape their destiny, depending on how kindness is directed
can change course of ones destiny. In the film Million Dollar Baby, director Clint Eastwood uses
protectiveness and thoughtfulness to demonstrate ways in which a person uses kindness to
determine their destiny. In the film Frankie appears to be a stubborn man, who is very self
centered although this is not the case. Throughout the film his attitude begins to become clearer to
the viewer and he becomes less skewed. His ultimate decision in the end of the film proves his
true identity and shows how protectiveness and thoughtfulness has shaped his destiny. Often
individuals use kindness to shape and alter their destiny either for, better or worse. An individual
often show kindness, a form uncertain or requires a greater informed view/perspective.
Protectiveness can be a way that defines a person showing kindness, although within the film and
within humanity different perspectives can cause different perception or provide different
impressions. Frankie is a stubborn old man, a coach to fighters, and has acquired vast knowledge

Why Is Oscar Wilde A Literary Critic
I was a man who stood in the symbolic relations to the art and culture of my age.
The late Victorian period saw a revolution in the spheres of art and literature. John Ruskin,
Matthew Arnold, Walter Pater and Oscar Wilde were among the most influential art and literary
critics of the mid and late Victorian period. They baffled the British opinion with their brand new
stance on literature, paintings, and sculptures. They turned criticism into a brand new form of art.

Wilde s Intentions according to Lawrence Danson: shows the ability to gather up fragments, to
call and reply to simultaneously themselves and others like the stringed lute on which all winds
can play or the twice written scroll of his poem HГ©las . Intentions shows the depth of Oscar
Wilde s reading of literature and knowledge of previous critical writings. But as Jonathan
Freedman s introduction to A collection of Critical Essays shows, Wilde s criticism was long
left unstudied, as it was thought to be too flamboyant. His criticism was overshadowed by his
personal life: Ass thete or aesthete, gay saint or poГ©te maudit. Those were the roles Wilde
played in the classrooms and criticism for most of the twentieth century. Freedman goes on to
say that: only a few serious accounts of his work could be found, particularly in the later days of
new criticism; but it was largely for his flamboyant life and exhibit of decadence that Wilde was
considered. The interest in Oscar Wilde s critical writings is quite recent and a few

Sp2750 Unit 4
From the resultant vector matrix, it can be decipered that the final rankings are: team в– (C@D), H,
E, A, J, B, в– (F@G) and I. The ultimate results of the competition were fairly different to those
predicted, including various exact placement.
From the predicted ranking, it was certan that team D win the competition, particularly based on
their dominating status in the preliminary rounds. And this predicted is correct. Team C was
expected to maintain 2nd posistion. However, without expact, team C shining through in the final
5 rounds and Team D and C deuce (1st). Team C based on the 6 (matrix S), 70.5 (гЂ–matrix

Team A shining through in the final 5 rounds and team J beats team B securing the position as the
winners of the competition. Team J was the defending team B and provided a tough competition
to other teams. The matter of team J wining, despite the prediction that team B would dominate, is
largely supported by the fact the estimated ranking for team J and B were very close, with 4 and 3
(matrix S), 15.3 and 16.08 (гЂ–matrix SгЂ—_1), 13.16 and 18.2 (гЂ–matrix SгЂ—_2), and 7.7
and 8.04 (matrix S_3) respectively. Indicating a fairly tight competition between the two in the
elimination rounds (on the basis of them playing with a similar success rate as in previous rounds).

Essay On The Movie Coraline
In terms of plot, the movie adaptation of Neil Gaiman s Coraline is extremely true to the source
material. It still tells the story of a young girl who grows unappreciative of her real family and
finds a magical door in her new home that leads to a better, fantastical version of the family she
has now. The creepiness and scary moments are also true to form, with this world being only a
copy of the real world, created by the Other Mother in an attempt to trap Coralineforever. The quest
to rescue the three ghost children is almost exactly the same, with two of their souls being found
in Miss Spink and Forcible s theater and Mr. B s circus. But since the movie added a scene in
which an enticing garden is used as an item to gain Coraline s trust in the Other Mother s fake
world, one of the ghost souls was placed in this location instead. Another major difference
between the book and the movie is the addition of the character Wybie. He acts as a source of
inside knowledge about The Pink Palace and helps kill the Other Mother s hand at the climax of
the movie, while in the book Coraline gathered her information about her home from her parents as
well as Miss Spink and Forcible, and killed the Other Mother s hand by tricking it rather than
crushing it. The use of stop motion animation was also a benefactor in bringing this terrifying story
to a visual format, as stop motion tends to look uncanny and unsettling at times. Both works are
masterpieces of writing and storytelling, and

However, many challenges with service delivery exist. From an administration perspective a
common theme with regard to challenges involves the point at which families enter the system as
there is a lack of a systematic effort as there is not a protocol in place at point of registration.
Additionally, the schools are not notified in a timely manner so they can make the necessary
arrangements for getting the kids registered and finding space for them. District wide every school
has their unique forms and procedures for processing newcomers which has prevented the
streamlining of registration process and created delays in enrolling the kids in school. It should also
be noted that lack of required immunization documentation is also a challenge in preventing kids

Traditional Fine Arts Response To Futurism
The Machine Aesthetic
Traditional Fine Arts Response to Mechanisation
Marinetti addressed the death of traditional art in his Futurist Manifesto of 1909 when he stated
Why should we look back, when what we want is to break down the mysterious doors of the
Impossible? Time and Space died yesterday. We already live in the absolute, because we have
created eternal, omnipresent speed (2001 21 2). Marinetti, among with artists of the Futurist,
Vorticist and Constructivist movements of the 20th century, believed that mechanisation was
fundamental to creating a new future where machines played a vital role in modern society. The
traditional style of painting and sculpture in accordance to Futurist principles had no place in this
new future. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Kulten discusses how Epstein destroyed The Rock Drill (1913 15) because in its complete
form, it was almost too symbolic and in order to cope with his work, had to reduce it to an
aesthetic work only (1969 65). Epstein took the synthetic man and removed the legs and parts of
the arms, leaving only the torso which he cast into a bronze bust in 1916. Having been involved
in sculpture his entire artistic career, Epstein reverted back to the traditional methods of creating
sculptures in order to gain familiarity in his work again. As a result of returning to traditional
themes, Epstein s work lost a majority of the revolutionary aspects that made The Rock Drill (1913
15) an important work for the recurring theme of mechanisation that enveloped society in the early
half of the 20th century (Kulten, 1969 65). Torso in Metal from The Rock Drill (1916) is an
important work to consider when exploring the machine aesthetic, as it is the expression of a
frightful artist, unable to cope with the mechanical world, thus turning his greatest creation into a
lifeless bust with minimal meaning or

Scout Finch Dbq
In the book To Kill a Mockingbird Scout Finch is the narrator (DBQ Project, p.7). She tells about
the different things that happened in the town of Maycomb, Alabama during the 1930s (DBQ
Project, p.7). She also talked about the people in the town. Scout talked about a specific trial
that completely rocked the town. The case involved a white girl named Mayella Ewell and an
African American man named Tom Robinson (DBQ Project, p.7). Mayella Ewell had no friends,
she was poor, and because of her gender was not looked at as superior, although under those
circumstances she was able to have influence within the case based on her class, gender, and race
(DBQ Document A, p.13). The trial was based off of Mayella Ewell, who accused... Show more

She was able to use her class, race, and gender in different ways to help win over the jury in her
case with Tom Robinson (DBQ Project, p.7). Her class showed her vulnerability, but it did not
show that by going through this process it would change her class, gender, and race. It brought
to attention that no matter her win or loss in court, she was still going back to her bad home life
(DBQ Document A). Her race helped her being that she was white, Tom was African American,
and the jury was white (DBQ Document A). No black man had been able to win a case with a
white jury (DBQ Document A). Mayella s gender allowed her to be vulnerable and a victim of
falling for a man that just interacting with on a normal basis could get her in trouble in which
she went over that boundary (DBQ Project p.7). Her gender in court puts her in the spot of
looking like a victim of a crime that she lied about in order to save herself (Lee, p.252). In either
case an innocent man was wrongly accused of a crime and the one accusing him would be going
straight back to a life filled with misery (DBQ Document B). In reality nobody won the

  • 3. Theme Of Exposure And The Grauballe Man Rafeed Siddiquey English Lang/Lit HL Y2 Michael Love 29th September 2015 6. Exposure The Grauballe Man Comparison Piece: At the heart of the conflicts lay the constitutional status of Northern Ireland. The goal of the unionist and overwhelmingly Protestant majority was to remain part of the United Kingdom. The goal of the nationalist and republican, almost exclusively Catholic minority, was to become part of the Republic of Ireland. Seamus Heaney s presence during the conflicts induced him to ponder upon and write about the brutal and barbaric consequences in Northern Ireland. The poems in North explore a number of intriguing and mysterious themes such as the national and cultural past of his homeland, life, death, sex, gender, and land ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The persona, by extension Heaney, likens himself to a comet. Not any comet, but a comet that [is] lost. Though the comet is part of a wide universe, it is alone. This echoes Heaney s concerns. He feels as though he is part of the wider community of Ireland, yet he feels psychologically separated from all. He feels his voice cannot be heard, amongst the masses, that it is covered by those million tons of light. A hyperbole is used here to depict the insignificance of the comet in universe, and therefore Heaney in society. He feels worthless. Instead, Heaney wishes for a meteorite. There is a change in tone from the second stanza to the third. The comet visible at sunset is expected, it should appear. Yet, the falling star only sometimes appears. The former is expected, whilst the latter is unpredictable. Heaney himself admires the meteorite, the falling star. This is shown through the use of the exclamation mark. Unlike the comet which typically follows a cycle, a meteorite is free, it does not need to abide to a marked trail. Rather, it is able to float and fall whenever and wherever it wishes. This is metaphoric for Heaney; he wants to be able to express himself freely. Yet, the political circumstances in Northern Ireland do not allow for such, it forces him to choose sides, to be the voice for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The software for autonomous cars has to be very complex to allow it to navigate the roads while at the same time remaining safe for the driver, other motorists and pedestrians. This means many new jobs will be created within the software development market. On top of this there is much competition for the race to build autonomous cars, over 33 corporations are pushing to create a safe and functional autonomous vehicle, some of these companies include: Google, Tesla, Apple, Audi, Bosch and General Motors. With the competition between every big car manufacture and tech giants to develop self driving cars there are many more jobs being created that need to be filled. Self driving cars will help reduce congestion on motorways while help people in cities find parking and travel more easily around cities. They say life is such a struggle which is a true statement, but it is such a broad statement it has different meaning for every individual. My struggle in life is time management. Sophomore year was not too hectic for me as I was taking honors classes and deeply involved in Asian and Pacific Islander Club. I was also in the musical which taught me how to balance my school life and after school curriculars even more. I also committed to volunteer at PAST E for a few months after school. With my experience of balancing school life and activities sophomore year, I thought it would be fun to add more extra curriculars to my schedule. At the end of my sophomore year I applied to be the head chairwoman of the diversity and community committees as I believed I had good attributes of leading these communities. • 7. The Theory Of Goal Attainment In 1981 Imogene King introduced her mid range Theory of Goal Attainment (this theory has also been referred to as the theory of goal achievement (Johnson and Webber, 2010)). This theory is based on the grand theory called the Conceptual System, also created by King (Frey et al: 2002). To understand the more focused mid range theory it is important to first quickly understand the conceptual system. The conceptual system was created using systems analysis and systems theory literature (Johnson and Webber, 2010). It was originally referred to as a conceptual framework, but King changed the terminology in 1997 to Conceptual System (Frey et al, 2002). The conceptual system focused on decision making in nursing. It is organized around three systems; Personal Systems which pertain to the individual, Interpersonal Systems which pertain to small groups, and Social Systems which pertain to the society as a whole. King saw these three interacting systems as part of the larger decision making process of human beings (Frey et al, 2002). The Theory of Goal Attainment is a middle range theory derived from King s Conceptual System. The Theory of Goal Attainment focuses on the interactions between the personal, interpersonal, and social systems. Frey et al (2002) describes the central concepts of the theory as perception, communication, interaction, transaction, self, role, growth and development, stressors/stress, time, and space. To begin with, when the day started, it seemed that the scenery was beautiful and peaceful. It appeared that the same place can have a different perspective at the drop of the sun. I had never gone camping; it always seemed like a fun thing to do with the right people. My friends wanted to celebrate my seniority and almost graduating, since they were in college themselves, and knew how important senior year of high school was. We were thinking of going on a road trip somewhere far from Fresno. We joked for a bit about going camping, and then it just seemed to happen. The whole ride there we all seemed happy with chatter, catching up on our gossip. In total we were three girls and two guys. Once we arrived I could smell the deep aura of pine and green woods. The trees were basked in sun, giving of a cool shade; the branches of the trees seemed to follow the movements of the silent breeze that passed. Birds seem to fly by slowly almost lazily, there chirping heard from a distant as they passed. As soon as that tent was up I went on a walk to go exploring. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Comparison with the general market suggests similar findings. MAIN REPORT In May 2006, Westmount Retirement Residence was having very low profitability. Its very simple pricing model essentially charged each resident the same price per month regardless of their needs. This was due to a change in the patientsВґ demands. In the past, patientsВґ demands were similar and therefore the companyВґs pricing and costing system was appropriate. But changes in the population and in the requirements of the residents caused that the pricing model remained out of date and the costing system inappropriate. One of the problems observed when analyzing the companyВґs situation was that due to the costing system used it was not possible to have a clear picture of how much each of the services offered were costing. Consequently, it was clearly very difficult being able to define a pricing system that will give the shareholders the desired profit. • 11. Security Enhancement Strategies And Strategies VI.SECURITY ENHANCEMENT STRATEGIES: Some of the strategies and defensive measures that can be incorporated in the cloud environment to overcome the threats and challenges mentioned in the above section are as follows. In order to provide protection to the computer system and to the network, Intrusion Detection System (IDS) could be employed, which will detect hostile activities in the host or network and generates alerts to provide notifications regarding such malicious intrusions. IDS also has the ability to distinguish between attacks initiated by hackers outside an organization and attacks that starts from within an organization due to a malicious user. Augmenting the IDS with an impartial third party device for monitoring would be preferable, since the intrusion alerts will be sent to cloud service providers, which is not completely reliable, in comparison to the traditional method in which the alerts are sent to an administrator. Host based IDS (HIDS) captures the communication traffic, whereas the Network based IDS (NIDS) watches over the network traffic packets, based on which system integrity and detection of unauthorized contact with the computer network can be ensured. Although HIDS exhibits weaker real time response, it has a strong capability to detect insider attacks by monitoring the state of the host system and its dynamic characteristics. Both host and network based intrusions could be detected to some extent using an Anomaly based IDS. In this, a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

As many may discover, later in life, Christopher Columbus can be considered to be the head of a mass genocide. Alejo Carpentier s novel, The Harp and the Shadow, shines light on the evils of Christopher Columbus with a fictional twist. Victoria Chase states, Carpentier combines an Old World perspective, formed by tradition, expectation and necessity, with a decidedly New World sense of its origin and history (Chase 28). This paper will examine despite what Christopher Columbuswas famed to be, he is demythologized by Alejo Carpentier s novel when the true side of Columbus is exposed. Alejo Carpentier writes this new historical novel for a reason: These novels have as a unique feature: their closeness to the events described in the chronicles of the Indies. It has been their purpose to preserve what was already told thru conquest documents, yet making subtle variations to reinforce their agendas (Atia 42). Many point out that Carpentier wrote this novel because of his political visions of the time, His writings were by and a large notable critique of bourgeois society and Western civilization. The Harp and the Shadow provides sufficient evidence of that intellectual attitude in his passionate condemnation of colonialism and the imposition of bourgeois values in the new continent (Atia 22 23). A gold rush is when a numerous amount of individuals migrate to a specific region to get hold of newly discovered gold in pursuit of riches. SURVEILLANCE: A CURSE TO PRIVACY What does privacy means? Privacy can be defined as that area of a man s life which, in any given circumstances, a reasonable man with an understanding of the legitimate needs of the community would think it wrong to invade (Aquilina, 2010). For example, when people walk on street or play in parks, shop in a public market place, study or talk on phone in public library, they want it to be free in doing all this. There are several instances where a judge may call for statues to be interpreted. For example, when there is failure in legislation on a particular point such as, change in the use of language. When there is a form of ambiguity in the statue it can lead to a dispute. Mean a dispute can arise when a statue can have more than one meaning which, could affect the outcome of a case dependent on which meaning they use to interpret the statue. However, statue in the 18th century, used words which has different meanings. Which, was illustrated in the case of Cheeseman v DPP. The defendant was witnessed masturbating in public toilet by the police officers. However, Under The Town Police Clauses Act 1847 , stated that they must be a passenger. On the other hand, The Public Health Amendment Act 1902, stated that the word, street could mean any public places under the control of local authority which were the police officers. The Police Clauses Act stated the word, passenger could have different meanings but, in this case they believed that it could mean a, foot passenger also, the police were not travelling at the time they saw the defendant and he could not be arrested under these circumstances. Victorian period Victoria s long reign saw a growth in literature, especially in fiction, practiced notably by Dickens, Thackeray, the BrontГ«s, George Eliot, Trollope, James, and Hardy. Victorian is a term that is often extended beyond the queen s reign (1837 1901) to include William IV s reign from 1830. Historian distinguishes early, middle, and late Victorian England, corresponding to periods of growing pains, of confidence in the 1850s, and of loss of consensus after 1880, a date which offers a convenient division: Charles Dickens (1812 70), and Oscar Wilde (1854 1900) belonged to different ages. • 43. Essay On The Movie Coraline In terms of plot, the movie adaptation of Neil Gaiman s Coraline is extremely true to the source material. It still tells the story of a young girl who grows unappreciative of her real family and finds a magical door in her new home that leads to a better, fantastical version of the family she has now. The creepiness and scary moments are also true to form, with this world being only a copy of the real world, created by the Other Mother in an attempt to trap Coralineforever. The quest to rescue the three ghost children is almost exactly the same, with two of their souls being found in Miss Spink and Forcible s theater and Mr. B s circus. But since the movie added a scene in which an enticing garden is used as an item to gain Coraline s trust in the Other Mother s fake world, one of the ghost souls was placed in this location instead. Another major difference between the book and the movie is the addition of the character Wybie. He acts as a source of inside knowledge about The Pink Palace and helps kill the Other Mother s hand at the climax of the movie, while in the book Coraline gathered her information about her home from her parents as well as Miss Spink and Forcible, and killed the Other Mother s hand by tricking it rather than crushing it. The use of stop motion animation was also a benefactor in bringing this terrifying story to a visual format, as stop motion tends to look uncanny and unsettling at times. Both works are masterpieces of writing and storytelling, and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

From an administration perspective a common theme with regard to challenges involves the point at which families enter the system as there is a lack of a systematic effort as there is not a protocol in place at point of registration. • 45. Traditional Fine Arts Response To Futurism The Machine Aesthetic Traditional Fine Arts Response to Mechanisation Marinetti addressed the death of traditional art in his Futurist Manifesto of 1909 when he stated Why should we look back, when what we want is to break down the mysterious doors of the Impossible? Time and Space died yesterday. We already live in the absolute, because we have created eternal, omnipresent speed (2001 21 2). Marinetti, among with artists of the Futurist, Vorticist and Constructivist movements of the 20th century, believed that mechanisation was fundamental to creating a new future where machines played a vital role in modern society. The traditional style of painting and sculpture in accordance to Futurist principles had no place in this new future. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Kulten discusses how Epstein destroyed The Rock Drill (1913 15) because in its complete form, it was almost too symbolic and in order to cope with his work, had to reduce it to an aesthetic work only (1969 65). Epstein took the synthetic man and removed the legs and parts of the arms, leaving only the torso which he cast into a bronze bust in 1916. Having been involved in sculpture his entire artistic career, Epstein reverted back to the traditional methods of creating sculptures in order to gain familiarity in his work again. As a result of returning to traditional themes, Epstein s work lost a majority of the revolutionary aspects that made The Rock Drill (1913 15) an important work for the recurring theme of mechanisation that enveloped society in the early half of the 20th century (Kulten, 1969 65). Torso in Metal from The Rock Drill (1916) is an important work to consider when exploring the machine aesthetic, as it is the expression of a frightful artist, unable to cope with the mechanical world, thus turning his greatest creation into a lifeless bust with minimal meaning or ... • 46. Scout Finch Dbq In the book To Kill a Mockingbird Scout Finch is the narrator (DBQ Project, p.7). She tells about the different things that happened in the town of Maycomb, Alabama during the 1930s (DBQ Project, p.7). She also talked about the people in the town. Scout talked about a specific trial that completely rocked the town. The case involved a white girl named Mayella Ewell and an African American man named Tom Robinson (DBQ Project, p.7). Mayella Ewell had no friends, she was poor, and because of her gender was not looked at as superior, although under those circumstances she was able to have influence within the case based on her class, gender, and race (DBQ Document A, p.13). The trial was based off of Mayella Ewell, who accused... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... She was able to use her class, race, and gender in different ways to help win over the jury in her case with Tom Robinson (DBQ Project, p.7). Her class showed her vulnerability, but it did not show that by going through this process it would change her class, gender, and race. It brought to attention that no matter her win or loss in court, she was still going back to her bad home life (DBQ Document A). Her race helped her being that she was white, Tom was African American, and the jury was white (DBQ Document A). No black man had been able to win a case with a white jury (DBQ Document A). Mayella s gender allowed her to be vulnerable and a victim of falling for a man that just interacting with on a normal basis could get her in trouble in which she went over that boundary (DBQ Project p.7). Her gender in court puts her in the spot of looking like a victim of a crime that she lied about in order to save herself (Lee, p.252). In either case an innocent man was wrongly accused of a crime and the one accusing him would be going straight back to a life filled with misery (DBQ Document B). In reality nobody won the ...
