Hip Hop Politics, Class Unity And The Internet
In this essay, the influence of hip hop politics, class unity and the internet will be explored to discover
how the consumer became an active producer of culture. In the early days of hip hop, particularly
from its mainstream origins in the 70 s (Dimitriadis 2009) up until the 90 s, the underground scene
rarely floated into the mainstream. Despite a good portion of the underground consisting of
consumers, to achieve mainstream success one would need the right connections and musical
equipment. Before these tools became affordable and accessible, the consumer wasn t integrated as an
active producer of culture. Thus the average consumer wasn t capable of making major waves in the
industry. In some respect, the mainstream producer carried a sense of prestige because there were only
a few who garnered attention in the mainstream such as DJ Premier and Eric B and Rakim (Tom
Terrell, 1998). During the early origins of hip hop, as Josh Kun describes, hip hop was mainly a facet
of African American culture. As a result, many consumers from other backgrounds weren t majorly
included in developing the hip hop culture. This, however, changed when icons such as Run DMC and
Aerosmith broadened the scope of hip hop and allowed more consumers to play an active role in
producing the culture. The popularity of the internet rose in the early 2000 s and it allowed the
consumer to actively shape the culture. The internet allowed the consumer to create their own sounds
and message and deliver it

system administrators. Robert Morris got arrested 1989, and became the first person to be indicted

A Study on Professional Learning Communities
Professional Learning Communities
Abstract
PLC means professional learning communities which are set up by teachers in order to help the
students who seem to be lagging behind the others academically. This is a way to reach out to the
students on a more personal level, where they get to interact not only with the books, but also with the
teachers who are able to guide them by recognizing their strengths and their weaknesses. This form of
assistance goes a long way in assisting the student develop a positive attitude towards studies and have
the zeal to excel by having a personal coach present to guide them whenever they get stuck or make a
mistake. This is a very encouraging way of ensuring homogenous learning in today s academic
institutions. The parents of the poorly performing students themselves seem grateful for the attention
given to their young ones, as it is any parent s dream to see their children excel academically, and at
the same time get value for their money.
Introduction
There have been studies carried out on this issue of PLC, as to whether it is functional not only in
theory, but also in practical, especially in a real school setting. For this reason, this essay will show
why this document best highlights this issue.
Professional Learning Communities
First of all, this study used a multiple case study in three schools that were below the required
standards and to find out how the theoretical ideas were being implemented in their practical
application.

Analysis Of A Sound Of Thunder
Aidan Dolinar
Mrs. Kelley Weakely
Honors English
Period 5
9/30/15
The Coward s way A Sound of Thunder (Ray Bradbury) and The Lottery (Shirley Jackson) are both
connected through a specific quality that characters in both stories contain. That quality is the inability
to make good decisions. When faced with alarming or stressful situations, Eckels, Travis, and the
townsfolk in the lottery, make bad decisions. The townsfolk blunder through their life, blindly
following the unjust tradition to stone someone to death each year. Eckels and Travis are both
cowards, and cowards tend to make bad decisions because they are selfish. Both stories are connected
by these cowardly people that make bad decisions. The lottery townsfolk are put under pressure by not
a person, but by tradition. Tradition makes them scared, and fear blinds people. Traditions can have
many beginnings, but ones such as this, with no positive result, are simply a terrible decision.
However, the townsfolk believe in tradition, and this pressures them into going along with this
horrible idea. When Mrs. Hutchinson is chosen, she also makes a bad decision. Fear can cause denial,
which, in Mrs. Hutchinson s case, can lead to your death. Instead of turning tail and running from her
fate, she stands and lets the other townsfolk surround her, simply saying, It isn t fair, it isn t right, (The
Lottery). Then simply letting the other townsfolk kill her

Essay On Hamster s Closed Circulatory System
By comparing the carbon dioxide output of a cricket to that of a hamster, we observed that on a per
gram basis, the cricket s carbon dioxide output was significantly lower than the hamster s. The
difference in carbon dioxide output in the two species may have been caused by the absence of lungs
in insects, which in contrast, is a key organ of a mammal s respiratory system. In a mammal, the lungs
function in the respiratory system by providing a large surface area for incoming oxygen to enter and
the removal of carbon dioxide gas from the mammal s body providing highly efficient respiration. In
contrast to mammals, insects obtain required oxygen for respiration through a series of small openings
called spiracles that are found in the insect s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In open circulatory systems, blood flows freely around the body cavity; in insects, the circulatory
system is not used for transporting oxygen. In contrast, the hamster s closed circulatory system
separates blood from the tissues, and oxygen is transported efficiently to all of the cells while carbon
dioxide is transported out of the cells. Insects generally have a lower metabolic rate and do not require
a continuous supply of oxygen, which may explain the lower carbon dioxide output (as carbon dioxide
is removed from an organism s body when oxygen enters). Hamsters require a continuous supply of
oxygen in a systematic way in order to ensure that every cell obtains oxygen; therefore, it may explain
why the hamster had a significantly greater carbon dioxide output. Furthermore, studies have shown
that by exposing red flower beetles (Tribolium castaneum) to low oxygen concentrations, they reduced
their respiration rates to survive, which may suggest that by having an open circulatory system, they
do not require a large amount of continuous oxygen to sustain life (Emekci et al.

The Great Salad Oil Swindle
The $150 million (approximately $1.2 Billion in 2017) fraud detailed in The Great Salad Oil Swindle
is considered a classic in fraud auditing. The exposé was published in 1965 by Wall Street Journal
reporter Norman Miller and earned him a Pulitzer Prize, the highest achievement in American
journalism. The story of perpetrator Anthony De Angelis, known by his associates as Tino , is unique
because of the extreme disassociation from reality by all parties involved, which consequently created
the extraordinary opportunity necessary for a fraudster to evade being caught. The great magnitude of
the swindle justifies the need for adequate internal controls and regulatory oversight, and shows how
disaster can transpire when these necessary ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Obviously, Tino s ego was bloated from the beginning and would be a large factor in the swindle he
would perpetrate two decades later. Spurred by increased responsibilities from marriage and the birth
of his son, Tino turned his enterprising mind into overdrive, founding M D Hog Cutters with borrowed
money. Unlike the candy store, Tino s new venture proved wildly successful. Incredibly, Tino had
turned a $2000 investment into $100,000 in the very first year. Tino was only twenty three years old,
and his ego was even larger. He claimed he was such a big shot that he was able to avoid the draft as
he was such an important pork supplier to the army and that he prospered greatly during the war
Anthony claimed that increased wealth didn t change his personal life, but allowed him to further his
charitable efforts. For example, Tino started giving away seeing eye dogs and bicycles (Miller 15). For
Tino, his success during the war was not because of his patriotic efforts in supplying the army with
pork. According to sources close to De Angelis at that time, Anthony s hog cutting company prospered
because it was built entirely on black market meat sales (Miller 16). Yet, Tino recounts his early
wealth as patriotic and charity driven. It is internal narratives such as these that reinforce the
rationalization for fraud. Typically, and as is seen many times from De Angelis story, a fraudster s ego
convinces them

A New Form of Expansion Essay
A New Form of Expansion
Before the start of the Spanish American War of the late nineteenth century and World War I in the
early twentieth century, the United States had encouraged expansion as being a way of gaining power.
For example, the Frontier thesis, conveyed that it is through the expansion of new lands that humanity
would continue to progress. Also the United States portrayed its impatience to expand through
Manifest Destiny: the desire to expand from sea to sea with the goal to own and cultivate as much land
as possible. However, as the late nineteenth and early twentieth century appeared, America
experienced a change. It grew from an ambitious, power seeking country, to the ... Show more content

Also, in John Hay s First and Second Open Door Notes, he promotes the United States necessity for
equal trade with China, which was the U.S main attempt to solve foreign issues, peacefully. Once
more, through Senator Albert J. Beveridge s Speech to 56th Congress, he claims that the Pacific is our
ocean….And the Pacific is the ocean of the commerce of the future…The power that rules the
Pacific, therefore, is the power that rules the world (Doc E). Throughout this time, the theory of the
United States dream of Manifest Destiny and its sole desire of expansion supports the idea that the
purpose of expansionism, is for foreign dominance thus, the more land you have, the more power you
control.
The United States interfered with foreign affairs whenever necessary to keep order. As shown through
the Annual Message to Congress, Theodore Roosevelt conveys that if it (a nation) keeps order and
pays its obligations, it need fear no interference from the United States (Doc F). The Platt Amendment
of 1901 specified the conditions under which the U.S could intervene in Cuba s internal affairs; stating
that Cuba could not make a treaty with another nation that might impair its independence. Secondly, it
was through the approval of the 1898 Treaty of Paris, that the Spanish American War ended and

Business Cycle Of Recession Essay
The business cycle of the GDP rising and falling all over again is surely how the economy behaves
and since today we have not been able to explain exactly why and how to stop it. Business cycles are
composed by 4 different periods; expansion, peak, contraction and trough. Every period of economic
growth and prosperity, is usually followed by a recession. The duration of each cycle varies sometimes
8 years or even 10 but the order is always the same. Recession are very harmful for the standards of
living and economists try at all cause to avoid them (Boyes Melvin, 2016). Recession is defined as a
period of about six months that economy declines significantly. According to Amadeo, there are 5
economic indicators that will drop when a recession take place; real GDP, ... Show more content on

Big businesses would try to lower their expenses by stop hiring or even cut the personal, which we
saw previously with unemployment. Furthermore, businesses would cut costs by stop buying new
equipment or eliminate advertisings which eventually would affect big and small companies involved
as well. And that is how the cycle begins. Other problem companies and industries face are that
because of the lousy economy recession carries, costumers might be delayed with their debts to the
company. Consequently, the company pays late their own debts which can result in reducing the
valuation of the corporation s debt and its ability to obtain financing. The companies that cannot pay
their loans may enter in reorganization or get out of business. On the other hand, small businesses get
yet worse than big businesses. Without big cash reserves and capital assets it makes it harder for these
businesses to survive the recession (Davis, 2016). In conclusion, that is how many businesses get in
bankrupt during the recessions. In the chart below is the data about the rate of bankruptcies in the

3 Reflex Arcs Research Paper
A three neuron reflex arc consists of a receptor, a sensory (afferent) neuron, and a motor (efferent)
neuron. The reflex arc is designed to help keep the body safe, and is the mechanism that permits
immediate responses to danger related stimuli. A conduction pathway of a reflex arc consists of the
motor neuron innervation of the peripheral nervous system, and at least one association neuron from
the central nervous system. After the conduction pathway, an impulse follows. The reflex arc is
composed of a sensory receptor, sensory nerve, integrating center, motor nerve, and effector organ.
The sensory receptor detects the presence of a stimulus in the skin, muscle, or other organ. The
sensory neuron, which is also the afferent neuron, carries sensory information to the central nervous
system. The integrating center is found only in gray matter of the central nervous system in the brain
or spinal cord. This is where information is processed, and the motor command to stimulate the
effector is initiated. The motor neuron, also called the efferent neuron, carries the motor command to
the effector organ. Finally, the effector organ carries out the response to the stimulus, which may be to
a muscle, gland or adipose tissue. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Analysis Of Honesty Pass It On
In a fast paced stream of events through alleys and with a police car, all underscored by the Black
Eyed Peas song, Where is the Love, we watch the drama unfold and wonder if the young man is
stealing or returning the purse, until the last triumphant moment. (Values.com). Honesty. What does
this mean to you? In 2012 the organization Values aired a commercial named Honesty, Pass It On.
Although this commercial is slightly aged, the message couldn t be more powerful. The Values
commercial I chose to analyze shows that honesty is the most important value that we possess because
it allows people to trust us. I believe that being honest allows people to grow and advance further into
the best life possible.
The minute long commercial was first aired in 2012 to teach its audience that honesty is a trait that
everyone should possess. In the commercial, in Honesty Pass It On, there is a boy and a woman sitting
at a bus stop. The boy is simply loitering and listening to music while the woman is awaiting her bus.
The boy is first perceived as an average street thug or punk rock, skater boy. As the bus arrives, the
woman rises from her seat and accidentally leaves her purse. As average minded people of society, it
is automatically assume that the boy will snatch her purse and run with it. The producer of the
commercial wants the audience to think that. Values desires for the audience to quickly think the boy
is robbing the woman of her personal belonging. They do this by

the store in search of his button. He is dedicated to finding his button, but he is not the only dedicated
one. Lisa goes home and empties her piggy bank and her mother lets her bring Corduroy home. The
theme of hard work is shown in Corduroy s determination to find his button and Lisa s determination
to bring Corduroy home. The theme of friendship is between Corduroy and Lisa. They may not know
each other, but Lisa still wants to make Corduroy her friend. You must be a friend, said Corduroy, I ve

Essay On Frankenstein
Mary Shelley is one of the best known authors of gothic literature. Her most famous work is the horror
novel Frankenstein which she wrote at the early age of 20. Since she was so young when writing the
novel, it is interesting to ask for her ideas and the source of inspiration for the content of her story. In
literary studies, Roland Barthes theory says that the author and so his or her life should not be the
reference point for an analysis (Jannidis et al. 182). Nevertheless in some stories, the traces of the
author are so strong and important that they cannot be ignored when analysing the story. Therefore,
this essay will examine the traces of Mary Shelley s biography in Frankenstein with reference to

Shelley s stepmother did not want the children to be highly educated due to her own only average
education. Shelley probably educated herself through reading a lot and the comings and goings of
such rare personalities as Lamb and Coleridge to the house (Sparks 13). This might serve as an
argument why books and reading are often mentioned in Frankenstein. Education is also important for
Victor Frankenstein. He studies in Germany and becomes a scientist with deep knowledge in this area.
Not only for Victor, education also plays a major role for other characters. For example, Elizabeth is
sad because she [has] not the same opportunities of enlarging her experience, and cultivating her
understanding (Shelley 106) when Victor leaves to visit France, the Netherlands, Scotland and
England. So even for a woman, knowledge was desirable. Due to the lack of a high education, it might
be that Shelley was not able to speak any foreign languages. She might come to terms with it and the
probable wish to speak other languages through the detailed description of the acquisition of a
language (Shelley 74 79). In conclusion, one can see that education played a key role in Shelley s life
even if she was not allowed to take part in it as much as she would have

Long Term Effects Of Hunger In Africa
Africa was identified as the world s poorest inhabited continent. We waste over 30 million pounds of
food a year. That food that we waste can go to African. To help people in need of food. This year,
nearly 9 million children younger than five years old will die needlessly, more than half from hunger
related causes. Chronic hunger affects more than 925 million people in the world and is, in and of
itself, a potentially deadly condition. Poor people do not have the resources whether land, tools or
money needed to grow or buy food on a consistent basis. People in African starve each day. Not every
poor person is hungry, but almost all hungry people are poor. More and more kids die each day of
thirst and starvation. Millions live with hunger and malnourishment because they simply cannot afford
to buy enough food, cannot afford nutritious foods or cannot afford the farming supplies they need to
grow enough good food of their own.
What s it like to live a life of an African? Similarly, women in hunger are so deficient of basic

people to flee their homes, leading to hunger emergencies as the displaced find themselves without the
means to feed themselves. More than one million people, mostly children under the age of five, die
every year from malaria. Malarial deaths in Africa alone account for 90 percent of all malaria deaths
worldwide. Eighty percent of these victims are African children. The U.N. Millennium Project has
calculated that a child in Africa dies from malaria every 30 seconds, or about 3,000 each day. There

It was Werner s third son, Carl Friedrich, who continued in his father s tradition of being ahead of his
time in business. Carl started to rebuild the company after the First World War by concentrating and
focusing the company direction based on its expertise and withdrawing from non traditional areas of
business. Carl was also responsible for various strategic alliances, mergers and acquisitions during his
time at the helm. Siemens was the first company that ever posted sales figures in excess of 1 billion
Marks. In the 1930s and 1940s Siemens was the largest electrical company in the world despite the
Great Depression. Due to its strong family values Siemens managed to survive the devastating Second
World War in which nearly 80 per cent of its assets were lost and through some decisive management
and its belief in people the company turned into the largest employer in Germany in the 1960s and
1970s. Today Siemens operates in 190 countries, has nearly half a million employees and still believes
that employees and innovation are its strongest assets. The success speaks for the effective
management of the company, which had sales exceeding A75 billion and profits exceeding A2 billion

Like any other school there were the cool kids and the not so cool kids and like most people I longed
for the feeling of fitting in. I tried so hard to buy the right clothes and to talk the right way. I became
so caught up in my own life that I did not take a second to stop and think of someone other than
myself. Last year, in eight grade, I had the chance to be apart of the it group, but during that time I lost
myself. Peer pressure had pushed me into a corner where I was unable to think for myself and as a
result I lost my ability to establish my character. The group I had faked my way into was called black

The State Of Maryland Was Considered A Border State
During The War Between the States, the State of Maryland was considered a border state. This was
because Maryland did not have a majority of its people backing either the Union or the Confederacy.
In addition, it was geographically located between the Northern free states and the Southern slave
states. Maryland was a dichotomy before the Civil War as the state had almost as many free blacks as
it did slaves. In early 1861, almost 84,000 free Negroes were identified while more than 87,000 black
and mixed race individuals were listed as slaves. Maryland was made up of merchants and business
people in the central and western parts of the state with primarily farmers and slaveholders in the east
and south. The merchant class, gaining control of the state legislature, felt that a war with the North
would be economically devastating and could destroy their businesses. That was one of the main
reasons Maryland did not initially join the Confederacy. In addition, the state legislature felt they d be
unable to protect their border with Pennsylvania, also known as the 244 mile long Mason Dixon Line,
from a Union invasion. They also feared a blockade of Baltimore Harbor by the Union Navy. While
the business faction supported the Federalist philosophy of Washington and the North, many
Marylanders sided with the State s Rights agenda of the South. This schism caused massive upheaval
in the state and many Southern sympathizers moved to Virginia and North Carolina when the state

Wells Fargo Bank Embezzlement System
Embezzlement is an act withholding assets for the purpose of conversion of such assets, by one or
more persons to whom the assets were entrusted, either to be held or to be used for specific purposes.
Embezzlement is a type of financial fraud. a lawyer might embezzle funds from the trust accounts of

Swastika Movie Analysis
This view is completely wrong. The movie does not show a divided community at all. In the later part
of the movie, we see that the majority of the town residents actually supported the removal of the
swastikas from the church s design. When the church reopened after the renovation, a huge number of
people showed up to the church to celebrate the fact that the swastika had been removed. Many were
emotional about it and said that they had wanted the swastika removed from the church for a very long
time but they never said anything.
Another positive thing this movie showed was how easily the Christian and Jewish communities
cooperated about removing the swastika from the church. Officials from the church and temple Israel
campaigned together to get the swastika removed. This shows that the issues involving race and
diversity are not that divisive at all. Almost everyone agrees ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The Physics Of A Wave
Introduction
As seen in the previous laboratory experiment, standing waves are produced when a wave and its
reflection are superposed. When a wave travels on a string we notice places of maximum amplitude
called antinodes, and regions of no amplitude at all, that we call nodes. When the medium in which
the wave travels is air instead of a string, similar observations are made. In this case, the antinodes are
regions of maximum compression in the air column, while the nodes are those regions which have the
lowest compression or pressure. These regions are sometimes called regions of rarefaction. In this
experiment, we used a Vernier microphone, a labquest, and PVC tubes to study waves in a column of
air.
Description of Set Up
The setup of this experiment was fairly easy. Firstly, the temperature probe and the microphone were
fixed to a ring stand and connected to the labquest; the labquest was itself connected to the CPU.
Photo 1. From here, the logger Pro was launched. The temperature reading was recorded (20.7 o C in
our case) and the microphone background reading was noted. As this point, the use of the temperature
probe was over, and so it was disconnected from the labquest.
Photo 1.
Outline of Technique
The length and diameter of a PVC pipe were measured. These measurement are recorded in table 1.
The system was programmed to start data collection the moment the noise level is 0.2 above the
background noise. Then, the PVC pipe was held perpendicular to the microphone

United States Postal Service Essay
Mail has been around since the beginning of the United States and was once the number one way to
communicate with others far away. Now in modern days, the United States Postal Service(USPS) is
outdated and considered inferior to other communication tools like email or text messaging. The
people of today fancy the fast and artless rout of communication, but the old fashioned, hand written
letter can be resurrected if vital changes are made to the United States Postal Service (source F). The
USPS should modernize itself to catch up with today s world and remain as a source of jobs and
services to the people of the United States.
The USPS needs to give itself a makeover to make it compatible with the needs and wants of today s
world. Just like how there is nothing as gratifying as holding a physical newspaper provided by the
respectable old New York Times which is still thriving there is nothing like receiving a wonderful
heartfelt letter in the mail, benevolently delivered by the USPS who is striving to stay alive. The
reason that the New York Times can still stand at the top of their world is because they modernized
themselves because they were losing to their online rivals, so they changed by not just offering a
physical product, but an online one as well just as the USPS should do to turn the old pony express
into a sleek, 21st century money maker just like the NYT has done (source A). It is time for the USPS
to augment their services because [getting] money orders,

Moral courage is the selfless act of putting others before yourself. Rudolf Vrba demonstrated that idea
wonderfully. Vrba risked being caught by the Germans again by giving different governments
diagrams of the gas chambers. He knew that the right thing to do was to fight for the people of his
religion and try to save as many people as he could. He fought for his ideas to be known and brought
out proof of the horrors of the Holocaust. He used his experience as an example of how cruel the
Germans truly were and wanted countries to fight against them to set people free. Rudolf Vrba could
have escaped Auschwitz and just hid forever and never come out about what he went through. Most
importantly, he used his escape as a second chance. He used that second chance to the fullest by
fighting for what was right. I think this man showed the whole world what courage really was and

Solution Focused Therapy And Experiential Therapy
This term paper is about solution focused therapy and experiential therapy. In solution focused
therapy, the therapy does not emphasize the problem at all; it stresses and highlights the solution. The
client is the expert and not the therapist. The experiential approach is often used to facilitate
meaningful changes in individuals. SFBT is a short term goal focused therapeutic approach which
directs clients to focus on developing solutions, rather than on dwelling on problems. The theoretical
framework, how change occurs, therapeutic techniques, postmodern perspective, the role of the

My Family Therapy Models Term Paper on Solution Focused Therapy and Experiential Therapy
Family therapy is a technique that has many alternative approaches to every aspect of treatment which

family therapy in which I feel that I would be most effective and comfortable with would be,
experiential family therapy and solution focused brief therapy. I feel most comfortable with these
models because, I adapt to the role of the therapist of both therapies naturally. According to Nichols

Hence, a is square modulo of M. Also, P and Q are congruent to 3 mod 4, ( 1/P)=( 1/Q)= 1 Thus, a or a
will be Quadratic Residues modulo P and Q. Only authority can determine the square root of modulo
M and provide it to Alice. Here, we call it r r=a^((M+5 (P+Q))/8) mod M Where, r^2=a mod M or
r^2= a mod M If Bob wants to send data to Alice, he will generate a Transport key and perform
Symmetric Key Encryption using that key. Then, he sends it to Alice bit by bit. Let s say, x is the
single bit of transport key, coded as +1 or 1. Bob will choose a value t at a random modulo M, such
that Jacobi Symbol (t/M)=x Then, he sends s=(t+a/t)mod M to Alice Alice recovers the bit x as
follows, s+2r=t (1+r/t)* (1+r/t) mod M Also, it follows Jacobi Symbol ((s+2r)/M)=(t/M)=x Here,
Alice knows the value of r, using that she will calculate value of x Bob need to double up the Key data
as he is not aware whether Alice uses root of a or a. He will select random t to send x bits, and send s=
(t a/t)mod M. There is no way to avoid sending this extra amount of data. [2] Practical Implementation
Aspects: System is not very much expensive in terms of computation. If transport key is K bits long,
then Alice need to compute K Jacobi Symbols and Bob will need to compute K divisions mod M and
K Jacobi Symbols. Issue: Each bit of Transport key requires size up to M for bandwidth. Bob Does not

The Gilded Age During The Gilded Age
When Mark Twain coined the term Gilded Age for the years 165 1900 he was doing more than giving
a sarcastic name to this time period. Twain ingeniously combined both the era s widespread corruption
with its tremendous growth. It was a time of political upheaval, western expansion, transitioning roles
of women, increased education, new forms of media, and urbanization, although while all of those
factors were significant parts of the the time, one industry and technology saw a startling and almost
unbelievable shift to its industry. During the Gilded Age the United States went through one of its
biggest, most influential periods of growth and discovery in its history, although along with the
tremendous expansion came huge companies arose unmatched in their size and corruption.
Following the tumultuous Civil War the atmosphere was ribe in America for unbelievable expansion
and growth. The war had practically devastated the agricultural based South, with the South s finances
being reduced to almost nothing. Confederate bonds had become worthless and because of this the
South couldn t industrialize and nearly the same pace as the North. All these factors, coupled with
slaves recently being freed from bondage led to a immigration into the North s urban economy.
Further there was huge immigration from abroad at this time to America major cities like Chicago and

Analysis Of A Flower Garden By Li Bai
This poem creates a scene in which the poet, Li Bai is sitting alone under the moonlight as he sips on
his drink and can share his loneliness with no one but the moon and his shadow. By pointing out that
he is at a flower garden with moonlight shined upon him and a pot of wine by his side, the setting of
the poem is rather pleasant and relaxing. The poet, however, appears to be frustrated because he has
no real friends who are there for him. With a quick thought, Li Bai decides to think the moon and his
shadow as his companion and meanwhile starts to sing and dance with them. The fact that neither the
moon nor his shadow is animated does not bother Li Bai as he slowly gets more involved in the
atmosphere he created for himself, or, in his words, it makes us [them] three . From there on, the poet
does not care about what other people think of him anymore and instead starts to live his life the way
that will not leave behind any regrets. In order to achieve such impression and create an image for the
readers, Li Bai incorporates myriad rhetorical devices in the writing of the poem. Out of all techniques
being used, imagery is one that appears throughout the poem. The poem opens up with an image of a
flower garden a which indicates the poet s location and sets the tone for the slight twist in emotion in
next couple of lines of the poem. The poet s mentioning of his loneliness sharply contrasts the setting
in which both wine and flowers are supposed to bring a sense of prosperity and happiness. Moving on,
the fourth and fifth lines express Li Bai s loneliness by creating an image of the faraway moon and his
shadow. The line states that the moon is too far away to enjoy the wine with Li Bai, and his shadow
cannot communicate with or truly comprehend the poet. Li Bai s use of the phrase creeps about my
heels to describe the behavior of his shadow is interesting thoughtful, showing that even though the
shadow is very close to him in distance, Li Bai feels as if all the shadow does is blindly following him.
Considering Li Bai s experience of rejecting the government official s position in Chang an the capital
of China because of his unwillingness to sacrifice his entire life for the Royals monetary

Hannibal Lecter Animal Roles
The distinction between human and animal has always been blurred in NBC s Hannibal. The TV
show, written and produced by Bryan Fuller, acts as a modern day prequel to the events that take place
in Thomas Harris s series about the fictional serial killer Hannibal Lecter. In this TV series, Hannibal
the cannibal Lecter has not been caught yet though Will Graham, an FBI consultant, knows he is a
dangerous man who must be stopped.
In episodes nine ( Shiizakana ) and ten ( Naka Choko ) from the second season, the story of Randall

Randall Tier s vicious mauling of his victims almost seems tame in comparison except that in order to
kill, Tier must become an animal through the use of his exoskeleton suit. Tier s character, whose last
name already categorizes him as an animal in a playful yet blunt reference, questions the very
limitations of the categories human and animal. He asks, through the donning of his animal suit, how
exactly we perform our humanity and how we perceive the animals around us. Like Franz Kafka s ape
in the short story, Report to An Academy, Randall Tier is a liminal figure, trapped inside his body and
inside other s perceptions of what being an animal means. Borrowing from old tropes in Thomas
Harris s early work on the character Buffalo Bill, Randall Tier also represents the stasis of the
psychiatric discourse which seeks to pathologize his need for transcendence by placing him on a
spectrum of Sane/insane and quantifying his condition in science, which eventually leads to his
downfall and death. In the same way that Red Peter addresses a fictitious academy in the Kafka story

  • 2. Hip Hop Politics, Class Unity And The Internet In this essay, the influence of hip hop politics, class unity and the internet will be explored to discover how the consumer became an active producer of culture. In the early days of hip hop, particularly from its mainstream origins in the 70 s (Dimitriadis 2009) up until the 90 s, the underground scene rarely floated into the mainstream. Despite a good portion of the underground consisting of consumers, to achieve mainstream success one would need the right connections and musical equipment. Before these tools became affordable and accessible, the consumer wasn t integrated as an active producer of culture. Thus the average consumer wasn t capable of making major waves in the industry. In some respect, the mainstream producer carried a sense of prestige because there were only a few who garnered attention in the mainstream such as DJ Premier and Eric B and Rakim (Tom Terrell, 1998). During the early origins of hip hop, as Josh Kun describes, hip hop was mainly a facet of African American culture. As a result, many consumers from other backgrounds weren t majorly included in developing the hip hop culture. This, however, changed when icons such as Run DMC and Aerosmith broadened the scope of hip hop and allowed more consumers to play an active role in producing the culture. The popularity of the internet rose in the early 2000 s and it allowed the consumer to actively shape the culture. The internet allowed the consumer to create their own sounds and message and deliver it ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Computer Fraud And Abuse Act completely dead (Lee, 2013). The Morris worm exploits two major vulnerabilities: a flaw in the debug mode of UNIX sendmail program and a flaw in the fingered network service. The worm was designed to go to every computer to check if it s affected, and duplicate itself automatically. The self duplication expedited loads of systems and finally crashed them, and of course, this feature would also alarm system administrators. Robert Morris got arrested 1989, and became the first person to be indicted under the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act. However this punishment didn t hurt his career too much, he is now tenure in MIT since 2006 (Lee, 2013). • 5. Analysis Of A Sound Of Thunder Aidan Dolinar Mrs. Kelley Weakely Honors English Period 5 9/30/15 The Coward s way A Sound of Thunder (Ray Bradbury) and The Lottery (Shirley Jackson) are both connected through a specific quality that characters in both stories contain. That quality is the inability to make good decisions. When faced with alarming or stressful situations, Eckels, Travis, and the townsfolk in the lottery, make bad decisions. The townsfolk blunder through their life, blindly following the unjust tradition to stone someone to death each year. Eckels and Travis are both cowards, and cowards tend to make bad decisions because they are selfish. Both stories are connected by these cowardly people that make bad decisions. The lottery townsfolk are put under pressure by not a person, but by tradition. Tradition makes them scared, and fear blinds people. Traditions can have many beginnings, but ones such as this, with no positive result, are simply a terrible decision. However, the townsfolk believe in tradition, and this pressures them into going along with this horrible idea. When Mrs. Hutchinson is chosen, she also makes a bad decision. Fear can cause denial, which, in Mrs. Hutchinson s case, can lead to your death. Instead of turning tail and running from her fate, she stands and lets the other townsfolk surround her, simply saying, It isn t fair, it isn t right, (The Lottery). Then simply letting the other townsfolk kill her ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Essay On Hamster s Closed Circulatory System By comparing the carbon dioxide output of a cricket to that of a hamster, we observed that on a per gram basis, the cricket s carbon dioxide output was significantly lower than the hamster s. The difference in carbon dioxide output in the two species may have been caused by the absence of lungs in insects, which in contrast, is a key organ of a mammal s respiratory system. In a mammal, the lungs function in the respiratory system by providing a large surface area for incoming oxygen to enter and the removal of carbon dioxide gas from the mammal s body providing highly efficient respiration. In contrast to mammals, insects obtain required oxygen for respiration through a series of small openings called spiracles that are found in the insect s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In open circulatory systems, blood flows freely around the body cavity; in insects, the circulatory system is not used for transporting oxygen. In contrast, the hamster s closed circulatory system separates blood from the tissues, and oxygen is transported efficiently to all of the cells while carbon dioxide is transported out of the cells. Insects generally have a lower metabolic rate and do not require a continuous supply of oxygen, which may explain the lower carbon dioxide output (as carbon dioxide is removed from an organism s body when oxygen enters). Hamsters require a continuous supply of oxygen in a systematic way in order to ensure that every cell obtains oxygen; therefore, it may explain why the hamster had a significantly greater carbon dioxide output. Furthermore, studies have shown that by exposing red flower beetles (Tribolium castaneum) to low oxygen concentrations, they reduced their respiration rates to survive, which may suggest that by having an open circulatory system, they do not require a large amount of continuous oxygen to sustain life (Emekci et al. ... • 7. The Great Salad Oil Swindle The $150 million (approximately $1.2 Billion in 2017) fraud detailed in The Great Salad Oil Swindle is considered a classic in fraud auditing. The exposé was published in 1965 by Wall Street Journal reporter Norman Miller and earned him a Pulitzer Prize, the highest achievement in American journalism. The story of perpetrator Anthony De Angelis, known by his associates as Tino , is unique because of the extreme disassociation from reality by all parties involved, which consequently created the extraordinary opportunity necessary for a fraudster to evade being caught. The great magnitude of the swindle justifies the need for adequate internal controls and regulatory oversight, and shows how disaster can transpire when these necessary ... Spurred by increased responsibilities from marriage and the birth of his son, Tino turned his enterprising mind into overdrive, founding M D Hog Cutters with borrowed money. Unlike the candy store, Tino s new venture proved wildly successful. Incredibly, Tino had turned a $2000 investment into $100,000 in the very first year. Tino was only twenty three years old, and his ego was even larger. He claimed he was such a big shot that he was able to avoid the draft as he was such an important pork supplier to the army and that he prospered greatly during the war Anthony claimed that increased wealth didn t change his personal life, but allowed him to further his charitable efforts. For example, Tino started giving away seeing eye dogs and bicycles (Miller 15). For Tino, his success during the war was not because of his patriotic efforts in supplying the army with pork. According to sources close to De Angelis at that time, Anthony s hog cutting company prospered because it was built entirely on black market meat sales (Miller 16). Yet, Tino recounts his early wealth as patriotic and charity driven. It is internal narratives such as these that reinforce the rationalization for fraud. A New Form of Expansion Essay A New Form of Expansion Before the start of the Spanish American War of the late nineteenth century and World War I in the early twentieth century, the United States had encouraged expansion as being a way of gaining power. Also the United States portrayed its impatience to expand through Manifest Destiny: the desire to expand from sea to sea with the goal to own and cultivate as much land as possible. Business Cycle Of Recession Essay The business cycle of the GDP rising and falling all over again is surely how the economy behaves and since today we have not been able to explain exactly why and how to stop it. The reflex arc is designed to help keep the body safe, and is the mechanism that permits immediate responses to danger related stimuli. A conduction pathway of a reflex arc consists of the motor neuron innervation of the peripheral nervous system, and at least one association neuron from the central nervous system. After the conduction pathway, an impulse follows. The reflex arc is composed of a sensory receptor, sensory nerve, integrating center, motor nerve, and effector organ. The sensory receptor detects the presence of a stimulus in the skin, muscle, or other organ. The sensory neuron, which is also the afferent neuron, carries sensory information to the central nervous system. The integrating center is found only in gray matter of the central nervous system in the brain or spinal cord. This is where information is processed, and the motor command to stimulate the effector is initiated. This was because Maryland did not have a majority of its people backing either the Union or the Confederacy. In addition, it was geographically located between the Northern free states and the Southern slave states. Maryland was a dichotomy before the Civil War as the state had almost as many free blacks as it did slaves. In early 1861, almost 84,000 free Negroes were identified while more than 87,000 black and mixed race individuals were listed as slaves. Maryland was made up of merchants and business people in the central and western parts of the state with primarily farmers and slaveholders in the east and south. The merchant class, gaining control of the state legislature, felt that a war with the North would be economically devastating and could destroy their businesses. That was one of the main reasons Maryland did not initially join the Confederacy. In addition, the state legislature felt they d be unable to protect their border with Pennsylvania, also known as the 244 mile long Mason Dixon Line, from a Union invasion. They also feared a blockade of Baltimore Harbor by the Union Navy. This important message striked the Negro community with no alternative other than to fight for their rights as citizens and human beings. • 32. Swastika Movie Analysis This view is completely wrong. The movie does not show a divided community at all. In the later part of the movie, we see that the majority of the town residents actually supported the removal of the swastikas from the church s design. When the church reopened after the renovation, a huge number of people showed up to the church to celebrate the fact that the swastika had been removed. Many were emotional about it and said that they had wanted the swastika removed from the church for a very long time but they never said anything. Another positive thing this movie showed was how easily the Christian and Jewish communities cooperated about removing the swastika from the church. Officials from the church and temple Israel campaigned together to get the swastika removed. This shows that the issues involving race and diversity are not that divisive at all. • 33. The Physics Of A Wave Introduction As seen in the previous laboratory experiment, standing waves are produced when a wave and its reflection are superposed. When a wave travels on a string we notice places of maximum amplitude called antinodes, and regions of no amplitude at all, that we call nodes. When the medium in which the wave travels is air instead of a string, similar observations are made. In this case, the antinodes are regions of maximum compression in the air column, while the nodes are those regions which have the lowest compression or pressure. These regions are sometimes called regions of rarefaction. In this experiment, we used a Vernier microphone, a labquest, and PVC tubes to study waves in a column of air. Description of Set Up The setup of this experiment was fairly easy. Firstly, the temperature probe and the microphone were fixed to a ring stand and connected to the labquest; the labquest was itself connected to the CPU. Photo 1. From here, the logger Pro was launched. The temperature reading was recorded (20.7 o C in our case) and the microphone background reading was noted. As this point, the use of the temperature probe was over, and so it was disconnected from the labquest. Photo 1. Outline of Technique The length and diameter of a PVC pipe were measured. These measurement are recorded in table 1. The system was programmed to start data collection the moment the noise level is 0.2 above the background noise. Then, the PVC pipe was held perpendicular to the microphone ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Now in modern days, the United States Postal Service(USPS) is outdated and considered inferior to other communication tools like email or text messaging. The people of today fancy the fast and artless rout of communication, but the old fashioned, hand written letter can be resurrected if vital changes are made to the United States Postal Service (source F). The USPS should modernize itself to catch up with today s world and remain as a source of jobs and services to the people of the United States. The USPS needs to give itself a makeover to make it compatible with the needs and wants of today s world. Just like how there is nothing as gratifying as holding a physical newspaper provided by the respectable old New York Times which is still thriving there is nothing like receiving a wonderful heartfelt letter in the mail, benevolently delivered by the USPS who is striving to stay alive. The reason that the New York Times can still stand at the top of their world is because they modernized themselves because they were losing to their online rivals, so they changed by not just offering a physical product, but an online one as well just as the USPS should do to turn the old pony express into a sleek, 21st century money maker just like the NYT has done (source A). In solution focused therapy, the therapy does not emphasize the problem at all; it stresses and highlights the solution. The client is the expert and not the therapist. The experiential approach is often used to facilitate meaningful changes in individuals. SFBT is a short term goal focused therapeutic approach which directs clients to focus on developing solutions, rather than on dwelling on problems. The theoretical framework, how change occurs, therapeutic techniques, postmodern perspective, the role of the therapist and some clinical examples are given in this term paper. My Family Therapy Models Term Paper on Solution Focused Therapy and Experiential Therapy Family therapy is a technique that has many alternative approaches to every aspect of treatment which Nichols (2014), states may present a challenge when describing a basic technique. • 38. Quadratic Residues Essay An Identity based Encryption Scheme based on Quadratic Residues Introduction: In Public Key Crypto system, it is required to know the Public Key of Receiver to encrypt the messages. So that receiver can decrypt the message using his/her own private key. This system needs to maintain directories which holds Public Keys of each user. To eliminate the need of maintaining such directories, this paper suggests computing the public key using receiver s identity such as Email address. However, implementation of such system which is secure and practical, is difficult. The system uses Quadratic Residues modulo a large composite integer. [2] What is Quadratic Residues? If m and a are coprime integers, then a is called a quadratic residue modulo ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Hence, a is square modulo of M. Also, P and Q are congruent to 3 mod 4, ( 1/P)=( 1/Q)= 1 Thus, a or a will be Quadratic Residues modulo P and Q. Only authority can determine the square root of modulo M and provide it to Alice. Here, we call it r r=a^((M+5 (P+Q))/8) mod M Where, r^2=a mod M or r^2= a mod M If Bob wants to send data to Alice, he will generate a Transport key and perform Symmetric Key Encryption using that key. Then, he sends it to Alice bit by bit. Let s say, x is the single bit of transport key, coded as +1 or 1. Bob will choose a value t at a random modulo M, such that Jacobi Symbol (t/M)=x Then, he sends s=(t+a/t)mod M to Alice Alice recovers the bit x as follows, s+2r=t (1+r/t)* (1+r/t) mod M Also, it follows Jacobi Symbol ((s+2r)/M)=(t/M)=x Here, Alice knows the value of r, using that she will calculate value of x Bob need to double up the Key data as he is not aware whether Alice uses root of a or a. He will select random t to send x bits, and send s= (t a/t)mod M. There is no way to avoid sending this extra amount of data. [2] Practical Implementation Aspects: System is not very much expensive in terms of computation. If transport key is K bits long, then Alice need to compute K Jacobi Symbols and Bob will need to compute K divisions mod M and K Jacobi Symbols. Issue: Each bit of Transport key requires size up to M for bandwidth. Bob Does not know whether Alice uses square root of a or a, hence, he must ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 40. Analysis Of A Flower Garden By Li Bai This poem creates a scene in which the poet, Li Bai is sitting alone under the moonlight as he sips on his drink and can share his loneliness with no one but the moon and his shadow. By pointing out that he is at a flower garden with moonlight shined upon him and a pot of wine by his side, the setting of the poem is rather pleasant and relaxing. The poet, however, appears to be frustrated because he has no real friends who are there for him. With a quick thought, Li Bai decides to think the moon and his shadow as his companion and meanwhile starts to sing and dance with them. The fact that neither the moon nor his shadow is animated does not bother Li Bai as he slowly gets more involved in the atmosphere he created for himself, or, in his words, it makes us [them] three . From there on, the poet does not care about what other people think of him anymore and instead starts to live his life the way that will not leave behind any regrets. In order to achieve such impression and create an image for the readers, Li Bai incorporates myriad rhetorical devices in the writing of the poem. Out of all techniques being used, imagery is one that appears throughout the poem. The poem opens up with an image of a flower garden a which indicates the poet s location and sets the tone for the slight twist in emotion in next couple of lines of the poem. The poet s mentioning of his loneliness sharply contrasts the setting in which both wine and flowers are supposed to bring a sense of prosperity and happiness. Moving on, the fourth and fifth lines express Li Bai s loneliness by creating an image of the faraway moon and his shadow. The line states that the moon is too far away to enjoy the wine with Li Bai, and his shadow cannot communicate with or truly comprehend the poet. Li Bai s use of the phrase creeps about my heels to describe the behavior of his shadow is interesting thoughtful, showing that even though the shadow is very close to him in distance, Li Bai feels as if all the shadow does is blindly following him. He asks, through the donning of his animal suit, how exactly we perform our humanity and how we perceive the animals around us. Like Franz Kafka s ape in the short story, Report to An Academy, Randall Tier is a liminal figure, trapped inside his body and inside other s perceptions of what being an animal means. Borrowing from old tropes in Thomas Harris s early work on the character Buffalo Bill, Randall Tier also represents the stasis of the psychiatric discourse which seeks to pathologize his need for transcendence by placing him on a spectrum of Sane/insane and quantifying his condition in science, which eventually leads to his downfall and death.
