Pursuing A Career In Theatre Education
Hey there, everyone! As the Christmas season comes to a close, I thought it was time for me to do
another post about theatre education. Earlier in the year, I did a few posts on education, including a
quiz about what theatre major to choose in college, out of state schools for theatre, and why it is
important to participate in youth theatre.
Today, I wanted to do a post about the diverse theatre personnel. A lot of time when people think about
theatre, their minds immediately jump to actors, director, producers, costume designers, etc.
Obviously, those jobs are extremely important, but there are other jobs in theatre are essential to the
creation of a successful show.
Today, we will be focusing on pre production. Next week will be production ... Show more content on

However, make up design like costume design is very specific and although degree programs don t
really exist for it, technical programs do, so training in one of these stage makeup programs although
not necessarily required is incredibly useful.
Actor/actress portrays the characters created by the playwright. Interprets the role, keeping true to the
vision of the director.
Many colleges offer BFAs in Acting, but a large percentage of general Theatre BAs have acting
concentrations as well.
It is important for actors to understand the technical positions as well.
Thank you for reading and learning! Tune in next week for a list of theatre jobs directly involved in
show time!

Choline Supplementation

Choline Supplementation
During pregnancy, there are so many vitamins and minerals your doctor recommends you take that it
can make anyone feel overwhelmed. Luckily for people like me, they ve made these wonderful things
called pre natal vitamins that can make anyone s life easier by not having to track how much of what
you ve taken and when. Pre natal vitamins give you the vitamins and minerals one needs during
pregnancy in order to meet the mother s and the fetus needs and can have added nutrients you may
need because you may not consume enough of a certain nutrient in your diet. One of the nutrients your
pre natal vitamins can contain is choline.
Choline is a nutrient your body naturally produces. But ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One reasons is that children born with the benefits of choline intake during pregnancy also have
negative side effects. In Choline Baby, Prenatal Choline News and Discussions, Choline During
Pregnancy May Super Charge Children s Brains for Life, the writer refers to these children as choline
kids, and states that these choline kids have a higher thresholds for fear, meaning that it takes a lot
more for a choline kid to be afraid of a situation than a non choline kid. The writer states that this is a
positive thing, however because research is now showing that the less fear a child has tends to put him
or her at a higher risk for aggressive behavior, which the writer has states he or she (sex of the writer
is not revealed in the article) has witnessed in his or her children. Additionally, this site refers to a
study, which found that taking 800 milligrams a day during pregnancy does nothing to improve a child
s memory or language. However, the study provided the pregnant mothers with a type of choline, not
the actual choline supplement and only tested the children at 10 and 12 months for language skills,
general development, and long and short term memory, so there were no additional test to test the
theory or any long term follow ups to match the results from the study on pregnant rats previously
mentioned. It must be said, that Cholinebaby.com was the only website I found with something
negative to say about taking

Exploring Identity In The Harlem Renaissance
Exploring Identity in the Harlem Renaissance During the 1920s, black literature and culture exploded
in a movement known as the Harlem Renaissance, which at its forefront directly challenged white
stereotypes that defined black perception in society. Thus, one major focus during this movement was
to recreate and define a new identity for black Americans through the lens of art. Two poets attempted
such a feat and, in their works, argued for an identity centered on the authentic roots and customs of
African American culture. As evidenced by I, too, Theme for English B, and The Melting Pot, Hughes
and Randall assert that black racial identity should not be sequestered, but instead should be embraced
in society. Langston Hughes, in I, too ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, in I, too, (Appendix A) the speaker refers to himself as the darker brother, seeking equal
rights and demanding change from his white peers (Hughes 2). Hughes emphasizes that his identity is
shaped by being the racially darker one, and also notes that he is connected to his white brethren,
despite variations in race. After company arrives, the speaker is sent to the kitchen: And I laugh / And
eat well / And grow strong (Hughes 5 7). Often, as a social norm, when guests are invited over to the
household, there is a tendency for hosts to put their best foot forward; in the 1920s, this translated into
pure whiteness and no blacks. Ironically, though, as the speaker is cast out society, his identity as an
black male grows, and this culminates to the speaker s demand to be identified as an American citizen,
too singing America (Hughes 1). As summed up by the Poetry Foundation, Hughes s tragedy was
double edged: he was unashamedly black at a time when blackness was demode, and he didn t go

Charles Dickens Hard Times

Mr. Johnson
Literature
Dickens Calls for Desperate Measures in Hard Times I want to change the world. How many times is
that line heard from small children, aspiring to be someone who achieves their maximum potential? If
a child is asked how they might go about doing so they might respond with an answer that involves a
superhero or princess who helps people for the greater good. As one grows and adapts to their
surrounding society, the art of seeing the big picture including its flaws is often lost. This is because
there is no hope of changing new philosophies or ideas that have taken over the world, even if they re
wrong. There was a man, however, who never lost the instinctual calling to change the world when it
needed changing. Using his own weapon of a pen, Charles Dickens wrote the fictional novel Hard
Times to warn people of the world they were living in and inspire them to change it. Through the
novel, Hard Times, Charles Dickens reflects the many matters that are in need of managing in his
present society. He illustrates the movement of the societal dystopia through the interaction of morally
lost characters and their demanding surroundings. He addresses many controversial issues, but the
most prevalent are the flaws in the class system, utilitarianism and the detrimental effects of
industrialization. Set in the grim Victorian industrial city of Coketown, this societal branch of northern
England falls under the influences of the

Robinson And Owens, African American Allstars Essay
Robinson and Owens, African American Allstars There are many people in the world who have made
an impact on America. Many people are known for their strength ,courage, and willingness to fight for
their beliefs. That is what Jackie Robinson and Jesse Owens have in common; they fought for what
they believed in. They broke color barriers, set records, and changed American history. Although they
bear some minor similarities, the differences between Jackie and Jesse are clear. Jackie Robinson s
background and childhood environment had a major impact on the ways he went about changing
African American lives. He is famous for saying that a life is not important except in the impact it has
on other lives (Jackie 1). Jack (Jackie) Roosevelt Robinson is famously well known for becoming the
first black player in the major leagues and playing with the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1947. He was born
on January 31, 1919, in Cairo, Georgia. He also was the youngest of five children and he was raised

Benefits Of Playing With Toys
Did you play with toys? Do you remember which was your favorite toy or game? Surely most of you
do. You have special memories for some of them, don t you? Unfortunately, most of the today s
children do not remember their beloved toy from last year or do not want to play with it anymore.
Two are the reasons they are not interested and do not play with the same toy for a long time parents
buy more often new playthings, so they become easily bored. If we could see the world through the
kids eyes, what could we see? Everywhere toys blink, wink and expect to grab them.
There are numerous benefits of playing with toys they really can bring joy, learning, and creativity.
They are the main tools which help our inheritors to grow, discover their identity and develop their
imagination. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Ask yourself: Should we follow this tendency to buy the most modern devices or unnecessary things?
Do your children need the new toy, or it will be added somewhere in the toy bucket?
It is scientifically proven, people need one two new things per week to satisfy their needs. And the
easiest way to get rid of this unhelpful for both sides habit is to establish rules of buying, which could
improve youngsters discipline and behavior. You can specify a day of the week the toy day, when you
can buy only one special and good toy, so your kid to expect and deserve it. To make it like a game
with a surprise. In this way, we help our children to choose useful games, this will lead them to find
new ways to play with the old ones.
It is clear, toys play an irreplaceable role for the better health and development of every child.
Let toys prepare our children for life but not to quit out their early ages. As though there is a contest
between our parental responsibilities and those of the toys. Staying behind the toy scene, maybe we
should understand children are not those who need this plenty of toys, but their busy

KLGO is a part of the North American Northwest Coast environmental region, also known to
geographers and geologists as Cascadia (Ames and Maschner 1999). The park maintains ecological
importance. Lynn Canal is a saltwater fjord which pierces deep into the heart of the Coast Mountains.
The Taiya and Skagway valleys provide short pathways to glacier free mountain passes connecting to
the continental interior. KLGO remains the northernmost and furthest inland conduit for ecological
exchange between the coastal rainforest ecosystem and the interior continental ecosystem. The park
contains a variety of habitats including coastal rainforest, subalpine, and alpine. Each habitat is
diverse, unique, and relates to its neighboring community.
The diversity of plant and animal species in the Upper Lynn Canal remain among the highest in
Alaska. Subarctic alpine, boreal forest, north coast forest, and marine systems converge at KLGO and
the park hosts species assemblages found nowhere else in the world. Vegetation distribution is

A Brief History Of The Mayan Civilization
A BRIEF HISTORY OF THE MAYAN CIVILIZATION Michael Costa History 157: History of Latin
America May 8, 2015 Mayan civilization peaked too early to impress the Spanish in the manner of the
Inca and Aztec empires. The great Mayan ceremonial centers visited by modern tourists were all in
ruin when the Spanish arrived in the 1500s. In fact, the highpoint of Mayan imperial organization was
almost a thousand years earlier. Mayan city states were located in high mountains, in densely forested
tropical lowlands, and on the arid Yucatán peninsula. Like the Mexicas (and other indigenous people
of central Mexico), the Maya built stone pyramids, but they did not dedicate any to human sacrifice.
Mayan cities contained ball courts where opposing teams tried to get a rubber ball through a stone
hoop. The game was not a sport, but a ritual, and often a matter of life and death. Mayan writing,
composed of symbols called glyphs, was the most elaborate created by any indigenous civilization. In
an attempt to eradicate Mayan indigenous religious belief, the Spanish conquistadors burned large
collections of Mayan writings. The Mayan language lives on today, but its linguistic fragmentation
mirrors the political fragmentation of the city states. Modern Mayan is a family of languages, rather
than a single language. Quiché and Mam, two modern Mayan languages, are no more alike than
English and German or French and Italian. Life was good to those lucky

The Importance Of Reflection In Nursing
As higher standards expected are from the public and higher patient safety demands are expected from
health boards, therefore, there is a need for a way of measuring standards of practice which can be
achieved through active thinking in a clinical environment brought about by critical reflection (Rolfe,
Jasper Freshwater 2011). Reflection has become such a key component in the role of a nurse that the
Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) have seen it fit to include it in their professional code of
conduct the Code: Professional Standards of Practice and Behaviour for Nurses and Midwives,
hereafter referred to as the Code (Nursing Midwifery Council [NMC], 2015). With reflection being a
vital skill for nurses to continue their professional development (Parrish Crookes, 2013), an analysis
of what it means to reflect within nursing is needed by all who intend to enter the profession to ensure
its effective use is applied. This essay will look at what reflection in nursing looks like, why we use
reflection as a tool, what are the outcomes of reflecting, how we reflect effectively and what skills are
needed. Then, using an experience within practice, a reflective model will be used to analyse a critical
incident relating to consent. In accordance with the confidentiality measure within The code (NMC,
2015) and to abide by the Data Protection Act 1998, no information will be provided which could
allude to the identity of anyone within the critical incident, thus pseudonyms will be used where
appropriate. According to Howston Jones (2013) reflection is not something that is out of the ordinary
for everyone to do in their everyday lives. Reflection is the act of looking back on a situation, event or
incident critically and making sense of it to learn from it and alter our actions to gain better outcomes
should the same incident arise again (Capelhow, Crouch, Fisher Walsh, 2013). As new experiences
happen to everyone, everyday; it would be right to consider reflection as an ongoing process within
everyone s life, a process that is repeated, honed and a skill to be developed (McKenna, 1998).
Reflection is a tool that is used within many disciplines including teaching and within the legal
profession

Code Of Ethics In Managed Care
Managed Care Organizations (MCO) developed to maintain the financial responsibility and the
provision of care by instituiting the gatekeeper mentaliy (Feldman et al. 1998). As primary care
physicians maintained the role of the gatekeeper, issuing referrals to patients as deemed necessary,
physicians also became uncomfortable in the given roles. In the beginning of medicine, physicians
were valued as the most moral member of society. However, as healthcare became more business
oriented with MCOs providing incentives for minimizing care, MCOs lost the morality necessary for
trust in healthcare.
Initially, physicians as a whole were not excited about the reform exhibited by the managed care
systems (Bereson 1991). In the article, Physician

Uk Financial Services Act Of 2012

guidelines for management of the banking sector and other supervisory roles in the financial services

therefore, it is expected to be responsible for the occurrences in the financial system and how financial

The FPC has mandates with different bodies, it is responsable for directing the other two committees
(PRA and FCA) on the matters to do with the macro prudential regulations as well as making the

financial stability (Noked, 2013). Indeed, the FPC is within the Bank of England. Apart from
identifying risks that could possibly affect the sector, the committee makes sure that they are
addressed in the best possible way. An important feature of the FPC is that it has the power to increase
the capital that banks in the UK should have during a certain period of time according to the state of
the economy (UK Government, 2015).
Impacts of the Prudential Regulatory Authority
The Prudential Regulatory Authority (PRA) is the macro prudential regulatory body, which is
expected to ensure that there is a well regulated structure for deposit takers, insurance bodies and the

entities, which is expected to be attained via preventing unfavourable effects of their activities or of
the financial sector as a whole. Furthermore, the PRA is in charge of reducing the effects of

The Stains of Watergate
On June 17, 1972, security guard Frank Wills became a national hero. At twenty four years old, he
was working the midnight shift at the Democratic National Committee (DNC) headquarters at the
Watergate complex in Washington, D.C. He discovered tape over a basement door lock and thinking
none of it, he removed the tape. On another inspection round, he found the lock taped over again and
called the police. They locked the doors, turned off the elevators, and started checking darkened
offices. At 2:30 a.m. on the 6th floor of the Watergate complex, the police discovered five men who
were identified as the Plumbers Unit on orders by The Committee to Re elect the President (CREEP)
to burglarize the DNC. The men, one who was an ex CIA agent, were convicted of conspiracy,
burglary, and illegal wiretapping. However, what started as a third rate burglary unravelled into a
broad network of political corruption and espionage within the Nixon administration that became
known as Watergate. Before the summer of 1972, the term Watergate meant nothing more than a
luxurious complex in Washington, D.C., but because five highly cunning men were somehow caught
by an average, $80 per week security guard, it became associated with the greatest political scandal of
the century and many more after that. The Watergate scandal proliferated public skepticism of and
mistrust in the federal government, and an angry American public called for immediate response. The

Analysis Of The Prince By Niccolo Machiavelli
Mankind has never answered this age old question: Is man inherently good? There are different
arguments for both sides, however most would agree that humans should strive to be good.
Interestingly, Niccolo Machiavelli in his work The Prince would disagree. Written for the Medici
lords, The Prince offers advice on how to obtain and rule a principality. To do this, he must first
explain the nature of man and adjust the method of ruling them accordingly. Machiavelli believes
humans by nature are corrupt, so the Prince must also be corrupt to succeed. In order to prove
Machiavelli s opinion, it is first necessary to understand what he defines as success. Machiavelli
believes that for a prince to be successful he must maintain rule over his ... Show more content on

Therefore, success for Machiavelli is sustaining power over a principality. Next it must be proved that
Machiavelli believes men by nature are cruel and corrupt. When talking about the necessity of cruelty
in leaders, he says, a man who wants to make a profession of good in all regards must come to ruin
among so many who are not good (p.61). Here he seems to believe that the general populace is not
good. He does not allude to any choices that would cause this cruelty, so we can infer that he believes
humans by nature are corrupt. He discourses on qualities that are praised in a prince such as faith,
humanity, and honesty but laments that he cannot have them, nor wholly observe them, since human
conditions do not permit it (p.62). These human conditions that Machiavelli refers to must be the
corruption of man, as there is no other reason for a prince to not observe these qualities. If men were
good, it would be obvious for a prince to rule with good virtues, but since they are not he must adjust
his morals to fit his people s. In addition to this, he teaches the prince to use one of two kinds of
combat when it comes to ruling the people: one with beasts and one with man. Having never
mentioned ruling animals before, the reader can conclude that he is referring to men who are wicked
by nature. He explains that one must use laws with man and force with

entertainment and animation companies in the world with international amusement parks and an
outstanding animation studio as well as a business franchise. It was founded in 1923 as a cartoon
studio in Kansas City and its mission is to Make people happy .
The Walt Disney Company history started when Ub Iwerks and Walter Elias Disney, after being fired

1926. It was in that studio that Walt Disney along with his staff in order to overcome the crisis that the
company was feeling after the Alice Comedies circumstance, that he designed a new character and
gave him a personality that endeared him to all, Mickey Mouse .
After the development and success of the new character, Walt Disney Studios became a global
reference. ( Mickey Mouse was actually going to be called Mortimer Mouse . However, Lillian
Disney, Walt s wife, did not like the name Mortimer because it was too depressing so they changed it
into Mickey because it was a happy and friendly name .) That is the reason why Walt Disney always
stated that It all started with a mouse . Initially, Walt was unable to sell the first two Mickey Mouse
cartoons because they were silent films. Therefore, they made a third Mickey Mouse cartoon, this time
with fully synchronized sound, the Steamboat Willie, which premiered at the Colony Theater in New

ways of thinking is that of the economist. From the economist s perspective, the focus is on production
and consumption. He may think: this is only hurting the environment a little bit, if there are
consequences they will be far down the road and we can deal with them once we are more financially
stable and have developed better technology. Nobody can argue with the economist for prioritizing in
such a manner, and Wilson attempts to reason out the logic noting, he is right, of course. Every species
lives on production and consumption... The economist s thinking is based on precise models of
rational choice and near horizon time lines. His parameters are the gross domestic product, trade
balance, and competitive index... The planet, he insists, is perpetually fruitful and still underutilized
(24). The economist is merely thinking in the way that he has been taught to think; he is logically
managing his immediate goals, but he is failing to utilize critical thinking to fully grasp the issue at
hand. Waiting until global warming is a more immediate threat and assuming that the damage will be
stoppable or treatable at that point are concepts that fail to take the immense risk into consideration.

The Link Between English Reading And Mathematics
I noted that historically, any link between English reading (Arts) and Mathematics skills (Science)
seems to have been at best a tenuous one. The issue brought into the public domain by C P Snow
(Rede Lecture 1959) where he claimed: The two cultures (Arts and Science) stare at each other with
mutual hostility and dislike... If this state of affairs was reflected in educational establishments of that
time the likelihood of any meaning full cooperation between those engaging in the teaching of reading
comprehension and mathematics would seem to be very remote indeed.
Thankfully, changes in opinion did occur over time and by the 1990 s interest in children s maths
skills also led to an increase in research into the association between ... Show more content on

He subsequently explains that it is the format for instruction that presents the difficulty. He
demonstrates if a given task is to calculate a mathematical problem and information is presented as
numbers with operational signs sequenced appropriately, children who understand algorithms can
proceed with ease. However, when the mathematical task to answer includes information that is
presented at the outset in words and sentences, pupils must first comprehend the text before they can
use the appropriate algorithmic skill. Obviously then even the best maths students cannot solve
problems they don t fully understand. Fuentes (1998) maintains the narrative of mathematical
problems tends to be compacted where mathematical concepts and relationships are often hidden,
implied or assumed and the pupil is left to expand and extract the true meaning. This is in marked
contrast to the narrative of storybooks which tends to be expansive and elaborate. In addition he notes
that the ambiguity found in the interpretation of for example, a poem may well be applauded however
any ambiguity in maths text interpretation simply means failure.
From research I have encountered thus far I must agree that good reading comprehension is essential
for interpreting mathematical texts. Baker (1995) and Christen and Murphy

Monotheism Vs Abrahamic Religion
Monotheism is the act of believing in one God. The three religions that practice monotheism are
Judaism, Christianity and Islam. Each of these religions have a direct link to Abraham; thus being
called the Abrahamic Religions. Judaism is linked to Abraham as he is proclaimed as the Patriarch of
the Jewish people and the Father of the Covenant. Likewise, Muslims view Abraham as the Father of
the Arab people as well as the Jewish people through his two sons, Isaac and Ishmael. Christians view
Abraham as the prototype of all believers, the Father of the Covenant and the Father of Isaac and
Ishmael. Sacred traditions are treated with both celebration and seriousness in the monotheistic
religions.
Just as God instructed Abraham 4000 years ago, a sacred Jewish ritual would be the circumcision of
all baby boys when they reach eight days of age. Another ritual is when families gather to welcome
the Holy day of the Sabbath. For a Jewish person, their religion is very much dedicating their lives to
God, where their whole life becomes an act of worship. The LORD would speak to Moses face to
face, as a man speaks with his friend. But after getting the 10 commandments Moses ... Show more

Humor In The Chahonesque
Introduction Humour is an universal human characteristic which all cultures posses. In the British
society it is important to have humour, because it is seen as demonstration of health and well
being.Humour firstly appeared in British literature during the Middle Ages, when Chaucer developed
the storytelling tradition along with the ironies that resulted from the juxtaposition of people from
different classes and points of view.Britain s ancient class system has always been a mystery to
strangers and a great source of humourfascination. In the past, the British were expected to know their
place .This means that British people accepted their status as working class, middle class or upper

Debeers s Diamond Dilemm A Case Study
DeBeers s Diamond Dilemma: A Case Study
Introduction
The DeBeers s group of companies is a leading diamond exploration, mining, retail and trading
company that was founded in 1888. The organization has its headquarters in Luxembourg and has
mining agreements in close to 30 countries inclusive of the world s leading diamond producers such as
South Africa, Botswana, Canada and Namibia (Cadieux, 2005). The company enjoys one of the
leading market shares in the natural diamond industry with a current share of around 40%. However,
this is a noted decline from past decades where it controlled up to 80% of the world s diamond supply
by the 1990s. The decline noted in its apparent monopoly was caused by a number of factors including
the rise of new suppliers outside of its control. Additionally, negative press threatened its reputation as
it was accused of unfair monopolistic and anti competitive practices, price fixing and even dabbling in
the supply and distribution of the controversial blood diamonds.
A more significant threat for the company has been the rise of the synthetic diamond market where
essentially real diamonds are manufactured within plants and don t have to undergo millions of years
of formation underground in addition to grueling extraction processes. These diamonds possess a lot
of quality while being sold at a fraction of the prices of natural diamonds and have seen a rise in
demand and in the total diamond market share. While DeBeers has played down the

The God Of Small Things And After The Quake
Question: What role does trauma play in any two texts studied this semester?
In both Arundhati Roy s The God of Small Things and Haruaki Murakami s After the Quake , trauma
plays a central role in shaping the novels and the lives of the characters. Both novels explore
individual trauma, and consider it in the context of larger scale traumas, such as that of collective
trauma, and traumatic incidents on a larger scale, such as the Kobe earthquake in After the Quake .
This focus insists upon the importance of the social and political context of events in shaping
individual s lives. In The God of Small Things , the construction of the narrative and personal lives of
the characters attempt to represent trauma and its aftermath, in which sensations, memories, and
scenes bleed into each other. Throughout the novel, a number of narrative threads weave in and out of
each other, allowing the novel to represent the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The individual traumas of the characters are contextualised within the wider collective traumas to a
society, and provide a critical viewpoint on the established structures of power, and importantly, as the
novel specifies, the rules which dictate love within the society. While The God of Small Things
becomes the expression of post trauma, reflecting the often it s multilayered and contradictory nature,
Murakami s After the Quake explores themes isolation and inertia in the context of modern society,
and, through the insistent intrusion of the Kobe earthquake into the lives of the characters, who
themselves are not living at the site of impact, insists upon the contextualisation of each character

What Is Rear Window Review
Rear Window Review Rear Window is a great thriller, and a great movie. It is thrilling and exciting
without having the overly serious tone of most other thrillers. Unlike other films of the genre there is
campy feel, yet that doesn t deter the edge of your seat feeling the this film creates. Rear Window is an
oddity, it s a light hearted murder mystery that takes place from one setting, yet very effectively pulls
the audience into the experience. There is a constant did he or didn t he feeling that keeps the viewer
guessing up until the final dramatic conclusions. This is a good thriller because it is effectively
suspenseful and exciting. It is a great film because it is fun, it s enjoyable. Rear Window is fun to
watch because it combines

Should Mr. Bennet Refuse To Try To Try To Stop Romance...
Questions: 1. Lady Catherine comes for a visit at Longbourn to try to stop romance between Elizabeth
and Darcy. She claims that her daughter and Darcy are intended for each other. Lady Catherine also
threatens that she will confront Darcy if Elizabeth should accept a proposal of marriage from him.
Elizabeth is now worried that Darcy might not return to Netherfield. 2. Mr. Bennet sees so much
humor in Mr. Collins s letter because the idea of Elizabeth and Darcy being together seems ludicrous
to him. This distresses Elizabeth because she was hoping that the family would approve of Darcy. 3.
Mr. Darcy regrets having had so much pride and prejudices when he first proposed to Elizabeth. He
has now learned from Elizabeth and has changed his behavior. ... Show more content on

When Lady Catherine determinedly tells Darcy of her visit to Elizabeth and all that was said, this only
makes things better for Darcy and Elizabeth. Darcy realizes how much Elizabeth has changed as well
as how he has changed himself. Considering the intentions of Lady Catherine, her meddling only sped
up the process of Darcy and Elizabeth getting together. 6. Mr. Bennet offers up some advice to
Elizabeth after giving Darcy his consent. He says that is it is important for Elizabeth to marry a man
for who he is not for material things. He wishes the best for Darcy and Elizabeth. Given his own
situation in life, this advice is important to him because he wants the best for his children. The Bennet
family is not the richest but now Elizabeth has the chance to experience some of it. 7. Lydia s marriage
with an indifferent husband and lack of money is a form of poetic justice. Happiness within a marriage
not ought to come from passion but from the knowing of one another. Unlike Lydia, Elizabeth took
her time with finding the perfect husband for her. 8. Kitty s character improves because of the
influence of her other sisters. This most likely happens because we would not want another one of the
Bennet daughters to marry like

The Importance of Music Education Essay
Imagine a world without music; it would be an extremely boring and quiet place to live. Music is
found in every kind of culture and has been used for thousands of years as a means of expression.
Music can deliver a message; it can be used as a vehicle for poetry; it can be appreciated for its
aesthetic qualities, or it can serve as nothing more than entertainment. Recently, many studies have
been conducted proving that music is vital to a child s education and development. However, many
school systems have had to make budget cuts, and one of the first things to be removed was the music
program. Music is important in education for many reasons. Recent studies have proven that taking
music classes at a young age helps a child to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When a group of musicians are playing a piece of music together and someone plays a wrong note or
rhythm, the mistake is obvious and causes the ensemble to sound bad. However, in many other aspects
of life achieving less than perfection can be acceptable. Ninety five percent is usually a very
acceptable score on school assignments, but in music if you miss five notes or rhythms of every 100
that you attempt, the music will sound horrible, especially if you multiply that level of performance by
every member of the ensemble. Learning to play a musical instrument is difficult and time consuming;
learning to read music can be as challenging as learning a second language, but the difficulty and
challenge of mastering these skills can allow a person to be expressive on many levels. Simply writing
words to a song and creating a tune to go with it can be a form of therapy that boosts self confidence.
As Anna sang to Louis in the musical The King and I , When ever I feel afraid, I whistle a happy tune!
According to a book entitled Getting Ready for College Early: A Handbook for Parents of Students in
the Middle and Junior High School Years:
Many colleges view participation in the arts and music as a valuable experience that broadens students
understanding and appreciation of the world around them. These activities help keep students time
more structured. It has been said, Idle hands are the devil s workshop. Involvement in extracurricular

Describe The Process Of Doing Squats
The process of doing squats involves a process of using muscles in bottom half of the torso. There are
primary muscles in doing squats which are the gluteus maximus, quadriceps, and hamstrings. The
gluteus maximus is the largest muscle in the body and covers each buttock. The origin of this muscle
is the sacrum, coccyx, and ilium. The insertion is the posterior surface of femur and fascia of the thigh
which helps to extend the thigh at the hip. The gluteus maximus helps to straighten the limb at the hip
when a person walks, runs, climbs, or squats. In the quadriceps femoris group there are four muscles
called the rectus femoris, vastus lateralis, vastus medialis, and vastus intermedius. The rectus femoris
muscle occupies the middle of the thigh ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The next quadriceps muscle is vastus lateralis which is the largest part of the quadriceps on the lateral
side of the femur and the origin is the greater trochanter and posterior surface of the femur. Another,
muscle is the vastus medialis which is on the medial side of the femur. Lastly, the vastus intermedius
is on the anterior and lateral surfaces of femur. The insertion of these muscles is the patella. All these
muscles helps extends leg at the knee. The last primary muscles are the hamstring group which
contain the biceps femoris, semitendinosus, semimembranosus, and sartorius. The biceps femoris has
two heads, one attached to the ischium and the other attached to the femur. This muscle s origin is the
ischial tuberosity and linea aspera of femur, while the insertion is the head of fibula and lateral
condyle of tibia. This muscle flexes and rotates the leg laterally and extends the thigh. The
semitendinosus is another muscle in the hamstring, it s a long, bandlike muscle on the back and medial
side of the thigh, connecting ischium to the tibia. It flexes and rotates the leg medially and extends the
thigh. The semimembranosus is the third hamstring muscle and is medially located in the back of the

  • 2. Pursuing A Career In Theatre Education Hey there, everyone! As the Christmas season comes to a close, I thought it was time for me to do another post about theatre education. Earlier in the year, I did a few posts on education, including a quiz about what theatre major to choose in college, out of state schools for theatre, and why it is important to participate in youth theatre. Today, I wanted to do a post about the diverse theatre personnel. A lot of time when people think about theatre, their minds immediately jump to actors, director, producers, costume designers, etc. Obviously, those jobs are extremely important, but there are other jobs in theatre are essential to the creation of a successful show. Today, we will be focusing on pre production. Next week will be production ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, make up design like costume design is very specific and although degree programs don t really exist for it, technical programs do, so training in one of these stage makeup programs although not necessarily required is incredibly useful. Actor/actress portrays the characters created by the playwright. Interprets the role, keeping true to the vision of the director. Many colleges offer BFAs in Acting, but a large percentage of general Theatre BAs have acting concentrations as well. It is important for actors to understand the technical positions as well. Thank you for reading and learning! Tune in next week for a list of theatre jobs directly involved in show time! Choline Supplementation BIO127IN August 1, 2013 Choline Supplementation During pregnancy, there are so many vitamins and minerals your doctor recommends you take that it can make anyone feel overwhelmed. Luckily for people like me, they ve made these wonderful things called pre natal vitamins that can make anyone s life easier by not having to track how much of what you ve taken and when. Pre natal vitamins give you the vitamins and minerals one needs during pregnancy in order to meet the mother s and the fetus needs and can have added nutrients you may need because you may not consume enough of a certain nutrient in your diet. One of the nutrients your pre natal vitamins can contain is choline. Choline is a nutrient your body naturally produces. But ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One reasons is that children born with the benefits of choline intake during pregnancy also have negative side effects. In Choline Baby, Prenatal Choline News and Discussions, Choline During Pregnancy May Super Charge Children s Brains for Life, the writer refers to these children as choline kids, and states that these choline kids have a higher thresholds for fear, meaning that it takes a lot more for a choline kid to be afraid of a situation than a non choline kid. The writer states that this is a positive thing, however because research is now showing that the less fear a child has tends to put him or her at a higher risk for aggressive behavior, which the writer has states he or she (sex of the writer is not revealed in the article) has witnessed in his or her children. Additionally, this site refers to a study, which found that taking 800 milligrams a day during pregnancy does nothing to improve a child s memory or language. However, the study provided the pregnant mothers with a type of choline, not the actual choline supplement and only tested the children at 10 and 12 months for language skills, general development, and long and short term memory, so there were no additional test to test the theory or any long term follow ups to match the results from the study on pregnant rats previously mentioned. It must be said, that Cholinebaby.com was the only website I found with something negative to say about taking ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Exploring Identity In The Harlem Renaissance Exploring Identity in the Harlem Renaissance During the 1920s, black literature and culture exploded in a movement known as the Harlem Renaissance, which at its forefront directly challenged white stereotypes that defined black perception in society. Thus, one major focus during this movement was to recreate and define a new identity for black Americans through the lens of art. Two poets attempted such a feat and, in their works, argued for an identity centered on the authentic roots and customs of African American culture. As evidenced by I, too, Theme for English B, and The Melting Pot, Hughes and Randall assert that black racial identity should not be sequestered, but instead should be embraced in society. Langston Hughes, in I, too ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example, in I, too, (Appendix A) the speaker refers to himself as the darker brother, seeking equal rights and demanding change from his white peers (Hughes 2). Hughes emphasizes that his identity is shaped by being the racially darker one, and also notes that he is connected to his white brethren, despite variations in race. After company arrives, the speaker is sent to the kitchen: And I laugh / And eat well / And grow strong (Hughes 5 7). Often, as a social norm, when guests are invited over to the household, there is a tendency for hosts to put their best foot forward; in the 1920s, this translated into pure whiteness and no blacks. Ironically, though, as the speaker is cast out society, his identity as an black male grows, and this culminates to the speaker s demand to be identified as an American citizen, too singing America (Hughes 1). As summed up by the Poetry Foundation, Hughes s tragedy was double edged: he was unashamedly black at a time when blackness was demode, and he didn t go much beyond one of ... • 5. Charles Dickens Hard Times May 1, 2015 Mr. Johnson Literature Dickens Calls for Desperate Measures in Hard Times I want to change the world. How many times is that line heard from small children, aspiring to be someone who achieves their maximum potential? If a child is asked how they might go about doing so they might respond with an answer that involves a superhero or princess who helps people for the greater good. As one grows and adapts to their surrounding society, the art of seeing the big picture including its flaws is often lost. This is because there is no hope of changing new philosophies or ideas that have taken over the world, even if they re wrong. There was a man, however, who never lost the instinctual calling to change the world when it needed changing. Using his own weapon of a pen, Charles Dickens wrote the fictional novel Hard Times to warn people of the world they were living in and inspire them to change it. Through the novel, Hard Times, Charles Dickens reflects the many matters that are in need of managing in his present society. He illustrates the movement of the societal dystopia through the interaction of morally lost characters and their demanding surroundings. He addresses many controversial issues, but the most prevalent are the flaws in the class system, utilitarianism and the detrimental effects of industrialization. Set in the grim Victorian industrial city of Coketown, this societal branch of northern England falls under the influences of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Two are the reasons they are not interested and do not play with the same toy for a long time parents buy more often new playthings, so they become easily bored. If we could see the world through the kids eyes, what could we see? Everywhere toys blink, wink and expect to grab them. • 12. A Brief History Of The Mayan Civilization A BRIEF HISTORY OF THE MAYAN CIVILIZATION Michael Costa History 157: History of Latin America May 8, 2015 Mayan civilization peaked too early to impress the Spanish in the manner of the Inca and Aztec empires. The great Mayan ceremonial centers visited by modern tourists were all in ruin when the Spanish arrived in the 1500s. In fact, the highpoint of Mayan imperial organization was almost a thousand years earlier. Mayan city states were located in high mountains, in densely forested tropical lowlands, and on the arid Yucatán peninsula. Like the Mexicas (and other indigenous people of central Mexico), the Maya built stone pyramids, but they did not dedicate any to human sacrifice. Mayan cities contained ball courts where opposing teams tried to get a rubber ball through a stone hoop. The game was not a sport, but a ritual, and often a matter of life and death. Mayan writing, composed of symbols called glyphs, was the most elaborate created by any indigenous civilization. In an attempt to eradicate Mayan indigenous religious belief, the Spanish conquistadors burned large collections of Mayan writings. The Mayan language lives on today, but its linguistic fragmentation mirrors the political fragmentation of the city states. Modern Mayan is a family of languages, rather than a single language. Quiché and Mam, two modern Mayan languages, are no more alike than English and German or French and Italian. Life was good to those lucky ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 14. The Importance Of Reflection In Nursing As higher standards expected are from the public and higher patient safety demands are expected from health boards, therefore, there is a need for a way of measuring standards of practice which can be achieved through active thinking in a clinical environment brought about by critical reflection (Rolfe, Jasper Freshwater 2011). Reflection has become such a key component in the role of a nurse that the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) have seen it fit to include it in their professional code of conduct the Code: Professional Standards of Practice and Behaviour for Nurses and Midwives, hereafter referred to as the Code (Nursing Midwifery Council [NMC], 2015). With reflection being a vital skill for nurses to continue their professional development (Parrish Crookes, 2013), an analysis of what it means to reflect within nursing is needed by all who intend to enter the profession to ensure its effective use is applied. This essay will look at what reflection in nursing looks like, why we use reflection as a tool, what are the outcomes of reflecting, how we reflect effectively and what skills are needed. Then, using an experience within practice, a reflective model will be used to analyse a critical incident relating to consent. In accordance with the confidentiality measure within The code (NMC, 2015) and to abide by the Data Protection Act 1998, no information will be provided which could allude to the identity of anyone within the critical incident, thus pseudonyms will be used where appropriate. According to Howston Jones (2013) reflection is not something that is out of the ordinary for everyone to do in their everyday lives. Reflection is the act of looking back on a situation, event or incident critically and making sense of it to learn from it and alter our actions to gain better outcomes should the same incident arise again (Capelhow, Crouch, Fisher Walsh, 2013). As new experiences happen to everyone, everyday; it would be right to consider reflection as an ongoing process within everyone s life, a process that is repeated, honed and a skill to be developed (McKenna, 1998). Reflection is a tool that is used within many disciplines including teaching and within the legal profession ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In the beginning of medicine, physicians were valued as the most moral member of society. However, as healthcare became more business oriented with MCOs providing incentives for minimizing care, MCOs lost the morality necessary for trust in healthcare. • 17. The Stains of Watergate On June 17, 1972, security guard Frank Wills became a national hero. At twenty four years old, he was working the midnight shift at the Democratic National Committee (DNC) headquarters at the Watergate complex in Washington, D.C. He discovered tape over a basement door lock and thinking none of it, he removed the tape. On another inspection round, he found the lock taped over again and called the police. They locked the doors, turned off the elevators, and started checking darkened offices. At 2:30 a.m. on the 6th floor of the Watergate complex, the police discovered five men who were identified as the Plumbers Unit on orders by The Committee to Re elect the President (CREEP) to burglarize the DNC. The men, one who was an ex CIA agent, were convicted of conspiracy, burglary, and illegal wiretapping. However, what started as a third rate burglary unravelled into a broad network of political corruption and espionage within the Nixon administration that became known as Watergate. Before the summer of 1972, the term Watergate meant nothing more than a luxurious complex in Washington, D.C., but because five highly cunning men were somehow caught by an average, $80 per week security guard, it became associated with the greatest political scandal of the century and many more after that. The Watergate scandal proliferated public skepticism of and mistrust in the federal government, and an angry American public called for immediate response. The widespread public mistrust and ... • 18. Analysis Of The Prince By Niccolo Machiavelli Mankind has never answered this age old question: Is man inherently good? There are different arguments for both sides, however most would agree that humans should strive to be good. Interestingly, Niccolo Machiavelli in his work The Prince would disagree. Written for the Medici lords, The Prince offers advice on how to obtain and rule a principality. To do this, he must first explain the nature of man and adjust the method of ruling them accordingly. Machiavelli believes humans by nature are corrupt, so the Prince must also be corrupt to succeed. In order to prove Machiavelli s opinion, it is first necessary to understand what he defines as success. Machiavelli believes that for a prince to be successful he must maintain rule over his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Therefore, success for Machiavelli is sustaining power over a principality. Next it must be proved that Machiavelli believes men by nature are cruel and corrupt. When talking about the necessity of cruelty in leaders, he says, a man who wants to make a profession of good in all regards must come to ruin among so many who are not good (p.61). Here he seems to believe that the general populace is not good. He does not allude to any choices that would cause this cruelty, so we can infer that he believes humans by nature are corrupt. He discourses on qualities that are praised in a prince such as faith, humanity, and honesty but laments that he cannot have them, nor wholly observe them, since human conditions do not permit it (p.62). These human conditions that Machiavelli refers to must be the corruption of man, as there is no other reason for a prince to not observe these qualities. If men were good, it would be obvious for a prince to rule with good virtues, but since they are not he must adjust his morals to fit his people s. In addition to this, he teaches the prince to use one of two kinds of combat when it comes to ruling the people: one with beasts and one with man. Having never mentioned ruling animals before, the reader can conclude that he is referring to men who are wicked by nature. He explains that one must use laws with man and force with ... Essay When the topic of global warming comes up in conversation many people either groan and avoid conversation, or don their dueling gloves and prepare for a heated debate. Some people feel guilty and concerned; some simply do not care. Different points of view yield different stances on the subject. Coming from the scientific and environmental points of view, myrmecologist Edward O. One of the main points of view that frequently opposes the environmentalist and ecologist ways of thinking is that of the economist. From the economist s perspective, the focus is on production and consumption. He may think: this is only hurting the environment a little bit, if there are consequences they will be far down the road and we can deal with them once we are more financially stable and have developed better technology. Nobody can argue with the economist for prioritizing in such a manner, and Wilson attempts to reason out the logic noting, he is right, of course. Every species lives on production and consumption... The economist s thinking is based on precise models of rational choice and near horizon time lines. His parameters are the gross domestic product, trade balance, and competitive index... The planet, he insists, is perpetually fruitful and still underutilized (24). The economist is merely thinking in the way that he has been taught to think; he is logically managing his immediate goals, but he is failing to utilize critical thinking to fully grasp the issue at hand. Waiting until global warming is a more immediate threat and assuming that the damage will be stoppable or treatable at that point are concepts that fail to take the immense risk into consideration. He demonstrates if a given task is to calculate a mathematical problem and information is presented as numbers with operational signs sequenced appropriately, children who understand algorithms can proceed with ease. However, when the mathematical task to answer includes information that is presented at the outset in words and sentences, pupils must first comprehend the text before they can use the appropriate algorithmic skill. Obviously then even the best maths students cannot solve problems they don t fully understand. Fuentes (1998) maintains the narrative of mathematical problems tends to be compacted where mathematical concepts and relationships are often hidden, implied or assumed and the pupil is left to expand and extract the true meaning. This is in marked contrast to the narrative of storybooks which tends to be expansive and elaborate. In addition he notes that the ambiguity found in the interpretation of for example, a poem may well be applauded however any ambiguity in maths text interpretation simply means failure. Each of these religions have a direct link to Abraham; thus being called the Abrahamic Religions. Judaism is linked to Abraham as he is proclaimed as the Patriarch of the Jewish people and the Father of the Covenant. Likewise, Muslims view Abraham as the Father of the Arab people as well as the Jewish people through his two sons, Isaac and Ishmael. Christians view Abraham as the prototype of all believers, the Father of the Covenant and the Father of Isaac and Ishmael. Sacred traditions are treated with both celebration and seriousness in the monotheistic religions. Just as God instructed Abraham 4000 years ago, a sacred Jewish ritual would be the circumcision of all baby boys when they reach eight days of age. The organization has its headquarters in Luxembourg and has mining agreements in close to 30 countries inclusive of the world s leading diamond producers such as South Africa, Botswana, Canada and Namibia (Cadieux, 2005). The company enjoys one of the leading market shares in the natural diamond industry with a current share of around 40%. However, this is a noted decline from past decades where it controlled up to 80% of the world s diamond supply by the 1990s. The decline noted in its apparent monopoly was caused by a number of factors including the rise of new suppliers outside of its control. Additionally, negative press threatened its reputation as it was accused of unfair monopolistic and anti competitive practices, price fixing and even dabbling in the supply and distribution of the controversial blood diamonds. A more significant threat for the company has been the rise of the synthetic diamond market where essentially real diamonds are manufactured within plants and don t have to undergo millions of years of formation underground in addition to grueling extraction processes.
