Diction In Ralph Waldo Emerson s Education
Emerson from Education is trying to spread his message that the current school education is not in the
perfect shape but rather in a broken state. Because of the problem, the students are not able to learn as
well. Emerson gets his message out by using diction to strengthen his position and Emerson also
appeals to pathos. In Education , Emerson uses diction as a way to keep audiences engaged in what he
is trying to argue. Emerson uses the words drill and labor to create a hostile tone which enhances his
message that the school system is broken (Emerson). The word drill in this context is used as an
aggressive move. The author uses the word drill instead of teaches because the word drill makes the
school seem like they are trying to

Graphene Is The Cutting Edge Material
Graphene is the cutting edge material in the field of nanotechnology materials. In recent years, the
single layer hexagonal shaped carbon has rocked the world of modern physics and material
engineering with its unique electronic properties and manufacturing cost. As a result, extensive
researches have been conducted over years in order to discover the new potentials of graphene. In this
review, the production method of graphene and the general properties are mentioned briefly. In
addition, the applications and drawbacks of the graphene are discussed below. Generally speaking,
graphene will be the most suitable candidate to replace silicon in all manners in manufacturing
electronic devices as now we are going beyond silicon ages.

The aim of this review is to introduce graphene as potential material in manufacturing electronic
devices. In this review, graphene properties, structure, forms of formations, productions techniques are
discussed briefly below. The advantages and drawbacks of the applications of graphene based
materials are being addressed briefly in this review. In general, graphene has emerged becoming one
of the most valuable innovation material in various fields in the meantime offers new insights of new
quantum physics that continue to amaze the public.
Forms of graphene
Graphene can exist in many forms such as bilayers, nanostripes, graphite oxides, ligand complex, fibre
or 3D. ( figure 1) Generally speaking, graphene exists as a flat monolayer of the carbon atom that
tightly packed together which form a two dimensional honeycomb lattices. The thin layer honeycomb
shaped graphene can be wrapped up or rolled up into 1D nanotubes or stacked into 3D graphite. (
Geim Novoselov 2012).A different form of graphene has various type of function. For example,
graphene bilayers were applied widely in manufacturing zero gap semiconductor. Theoretically
speaking, by decreasing the thickness of the graphene will lead to decreased melting point and
instability of the structure ( Geim Novoselov 2012). Yan et al. (2011) also demonstrated that bilayer
graphene was more

Hoodoo Vs Voodoo
Hoodoo versus Voodoo: Alike in Name but Not in Practice
The Basic Aspects of Hoodoo As everyday people become more mindful of alternative forms of
medicine to employ in place of rigid western medicine, longstanding methods of healing from around
the world have experienced a revival, especially the West African practice of Hoodoo. Hoodoo,
otherwise known as rootwork or conjuring, is a manner of folk magic and spiritual practice that
focuses upon the innate powers of the earth and its dwelling life forces (Rave, n.d.). Brought by slaves
transported to the United States as part of the Transatlantic Slave Trade the ways of Hoodoo spread
throughout the Mississippi Delta, and utilizes a wide variety of methods to produce a positive impact

occasionally it is good to reevaluate what knowledge is known and how it is known. It is through
learning and coming to understand those with differing beliefs that society can overcome its
apprehension, and recognize that a contrast in beliefs do not make people any less

Argumentative Essay On The Benefits Of Physician Surgery
One large plausible influence on a physician s marginal revenue product is surgery. In our textbook it
lists four broad specialty categories detailing physicians lifetime earnings, which are, Primary care
($3,000,527), Surgery ($4,588,249), Internal Medicine and Pediatric Specialties (4,100,183), and other
(3,761,930), for forty one subspecialties.(Health Economics Textbook) Out of these four categories,
surgery makes the most revenue for the physician for multiple different factors. I believe this is mainly
because surgery is an expensive procedure to perform, but also a very experienced and knowledged
physician is needed to be able to perform the surgery. Depending on what needs to be operated on a
patient may seek care from specialized

Comparison of the Poems, Two Scavengers and Nothing s Changed
Nothings Changed was written by Tatamkhulu Afrika, a mixed race child with fair skin, who was later
adopted by a white South African family who brought him up as though he was white, and he only
found out about his origins as a teenager. Tatamkhulu lived in a multi cultural area called District Six,
which was destroyed by the white authorities. He feels strongly about this kind of racism towards the
black people despite the fact that he has fair skin. In the actual poem, the poet is telling the story from
his own experiences in first person. Two Scavengers was written by Lawrence Ferlinghetti. The poem
highlights the differences between rich and poor and the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The poem doesn t state any other relationships, besides the contrast between the white people and the
black people. This gives me the impression that both sides stick to their own , either due to the partite
or difference of race.
Two Scavengers is set at some traffic lights in downtown San
Francisco at 9am. The whole poem is based around a freeze frame in time. The poet gives very little
description to the setting of the poem, and instead focuses mainly on the two working classes, to get
the point across. Socially, I think the Bin Men, or Garbage Men as they are called in the piece as this
the poet is an American, aren t very well respected compared to the couple in the Mercedes. In the
poem it says, ...and looking down into... as if to say that the Bin Men were looking down on the posh
couple, this is but a bit role reversal between both sides. Bin Men have a lonely, smelly and dark job
and most of the time are seen as stupid people, so therefore are taken advantage of. The poem makes
me think this by saying, Grungy from their route . This particular quote gives us the impression that
their job is very physical, dirty and smelly, which could possibly be linked to the hot climate, which
again could add to the discomfort of the job. The couple in the Mercedes have a respectable job, are
clean and are seen as clever and better off than many. I think this because the poem describes them as
an, elegant couple and cool

HIV Infections in African American Males Essay
HIV infections in African American Males have been a national growing problem since the early 1990
s. According to CDC, in the United States, there are more than 1 million people living with HIV. 48
percent are afro American males between the ages 13 44(CDC, 2007). It is estimated that around 1
million people in the United States will be diagnose with HIV in the up coming year with the lifetime
risk of becoming infected is 1 in 16 for black males (CDC,2007). However, there is growing concern
about the disproportionate increase of HIV among adolescent African American males ages 13 19.

Jerusalem By Saladin
The Capture of Jerusalem by Saladin A Crusade is military excursions made by Western European
Christians during the late eleventh century through the late thirteenth century. Crusades offered
peasants an escape from the brutal Feudal System, because peasants who took up the cross were freed
from feudal obligations. Pope Urban II sought to unite the European Christians, to increase personal
power, to counter the rising power of Seljuk Turks, and to provide pilgrimage to the Holy Land. Peter
the Hermit, instigator of the Crusades, spread Crusade fever preaching all over France which, attracted
outcasts, criminals, beggars, and thieves. Additionally, the nobles wanted to strengthen the power of

The commanders of the Crusades were the King of Jerusalem, King Guy of Lusignan, Balian of Ibelin
(a Crusader noble), Raynald of Chatillon (a knight in the second Crusade), and Raymond III of Tripoli
and the Muslim Military leaders were Saladin (nephew of Nural Din), Nur al Din (son of Zangi who
recaptured Syria), and Imad al Din Zangi. Saladin maintained an uneasy peace with the crusaders.
However, a series of provocations by the Crusaders broke the truce by attacking trade caravans under
the protection of the treaty. This enraged Saladin and triggered the invasion of the Kingdom of
Jerusalem. Although the Crusader army was similar in size to Saladin s army, Saladin had various
advantages because he knew the climate and terrain, used better tactics, and was militarily organized.
On the other hand, The Crusades were divided and the King was easily persuaded by bad counsel. In
addition, The Crusaders were too weak to fight due to the unfamiliar conditions such as the weather
(too hot), long distance journeys, lack of water, and were also saddened by the capture of the True
Cross, the King, and Reynald of Chatillon. The capture of Jerusalem is historically important because
it led to the end of first kingdom of the Jerusalem. This would also cause a European comeback with

Shortly after the discovery of X rays, another form of strong rays were discovered. In 1896, French
scientist Henri Becquerel discovered natural radioactivity. Many scientists of the period were working
with cathode rays, and other scientists were gathering evidence on the theory that the atom could be
subdivided. Some of the new research showed that certain types of atoms break by themselves. It was
Henri Becquerel who discovered this experience while investigating the properties of fluorescent
minerals. Becquerel was researching the principles of fluorescence, wherein certain minerals glow
(fluoresce) when exposed to sunlight. He utilized photographic plates to record this fluorescence.
One of the minerals Becquerel worked with was a uranium

Analysis Of George Bailey s It s A Wonderful Life
George Bailey is the main protagonist in the film It s a Wonderful Life. Throughout the movie, we see
how George s actions have affected the town of Bedford Falls. So when George Bailey wishes that he
had never been born, it causes many problems with the fate of the characters in Bedford Falls. George
Bailey feels as if his life is worthless and he unwisely concludes that he is worth more dead than alive,
but little does George know, his life has touched more people than he thinks. By existing and doing
what he thinks is right, George Bailey has affected the outcome of the Building and Loan, Mary
Hatch, his brother Harry, and Mr. Gower s career, all the while keeping Mr. Potter from completely
taking over Bedford Falls. If George Bailey had never been born, the Bailey Bros. Building and Loan
would be completely different. After George s father died, the Building and Loan would be handed
over to Mr. Potter who would dissolve the company and any houses the company created would fall
under his jurisdiction. Because the Building and Loan closed, Uncle Billy is institutionalized at a
mental institution. Bailey Park was never built as well. Because of that, all families that would have
lived there, never got the chance to move to these affordable houses. They instead would be stuck in
those shacks that Mr. Potter calls houses. Ernie the taxi driver never moves into Bailey Park. He stays
in Bailey Park and as a result his wife left him. Mr. Martini also never built his bar

In this case of Procter and Gamble (P amp;G) and Wal Mart s partnership, the main issue seemed to be
caused by a third part company s collaboration with Wal Mart which interfered the healthy partnership
between P amp;G and Wal Mart, also threatened P amp;G s leading position in the diaper market. P

It was clearly stated in the case that the products from those private label brands can be 20 percent, or
in some cases even 30 to 40 percent less than first tier national brands. No matter what strategies P

entering of low priced private label product in this case, Wal Mart s private label diapers supplied by
Kimberly Clark. Although the case didn t provide any alternative solutions to the situation, in my
opinion there were two main options to resolve the problem. The first option is to lower the price of P
amp;G s diaper product to better compete with Wal Mart s private label. The second option is to
mainly maintain or slightly raise the price to establish P amp;G s diaper brand Pampers as a premium
brand in the segment.
As I mentioned before, when the concern came down to the price, it seems that it s inevitable for P
amp;G to reduce the price of their diapers in order to stay in the leading position of the segment.
Although P amp;G has all the rights and reasons to market Pampers as a premium brand with the high
quality diapers and the intimate community service and relationships they ve developed over years by
marketing campaigns. However the research data from Huggies Every Little Bottom Study Diaper

Hebrew Wisdom Essay
Found in The Old Testament of the Holy Bible is a variety of teaching of Hebrew wisdom. I find
Proverbs and Ecclesiastes to lend much instruction to the subject of diligence and laziness. The
Hebrew teaching is quick to point out that diligence leads to wisdom and laziness is folly. Choices in
life and sinful behavior ends up in disastrous circumstances. In the essence of (The Essence of the Old
Testament) Hebrew wisdom literature teaches us how to make good decisions in life, but also how to
make godly decisions. This essay will explore how the Hebrew wisdom teaches the repercussions of
living wise and diligent verses living lazy and excluding God.
The Bible offers an abundance of teachings that enlighten us to the value of diligence verses the
pitfalls of laziness. All too often we see people who are either looking for an easy contribution or, a
way to better their current circumstances. The goal is to show and help the ones who have a sense of
desire to contribute to society and afford them the opportunity to prosper. Definition of diligence is
careful and continued hard work much like the Ant. Notice, none of them have defined leaders, all of
them live in colonies, have separation of labor, and collect and store up food for those long days. They
can also carry 10 50 times its weight. Laziness is described as a person who is a slothful or indolent.
(Proverbs 6:6 NSV) teaches us Go to the ant, you lazy man! Observe its ways and become wise .

Cognitive Psychology False Memory Essay
Running head: False Memory
Theoretical and Applied/Practical Perspective of False Memory The human memory is subject to a
multitude of errors, including source misattributions, distortion and creation of false memories. In
order to do justice to this paper one must first determine what is False memory ? False memory is
memory for an event that did not occur or distorted memory of actual events (Gleaves, Smith, Butler,
Spiegel, 2004). This type of memory has been an area of intense research interest for both theoretical
and practical reasons and psychologists have long been interested in memory illusions and distortions,
as such errors can inform theories of how the memory works (Hunt Ellis, 2004). From a ... Show more

When this phenomenon occurs an individual may confuse the gist trace strength with the
psychological experience of recollecting, which is normally mediated by retrieving verbatim traces of
studied items. As lure items tend to match very strong gist traces in memory individuals believe they
can recollect DRM lures. According to Arndt, (2010), this theory proposes that although these errors
are often phenomenologically similar to items that were episodically experienced, lures recollection
phenomenology is representationally distinct from that of study items (p.67). There is evidence
however that false memory can be based largely on automatic processing and is amenable to only
limited conscious control. For example, Dodd and MacLeod (2004), showed that mere exposure to
DRM lists was sufficient to create a false memory: They presented DRM lists as coloured words in a
Stroop test. Naming colours reduced accurate memory for list words as compared to reading coloured
words, but false memory remained high for critical words. Furthermore, the elimination of false
memory is difficult in that certain encoding manipulations may lead to reductions in false memories
through metamemorial processes occurring at retrieval (Gallo, McDermott, Percer Roediger III, 2001,
p.339). For example slowing presentation rate decreases the probability of false

It is hard to fathom in a time when a quick Google search can elicit details about nearly anyone that
people continue to fabricate, omit, or falsify information on their resumé or job application. However,
complete another search on high profile resumé fraud and one will learn this type of fraud continues to
be prevalent, even among those occupying the C Suite. The case asks the reader to explore the ethics
along the continuum of white lies to more serious fraudulent statements and decide if it matters,

Essay on Ruined Maid and To His Coy Mistress
Ruined Maid and To His Coy Mistress
Both the Ruined Maid and To His Coy Mistress provide us with disturbing images / pictures of love,
sex and relationships as I am about to explain.
The Ruined Maid was written by Thomas Hardy in 1866, during the time when women didn t have
sex before marriage and they were thrown out of their village for being ruined . The public at that
point in history had a very strict view of sex and marriage. They thought that women in particular
should never have sex before marriage and they should have everything taken off them for being
ruined . They were looked upon as a disgrace to society.

The actual poem is written in a Ballard style and it s conversational because of the dialog between
Melia and the other woman. The poem has a rhyming couplet scheme that goes AA, BB, and CC, also
the beat to each line is four beats per line. The poem also consists of enjambment within the verses

To Her Coy Mistress was written by Andrew Marvell during the steward period were sex was more
relaxed. The main theme of the poem is sex and carpe dime. The poem is set out into three verses; 1.
If, 2. But and 3. However.
This poem is all about time and if we had time this and that could happen. The disturbing pictures or
images of the love and relationships are thought the poem. The coy mistress is actually a prostitute,
because the man who is going to have sex with her says For, lady, you deserve this state, Nor would I
love lower at this rate. This statement taken from the poem meant the respect that was given to the
lady was enough even though she may not think so, also this sentence uses a metaphor because he s

Autonomy is the concept of the patient having control over his or her own body ( Saint Joseph s
University, 2017), and with that control the patient must know enough to make informed decisions.
The front line staff will need to be aware of the cost benefit to different treatment plans and involve
the patient in the plan as a partner and not just a patient. Moreover, documenting the discussion and
decisions will prevent the appearance of fraudulent practices (Anderson Sandoff, 1999). The DNP

Political Ideology and Social Problem Analysis
Abramovitz (2003) states, To a large extent, the history of social services and social welfare policy
consists of the evolving recognition of social needs and the organization of society to meet them (p.
130). The United States has the highest rates of poverty in the Western world; surprisingly the United
States is the richest nation in the world. In 1964, Lyndon B. Johnson introduced the War on Poverty.
His approach was to expand the government s role in the citizen s education and health care, which in
return would ensure that Americans had the most basic resources to meet their needs. Although there
has been a one third decline in poverty since 1967, America continues to struggle to maintain the most

Liberals are known for their bleeding hearts, they want to help everyone, especially those in poverty.
Liberals believe being poor is not an individual decision, but from outside conditions that have
affected the individual. Liberals accepts the concepts of a free market and acknowledge that there will
always be inequity. Lewis Winderquist (2002) state, Liberals contend that inadequate demand for
labor and low human capital often force individuals into unemployment and poverty. Due to these

Conservatives believe that education is imperative to successfully transitioning into the economy.
Liberals thrive for higher education for the marginalized individuals. Liberals believe that with higher
education, unemployed or marginalized citizens are able to compete for higher paying jobs which will
remove them from their current economic status over time. This in return promotes individual
enhancement and eventually large social change. Liberals are all for community development and

John Winthrop And Roger Williams
In early American literature, religion is one of the more consistent as well as prevalent themes. This is
primarily due to the fact that early settlers of the American colonies were seeking to escape religious
persecution, as well as to find a place to freely develop and expand their religious convictions. Despite
sharing common English heritage as well as branching from the Anglican and Catholic church,
religious views on liturgy and deontological ethics differed greatly amongst the settlers. This can be
seen in the works of John Winthrop and Roger Williams. While both men s religious beliefs stemmed
from the same roots, each held different opinions on how rigid religion and liturgy should be held
throughout the community. During the time of English colonization and settlement, John Winthrop
wrote many pieces related to the importance of religion in society. These writings include A Model of
Christian Charity which focused mainly on Puritan ideas on how to treat one another in order for the
colony to survive.Winthrop, a very influential Puritan founder, proposed a society in the new colony
of Massachusetts centered around religion and the idea that Puritan beliefs were the only sure way to
ensure God s blessings. Winthrop discusses that it is a civil duty amongst colonists to involve the
Puritan religion in everyday life in order to preserve the colony as well as Puritan values. In the piece
Winthrop writes that if the colony ...shall neglect the observation of these

Religious And Spiritual Aspects Of Human Service Practice
In this paper, I will be writing about spirituality and religion. I will be referring to the textbook called,
Religious and Spiritual Aspects of Human Service Practice written by James W. Ellor, F. Ellen
Netting, and Jane M. Thibault (1999). This paper will include comparing and contrasting concepts of
spirituality and religion, summarizing the influence of religious groups in human service development,
and influence of religion on the historical development of clinical practice. Additionally, I will discuss
the relationship between public policy and religion in the United States. To conclude, I will reflect on
the implications of being a helping services professional. Even before recorded time, human beings
have naturally sought a connection with one in which is greater than they are. This includes the desire
to have a source of meaning. Prior to the Second World War, these connection needs were often met
with various religious traditions. Around 1960 there was a change in United States with people who
moved towards a more personal and spiritual expression of these connection needs. Regardless of
having religious traditions or a spiritual expression they are both part of the culture and human
experience for people. Since around the 1940s observers have revealed a smaller percentage of adults
in attendance at church. However, studies have reported that the need for spiritual experiences is
increasing (Ellor, Netting, and Thibault, 1999, pp. 1 3). Ellor et al. define

The Art Of Graffiti
In the summer of 2013, a graffiti artist by the name of Lady Pink had police barge into her house in
Queens and arrest her husband for vandalism. They took her art supplies, photo archives, and many of
her prized possessions. She had to sit there, helpless, watching police take away her things. In today s
world right now, expressing yourself creatively is one of the most important things you can do to help
figure out who you are. A part of creative expression is art. Art makes people happy. Graffiti falls into
the art category. For some people, graffiti is what they do to express themselves. Graffiti is art and
shouldn t be illegal. Expressing yourself creatively shouldn t be a crime. Many people think that adults
doing graffiti influences younger kids do it. That s simply not true. A graffiti artist by the name of
Banksy , who is an unidentified artist in England, says Imagine a city where graffiti wasn t illegal, a
city where everybody could draw whatever they liked. Where every street was awash with a million
colors and little phrases. Where standing at a bus stop was never boring. A city that felt like a party
where everyone was invited, not just the estate agents and barons of big business. Graffiti is art and art
is such a wonderful thing that makes others happy. If someone wants to do something that makes them

Shift Of Emphasis From Racism
Shift of Emphasis From Classism to Racism
Disasters often present to a society the opportunity for self examination by stripping away the facade
and revealing the underlying problems and inequities that were overlooked and oppressed by the
established social order. When Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans, not only did it bring about
complete destruction to the physical landscape, but it also brought to light the social inequalities and
vulnerabilities that were present and deeply rooted in the community, which became a social disaster.
Soon in the aftermath, many attempted to define and categorize Hurricane Katrina as either a class
disaster or a race disaster. The fact that the wealthy and well off families who could afford to reside in
areas safe from the floods and those who could evacuate in time to escape the Hurricane presented the
idea that Katrina was a class based disaster . On the other hand, the fact that the poor that remained
behind and suffered the full blow of Hurricane Katrina were predominantly black Americans
contributed greatly to the debate of race based disaster. However, when analyzing the timeline of the
disaster, it appears that during the pre hurricane period, the most prevalent issue was classism, where
the poor and desolate were unable to escape the forecasted disaster. During the period of
disorganization following the hurricane, the most prevalent issue was racism, where the discrimination
between poor white Americans and poor black

Faulkner Writing Style
If the purpose of your story is to unfold the secrets at the center of your hero s life, then there is no
reason the key events or revelations need to be presented in the calendar order in which they occurred.
What is more important is that there is a march toward understanding, a sense we are drawing ever
closer to the truth wherever it may lie (Blake, 2). This statement sounds like something I believe
Faulkner would say. Faulkner s imagination was very great and this made him a great writer. Faulkner
even went to the extent of creating his own town in Yoknapatawpha Mississippi (Meyer, 77). William
Faulkner was a great author that has amazed people throughout the years. A statement he mentioned
when he accepted his Nobel Prize really stuck to me. Problems of the human heart in conflict with
itself...alone can make good writing because only that is worth writing about, worth the agony and the
sweat (Faulkner, 77). Faulkner s writing style differs from other authors because it is written in non
chronological order, which opens the door to exciting mysteries and excitement throughout the story
unlike the film versions of stories such as A Rose for Emily, which is predictable due to the sequence
of event. Due to this, many individuals that read books tend to like them more than the actual film that
is developed. This can be said for many movies including recent movies that have been released such
as Harry Potter and Twilight.

Key Determinant Of A Parent Child Language
Background to the study
CRUCIAL DETERMINANT of a child s progress in language is the quality of the parent child
language interaction during the first three years (Hart
Risley 1995). Maternal behaviours such as maternal responsivity, contingency and stimulating
interactions have been found to be predictive of subsequent language performance of the child.
Optimal parenting behaviour is reciprocal, supports the child s interests and recognises the child s
need for autonomy (Landry et al., 1997; Murray
Hornbaker, 1997). Cognitive ability level in early childhood has been found to be associated with
stimulating and contingent parentinfant interactions (Olson, Bates Kaskie,
1991; Sylva et al., 2011). Children s preschool language performance can be predicted from the
quality of maternal involvement (Olson, Bates Bayles, 1984).
Maternal responsivity the way in which the mother provides for, interacts or responds to their child
creates an environment which has an impact on the language development of their child (Brady,
Warren Sterling,
2009; Hirsh Pasek Burchinal, 2006; Masur,
Flynn Eichorst, 2005). A large UK cohort study examined maternal responses rated at
12 months during an observed motherinfant interaction and found that positive maternal responses and
infant development were associated at 18 months (Pearson et al.,

Political Socialization Essay
Political socialization is a concept that shows the development of children and adolescents who attain
political cognition, attitudes, and behaviors. Political socialization routinely begins in children. There
are multiple factors that influence the political socialization of citizens. Research theorizes that family
and school teachers are the most influential. Recent research also states that media plays an important
role on influence as well. Everything a child does from birth to around the adolescent age is more than
likely taught through family. As a child they tend to look up to who run their household. Certain
views, attitudes, and behaviors are mimicked because that is the only platform that is being viewed at
the time. Families tend to have an impact on children unintentionally by acting an example for
children. It is often that children end up with the same political views as the parents of that household.
Parents do not flat out talk to children about politics directly, but the occasional remarks that are made
often have serious impact. Family beliefs are a factor in the party identification such as lifelong
republican or lifelong democrat. Studies show that children have the same party identification as their
parents even if they have different views from them. The family may be losing it accreditation in
socialization, but it is still a big factor. By an early age political symbols are understood. By the time a
child is five he/she has some understanding about

king. In fact, I think King Saul was a terrible king for the kingdom of God. My final question I have is
why did Yahweh take so long to make David king? Why did Yahweh not kill of King Saul right away?

Arguments Between Socrates And Meletus
Socrates, the magnificent philosopher of the old Athens, was known by his wisdom. He was led to
court because of some accusations that became serious charges and led Socrates to death at the age of
seventy. In this essay, the argument between Socrates and Meletus will be examined based on the
accusations of corrupting the youths, believing in other gods instead of gods of Athens and making the
weaker argument appear stronger and their refutations that show Socrates was actually accused of
being a smart speaker.
So as to protect himself against the charges of offensiveness, Socrates calls Meletus to the stand to
question him on each of the assertions. He starts by condemning Meletus for saying Socrates is guilty
of meddling, of inquiring ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He asks Meletus whether the charges from his deposition are true; that he ruins the youths by Teaching
them not to believe in the gods in whom the city believes but in other new spiritual things (26b) to
which Meletus reacts that it definitely is. Socrates starts by approaching Meletus for an explanation of
the charge. He asks whether the allegation is that he has faith in new divinities or is it that he doesn t
trust in any god at all, and hence it is his skepticism that defiles the youths (26c). Meletus answers in
the positive to the charge of skepticism it is Socrates agnosticism that ruins. Socrates then utilizes his
well known strategy and turns the men of Athens attention to thoughtfulness regarding the irregularity
in the charge that he presents new spiritual things (27b 28a). He goes ahead to demonstrate that
Meletus case of confidence in new spiritual things is in inconsistency to agnosticism which cannot
hold to any spiritual view. Socrates practices various basic analogies to strengthen this point. He says
that faith in human activities involves confidence in people, that confidence in horsemen s exercises
involves confidence in horses, faith in woodwind playing involves a confidence in woodwinds, and
henceforth confidence in spirits (which are generally the offspring of the gods) likewise involves
belief in the divine beings

Elasticity of Demand
The purpose of this essay is to define elasticity of demand, cross price elasticity, income elasticity, and
explain the elastic coefficients for each. I will explain the contrast of and significance of difference
between the three. I will also explain whether demand would tend to be more or less elastic for
availability of substitutes, share of consumer income devoted to a good, and consumer s time horizon,
and give examples of each. Then, I will explain the logical impacts to business decision making that
result from each. Last, I will differentiate between perfectly inelastic demand and perfectly inelastic
demand, and illustrate the difference between the terms. Elasticity of demand, also known as price
demand elasticity, is defined as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The coefficient for elasticity of demand measures the relationship between two variables. A formula
for figuring out the coefficient of elasticity of demand is: (percentage change in quantity) / (percentage
change in price). The coefficient will be the percentage change in quantity demanded in response to a
one percent change in price, and will determine is if the demand for a good is elastic (eod gt;1) or
inelastic (eod lt;1). Knowing the coefficient for the demand of a product gives a business the edge
because they will know when to make adjustments to price in order to increase the demand for a
product. Cross price elasticity, Income elasticity, and Elasticity of demand all have different
coefficient formulas. The difference between cross price elasticity and income elasticity is that cross
price elasticity measure the percentage of change in demand of a product in relation to change in
price, while income elasticity measures changes in demand in relation to changes in income. The
difference between these two and elasticity of demand is that elasticity of demand measures the
responsiveness of demand to a change in price. Elasticity of demand determines whether a company
can increase or reduce their price on a product, and is therefore detrimental to a company that is trying
to maximize their profits. Cross price

Millions are Affected by Insomnia
Insomnia is one of the sleep wake disorders and affects millions on a daily basis. Individuals affected
by insomnia can have trouble falling asleep, staying asleep, and/or having non restorative sleep.
According to the American Psychiatric Association, insomnia symptoms are reported by one third of
all adults and 10 15% of those adults experience daytime impairments related to insomnia while 6
10% of them actually meet the criteria for insomnia disorder (2013, p. 364 365). The occurrence of
insomnia is more prevalent in women, older adults, shift workers, those of lower socioeconomic
status, and those with poor physical and mental (Morin, 2010). It can result from several causes, some
of which include life stressors such as divorce and job loss, other psychological or medical disorders,
environmental changes, and age. Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), medication, or a combination
of the two is used in treating insomnia. There are three types of insomnia: transient, acute, and chronic
insomnia. Transient insomnia is very mild, lasting for a very short period of time, and can occur due to
small stressors or changes in the individual s environment. Transient insomnia is easily resolved once
the stress is alleviated or removed. Acute insomnia commonly stems from stress and dissipates once
the stressor has been removed (Yang, Lin, Cheng, 2013). Chronic insomnia has a longer duration as
sleep patterns do not normalize due other processes interrupting the individual s sleep

General Mcauliffe s Tactical Mission
Tactical Situation
1. Mission: General McAuliffe s mission was simple; hold the town of Bastogne at any cost to prevent
the German counter assault from breaking through the Allied line. The town was strategically held to
prevent high speed avenues of approach, as well as access to supply and mobilization routes for the
Axis forces. The roadways of St. Vith and Bastogne were paramount for the Germans to advance
north, and press on to the Meuse River, which was their objective. Also part of his mission parameters
were to destroy Axis fuel depots to limit maneuverability of the Panzer division. This would limit the
capabilities of the feared Panzer tanks. The town is located on the western border of Luxembourg
approximately halfway between Holland and France. The allies advanced from Holland in the north,
and France in the South, creating a choke point to round up the German lines, and maintain all high
speed avenues of approach west of Germany. This would mean that German forces would be
consolidated and fortified, making it a consolidated battle of attrition. This was intended to be a battle
of patience, and to wait until one force ran low enough on supplies or manpower, that the other would
be overtaken with ease. Or in the case of the Paratroopers, wait until help arrives. In regards to ...

The idea that companies, government, and organizations would have the ability to sensor and choose
what comes up on any internet searches. The two sides are as stated: everything that comes up on the
internet should be unbiased (thus resulting neutral ). The other side states that the internet, companies,

  • 2. Diction In Ralph Waldo Emerson s Education Emerson from Education is trying to spread his message that the current school education is not in the perfect shape but rather in a broken state. Because of the problem, the students are not able to learn as well. Emerson gets his message out by using diction to strengthen his position and Emerson also appeals to pathos. In Education , Emerson uses diction as a way to keep audiences engaged in what he is trying to argue. Emerson uses the words drill and labor to create a hostile tone which enhances his message that the school system is broken (Emerson). The word drill in this context is used as an aggressive move. The author uses the word drill instead of teaches because the word drill makes the school seem like they are trying to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In general, graphene has emerged becoming one of the most valuable innovation material in various fields in the meantime offers new insights of new quantum physics that continue to amaze the public. Forms of graphene Graphene can exist in many forms such as bilayers, nanostripes, graphite oxides, ligand complex, fibre or 3D. ( figure 1) Generally speaking, graphene exists as a flat monolayer of the carbon atom that tightly packed together which form a two dimensional honeycomb lattices. The thin layer honeycomb shaped graphene can be wrapped up or rolled up into 1D nanotubes or stacked into 3D graphite. ( Geim Novoselov 2012).A different form of graphene has various type of function. For example, graphene bilayers were applied widely in manufacturing zero gap semiconductor. Theoretically speaking, by decreasing the thickness of the graphene will lead to decreased melting point and instability of the structure ( Geim Novoselov 2012). Yan et al. Hoodoo, otherwise known as rootwork or conjuring, is a manner of folk magic and spiritual practice that focuses upon the innate powers of the earth and its dwelling life forces (Rave, n.d.). In the end, society is not always aware of the origins behind its beliefs and traditions; occasionally it is good to reevaluate what knowledge is known and how it is known. • 5. Argumentative Essay On The Benefits Of Physician Surgery One large plausible influence on a physician s marginal revenue product is surgery. In our textbook it lists four broad specialty categories detailing physicians lifetime earnings, which are, Primary care ($3,000,527), Surgery ($4,588,249), Internal Medicine and Pediatric Specialties (4,100,183), and other (3,761,930), for forty one subspecialties.(Health Economics Textbook) Out of these four categories, surgery makes the most revenue for the physician for multiple different factors. I believe this is mainly because surgery is an expensive procedure to perform, but also a very experienced and knowledged physician is needed to be able to perform the surgery. • 6. Comparison of the Poems, Two Scavengers and Nothing s... Comparison of the Poems, Two Scavengers and Nothing s Changed Nothings Changed was written by Tatamkhulu Afrika, a mixed race child with fair skin, who was later adopted by a white South African family who brought him up as though he was white, and he only found out about his origins as a teenager. Tatamkhulu lived in a multi cultural area called District Six, which was destroyed by the white authorities. He feels strongly about this kind of racism towards the black people despite the fact that he has fair skin. In the actual poem, the poet is telling the story from his own experiences in first person. Two Scavengers was written by Lawrence Ferlinghetti. The poem highlights the differences between rich and poor and the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The poem doesn t state any other relationships, besides the contrast between the white people and the black people. This gives me the impression that both sides stick to their own , either due to the partite or difference of race. Two Scavengers is set at some traffic lights in downtown San Francisco at 9am. The whole poem is based around a freeze frame in time. The poet gives very little description to the setting of the poem, and instead focuses mainly on the two working classes, to get the point across. Socially, I think the Bin Men, or Garbage Men as they are called in the piece as this the poet is an American, aren t very well respected compared to the couple in the Mercedes. In the poem it says, ...and looking down into... as if to say that the Bin Men were looking down on the posh couple, this is but a bit role reversal between both sides. Bin Men have a lonely, smelly and dark job and most of the time are seen as stupid people, so therefore are taken advantage of. The poem makes me think this by saying, Grungy from their route . This particular quote gives us the impression that their job is very physical, dirty and smelly, which could possibly be linked to the hot climate, which again could add to the discomfort of the job. The couple in the Mercedes have a respectable job, are clean and are seen as clever and better off than many. I think this because the poem describes them as an, elegant couple and cool ... Jerusalem By Saladin The Capture of Jerusalem by Saladin A Crusade is military excursions made by Western European Christians during the late eleventh century through the late thirteenth century. Pope Urban II sought to unite the European Christians, to increase personal power, to counter the rising power of Seljuk Turks, and to provide pilgrimage to the Holy Land. Saladin maintained an uneasy peace with the crusaders. However, a series of provocations by the Crusaders broke the truce by attacking trade caravans under the protection of the treaty. This enraged Saladin and triggered the invasion of the Kingdom of Jerusalem. Although the Crusader army was similar in size to Saladin s army, Saladin had various advantages because he knew the climate and terrain, used better tactics, and was militarily organized. On the other hand, The Crusades were divided and the King was easily persuaded by bad counsel. In addition, The Crusaders were too weak to fight due to the unfamiliar conditions such as the weather (too hot), long distance journeys, lack of water, and were also saddened by the capture of the True Cross, the King, and Reynald of Chatillon. The capture of Jerusalem is historically important because it led to the end of first kingdom of the Jerusalem. This would also cause a European comeback with the third crusade in ... In 1896, French scientist Henri Becquerel discovered natural radioactivity. Many scientists of the period were working with cathode rays, and other scientists were gathering evidence on the theory that the atom could be subdivided. Some of the new research showed that certain types of atoms break by themselves. It was Henri Becquerel who discovered this experience while investigating the properties of fluorescent minerals. Throughout the movie, we see how George s actions have affected the town of Bedford Falls. So when George Bailey wishes that he had never been born, it causes many problems with the fate of the characters in Bedford Falls. George Bailey feels as if his life is worthless and he unwisely concludes that he is worth more dead than alive, but little does George know, his life has touched more people than he thinks. By existing and doing what he thinks is right, George Bailey has affected the outcome of the Building and Loan, Mary Hatch, his brother Harry, and Mr. Gower s career, all the while keeping Mr. Potter from completely taking over Bedford Falls. If George Bailey had never been born, the Bailey Bros. Building and Loan would be completely different. After George s father died, the Building and Loan would be handed over to Mr. Potter who would dissolve the company and any houses the company created would fall under his jurisdiction. Because the Building and Loan closed, Uncle Billy is institutionalized at a mental institution. Bailey Park was never built as well. Because of that, all families that would have lived there, never got the chance to move to these affordable houses. They instead would be stuck in those shacks that Mr. Potter calls houses. Although the case didn t provide any alternative solutions to the situation, in my opinion there were two main options to resolve the problem. The first option is to lower the price of P amp;G s diaper product to better compete with Wal Mart s private label. The second option is to mainly maintain or slightly raise the price to establish P amp;G s diaper brand Pampers as a premium brand in the segment. As I mentioned before, when the concern came down to the price, it seems that it s inevitable for P amp;G to reduce the price of their diapers in order to stay in the leading position of the segment. • 13. Hebrew Wisdom Essay Found in The Old Testament of the Holy Bible is a variety of teaching of Hebrew wisdom. I find Proverbs and Ecclesiastes to lend much instruction to the subject of diligence and laziness. The Hebrew teaching is quick to point out that diligence leads to wisdom and laziness is folly. Choices in life and sinful behavior ends up in disastrous circumstances. In the essence of (The Essence of the Old Testament) Hebrew wisdom literature teaches us how to make good decisions in life, but also how to make godly decisions. This essay will explore how the Hebrew wisdom teaches the repercussions of living wise and diligent verses living lazy and excluding God. The Bible offers an abundance of teachings that enlighten us to the value of diligence verses the pitfalls of laziness. All too often we see people who are either looking for an easy contribution or, a way to better their current circumstances. The goal is to show and help the ones who have a sense of desire to contribute to society and afford them the opportunity to prosper. Definition of diligence is careful and continued hard work much like the Ant. Notice, none of them have defined leaders, all of them live in colonies, have separation of labor, and collect and store up food for those long days. They can also carry 10 50 times its weight. • 15. Cognitive Psychology False Memory Essay Running head: False Memory Theoretical and Applied/Practical Perspective of False Memory The human memory is subject to a multitude of errors, including source misattributions, distortion and creation of false memories. In order to do justice to this paper one must first determine what is False memory ? False memory is memory for an event that did not occur or distorted memory of actual events (Gleaves, Smith, Butler, Spiegel, 2004). This type of memory has been an area of intense research interest for both theoretical and practical reasons and psychologists have long been interested in memory illusions and distortions, as such errors can inform theories of how the memory works (Hunt Ellis, 2004). From a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When this phenomenon occurs an individual may confuse the gist trace strength with the psychological experience of recollecting, which is normally mediated by retrieving verbatim traces of studied items. As lure items tend to match very strong gist traces in memory individuals believe they can recollect DRM lures. According to Arndt, (2010), this theory proposes that although these errors are often phenomenologically similar to items that were episodically experienced, lures recollection phenomenology is representationally distinct from that of study items (p.67). There is evidence however that false memory can be based largely on automatic processing and is amenable to only limited conscious control. For example, Dodd and MacLeod (2004), showed that mere exposure to DRM lists was sufficient to create a false memory: They presented DRM lists as coloured words in a Stroop test. Naming colours reduced accurate memory for list words as compared to reading coloured words, but false memory remained high for critical words. Furthermore, the elimination of false memory is difficult in that certain encoding manipulations may lead to reductions in false memories through metamemorial processes occurring at retrieval (Gallo, McDermott, Percer Roediger III, 2001, p.339). For example slowing presentation rate decreases the probability of false ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 24. John Winthrop And Roger Williams In early American literature, religion is one of the more consistent as well as prevalent themes. This is primarily due to the fact that early settlers of the American colonies were seeking to escape religious persecution, as well as to find a place to freely develop and expand their religious convictions. Despite sharing common English heritage as well as branching from the Anglican and Catholic church, religious views on liturgy and deontological ethics differed greatly amongst the settlers. This can be seen in the works of John Winthrop and Roger Williams. While both men s religious beliefs stemmed from the same roots, each held different opinions on how rigid religion and liturgy should be held throughout the community. This paper will include comparing and contrasting concepts of spirituality and religion, summarizing the influence of religious groups in human service development, and influence of religion on the historical development of clinical practice. Additionally, I will discuss the relationship between public policy and religion in the United States. To conclude, I will reflect on the implications of being a helping services professional. Even before recorded time, human beings have naturally sought a connection with one in which is greater than they are. This includes the desire to have a source of meaning. Prior to the Second World War, these connection needs were often met with various religious traditions. Around 1960 there was a change in United States with people who moved towards a more personal and spiritual expression of these connection needs. Regardless of having religious traditions or a spiritual expression they are both part of the culture and human experience for people. Since around the 1940s observers have revealed a smaller percentage of adults in attendance at church. Soon in the aftermath, many attempted to define and categorize Hurricane Katrina as either a class disaster or a race disaster. The fact that the wealthy and well off families who could afford to reside in areas safe from the floods and those who could evacuate in time to escape the Hurricane presented the idea that Katrina was a class based disaster . This statement sounds like something I believe Faulkner would say. Faulkner s imagination was very great and this made him a great writer. Faulkner even went to the extent of creating his own town in Yoknapatawpha Mississippi (Meyer, 77). William Faulkner was a great author that has amazed people throughout the years. • 29. Key Determinant Of A Parent Child Language Background to the study CRUCIAL DETERMINANT of a child s progress in language is the quality of the parent child language interaction during the first three years (Hart Risley 1995). Maternal behaviours such as maternal responsivity, contingency and stimulating interactions have been found to be predictive of subsequent language performance of the child. Optimal parenting behaviour is reciprocal, supports the child s interests and recognises the child s need for autonomy (Landry et al., 1997; Murray Hornbaker, 1997). Cognitive ability level in early childhood has been found to be associated with stimulating and contingent parentinfant interactions (Olson, Bates Kaskie, 1991; Sylva et al., 2011). Children s preschool language performance can be predicted from the quality of maternal involvement (Olson, Bates Bayles, 1984). Maternal responsivity the way in which the mother provides for, interacts or responds to their child creates an environment which has an impact on the language development of their child (Brady, Warren Sterling, 2009; Hirsh Pasek Burchinal, 2006; Masur, Flynn Eichorst, 2005). • 31. Political Socialization Essay Political socialization is a concept that shows the development of children and adolescents who attain political cognition, attitudes, and behaviors. Political socialization routinely begins in children. There are multiple factors that influence the political socialization of citizens. Research theorizes that family and school teachers are the most influential. Recent research also states that media plays an important role on influence as well. Everything a child does from birth to around the adolescent age is more than likely taught through family. As a child they tend to look up to who run their household. Certain views, attitudes, and behaviors are mimicked because that is the only platform that is being viewed at the time. Families tend to have an impact on children unintentionally by acting an example for children. It is often that children end up with the same political views as the parents of that household. Parents do not flat out talk to children about politics directly, but the occasional remarks that are made often have serious impact. Family beliefs are a factor in the party identification such as lifelong republican or lifelong democrat. Studies show that children have the same party identification as their parents even if they have different views from them. The family may be losing it accreditation in socialization, but it is still a big factor. By an early age political symbols are understood. One of my questions is what happened to Samuel? Meaning how did Samuel die? Did he just die of old age or did Saul kill him? Another question I have is why was I always told King Saul was a good king he really was not a good king? In Sunday school my teaches always said good things about King Saul, but after reading Davis I do not think King Saul was a good king. In fact, I think King Saul was a terrible king for the kingdom of God. My final question I have is why did Yahweh take so long to make David king? Why did Yahweh not kill of King Saul right away? • 36. Arguments Between Socrates And Meletus Socrates, the magnificent philosopher of the old Athens, was known by his wisdom. He was led to court because of some accusations that became serious charges and led Socrates to death at the age of seventy. In this essay, the argument between Socrates and Meletus will be examined based on the accusations of corrupting the youths, believing in other gods instead of gods of Athens and making the weaker argument appear stronger and their refutations that show Socrates was actually accused of being a smart speaker. So as to protect himself against the charges of offensiveness, Socrates calls Meletus to the stand to question him on each of the assertions. He starts by condemning Meletus for saying Socrates is guilty of meddling, of inquiring ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He asks Meletus whether the charges from his deposition are true; that he ruins the youths by Teaching them not to believe in the gods in whom the city believes but in other new spiritual things (26b) to which Meletus reacts that it definitely is. Socrates starts by approaching Meletus for an explanation of the charge. He asks whether the allegation is that he has faith in new divinities or is it that he doesn t trust in any god at all, and hence it is his skepticism that defiles the youths (26c). Meletus answers in the positive to the charge of skepticism it is Socrates agnosticism that ruins. Socrates then utilizes his well known strategy and turns the men of Athens attention to thoughtfulness regarding the irregularity in the charge that he presents new spiritual things (27b 28a). He goes ahead to demonstrate that Meletus case of confidence in new spiritual things is in inconsistency to agnosticism which cannot hold to any spiritual view. Socrates practices various basic analogies to strengthen this point. He says that faith in human activities involves confidence in people, that confidence in horsemen s exercises involves confidence in horses, faith in woodwind playing involves a confidence in woodwinds, and henceforth confidence in spirits (which are generally the offspring of the gods) likewise involves belief in the divine beings ... • 37. Elasticity of Demand The purpose of this essay is to define elasticity of demand, cross price elasticity, income elasticity, and explain the elastic coefficients for each. I will explain the contrast of and significance of difference between the three. I will also explain whether demand would tend to be more or less elastic for availability of substitutes, share of consumer income devoted to a good, and consumer s time horizon, and give examples of each. Then, I will explain the logical impacts to business decision making that result from each. Last, I will differentiate between perfectly inelastic demand and perfectly inelastic demand, and illustrate the difference between the terms. Elasticity of demand, also known as price demand elasticity, is defined as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The coefficient for elasticity of demand measures the relationship between two variables. A formula for figuring out the coefficient of elasticity of demand is: (percentage change in quantity) / (percentage change in price). The coefficient will be the percentage change in quantity demanded in response to a one percent change in price, and will determine is if the demand for a good is elastic (eod gt;1) or inelastic (eod lt;1). Knowing the coefficient for the demand of a product gives a business the edge because they will know when to make adjustments to price in order to increase the demand for a product. Cross price elasticity, Income elasticity, and Elasticity of demand all have different coefficient formulas. The difference between cross price elasticity and income elasticity is that cross price elasticity measure the percentage of change in demand of a product in relation to change in price, while income elasticity measures changes in demand in relation to changes in income. The difference between these two and elasticity of demand is that elasticity of demand measures the responsiveness of demand to a change in price. Elasticity of demand determines whether a company can increase or reduce their price on a product, and is therefore detrimental to a company that is trying to maximize their profits. Cross price ... Transient insomnia is very mild, lasting for a very short period of time, and can occur due to small stressors or changes in the individual s environment. Transient insomnia is easily resolved once the stress is alleviated or removed. Acute insomnia commonly stems from stress and dissipates once the stressor has been removed (Yang, Lin, Cheng, 2013). • 39. General Mcauliffe s Tactical Mission Tactical Situation 1. Mission: General McAuliffe s mission was simple; hold the town of Bastogne at any cost to prevent the German counter assault from breaking through the Allied line. The town was strategically held to prevent high speed avenues of approach, as well as access to supply and mobilization routes for the Axis forces. The roadways of St. Vith and Bastogne were paramount for the Germans to advance north, and press on to the Meuse River, which was their objective. Also part of his mission parameters were to destroy Axis fuel depots to limit maneuverability of the Panzer division. This would limit the capabilities of the feared Panzer tanks. The town is located on the western border of Luxembourg approximately halfway between Holland and France. The allies advanced from Holland in the north, and France in the South, creating a choke point to round up the German lines, and maintain all high speed avenues of approach west of Germany. This would mean that German forces would be consolidated and fortified, making it a consolidated battle of attrition. This was intended to be a battle of patience, and to wait until one force ran low enough on supplies or manpower, that the other would be overtaken with ease. Very few people could think about the idea of all information on the internet being neutral, without getting an instant opinion. The two sides are as stated: everything that comes up on the internet should be unbiased (thus resulting neutral ).
