Justin Trudeau Leadership
Justin Trudeau became the 23rd Prime Minister of Canada at 43 years of age on 4th November 2015. He represents a different and new
style of leadership. His leadership style is focussed on extending and strengthening opportunities for everyone. The leadership style,
approach to character and governing of Justin is very efficient and he acts as a team leader and not a one army man (Gour, 2016). He takes
time in taking action for any challenge and assesses it first. He focuses on direct communication among his team and citizens of Canada.
Justin Trudeau reframes adversity into opportunity as an effective leader which is evident when he became the leader of the Liberal Party
and his campaign for Prime Minister Ship (Wallenfeldt, 2017). Another ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Further, he promised to improve living conditions and mental health of indigenous communities. Further in his leadership, he met Obama
and took initiatives for protecting the environment. Therefore, he improved the strength of Canadians due to diversity and enhancing
religious tolerance of Canadians and in this way he developed his political brand image (Marland, 2013).
In his leadership, Justin has encouraged multiculturalism, prohibited discrimination, made health care reforms, legalized homosexuality,
contraception, and abortion. He has promoted multiculturalism leadership by including culturally diversified personnel in his team.
In contrast to Harper s command and control style of leadership, Justin s leadership style focuses on listening to his colleagues (Stephen
Brown, 2016). In his leadership, he recruited the most brilliant employees and challenged them to find real solutions. His leadership
theories are based on building a good team, having real, open, and direct communication, and connecting to employees and inspiring
them. Moreover, he has focussed on integrating personal relationships in his leadership style. According to him, vulnerability is more

The Downfall Of The Roman Empire
After the major downfall of the Roman Empire, much of the world that was once united by trade and wealth would now experience a time
of constant war and plague. Much of the attacks and decay, had greatly influence many people form of thinking, bringing up their
insecurity index and uncertainty of what is to come. Religion has offered many people with new hope, in which if they abide by what god
has told them to do, they will have a chance in the afterlife. With an array of new leaderships/chiefdoms that are arising between the first
and the sixteen century A.D. many leaders are faced with religion and will need to figure out ways in which religion can work for them; so
that people would be more inclined to accept the new government. Many leaders/kings would eventually give religious freedom, and
inevitably convert themselves to the religion, such as Christianity, in which will aid the religion with more followers seeing the unity of
religion and state. As nomadic people invaded into cities religions were face to either adapt to the new people or persecute non believers.
In order to fully understand the development of religion in specific civilizations, we must learn what history has taught us from
civilizations that were changed or formed from religion around the world. Consequently, we must look at how religion has shaped a
civilization from political, social, economic and cultural point of views. Christianity has taken root in the Roman Empire, and although

Workchoices Act Australia
1.1 GOVERNMENT AND ORGANISATIONAL INPUT Ryan and Herod (2006, p.494) indicates that the WorkChoices act contributed to
the decline of union membership in Australia. Prior to the commencement of the act, the rights of employers and employees were
regulated by industrial tribunals, unions and employment associations. It is detailed that the primary intentions of the WorkChoices act
was to limit the power and influence of unions and support individual bargaining in contractual agreements. It is also argued that
regulations could only be altered or changed by these counterparts, with the input of lawyers (Bray and Waring 2006, p.46), which proved
to be time consuming (Howe 2013, p.138). In addition to this, it is highlighted that many employment ... Show more content on

Chang, Travaglione and O Neill (2017, p.651) propose something similar, explaining that many join unions as a result of negative
experiences in the workplace. Marchington et al. (2016, p.299) builds on this, and suggests that employees use this to have power in
negotiations. It is argued that union members have a stronger voice in negotiating benefits, such as work hours, health insurance and sick
leave. The Australian Council of Trade Unions (ACTU) argues that those who are with a union enjoy a better salary, suggesting that are
under an agreement earn around $100 more per week (2018). Cotti, Haley and Miller (2014, p.406) build on this, also suggesting that
union members typically earn more money, but also have higher levels of satisfaction, as employees have more say in improving their

Constable Blowes-Aybar Case Study
A) The incident was not that serious, on May 28, 1997 Constable Blowes Aybar and his partner Constable Wallace stopped a citizen Mr.
O, as he rode his bicycle down the street for Highway Traffic act infractions, as a result constable Blowes Aybar unnecessary or

B) Their was a police service Act hearing, The charge was heard on September 25, 2001 before hearing officer superintendent Margo
Boyd of the Toronto Police Service. It was learned during the hearing that Boyd accepted the position at the Ontario Civilian Commission

Nestle India Case Study
1. Summary
The packets of Nestlé s Maggi 2 Minute Noodles that triggered India s worst food scare in a decade almost got lost in the post.
Returned months later to the north Indian food inspector who first sent the samples after a detour via Shimla in the Himalayas the
consignment eventually reached a laboratory in Kolkata, where tests found seven times the legal levels of lead.
From there, what began as a minor labelling dispute that according to a local magistrate could have been settled with a $400 fine, spiralled
into Nestlé s worst public relations crisis to date in India1.
At the end of May 2015, India s Food safety administration (FDA) ordered Nestlé India to recall its popular 2 minute Maggi noodles after
tests showed that the product ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A better utilization of their social presence such as Facebook, Twitter etc. and advertisement channels like YouTube and TV and
Newspapers obviously (In the Coca Cola Case they started a toll free number and created websites which included FAQs).
CSR activities could pave way for Maggi to relaunch itself again. It could bring positive review and better coverage to the brand. This
would lead to chain of events if done accurately;
A. Regain brand loyalty
B. Improved sales of product
C. Shoot up stock prices
Organize Funds: In order to work upon the above strategies a lot of funds are needed. In this time of crisis no one would lend fund to us.
So for the time being some of the fund spending in not necessary areas can be relocated to such areas (During the crisis in Coca Cola, the
company temporarily reduced employee wages by 10% and reassessed and adjusted it once the crisis was resolved).

Mr. Smith s Toy Store
*Chapter One* Mr. Smith s Toy Store There was once a small village in the mountains. It had little houses all in a row and shops with
bright objects in their windows. The baker s window was full of pies, rolls, and cakes. There was a candy shop with gumdrops, sour
candies, candy canes, and chocolates. But all the children s favorite shop was Mr. Smith s toy store. Mr. Smith was a fragile looking man,
hunched over, a thin white beard grew from his chin, so long it could have easily been tucked into his belt. He was so thin that you would
have thought that a small gust of wind would blow him away. But he had a warm contagious smile, and the children loved him. The toy
store was a large, rectangular room, with a small workshop at ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hey Gregory, one of the other children said, this one looks like you. He was pointed at one of the tin soldiers. It had bright red hair, just
like Gregory s, whose face had been smudged so he looked like he was frowning. Gregory turned towards the boy and scowled. All the
children laughed. He hit the boy as hard as he could and ran away. He took the long way home so he wouldn t have to help with dinner.
He would be scolded for it but he didn t care. On his way he saw Mrs. Penny watering her daisies. He kicked her pots over and ran away
before she could react. Where have you been, his mother asked when he walked in. No where, Gregory mumbled. Sit down before your
food gets cold. He sat down next to Timothy and across from his father. Gregory hit Neville at the toy store today, Timothy said merrily.
Gregory kicked him under the table. Did he? his father said. He deserved it. Gregory! his mother scolded. Go to bed, his father said. I m
not done yet. Go to bed. Fine. Gregory got up from the table and stomped to his room slamming the door behind him. His stomach
growled as he flopped onto his bed. How could they be mad at him? If he ever told on Timothy for doing something wrong, he would get
in trouble for not keeping a good eye on him, or for not being a perfect role model! It just wasn t fair! The next day, Gregory had to
apologize to Neville in front of all the other children! Then when they found out

TRANSNATIONAL IT OPERATIONS
A transnational company is a corporation that is registered and operates in more than one country at the same time (West s Encyclopedia
of American La., n.d.). A transnational corporation has its headquarters in one country and operates wholly or partially owned subsidiaries
in one other, or many other countries. Some companies will outsource a portion or sometimes all of their Information Technology (IT)
functions to a foreign country for a verity of reason. Companies that move a portion of their operations, such as IT, need to investigate the

_DISADVANTAGES_
There are also disadvantages for transnational companies as well as advantages. Many times these can be one and the same depending on
the perspective. As the Multilanguage abilities can be a benefit, they can also be a challenge. Even though people can speak a foreign
language, they sometimes do not understand all the inflections or the meaning of some idioms that may be common to an area that the
company serves. This can cause some annoyance and even offensive for some customers.
Another hurdle can be the lack of infrastructure in the desired area. This includes everything from the desired quantity and quality of
phone lines, OC3 or T1 lines or capability, necessary workspace for the desired employees, or the availability of hardware or ability to
obtain it where it needs to go because of the potential host nation s legal restrictions or other challenges. These obstacles can usually be
met and defeated but there are time and cost considerations in meeting these.
There are also the potential for a difficult or even hostile political climate. This consideration is one that can change rapidly in many areas
of the world, and can be quite unexpected. Conditions in Egypt, for the last few weeks can be used as an example of how a seemingly
stable country can have civil unrest quickly and unexpectedly.

Essay on Understanding the Underground Dancer
Understanding the Underground Dancer
If you have seen him in clubs, in parties, and even in the street you will surely remember him. The Underground Dancer is a figure of the
modern world that cannot be dismissed. Anthropologists explain dance as the expression of sexual desires, but the Underground Dancer is
different, and therefore, often misunderstood. It is hard to pinpoint what he is, and what he looks like, all I can provide is shots in the dark,
a desperate attempt to shed light to this misunderstood personae. The underground dancer is a spiritual beggar, a metaphorical call for
freedom, a revelrying Dionysus, an artist and a work of art he matters not merely because he is different, but because he gives us new eyes

It is his favorite song and all the dreams are flushed away, his spiteful stare returning to this oh, so dramatically cruel, vastly uncaring
world. He is not a spiteful man; he is merely sick and tired of routine, of the day in day out, of the same ol , same ol , of everyday
existence. Like an ill man he may swear inside him, and like Dostoevsky s Underground Man he will let out a high pitched cry that
speaks: Enough! This world is not enough! He is still motionless for although he wants to dance, his mind is not at ease what is the use of
dancing anyway, when all the troubles of the world burden his shoulders (Kaufmann 71, 72)? He remains inert, perhaps slightly
trembling, a tingling anticipation of an unknown surge tickling his soul. His inaction drives him insane because if he refuses to dance
without a reason, he will remain inert but if, on the other hand, dances without a reason, his lack of determination will manifest itself as
self consciousness and fall pray to the eyes of his audience. But who ever heard of rationality as prerequisite for action? The whole of
History is littered with examples of irrational choices, where man acts without consideration for reason or advantage. The Underground
Dancer realizes this, and does not wish for himself a good, virtuous or advantageous choice but simply to satisfy his own caprice, in a
sense, feed his own desire for the single most advantageous advantage : independent choice (72). He must dance,

Cooking meats on the indoor grill is easy, but it s also incredibly healthy. There are certain ways to cook the meat and ways you should

indoor grill.
Article:
You might be surprised to learn that you can cook the same meats on the indoor grill as you can on an outdoor grill. You ll be able to get

Lemon and virgin olive oil should be the key ingredients in the marinade. It ll give you healthy oils in your diet, too.
Traditional Burgers on the Grill
If you want to enjoy a grilled burger on your indoor grill, you can cook with lean hamburger. The type of the seasonings that you use will
matter for the calorie count, too. We suggest using dry seasonings that won t add many calories. Salt and pepper are simple ingredients
that can add an incredible amount of flavor. After the meat is cooked, add vegetables and onions for a great burger that doesn t need a ton
of condiments.
Instead of using hamburger or adding pork to the mixture, you can use turkey burger for a lighter alternative to burger meat. You can add
the same seasonings to the turkey and have a flavorful burger that will definitely have less fat and calories.
Either way, the grill will pull the fat and grease away from the meat and channel it down into the drip tray where you won t have to worry
about putting that grease into your body.
Pork Grilling
Any cut of pork that has loin in the name is one that has less fat. For example, pork tenderloin is one of the leanest parts of the meat.
Country style ribs have less calories than baby back or spare ribs, too. That s because country style ribs have a dry rub instead of smearing
barbecue sauce on the ribs that are filled with sugar.
You can prepare a pork chop the night

Crucible Political Allegory
The Crucible is a play by American playwright, Arthur Miller. Miller is famous for his works on relevant social issues portrayed in his
plays, often through allegorical devices. Allegory is a common device used in a wide variety of literature. I have developed the hypothesis
that The Crucible is a political allegory . I will critically review this with the focusing questions of What is a political allegory? , How
does The Crucible show elements of a political allegory? , and What can we learn about modern society from the play? . To develop and
informed critical understanding, other critical responses must be analysed. My first response is The Liberal Conscience in The Crucible by
Robert Warshow. Warshow was a well respected critic who ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I feel that one of the important things about The Crucible is how universal it is. The fact it is political allegory allows us view the true
nature of what it represents, which is important when trying to analyse modern issues and improve the human condition. In today s society
we can draw a direct parallel between the issues around LGBT rights in Uganda and the Salem trials. In Uganda we see LGBT being
actively persecuted. Newspapers print the names of those suspected of being LGBT and these people are actively persecuted by both
mobs, similar to the hysteric mob we see in various parts of the Crucible, and also the law. Laws have been passed over there which have
resulted in the courts being able to issue the death penalty to those deemed LGBT. People have been known to blame others for being
LGBT just to try and lessen their on sentence or be let off. This is a modern witch hunt happening currently. This supports the view of
Warshow when he said there will always be witch hunts (Warshow, 2008). Woolway brings up another modern equivalent when she raises
the point of the people in the US and UK who were accused of child abuse despite being innocent, as revealed later. She said The episode
has undertones of child abuse the accusation recalls recent cases in the U.S. and Britain where allegations of abuse have been made
against members of the community which have later seemed to be untrue (Woolway, n.d.). Warshow s essay was originally written the
same year as The Crucible was published, so he doesn t have a more modern recollection of something resembling the events of the
crucible, but he seems to agree with both my own, and Woolway s analysis with the statements ...we must not be misled by it s obvious
contemporary relevance: it is drama of universal significance and also ...which is why witch trials are always with us, especially today .
He seems to believe that witch hunts are a part of the human

In the words of George Washington, It is the duty of all Nations to acknowledge the providence of Almighty God, to obey his will, to be

Great Britain, when we were sensible of danger we had daily prayer in this room for the divine protection. . Our prayers, Sir, were heard,
and they were graciously answered. All of us who were engaged in the struggle must have observed frequent instances of a

stated something with so much wisdom generation after generation ought to ask themselves. And have we now forgotten that powerful

continuance of his favor and protection to these United States; to beseech him that he would be graciously pleased to influence our

* The runtime for the sequential search is N.
* The runtime for the binary search isn t found
Suppose an algorithm that processes a data set of size 8 has a runtime of 72. The same algorithm has a runtime of 110 when applied to a

Suppose you develop an algorithm that processes the first element of an array (length of n), then processes the first 2 elements, then the

Gender Roles In Star Trek Next Generation Essay
In 1966 a series called quot;Star Trek quot; was created. It s creator, Gene Roddenberry, did not create the show to be a science fiction
series. The series was much deeper than that. It wasn t just about discovering new planets and civilizations. It was about controversial
issues. Even though the series take place in the 23rd and 24th century the issues struck with the times and related current issues. Through
each series, The Original, Next Generation, Deep Space Nine and Voyager, there has been progression with the times and the issues. The
issues that surround the episodes of Star Trek include race, religion, sexuality, the depiction of science and gender roles. The central focus

There was the captain, Janeway, Kes and Seven of Nine. This series brought women into leadership roles. The progression of women in
Star Trek has been appropriately timed and has even pushed a little bit past the time. Even though Uhura basically played the role of a
secretary her role still pushed the envelope for the time because of her race. She was a black actress during or right after the civil rights
movement. She even thought of quitting the role because she felt that she wasn t used enough for her role in the series. However, after
Martin Luther King, Jr. talked to her and told her how important it would be for her to stay on the show, she did. Women in Star Trek have
progressed from a secretary type, to a doctor and counselor, to the second in command and eventually the first in command or the captain.
Their progress allows them to be more influential.
Let s talk more specifically about the Next Generation series. The Original series showed the four starring male roles to provide
everything for the crew. This is not the case in Next Generation. Next Generation is more like a family with a father, a mother and
children. But who were the biggest members of the family? There are four characters, which give the presence of a family on Next
Generation.

What is a police officer.A police officer is someone who enforces the law and makes sure people follow it.For my essay I decide that for
my research project I wanted to choose something in law enforcement, because I am really interseted in being a police officer because it
looks like a cool and interesting job..I was not sure if I wanted to be a police officer or a detective or something else but when i looked
into it more I decided that it was the right thing for me.I thought that it was the right thing for me because since i was a little kid i was
always interested in law enforcement.when i was younger i would always say that i wanted to be a firefighter or a police or S.W.A.T
officer, also when i was younger i like to watch a lot of TV shows about law enforcement like COPS,DEA,CSI,and many others. One other
reason that i think the career of a police officer would be good for me is because i like to be active and i like to be out doors alot and i
think that i would not feel comfortable in an office job because i would get really bored and i think that i would be stressed out all the
time. One other reason why i think this job is good for me is because i like to help people that are in need and that need help and because i

The generation which sustained democracy through and after...
The generation which sustained democracy through and after the Second World War is dying, and the baby boom that followed is passing
into old age (Youniss 99). An older generation can ignore addressing the issues of climate change, social security, and lack of cooperation
among elected officials, but today s children and youth have to deal with the consequences (98). A democratic society should worry
because we are not preparing youth to engage in politics and community affairs (Syvertsen et al 593). A new electorate unwilling to act
will allow these problems to continue unattended and to worsen. A democracy cannot maintain itself without active citizens, and young

These challenges demand a coherent response, forcing people to think better.
Public discussion is a key part of the deliberative arts, which teach students how to identify and develop a plan to solve a problem. The
first art is framing, in which the group identifies all potential options for achieving a goal. The next art is democratic deliberation, where
students discuss each option and judge it in relation to the group s goal. The next is working together for mutual goals, wherein each
member has to resist the urge to solve the problem on their own. Students must also learn how to work together over an extended time,
and how to evaluate their own goals, actions, and results (Fleming 43 44).
A high school business teacher in Howard, South Carolina used these practices together to show his students how to affect change. He
obtained a grant from a local university to study the community s cash flow. He took the problem to his students, who then conducted
meetings with local business owners, consulted with county auditor, and surveyed community members. From the data they found that
people were spending money in larger cities some distance away. The class published the results, and local residents read the study and
responded by buying more locally. Annual taxes exceeded projections, and the auditor estimated that taxes infused six to seven million
dollars into the local economy. This project

Steven Crane s Role in the Literary Revolution and an...
If it takes a revolutionary to topple the general way of thinking, Stephen Crane is that revolutionary for American literature. The dominant
literary movement before Crane s time, Romanticism, originated in Germany and England as a response to classicism and soon dispersed
worldwide. (McKay 766). Romanticism stressed the power of the human conscience and the intensity of emotion. It was essentially a
spiritual movement, fiercely conflicting with the rigid rules and standards of classicism and the restraint of the Enlightenment. The belief
that all humans embodied a unique greatness was widespread. Further along in history, however, came a man who sought to destroy this
confident idea from his despondent circumstances. Disenchanted by the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Crane s literary skills were also influenced from a very early age; his brother was a newspaper columnist who lived with him at home
during his youth (Szumski 14). Similarly, his parents were educated and civic minded, used to making persuasive speeches, admirers and
cultivators of the spoken word (Szumski 14). Even while being raised in an environment with such high moral expectations, Crane soon
displayed signs of independence. He dropped out of Methodist boarding school to attend a military academy, where he developed an
interest for poker and baseball, according to colleague Harvey Wickham (Szumski 14). Following a life path deviating more and more
from his family s traditionalist beliefs of faith and purity, it is clear that through these factors Crane would hone his literary skills to
combat traditional norms. Crane s decision to write a story in a context (the Civil War) with which he had no experience showed that this
stemmed from his desire to dissect the philosophy of individualism in a setting where no societal influences exist. The fact that he also
does not mention the meaning of the war and its battles demonstrates his desire to make an Everyman of Henry: he is any young man of
any era facing a trial by fire in any battle (Johnson 25). The groundbreaking theories of Charles Darwin, an English naturalist of his time,
influenced Crane s attack on individualism. Darwinism s implications questioned orthodox religious

Great Britain And The European Union
The recent decision of Great Britain to leave the European Union coincides with the recent election of Donald Trump to the presidency of
the United States. Both events can be explained by using economic and cultural arguments. In order to fully understand these occurrences,
one must understand the economic anxiety as well as the anti globalisation sentiment that surrounded the Brexit movement. Trump s
candidacy involves some of the same aspects, yet Trump s voter demographic, the white, working class, must also be studied. In the end,
it can be determined that there is arguably more of a cultural reasoning to these incidences.
The instances of Great Britain s exit from the EU and the election of Donald Trump were both so originally downplayed that when both
possibilities came to light, the world was in shock and awe. June 23, 2016 was the first shock as Great Britain held a referendum in order
to decide the question of whether or not the country should remain within the European Union. Brexit was the winning vote. Political
elites had been defeated and the complaints of the voters were heard. These complaints stemmed from economic anxiety within the
country and the demise of the support of globalisation. The Economist article, Drawbridges Up , describes the way in which voters wished
to take control of borders once again in order to slow the flow of immigrants and refugees.
The Trump candidacy shares some of the same fundamental aspects of Brexit yet Trumps true rise to

Hyperbole In Enrique s Journey
In Sonia Nazario s novel Enrique s Journey , the main character, Enrique, has his mother leave him at a very young age. She must make
the incredibly difficult decision of leaving her child to be able to fund his life. Throughout the novel, many adjectives are used to describe
the poor conditions Lourdes had to go through just to try to make a little bit of money for her family. She receives one glimpse of hope
through imagery of the United States. It is shown to us, the readers, through imagery and emotion how difficult the decision Lourdes
make is for her. Nazario writes of immigration as something that will be absolutely necessary for Lourdes, for a better life for her family.

The author also uses hyperbole to describe how Lourdes feels making the decision, and how She cannot carry Enrique s picture, or it
would melt her resolve (Nazario 4). In doing this Nazario shows the reader how Lourdes will go through all lengths to go through with her
decision or immigrating to the US, no matter how hard the decision may be. Nazario shows us through Lourdes pondering that wonders
what will happen to Enrique, and hopes that her decision is best thing she can do for him. Nazario writes that Lourdes Loves Enrique so
much that she cannot bring herself to speak a word to him (Nazario 3 and 4). We are also shown that Enrique does not understand what is
going on, and that Lourdes knows that she is going to put Enrique through terror . When Lourdes finally leaves, our author keeps the
scene simple, as to show how she (Lourdes) is dead set on this decision. Nazario writes It is January 29, 1989. Lourdes steps off the
porch. She walks away. (Nazario 5). The tone Nazario narrates with in this line shows us that Lourdes has come to terms with her choice,

College Is A Essential Tool For Life Essay
The research topic of the connection between students who are in college and the level of stress they inquire financially and generally has
had a huge impact on society. College is a very essential tool for life. College is meant to learn and experience a variety of techniques to
use in your everyday life. On the other hand, college can become a very stressful place, whether it s because of your financial status or in
general. The increase in responsibilities after transitioning from a young adolescent to an adult is a cause of stress. There are two different
sources of stress, external stress and internal stress. External stress is getting a bad grade on an assignments/test or relationship problems.
Internal stress are motivators that put high expectations on one s self to accomplish or achieve something. Financial stress is worrying
about how you are going to pay for something and where you will get the money to pay for it. In academic communities financial stress
can cause low performance in school work. Also, stress can cause the low rate of attendance in the academic communities. The amount of
workload assignment wise and job wise can significantly bring stress due to the balance between the two. A solution for financial stress
and general stress could be to make more scholarships and grants available to students, and find ways to relieve stress. In the article

Online Learning Vs. Traditional Classroom
When a person thinks of someone going to college they probably imagine them walking across a large campus or sitting in a lecture hall
among other students. While this is the way many people do choose to attend college, there are also those who have chosen to get their
degree in an online setting. Online learning gives people the opportunity to get their education in a way that is more flexible and can fit in
with their daily lives. Though both are reputable forms of higher educations, there are distinct differences between learning in a tradition
classroom and learning in an online setting.
The most obvious difference in online learning versus traditional classroom learning is the setting. Traditionally, students would gather in
a classroom where they would take notes, listen to lectures, turn in work, and take exams. Online learning, on the other hand, can take
place in multiple locations at various times. Online college programs, like Bethels, give more flexibility to students because there are no
set times for lectures. Videos of lectures and other important information relating to the class can be viewed at any time and they can also
be viewed as often as needed. Because these lectures are constantly available, student can view the videos and reading material multiple
times in order to get a better understanding of the class. Books are also commonly available within the online classroom, giving students
even more access (Bethel University, 2014). Online learning is a

The Success Of The Great Leap
In addition to hastiness, many projects failed because people lacked the skills necessary to perform them. The Great Leap did not support
educated people and therefore the projects were often run by uneducated cadres, commune managers, and often failed (310) (72). People
did not know how to do the jobs that the government forced them to do (31) (311). They plowed so deeply that the soiled had salt in it
(311). The peasants were ordered to look for uranium and petroleum in the countryside, not knowing the appearance of these resources
nor the proper way to find and collect them (31). People forced to make steel in their backyards often did not know how it was done so
that what they made was often unusable (31). Because so much of the produce was worthless, the country found that they had pledged
more exports than they had (80). A policy in 1958 was Larger imports, larger exports (78) but in 1958 they owed large amounts of money
to Hungary, Czechoslovakia, and East Germany (80) and in 1959 they were still having complaints from foreign countries about not
delivering the promised exports (81). To meet necessary exports, Mao decided that the country should cut down on meat and oil
consumption and export most of it (82). Because the government failed to properly plan the Great Leap, they did not consider that there
were skills necessary in performing various projects and that their people did not have these skills, causing their projects to fail and their

Organizational Goals
Abstract
Mission statements and organizational goals have evolved dramatically over the past twenty years. Once a mission statement was a simple
statement that conveyed why the organization existed. Now, that same statement may include information about supporting sustainability
and corporate responsibility. This document will look at trends within mission statements and goals. Organizational Goals
According to dictionary.com, a goal is defined as the result or achievement toward which the effort is directed. For each goal that an
organization sets, it also sets objectives. Objectives are short term targets with measurable results. Without clearly defined goals and
objectives, organizations will have trouble coordinating ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the Journal of Applied Management and Entrepreneurship study they look at the comparison of performance of firms with mission
statements versus those without mission statements and offer that findings have been conflicting and inconclusive. There seems to be
differing conclusions regarding the impact of mission statement presence on a firm s financial performance. As cited in Smith, Heady,
Carson, and Carson (2013) they did not find any correlation between performance and having a mission statement. However other studies
as they cite as Campbell and colleagues reported a positive relationship between mission statement presence and firm performance.
Depending on what factors or variables could play a role in the outcome of the study.
Conclusion
Many things in corporate America have changed over the past several years. Once it was acceptable to just state why an organization was
in business and you would probably see something like, to make the world s best widget and to make a profit . Consumers demand more
from the organization they support. They want to know that in the process of making the product they consume that the organization will
be socially responsible and ethical. Although there is a small amount of research conducted on organizations with mission

The Marine Corps And Amphibious Warfare
According to the 2010 Quadrennial Defense Review, it is often highlighted the US Marine Corps has not conducted an amphibious assault
since the Korean War, although technically this is not true. The Marine Corps has conducted 4 amphibious assaults in just the last 2
decades. (Emphasis added) Lt. General George Flynn argues that in the past twenty years U.S. amphibious forces have responded to crises
least one hundred and four times. These operations represent a crisis response rate more than double that of the Cold War. (Emphasis
added) In order to continue, however, the question posed must differentiate between amphibious operations and amphibious warfare
because they are not one in the same. From an economic perspective, spending billions of dollars for a military capability utilized four
times in two decades seems imprudent at best, asinine at worst. An amphibious operation is defined by the Navy as a military operation
launched from the sea by an amphibious force, embarked in ships or craft with the primary purpose of introducing a landing force ashore
to accomplish the assigned mission while amphibious warfare is defined as a type of offensive military operation that today uses naval
ships to project ground and air power onto a hostile or potentially hostile shore at a designated landing beach. (Emphasis added) For the
purpose of this paper, the assumption will remain that amphibious warfare is the idea contested by its critics. The last true offensive

Invictus is a movie based on the real life story of how Nelson Mandela united the country of South Africa through the sport of rugby. To
give some background, before Nelson Mandela became the first black president of South Africa (which made his presidency very
historic), he had been a prisoner on Robben Island for almost 30 years while South Africa was under the cruel regime of Apartheid.
Apartheid was introduced in 1948 by the white National Party government to make segregation between whites and blacks legal. The non
white majority of the population was forced to live in separate areas and used separate facilities. Contact between whites and non whites
was very restricted. Marriage between races was banned by the government. Blacks were ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
de Klerk. When Mandela was elected president, he inherited a country that was still pretty fresh out of 50 years of Apartheid rule.
Attitudes by whites and blacks don t change overnight just because there is a new president. There was huge racial tensions and rampant
poverty to deal with. Crime rates were also high. Mandela was very concerned about violence erupting between whites and non whites.
Rather than live with bitterness and resentment over his imprisonment and the terrible treatment of the black population, Mandela chose
the route of forgiveness and looked for a way to bring the country back together. Sport can be enjoyed by all parts of the population
whether rich or poor, black or white, educated or not. When Mandela publicly supported the mostly white Springbok rugby team, as a
black president, he was leading by example. What he did was completely unexpected both in the eyes of whites and non whites. He gained
the trust of whites and helped blacks see that the only way to move forward in a positive way was to forgive the sins of the past and work
for reconciliation. When the black President came out on the field for the World Cup final wearing the Springbok jersey in front of a
mostly white crowd (and in front of the world via TV) he put South Africa on a journey that would change the country forever. He

Baroque Music
In researching musical eras that have greatly influenced music, there are two that have stood out. The Baroque Era and Classical Era have
generated artists that are well known. Both eras play an important part of history with artists who have influenced artists of today. In this
essay, there will be a discussion on both types of music and differences of each. This discussion will also include a discussion on artists of
this era.
Baroque is a musical era that falls between two other important eras in music. These two eras of music are the Renaissance Era and the
Classical Era. This is roughly a period between the 1600s and 1750. The era of Baroque music was one that showed spectacular progress
of knowledge with scientific discoveries, mathematical advances, and philosophical explorations (Thornburg, 2014). The music from this
era can still be recognized today. Music from the Baroque period is the earliest European music which we still generally recognize,
whether it is the theme from Masterpiece Theater, the Hallelujah Chorus from Handel s Messiah, or any number of other pieces
(Thornburg, 2014) . Most of the Baroque music of that time was written on demand for specific occasions by those who thought of
themselves as craftsmen instead of artists. In listening to this style of music, there is a regular, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Essay On Japanese Internment
Even with an apology to Japanese Americans for their internment, the Internment is still considered a dark mark in America s history. On
December 7, 1941, The United States declared war on Japan and entered World War II out of fear and to protect its own people, The
United states set up Japanese internment camps for people of Japanese decent living in America. More than 120,000 Japanese Americans
were taken from their homes and put into these camps. America claimed that the Japanese had no rights of citizenship and that this was
the only and best way to protect The United States. The American Government tried to protect its nation at the cost of psychological and
physical distress of those in the camps who were no longer granted civil liberties or natural rights. Around 8:00 am on December 7, 1941

Changes in Japans and South Africa s Criminal Justice System
A Nations history has a strong influence on the way they decide upon new ideas and laws. Some countries undergo drastic measures in
order to change their injustice ways. Japan and South Africa both endured historical events that shaped the way their criminal justice is
now.
Japan underwent a historical event that eliminated their old constitution and originated a new one. During the Mejia restoration Japanese
feudalism was overthrown, and Japan was introduced to Western political principles (Terrill, 2016). The Mejia restoration led to a
transformation of an economic system, and from that Japan adapted their first ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Furthermore, with the reconstruction of the constitution it established a cabinet form of government with a prime minister and it created a
new judicial system (Terrill, 2016). Additionally, South Africa also experienced previous movements that have changed their criminal
justice system for the better. South Africa during 1948 1994 underwent a long period of racial discrimination from the apartheid. During
the ruling of the apartheid the blacks were segregated from the whites. The apartheid created policies in order to protect the white society
from being overpowered by the number of colored people in the country (Kopp, 2017). They wanted a clear separation of blacks and
whites. The apartheid becomes the top leaders of South Africa after the British declared victory of the South African war (Lovell, 2017).
They created laws in attempts to segregate the blacks from the whites, for example, the apartheid constructed the native land act, which
prohibited any interaction between the two races ( Lovell, 2017). The apartheid also implemented rules prohibiting black youth from
having the same education as the whites and also forcing blacks to carry around passes while they were out in the streets. As a result, to
this injustice implementation Nelson Mendela, Walter Sisulu, and Oliver Tambo formed an organization, known as the youth league
(Lovell, 2017). The youth league would participate in boycotts,

Scorecard. Finally, this formal self assessment will be carefully examined and used to create personal leadership goals.
Section 1: Self Awareness
In order to be a successful leader, I need to be able to recognize environments that will make me successful. By understanding my natural
preferences and limitations, I can pursue the right opportunities, in the right way, at the right moment, and get the results I want.
As a result of taking the DISC Assessment, I found that my primary natural style is I (Influencing, Inspiring) and my secondary style is S
(Stabilizing, Steadiness) which I found to be very accurate. My natural behaviors are relationship focused. Although, I have some
flexibility to operate within the C style (Compliant, Conscientious), the most difficult development zone for me is the D style (Dominant,
Directing) and will require a deliberate change in behavior and a great deal of energy as I fall in the lower level of this style.
1. Personal Behavioral Style
As an Inspirer, I am able to socialize easily, I like to use humor to make people feel comfortable and don t mind being around strangers. I
like to have fun and am good at building relationships with people. I prefer to persuade and influence as opposed to command and direct.

The Pros And Cons Of Workplace Privacy
There are many laws that outline workplace privacy. Although, legal protections for employee privacy rights are established in the
constitution, common laws, and statutes, it is complex to prove in the courts (Walsh, 2013). Typically, most employees have a reasonable
expectation of privacy at the workplace. Consequently, an employee s interpretation of what is reasonable, and not reasonable, may not be
defined the same by one s employer (Barendt, 2016). The principle concept most employees have, in respect to reasonable expectancy of
privacy, is also applicable to invasion of privacy claims (Barendt, 2016). According to the text, if an employee cannot be said to have had
a reasonable expectation of privacy under the circumstances , then they will not be successful with a privacy claim (Walsh, 2013, p. 582).
Nevertheless, most employers notify and/or have policies in place, which identify that employees are subject to monitoring, searches, and
other possible invasive actions (Walsh, 2013). Thus, in this case, an employee would not be deemed to have reasonable expectations of
privacy. Needless to say, if an employer does not have existing policies in place to establish an expectation of privacy, a privacy claim
would be warranted (Walsh, 2013). Furthermore, the United States continues to adapt laws to protect privacy rights (King, 2016). Silicon
Valley is generating new internet companies, which profit solely on their capability to supply third parties with

A. Agile
Agile Software Development is an umbrella term for a set of methods and practices based on the values and principles expressed in the
Agile Manifesto. Solutions evolve through collaboration between self organizing, cross functional teams utilizing the appropriate
practices for their context (Agile Alliance, 2015).
Agile Manifesto defines the importance of
Individuals and interactions over processes and tools

The Picture Of Dorian Gray, Against Nature, And The Yellow
True Decadence It is vague, underrated, barely recognized, and yet it seems to have embedded itself into movies, TV, video games, and
most of all, literature. Decadence literally means the moral decaying of society and has been a theme utilized in both writing and our
modern media for decades, even if it was not directly intended to be so. Literary works that helped establish this tendency include The
Picture of Dorian Gray, Against Nature, and The Yellow Book. Delving into the subject, it is easy to conclude that such a theme is meant
to present unconventional and sometimes controversial ideas in a an overly romanticized way and express the author s perspective of such
ideas that may influence the reader into seeing the value, if any,

Theme Of Animals In 1984
The animals of Orwell s novels often represent a much less clear cut purpose than those of his reflections in Burma. Here the animals are
fully symbolic, and appear not initially for accuracy of events, but to specifically bring meaning and significance to human plight or
human interaction. Although Orwell invokes this animal symbolism in his earlier novels including Burmese Days, Orwell s use of the
nature of animals for political understanding and motivation is best seen in his last two novels, 1984 and Animal Farm. Rats are used as a
form of torture in 1984, as the protagonist Winston s deepest fear. At the base level, rats represent a fear of disease, danger, lurking, death,
and darkness that is reflected throughout human history. Orwell ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

INTJ s are perfectionist while some may consider this a bit of a weakness, I don t think it s such a bad thing. INTJ see that there is always
room to improve and learn more, especially about things that they find interesting. Another strength is having the combination of both
imagination and reliability, this is good when it comes to working on projects or coming up with an idea for something, because not only
can you envision what it will be but you can decide realistically if it will work. Butt and Heiss (n.d.) say that INTJ s are also good at
seeing opportunities other people may not. The high introvert score indicates I am much better at working alone then with the help of
others, and normally working on something until it is completed. When it comes to other strengths, INTJ s will work extremely hard in
relationships and are very good at picking up people s emotions. This is part of the intuitive dimension. Thinkers are good at making
strong decisions based on rational information rather than ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When it comes to preferred activities the introvert in me will ideally cuddle up with a blanket and book or even have a good friend over to
watch a movie. INTJ enjoy activities that involve just themselves, one or two people in a calm and preferably quite environment. Things
like visiting a library, museum or taking a walk in the park. However, the judging part will want to make sure whatever activity is done
has been planned

The Darfur Genocide
The United Nations has described it as the world s worst humanitarian crisis . As of 2003, the Darfur genocide is being carried out by the
Sudanese armed forces and funded Arab militias known as the Janjaweed. These militias are historic rivals of the rebel groups known as
the Sudanese Liberation Movement (SLM), and the Justice and Equality Movement (JEM). Darfur is a region in western Sudan on the
border of Chad, Libya, and the Central African Republic. Darfur is estimated to have about 6 million people living there. The conflict
started in 2003 and has continued through today. The Janjaweed were accused of oppressing Darfur s non Arab population. The Janjaweed
are destroying Darfurians by burning villages, polluting water, murdering, raping ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
About 2.3 million Darfurians have fled their homes and communities and now reside in displaced person camps in Darfur. It has started
spilling over into neighboring countries such as Chad and the Central African Republic. There are still over 200,000 more Darfurians
living in refugee camps in Chad. Immediately after the Janjaweed entered the conflict, the rape of women and young girls, often by
multiple militiamen and often throughout entire nights, began to be reported at a staggering rate. Children as young as 2 years old were
reported victims, while mothers were assaulted in front of their children.Young women were attacked so violently that they were unable to
walk following the attack. .. These refugees and IDPs are almost entirely dependent on the United Nations and other humanitarian
organizations for their basic needs food, water, shelter, and health care. (The Genocide in Darfur). The Darfurians that are still living in
their country are feeling as though they are under a constant threat or being tortured, raped and murdered. In October 2004, 7,400 troops
and personnel were sent by the U.N peacekeeping forces to Darfur. In the summer of 2007, outbreaks of violence between some of the
Arab tribes that worked together as part of the Janjaweed began to occur more frequently. The United Nations recently reported

Essay about External Auditors Must be Independent
2001. It was the year that every individual; man, woman and children on Earth would remember. There was the September 11 event which
was considered the worst terrorist attack that has happened in U.S. history, killing a total of 2, 977 people. And not long after that, in the
business world, on December 2, the greatest corporate failure was exposed. The crash of Enron in US, followed by the worldwide collapse
of its auditor, Arthur Andersen became one the most popular accounting scandal where it is still being talked about even after a decade has
passed. Following this scandal, other massive organizations like WorldCom (2002), AIG (2004), and Satyam Computer Services (2009)
shared the same fate. Since then, there have been questions being ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The presence of an external auditor allows creditors, investors or bankers to use financial statements that have been prepared with
confidence. Although it does not guarantee the accuracy of a financial statement, it provides users with some reassurance that a company s
financial statements give a true and fair view of its financial position and its business operations. It also provides credibility, where in
business, is a major asset. With credibility, the willingness of investors, bankers and others to relate and undertake business projects with a
company increases. Credibility is also important to build positive reputations.
Internal auditors cannot effectively provide an analysis on the company s internal dealings as they are part of the company. External
auditors, however, can observe these processes from the outside and then determine where the funds of the company and whether the
dealings adhere to the regulations. Using external auditors in a company prevents conflict of interest from happening. Conflict of interest
is a situation where an individual or organization has multiple interests and of those multiple interests, one could possible corrupt the
motivation for an act on the other when the auditor has any kind of beneficial interest in their client s performance. In other circumstances,
there is also the threat of familiarity where auditors become

The Harm of Puppy Mills
So you want to adopt a puppy? Well there are two main places that your puppy could have been born. First, your puppy could have been
born at a puppy mill. This is an inhumane, mass breeding location that can be very detrimental to your new pet. Another location that your
puppy could have been born at is a breeder. This is a more humane location for your puppy to have been born. When adopting a puppy
you should avoid going to a pet store because most pet stores receive their puppies from puppy mills; inhumane and overpopulated puppy
breeding places.
The term puppy mill is used quite frequently when discussing animal cruelty. This term does not have a specific dictionary definition. A
puppy mill is essentially a large scale puppy breeding ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
10). Some of the inhumane features of the puppy mills include that the puppies are housed in small, wire cages, more fearful through life
due to the lack of early human interaction (Peters 5), and when there is no human contact made with the puppies, it can cause post
traumatic behavior in the animals (Peters 3).
A second horrible feature about puppy mills is that they are overpopulated. They are mass bred in warehouses. Breeding takes place in
warehouses because there is a lot of space for the 70+ breeds that are in a mill (Dionne 7). According to the ASPCA, the female dogs are
bred every time that they are in heat and when they cannot be bred anymore, they are killed. Pamela Sacks has also researched the same
things that the ASPCA has and she additionally found out that mill dogs are bred consistently until they can no longer be bred then they
are killed (par.4). It is a common thought that puppy mills do not breed purebred dogs. According to Dionne, mills breed both purebred
and mix breed dogs (7). A mix breed dog would be one that is a combination of two or more breeds. For example, a goldendoodle is a mix
breed dog. It is a combination of a golden retriever and a poodle. A purebred dog is one that has two parents of the same breed. For
example, a Yorkshire Terrier is a purebred. Both of its parents were Yorkshire Terriers so the

No Heroes, No Villains By Steven Phillips
In the short book of No Heroes, No Villains by Steven Phillips On June 28, 1972, a Transit Authority patrolman, John Skagen, was on his
way home from testifying at court for an arrest he made a couple of weeks prior. Skagen was taking the train home to the Bronx when he
saw and stopped James Richardson who was awaiting the subway train which would take him to work at Lincoln Hospital. Skagen
ordered him to put up your hands, and get against the wall . Skagen s actions seem unprovoked and unnecessary. After a short tussle the
two men exchanged shots and Richardson fled the scene on foot. Two other officers that were on the main street above the subway station
rushed to the scene. As they approached the entrance of the station, Richardson who was fleeing the scene ran directly into one of the
officers. One of the officer noticed Richardson was shot and attempted to stop Richardson. The other officer continued down into the
subway and witnesses Skagen holding his gun and pointing it towards him, the officer emptied his gun into Skagen who was able to let off
one round prior to the officer shooting him. Richardson was later apprehended and taken to the emergency room for his wounds. His gun
was also retrieved. Skagen was rushed to the same hospital emergency room where he was pronounced dead. Richardson confessed to
shooting Skagen and revealed that there were only four rounds exchanged between the two men. Skagen s autopsy revealed that he had
been shot five times and

His leadership style is focussed on extending and strengthening opportunities for everyone. The leadership style, approach to character and governing of Justin is very efficient and he acts as a team leader and not a one army man (Gour, 2016). He takes time in taking action for any challenge and assesses it first. He focuses on direct communication among his team and citizens of Canada. The Downfall Of The Roman Empire After the major downfall of the Roman Empire, much of the world that was once united by trade and wealth would now experience a time of constant war and plague. Much of the attacks and decay, had greatly influence many people form of thinking, bringing up their insecurity index and uncertainty of what is to come. Religion has offered many people with new hope, in which if they abide by what god has told them to do, they will have a chance in the afterlife. With an array of new leaderships/chiefdoms that are arising between the first and the sixteen century A.D. many leaders are faced with religion and will need to figure out ways in which religion can work for them; so that people would be more inclined to accept the new government. Many leaders/kings would eventually give religious freedom, and inevitably convert themselves to the religion, such as Christianity, in which will aid the religion with more followers seeing the unity of religion and state. As nomadic people invaded into cities religions were face to either adapt to the new people or persecute non believers. In order to fully understand the development of religion in specific civilizations, we must learn what history has taught us from civilizations that were changed or formed from religion around the world. Consequently, we must look at how religion has shaped a civilization from political, social, economic and cultural point of views. Prior to the commencement of the act, the rights of employers and employees were regulated by industrial tribunals, unions and employment associations. It is detailed that the primary intentions of the WorkChoices act was to limit the power and influence of unions and support individual bargaining in contractual agreements. It is also argued that regulations could only be altered or changed by these counterparts, with the input of lawyers (Bray and Waring 2006, p.46), which proved to be time consuming (Howe 2013, p.138). In addition to this, it is highlighted that many employment ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is argued that union members have a stronger voice in negotiating benefits, such as work hours, health insurance and sick leave. The Australian Council of Trade Unions (ACTU) argues that those who are with a union enjoy a better salary, suggesting that are under an agreement earn around $100 more per week (2018). It is hard to pinpoint what he is, and what he looks like, all I can provide is shots in the dark, a desperate attempt to shed light to this misunderstood personae. Like an ill man he may swear inside him, and like Dostoevsky s Underground Man he will let out a high pitched cry that speaks: Enough! This world is not enough! He is still motionless for although he wants to dance, his mind is not at ease what is the use of dancing anyway, when all the troubles of the world burden his shoulders (Kaufmann 71, 72)? He remains inert, perhaps slightly trembling, a tingling anticipation of an unknown surge tickling his soul. His inaction drives him insane because if he refuses to dance without a reason, he will remain inert but if, on the other hand, dances without a reason, his lack of determination will manifest itself as self consciousness and fall pray to the eyes of his audience. But who ever heard of rationality as prerequisite for action? The whole of History is littered with examples of irrational choices, where man acts without consideration for reason or advantage. • 12. Crucible Political Allegory The Crucible is a play by American playwright, Arthur Miller. Miller is famous for his works on relevant social issues portrayed in his plays, often through allegorical devices. Allegory is a common device used in a wide variety of literature. I have developed the hypothesis that The Crucible is a political allegory . I will critically review this with the focusing questions of What is a political allegory? , How does The Crucible show elements of a political allegory? , and What can we learn about modern society from the play? . To develop and informed critical understanding, other critical responses must be analysed. My first response is The Liberal Conscience in The Crucible by Robert Warshow. The fact it is political allegory allows us view the true nature of what it represents, which is important when trying to analyse modern issues and improve the human condition. In today s society we can draw a direct parallel between the issues around LGBT rights in Uganda and the Salem trials. In Uganda we see LGBT being actively persecuted. Newspapers print the names of those suspected of being LGBT and these people are actively persecuted by both mobs, similar to the hysteric mob we see in various parts of the Crucible, and also the law. Laws have been passed over there which have resulted in the courts being able to issue the death penalty to those deemed LGBT. People have been known to blame others for being LGBT just to try and lessen their on sentence or be let off. This is a modern witch hunt happening currently. This supports the view of Warshow when he said there will always be witch hunts (Warshow, 2008). Woolway brings up another modern equivalent when she raises the point of the people in the US and UK who were accused of child abuse despite being innocent, as revealed later. She said The episode has undertones of child abuse the accusation recalls recent cases in the U.S. and Britain where allegations of abuse have been made against members of the community which have later seemed to be untrue (Woolway, n.d.). Warshow s essay was originally written the same year as The Crucible was published, so he doesn t have a more modern recollection of something resembling the events of the crucible, but he seems to agree with both my own, and Woolway s analysis with the statements ...we must not be misled by it s obvious contemporary relevance: it is drama of universal significance and also ...which is why witch trials are always with us, especially today . She was a black actress during or right after the civil rights movement. She even thought of quitting the role because she felt that she wasn t used enough for her role in the series. However, after Martin Luther King, Jr. talked to her and told her how important it would be for her to stay on the show, she did. Women in Star Trek have progressed from a secretary type, to a doctor and counselor, to the second in command and eventually the first in command or the captain. Their progress allows them to be more influential. Let s talk more specifically about the Next Generation series. The Original series showed the four starring male roles to provide everything for the crew. This is not the case in Next Generation. Next Generation is more like a family with a father, a mother and children. But who were the biggest members of the family? There are four characters, which give the presence of a family on Next Generation. First, you have the father. This is actually quite simple. You have Captain Picard who plays the father. The generation which sustained democracy through and after the Second World War is dying, and the baby boom that followed is passing into old age (Youniss 99). An older generation can ignore addressing the issues of climate change, social security, and lack of cooperation among elected officials, but today s children and youth have to deal with the consequences (98). A democratic society should worry because we are not preparing youth to engage in politics and community affairs (Syvertsen et al 593). These challenges demand a coherent response, forcing people to think better. Public discussion is a key part of the deliberative arts, which teach students how to identify and develop a plan to solve a problem. The first art is framing, in which the group identifies all potential options for achieving a goal. The next art is democratic deliberation, where students discuss each option and judge it in relation to the group s goal. The next is working together for mutual goals, wherein each member has to resist the urge to solve the problem on their own. Students must also learn how to work together over an extended time, and how to evaluate their own goals, actions, and results (Fleming 43 44). A high school business teacher in Howard, South Carolina used these practices together to show his students how to affect change. He obtained a grant from a local university to study the community s cash flow. He took the problem to his students, who then conducted meetings with local business owners, consulted with county auditor, and surveyed community members. From the data they found that people were spending money in larger cities some distance away. The class published the results, and local residents read the study and responded by buying more locally. Annual taxes exceeded projections, and the auditor estimated that taxes infused six to seven million dollars into the local economy. This project ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 20. Steven Crane s Role in the Literary Revolution and an... If it takes a revolutionary to topple the general way of thinking, Stephen Crane is that revolutionary for American literature. The dominant literary movement before Crane s time, Romanticism, originated in Germany and England as a response to classicism and soon dispersed worldwide. (McKay 766). Romanticism stressed the power of the human conscience and the intensity of emotion. It was essentially a spiritual movement, fiercely conflicting with the rigid rules and standards of classicism and the restraint of the Enlightenment. The belief that all humans embodied a unique greatness was widespread. Further along in history, however, came a man who sought to destroy this confident idea from his despondent circumstances. Crane s literary skills were also influenced from a very early age; his brother was a newspaper columnist who lived with him at home during his youth (Szumski 14). Similarly, his parents were educated and civic minded, used to making persuasive speeches, admirers and cultivators of the spoken word (Szumski 14). Even while being raised in an environment with such high moral expectations, Crane soon displayed signs of independence. He dropped out of Methodist boarding school to attend a military academy, where he developed an interest for poker and baseball, according to colleague Harvey Wickham (Szumski 14). Following a life path deviating more and more from his family s traditionalist beliefs of faith and purity, it is clear that through these factors Crane would hone his literary skills to combat traditional norms. Crane s decision to write a story in a context (the Civil War) with which he had no experience showed that this stemmed from his desire to dissect the philosophy of individualism in a setting where no societal influences exist. The fact that he also does not mention the meaning of the war and its battles demonstrates his desire to make an Everyman of Henry: he is any young man of any era facing a trial by fire in any battle (Johnson 25). The groundbreaking theories of Charles Darwin, an English naturalist of his time, influenced Crane s attack on individualism. Darwinism s implications questioned orthodox religious ... • 21. Great Britain And The European Union The recent decision of Great Britain to leave the European Union coincides with the recent election of Donald Trump to the presidency of the United States. Both events can be explained by using economic and cultural arguments. In order to fully understand these occurrences, one must understand the economic anxiety as well as the anti globalisation sentiment that surrounded the Brexit movement. Trump s candidacy involves some of the same aspects, yet Trump s voter demographic, the white, working class, must also be studied. In the end, it can be determined that there is arguably more of a cultural reasoning to these incidences. The instances of Great Britain s exit from the EU and the election of Donald Trump were both so originally downplayed that when both possibilities came to light, the world was in shock and awe. June 23, 2016 was the first shock as Great Britain held a referendum in order to decide the question of whether or not the country should remain within the European Union. Brexit was the winning vote. Political elites had been defeated and the complaints of the voters were heard. These complaints stemmed from economic anxiety within the country and the demise of the support of globalisation. The Economist article, Drawbridges Up , describes the way in which voters wished to take control of borders once again in order to slow the flow of immigrants and refugees. College is a very essential tool for life. College is meant to learn and experience a variety of techniques to use in your everyday life. On the other hand, college can become a very stressful place, whether it s because of your financial status or in general. The increase in responsibilities after transitioning from a young adolescent to an adult is a cause of stress. There are two different sources of stress, external stress and internal stress. Online learning gives people the opportunity to get their education in a way that is more flexible and can fit in with their daily lives. Though both are reputable forms of higher educations, there are distinct differences between learning in a tradition classroom and learning in an online setting. The most obvious difference in online learning versus traditional classroom learning is the setting. Traditionally, students would gather in a classroom where they would take notes, listen to lectures, turn in work, and take exams. Online learning, on the other hand, can take place in multiple locations at various times. Online college programs, like Bethels, give more flexibility to students because there are no set times for lectures. Videos of lectures and other important information relating to the class can be viewed at any time and they can also be viewed as often as needed. Because these lectures are constantly available, student can view the videos and reading material multiple times in order to get a better understanding of the class. • 36. The Pros And Cons Of Workplace Privacy There are many laws that outline workplace privacy. Although, legal protections for employee privacy rights are established in the constitution, common laws, and statutes, it is complex to prove in the courts (Walsh, 2013). Typically, most employees have a reasonable expectation of privacy at the workplace. Consequently, an employee s interpretation of what is reasonable, and not reasonable, may not be defined the same by one s employer (Barendt, 2016). The principle concept most employees have, in respect to reasonable expectancy of privacy, is also applicable to invasion of privacy claims (Barendt, 2016). According to the text, if an employee cannot be said to have had a reasonable expectation of privacy under the circumstances , then they will not be successful with a privacy claim (Walsh, 2013, p. 582). Nevertheless, most employers notify and/or have policies in place, which identify that employees are subject to monitoring, searches, and other possible invasive actions (Walsh, 2013). Thus, in this case, an employee would not be deemed to have reasonable expectations of privacy. Needless to say, if an employer does not have existing policies in place to establish an expectation of privacy, a privacy claim would be warranted (Walsh, 2013). Furthermore, the United States continues to adapt laws to protect privacy rights (King, 2016). • 38. The Picture Of Dorian Gray, Against Nature, And The Yellow True Decadence It is vague, underrated, barely recognized, and yet it seems to have embedded itself into movies, TV, video games, and most of all, literature. Decadence literally means the moral decaying of society and has been a theme utilized in both writing and our modern media for decades, even if it was not directly intended to be so. Literary works that helped establish this tendency include The Picture of Dorian Gray, Against Nature, and The Yellow Book. Delving into the subject, it is easy to conclude that such a theme is meant to present unconventional and sometimes controversial ideas in a an overly romanticized way and express the author s perspective of such ideas that may influence the reader into seeing the value, if any, ... • 39. Theme Of Animals In 1984 The animals of Orwell s novels often represent a much less clear cut purpose than those of his reflections in Burma. Here the animals are fully symbolic, and appear not initially for accuracy of events, but to specifically bring meaning and significance to human plight or human interaction. Although Orwell invokes this animal symbolism in his earlier novels including Burmese Days, Orwell s use of the nature of animals for political understanding and motivation is best seen in his last two novels, 1984 and Animal Farm. Rats are used as a form of torture in 1984, as the protagonist Winston s deepest fear. Benton Jay Komins in his article Western Culture and the Ambiguous Legacies of the Pig explores the anthropomorphization of the ruling pigs of Animal Farm, and its reflection on Orwell s opinions of socialist revolution and fascism. The form of pigs for the dictators of Animal Farm reflect specifically in western culture and perception of their relationships to human beings, media portrayal, and ultimately as a tool to define what is civilized and [sic] uncivilized (1). In specific relation to Orwell, Komins cites the general demonization of the carnivorous pig in Animal Farm to reflect our own human capacities. Instead of comparing pigs to humans, Orwell compares humans to the nature of pigs, blurring the lines between the two, allowing the reader to locate our own exploitative capacities within the beast s meanings (6). • 40. Personality Typology Self Assessment Paper Personality Typology Self Assessment Kaitlyn C. Aurigemma St. Petersburg College After taking Jung s typology test I received the personality type INTJ. The introvert score given was a 59 percent, intuitive 16 percent, thinking 25 percent and judging 56 percent. Based on these scores I took a look at what my strengths would be. According to the website used to take the test one strength would be that INTJ s are perfectionist while some may consider this a bit of a weakness, I don t think it s such a bad thing. INTJ see that there is always room to improve and learn more, especially about things that they find interesting. Another strength is having the combination of both imagination and reliability, this is good when it comes to working on projects or coming up with an idea for something, because not only can you envision what it will be but you can decide realistically if it will work. Butt and Heiss (n.d.) say that INTJ s are also good at seeing opportunities other people may not. The high introvert score indicates I am much better at working alone then with the help of others, and normally working on something until it is completed. When it comes to other strengths, INTJ s will work extremely hard in relationships and are very good at picking up people s emotions. This is part of the intuitive dimension. • 44. The Harm of Puppy Mills So you want to adopt a puppy? Well there are two main places that your puppy could have been born. First, your puppy could have been born at a puppy mill. This is an inhumane, mass breeding location that can be very detrimental to your new pet. Another location that your puppy could have been born at is a breeder. This is a more humane location for your puppy to have been born. When adopting a puppy you should avoid going to a pet store because most pet stores receive their puppies from puppy mills; inhumane and overpopulated puppy breeding places. Some of the inhumane features of the puppy mills include that the puppies are housed in small, wire cages, more fearful through life due to the lack of early human interaction (Peters 5), and when there is no human contact made with the puppies, it can cause post traumatic behavior in the animals (Peters 3). A second horrible feature about puppy mills is that they are overpopulated. They are mass bred in warehouses. Breeding takes place in warehouses because there is a lot of space for the 70+ breeds that are in a mill (Dionne 7). According to the ASPCA, the female dogs are bred every time that they are in heat and when they cannot be bred anymore, they are killed. Pamela Sacks has also researched the same things that the ASPCA has and she additionally found out that mill dogs are bred consistently until they can no longer be bred then they are killed (par.4). It is a common thought that puppy mills do not breed purebred dogs. According to Dionne, mills breed both purebred and mix breed dogs (7). A mix breed dog would be one that is a combination of two or more breeds. For example, a goldendoodle is a mix breed dog. It is a combination of a golden retriever and a poodle. A purebred dog is one that has two parents of the same breed. For example, a Yorkshire Terrier is a purebred. Both of its parents were Yorkshire Terriers so the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 45. No Heroes, No Villains By Steven Phillips In the short book of No Heroes, No Villains by Steven Phillips On June 28, 1972, a Transit Authority patrolman, John Skagen, was on his way home from testifying at court for an arrest he made a couple of weeks prior. Skagen was taking the train home to the Bronx when he saw and stopped James Richardson who was awaiting the subway train which would take him to work at Lincoln Hospital. Skagen ordered him to put up your hands, and get against the wall . Skagen s actions seem unprovoked and unnecessary. After a short tussle the two men exchanged shots and Richardson fled the scene on foot. Two other officers that were on the main street above the subway station rushed to the scene. As they approached the entrance of the station, Richardson who was fleeing the scene ran directly into one of the officers. One of the officer noticed Richardson was shot and attempted to stop Richardson. The other officer continued down into the subway and witnesses Skagen holding his gun and pointing it towards him, the officer emptied his gun into Skagen who was able to let off one round prior to the officer shooting him. Richardson was later apprehended and taken to the emergency room for his wounds. His gun was also retrieved. Skagen was rushed to the same hospital emergency room where he was pronounced dead. Richardson confessed to shooting Skagen and revealed that there were only four rounds exchanged between the two men. Skagen s autopsy revealed that he had been shot five times and ...
