any inductive argument. But it is important to recognize that not all evidence is reliable. Some types of
evidence can t be trusted at all. And even when good evidence is used, it might not be appropriate for

The Film, Psycho directed by Alfred Hitchcock, effectively presented the ideas of murder and
schizophrenia through the use of characters, particularly with the double sided Norman Bates. Sound

interpreted in the movie Psycho through the use of characters. The character of Norman Bates was the
central character in the film and had a complex and differing personality. One moment he was shy,

and so was washing herself physically and symbolically in the shower. Washing away her sin and
guilt, because in the morning she would own up to her crime, pay for it, and start again, guilt free.
This worked well to add greater emphasis on the shower scene, because at this turning point in the plot
we see she has made a good decision to set things right. It is almost unbelievable that Marion could be
murdered at this high point. Nonetheless, the film goes on with her murder, which is a very shocking
sequence because it happens quickly; as the knife stabs Marion, we see the figure of Mrs. Bates a
figure in a dress with a woman s hat on. We are led to assume it is Mrs. Bates, and we are given a big

Compare and contrast the various early European urban theorists as found in Chapter 1 of the course
text. (300 400 words)
The two theorists i ve decided to compare and contrast are Karl Marx and Emile Durkheim. Firstly i ll
compare them to one another. From all the readings I did and past education on these individuals I
found they have a lot of the same views in regards to religion. Both Emlie Durkheim and Karl Marx
believe that religion is a projection of mans hopes and desires. They both also agree that religion plays
a powerful role in influencing the members of a society. While coming up with these theories they
were both more concerned with the human rather than the religion. Both of them did not believe in a
god or gods. It s been said that Marx saw god as idealization of human nature while Durkheim
believed the idea of a god was society itself. They were not religious people so it s interesting that
they did have some of the same views and theories regarding religion in the society.
The differences between them are pretty simple. As I was previously comparing their views on
religion I can continue that with talking about their differences in regards to religion, Marx argues that
religion oppresses the people in the society while Durkheim argues that religion unites the society.
Further; Emile Durkheim was a Functionalist, meaning he looked at society in a scientific way. He
believed that members of the same society all wanted the same

Introduction: *demonstrate a sound*
Describe the structure of the ear. The Pinna is a ridged cartilage flap covered by skin. The Meatus is
made up of skin and bone. The Tympanic Membrane, is a concave shaped layer of membrane with the
visual of a flattened cone (AAC). The hammer doesn t really live up to its name, it looks more like a
golf club. The Anvil resembles a snag tooth while the stirrup mirrors its name. The Cochlea is a
membrane covered spiral shaped tube. The Auditory nerve is made up of several tubes ending in
terminals.

Outer Ear: The Pinna gathers sound and sends it down the ear canal. The twists and folds of the pinna
enhance high frequency (pitched) sounds and also help us to determine the direction of the sound
source (AAC). Ear wax is developed by two thirds of the ear s external canal, the remaining is bone.
The Meatus or ear canal is a 2 3 cm of cartilage that strengthens the sound coming in. Middle Ear: The
Tympanic Membrane is hit by sound waves causing the eardrum to vibrate as such then transferring
that energy into mechanical energy. Out of the eardrum and onto three bones, Malleus which is
connected to the drum passing sounds on to the Incus that sits on top of the hammer and collects
vibrations. Ending with the Stapes which is responsible for compression of the waves so they can
travel through the inner ear. The Cochlea is home to many nerve cells that are capable of damaging
and are impossible to grow back. The Cochlea s frequency selectivity refers to the ability of the
auditory system to identify tonal components in complex sound. It largely depends on the filtering
ability of the cochlea and its tuning properties are determine by the amplification mechanisms of the

Think about someone you care about very strongly. Now imagine two other people you also care
about. Now imagine that the second and third person you thought of have been shot dead, and you
found their bodies. Then imagine that the first person you thought of was the prime suspect and most

This edict of Zeus summarizes the journey Odysseus makes in order to return home. He endures dire
hardships to make the journey home, yet he still chooses to continue forward. Although Odysseus
accepts this hardship as a mere speed bump, many people today would not prevail through such
adversity. A knack for finding the easy way out has seemed to blossom as the one uniform skill
possessed by most young people today. With today s technology, a person rarely spends an afternoon
by himself, and if so, would not like it. With this in mind, choosing to continue on with the journey in
present times would be much harder of a decision to make than in ancient times.
Another problem around school campuses is the growing rate of alcohol and drug abuse amongst
students. Extreme marijuana usage has taken claim to many victims. The drug may not kill the person
using it, but it does kill motivation. The drug becomes a part of the user s life, and the user will
eventually become lethargic. This lethargy continues to increase until most productive activities are
eliminated. Although Odysseus s crew did not have marijuana on their ship, his crew did encounter a

Youth Center Experience
I have loved being part of my Air Force youth center, 4 H and BGCA Club for nearly 7 years. My
Youth Center and Club has given me so many amazing opportunities to interact with other kids my
own age, as well as being a mentor to the younger kids. We moved to Grand Forks, ND from Naples,
Italy in 2011. This was a really difficult time for me as we had been living overseas for 11 years. I had
only known Guam and Italy, so moving to the States was a huge adjustment.
I began to attend Thompson Middle School which did not go very well in the beginning. I was very

The Middle East On Social Media
The term don t judge a book by it s cover has so much meaning to it and since the dawn of time our
world as we know it is taken by labels that we live by today. My ethnicity alone has these very labels
that by nature have grown on one another. When one would talk about the middle east on social media
the first thing that comes to mind is the war and countless bloodshed that spilled and the impact it had
on many lives. All the stories distributed by social media display attacks and war in the middle east,
portray all middle easterners to be muslim, and only tell the tale of terrorists to the public.
Social media is only showing people, very little stories about Middle Easterners. One of those
shameful stories is the tale of war, violence, and suffering. A few misconceptions people have is that
all Middle Eastern s are dangerous. This is due to social media and the tales being spread. Anne
Barnard says in her article for The New York Times, Lebanon has weathered waves of political
assassinations, street skirmishes and wars; Israeli airstrikes leveled whole apartment blocks in 2006 .
Anne Barnard may not realize it, but she is distributing one story about the Lebanon, my home
country. Which, is really a beautiful country with many small towns and tight communities. Yes, there
is the story of war and violence, but there is also a story of family and culture. No one hears about the
