2. Descriptive Essay About Homework
Gemless As I parked in the gravel filled lot I settled in my car for a few minutes contemplating
homework from each of my classes. I stepped outside with my belongings; there was a slight breeze
from the remnants of Hurricane Harvey. Clouds dotted the orange tinted sky as the sun tried to climb
up to be fully seen. The day right from the start seemed like a good day so I went about smiling and
walked blissfully to my normal seat next to my friends. We prepared for the coming classes that day.
The deafening bell sounded and we were on our way to start the actual day. My classmates and I
walked joyfully through the hallways, joking and laughing before reaching our first period destination.
I made my way to the front of the classroom and sat down. The air was crisp so I took out my jacket
and put it on. Our teacher walked in a few minutes late and started to take attendance. The whole
classroom focused on him. After he finished taking attendance, he slowly reached down into a drawer
and pulled out a stack of papers. I stared in disbelief. The stack of papers he pulled out was actually a
pop test. I took the pop test trying to recall everything that we had learned over the course of two
weeks. I focused on the test for most of the class period and finally turned it in. The morning weather
seemed to just be a ruse. This was not a blissful or good day; it took a turn for the worst. I sat there in
the chilling room trying to think of something else to keep

Psychological Debriefing a Harmful Intervention for Survivors of Trauma?
1. What are at least two facts presented by each side of the critical issue? Devilly Cotton who
represent the con side of the agreement present many different facts. Two that stand out is: that
psychological debriefing . . . more of a moral maintenance intervention qua gesture of employer
support, rather than a clinical intervention influencing distress and clinical symptomatolgy. (Halgin,

What are some of the weaknesses?
I believe the strength of Davilly and Cotton was that they took the time to define and try to show the
differences between Critical Incident Stress Debriefing and Critical Incident Stress Management. As
well as defining what psychology debriefing entails.
Their weakness would be it was how to read, it did not flow easy for the readers and somewhat
confusing. Also another weakness which was pointed out by Mitchell was that they did not seem to do
much deep research for other papers written on the topic.
5. How credible were the authors of each argument? Explain your answer.
Davilly Cotton when to detail on what psychological debriefing was and how there are many different
forms of it with: Critical Incident Stress Debriefing and Critical Incident Stress Management. Also
how these two really kind of play hand in hand and might be the same thing. Therefore it is hard to tell
the difference between the two. They tried to break down how these two systems work and the
outcomes of such programs.
Mitchell was credible in from the first paragraph notes that In 1983 I wrote the first article ever
written on Critical Incident Stress Debriefing. . . (Halgin, 2009, p. 78). Uses the programs during an
event rather than after.

to increase cost of crime by increasing punishment in prison. It will help measure deterrence, and if it

5. Analysis Of Daniel Defoe s The Life And Adventures Of...
People have always wanted more power, wealth, or food than what was needed. This desire causes
greed in society. Greed in a culture or society will cause the destruction of that society. From Adam
and Eve consuming of the fruit from the tree of knowledge to the failure of companies and businesses
in today s society, the desire for wants instead of needs has a negative impact (Clark par. 5). In 1719,
Daniel Defoe had written a novel in which a main theme is greed. In Daniel Defoe s, The Life and
Adventures of Robinson Crusoe, the protagonist, Robinson Crusoe, begins a journey packed with
many misfortunes all over the world, caused by his desire to have more than he needs. Although he
has a life filled with misfortune, Crusoe is able to persevere through the trails placed before him by
humbling himself and properly classifying his wants and needs. Greed will cause downfalls and trials
but humility will aid in recovering after the downfalls. In The Life and Adventures of Robinson
Crusoe, before the many misfortunes begin, Crusoe lived a good life in the upper station of low life.
His family was not rich, yet they were not poor, they prayed to have neither poverty nor riches (Defoe
2). Throughout his life, Crusoe s father had taught him:
the middle station of life was calculated for all kind of virtues and all kind of enjoyments; that peace
and plenty were the handmaids of a middle fortune; that temperance, moderation, quietness, health,

In the United States, about 30 percent of land area belongs to the federal government, and state
government owns about 10 percent of the national land area (U.S. DOI/BLM, 2014). These public
lands provide economic and environmental benefits for the surrounding communities by providing
natural resources for commodity production including timber, mining, and grazing, by offering natural
amenities and recreational opportunities that attract tourists and migrants, and by protecting wildlife
and their habitats, clean water, biodiversity, and general ecosystem function (Lewis et al., 2003; Cline

Beta measurement for the Nike Company, is a statistical measure that compares the volatility of a
stock against the volatility of the broader market, which is typically measured by a reference market
index. Since the market is the benchmark, the market s beta is always 1. When a stock has a beta

expected to rise less than the market when the market is moving up , but fall less than the market when

In my opinion, Human nature is something that everyone talks about but no one can define precisely.
Our thoughts, feelings, and behavior are produced not only by our individual experiences and
environment in our own lifetime but also by what happened to our ancestors years ago. Also, our
thoughts, feelings, and behavior are shared, to a large extent, by all men or women, despite seemingly
large cultural differences which causes hate, fights, and wars. In King Lear, he is treated very horrible

19. The History Of Bach And The Baroque Era
Transitioning from the Renaissance Era to Baroque Era introduced a new approach musical styles,
such as concerto and sonata. Coming from the Portuguese term barroco, or oddly shaped pearl , the
Baroque Era was heavily influenced with the Catholic Church from the early 1600s to the 1700s. The
Renaissance Era focuses on the exploration, discovery and rebirth; on the contrary, the Baroque Era
focuses on the Catholic Church and its exaggerated expressions. The Baroque Era came out with
European Western compositions that most of us are familiar with today, such as Pachelbel s Canon and
Vivaldi s Four Season. Along with the eras well known compositions, the Baroque Era also included
well known composers like Vivaldi and Handel. However, J.S. Bach is perhaps the greatest composer
of all times during the Baroque Era with famous pieces such as Toccata and Fugue in D Minor, Mass
in B Minor and Brandenburg Concerto. J.S. Bach, short for Johann Sebastian Bach, is a prominent
composer during the Baroque Era. Bach was born in Eisenach, Thuringia, Germany on March 31,
1685. He is the youngest son of his parents, Johann Ambrosius Bach and Elizabeth Lammerhirt Bach.
Because he came from seven generations of musicians, it was not unusual that Bach became a

Reddit maintains a stronger pathos than ethos or logos because its content is controlled by its users

the basis that good reference material never actually really conveyed what was new and interesting of

keeps content both fresh and engaging.
The system that Reddit utilizes to keep content timely also leads to some confusion for new visitors

21. The Great Hall Of The People
The Great Hall of the People was executed after the chaos of the wars as well as the initial success of
the industrialization, and it was a crowning work in the Tian anmen Square. It is as if in the historical
context of the German Expressionist architecture as the total work of art with an intention to generate
civil unity through erections of interactive, multi functional structures (also, the Alpine architecture).
For the Chinese Communist leaders and the population, the Great Hall symbolizes the socialist visions
of grandeur, surplus, equality, all inclusiveness, and collectivism. Even though the Chinese society
was far behind the western superpowers, the gesture of catching up and surpassing them through
socialist construction is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A comprehensive vision of combing arts from multiple sources to create an architectural totality goes
hand in hand with the socialist utopia, and this vision is kept unchanged in today s China: the Great
Hall of the People continues to carry the same functions as those in the 60s and 70s, stunning the
viewers from abroad, in Beijing, and through televisions. The political structure of China remains
unchanged, but the chief governing program shifted from class struggle (jieji douzheng 阶级斗争) to
economic construction (jingji jianshe 经济建设). The economic boom enhances materialism and
individualism, and endangers the spiritual realm of China. Then, someone vows to rescue the spiritual
and aesthetic declines by sponsoring a museum in Southern China.

22. The Hr Scorecard
The HR Scorecard: Linking People, Strategy, and Performance by Dave Ulrich
This Book Is Rapidly Becoming An Industry Best Practice Framework
Providing the tools and systems required for leading a measurement managed HR architecture, this
important book heralds the emergence of human resources as a strategic powerhouse in todays
organizations. Three experts in the field outline a powerful measurement system that highlights the
indisputable role HR can play as both a prime source of sustainable competitive advantage and a key
driver of value creation. They draw from an ongoing study of nearly 3,000 firms to outline a seven
step process they call an HR Scorecard, specifically designed to embed human resources systems

This presents an interesting dilemma: The asset which is most important is the least understood, least
prone to measurement, and, hence least susceptible to management. He goes on to commend the co
authors of The HR Scorecard for three specific contributions: their development of causal models
which illustrate the relationship of HR value drivers with business outcomes and thereby take the
Balanced Scorecard to the next level of sophistication; their research on the drivers of
highperformance organizations to provide a framework to decision makers with which to formulate
and implement strategies for human capital growth; and finally, their insights into the competencies
required by HR professionals, competencies which can enabler an organization to deliver on the
promise of its measurement system. In essence, the co authors of The HR Scorecard identify and
explain linkages indeed the interdependence between and among people, strategy, and performance.
Only by understanding these linkages and their independence can decision makers in any organization
(regardless of size or nature) accurately measure the nature, value, and impact of human capital on the
bottom line. Moreover, decision makers can then make much more accurate measurement of each

As we ve moved further into the twenty first century, our world and society has been immersed into
the digital world. With this digitization of our culture we have created a new resource, data. Data has
become king in the Age of Intelligence, it fuels most of what technology companies use to make
money. Companies like Google, Facebook, Amazon, ect. have leveraged their vast amounts of data
generated by the millions of internet users to better advertise and attract more users. Surprisingly most
of this data collection is created and aggregated unbeknownst to the users. This is where the problems
start to show themselves. When users are generating 2.5 quintillion bytes of data each day, as

There are some laws that address pieces of data protection such as the Children s Online Privacy
Protection Act (COPPA) which imposes certain restrictions to websites targeted at children limiting
what they can and can t keep. Or the Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA) which
tries to maintain data security standards throughout the government in the most efficient way possible.
However, most of the regulatory power for data protection comes from consumer protection laws that
have been stretched to apply to the internet. There is no strong federal laws that define our data
privacy rights. The one place where we have seen the clearest instructions for data protection is in the
Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) which laid out specific standard to
maintain the privacy of medical records. Currently there have been several bills floating through
congress to address some of these issues, but alas none of them have been put into law. Currently most
of the work on data protection has happened at the state level. California has lead the way with its data
protection laws. The California Online Privacy Protection Act ensured Californians were able to easily
find and see the data policies of companies. California also notably passed one of the first security
breach notification laws which required by law for companies to report to their users if their
information was accessed improperly. Laws like these are a right step in the right direction to protect
and inform citizen on what happens with their data but are more or less bandages for the problem.
Without strong federal regulations it is hard to enforce and standardize these protections across the

24. Advantages And Disadvantages Of Die Casting
1. Hot tear is an irreversible failure or crack formed in casting. It is commonly related to the
inadequate compensation of solidification shrinkage by melt flow with the occurrence of thermal
stresses. Controlling the right pouring temperature, prevention of rapid changes in section and
consistency in cooling rates can be done as remedies to this phenomenon.
2. Die Casting is a manufacturing process that can create geometrically complex metal parts by using
conveniently reusable molds that are commercially referred to as dies.

a. Shrinkage defects happens when thick metal hardens because of the unavailability of standard feed
material.
b. Gas porosity bubble formation present on the cast after cooling process.
c. Mold shift commonly happens at the final line when parts of the cast are misassembled.
d. Rough surface finish phenomena wherein too much fluidity of the metal is occurs and hard pouring

Usage of proper mold of sad, perfect placement of feeders and uniform pattern alignment are ways on
how these abovementioned defects can be prevented.

25. Biomass As A Renewable Energy Resource
3 Biomass as a renewable energy resource
Biomass can be considered as a renewable energy resource, although burning biomass releases carbon
dioxide (CO2) to the atmosphere similar to burning fossil fuel (Liu H. 2011). There is a significant
difference in CO2 release between burning a fossil fuel and burning biomass. Burning a fossil fuel
releases CO2 that has been locked up for millions of years in the ground, affecting the natural CO2
cycle and resulting in an increase in the CO2 concentration in the atmosphere. Burning biomass
simply return to the atmosphere the same amount of CO2 which was absorbed from the air via the
photosynthesis process while the biomass plant was growing over a relatively short period of time (a
few years to decade), and there is no net release of C02 into the atmosphere, i.e., CO2 neutral, if the
cycle of growth and harvest is sustained. Therefore, biomass can consider as a renewable energy
resource as shown in Figure 3.1 (Li u H. 2011). If the production and transportation of the biomass
fuel involve the use of fossil fuel, there would become net release of CO2 with biomass combustion
(Liu H. 2011) Figure 3.1 Biomass is a renewable energy resource (Liu H. 20 11)
In fact, real biomass energy production systems are differing from the ideal carbon cycle shown in
Figure 3.1 in two important ways. Firstly, the production of biomass energy always consumes fossil
energy for the farming, transportation and production stages of the process (Hill et al.

27. War Is A Human Endeavor
War is a human endeavor. Humanity continually pursues solutions to counter evolving threats with the
end of preserving power while also enabling peace. Civilizations resort to war to maintain their
perception of this equilibrium. Defined threats and adversaries have changed throughout history,
however, the essence of human nature and the base concept of conflict itself have not. Carl von
Clausewitz s theories on warfare capture the relationship between humanity and its application of war,
remaining relevant in today s era through their pensive explanations of timeless philosophical
principles regarding the concept of war. These theories regarding war in politics, the key factors
affecting war, and the extent that war is applied are inherently interconnected, providing insight on the
relationships between humanity and its application of war.
One of Clausewitz s most prevalent theories is that war is an instrument of politics, or as stated in his
work On War, When whole communities go to war...the reason lies in some political situation, and the
occasion is always due to some political object. War, therefore, is an act of politics. War in itself as
defined by Oxford dictionary is a state of armed conflict between different nations or states or
different groups within a nation or state. Furthermore, politics is defined by Oxford as the activities
associated with the governance of a country or area, especially the debate between parties having
power. The 1648 Treaty

Introduction
It has been witnessed that Olympic games has brought a great deal of economic, social, cultural,
environmental and political changes to the host country. From the perspective of economics, Olympic
games can overall positively contribute the host country in its economic growth, urban expandation,
employment opportunities, households welfare improvement, etc. For example, Korea and Japan have
comparatively experienced dramatic GDP growth after Olympics in Seoul in 1988 and Tokyo in 1964
with rates of 16.8% and 15.8%, respectively. In addition, developed countries like Spain that host
Olympic games in Barcelona in 1992 gained much domestic consumption with 11.1% growth rate,
even thought the average employment growth in Spain kept flat, which is mostly due to the economic
recession in Europe at that time that has significantly offset the economic benefits from Barcelona
having Olympic games (Vegara, 1992). In theory, the net changes (positive changes minus negative
changes) from new economics activities in related to an event is defined as Economic Impact (Foster,
Greyser Walsh, 2006). In 2001, China was renowned for holding 2008 Olympic games in Beijing.
This event has economically brought a considerable of positive impacts in vary aspects such as
domestic demand improvement, employment rise, and so forth. However, 2008 Olympic games in
Beijing also contains negative economic impact, such as the expenses on bidding for hosting Olympic

In this paper I will discuss and explain anatomy of a crime decline in New York City as well as if in
these days can we say that the city is safe. Purpose of this book The City That Become Safe written by
Franklin E. Zimring is to show us how crime rate changed during 1990 to 2009. According to author
this book presents a detailed profile of New York City crime over 20 years period. Book provides the
vital statistics of the crime drop by type of crime, by borough, and by year. There are two reasons that
such exhaustive detail is required as a beginning to the study. First, the size and the length of the drop
are without precedent in the recorded history of American urban crime. The second reason that the
details of the crime decline are needed is as a road map for explaining what changes in the city and its
government might have caused this epic decline. The more we know about the specific character of
the decline when it happened, where it happened, which offenses the better our capacity for sorting
through different theories of what caused the drop. In addition, shifts the focus from the two decades
of the decline to an assessment of current conditions in the city. How safe is New York City?.
The mission of this book is to provide a statistical profile of the notable crime decline that started in
New York City in the early 1990s and has further well past the of a new century. The first portion of
analysis will focus on three important features of the official

34. The Workings Behind Government Bond Selling Mechanism
Abstract
Acknowledgements
Research Description
Government securities are often sold through a mechanism similar to an auction. There currently
exists a significant amount of literature about estimating such models, for example, using data from
the United States, Turkey, or France. This project aims at studying the workings behind government
bond selling mechanisms. The project will look at studies that try to empirically characterize the
strategic behaviour of participants in government bond auctions in order to construct a counter factual
estimate of auction outcomes under either a discriminatory or uniform price format. Using structural
econometric methods, it is possible to construct estimates of the bid functions of auction participants,
i.e. ranges of quantity and price combinations for the different bidders, and to then form an estimate of
auction revenues if a country were to switch from, for example, a discriminatory to a uniform price
mechanism.
This research project will aim at reviewing these studies and their underlying theoretical framework
and provide a discussion about how to empirically characterize the New Zealand government bonds
selling mechanism, in particular how to empirically characterize the strategic behaviour of financial
institutions buying New Zealand government bonds.
Introduction
According to Klemperer (1999), the study of auction theory is very important for theoretical, practical,
and empirical reasons. Firstly, a large proportion of
