Canadian Nuclear Weapons Program And The Current Policy...
Canada currently does not, nor have they ever indicated at creating a nuclear weapons program, this is
due to their status as a non nuclear weapon state by the Treaty on the Non Proliferation of Nuclear
Weapons, as well as the reliance on the United States for nuclear defense. The following paper will
detail Canadian nuclear energy and weapons policy, beginning with a description of their nuclear
program. The next section will discuss the reasons for Canada s avoidance of a nuclear weapons
program and the current policy behind the nuclear program. Following will be a discussion of Canada
s nuclear weapons program and the policy on nuclear weapons. The paper will conclude with
Canadian concerns over the current nuclear program of Iran. January 1st 1946, the United Nations
created the Atomic Energy Commission, whose sole purpose was to prepare proposals for the
promotion of peaceful nuclear energy. On September 26th, General Andrew G.L. McNaughton, who
was a commander of the Canadian Forces in England during WWII as well as the President of the
National Research Council was appointed as the inaugural President of the Atomic Energy Control
Board. On October 12th 1946, the Canadian government proclaimed the Atomic Energy Control Act
which established the Atomic Energy Control Board as the regulator agency to provide for control and
supervision of the development, application and use of atomic energy and to enable Canada to

Stereotypes In The Middle Colonies
People from many nations, religions, and cultural backgrounds settled in the middle colonies in
several ways. One way people could settle is by taking land; they found land and made a claim on it or
stole property from other settlements. Men or women could also have established their own colony
where they were the leader. Religious organizations who rebelled against the government, such as the
Quakers, were forced to leave the colony and therefore developed new communities. These were the
significant ways many different ethnicities fixed themselves in the middle colonies. One instance
where people found land was when the Dutch founded New Netherlands or as it is known today, New
York. New York was discovered in 1613 as a fur

Fitter Happier Summary
Fitter, Happier, More Productive are the first words that spoken through a computerized voice on
Radiohead s most acclaimed album OK Computer on the track Fitter Happier . Most people live with
a view that happiness is an important part of their life and worth striving for, but societal views often
cloud this perspective, forcing people to live their life in ways that may not produce happiness. The
words in Fitter Happier describe this clouded view and explain that we as humans can sometimes be
just seen as a machine to produce productivity. The American Dream and attaining wealth to produce
happiness has been an extremely significant mythos in American History ever since the inception and
freedom of America. America was known for freedom, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This demonstrates that for most Americans, societal pressures have become more important to them
than their own happiness. This directly relates to David Foster Wallace s commencement speech as
while he demonstrated how while he had a prosperous job, the monotony and emptiness he felt in his
life pushed him over the edge. Pressure to only see jobs such as doctors, businessman, and engineer s
as successful hampers the happiness for numerous people because people often choose their industry
based on what their peers or family members would consider to be a path to success. People often care
more about the way they look to others than the way that they feel about themselves, and choosing an
industry to attain more wealth is just an example of that. I struggle with this problem too, as my
parents both want me to be an Accountant, but I find that I struggle with Accounting and it isn t and
industry I enjoy. I would much rather explore other industries, and see what I enjoy before setting
myself on a ridged path, but because of family expectations and societal standards, I am still an
accounting major even though I would not be happy with a job in Accounting. This is a bit
hypocritical because in this way I am conforming to normative values, but this shows the struggle that
many people have today between balancing

A Brief Note On Provocation And Its Effects On The Reform...
Provocation is an arising contemporary issue, the effectiveness of both legal and non legal responses
have significantly impacted on the reform of the laws relating to it. Provocation is a partial defence act
that can be used by someone who has killed another person if they claimed to be induced with anger
or provoked to do it. It can be used to lessen the severity of a charge as the person can say they were
provoked into killing someone, pleading guilty of a charge of voluntary manslaughter rather than one
of murder which has a longer sentence. Current issues that have risen from this defence are the misuse
or rather unfair exploitation of it that has allowed some to get away with murder. Due to this, reform
of the law is needed as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To avoid execution the law was made to be more flexible introducing manslaughter which could be
used as a lesser charge to murder.
Legal responses
1. (s 23(a) Crimes Act 1900 (NSW)
A legal response concerning provocation can be shown through in the Crimes Act 1900 (NSW) s 23(a)
legislation. This legislation states that provocation can be used under the circumstance that the
deceased induced their own death, this includes words or gestures. The person that killed the other had
to have lost control and killed suddenly without intent. This was what the legislation stated prior to the
amendment, it states the following: Crimes Act 1900 (NSW) s 23 (a)
(1) The accused had to be provoked into committing the crime; the jury will have to charge them with
manslaughter rather than murder.
(2) The act causing death under provocation where:
(a) The act caused loss of self control, including gestures or words from the deceased.
(b) The acts of the deceased would have to provoke an ordinary person making them lose control so to
the point of the intention to kill or cause harm.
(3) There is no laws in which provocation is accepted if:
(a) There is not a reasonable reason
(b) The act was planned and not sudden
(c) They had the intent to kill
(4) The prosecution will have to prove that it was not provocation, beyond reasonable doubt.
The provocation defence can be seen through the r v Hill (1981) case. In this case Georgina

Cla Research Paper
Mechanism of the Health promoting Effects of the Food Ingredient
Evidence suggests that the biological effectiveness of CLA are due to the separate actions of cis 9,
trans 11 and trans 10, cis 12 isomers. It is likely that numerous health effects are enhanced by
synergistic actions of these isomers. Findings such as, inhibition of chemically induced
carcinogenesis, enhanced immune system, reduction of atherosclerosis, enhanced growth, fat
reduction are attributed to a mixture of these CLA isomers (Pariza, Park, Cook, 2001).
Weight reduction
Researchers have theorized about the many mechanisms CLA have an effect on. Some proposed
mechanisms such as reduction of proliferation and differentiation of preadipocytes, decreased

Insulin resistance can also be caused by increased triglycerides and free fatty acids intake. This is due
to the effect Triglycerides and free fatty acids have on insulin stimulated signal pathways,
translocation protein 4 and glucose uptake (Choi, Jung, Park, Song, 2004). It is found that CLA has a
regulatory effect on glucose and lipid metabolism regulators. CLA affects the PPAR y ligand, a major
receptor that influences the expression and transcription of genes that are related to the metabolic
effects of glucose and lipids. Such protein regulators as aP2, insulin dependent glucose transporter 4,
FATp, ACS and adiponectin are all influenced by increased CLA. (Xiao Rong Zhoua, Chang Hao
Suna, Jia Ren Liua, b, Dan Zhaoa, 2008). It was also theorized that CLA may act on other glucose
regulators such as phosphoenolpyruvate carboxylase, glucose 6 phosphate, glucokinase, sterol
regulation element finding protein, acyl coenzyme A oxidase, fatty acid synthase and uncoupling
protein. Testing done on rats with a mixture of cis 9, trans 11 and trans 10, cis 12 CLA had found that
the only effected regulatory agents were regulators involved in gluconeogenesis such as Phosphoenol
carboxykinase and transcriptional factors, sterol regulating element binding protein 1c and PPAR y
(Choi, Jung, Park, Song, 2004). The main regulatory effect on insulin resistance was the effect on
ligand PPAR y, a key regulator in lipid homeostasis. Mixtures of CLA isomers consisting of cis 9,
trans 11 and trans 10,cis 12 effect gene expression of PPARy mRNA in rats. It was found to have
affected the levels of aP2, FATP, ACS and adipoenectin mRNA expression in adipose tissue. CLA
increased These regulatory proteins resulting in an uptake of free fatty acids into the adipose tissue
and decreasing uptake into the muscle tissue. This has been found to improve muscle insulin

The Probability Of Wining In The Tic-Tac-Toe Game
The Goal
My goal is to find the probability of wining in tic tac toe game given that you make the first move. To
obtain hypothesis bases on my goal I have to state some conditions and facts on the game. They are:
1) There are 362, 880 ways of placing O s and X s. 2) When X make first move, possibility of X
winning is 131,184, O winning is 77, 904, and 46, 080 tied games (Source:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tic tac toe). After eliminating rotations and/or reflections of other
outcomes, there are only 138 unique outcomes. X won 91 times, O won 44 times and 3 ties (Source:

After that I performed ESX supervised learning with all data as training data as shown below: Then I
performed another mining session with only first 658 instances as training data and other 300 as
testing data in order to evaluate the model. The parameter window is shown below. Apart from
supervised learning, several other mining techniques are used to evaluate the data. They are:
Mangrove, a freeware which generates decision tree and classification tree using excel file. All of
them will be described more in detail under the evaluating the results division.
Interpretation of the results (from Data Mining)
When talking about interpreting the results, first we have to check whether the formed classes are
solid one. To do this we have to check whether the class resemblance score which should be higher
than the domain resemblance score. In this case both Positive and Negative class has score higher than
the domain resemblance score. They are only slightly higher because of the nature of the values of the
attribute. The scores are shown below. When we look at the domain statistics for the categorical
attributes we can see the predictability score for all the attribute value X is more than the predictability
score of other two possible values of O (other player move) and b (blank). The scores are shown
below. When we examine the class individually I found that the attribute value highly sufficient for
being class membership is M M = X, and the attribute

Testimonial Speech
Testimonial Speech I am delighted to be a part of this gala evening, and especially pleased to have the
opportunity to share some of my thoughts and observations about this evening s honoree and my good
friend, Cliff Kendall. Leader of the year certainly the term fits Cliff like a glove. But look around the
room. This place is filled with leaders. This is a power lunch, moved to the evening and dressed up in
black ties and cocktail dresses. So how, do you suppose, did the Board of Trade choose one from the
many deserving of honor for this singular recognition? Why Cliff above all others? I d like to think

And just a couple weeks ago, the Washington Post listed CDSI as one of the 50 largest public
companies in the greater Washington area, describing it as the grand daddy of information technology
services in the area. The baby, it seems, has grown up. Cliff continues to chart CDSI s future today, in
his role as chairman of the board, and he continues to regard the people of CDSI as part of his
extended family. More important than what Cliff has done at CDSI, though, is how he s done it. Few
stereotypes are more pervasive today or certainly in Cliff s case more unfair than that of the corporate
business leader as crass, heartless, adept at taking but incapable of giving. Cliff, in the life he has led
and in the model he has established as head of a hugely successful company, gives lie to that
stereotype. His approach to corporate leadership is founded on his innate humanity, his basic decency,
his involvement with others on a human level. Cliff is living testimony to the thesis that one can do
good while doing well. As one of Cliff s close associates puts it, For a guy who s done as much as he
has in business, it s refreshing to find that he always has time for others. He s a very special
combination of businessman and people man. He gives of himself to everybody. Cliff has given of
himself not only to the enterprise and the people of CDSI, but in full measure as well to

Making Sense Of Creativity And Conceptual Performance
Making sense of Creativity and Conceptual Performance
In this first summary paper I will focus on the article called Looking Inside the Fishbowl of Creativity:
Verbal and Behavioral Predictors of Creative Performance, written by John Ruscio, Dean M. Whitney,
and Teresa M. Amabile.
I will break this summary paper to three headings focused first on the preliminary of the research
based upon educated guesses by the researching authors, second the research conducted to answer the
questions pertaining to creativity and performance, then lastly with heading three, the outcomes of the
experiment.
What can we say before the test?
With any research, there has to be a hypothesis of the outcomes expected. Ruscio, Whitney, and
Amabile questioned ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Additionally, personalities with stronger constitutions tend to adapt with more ease to take in account
more possibilities. Thus, expanding their problem solving repertoire to more substantial outcomes.
Testing the question 1
The researchers, wanting to answer the question: Is there any correlation of motivation and creativity
so they came up with some tests to prove if their hypothesis was right. They first came up with a pre
test that asked over 151 college students who were volunteers, below the graduate level questions
related to how they formulate ideas pertaining to solving answers to their everyday lives, along with a
short consult. This is a troublesome task in itself because the person, or persons being tested on their
life questions could feel too embarrassed to answer the questions honestly, and falsify their answer
making it harder to formulate their research. Also, by have an inner dialog a certain type of question
can have an effect of the outcome because one has to take in account of what has been going on during
the assessment combining it all together whether the task was hard, easy, or the participant was just
not really interested. Another way that a test questioner can fail to gather the best information is if the
questions are not set up in categories to more formulate the hypothesis. Asking questions in related
areas can easily formulate the answers more quickly, easily, and can be more succinct. A way to limit
this anomaly is to ask the

Broken windows, car alarms, smoke in the air, the frantic screams of those who are attacked by the
raids of police officers are what come with the world of violent protest. Violent protest to a variety of
people may lead to a conclusion, but not for all of them. With nonviolent protest our words are used as
our weapons. We speak with the freedom of the first amendment, the right to civil disobedience and
the satisfaction that we solved our issues in a justifiable manner. All around the globe we crave the
immediate satisfaction of emotional rebellion regardless of the impact, which is why nonviolent
protest is more effective than violent protest.

However, private label brands are not very popular in China or Asia retail stores. The reasons of self
owned product failure can be summarized as follows.
a) The self owned products are produced by other processing enterprises and the quality is also
controlled by enterprises. When the process cost raises, the quality of self owned product cannot be
ensured.
b) With the price increase of raw material, Dia s self owned products have no price advantage over
other products.
c) Dia position self owned products at low level [NL news]. They have very strict cost control toward
its product. They won t spend money on the package design and just imitate others. The products they

Marketing and New Product Line
TRUEARTH HEALTHY FOODS
1. Executive Summary
This document explains why TruEarth, maker of gourmet pastas, sauces and meals, takes to launch or
not to launch decision of a new product line of fresh whole grain pizza by using some forecasts and
financial analysis. According to the analysis, launching the new product line is a profitable business
and it exceeds the minimum business requirements which is $18,5M retail market ($12M wholesale)
but according to the market researches, customers think that the product is too expensive and it should
be lower. So, after revising its price and sales forecasts, TruEarth should reevaluate the case.

Some of the data are already in the case and some of the assumptions related with Pasta research are
also valid for pizza case, because BASES drew on prior experience with products of similar price,
nutrition and target consumer characteristics while determining these values.
Without knowing actual product quality, three scenarios are created, one each for mediocre, average,
and excellent product.
Volume of basic kit and complementary toppings are projected separately. Eckstein estimated that
wholesale volumes needed to exceed $12M to meet the company s return requirements. This means
minimum business requirement is $18,5M.
According to the calculations based on these assumptions and data, even if the product quality is
below the expectations, minimum business requirements can be achieved. So, financially it is a
profitable product and TruEarth should launch it. 6. Market Research Analysis
According to the market researches(Exhibit 3 and Exhibit 7); demand on pasta is greater than the
pizza but target households for pizza is above the target of pasta market.
When we compare the test results (Exhibit 8) with the findings for pasta (Exhibit 4), the main
difference is about the price of the product, many of the testers think that new pizza concept is too

the point of the government if they are not helping their citizens. what s the point of having a
government many might asked. The point of a government is government seeks to protect its citizens,
it faces the challenge of doing so in ways that are true to the key American political values of liberty,

they seem like they only care what s best for the government than for the nation. Also, many believe
that the government is just playing games with the nation s future and that s no fair for the people.
The public trust in government has declined over the years, and now the people think they can do little
to influence the government actions. According to the book We the people by Benjamin Ginsberg, in

Sociology Of Health And Illness
SOCIOLOGY OF HEALTH AND ILLNESS
This study is based on a newspaper article about obesity and how the National Health Service (NHS)
will offer free cookery classes in war on the obesity crisis to overweight and obese families as well as
doctors and nurses (Donnelly, 2015). The World Health Organisation (2015) has classed obesity as a
worldwide epidemic that has seen numbers double since the 1980 s. The WHO (2015) define obesity
as an individual having a Body Mass Index equal or higher than 30 and has been linked to non
communicable diseases such as cardiovascular diseases, muscoskeletal and some cancers.

The report identifies that obesity is now a health pandemic in the United Kingdom and the National
Health Service is taking steps to tackle obesity not only with the nation at large but also among the
healthcare workers who have to help the government tackle obesity in the community seeing as they
are the front line staff who would be responsible for educating the public on losing weight. Mooney et
al (2015) further states that the functionalist perspective also focuses on how society is interconnected
and how each part of society influences and in turn is influenced by the other parts. The doctors and
nurses influence the patients they come in contact with and the rationale for the scheme in regards to
the staff is that they should practice what they preach before they challenge the public s unhealthy
lifestyles.
According to McIntosh (1996) functionalist view social problems in a diverse number of ways and
argue that inequalities are normal and necessary for social systems and for the functioning of social
systems there has to be a division of labour therefore there will be individuals from varying
educational backgrounds as well as skill backgrounds. In the report the problem identified was obesity

Introduction
Here is a small tutorial that suffices you with the basic concepts required to put up eyes on your robot.
Trust me, if you are into robotics, you are going to enjoy the next few pages. After all, making a robot
that can see would really be cool! So let s get started!
A vision based robot has an image acquisition device like a webcam as its eyes. Then we need a
processor that can make sense out of those captured images and actuators like dc motors for
navigation. One key point to note is that Image Processing has huge computational requirements, and
it is not possible to run an image processing code directly on a small microcontroller. Hence, for our

Many countries consider it to be a weed as it is so invasive. Consumption of large doses by livestock

2.2 Explain How To Manage A Site Drainage
2.1 How to manage the site drainage and its importance.
Site drainage management is aim to safeguard the house inhabitants and protect the house from
several damage cause by surface water and both internal and external inappropriate moisture (Master
builders, 2009).
Site drainage management is a very important part of the design of footing system. It is because the
site drainage could influence the success of the footing system, the maintenance of the site drainage
influencing the economic life of the building and the site drainage plan is required to be documented

There are several soil results might happen after the tree removal in this case, from limited influence
to significant damage. As this case just mentioned the site soil classification of this reclaimed land is
H1 but not mention the soil type. If it s sandy area, removal trees might cause less damage to the soil
because sand does not swell or shrink with changes in moisture (Victorian building authority, 2015).
However, if these trees are used to take more moisture from the underground water system in clay soil
land, the tree removal land will become more wet or dry due to the different surrounding agricultural
situation. For example, if there are heavy rainy after the tree removal and there are no other trees or
shrubs around the site, too much accumulated water will stay on the hole and change the clay soils to
be more reactive. On the other hand, if there are other big trees and shrubs around the site, the extra
moisture will be absorbed by these trees and the site soil is going to be dry. Thus, the classification of
the soil will be changed and it lead to change the footing construction system as well. All in all, tree
conditions should be considered before the removal and a more careful site filling and cleaning jobs

Essay on An Experience in My Lfe
An Experience in My Life December 31, 2004, while everyone else was celebrating New Year s, my
family and I were moving from one city to another. It was hard for me to move another city because I
was leaving behind the town where I was born and all my friends. This was one of the biggest impacts
that I have experience in my life. Moving from one town to another was like moving to another world
where I did not know anyone. But the hardest part of moving for me was moving to another school

M Night Symbolism
In M. Night Shyamalan s movie The Sixth Sense symbolism and foreshadowing is used throughout.
The use of the color red is the most obvious form of symbolism. The color red is used to show
important moments, presence of spirits, paranormal events, etc. in the movie.
Red is used to highlight the most important moments in the movie or just items of interest that the
viewer should take note of. From the first scene of the movie you can start to notice the red
symbolism. Malcolm and his wife are discussing his awards and it s shown to be invaded inside of a
red frame. Another example of symbolism is towards the beginning of the movie when Cole is at the
birthday party and he follows the red balloon upstairs where he has an encounter with a paranormal ...

This part of the film was somewhat confusing to me. I thought maybe he didn t like talking to anyone
besides his patients. I thought Cole was his patient so he only talked to him. After seeing the scene
where Malcolm and Cole s mother were sitting together waiting for Cole to come home I thought that
maybe he was having a conversation with her but towards the end of the movie it was clarified that
Malcolm was never talking to her or interacting with her. I noticed that Cole refused to interact with
Malcolm in that scene but would ve never done so if they were alone. Another part of the movie that
was somewhat confusing to me was if those kids from school were hitting Cole or if it was his mother.
I initially thought that it was the kids but after seeing how Cole s mother was so impatient with him I
thought it maybe could ve been her. Again, the ending of the movie where Cole finally revealed his
secret to his mother clarified the whole thing. He explained to her that the ghosts would do that to him.
I believe some parts of the movie were meant to confuse the viewer to have them thinking something
completely opposite of the truth. The people who were behind the movie really paid attention to the
detailing and really ended up explaining everything at the end of the

The Bad Sides Of Evil In Shakespeare s Hamlet As A Bad Man
Hamlet as a Bad Man The Hamlet is one of the greatest plays by Shakespeare, which provides an
account of an example of the Victorian royal feud. The main character of the play, Hamlet, whose
characters help in providing the directions for the play, depicts different demeanors depending on how
one views him. It is normative for a prince to orchestrate the revenge for the death of his father,
especially if the killer occupies the throne that one is an heir of. The play, therefore, may help in
depicting Hamlet as a bad person in different views in terms of the political crisis that his kingdom
was going through.
The Bad Sides of Hamlet The book The Hamlet by Shakespeare provides an account of a political
crisis that enveloped the kingdom of Denmark. King Claudius murdered his brother and married his
wife queen Gertrude because of malice. The king had a beautiful wife, was prosperous and ruled the
kingdom, all to the envy of his brother. Hamlet, the son of the slain king, was an orderly and well
behaved prince as the play begins. He is in love with Ophelia, and befriends many of the workers in
the palace, until his father s ghost appears to him and exposes to him the truth, requiring him to
avenge the death of his father; So art thou to revenge, when thou shalt hear... (Shakespeare). It is
evident that evil resided in the heart of Hamlet all these while, for from the time the ghost insinuated
at exposing to him who killed his father he retorted, Haste me to know, that I,

1.10.2. Reserved Words
Reserved words, or keywords, are words that have a specific meaning to the compiler and cannot be
used for other purposes in the program. For example, when the compiler sees the word class, it
understands that the word after class is the name for the class. Other reserved words in Listing 1.1 are
public, static, and void. Their use will be introduced later in the book.
Tip
Because Java is case sensitive, public is a reserved word, but Public is not. Nonetheless, for clarity and
readability, it would be best to avoid using reserved words in other forms.
1.10.3. Modifiers
Java uses certain reserved words called modifiers that specify the properties of the data, methods, and
classes and how they can be used. Examples of modifiers are public and static. Other modifiers are
private, final, abstract, and protected. A public datum, method, or class can be accessed by other
classes. A private datum or method cannot be accessed by other classes.
1.10.4. Statements
A statement represents an action or a sequence of actions. The statement System.out.println( Welcome

The Allegorical Nature of The Lottery, by Shirley Jackson
Hit it! Hit it! Hit it! Don t lose your aim, because if you lose it, you lose the way. A birthday party
without a piñata just doesn t seem to be a birthday party. There s a joy that tiptoes up and takes over
the whole party when the expectation of candy, the ability for young children to handle a bat and
destroy something, and parents can mess with the little children. The element of danger and malice all
in good fun is in the air and it makes a giddy happiness that is addictive to the point where they are
giggling and laughing before they know they are or the reason why they are. Handling a bat
blindfolded while laughing hysterically is a time that nobody should miss. In The Lottery, by Shirley
Jackson, things are done the way they have always been done, even if there is no reason why. Certain
people remember where the rituals created, and certain people seem to know why they are important.
Yet tradition is important, so they continue. The Lottery is an excellent example of an allegorical short
story. Jackson uses symbolism through the description of the characters, significant objects, and the
actions in the story.
Consider two important symbols in the story the box and the stool. The postmaster, Mr. Summers,
followed by Mr. Graves, carried the three legged stool and put it in the center of the square. He set the
black box down on it. The old box is black. Black is associated with power, elegance, formality, death,
evil, and mystery. Neither the box nor the stool

Impact Of Arch On Roman Architecture
The development of concrete and the arch was integral to the advancement of Roman architecture.
Both had a great impact on the people of Rome from all walks of life.
When designing a building, the load that must be supported is a very important consideration. Various
building materials will each have their own levels of strength and ability to support loads. In addition
to this, the way in which the building material is utilized may also play a role in the ability of the
building to support large loads. The implementation of concrete as a building material led to much
stronger walls and supports in Roman buildings. Additionally, the development of the arch was
revolutionary in its ability to support loads. The types and sizes of structures that the Romans could
build became unlike anything seen before, and they also became very interested in working with
interior spaces, as well (Ambler, n.d.). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The arch continues to feature prominently in...designs and with good reason: Its semicircular structure
elegantly distributes compression through its entire form and diverts weight onto its two abutments
(Lamb, 2000). The key to the structure is located in the center of the arch and is called a keystone.
Remove it and the entire structure collapses. The entire structure is dependent upon the architect not
designing an opening that is too wide. That would also lead to increased pressure and decreased
structural integrity (Lamb, 2000).
As you can imagine, the arch opened the door to a great many changes in structural design. The
Romans utilized it in their homes and in their public buildings. It found its way into bridge design, as
well. Yet, the arch alone does not explain the amazing advancements made in Roman architecture.
Concrete also play a huge part in shaping Roman construction. As such, it is also important to
understand exactly what concrete

North-South Vs Ldcs
The rivalry of the North South really is a comparison of developed countries versus undeveloped
countries. Countries and states in the Northern Hemisphere generally contain societies that are much
more advanced technologically, economically, socially, and politically than their Southern hemisphere

Northern societies have the advantages derived from coalescing indigenous groups into autocratic
societies over that past 500 years. This allowed them to dedicate a large amount of resources to meet
the needs of each society. As they used technology to improve their lifestyle, they were able to trade

leverage (Edmonds Tsay Olds). Suggested by Reiss, outsourcing is a way of turning fixed costs into
variable costs. Variable costs have a dependence of cost based on production or sale of the product
(Reiss, 2010).
One example of this fixed vs. variable costs transition would be telesales, instead of hiring 45 people
to work inbound and outbound phone calls one could pay a service to answer the phones at a cost per
minute. Using a phone service and experiencing high call volumes, the cost would a variable cost as a
reflection of sales. Having 45 salaried telesales employees and only ... Show more content on

3 What is meant by the statement, my company has good operating leverage? How does good
operating leverage magnify earnings results with modest revenue increase?
With a small change in revenues, one will see a larger change in profits with positive operating
leverage. Operating leverage is often referred to as the ratio of fixed costs compared to revenues
(Edmonds Tsay Olds).
A company with high operating leverage as an example could be a business with expensive machines.
In the medical lab environment, a fixed cost of buying a machine for medical testing one would
presume to be high. For the lab, it would be significant to have the lab testing machines running
twenty four hours a day seven days a week. A percentage change in revenues would negatively impact
a medical testing organization due to the machine cost stay constant (Berman,

Their Eyes Were Watching God Reflection Essay
Envision this: a room, overflowing with intense emotions and a mother, laboring a child for endless
hours. Finally, the newborn emerges into the world, taking its first, fresh breath of air; then, suddenly,
a screeching scream like no other proliferates throughout the room. The infant finds its voice for the
first time. But, the ability to speak ceases to begin with one s first resonance; rather, it commences
when we find our true selves influenced by inevitable circumstances and situations, where one s voice
truly shines forth. By exemplifying the harsh reality and stereotypical gender discrimination of the
early 1900 s in the enduring novel Their Eyes Were Watching God, Zora Neale Hurston captivates the
voice of an independent young woman who, as she matures, fiercely refuses to live a life pronounced
by despondency, fear, and silence. Janie Crawford, a resilient, yet vibrant woman, overcomes many
hardships while she evolves from a voiceless, adolescent girl into a woman, beating the drums of her
own destiny. Janie continues showing dauntless courage as she encounters countless changes and
endures numerable hardships throughout her life. Nevertheless, with many circumstantial influences
and life altering situations, she accomplishes liberating herself from the oppressive chains of
stereotypical gender discrimination, all while finding her voice and gaining self assurance. In the
opening and ending paragraphs, Hurston effectively uses defining diction, colorful imagery,

The Rule Of The Us Constitution
The words democracy and republicanism are words most commonly used, but often misunderstood.
The Father of the US Constitution, James Madison, has been an eye opener for many who are still
uncertain of what the words mean. When we think of the term democracy and republicanism, we
automatically make an assumption that reflects on politics, power, voting, elections and parliaments.
Madison, however; focused more on liberty, freedom, and what is right for the people.
Simultaneously, he felt as if the people should choose who represents them and will make decisions on
the issues based on what the people saw fit for their needs. In contrary to what Madison believe, he
recognized that tyranny for majorities is a major threat to freedom. Therefore, a republicanism can be
interpreted as a country owned by its people rather than by a monarch. Democracy, however; is the
rule of the people, according to Madison. It is understood that representatives in a democracy is
supposed to be balanced rather than unsteady. It is accurate that we do not govern by pure majority
rule, because people within the government system simply do not understand the issues. In some form
or another, there will be protection for minorities within their rules and laws and even with the
substantial powers afforded to majorities in Parliament. In Madison s paper, Federalist #10, he states
that The two great points of difference between a democracy and a republic are: first, the delegation of
the government, in

Lsd Synthesis
There are many hallucinogens including plants and fungus, however, there are many synthesized
hallucinogens as well. This paper will be focusing on the synthesized hallucinogen called Lysergic
acid diethylamide (LSD). This drug is not coming from a natural plant because it was first synthesized
in 1938, is an extremely potent hallucinogen. It is manufactured from lysergic acid, which is found in
ergot, a fungus that grows on rye and other grains (Anderson, 2014). Compare to other drugs, LSD is
not as addictive, but this drug has negative psychological side effects as well. The history of LSD
starts with a chemist named Albert Hofmann, 1938; while working with Sandoz Pharmaceutical

Abstract:
This paper is about electronic document management and standards for records management. The

The author had mentioned about the EDM, FTR and the WWW at the first discussion. This had shown
that many EDM vendors had to promote the off the peg systems. Its means here this system relied on
the use of automated indexing for the retrieval purpose. Then, FTR is limited by its reliance on natural
language. This is because every different records creator will use different terms in order to show the
same or closely meaning. Meanwhile, for the WWW it has great demands and also can facilitate the
searching. This can be seen through the hits that was produces after conducting a searching.
(b) Directories As File Plans
There is a strong argument about the transmitting physical directories of files and filing system into
the electronic channel. Since the emergence of technology, the names of files and directories cannot be
secure. Besides that, this directory structure must be attached within the metadata. The embedded
directory structures have a potential to become an effective damage control mechanism, as a tool for
making searching process becomes more precise. The author had argues that there are also strong
historical precedents in order to advocate electronic records management

Central Park In The 19th Century
Our day was coming to an end but we had made just one last stop to Central Park. Around the 19th
century the city had doubled in size and it was developing into the city we know today. Immigrants
were forced to move into tenement buildings and the city began to see an influx of people in the
streets. The city realized it was time for the city to change and so they bought 700 acres from 58th to
106th Street in order to create a new park. We began our stroll around the park and visited the
Conservatory Garden. The garden is known to be the only formal garden in the park. The garden is
also divided up into three distinct formal gardens: English, French, and Italian style. We had a chance
to visit the English style garden. The garden was absolutely

giving a satirical indication to its quality, further distinguishing it from its other competitors. The
campaign was creative, risk taking and appealing to its target audience male light beer drinkers who
had felt less masculine and dull for drinking light beer. The ads empowered them to drink light beer
with a masculine confidence and a sense of cultural belonging having the brand be associated with
Australian stereotypes.
Heineken
Another brand of beer that has successfully penetrated the market is Heineken. Heineken is available
in almost every country on the planet and is the world s most valuable international premium beer
brand. They currently stand as a premium and full strength beer on the perceptual map above which
suggests that social status and the occasion for beer determines the choice of Heineken. Perceptual
maps can be incorporated in developing or altering marketing strategies by plotting the points gained
by surveys onto this map which allows the vast majority of consumer s views seen in comparison to
competitors, also sighting possible market segments as opportunities its direct competitors are Asahi

Humor In Ernest Thayer s Casey At The Bat
In Casey at the Bat, Ernest Thayer uses humor in veriest ways. He uses humor to describe how the
audience reacts to certain experiences at the baseball game. One of the techniques he uses is figurative
language. An example of humor is when he uses personification in writing, Five thousand tongues

tongue clapping, this image is amusing. Another way Ernest uses humor is by when he wrote about the
umpire calling a strike and the crowd stated yelling kill him.The audience was getting worked up
because they think Casey is the best player, and he doesn t deserve a strike. Also, another example is

  • 4. Stereotypes In The Middle Colonies People from many nations, religions, and cultural backgrounds settled in the middle colonies in several ways. One way people could settle is by taking land; they found land and made a claim on it or stole property from other settlements. Men or women could also have established their own colony where they were the leader. Religious organizations who rebelled against the government, such as the Quakers, were forced to leave the colony and therefore developed new communities. These were the significant ways many different ethnicities fixed themselves in the middle colonies. One instance where people found land was when the Dutch founded New Netherlands or as it is known today, New York. New York was discovered in 1613 as a fur ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Fitter Happier Summary Fitter, Happier, More Productive are the first words that spoken through a computerized voice on Radiohead s most acclaimed album OK Computer on the track Fitter Happier . Most people live with a view that happiness is an important part of their life and worth striving for, but societal views often cloud this perspective, forcing people to live their life in ways that may not produce happiness. The words in Fitter Happier describe this clouded view and explain that we as humans can sometimes be just seen as a machine to produce productivity. The American Dream and attaining wealth to produce happiness has been an extremely significant mythos in American History ever since the inception and freedom of America. America was known for freedom, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This demonstrates that for most Americans, societal pressures have become more important to them than their own happiness. This directly relates to David Foster Wallace s commencement speech as while he demonstrated how while he had a prosperous job, the monotony and emptiness he felt in his life pushed him over the edge. Pressure to only see jobs such as doctors, businessman, and engineer s as successful hampers the happiness for numerous people because people often choose their industry based on what their peers or family members would consider to be a path to success. People often care more about the way they look to others than the way that they feel about themselves, and choosing an industry to attain more wealth is just an example of that. I struggle with this problem too, as my parents both want me to be an Accountant, but I find that I struggle with Accounting and it isn t and industry I enjoy. I would much rather explore other industries, and see what I enjoy before setting myself on a ridged path, but because of family expectations and societal standards, I am still an accounting major even though I would not be happy with a job in Accounting. This is a bit hypocritical because in this way I am conforming to normative values, but this shows the struggle that many people have today between balancing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. A Brief Note On Provocation And Its Effects On The Reform... Provocation is an arising contemporary issue, the effectiveness of both legal and non legal responses have significantly impacted on the reform of the laws relating to it. Provocation is a partial defence act that can be used by someone who has killed another person if they claimed to be induced with anger or provoked to do it. It can be used to lessen the severity of a charge as the person can say they were provoked into killing someone, pleading guilty of a charge of voluntary manslaughter rather than one of murder which has a longer sentence. Current issues that have risen from this defence are the misuse or rather unfair exploitation of it that has allowed some to get away with murder. Due to this, reform of the law is needed as ... (s 23(a) Crimes Act 1900 (NSW) A legal response concerning provocation can be shown through in the Crimes Act 1900 (NSW) s 23(a) legislation. This legislation states that provocation can be used under the circumstance that the deceased induced their own death, this includes words or gestures. The person that killed the other had to have lost control and killed suddenly without intent. This was what the legislation stated prior to the amendment, it states the following: Crimes Act 1900 (NSW) s 23 (a) (1) The accused had to be provoked into committing the crime; the jury will have to charge them with manslaughter rather than murder. (2) The act causing death under provocation where: (a) The act caused loss of self control, including gestures or words from the deceased. (b) The acts of the deceased would have to provoke an ordinary person making them lose control so to the point of the intention to kill or cause harm. (3) There is no laws in which provocation is accepted if: (a) There is not a reasonable reason (b) The act was planned and not sudden (c) They had the intent to kill (4) The prosecution will have to prove that it was not provocation, beyond reasonable doubt. Cla Research Paper Mechanism of the Health promoting Effects of the Food Ingredient Evidence suggests that the biological effectiveness of CLA are due to the separate actions of cis 9, trans 11 and trans 10, cis 12 isomers. It is likely that numerous health effects are enhanced by synergistic actions of these isomers. Findings such as, inhibition of chemically induced carcinogenesis, enhanced immune system, reduction of atherosclerosis, enhanced growth, fat reduction are attributed to a mixture of these CLA isomers (Pariza, Park, Cook, 2001). Insulin resistance can also be caused by increased triglycerides and free fatty acids intake. This is due to the effect Triglycerides and free fatty acids have on insulin stimulated signal pathways, translocation protein 4 and glucose uptake (Choi, Jung, Park, Song, 2004). It is found that CLA has a regulatory effect on glucose and lipid metabolism regulators. CLA affects the PPAR y ligand, a major receptor that influences the expression and transcription of genes that are related to the metabolic effects of glucose and lipids. Such protein regulators as aP2, insulin dependent glucose transporter 4, FATp, ACS and adiponectin are all influenced by increased CLA. (Xiao Rong Zhoua, Chang Hao Suna, Jia Ren Liua, b, Dan Zhaoa, 2008). It was also theorized that CLA may act on other glucose regulators such as phosphoenolpyruvate carboxylase, glucose 6 phosphate, glucokinase, sterol regulation element finding protein, acyl coenzyme A oxidase, fatty acid synthase and uncoupling protein. Testing done on rats with a mixture of cis 9, trans 11 and trans 10, cis 12 CLA had found that the only effected regulatory agents were regulators involved in gluconeogenesis such as Phosphoenol carboxykinase and transcriptional factors, sterol regulating element binding protein 1c and PPAR y (Choi, Jung, Park, Song, 2004). The main regulatory effect on insulin resistance was the effect on ligand PPAR y, a key regulator in lipid homeostasis. Mixtures of CLA isomers consisting of cis 9, trans 11 and trans 10,cis 12 effect gene expression of PPARy mRNA in rats. It was found to have affected the levels of aP2, FATP, ACS and adipoenectin mRNA expression in adipose tissue. CLA increased These regulatory proteins resulting in an uptake of free fatty acids into the adipose tissue and decreasing uptake into the muscle tissue. This has been found to improve muscle insulin ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

More important than what Cliff has done at CDSI, though, is how he s done it. Few stereotypes are more pervasive today or certainly in Cliff s case more unfair than that of the corporate business leader as crass, heartless, adept at taking but incapable of giving. Cliff, in the life he has led and in the model he has established as head of a hugely successful company, gives lie to that stereotype. His approach to corporate leadership is founded on his innate humanity, his basic decency, his involvement with others on a human level. They first came up with a pre test that asked over 151 college students who were volunteers, below the graduate level questions related to how they formulate ideas pertaining to solving answers to their everyday lives, along with a short consult. This is a troublesome task in itself because the person, or persons being tested on their life questions could feel too embarrassed to answer the questions honestly, and falsify their answer making it harder to formulate their research. Also, by have an inner dialog a certain type of question can have an effect of the outcome because one has to take in account of what has been going on during the assessment combining it all together whether the task was hard, easy, or the participant was just not really interested. Another way that a test questioner can fail to gather the best information is if the questions are not set up in categories to more formulate the hypothesis. As this case just mentioned the site soil classification of this reclaimed land is H1 but not mention the soil type. If it s sandy area, removal trees might cause less damage to the soil because sand does not swell or shrink with changes in moisture (Victorian building authority, 2015). However, if these trees are used to take more moisture from the underground water system in clay soil land, the tree removal land will become more wet or dry due to the different surrounding agricultural situation. For example, if there are heavy rainy after the tree removal and there are no other trees or shrubs around the site, too much accumulated water will stay on the hole and change the clay soils to be more reactive. On the other hand, if there are other big trees and shrubs around the site, the extra moisture will be absorbed by these trees and the site soil is going to be dry. Thus, the classification of the soil will be changed and it lead to change the footing construction system as well. The Bad Sides Of Evil In Shakespeare s Hamlet As A Bad Man Hamlet as a Bad Man The Hamlet is one of the greatest plays by Shakespeare, which provides an account of an example of the Victorian royal feud. The main character of the play, Hamlet, whose characters help in providing the directions for the play, depicts different demeanors depending on how one views him. It is normative for a prince to orchestrate the revenge for the death of his father, especially if the killer occupies the throne that one is an heir of. The play, therefore, may help in depicting Hamlet as a bad person in different views in terms of the political crisis that his kingdom was going through. A birthday party without a piñata just doesn t seem to be a birthday party. The element of danger and malice all in good fun is in the air and it makes a giddy happiness that is addictive to the point where they are giggling and laughing before they know they are or the reason why they are. In The Lottery, by Shirley Jackson, things are done the way they have always been done, even if there is no reason why. Certain people remember where the rituals created, and certain people seem to know why they are important. Yet tradition is important, so they continue. The Lottery is an excellent example of an allegorical short story. Jackson uses symbolism through the description of the characters, significant objects, and the actions in the story. Consider two important symbols in the story the box and the stool. The postmaster, Mr. Summers, followed by Mr. Graves, carried the three legged stool and put it in the center of the square. • 36. Impact Of Arch On Roman Architecture The development of concrete and the arch was integral to the advancement of Roman architecture. Both had a great impact on the people of Rome from all walks of life. When designing a building, the load that must be supported is a very important consideration. Various building materials will each have their own levels of strength and ability to support loads. In addition to this, the way in which the building material is utilized may also play a role in the ability of the building to support large loads. The implementation of concrete as a building material led to much stronger walls and supports in Roman buildings. Additionally, the development of the arch was revolutionary in its ability to support loads. The types and sizes of structures that the Romans could build became unlike anything seen before, and they also became very interested in working with interior spaces, as well (Ambler, n.d.). ... The arch continues to feature prominently in...designs and with good reason: Its semicircular structure elegantly distributes compression through its entire form and diverts weight onto its two abutments (Lamb, 2000). The key to the structure is located in the center of the arch and is called a keystone. Remove it and the entire structure collapses. The entire structure is dependent upon the architect not designing an opening that is too wide. That would also lead to increased pressure and decreased structural integrity (Lamb, 2000). As you can imagine, the arch opened the door to a great many changes in structural design. The Romans utilized it in their homes and in their public buildings. It found its way into bridge design, as well. Yet, the arch alone does not explain the amazing advancements made in Roman architecture. Concrete also play a huge part in shaping Roman construction. Countries and states in the Northern Hemisphere generally contain societies that are much more advanced technologically, economically, socially, and politically than their Southern hemisphere counter parts. Northern societies have the advantages derived from coalescing indigenous groups into autocratic societies over that past 500 years. This allowed them to dedicate a large amount of resources to meet the needs of each society. An additional disadvantage they have when compared to the EDCs is their lack of education and communication skills. • 40. Fixed Cost Accounting 2 Why do manager put such a great amount of emphasis on controlling fixed cost in their organizations? Fixed costs are constant and have an impact towards profits despite the number of items sold. Reducing the fixed cost amounts is a sustainable way to make more profits and increase operating leverage (Edmonds Tsay Olds). Suggested by Reiss, outsourcing is a way of turning fixed costs into variable costs. Variable costs have a dependence of cost based on production or sale of the product (Reiss, 2010). One example of this fixed vs. variable costs transition would be telesales, instead of hiring 45 people to work inbound and outbound phone calls one could pay a service to answer the phones at a cost per minute. Finally, the newborn emerges into the world, taking its first, fresh breath of air; then, suddenly, a screeching scream like no other proliferates throughout the room. The infant finds its voice for the first time. But, the ability to speak ceases to begin with one s first resonance; rather, it commences when we find our true selves influenced by inevitable circumstances and situations, where one s voice truly shines forth. • 42. The Rule Of The Us Constitution The words democracy and republicanism are words most commonly used, but often misunderstood. The Father of the US Constitution, James Madison, has been an eye opener for many who are still uncertain of what the words mean. When we think of the term democracy and republicanism, we automatically make an assumption that reflects on politics, power, voting, elections and parliaments. Madison, however; focused more on liberty, freedom, and what is right for the people. Simultaneously, he felt as if the people should choose who represents them and will make decisions on the issues based on what the people saw fit for their needs. In contrary to what Madison believe, he recognized that tyranny for majorities is a major threat to freedom. Therefore, a republicanism can be interpreted as a country owned by its people rather than by a monarch. Democracy, however; is the rule of the people, according to Madison. It is understood that representatives in a democracy is supposed to be balanced rather than unsteady. It is accurate that we do not govern by pure majority rule, because people within the government system simply do not understand the issues. In some form or another, there will be protection for minorities within their rules and laws and even with the substantial powers afforded to majorities in Parliament. In Madison s paper, Federalist #10, he states that The two great points of difference between a democracy and a republic are: first, the delegation of the government, in ...
