James Berry Bentley
An ex con recently released from prison tries to ruin his brother s football career, blaming him for
turning him into the police.
BRIEF SYNOPSIS
BENTLEY (30 s) has just been released from prison. A mob boss tells JT to get him back in the
business stealing cars. Bentley s younger half brother, DAVID (23), isn t happy to see Bentley. A
friend, LIONEL (20 s) also isn t happy to see Bentley. He s the one who snitched on him.
Bentley has a grudge against David believing he turned him into the police after a liquor store robbery.
The gun is still hidden in the attic. David is thrilled to have signed with the New Orleans Saints
Football team.
When Bentley meets a psychic who tells him his future, Bentley is determined to reclaim his destiny.

His life changes when he meets the psychic and he seems to think it s a message. One can see in a
comedy how this might work (think ANAYLZE THINK film). In a drama the psychic doesn t work.
Bentley has a big ego and he resents his brother. He feels cheated by life. He believes in destiny and
fate. He wants to be back on top. Because of the ambiguous tone, right now, Bentley isn t a likable
character. At the end, he becomes pitiful in the bridge scene.
David has an actionable goal to be on the football team. He s more serious about life. However, one
doesn t really feel they get to know David very well. He s not a character that stands out. His inner
conflict has to do with feeling guilty about Bentley. It s unclear who his father is. David has a lot at
risk, but he s not a proactive character. Find ways to make David more relatable to the audience. In a
comedy, find his comedic beats. David s character arc is also not well defined.
Of concern is that one doesn t really root for David, because he s not interesting enough and the
audience isn t invested in his career.
Lionel is more distinctive. He s child like, and he seems intimidated by Bentley. He has a difficult
time making decisions. For some reason it appears that he snitched years ago, but it s not clear

Comparing Jane Austen s Pride And Prejudice
I. Introduction
a. As written in How to Read Literature Like a Professor, there s only one story, but each one is unique
in how it s put together. This can be seen as one reads Pride and Prejudice and the cruel treatment in
society and the love that drifts through seems like a cliché, but the story is still its own book.
b. Summary: With news of a wealthy family coming to town, the Bennet family sets their minds to get
at least one of their five daughters married. Upon going to visit the wealthy Bingleys, Jane, the eldest
daughter, gets sick in the rain and must stay at their house in Netherfield under the care of her family s
second oldest daughter, Elizabeth. The true personalities of the Bingley family then come out to be
snobby and rude, except for Mr. Bingley and his friend Mr. Darcy. As real and fake love fills the air,
the Bennet s youngest daughter gets ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Elizabeth then forms prejudices against both Mr. Darcy and Mr. Wickham. She immediately looks
poorly upon Mr. Darcy, but very highly on Mr. Wickham, who she believes to be too handsome and
trustworthy looking to lie. With this, she also looks down on Charlotte for marrying for money, but
believes it s okay for Mr. Wickham to as a man in distressed circumstances has not time for all those
elegant decorums which other people may observe (Austen 115). This is not only evidence of her
prejudice, but shows the difference on how males and females are viewed, for what is okay for one to
do may not be for the other.
d. Towards the end, the happy mood starts to come out as love is formed. After their fight when Mr.
Darcy proposed, Elizabeth notices how he has fixed the quirks she pointed out, which Austen uses as a
way to lighten the tone of the novel and end it on a happier note.
e. Although their views may have been very harsh and negative in the beginning, both Elizabeth and
Mr. Darcy leave the novel with very little prejudice and only good pride, but the reader has the same
feelings when they close the

Abstract
The article focuses on the model of security engineering, which can be separated into two different
parts: operational and controllable. The operational part of model provides useful data on the
performance of the system. With the collected data, it can lead to creating a better result on the second
part of the model which is to define the security controls. Security control provides the measurement
of the system. For each phase, there is a certain control that needs to be performed. With the two
models combine it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Document the high level concept and bring into the next phase, design phase.
The second phase is called design phase. Capture the information from the previous phase and
establish a plan. A plan that provides an architectural view to put into action. The design phase comes
after a good understanding of customer s requirements (Alwan, 2015). The design phase is basically
creating an action plan for the rest of the process to follow.
The third phase is called the development phase. In the development phase, the engineers are focusing
on the objectives.
The fourth phase is called the deployment phase. During the deployment phase, the development
product should fulfill the criteria of the customer. In some life cycle model, this stage usually being
called integration, verification, and validation. Moreover, in the deployment phase, this is where the
engineering s object being integrated into the system (Marchant, 2013).
The fifth phase is called the operations phase. The operation phase is simply making sure all activities
are sustained and function properly. Not only making sure the objects are working, but also providing
support, updates, and repairs.
The last phase of the SDLC is called the retirement phase. Without the retirement phase, the security
vulnerability may be exposed. Disposing the old system and making sure the API, and database is

The Role Of Individualism In Ancient Greece
The rich imagination of the Greeks gave color, verve and texture to every facet of nature and aspect of
the world that they perceived. Their deep, open minded, philosophically rich and at the same time
sensuous and lively outlook on existence are noticeable. It is this that has given their culture it s
lasting quality. The growth of Greek life and art are a marvel of individualism, and at the same time
the ability to look at a problem from all angles. Thus we see that the Greeks were able to see all
aspects of the issues that they faced and alternate between modes like lyrical, romantic, and tragic.
Greek tragedy is one of its great achievements. Their sense of destiny fate and mythology which by
analogy illustrates many philosophical observations ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is a measure of their strength, shorn of all stage play and fog, they still shine in their human
qualities. There is a deep understanding of the basis of individuality and humanism in this. Insist on
yourself and show yourself unshorn, thus says the lover of truth or VERITAS in all things. The love of
beauty, of nature and of humanity, whole and pure in a higher sense, above all philosophical and
tolerant, shows from all their creations. Greek culture was amazingly holistic and absorptive, perhaps
a legacy of the wayfaring Phoenicians, of hardy seamen and explorers. The Greeks faced nature in all
its capriciousness, they did not hide or turn away but manfully, embraced nature and it s conundrums
all the same. They looked the stormy seas, inside and outside, full in the face and did not shrink from
life. Embrasure of life with open arms is the very symbol of the Greeks. A cosmopolitan, tolerant,
irreverent, heroic, individualistic, human, frail, weak, many sided, truthful, naturalistic, humanistic
phenomenon, which challenged the might of the Persian tyrant again and again to do its worst but
would not yield it s freedom of hard birth and growth. The phoenix rebirthing again and again could
be a fitting symbol of the Greek culture. The plumed Amazon warrioress, symbol of feminity, appears
again and again, not shying away from a trial of strength. Passionately full of life, wiles, loves and

Case report for Linear Technology
The main purpose of the report is to make a decision for Linear Technology on dividend policy. The
report analyzed the impact of changing future dividend policy on the value of the company, based on
its historical performance, financial history and market trends.
Linear Technology is a large scale company which focus on the analog segments within
semiconductor industry. It went public in 1986 and announced its dividend policy on 1992. Nowadays,
under the market environment where dividends are unwilling to be paid, Linear still insisted its
dividend commitment.
Now Linear Technology is experiencing some difficulties with its profits that its quarter sales number
in 2003 was far below that in last fiscal year, despite some growth. ... Show more content on

This encourage the Linear to use cash balance to buy back their shares. At last, Linear did not plan to
make acquisitions and it had over $1.5 million cash and short term investment in recent years.
Therefore Linear should return some cash to its shareholders due to the advantages discussed above.
What are the tax consequences of keeping cash inside the firm?
Linear would pay the corporate tax for earnings no matter the company chose to keep the cash or give
it out. And if linear offered dividend, the shareholders had to pay for the dividend tax, meaning
shareholders paid double taxes. Considering the proposal raised by President George W Bush in
January 2003 that the taxes of dividends can be eliminate if they were paid out of earnings that had
already been taxed and the capital gain tax is still required, the shareholders would benefit from saving
dividend tax as if the company decided to offer dividend. Therefore the proposal would encourage the
company to return cash to the shareholders.
I would like to add sth. to your answer. Basically about why keeping money in the firm does no good.
Please look at the content below and choose do or do not add these in the answer : )
If the cash is kept in the firm, there are chances that these capitals will be reinvested and bring the
Linear Technology potential benefit from tax shield and interest earnings. Thus, a part of the
opportunity costs of paying dividend will be a deduction of tax by the nature of debt

The Dangers Of Immunization In Children
Abstract
Parents are bombarded with information when it comes to their children and their children s health
and it happens the moment they are born. One main question they face off the bat is whether to
immunize or not. For children ages 0 18, the CDC recommends vaccinations against 16 diseases,
many of which could result in devastating illnesses and even death. Several injections coupled with
several possibilities of severe reactions, pain, irritation, itching, ect. But through extensive, heavily
monitored research and effectiveness, and evidence based science illustrating the improvements and
protection of the community it is clear that their benefits outweigh their risks. This paper will outline
why the decision to immunize is one less ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some believe immunization can cause autism, brain damage, multiple sclerosis, seizures, or life
threatening anaphylaxis. While it s best to show respect for these opinions, I simply disagree and am
guided by evidenced based data that illustrates no link between the dangers listed above and
immunizations (Vaccines Immunizations, 2010). According to CDC, there are several different types
of studies pertaining to, maintaining and ensuring the safety vaccines including clinical trials,
laboratory tests, and animal studies. There is constant monitoring of the safety of vaccines from
scientist, along with federal government, state, and local health departments, other partners, and the
public. CDC also monitors the safety of vaccines through a series of activities such as: VAERS
(vaccine adverse event reporting system), clinical immunization safety assessment project, vaccine
safety datalink, and emergency preparedness for vaccine safety (Vaccines Immunizations, 2010). High
quality research, broad understanding, constant monitoring, evolving knowledge and understanding,
and public health surveillance approach coupled with the many major medical organizations such as
CDC, IOM, AAP, AMA, and FDA to a name a few contribute to the validity of the safety and
effectiveness of the vaccines and immunizations. In a controversial topic, when one side has sufficient
and manifested scientific facts followed and supported by world renowned sources, and the other side
simply strong opinions and beliefs, swayed views lacking data and evidence based research, and
uncreditable sources linking a cause to conditions without regard to scientific

Similarities Between Puritans And Humanists
Although numerous people do good to make the world a better place, many people perform good
actions out of consequential fear that may come if certain actions are not performed. Puritans believe
in doing good actions in order to seek rewards, and they undertake good projects out of fear. On the
contrary, Humanists believe in doing good in order to make the world a better place. Overall, both
Puritans and Humanists present good actions to obtain their beliefs. Many Puritans believe in
performing good because of consequential punishments. Thomas Watson, a Puritan, gives
representations by delivering; Christ heals with more ease than any other. Christ makes the devil go
out with a word (Mark 9:25). Nay, he can cure with a look: Christ s look melted Peter into repentance;
it was a healing look. If Christ doth but cast a look upon the soul he can recover it. Therefore David
prays to have a look from God, Look Thou upon me, and be merciful unto me (Psalm 119:132).

Although there are more puritanical actions portrayed rather than Humanist actions, Thomas Paine s,
The Crisis, No.1, gives examples of quite a few. Paine states that In the depth of winter, when nothing
but hope and virtue could survive, that the city and country, alarmed at once, a common danger come
forth. Paine s quote gives readers a sense that once there is danger about, people will come together
and fight for a common cause of liberty. By saying this, Paine refers to Humanist views by inferring
that people who come together are not fighting in order to receive praise from God, but to make their
country a better place. Although Paine does give good examples of people performing actions, and
bettering other people s lives, there are more people doing good in spite of puritanical

Abstract
This paper presents a comparison of mechanical properties of 17 4PH stainless steel parts built by
selective laser melting (SLM) additive manufacturing process with the wrought 17 4PH stainless steel
parts. The microstructure is analyzed using optical microscope and the mechanical properties are
evaluated using tensile testing according to ASTM E8 standard. Overall, the SLM fabricated samples
demonstrated superior tensile properties and the microstructure is strongly influenced by the SLM
process. The SLM processed specimens showed higher ductility and ultimate tensile strength than
wrought samples.

The Growth Of American Individuality
The Growth of American Individuality in Relation to Self Expression Religion is an imperfect savior.
Primitive civilizations depended on religion to explain the workings of the world; they depended on
gods to protect their crops and homes from disease, drought, and other disasters far out of human
control. While this dependency provided comfort, it sacrificed individuality. Recent years has seen the
rise of alternative forms of media: novels, digital music, movies. These were not available to previous
civilizations. Early Americans only had access to the Bible, which was unreadable to the average
illiterate. Newer forms of media have spurned a nation wide reflection on the old traditions that were
largely set by religion. Ever since the founding of the colonies, and ever since more diverse forms of
self expression have become more accessible, Americans have grown in individuality as they have
become less dependent on religion. The Puritans were the first of the Europeans to settle in the
Americas. While their traditions have left a profound mark on American culture, their strict ways are
rather peculiar. In The Crucible, Arthur Miller critiques Puritan society as close minded and obsessed
about maintaining conformity. The parochial snobbery of these people was partly responsible for their
failure to convert the Indians. Probably they also preferred to take land from heathens rather than from
fellow Christians (140). The Puritans revolved their culture around religion,

Essay on British Rule in Florida
The British were not good rulers because they had only ruled for 20 years, while Spain had dominated
Florida for over 288 years. The British were weak, the only reason they got Florida was because they
were teamed with the French. This of course was before the Treaty of Paris. In 1672 the British had
captured Havana but the use of it was nothing. Many of the British territories had recruiting programs
that were not hard to like. Also when the British were working for good times luck was not there for
them. Crops died within the first few months of their new colony. Also more diseases had really hurt
the British. Diseases as in mosquito bites that cause malaria. For some colonists British times were
very hard. This was a big reason why ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One raid on the American South was so serious Colonel John Baker had to surrender to the British.
Soon after the attack the American Revolutionary War was almost about to happen. Some loyalists
remained well..loyal to the British during that time period. The 2 sides as in the east and west side
were very royal colonies. Even though the Spain had ruled for a longer period time. The British had
one advantage they were able to recruit permanent settlers. Most of Florida s officials were looking to
save money to keep public services going. The Proclamation of 1763 outlawed settlement west of the
appalachians to the newly acquired Florida. The Britishers partners were the French. The French had
strong desires to develop trade within their new colony and also outsiders around it. Each pioneer
settler was given 100 acres of land and 50 acres per family member, i mean who could complain about
that. Soon after this the British went to war against the British. After the war with France it nearly
bankrupted the British government. The British were so worried about pirate attacks that they had to
call a militia to assure safety. Around 1776 about 7 years before the British rule was over, West Florida
was bigger than East Florida. West Florida had extended to Lake Pontchartrain, Louisiana. This was
also a major problem because they had problems increasing migration of the Indians into the region.

Similarities between Martin Luther King s Letter from...
Even the most cursory analysis of Letter From Birmingham Jail by Martin Luther King, Jr. and A
Modest Proposal by Jonathan Swift reveals glaring differences between the two essays. Surprisingly, a
side by side comparison also yields many similarities between the two works. The most obvious
similarity between the two essays is the overarching theme of the subject matter. In both essays, the
writers address deeply entrenched social injustices. For example, in Letter From Birmingham Jail ,
King, in his highly impassioned and evocative style, submits a powerful essay that addresses racial
segregation in the American South during the 1950s and 1960s. In his letter, King mentions that the
brutal history of the American Negro s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In spite of the radical differences between Swift s and King s literary devices and the forthrightness of
their solutions to socially unjust laws and practices, there remain many similarities between the two
essays that need to be explored further. King made several references to Christian Biblical stories,
especially from the Gospels, in Letter From Birmingham Jail . King s letter takes on a religious,
almost grandiose proportion with King likening his quest for racial equality to a Christian mission: I
am in Birmingham because injustice is here. Just as the eighth century prophets left their little
villages...I too am compelled to carry the gospel of freedom beyond my particular hometown (1).
While Swift certainly does not adopt the persona of a religious man in A Modest Proposal , his essay
also contains religious elements, albeit comments made in an underhanded jest. Swift makes a few
jibes at Roman Catholicism, stating that, if his proposal were implemented, a collateral benefit would
be that, due to the higher reproduction rate of Roman Catholics in Ireland, the kingdom would be
made a better place by lessening the number of Papists LAST NAME 4 among us. Swift extends such

Qualitative research accentuates much exploratory reasoning on data to be placed beneath inductive

Sexually Transmitted Diseases Are A Type Of Disease
Sexually transmitted diseases are a type of disease that can be passed from person to person by many
forms of sexual contact. These different forms of contact can be oral, anal, or vaginal. STDs are seen
in different forms such as bumps, rashes, or unseen to the naked eye. Some common STDs are
chlamydia, herpes, syphilis, and HIV/AIDS. A person of any gender, race, or age can get an STD but
there is different stigma attached to that person depending on their gender. Gender influences people
to view the STD and that person who has it differently. This paper is set out to find why gender affects
people s views of STDs and how moral panic can set in depending on the STD. The topic of women
and STDs are not a good mix when it comes to society s opinions. According to the article titled
Damaged goods: women managing the stigma of STDs To understand the individual level experience
of living with a chronic STD, it is important to take into account how these infections are symbolically
constructed in American culture. (Nack, A p. 97) There is a certain stigma against women who have
had or currently have an STD. A stigma is a set of negative and often unfair beliefs that a society or
group of people have about something. (Meriam Webster) This stigma is attached to women because
they are considered to be damaged goods when they have or had an STD. This feeling of being
damaged can come from the woman herself or others. When a woman has an STD she can lose her

that do not belong to them and are guilty of copyright infringement. Copyright law needs to be
tightened up in the digital space to protect the creator of their unique work. In the case of Metallica v
Napster (2000), Metallica filed suit against Napster for infringing upon their ownership of their unique
music. The suit claims that Napster devised and distributed software whose sole purpose is to permit
Napster to profit by abetting and encouraging piracy (Doan, 2000). The music was original and
copyrighted by Metallica. The Napster song downloads were being done without their consent or
royalties paid. The court ruled in favor of Metallica and eventaully shutting down Napster for
Copyright infringement. With technology so readily available there are many people and companies
who have participated in similar illegal activities. The original copyright law did not take into
consideration the digital area. By implementing Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) it has
tightened up the protection of things online and in the digital arena.
The DMCA makes it illegal to circumvent digital rights management technology or to import, offer to

The Relief and Intaglio Printmaking Process
Describe the Relief Printmaking process. List an artist who uses the form of printmaking. Refer to this
video for more information.
The Relief Printmaking process is a printmaking process in which someone covers a block of material,
such as wood, in ink. Then they proceed to deeply etch out the inked surface in the form of a design.
Once that is done, they lay paper over the block with pressure so that the ink is shared generously all
over the paper. When the paper is removed, the design will have been transferred and they will have
the finished artwork. Using a block of wood is known as Woodcut Relief Printmaking, or Woodcuts .
There are also Wood Engravings, where a stronger type of wood is used so an artist can engrave an
image into the surface rather than cut it out. In my opinion, the second step of the process could be left
to remain as the art itself. In the video showing the process as Lyell Castonguay created his piece,
Hydra , I thought the design in the ink coated wood looked more bold and real than the actually piece.
But this may only be for the reason that the finished product lacked color in comparison. Of course,
Lyell isn t the only artist who uses this printmaking process. Another artist who uses Relief
Printmaking is Katsushika Hokusai. Hokusai used the same process to create his color woodcut piece
called South Wind, Clear Sky , a portrayal of Mount Fuji. Describe the Intaglio Printmaking process.

The Policy Of The Federal Government Should Enact Based On...

Debate as a Life
Background History of Debate In my sophomore year of highschool, I joined the policy debate club.
Policy debate was an intensive academic activity where teams of two would engage in discussions on
the best government s policy to enact. There would be two teams in each debate round: affirmative or
negative. The affirmative would have to propose a policy that the U.S federal government should
enact based on their constructed advantages for implementation. After that speech, the negative team
would have to make arguments, for examples, kritiks, disadvantages, and counterplans, to refute the
implementation of the plan. Throughout an almost two hour debate round, both teams will try to speak
almost 500 words per minute in order to respond to arguments. As one can imagine, debate is fast
paced activity that boils down to which team can best defend their arguments. Within in this debate
round, there would be a judge to decide the winner. Flow: Difference between Exotelic and Autotelic
The concept of flow in occupational science is described as an autotelic experience where an
individual is fully engaged under a high challenge activity. Often times, one may lose sense of time
due to high level of concentration. My engagement with debate did not begin with an autotelic
experience, but I was introduced by my friends to a debate camp that paid students $400 dollars each
to learn the structure of policy debate. This

There is consequently a vast and continuous effort going on to capture our minds in the interest of
some policy or commodity or idea. It might be better to have, instead of propaganda and special
pleading, committees of wise men who would choose our rulers, dictate our conduct, private and
public, and decide upon the best types of clothes for us to wear and the best kinds of food for us to

Propaganda eat. But we have chosen the opposite method, that of open competition. We must find a
way to make free competition function with reasonable smoothness. To achieve this society has
consented to permit free competition to be organized by leadership and propaganda. Some of the
phenomena of this process are criticized the manipulation of news, the inflation of personality, and the
general ballyhoo by which politicians and commercial products and social ideas are brought to the
consciousness of the masses. The instruments by which public opinion is organized and focused may
be misused. But such organization and focusing are necessary to orderly life. As civilization has
become more complex, and as the need for invisible government has been increasingly demonstrated,
the technical means have been invented and developed by which opinion may be regimented. With the

Ketogenic Diet Vs Aerobic Exercise
Many prefer doing an exercise that is done with a combination of body movements; just like the
aerobic exercise with the cyclical ketogenic diet. It is not really an easy way to do because it requires a
lot of energy in performing it. This kind of exercise is not advisable to those who are on a restricted
calorie diet especially when their energy is also affected. When doing an aerobic exercise you must
have enough energy to accomplish it but how will you able to do it if you are just eating a limited
amount of food. Once an individual is on a diet he or she can only do limited activities. It can even
make them easily get tired and become weak. This does not happen when you are on a ketogenic diet.
It doesn t mean that when you are already

Recommendations for PPCo
Executive Summary Technology is often characterized as an industry with rapid change, lower cycle
times, and quick innovations. These assessments are generally true in regards to hardware
components. In many instances hardware components are subject to stiff price competition as they are
often commodity like products. Innovations occur, which allows firms to charge higher prices for their
product offerings. The pricing powers of these offerings are quickly eroded as competitors quickly
match or exceed the competing firm s specifications. This vicious cycle occurs in many hardware
components, including disk drives. Disk drives are unique as they often account for upwards of 40%
of the total costs of the computer. In addition they are essential functions as they directly impact
capacity and speed of the overall competing unit. Due to this priority, companies are often innovating
the disk drive to either reduce costs or increase capacity. These innovations are then marketed through
distribution channels that ultimately help drive revenue growth for the firm. However, due to the rapid
evolution that is occurring in the industry it is difficult to have a distribution network that is dedicated
or loyal to particular products. Due to rapid evolution a product in demand today, often becomes
obsolete tomorrow. As such distributors must cater to all competitors to ensure the correct products are
sold at the highest margins to consumers. PPCo must now create better disk drives that

Challenges Children Face that Need to Be Addressed
Children in our communities are exposed to many challenges that need to be addressed by teachers
and adults in order to keep a healthy environment that promotes their development. Parents need to be
aware of children s different temperaments to make socialization easier and to improve friendships
and understanding. Teachers need to be aware of the developmental practices to ensure the physical,
cognitive, emotional, and social development of children. Also, they need to be aware of the risk
factors that affect their school performance and their life to help them overcome their problems. The
two children with a very different temperament that I am going to describe are Maria and Jose. After
observing how they behave and act in different situations, I was able to know each of their
temperaments. For example, Maria fears strangers, gets frustrated very easily and most of the time is
fussy and moody. According to Roberta M. Berns, Maria s temperament is categorized as difficult
(Berns, 2013, p. 11). Socialization is rough at home and at school for this child. Therefore, the kind of
classroom and teaching style that could foster goodness of fit will be an environment with a lot of
space for her to do many activities that require energy and that help her with her frustration. It is
important to allow her to make some choices. As an educator, it is important for me to remember to
redirect her from one place to another and communicate with her so she knows what to

Questions On The Legal Right
The overarching question which this essay will address is whether Stephanie has any legal right to
Sunderlandland or Sunderland. The essay will analyse three subsidiary questions, the first being
whether the Sunderland was a fixture or remained a chattel, if it was a fixture then the new owner of
the land also acquired ownership rights to it. The second issue is whether there was a valid contract, a
binding agreement to sell and transfer land in return for the payment of an agreed price , between
Stephanie and Wangle for Sunderlandland. In relation to this, the final question being whether
Stephanie was able to use the defence of proprietary estoppel, which revolves around the idea that if a

Nonetheless, there can be doubt casted upon the court s decision in Holland v Hodgson regarding the
looms being fixtures. This is because when using the first test Thompson proclaims that only if the
item, cannot be removed without destroying that structure... it will regarded as being part of the land ,
but was held that the looms could easily be removed without any serious damage to the flooring.
Conversely, in Chelsea Yacht and Boat Co Ltd v Pope the damage to the land was considered a
significant factor as the Court of Appeal deemed the degree of annexation of the houseboat which was
moored on the Thames to be insufficient as Tuckey LG stated: the houseboat could be moved quite
easily without injury to itself or the land. However, Berkley v Poulett undermined the importance of
the degree of annexation as Scarman LJ declared it may now prove nothing as, the second test,
purpose of the annexation takes precedence. The purpose of annexation is judged upon whether the
item has been so fixed for the better enjoyment of the object or to affecting a permanent improvement
of the freehold . Leigh v Taylor corroborates Scarman as the court held that the tapestries were chattels
as although they were affixed to the walls, the purpose of the annexation was for the tapestry to be
enjoyed as an ornament rather than to enhance the building . The case of Mew v Trismire further
strengthens Scarman s contention, as

What Is Upton Sinclair s Attitude Towards The Meat Industry

would get to negative twenty degrees with one or two feet of snow on the ground. With it being that
cold outside, the factories did not have any sort of heating inside the building, so it would be that cold

Social Process Theory Essay
Social Process Theory
Social Process and Crime
In the social process theory, three areas are covered. The three are social learning theory, social control
theory, and social reaction theory.
The definition of the social learning theory is People learn through observing others behavior,
attitudes, and outcomes of those behaviors. Most human behavior is learned observationally through
modeling: from observing others, one forms an idea of how new behaviors are performed, and on later
occasions this coded information serves as a guide for action. (Learning Theories Knowledgebase ).
Most people learn through watching other. As a child, we learn by mocking what we have observed
repeatedly. This is how we learn to walk, talk, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If the child feels that, they do not have a chance in school this may lead to them dropping out. In this
situation, the child does not have a chance to build a steady relationship with the teacher for support.
Another factor that can affect a child and what they learn can be peer groups. If the child is hanging
around with a group that has antisocial behavior then they can fall into the trap of being bad because it
is cool. The bad crowd can lead any child to deviant behavior and down the wrong path. The more
violent the group the more likely the child will be to commit serious crime to impress their friends.
One of the subcategories of Social Learning Theory is the Differential Association Theory first
developed by Edwin H. Sutherland in 1939 in a text call Principles of criminology. The basic steps to
this theory are. (Sutherland, 1939)
1. Criminal behavior is learned.
2. Learning is a by product of interaction.
3. Learning occurs within intimate groups.
4. Criminal techniques are learned.
5. Perceptions of legal code influence motives and drives.
6. Differential associations may very in frequency, duration, priority, and intensity.
7. The process of learning criminal behavior by association with criminal and anticriminal patterns
involves all of the mechanisms involved in any other learning process.
8. Criminal behavior is an expression of general

De Stijl Research Paper
There were many contributions made by the artists and designers working in the De Stijl and the
Constructivism movements. Two artists that greatly contributed to the De Stijl movement were
Picasso and Braque. Their paintings helped in defining a vocabulary of geometric forms , while still
using the elements of the real world. Another very important contributor to the De Stijl movement was
Piet Mondrian. Mondrian also helped in defining the vocabulary of art and design, even further than
Picasso and Braque had previously done. He used only primary colors, along with black and white, in
his artwork. Mainly, all the artists of the De Stijl movement wanted their artwork to simply rely on the
fundamental characteristics of having a vertical and horizontal grid. These artists hoped by using this
grid, their artwork would open up space, instead of enclosing space. Gerrit Rietveld showed these
same defining characteristics of the De Stijl art in his famous chair. His chair completely went against
the traditional, or the expected, elements of a normal chair. Both the arms and the base of the chair are
insistently locked in a vertical and horizontal grid. The seat and the back of the chair were used to help
create a more open space. Rietveld also only used ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Democracy And The United States Government
The United States Government is defined in many different ways. The most common that we hear are
the forms of democracy and republic. Although very similar, these are very loose terms when it comes
to categorizing our government. The respect for human rights and involvement of the nation s people
have been a main priority in the running of the government since the beginning. Unfortunately, over
time, we are seeing our freedoms and individual participation in the governments decisions slowly
declining in many aspects. This makes us question the government and our ultimates rights as citizens
that we currently have. The support we have for democracy is our support towards religious freedom,
worker rights, and also helps create a more stable and affluent system that manages our nation s
control and gives us the ability to have a bigger voices around the world.
In general, a democracy is a form of government that gives power to the people. There are various
forms that specify the amount of power and to whom it is admitted. A direct democracy is a form of
government in which the people decide policy matters directly (Mott 1), for example voting on ballot
referendums or attending town hall meetings. The people make the policies and complete decisions
based on majority rule. The nation s vast geography makes a direst democracy difficult. This term
often gets confused with a representative democracy, which is the United States form of government.

Forex Market is known for its volatility and uncertainty. The Euro/GBP has always been a stable pair

Up towards this point in the movie, Regan has been showing signs of an evilness lurking inside her

Compare And Contrast Walter And Mama In A Raisin In The Sun
In the book A Raisin in the Sun by Larraine Hansberry, Walter and Mama are the two most influential
characters to the plot. Walter is obnoxious and always thinks about himself while Mama is forceful
and very strict. They both play a major role in the story. Both have changed or impacted the plot and
characters feelings and or thoughts. Without them in the story it would be very different. Walter is a
very important character and impacts everybody by his actions and what he says and does. Walter
changes a lot throughout the story. He begins to become very hostile and short tempered towards his
family. He starts to lose all his family values and only starts to worry and care about the check that is
coming in. He says, did it come? will somebody please listen to me today!!! This shows that he wants
everyone to listen to his idea about what he wants to do with the money. While he wants this, he
shows no care or regard to anyone else s ideas or thoughts about it. The quotes show how selfish and
rude he is, also it shows how he has lost of all his family s values because he won t even listen to
anybody else. Walter has changed his whole family. He has started so much conflict with all his
family. His family at this rate will be better off without him. You ain t looked at it yet and you don t
aim to speak on that again? You ain t looked at it and you have decided well, you tell that to my boy
tonight when you put him to sleep on the living room couch. This just shows how much he wants to
have HER money for himself because he is selfish and a shallow person. He is the reason why the
family is tearing apart. Also, Walters actions show how edgy and inpatient he is. (Violently flinging
the coat after her) He starts to get very violent, he flings things, slams doors, yells at mama, and starts
to get verbally abusive towards her. He doesn t know how to let things go and how to think in another
person s perspective. He only wants to do what he wants, he doesn t care what the other family
members want he just knows what he wants to get and forces the decision upon them all. In this book

migrants or refugees. They are highly vulnerable to racism, and discrimination. The fact that an
increasing proportion of international migration today is irregular and unauthorized facilitates abuse
and exploitation. But, even when their movements are legal and authorized, non citizens face high
levels of discrimination. Immigrants both legal and illegal make up 13% of the nation s workers, the
highest percentage since the 1930s. They dominate job categories at both ends of the economic
spectrum. Immigrants hold 35% of the unskilled jobs. It is not that Americans are not afraid of doing
hard work; they are just unwilling to put themselves at risk of losing an eye or finger for minimum
wages.
In fact most of the nation s 17.7 million immigrant workers toil, like those who preceded them, in jobs
that native born Americans refuse to do. They work as meatpackers, hotel maids, hamburger flippers,
waiters, gardeners, seamstresses, fruit and vegetable pickers, and construction hands. (USA Today,
2001) Immigrants, above all illegal immigrants, can not defend themselves against abusive

The Farmers Market At The Larger Food Systems Society Essay
The purpose of this report is to explore the Farmers market at Farm to Fork in comparison to the larger
food systems society contains. Food is an important aspect in our everyday lives, however, individuals
often do not take into consideration the different social relations to food. The Farm to Fork was an
interactive public event promoting non GMO and organic food in order to achieve sustainability
within Ontario. In order to describe the importance of this farmers market, Smithers et al (2008),
provide a definition of what a farmers market contains in order to compare these elements to the
industrial food system. I believe the definition that they provide is an accurate representation of what
Farm to Fork wished to achieve. Smithers et al (2008), describe a farmers market as a complex an
ambiguous space where notions of local, quality, authenticity and legitimacy find expression and
transactions around food (p. 337). This paper seeks to not only understand alternative food markets
but to also touch upon the activism promoted by various speakers and vendors. An analysis will also
be provided on specific characteristics seen at this farmers market in comparison to course articles
focusing on farmers market from other experiences. Lastly, exploring the farmers market will allow
for a critical engagement on a comparison and contrast to the course concepts as well as raise
questions on consumer knowledge and understanding.

Conformity In Cults
Outcome:
A total of 74 members of Order of the Solar Temple died from various mass murder suicides between
1994 and 1997 in Switzerland, Canada and France. The first known instance was the murder of Tony
Dutroit and his wife and son. Dutroit was a member of the cult, but spoke out against it upon realising
its hypocrisy and deception and left. Soon after, he, his wife Nicky and son Emmanuel were the
victims of a grisly murder in Morin Heights, Québec, committed by members of the cult. It was
believed that this was upon Di Mambro s orders, apparently on the basis that Emmanuel was the
Antichrist and had come to stop Di Mambro from doing his spiritual bidding, but evidence shows that
it might be due to Dutoit s unwarranted exposure of the cult s ... Show more content on

In OST, Di Mambro and Jouret were generally very forceful and powerful leaders and prominent
authority figures within the cult, as they were the sources of the teachings the entire cult was centred
around; while in the presence of such authoritative figures, followers would have been under great
pressure to obey them. Jouret in particular had a strong air of credibility to his teachings, due to his
doctor s degree and his charismatic personality, which would have made it very easy to follow orders
from him. The leaders managed to strip followers of all their money and force them to adhere to strict
rules, and there is evidence of them ordering followers to stockpile weapons or even kill on their
behalf. Another example of the cult s obedience was Jouret s obsession with sex, which caused his
tendency to have intercourse with one of the female members before a ritual, saying that he needed it
to have the spiritual strength required for the ceremony the women involved always agreed without
complaint to this arrangement. (Bizarrepedia, 2015) Di Mambro and Jouret sometimes even ordered
married couples to separate on the basis of them not having any cosmic

The Effects Of Violence On Youth Violence Essay
Introduction: Violence is everywhere and due to this notion people find ways to accept it. Violence is
part of the national mythology. Meaning violence is a social construction. Violent acts cannot be
wholly understood unless we examine them as but one one link in the chain of a long process of
events (Schmidt Schröder 2001, 7). Violence and the responses to it are socially constructed, they are
phenomena viewed and interpreted in many different ways. For example, individuals become a
product of their environment. The lack of parental support, inflected by peers and their community
causes youth to act out violently. Every violent experience are molded and locked into the memory of
mind. Therefore the social construction of violence and the idea of memory, of recollections of
violence in someone life, is crucial to creating youth violence.
Violence is corrupting the minds of today s youth and destroying the future. Violence among young
people is the most common act of deviance seen today. Youth violence is framed as an epidemic
causing a moral panic. Youth violence is examined and labeled in order to construct responses. It
shows how the structure of the deviant act is constructed based on the normless and normal behavior
in society. Youth violence is socially constructed by the interpretation of social interactions each
adolescents faces. The youth generation is setting an example for the rest of America to show how
crisis situation arise and folds to tragic deaths.

Psychological contract in view of ARGYRIS: One of the first writers to use the term psychological
contract was ARGYRIS in 1960 who defined it as the implicit understanding between a group of
employees and their foreman. He described it as: A relationship may be hypothesized to evolve
between the employees and the foremen which might be called the psychological work contract . The
employee will maintain high production, low grievances etc. if the foreman guarantees and respects
the norms of the employee informal culture (i.e. let the employees alone, make certain they make
adequate wages and have secure jobs). In other words, he was proposing that a relationship existed
that potentially, had a stronger influence on employees performance and attitudes than the formal
contract of employment. However, Argyris referred to the psychological contract only in passing, and
Levinson et al (1962) claim to have been the father of the concept. They defined it as the unwritten
contract, the sum of the mutual expectations between the organization and employee . Psychological
contract in view of SCHEIN: The early view of the psychological contract, like the social contract
before clearly refers to mutual expectations and obligations. It differs from the social contract as it
specifically relates to the workplace and what the foreman expects of their team and what team
members, in turn, expect from the foreman. The psychological contract was refined by SCHEIN

Essay on Tell-tale Heart Literary Analysis
The Tell Tale Heart A Literary Analysis Like many of Poe s other works, the Tell Tale Heart is a dark
story. This particular one focuses on the events leading the death of an old man, and the events
afterwards. That s the basics of it, but there are many deep meanings hidden in the three page short
story. Poe uses techniques such as first person narrative, irony and style to pull off a believable sense
of paranoia. In this particular story, Poe decided to write it in the first person narrative. This technique
is used to get inside the main character s head and view his thoughts and are often exciting. The
narrator in the Tell Tale Heart is telling the story on how he killed the old man while pleading his
sanity. To quote a phrase ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Poe s economic style of writing is a key instrument in making this story amazing. In this story, he uses
his style to truly bring out what he intended for the story a study of paranoia. In example, I loved the
old man. He had never wronged me. He had never given me insult. For his gold I had no desire. I
think it was his eye! Yes, it was this! One of his eyes resembled that of a vulture a pale blue eye with a
film over it. Whenever it fell upon me my blood ran cold, and so by degrees, very gradually, I made up
my mind to take the life of the old man, and thus rid myself of the eye for ever. it is easy to see that
Poe used short sentences, to capture the rapid thoughts of a twisted mind. Perhaps the biggest element
in this story is the use of irony, both verbally and dramatically. For verbal irony, we can see clearly at
the end that what the narrator tells the officers and how he acts on the outside, (in a cool manner , as
he puts it) is much different than the chaos on the inside, as in what he wants to say. He sees the police
as villains and wishes them to leave, but due to the situation, he had to keep them there. The more that
he assures himself of his sanity near the end of the story and the more that he thinks that he is acting
coolly, eventually leads him to reveal that he is the one that killed the old man after all. As for
dramatic irony, since we know that the narrator is the one that killed the old man,

Because of the ambiguous tone, right now, Bentley isn t a likable character. At the end, he becomes pitiful in the bridge scene. David has an actionable goal to be on the football team. He s more serious about life. However, one doesn t really feel they get to know David very well. He s not a character that stands out. His inner conflict has to do with feeling guilty about Bentley. It s unclear who his father is. David has a lot at risk, but he s not a proactive character. Find ways to make David more relatable to the audience. In a comedy, find his comedic beats. David s character arc is also not well defined. Of concern is that one doesn t really root for David, because he s not interesting enough and the audience isn t invested in his career. • 3. Comparing Jane Austen s Pride And Prejudice I. Introduction a. As written in How to Read Literature Like a Professor, there s only one story, but each one is unique in how it s put together. This can be seen as one reads Pride and Prejudice and the cruel treatment in society and the love that drifts through seems like a cliché, but the story is still its own book. b. Summary: With news of a wealthy family coming to town, the Bennet family sets their minds to get at least one of their five daughters married. Upon going to visit the wealthy Bingleys, Jane, the eldest daughter, gets sick in the rain and must stay at their house in Netherfield under the care of her family s second oldest daughter, Elizabeth. The true personalities of the Bingley family then come out to be snobby and rude, except for Mr. Bingley and his friend Mr. Darcy. She immediately looks poorly upon Mr. Darcy, but very highly on Mr. Wickham, who she believes to be too handsome and trustworthy looking to lie. With this, she also looks down on Charlotte for marrying for money, but believes it s okay for Mr. Wickham to as a man in distressed circumstances has not time for all those elegant decorums which other people may observe (Austen 115). This is not only evidence of her prejudice, but shows the difference on how males and females are viewed, for what is okay for one to do may not be for the other. d. Towards the end, the happy mood starts to come out as love is formed. After their fight when Mr. Darcy proposed, Elizabeth notices how he has fixed the quirks she pointed out, which Austen uses as a way to lighten the tone of the novel and end it on a happier note. e. Although their views may have been very harsh and negative in the beginning, both Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy leave the novel with very little prejudice and only good pride, but the reader has the same feelings when they close the ... Their deep, open minded, philosophically rich and at the same time sensuous and lively outlook on existence are noticeable. It is this that has given their culture it s lasting quality. The growth of Greek life and art are a marvel of individualism, and at the same time the ability to look at a problem from all angles. At last, Linear did not plan to make acquisitions and it had over $1.5 million cash and short term investment in recent years. Therefore Linear should return some cash to its shareholders due to the advantages discussed above. What are the tax consequences of keeping cash inside the firm? Linear would pay the corporate tax for earnings no matter the company chose to keep the cash or give it out. And if linear offered dividend, the shareholders had to pay for the dividend tax, meaning shareholders paid double taxes. Considering the proposal raised by President George W Bush in January 2003 that the taxes of dividends can be eliminate if they were paid out of earnings that had already been taxed and the capital gain tax is still required, the shareholders would benefit from saving dividend tax as if the company decided to offer dividend. On the contrary, Humanists believe in doing good in order to make the world a better place. Overall, both Puritans and Humanists present good actions to obtain their beliefs. • 13. The Growth Of American Individuality The Growth of American Individuality in Relation to Self Expression Religion is an imperfect savior. Primitive civilizations depended on religion to explain the workings of the world; they depended on gods to protect their crops and homes from disease, drought, and other disasters far out of human control. While this dependency provided comfort, it sacrificed individuality. Recent years has seen the rise of alternative forms of media: novels, digital music, movies. These were not available to previous civilizations. Early Americans only had access to the Bible, which was unreadable to the average illiterate. Newer forms of media have spurned a nation wide reflection on the old traditions that were largely set by religion. Ever since the founding of the colonies, and ever since more diverse forms of self expression have become more accessible, Americans have grown in individuality as they have become less dependent on religion. The Puritans were the first of the Europeans to settle in the Americas. While their traditions have left a profound mark on American culture, their strict ways are rather peculiar. In The Crucible, Arthur Miller critiques Puritan society as close minded and obsessed about maintaining conformity. The parochial snobbery of these people was partly responsible for their failure to convert the Indians. Probably they also preferred to take land from heathens rather than from fellow Christians (140). The Puritans revolved their culture around religion, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Even the most cursory analysis of Letter From Birmingham Jail by Martin Luther King, Jr. and A Modest Proposal by Jonathan Swift reveals glaring differences between the two essays. In both essays, the writers address deeply entrenched social injustices. King s letter takes on a religious, almost grandiose proportion with King likening his quest for racial equality to a Christian mission: I am in Birmingham because injustice is here. Just as the eighth century prophets left their little villages...I too am compelled to carry the gospel of freedom beyond my particular hometown (1). The Relief Printmaking process is a printmaking process in which someone covers a block of material, such as wood, in ink. Then they proceed to deeply etch out the inked surface in the form of a design. Once that is done, they lay paper over the block with pressure so that the ink is shared generously all over the paper. When the paper is removed, the design will have been transferred and they will have the finished artwork. Using a block of wood is known as Woodcut Relief Printmaking, or Woodcuts . There are also Wood Engravings, where a stronger type of wood is used so an artist can engrave an image into the surface rather than cut it out. In my opinion, the second step of the process could be left to remain as the art itself. In the video showing the process as Lyell Castonguay created his piece, Hydra , I thought the design in the ink coated wood looked more bold and real than the actually piece. Weimin Deng (Tuesday Section) Debate as a Life Background History of Debate In my sophomore year of highschool, I joined the policy debate club. Policy debate was an intensive academic activity where teams of two would engage in discussions on the best government s policy to enact. There would be two teams in each debate round: affirmative or negative. The affirmative would have to propose a policy that the U.S federal government should enact based on their constructed advantages for implementation. After that speech, the negative team would have to make arguments, for examples, kritiks, disadvantages, and counterplans, to refute the implementation of the plan. Throughout an almost two hour debate round, both teams will try to speak almost 500 words per minute in order to respond to arguments. As one can imagine, debate is fast paced activity that boils down to which team can best defend their arguments. Within in this debate round, there would be a judge to decide the winner. These assessments are generally true in regards to hardware components. In many instances hardware components are subject to stiff price competition as they are often commodity like products. Innovations occur, which allows firms to charge higher prices for their product offerings. The pricing powers of these offerings are quickly eroded as competitors quickly match or exceed the competing firm s specifications. This vicious cycle occurs in many hardware components, including disk drives. Disk drives are unique as they often account for upwards of 40% of the total costs of the computer. In addition they are essential functions as they directly impact capacity and speed of the overall competing unit. Due to this priority, companies are often innovating the disk drive to either reduce costs or increase capacity. These innovations are then marketed through distribution channels that ultimately help drive revenue growth for the firm. However, due to the rapid evolution that is occurring in the industry it is difficult to have a distribution network that is dedicated or loyal to particular products. Due to rapid evolution a product in demand today, often becomes obsolete tomorrow. As such distributors must cater to all competitors to ensure the correct products are sold at the highest margins to consumers. PPCo must now create better disk drives that ... Challenges Children Face that Need to Be Addressed Children in our communities are exposed to many challenges that need to be addressed by teachers and adults in order to keep a healthy environment that promotes their development. Parents need to be aware of children s different temperaments to make socialization easier and to improve friendships and understanding. Teachers need to be aware of the developmental practices to ensure the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children. Also, they need to be aware of the risk factors that affect their school performance and their life to help them overcome their problems. The two children with a very different temperament that I am going to describe are Maria and Jose. After observing how they behave and act in different situations, I was able to know each of their temperaments. For example, Maria fears strangers, gets frustrated very easily and most of the time is fussy and moody. According to Roberta M. Berns, Maria s temperament is categorized as difficult (Berns, 2013, p. 11). Socialization is rough at home and at school for this child. Therefore, the kind of classroom and teaching style that could foster goodness of fit will be an environment with a lot of space for her to do many activities that require energy and that help her with her frustration. It is important to allow her to make some choices. As an educator, it is important for me to remember to redirect her from one place to another and communicate with her so she knows what to ... The second issue is whether there was a valid contract, a binding agreement to sell and transfer land in return for the payment of an agreed price , between Stephanie and Wangle for Sunderlandland. Conversely, in Chelsea Yacht and Boat Co Ltd v Pope the damage to the land was considered a significant factor as the Court of Appeal deemed the degree of annexation of the houseboat which was moored on the Thames to be insufficient as Tuckey LG stated: the houseboat could be moved quite easily without injury to itself or the land. However, Berkley v Poulett undermined the importance of the degree of annexation as Scarman LJ declared it may now prove nothing as, the second test, purpose of the annexation takes precedence. The purpose of annexation is judged upon whether the item has been so fixed for the better enjoyment of the object or to affecting a permanent improvement of the freehold . Leigh v Taylor corroborates Scarman as the court held that the tapestries were chattels as although they were affixed to the walls, the purpose of the annexation was for the tapestry to be enjoyed as an ornament rather than to enhance the building . The three are social learning theory, social control theory, and social reaction theory. The definition of the social learning theory is People learn through observing others behavior, attitudes, and outcomes of those behaviors. Most human behavior is learned observationally through modeling: from observing others, one forms an idea of how new behaviors are performed, and on later occasions this coded information serves as a guide for action. Two artists that greatly contributed to the De Stijl movement were Picasso and Braque. Their paintings helped in defining a vocabulary of geometric forms , while still using the elements of the real world. Another very important contributor to the De Stijl movement was Piet Mondrian. Mondrian also helped in defining the vocabulary of art and design, even further than Picasso and Braque had previously done. He used only primary colors, along with black and white, in his artwork. Mainly, all the artists of the De Stijl movement wanted their artwork to simply rely on the fundamental characteristics of having a vertical and horizontal grid. These artists hoped by using this grid, their artwork would open up space, instead of enclosing space. Gerrit Rietveld showed these same defining characteristics of the De Stijl art in his famous chair. His chair completely went against the traditional, or the expected, elements of a normal chair. • 47. The Effects Of Violence On Youth Violence Essay Introduction: Violence is everywhere and due to this notion people find ways to accept it. Violence is part of the national mythology. Meaning violence is a social construction. Violent acts cannot be wholly understood unless we examine them as but one one link in the chain of a long process of events (Schmidt Schröder 2001, 7). Violence and the responses to it are socially constructed, they are phenomena viewed and interpreted in many different ways. For example, individuals become a product of their environment. The lack of parental support, inflected by peers and their community causes youth to act out violently. Every violent experience are molded and locked into the memory of mind. Therefore the social construction of violence and the idea of memory, of recollections of violence in someone life, is crucial to creating youth violence. Psychological contract in view of ARGYRIS: One of the first writers to use the term psychological contract was ARGYRIS in 1960 who defined it as the implicit understanding between a group of employees and their foreman. He described it as: A relationship may be hypothesized to evolve between the employees and the foremen which might be called the psychological work contract . The employee will maintain high production, low grievances etc. if the foreman guarantees and respects the norms of the employee informal culture (i.e. let the employees alone, make certain they make adequate wages and have secure jobs). In other words, he was proposing that a relationship existed that potentially, had a stronger influence on employees performance and attitudes than the formal contract of employment. However, Argyris referred to the psychological contract only in passing, and Levinson et al (1962) claim to have been the father of the concept. They defined it as the unwritten contract, the sum of the mutual expectations between the organization and employee . • 49. Essay on Tell-tale Heart Literary Analysis The Tell Tale Heart A Literary Analysis Like many of Poe s other works, the Tell Tale Heart is a dark story. This particular one focuses on the events leading the death of an old man, and the events afterwards. That s the basics of it, but there are many deep meanings hidden in the three page short story. Poe uses techniques such as first person narrative, irony and style to pull off a believable sense of paranoia. In this particular story, Poe decided to write it in the first person narrative. This technique is used to get inside the main character s head and view his thoughts and are often exciting. The narrator in the Tell Tale Heart is telling the story on how he killed the old man while pleading his sanity. To quote a phrase ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Poe s economic style of writing is a key instrument in making this story amazing. In this story, he uses his style to truly bring out what he intended for the story a study of paranoia. In example, I loved the old man. He had never wronged me. He had never given me insult. For his gold I had no desire. I think it was his eye! Yes, it was this! One of his eyes resembled that of a vulture a pale blue eye with a film over it. Whenever it fell upon me my blood ran cold, and so by degrees, very gradually, I made up my mind to take the life of the old man, and thus rid myself of the eye for ever. it is easy to see that Poe used short sentences, to capture the rapid thoughts of a twisted mind. Perhaps the biggest element in this story is the use of irony, both verbally and dramatically. For verbal irony, we can see clearly at the end that what the narrator tells the officers and how he acts on the outside, (in a cool manner , as he puts it) is much different than the chaos on the inside, as in what he wants to say. He sees the police as villains and wishes them to leave, but due to the situation, he had to keep them there. The more that he assures himself of his sanity near the end of the story and the more that he thinks that he is acting coolly, eventually leads him to reveal that he is the one that killed the old man after all. As for dramatic irony, since we know that the narrator is the one that killed the old man, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
