Socialization And Immigrants During The Gilded Age
The Gilded Age was a time period in the history of the United States in which a large number of
serious social problems rose about. In the North and the West especially, this was also a time of rapid
growth. During this time, a lot of immigrants came to the United States as well. To them, America was
seen as the land of opportunity. In their home countries, the working conditions were terrible and they
had very low wages, so they came to America in hopes of a better life. Little did they know, the United
States was not much better for them. Although, with a large amount of workers now in the United
States, some skilled and others unskilled, it allowed industry to expand and consolidate. During the
Gilded Age, industry expanded and became stronger over time, resulting in workers coming together
and organizing themselves into unions and forcing the federal government to step away from
practicing laissez faire capitalism.
This time period really began when a new type of business organization came about. People, called
entrepreneurs, would start their own business and use large scale production with the end goal of
lowering the prices of goods and allowing them to make a huge profit on it. Some people during this
time would call these entrepreneurs robber barons because of the the low wages that they paid their
workers in combination with their terrible tactics to destroy their competition. Many business owners
were also philanthropists. These were the people that donated the money that they made to good
causes. One person who is an example of this is Andrew Carnegie, who supported the ideas of the
Gospel of Wealth and believed that the more fortunate and wealthy people had the responsibility of
giving back to society. Some of these business owners were accused of having a monopoly, which is
having complete control over the supply of a product or service. Overall, this industrialization lead to
more goods at a faster rate, which greatly contributed to the rise of big businesses. These businesses
lead to a greater profit, which lead to bigger business, which eventually lead to corporations.
Industry also expanded and came together in terms of economic practices. For example, one type of
economic practice was a

Compare And Contrast Juir 3 And Juror 8
This play by Reginald Rose was very dramatic. In this courtroom, there was a case about a young man
that is guilty or innocent of murdering his father. This case consisted of a group of twelve jurors.
These twelve jurors had so much about themselves that was alike and in some ways they were all
different.
In this case, the juror 3 and juror 8 are very different. Juror 3 appears to be a very intolerant person
also he is known as a bully. On the other hand juror, 8 is an open minded individual that always listens
to someone before speaking his part in something. Juror 3 also believes whatever I say I m always
right and nobody could correct me or tell me something that proves him wrong. For example, What s

A Research On Telehealth And Telemedicine Is A Tool For...
Telehealth Consultation Telehealth is becoming a widely used tool for seeking medical care, or
consultation. The world of technology we live in is ever growing, making healthcare easily accessible
through telehealth. While many different organizations define telehealth using different words, they all
have the same idea. I found in my research that telehealth and telemedicine are defined differently.
Definition
Per the healthit.gov website, telehealth is different from telemedicine, because it refers to a broader
scope of remote healthcare services than telemedicine. While telemedicine refers specifically to
remote clinical services, telehealth can refer to remote non clinical services, such as provider training,
administrative meetings, and continuing medical education, in addition to clinical services. According
to healthit.gov, the Health Resources Services Administration defines telehealth as the use of
electronic information and telecommunications technologies to support long distance clinical health
care, patient and professional health related education, public health and health administration.
Medicare defines it as Telehealth (or Telemonitoring) is the use of telecommunications and
information technology to provide access to health assessment, diagnosis, intervention, consultation,
supervision and information across distance.

Path Toward Success
Assignment Title: Path Toward Success Word Count: 2,039 The era of the 21st century brings many
changes in the lifestyle. Immense range of new and innovative ways of living take part in everyday
operations, which lead to increased expectations and experiences from the people, especially in
hospitality sector. It is important for the companies to adopt the modernizations in order to stay ahead
in the business. Today people seek for luxury, high value and comfort. If these needs are not met, the

Li Jen amp; Lockwood (2006) suggest that listening and recognizing of employees preferences and
wants is an important practice for the employee retention. In addition, attention directed towards
developing the skills and knowledge, as well as adding more and different tasks, contribute to the
expectations of the people in workplace. Baruch (2004) advocates that for an individual having the
element of multi options at the disposal, promotes a successful career path. The discussed essentials
were mainly autonomy, independence, and a healthy balance between life and work. In addition,
HayGroup (2001, as cited in Bharwani amp; Butt, 2012) state that tangible rewards largely contribute
towards the employee engagement. If the employer is able to offer recognition in terms of salary or
bonuses, people are more likely to be attracted to stay. It is further suggested that leadership and the
way in which it is presented to the employee, plays an important role in maintaining the employee s
loyalty. Professional development and continuous learning is an element that contributes to the
employee satisfaction. Littlejohn amp; Watson (2004) explain that the scheme of training and

Drunken Driving Accidents And The Biggest Party Of The Year
Introduction It was the end of the biggest party of the year. Everyone is leaving now, man did we have
a blast. I m getting into my car now about to head home proud of myself because I promised my
mother I would not drink tonight. As I pulled onto the road a red car hit me head on. I must have
blacked out because I am lying on the ground and all I can hear are the police, paramedics and sirens
all around me. Then I think I heard one of them say, the guy who hit her was drunk. As I lay in this
pool of blood all of it belonging to me the guy who hit me is fine all he had was minor cuts and
bruises. He is now handcuffed walking to the police cruiser staring at me lying here dying, all of this
his fault. As I m taking my last breaths I m wondering why I am lying here dying and I wasn t the one
drinking and driving.
ALCOHOLISM
Drunken driving accidents are one of the leading causes of death of teens. Whether they are the driver
or just in the car with someone. Alcoholism plays a big role in this. With it being a chronic and
progressive disease there can be many different symptoms, causes, and risk factors and complications
that can be associated with alcoholism. It can include difficulty regulating how much alcohol you
drink. Also having many problems in life because of continuous drinking and getting drunk. If you

Postconventional Schema
Appendix 1 see James Rest (1974), for the Defining Issues Test. This test has been devised under the
influence of Lawrence Kohlberg s moral reasoning stages, uses a Likert scale to give quantitative
ratings and rankings of issues of five moral dilemmas. The scale constitutes of 12 issues that are to be
rated in terms of importance to the corresponding dilemma and then rank the four most important
issues. The respondent will either score on three specific schemas of moral reasoning: Personal
Interests, Maintaining Norms, and the Post conventional Schema. When a respondent reads an issue
statement that both makes sense to them, as well as triggers a preferred schema, that statement is given
a high rating and ranking. Conversely, when a respondent reads an issue statement that is either
construed as nonsensical ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Maintaining Norms Schema is considered more advanced than the Personal Interests Schema, as
it emphasizes more than the individual. At the Maintaining Norms reasoning level, law and authority
are important, as each of these helps to uphold social order, which is paramount to this schema. So, a
respondent who is predominantly using this schema will take into consideration what needs to be done
in order to be compliant with the social order of society. Finally, the Postconventional Schema is
regarded as the most developmentally advanced. At the Postconventional reasoning level, laws are not
simply blindly accepted (as with the Maintaining Norms Schema), but are scrutinized in order to
ensure society wide benefit. So, a respondent who is primarily using this schema will focus on what is
best for society as a whole. For example, the Civil Rights movement was a product of
Postconventional reasoning, as followers were most concerned with the society wide effects of
(in)equality. It should be noted that, though an individual may rely more heavily on one of the
aforementioned schemas, moral reasoning is typically informed, to varying degrees, by each of

Persuasive Essay On Family Vacation
Approximately 33% or a third of all families in the United States will go on a family vacation this
year. Family vacations when you break it down is entirely for the parents. Parents and their children
are stressed during the school year, whether it s providing for the family or homework. Family
vacations may be stress reducing or enhancing depending on where you go, who you re going with,
and why you re going. Where you go can influence how your trip will be. If you go to an amusement
park, such as Disneyland, you should expect to have some enhancement of stress due to lines, prices,
or poor weather. However, if you are one of the individuals that get all sun and no lines, then you
might enjoy yourselves. If you are traveling to a relative s house or town, you may feel more relaxed if
you like said relatives. However, if you have too many relatives or don t like said relatives, you may
become even more stressed than before you left. If you travel to another state or outside the country
you are more likely to be relaxed if you go to your native language speaking country or region. My
family has traveled outside of our home multiple times before, and we have even lived in a whole
other continent, with different cultures and scenes, in Singapore. From Singapore, you have a wider
range of places to go for cheaper than in the United States. My favorite places to travel have been
New Zealand and the Philippines so far. When my family travels for fun, most of the time we end up
enjoying ourselves if it s planned well. The major problem with traveling outside of the country, and
even states, is the time difference. Jetlag, or time difference, is when your body is accustomed to your
home s time zone and when you travel and there is a time difference your body does not adjust for
what experts say one day for every hour difference. Compared to Texas the Philippines has a fourteen
hour time difference, and New Zealand has a nineteen hour time difference. Jetlag can also affect your
overall enjoyment of a family vacation because you have to be awake and not irritable in order to have
fun. On the other hand, vacationing is not about where you go, but who you go with. People who
vacation have a multitude of reasons to do

Technology Should Not Be In Schools Research Paper
Technology should not be in school s Now a day s kids have the power to find out anything in

men, yet the people aren t getting any smarter with all that information. Entertainment used to be a

Driving Under Influence
Under Influence
According to cdc.gov teens are 17 times more likely to die in a car crash when they have a blood
alcohol concentration of .08% than then when they have not been drinking. Drinking and driving is a
problem amongst teens. One of the leading causes of death for teens is car accidents. When teens
drink they are at a bigger risk of getting in an accident. This has been a problem for teens for many
years and will continue to be a problem if teens are not aware of the negative effects. Austin Hill,18,
was driving drunk one night down a residential area when he hit a 15 year old driver who was ejected
from the car and was later pronounced dead. Austin was traveling 119 miles per hour when he hit the

Everyone hates to see their parents fight and don t like being in the middle of it. Some teens feel the
need to drink because it s a way out of their sticky situations. Parents need to pay more attention to
their kids and they need to realize that their kids are watching them and following in their footsteps. If
a teen has a parent who is a drinker they have a greater chance of becoming a drinker. Alcohol causes
people to be unaware of their surrounding and causes people to make bad choices.
Lastly, drinking and driving is still a problem because of the negative effects it causes on teens. If you
get caught drinking and driving it s a major setback in your life whether it s because you got pulled
over by a police officer or got in a automobile accident. Drinking and driving can cost you a big ticket
and in more extreme cases even your life. There is no good reason to drink and drive when your life is
on the line because you re not just hurting yourself but the people who care about you are hurt too.
Research has shown that the amount of teens who drink and drive now, have reduced by 54% since 30
years ago. So teens in this day and age are more aware of the negative outcomes and refrain from
making bad decisions. Also, the laws are more strict about drinking than they were 30 years

here wanted to link the word to the drugs, so he or she changed the ordinary meaning of companion

one step further. What if we put those smiling, happy, well dressed couples down, in the drug taking
part, and instead the marginalized teenagers up? Probably it would still look odd, since the Italian
government, which acts from the white perspective, would warn people not to take drugs (but the
people portrayed do not look like druggie so bad companions to be abandoned, do they? They are still
white, well dressed, good looking people) and at the same time it would encourage the reader/receiver
to get engaged and create families, by showing multi ethnical couples. This is the shift of the meaning
that would probably be perceived, but as the image clearly shows this is not the case. The black is still
bad, the white is still good. The reader/receiver is here exposed to one of the current form of racial

Roe vs Wade
In 1973, the Supreme Court made a decision in one of the most controversial cases in history, the case
of Roe v. Wade (410 U.S. 113 (1973)), in which abortion was legalized and state anti abortion statues
were struck down for being unconstitutional. This essay will provide a brief history and analysis of the
issues of this case for both the woman s rights and the states interest in the matter. Also, this essay will
address the basis for the court ruling in Roe s favor and the effects this decision has had on subsequent
cases involving a woman s right to choose abortion in the United States. The court s decision created
legal precedent for several subsequent abortion restriction cases and has led to the development of
legislation to protect women s health rights. Although the Supreme Court s decision in Roe v. Wade
was a historic victory for women s rights, it is still an extremely controversial subject today and
continues to be challenged by various groups. Roe v. Wade Case Law Analysis Before 1973, abortion
access was determined by state legislature for each individual state with no consistency across the

slavery that is being referred to here is sex trafficking. It is all around the world. Many do not realize
that it is happening in their own community. It is happening right here in Saginaw, Michigan. It is
categorized with prostitution, but prostitution alone is more of a choice and sex trafficking is forced
prostitution. Although the women and men involved are called prostitutes, they are not doing it to
make money for themselves. They are forced to do it through their pimps which are the individuals in
charge of the prostitution business. Forced sex slavery is in correlation with physical, mental, and
emotional abuse. What if prostitution was legal? A woman would be able to be a prostitute if she
wanted. She could do whatever she wants with her body without the consequence of being arrested.
Although, it would be harder to identify if the woman was doing it because she wanted to or doing it
because she was forced by a sex trafficker. Would prostitution legalization affect the amount of sex
trafficking that is already occurring? If people are educated on sex trafficking and what the signs of it
are, we may be able to help those in need. It can also be

Language barriers could play a big part in a staff member understanding what they are hearing or

It relies heavily on the key individual
The responses may be biased
It may be difficult to find the right person to talk to
Observation is an effective way of assessing people s behaviour in their working environment, this

A disadvantage of this is that some people s behaviour alters if they know they are being observed.

Year Round School Pros And Cons
Do you believe year round schooling should become a social norm and overtake regular schooling?
Most think it should not; my reasearch shows the cons, negatives, and disadvantages of year round
schooling. Year round schooling: makes schools lose money, makes students miss out on important
opportunities, and makes scheduling difficult. There is no guarantee that students who participate in
year round schooling do better than students who participate in regular schooling. We should not have
year round schooling because it hampers the student. Some fail to realize the financial negatives year
round schooling brings. After school activities and extracurricular activities may get dropped in order
to finance year round schools depending on budgets. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Most new teachers do training during the Summer before the new school year begins; but with year
round schooling, teachers need to find different forms of Summer training. Year round schooling
summers aren t long enough for some students when compared to regular schooling summers. Some
students may not be able to handle the longer periods of time. Students may even struggle to stay
focused in the classroom.
Year round schooling even brings Summer break difficulties, given the seemingly endless school year.
If students are still in school over the Summer, it s difficult for parents to schedule meaningful family
time. Students are even missing out on unique, important learning opportunities. Missing out on
experiences and lessons you can t get in a classroom. Summer break is the main relief teachers have
after an intense school year. People also fail to realize the schooling difficulties year round schooling
brings. It eliminates the idea of a single class using a classroom and class sizes would be longer and
larger. Special accommodations would need to be made for graduation and parent teachers
conferences due to different scheduling. Additional demands would need to be required on school
support staff such as: janitors, cafeteria workers, security, etc. Schools would lose money on gas and
electric bills because they would be open

Nursing Home Case Study
The duty of nursing homes is to exercise that degree of care, skill and diligence used by nursing
homes in the community. A nursing home does not have to apply the same standard care as a hospital.
Consequently, what is considered negligence in a hospital does not necessary mean it apply to a
nursing home. The duty of a nursing homes depend upon the patient s condition. The patient s
physical and mental ability is determined by the court (Alcoy v Valley Nursing Homes, Inc., 272 S E
2d 301 (Sup. Ct., Va. 2006). Although treatment of a patient is the physician responsibility, a nursing
home can be held liability for transferring a patient that require special precautions to a hospital
without informing the hospital of the special supervision. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Deerings West Nursing Center v. Scott, a nursing home was found liable for an assault performed
by a unlicensed aide with a criminal background on a elderly visitor. Under the doctrine of negligent,
the only negligence was the employer fail to do a criminal background, and thereby, causing harm to
others (Mangolis, 1995).
When a nursing home resident is not capable of providing care for themselves, the nursing home is
obligated to supervise care and protect the patients from physical dangerous that may either cause
harm to self or others (Mangolis, 1995).
The administrator also stated the nursing home was failed to protect the resident from assault. In
assault cases, the court looked to see if the nursing documented anything pertaining to the patient s
assailant. The nursing home had no knowledge of the assailant s violent propensities, so the court look

Designing The Cd Package Design
CD Package Design
I was inspired by watercolor portraits and CD packaging designs from other students. I decided to
incorporate this idea into the CD package design. Throughout the CD Package, I added a faded
textured in the background of the design. Within the background on the back panel, I added a
transparent photograph of a cricket to keep consistent with the title of the album name. Then, added
paint splatters and rendered them to make the model as a recognizable subject for the cover. In
addition, I added the song titles and an excerpt inside the front sleeve of the cover. Furthermore, I used
three colors: cerulean blue, chartreuse green, and indigo purple throughout the project. Lastly, I added
a barcode, a record label logo, and fictitious information to make the entire CD package look realistic.
Typography Calendars
For the month of May, I created a calendar page using Franklin Gothic typeface and added different
shades of green and a beige color for the background in the calendar. I expanded the word May and
composed the days of the month and weeks into the word itself. I also included the history of Franklin
Gothic and added Franklin Gothic at the bottom of the composition. Lastly, I added 2015 on top of the
bottom base to complete the calendar.
For the month of October, I used the font Times New Roman and used different shades of the color
red throughout the whole calendar. Instead of using a standard calendar outline, I decided to add the
days,

Education in Fredrick Douglass

The Irony of Education in Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass
The power of education in Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass is one of the most important
themes in the entire work, but it is not a theme with a consistent meaning. Although Frederick
Douglass understands that the only path to freedom, both for himself and fellow slaves, is through
learning to read, write, and have an educational base to build on, he is at the same time disgusted with
education because it causes him to understand the full extent of the horrors of slavery. At one point, he
states, It [education] opened my eyes to the horrible pit, but offered no ladder upon ... Show more

It proved to be true and is played out as Douglass finally acts out violently. It is by far in the best
interest of the slave owner to keep the slaves ignorant of concepts of freedom or education because it
might not only make them wistful, and thoughtful, but by proxy, less useful to them as slaves. In order
to keep slavery as a stable institution, it was important for many of the slave owners in the text to
make educating a slave something that could be punished. Well meaning slave owners were heavily
criticized for assisting a slave in his or her education and the fact that it was illegal to teach a slave to
read indicates the danger the white slave owning establishment sees as inherent to education. In other
words, by their fierce protection of the practices of education, the slave owners were admitting that
through education there is some kind of freedom, some way of circumventing their absolute power.
Frederick Douglass became the most successful abolitionist who changed America s views of slavery
through his writings and actions. Frederick Douglass had many achievements throughout his life. His
Life as a slave had a great impact on his writings. His great oratory skills left the largest impact on
Civil War time period literature. Overall, he was the best black speaker and writer ever. Illiteracy was
an instrumental tool used to deprive slaves in an attempt to keep them ignorant and manageable during

The Media And Its Portrayal Of Athletes
According to Knight and Giuliano s 2001 article, gender equality has been and will remain a current
topic of hot discussion in the media and its portrayal of athletes. Athletes have a unique ability to
deliver their thoughts and information to the masses through the media outlets given to them in regard
to their social status. Once the media has heard what the athletes have to say it can be at the media s
hand for interpretation. In this specific study 92 undergraduates were given a fake newspaper that
covered an Olympian with the main focus being on attractiveness. The study covered male and female
athletes in the newspaper article while focusing predominantly on attractiveness. Results show that the
readers not only disliked the attraction focus, but also preferred the reading be more focused on the
athleticism of the Olympians. The largest take away from the study is the media and its coverage or
portrayal of athletes being geared towards athletic achievement over quality of appearance In Riebock
and Bae s 2013 literature review they discuss the differences in men and women athletes body
perception in the media. To get their results they used multiple questionnaires that revolved around
questions dealing with body shame, self objectification and their appearance goal. Their conclusion
said grade level and ethnicity do not play a significant role in the effects of the media on body
perceptions (Riebock Bae, 2013). However, what does play a role is gender. Women are in

The Is Not Real And The World
In an ideal world, people would get along and live in peace. Unfortunately, this idea is not real and the
world is full of different forms of hate and discrimination. People are discriminated against based on
various things like race, religion, and sex. The Transgender community faces one of the highest
amounts of discrimination. This includes things like using a public restroom, going to a doctor s
office, insurance coverage, workplace, and traveling. First, utilizing public restrooms are a major
problem for transitioning individuals. In many states, like Kentucky, there have been numerous
attempts to pass laws that would force these individuals to use the bathroom that reflects the gender on
their birth certificate, which usually states the gender assigned at birth. This is a form of
discrimination due to the fact it would single out Trans individuals making them targets. It can be
assumed no one is going to bother a cisgender individual only those, they suspect of being
transgendered. For example, a transwoman who is just a few months into her hormones and has not
received Sexual Reassignment Surgery going into the women s restroom in a Walmart is stopped by
security and asked to prove her identity using her Identification that still says male. She will then be
charged for using the wrong restroom and forced to go to the boys bathroom where she has an
increased chance of being involved in a hate crime or sexual assault. This action is like painting a sign

In the recent film Bowling for Columbine, Michael Moore claims that fear drives people to violence; a
short animation clip is also used by Michael Moore to depict the history of the United States in the
documentary. The animation brought out a number of issues that set people thinking. Issues on race,
fear and violence are also discussed in the documentary (as well as the interview of Oprah Winfrey

violence. The discrimination of the blacks in America is also discussed in the film. Having watched

If you re not going to protect your family, who is? .
Self obsession is one of the issues that were discussed in the interview of Oprah Winfrey and Michael
Moore. It appears to me that people have forgotten how to talk things out peacefully anymore, it is
also frightening to realise that that almost all of the citizens in America owned a personal gun. Is
violence the best way of defence? The culture of possessing a gun just goes to prove how insecure
they are in their country. The reason for the possession of a gun most people had was due to self
defence. However, in the case of the killings that had occurred within Columbine high school, as far as
I know, the students owned the guns and had planned the mass killings ahead of times, they told their
friends about the idea of mass murder, but nobody took them seriously. The impression of getting a
free rifle with a new bank account I have is that people treated guns like they were toys, and it felt as
if people owned guns for the sake of having one. If more guns made people safer then America would
be one of the safest countries in the world, but it isn t, it s the opposite.
In addition, the interview of Oprah Winfrey with Michael Moore shows what a huge impact the
documentary had on its viewers. It opened up all sorts of controversy and sets people thinking about
why we have so much anger and violence. It

Judicial Selection Process
Introduction In the United States, each state has its own rules and laws that govern for the citizens
residing in the particular state. Then there are laws that the country has that every United States
resident has to follow and abide by. The same goes for those in official roles such as police officers,
lawyers, judges etc. In this body of work, the topic of Judicial Selection Process will be examined.
The court types, the qualifications that judges need to meet, as well as the election process for the
individuals who want to serve as an official for the states discussed. Keywords: judges, elections,

Stages of Economic Reform in China
China had gone through a major reformation that is called Socialism with Chinese characteristics that
started in late 1978, sparked by a very influential politician and leader, Deng Xiaoping. The
reformation is carried out in different stages. It is very important to understand these stages, as each
stage is the prerequisite for China to move to another stage. Large scale of government planning is
heavily involved throughout the reformation. Despite having to go through financial crisis couple of
times, globally and throughout Asia, China seemed to respond quickly and effectively to handle these
difficult situations. As of today, China remains as an admiration and aspiration for not only countries
in Asia, but also around the world. According to Tian (1996), there are three stages of economic
reform in China. The first stage is characterized by economic liberalization. This stage was said to be
the most remarkable stage as it has greatly changed the Chinese people s values, thinking and
behavior. The changes were first introduced to people in rural areas and later to other industries and
geographic areas. The first stage involved a lot of efforts to the development of foreign trade. China
began to adopt decentralized decision making and various types of incentive mechanisms. China has
been using its abundant supply of labor effectively since then. The second stage of the economic
reform is described by marketization. This stage can only be carried out effectively only

International Industry Analysis Porter s Five Forces
2.3 Inter Industry Analysis Porter s Five Forces
The Strategic fit approach to management, describes that the prospect of profitability depends largely
on the firm positioning itself in an attractive industry the attractiveness and therefore profitability is
said to depend upon how competitive the industry is, a highly competitive industry is less attractive
and less profitable than an industry where the competition is less intense. (www.netmba.com)
According to Porter s Five Forces Framework attractiveness and profitability depends upon five
elements of industry structure and how they interact determining the intensity of the competition
within the industry (Michael Porter, Competitive Strategy: Techniques for analysing industries and
competitors). Included in this chapter is an explanation of the Five Forces and how they each affect
Eurocity.
2.3.1 Rivalry amongst existing firms
Porter described that intense industrial rivalry can lead to higher costs; lower prices and therefore
lower profitability. As there are a large number of competitors with little ability to differentiate their
product, the market can be seen as very competitive and therefore unattractive. However, there are
some compensating factors; such as, an applicant must give his permission to companies who wish to
submit their CV and in return the applicant has to confirm that no other company will submit them for
the position. This means that applicants should not be submitted by numerous

Fundamental Differences Between Strong Mayor And...
Discuss the fundamental differences between weak mayor, strong mayor and council manager forms
of government. In the United States of America, there are two forms of government that most cities
adhere to, Mayor Council and Council Manager. However, there is a third form of government that a
smaller few adhere to call the commission. Moreover, approximately 59% of the cities in the United
States utilize the Council Manager form of government; conversely 33% utilize the Mayor Council
form of government, which means the remaining 8% more than likely utilize the commission form of
government. Council Manager Government In the State of Texas, the Council Manager form of
government is preferred by all of the major cities, except for Houston who prefer the Mayor Council
form of government. Under the Council Manager form of government, the voters are at the top of the
hierarchical structure. In this capacity, the voters elect a small City Council, including a mayor, who is
the presiding officer over the City Council. Although the Mayor is symbolically the Head of State , he
or she is not the head of government. The Mayor and City Council have the authority to appoint four
of the city s government officials: the City Manager, the City Attorney, the City Clerk and the
Municipal Judge (some cities elect this position). Moreover, although weak in this form of
government, the Mayor has a vote on many issues impacting the city; however, lacks any type of veto
authority (except in a few cities), which means that laws are passed by on a majority rule voting
system of the total City Council Members, meaning all City Council Members must vote in order to
pass a law. Most importantly, the Mayor and City Council primary role lies in the establishment of a
strategic vision for the city. Once this is accomplished, the Mayor and the City Council are responsible
for generating a strong mission statement that aligns with a set of clear goals, resulting in effective
government policy guidance for execution by the City Manager to run the city. Collectively, the
Mayor and City Council hire the City Manager who has full management authority, to execute the
Mayor s and City Council s vision for the city. However, a City

The Ship Poem
Within The Ship Starting, there are three notable instances of repetition. For one, the word ship occurs
three times (including in the title). Given that ships are the topic of interest in the poem, this instance
of repetition has the basic effect of bringing the locus of the text back to the title, or central theme. The
second example can be observed in the second and third lines, where the word sails is followed by
moonsails, a made up compound version of the former word. Using the same word twice, and in this
case, by adding on and modifying its second appearance, the reader is likely to acquire a clear picture
of the scene that Whitman lays out in the poem. Emphasizing the image of the ship s sails by
preceding the words with diction such as all and even attributes the sails to a sense of abundance or
freedom. The third instance of repetition occurs in line four, where she speeds she speeds is used to
describe the motions that the ship is making. Whereas it would be considered grammatically correct to
include a comma after the first mention of she speeds, leaving it out better reflects the content of the
poem: she speeds she speeds gives the impression of a ship slicing through the water quickly. In many
cases, using the same word twice in a row takes away from a text s message, but in The Ship Starting,
this repetition instead works in Whitman s favor by supporting the visual imagery he seeks to create.
Walt Whitman s The Ship Starting is a poem that

  • 2. Socialization And Immigrants During The Gilded Age The Gilded Age was a time period in the history of the United States in which a large number of serious social problems rose about. In the North and the West especially, this was also a time of rapid growth. During this time, a lot of immigrants came to the United States as well. To them, America was seen as the land of opportunity. In their home countries, the working conditions were terrible and they had very low wages, so they came to America in hopes of a better life. Little did they know, the United States was not much better for them. Although, with a large amount of workers now in the United States, some skilled and others unskilled, it allowed industry to expand and consolidate. During the Gilded Age, industry expanded and became stronger over time, resulting in workers coming together and organizing themselves into unions and forcing the federal government to step away from practicing laissez faire capitalism. This time period really began when a new type of business organization came about. People, called entrepreneurs, would start their own business and use large scale production with the end goal of lowering the prices of goods and allowing them to make a huge profit on it. Some people during this time would call these entrepreneurs robber barons because of the the low wages that they paid their workers in combination with their terrible tactics to destroy their competition. Many business owners were also philanthropists. These were the people that donated the money that they made to good causes. One person who is an example of this is Andrew Carnegie, who supported the ideas of the Gospel of Wealth and believed that the more fortunate and wealthy people had the responsibility of giving back to society. Some of these business owners were accused of having a monopoly, which is having complete control over the supply of a product or service. Overall, this industrialization lead to more goods at a faster rate, which greatly contributed to the rise of big businesses. These businesses lead to a greater profit, which lead to bigger business, which eventually lead to corporations. Industry also expanded and came together in terms of economic practices. For example, one type of economic practice was a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Compare And Contrast Juir 3 And Juror 8 This play by Reginald Rose was very dramatic. In this courtroom, there was a case about a young man that is guilty or innocent of murdering his father. This case consisted of a group of twelve jurors. These twelve jurors had so much about themselves that was alike and in some ways they were all different. In this case, the juror 3 and juror 8 are very different. Juror 3 appears to be a very intolerant person also he is known as a bully. On the other hand juror, 8 is an open minded individual that always listens to someone before speaking his part in something. Juror 3 also believes whatever I say I m always right and nobody could correct me or tell me something that proves him wrong. For example, What s the *matter* with you guys? You all ... • 4. A Research On Telehealth And Telemedicine Is A Tool For... Telehealth Consultation Telehealth is becoming a widely used tool for seeking medical care, or consultation. The world of technology we live in is ever growing, making healthcare easily accessible through telehealth. While many different organizations define telehealth using different words, they all have the same idea. I found in my research that telehealth and telemedicine are defined differently. Definition Per the healthit.gov website, telehealth is different from telemedicine, because it refers to a broader scope of remote healthcare services than telemedicine. While telemedicine refers specifically to remote clinical services, telehealth can refer to remote non clinical services, such as provider training, administrative meetings, and continuing medical education, in addition to clinical services. According to healthit.gov, the Health Resources Services Administration defines telehealth as the use of electronic information and telecommunications technologies to support long distance clinical health care, patient and professional health related education, public health and health administration. Medicare defines it as Telehealth (or Telemonitoring) is the use of telecommunications and information technology to provide access to health assessment, diagnosis, intervention, consultation, supervision and information across distance. I m getting into my car now about to head home proud of myself because I promised my mother I would not drink tonight. As I pulled onto the road a red car hit me head on. I must have blacked out because I am lying on the ground and all I can hear are the police, paramedics and sirens all around me. Then I think I heard one of them say, the guy who hit her was drunk. As I lay in this pool of blood all of it belonging to me the guy who hit me is fine all he had was minor cuts and bruises. He is now handcuffed walking to the police cruiser staring at me lying here dying, all of this his fault. • 9. Postconventional Schema Appendix 1 see James Rest (1974), for the Defining Issues Test. This test has been devised under the influence of Lawrence Kohlberg s moral reasoning stages, uses a Likert scale to give quantitative ratings and rankings of issues of five moral dilemmas. The scale constitutes of 12 issues that are to be rated in terms of importance to the corresponding dilemma and then rank the four most important issues. The respondent will either score on three specific schemas of moral reasoning: Personal Interests, Maintaining Norms, and the Post conventional Schema. When a respondent reads an issue statement that both makes sense to them, as well as triggers a preferred schema, that statement is given a high rating and ranking. Conversely, when a respondent reads an issue statement that is either construed as nonsensical ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Maintaining Norms Schema is considered more advanced than the Personal Interests Schema, as it emphasizes more than the individual. At the Maintaining Norms reasoning level, law and authority are important, as each of these helps to uphold social order, which is paramount to this schema. So, a respondent who is predominantly using this schema will take into consideration what needs to be done in order to be compliant with the social order of society. Finally, the Postconventional Schema is regarded as the most developmentally advanced. At the Postconventional reasoning level, laws are not simply blindly accepted (as with the Maintaining Norms Schema), but are scrutinized in order to ensure society wide benefit. So, a respondent who is primarily using this schema will focus on what is best for society as a whole. For example, the Civil Rights movement was a product of Postconventional reasoning, as followers were most concerned with the society wide effects of (in)equality. It should be noted that, though an individual may rely more heavily on one of the aforementioned schemas, moral reasoning is typically informed, to varying degrees, by each of ... • 10. Persuasive Essay On Family Vacation Approximately 33% or a third of all families in the United States will go on a family vacation this year. Family vacations when you break it down is entirely for the parents. Parents and their children are stressed during the school year, whether it s providing for the family or homework. Family vacations may be stress reducing or enhancing depending on where you go, who you re going with, and why you re going. Where you go can influence how your trip will be. If you go to an amusement park, such as Disneyland, you should expect to have some enhancement of stress due to lines, prices, or poor weather. However, if you are one of the individuals that get all sun and no lines, then you might enjoy yourselves. If you are traveling to a relative s house or town, you may feel more relaxed if you like said relatives. However, if you have too many relatives or don t like said relatives, you may become even more stressed than before you left. If you travel to another state or outside the country you are more likely to be relaxed if you go to your native language speaking country or region. My family has traveled outside of our home multiple times before, and we have even lived in a whole other continent, with different cultures and scenes, in Singapore. From Singapore, you have a wider range of places to go for cheaper than in the United States. My favorite places to travel have been New Zealand and the Philippines so far. When my family travels for fun, most of the time we end up enjoying ourselves if it s planned well. The major problem with traveling outside of the country, and even states, is the time difference. Jetlag, or time difference, is when your body is accustomed to your home s time zone and when you travel and there is a time difference your body does not adjust for what experts say one day for every hour difference. Compared to Texas the Philippines has a fourteen hour time difference, and New Zealand has a nineteen hour time difference. Jetlag can also affect your overall enjoyment of a family vacation because you have to be awake and not irritable in order to have fun. On the other hand, vacationing is not about where you go, but who you go with. People who vacation have a multitude of reasons to do ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It is by far in the best interest of the slave owner to keep the slaves ignorant of concepts of freedom or education because it might not only make them wistful, and thoughtful, but by proxy, less useful to them as slaves. In order to keep slavery as a stable institution, it was important for many of the slave owners in the text to make educating a slave something that could be punished. Well meaning slave owners were heavily criticized for assisting a slave in his or her education and the fact that it was illegal to teach a slave to read indicates the danger the white slave owning establishment sees as inherent to education. Once the media has heard what the athletes have to say it can be at the media s hand for interpretation. In this specific study 92 undergraduates were given a fake newspaper that covered an Olympian with the main focus being on attractiveness. The reformation is carried out in different stages. It is very important to understand these stages, as each stage is the prerequisite for China to move to another stage. Large scale of government planning is heavily involved throughout the reformation. Despite having to go through financial crisis couple of times, globally and throughout Asia, China seemed to respond quickly and effectively to handle these difficult situations. As of today, China remains as an admiration and aspiration for not only countries in Asia, but also around the world. According to Tian (1996), there are three stages of economic reform in China. The first stage is characterized by economic liberalization. This stage was said to be the most remarkable stage as it has greatly changed the Chinese people s values, thinking and behavior. The changes were first introduced to people in rural areas and later to other industries and geographic areas. The first stage involved a lot of efforts to the development of foreign trade. China began to adopt decentralized decision making and various types of incentive mechanisms. China has been using its abundant supply of labor effectively since then. The second stage of the economic reform is described by marketization. This stage can only be carried out effectively only ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

(www.netmba.com) According to Porter s Five Forces Framework attractiveness and profitability depends upon five elements of industry structure and how they interact determining the intensity of the competition within the industry (Michael Porter, Competitive Strategy: Techniques for analysing industries and competitors). Included in this chapter is an explanation of the Five Forces and how they each affect Eurocity. 2.3.1 Rivalry amongst existing firms Porter described that intense industrial rivalry can lead to higher costs; lower prices and therefore lower profitability. As there are a large number of competitors with little ability to differentiate their product, the market can be seen as very competitive and therefore unattractive. However, there are some compensating factors; such as, an applicant must give his permission to companies who wish to submit their CV and in return the applicant has to confirm that no other company will submit them for the position. • 36. Fundamental Differences Between Strong Mayor And... Discuss the fundamental differences between weak mayor, strong mayor and council manager forms of government. In the United States of America, there are two forms of government that most cities adhere to, Mayor Council and Council Manager. However, there is a third form of government that a smaller few adhere to call the commission. Moreover, approximately 59% of the cities in the United States utilize the Council Manager form of government; conversely 33% utilize the Mayor Council form of government, which means the remaining 8% more than likely utilize the commission form of government. Council Manager Government In the State of Texas, the Council Manager form of government is preferred by all of the major cities, except for Houston who prefer the Mayor Council form of government. Under the Council Manager form of government, the voters are at the top of the hierarchical structure. In this capacity, the voters elect a small City Council, including a mayor, who is the presiding officer over the City Council. Although the Mayor is symbolically the Head of State , he or she is not the head of government. The Mayor and City Council have the authority to appoint four of the city s government officials: the City Manager, the City Attorney, the City Clerk and the Municipal Judge (some cities elect this position). Moreover, although weak in this form of government, the Mayor has a vote on many issues impacting the city; however, lacks any type of veto authority (except in a few cities), which means that laws are passed by on a majority rule voting system of the total City Council Members, meaning all City Council Members must vote in order to pass a law. Most importantly, the Mayor and City Council primary role lies in the establishment of a strategic vision for the city. Once this is accomplished, the Mayor and the City Council are responsible for generating a strong mission statement that aligns with a set of clear goals, resulting in effective government policy guidance for execution by the City Manager to run the city. Collectively, the Mayor and City Council hire the City Manager who has full management authority, to execute the Mayor s and City Council s vision for the city. However, a City ... • 37. The Ship Poem Within The Ship Starting, there are three notable instances of repetition. For one, the word ship occurs three times (including in the title). Given that ships are the topic of interest in the poem, this instance of repetition has the basic effect of bringing the locus of the text back to the title, or central theme. The second example can be observed in the second and third lines, where the word sails is followed by moonsails, a made up compound version of the former word. Using the same word twice, and in this case, by adding on and modifying its second appearance, the reader is likely to acquire a clear picture of the scene that Whitman lays out in the poem. Emphasizing the image of the ship s sails by preceding the words with diction such as all and even attributes the sails to a sense of abundance or freedom. The third instance of repetition occurs in line four, where she speeds she speeds is used to describe the motions that the ship is making. Whereas it would be considered grammatically correct to include a comma after the first mention of she speeds, leaving it out better reflects the content of the poem: she speeds she speeds gives the impression of a ship slicing through the water quickly. In many cases, using the same word twice in a row takes away from a text s message, but in The Ship Starting, this repetition instead works in Whitman s favor by supporting the visual imagery he seeks to create. Walt Whitman s The Ship Starting is a poem that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
