Nkrumah s Successful and failed policies A great leader of Ghana was not solely known by his name
but people remember him for what he has done for the nation. Kwame Nkrumah led United Gold
Coast Convention (UGCC) to gain support and achieve independence for Ghana in 1957. After a
conflict in party arises Nkrumah splits because he believed that UGCC goal wasn t solely to achieve
independence and formed a new party, the Convention People s Party (CPP). After Nkrumah became
the first Ghana president through his policies and political strategies it helped Ghana exponentially
develop and lead Ghana towards modernization. The period of 1958 1966 would mark as one of the
most critical periods for development for many countries in western Africa and Ghana was amongst
leading countries in rapid industrialization (Week 3, Economic and political development: Slide 7). To
this day, people of Ghana remember Nkrumah not just as the first president but as a great leader for
numerous reasons, mainly for his great deal of contribution in gaining independence and post
independence developments. One of the prominent achievements that Dr. Nkrumah had achieved was
gaining independence from Great Britain through serving as a leader in both UGCC and CPP.

Human Condition In Hamlet
A metaphysical rendering of William Shakespeare s revenge tragedy play Hamlet serves to embody
the struggle of the human condition, in which the coalesce of corruption, deception, delay, and
mortality reflects our underlying moral principle. The adoption of the Senecan and Aristotelian
tragedy conventions and use of theatre as the lens to view the Elizabethan Machiavellian Zeitgeist has
contributed to the textual integrity of Hamlet. Altogether, Shakespeare s exploration of the ubiquitous
aspects of the human condition permeates through contextual barriers, hence contributing to Hamlet s
canonical status.
Through the corruption that lies at the core of humanity, Shakespeare explores the ontological battle
for moral justice. Immediately, the question Who s there? in the exposition develops an angst
ambience, foreshadowing a Denmark wrought with corruption. This foreboding sense of corruption is
further implored by the supernatural connotation of Hamlet s Father s apparition and natural imagery

This notion is encapsulated by those in positions of power. The incognito of Claudius and Gertrude s
immoral disposition is constantly preserved by a public façade. Claudius is represented as a proficient
orator; whose controlled vernacular and lexicon allows him to discreetly engage his audience with
propagandistic messages. The juxtaposition between Claudius public and private persona is captured
by the paradoxical phrase with mirth in funeral and with dirge in marriage . Claudius employs the aid
of anaphora and sycophantic language to conceal and embellish his true persona. Similarly, Gertrude s
prompt remarriage paints those in positions of power as deceptive. The anthropomorphism a beast

nature. Ultimately, deception reflects the moral discourse of

Comparison Between Tombstone Blues And Desolation Row
If members of the folk establishment felt conflicted by Dylan s success, they would soon be enraged
by his break out performance at the Newport Folk Festival in 1965, in which he ushered in the era of
folk rock. Despite lyrical genius, folk music had been unable to touch the primal urges released
through rock and roll, inhibiting the genre from reaching a mass audience. Dylan combined folk with
rock in a way that brought the best traits in each to bear. He filled rock s lyrical vacuum with
Tombstone Blues and Desolation Row, among others. Tombstone Blues infuses an exciting rock and
roll beat with surreal lyrics that maintain Dylan s individualism. Desolation Row continues this trend;

Dylan explained his 1965 transition in an interview that same year, explaining to reporter Charles
Champlin that songs aren t gonna save the world. He goes on to dispel the notion that he is a teacher
or a leader, even going so far as to reject labels like poet. Frustrated with pop culture s simple minded
political commitment, he makes a shambles of it. Desolation Row demands listeners question the
significance of which side one is on, when we are all sitting aboard the sinking Titanic. No longer
enacting change through his art, Dylan now satirizes any who are naive enough to believe they can
save the world. The satire appears mainly directed at elites who intellectualized their commitment [to
far away folks ] without having true feelings. During the later portion of the 1960 s, Dylan turned his

China is an extremely large country, with a population of nearly 1.3 billion people. (Schwartländer,
2017) In July of 2005, China embarked on a healthcare reform effort to improve their healthcare
system, and it was launched in 2009. (Shi, 2014) China, like the United States, strives to provide their
citizens with quality and convenient healthcare, but health policymaking can also be vastly different
between the two countries. China has been dedicated to making many improvements with their
healthcare system, but the current state of healthcare reform in China still has a long way to go,

Breast Cancer Saving Lives
This year about 564,800 Americans are expected to die from cancer. Since 1990, there have been
approximately 5 million deaths from cancer. This diagnosis is clearly taking too many lives too fast
and is one of the biggest health problems in the world. If we all start giving more donations we could
hopefully help this devastating disease disappear from our planet. If you donate more money more
research will go into treatments and those treatments will become stronger, more precise, and help
more people. Those treatments, if better and stronger, will save more lives from the wrath of cancer.

A Case Study For Week Three Centers On A Liability And...
The case study selected for week three centers on a liability and assumption of risk case study. In this
case study, Brent Thomas and George Banks are facing liability charges after Ricky Watts sustained a
serious injury during hockey practice (Essex, 2016). In this situation, Thomas is the school principal,
and Banks is the hockey coach as well as the gym teacher (Essex, 2016). Ricky obtained injuries after
improperly blocking the puck (Essex, 2016). This case study was selected because it highlights a
situation that will likely be faced by all future school leaders. Sports are popular among students, and
there is inherent risk in each sporting event. A school is open to liability if they do not ensure that
proper protocols are met. Responding to Case Study Questions
Question 1: What factors would determine whether the principal may be liable (Essex, 2016)?
In order to prove Thomas liable in this situation, there would have to be evidence of proximate cause
(Essex, 2016). The student, or student s family, would need to be able to prove that there is a
relationship between the principal s breach of duty, and the injury the student suffered (Essex, 2016). I
have dedicated the remainder of this paragraph to describing the ways in which Thomas may be in
breach of his duty. Thomas has the responsibility as the school principal to ensure that Homewood
High School has highly qualified teachers. It is his responsibility to recommend to the board the

Summary Of Sir Thomas Malory s Le Morte Darthur
In the novel Le Morte Darthur: The Winchester Manuscript, the author, Sir Thomas Malory, presents
the reader with many diverse antagonists, one of whom is Sir Tarquin. Through Sir Tarquin s remarks
and conduct, Malory portrays Sir Tarquin as a malicious villain who despises one specific character,
Sir Lancelot Du Lake. The built up anger and revulsion Sir Tarquin feels towards Sir Lancelot results
in Sir Tarquin becoming one of the most dexterous and malicious knights in all of Christendom. He
becomes such by searching out, challenging, and defeating many knights of the Round Table.
The reader can ask, What is the motive behind Sir Tarquin s quest? Before Sir Lancelot and Sir
Tarquin duel, Malory leaves this question open for the reader to make their own conclusion. As this
episode progresses, the reader finally receives a clue as Sir Lancelot and Sir Tarquin exchange
dialogue for the first time. Sir Lancelot makes it known he is a member of the Round Table and has
come to save his fellow knights in distress. Sir Tarquin responds, And thou be of the Round Table, I
defy thee and all thy fellowship (Mallory 105). Throughout the years, Sir Tarquin has targeted many
knights who are of the fellowship of the Round Table. He has a burning hatred towards the King s
knights and he willfully rebels and challenges those who are members of the said company. With these
words, Sir Tarquin clearly shows he is an enemy to the representatives of King Arthur s court. His

Amitai Etzioni a New Community
What is a community? To many it is a social group of any size whose members reside in a specific
locality, share government, and often have a common cultural and historical heritage. For many this is
an abstract term. Many people don t exactly know what a community is. It can be felt or touched and
sure enough it can t be seen. Society also plays a role in this relative and abstract term of community.
Meaning, the body of human beings generally, associated or viewed as members of a community.

The University Of Notre Dame s Undergraduate Usage Of St....
The purpose of this project was to examine the University of Notre Dame s undergraduate usage of St.
Liam s health center. Five questions were proposed to collect data on specific areas to gain an
understanding of how often and why undergraduate students seek out St. Liam s services. We believe
that St. Liam s is underutilized and hypothesized that not many undergraduates use the services
provide. Furthermore, we suspect that factors such as stress and grades (GPA) affect a student s health,
which would prompt them to visit and use St. Liam s health center. One of the target questions
focused on St. Liam s mental health and counseling services. We aim to determine what type of
mental health issue increases the number of times undergraduates students visited St. Liam s for
mental health/counseling services. Our results indicated that there is a relationship between the student
s type of issue and the number of visits to St. Liam s. From this, we can draw from the raw data that
the issue most prevalent in causing students to seek out counseling is mental illness such as depression
and bipolar disorder, with stress being the third most prominent cause. However, majority of the
students reported having no issue, but this did not affect the number of visits these students made to
St. Liam s. An equal number of students reporting no issue made a different amount of trips to St.
Liam s for mental health services, implying that most students are just as likely to use St. Liam s.

Research Paper On Roman Slavery
Roman Slavery In Rome, there were people who worked as tutors, fieldworkers, and housemaids.
Imagine having to work all day with no pay. In ancient Rome They used slaves similar to a lot of other
places in the ancient world, Slavery had a long history in the ancient world and was practiced in
Ancient Egypt and Greece, as well as Rome. All slaves and their families were the property of their
owners similar to American slavery Slaves were often whipped, branded or cruelly mistreated. They
had to work in private households, in mines and factories, and on farms. Some slave owners freed
their slaves in considerable numbers Some freed them outright, while others allowed them to buy their
own freedom (Cartwright). Life was very tough for slaves in ancient Rome, they had to do a lot of
work with a lot of hardship. There were three types of slaves, household slaves, Field slaves and Tutor
slaves.
Slaves were very important to the Romans. Without slaves, the wealthy of Rome would not have been
able to lead the lifestyles that they wanted to.Who were slaves? They were people who were
frequently captured in battle and sent back to Rome to be sold.If a slave married and had children, the
children would automatically become slaves. No one is sure how many slaves existed in the Roman
Empire. it is thought that 25% of all people in Rome were slaves. A rich man might own as many as

anywhere, you must have roots both in religion and family. I have these things. R.K.Narayan has
depicted himself. Man is a social animal and a man living outside the society is either a god or a beast
. This proverb depicts the importance of society and relations for a human being. That is why, since
the Renaissance Humanism, and for that purpose the study of Humanities has become a sine qua non
for the literary artists. It was established long ago, what a piece of work is man? and The proper study
of mankind is man. All this accounts for an exploration of a connecting link between two human

relationship between two women, with all its conflict and compromise. On social grounds, the
relationship outside the bonds of family is stressed, such as master labour relationship, teacher taught

type of human relationship is strengthened by addressing the other person in domestic nomenclature

In the assessment there were only two alternatives, purchasing the land was the first alternative and
the second was to take no action (Vinkey, 2006). These both are fine as actions that can be taken;
however, there are organizations that will procure land for conservation purposes. The Safari Club
Foundation uses private donations and other procurements to promote conservation and game
preserves (Safari, n. d.). The statement that a conservation easement or lease are not feasible
alternatives (Vinkey, 2006) suggests a lack of options. This seems to be a bias on the part of the
author.
The no purchase option in the socio economic section had suggested that the economic use of the land
be on assumption. Also that there were no figures to determine the economic impact; however, if
assumptions were made to the economic use there should be at least theoretical figures to develop an
economic impact. The tax revenue for the county is also assumed to stay the same; however, if the
land was to be developed by a private citizen the value of the land would increase and in turn the tax
levy (Brooks, 2006). In the EA prior to the socio economic assessment it is suggested that the tax
revenue could increase due to development (Vinkey, 2006) in contradiction with each other.

Qualitative Research In Broadcast Media
Research methods in media studies have proven to be essential assets in the process of analysis and
evaluation. There are many different approaches to researching broadcast media and each is as
effective as the next. There are some methods more suited to certain topics than others and it is
expected to know the most effective method for each topic to enhance the validity and reliability of
the research. In this essay I will be answering the question, How do we research broadcast media? I
will be evaluating and discussing some of these research methods and how essential a correct method
can prove to be in academic research in broadcast media.
The qualitative and quantitative approaches are two main methods in research. Qualitative research is
mainly based on description rather than on measurement, whereas quantitative research is mostly
based on measurement rather than description. Qualitative research is a method that usually gives
emphasis to words rather than quantification in the collection and analysis of data. As a research
strategy it is broadly inductivist, constructionist and interpretivist, but qualitative researchers do not
always subscribe to all three of these features. (Bryman, A 2012) p380
Quantitative research involves the collection of numerical data. It displays a view of the relationship
between theory and research as deductive and having an objectivist concept of social reality. The basic
concepts that characterise quantitative research

that business law sets a foundation for our country and all organized matters and everything within it.

Renaissance Magic Research Paper
Magic in The Renaissance
To measure up to The Renaissance era, more or less seven hundred years ago; the way of life today is
much more progressive and sensible rather than swayed by somewhat inflexible ideas. In the culture
of today, society is actually not so far detached from Renaissance thoughts and magical control, as it is
believed to be. The widely proposed definition of magic is the act of deception and illusion with the
use of spells and abracadabra s. However magic is greater than that, magic is power that appears to
influence the course of events by using mysterious or supernatural forces. While science is based on
the conception of natural forces, magic springs from the idea of a certain mystic, impersonal power,

Plays, shorts stories and other works of literature of that time were full of the out of this world wonder
of magic and sorcery. A few of the best compositions to be brought out of the Renaissance integrated
magic into its wording, such as plays by Shakespeare, Midsummer Night s Dream and The Tempest.
Shakespeare s a Midsummer Night s Dream was inspired by his interest in Renaissance magic. The
play s plot is centralized around the mystical world of fairies and the result when they use magic
disorder the usual control of things. It made apparent that the use of magic in the play Midsummer
Night s Dream is especially important, without it there would hardly be a show. Shakespeare as a
Renaissance writer had the motivation from magic as his final play The Tempest was modeled on John

cause chaos, and subsequently magic can fix things. Shakespeare s writing about magic as an object of

to put humanity and the greater good globally first, its an ability to see themselves as not simply
citizens of some local region or group but also, and above all, as human beings bound to all other
human beings by ties of recognition and concern: as citizens of the world . (Nussbaum, 2004, p.45).
Rights and Responsibilities
As global citizens we must know our goals in order to know what responsibilities we have we have
drifted apart, and forgotten our shared destiny (...). But the burdens of global citizenship continue to
bind us together. (Obama, 2008), we must enable ourselves as global citizens to understand the issues
plaguing our world and look at these issues ethically, morally, and socially. We as global citizens have
the responsibility for advocating greater justice in the world, this type of advocating needs to be
demonstrated and is exemplified in a major issue currently plaguing our world relating to women s
rights and the inequality women face in many countries. Women s rights are human rights and are

Charles Ponozi Research Paper
Investment fraud is a maneuver where the operator or individual, pays returns to the investors from
fines paid to operators from the new investors, then from the profit earned by the operator or the
individual. The Ponzi scheme was an investment fraud were financial returns were not available
through traditional investors. The scheme did not invest funds from the individual victims, Ponzi paid
dividends which is not a company expense: to initial investors using the funds for future investors.
The white collar offender known for the Ponzi Scheme was called Carlo Ponzi, later known as Charles
Ponzi, Charles P. Bianchi, or Charles Ponzi. His full birthname was Carlo Pietro Giovanni Guglielmo
Tebaldo Ponzi. Born in Parma, Italy, raised by his parents Oreste Ponzi and Imelda. Shortly after ...

the immigrants he came over to the United States with absolutely nothing. He was like any other
young man, he moved to different residences though out his adolescent years and worked different
professions. He perused many occupations such as a server, dishwasher and he was a clerk. Even
when he was a server he was starting to commit white collar crime. Ponzi was stealing from the
company, and he was so desperate that he even would give the wrong amount of change back to his
costumer. Eventually all of the occupations that he perused, he ultimately failed at; later becoming a

Michael Shaara – Chapter Summary
July 2, 1863, first starts with the chaptered named Fremantle, an English trader that came across the
confederate army. Fremantle is very traditional when it comes to the English society and really likes to
be apart of the army but really doesn t understand what is happening. As I first started reading page
155 I immediately made a self connection. Fremantle states he could sense the red battle forming
today, coming like the sun. His senses shocked him awake. I can relate this to my own life. When a big
event is coming up sleeping doesn t come easy and my excitement and anxiousness wakes me up. I
could only imagine how he is feeling to watch another battle. One reason I do enjoy this book is that it
is still fiction but Michael Shaara adds comical conversation between ... Show more content on

This showed a softer side of chamberlain I haven t seen often. One thing I like about Michael Shaara
writing is how descriptive she is for example the red eyes looked up out of the vast of darkness 168
this painted a picture in my head of how weak and powerless that poor man laid there and it made my
emotions come out. One part I found interesting is on page179 Kilrain says This is what it s all about
referring to slavery. This surprised me because south did not believe slavery was the issue of the war.
To me chapter 4 one of the climax of the novel with the battle beginning. It was smart for chamberlain
to tell his men to hold their place so the union army couldn t attack them from the back. Holding their
line also showed toughness and showed they wouldn t back down from the challenges of war. In
chapter 5 I felt bad for Longstreet for being blamed for the defeat that day even though it was Lee s
order to attack. no one would ever blame him because of his position above everyone. It s like getting
made at the messenger, not the man who sent the

The Fetishism Of Commodities, By Karl Marx
The Fetishism of Commodities 1 The Fetishism of Commodities Karl Marx explain how society has
changed the perspective towards objects that the human being needs or do for pleasure and have
transformed them into commodities, popular things that people want to get, just to have it, instead of
finding a real use in their daily live. These situations create what he calls a fetishism of commodities,
where people want to buy or sell something just for desire and not for the real meaning of the object.
The necessities in people s daily live leads them to create or develop those objects necessary for
existence. However, when people decide to use them as a business and make them in a mass
production,

Mad Cow Disease Essay
Mad Cow Disease Bovine spongiform encephalophathy ( BSE), which is mainly known as mad cow
disease has infected the society and has put the lives of individuals at risk. This was very frightening
to the people that ate meat during that time. The terrified people would not even want to eat
hamburgers at MacDonald, steak at restaurant and much more. What also alarmed the people was the
fact that there was a possibility of getting the human form of mad cow disease. This was called variant
Creutzfeldt Jakob disease (vCJD) which is through tainted blood, but this was only a theory which ...

Canada also exported most of its meat to the United States, and at
that time it was the world s largest beef importing country. The US also had a case of mad cow disease
on December 23, 2003. This horrible disease is a chronic, degenerative disorder that affects the central
nervous system of cattle. The infected cow was from
a farm in Washington. After killing the cattle, it was sold out with out the owner s knowledge that the
cow was infected with the deadly disease. Right when the US department of agriculture (USDA)
found out, they launched an emergency investigation that involved the United States and Canada.
Canada and the States had a goal which
was to find out where this disease started and to stop it before it was too late.
Some people say that all slaughtered cows should be tested, but the problem is that many of these
cows are very young and the disease will not show up in the cows until they have reached 30 months
of age. DeHaven also said that This is a disease with a very long incubation period typically three to
eight years. He also states that To suggest that we would test all animals regardless of age at slaughter
is not consistent with the science and what we know about the disease. A professor at the University of
Maryland says that the disease will replicate in some tissue parts of the body during incubation
periods, and only after three years it

Why Should Teachers Get Paid More
Why Teachers Should Be Paid More Many people wonder if teachers should or should not get paid
more than they do. A lot of people believe that teachers should get paid more, but there are some that
do not. Parents that want their kids to have a good education want teachers to get paid more. For
example, P.V Derkachev said, ... teacher pay influences the quality of education. (Derkachev 574).
Teachers that get payed more would be more likely to perform better at their job and not mind the
extra time that they have to do stuff outside of work to get everything done. Matt Barnum said, Higher
salaries even small bonuses can and do keep some teachers in the classroom, and likely improve
outcomes for their students. (Barnum). The student is going to get taught better if teachers get paid
more because the teacher will want to teach at the best of her ability which will help the student.
Teachers should be paid more because They work outside of the classroom (Snyder). They have to
work on lesson plans, grade their assignment, tests, and quizzes (Snyder). In 5 Reasons Why Teachers
Need To Get Paid More, it says, If you take into account the average teacher s salary and the hours
they spend at work, they could probably make more money being an hourly wage employee. (Snyder).
They should be getting paid more because they do not get paid enough with how much they do outside
of work to be able to do what they do in the classroom. Teachers work very hard for what they do and
to get everything done. Another reason why teachers should be paid more is that We will have no
teachers (Snyder). Kasey Snyder said, No one wants to have a job that underpays and undervalues
them. A lot of people choice another path of career when they go to college instead of being a teacher
because teachers do not get paid enough. In Teachers Need a Raise, it says that young teachers are ...
more likely to cite low pay as one of the main drawbacks of teaching than older teachers and are also
more likely to leave the profession because of low starting salaries. (Partelow). People that want to be
a teacher end up not doing it for long in college and change their major or graduate and not teach for
long and go to school for

The Jewish Religion
When choosing my classes at the beginning of the semester I wanted to choose something that I was
interested in learning but didn t know much about, and that s exactly why I chose to take this Jewish
Studies course. As I was raised a Catholic and attended Catholic school all my life I knew very little
about the Jewish Religion. Now my knowledge of the Jewish faith has strengthened and has been
fulfilled with the help of this class and Rabbi Bogot. The phrase I chose to right my term paper on is
the word and meaning of Mitzvah also known as commandment. As stated in the syllabus packet A
Mitzvah is a God mandated behavior. These behaviors, introduced in the Torah as statutes and
ordinances for the Hebrew people, define the ways in which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

A Bar Mitzvah or a Bat Mitzvah is when a boy or girl reaches the age of thirteen and they are now
obligated to observe the commandments and are welcomed into adulthood. These are both celebrated
through the gathering or family and friends in the form of a party. This celebration is one of the rituals
of the Jewish religion.
Mitzvot (plural of Mitzvah) are understood to come from God and intended for Jewish people to
observe and partake in. Some Jewish people that live on the Western side of the world believe there is
some contradiction with the thought of being commanded to act in something because it takes away
from their right to choose how to behave. In the Torah, it says that when God gave the commandments
he declared, Behold, I have set before you the blessing [of observing the commandments] and the
curse [the potential punishment of failing to observe the Mitzvot] therefore, choose life! . The Jewish
people interpreted this as God acknowledging that Jews have a choice and he wants them to choose
the right one. All Jewish people have different beliefs behind the importance of a Mitzvah. Some
believers attempted to prove that Mitzvot are all sensible, logical actions that any person with ethical
morals would welcome. Whereas others reject that belief and believe that the six hundred and thirteen
commandments improve them as human beings and refines them into honest and impartial people by
obeying God

Nell Vyse Case Study
Amongst the high fired vessels for sale, were had pre war fine ash glazes and although not credited,
had been devised by Nell Vyse. The Chelsea News advised the reader that Vyse had a secret process
employing the use of Poplar, Elm and even cigar ash, which gave a variety of subtle colours to his
glazed pottery. Many of which the reporter said, resembled valuable pieces of Chinese pottery at the
Victoria and Albert Museum. Vyse recounts some of the events of his working day at the studio when
the process of firing the kiln firing was taking place.
Often I have had to rise at 4 am to get to the gas furnace going and work until late at night. Everything
depends on the nicety of the gas. The quality of the pottery depends on that. When I started ... Show

There was much to do, he said, before closing the door for the last time. No doubt, there was a
satisfied smile on Vyse s face as he gazed around the Wilton Gallery, in the knowledge that most of his
stoneware and animal groups had a small red sold label affixed to them. This had been, in that respect,
his best exhibition of all. At the end of the exhibition, all the work was sold, from a small bowl costing
one guinea to the largest piece costing £25. However, it is from a small notice in the magazine Arts
Review that one learns the 81 year old Charles Vyse, had exhibited some of his drawings and
paintings. Reverentially the reviewer writes that Charles Vyse is a potter celebrated as sculptor and
painter, too; and for this, his last exhibition (he is now in his 83rd year) he has produced a marvellous
show. Though I went on private view day, all was already over bar the shouting, all but a few pieces
sold, and most will have been taken away before this notice appears. It remains, therefore, only to
salute a great craftsman, and to turn our attention to the concurrent show of small figurative paintings.

Analysis Of Michael Porter s Value Chain
A low cost strategy in order to gain market share does possess inherent risk, for example, other
competing firms with larger capital may be able to lower their costs, forcing the firm to operate at a
reduced profit of even loss. As a result of technology advances, rival firms could be able to surpass
their present production abilities, thus eliminating the competitive advantage. In addition, several rival
firms could combine their efforts, following a focus strategy and target various narrow markets could
be able to achieve an even lower cost within their segments and as a collective group, certainly gain
considerable market advantage. Consequently, low cost leadership, when combined with low prices
can bring about a disadvantage which is less customer loyalty (Vokurka Davis, 2004). Relatively low
prices can also result in creating a lasting negative attitude towards the quality of the product in the
mindset of the customers.
Discussion Question 6.3: In his value chain examination, Michael Porter distinguished five essential
quality producing ventures in ordinary business operations. They are: inbound logistics, operations,
outbound logistics, marketing and sales and service. (Porter, et al 2010) Porter s emphasis point in the
worth chain portrayal is that organizations can produce the best overall revenues by accentuating
client appreciation in each of these stages. Ideal client appreciation, and in this way maximum net
revenues, result from a mix of either ease

Work Life Conflict
Chapter I: Introduction Work life balance is a concept that supports the efforts of employees to split
their time and energy between work and the other important aspects of their lives. It is a daily effort to
make time for family, friends, community participation, spirituality, personal growth, self care, and
other personal activities, in addition to the demands of the workplace. Work life balance will vary for
each person and will change throughout life. It is a flexible working arrangement that allows both
parents and non parents to avail of working arrangement that provide balance between work and
personal responsibility. Work life balance is assisted by employers who institute policies, procedures,
actions, and expectations that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The studies focused on the occupancy of three roles: parental status, informal caring and paid work. It
showed that 7% of people experienced caring for someone, 50% were parents and 66% were in some
type of paid work. The data for dual roles played by them were as follows; 34% who were both
parents and paid workers, 1% were parents and care takers, and 2% were paid workers and care takers.
2% of the individuals in the survey played all three roles, and 18.7% of the individuals had no role to
play. It shows that only a small proportion of individuals in midlife combined paid work with
consistent care giving or other multiple role configurations. It was found that men and women equally
faced the multiple roles. Women were also likely to hold some of the more intense roles than their
male counter parts. There is a growing recognition by policymakers of the importance of supporting
individuals in juggling work and family life, as reflected in the British government s launch in 2000 of
the Work Life Balance Campaign. This aims to encourage employers to introduce more flexible work
practices in order to facilitate workers reaching a better equilibrium between work and other spheres
of their life (e.g., child or adult caring responsibilities, as well as other interests). Although the number
of companies offering flexible working practices in Britain is growing, it is relatively small compared

The American Red Cross Failure
In the past, the Red Cross Association has dealt with controversy from its corrupt leadership to its
reputation surrounding possible fraud. O.C. Ferrell, John Fraedrich and Linda Ferrell (2015) defines
the American Red Cross (ARC) as an independent organization who s mission is to provide relief to
victims of disasters and help people prevent, prepare for and respond to emergencies (Ferrell,
Fraedrich, Ferrell, 2015). In recent news, Hurricane Matthew made its way to the United States in
October 2016. The category 4 storm was expected to damage the Southeast coast of the United States
including Florida and South Carolina (Bacon, 2016). While many residents took precautions and
acknowledged the state of emergencies that were put into place,

Saber The Hero s Journey
In The Search, by Naguib Mahfouz, the protagonist, Saber, brings forth the question of what it means
to be a genuine hero. After being thrust into a world of uncertainty, he sets off on a search to find his
father. Yet, it is quickly apparent that Saber lacks the qualities to be a hero in the traditional sense.
While Saber does experience a portion of expected heroic like events, he fails to be a typical hero
because of his inability to overcome his transgressions and maintain conventional heroic attributes. He
does, however, partially make his amends as an anti hero.
According to Joseph Cambell s Hero s Journey, there is a standard set of actions that transpires in
multiple stories, particularly in heroic ones. This sequence of actions guides ... Show more content on

This idea is supported in The Search, by how Elham serves as both a foil to Saber s character and a
symbol of improvement for him. To clarify, up until this point it is clear that Saber (in his unheroic
like fashion) is mainly relying on others to complete his search. In Cairo, he finally places an
advertisement for his father, though in perspective, it means the success of his search practically
depends on his father seeing the advertisement and responding to it. Saber makes no further attempts
to even narrow down his father s possible occupation or location. In contrast, Elham cultivates her
own future, acquiring a higher education while working as a clerk, a noteworthy feat for a woman in
her times. Saber, the supposed hero, however is unwilling to accommodate for a more reliable and
realistic life. When Elham questions why he does not work he responds, any work I do must come
through my father. It s worthless otherwise (372). And later when she actually offers to find him
possible job opportunities his excuse is only, there s nothing I know how to do (407). Though the
reader may wish Saber to choose Elham, thus ultimately developing his character and improving his
odds, he remains

Kwame Nkrumah led United Gold Coast Convention (UGCC) to gain support and achieve independence for Ghana in 1957. After a conflict in party arises Nkrumah splits because he believed that UGCC goal wasn t solely to achieve independence and formed a new party, the Convention People s Party (CPP). After Nkrumah became the first Ghana president through his policies and political strategies it helped Ghana exponentially develop and lead Ghana towards modernization. The period of 1958 1966 would mark as one of the most critical periods for development for many countries in western Africa and Ghana was amongst leading countries in rapid industrialization (Week 3, Economic and political development: Slide 7). To this day, people of Ghana remember Nkrumah not just as the first president but as a great leader for numerous reasons, mainly for his great deal of contribution in gaining independence and post independence developments. • 3. Human Condition In Hamlet A metaphysical rendering of William Shakespeare s revenge tragedy play Hamlet serves to embody the struggle of the human condition, in which the coalesce of corruption, deception, delay, and mortality reflects our underlying moral principle. The adoption of the Senecan and Aristotelian tragedy conventions and use of theatre as the lens to view the Elizabethan Machiavellian Zeitgeist has contributed to the textual integrity of Hamlet. Altogether, Shakespeare s exploration of the ubiquitous aspects of the human condition permeates through contextual barriers, hence contributing to Hamlet s canonical status. Through the corruption that lies at the core of humanity, Shakespeare explores the ontological battle for moral justice. Immediately, the question Who s there? in the exposition develops an angst ambience, foreshadowing a Denmark wrought with corruption. This foreboding sense of corruption is further implored by the supernatural connotation of Hamlet s Father s apparition and natural imagery Tis an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Claudius is represented as a proficient orator; whose controlled vernacular and lexicon allows him to discreetly engage his audience with propagandistic messages. The juxtaposition between Claudius public and private persona is captured by the paradoxical phrase with mirth in funeral and with dirge in marriage . Claudius employs the aid of anaphora and sycophantic language to conceal and embellish his true persona. Similarly, Gertrude s prompt remarriage paints those in positions of power as deceptive. Comparison Between Tombstone Blues And Desolation Row If members of the folk establishment felt conflicted by Dylan s success, they would soon be enraged by his break out performance at the Newport Folk Festival in 1965, in which he ushered in the era of folk rock. Despite lyrical genius, folk music had been unable to touch the primal urges released through rock and roll, inhibiting the genre from reaching a mass audience. Dylan combined folk with rock in a way that brought the best traits in each to bear. He filled rock s lyrical vacuum with Tombstone Blues and Desolation Row, among others. Tombstone Blues infuses an exciting rock and roll beat with surreal lyrics that maintain Dylan s individualism. Frustrated with pop culture s simple minded political commitment, he makes a shambles of it. Desolation Row demands listeners question the significance of which side one is on, when we are all sitting aboard the sinking Titanic. No longer enacting change through his art, Dylan now satirizes any who are naive enough to believe they can save the world. In this case study, Brent Thomas and George Banks are facing liability charges after Ricky Watts sustained a serious injury during hockey practice (Essex, 2016). In this situation, Thomas is the school principal, and Banks is the hockey coach as well as the gym teacher (Essex, 2016). Ricky obtained injuries after improperly blocking the puck (Essex, 2016). This case study was selected because it highlights a situation that will likely be faced by all future school leaders. Sports are popular among students, and there is inherent risk in each sporting event. A school is open to liability if they do not ensure that proper protocols are met. Responding to Case Study Questions Question 1: What factors would determine whether the principal may be liable (Essex, 2016)? In order to prove Thomas liable in this situation, there would have to be evidence of proximate cause (Essex, 2016). The student, or student s family, would need to be able to prove that there is a relationship between the principal s breach of duty, and the injury the student suffered (Essex, 2016). Summary Of Sir Thomas Malory s Le Morte Darthur In the novel Le Morte Darthur: The Winchester Manuscript, the author, Sir Thomas Malory, presents the reader with many diverse antagonists, one of whom is Sir Tarquin. Through Sir Tarquin s remarks and conduct, Malory portrays Sir Tarquin as a malicious villain who despises one specific character, Sir Lancelot Du Lake. The built up anger and revulsion Sir Tarquin feels towards Sir Lancelot results in Sir Tarquin becoming one of the most dexterous and malicious knights in all of Christendom. He becomes such by searching out, challenging, and defeating many knights of the Round Table. The reader can ask, What is the motive behind Sir Tarquin s quest? Before Sir Lancelot and Sir Tarquin duel, Malory leaves this question open for the reader to make their own conclusion. As this episode progresses, the reader finally receives a clue as Sir Lancelot and Sir Tarquin exchange dialogue for the first time. Sir Lancelot makes it known he is a member of the Round Table and has come to save his fellow knights in distress. Sir Tarquin responds, And thou be of the Round Table, I defy thee and all thy fellowship (Mallory 105). Throughout the years, Sir Tarquin has targeted many knights who are of the fellowship of the Round Table. • 14. The University Of Notre Dame s Undergraduate Usage Of St.... The purpose of this project was to examine the University of Notre Dame s undergraduate usage of St. Liam s health center. Five questions were proposed to collect data on specific areas to gain an understanding of how often and why undergraduate students seek out St. Liam s services. We believe that St. Liam s is underutilized and hypothesized that not many undergraduates use the services provide. Furthermore, we suspect that factors such as stress and grades (GPA) affect a student s health, which would prompt them to visit and use St. Liam s health center. One of the target questions focused on St. Liam s mental health and counseling services. We aim to determine what type of mental health issue increases the number of times undergraduates students visited St. Liam s for mental health/counseling services. Our results indicated that there is a relationship between the student s type of issue and the number of visits to St. Liam s. From this, we can draw from the raw data that the issue most prevalent in causing students to seek out counseling is mental illness such as depression and bipolar disorder, with stress being the third most prominent cause. However, majority of the students reported having no issue, but this did not affect the number of visits these students made to St. Liam s. An equal number of students reporting no issue made a different amount of trips to St. Liam s for mental health services, implying that most students are just as likely to use St. Liam s. ... The Safari Club Foundation uses private donations and other procurements to promote conservation and game preserves (Safari, n. d.). The statement that a conservation easement or lease are not feasible alternatives (Vinkey, 2006) suggests a lack of options. This seems to be a bias on the part of the author. There are many different approaches to researching broadcast media and each is as effective as the next. There are some methods more suited to certain topics than others and it is expected to know the most effective method for each topic to enhance the validity and reliability of the research. In this essay I will be answering the question, How do we research broadcast media? I will be evaluating and discussing some of these research methods and how essential a correct method can prove to be in academic research in broadcast media. The qualitative and quantitative approaches are two main methods in research. Qualitative research is mainly based on description rather than on measurement, whereas quantitative research is mostly based on measurement rather than description. Qualitative research is a method that usually gives emphasis to words rather than quantification in the collection and analysis of data. As a research strategy it is broadly inductivist, constructionist and interpretivist, but qualitative researchers do not always subscribe to all three of these features. (Bryman, A 2012) p380 Quantitative research involves the collection of numerical data. Renaissance Magic Research Paper Magic in The Renaissance To measure up to The Renaissance era, more or less seven hundred years ago; the way of life today is much more progressive and sensible rather than swayed by somewhat inflexible ideas. In the culture of today, society is actually not so far detached from Renaissance thoughts and magical control, as it is believed to be. The widely proposed definition of magic is the act of deception and illusion with the use of spells and abracadabra s. However magic is greater than that, magic is power that appears to influence the course of events by using mysterious or supernatural forces. While science is based on the conception of natural forces, magic springs from the idea of a certain mystic, impersonal power, which is believed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Plays, shorts stories and other works of literature of that time were full of the out of this world wonder of magic and sorcery. A few of the best compositions to be brought out of the Renaissance integrated magic into its wording, such as plays by Shakespeare, Midsummer Night s Dream and The Tempest. Shakespeare s a Midsummer Night s Dream was inspired by his interest in Renaissance magic. The play s plot is centralized around the mystical world of fairies and the result when they use magic disorder the usual control of things. It made apparent that the use of magic in the play Midsummer Night s Dream is especially important, without it there would hardly be a show. Shakespeare as a Renaissance writer had the motivation from magic as his final play The Tempest was modeled on John Dee. In Shakespeare s work, he demonstrated two sides of magic: the first being that magic can easily cause chaos, and subsequently magic can fix things. Shakespeare s writing about magic as an object of positive and humorous was unusual for the Renaissance era, unlike common displayed of fear and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Global Citizenship And The Rights Of Women Global Citizenship and the Rights of women Global Citizen A Global citizen is someone who identifies with being part of an emerging world community and whose actions contribute to building this community s values and practices. (Kosmosjournal.org, 2016). Global citizens are all of us who identify with taking action against world issues. Global Citizenship (cosmopolitism) looks at us as needing to be patriotic to our nation state, but also needing to put humanity and the greater good globally first, its an ability to see themselves as not simply citizens of some local region or group but also, and above all, as human beings bound to all other human beings by ties of recognition and concern: as citizens of the world . (Nussbaum, 2004, p.45). Rights and Responsibilities As global citizens we must know our goals in order to know what responsibilities we have we have drifted apart, and forgotten our shared destiny (...). But the burdens of global citizenship continue to bind us together. (Obama, 2008), we must enable ourselves as global citizens to understand the issues plaguing our world and look at these issues ethically, morally, and socially. We as global citizens have the responsibility for advocating greater justice in the world, this type of advocating needs to be demonstrated and is exemplified in a major issue currently plaguing our world relating to women s rights and the inequality women face in many countries. • 25. Michael Shaara – Chapter Summary July 2, 1863, first starts with the chaptered named Fremantle, an English trader that came across the confederate army. Fremantle is very traditional when it comes to the English society and really likes to be apart of the army but really doesn t understand what is happening. As I first started reading page 155 I immediately made a self connection. Fremantle states he could sense the red battle forming today, coming like the sun. His senses shocked him awake. I can relate this to my own life. When a big event is coming up sleeping doesn t come easy and my excitement and anxiousness wakes me up. I could only imagine how he is feeling to watch another battle. One reason I do enjoy this book is that it is still fiction but Michael Shaara adds comical conversation between ... One part I found interesting is on page179 Kilrain says This is what it s all about referring to slavery. This surprised me because south did not believe slavery was the issue of the war. To me chapter 4 one of the climax of the novel with the battle beginning. It was smart for chamberlain to tell his men to hold their place so the union army couldn t attack them from the back. Holding their line also showed toughness and showed they wouldn t back down from the challenges of war. The Fetishism Of Commodities, By Karl Marx The Fetishism of Commodities 1 The Fetishism of Commodities Karl Marx explain how society has changed the perspective towards objects that the human being needs or do for pleasure and have transformed them into commodities, popular things that people want to get, just to have it, instead of finding a real use in their daily live. These situations create what he calls a fetishism of commodities, where people want to buy or sell something just for desire and not for the real meaning of the object. The necessities in people s daily live leads them to create or develop those objects necessary for existence. After killing the cattle, it was sold out with out the owner s knowledge that the cow was infected with the deadly disease. Right when the US department of agriculture (USDA) found out, they launched an emergency investigation that involved the United States and Canada. Canada and the States had a goal which was to find out where this disease started and to stop it before it was too late. Some people say that all slaughtered cows should be tested, but the problem is that many of these cows are very young and the disease will not show up in the cows until they have reached 30 months of age. DeHaven also said that This is a disease with a very long incubation period typically three to eight years. He also states that To suggest that we would test all animals regardless of age at slaughter is not consistent with the science and what we know about the disease. • 30. Why Should Teachers Get Paid More Why Teachers Should Be Paid More Many people wonder if teachers should or should not get paid more than they do. A lot of people believe that teachers should get paid more, but there are some that do not. Parents that want their kids to have a good education want teachers to get paid more. For example, P.V Derkachev said, ... teacher pay influences the quality of education. (Derkachev 574). Teachers that get payed more would be more likely to perform better at their job and not mind the extra time that they have to do stuff outside of work to get everything done. Matt Barnum said, Higher salaries even small bonuses can and do keep some teachers in the classroom, and likely improve outcomes for their students. (Barnum). The student is going to get taught better if teachers get paid more because the teacher will want to teach at the best of her ability which will help the student. Teachers should be paid more because They work outside of the classroom (Snyder). They have to work on lesson plans, grade their assignment, tests, and quizzes (Snyder). In 5 Reasons Why Teachers Need To Get Paid More, it says, If you take into account the average teacher s salary and the hours they spend at work, they could probably make more money being an hourly wage employee. (Snyder). They should be getting paid more because they do not get paid enough with how much they do outside of work to be able to do what they do in the classroom. Teachers work very hard for what they do and to get everything done. Another reason why teachers should be paid more is that We will have no teachers (Snyder). Kasey Snyder said, No one wants to have a job that underpays and undervalues them. A lot of people choice another path of career when they go to college instead of being a teacher because teachers do not get paid enough. In Teachers Need a Raise, it says that young teachers are ... more likely to cite low pay as one of the main drawbacks of teaching than older teachers and are also more likely to leave the profession because of low starting salaries. As I was raised a Catholic and attended Catholic school all my life I knew very little about the Jewish Religion. Now my knowledge of the Jewish faith has strengthened and has been fulfilled with the help of this class and Rabbi Bogot. A Bar Mitzvah or a Bat Mitzvah is when a boy or girl reaches the age of thirteen and they are now obligated to observe the commandments and are welcomed into adulthood. These are both celebrated through the gathering or family and friends in the form of a party. This celebration is one of the rituals of the Jewish religion. Mitzvot (plural of Mitzvah) are understood to come from God and intended for Jewish people to observe and partake in. Some Jewish people that live on the Western side of the world believe there is some contradiction with the thought of being commanded to act in something because it takes away from their right to choose how to behave. In the Torah, it says that when God gave the commandments he declared, Behold, I have set before you the blessing [of observing the commandments] and the curse [the potential punishment of failing to observe the Mitzvot] therefore, choose life! . The Jewish people interpreted this as God acknowledging that Jews have a choice and he wants them to choose the right one. All Jewish people have different beliefs behind the importance of a Mitzvah. Some believers attempted to prove that Mitzvot are all sensible, logical actions that any person with ethical morals would welcome. Whereas others reject that belief and believe that the six hundred and thirteen commandments improve them as human beings and refines them into honest and impartial people by obeying God ... This had been, in that respect, his best exhibition of all. At the end of the exhibition, all the work was sold, from a small bowl costing one guinea to the largest piece costing £25. However, it is from a small notice in the magazine Arts Review that one learns the 81 year old Charles Vyse, had exhibited some of his drawings and paintings. Reverentially the reviewer writes that Charles Vyse is a potter celebrated as sculptor and painter, too; and for this, his last exhibition (he is now in his 83rd year) he has produced a marvellous show. • 33. Analysis Of Michael Porter s Value Chain A low cost strategy in order to gain market share does possess inherent risk, for example, other competing firms with larger capital may be able to lower their costs, forcing the firm to operate at a reduced profit of even loss. As a result of technology advances, rival firms could be able to surpass their present production abilities, thus eliminating the competitive advantage. In addition, several rival firms could combine their efforts, following a focus strategy and target various narrow markets could be able to achieve an even lower cost within their segments and as a collective group, certainly gain considerable market advantage. Consequently, low cost leadership, when combined with low prices can bring about a disadvantage which is less customer loyalty (Vokurka Davis, 2004). Relatively low prices can also result in creating a lasting negative attitude towards the quality of the product in the mindset of the customers. Discussion Question 6.3: In his value chain examination, Michael Porter distinguished five essential quality producing ventures in ordinary business operations. They are: inbound logistics, operations, outbound logistics, marketing and sales and service. (Porter, et al 2010) Porter s emphasis point in the worth chain portrayal is that organizations can produce the best overall revenues by accentuating client appreciation in each of these stages. The data for dual roles played by them were as follows; 34% who were both parents and paid workers, 1% were parents and care takers, and 2% were paid workers and care takers. 2% of the individuals in the survey played all three roles, and 18.7% of the individuals had no role to play. It shows that only a small proportion of individuals in midlife combined paid work with consistent care giving or other multiple role configurations. It was found that men and women equally faced the multiple roles. Women were also likely to hold some of the more intense roles than their male counter parts. There is a growing recognition by policymakers of the importance of supporting individuals in juggling work and family life, as reflected in the British government s launch in 2000 of the Work Life Balance Campaign. This aims to encourage employers to introduce more flexible work practices in order to facilitate workers reaching a better equilibrium between work and other spheres of their life (e.g., child or adult caring responsibilities, as well as other interests). After being thrust into a world of uncertainty, he sets off on a search to find his father. Yet, it is quickly apparent that Saber lacks the qualities to be a hero in the traditional sense. While Saber does experience a portion of expected heroic like events, he fails to be a typical hero because of his inability to overcome his transgressions and maintain conventional heroic attributes.
