Macrocosm In Arcadia
Paper 3 A main theme apparent in the play Arcadia is the concept of increasing entropy, the theory that
objects will only decline from structure to chaos. Manifesting this theme through both the motif of
human desire and the devolution of the structure of the play from order to disorder, Tom Stoppard
suggests that the increase of entropy is apparent in microcosms as well as macrocosms. Stoppard uses
human desire to create several relationships that decay over the course of the play as a metaphor for
increasing entropy in the microcosm of Sidley Park. The play first introduces Mrs. Chater as the
woman who was found in carnal embrace with Septimus (2). By starting the play with an affair,
Stoppard introduces the idea that the free will of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At the beginning of the play, the structure of the play is separated into two distinct timelines: one in
the early 1800 s, one in modern day. Stoppard even tells us that The action of the play shuttles back
and forth between the early nineteenth century and the present day (15). However, by the end of the
play in scene 7, the distinction between the two timelines is blurred, with the past merging into the
present as Lord Augustus is chased into the [present day] room by Thomasina (77). The play proceeds
to have both past and present characters interacting on set at the same time, transforming the once
separate timelines into an intricate disorder. Stoppard chooses to structure his play in this way to
parallel the increasing entropy of the characters relationships. Likewise, Stoppard uses the table
present in both timelines as a depiction of increasing entropy on a small scale. At the beginning of the
play, the table only has an old fashioned theodolite and also some other books stacked up , which
symbolizes order (1). However, during the course of the play, the table collects items as characters
from both timelines set items upon it, and by the end of the play contains the geometrical solids, the
computer, decanter, glasses, tea mug, Hannah s research books, Septimus books, the two

Mating Among Seahorse Research Paper
Mating among Seahorses
by
Tina Huang
February 12, 2015 Organisms have participated in mating in order to pass their offspring into another
generation. Mating refers to when animals court and breed each other, an act of reproduction. Male
pregnancy is the norm for seahorses, becoming a part of behavioral evolution. Male parental care has
led to the broad diversity of seahorses or sympatric speciation. Seahorses use assortative mating, also
known as choosing mates based on their body size. The dependency of this type of mating was a
consequence of the monogamous mating system and lifestyle of seahorses. Monogamous pairing is
when marriage is to one entity at a time, compared to bigamy or polygamy. The demonstrated
adaptative differences such as size in the same habitat proves the occurrence of sympatric divergence.
Is that the only factor that influences the rise of new seahorse species? In this paper, I will examine
five studies, from vast areas relating to the mating of seahorses and their patterns of mating behavior,
illustrating its role in sympatric speciation. Altogether these studies demonstrate the uniqueness of
seahorses and provide a new outlook on the diversity that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

How Did Roman Roads Affected Rome
Roads are infrastructure we use every day in conjunction with vehicles to travel around. Roads affect
us daily, just as Roman roads affected the Roman Empire. Roman roads were a crucial part of Rome
because they helped Rome expand their empire, trade easily, and move ideas along. Not only that, but
Roman roads were amazing engineering accomplishments.
Roman roads helped Rome expand and connect the entire empire together. Altogether, Roman roads
stretched about 53,000 miles. The most famous road is the Via Appia. This road is about 38.5 miles
long. Most of these roads were military roads that helped armies move quickly to a destination in
order to attack or defend an area. These roads also allowed supply vehicles filled with food,
equipment, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The road consisted of a trench that was filled with stones, pebbles, rough gravel, broken concrete,
shards of rock, shards of pottery, or. This was the foundation. A foundation was important because a
bad foundation would let the road sag. It was filled tightly and smoother gravel was laid on top. This
made it smooth so that the paving stones would not shake. The paving stones were placed on top and
the center of the road was raised to allow for the drainage of water in rainy weather. Ditches were dug
on the sides of the road to take the water and move it away. Pedestrians would walk on sidewalks,
which were about 1 3 meters in width. These sidewalks were separated from the road by a curb made
of stone slabs. Roads were reinforced and perfected in order for Romans to be able to move quickly.
The average road was about 4.2 meters wide, enough to let two wheeled vehicles pass each other.
Because Romans knew that the shortest distance between two places is a straight line, roads were built
in straight lines, only curving when an obstacle was impossible to pass. To be able to move in a
straight line, Romans built bridges, diverted creeks, cut forests, dug flat areas, drained marshes, cut
into mountainsides, and tunneled through mountains to keep the road straight. Mountain roads
sometimes had ridges help people and animals not slip down the mountain. Other roads might have
grooves to guide wheeled

The Center Of The Earth By Jules Verne A German Writer
Journey to the Center of the Earth is a well known book written by Jules Verne a German writer.
Directors thought it was such a great book that three movies were created because of this. It is a
science fiction, adventure novel, the book is written in first person point of view; viewing the main
character of the book named Axel. Journey to the Center of the Earth takes place in many places, in
the beginning we got to know the characters in the town of Hamburg, Germany. For a couple of
chapters in the middle they were in Iceland in the capital, Reykjavik. After that they were at Sneffels
an extinct volcano that leads to the Center of the Earth, the mood changed a lot throughout the novel
being happy through the beginning, dark in the middle, and serious at the end. At the start of the book
it takes place on May 24, 1863.The setting influences the book because of being in the early times
Jules Verne thought it might had been possible to go to the center of the earth. The theme is telling us
to try something new and not to let your fear hold you back from trying those things.
The characters in the novel are Axel the protagonist he is the nephew of Professor Lidenbrock. Axel is
a round and dynamic, we know a lot about him because he shows that he is scared to go to the center
of the earth and we know that he takes after his uncle because he is an intelligent man, because he
know about the eras of time and all the animals that lived during that time. He is also dynamic because

The Definition Of Allusion Problems
subsection{parameter uniform 2010} There are many papers in the literature dealing with the
numerical approximation of the solution for time dependent singularly perturbed reaction diffusion
problems. In cite{186,188,189}, 1D problems are considered, in cite{185,187} the case of 2D
parabolic problems is analyzed and coupled linear systems are solved in cite{190}. Different
techniques have been used to prove the uniform convergence of the numerical method defined for
each problem. In some papers the totally discrete method is directly considered and the analysis of the
convergence is based on appropriate bounds for the truncation error and the discrete maximum
principle for the totally discrete operator. Nevertheless, this technique ... Show more content on

There exist number of papers where similar problem is studied. In cite{170}, first order uniform
convergence was proved for the central finite difference scheme constructed on a Shishkin mesh; this
result was improved in cite{171} showing that the central difference scheme really is an almost
second order uniformly convergent scheme. In cite{172}, for reaction diffusion systems with an
arbitrary number of equations, second order of uniform convergence of central differences scheme
was proved. In cite{173} the analysis was extended to a parabolic reaction diffusion system of
equations, proving first order uniform convergence for the scheme combining the Euler method in
time and central differences in space. In the context of FEM, up to our knowledge only the $p$ and
$hp $version approximates the solution at an exponential rate of convergence. In cite{174} some
numerical results showing the efficiency of this method were giving for the case of two equations. On
the other hand, in cite{175} an arbitrary number of equations is considered, proving the convergence
in the simpler case of equal diffusion parameters. subsection{Monotone iterative 2011} In cite{191},

A Split Personality Morals Against Corruption
With reality shows taking over airtime nowadays, psychological thrillers in television are a rare genre.
Admittedly, it can be a tasking genre to develop a show around, but Vince Gilligan has managed to
create, quite possibly one of the greatest shows ever, Breaking Bad. In the pilot episode, the audience
was introduced to Walter White, a middle aged high school Chemistry teacher. He sounds like an
average, typical man, but he was introduced in the most peculiar way. Gilligan opened this award
winning show with Walter, underwear clad, holding a pistol, next to a crashed R.V. in the middle of
the desert. The audience questioned ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The newfound distributor turned out to be a sociopath, so in order to protect his identity Walter created
the alias Heisenberg for himself. This was the point when Walter s psychological health began
decaying rapidly. Walter s one wrong turn after another was taking a toll on him and his home life. He
became the man he once hated, a man who his family could no longer trust. His time away from home
living his secret life became extremely suspicious to his wife, Skylar. She knew about his cancer, but
not of his life in the drug realm. In a very intense episode in which Walter was to meet up with this
sociopathic distributor, everything takes a turn for the worst. The distributor takes him prisoner for
almost 48 hours, and almost kills him. This obviously brought concern to his wife, who had no idea
where Walter might be. Once everything had been resolved, Walter made a daring move to reappear
miles away from home, naked, in a supermarket. He told his family, friends, and even doctors that I
blacked out. I don t remember anything for the past 24 hours. These doctors have me on so many pills
that it must be affecting me. (Gilligan S2Ep3). This was the first of many lies Walter would produce in
an attempt to hide his other life. With the deceit, his marriage began to decline because Skylar did not
believe him. However, it was not because of his disappearance why she did not believe him. As Walter
was going into a drug induced sleep at the hospital after he

Change in the Victorian Period. the Role of Women.
Change in the Victorian period. The role of women. The United Kingdom of Great Britain and
Northern Ireland is the country whose rich history covers many periods and eras. It saw its ups and
downs, experienced both hardships and prosperity. It has been the leading power throughout centuries,
with many countries looking up to it and kneeling before it. Still, the echo of its former majesty can be
seen up to the present day. However, it is impossible to describe the periods all at once. It would be
better to single out an era, we are most interested in, and retrospect it, emphasizing a certain aspect.
So, the Victorian period is the one standing in the limelight and capturing most attention. The era,
preceded by the Georgian period and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There were numerous acts protecting the rights of men but almost none for women. Women were
deprived, neglected and usually considered to be the husband s property . Moreover, when women s
rights were violated there wee no institutions they could turn to for help. Men could get the divorce
when a case of adultery occurred, while women could actually get divorced if husband s adultery was
accompanied by cruelty or abuse. Previously, after the divorce all possessions went to husbands
leaving wives poor and deprived of everything. During the Victorian period some acts were passed
that changed the position of women in the society considerably. From than on, women were allowed
to keep their property. Nevertheless, even though women in the Victorian period didn t get all the
rights and freedoms they claimed for, the necessary steps were made to ensure the stable position of
females in the society. Observing the mentioned facts, we can say for sure that during the prominent
Victorian era women got more independence, social recognition and respect from the opposite sex.
Still, a lot was yet to be done. [ 2 ]. According to the statistics taken from the website

to ensure goods with an organic seal are controlled and distributed as uniformly as possible, and they
take every complaint with a heavy hand to keep irregularities to a minimum. In 1990, the USDA was
instructed to establish uniform national standards for organic food and farming, fixing the definition of
a word that had always meant different things to different people (Pollan 154). Since then the term
organic has been manipulated and distorted by large companies in order to push their products to as
big a market as possible, leaving consumers dazed and confused about the actual standards of the
foods they were purchasing. Often times, the true meaning of the extravagant or misleading words on
the packaging is hard to translate for the average consumer organic being no different. The seal that

that stamp nor is the USDA very forthcoming about the actual meaning of the word organic. Any

Because our nervous system is wired to need others, rejection is painful. Romantic rejection especially
hurts and missing connection share the evolutionary purpose of survival and reproduction. Ideally,
loneliness should encourage you reach out to others and maintain your relationships.
A UCLA study confirms that sensitivity to emotional pain resides in the same area of the brain as
physical pain they can hurt equally. Our reaction to pain is influenced by genetics. If we have
increased sensitivity to physical pain, we re more vulnerable to feelings of rejection. Moreover, love
stimulates such strong feel good neuro chemicals that rejection can feel like withdrawal from a drug,
says anthropologist Helen Fisher. It can compel us to engage in obsessive thinking and compulsive
behavior. This proved true even for tsetse flies in lab experiments.

Phantom, a very popular comics superhero is adapted in various forms of media including, television,

deep woods of Africa but also in the urbanscapes wherever crime looms large. The Phantom series
first came out in the daily newspaper strips on seventeenth February, 1936, was followed by a colour

After the publication of Phantom, the aspects of colonial / postcolonial, ethnic / Eurocentric
discourses, which were almost forgotten, began to pop up as in those belts of Australia where there
were aboriginal settlements for whom Phantom became an icon and thus they loved to read these
comics and idolise their hero. But the truth is that the brutalities of European settlement in Australia is
kept under the pretext of Terra Nullius2 and a peaceful process which finds its apt expression through
the Phantom comics where the white man s arrival and settlement on a non European space and
building an empire is related in a way of cross cultural interaction, intimacy and hospitality.
In colonial and post colonial British literature the phantom or ghost is a recurrent figure that
symbolises the repressed trauma attendant to colonisation that haunts protagonists in novels such as
Defoe s Robinson Crusoe and Brontes juvenilia. The famous comic strip The Phantom by Lee Falk
naturalised this figure, making him into a normal man who fabricated a belief in his immortality.
Referred to as The Ghost Who Walks, his headquarters was in a cave, which also contained his vast
treasure. The Phantom ruled the natives of Africa and India, who superstitiously believed that he was a
white god who had lived for centuries. In 1525, the first Phantom swore an oath to fight the pirates
who had killed his father and to battle all evil. Each subsequent

Essay on The Effects of Domestic Violence on Child Behavior
The Effects of Domestic Violence on Child Behavior The United States Department of Health and
Human Services found parents and other caretakers mistreat 900,000 children in the case of child
abuse (as cited in Moylan et al., 2010). Children can be abused directly or indirectly. Indirect abuse
can be exposure to violence enacted by the mother or father towards each other (Baldry, 2007). As for
direct abuse, this can include physical, sexual or psychological abuse done personally to the child.
Research conducted by Jaffe, Sudermann, Reitzel, and McDonald Jouriles, shows that children
growing up in a family that displays violence are at increased risk behavior problems (as cited in

Sternberg et al., (1993) found that there is some evidence that children who are victims and/or
witnesses of domestic violence have more social and emotional problems than their non abused .
Some children can be shy and stay way from adults and other children. They can be physically abused
and feel that because their parents hurt them other adults can hurt them also. Other children exposed to
abuse might take out the abuse on other children. They start bullying children in the neighborhood or
children in their classroom. Some children might feel that because they see violence at home that it is
all right for them to so violence in other setting. Bulling is a big issue in schools. It does not mean that
bullies come from domestic homes, but it s might be one of the reasons. Another way a child might act
out due to abuse is getting in trouble with the law. They might start hanging out with the wrong group
of people and doing things that is frowned upon by authorities. They do not care about what happens
to them and do what their friends think is all right. They release their behavior with violence. They

a palimpsest of memories, of which every wall has markings from different decades, and every altar

Estrogen vs Progestrone
Estrogen ( the female sex hormone ) dominance happens when there is too much estrogen in the body
. For most cancers the first clinical screening involves testing of estrogen dominance . Generally
estrogen dominance is coupled with decrease in the hormone progesterone. Our body produces both
but because of various reasons there is a disturbance .When we are stressed it affects our nervous
system and along with our endocrine system. Our body produces both but once there is a disturbance
and if we continue taking estrogen rich foods we will disrupt the endocrine system more and this can
cause the risk of cancer.
Xenoestrogen / Phytoestrogen means foreign estrogen or from outside the body.
In my case I believe excess of estrogen could have been the cause of Adenomyosis or at least it can
aggravate the situation so would recommend avoiding products with xenoestrogen and including

Hyperplasia is a condition in which the lining of the uterus becomes too thick, which results in
abnormal bleeding. Hyperplasia is thought to be caused by too much estrogen.
Depending on your age and how long you have had hyperplasia, your doctor may want to do a biopsy
before beginning treatment to rule out cancer.
How is hyperplasia treated?
Hormone treatment with birth control pills or progesterone helps some women who have hyperplasia.
Hysterectomy is often recommended to treat hyperplasia. Because some types of hyperplasia can lead
to cancer, your doctor will watch your condition carefully if you choose not to have a hysterectomy.

Marco Polo s Views On Christianity And Other Religion
Marco Polo, who was possibly the most famous European to visit China while under Mongol rule, left
Venice in 1271 and did not return until 1295. Khubilai Khan was a grandson of Chinggis Khan and
eventually became the fifth Great Khan of the Mongol Empire. This analysis will discuss what Marco
Polo experienced while visiting China concerning Khubailai s views on Christianity and other
religions. Like all Mongols, Khubilai traveled depending on the season. In this primary source
document, he was traveling back to Khanbalik to celebrate Easter with the Christians during the
months of February and March knowing it was the most significant feast of all. However, he did so

The Shortcomings Of The Diagnostic And Statistical Manual...
There is a lot of public outcry for the repeal of this defence. However, this would only lead to more
problems than answers. So long as there are mentally ill individuals in society, this defence is
warranted despite any of its deficiencies. For individuals experience some form of mental illness who
come into contact with the criminal justice system, this defence allows them to attain the counselling
and treatment they require. Before a verdict can be rendered, the courts administer a rigorous test and
ensure that those individuals who gain the benefit of this defence truly deserve it. The defence of not
criminally responsible remains very pertinent in today s society simply because society recognizes a
need to differentiate a true criminal from one who does not intend the consequences of his or her
actions. However, there are many misconceptions and issues in how the defence is administered that
need to be addressed to make this defence more available and effective to those who seek it. Within
this essay, the deficiencies of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM) will
be discussed in an attempt to demonstrate the flaws in the current apparatus used and relied on by
psychiatrists when making assessments regarding criminal responsibility. Under the current standards
and the dependence on the DSM IV may lead to an under use of the insanity defence rather than an
overuse. In general, this paper will examine the use and availability of the not

Oedipus The King Fate Essay
COLLAPSE
I believe fate is an unavoidable and often an unfortunate outcome. Fate is the belief that all events are
determined by the divine will or by some force greater than man, that every event must take place as it
does because it has been predetermined. Not a bible word or teaching. The Greeks believed that fate
should be accepted because it ultimately cannot be avoided.
In the Greek tragedy, Oedipus the King, the irony of fate brings the downfall of Oedipus. Fate, in this
story affects three specific characters. The gods have already decreed Oedipus and Jocasta s fate even
before they know it. Their fate was in fact decreed the day they were born, and trying to avoid seems
to have been pointless.
Oedipus unsuccessfully tries to change his fate. An oracle has confirmed that his destiny is to marry
his mother and kill his father. That s why they tie his legs with a strong roof and order a shepherd to
keep him on the pick of the mountain so that the beasts of the mountain eat him. He does everything
he can to change that fate, but because of his parents actions in ordering him killed as an infant; his
knowledge of the people who ve raised him as parents is incorrect. All in all, he had no say in his fate
and was incapable of changing anything. Thus, we have our tragedy. ... Show more content on

Health Insurance Persuasive Essay
In previous months, before the current President (Trump) tried to alter ObamaCare, ObamaCare
actually made it that health insurance companies had to increase their prices. Premium coverage for
one person is averaged at $321 per month, and for people that can get subsidies, the plan can range
from $153 $498. And that s not even including the medical bills and deductibles. (See source 7.)
Thankfully, students at BYU Idaho are granted the chance to pay for a student health insurance plan,
making visits relatively cheap. ($10 co pay on campus, prescriptions quite cheap, and $20 co pay off
campus.) Even so, with how cheap this insurance and some other insurance can be, there are people
that simply cannot afford the bill.
Along with the insurance, most people cannot afford the bill of $50 $240 for a one hour therapy
session to help treat the disorder. The range of prescriptions that can help treat anxiety and panic
disorder also help with depression, and those pups come to be about $21 $1000 depending on what the
person needs. (See source 8.) There is also the option of getting an emotional service animal and the

No, what I am suggesting is an open and honest market to help those that need the help for their
medical bill. Imagine if a branch of a clothing market in every state decided to donate 20% of their
local earnings to people within the state to help them get on track? Now, I am not suggesting every

Here Dead We Lie By Alfred Edward Housman
The poem Here dead we lie , by Alfred Edward Housman, is about young soldiers who died fighting
in the war for their country. Many soldiers died because they chose not to coward away and watch the
war from the distance. Instead they sacrificed their young life to fight. They thought there is nothing
much to lose, yet they still chose to die for their country because it was a worthy and honorable thing
to do. Perhaps by Vera Brittain is a poem dedicated to her fiancé, who was killed in the war in 1915.

Defiance is a movie written, directed and produced by Edward Zwick. This movie s setting is in Nazi

The director pulls the viewer into the struggle to survive and what it feels like to be hunted like
animals. Hearing of the dissident Bielskis, other Jewish refugees begin to come to join the camp.
Unable to provide for themselves adequately, the brothers argue over how they will take care of a
growing colony of people, Zwick builds in tension between the Bielskis in an ever increasing fashion
leading the moviegoer to wonder when the breaking point will come and that it does. Anyone with
siblings can relate to this pressure cooker atmosphere when you have just had enough. There is a battle
between savage and civility, both inside the camp and outside. The eldest Bielski sets the tone for the
behavior for those within his camp stating, [w]e may be hunted like animals, but we will not become
animals (Zwick, Defiance). Tensions continue to rise to the point of an altercation, leading to a
separation in the Bielski clan Zus joins the Russian army rebels who are also hiding out in the forest.
The director shows the stark difference between the brothers when it comes to taking a life, Tuvia
going out of his way not to pull the trigger and Zus not hesitating one second. Both are leaders but
with differing views of what being a leader means. The winter came, and brought with it sickness,
strife, starvation, death and more Jewish refugees. Many undertones are laid equating Tuvia to Moses

Palestine Water Changes
On May 4, 1948, the Middle East changed as we knew it. Israel had become an official nation in the
land where Palestinians once resided. Jewish people needed a place to reside after the persecution of
over six million Jews. The British government, because it was in control of Palestine, allowed the
Jewish people to reside in Palestine. This caused great tensions in the Middle East. In 1948 1949,
there was a war between Israel and the Arab states. This war resulted in 700,000 Palestinian refugees.
The Palestine Israel conflict has been in effect since May 15, 1948. In 1967, Israel controlled 78% of
what was Palestine, and the number is even higher today. (http://auphr.org/index.php/news/5100

is disobeying this order by keeping and even gaining what once was Palestine. The Israel Palestine

Automatic Active phase selector
Abstract:
Phase absence is a very common and severe problem in any industry, home or office. Many times one
or two phases may not be live in three phase supply. Because of this, many times, some electrical
appliances will be on in one room and OFF in another room. This creates a big disturbance to our
routine work.
This project is designed to check the availability of any live phase, and the load will be connected to
the particular live phase only. Even a single phase is available, and then also, the load will be in ON
condition.
The aim of this project is to construct a single phasing monitor and prevention system using 8bit
microcontroller. Anti single phasing relays or single phasing preventer are required for critical loads

This chapter includes general information related to the main subject of this project which is a fogging
system. How does the system work?
The working principle of the fog cooling system can be summarized as this system utilizes very high
pressure water about 1000 psi or 70 pars which occurred from a pump with high quality and delivery
lines to create a very fine droplets size nearly 10 micron from specifically designed nozzles. Then,
these fine droplets are quickly evaporated and absorbed the heat found in the air. In order to offer an
excellent cooling; fog cooling systems use something called flash evaporation (Giacomelli, 2003). Fog

For better performance, cooling fans sometimes are added for the purpose of air circulation in closed
areas, where the expected temperature will differ based on the climatic conditions, where cooling to
12°C is possible under the best circumstances (Yuwana et al., 2011). Evaporative Cooling
Fog evaporative cooling system is similar to the conventional misting system in many aspects. But it
works at a much higher pressure reached to (1000 2000 lb in 2; 7000 14000 kPa) and tiny nozzles with
(1.2 gal hr 1; 4.5 L hr 1) volume. The tiny droplets can evaporate more quickly and efficiently, the
evaporation rate is influenced also by the area of the surface, where the relation between them is
proportionally. High quality filtration and water systems are necessary for reducing the clogging
nozzles problem (Giacomelli, 2003).
The evaporative cooling system is usually consisted of two lengths of fog nozzles (0.5 in; 1.3 cm)
PVC pipe diameter. The nozzles may be made of high pressure, stainless steel and it could produce a
water droplets or fog with 0.2 mm diameter at (1.3 ml s 1 ;1.2 gal hr 1) flow rate and (3450 kPa ;500
lb in 2) pressure. The effectiveness of cooling is defined as the ratio of the reduction of the immediate
inner dry bulb air temperature to the depression of the inner wet bulb, before fogging, is determined
and calculated to 50% 70%. thus, if the

Analysis Of Des Cannibales By Montaigne
This extract from Montaigne s Des Cannibales is found near the beginning of the essay. It is pivotal in
setting the precedent for the rest of the essay since it establishes how Montaigne came to his
viewpoints on the Tupinambá since they are different to those held by many of his contemporaries.
When Montaigne wrote, people were only beginning to learn about other areas of the world. People on
the whole had not travelled and so held ethnocentric views regarding culture. They failed to
understand the people of the New World, thus labeled them as sauvage and barbare something which
Montaigne challenges in this essay, and specifically sets out in this extract.
In the first part of this extract, Montaigne considers how one can obtain the most reliable information
on the New World. He wants to avoid creating stereotypes and prejudices, thus aspires to get the most
accurate information. Lines 1 2 of this passage demonstrate Montaigne s use of employing syntax to
highlight his ideas. By describing his servant as simple et grossier in the first clause of the sentence,
Montaigne s readers instinctive response to this description may be to assume that, due to his lack of
education or status, his view may not be of much value. The references to great philosophers such as
Plato and Aristotle throughout the essay could certainly be considered to make the opinions of a plain
and ignorant man seem irrelevant. However, true to his style throughout Des Cannibales , Montaigne

Carnegie, the Selfish Philanthropist
Andrew Carnegie, The Selfish Philanthropist
Andrew Carnegie, born on November 25, 1835, was a Scottish philanthropist who was one of the
richest men in America in the 1900 s. I completely agree with Carnegie s opinion of how the rich
should donate their money toward the good of mankind before they die, but disagree with his actions
toward his workers . He started working in a cotton mill making $1.20 a week only to upgrade to
$2.20 working as a messenger boy. He eventually taught himself telegraphy and worked as Thomas A.
Scott s assistant for $35 a month. He moved on to investing, with the help from his mentor Scott, in
the Woodruff Sleeping Car Company and several small iron mills and factories. He was so successful

This also prevents the family member or the heirs of the inheritance to be spoiled. Carnegie had a
great point for doing this. For some strange reason, Carnegie cut the wages of his steel workers while
at the same time putting money toward public programs that would benefit mankind. He even stated
that he could put more use of that money than the workers ever could, which is ridiculously egotistical
and rude. By not giving his workers a fair wage, he was hurting the economy. Our economy is based
off of consumers spending their money. In my honest opinion, I think Carnegie is a selfish attention
seeking mastermind. He seems very sensitive to what other people think of him. Don t get me wrong,
he sounds like a nice, caring, and independent man. His intentions though, are outweighed by the
means and basis for his profit: unfair and underpaid labor. The money that he made from his steel
factory was ironically against his giving attitude that he was trying to generate. I think that after he
realized that he would never have to worry about his financial situation ever again, he focused on
becoming a public figure and cared about the public opinion of himself. An example to prove this
would be how he reacted to the steel strikes. While he was visiting Scotland, his next in command
(Henry Clay Frick) replaced all of the strikers with immigrants. This action is said to have caused the
death of 10 men. Carnegie took the

sales are outside the United States. DuPont is one of Dow s major competitors worldwide and is the
second largest chemical company in the United States [E I du Pont, 2015] and [Investor Relations,

article outlines the challenges DuPont is dealing with as a decline in sales and disagreements amongst
shareholders. DuPont is blaming much of their troubles on the increase value of the U.S. dollar and
foreign currency translations. Shareholders believe that now is the time to streamline their processes
and spin off DuPont into 4 different companies [DuPont Forecast, 2015]. Financial Statements
retrieved from Market Watch support the articles claim that DuPont sales are declining. DuPont has
seen their sales growth decline to a negative 2.87% and their cost of goods sold growth decline to a
negative 16.65% [DuPont Financial, 2015].
Dow s Strategic Plan Dow Chemical is known best for acquiring other companies. In October, 2014

  • 2. Macrocosm In Arcadia Paper 3 A main theme apparent in the play Arcadia is the concept of increasing entropy, the theory that objects will only decline from structure to chaos. Manifesting this theme through both the motif of human desire and the devolution of the structure of the play from order to disorder, Tom Stoppard suggests that the increase of entropy is apparent in microcosms as well as macrocosms. Stoppard uses human desire to create several relationships that decay over the course of the play as a metaphor for increasing entropy in the microcosm of Sidley Park. The play first introduces Mrs. Chater as the woman who was found in carnal embrace with Septimus (2). By starting the play with an affair, Stoppard introduces the idea that the free will of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... At the beginning of the play, the structure of the play is separated into two distinct timelines: one in the early 1800 s, one in modern day. Stoppard even tells us that The action of the play shuttles back and forth between the early nineteenth century and the present day (15). However, by the end of the play in scene 7, the distinction between the two timelines is blurred, with the past merging into the present as Lord Augustus is chased into the [present day] room by Thomasina (77). The play proceeds to have both past and present characters interacting on set at the same time, transforming the once separate timelines into an intricate disorder. Stoppard chooses to structure his play in this way to parallel the increasing entropy of the characters relationships. Likewise, Stoppard uses the table present in both timelines as a depiction of increasing entropy on a small scale. At the beginning of the play, the table only has an old fashioned theodolite and also some other books stacked up , which symbolizes order (1). However, during the course of the play, the table collects items as characters from both timelines set items upon it, and by the end of the play contains the geometrical solids, the computer, decanter, glasses, tea mug, Hannah s research books, Septimus books, the two ... • 3. Mating Among Seahorse Research Paper Mating among Seahorses by Tina Huang February 12, 2015 Organisms have participated in mating in order to pass their offspring into another generation. Mating refers to when animals court and breed each other, an act of reproduction. Male pregnancy is the norm for seahorses, becoming a part of behavioral evolution. Male parental care has led to the broad diversity of seahorses or sympatric speciation. Seahorses use assortative mating, also known as choosing mates based on their body size. The dependency of this type of mating was a consequence of the monogamous mating system and lifestyle of seahorses. Monogamous pairing is when marriage is to one entity at a time, compared to bigamy or polygamy. The demonstrated adaptative differences such as size in the same habitat proves the occurrence of sympatric divergence. Is that the only factor that influences the rise of new seahorse species? In this paper, I will examine five studies, from vast areas relating to the mating of seahorses and their patterns of mating behavior, illustrating its role in sympatric speciation. Altogether these studies demonstrate the uniqueness of seahorses and provide a new outlook on the diversity that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 4. How Did Roman Roads Affected Rome Roads are infrastructure we use every day in conjunction with vehicles to travel around. Roads affect us daily, just as Roman roads affected the Roman Empire. Roman roads were a crucial part of Rome because they helped Rome expand their empire, trade easily, and move ideas along. Not only that, but Roman roads were amazing engineering accomplishments. Roman roads helped Rome expand and connect the entire empire together. Altogether, Roman roads stretched about 53,000 miles. The most famous road is the Via Appia. This road is about 38.5 miles long. Most of these roads were military roads that helped armies move quickly to a destination in order to attack or defend an area. These roads also allowed supply vehicles filled with food, equipment, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The road consisted of a trench that was filled with stones, pebbles, rough gravel, broken concrete, shards of rock, shards of pottery, or. This was the foundation. A foundation was important because a bad foundation would let the road sag. It was filled tightly and smoother gravel was laid on top. This made it smooth so that the paving stones would not shake. The paving stones were placed on top and the center of the road was raised to allow for the drainage of water in rainy weather. Ditches were dug on the sides of the road to take the water and move it away. Pedestrians would walk on sidewalks, which were about 1 3 meters in width. These sidewalks were separated from the road by a curb made of stone slabs. Roads were reinforced and perfected in order for Romans to be able to move quickly. The average road was about 4.2 meters wide, enough to let two wheeled vehicles pass each other. Because Romans knew that the shortest distance between two places is a straight line, roads were built in straight lines, only curving when an obstacle was impossible to pass. To be able to move in a straight line, Romans built bridges, diverted creeks, cut forests, dug flat areas, drained marshes, cut into mountainsides, and tunneled through mountains to keep the road straight. Mountain roads sometimes had ridges help people and animals not slip down the mountain. Other roads might have grooves to guide wheeled ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Center Of The Earth By Jules Verne A German Writer Journey to the Center of the Earth is a well known book written by Jules Verne a German writer. Directors thought it was such a great book that three movies were created because of this. It is a science fiction, adventure novel, the book is written in first person point of view; viewing the main character of the book named Axel. Journey to the Center of the Earth takes place in many places, in the beginning we got to know the characters in the town of Hamburg, Germany. For a couple of chapters in the middle they were in Iceland in the capital, Reykjavik. After that they were at Sneffels an extinct volcano that leads to the Center of the Earth, the mood changed a lot throughout the novel being happy through the beginning, dark in the middle, and serious at the end. At the start of the book it takes place on May 24, 1863.The setting influences the book because of being in the early times Jules Verne thought it might had been possible to go to the center of the earth. The theme is telling us to try something new and not to let your fear hold you back from trying those things. The characters in the novel are Axel the protagonist he is the nephew of Professor Lidenbrock. Axel is a round and dynamic, we know a lot about him because he shows that he is scared to go to the center of the earth and we know that he takes after his uncle because he is an intelligent man, because he know about the eras of time and all the animals that lived during that time. • 6. The Definition Of Allusion Problems subsection{parameter uniform 2010} There are many papers in the literature dealing with the numerical approximation of the solution for time dependent singularly perturbed reaction diffusion problems. In cite{186,188,189}, 1D problems are considered, in cite{185,187} the case of 2D parabolic problems is analyzed and coupled linear systems are solved in cite{190}. Different techniques have been used to prove the uniform convergence of the numerical method defined for each problem. In some papers the totally discrete method is directly considered and the analysis of the convergence is based on appropriate bounds for the truncation error and the discrete maximum principle for the totally discrete operator. Nevertheless, this technique ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There exist number of papers where similar problem is studied. In cite{170}, first order uniform convergence was proved for the central finite difference scheme constructed on a Shishkin mesh; this result was improved in cite{171} showing that the central difference scheme really is an almost second order uniformly convergent scheme. In cite{172}, for reaction diffusion systems with an arbitrary number of equations, second order of uniform convergence of central differences scheme was proved. In cite{173} the analysis was extended to a parabolic reaction diffusion system of equations, proving first order uniform convergence for the scheme combining the Euler method in time and central differences in space. In the context of FEM, up to our knowledge only the $p$ and $hp $version approximates the solution at an exponential rate of convergence. In cite{174} some numerical results showing the efficiency of this method were giving for the case of two equations. On the other hand, in cite{175} an arbitrary number of equations is considered, proving the convergence in the simpler case of equal diffusion parameters. subsection{Monotone iterative 2011} In cite{191}, a monotone iterative methods for solving semilinear singularly perturbed parabolic problem is presented. Rhetorical Analysis Walter White Nick L Italien Ms. McClain English 123 January 29, 2013 A Split Personality Morals Against Corruption With reality shows taking over airtime nowadays, psychological thrillers in television are a rare genre. Admittedly, it can be a tasking genre to develop a show around, but Vince Gilligan has managed to create, quite possibly one of the greatest shows ever, Breaking Bad. In the pilot episode, the audience was introduced to Walter White, a middle aged high school Chemistry teacher. He sounds like an average, typical man, but he was introduced in the most peculiar way. The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland is the country whose rich history covers many periods and eras. It saw its ups and downs, experienced both hardships and prosperity. It has been the leading power throughout centuries, with many countries looking up to it and kneeling before it. Still, the echo of its former majesty can be seen up to the present day. However, it is impossible to describe the periods all at once. It would be better to single out an era, we are most interested in, and retrospect it, emphasizing a certain aspect. Now, I am not suggesting every department store in the nation jump on this idea (however, I do think it is a good idea to use during that holiday season), but maybe taking it to a smaller ... • 27. Here Dead We Lie By Alfred Edward Housman The poem Here dead we lie , by Alfred Edward Housman, is about young soldiers who died fighting in the war for their country. Many soldiers died because they chose not to coward away and watch the war from the distance. Instead they sacrificed their young life to fight. They thought there is nothing much to lose, yet they still chose to die for their country because it was a worthy and honorable thing to do. Perhaps by Vera Brittain is a poem dedicated to her fiancé, who was killed in the war in 1915. She explains how time has passed, and her thoughts about getting over her fiancé s death. Anyone with siblings can relate to this pressure cooker atmosphere when you have just had enough. There is a battle between savage and civility, both inside the camp and outside. The eldest Bielski sets the tone for the behavior for those within his camp stating, [w]e may be hunted like animals, but we will not become animals (Zwick, Defiance). Tensions continue to rise to the point of an altercation, leading to a separation in the Bielski clan Zus joins the Russian army rebels who are also hiding out in the forest. The director shows the stark difference between the brothers when it comes to taking a life, Tuvia going out of his way not to pull the trigger and Zus not hesitating one second. Both are leaders but with differing views of what being a leader means. The winter came, and brought with it sickness, strife, starvation, death and more Jewish refugees. • 29. Palestine Water Changes On May 4, 1948, the Middle East changed as we knew it. Israel had become an official nation in the land where Palestinians once resided. Jewish people needed a place to reside after the persecution of over six million Jews. The British government, because it was in control of Palestine, allowed the Jewish people to reside in Palestine. This caused great tensions in the Middle East. In 1948 1949, there was a war between Israel and the Arab states. This war resulted in 700,000 Palestinian refugees. The Palestine Israel conflict has been in effect since May 15, 1948. In 1967, Israel controlled 78% of what was Palestine, and the number is even higher today. (http://auphr.org/index.php/news/5100 palestinian loss of land 1946 2012) Auphr (Americans ... Safety, peace, and terrorism is a huge topic that is occurring in the Middle East. Sadly, Palestine faces terrorism and risks safety everyday. • 30. Automatic Active phase selector Abstract: Phase absence is a very common and severe problem in any industry, home or office. Many times one or two phases may not be live in three phase supply. Because of this, many times, some electrical appliances will be on in one room and OFF in another room. This creates a big disturbance to our routine work. This project is designed to check the availability of any live phase, and the load will be connected to the particular live phase only. Even a single phase is available, and then also, the load will be in ON condition. The aim of this project is to construct a single phasing monitor and prevention system using 8bit microcontroller. • 32. This chapter includes general information related to the... This chapter includes general information related to the main subject of this project which is a fogging system. How does the system work? The working principle of the fog cooling system can be summarized as this system utilizes very high pressure water about 1000 psi or 70 pars which occurred from a pump with high quality and delivery lines to create a very fine droplets size nearly 10 micron from specifically designed nozzles. Then, these fine droplets are quickly evaporated and absorbed the heat found in the air. In order to offer an excellent cooling; fog cooling systems use something called flash evaporation (Giacomelli, 2003). Fog Evaporative cooling According to Al Amri, (2000) evaporative cooling is the chill that the person ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For better performance, cooling fans sometimes are added for the purpose of air circulation in closed areas, where the expected temperature will differ based on the climatic conditions, where cooling to 12°C is possible under the best circumstances (Yuwana et al., 2011). Evaporative Cooling Fog evaporative cooling system is similar to the conventional misting system in many aspects. But it works at a much higher pressure reached to (1000 2000 lb in 2; 7000 14000 kPa) and tiny nozzles with (1.2 gal hr 1; 4.5 L hr 1) volume. The tiny droplets can evaporate more quickly and efficiently, the evaporation rate is influenced also by the area of the surface, where the relation between them is proportionally. High quality filtration and water systems are necessary for reducing the clogging nozzles problem (Giacomelli, 2003). The evaporative cooling system is usually consisted of two lengths of fog nozzles (0.5 in; 1.3 cm) PVC pipe diameter. The nozzles may be made of high pressure, stainless steel and it could produce a water droplets or fog with 0.2 mm diameter at (1.3 ml s 1 ;1.2 gal hr 1) flow rate and (3450 kPa ;500 lb in 2) pressure. The effectiveness of cooling is defined as the ratio of the reduction of the immediate inner dry bulb air temperature to the depression of the inner wet bulb, before fogging, is determined and calculated to 50% 70%. thus, if the ... • 33. Analysis Of Des Cannibales By Montaigne This extract from Montaigne s Des Cannibales is found near the beginning of the essay. It is pivotal in setting the precedent for the rest of the essay since it establishes how Montaigne came to his viewpoints on the Tupinambá since they are different to those held by many of his contemporaries. When Montaigne wrote, people were only beginning to learn about other areas of the world. People on the whole had not travelled and so held ethnocentric views regarding culture. They failed to understand the people of the New World, thus labeled them as sauvage and barbare something which Montaigne challenges in this essay, and specifically sets out in this extract. In the first part of this extract, Montaigne considers how one can obtain the most reliable information on the New World. He wants to avoid creating stereotypes and prejudices, thus aspires to get the most accurate information. Lines 1 2 of this passage demonstrate Montaigne s use of employing syntax to highlight his ideas. By describing his servant as simple et grossier in the first clause of the sentence, Montaigne s readers instinctive response to this description may be to assume that, due to his lack of education or status, his view may not be of much value. The references to great philosophers such as Plato and Aristotle throughout the essay could certainly be considered to make the opinions of a plain and ignorant man seem irrelevant. However, true to his style throughout Des Cannibales , Montaigne ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Carnegie, the Selfish Philanthropist Andrew Carnegie, The Selfish Philanthropist Andrew Carnegie, born on November 25, 1835, was a Scottish philanthropist who was one of the richest men in America in the 1900 s. I completely agree with Carnegie s opinion of how the rich should donate their money toward the good of mankind before they die, but disagree with his actions toward his workers . He started working in a cotton mill making $1.20 a week only to upgrade to $2.20 working as a messenger boy. He eventually taught himself telegraphy and worked as Thomas A. Carnegie had a great point for doing this. For some strange reason, Carnegie cut the wages of his steel workers while at the same time putting money toward public programs that would benefit mankind. He even stated that he could put more use of that money than the workers ever could, which is ridiculously egotistical and rude. By not giving his workers a fair wage, he was hurting the economy. Our economy is based off of consumers spending their money. In my honest opinion, I think Carnegie is a selfish attention seeking mastermind. He seems very sensitive to what other people think of him. Don t get me wrong, he sounds like a nice, caring, and independent man. His intentions though, are outweighed by the means and basis for his profit: unfair and underpaid labor. The money that he made from his steel factory was ironically against his giving attitude that he was trying to generate. I think that after he realized that he would never have to worry about his financial situation ever again, he focused on becoming a public figure and cared about the public opinion of himself. An example to prove this would be how he reacted to the steel strikes. While he was visiting Scotland, his next in command (Henry Clay Frick) replaced all of the strikers with immigrants. This action is said to have caused the death of 10 men. Carnegie took the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
