Analysis Of The Book Hello Latasha
Hello Latasha, I hope everything is well with your son and I understand your lack of posting because I
believe family comes first no matter what. I am happy to see that the brownie is back in the story and
you have done a great job switching between first and third person. I am still in love with the first
sentence because it really draws you into the story and makes the reader understand exactly how the
mood is feeling. It also shows the reader a glimpse into the setting and what kind of conditions this
place had. There were a couple of mechanical things I would like to point out to you that I feel can be
fixed easily with a good reread. The first thing I noticed was the story switches between past and
present tense; something I tend to do all the time and can easily be read over, but can be confusing for
some readers. The second thing I noticed was a bunch of run on sentences that created paragraphs;
what I mean is that it may look like a paragraph, but it s actually two very long sentences that can be
cut down into shorter sentences. The last mechanical thing I noticed was some punctuation and
grammar errors that can be spotted with a grammar website like Paperrater or Grammerly. I am #1
when it comes to screwing up grammar and punctuation so I use both of them to check my piece and
even then I still miss stuff. Usually at that point I hand it off to my sister. Have a family member,
friend, coworker or even stranger read your piece you will get and idea of where

Review Of Nineteen Eighty Four And The Film Adaptation
A literary adaptation is defined as a composition that has been recast into a new form e.g novel, play
or screen production . (Ross, 2009, p.5) It has been noted that almost a third of all film productions
ever created were based on novel adaptations, and in today s contemporary society the book to film
adaptation cycle is more present than ever. Although this could to seen as an innocent move allowing
great texts to be more approachable and appreciated by modern culture, it has been argued that the
process damages the original content and understanding that is taken from the source material. By
discussing and analysing some of the main factors and issues filmmakers use when adapting a text to
film, based on the article Adaptation: ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Extreme totalitarian ideology, government surveillance and the always present big brother watch over
all, individuality and even the English language face the verge of extinction to make way for
newspeak , a thoughtless and almost brain dead bureaucratic dialectal fit for this dystopia. The novel
centres on Winston Smith, an outer party worker who begins to question the motives of the ruling
dictatorship that is the inner party . The story is narrated through a third person perspective that
accounts the lives of the characters and events occurring around them. The text is filled with intense
and thought provoking scenarios that relate heavily to the main character Winston. Various snippets
throughout the text create and shape the foundation that is Winston s life from beginning to present,
understanding his character is fundamental as the story is built around him, his past, his personality
and his every quirk. The world George Orwell has created is filled with perplexing meaning and
within each paragraph of this 355 page novel an important message can be found, making it a
influential and powerful book of it s time and even today. Filmmakers have been adapting novels for
over a century, but how have they been able to transpose stories to the extent that the audience can
recognize the novel (Desmond Hawkes, 2006). This is a question often posed when addressing the
adaptation of text to screen. How can

Peter Olson s Ceramic Art
It is not unusual for ceramicists to employ photography as a means of documenting their works, yet
Philadelphia based artist Peter Olson s method of incorporating these two media on his exquisite clay
creations is arguably previously unseen. In each of his work, the artist cleverly unfolds a pleasant
surprise. As the audience closely examines Olson s signature kaleidoscopic surface decoration which
bears a resemblance to motifs found on Islamic artifacts and Greek vessels, images of modern streets
and people appear where floral design and mythological beings are expected to be. Photo Ceramica is
a refreshing meld of photography and ceramic art; the works showcased in the show represent nothing
less than the best of both worlds. More than 40 pieces, including bowls, marionettes, tiles, and large
urns takes over the 3,200 square feet gallery space at The American Museum of Ceramic Art
(AMOCA). Assisting them is a long wall of photos originally taken by Olsen to be used as design
elements. The exhibit plan is resolved so that visitors have a chance to visually experience the
production of the artist s works from the very beginning. Olson s process begins with printing and
cutting out individual subjects from his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Herakles And The Erymanthian Boar Analysis
Herakles and the Erymanthian Boar Amphora The Herakles and the Erymanthian Boar is displayed at
The Walters Art Museum under the accession number 48.253. The design on this piece is black with
the background having a red color. This piece was found in Athens, Greece and it dates back to 520
B.C.E. Surprisingly, after all these years, it is still in great condition. It is a storage jar with a height of
16.8125 inches and a diameter of 11.1875 inches. What was the importance of this storage jar and
what does it tell us about the Ancient Greek culture? The Herakles and the Erymanthian Boar is a neck
amphora. Neck amphorae were characterized as storage jars with necks narrower than the body. They
were used for storing and transporting wine and oil. (Encyclopedia Britannica) At the top of the
amphorae were circular openings, or mouths, in which the wine or oil was poured or drained. Herakles
and the Erymanthian Boar is a terracotta jar with a black circular mouth which leads to the neck. On
the neck, there is a repetitive black floral design which stands out well against the color of the reddish
terracotta background. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Herakles amphora is mostly composed of terracotta. Amphorae were made using a potter s wheel
(Hampden Sydney College). The body and the neck were thrown separately, allowed to dry to a
leather hard, and then joined together with a loose slurry of clay and water. (Hampden Sydney
College). After they were joined, the base and handles were added to the amphora. After the amphora
was formed, either the potter or another person would decorate it. To decorate the amphora, people
used specifically prepared clays mixed with different coloring agents (Hampden Sydney College) also
known as a slip. For this specific amphora, a shiny black slip was used to decorate it so the design
would turn black once fired in a kiln. Slips were applied to the amphora with

Com Toibin Brooklyn Analysis
In Colm Toibin s Brooklyn, there are many opportunities for the protagonist Eilis Lacey that are
handed to her. Despite these opportunities, the path of least resistance is chosen. Many hardships are
faced every day. Eilis feels that she has no other options but to take what s given to her and be happy
with it. Not only are her options a mess but so is her love life. Relationships can be difficult; but
between Eilis and Tony, the much needed effort is not being put in. An unhappy and unfulfilled life, is
led when Eilis realizes that she has not done anything for herself, only to please others. Eilis was faced
with many tough decisions, these were taking without forethought. Therefore, Eilis s life was not
fulfilled in the way it could have been.
Eilis has a problem with speaking her mind; she does not want to make anyone angry with her, even if
this leaves her miserable. Eilis feels extremely silent with some of her opinions She wished she could
think of something smart to say to Miss Kelly without being openly rude. Instead, she remained silent.
(Toibin 6). Remaining silent is a big problem, especially if it puts personal wants on the back burner.
In Eilis s case this is exactly what happens. Eilis takes what is given to her without question In the
United States, he said, There would be plenty of work for someone like you with good pay. (Toibin

The Study of Biodiversity
Biodiversity the amount of living things; animals, microorganisms and plants. It also includes the
genetic information these living things contain, and the ecosystems and biomes they form.
3 ways biodiversity can be studied:
GENETIC DIVERSITY: The amount of different genetic characteristics of the species in their genetic
make up.
SPEICIES DIVERSITY: the amount of species in a particular area in the world.
ECOSYSTEM DIVERSITY: the amount of ecosystems in a given region or biome.
Places of biodiversity include coral, rainforests, sea grass beds, and mangroves.
Australian soils
Old and fragile soils. Water requirements of native plants are adapted to this.
Australia is slowly shifting northwards. The climate will gradually change.
Bushfires. Species can affect scale and range of the bushfires.
Lowest rainfall of the 5 inhabited continents.
Few rivers and lakes.
Australian biodiversity
600,000 700,000 species.
Endemic species; 83% of mammals, 45% of birds, 89% of reptiles and 93% frogs.
About a minimum of 60 70 species have become extinct, since European settlement.
Hotspot(s)
A region where there is at least 1500 of 800,000 or 0.5% of plant species (70% vegetation).
Hotspots have high diversity, are not found outside the area, a loss of endemic species and are also
likely to be lost.
Human impacts on biodiversity
Unsustainable use of resources:
Agriculture (monoculture and stripping land).
Fisheries (overfishing).

What a tough fifty year old patient to treat. Her intolerance to pain medication noted in the history and
physical preoperative record. The acute visceral pain from the hysterectomy crucially needs to be
treated. Morphine Sulfate(MS) is the usual first choice to treat severe pain, furthermore intravenous

Funding Potential Of Research
Funding Potential Because of the interesting and innovative research findings with high commercial
value and sustainable, my research has strong funding potential. My research has some unique criteria,
(1) most of findings are patentable; (2) applying biological process for the first time to reduce
greenhouse gases; (3) applying new technologies (without using any synthetic chemicals) to use CO2
and other greenhouse gases as a beneficial materials for the first time to produce new products; (4)
producing new high nutrient rich organic fertilizers and pesticides, which ultimately protect the
environment by eliminating the harmful contamination from water, land and soils this technique also

Collaboration, Education and Mentorship, and Outreach I believe that research is most rewarding
when it involves some level of collaboration and cooperation between multiple parties. Since my
research is a global issue, national and international collaboration is necessary. I have been fortunate
to collaborate with over a dozen labs and many institutions to date, including University of Munich

Rutgers University (USA) and University of Toronto (Canada) and these collaboration will be
continued after joining at the . Exchanging ideas across institutional and cultural boundaries
strengthens our scientific community, while research offers a powerful learning opportunity for
undergraduate and graduate students alike. My preferred approach to collaboration is to co advise
graduate students or postdocs with my collaborators; this allows the student or postdoc to be

Vehicle Pollution And Vehicle Pollution
If we have a look at traffic today, we see more and more cars that are powered by electricity instead of
the ecologically harmful fuel most cars used to drag their power from. Although the first electric car
was invented by the Scottish inventor Robert Anderson between 1832 and 1839, a crude electric
carriage powered by non rechargeable primary cells, between now and then the majority of cars we
found on the streets were powered by fuel. But still, although more than 2 million electric vehicles
now travel the world s roads, they only make up 0.2 percent of the total light duty passenger vehicle
share around the world. And still, this is a major step in the right direction. In 2016, the number of
electric cars increased by 60 percent, and in 2015 by 77 percent. Electric cars sure are in the
ascendant, just why is that a good thing? The answer is quite simple and everywhere known; vehicle
pollution. And because this vehicle pollution is a major problem for us and our environment, the
negative externalities of this vehicle pollution are going to be analyzed and advice on how to solve or
better, get rid of the problem, is going to be offered.
To start off, here is a short definition of what exactly negative externalities are. They are costs that are
suffered by a third party. These costs are also called the social welfare loss. Producer and consumer
are the first and second parties, third parties on the other hand are individual people other than
producer and consumer, property

Ethical Issues With The Human Genome Project
As a Christian, but also as a scientist responsible for overseeing the Human Genome Project, one of
my concerns has been the limits on applications of our understanding of the genome. Should there be
limits? I think there should. I think the public has expressed their concern about ways this information
might be misused , Francis Collins an American physician geneticist (BrainyQuote, 2001 2016). A
genome is an organism s complete set of genetic instructions. Each genome contains all of the
information needed to build that organism and allow it to grow and develop (Engagement, 2015).

being a genetic modification that would ruin the natural system. ... Show more content on

Healthcare is a big industry worldwide that obtains a large amount of money. There are companies
who donate money to help move on the project, such as a pharmaseutical. The Human Genome
Project is expanding so much that it may actually become an industry itself, meaning there will be
more job opportunities in the medical field (APECSEC.org, 2015). Their main goal is to advance in
medication and to be known. The more people know about this project, the more support they will be
able to gain and it could grow from then on (Group, 2015). But what if society is spending all of this
money for a project that doesn t have a guarantee of working? We may be paying for something that
might not advance in science and can put people in danger for being around different chemicals.
Finding new medications means they have to be tested after being made; which can put citizens into
more danger because scientists aren t certain this process will

Top Reasons Users Don t Convert On Your Website
Top Reasons Users Don t Convert on Your Website
Top Reasons Users Don t Convert on Your Website
There are many reasons why users don t convert as buyers or sales leads on B2B websites, and each
company website has its own conversion killers that are unique to the business and its online audience.
A Stanford University study found that 80 percent of prospects judge a business s credibility by
website design features.[1] Many of the negative judgments that people make involve unfriendly
mobile design, lack of self service options and hard sell tactics that turn off members who prefer a
lighter touch that lets people make their own choices of whom to visit and engage when they re ready
to buy. Conversion rate optimization or CRO involves improving a website s design, functionality and
user experiences while eliminating those pesky attributes that kill conversions.
Leading B2B Conversion Killers
It s useful for any company to make a list of conversion killers based on general best practices and
features unique to the business. Rectifying the issues might take a website redesign, system
integrations, customized features or fine tuning content strategy. Median conversion rates for generic
searches are only slightly higher than 2 percent across all websites.[2] B2B websites receive fewer
visitors than retail operations, so they ve got to do a better job of converting users into leads by
convincing them to sign up for emails or a newsletter, register for faster service,

Definition Essay On Betrayal
Over the past few years of my life, I ve witnessed and felt betrayal. As I get older I ve had Friends ,
Family and people around my betray me. You start noticing people that you least expect leaving you
when you most need them. I ve also betrayed someone in the form of seducing and leaving her. There
could be many ways of you betraying someone and not even noticing how they could react to it. One
example of me betraying someone and not noticing how I messed up, with a little Joke . Was when I a
little drops of water and I flicked it at a Friend, the water didn t land on him but he was able to catch
me on the act. He took it as a sign of disrespect and not loyal. As as Sign of future betrayal. I

Second example of Betrayal is to deliver something to an enemy by treachery. I once had a guy from

Romantic Jealousy s Effect On Self-Esteem
Romantic Jealousy s Effect on Self Esteem
Evolutionary psychology has presented the theory that romantic jealousy, the feelings of threat or loss
to an important emotional relationship, evolved as an adaptation to protect investment relationships
(Buss, 1998; 2005). According to evolutionary theory, jealousy serves as an advantage in mate
retention and sexual reproduction for those who are able to effectively express such feelings of
romantic jealousy (Wade Walsh, 2008). Central to human social patterns, jealousy has been shown to
be a universal emotion (Buunk Hupka, 1987). Much of evolutionary theory focuses on sex differences
in the experience of romantic jealousy between males and females (Buss, 1992; Sagarin, et al, 2003;
Sagarin Guadagno, 2004), while other bodies of research primarily focus on personality traits
predisposing individuals to exhibit these jealous feelings (Wade Walsh, 2008). Previous empirical
research expands on personality theory, investigating the effect of self esteem levels on an individual s
tendency toward feelings of jealousy (Steward Beatty, 1985), though few studies have explored the
reverse direction of jealousy s potential impact on self esteem. ... Show more content on

Additionally, individuals continue this process by assuming their romantic partners have evaluated the
target threat against them in a similar comparative process (Guerrero, et al, 1995). We assume it

by encouraging this ruminative comparative

The Habitat Of Southern Toads
Abby Buren, Sheridan Dillon Robinson, Amber Hancock, Brett Shannon
Identifying the preferred habitat of southern toads
Introduction
St. Andrews university is a 500 acre campus consisting of many aquatic habitats, ideal for amphibians
such as frogs and toads. Amphibians are susceptible to changes in the environment and are indicators
of environmental diversity and success as well as identifiers of pollutants in the environment
(Marshall, 2013). We were interested in the prefered conditions for local toad and frog species on St.
Andrews campus, located in Laurinburg, North Carolina. Some aquatic environments include lakes,
ponds, creeks and a Carolina Bay. We hypothesised that toad and frog populations will be denser at the
Carolina Bay because the area provides acoustics, ideal for calling mates and also has a lot of surface
area that allows for solar heating that increases metabolism that would allow for quicker development
(metamorphosis) as well as having lots of areas to lay eggs, due to mating and offspring
developmental requirements. Frogs and toads are external fertilizers and the females lay their eggs in
the water and the males fertilize the eggs. Also, once the eggs hatch depending on the species they will
spend the first month or so of their lives in water as a tadpole until they metamorphosize into frogs or
toads. Due to this, they are more likely to be in aquatic areas during mating seasons (Partymiller, L.).
Out of the many toad and frog species in the area, we

because it is harmful to every citizen around the world. Globalization influences cultural exchange
since it has been increasing annually. But this is not necessarily a good thing, people fear this can

Another reason why jobs are decreasing is because of the advantage that the technology have over us,
the more advance the technology, the less workers they need. For example, in Factories everything
was mostly done and created by citizens of a nation, since technology is so advance, factories now
have more of automation system which means everything is done automatically, this has caused
decrease in jobs now that automation is very popular. This also can affect the household because some
families will be in financial crises due to unemployment. They are and will be higher rates of divorces
and family instability. Globalization has a huge and very stressful impact on companies and business.
Globalization has made a competitive environment for them. The competition is due to different type
of reasons but mainly due to cost and price and technology adaptation. When company and businesses
competition increase, it makes other companies or businesses lower their prices. Also, one effect of
globalization is expanding the businesses. Companies, businesses and customers always want to have
quick services and in a more efficient way then before. They expect low prices and high quality. For
example, McDonald s. This company had its downfall, but it has been one of the most admire
companies globally. It has expanded throughout the world and it represents some of the cultures and

Myths Are A Valuable Source Of Archetypes Of Human Attitudes
Myths are a valuable source of archetypes of human attitudes, themes and symbols. Myths not only
deepen people s knowledge about life and beliefs of the ancient Greeks, but also present the image of
the contemporary worldview and system of values. They represent attitudes and patterns of timeless
values, and raise the universal content. One of the most frequent themes of myths is the context of
suffering. Suffering is not onlyt the domain of people, but suffering also affects gods and goddesses.
Although Niobe and Demeter belonged to a fellowship of queens and goddesses, just like mortals they
had to cope with adversity; they struggled with vices, and suffered pain. Moreover, they were
subjected to fate as every human beings.
In mythology mothers were portrayed as a mother earth and mother giving rise to all lives and
mankind. However, sometimes they were presented as those who suffered due to fate s adversity
.Niobe, daughter of Tantalus, the wife of Amphion, proud mother of many children (according to some
sources mother of twelve, and according to other sources of fourteen children) demanded the honor
equal to the mother of Apollo and Artemis. She did not understand how people can worship Leto who
had only two children. Niobe, proud of her motherhood, drew Leto s wrath on herself. The vengeful
Leto complained to her divine children, who in retaliation killed all Niobe s sons and daughters.
Heartbroken Niobe left Thebes, returned to her homeland, and on the top of

Disney World Essay
My first trip to Disney World, now that, that was a memorable trip. That trip was one of the most
magical and happiest memories of my life. It was back in 2008, I had just turned 6 years old a few
months before we left to go there. It was summertime, and the weather was perfect. I remember being
so bored on the way there because I am an only child so I didn t have anyone to entertain me besides
myself. My mom s side of the family went on this trip with us, and at the time I was the only grandkid,
and the only kid at all. So once we finally were almost there I remember passing the big Welcome to
Disney World sign and being so excited I peed my pants my mom was pretty mad, but my dad thought
it was kinda funny so I didn t get in too much trouble. Anyways, so we checked in and got our room
and our super cool disney cups and were all set. It was night time by the time we got there that day so
we didn t really get to do much that day. So the next day we all got up and got ready for Hollywood
Studios which is the part where all the disney movies are turned into games and rides. That day was
super fun, most likely because growing up I didn t really watch anything besides disney movies or
shows. So as the day went on I started getting sleepy but I was pushing through the sleepiness because
I mean come on, I was at Disney World! This place was awesome! So we ride a few more rides and

The Right Supply Chain
The first step in devising an effective supply chain is to consider the nature of demand for your
product. For this many aspects are important: Product life cycle, demand predictability, product
variety etc. But any product can be broadly classified into as either a Functional Product or an
Innovative Product based on their demand patterns. Root cause for ineffectiveness of any supply chain
is the mismatch between the type of product and the type of supply chain. Functional Products are
generally staples or those generally bought from the grocery stores or retail outlets. They have stable
demands are price variations do not affect the demand drastically. Such products have long life cycles
but they invite competition and usually ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
{draw:frame} {draw:frame} {draw:frame} The problem occurs when companies move from
Functional Sphere to Innovative sphere without even realising. They start blaming the forecasting
department and implement unnecessary strategies for cutting down inventories, just in time delivery
schedules etc. They turn the predictable environment into an unpredictable one. After deciding on
whether the product offered id a functional or innovative, managers need to decide if their supply
chain is a functionally efficient one or market responsive one. Most companies introducing functional
products realise that they need to have efficient supply chains and it is rare to find a company in the
lower left hand of the above matrix. There has been an increase in the number of innovative products
attributable to either: 1) Increase in number of competitors 2) Increase in innovative products by the
existing customers to improve their profit margins Companies traditionally try to turn their functional
products into innovative ones but still focus on the physical efficiency of the supply chain rather than
improving their market responsiveness. Taking an example from the Computer manufacturing
industry, the mainframes were dominant technology almost 2 decades ago. The lead time quoted ways
upto two years and the sales team had to convince the customer about the lead time.

America s Two Party Political System Essay
While gearing up for the 2016 election, it was extremely clear that this election was going to be a
turning point in American politics. Ever since the 2016 Presidential candidates started campaigning
over a year ago, one thing is becoming very clear: America s two party political system is in disarray.
Party systems in the United States are inherently unstable. Because it is a two party system, the party
that wins is the party that builds the biggest coalition. But the bigger the coalition, the more unstable it
is (Drutman). The struggle is finding solutions to fix it. It definitely did not help that businessman
Donald Trump became president. Currently, there are two main parties in the United States federal
system: the Democratic Party and the Republican Party. There are also many third party alternatives
that are struggling to change the way we look at politics. To make sense of America s two party
political system, we must first go back to 1776 when Federalists and Anti Federalists were first
established. The Federalists advocated for a strong and centralized national government that promoted
economic growth in order create friendly relationships with Great Britain. Furthermore, the Federalists
supported a national bank, tariffs, and a loose interpretation of the United States Constitution. On the
contrary, the Anti Federalists opposed a strong, centralized government and did everything in their
power to minimize the power given to the federal government.

Pros And Cons Of Circumcision
PRO OF CIRCUMSICION Circumcision is the surgical removal of the foreskin of the penis. This
practice of male circumcision was started century ago by Jewish people as part of religious ritual
(Pillitteri, 2014). Today there is controversy with this practice. For this week s discussion, we are
going to concentrate on proponents of the practice. Male circumcision has been a practice in various
social groups in many countries around the world including Jewish people, Muslim, and even citizens
of the United Stated of America (Chiringa, Ramathuba, Mashau, 2017). Culture and religion have had
a great impact on decision making regarding male circumcision. Many believe that circumcision offers
some medical health benefits, such as, the reduction of the risk of urinary tract infection, protects
against penile and cervical cancer, and decreases the incidence of sexual transmitted disease. Patients
report that circumcision improves sexual function and gives creativity during intercourse. Some
believe circumcision reduces the risk of paraphimosis which is when the skin gets stuck behind the
head of the penis. If paraphimosis is left ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
, Here in America this helps because patients do not have to endure the surgical removal of the
foreskin when they get older, and they run the risk of the most considerable complications (Pillitteri,
2014). The socioeconomic influences of male circumcision are becoming more common because of
the desire to be traditional in countries where the majority of boys are circumcised. Circumcision has
health benefits, and it would be helpful for circumcision to be accessible to parents. This can be
attained with health provider education. Today awareness of improved hygiene and lower risk of
infections through male circumcision have motivated the spread of circumcision practices in the
developing countries (Chiringa, Ramathuba, Mashau,

Book Report Emergency Room
Emergency Room write up My day in the E.R. was slow for the first hour and a half. We got our first
patient at 7:57 am, and it went at a brisk pace for the rest of the day. The first patient came in with
sinus tachycardia. She received one liter of NS 0.9% at a rate of 1L/hr. and two doses of IV diltiazem
10 mg each to cardiovert her, and it was successful. She was released home with instructions to follow
up with her cardiologist. There were two patients with chest pain one patient received Nitro
Sublingual tablets x3, and the other received Nitro Paste one inch on the left side of his chest.
Troponin labs CMP, and CBC on both patients were within normal range. The urine culture on the
patient who received the Nitro tabs had WBC in it. When I left the nurse was waiting for blood

The patient that received the Nitro paste was waiting for admission to the hospital for further
observation and testing. There was a female patient who presented with erythema and swelling around
her eyes and across the bridge of her nose. The physician diagnosed her with a sinus infection and she
was given a prescription for ABX with directions to complete the full course as prescribed. I thought
she had fallen and landed on her face or maybe someone had hit her I have never seen a sinus
infection present like that before. Another patient had abdominal pain all labs were normal, and the
staff was waiting for the CT results to try and pinpoint the reason for the pain. The patient received

Pernicious Anemia In The 1800s
In the 1800s, there was a disease called pernicious anemia. Pernicious anemia was affecting in older
people and death occurred within two to five years. In 1926, George Richards Minot discovered the
cure for pernicious anemia was nutrients in liver, which was the previous treatment for this disease,
and that it was absence of nutrients. This resulted in the seclusion of a vitamin which we now call
vitamin B₁₂. George Minot along with William Murphy and George Whipple received a Nobel Prize in
1934 for their discovery, though they were not the first to propose that it was a lack of nutrients.
Vitamin B₁₂ serves multiple purposes in the body. Vitamin B₁₂ is the only form of vitamin B stored in

Around half of the 5% over the age of 50 have their deficiency from issues absorbing the vitamin.
Many mental disorders may be cured, partly fixed, or certain symptoms may disappear when given
extra B₁₂. Some of these disorders include but are not limited to are dementia, depression, and mental
deterioration. Asthma, bursitis, and bone spur pain have been treated with vitamin B₁₂. Vitamin B₁₂ is
naturally found in animal products such as poultry, eggs, shellfish, etc. It is also in foods similar to
nutritional yeast. B₁₂ is commonly cannot be found in plant foods. Other sources of vitamin B₁₂ are
dietary supplements, tablets/lozenges, and prescription medications. In dietary supplements the
vitamin is the form of cyanocobalamin which the body changes to methylcobalamin and 5
deoxyadenosylcobalamin. The ability to absorb the vitamin through the supplements is restricted due
to the volume of the body s intrinsic factor. Tablets/lozenges are known to have exceptional
bioavailability. Prescription medications such as intramuscular injections can come in the form of
cyanocobalamin or hydroxocobalamin and is used to treat vitamin B₁₂ deficiencies. Prescription
medication can come in a gel form for people who would take it instead of injections and raises

The Theme Of Rebellion In George Orwell s 1984
Rebellions happened all throughout history and still continue in the present. Bacon s Rebellion
continues to have a lasting impact on today s society. In the novel 1984 by George Orwell, the theme
of rebellion is prevalent. The government system of Big Brother controls every aspect of the people s
lives. As the story progresses, the main character Winston Smith, finds himself having hatred for Big
Brother and wants to find a way to end the Party s reign. Other characters, like Julia, only want to
rebel for personal reasons and want no major changes. In George Orwell s 1984, the use of imagery to
draw parallels between Winston s struggle against Big Brother and man s repeated clashes with nigh
totalitarian government. The struggle to beat a power that has already gained control is grueling. In
order to successfully revolt, there would need to be a large mass of people willing to uprise. The
people in overpowering governments are brainwashed to believe in the false reality placed in front of
them. Trying to convince people what they have been told is fake is a challenge that is hard to surpass.
Winston Smith placed himself on a mission to help take down Big Brother, and in turn takes down
himself. Winston wanted to rebel against Big Brother for future generations to experience life in a way
he is unable to. With memories of the past, Winston realizes the world he lives in is very flawed.
Mentally, Winston wants to destroy Big Brother; however, Winston wants to remain part of

Is The Death Penalty Fair
The death penalty has been used since the 13 colonies. This replaced the form of many other harsh
punishments It is a consequence that is harsh but to some necessary. I believe that the death penalty is
fair in all ways. The beneficial reasons are morality, deterrence, and cost of death vs. life in prison. As
human beings we decide what makes our decisions right and wrong. Also shown through good or bad
behavior. If you receive the death penalty as your punishment, you deserved it. If you take somebody
life, then yours should be taken as well. The victim should see how it feels and get a consequence for
his repulsive actions. These individuals should be removed from society. If one recognizes the fact

To An Athlete Dying Young Summary
In every poet, there is a purpose in every poem they compose. In A.E. Housman To an Athlete Dying
Young (rpt. In Greg Johnson and Thomas R. Arp, Perrine s Literature: Structure, Sound, and Sense,
12th ed. [Boston: Wadsworth, 2015] 983) Housman shared his philosophy on how an athlete feels
when they grow old into their late seventies. In To an Athlete Dying Young is about an athlete that dies
young. What is surprising is that Housman doesn t spend much time lamenting the young athlete s
death. Instead, he pitches the positive aspects of dying young, which is far from the typical approach.
It concludes that it s okay to let go of the athletic aspect of life.
The poem starts off cheerfully enough, with the speaker remembering when the athlete ... Show more

Like death, fame is nothing new, but we never seem to get tired of it. Fame has been around for as
long as there have been people and language. Today, we live in what seems like a fame obsessed
society. The majority of what our social interactions revolves around has to do with fame. Despite the
fact that fame seems so important, most of us don t spend much time considering the nature of fame
and what we are putting such a high value on as individuals and as a society. A.E. Housman s To an
Athlete Dying Young gives us a chance to consider how high of a pedestal we place fame on. We are
challenged with the fact that the author thinks the athlete is a smart lad, or lucky, for dying young and
maintaining his hero status in the public eye. Normally, does fame seem meaningless when faced with
death? As seen in the poem, pride and competition often go hand in hand. In To an Athlete Dying
Young, pride plays an important role. The speaker suggests that, by dying young, the athlete will never
have to suffer the humiliation and wounded pride that comes along with defeat and eventual
weakening athletic ability. The bottom line, better dead than second

The Cultural Change Required For Start And Sustain Lean
Lean is an approach that can be used in every organization to increase customer satisfaction, decrease
costs, improve quality, and increase the output, by eliminating waste and creating value (Manos
Vincent, 2012, p.1). According to (Manos Vincent, 2012, p.2) people are the most critical element of
lean production. People are the soul and the heart of every organization. They are greatest asset and
the organizations cannot achieve the goals without their efforts. The success or failure of the lean
system in the organization will be contingent on the people who perform it rather than on any tools,
equipment, software, and techniques. Organizations can gain supreme results by considering people as
the main asset and invest sufficient time, efforts and in employing and developing the right people
(Dalal, 2011, p.584). This paper will review a suggested plan for creating the cultural change required
to start and sustain lean. It is address the five of the cultural enablers and the core fundamentals of
people, specify the cultural processes, techniques, and practices required for a lean organization. A
Lean Culture Lean is not only a set of tools and techniques implemented by an organization; it is a
cultural change. It is importance to develop a foundation for this cultural change, to ensure the success
of any organization that starts the lean journey. Manos and Vincent (2012, p.2) defines the lean culture
as the entire tools of lean, knowledge, and techniques that

Migrant Farm Workers
Migrant farm workers come to Canada to give themselves a better work opportunity and they believe
that will get the same rights as a Canadian. Globalization has allowed many of these migrant workers
to receive an indefinite status which allows many of these individuals rights that starts problems for
citizenship and human rights. What happens is the Canadian citizenship and international human
rights have allowed these migrant workers to come to work, but these workers find it difficult to
secure their rights that have been organized by SAWP. Gabriel and Macdonald (2014) found that
struggle begins with Canada because they use human rights laws that is embedded into the domestic

They are alienated as outsiders of Canadian citizenship because they are not a citizen or a member of
the Canadian community, but they do not realize it is just an illusion that has been shown to them.
This also means that these migrant workers are not part of the Canadian society and are excluded for
any rights that a citizen of Canada would have. Gabriel and MacDonald (2014) acknowledges that
Canada s immigration view on migrant worker is referred to as precarious status, which means
programs like SWAP use this status for many of the migrant farm workers because they cannot be a
permanent resident, have the lack of rights and entitlements, and cannot bring any family to Canada.
Due to globalization, there has been a citizenship gap that has been created which allows certain
individuals to have the right to have claims, entitlement and status. This is not universal because
again, migrant farm workers are alienated and excluded from this right. When looking at the struggles
of migrant farm workers face for citizenship rights and human rights, there is correlation that these
struggles are use against them to help Canada secure rights of agricultural

A Comparison Of Hurricane Andrew And The Bangladesh Typhoon
Vulnerability of people in Hurricane Andrew and the Bangladesh Typhoon were different for these
two social systems despite the similarities of the two disasters. Hurricane Andrew took place in 1992
and was a category five hurricane which killed 23 people and left $26.5 billion in damages.
Bangladesh Typhoon took place in 1991 and was also the same storm intensity as Hurricane Andrew,
however, it killed 100,000 people and left millions displaced. Humans are great optimizers (Walker
Salt, 2006, p. 28). Humans like stability and not variability, for it hooks into something psychological
that we like consistency and we want growth in a linear way, however, that is not how it works. We do

Social and ecological vulnerability to disasters and outcomes of any particular extreme event are
influenced by buildup or erosion of resilience both before and after disasters occur (Adger et al., 2005,
p. 1036). In the Bangladesh Typhoon, major erosion occurred even after the storm had passed causing
agriculture to wash away. Additionally, many more people died in the Bangladesh Typhoon compared
to Hurricane Andrew and this could have been because people in coastal regions in the United States
are more used to having the resources and support when it comes to protecting themselves from a
natural disaster. Hurricane Andrew did result in larger damages compared to the Bangladesh Typhoon
and this may be because Florida, where the most damage occurred, is closer to the coast compared to
where the Bangladesh Typhoon did its most

  • 2. Analysis Of The Book Hello Latasha Hello Latasha, I hope everything is well with your son and I understand your lack of posting because I believe family comes first no matter what. I am happy to see that the brownie is back in the story and you have done a great job switching between first and third person. I am still in love with the first sentence because it really draws you into the story and makes the reader understand exactly how the mood is feeling. It also shows the reader a glimpse into the setting and what kind of conditions this place had. There were a couple of mechanical things I would like to point out to you that I feel can be fixed easily with a good reread. The first thing I noticed was the story switches between past and present tense; something I tend to do all the time and can easily be read over, but can be confusing for some readers. The second thing I noticed was a bunch of run on sentences that created paragraphs; what I mean is that it may look like a paragraph, but it s actually two very long sentences that can be cut down into shorter sentences. The last mechanical thing I noticed was some punctuation and grammar errors that can be spotted with a grammar website like Paperrater or Grammerly. I am #1 when it comes to screwing up grammar and punctuation so I use both of them to check my piece and even then I still miss stuff. Usually at that point I hand it off to my sister. Have a family member, friend, coworker or even stranger read your piece you will get and idea of where ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Review Of Nineteen Eighty Four And The Film Adaptation A literary adaptation is defined as a composition that has been recast into a new form e.g novel, play or screen production . (Ross, 2009, p.5) It has been noted that almost a third of all film productions ever created were based on novel adaptations, and in today s contemporary society the book to film adaptation cycle is more present than ever. Although this could to seen as an innocent move allowing great texts to be more approachable and appreciated by modern culture, it has been argued that the process damages the original content and understanding that is taken from the source material. By discussing and analysing some of the main factors and issues filmmakers use when adapting a text to film, based on the article Adaptation: ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Extreme totalitarian ideology, government surveillance and the always present big brother watch over all, individuality and even the English language face the verge of extinction to make way for newspeak , a thoughtless and almost brain dead bureaucratic dialectal fit for this dystopia. The novel centres on Winston Smith, an outer party worker who begins to question the motives of the ruling dictatorship that is the inner party . The story is narrated through a third person perspective that accounts the lives of the characters and events occurring around them. The text is filled with intense and thought provoking scenarios that relate heavily to the main character Winston. Various snippets throughout the text create and shape the foundation that is Winston s life from beginning to present, understanding his character is fundamental as the story is built around him, his past, his personality and his every quirk. The world George Orwell has created is filled with perplexing meaning and within each paragraph of this 355 page novel an important message can be found, making it a influential and powerful book of it s time and even today. Filmmakers have been adapting novels for over a century, but how have they been able to transpose stories to the extent that the audience can recognize the novel (Desmond Hawkes, 2006). This is a question often posed when addressing the adaptation of text to screen. How can ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Peter Olson s Ceramic Art It is not unusual for ceramicists to employ photography as a means of documenting their works, yet Philadelphia based artist Peter Olson s method of incorporating these two media on his exquisite clay creations is arguably previously unseen. In each of his work, the artist cleverly unfolds a pleasant surprise. As the audience closely examines Olson s signature kaleidoscopic surface decoration which bears a resemblance to motifs found on Islamic artifacts and Greek vessels, images of modern streets and people appear where floral design and mythological beings are expected to be. Photo Ceramica is a refreshing meld of photography and ceramic art; the works showcased in the show represent nothing less than the best of both worlds. More than 40 pieces, including bowls, marionettes, tiles, and large urns takes over the 3,200 square feet gallery space at The American Museum of Ceramic Art (AMOCA). Assisting them is a long wall of photos originally taken by Olsen to be used as design elements. The exhibit plan is resolved so that visitors have a chance to visually experience the production of the artist s works from the very beginning. Olson s process begins with printing and cutting out individual subjects from his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 5. Herakles And The Erymanthian Boar Analysis Herakles and the Erymanthian Boar Amphora The Herakles and the Erymanthian Boar is displayed at The Walters Art Museum under the accession number 48.253. The design on this piece is black with the background having a red color. This piece was found in Athens, Greece and it dates back to 520 B.C.E. Surprisingly, after all these years, it is still in great condition. It is a storage jar with a height of 16.8125 inches and a diameter of 11.1875 inches. What was the importance of this storage jar and what does it tell us about the Ancient Greek culture? The Herakles and the Erymanthian Boar is a neck amphora. Neck amphorae were characterized as storage jars with necks narrower than the body. They were used for storing and transporting wine and oil. (Encyclopedia Britannica) At the top of the amphorae were circular openings, or mouths, in which the wine or oil was poured or drained. Herakles and the Erymanthian Boar is a terracotta jar with a black circular mouth which leads to the neck. On the neck, there is a repetitive black floral design which stands out well against the color of the reddish terracotta background. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Herakles amphora is mostly composed of terracotta. Amphorae were made using a potter s wheel (Hampden Sydney College). The body and the neck were thrown separately, allowed to dry to a leather hard, and then joined together with a loose slurry of clay and water. (Hampden Sydney College). After they were joined, the base and handles were added to the amphora. After the amphora was formed, either the potter or another person would decorate it. To decorate the amphora, people used specifically prepared clays mixed with different coloring agents (Hampden Sydney College) also known as a slip. For this specific amphora, a shiny black slip was used to decorate it so the design would turn black once fired in a kiln. Slips were applied to the amphora with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Relationships can be difficult; but between Eilis and Tony, the much needed effort is not being put in. Eilis feels extremely silent with some of her opinions She wished she could think of something smart to say to Miss Kelly without being openly rude. Instead, she remained silent. (Toibin 6). Remaining silent is a big problem, especially if it puts personal wants on the back burner. In Eilis s case this is exactly what happens. Eilis takes what is given to her without question In the United States, he said, There would be plenty of work for someone like you with good pay. (Toibin 24). • 10. Vehicle Pollution And Vehicle Pollution If we have a look at traffic today, we see more and more cars that are powered by electricity instead of the ecologically harmful fuel most cars used to drag their power from. Although the first electric car was invented by the Scottish inventor Robert Anderson between 1832 and 1839, a crude electric carriage powered by non rechargeable primary cells, between now and then the majority of cars we found on the streets were powered by fuel. But still, although more than 2 million electric vehicles now travel the world s roads, they only make up 0.2 percent of the total light duty passenger vehicle share around the world. And still, this is a major step in the right direction. In 2016, the number of electric cars increased by 60 percent, and in 2015 by 77 percent. Electric cars sure are in the ascendant, just why is that a good thing? The answer is quite simple and everywhere known; vehicle pollution. And because this vehicle pollution is a major problem for us and our environment, the negative externalities of this vehicle pollution are going to be analyzed and advice on how to solve or better, get rid of the problem, is going to be offered. To start off, here is a short definition of what exactly negative externalities are. They are costs that are suffered by a third party. These costs are also called the social welfare loss. Producer and consumer are the first and second parties, third parties on the other hand are individual people other than producer and consumer, property ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Ethical Issues With The Human Genome Project As a Christian, but also as a scientist responsible for overseeing the Human Genome Project, one of my concerns has been the limits on applications of our understanding of the genome. Should there be limits? I think there should. I think the public has expressed their concern about ways this information might be misused , Francis Collins an American physician geneticist (BrainyQuote, 2001 2016). A genome is an organism s complete set of genetic instructions. Each genome contains all of the information needed to build that organism and allow it to grow and develop (Engagement, 2015). Top Reasons Users Don t Convert On Your Website Top Reasons Users Don t Convert on Your Website Top Reasons Users Don t Convert on Your Website There are many reasons why users don t convert as buyers or sales leads on B2B websites, and each company website has its own conversion killers that are unique to the business and its online audience. A Stanford University study found that 80 percent of prospects judge a business s credibility by website design features.[1] Many of the negative judgments that people make involve unfriendly mobile design, lack of self service options and hard sell tactics that turn off members who prefer a lighter touch that lets people make their own choices of whom to visit and engage when they re ready to buy. Conversion rate optimization or CRO involves improving a website s design, functionality and user experiences while eliminating those pesky attributes that kill conversions. Leading B2B Conversion Killers It s useful for any company to make a list of conversion killers based on general best practices and features unique to the business. Rectifying the issues might take a website redesign, system integrations, customized features or fine tuning content strategy. Median conversion rates for generic searches are only slightly higher than 2 percent across all websites.[2] B2B websites receive fewer visitors than retail operations, so they ve got to do a better job of converting users into leads by convincing them to sign up for emails or a newsletter, register for faster service, ... • 15. Romantic Jealousy s Effect On Self-Esteem Romantic Jealousy s Effect on Self Esteem Evolutionary psychology has presented the theory that romantic jealousy, the feelings of threat or loss to an important emotional relationship, evolved as an adaptation to protect investment relationships (Buss, 1998; 2005). According to evolutionary theory, jealousy serves as an advantage in mate retention and sexual reproduction for those who are able to effectively express such feelings of romantic jealousy (Wade Walsh, 2008). Central to human social patterns, jealousy has been shown to be a universal emotion (Buunk Hupka, 1987). Much of evolutionary theory focuses on sex differences in the experience of romantic jealousy between males and females (Buss, 1992; Sagarin, et al, 2003; Sagarin Guadagno, 2004), while other bodies of research primarily focus on personality traits predisposing individuals to exhibit these jealous feelings (Wade Walsh, 2008). Previous empirical research expands on personality theory, investigating the effect of self esteem levels on an individual s tendency toward feelings of jealousy (Steward Beatty, 1985), though few studies have explored the reverse direction of jealousy s potential impact on self esteem. ... We hypothesised that toad and frog populations will be denser at the Carolina Bay because the area provides acoustics, ideal for calling mates and also has a lot of surface area that allows for solar heating that increases metabolism that would allow for quicker development (metamorphosis) as well as having lots of areas to lay eggs, due to mating and offspring developmental requirements. Frogs and toads are external fertilizers and the females lay their eggs in the water and the males fertilize the eggs. Also, once the eggs hatch depending on the species they will spend the first month or so of their lives in water as a tadpole until they metamorphosize into frogs or toads. Due to this, they are more likely to be in aquatic areas during mating seasons (Partymiller, L.). Out of the many toad and frog species in the area, we ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Myths not only deepen people s knowledge about life and beliefs of the ancient Greeks, but also present the image of the contemporary worldview and system of values. They represent attitudes and patterns of timeless values, and raise the universal content. One of the most frequent themes of myths is the context of suffering. Suffering is not onlyt the domain of people, but suffering also affects gods and goddesses. Although Niobe and Demeter belonged to a fellowship of queens and goddesses, just like mortals they had to cope with adversity; they struggled with vices, and suffered pain. It was back in 2008, I had just turned 6 years old a few months before we left to go there. It was summertime, and the weather was perfect. I remember being so bored on the way there because I am an only child so I didn t have anyone to entertain me besides myself. My mom s side of the family went on this trip with us, and at the time I was the only grandkid, and the only kid at all. So once we finally were almost there I remember passing the big Welcome to Disney World sign and being so excited I peed my pants my mom was pretty mad, but my dad thought it was kinda funny so I didn t get in too much trouble. Anyways, so we checked in and got our room and our super cool disney cups and were all set. It was night time by the time we got there that day so we didn t really get to do much that day. So the next day we all got up and got ready for Hollywood Studios which is the part where all the disney movies are turned into games and rides. That day was super fun, most likely because growing up I didn t really watch anything besides disney movies or shows. So as the day went on I started getting sleepy but I was pushing through the sleepiness because I mean come on, I was at Disney World! This place was awesome! So we ride a few more rides and then my parents decide it s time to head back to our room and eat some dinner. The next day ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

For this many aspects are important: Product life cycle, demand predictability, product variety etc. But any product can be broadly classified into as either a Functional Product or an Innovative Product based on their demand patterns. Root cause for ineffectiveness of any supply chain is the mismatch between the type of product and the type of supply chain. Functional Products are generally staples or those generally bought from the grocery stores or retail outlets. They have stable demands are price variations do not affect the demand drastically. After deciding on whether the product offered id a functional or innovative, managers need to decide if their supply chain is a functionally efficient one or market responsive one. Most companies introducing functional products realise that they need to have efficient supply chains and it is rare to find a company in the lower left hand of the above matrix. There has been an increase in the number of innovative products attributable to either: 1) Increase in number of competitors 2) Increase in innovative products by the existing customers to improve their profit margins Companies traditionally try to turn their functional products into innovative ones but still focus on the physical efficiency of the supply chain rather than improving their market responsiveness. • 23. America s Two Party Political System Essay While gearing up for the 2016 election, it was extremely clear that this election was going to be a turning point in American politics. Ever since the 2016 Presidential candidates started campaigning over a year ago, one thing is becoming very clear: America s two party political system is in disarray. Party systems in the United States are inherently unstable. Because it is a two party system, the party that wins is the party that builds the biggest coalition. But the bigger the coalition, the more unstable it is (Drutman). The struggle is finding solutions to fix it. It definitely did not help that businessman Donald Trump became president. Currently, there are two main parties in the United States federal system: the Democratic Party and the Republican Party. There are also many third party alternatives that are struggling to change the way we look at politics. To make sense of America s two party political system, we must first go back to 1776 when Federalists and Anti Federalists were first established. The Federalists advocated for a strong and centralized national government that promoted economic growth in order create friendly relationships with Great Britain. Furthermore, the Federalists supported a national bank, tariffs, and a loose interpretation of the United States Constitution. On the contrary, the Anti Federalists opposed a strong, centralized government and did everything in their power to minimize the power given to the federal government. ...
