The Epic Poetry Of The Epic Of Beowulf
It was an epic of the Germanic time, a poem of a noble man with high power, who strived to be a
victorious hero. Beowulf is one of the oldest poems of the old English language to have survived
(Raffel 30). As a story that has withstood this epic and heroic age, Beowulf shows how, for the Anglo
Saxon cultures of the time, the value these cultures placed on war and what they considered to be a
hero.
Written around the eighth and tenth centuries, surviving in a single tattered manuscript, its edges
burned by fire, Beowulf provides a startlingly vivid glimpse into the early medieval past. Written in
Old English, with a vocabulary that would have seemed old fashioned even to its very first audience,
the poem recalls a heroic age in which monsters stalked men by night, dragons guarded hoards of
precious gems and heirlooms swords, and heroes carried out great deeds of warfare that would later be
commemorated by song and feast (Puchner 107). It has no known author and no known date of when
this story was originally first told. It can be thought as one of the greatest stories to travel our world
and make an impact on more than one generation. As Epic poetry has been and continues to be used
by peoples all over the world to transmit their traditions from one generation to another, without the
aid of writing. These traditions frequently consist of legendary narratives about the glorious deeds of
their national heroes (Yoshida). Since these narratives did not need to be

Socialization Process In Society
The socialization process can be described as the process one undergoes to learn the acceptable way to
behave in society. From a young age, people are taught how to behave, what to think, and how to look.
These variables create rules or norms in society today. Examples of a social norm would be gender
rules today. Zimbardo used the example of a man being interested in ballet being seen as unusual and
being criticized because of his interests (Zimbardo 144). This is a perfect example of socialization
because in society we are groomed to believe that ballet is girly or feminine. While there is nothing
about dance itself that is feminine, humanity has created an association with ballet and females. This
association is a behavior that is learned during the socialization process. Another example of the
socialization process common in today s society would be the gender rule that women are to be
submissive in the relationship. Traditionally women stay home, take care of the kids, and cook meals.
While none of these acts in them self are submissive an association with these acts and submission
from a wife to a husband has formed. This was a perfect example of the socialization process for
young girls growing up with the goal to have a family, a husband, and kids, only to perform wifely
duties as the perfect life. This socialization though has now been broken with more women going into
the workforce and some becoming the breadwinner of the family. Fathers staying home

Why Do Bull Sharks Migrate
Bull Sharks Research Paper The Bull Shark is a very interesting and fascinating creature to study. In
this research I will be telling you the special features of the bull shark. And how that affects their
migration and eating habits. The first time I went to an aquarium I saw a really big shark in a giant
walk in tank that was the first time I was very curious about sharks and how they migrate.Bull shark
migration has increased because of the decline in their food source.
What is so special about the bull shark? The bull shark has very special glands that help them

California Earthquake Analysis
On October six a small earthquake shook part of southern California. It started along the Newport
Inglewood Fault near Long Beach, California. The quake itself was weak and not cause any damage to
the local. However the significant part about this earthquake is that it originated from ten kilometers
underground, or about 6.2 miles. Which was interesting because seismologists report on October
seventh. That Rocks at that depth should be too hot and malleable to snag and break. Which is a key
cause of earthquakes. This implies that there is some unknown process at the root of the fault. That
caused this quack to happen says study coauthor Asaf Inbal, a seismologist at Caltech. It was also said
that these earthquakes shouldn t be in direct threat

Brian Caswell s A Cage Of Butterflies
The novel Cage of Butterflies primarily explores how scientific research can become corrupted by the
profit motive.
Brian Caswell s A cage of Butterflies (1992) primarily explores how scientific research can become
corrupted by the profit motive. Caswell s novel uses language techniques such as short sentence
structure and structural techniques such as the constant changing of perspective in order to explore and
emphasise how scientific research can become corrupted by the profit motive. He also shows the
audience some consequences and effects of corruption to both the individuals and the corporations
involved.

One technique Caswell uses to emphasise this idea is the changing of perspective, from third person to
first person in order to express the opinions of a particular character. This technique is evidenced in
the quote, God, it was like a day trip around a sewer. The company owned him and his morals . In
these sentences, Caswell presents Erik s opinion that Brady was corrupt and that the corruption made
him into a unpleasant character to interact with thus explaining the effects of corruption to an
individual s personality. In addition to the changing of perspective, Brian Caswell also places some
sections days after the previous section, an example being in Chapter XXX, where the third section is
3 days after the second one. This makes the novel more diary like therefore increasing the impact of
its ideas on the reader, making them think more about the novel. The structural techniques in Brain
Caswell s A Cage of butterflies mostly emphasise the idea that scientific research can be corrupted by
the profit motive to increase its impact on the audience.
Brian Caswell s A Cage of Butterflies (1992) primarily explores how scientific research can be
corrupted by the profit motive using Raecorp incorporated as the source of this corruption. Also, these

Essay on Comparison between Panama and the United Arab...
I chose to compare the United Arab Emirates to Panama because both countries are experiencing
significant economic growth even though many countries are experiencing problems with the
economy. Both countries are located in close proximity to important regional waterways. The United
Arab Emirates has the Straits of Hormuz, while Panama has the Panama Canal. The Strait of Hormuz
is a waterway between the Gulf of Oman and the Persian Gulf. It is bordered by Iran, United Arab
Emirates, and Oman Musandam Peninsula. About 20% of all the world s petroleum passes through the
Strait of Hormuz. At its narrowest, it is 21 nautical miles wide. The Strait is used to import and export
items into the countries that border the strait, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Since 2008, the economy of the United Arab Emirates has been steadily increasing. In 2012, the
economy of the United Arab Emirates grew 4.4%. Panama also is experiencing a period of significant
economic growth. Over the past year, the economy of Panama grew 10%, putting Panama as one of
the fastest growing economies in the Latin American as well as in the world. I believe the reason for
such significant economic growth in both countries is mainly due to import/export of goods through
the waterways located by each country. United Arab Emirates had imports totaling 273.5 billion
dollars and exports totaling 314 billion in 2012. Panama s imported goods totaled 26.61 billion dollars
and exported goods totaled 18.87 billion dollars in 2012.
The top five products exported from the United Arab Emirates are crude petroleum, refined petroleum,
gold, petroleum gas, and raw aluminum. The top exported product is crude petroleum which accounts
for approximately 44% of all exported goods. The top five imported products are jewelry, refined
petroleum, broadcasting equipment, cars, and computers. The top imported good is jewelry, which
accounts for approximately 8.1% of all imported goods. The top five products exported from Panama
are antibiotics, refined petroleum, passenger and cargo ships, packaged medicaments, and crude
petroleum. Antibiotics is the top exported good accounting for approximately 28% of all exported

Examples Of Mise En Scene In V For Vendetta
V for Vendetta (2006) is a dystopian political thriller film which is directed by James McTeigue. Films
are not merely art form or product for consumption. They are also a form of social practice that
conveys and constructs meanings. In this short essay, I would try to discuss how the mise en scene and
editing in the film V for Vendetta conveys and constructs meanings in the falling dominoes scene.
Mise en scene (Props and Colour)
In films, mise en scene means the director s control over what appears in the frame that means how
the visual materials are staged, framed and photographed. In the falling dominoes scene, I would try to
focus on the props and colour.
In this scene, the most significant props used are V s mask and the falling dominoes. The simplest
purpose for V s mask is to not disclose V a real identity, but simply to create him an icon . The mask
becomes a motif in the film. It is a significant repetition that appear throughout the whole film and
develop a dominate idea that is everyone will die but the idea can alive forever. In this scene, V sent
out a large number of the masks and costumes to the public by BFC. He encourages people wear
masks and goes out to the streets against forced conformity. It shows that everyone ... Show more

It symbolizes the chain reaction that it states to a related order of actions where the time between
consecutive actions is comparatively slight. Even the beginning is just a little fuse, it will become a
out of control power after much fire and heat are collected. In this scene, it also brings out the idea of
the simmering resentment of the people and the Coming Collapse of the government. Audiences
attention always can be drawn to the dominoes by use of close up. In end of the scene, the simmering
resentment of the people has already met the peak. It shows that all of the condition of the rebellion
has completed and V controls all keys of the

The Economic Globalization Of The United States
The economic globalization of any given county is the increase of economic integration of the nation
in the world s economy and is the result of cross border movement of goods, services, technologies
and capital. Economic globalization has been seen to help developing countries arrive at a more stable
and stronger economic because of its positive effects on crucial issues such as GDP, and their trade as
well as their special interactions with different countries, such as the joining of the European Union.
France was no exception to this. France in the post war era after World War II saw significant change
with their economy, becoming a more open country in the world markets and a stronger, financially
stable country.
Before this period, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Gross National Growth (GNP) is the measure of how an economy is performing and what a country
has produced. While Gross domestic product (GDP) is the size of a states total annual economic
activity. France s GNP fluctuated in the early 20th century because of the events posed upon the
country. In the table below we are able to get a sense of how the economy of France does in the 20ths
century and it is clear that their post World War II interval is the most successful. It is that specific
time frame in which France s economy starts to flourish. This could essentially be because after the
world wars mostly everything needed to be reconstructed. Many factors help contribute to a nation s
GDP and GNP rates. Agriculture, construction, manufacturing, services, transport and utilities are all
included when calculating GDP. GNP is greatly affected by the population that is within a country.
Higher GDP s tend to be associated with EU members such as France in comparison to the rest of the
world. There have been sudden drops in the French GDP growth rates but that doesn t essentially
effect the welfare of the people. Many argue that GDP rates do show how a country is doing
economically but they do not accurately show the welfare of the citizens. William Ray from
Psychology Today states that GDP draws attention away from the real measurement of a country s and
people s progress our overall well being. This

What Is Marriage Like In The 1800s
In life especially, 2,000 years ago, there was a path that women were expected to take. Marriage being
the number one decision and path they were supposed to endure. Today, women role in society has
changed tremendously since the 1800s. Women are now a little more equal to men. In Chopin, Kate.
The Story of an Hour and Hawthorne, Nathaniel. The Birth mark, two stories about gender role and
marriages, show how it was like in the 1800s. Their opinion of marriage was correct even though
somethings were flawed.

Pleasantville is a film that uses stylistic conventions to help anchor the ideas suggested by the plot and
reinforce the meaning of the text. There are many ways it does this.
The narrative starts of from TV stations giving the idea of sci fi as the basic genre. Pleasantville is
introduced by the clips of the TV marathon; this is an old 50 s TV show. There is a boy called David

meaning of the text by showing us the younger people are the ones to be affected by changes first.
It then begins to affect the adults. Mary Sue sells her mother about sex and masturbation. The mother s
experience makes the bathroom colour, and because of that there is a fire in the tree. Bud becomes a

Mongol empire was the world s largest empire. The Mongol s practices and beliefs had both positive

despite this positive effect, the Mongolian empire housed the deaths of many innocent people. In
addition to this, the Mongol empire fostered various religions, but enforced the same practices on
everyone, no matter what religion they may follow; this brought order amongst the Mongolian empire.

After the Mongols would sack a city, they would drive out the city s citizens and chop off their heads,
and after the heads were they would sort the heads into piles: one for men, one for women, and then

this document, document 5, may be biased. This document came from a Persian manuscript, so the
Persians could have over exaggerated the strictness of the Mongols and portrayed them as wicked
people. It is very possible that the Persians could have does this especially if they despised the
Mongols for taking over their land. Very few people survived, if any were to have survived, then the
survivors were most likely artisans or slaves, since the Mongols sought them out before they began to

ones who suffered assassination; soldiers of the Mongolian army suffered manslaughter as well. In the
Mongolian army there was a captain who oversaw ten soldiers, then there was a captain supervised

The Queens Visit
The Queens Visit
The dungeon was a miserable place. Light was scarce and flickered from the torches bolted to the
cobblestone walls. Foul smelling water dripped inside from the moat circling the palace above. Large
rats chased each other across the floor searching for food. This was no place for a queen.
It was just past midnight and all was quiet except for the occasional movement of a chain. Through the
heavy silence, a single set of footsteps echoed throughout the halls as someone climbed down the
spiral steps into the dungeon.
A young woman emerged down the steps dressed head to toe in a long emerald cloak. She cautiously

The guard began turning a large circular lever and the bars of the cell rose. The women took a deep
breath and continued past them.
She journeyed through a longer darker hallway where a series of bars and barriers were raised and
then lowered after she walked past them. Finally, she reached the end of the hall, the last set of bars
were raised and she stepped into the cell.
The prisoner was a woman. She sat on a stool in the center of the cell and stared up at a small window

The Theme of Incest in The Duchess of Malfi Essay
One can begin the discussion on the theme of incest in The Duchess of Malfi by understanding the
social conception of incest . Talcott Parsons says it is not so much the prohibition of incest in its
negative aspect(maintaining sexual relations) ...(Instead) Incest is withdrawal from the obligation to
contribute to the formation and maintenance of supra familial bonds on which major economic,
political and religious functions of the society are dependent.
Ferdinand s incestuous behaviour towards the duchess follows the similar pattern pointed above ,i.e.,
Ferdinand s aim is not the achievement of sexual relations with his sister. One may like to contest this

It is due to this threat from the outside that Ferdinand takes up the posture of an incestuous brother
obsessed with the blood and body of his sister, and going to the extent of surreptitiously entering her
room.
Ferdinand s intentions are thus to control the sexuality of his sister and thereby, making her the vessel
of his honour. Whigham here rightly notes that Ferdinand s incest turns itself into a paranoia as he
does not stand satisfied with the duchess marriage within an equal status group but denies her any
form of marriage, or rather, contamination through sexual indulgence. The vulgar extent to which his
abnormality works is best seen when he suggests Count Malateste to his sister as her prospective
husband .Working with the play on his name (mal testes),he hints at the fact that an impotent husband
would not contaminate his sister s blood.
But after Ferdinand gets to know that his sister has realized his fears and has contaminated herself, his
incestuous rage steps up a level. His speech then borders on necrophilia Have her meat serv d up by
bawds and ruffians [4.i.123].
Ferdinand s interest now shifts to the dead body of his sister.
From now on one also sees Ferdinand s paranoia turning itself into lycanthropia. This madness can be

Mining is an important activity, as it extracts the source of most objects, tools and items that are used
in many ways in society. There are drawbacks, however, as it brings environmental and social impacts,
like pollution of the waterways, change in the landscape and the concentration of labour force. In
Waihi, the mining plays an important role in sustaining the economy of the city, but it also brings
problems that have to be managed by the Newmont Gold Company. The focus of the field trip is to
locate the potential environmental issues that may be linked to mining by using a natural and physical
resource inventory of the Waikato Region and Bay of Plenty.
2. Resource Inventory
1.1 The Waikato Region
In the Waikato Region, it is possible to see the extensive use of its flat landscape for farming. Most of
the farming activity is composed of livestock, cows being the most abundant animal. There is a small
number of poultry farms. The forestry is mostly restricted to hilly areas, where native vegetation has
been put down. Cropland is abundant. The following table provides an inventory of the key physical
and natural resources of the area.

Should America Have An Official Language
I really enjoyed reading your post. I chose that the United States should have an official language, so
it was nice to see reasons why someone feels that we should not. Over half of the countries around the
world have a language that is considered their official language ( Official American, 2005). You
brought up a few good points to why it would not make sense to have an official language here in
America. You pointed out that we already exist with so many spoken languages here, so it would not
make sense if we changed it now. You also said that this is one of the reasons why America is
considered the mixing pot. Like you, I am a teacher and find it hard to communicate with some of my
students as well as their parents. I feel that

The Trash Sample
Within the trash sample I analyzed there were around 234 items thrown away within a week s period.
Many of the items thrown away were thrown away in pairs suggesting that two people live in the
dwelling that the sample was taken in. Some examples of items thrown away in pairs include,
Starbucks cups, church bulletins, and Bounty paper towels. Bounty paper products, napkins and paper
towels, show up on the record 24 times, suggesting that Bounty paper products are used over three
times per day, corresponding with meals. Other brands that show up in the sample often include Green
Giant, four times, Kroger Brand, twelve times. Within the Kroger brand items there are six plastic
ziploc bags, this suggests that the people who live in this home either take their lunch to work or
school, or pre package their snacks at home into serving sizes. The two church bulletins, and church
offering envelopes, suggest that both members of the household went to church once the week they
took their trash sample. Another interesting item thrown away was an old Tommy Hilfiger brand shirt.
The members of this household make enough money to throw away old clothes, suggesting that they
live comfortably. We also can tell what bank they use because they threw away a check box from
Regions bank. There was a lot of first aid items in the trash sample as well multiple boxes of bandages
and a box of non stick gauze pads this suggests that someone in the home had a wound that needed to
be dressed. One can

As you requested, the following is the outcome of my research on the above matter.
In dealings in PetroClean s shares, chapter 11 of the Listing Rule (LR) sets out the requirements for
related party transactions that an issuer with a premium listing of equity shares such as PetroClean is
required to comply with once its shares have been admitted to the official list. A related party is
defined by LR 11.1.4R, as a substantial shareholder, a person who is a director or shadow director of a
listed company or any of their associates. Therefore, Mr Dumont, his family and the trustees of his
family trust where he is a beneficiary may fall under the definition of a related party. Accordingly, as
an identified related person there are disclosure obligations which must be observed in relation to
dealings in PetroClean s shares.
A related party transaction is defined by LR 11.1.5R, among all, It is a transaction between a listed
company and a related party (other than a transaction in the ordinary course of business). In a related
party transaction, PetroClean must make a class 2 announcement, by notifying a Regulatory

Lynne Carroll Body Art Essay
Everyone has a unique way in expressing themselves in ways that they depict truly define who they
are. Body Art written by Lynne Carroll, elaborates on the idea of tattoos and piercings becoming a
popular practice for people in the world and the different perspectives of body art pertaining to
individuals. Tattooing and body piercing have become increasingly prevalent in popular culture over
the last 30 years (Carroll 1). Many different motivations for body art, as well as the explanation of this
idea of art are also mentioned in the text. I agree that each are reasonable ideas that provides logic
reasoning and sensible ideas that corresponds with the motivation of body art and the engagement of

According to Sweetman (1999) and Soyland (1997), tattoos and piercings also permit one to record
one s history on the body....important developmental milestones, participants experienced the desire to
mark their bodies in a relatively permanent way (Carroll 3). For example, when a person passes away,
it is common for someone to receive the person s memorial implanted on their body as a tattoo for
remembrance. Commonly, people who receive tattoos feature images and symbols that have a specific
meaning to their life or history. Peer acceptance as describes in the text is another sensible example of
why people can engage in body art. The majority of young people spend their days influenced by
those of the same age or same interest daily. In order for some young people to feel accepted , by
those around them typically endures in activities that will make them a part of the group they

for tattooing among 80 Australian youth, ages 6 to 17, was the desire for peer acceptance (Carroll

Organizing A Fundraising Event At The South And City...
Introduction
This report evaluates my own experience working within a team to organise a fundraising event at the
South and City College Enterprise Day. We were aimed to raise money for Teenager Cancer Trust by
selling handmade crafts. Below, I am going to reflect about my own experience and about how the
team worked together to achieve our goals. Team roles and problem solving techniques will be
evaluated and suggestions for improvement will be given as we have now learned from this
experience.
1. Team roles
Everyone in the team adopted different roles according to their skills and personalities. The roles we
played were not agreed by them team but just came according to each one s abilities. The team had
functional diversity, that is, different skills that put together allowed the team to achieve its goals
(West, 2012). This also provided the team with different ideas to share and achieve the best outcomes
(Sohmen, 2013). One member of the team was a resource investigator (Belbin, 1991 2006). She
creates contacts during the fair and explored new selling opportunities, engaging people to come to the
table. Another team member was more teamwork (Belbin, 1991 2006) being diplomatic and finding
ways to make people agree to each other. The team also had a sharper member (Belbin, 1991 2006)
that challenged the team ideas. She was helpful to improve and polish the team decisions, however it

Saturn Devouring His Son Essay
Saturn Devouring His Son is a 146 by 83 centimeter oil painting by the Spanish artist Francisco de
Goya y Lucientes. The painting was made between the years of 1819 to 1823 as a part of his series
entitled The Black Paintings .
Goya was a romantic painter and printmaker who was born in 1746 in Fuendetodos, Spain, on the 30th
of March. His parents were Jose Benito de Goya y Franque and Gracia de Lucientes y Salvador.
Lucientes s artistic style and the mysterious themes of his vivid masterpieces leave modern artists in
awe. The character and personality of Goya can be vividly seen through his astounding artwork. He is
known by many modern artists to be one of the very last master painters of his time.
His piece, Saturn Devouring His Son , refers to Saturn, a mythological god of Ancient Rome. Saturn
was thought by most to be the god of wealth, agriculture, and dissolution, among other things. In later
developments, Saturn became thought to also have domain over time. He was thought to be in his
reign during the Golden Age, which was a time of great economic success in Rome, when the people
did not have to work. In Roman mythology, Saturn had children and grew to fear a prophecy that
stated one of his sons would grow to be powerful enough to overthrow him, as he did with his own
father, Caelus. Hence, he ate ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Plato And The Crito
1. The Crito draws a fine line between preserving one s integrity and maintaining one s image.
According to Plato, an Ancient Greek philosopher, The other considerations which you mention of
money and loss of character and the duty of educating one s children are, I fear, only the doctrines of
the multitude, who, if they could, would restore people to life as readily as they put them to death and
with as little reason (67). One of Plato s main assertions is that emotions and priorities are bound to
fluctuate over time, therefore an emotional decision is not necessarily always the correct decision.

Operation Overlord
To this day, the world s largest invasion occurred on June 6, 1944. Operation Overlord, also known as
D day, needed to go well for the Allies because Germany had the French coast under their own power.
The United Kingdom preferred the idea of going to a weaker part of Germany s territory such as Italy.
America thought of a better plan; invade directly where Germany was, France. The three big leaders
of the Allies (Franklin Roosevelt, Winston Churchill, Joseph Stalin), came to an agreement to invade
France directly. They thought that an invasion at France would split the German Army in two parts.
The planning for D day took more than two years. As General Dwight D. Eisenhower said, This
operation is not being planned with any alternatives. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The German leaders had made the most mistakes during the invasion of Normandy. When Germany
was aware that the Allies were invading, the German commanders were absent from their post of duty.
One had taken off the weekend to celebrate his wife s birthday. Adolf Hitler was also asleep when the
invasion started. The German commanders were given the order not to wake him no matter what the
reason was. None of the commanders knew what to do, and did not want to make decisions without
consulting Hitler first. Germany had lost a lot of time waiting for Hitler to wake up. When he finally
woke up and was made aware of what was going on, he thought it was just a diversionary attack. He
told his commanders to be ready for the real one soon. If a country is fighting in a war, they should
have their troops ready at a minutes notice. Germany diverted some of the troops to a different area
because they thought that they were going to invade somewhere else. They assumed that this place
would be closer to England. A place near England was considered because Germany knew that the
Allies would have to transport a large quantity of weapons and troops for the invasion. The Allies
would have to transport the weapons and troops in a small amount of time. The Allies had chosen
Normandy for a reason that will be explained later. These were some of the basic mistakes that

Terry Teachout s Taking Sinatra Seriously
Surprisingly, despite his mentality of seeing himself as the next great singer, Frank had some trouble
singing at first. In his article, Taking Sinatra Seriously , Terry Teachout stated that Sinatra s voice
tended to sound a bit awkward, unaware, and uncomfortable in faster paced songs; it would take
around a decade for him to reach full vocal development (55). As a result, his friend Hank Sanicola
prompted Frank to take singing lessons. One of Sinatra s instructors was former Metropolitan Opera
singer, John Quinlan. Quinlan had him do vocal exercises as well as pronunciation work: attempting
to eliminate his Hoboken accent from songs. Fortunately, these lessons did work to Frank s overall
advantage; he felt much more confident with his singing, despite his old friends mocking him for
sounding so proper (Kaplan 53). Furthermore, while working early in his career with band leader and
skilled trombone player Tommy Dorsey, Frank attempted to pick up more skills from this master of
breath control. I used to watch Tommy s back, his jacket, to see when he would breathe , Sinatra later
admitted (Kaplan 105). Naturally, Frank worked to improve his lung capacity: he did so apparently by
swimming in pools for hours, holding his breath underwater ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The paleo Indians were the first to set foot on the continent. However, because they did not

paleo Indians hunted large mammals which soon became scarce due to their growing population. They

production of finished carbon steel in the country has been 42.636 million tonnes in 2005 06 as
compared to 29.77 million tonnes in 2000 01, indicating an average increase of 57 per cent. The high
share of the secondary sector in finished steel production is largely due to substantial supplies of
semis, the basic feed material from the main producers for conversion to needed shapes by rolling.

What Is Balance Sheet And Its Legal Form
Producing financial accounting statement is very crucial for business because it should adequately
provide a picture of the financial performance of a business. To concern this issue businesses produce
financial statements on regular basis adhering to one common standard. On of these documents is the
statement of financial position, also known as a balance sheet. It basically shows business s assets or
resources that it holds against its obligations or claims to other parties (McLaney and Atrill, 2014).
Balance sheet analysis is useful for investors to verify the profitability of investment for a business.

If the information listed in the document matches this formula than the company is liquid, i.e. it can
pay debts timely. Each of the three sections has several accounts within it to give an investor idea
about what the company owns and owes. Total assets on the balance sheet are grouped into two
categories: current and non current, referring to the time period that they are held. All assets should be
measured in monetary terms and controlled by the business. Also assets are divided into tangible
(machinery, plant, cars) and intangible assets (patent, brand). Equities and liabilities, which constitute
claims, should balance the assets (Accountingtools.com, 2015). It is called the principle of double
entry: for example, cash balance might decrease by the amount of a purchase but capital will increase
by the same amount. Liabilities are also classified into current and non current to indicate the amount
of obligations that must be shortly met and long term raised finance. Figures of liabilities and capital
show how much finance the owners invest and how much is contributed by the outside lenders.
Potential investors can derive a lot of useful relationships from the balance sheet figures, especially if
comparison is made over time in dynamics. Businesses usually prepare a statement of financial
position on the last day of its annual reporting period. In the UK companies are free to choose this
period and it is

Oedipus As A Great Representation Of Aristotle s...
Oedipus is regarded as a great representation of Aristotle s characterization of the tragic hero. He is
able to accomplish this task because of his ability to demonstrate virtue of wisdom regardless of the
flaws and the challenges he endures.
Introduction
Aristotle demonstrated the creation of a plot in literature. The method Aristotle adopted to create a plot
involved the use of tight nexus of ignorance whereby the word Harmatia was mistranslated. The
technique of plot creation enables an author to come up with a realistic illustration to demonstrate a
real life experience. A realistic tragic story should not have tragic pleasure. The nature of a tragic story
lacking the ability to change the order of events enables the readers not to experience emotional
distancing
The way Sophocles Oedipus exemplifies the definition of a tragic hero by Aristotle s is broad.
According to Sophocles Oedipus, the definition of Aristotle hero is viewed as someone of a high
position who is of valuable qualities in terms of character and moral values. The person does not
commit mistakes of his own. Aristotle s defines tragedy as a very important act done as results of
sympathy, and fear (Peter, 2005). Tragedy hero is also described as a person of nobility during birth
that brings about certain flaws that would results to his failure. The situation is referred to as
Harmatia. It is also indicated that true tragic hero also go through peripeteia. It is also revealed

Symbolism InThe Lamb, By William Blake
The poem The Lamb written by William Blake is a part of his collection of poems called Songs of
Innocence. His outlook on life when writing this collection of poems was optimistic and showed his
great appreciation for life and especially nature. In this poem, which is pastoral in nature, Blake uses
imagery to emphasize the innocence (bordering on naivety) that he sees in the world. This works in
tandem with Blake s pleasant diction to create a tone of comfort and well being, which reflects the
optimistic point of view that Blake had on life. Additionally the religious symbolism throughout the
poem highlights the love that the speaker as well Blake feels towards nature and all living beings.
Through the pleasant diction, the imagery of innocence and the religious symbolism, Blake spreads
his message and belief that all aspects of life are pure and are deserving of love because they were all
created by a benevolent and generous god. Blake consistently chooses words that create a feeling of
safety and welcoming. In the opening stanza Blake creates an overall sense of well being and comfort.
First, he describes the lamb s setting; Blake illustrates a stream by which the lamb feeds. By doing this
right away, Blake subtly incorporates the idea of nature which is characteristic of pastoral poems.
Blake views nature as a beautiful work of art which deserves to be appreciated, this is reflected in his
choice of the word stream, as opposed to another body of water such as a

Kenya s Location and Climate
Kenya is situated right along the equator, on the eastern coast of Africa. Its coastal region is southeast,
and to the east lays Somalia. Ethiopia is to the north, the Sudan to the northwest, and Uganda directly
to the west. The southwestern border of the country is marked by Lake Victoria, and southward lays
Tanzania.
Kenya s coastal area is hot and humid tropical region. Beautiful sandy beaches, lagoons and swamps,
and patches of rain forest line the coast. Inland, a vast plains area stretches over about three fourths of
Kenya. Its extremely dry climate and generally poor soil support only scattered plant life. The
highlands in the southwest receive enough rainfall and offer enough fertile soil to support extensive

Rising Star Cave Research Paper
About two years ago, scientists spelunked their way through the Rising Star Cave in Johnanesburg,
South Africa, hoping to find fragments of the creatures who had lived there eras before. They found
more than they had ever imagined more than 1,550 bones in a one square yard area and soon realized

On Thursday, a team of more than 60 scientists led by American paleoanthropologist Lee Berger

  • 2. The Epic Poetry Of The Epic Of Beowulf It was an epic of the Germanic time, a poem of a noble man with high power, who strived to be a victorious hero. Beowulf is one of the oldest poems of the old English language to have survived (Raffel 30). As a story that has withstood this epic and heroic age, Beowulf shows how, for the Anglo Saxon cultures of the time, the value these cultures placed on war and what they considered to be a hero. Written around the eighth and tenth centuries, surviving in a single tattered manuscript, its edges burned by fire, Beowulf provides a startlingly vivid glimpse into the early medieval past. Written in Old English, with a vocabulary that would have seemed old fashioned even to its very first audience, the poem recalls a heroic age in which monsters stalked men by night, dragons guarded hoards of precious gems and heirlooms swords, and heroes carried out great deeds of warfare that would later be commemorated by song and feast (Puchner 107). It has no known author and no known date of when this story was originally first told. It can be thought as one of the greatest stories to travel our world and make an impact on more than one generation. As Epic poetry has been and continues to be used by peoples all over the world to transmit their traditions from one generation to another, without the aid of writing. These traditions frequently consist of legendary narratives about the glorious deeds of their national heroes (Yoshida). Since these narratives did not need to be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Socialization Process In Society The socialization process can be described as the process one undergoes to learn the acceptable way to behave in society. From a young age, people are taught how to behave, what to think, and how to look. These variables create rules or norms in society today. Examples of a social norm would be gender rules today. Zimbardo used the example of a man being interested in ballet being seen as unusual and being criticized because of his interests (Zimbardo 144). This is a perfect example of socialization because in society we are groomed to believe that ballet is girly or feminine. While there is nothing about dance itself that is feminine, humanity has created an association with ballet and females. This association is a behavior that is learned during the socialization process. Another example of the socialization process common in today s society would be the gender rule that women are to be submissive in the relationship. Traditionally women stay home, take care of the kids, and cook meals. While none of these acts in them self are submissive an association with these acts and submission from a wife to a husband has formed. This was a perfect example of the socialization process for young girls growing up with the goal to have a family, a husband, and kids, only to perform wifely duties as the perfect life. This socialization though has now been broken with more women going into the workforce and some becoming the breadwinner of the family. Fathers staying home ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. California Earthquake Analysis On October six a small earthquake shook part of southern California. It started along the Newport Inglewood Fault near Long Beach, California. The quake itself was weak and not cause any damage to the local. However the significant part about this earthquake is that it originated from ten kilometers underground, or about 6.2 miles. Which was interesting because seismologists report on October seventh. That Rocks at that depth should be too hot and malleable to snag and break. Which is a key cause of earthquakes. This implies that there is some unknown process at the root of the fault. That caused this quack to happen says study coauthor Asaf Inbal, a seismologist at Caltech. It was also said that these earthquakes shouldn t be in direct threat ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Brian Caswell s A cage of Butterflies (1992) primarily explores how scientific research can become corrupted by the profit motive. Caswell s novel uses language techniques such as short sentence structure and structural techniques such as the constant changing of perspective in order to explore and emphasise how scientific research can become corrupted by the profit motive. He also shows the audience some consequences and effects of corruption to both the individuals and the corporations involved. Caswell uses language techniques to explore how scientific research can become corrupted by the profit motive. An example of this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One technique Caswell uses to emphasise this idea is the changing of perspective, from third person to first person in order to express the opinions of a particular character. This technique is evidenced in the quote, God, it was like a day trip around a sewer. The company owned him and his morals . In these sentences, Caswell presents Erik s opinion that Brady was corrupt and that the corruption made him into a unpleasant character to interact with thus explaining the effects of corruption to an individual s personality. • 7. Essay on Comparison between Panama and the United Arab... I chose to compare the United Arab Emirates to Panama because both countries are experiencing significant economic growth even though many countries are experiencing problems with the economy. Both countries are located in close proximity to important regional waterways. The United Arab Emirates has the Straits of Hormuz, while Panama has the Panama Canal. The Strait of Hormuz is a waterway between the Gulf of Oman and the Persian Gulf. It is bordered by Iran, United Arab Emirates, and Oman Musandam Peninsula. About 20% of all the world s petroleum passes through the Strait of Hormuz. At its narrowest, it is 21 nautical miles wide. Since 2008, the economy of the United Arab Emirates has been steadily increasing. In 2012, the economy of the United Arab Emirates grew 4.4%. Panama also is experiencing a period of significant economic growth. Over the past year, the economy of Panama grew 10%, putting Panama as one of the fastest growing economies in the Latin American as well as in the world. I believe the reason for such significant economic growth in both countries is mainly due to import/export of goods through the waterways located by each country. United Arab Emirates had imports totaling 273.5 billion dollars and exports totaling 314 billion in 2012. Panama s imported goods totaled 26.61 billion dollars and exported goods totaled 18.87 billion dollars in 2012. The top exported product is crude petroleum which accounts for approximately 44% of all exported goods. The top five imported products are jewelry, refined petroleum, broadcasting equipment, cars, and computers. In this short essay, I would try to discuss how the mise en scene and editing in the film V for Vendetta conveys and constructs meanings in the falling dominoes scene. Mise en scene (Props and Colour) In films, mise en scene means the director s control over what appears in the frame that means how the visual materials are staged, framed and photographed. In the falling dominoes scene, I would try to focus on the props and colour. In this scene, the most significant props used are V s mask and the falling dominoes. The simplest purpose for V s mask is to not disclose V a real identity, but simply to create him an icon . The mask becomes a motif in the film. It is a significant repetition that appear throughout the whole film and develop a dominate idea that is everyone will die but the idea can alive forever. The painting was made between the years of 1819 to 1823 as a part of his series entitled The Black Paintings . Goya was a romantic painter and printmaker who was born in 1746 in Fuendetodos, Spain, on the 30th of March. His parents were Jose Benito de Goya y Franque and Gracia de Lucientes y Salvador. Lucientes s artistic style and the mysterious themes of his vivid masterpieces leave modern artists in awe. The character and personality of Goya can be vividly seen through his astounding artwork. He is known by many modern artists to be one of the very last master painters of his time. His piece, Saturn Devouring His Son , refers to Saturn, a mythological god of Ancient Rome. Saturn was thought by most to be the god of wealth, agriculture, and dissolution, among other things. In later developments, Saturn became thought to also have domain over time. He was thought to be in his reign during the Golden Age, which was a time of great economic success in Rome, when the people did not have to work. In Roman mythology, Saturn had children and grew to fear a prophecy that stated one of his sons would grow to be powerful enough to overthrow him, as he did with his own father, Caelus. According to Plato, an Ancient Greek philosopher, The other considerations which you mention of money and loss of character and the duty of educating one s children are, I fear, only the doctrines of the multitude, who, if they could, would restore people to life as readily as they put them to death and with as little reason (67). Operation Overlord, also known as D day, needed to go well for the Allies because Germany had the French coast under their own power. The United Kingdom preferred the idea of going to a weaker part of Germany s territory such as Italy. America thought of a better plan; invade directly where Germany was, France. The three big leaders of the Allies (Franklin Roosevelt, Winston Churchill, Joseph Stalin), came to an agreement to invade France directly. They thought that an invasion at France would split the German Army in two parts. The planning for D day took more than two years. As General Dwight D. Eisenhower said, This operation is not being planned with any alternatives. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The German leaders had made the most mistakes during the invasion of Normandy. When Germany was aware that the Allies were invading, the German commanders were absent from their post of duty. One had taken off the weekend to celebrate his wife s birthday. Adolf Hitler was also asleep when the invasion started. The German commanders were given the order not to wake him no matter what the reason was. None of the commanders knew what to do, and did not want to make decisions without consulting Hitler first. Germany had lost a lot of time waiting for Hitler to wake up. When he finally woke up and was made aware of what was going on, he thought it was just a diversionary attack. He told his commanders to be ready for the real one soon. If a country is fighting in a war, they should have their troops ready at a minutes notice. Germany diverted some of the troops to a different area because they thought that they were going to invade somewhere else. They assumed that this place would be closer to England. A place near England was considered because Germany knew that the Allies would have to transport a large quantity of weapons and troops for the invasion. • 30. Terry Teachout s Taking Sinatra Seriously Surprisingly, despite his mentality of seeing himself as the next great singer, Frank had some trouble singing at first. In his article, Taking Sinatra Seriously , Terry Teachout stated that Sinatra s voice tended to sound a bit awkward, unaware, and uncomfortable in faster paced songs; it would take around a decade for him to reach full vocal development (55). As a result, his friend Hank Sanicola prompted Frank to take singing lessons. One of Sinatra s instructors was former Metropolitan Opera singer, John Quinlan. Quinlan had him do vocal exercises as well as pronunciation work: attempting to eliminate his Hoboken accent from songs. Fortunately, these lessons did work to Frank s overall advantage; he felt much more confident with his singing, despite his old friends mocking him for sounding so proper (Kaplan 53). Furthermore, while working early in his career with band leader and skilled trombone player Tommy Dorsey, Frank attempted to pick up more skills from this master of breath control. I used to watch Tommy s back, his jacket, to see when he would breathe , Sinatra later admitted (Kaplan 105). Naturally, Frank worked to improve his lung capacity: he did so apparently by swimming in pools for hours, holding his breath underwater ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 37. Symbolism InThe Lamb, By William Blake The poem The Lamb written by William Blake is a part of his collection of poems called Songs of Innocence. His outlook on life when writing this collection of poems was optimistic and showed his great appreciation for life and especially nature. In this poem, which is pastoral in nature, Blake uses imagery to emphasize the innocence (bordering on naivety) that he sees in the world. This works in tandem with Blake s pleasant diction to create a tone of comfort and well being, which reflects the optimistic point of view that Blake had on life. Additionally the religious symbolism throughout the poem highlights the love that the speaker as well Blake feels towards nature and all living beings. Through the pleasant diction, the imagery of innocence and the religious symbolism, Blake spreads his message and belief that all aspects of life are pure and are deserving of love because they were all created by a benevolent and generous god. Blake consistently chooses words that create a feeling of safety and welcoming. In the opening stanza Blake creates an overall sense of well being and comfort. First, he describes the lamb s setting; Blake illustrates a stream by which the lamb feeds. By doing this right away, Blake subtly incorporates the idea of nature which is characteristic of pastoral poems. Blake views nature as a beautiful work of art which deserves to be appreciated, this is reflected in his choice of the word stream, as opposed to another body of water such as a ...
