Pellia, a thalloid liverwort belonging to the class Hepaticopsida, is commonly found in moist habitats across temperate regions, particularly in parts of India such as Sikkim and the eastern Himalayas. The plant features a simple, dichotomously branched thallus and reproduces both vegetatively (via fragmentation and regeneration) and sexually (with distinct male and female organs). The sporogonium matures into a capsule containing hygroscopic elaters that aid in spore dispersal, ensuring effective reproduction.
