How Does La Contessa Respond To Isolation
The Sorrows of Unopposed Isolation Companionship is something all humans will encounter
throughout their lifespan, whether it be genuine or false. A genuine companion is one who offers
advice and support with positive and selfless intent. A bogus companion may offer advice and
companionship, but seeks some sort of disguised self benefit or is ashamed of the relationship. In the
Enlightenment novel, The Sorrows of Young Werther by Goethe and in the Baroque opera Le Nozze
di Figaro by Mozart, a theme of isolation due to lack of companionship is prevalent. The main
characters, Werther and La Contessa respectively, respond to isolation differently, resulting in a
different outcome for the two. Ultimately, the character of La Contessa ended up better off than
Werther because of how she responded to isolation. Based upon their response to isolation, I argue that
when no genuine companion is present, it is better for a person to pursue or accept bogus
companionship rather than no companionship, despite the circumstances that lead them to the isolated
state. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Werther, the protagonist, is obsessed with Charlotte, the main female character. Together, they form a
genuine companionship, spending time together and offering advice to one another. Despite their deep
connection, such as when they bonded over Klopstock, Charlotte rejects Werther romantically, as she
is already bound to Albert. Due to Werther s all in or all out mentality, when rejected by Charlotte
romantically, he first becomes obsessive and, due to Charlotte s steadfast rejection, chooses to isolate
himself from her completely. By removing Charlotte from his life, he had no other companions to turn
to other than Wilhelm, a character with whom he corresponded with only through

Significance of travel in Basho s Narrow Road Through the...
Questing for Connections to the Past Waldo Ralph Emerson said Though we travel the world over to
find the beautiful, we must carry it with us or we find it not. In Bashō s Narrow Road through the
Backcountry, exactly this sentiment is realized in the literary capture of North Japan s natural beauties
on his journey for poetic enlightenment and motivation. This work is the story of the journey that
Bashō began near the end of his life in order to attain inspiration for writing poetry, specifically in
haiku type forms. Bashō s chosen path mirrored that of Saigyō, a well respected monk and poet, which
ran through the locations of residence and inspiration of various other notable Japanese poets and
writers. The travel tale has long been ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
All of these sites possess their own feeling and give Bashō unique motivations. Some of the places
provide morose poetic inspiration, for which Bashō is commonly known, while others cause the poet
to drift away from his common tone and write in a much more upbeat manner; a testament to the true
power of the natural beauty of Japan and impact of historical poets on Bashō. This variety calls to the
different inspirations which Bashō was seeking. Instead of maintaining a stagnant style, as many of
the less travelled poets would have, Bashō s journey allows him to not only write about sights that he
would have never otherwise experienced, but it also allows him to connect with other writing styles
that he ordinarily may not have explored, causing a stark development of his own writing style.
A common thread in all of Bashō s inspirational writers, as pointed out by Haruo Shirane in the essay
Double Voices and Bashō s Haikai in Kerkham s Matsuo Bashō s Poetic Spaces: Exploring Haikai
Intersections, is that all of these writers are considered to be reclusive poets. Though the Genji ( the
famous lovers ), Ariwara no Narihira and Ono no Komachi were all well

Creating a visual schedule can help children understand time management. Students will also learn to
anticipate what comes next, which can help ease transitions. Making a visual schedule may even put
an end to the dreaded question, What happens next?
Pre K Attendance Ideas
Start the day off right with an engaging activity as soon as the children walk through the classroom
door. Implementing a sign in activity each day will help you take stock of the children as they are
dropped off each morning. It will give you the chance to personally greet each child, as well as
quickly assess their temperament and health. Use some of the many ideas here and add another
element to your lesson plan.

1930s Movie Research Paper
1st Draft Movies are a big part of everyday life. Millions of Americans go to the movies every week.
Have you ever stopped to think about what movies used to be like, or how movies became what they
are today? All of that can be traced back to the 1930 s. The 1930 s decade has been nostalgically
labeled The Golden Age of Hollywood. (Dirks, Tim) There were many innovations that established the
foundation of modern film. The 30s was the decade of the sound and color revolutions and the
advance of the talkies . (Dirks Tim) Talkies was a term used to describe films with sound. The 1930s

One of the most popular film types in the 1930 s were gangster films. Gangster films were a visual
representation of all the crime and scandals that took place during this era. Popular gangster films of
the 1930 s include Little Caesar, Scarface, and The Public Enemy. Little Caesar was the first gangster
film presented as a Talkie ( The History of Motion Pictures ). Little Caesar is a film about a small time
gangster (Caesar Rico Bandello) and his plot to hit a big score (Little Caesar (1931)). Gangster films
were extremely successful in the 30 s, but horror movies were starting to make an introduction as well.
In 1931, Universal Studios released Dracula, starring Bela Lugosi ( The History of Motion Pictures ).
Dracula was a staple in the horror film industry, and a building block to modern day vampire movies.
It was based on the novel by Bram Stoker. Despite Dracula and all its success, in 1939 one of the most
famous films of all time was released. The Wizard of Oz, an American musical, comedy, and drama,
was released by Universal and produced by Metro Goldwyn Mayer. The Wizard of Oz was a very
successful adaptation of the 1900 novel The Wonderful Wizard of Oz by L. Frank Baum (The Wizard
of Oz). The Wizard of Oz is a tale about a young girl named Dorothy Gale (Judy Garland) who gets
swept away in a tornado and taken to a magical land. In this magical land, she meets many new
friends and foes in her journey to meet the Wizard of Oz. Everyone in the land tells her that the wizard
can help her return home and grant her new friends their wants of a brain, heart and courage (The

Argumentative Essay On Six Flags
Would you ever like to go to a special, amazing, extraordinary field trip? If so then what was it. Have
you ever heard of six flags, it is a water park that has all type of slides, roller coasters and more? Well
six flags are one of the field trips that I would want to go to. Many teachers argue that the field trips
are not educational, but I argue that six flags has many educational things. Ranging from classroom
sessions and swimming in water with dolphins to learning about and actually sleeping with the sharks,
these programs are designed to allow individualized or group learning opportunities. Also it is a great
place to have fun with your friends and family. There is also a very cool slide that they made this year.
It is called the King Cobra, how does that sound. To begin, six flags is very educational because
students will be put to the test with hands on learning to master the math and science of our coasters.
Following the assemblies, students are able to participate in four special park activities and prizes.
Plus, you ll have full access to all rides and attractions and a complete curriculum, featuring data
collection and workbook problems. They will be asked questions about rides and get prizes if they get
the correct answer. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Clearbrook Case Study
After being able to read my Professor s comments, I realized to have a successful CFSC Plan, there
needs to be more information on the financial well being of Clearbrook. Clearbrook s finances are not
at my disposal in regards to what can be extended on and what can be utilized as it stands. There may
be a building available for Clearbrook to use as they would see fit for help with children in the Joliet,
IL. area, without further investigation I have no idea on if this is feasible. The next area that would
need more time and effort is scheduling interviews for potential teachers, aides and volunteers, of
whom all must have background checks for security purposes for working with children with special
needs. Another possibility is training individuals the proper techniques for dealing with children who
have special needs in certain areas. Not all children who have autism are low functioning, but they
may be smart enough to learn an access code to get into a computer and cause a little chaos. I

getting that extra time in for a child, but with a little help from a teacher, the primary caregiver has a
better chance of enjoying fun activities with their child, especially if there is no cost to the activities.
Here is where teachers and schools can come up with low cost if not free activates that children can
enjoy with their family members. The school can only put together so much for the community to
attend with their children, if the event is enjoyable, the more families will come to it in the future, but
if it s a flop, there will need to be revisions and a meeting or two to see what improvements can be

In humans/animals, the main cells that store fat for energy are adipocytes. These fat cells are found
under the skin, in the abdominal cavity and surround major organs. The fatty tissue is the body s main
means of storing energy for long periods of time. Lipids, like triglycerides are stored in the adipocytes
until ready to be used by the body for energy. Fat is broken down through metabolism in the
mitochondria of the cell. The triglycerides are broken down into glycerol and 3 fatty acids. The
glycerol can be easily converted to glyceraldehyde 3 phosphate, an intermediate of glycolysis. From
there it can go through the Krebs Cycle and electron transport chain to make ATP. The 3 fatty acids

Every cell membrane incorporates a fluid mosaic model. The mosaic of protein molecules embedded
in a lipid bilayer. It s fluid as most proteins and lipid molecules drift through it. The membrane
consists of a phospholipid bilayer embedded with various proteins. The proteins help to get
polar/hydrophilic molecules through the plasma membrane. Polar molecules have difficulty passing
thru the hydrophilic membrane. Nonpolar molecules however, easily pass thru. The proteins can be
integral proteins, meaning they go all the way through the lipid bilayer or peripheral proteins that sit
on the hydrophilic outer layer and wait for something to happen. The layers are somewhat fluid,
allowing the proteins to move across them. See diagram below.
No fat diets can actually do more harm than good. The body needs moderation of all energy producing
macronutrients; fats, carbohydrates and proteins. By not eating any fat, the body starts to utilize the
fats stored in the body, thus depleting the stores and people lose weight. However, once those stores
are gone, the good fats or HDL s, are no longer able to filter out the bad cholesterol. This can lead to
increased cholesterol levels in the blood and heart disease. A no fat diet also causes poor vitamin
absorption of the necessary fat soluble vitamins A, D, E and K. Fats transport those vitamins from the
liver to various parts of the body.

Contemporary Cultural Diversity Issues in Criminal Justice...
Cultural diversity can be defined as the cultural differences that exist between people such as,
language, traditions, and the religious beliefs along with the way society carries itself. It is inevitable
in the United States to notice the wide variety of cultures that with the years have come to share this
land with Americans.
With the increase of diversity in the country, comes a wide variety of issues facing all sectors. In the
criminal justice sector we see issues such as racial profiling, discrimination amongst others.
In this paper the issues of excessive force against minorities and discrimination will be discuss with
examples from recent years that have made the news.

Gomez 33 years of age was pronounced dead at Denver Health. He had been wounded in the shoulder,
stomach and mortally wounded in his leg.
The minority community in Denver was outraged at the fact that an unarmed male was shot and killed
by police.
After an investigation into this incident The DA s office did not charge Officer Campbell. There was
only one actual witness to the killing and his credibility was questioned. Apparently this is one of
many other incidents against minorities in the city of Denver. As a result and investigation into the
Denver Police Department was initiated. The Investigation was geared towards trying to identify if
Officers were racially biased and trigger happy when it came to minorities (Maher, 2008).
In my opinion the death of Jason Gomez like any other death is tragic and it saddens a community.
Whether Officer Campbell acted accordingly is something one may never comprehend. Although the
information presented does give the officer the benefit of the doubt, it is not clear why Officer
Campbell felt he needed to shoot Mr. Gomez an additional four times. We will never know what truly
happened on the night of December 19, 2007.
The second example presented is the issue of discrimination against female officers within law
enforcement.

Movie Analysis of Jaws .
Released in 1975, Jaws was probably one of the best adventure, action, and suspense films of that era.
Directed by Steven Spielberg with the following staring main cast members Roy Scheider as Martin
Bordy (chief police officer), Richard Dreyfuss as Matt Hooper (marine biologist), Robert Shaw as
Quint (local fisherman), Murray Hamilton as Larry Vaughan (town mayor). Jaws the movie, is not like
any other any other fish story. The film is about a gigantic 26 foot shark that has an appetite for
people; how horrifying is that? The unusual story takes place on the seasides of Amity Island. When

His acts of heroism are acted out several times throughout the film. Of course, he also had his boat
captain and a marine biologist along for the wild ride. This plays out to be a team like environment, in
which they contributed their different individual strengths towards the common goal; hunting down
the massive man eating shark.
This film also used countless props; however, there is truly only one that needs to be discussed, and
goes by the name of Jaws. This massive great white shark was a 26 foot mechanical beast. This
enormous steel gutted fish was connected to a crane arm which allowed the shark to tread just
underneath the surface of the water at a rapid rate. This gives the realistic feel of the amount of power
this shark has; being able to swim at such rates of speed. This adds to the fright element of movie
because we all know that big animals can be intimidating. Animals that are big and fast are even
scarier. Animals that are big, fast, and hungry, are a force to be reckoned with.
The film, Jaws, uses a variety of different photographic techniques. Panning was used quite often in
this movie to remind the viewer that they were a long distance from the shoreline. Additionally, plenty
of filming was done underwater. This allowed the audience to get a realistic feel for the surrounding
environment. The brilliant underwater imagery resulted with help from the naturally dark and chilling
emptiness of the foreign ocean world. A notable climatic shot is

Cheerleaders Hard Work
Hard Work Should Pay Off
Hard work and dedication pays off for athletes but goes unnoticed for cheerleaders. The hard work
that is put in by cheerleaders needs to be recognized. Allowing cheerleaders to earn an athletic letter
but not be a part of the Chillicothe High School (CHS) C Club, like the other athletic letter recipients,
is being unjust to the cheerleaders. Cheerleaders should be able to be a part of the CHS C Club

Cheerleaders, along with athletes in varsity sports, receive an athletic letter at the end of the season,

human race, women were a part of a community, no race was inferior or superior, there was peace and

Oppositional Defiant Disorder Research Paper

Oppositional Defiant Disorder
Oppositional Defiant Disorder is a tricky diagnosis when it comes to teens. Let s face it, a whole lot of
teens are defiant by nature, so let s take a closer look at this complex disorder. At times, even the best
brightest will defy the rules, push limits, and challenge authority. It is the nature of adolescence. The
difference between normal adolescent rebellion and O.D.D. is that teens with this disorder will thrive
on pushing buttons creating conflict. When it comes to teens with oppositional defiant disorder, it s all
about control and power.
Every parent/child relationship has a give take when it comes to the endless power struggle of

This is where parenting a teen with Oppositional Defiant Disorder gets tricky.
Let s talk about two major tools you can use when struggling with setting limits and the power
struggles that come along with Oppositional Defiant Disorder.
First, pick your battles. Now, I m not saying let a teen get away with anything, by now most of you
realize that I m all about teaching teens personal responsibility, but, when you know that the outcome
is going to be conflict, you have the option of picking the best time and place for this battle. If
delaying an argument is the best option to get your teen out the door and onto the school bus, push the
pause button, let it go temporarily, and come back to the situation when time is on your side. This gets
your teen out the door and keeps them on task, and it allows both sides time to reflect on the situation.
Second, know what rules bend and what rules break. In an ideal world, all rules would be followed,
without issues, but this is the really real world, and a parent that knows when to be flexible is going to
have less conflict, and is less likely to find themselves caught up in a power

Speech On The Flag Desecration Amendment

that it is what the people of the country and your district, that you are representing, wanted to be done.
The people for the amendment also stated that burning the flag wasn t a way of speech that it was a
violent act that people should be punished for. The people such as Tanya Johnson, Patricia Pearlman,
and Anna Ross that say that voting for this amendment would violate the First Amendment and would

Although sterilizing instruments for procedures is an effective way to reduce the risk of
contamination, not all instruments are able to endure the level of heat with this process. Many
endoscopes, for example, are flexible to allow for the ease of movement in the body and are not made
of sturdy material, but delicate ones. The heat used in sterilization could potentially damage the
instrument creating a vehicle for bacteria to enter the body. Some delicate pieces could be destroyed

family (581). Much of this is due to her fixation with old codes of behavior and traditional Southern
values, especially with regards to the strict morality she imposes on her daughter Caddy which
partially contributes to Caddy s promiscuity, something that proves to be destructive and a source of
conflict for both individuals and the whole Compson family. Nussler correctly states that Mrs.
Compson remains inflexible and self centered while exercising a power that proves to be destructive
to the family unit (581). This gets at the two main aspects of why Mrs. Compson s influence on the
destruction of the family can t be underestimated. One, Mrs. Compson is self centered, removed,
stubborn, and apathetic about her children outside of Jason. This is always going to be problematic for
the family, regardless of whether the person who has these traits is a mother, father, son, or daughter.
What exasperates her influence, though, is the fact that she is the matriarch of the family. She holds a
more potent and direct power than of the other family members, and

The NYSE is primarily an auction market where, unlike dealer markets, most transactions are between
an actual buyer and seller. One market maker is designated for each firm, the specialist, who oversees
the market for the firm s stock. All offers to buy or sell the firm s shares at a specific price (limit
orders) are recorded by the specialist in the order book. An incoming order to buy or sell the stock at
the current price is executed either in a transaction with a floor trader, against and existing limit order,
or against the specialist s ask or bid quotes. Such an order is either filled at the best available quote the
lowest ask price in the case of a buy order and the highest bid price in the case of a sell order or at a
price inside the quotes. The specialist participates only in a small portion of the NYSE transactions,
whereas on NASDAQ a dealer has traditionally been on one side or the other of essentially every
transaction and is on both sides of all inter dealer transactions. From 1998 to 2001 specialists
participated in approximately 25 30 percent of all transactions on the NYSE about equally divided
between the buy side and the sell side. Specialist participation in transactions varies from stock to
stock, and is inversely related to a stock s trading volume (Madhavan and Sofianos, 1998).

The Big Uneasy By Harry Shearer
The Big Uneasy by Harry Shearer is a documentary about the disastrous flooding of New Orleans
during the Hurricane Katrina in a different viewpoint. While mass media describe the flood as well as
the hurricane as a natural disaster, Shearer claims that the flooding was actually a man made disaster,
not a natural one; and the film contains comprehensive investigations with scientific data to support
the claim. The Big Uneasy highlights on the ineffective design and maintenance of the flood

Before Mr. Go was built, the Corps claimed that the canal would help the city develop and make

How Did Martin Luther King Influence The Civil Rights...
The Civil Rights movement gained recognition during the 1950s and 1960s. African Americans fought
for equality for many years but did not see any results. Even though slavery ended, there was still
segregation in public facilities and prejudice in the society. There was a drastic change in the
movement when the Supreme Court shut down segregation in schools. African Americans were
influenced by both Rosa Parks and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr, who ends up becoming their leader.
From the 1950s to 1960s, people saw a remarkable change in the movement through nonviolent
protests, the Supreme Court decision, Parks and Dr. King s influences. During the early 1950s, blacks
started questioning the segregated school systems. Thurgood Marshall fought a case with the support
of an organization called National Association for the Advancement of Colored People or NAACP.
Marshall was a lawyer, who fought against the segregation in law schools as well as other graduate
programs. Later, the graduate schools are desegregated. Another case known as Brown v. Board of
Education of Topeka questioned the separate but equal doctrine; it addressed the issues children face
due to segregation in schools. The Supreme Court said that racial segregation in schools violates the
constitution. However, this decision ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

On Liberty Speech Analysis
This essay will explain Mill s view regarding freedom of expression and apply it to a modern concern
regarding hate speech. In On Liberty, Mill argues in favor of nearly unrestricted freedom of expression
in accordance with the harm principle because limiting the opinions of others hinders the marketplace
of ideas or clashing of views to allow for the truth to rise to the top through refinement or exchanging
false beliefs for truths. Mill explicitly states that silencing speech is an evil that robs the human race,
posterity as well as the existing generation.... It robs those who disagree with these silenced opinions.
Mill s view is utilitarian because minimizing speech is socially advantageous because it allows people
to learn from the choices, actions, and experiences of others. Additionally, this view is utilitarian
because limiting speech would lead to even worse harm than simply tolerating hateful or harmful
speech.
The main arguments that Mill presents in favor of his view in favor of almost complete freedom of
expression. First, allowing government censorship allows for the government to act with infallibility
to what is right or true. To refuse hearing opposing opinions because the government is sure the belief
to be false is to assume that their certainty is absolute certainty. Instead, allowing for near unlimited
freedom of expression allows for the consideration of thoughts. This allows us as citizens to evaluate
and critique other government and our own governments that have been wrong in the past. By
allowing for the presentation of contrary views, we as humans can be aware of past mistakes and
come to know the truth. For example, allowing for Galileo arguing that the Earth revolves around the
Sun allowed for correcting the false belief that the Earth is at the center of the universe. While this
allowance can lead to risky behaviors, prejudices or other harms, Mill hold that regardless, it is worth
these risks and challenges because this can lead to finding truths or correcting truths. Second, Mill
argues that allowing for falsehoods to be spoken, even if wholly false, can have some kernels of truth
that lead to truths for that issue or truths of other issues. Suppressing speech can lead to

people are the age twenty they have decided whether or not they are going to smoke or not. Kids see
attractive people in movies and commercials smoking, or cartoon animals smoking and they think it is

Satires Used In Macfarlane Behind The Media
MacFarlane Behind the Voices Seth MacFarlane has voiced over 142 characters from 30 different
titles, but he is probably most famously known for his role as Peter Griffin on Family Guy. His love
for animation began around the age of two, when he was able to draw cartoon characters like Fred
Flintstone; and around the age of nine, he published comic strips in the local newspaper of his
hometown in Kent, Connecticut. Seth went on to pursue a degree in Fine Arts at Rhode Island School
of Design, and around age 24 he became an executive producer. He then went on to write a few hit
adult television series in the 2000 s including Family Guy and American Dad; both in which he voices
characters. An ample amount of his success comes from the way he incorporates satirical techniques
into his scripts. MacFarlane demonstrates different satirical techniques in Family Guy and American
Dad, while exploring different institutionalized ideas of race, gender, and religion. Satires used in
many ways to move an audience, especially on television. Family Guy for instance, utilizes many
satirical techniques in it s episodes. An adequate amount of MacFarlane s episodes attack sensitive
topics of life, such as: racism, women s rights and religion. In season seven, episode two of Family
guy, the episode starts in a diner where all the servers are caricatures of famous icons of the 1950 s

The R V. Dudley And Stephens Case Essay
The R v. Dudley and Stephens case occurred in 1884. In May of that year, four men left Southampton,
England for Australia on the Mignonette, a private sailing yacht. These men were Captain Thomas
Dudley (31), mate Edward Stephens (36), seaman Edmond Brooks (38), and cabin boy Richard Parker
(17). While crossing the South Atlantic near the Cape of Good Hope in July, bad weather struck the
yacht and it sunk. The men managed to escape into the lifeboat, and two one pound tins of turnips
were the only food they subsisted on for four days. They caught a small turtle on the fourth day that
lasted eight days, and were without food for another eight days after. The only fresh water they had
was the rain that came from time to time. On the sixteenth day of drifting Richard Parker became ill
from drinking seawater. On the eighteenth day Dudley and Stephens approached Brooks with the idea
that they should sacrifice one person to save the rest. Brooks dissented, and they did not consult
Parker as he was ill. On July 24th Dudley and Stephens reasoned with Brooks, saying that since they
had families to take care of it was most logical to kill the boy and save themselves. They proposed that
if there were no vessels in sight the next day they would kill Parker. As there were no vessels, Dudley
killed Parker by slitting his throat; the boy was so ill he did not resist. Brooks dissented until Parker s
death, but also fed on the blood and flesh of Parker with the two accused for four days.

Different Structures Of The Brain Essay
Structures of the Brain
The Brain Stem
The brain stem or the medulla is the closest to the spinal cord. The brainstem is responsible for most
of the human bodily functions. The brain stem is critical for human survival and normal human
functions. The brain stem is also responsible for information of pain and touch from the head and
neck; it is also responsible for the inputs from the face and the mouth. Reticular formation is a group
of neurons, nuclei, that are important for sleep and wakefulness. In reticular formation there is nuclei
that are a major source of neurotransmitter serotonin. Serotonin is important for regulating mood and
activities.
The Pons
The pons is the region above the brainstem. The pons contains the locus coeruleus, a region of cells
that belong to the reticular formation. The neurotransmitter norepinephrine are necessary for arousal
and attention. These neurons are found in the brain and spinal cord.
The Cerebellum
Connected to the brain stem and is located in the back of the brain is the cerebellum. The cerebellum
is responsible for motor coordination and also some learning involving movement. Once someone
learns a new motor action that information is held in the cerebellum.
The Midbrain
The midbrain is located above the pons. The midbrain has an area called the substantia nigra which
holds different nuclei. The midbrain is responsible for the body s movement that is not covered by the
cerebellum. The neurotransmitter dopamine, that produced by

The Revolution Of Modernism And The Mesopotamian Architecture
A building is designed for functionality. This principle has served as the cornerstone of architecture in
the United States and throughout the world since the first hut of the Mesopotamian civilization. As the
centuries go by, this principle started to deviate. With a series of political debris left over from the
World War II, the Cold War and the revitalizing economic policies of the Reagan Era, Canadian
American architect Frank Gehry was able to shatter the established architectural norm of the modern
era and pen an iconoclastic style called deconstructivism in the postmodern 1980s, leaving a
resounding legacy in the architecture industry.
The social and political debris remaining by the end of World War II and the Cold War stifled the
possibility of a new architectural movement. The revolution of modernism, a form of architecture in
which function dictated form, in the postwar decades turned into a routinized corporation that headed
towards unpromising directions as it instigated the diminishment of architectural meaning and artistic
expression. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

the American middle class neighborhood. This method became a first in the United States and caught

the power of architecture to counter the forces of capital; otherwise, its capacity to sustain any critical

Racial Discrimination On Minority Groups
Practically, every country in the universe has a minority populace that can be either national, ethnic,
linguistic, or a religious group. Minority concerns have been on the itinerary of the United Nations for
more than half a century. In 1948, the General Assembly asserted that the United Nations could not
remain detached to the providence of minorities. That explicates why the 2005 World Summit
Outcome reaffirmed the rights of minorities and advocacy to the efforts of the United Nations (Zanden
and James 153). Does discrimination on minority groups have a basis in our daily lives? It is from that
rationale that this paper will endeavor at elucidating on the motives why I think discrimination on
minority groups has no grounds in our society. By venturing into various forms of prejudice, such as
racial differences, gay, lesbians, transgender, and the disabled people, we will be able to understand
the role these groups of people play in our society.
Racial prejudice is a stealth moral and a social cancer influencing individuals and populations
globally, especially racial minorities. It can be detected by the indexing of its many symptoms and
visitations that comprise trepidation, parochialism, alienation, segregation, prejudice, and loathing.
From a personal point of understanding, ignorance denotes the single reason racism exists worldwide.

The Principles of Leadership, Group Dynamics and Team Building
In this paper, I will discuss many theories and the impact they have on leadership, group dynamics and

principles in the future.
Vision
Manning and Curtis define leadership as social influence that results in change. It is initiating action
that results in change. (Manning G., p. 1) Dynamic leadership is the driver behind performance and
results. Leaders need to create a clearly define vision, and communicate it in such a way as to earn buy
in from others. Clarity of objectives will drive the right action, which will insure deliverables and
goals are achieved. (Gill, 2015) The principle behind vison is that everyone is aware of the desired
goal and vision, and can then efficiently work toward accomplishing that goal. A leaders ability to
communicate the vision and achieve a common goal and focus dramatically affects the effectiveness
of their team and the success or demise of the business.
I have found that leaders who fail to motivate, or lack self confidence to be weak and ineffective.
Good leaders are knowledgeable and trustworthy they are people who are ambitious and results
driven. It has been my experience that when leaders lack the ability to remove obstacles or clearly
define the objective, the teams fail to produce the results or meet the deliverables. I have had leaders

Vegetarianism In Michael Hollinger s Naked Lunch
Naked Lunch is a short play, written by Michael Hollinger in 2003. In this single scene play, a pair of
exes are having an uncomfortable meal together. A miss matched vase of flowers on the table, a small
vase with too many flowers in it or a large vase with too few (Meyer, 1086). Wine was being
consumed, or at least a bottle of wine has been opened (1086). The male character, Vernon, had
personally prepared the meal, steak, and was upset when she would not eat the meat. The woman,
Lucy, explained that she had become a vegetarian, but Vernon could not accept this as an explanation.
He proceeded to tease and then to ridicule her for her newfound vegetarianism. He could not accept
her choice to decline the steak, seeming to take it personally. His insults turned to insistence,
eventually escalating to literal force. By the end he literally forces her through volume, and
forcefulness, to eat the meat against her will, I SAID EAT THE MEAT! (Meyer, 1089). She capitulates

The number of international adoptions taking place in the United States is steadily increasing. Many
people looking to start a family in the United States are turning to international adoptions because the
process is easier than adopting within this country. However, many of these adoptive parents are not
ready for the challenges of adopting a child from another country. Not only are the adoptive parents
and the children at different levels of readiness to attach but the child is forced into a new culture as
well. Many of the children adopted internationally have been mistreated prior to adoption and as a

A number of children when adopted come to the United States with nothing from their cultural pasts
and must face the anti immigrant sentiment that is prevalent in our society. Many adopted children are
mourning the loss of their cultural context in many ways that adoptive parents and practitioners are
not prepared to deal with.
Although the number of international adoptions are increasing in the United States there have been
few studies focusing on the adjustment, identity, and attachment of international adoptees. There is
very little research on adult adoptees and the ethnic/cultural socialization and identity developmental
process. According to Freidlander (1999), most of the available research considers self esteem or
adjustment of adopted children, not the process by which they begin forming an understanding and
acceptance of their identity.
This topic merits attention in the research field so this study proposes to understand the adoptive
experience of internationally adopted adults in terms of their identity development, attachment
experience, and adaptation to life in an American family. A qualitative interview approach will be used
while interviewing internationally adopted adults to understand the complex experience of adoption
and how one adapts to this experience. This study is developed in hopes to inform prospective

A Positive Outlook on a Divorce
Divorce is always a dreadful experience in a person s life, especially a child s . When parents divorce,
children are left hopeless and confused. A divorce can cause a child to have a variety of different
reactions. The effects on the child are much more important than the actual divorce. A divorce causes
the most damage to the children in the divorce. Each child sees a divorce differently, but most
divorces have a negative impact on the child s life. When I was a teengager, my parents spilt up. This
was an extremely hard time for me because I was so confused. Their divorce caused me to become

Divorce has negative effects on children because if children are left out from one of their parents, they
are more likely to have lower self esteem and psychological damage (Portnoy et al. 126). So, some
children of divorced parents have behavior problems, such as, depression, low self esteem actions and
poor school performance (Portnoy et al. 126). Children often feel abandoned and unwanted and some
of them also feel that they are responsible for their parents getting a divorce.
Children usually feel a lot of pain and emotional conflict during and after divorce. Whether they say it
or not, parents can never be sure how deeply children are affected by the divorce and the struggles
around it. After a divorce, the child is left with a bunch of responsibilities that they might not be able
to handle on their own. In a research conducted by Mavis E. Hetherington, found The play patterns of
children from divorced families, in comparison to those of children in non divorced families, were less
socially and cognitively mature when measured shortly after divorce (Hetherington). A divorce affects
a child in many different ways. The hardest responsibility the children have to go through is knowing
how to accept the circumstances taken by their parents. This was hard for me because I had no one to
talk to. I had to try and overcome my feeling of being sad and frustration without showing my peers. I

Manipulative Techniques In Tartuffe
Throughout Moliere s Tartuffe both Cleante and Dorine attempt to expose Tartuffes hypocrisy,
confront Marianne of her frailty and expose the folly of Orgon. They use different strategies to
complete this task, and in the end, the tasks are accomplished. Cleante uses a reason based style, while
Dorine used a manipulative method to accomplish her goals. Although both seem to affect this goal, in
the end, Cleante s strategy seems to prevail.
Dorine is the lady s maid to Marianne and she primarily attempts to confront the frailty of Marianne.
Moliere reveals that Dorine s character is one that primarily relies on passive aggressive actions. This
is seen through her conversations throughout the play, particularly in Act 2 Scene 3. She also is
directly aggressive in the words she sometimes uses. This direct and blunt action is seen clearly in Act
2 Scene ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Before this action, she was waiting for them to work it out. She does not have patience and jumps in
with that comment toward the two of them. Act 2 Scene 3 is the main confrontation between Dorine
and Marianne. Dorine tells Marianne that she (Marianne) is not playing her role properly and
confronts the fact that Marianne has been passive in her relationship with Valere. Although Marianne
wants out of the marriage scheme set up by Orgon(2.3, line 6) and claims to love Valere, she has
decided to kill herself instead of address the situation head on. Unfortunately, Valere does not stand up
for his marriage with Marianne. Because of this, Marianne feels defeated and says that she will take
his advice and marry Tartuffe. Valere then proclaims that because Marianne

Tuckman s Stages Analysis
2 out of 4 Tuckman s Stages
The Tuckman 4 stages all have to do with a group trying to work on a project together or maybe even
playing a sport. Each stage can be seen in a part of everyone s daily life whether they are at school,
home, on the field, and or in movies. The most common stages are forming and storming.
Forming is when a group comes together for the first time and everyone tries to get to know each
other. This is the first stage. No roles are placed within the team and many members are feeling
multiple feelings like anxiousness, nervousness, and some might be clueless on the work. I have
experienced forming when I played softball for the Mooresville Recreation Department in my town.
The rec department would blindly place girls

For 4 years it was a loose association of Montreal merchants that tried to break the hold Hudson s Bay

Gregory, McLeod and Co., which brought more people in. In 1810, with the over harvesting of
animals, and fort being destroyed in the War of 1812, and the Selkirk Concession for the Hudson s
Bay Company, it all began to lead to the downfall of the Northwest Company. Fort William was then
seized and people began to leave the company. In 1821 the Northwest Company merged with the

Key Principles Of Play At A Forest School
Learner Name: Rachel Fleming Cohort: Course A May 2014 Module 1 Assessment Task 1 Learning
and Development at a Forest School Programme SG1/3/NQ/003 2.7 Evaluate the key principles of
play and their relevance to Forest School Rachel Fleming Course A May 2014 Play is an essential
part of every child s life and is vital for the enjoyment of childhood as well as social, emotional,
intellectual and physical development. Play England (2014) As far back as 1826 Froebel saw the value
of play in the opportunities it provides for sensory experiences, which he believed, are the foundations

Principle 4: Forest School offers learners the opportunity to take supported risks appropriate to the
environment and to themselves. Thinking back to our own childhood the vast majority of the Course A
May 2014 Forest School Leaders early play memories had a setting in the outdoors such as Rachel
Fleming Course A May 2014 the garden, woods, river, fields, beaches and sand dunes to name but a
few. They involved being free to choose your own activities and develop them as the individual or
group saw fit as well as to challenge themselves both physically and mentally. The adults were often
back home, you knew where they were if you needed them, however they did not stop you from
taking risks and challenging yourself. We remember taking part in tree climbing, grass blowing,
making dens, creating perfumes and potions, imagining cloud pictures and acting out small
world/imaginary scenarios e.g. fairy kingdom or War zones. These memories of our own childhood,
developing the skills and knowledge we are using as adults today, are fundamental to the research of
Sutton Smith (1997) cited in the work of Lester Maudsley (2007) who notes to children play is about
having fun , being outdoors and with friends, choosing, not working, pretending and fantasy etc.
Children have a right to play as stated in the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child Article 31: 1.

Letter To Chronicle Books
Dear Chronicle Books; Submissions Editor,
The law of attraction is a growing trend. Though many people read the books tailored towards this law
they fail to attract into their life what they desire. They have the knowledge to use this law yet they
don t practice it. Knowledge isn t a capacity of knowing but rather a capacity of doing. One of Seven
gives readers the practical tool to really use this law to their advantage to finally manifest their goals.
The main principles in this book are based on the similarities I noticed in books including The Seven
Spiritual Laws of Success by Deepak Chopra and The Secret by Rhonda Bryne, psychological studies
I examined while I was in University, and various documentaries including The Secret on Netflix.
These sources have a very powerful and effective message to empower people to transform their lives
yet millions of people don t follow through. With One of Seven anybody in the world can manifest the
lives they have always wanted by filling out their daily journal. Chronicle Books ... Show more

with an expected release date of January 2017. I m an entrepreneur living in Ontario, Canada. After
graduating with a B.A. in psychology and Physical Education from Redeemer University College I
started a wellness coaching company that I run online through my website,
www.gillianelizabethwellness.com. Shortly after this I branched out and started an organic clothing
company called Gorgeous Buddha. Using all of the knowledge I have gained thus far I noticed many
trends that set success apart from failure. I created this journal for myself and have been using it to
attract the successes I have achieved so far. I wanted to share these practices in a practical way with
others to achieve their goals. I can be contacted by email (gboult83@gmail.com), phone number (905

  • 2. How Does La Contessa Respond To Isolation The Sorrows of Unopposed Isolation Companionship is something all humans will encounter throughout their lifespan, whether it be genuine or false. A genuine companion is one who offers advice and support with positive and selfless intent. A bogus companion may offer advice and companionship, but seeks some sort of disguised self benefit or is ashamed of the relationship. In the Enlightenment novel, The Sorrows of Young Werther by Goethe and in the Baroque opera Le Nozze di Figaro by Mozart, a theme of isolation due to lack of companionship is prevalent. The main characters, Werther and La Contessa respectively, respond to isolation differently, resulting in a different outcome for the two. Ultimately, the character of La Contessa ended up better off than Werther because of how she responded to isolation. Based upon their response to isolation, I argue that when no genuine companion is present, it is better for a person to pursue or accept bogus companionship rather than no companionship, despite the circumstances that lead them to the isolated state. ... Questing for Connections to the Past Waldo Ralph Emerson said Though we travel the world over to find the beautiful, we must carry it with us or we find it not. In Bashō s Narrow Road through the Backcountry, exactly this sentiment is realized in the literary capture of North Japan s natural beauties on his journey for poetic enlightenment and motivation. This work is the story of the journey that Bashō began near the end of his life in order to attain inspiration for writing poetry, specifically in haiku type forms. This variety calls to the different inspirations which Bashō was seeking. Instead of maintaining a stagnant style, as many of the less travelled poets would have, Bashō s journey allows him to not only write about sights that he would have never otherwise experienced, but it also allows him to connect with other writing styles that he ordinarily may not have explored, causing a stark development of his own writing style. A common thread in all of Bashō s inspirational writers, as pointed out by Haruo Shirane in the essay Double Voices and Bashō s Haikai in Kerkham s Matsuo Bashō s Poetic Spaces: Exploring Haikai Intersections, is that all of these writers are considered to be reclusive poets. This, however, is just one of several ways Mrs. Compson contributes to the dysfunction of her family. Ulrike Nussler explores this in her essay The Function of Mrs. Compson in Faulkner s The Sound and the Fury. Nussler accurately describes her as a woman who unwittingly contributes to the decline of the Compson family (581). Much of this is due to her fixation with old codes of behavior and traditional Southern values, especially with regards to the strict morality she imposes on her daughter Caddy which partially contributes to Caddy s promiscuity, something that proves to be destructive and a source of conflict for both individuals and the whole Compson family. Nussler correctly states that Mrs. Compson remains inflexible and self centered while exercising a power that proves to be destructive to the family unit (581). This gets at the two main aspects of why Mrs. Compson s influence on the destruction of the family can t be underestimated. One, Mrs. Compson is self centered, removed, stubborn, and apathetic about her children outside of Jason. This is always going to be problematic for the family, regardless of whether the person who has these traits is a mother, father, son, or daughter. All offers to buy or sell the firm s shares at a specific price (limit orders) are recorded by the specialist in the order book. An incoming order to buy or sell the stock at the current price is executed either in a transaction with a floor trader, against and existing limit order, or against the specialist s ask or bid quotes. Such an order is either filled at the best available quote the lowest ask price in the case of a buy order and the highest bid price in the case of a sell order or at a price inside the quotes. The specialist participates only in a small portion of the NYSE transactions, whereas on NASDAQ a dealer has traditionally been on one side or the other of essentially every transaction and is on both sides of all inter dealer transactions. From 1998 to 2001 specialists participated in approximately 25 30 percent of all transactions on the NYSE about equally divided between the buy side and the sell side. Specialist participation in transactions varies from stock to stock, and is inversely related to a stock s trading volume (Madhavan and Sofianos, 1998). African Americans fought for equality for many years but did not see any results. Even though slavery ended, there was still segregation in public facilities and prejudice in the society. There was a drastic change in the movement when the Supreme Court shut down segregation in schools. African Americans were influenced by both Rosa Parks and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr, who ends up becoming their leader. From the 1950s to 1960s, people saw a remarkable change in the movement through nonviolent protests, the Supreme Court decision, Parks and Dr. King s influences. During the early 1950s, blacks started questioning the segregated school systems. Thurgood Marshall fought a case with the support of an organization called National Association for the Advancement of Colored People or NAACP. Marshall was a lawyer, who fought against the segregation in law schools as well as other graduate programs. Later, the graduate schools are desegregated. Another case known as Brown v. • 25. On Liberty Speech Analysis This essay will explain Mill s view regarding freedom of expression and apply it to a modern concern regarding hate speech. In On Liberty, Mill argues in favor of nearly unrestricted freedom of expression in accordance with the harm principle because limiting the opinions of others hinders the marketplace of ideas or clashing of views to allow for the truth to rise to the top through refinement or exchanging false beliefs for truths. Mill explicitly states that silencing speech is an evil that robs the human race, posterity as well as the existing generation.... It robs those who disagree with these silenced opinions. Mill s view is utilitarian because minimizing speech is socially advantageous because it allows people to learn from the choices, actions, and experiences of others. Additionally, this view is utilitarian because limiting speech would lead to even worse harm than simply tolerating hateful or harmful speech. The main arguments that Mill presents in favor of his view in favor of almost complete freedom of expression. First, allowing government censorship allows for the government to act with infallibility to what is right or true. To refuse hearing opposing opinions because the government is sure the belief to be false is to assume that their certainty is absolute certainty. Instead, allowing for near unlimited freedom of expression allows for the consideration of thoughts. This allows us as citizens to evaluate and critique other government and our own governments that have been wrong in the past. By allowing for the presentation of contrary views, we as humans can be aware of past mistakes and come to know the truth. For example, allowing for Galileo arguing that the Earth revolves around the Sun allowed for correcting the false belief that the Earth is at the center of the universe. While this allowance can lead to risky behaviors, prejudices or other harms, Mill hold that regardless, it is worth these risks and challenges because this can lead to finding truths or correcting truths. Second, Mill argues that allowing for falsehoods to be spoken, even if wholly false, can have some kernels of truth that lead to truths for that issue or truths of other issues. Suppressing speech can lead to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Seth went on to pursue a degree in Fine Arts at Rhode Island School of Design, and around age 24 he became an executive producer. In May of that year, four men left Southampton, England for Australia on the Mignonette, a private sailing yacht. These men were Captain Thomas Dudley (31), mate Edward Stephens (36), seaman Edmond Brooks (38), and cabin boy Richard Parker (17). While crossing the South Atlantic near the Cape of Good Hope in July, bad weather struck the yacht and it sunk. The men managed to escape into the lifeboat, and two one pound tins of turnips were the only food they subsisted on for four days. They caught a small turtle on the fourth day that lasted eight days, and were without food for another eight days after. The only fresh water they had was the rain that came from time to time. On the sixteenth day of drifting Richard Parker became ill from drinking seawater. On the eighteenth day Dudley and Stephens approached Brooks with the idea that they should sacrifice one person to save the rest. Brooks dissented, and they did not consult Parker as he was ill. On July 24th Dudley and Stephens reasoned with Brooks, saying that since they had families to take care of it was most logical to kill the boy and save themselves. They proposed that if there were no vessels in sight the next day they would kill Parker. As there were no vessels, Dudley killed Parker by slitting his throat; the boy was so ill he did not resist. This principle has served as the cornerstone of architecture in the United States and throughout the world since the first hut of the Mesopotamian civilization. As the centuries go by, this principle started to deviate. With a series of political debris left over from the World War II, the Cold War and the revitalizing economic policies of the Reagan Era, Canadian American architect Frank Gehry was able to shatter the established architectural norm of the modern era and pen an iconoclastic style called deconstructivism in the postmodern 1980s, leaving a resounding legacy in the architecture industry. The social and political debris remaining by the end of World War II and the Cold War stifled the possibility of a new architectural movement. The revolution of modernism, a form of architecture in which function dictated form, in the postwar decades turned into a routinized corporation that headed towards unpromising directions as it instigated the diminishment of architectural meaning and artistic expression. ... Minority concerns have been on the itinerary of the United Nations for more than half a century. In 1948, the General Assembly asserted that the United Nations could not remain detached to the providence of minorities. That explicates why the 2005 World Summit Outcome reaffirmed the rights of minorities and advocacy to the efforts of the United Nations (Zanden and James 153). Does discrimination on minority groups have a basis in our daily lives? It is from that rationale that this paper will endeavor at elucidating on the motives why I think discrimination on minority groups has no grounds in our society. By venturing into various forms of prejudice, such as racial differences, gay, lesbians, transgender, and the disabled people, we will be able to understand the role these groups of people play in our society. Racial prejudice is a stealth moral and a social cancer influencing individuals and populations globally, especially racial minorities. It can be detected by the indexing of its many symptoms and visitations that comprise trepidation, parochialism, alienation, segregation, prejudice, and loathing. The Principles of Leadership, Group Dynamics and Team Building In this paper, I will discuss many theories and the impact they have on leadership, group dynamics and team building, and how those principles have affected me in my career and how I will apply these principles in the future. Vision Manning and Curtis define leadership as social influence that results in change. It is initiating action that results in change. (Manning G., p. 1) Dynamic leadership is the driver behind performance and results. Leaders need to create a clearly define vision, and communicate it in such a way as to earn buy in from others. Clarity of objectives will drive the right action, which will insure deliverables and goals are achieved. (Gill, 2015) The principle behind vison is that everyone is aware of the desired goal and vision, and can then efficiently work toward accomplishing that goal. A leaders ability to communicate the vision and achieve a common goal and focus dramatically affects the effectiveness of their team and the success or demise of the business. I have found that leaders who fail to motivate, or lack self confidence to be weak and ineffective.
