Hawaii Creole English By Hawaii Pidgin
Hawaii creole english, or in other words pidgin, is based on the english language, but also
containing words from many other languages. Some of those languages include Hawaiian,
Japanese, Portuguese, and more. Hawaii pidgin english is widely used in everyday conversations,
television shows, and advertisements. Hawaiicreole english was created many years ago, but is
used by a large number of people on the Hawaiian islands, as well as on the mainland. Hawai i
creole english was first established around the 1800 s, when Hawaii started recruiting laborers
from all over the globe to work on the sugar plantations. The laborers consisted of people from
China, Portugal, Japan, Korea, Puerto Rico, Russia, Spain, the Philippines, and other countries
(Hargrove, Sakota, and Siegel 1). Since there were such a diverse group of people, they all spoke
different languages. Which made it hard for them to communicate. Thus, Hawai i creole english
was soon developed and became the primary source of communication among all the different
ethnic groups (Thompson 1). During the plantations, the children born during that time period were
starting to attend school. That is when many of them first came into contact with standard english,
since majority of them already spoke hawaii pidgin(Scanlan 1). Ever since the plantations, more
than half of Hawaiis population today speak pidgin. Majority of the Hawaii pidgin comes from the
english language, but are also contained from other languages.

What Does Man s Search For Meaning Mean
Viktor Frankl s Man s Search for Meaning is an incredibly influential novel. Frankl s novel has
inspired so many people and has positively affected many by showing them that something
unwanted could have a good effect in the long run. Viktor Frankl wrote this book nine days after
he was released from Auschwitz, a Nazi Death Camp located in Poland, in 1945. While the novel
is heartbreaking, it is very moving and definitely still worth the read. Because Frankl was a
psychiatrist, he analyzed his awful situation through a scientific lens and also explained
psychological reactions of inmates and, ultimately, theorized the meaning of life. Man s Search For
Meaning is so significant because of its historical importance, strong emotion, and identification of
life s purpose and it could be described as one of the most important popular books of the 20th
century (Meinertsen). Man s Search for Meaning starts out with Frankl describing his journey to an
unknown location. When he and the other prisoners find out they have been transported to
Auschwitz, everyone s heart misses a beat. This kind... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Before he says what life s meaning is, he explains the steps that are needed to gain this
knowledge. Firstly, attitude is a huge part of Frankl s theory. To Frankl, being a prisoner was an
unavoidable hardship and the only way for him to survive was to accept his life for what it had
become. His perspective allowed him to outlive other prisoners and live to get rescued. The
prisoners who lost hope were not as fortunate as Frankl. At Frankl s lowest points, he thought about
his accomplishments, dreams, and his wife. He discovered that the meaning of his suffering was
for the greater good of mankind. While sections of the story and touching, they can also be very
heartbreaking and make an argument as a weakness in the novel. Some may not want to endure the
sadness that this novel

Analysis Of Rock And Metal Music
Groups of individuals continue being misunderstood by society leading to exaggerated
misconceptions of what is true about them. Emos are one of the many groups who are strictly
misunderstood because of their appearance and personal preferences. They are usually portrayed
as being in their teens, having long black hair, and wearing skinny jeans with a shirt of their
favorite bands. While the description does apply to them, it does not always mean that every
person dressed like that is considered an Emo. The simple meaning of a person who is classified
as an Emo is that they are very emotional towards situations, the cause usually being a horrific past
experience. Rock and metal music is the preferred music genre of the group which... Show more

Whether or not a person listens to emo music, writes emo poetry, or adopts an alternative
lifestyle is a personal decision that does not automatically have anything to do with the colour or
cut of their hair ( Emo Scene Community Lifestyle Culture 2). What the author is trying to state
is that we should not be labeling an individual solely because they enjoy the fashion sense of a
group. Just because someone looks a specific way does not mean that it is okay to ridicule them
in a manner that makes them uncomfortable. It is okay for someone to dress or look how they
desire, but what is not okay is for them to be made fun of for what they like and enjoy.
When someone thinks of the word Emo, many different visuals appear in their mind. Most
people usually imagine a tall, slender, teenage male dressed in all black clothes with long, black
hair. In the article, What is emo? Why Emo? , the author describes them as, The fashion was
simple: black tight clothing with a dash of color thrown in their elbow length gloves or poetry
covered converse. There were the side bangs that produced what my friends in high school
called the Cyclops look because it covered one eye. And to follow up on the low self esteem, being
thin was an obsession. If you wore the clothes and appeared to weigh close to a hundred pounds,
you were Emo, otherwise you were a fat rocker

Caribbean Double Bass Guitar Analysis
The double bass, to a non musician, can just look like a giant guitar, but in reality it is less like a
guitar and more like a giant violin. The double bass is the biggest of the violin family but
emanates a lower pitch than most of the other family members. The solo Pirates Of The
Caribbean Double Bass Solo is an awesome example of how this instrument can tell a story just
with its notes. This melody is not an easy one to remember, it can be very complex since it has so
many different notes to achieve in such a close amount of time. The double bassis not a simple
instrument to play especially because of its low pitch and its volume. The tone of the instrument
does not let the musician play very high notes because this instrument is made with low range. I
can only hear one clear theme in this work and that is what makes it... Show more content on

But with time there are consonant harmonies in this work because the dissonance finally meets
stage where the notes fall back into a pleasant sound and no longer makes us humans tensioned.
The rhythm to this piece is very important because through the rhythm is where the artist
portrays the journey of the pirates and takes you to another world while listening to it, it takes
you to the actual movie! When I listen to this piece my emotions are adventurous. Listening to
this piece makes me want to be the pirate Jack and go find some gold and kill some sailors. The
whole piece itself I would describe it as a color blue, blue for its adventurousness and bravery. the
texture can be thin just because of the reason the double bass does not create a thick texture but
this does not take away from the piece. The piece is perfectly fine played with the double bass. In
fact, with any other instrument it wouldn t have captured the musicians true purpose of
adventurouness and bravery in the way it

While Stagecoach (John Ford, 1939) is representative of Classical Hollywood cinema providing its

b)Stagecoach was the most critically acclaimed of several major studios 1939 Westerns that
historians credit with raising the genre into big budget production from the rut of B studio, B
movie status (Bernstein 300). Unlike the other classical Hollywood cinema, Ford chose western
frontier as the open landscape for shooting. What s more, Ford tried to cut dialogues to the
minimum and focused on actions, showing how actors react to one another. Certainly, as a
classical Hollywood film, Stagecoach reflects Ford s appreciation of America s westward
expansion by showing chances for democratic life on the frontier. With the aim of specification
contradictory beliefs, Ford made fully use of mise en scГЁne and cinematography, such as setting

The epic, mythicized, and vast landscape of Monument Valley offers the basis for Western s

The Senate Bill 149 ( Sb 149 )
The Senate Bill 149 (SB 149) signed by Greg Abbot is about relating to alternative methods for
satisfying certain public high school graduation requirements, including the use of individual
graduation committees. This bill gives students a better chance at graduating, although it may or
not be continued results of this bill will have to be processed first. I chose this bill because I
believed that it would be well known also, because it is important to school life which has taken a
big turn in recent years. Educationhas taken a decline in funding so I think this law may benefit
the sudden drop in funding or perhaps is something the government hopes to be used as an olive
branch due to withdrawal of funding. My first article details who the law effects, and what

law requires school districts and open enrollment charter schools to have IGCs for any eleventh or

Information and Technology Literacy Paper
In the modern day technology and information are developing, changing, and is exchanged at a
rapid pace. With so much information out there and a constantly evolving landscape of technology
it is important to know how to find, use and validate new information and technology.
Information literacy is a set of abilities that allow someone to understand when where there is a
need for information. (Information Literacy: Home. (n.d.)., 2015)This also includes the ability to
discover and asses the quality of the information that was found. In addition this information must

Technology literacy is an ability set of an individual to use technology is the ability of a person
working independently and with others to responsibly, appropriately and effectively use
technological tools to access, manage, evaluate, create and communicate information. (Definition of

The Level Of Competition And Their Business Strategy...
The five forces is a framework created to help analyze the level of competition and their business
strategy within an industry. An industry structure can drive competition and profitability. The
structure of the five forces differs by industry. In the pharmaceutical market, powerful rivalry
between dominant manufactures such as Johnson Johnson, Novartisand Pfizerand the bargain power
of hospital and pharmacies that places huge orders for pharmaceuticals are strong, while the threat
of substitutes, threat of entry and the power of the supplier are more gentle or benevolent.
Companies aware of the five forces help them understand the structure of its industry and establish a
position that allows them to be more profitable.
The Five Forces The five competitive forces that shape strategy are, (1) Threat of New Entrants,
(2) Threat of substitutes, (3) Bargaining Power of Suppliers (4) Bargaining Power of Buyers, and
(5) Rivalry among Competitors. Those considered rivalry have measurable factors that rank each
force as Low, Medium or High strength. The combined strength of the five forces determines how
appealing the industry is to possible threats. The five forces are briefly defined below.
Threat of New Entrants The easier it is for new companies to enter the industry, the fierce the
competition will be. There are certain factors than can reduce the threat of new entrants. Some
examples of these factors are:
Existing loyalty to mayor brands

The Relationship Between The Pre Plant Nitrate N And...
gure 1 shows the relationship between the pre plant nitrate N and relative yield of wheat. At the
Australian level, the CV90 of 47kg N/ha has a narrow CR90 of 43 51kg nitrate N/ha. However
when the data is presented in terms of states, Queensland, Victoria and South Australia, differences
between CV90 and CR90 are evident. The lowest CV90 is Queenslandwith 43kg nitrate N/ha,
followed by South Australiawith 55kg nitrate N/ha and the highest value is for Victoria at 62kg
nitrate N/ha. Corresponding to the CV90 values are the CR90 values with Queensland 39 48kg
nitrate N/ha, SA 50 61kg nitrate N/ha and Victoria 47 82kg nitrate N/ha. Whilst Queensland and
South Australia have similarly narrow CR90 values, Victoria s CR90 is wider. This indicates
many high yielding trials producing Ymax in excess of 4 or 5t/ha and a similar number of low
yielding trials, averaging 5t/ha. The r value for each relationship was as follows: 1 2t/ha, 0.36; 2 3t
/ha, 0.45; 3 4t/ha, 0.38; 4 5t/ha, 0.69 and 5t/ha, 0.63.
From Figure 3, increasing in crop rainfall has resulted in a trend of small increases in soil nitrate N
kg/ha demand for Queensland and South Australian data. Against the trend is the Queensland
250mm value which showed a decline in value to 36 nitrate N kg/ha from the previous 200 250mm
demand for 44 nitrate N kg/ha. In contrast, the South Australian wheat data has continued to use
higher soil nitrate N values, of 53 nitrate N kg/ha at 350mm, without any decline at

The Bad Luck Kennedys Essay
The Kennedy family, the quintessential all American family, filled with some of the country s best

famous John Franklin Kennedy. However, some of us have probably heard about the bad luck this
family seems to run into, from a botched lobotomy to that famous JFK assassination. The whole
entire family seems cursed, those ghastly curses ranging from Rosemary Kennedy s misdiagnosis
and rather unfortunate botched lobotomy, to John F. Kennedys assassination. It s sad to see a well

Nurse Ratched, known as Big Nurse is the head nurse in the asylum and her role is to keep order

referring to the therapy meeting as bunch of chickens at a peckin party uses an animal motif to
further emphasize the inhuman way Big Nurse retains control. The alliteration peckin party and
blood and bones (Kesey, 55) underscores the seriousness of the meeting. Harding is the chicken in

The peckin party is a way to keep order by singling out and humiliating the individual until they

that the meetings are Peckin Parties, Our dear Miss Ratched? Our sweet, smiling, tender angel
of mercy, Mother Ratched, a ball cutter? Why, friend, that s most unlikely (57). Miss Ratched s
job is to keep order in the ward at all costs. She does not act out of pure obligation to do her job
well, but enforces her authority even at the expense of the patient s progress. Miss Ratched s

Islamic Microfinance And Islamic Institutions
Millions of poor practicing Muslims around the world need access to Sharia (Islamic law)
compliant financial tools. According to CGAP 2013, there are around 255 Islamic microfinance
providers in the world (Figure 1 and 2). Studies conducted in Bangladesh, Sudan and Indonesia
show that Islamic microfinance is growing at much faster rate than conventional microfinance.
TechNavio forecasts the market to grow at a CAGR of 19.7 percent over the period 2013 2018.
There is a huge opportunity for the growth of Islamic Microfinance in Pakistanas well. This sector
is scattered and there is a need for concerted effort on part of the policymakers and financial
institutions to provide diversity in products/providers and sustainable Islamic financing models.
The government of Pakistan is keen on expanding the Islamic bankingsector and it makes sense to
focus on Islamic microfinance sector at the same time.
Introduction
Microfinance institutions (MFI) have seen tremendous growth globally over the last few decades.
Microfinance helps alleviate poverty and reduce income inequality by providing small loans to
economically disadvantaged strata of the society. MFIs help poor secure microloans, who are not
part of the formal economy, are not part of the banking system and have no collaterals against
which they can borrow. A problem with microloans is the high interest rate which can, instead of
reducing poverty, exacerbate the problem. The interest rates can be as high as 31% and are

Cultural History Of Tattoos
The cultural performance and ritual of tattooing evolved over time, but holds historical
significance for membership into a group of people, age bracket, or culture. Polynesians used
tattoos as a coming of age ceremony, and symbol of adulthood. Boys would be put away for weeks
at a time to transition from boyhood and to heal from the harsh procedure. As the practice moved
aboard ships, men tattooed one another shoddily, creating connection and camaraderie between one
another. As movement across seas spread tattooing, port cities began to sprout parlors as artistic
sailors settled down with this new line of work; this became the only form of Polynesian art widely
accepted and practiced in the West. P.T. Barnum accentuated the novelty of tattoos and employed
these visually interesting people to performer. Sanitation practices were never consistent until the
1960 s when Sailor Jerry aimed to create tattooing into an esteemed and respected art form. Realistic
Tattooopened as the first shop to create custom, appointment based tattoo art. The styles of art
varied widely across cultures. Oceanic cultures commonly covered their peoples from head to foot
in geometric designs, mostly consisting of black lines. Sailor tattoos began as small, thin, stick and
poke style tattoos. Prominent circus performers such as Captain Consentenus, The Greek Albanian
Tattooed Man and Nora Hildebrandt, The Tattooed Women were covered in tattoos, maintaining
oddity and division from common peoples. When Sam O Reilly created the tattoo machine, colors,
intricate and dynamic designs, and prominent sailor imagery became abundant. Sailors tattooed
themselves on hands and arms in the beginning, but moved the designs to more coverable areas
of the body when tattoos became associated with lower class and delinquency. Pin up girls, naked
ladies, and harsh imagery were common obscene tattoos amongst sailors, and became integral to
the American Traditional style, pioneered by Sailor Jerry. Between World War I and World War II,
sailors received tattoos in China and Japan. The style is apparent through the imagery of dragons,
geishas, and weaponry. Sailor Jerry diversified styles by converging Japanese aesthetic with

My Computer s Death After The World Wide Web
Once upon a time, my computer burned out and shut down before my very eyes, leaving me
without so much as a goodbye or any sense of closure. Instead, I sat on my computer chair
mystified and heartbroken. After all these years, why couldn t it have told me it wasn t feeling
the same? At first I denied the possibility of my computer being gone. It s tired. It needs to rest, I
would say to my parents, whom tried to assure me it was as gone and never rebooting. It was
only then that I started to accept my computer s death as my fault. I hadn t been listening to its
alerts for a Norton Security update and I was using it at all hours of the day without giving it a
moment s rest, resulting in its heinous fate. I never payed attention to my computer, because I
was too busy using it for the internet, my mind completely absorbed on the many dalliances of
the World Wide Web. To say my computer s ability to let me access media was impactful on my
life is an understatement....considering how much I mourned its passing. Truthfully, media
content allowed me comfort. Unlike other teenagers at the time, I was never attached to social
media hubs like Myspace or Facebook. In fact, I hardly ever used these platforms beyond playing
games. Although that could be explained away as a result of my own social anxieties at the time;
the fact of the matter was that I wasn t interested. In the beginning, namely freshmen and

Analysis Of White Tigers By Maxine Hong-Kingston
One of my first impressions of the story White Tigers by Maxine Hong Kingston is that the story
that she shares with the reader is what I believed to be a dream that she had. I thought that this
dream was inspired by the times her and her mother spoke their own language, talk story. Talking
story is a dialect that transcends our basic comprehension of communication. It is the hybrid of
our own language, and the power of storytelling fused upon one another. I thought that Kingston
told us this story because it was the best dream that she has ever imagined. This story was so
moving for her since she felt a deep connection with it. However, I assumed that this story was
just generic. I overlooked the familiarity that this story had. I envisioned that Hong Kingston was
telling us her own version of the tale of Fa Mu Lan. Thousands of years ago, The Ballad of Fa Mu
Lan, written by Tzu Yeh is about a woman, Fa Mu Lan. Mu Lan was extraordinary because she
took her father s place in battle when he was chosen to fight. Not only was she brave, and
thoughtful, she was the first ever woman to go to battle and live. Then I went back to White
Tigers, and saw that after the fantasy that she created was stated, she reflects back on her
childhood which was just merely depressing. After reading both the Ballad, and White Tigers, I
realized that she injected herself into this fantasy because she wanted to rebel as did Mu Lan.
Being femalefor Hong Kingston was a living nightmare,

The tune was hot and enthusiastic and shown dialogue without using any words. The ensemble

lyrics are being sung by Celine Dion. I found listening to this tune a rewarding experience, and it
turned out to be a wonderful start to the jazz concert in that it was not unfamiliar to the crowd.
Waltz for Debby got me question why someone would write this kind of old and whom Debby
was sounding tune for someone he or she loved. It s really difficult for me to advocate this song to
anybody, for I lacked the depth of the other tunes through the entire evening and believed it was
boring. Ancient Memories was a piece that is wonderful. The tune was enjoyment and I loved
listening to the changes over and over again, although the tune had lots of repetition. The Jazz
Ensemble concert at Tarleton was an enjoyable evening full of intellectually exciting encounters of
music and excellent music that I wouldn t have listened to if not for this duty. Diversification is an
important lesson to learn when seeing music because all music has roots from a different music
genre and understanding this makes you more diversified as somebody.

Soil Analysis Case
Question 1
Low CEC demonstrates that the soil would be a sandy Chromosol
Low pH (4.6), the optimum level between 4.8 and 7.8 (CaCl2). Low because of the white clover
Mg (%) is very high. It can lead to poor drainage which results in compaction and waterlogging
limiting growth
Ca (%) is deficient and low in the soil analysis
S (%) and K (%) are marginal but in soil analysis Sulfate S and K are low, therefore is
recommended to add fertiliser to rise nutrient to optimum levels
Recommended to use lime to rise pH and calcium levels and add gypsum to drive excess Mg off
exchange sites. High Ca lime is recommended.
It is not recommended to use dolomite as it is high in Mg

It is made worse in high pH and high phosphorus soils. Zinc will cause pale leaves because it plays
a part in the chlorophyll function, carbohydrates and starch production which will cause stunting
CEC is high because it is a black vertosol
Mo is slightly high. Mo acts to improve nutrient metabolism in plants so it makes other nutrients
like P more available, which can further reduce the Zn levels
To increase organic carbon as it is low, leaving stubble of previous seasons can increase organic
carbon over time but may increase disease and pest pressures
Recommended to add gypsum to increase S and decrease P which binds P up, although can
increase Ca content which is high, therefore may just need to add S fertiliser
Recommended to foliar apply Zn
Rotating with a legume crop, a leafy crop (eg groundnut) as these pastures has been found to be
especially responsive in high Ca soils and will help balance Zn and P

The Back Of The Future Trilogy Narrative And A Few...
Time travel narratives explore the idea of changing what has been solidified in time; whether
going backwards or forwards, they portray the consequences of the free will of change They also
portray an ideology of the time period it is created in and thus the vision of the future is created
with that in mind. With a rather pessimistic idea of time, there has been an incorporation of comedy
in order to make the events less consequential in their narratives. The Back to the Future trilogy
narrative and a few selected episodes of Futurama share time traveltraits that can explore the
consequences of changing both the past and future but uses comedy in order to alleviate the
morbid idea of time. They both explore the ideas of butterfly effects, alternate universes, causal
loops with scientific accuracy but allows comedy to rectify the absurdity of time travel and its
components. Where Back to the Future sees time travel as an idea that can go both backwards
and forwards, Futurama clearly states that backwards time travel is difficult to do and prove, but
forwards time travel is scientifically capable. In the confines of science fiction, time travel reveals
a side that allows alterations in choices; science fiction narratives are situational ideas that have
been solidified in its event, whereas time travel narratives allow for the exploration of preventing
events from ever happening.
The concept of time travel suffers from the idea of being stuck in a certain time period and

Implementation Of Light Fidelity ( Li Fi ) On 3rd Gen...
Abstract: This paper explains an idea for implementation of Light Fidelity (Li Fi) on 3rd Gen
Modular projects (such as Oil Gas, chemicals, petrochemicals, power plants and other processing
industries). In particular, it will show how the application of Li Fi on 3rd Gen Modular project
avoids all the instrument wiring systems and Wi Fi(Wireless Fidelity) based wireless instrument
problems and reduces the life cycle cost of instrumentation system. The implementation of optical
wireless instrument communication systems on 3rd Gen Modular projects will result in enhanced
wireless capacity to realize Industrial Internet of Things (I2oT) and contribute to the key
performance indicators for the 4th Gen. Modularization and beyond. The availability of Li Fi
communication system provides multiple benefits over wired and Wi Fi based wireless
instrumentation systems. The paper covers all the key areas of engineering, design and
construction/fabrication, deliverables requirement, while implementing Li Fi on modularization
projects to achieve the plants requirement in an optimized way.

Sexual Assault Among Women In the United States Essay
Sexual Assault Among Women In the United States
Sexual Assault described in technical terms is defined as any sort of sexual activity between two or
more people in which one of the people involved is involved against his or her will. (3) The
description of against his or her will extends to varying degrees of aggression, ranging from indirect
pressure to a direct physical attack. According to the Crime Victim Research and Treatment Center
1.3 adult women are sexually assaulted in the United States every minute. (1) Of these assaults 84%
of the attacks occur by someone the victim knows. The Senate Judiciary Committee the United

If a woman tries to repress her psychological response, does she develop a physical reaction? One
type of disorder that develops among many women who have experienced sexual assault is called
Post Traumatic Stress Disorder or PTSD. While the exact symptoms, and the length that PTSD lasts
varies, the disorder is found among many victims of sexual assault.
The symptoms of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder vary. They can include an increased level of
anxiety, which can result in difficulty sleeping, concentrating, and an exaggerated response to
noise. PTSD can affect a woman who has experienced sexual assault ability to remember past
events, in particular events associated with her assault. (2) PTSD can cause feelings of
detachment and numbness, as well as a desire to avoid anything that the victim might associate
with her assault. While doctors have been able to identify the symptoms in many victims of
sexual assault the exact cause of the disorder is still questioned. Is the disorder the body s
response to trauma? If so what relationship exists between the symptoms associated with PTSD
as trauma? A strong correlation has been found between sufferers of PTSD and poor health. (3)
PTSD can lead to depression and sickness. PTSD if not treated can also indirectly cause
accidents that can affect a victim s health. These accidents can be the result high levels of anxiety,
of a lack of ability to focus, and a lack of ability to respond.

Jade is a hopeless romantic. The story takes place in five shots; all shot at acted at the same
location but in different scenarios. The movie s preamble will be a flash forward.
First shot: Shot one takes place in an ambulance, which is moving swiftly towards the hospital.
The ambulance shot should take no longer than forty five seconds, and only has only one main
character. Jade is being driven to the hospital after slashing his wrist with a razor blade. Before
cutting his wrist, he had taken an overdose of heroin which started taking effect before he could kill
himself. He ruined the suicide attempt as the drug (heroin) had taken full control and he began
having a seizure. This story will be introduced by Jade s best friend who is in the ambulance with
two emergency responders who are taking her to the hospital. They are almost at the hospital, and
the sound of the siren is almost overwhelming. They have to shout to explain to Quito, the best
friend, that Jade wouldn t have made it if she had not found him. Inside the ambulance, it is noisy

Essay about Birth and Demise in The League of Nations
Birth and Demise in The League of Nations
They say time is a great teacher. How true. History has taught us that peace must be kept at all
costs. The tragic story of the League of Nations centers around the man who conceived it and
offered it to the world. The man who developed its charter and who died from exhaustion after his
own country, the United States, refused to ratify it in the senate . On November eleventh, 1918 an
armistice was declared in Europe. The President of the United States, Woodrow Wilson, saw this as
an opportunity to form an international organization of peace. The league was brought forth to
provide security against future wars. However, the league did not fulfill the hopes of it s founders,

The American President s speech was the force that leads to the signing of the Treaty of Versailles
on June 28, 1919. Conversely, after congress had voted, only three of Wilson s fourteen points
were accepted without compromise and six of the others were rejected altogether. The reason for
this uncertainty by the congress was because, the Fourteen Points were all couched in broad, rather
vague terms, well designed to serve their propaganda purpose, but hardly suited to the negotiations
of which in the sequel, they were to become the basis . Wilson wanted the League of Nations
because he believed that World Wars would continue to occur as long as each nation was
responsible for their own defense. Wilson wanted the nations of the world to stand together in the
League of Nations, and promise to defend the territory and freedom of any member attacked by
another nation. Wilson believed that in order to keep peace the League needed the authority to
impose economic sanctions against aggressor states but the League did not have any military forces
to back up these economic threats. He believed that even a powerful nation, knowing that it would
face combined opposition of all the powerful nations, would not go to war. In Europe, Wilson also
met some confrontation with the Fourteen points. The

This oneness with each other and with nature created strong communal bonds within Russia. In 988
Prince Vladimir of Kiev was baptized and he decreed that the Kievan land would adopt Eastern
Christianity.(Massie, 23) Although the Russianspeople changed religions they carried on their
core beliefs they went from viewing the Mother Earth as the source of life to venerating Mary as
the Virgin of Motherhood. The reason Vladimir decided to convert to Christianity was because of
the immense beauty his men saw when they visited the Cathedral of Hagia Sophia, This desire
for beauty was translated into beautiful Russian art and music. The Orthodox liturgy continually
inspired poetry, music and art, for, unlike the Catholic liturgy in the West, it was from the
beginning the possession of the whole Christian people, who worshiped together in their native
Slavic tongue. (Massie, 28) An example of this is the Icon of the Virgin of Vladimir from the
early 12th century, and icon that depicts Mary holding Jesus as a baby.(Massie 43) During the
Mongol invasion many Russians were killed or sold to slavery, the Mongols crippled many
Russian cities and the power of the Russian prince s authority changed to be more like the authority

Life Is So Good By George Dawson And Richard Glaubman
In the book Life is so Good, George Dawson and Richard Glaubman give a very rare
representation of life in the early 1900s. George Dawson, a poor and illiterate black man tells
life as it is through his experiences. These many life experiences are portrayed in new stories
told chapter by chapter intrigue the reader of the book. This paper will review Dawson s many
stories and his perspective on life at the time, as well as the way his views and mindset compares
to the philosophy of African Americans at this time. Starting out at the earliest memory of
George Dawson s life, this book travels with George on his incredible story of his life. George s
mindset was instilled at an early age through his grandmother, President Lincoln, he didn t free
us to be lazy and no good. He freed us to work hard and improve ourselves. (Chapter 2, Page 14).
This was his philosophy throughout the entire book. From the very beginning George was on a
mission to make sure that whatever he did he would always work extremely hard, even in the
hardest and worst of jobs. Not only was he a very hard working man, but he was also always
trying to be kind hearted and never was afraid to lend a hand to help someone if he could. He
was like this despite all of the racism and segregation that he had witnessed throughout his long
life. One of the most horrific events in his life was when at the age of 10 he witnessed his friend,

Essay about Wage Compression and Symbolic Egalitarianism
An organisations internal pay structure can affect the way employees perform to the business
strategy. Where a workers performance not only depends on the level of pay they receive (Solow,
1979, in Alexopoulos Cohen, 2003), but also takes into consideration their pay compared to
workers above and below them, those within the same occupational group, and the external labour
market (Akerlof and Yellen, 1990). Pfeffer (2005) argues that wage compression, which is the act of
reducing the size of the pay differences among employees, improves productivity. To gain
competitive advantage, organisations need to acknowledge not only hierarchical wage compression
(between management and employees) but also the differences between individuals at... Show more

There is also a range of returns employees can receive; the psychological relational returns (learning
opportunities, employment security), and total compensation returns which are transactional
(benefits such as work/life balance, allowances, as well as cash compensation and bonuses)
(Milkovich, Newman, Gerhart, 2011).
However, the validity of Pfeffers argument is contestable. Although compressing the pay structure
supports fairness and equality, there is also the problem of creating the opposite outcome. When
wage differentials are eliminated, it may not be perceived as fair and create a negative effect on
effort and motivation (Kraft, 1994). A Swedish study demonstrates this negative effect, whereby
the higher paid workers morale and effort subsided leading to lower outputs as they did not feel
valued for their skills (Hibbs and Locking, 2000, in Alexopoulos Cohen, 2003). Therefore, wage
differentials aid in distinguishing between workers abilities and responsibilities to organisational
performance (Beaumont Harris, 2003). Theorists have thus developed a counter argument, that it is
in fact wage dispersion that leads to increased effort and performance (Lallemand, Plasman, Rycx,
2004). Instead of emphasising co operation, Lazear and Rosen s (1981) tournament theory
highlights the need to differentiate pay, as larger variations are more motivating than smaller or
equal differences.

Female Stereotypes In The Media
Common female stereotypes found in the media have a powerful influence over how society
views women and how women view themselves. What is the media portrayal of women today and
how does this impact how young girls perceive themselves? With programs such as The Bachelor
and Flavor of Love showing a dozen women competing for the attention of one man, often using
their sexuality, magazine ads displaying a half naked femalebody to sell a fragrance or cosmetic
product, and television commercials highlighting a womans thigh and butt to sell sneakers, it may
be difficult for society not to be influenced by the overwhelming message to objectify women.
Negative Female Stereotypes
Female stereotypes in the media tend to undervalue women as a whole, and diminish them to
sexual objects and passive human beings. According to research done by Children Now, a
national organization trying to make children a public priority, 38% of female characters found in
video games are wearing revealing clothing, 23% are showing cleavage. Magazine ads show a
dismembered female body, with parts, instead of the whole, a practice that according to media
activist, Jean Kilbourne, turns women into objects. Disney movies, from Beauty and The Beast to
Aladdin show slender, unrealistically curvaceous, and quite vulnerable young women, who are
dependent on male figures for strength and survival, not their own sense of empowerment. Media
stereotyping of women as objects and helpless beings creates very low

Non diegetic sound is also used fittingly in The Tall Man. In interviews, often there is subtle

Prior to completing this lab I believed the nail would be more dense than the stopper. After
performing the experiment, the iron nail contains more particles by volume than the rubber stopper
does.
Part IV
10. The accepted value for the density of aluminum is 2.699 g/cm3. Using this density and the
masses of your two samples of aluminum foil, calculate the volume of aluminum in each sample:
the regular vs. the heavy duty. (Note: You will have to use a bit of algebra and the formula D = m
/v for this calculation!) You must show all your work. (15 pts)
Regular Aluminum Foil:
2.699 g/cm3=0.67g/volume
2.699 g/cm3 x 0.67g= volume

Heavy Duty Aluminum Foil:
2.699 g/cm3=0.97g/volume
2.699g/cm3 x 0.97g=volume
Volume= 2.62 cm3
11. Using the volume(s) you just calculated for regular vs. heavy duty samples as well as your
dimensional measurements (length and width in cm) from Part IV of this experiment, calculate
the height, or thickness, of each sample of aluminum using the formula V = l x w x h. In the
formula, V stands for volume, l for length, w for width, and h for height. Once again, you will

Net Neutrality Is The Principle Of Internet Service Providers
Net neutrality is the principle that Internet service providers should enable access to all content and
applications regardless of the source, and without favoring or blocking certain products or
webpages. Net neutrality is like the Equal Protection Clause (5th Amendment) in that it is the idea
that Internetservice providers (ISPs) and governments should treat all site data equally. In other
words, no one should be throttling speeds or blocking certain sites outright because of their
content, author or country of origin. The alternative is called a closed internet where companies
are allowed to restrict access to services and sites by exerting control over the broadband...the pipe
through which we get access to the Internet (Podhoretz 2010). Generally in a capitalist society,
competition is seen as a positive motivator because it creates an efficient marketplace. However,
this system breaks down when supply is artificially limited. Consumers expect to pay more for
better products, whether it is a high definition cameras or a custom pair of boots. The US market is
based on the theory that competition stimulates the economy and generates the best products. The
cable/internet market is unusual in this regard because there is very little competition between ISPs
(Podhoretz 2010). The main reason for this is because market is saturated and the entry fees are
incredibly high (Brodkin 2014). The companies that have footholds in this market have invested
large sums in

The General Behavior Model Is Developed By Ludwig Brenner...
GEBMO or the General Behavior Model was developed by Ludwig Brenner as a way to predict
hazards before they happened. Brenner devised a system of scenarios that could occur with
multiple factors for each element. The system is basically designed on a cause effect relationship.
One thing happens because of another which leads to a result (Haight, 2012). This model was used
to develop an emergency action plan for a small community surrounding a gas station.
The first step to any emergency action plan is to conduct a hazard assessment and the best way
conduct to do that is to conduct a walk through of the facility or area (Haight, 2012). In this
scenario, our facility is a service station with fuel holding tanks and convenience store items
which is located in close proximity to the center of town, a housing development, an elementary
school, playground, baseball field, and wooded area. The nature of the business makes it a hazard,
the location of it makes it a hazard to the community. Using the General Behavior Model, possible
hazards and their reactions, as well as ways to prevent them are discussed.
When working with fuels such as gasoline and diesel, physical hazards to humans are possible.
Gasoline is highly explosive and flammable, while diesel is flammable. The use of GEBMO is to
prevent or reduce the number of fires and explosions. GEBMO is broken down into seven steps.
The first step is to predict a stressing event such as a fire when a tanker is

Summary: This article focuses on the positions of both the National Council of Teachers of
Mathematics (NCTM) and the National Association for the Education of Young Children
(NAEYC) stating that having high quality, challenging and accessible math education is essential
for 3 6 years olds, creating a promising future for students. Within their daily classroom setting,
there needs to be a research based curriculum that includes policies, organized support and
appropriate resources.
Essential Questions:
Should teachers start incorporating math into all other subjects? Or should math be a stand alone
subject?
Yes should be incorporated into all subjects. Of the 10 things key professionals should incorporate
into high quality math education, number 7 is prominent. It states, integrate mathematics with other
actives and other actives with mathematics (Boyd 2008). When children at the early elementary
level are processing knowledge they don t have each subject sectioned off. When a teacher is
teaching a lesson on math, a child doesn t process that as we are doing math. There brains aren t
quite developed as a cubbybox , Therefore, if a teacher is incorporating math into all their lessons,
there are many applicable ways students can use math without even knowing. For example, when a
teacher assigns a project or investigation, students must use math to collect date, record information
and any mathematical question.
Should parents be encouraged to teach their children some

Introvertive Mysticism Katz
The debate in the academic study of mysticism between Steven Katz and Robert Forman consists
of Katz s argument that, There are NO pure (i.e. unmediated) mystical experiences (Katz, 26).
Further, Katz affirms that mystical experiences are difficult to interpret and are impossible to
verify. Comparatively, Robert Forman argues for the existence of what he refers to as Pure
Consciousness Events (PCEs) whereby mystical experiences extend beyond language and culture.
Katz contends that the major problem of the study of mysticism is the problem of whether or not
mystical experiences can be verified when experienced by a person. In like manner, Katz states that
accounts of mystical experiences are unreliable because they commonly relate to the... Show more

Forman defines Pure Consciousness Events as wakeful though contentless (nonintentional)
consciousness (Forman, 8). He expands by stating, This is a form of what W.T Stace called
introvertive mysticism, which he distinguished from extrovertive mysticism. In extrovertive
mysticism one perceives a new relationship one of unity, blessedness, reality, or what have you
between the external world and the self. In introvertive mysticism there is no awareness of the
external world per se; the experience is of the self itself (Forman, 8). Moreover, Forman explains,
Introvertive mysticism denotes a transient state; (after all, no one who eats and sleeps can remain
entranced forever), whereas extrovertive mysticism denotes a more permanent state, one that lasts
even while one is engaged in activity (Forman, 8). If Forman is right and Pure Consciousness
Events are real, then that assumes that anyone can achieve a mystical experience without having a
religious or spiritual affiliation. Katz affirms that one must have a spiritual or religious connection
or affiliation in order to have a mystical experience and they will only have an experience that
results from the persons mental perceptions about the world around them. Forman responds to this
by stating, Katz does not specific just which concepts enter into just which

Why Factory Farms Are Cruel
Factory farms are cruel to animals and therefor people should not consume factory farmed
poultry or eggs from the poultry. Chickens in factory farms will never experience anything a
natural and normal life, they will never be able to perch, take dust baths, or even meet their
mothers. ( Chickens Used for Food. ) Even though chickens are just as intelligent as dogs they
are put into stressful and harmful conditions in these farms for their whole lives. Being put into
a confined space causes a chicken and other poultry lots of stress which can lead to violence
amongst the birds. ( Farm Animals. ) Because of this violence the birds have their beaks
trimmed which can lead to chronic pain and reduced feed intake. ( Current Developments in
Beak Trimming. ) The problem of beak trimming and violence in poultry could be solved if they
could experience a normal life and have a large amount of space to live in. Not only do poultry face

Factory farms make a large profit because labor and feed are both cheap. The feed though is
cheap because it is produced in very large quantities causing deforestation in Brazil. ( Good ) The
large production of feed also means lots of fertilizers and pesticides are used, Synthetic fertilizer
used to grow feed for factory farms accounts for 68% of all nitrous oxide. ( Air Quality. ) Another
advantage of factory farms is that they create 700,000 jobs in the United States, However the
workers are putting their health at risk. ( Factory Farm Workers. ) Studies showed that 25% of
workers have contracted chronic bronchitis and 70% of workers have contracted acute bronchitis,
in rare cases these conditions have caused death to the workers. While factory farms do have some
advantages they come with lots of disadvantages like animal cruelty, pollution, and injuries to

Bilbo s development might allegorically represent the heroism of England in World War I or the
inner, latent heroism common to everyone. His main motivation for writing was story telling
(sparknotes.com). The different races in the Hobbit were meant to represent different European
nationality s (sparknotes.com). Family lineage is another important factor that shapes identity
in the hobbit (sparknotes.com). Throughout middle earth, ones prospects, character and social
position are linked closely to family heritage (sparknotes.com). A major source of inspiration is
the plot was the body of ancient epic literature. Bilbo himself, with his common sense, love of

people, and things that Bilbo encountered. Tolkien started creating the Hobbit around the middle
of 1930. He was grading a paper as a professor. In the early 1930s he quickly drew the Hobbit into
the world of his evolving Silmarillon mythology. The story went underwent radical expansion and
revision. The reality of his story is an obvious starting point for an understanding not only why
tales were created but who created the tales (Gale). Tolkien makes his stories with the little world

new ideas and concepts. He also came upon new influences in myth magic (middle earth.org). the
hobbit represents Tolkien s only uses of high medieval culture in what eventually became the
fictional middle earth of the hobbit (middle earth.org). Tolkien wrote the Hobbit as much to satisfy

Canterbury Tales Relationships
Relationships in The Canterbury Tales The Church during the Middle Ages was responsible for
generating a great deal of the anti feminist theology, which perpetuated the subjugation of women.
The Medieval Church taught that women were inferior to men and that they should be compliant
and obedient to their fathers and husbands. The Canterbury Talesgive insight into the society of the
time including social structure, relationships among different genders and classes, and the cultural
rules and limits. By depicting the disproportionate relationship between men and women during the
fourteenth century, Chaucer confirms his beliefs of misogyny and the portrayal of women as
passive objects.

Analysis Of The Next Exhibit Planned For The Museum
In accordance with the board meeting s decision, the next exhibit planned for the museum will be
focused around the struggles faced by civilians on the southern home front during the American
Civil War. Although controversial due to recent events surrounding Confederate symbolism in
America, the focus of the exhibit will be unique and powerful in its depiction of the conflicts
surrounding daily life. When speaking of war, the common man is pushed to the side in favor of
the glory of battle and the stories of the citizens are left unsaid. With the Union victory over the
Confederacy, the experiences of those living within the South were devalued in comparison to their
northern counterparts. Many museums and articles exist that explore life in the North, but only a
handful have been done for those of the Confederacy. The exhibit s goal will be to showcase these
untold experiences through the objects left behind by those who lived under the northern siege.
Five objects were chosen as the centerpiece of the exhibit and to demonstrate four main hardships
that southern civilians lived through. A photograph of the ruins of Richmond, Virginia and a sketch
of the bombardment of Petersburg, Virginia speak of how the threat of death was a constant
companion for those living in the South. The serious shortages of commodities along with the
rampant inflation plaguing the Southern economy are illustrated by an almanac printed during the
siege of Vicksburg, Mississippi and a sketch done by

My Career As A Nurse
This world offers so many career opportunities, from being an elementary teacher to a yoga
instructor to a cardiologist. The job variety is endless, and anyone has the potential at becoming a
professional in the career of their dreams. I ve always known I wanted to go college, and now I
know I want to become a nurse anesthetist. Since I was little, I haven t always dreamed of
becoming a nurse anesthetist. When I was younger if someone would ask me what I wanted to be
when I got older, I would say I wanted to be a singer, a teacher, or a chef, and that answer would
change on a regular basis. Even recently now I ve changed my future career from being a physical
therapist to a psychiatrist to a registered nurse. A registered nurse spends an average day in the
hospital assisting and managing patients with medicine, documenting information, and
communicating with supervisors, peers, and subordinates. A registered nurse that specializes in
anesthesia, which is a nurse anesthetist, will always be doing specific tasks such as:
administering anesthesia to patients before and during surgery and they care for and monitor
patients before, during, and after surgery. I would love to become a nurse anesthetist, because I
want to be able to help care for others and I want to be in an environment where I am helping
patients recover and helping with pain. After doing research and asking many questions, I ve
become dead set on becoming a nurse anesthetist. In the medical field, a

The Senior Year Identity Crisis Summary
The article The Senior Year Identity Crisis by Julia Schemmer demonstrates a central idea
throughout the text. This article is about Julia Schemmer experience s throughout high school and
the way she reflected on her long journey. The central idea of this article is that people s
expectations can impact a person s identity. Julia demonstrates this central idea by talking about
her experiences and the way she was effected. For example, according to the article The Senior
Year Identity Crisis it states I walk with my head held high and my heart in the sky, successfully

gave to someone in need. This quote demonstrates how Julia Schemmer realized how ever since

It is easy to look into the eyes of a motion picture and dissect it for its form, style, underlying
meanings, and other characteristics that separate it from a film and a classic. There are concrete
elements that can be found in all classics that make it such a powerful and remarkable work. One of
these elements is undoubtedly the concept of the auteur theory. The Auteur theory is described as a
filmmaker, usually a director, who exercises creative control over his or her works and has a

Biological Theories Of Criminal Behavior
Biological Theories of Criminal Behavior Many biological theories of crime have been developed
to explain the analysis of crime and criminality. Scientific studies of research have formed theories
as to what makes a criminal a criminal and what social factors can contribute to criminality. As a
result, criminologyscientists Cesare Lombroso, William Sheldon, and Sandberg believe that the
presence of certain physical traits made it more likely that an individual would become a criminal.
The three scientist each share significant theories of criminal characteristics, criminal personality
and criminal behavioral tendencies. Criminologist Cesare Lombroso studied scientifically the born
criminal Atavism theory, which he believed modern criminals share physical characteristics with
primitive humans, Sheldon studied the somatotype theory, the three body types relating to an
individual personality and Franz Gall discovered and studied the phrenology theory, bumps on the
head could indicate certain criminal tendencies. Each theorist philosophy of criminality conveys a
scientific hypothesis as to what biosocial elements of crimeestablishes an individual as a criminal.
In 1987, while conducting an autopsy of the brigand Villella, Lombroso experienced an unusual, but
interesting epiphany while examining the skull of criminal Villella Giuseppe. Cesare Lombroso
discovered an indention at the base of the skull that he perceived to be commonly shared only
amongst apes.

  • 2. Hawaii Creole English By Hawaii Pidgin Hawaii creole english, or in other words pidgin, is based on the english language, but also containing words from many other languages. Some of those languages include Hawaiian, Japanese, Portuguese, and more. Hawaii pidgin english is widely used in everyday conversations, television shows, and advertisements. Hawaiicreole english was created many years ago, but is used by a large number of people on the Hawaiian islands, as well as on the mainland. Hawai i creole english was first established around the 1800 s, when Hawaii started recruiting laborers from all over the globe to work on the sugar plantations. The laborers consisted of people from China, Portugal, Japan, Korea, Puerto Rico, Russia, Spain, the Philippines, and other countries (Hargrove, Sakota, and Siegel 1). Since there were such a diverse group of people, they all spoke different languages. Which made it hard for them to communicate. Thus, Hawai i creole english was soon developed and became the primary source of communication among all the different ethnic groups (Thompson 1). During the plantations, the children born during that time period were starting to attend school. That is when many of them first came into contact with standard english, since majority of them already spoke hawaii pidgin(Scanlan 1). Ever since the plantations, more than half of Hawaiis population today speak pidgin. Majority of the Hawaii pidgin comes from the english language, but are also contained from other languages. ... • 3. What Does Man s Search For Meaning Mean Viktor Frankl s Man s Search for Meaning is an incredibly influential novel. Frankl s novel has inspired so many people and has positively affected many by showing them that something unwanted could have a good effect in the long run. Viktor Frankl wrote this book nine days after he was released from Auschwitz, a Nazi Death Camp located in Poland, in 1945. While the novel is heartbreaking, it is very moving and definitely still worth the read. Because Frankl was a psychiatrist, he analyzed his awful situation through a scientific lens and also explained psychological reactions of inmates and, ultimately, theorized the meaning of life. Man s Search For Meaning is so significant because of its historical importance, strong emotion, and identification of life s purpose and it could be described as one of the most important popular books of the 20th century (Meinertsen). Man s Search for Meaning starts out with Frankl describing his journey to an unknown location. When he and the other prisoners find out they have been transported to Auschwitz, everyone s heart misses a beat. This kind... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Before he says what life s meaning is, he explains the steps that are needed to gain this knowledge. Firstly, attitude is a huge part of Frankl s theory. To Frankl, being a prisoner was an unavoidable hardship and the only way for him to survive was to accept his life for what it had become. His perspective allowed him to outlive other prisoners and live to get rescued. The prisoners who lost hope were not as fortunate as Frankl. At Frankl s lowest points, he thought about his accomplishments, dreams, and his wife. He discovered that the meaning of his suffering was for the greater good of mankind. While sections of the story and touching, they can also be very heartbreaking and make an argument as a weakness in the novel. Some may not want to endure the sadness that this novel ... • 4. Analysis Of Rock And Metal Music Groups of individuals continue being misunderstood by society leading to exaggerated misconceptions of what is true about them. Emos are one of the many groups who are strictly misunderstood because of their appearance and personal preferences. They are usually portrayed as being in their teens, having long black hair, and wearing skinny jeans with a shirt of their favorite bands. While the description does apply to them, it does not always mean that every person dressed like that is considered an Emo. The simple meaning of a person who is classified as an Emo is that they are very emotional towards situations, the cause usually being a horrific past experience. Rock and metal music is the preferred music genre of the group which... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Whether or not a person listens to emo music, writes emo poetry, or adopts an alternative lifestyle is a personal decision that does not automatically have anything to do with the colour or cut of their hair ( Emo Scene Community Lifestyle Culture 2). What the author is trying to state is that we should not be labeling an individual solely because they enjoy the fashion sense of a group. Just because someone looks a specific way does not mean that it is okay to ridicule them in a manner that makes them uncomfortable. It is okay for someone to dress or look how they desire, but what is not okay is for them to be made fun of for what they like and enjoy. When someone thinks of the word Emo, many different visuals appear in their mind. Most people usually imagine a tall, slender, teenage male dressed in all black clothes with long, black hair. In the article, What is emo? Why Emo? , the author describes them as, The fashion was simple: black tight clothing with a dash of color thrown in their elbow length gloves or poetry covered converse. There were the side bangs that produced what my friends in high school called the Cyclops look because it covered one eye. And to follow up on the low self esteem, being thin was an obsession. If you wore the clothes and appeared to weigh close to a hundred pounds, you were Emo, otherwise you were a fat rocker ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Caribbean Double Bass Guitar Analysis The double bass, to a non musician, can just look like a giant guitar, but in reality it is less like a guitar and more like a giant violin. The double bass is the biggest of the violin family but emanates a lower pitch than most of the other family members. The solo Pirates Of The Caribbean Double Bass Solo is an awesome example of how this instrument can tell a story just with its notes. This melody is not an easy one to remember, it can be very complex since it has so many different notes to achieve in such a close amount of time. The double bassis not a simple instrument to play especially because of its low pitch and its volume. The tone of the instrument does not let the musician play very high notes because this instrument is made with low range. I can only hear one clear theme in this work and that is what makes it... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... But with time there are consonant harmonies in this work because the dissonance finally meets stage where the notes fall back into a pleasant sound and no longer makes us humans tensioned. The rhythm to this piece is very important because through the rhythm is where the artist portrays the journey of the pirates and takes you to another world while listening to it, it takes you to the actual movie! When I listen to this piece my emotions are adventurous. Listening to this piece makes me want to be the pirate Jack and go find some gold and kill some sailors. The whole piece itself I would describe it as a color blue, blue for its adventurousness and bravery. the texture can be thin just because of the reason the double bass does not create a thick texture but this does not take away from the piece. The piece is perfectly fine played with the double bass. In fact, with any other instrument it wouldn t have captured the musicians true purpose of adventurouness and bravery in the way it ... Unlike the other classical Hollywood cinema, Ford chose western frontier as the open landscape for shooting. What s more, Ford tried to cut dialogues to the minimum and focused on actions, showing how actors react to one another. Certainly, as a classical Hollywood film, Stagecoach reflects Ford s appreciation of America s westward expansion by showing chances for democratic life on the frontier. The Senate Bill 149 ( Sb 149 ) The Senate Bill 149 (SB 149) signed by Greg Abbot is about relating to alternative methods for satisfying certain public high school graduation requirements, including the use of individual graduation committees. This bill gives students a better chance at graduating, although it may or not be continued results of this bill will have to be processed first. I chose this bill because I believed that it would be well known also, because it is important to school life which has taken a big turn in recent years. Educationhas taken a decline in funding so I think this law may benefit the sudden drop in funding or perhaps is something the government hopes to be used as an olive branch due to withdrawal of funding. My first article details who the law effects, and what requirements for Individual Graduation committees (IGC). IGCs need the principal, the teacher of the relevant course; the department chair or lead teacher supervising the teacher of the relevant course; and either the student s parent/guardian, or the student if the student is at least 18 years of age or is an emancipated minor (Seliger). Why Is Schindler s List Considered A Hero Course Project: Schindler s List Schindler s List by Steven Spielberg is a heroic epic historical film based on the life of Oskar Schindler, a businessman who staffs his factory with Jewish workers for pragmatic purposes. The SS begins exterminating Jews in the Krakow ghetto; Schindler decides to have his works be protected by keeping them working in a factory. Schindler realizes that in protecting so, he has saved the life s of hundreds of innocent lives. Although Schindler s list has won several awards, many critics oppose on how the director capture the events of the Holocaust. One of the opposition to Schindler s list was dramatic sentimentality the film had. The film was lengthening in developing the plot of the story by using dramatic sympathy scenes, which according to a critic was displease with. The film being capture in black and white did not nostalgia a historical moment. • 11. The Level Of Competition And Their Business Strategy... The five forces is a framework created to help analyze the level of competition and their business strategy within an industry. An industry structure can drive competition and profitability. The structure of the five forces differs by industry. In the pharmaceutical market, powerful rivalry between dominant manufactures such as Johnson Johnson, Novartisand Pfizerand the bargain power of hospital and pharmacies that places huge orders for pharmaceuticals are strong, while the threat of substitutes, threat of entry and the power of the supplier are more gentle or benevolent. Companies aware of the five forces help them understand the structure of its industry and establish a position that allows them to be more profitable. The Five Forces The five competitive forces that shape strategy are, (1) Threat of New Entrants, (2) Threat of substitutes, (3) Bargaining Power of Suppliers (4) Bargaining Power of Buyers, and (5) Rivalry among Competitors. Those considered rivalry have measurable factors that rank each force as Low, Medium or High strength. The combined strength of the five forces determines how appealing the industry is to possible threats. The five forces are briefly defined below. Threat of New Entrants The easier it is for new companies to enter the industry, the fierce the competition will be. There are certain factors than can reduce the threat of new entrants. • 12. The Relationship Between The Pre Plant Nitrate N And... gure 1 shows the relationship between the pre plant nitrate N and relative yield of wheat. At the Australian level, the CV90 of 47kg N/ha has a narrow CR90 of 43 51kg nitrate N/ha. However when the data is presented in terms of states, Queensland, Victoria and South Australia, differences between CV90 and CR90 are evident. The lowest CV90 is Queenslandwith 43kg nitrate N/ha, followed by South Australiawith 55kg nitrate N/ha and the highest value is for Victoria at 62kg nitrate N/ha. Corresponding to the CV90 values are the CR90 values with Queensland 39 48kg nitrate N/ha, SA 50 61kg nitrate N/ha and Victoria 47 82kg nitrate N/ha. Whilst Queensland and South Australia have similarly narrow CR90 values, Victoria s CR90 is wider. This indicates many high yielding trials producing Ymax in excess of 4 or 5t/ha and a similar number of low yielding trials, averaging 5t/ha. The r value for each relationship was as follows: 1 2t/ha, 0.36; 2 3t /ha, 0.45; 3 4t/ha, 0.38; 4 5t/ha, 0.69 and 5t/ha, 0.63. In the passage on page 55, the metaphor referring to the therapy meeting as bunch of chickens at a peckin party uses an animal motif to further emphasize the inhuman way Big Nurse retains control. Cultural History Of Tattoos The cultural performance and ritual of tattooing evolved over time, but holds historical significance for membership into a group of people, age bracket, or culture. Polynesians used tattoos as a coming of age ceremony, and symbol of adulthood. Boys would be put away for weeks at a time to transition from boyhood and to heal from the harsh procedure. As the practice moved aboard ships, men tattooed one another shoddily, creating connection and camaraderie between one another. As movement across seas spread tattooing, port cities began to sprout parlors as artistic sailors settled down with this new line of work; this became the only form of Polynesian art widely accepted and practiced in the West. P.T. Barnum accentuated the novelty of tattoos and employed these visually interesting people to performer. Sanitation practices were never consistent until the 1960 s when Sailor Jerry aimed to create tattooing into an esteemed and respected art form. Realistic Tattooopened as the first shop to create custom, appointment based tattoo art. The styles of art varied widely across cultures. Oceanic cultures commonly covered their peoples from head to foot in geometric designs, mostly consisting of black lines. Sailor tattoos began as small, thin, stick and poke style tattoos. Prominent circus performers such as Captain Consentenus, The Greek Albanian Tattooed Man and Nora Hildebrandt, The Tattooed Women were covered in tattoos, maintaining oddity and division from common peoples. When Sam O Reilly created the tattoo machine, colors, intricate and dynamic designs, and prominent sailor imagery became abundant. Sailors tattooed themselves on hands and arms in the beginning, but moved the designs to more coverable areas of the body when tattoos became associated with lower class and delinquency. Pin up girls, naked ladies, and harsh imagery were common obscene tattoos amongst sailors, and became integral to the American Traditional style, pioneered by Sailor Jerry. Between World War I and World War II, sailors received tattoos in China and Japan. The style is apparent through the imagery of dragons, geishas, and weaponry. At first I denied the possibility of my computer being gone. It s tired. It needs to rest, I would say to my parents, whom tried to assure me it was as gone and never rebooting. • 19. Analysis Of White Tigers By Maxine Hong-Kingston One of my first impressions of the story White Tigers by Maxine Hong Kingston is that the story that she shares with the reader is what I believed to be a dream that she had. I thought that this dream was inspired by the times her and her mother spoke their own language, talk story. Talking story is a dialect that transcends our basic comprehension of communication. It is the hybrid of our own language, and the power of storytelling fused upon one another. I thought that Kingston told us this story because it was the best dream that she has ever imagined. This story was so moving for her since she felt a deep connection with it. However, I assumed that this story was just generic. I overlooked the familiarity that this story had. I envisioned that Hong Kingston was telling us her own version of the tale of Fa Mu Lan. Thousands of years ago, The Ballad of Fa Mu Lan, written by Tzu Yeh is about a woman, Fa Mu Lan. Mu Lan was extraordinary because she took her father s place in battle when he was chosen to fight. Not only was she brave, and thoughtful, she was the first ever woman to go to battle and live. Then I went back to White Tigers, and saw that after the fantasy that she created was stated, she reflects back on her childhood which was just merely depressing. After reading both the Ballad, and White Tigers, I realized that she injected herself into this fantasy because she wanted to rebel as did Mu Lan. I found listening to this tune a rewarding experience, and it turned out to be a wonderful start to the jazz concert in that it was not unfamiliar to the crowd. Time travel narratives explore the idea of changing what has been solidified in time; whether going backwards or forwards, they portray the consequences of the free will of change They also portray an ideology of the time period it is created in and thus the vision of the future is created with that in mind. With a rather pessimistic idea of time, there has been an incorporation of comedy in order to make the events less consequential in their narratives. The Back to the Future trilogy narrative and a few selected episodes of Futurama share time traveltraits that can explore the consequences of changing both the past and future but uses comedy in order to alleviate the morbid idea of time. They both explore the ideas of butterfly effects, alternate universes, causal loops with scientific accuracy but allows comedy to rectify the absurdity of time travel and its components. Where Back to the Future sees time travel as an idea that can go both backwards and forwards, Futurama clearly states that backwards time travel is difficult to do and prove, but forwards time travel is scientifically capable. In the confines of science fiction, time travel reveals a side that allows alterations in choices; science fiction narratives are situational ideas that have been solidified in its event, whereas time travel narratives allow for the exploration of preventing events from ever happening. There is also a range of returns employees can receive; the psychological relational returns (learning opportunities, employment security), and total compensation returns which are transactional (benefits such as work/life balance, allowances, as well as cash compensation and bonuses) (Milkovich, Newman, Gerhart, 2011). However, the validity of Pfeffers argument is contestable. Although compressing the pay structure supports fairness and equality, there is also the problem of creating the opposite outcome. When wage differentials are eliminated, it may not be perceived as fair and create a negative effect on effort and motivation (Kraft, 1994). A Swedish study demonstrates this negative effect, whereby the higher paid workers morale and effort subsided leading to lower outputs as they did not feel valued for their skills (Hibbs and Locking, 2000, in Alexopoulos Cohen, 2003). Therefore, wage differentials aid in distinguishing between workers abilities and responsibilities to organisational performance (Beaumont Harris, 2003). Theorists have thus developed a counter argument, that it is in fact wage dispersion that leads to increased effort and performance (Lallemand, Plasman, Rycx, 2004). Instead of emphasising co operation, Lazear and Rosen s (1981) tournament theory highlights the need to differentiate pay, as larger variations are more motivating than smaller or equal differences. ... When the film is detailing more of the distressing components of this case, suspenseful and tense music is playing. One key scene where non diegetic sound is utilised, is when a picture of Doomadgee is focused slowly zoomed to and in the background the song, (San Francisco) Be Sure to Wear Some Flowers in Your Hair, is playing. Not only was it one of Doomadgee s favourite songs but the jovial melody forces viewers associate him with it. Effectively, emphasising that a good man wrongfully died. Despite, В¬The Tall Man giving tremendous insight Doomadgee s death, there is a pivotal scene which the underlying premise of the film is evident. • 36. Net Neutrality Is The Principle Of Internet Service Providers Net neutrality is the principle that Internet service providers should enable access to all content and applications regardless of the source, and without favoring or blocking certain products or webpages. Net neutrality is like the Equal Protection Clause (5th Amendment) in that it is the idea that Internetservice providers (ISPs) and governments should treat all site data equally. In other words, no one should be throttling speeds or blocking certain sites outright because of their content, author or country of origin. The alternative is called a closed internet where companies are allowed to restrict access to services and sites by exerting control over the broadband...the pipe through which we get access to the Internet (Podhoretz 2010). Generally in a capitalist society, competition is seen as a positive motivator because it creates an efficient marketplace. However, this system breaks down when supply is artificially limited. Consumers expect to pay more for better products, whether it is a high definition cameras or a custom pair of boots. The US market is based on the theory that competition stimulates the economy and generates the best products. The cable/internet market is unusual in this regard because there is very little competition between ISPs (Podhoretz 2010). The main reason for this is because market is saturated and the entry fees are incredibly high (Brodkin 2014). The companies that have footholds in this market have invested large sums in ... • 37. The General Behavior Model Is Developed By Ludwig Brenner... GEBMO or the General Behavior Model was developed by Ludwig Brenner as a way to predict hazards before they happened. Brenner devised a system of scenarios that could occur with multiple factors for each element. The system is basically designed on a cause effect relationship. One thing happens because of another which leads to a result (Haight, 2012). This model was used to develop an emergency action plan for a small community surrounding a gas station. The first step to any emergency action plan is to conduct a hazard assessment and the best way conduct to do that is to conduct a walk through of the facility or area (Haight, 2012). In this scenario, our facility is a service station with fuel holding tanks and convenience store items which is located in close proximity to the center of town, a housing development, an elementary school, playground, baseball field, and wooded area. The nature of the business makes it a hazard, the location of it makes it a hazard to the community. Using the General Behavior Model, possible hazards and their reactions, as well as ways to prevent them are discussed. When working with fuels such as gasoline and diesel, physical hazards to humans are possible. Gasoline is highly explosive and flammable, while diesel is flammable. The use of GEBMO is to prevent or reduce the number of fires and explosions. GEBMO is broken down into seven steps. The first step is to predict a stressing event such as a fire when a tanker is ... Within their daily classroom setting, there needs to be a research based curriculum that includes policies, organized support and appropriate resources. Essential Questions: Should teachers start incorporating math into all other subjects? Or should math be a stand alone subject? Yes should be incorporated into all subjects. Of the 10 things key professionals should incorporate into high quality math education, number 7 is prominent. It states, integrate mathematics with other actives and other actives with mathematics (Boyd 2008). When children at the early elementary level are processing knowledge they don t have each subject sectioned off. When a teacher is teaching a lesson on math, a child doesn t process that as we are doing math. Further, Katz affirms that mystical experiences are difficult to interpret and are impossible to verify. Comparatively, Robert Forman argues for the existence of what he refers to as Pure Consciousness Events (PCEs) whereby mystical experiences extend beyond language and culture. Katz contends that the major problem of the study of mysticism is the problem of whether or not mystical experiences can be verified when experienced by a person. Forman defines Pure Consciousness Events as wakeful though contentless (nonintentional) consciousness (Forman, 8). He expands by stating, This is a form of what W.T Stace called introvertive mysticism, which he distinguished from extrovertive mysticism. In extrovertive mysticism one perceives a new relationship one of unity, blessedness, reality, or what have you between the external world and the self. In introvertive mysticism there is no awareness of the external world per se; the experience is of the self itself (Forman, 8). Moreover, Forman explains, Introvertive mysticism denotes a transient state; (after all, no one who eats and sleeps can remain entranced forever), whereas extrovertive mysticism denotes a more permanent state, one that lasts even while one is engaged in activity (Forman, 8). If Forman is right and Pure Consciousness Events are real, then that assumes that anyone can achieve a mystical experience without having a religious or spiritual affiliation. Katz affirms that one must have a spiritual or religious connection or affiliation in order to have a mystical experience and they will only have an experience that results from the persons mental perceptions about the world around them.
