The Theories And Measurement Of Personality Characteristics
Personality does not have a specific meaning in a psychological term and there have been multitude
of definitions. What involves personality, is not just one thing; there are various factors that
contribute what is personality? Personality seems to be located upon a complicated interaction
between genetic, environmental factors, and with race, ethnicity, culture, age, as well as, gender. In
1937, Gordon Allport defined personality as the dynamic organisation within the individual of
those psychophysical systems that determine a unique adjustment to the environment (Maltby,
Day, and Macaskill, 2013, pp.18). However, in 1961, Allport defined it again, but this time as the
dynamic organisation inside the person of psychophysical systems that determine the person s
characteristics patterns of behaviour and thought (8 Theories and Measurement of Personality
Characteristics, 2014). His definitions are the most quoted. This essay will discuss the
advantages and disadvantages focused on personality and comparing it to the controversy of
situations in predicting behaviour by including some empirical research. Personality is a concept
used in our everyday lives, due to the judgements as a society we form, consciously or not about
others. The word personality is often used by people, referring it as a global implicit judgements
created by all the impressions and feelings made by an individual. When people react to certain
situations in a fairly consistent manner, this will

Gender Inequality And Ethnic Inequality
Introduction
To begin with, it might be necessary to define the terms of Gender inequality and ethnic inequality
in employment. While gender disadvantage refers to the prejudicial treatment of an individual or
group based solely on issues of gender (Robert, 2008); ethnic inequality indicates the unfair
distribution of opportunities and resources between the majority white and black and minority
ethnic groups in the labour market. The two issues have been rooted in the job market for long,
and despite recent progress of improvement, the issues remain and probably have evolved into
more covert and complex forms. In the following context, the two kinds of disadvantages will
firstly be introduced respectively, together with reasons behind the scene; yet, acknowledge the
relevance of gender differences to ethnic inequality, the explanations given for BME group s
predicament will be aware of the overlaps between gender and ethnicity issues; a brief conclusion
will also be provided in the final part, however, given the complexity of the picture, for example,
the extent to which women and men from different ethnic groups experience disadvantages varies
(Vittachi, 2011), it is hard to generalise and any predictions about future prospect may not be
realized.
The Position of Women in the Labour Market
Over the last 40 years, women have achieved great success in gaining their equalities in the
workplace, this view is particularly advocated by a stream of feminists called Liberal

Golf Course Engineering Research Paper
Passion project was an exciting, but difficult year long process. I had my doubts about my topic,
but in the end I am extremely happy I chose what I did. For my passion project, I decided to
research golf course architecture. It has been difficult at times but no matter the challenge I have
overcome it to get to this point. Golf coursearchitecture may seem like an easy job to take over, or
you may think that it doesn t take a lot of effort, and you d be completely wrong. The thoughts that
have to run through your mind while designing a golfcourse are endless. When designing a golf
course you have to think of scenarios as a player and think to yourself, How would I play this
hole? , or What would make this hole easier or more difficult? ... Show more content on

I believe my time management was extremely successful because I was able to adjust my
original plans to fit the time I had remaining. As stated previously, I had planned on designing 3
final products, a 3d model, a virtual 3d model, as well as a drawing. As the year progressed I had
to adapt to the fact that there was going to be no way that I would be able to finish all three of
those final products by the deadline. After I finished designing my first hole on my drawing, I
realized that this was going to have to be my main, if not my only, final product. I was able to
identify the issue with my plan, and modify it to fit the amount of time I had remaining, leaving
myself a good path to success. I believe I might ve been able to fit more than one of the final
products in, but I didn t want to be forced to rush, or be stressed because passion project is
supposed to be a positive experience. I am happy with the decision I made on this because I
think it allowed me to really give 100% effort towards my drawing, and draw it to the best of my
ability. Another decision I had to make as research for passion project was winding down, was
scheduling a new interview. Originally I had planned a face to face interview with the man

Igor Stravinsky s The Rite Of Spring
As I listened to Igor Stravinsky download 70, Stravinsky s musical piece differs from that of the
romantic era by the unadorned lines, raw energy, and elemental truth in which was incorporated
into his musical piece I listened to and analyzed The Rite of Spring. During this period modern
artists such as Igor Stravinskywere determined to turn the public away from Romantic idealism
and back to harsh reality, as stated. In this particular piece it was heard to have intensifying
metallic sounds which are not expected catching the listeners as well as the dancers of this
particular art off guard. Whereas, in the romantic era calm signifying sounds are incorporated in
each musical piece. In The Rite of SpringStravinsky takes the listeners as well

Communicative Event Genre Analysis
The second criteria that turns a class of communicative events into genre is some shared set of
communicative purpose and not similar forms or content. Swales (1990) discuss communicative
purpose as a starting point for defining genre. In the case of newspaper culture columns,
communicative purpose of each culture columns should be analyzed and then it will be determined
if they share a set of communicative purposes and further a class of communicative events or not.
The third criterion for a genre has to apply on the present features in all instances of a particular
genre. For instance every session of teaching English with English teacher might be regarded as
prototype teaching. Swales (1990) stated that whereas communicative purpose is the

Responses to Our Nig; or Sketches from the Life of a Free...
Our nig which is the name given to a free black slave, even though this name was given to a slave
that was free did not mean you were free. This story exposes how the racial dynamics of slavery
are replicated in the interracial encounters outside slavery. Our Nig was a story of a slave that fit
under this category of not being free when freedom existed. In this passage I will give my
critical analysis of my interpretation of Our Nig Frado who was abandoned by her mother and
left at the hands of the Belmont family were she was taken as an indentured servant, while being
in this house Frado experienced physical and verbal abuse while being in this household. Frado

I feel like Lois Leveen seems to make an excuse for the treat of Frado as this was a destined
situation for slaves that were free. She also feels like that Harriet Wilsons account does not hold
much weigh as a slave narrative because it was a subjected and submissive intake to be enslave,
In which I feel is rather ridiculous because this is an account of a little girl that was tormented
and physically beaten to the point that she was incapacitated from her treatment there to support
herself. In conclusion Harriet Wilson s novel to Our Nig; or Sketches from the Life of a Free
Black, in a Two Story White House, North, should be seen as a valid Slave narrative that is a
valid account of a slave that was not free, which suffered more then what we can imagine because
of a family that wanted someone to do work for them and to improve their class status. We can
point out in this novel that there was people who cared about Frado and wanted to remove her from
her situation but how do we know that she would have been in a different if not the same situation

The Selfishness Of Edna Priestley s The Vanities
The Selfishness of Edna Pontellier
Though some may see the actions taken by Edna as justified, I feel that she was in no way
justified in her actions. In the realm of the social situation in the story, she acted selfishly and
disregarded her duties as a mother and a wife. She threw away a perfectly fine life for no reasons
beyond her own selfishness, and abandoned her family. However, in terms of the romantic tones of
the story, she freed herself from her perceived bondage and lived the life she wanted to live.
This idea of freedom counteracts the view of Edna as a selfish individual and presents her in a
more positive light. In this view, the author presents Edna as strong minded woman who wants to
live the life that she feels she ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He struggled to compensate his wife with material affection in order to compensate for the lack of
emotional support. While this may not be a viable solution to the problem, it cannot be denied that
he was trying to combat the various problems they had between them. Even though it could be
understood that she would be upset by her husband lacks family skills, getting married was
completely Edna s fault. Their relationship has had a rocky history that is far from perfect. Chopin
states her marriage to LГ©once Pontellier was purely an accident... He fell in love...and pressed
his suit with an earnestness and an ardor which left nothing to be desired. He pleased her; his
absolute devotion flattered her (18). Edna was not fair to him when she married him without
loving him. She grew fond of her husband (18), but this fondness alone is not a good reason for
marriage. One could argue that Leonce was a domineering, controlling man who viewed Edna
as a part of his vast wealth. However, LГ©once simply did not know how to express his love and
concern for Edna, or his family, in any way other than with money. His life can be seen as
stressful due to his job as well as his endless worrying over his money; as such he has little
energy to care for his wife and children. He tries as hard as possible, but just lacks family and
communication skills. Just because he cannot express his love directly

Moss Physcomitrella Patens Lab Report
Introduction The moss Physcomitrella patens is an alluring model system for plant biology and
functional genome analysis. It shares numerous biological features with higher plants (vascular
plants) however it also has the exceptional advantage of an efficient homologous recombination
system for its nuclear DNA. This permits exact genetic manipulations and targeted knockouts to
study genefunction, an approach due to low frequency of targeted recombination events is not
routinely conceivable in any higher plants. (1) One of the reasons to study the biology of P. patens,
lies in the key position of mosses in plantevolution and the associated gain of specific features
connecting the aquatic and terrestrial mode of life. (5) Mosses are situated... Show more content on

Literary Warnings
Literary Warnings Throughout history, authors have utilized their works of literary art to
entertain and also to inform. Some texts have no merit as a form of instruction, but those
usually do not last the test to time. Of the literary works that have survived through the years, the
vast majority of them have a lesson to teach the reader which warns them against a certain set of
behaviors which may serve as a hindrance to them either in their life or in the afterlife.
Characters in works of literature can function either as ideal examples of how a person should
behave, or they can function as counterexamples wherein the reader is encouraged absolutely not
to emulate their behaviors. Each story provides a unique lesson and an expectation from the
author that the reader will understand what it is that they are trying to teach. This is certainly
true for the likes of authors such as the Beowulf author, Geoffrey Chaucer, and John Milton in
their most famous literary works. Beowulf tells the story of a warrior who goes to serve another
country and to fight their monster Grendel. In the epic poem Beowulf, the hero is one born to
wealth and raised to wealth. This position, rather than making him weak, has allowed Beowulf to
become respected in his community as a man of generosity and, because of his skills as a warrior,
immense courage. To this extent, the reader sees Beowulf engaging in acts of bravery and of
generosity towards his fellow men. In the prologue, in discussing

The Matrix contains metaphors to help strengthen the underlying themes. The machines, or agents,
as well as the members of the resistance wear sunglasses. Characters within the movie wear
sunglasses to hide their eyes, one of the most important factors in nonverbal communication (Coates

making them more machine like. When either human or machine removes the sunglasses, they are
showing their vulnerability, a new perspective, and their human like side. The sunglasses also show
the reflection of those looking at them. Prior to Neoentering the matrixor the real world for the first

came off the ride to find her stroller had vanished, along with her wallet and car keys that she left
in it. Collazo said: I was there with no money, stranded. My husband had to fly over from Miami
that same day, catch the first flight available to rescue me and my family. The woman s day at
the park was ruined, but she was determined to find out who the thief was. NBC4i reported

Righteousness In Genesis
Starting in the latter half of the fourth chapter of Genesis, the line of Cain is presented as being
wicked and displaying a lack of regard for God. The fifth chapter, however, offers a light in a
dark tunnel with the line of Seth. Amongst the line of Seth, men began to seek after God and call
upon His name (cf. Gen. 4:26). Enoch, for example, would come to characterize Seth s line and
contrast individuals like Lamech in Cain s line. Noah would also be a descendant of Seth and
would be allowed by Godto continue the human race despite the flood. However, the righteousness
contained within Seth s line would not persist for long. Picking up in the sixth chapter of Genesis,

The Golden Era Of Hip Hop Was A Period In The 80S And Early
The Golden Era of Hip Hop was a period in the 80s and early 90s characterized by its diversity,
innovation, and cultural influence. Hip Hop is considered to have been born in 1973, in South
Bronx, New York by Jamaican born Kool DJ Herc (Blanchard, B, 1999). He used a turntable
technique at a Halloween party, which eventually became extremely popular at every party scene.
The term breakdancing came to life shortly after. Rhymes over hip hop music, also known as rap,
began first as a commentary of the ability of the DJ. MCs introduced DJs and their songs. This
rhythmic music produced by DJs at parties combined with an increase of break dancers, graffiti
artists, and importance of MCs, created what we know today as the culture of hip hop.... Show more

Rap was called the black CNN by rapper Chuck D because they were reporting issues within the
inner city community through mainstream media. This idea of rap as the black CNN can be
seen from the descendance of rapper as griots. Griots were the keepers and purveyors of of
knowledge, which included tribal history, family lineage, news of birth and death, and war
(Blanchard, B, 1999). Rappers create songs that through performance and recordings, allows it to
spread worldwide about their lives, dreams, and discontents. They are the voice of poor, urban
African American youth whose lives are usually misrepresented or dismissed by mainstream media.
Rappers become the keepers of contemporary African American working class history and concerns.
Public Enemy s lyrics were dissected by critics in light of Chuck D s statement. Their song

Compare And Contrast Wuthering Heights And Frankenstein
1.Introduction
The following piece of writing will explore factors of a gothic novel. It will exclusively do so in
regards of the two novels Wuthering Heights and Frankenstein. These very famous novels will be
looked at in a very in depth piece of writing. Each novels main themes and their background will be
presented. The morality and the gothic novel with specific reference to Frankenstein and Wuthering
Heights will be assessed. The second aspect will be the social and cultural of the genre, the genre
being the gothic novel. Thirdly, the monster as punishment and the punishment of the monster in

Persuasive Essay Holidays
Thanksgiving is the holiday for family gatherings. Air travel analysts have coined it the most
traveled holiday of the year. People may head to the mountains or the beaches at christmas but
gathering at grandma s for that coveted feast of thanks is high on the family priority list. But not
all is as blissful as the famous Norman Rockwell portrayed. Familycan equal stress, lots of stress.
All that traveling makes for weary, cranky guests. Then there is the overcrowded accommodations,
unequal division of chores and the dreadful family gossip. So many aspects of this holidaycan leave
one overwhelmed and contemplating the true meaning of giving thanks.
Packing for the holidays away from home can be a chore within itself. Many things need to be
taken into consideration. One needs to be informed of the weather conditions to assure proper
attire. Many times there are also children and others in the family that need assistance with this.
Also you need to consider if you will be spending a lot of time outdoors. If your family plans a
black friday shopping trip you could find yourself in long lines out in the cold morning air. Perhaps
Grandma will be sending you out to fetch the christmas tree or assist in the delightful chore of
outdoor holiday house decorating. In any case, obviously a great deal of thought needs to go into
the packing process.
Next comes the dreaded chore of carrying the luggage and family to ever pleasant airport. The day

Lord of the Flies Comparative Analysis Angela Boui Throughout the book Lord of the Flies
several different universal themes occurred. Not just in this book but in movies and TV shows
as well. The different themes all show morals surrounding situations both good and bad. One
main theme that is present is how people abuse power when it is not earned. This happens
because people crave power and they want to be in control. In the following paragraphs, different
themes will be linked with the book Lord of the Flies and similar movies and TV shows such as

The second quote from Lord of the Flies is when Jack said to Piggy You would, would you?
Fatty! Jack had said this in a vicious and humiliating way because he wanted Piggy to feel left
out and very discouraged. The same thing happened in the book Miss Peregrine s Home for
Peculiar Children because Jacob had been an outcast ever since he had seen that horrible beast
like thing. His friends had started calling him crazy only to make themselves feel better and to
put Jacob down. The last theme that occurred in both books was that society holds everyone
together. In Lord of the Flies, the Island had been their society. The quote that shows how
society is falling apart is The world, that understandable and lawful world, was slipping away.
The same meaning is also present in Miss Peregrine s Home for Peculiar Children. When Jacob
left his home in Florida, he had lost all signs of society. He had shut out all rules and went to a
different time zone. His world was overrun with monsters. With all the different themes
happening inside the book Lord of the Flies we are able to link them to other movies and TV
shows. The different themes show how any movie or TV show can have similar themes but can
have a very diverse background. In conclusion, the themes of the book Lord of the Flies have

Roanoke Colony Essay
The greatest unsolved mystery in the Americas. Fred Willard, the director of The Lost Colony
Center for Science and Research. In 1587 John White, an artist from England, and pronounced
governor of the Roanoke expedition, was sent with approximately one hundred and fifteen men,
women, and children to stabilize a colony on the Island of Roanoke, in the Outer Banks. Promptly
after settling in Roanoke the colonists were in need of supplies; John White left for England for
materials in 1587 and returned in 1590 to discover the colony had vanished. This mystery ensued
many suppositions about what happened to the settlement of Roanoke, now known as the Lost
Colony. This includes the idea that all inhabitants of the island were assassinated. This... Show more

John White wrote about his return to the missing Roanoke colony; White talks about the colonists
previous plan to migrate elsewhere if conditions became too unbearable. In an excerpt from The
fift voyage of Master John White into the West Indies and parts of America called Virginia, in
the yeere 1590 John White states, ...for at my comming away they were prepared to remove from
Roanoak 50 miles to the maine. Therefore at my departure from them in Anno 1587 I willed them,
that if they should happen to be distressed in any of those places, that then they should carve over
the letters or name.. . Consequently, in the same excerpt White points out that there was no sign of
distress, only a tree with the carving of the word CROTOAN. John White also records finding
chests scavenged over by savages; At our returne from the Creeke, some of our Saylers meeting us,
tolde us that they had found where divers chests had bene hidden, and long sithence digged up
againe and broken up, and much of the goods in them spoyled and scattered about, but nothing left,
of such things as the Savages knew any use of, undefaced. Comparatively, these events point at one
outcome: The colonists left the island to pursue materials needed for survival, unable to take with
them invaluable objects, and had assimilated with the native peoples. Similarly, John White
accounts for this saying,

Pierre De Fermat Essay
Pierre de Fermat Pierre de Fermat was born in the year 1601 in Beaumont de Lomages, France.
Mr. Fermat s education began in 1631. He was home schooled. Mr. Fermat was a single man
through his life. Pierre de Fermat, like many mathematicians of the early 17th century, found
solutions to the four major problems that created a form of math called calculus. Before Sir Isaac
Newton was even born, Fermat found a method for finding the tangent to a curve. He tried
different ways in math to improve the system. This was his occupation. Mr. Fermat was a good
scholar, and amused himself by restoring the work of Apollonius on plane loci. Mr. Fermat
published only a few papers in his lifetimeand gave no systematic exposition of his methods. He

Fermat s proof is as follows. Let n be prime, and suppose it is equal to x2 y2 that is, to (x+y)(x y).
Now, by hypothesis, the only basic, integral factors of n and n and unity, hence x+y=n and x
y=1. Solving these equations we get x=1 /2 (n+1) and y=1 /2(n 1). He gave a proof of the
statement made by Diophantus that the sum of the squares of two numbers cannot be the form
of 4n 1. He added a corollary which I take to mean that it is impossible that the product of a square
and a prime form 4n 1[even if multiplied by a number that is prime to the latter], can be either a
square or the sum of two squares. For example, 44 is a multiple of 11(which is of the form 4 x 3 1)
by 4, therefore it cannot be expressed as the sum of two squares. He also stated that a number of the
form a2 +b2, where a is prime b, cannot be divided by a prime of the form 4n 1. Every prime of the
form 4n+1 is accurate as the sum of two squares. This problem was first solved by Euler, who
showed that a number of the form 2(4n+1) can be always showen as the sum of two squares, of
course it was Mr. Pierre de Fermat. If a, b, c, are integers, a2 + b2= c2, then ab cannot be a
square. Lagrange solved this. The determination of a number x such that x2n+1 may be squared,
where n is a given integer which is not squared. Lagrange gave a solution of this also. There is

Disadvantages Of Natural Dyes
Since the pre historic era, natural dyes are common for their use in coloring of food substrate,
leather, wool, silk and cotton. The use of this eco friendly, non toxic and non allergic natural dyes
have become important in order to avoid some hazardous synthetic dyes. However, given that the
synthetic dyes are easier to use, cheap and widely produced and available, the usage of natural dyes
continues on decreasing since the 19th century (Samanta, 2009).
Natural dyes produce very uncommon, soothing and soft shades as compared to synthetic dyes. It
is known that natural dyes produce unusual colors that appear to be harmonizing. On the other
hand, synthetic dyes are widely available at a reasonable price and produce a variety of colors;

Dyeing Process
One of the key factors in the trading of successful textile products is the dyeing process. This helps
to beautify and enhance the fabric. Usually the consumers look to some basic characteristics of
product such as good fixation. This is to ensure to maintain the properties, the substances that give
color to fabric must contain high affinity, resistance to fading and be economically feasible. First,
drain the vinegar mixture then pour the turmeric dye over the fabric into the pot; heat over medium
low flame. As the fabric left longer in the turmeric dye, the more vibrant the color. Then afterwards,
wash the fabric.

Difference Between Rich And Poor
The Gap Between the Rich and the Poor
Each year, thousands of people all over the world come to the U.S. to chase a better life with
beautiful houses, luxury cars and dream jobs, because they think America is the land of
opportunities. However, inside this country, there are a lot of problems which lead to inequality,
and one of them is a growing gap between the rich and poor people. The problem with rising
inequality is a person like me who earns 1000 times as much as the typical American, Nick
Hanauer, a venture capitalist explains on the film Inequality For All. If a normal person earns $10
an hour, a rich person can earn $10,000 an hour. Following economists and social scientists, the
three primary reasons which lead to this gap are the taxes that the rich and poor pay, lack of
education, and the increase of unemployment.
Firstly, when we talk about the difference between the rich and poor, we must discuss paying
taxes. On the report of Robert Reich, the former secretary labor, in Inequality For All, in 1978,
the middle class and the working class earned over $48,000 per year and the upper class earned
over $393,000. However, in 2010, this income gap rose significantly. Meanwhile, the income of
the top 1% increased dramatically to over one million a year. The working class only earns around
$33,000 a year. In this film, Robert Reich also says that Today the richest 400 Americans have more
wealth than the bottom 150 million of us put together. That means the assets

establishment of our modern system of our modern building labor force infrastructure. The
establishment of secret societies, such as the Freemasons also came about as a result of the building
of cathedrals using Gothic architecture.
The 11th to 15th centuries saw a great surge of the Christian Church within Europe which was
emphasized by the persuasiveness of the Crusades. The growing population of the Church increased
the demand for the increased presence in architectural monuments and during the Romanesque and
Gothic periods, a great cathedral construction boom occurred across Europe.
The Romanesque and Gothic architectural styles were distinctive in not only the massiveness of
the Romanesque monuments and the introduction of the cruciform plan but also for the
introduction of the Gothic era art within the Cathedrals which included the inclusion of art the
radiating Rose Window, column figures and the gargoyle among many others. Within Europe, there
was a progression of architectural styles, many of which are still evident in the monuments today.
The major styles are considered as Carolingian (800 900 AD); Ottonian (1000s); Romanesque
(1000s 1100s); Gothic (late 1100s 1400s). While Romanesque is considered as the architectural
style which preceded the Gothic, many of the distinct Romanesque features found within the great

Stendhal was One of the Greatest Writers of the 19th Century
1.Marie Henri Beyle, who was known by his pen name Stendhal, was one of the greatest writers
of the 19th century. Stendhal was born in Grenoble, France to a wealthy family in January of
1783. His mother died when he was only seven years old. At the age of sixteen, Stendhal moved to
Paris to study for the entrance examination to the Г‰cole Polytechnique but instead enlisted and
served as a lieutenant in the French army for eighteen months. He spent the next few years in Paris
writingand taking drama classes, followed by a second military role in the French army until the
French Empire fell in 1814. After his time in the army had ended, Stendhal moved to Italy where
he started his career as a writer.
In Italy, Stendhal wrote his first novel titled Rome, Naples, and Florence in 1817. Then in 1818,
he fell in love with Mathilde Dambowski who did not return his affections. Stendhal s love for
Mathilde inspired a lot of his most significant works. Taking advantage of his success in writing,
Stendhal returned to Paris in 1821 to discuss the latest ideas of art, literature, and politics. This
helped him write his next two novels; On Love and Racine and Shakespeare. Stendhal wrote Racine
and Shakespeare as a romantic novel that insists that literature should reflect its historical moment.
Stendhal continued to write magnificent novels until 1842 when he passed away as the result of a
stroke.

Ethan Frome By Edith Wharton
Ethan Frome by Edith Wharton is set in a small New England town in the early twentieth century. It
revolves around three main characters: Ethan Frome, a rural farmer; Zeena Frome, his chronically
ill wife; and Mattie Silver, Zeena s cousin who lives with them in a serving capacity. These
characters each have their own journey through this story, but those journeys entwine and affect
everyone else with the actions each character takes. Ethan Fromeas the title character perhaps has
the most important journey in this novel, though, and several recurring themes affect each of his
actions and decisions. Marriage, loveand desire, and desire versus duty are the themes most guiding
Ethan Frome as he works through his feelings for the two women in his life because they define
every step of his journey from beginning to end.
To begin, Ethan s unhappy marriage with Zeena is the starting point from which all of his
decisions are made. The marriage itself happened under almost false pretenses when Zeena
came to help care for his sick mother. After being in such an oppressive, silent environment for
so long, Zeena s volubility was music in his ears, and her capable, competent attitude restored
his shaken balance and magnified his sense of what he owed her (26). This initial exposure to
Zeena led Ethan to a kind of bedazzlement, so when he saw her ready to leave after his mother s
funeral, he was seized with an unreasoning dread of being left alone on the farm and asked her to

Who Discovered The Basic Principle Of Heredity
Abstract
Gregor Mendel AKA the father of genetics was an Austrian monk, who discovered the basic
principles of heredity through pea experiments in his personal garden. He is widely considered a
pioneer in the field of genetics due to his observations of his pea experiment becoming the
foundation of modern genetics and the study of hereditary genetics as well. These observations of
his experiment in 1857 leading an increased interest, and many discoveries that shall be imparted in
this paper. DNA AKA deoxyribonucleic acid is the hereditary information of all organisms.
Composed of four bases in the structure of a double helix.
ORIGIN OF DNA
Early history. Gregor Mendel discovered the basic principles of heredity through pea
experiments in his garden. The observations of these experiments became the foundation of all
genetics subsequently. DNA emerged in 1868 by a physician named Friedrich Miescher. For a
long time, the correlation of genes and nucleic acid was a mystery, until 1944 when American
scientist Oswald Avery able proved genes were made of nucleic acids(. The original person to
reveal the structure of DNA actually was a women, Rosalind Franklin, but her work was
embezzled by two men, Francis Crick and James Watson whom received a nobel prize shortly after
for their work.
Modern History. Since the time it was discovered to now, there has been many advancements in the
knowledge we have about DNA. In 1990, the Human Genome Project was

There is a lot of misconception about drug legalization. Uncertainty towards this concept is
usually because of stigma surrounding drug use or confusing legalization with decriminalization.
Decriminalising an illegal drug means taking away penalties for possessing that drug but leaving
its distribution in the hands of criminals who can continue to contaminate the drug any way they
see fit. Legalization by contrast brings narcotics entirely under government control. That means
that when a drug is legalized, the government is the one in charge of regulating the sales,
content, and distribution of the drug. The most universally effective example of a government
deciding to legalize a dangerous substance, which in its unregulated state was killing over a
thousand people a year, happened when the United States decided to legalize alcohol. Before it
was legalized, alcohol in the Prohibition era was laced with poison and the alcohol content of a
drink varied dramatically (Ostroff). Back then the selling of alcohol, like the drug market today,
was a criminally operated free for all. Unregulated and tainted liquor killed over 10,000 americans

Cretaceous-Triassic Extinction Research Paper
An extinction event (also known as a mass extinction or biotic crisis) is a widespread and rapid
decrease in the amount of life on Earth. It occurs when the rate of extinction increases with respect
to the rate of speciation. Extinction occurs at an uneven rate.
The most recent and debatably best known, the Cretaceous Paleogene extinction event, which
occurred approximately 66 million years ago (Ma), was a large scale mass extinction of animal and
plant species in a geologically short period of time.
It is now generally believed that the K Pg extinction was triggered by a massive comet or asteroid

Although the New England and Chesapeake regions of the United States were both settled by the

Settlers in the Chesapeake region used force to take possession of Indian lands. The Chesapeake

New England was north of the Chesapeake, and included Massachusetts Bay Colony, Plymouth,

Englanders were largely Puritan Separatists, who sought religious freedom. They came in large

Protestants, however, wanted complete separation from Catholicism and looked to Calvinism.
These Separatists, along with the Catholics who had not joined the Church of England, came to
New England in hopes of finding this religious freedom where they would be free to have their
own beliefs. The farms that they had been left with were much smaller and less productive. The
farmers were in need of more land, and they had to fight with Indians over land rights. This had led
to Bacon s Rebellion of 1676. Although the rebellion was not successful, it was one of the major

Mudd had no knowledge that John Wilkes Booth had assassinated President Lincoln. Stephen
Christianson said, there was little evidence linking him to Booth s crime. Yes, Mudd had once
helped plot to kidnap him, but he had never thought to kill a man (Swanson 111). Even if he did
know, General Thomas E. Ewing, the defence council for Doctor Mudd s trial, had stated, Those
who committed it are shown to have acted for themselves, not as the instruments of Doctor Mudd
(Christianson). Doctor Mudd had not revealed John Wilkes Booth was hiding in his
farmhouse.when receiving the news from soldiers in Bryantown, Mudd knew the the man John
Wilkes Booth is the one who had assassinated President Abraham Lincoln( Swanson 111).
Although he had not betrayed John Wilkes Booth and had kept this a secret, he maintained
distress, fear, and raging anger and no longer provided hospitality for Booth. He should not have

Importance Of Biblical Worldview
Wolters writes in his book, Creation Regained, that a worldview is almost essential to human
beings because we cannot live without belief and guidance, which a worldview serves as
(Wolters, 76). As Christians, we must have a biblical worldview, and in order to have a biblical
worldview, it is critical for Christians to understand and discern structure and direction. Structure
and direction are the main biblical themes, which Christians use to reform and renew every sector
of their lives.
I.Structure Structure is one aspect that defines an individual s worldview. Wolters defines
structure as the essence of a creation that God placed in His creational law (Wolters, 682). It does
not change despite human s perversity. For Christians, it is necessary to discern and understand
structure since it is in all aspects of society, and it serves as a standard in all those areas. It acts as
an anchor that provides definition and places boundaries and limits. As an example, a structure in
government defines what it is supposed to do and places boundaries and limitations for it to run
like a government, not like a school or a business. In a way, structure is God s mercy because not
only does it set a limit for creations, but it also sets a limit on the enemy and prevents its dominion
and bondage. Structure helps us to think about the questions in this world in a different
perspective. It enables us to think in a Godly, scriptural perspective, which will serve as a guideline
for us to

Differential Association Theory Paper
The Social Process Theories of crime causation help individuals to understand why people engage
in crime and why they are labeled the way they are. The Differential Association Theory was
recognized by Edwin H. Sutherland who said, The Differential Association Theory is a criminology
theory that looks at the acts of the criminal as learned behaviors. (Bergeron, 2015) Sutherland
proposed that through interactions with others, individuals, young or old, learn to develop the
techniques, attitudes, values, and motives for criminal behavior. When a child is born, they adapt
to what those around them say, wear, eat, etc., and they begin to learn the understanding of societal
norms and values. If a child is growing up in a household where he or... Show more content on

By having law enforcement patrolling neighborhoods and arresting those who are committing
crimes will help to keep the community safer. Deviant criminals should be incarcerated and then
should have to participate in a rehabilitation program to help make sure the criminal act does not
get repeated. Overall, these two Social Process Theories each help to explain how children who
are exposed to violence at a young age may grow up to become violent because they adapted to
the behaviors of their elders and why those who commit crimes get labeled as deviant. By police
patrolling rough neighborhoods to try and reduce the crime rate is a start to children not having to
grow up around violence and it ll stop people from being labeled a criminal. By families removing
their children from dangerous situations will help them in the sense that their child wont be
exposed to violent behaviors and want to pick up on certain

Atlanta Symphony Orchestra Observation
On April 28, 2017, I attended the School of Music s Atlanta Symphony Orchestra. The program last
about two hours and had a ten minute intermission. This non ticketed event was held at Morgan
Hall in the Bailey Performing Arts Center on Kennesaw State University s Kennesaw campus. The
program consisted of three unique musical pieces performed by the renowned Atlanta Symphony
Orchestra.
Before the concert began, I was able to observe the audience members outside of the entrance
doors. Unlike the other Kennesaw State concerts that I attended, there was an extremely large and
diverse crowd dressed formally. The doors opened fifteen minutes before the concert began and an
usher escorted me to the second row in front of the stage. As the performance began, felt a formal
and prestigious atmosphere within the crowd. I began to copy my neighbor s etiquette in order to
fit in with the audience. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The orchestra performed passionately and precisely with perfect synchronization. The dramatic
crescendos and decrescendos really brought out the emotions of each piece. The first piece
performed was called Don Juan (1888 1889) and started off fast paced and suspenseful.
Composed by Richard Strauss (1864 1949), the piece had a lot of dissonance within it. There were
times when the piece would slow down gradually then suddenly speed up, returning back to its
original pacing. Each instrumental section could be heard precisely and no one section
overwhelmed another. The conductor stood out the most during the performance and excellently
controlled the pacing and tone of the piece. His exotic movements seemed excessive at first, but I
began to realize that he was simply passionate about the

The Importance of John Adams 1763-1776
The Importance of John Adams 1763 1776 Fear is the foundation of most governments, (1)
quoted by the fearless leader John Adams. John Adams played significant roles during the years
of 1763 through 1776. He was in support of self governing and independence which caused him
to become the leader of the Boston Massacre. Between 1765 and 1776, Adams s involvement in
radical politics ran apace with the escalation of events. In 1770, he was elected to the
Massachusetts House of Representatives, and he later served as chief legal counsel to the Patriot
faction and wrote several important resolutions for the lower house in its running battle with
Governor Thomas Hutchinson. He also wrote a penetrating essay on the need for an... Show more

His work was first published in the Boston Gazette and was published on January 23, 1775. In
America, John Adams works were published as pamphlets, but in London they were published in
abridged form. His essays were signed Novanglus, and they were a reply to other essays signed,
Massachusettensis. John Adams did not know who the artist of Massachusettensis was but he
had a very strong feeling that it was Jonathan Sewell, later he discovered that his antagonist was
Daniel Leonard. Many believe that John Adams played a role in the Boston Tea Party, but in
actuality he had nothing to do with the Boston Tea Party, only thing Adams did was approve it.
He felt it had reasonable motives, was very bold, and should be marked as a big moment in
history. Adams believed British wouldn t respect the colonist rights unless someone forced them.
That s how John Adams became one of the four most important Patriot leaders in Boston. After
the Boston Tea Party, King George III grew highly furious because so much tea was destroyed
and he closed the whole Boston port. Not only did King George III close the port of Boston but
he was so extremely upset that he suspended all town meetings in Massachusetts colonies and
instead of having Boston listed as the capital of Massachusetts, he made Salem the capital. King
George III wanted these new rules to stay enforced until Boston could find a way to pay back all
the tea that they decided

Grassroot Activism
Greenroot Activism
Public policy and civil rights movements are one of the most talked about subjects to date, many
different actions were taken to bring better rights for those who didn t have any. With the
emergence of activist organizations, they gave black minorities motivations to defend their own
civil rights. Many activist organizations such as: NAACP (National Association for the
Advancement of Colored People) and the SNCC (Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee)
who fought to end segregation and social inequalities. Many minorities who didn t have the power,
who were afraid or felt like they couldn t do anything, were given hope to try and push for change
in public policy and civil rights. Grassroot Activism contributed in the success of civil rights
movements and change of public policy because of the collaboration of all the organizations and
excellent leadership by doing nonviolent marches, through legal actions.
The Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee was an organization which did nonviolent
protest and become one of the most common groups for grassroot activism in the 1960 s, with
different marches coordinated by the SNCC themselves to fight segregation. They led many
marches against segregation and for civil rights, with one of their most known efforts were the
Mississippi Freedom Summer Project and the Selma March. At that time Mississippi was over
40% African American and only about 5 percent of those were eligible voters (Secondary Source on

The Raft Of The Medusa Essay
The Raft of the Medusa depicts the minute when, following thirteen days drifting on the raft, the
remainder of the fifteen survivors see a ship drawing nearer from a distance. Nau of these
people that a pictured surviving on the raft were most likely cannibals. Cannibalism was the
only way that the survivors were successful. Per an early British analyst, the work is set at a
minute when the ruin of the raft may be said to be complete . The depiction is very large, so that
the greater part of the figures rendered are life sized and those in the frontal area twice life
measure, pushed near the photo plane and swarming onto the viewer, who is drawn into the
physical activity as a member. Gericault s painting was designed in a pyramid form, which
comes full circle in the figure of the negro waving a cloth toward the boat seen in the distance. In
any case, the composition of the painting gives such energy to the idea of hope among the
wrecked survivors. The raggedy raft is displayed as unsafe as it rides the profound waves, while
the men are rendered as shattered and in despair. One old man holds the cadaver of his child at his
knees; another removes his hair in dissatisfaction... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Pros And Cons Of Tattoos
Society has a lot of say when it comes to things being socially acceptable or unacceptable. One
things that has become more accepted by many are tattoos, the current generation has more
tattoos than most. As a college student with more than thirteen tattoos I get asked this question
all the time, Where do you plan on working? , Do you think you will actually be able to get good
job Do this mean the workplace has become more considerate when it comes to the recent trend
of tattoos? Over the years tattoos were not as popular as they are today. Tattoos were genuinely
for a few specific group or behavior. The image tattoos usually give were associated with gangs,
bikers, rappers, and rockstars. Now tattoos are looked at in a completely different way. They are
a form of expressing yourself, showing your love for art, and the most common reason people get
tattoos is to honor someone or something. According to a similar article, a lot of people who hold
entry level jobs, work industrial jobs, along with high executive positions have tattoos. Now that
tattoos are common for women and men questions are now going unanswered. The ongoing
question in this article is, what is an employer to do when it comes to employees having body art?
Do tattoos speak say something about the individual? (Gross, Barrie. Tattoos in the Workplace:
What s an Employer to Do? ) There are many things taken or that should be taken into consideration
when discussing tattoos in the workplace.

Neutral Bathrooms In Schools
In my junior AP Class, my teacher assigned us a project in which we would come up with an idea
that would improve the quality of our school, and then create a proposal that we would take to the
school board in hopes of getting it actually implemented into the high school. My group was made
up of roughly six other students, and we were working towards adding genderneutral bathrooms to
the school. The idea was mine, and was mine because it s an issue that affects me and many of my
friends. I am transgender, I identify as nonbinary, as neither a boy nor a girl. Having to choose
between two incorrect gendered bathrooms to use can sometimes be emotionally taxing, and
stressful. The bathrooms would help not only me and other nonbinary students, but also binary

thought that if a person was truly transgender, then they should be able to use their gender s

The Effects Of Radiation On Tissue And Its Effects On The...
Since x rays were discovered in 1895, there have been several improvements made to diagnostic x
ray to make it safer for both the patient and the radiographer. Some of these improvements include,
aluminum filters, protective housing, lead shields/ aprons, and quicker exposure film. These
changes have undoubtedly improved the diagnostic radiation process, however both patient and
radiographer will still receive some dose of radiation. The effects of radiation on tissue are divided
into two types: deterministic and stochastic. A deterministic effect describes ionizing radiation
induced damage that occurs once a certain threshold is exceeded and increases in severity the
greater the dose.1. (pg2 3) Some of the more extreme deterministic effects that occur with
exposure to high amounts of radiation in a short period of time are: Skin Erythema/Necrosis,
cataracts, sterility, radiation sickness, and death. Stochastic effects are probabilistic and there is no
threshold amount that must be reached. As the amount of exposure increases so does probability
of effects. However the amount of exposure does not correspond to the severity of the effects.
Some of the stochastic risk can include development of various types of cancer and hereditary
defects. It is more difficult to track the long term stochastic effects that occur during chronic low
doses exposure because there are other additional factors that must be taken into account. We are all
exposed to background radiation. The

Dementia With Lewy Bodies ( Dlb )
Dementia with Lewy bodies (DLB) is a type of dementia that shares symptoms with both
Alzheimer s disease and Parkinson s disease. It may account for around 10 per cent of all cases of
dementia (Alzheimer s Society, 2016). Lewy refers to the inflammation or neuro inflammation of
the brain (Surendranathan et al, 2015). Both Parkinson s disease and dementia with Lewy bodiesare
age related diseases, although onset before age 65 years is not uncommon and both diseases are
more common in men than in women (Walker et al, 2015).
Lewy body was named after the scientist who discovered them, and found that it is made of a
protein called alpha synuclein (Brooker and Lillyman, 2013). When this protein builds up, it keeps
the brain from making the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
DLB shares mental symptoms, such as confusion and loss of memory, with Alzheimer s disease
and gait and slow movement, like with Parkinson s disease. For that reason it is often misdiagnosed.
Accurate diagnosis is paramount for successful treatment, although this must be done with caution
as people with LBD are characteristically highly sensitive to certain drugs which can worsen
unpleasant symptoms or even be fatal (Lewy Body Society, 2015).
The point prevalence of dementia is roughly 25% in patients with Parkinson s disease.6 The risk
of dementia increases with duration of disease and reaches 50% 10 years after diagnosis.7 Most
patients who survive for more than 10 years will develop dementia.8 The incidence of dementia
is roughly 100 per 1000 person years; however, it is much lower during the first years after
diagnosis.9,10 Increasing age is a risk factor for the development of dementia in patient s with
Parkinson s disease, and thus the time to dementia decreases with increasing age at onset of
Parkinson s disease.11
There are fewer prevalence and incidence data for dementia with Lewy bodies.

The Garden Of Earthly Delights
Hieronymous Bosch s 16th century triptych, The Garden of Earthly Delights, is a heavily
discussed image among scholars. Because of the obscure nature of the painting and its subjects,
especially so in the context of the painting s time period, interpretations and analyses of the
image are widespread. Common interpretations of the piece include that the image is a symbolic
warning against shame and sin, a warning against woman s temptations, the rebirth of a joyous
world, and the Garden as a Paradise Lost . In the 15th and 16th centuries, there were various
controversies surrounding the papacy of the Catholic Church, as well as other matters of Catholic
corruption, which would eventually lead to the reformation. Expectedly, an unsophisticated
symbolic analysis of the painting may lead one to interpret the image as a representation of the
Final Judgment , which is plausible given this context of Bosch s time period. Because of
religious conflict and turmoil, people were likely confused and fearful of literal apocalyptic
consequences. A more sophisticated allegorical analysis of the piece is instead revealing of Bosch
s conceptual interpretation of the world and reality itself. The title suggests the piece contains
earthly delights , yet the absence of any man like items suggests that Bosch s painting was instead
metaphorically symbolic in its iconographic depictions. The center panel should thus be interpreted
allegorically in order to decode Bosch s conceptual

Human Cells And The Human Body
Kidneys are one of the most essential organs in a human body which are crucial for blood filtration,
toxins, and waste removal and maintaining and regulating the body s pH. The researchers created
kidney structures from induced pluripotent stem cells (iPS) called organoids which have the
function and structural organization of a human fetal kidneyin the first trimester. This study used the
results of a previous study where human embryonic stem cells were differentiated towards a renal
lineage. As a result, the progenitors for both collecting ducts and nephrons were generated from
iPS. In that study, the researchers found out that although both nephrons and collecting ducts
originate from the intermediate mesoderm layer, they develop at a different specific time and area
from the mesoderm layer. The intermediate mesoderm layer is a germ layer arising from the
mesoderm, and it is important in the development of kidneys, reproductive system, and lower
urinary tract of the embryo. Thus, the scientists exploited this temporospatial origin difference, and
they identified the regulating mechanism behind what caused the induction of collecting duct
versus other kidney progenitors like the nephrons for instance. As a result of this finding, kidney
organoids were formed which were segmented into distal and proximal tubules, loops of Henle,
glomeruli, and podocytes which establish a vascularization network. This study is important in near
future because it can be used as a model for

ASP.NET Framework offers a development environment that comes with various tools and
technologies that aid developers in building enterprise class web services, websites, and web
apps. Along with this ASP.NET is part of the Microsoft .NET Framework which gives the ability
to utilize classes within the .NET Framework. With the implementation of Cloud computing
platforms and ASP.NET the benefits offered by combining the two proves to be significant in
terms of cutting down costs, management, maintenance, and the need for resources since most
cloud providers are already providing SaaS (software as a service), PaaS (platform as a service),
and IaaS (infrastructure as a service) altogether. However demand to move onto the cloud is
substantially increasing resulting in the massive surge of cloud providers coming into existence.
With various cloud provider competitors out there Windows Azure which is a Microsoft cloud
platform is one of the more notable cloud providers when it comes to ASP.NET applications and
services over the web. Introduction The main objective of this research report is to present and

The Life Of Faye G. Abdellah s Legacy
Faye G. Abdellah s Legacy
In life one has to take risks in order to bring forth a vision to life. Through risk taking, Faye G.
Abdellah achieved her inner most dreams of furthering the science of nursing research. Faye was a
pioneer nursing researcher that helped transform nursing theory, nursing care, and nursing
education. In 1960, she was influenced by the desire to promote patient centered comprehensive
nursing care. Faye described nursing as a service to individuals, to families and therefore to the
society. She was a rebel from the start in her efforts to promote nursing. Through time, she learned
to disguise her rebellious leadership methods under the title politically correct. Even when faced
with setbacks Faye continued to persevere (Houser Player, 2004).
Throughout Faye s life she demonstrated strong team leadership styles such as her remarkable
courage and determination for pursuing her vision. The courageous risks she took in her
leadership roles were all in an effort to improve patient care throughout the world. For example,
during a visit to the San Diego long term care facility Faye noticed statutory violations and other
evidence of substandard care. During her opening of the conference of the American Health Care
Association, she announced to them that the lack of patient care was unacceptable in the homes
they licensed. The next morning she received recognition from her boss which is the US
Department of Health and Human Services. Faye was applauded

  • 2. The Theories And Measurement Of Personality Characteristics Personality does not have a specific meaning in a psychological term and there have been multitude of definitions. What involves personality, is not just one thing; there are various factors that contribute what is personality? Personality seems to be located upon a complicated interaction between genetic, environmental factors, and with race, ethnicity, culture, age, as well as, gender. In 1937, Gordon Allport defined personality as the dynamic organisation within the individual of those psychophysical systems that determine a unique adjustment to the environment (Maltby, Day, and Macaskill, 2013, pp.18). However, in 1961, Allport defined it again, but this time as the dynamic organisation inside the person of psychophysical systems that determine the person s characteristics patterns of behaviour and thought (8 Theories and Measurement of Personality Characteristics, 2014). His definitions are the most quoted. This essay will discuss the advantages and disadvantages focused on personality and comparing it to the controversy of situations in predicting behaviour by including some empirical research. Personality is a concept used in our everyday lives, due to the judgements as a society we form, consciously or not about others. The word personality is often used by people, referring it as a global implicit judgements created by all the impressions and feelings made by an individual. When people react to certain situations in a fairly consistent manner, this will ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Gender Inequality And Ethnic Inequality Introduction To begin with, it might be necessary to define the terms of Gender inequality and ethnic inequality in employment. While gender disadvantage refers to the prejudicial treatment of an individual or group based solely on issues of gender (Robert, 2008); ethnic inequality indicates the unfair distribution of opportunities and resources between the majority white and black and minority ethnic groups in the labour market. The two issues have been rooted in the job market for long, and despite recent progress of improvement, the issues remain and probably have evolved into more covert and complex forms. In the following context, the two kinds of disadvantages will firstly be introduced respectively, together with reasons behind the scene; yet, acknowledge the relevance of gender differences to ethnic inequality, the explanations given for BME group s predicament will be aware of the overlaps between gender and ethnicity issues; a brief conclusion will also be provided in the final part, however, given the complexity of the picture, for example, the extent to which women and men from different ethnic groups experience disadvantages varies (Vittachi, 2011), it is hard to generalise and any predictions about future prospect may not be realized. The Position of Women in the Labour Market Over the last 40 years, women have achieved great success in gaining their equalities in the workplace, this view is particularly advocated by a stream of feminists called Liberal ... For my passion project, I decided to research golf course architecture. It has been difficult at times but no matter the challenge I have overcome it to get to this point. Golf coursearchitecture may seem like an easy job to take over, or you may think that it doesn t take a lot of effort, and you d be completely wrong. The thoughts that have to run through your mind while designing a golfcourse are endless. When designing a golf course you have to think of scenarios as a player and think to yourself, How would I play this hole? , or What would make this hole easier or more difficult? ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I believe my time management was extremely successful because I was able to adjust my original plans to fit the time I had remaining. As stated previously, I had planned on designing 3 final products, a 3d model, a virtual 3d model, as well as a drawing. As the year progressed I had to adapt to the fact that there was going to be no way that I would be able to finish all three of those final products by the deadline. After I finished designing my first hole on my drawing, I realized that this was going to have to be my main, if not my only, final product. I was able to identify the issue with my plan, and modify it to fit the amount of time I had remaining, leaving myself a good path to success. I believe I might ve been able to fit more than one of the final products in, but I didn t want to be forced to rush, or be stressed because passion project is supposed to be a positive experience. I am happy with the decision I made on this because I think it allowed me to really give 100% effort towards my drawing, and draw it to the best of my ability. Another decision I had to make as research for passion project was winding down, was scheduling a new interview. Originally I had planned a face to face interview with the man designing the brand new course at my ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Igor Stravinsky s The Rite Of Spring As I listened to Igor Stravinsky download 70, Stravinsky s musical piece differs from that of the romantic era by the unadorned lines, raw energy, and elemental truth in which was incorporated into his musical piece I listened to and analyzed The Rite of Spring. During this period modern artists such as Igor Stravinskywere determined to turn the public away from Romantic idealism and back to harsh reality, as stated. In this particular piece it was heard to have intensifying metallic sounds which are not expected catching the listeners as well as the dancers of this particular art off guard. Swales (1990) discuss communicative purpose as a starting point for defining genre. In the case of newspaper culture columns, communicative purpose of each culture columns should be analyzed and then it will be determined if they share a set of communicative purposes and further a class of communicative events or not. Our nig which is the name given to a free black slave, even though this name was given to a slave that was free did not mean you were free. This story exposes how the racial dynamics of slavery are replicated in the interracial encounters outside slavery. Our Nig was a story of a slave that fit under this category of not being free when freedom existed. In this passage I will give my critical analysis of my interpretation of Our Nig Frado who was abandoned by her mother and left at the hands of the Belmont family were she was taken as an indentured servant, while being in this house Frado experienced physical and verbal abuse while being in this household. I feel like Lois Leveen seems to make an excuse for the treat of Frado as this was a destined situation for slaves that were free. She also feels like that Harriet Wilsons account does not hold much weigh as a slave narrative because it was a subjected and submissive intake to be enslave, In which I feel is rather ridiculous because this is an account of a little girl that was tormented and physically beaten to the point that she was incapacitated from her treatment there to support herself. In conclusion Harriet Wilson s novel to Our Nig; or Sketches from the Life of a Free Black, in a Two Story White House, North, should be seen as a valid Slave narrative that is a valid account of a slave that was not free, which suffered more then what we can imagine because of a family that wanted someone to do work for them and to improve their class status. We can point out in this novel that there was people who cared about Frado and wanted to remove her from her situation but how do we know that she would have been in a different if not the same situation with someone ... • 8. The Selfishness Of Edna Priestley s The Vanities The Selfishness of Edna Pontellier Though some may see the actions taken by Edna as justified, I feel that she was in no way justified in her actions. In the realm of the social situation in the story, she acted selfishly and disregarded her duties as a mother and a wife. She threw away a perfectly fine life for no reasons beyond her own selfishness, and abandoned her family. However, in terms of the romantic tones of the story, she freed herself from her perceived bondage and lived the life she wanted to live. This idea of freedom counteracts the view of Edna as a selfish individual and presents her in a more positive light. In this view, the author presents Edna as strong minded woman who wants to live the life that she feels she ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While this may not be a viable solution to the problem, it cannot be denied that he was trying to combat the various problems they had between them. Their relationship has had a rocky history that is far from perfect. Chopin states her marriage to LГ©once Pontellier was purely an accident... He fell in love...and pressed his suit with an earnestness and an ardor which left nothing to be desired. He pleased her; his absolute devotion flattered her (18). Edna was not fair to him when she married him without loving him. She grew fond of her husband (18), but this fondness alone is not a good reason for marriage. One could argue that Leonce was a domineering, controlling man who viewed Edna as a part of his vast wealth. However, LГ©once simply did not know how to express his love and concern for Edna, or his family, in any way other than with money. His life can be seen as stressful due to his job as well as his endless worrying over his money; as such he has little energy to care for his wife and children. • 10. Literary Warnings Literary Warnings Throughout history, authors have utilized their works of literary art to entertain and also to inform. Some texts have no merit as a form of instruction, but those usually do not last the test to time. Of the literary works that have survived through the years, the vast majority of them have a lesson to teach the reader which warns them against a certain set of behaviors which may serve as a hindrance to them either in their life or in the afterlife. Characters in works of literature can function either as ideal examples of how a person should behave, or they can function as counterexamples wherein the reader is encouraged absolutely not to emulate their behaviors. Each story provides a unique lesson and an expectation from the author that the reader will understand what it is that they are trying to teach. This is certainly true for the likes of authors such as the Beowulf author, Geoffrey Chaucer, and John Milton in their most famous literary works. Beowulf tells the story of a warrior who goes to serve another country and to fight their monster Grendel. In the epic poem Beowulf, the hero is one born to wealth and raised to wealth. This position, rather than making him weak, has allowed Beowulf to become respected in his community as a man of generosity and, because of his skills as a warrior, immense courage. To this extent, the reader sees Beowulf engaging in acts of bravery and of generosity towards his fellow men. In the prologue, in discussing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Enoch, for example, would come to characterize Seth s line and contrast individuals like Lamech in Cain s line. Noah would also be a descendant of Seth and would be allowed by Godto continue the human race despite the flood. However, the righteousness contained within Seth s line would not persist for long. Hip Hop is considered to have been born in 1973, in South Bronx, New York by Jamaican born Kool DJ Herc (Blanchard, B, 1999). He used a turntable technique at a Halloween party, which eventually became extremely popular at every party scene. The term breakdancing came to life shortly after. If your family plans a black friday shopping trip you could find yourself in long lines out in the cold morning air. Not just in this book but in movies and TV shows as well. The different themes all show morals surrounding situations both good and bad. One main theme that is present is how people abuse power when it is not earned. This happens because people crave power and they want to be in control. In the following paragraphs, different themes will be linked with the book Lord of the Flies and similar movies and TV shows such as the Walking Dead and the book Miss Peregrine s Home for Peculiar Children . The second quote from Lord of the Flies is when Jack said to Piggy You would, would you? Fatty! Jack had said this in a vicious and humiliating way because he wanted Piggy to feel left out and very discouraged. The same thing happened in the book Miss Peregrine s Home for Peculiar Children because Jacob had been an outcast ever since he had seen that horrible beast like thing. His friends had started calling him crazy only to make themselves feel better and to put Jacob down. The last theme that occurred in both books was that society holds everyone together. In Lord of the Flies, the Island had been their society. The quote that shows how society is falling apart is The world, that understandable and lawful world, was slipping away. The same meaning is also present in Miss Peregrine s Home for Peculiar Children. When Jacob left his home in Florida, he had lost all signs of society. He had shut out all rules and went to a different time zone. His world was overrun with monsters. With all the different themes happening inside the book Lord of the Flies we are able to link them to other movies and TV shows. The different themes show how any movie or TV show can have similar themes but can have a very diverse background. Pierre de Fermat, like many mathematicians of the early 17th century, found solutions to the four major problems that created a form of math called calculus. Before Sir Isaac Newton was even born, Fermat found a method for finding the tangent to a curve. He tried different ways in math to improve the system. This was his occupation. Solving these equations we get x=1 /2 (n+1) and y=1 /2(n 1). He gave a proof of the statement made by Diophantus that the sum of the squares of two numbers cannot be the form of 4n 1. He added a corollary which I take to mean that it is impossible that the product of a square and a prime form 4n 1[even if multiplied by a number that is prime to the latter], can be either a square or the sum of two squares. For example, 44 is a multiple of 11(which is of the form 4 x 3 1) by 4, therefore it cannot be expressed as the sum of two squares. He also stated that a number of the form a2 +b2, where a is prime b, cannot be divided by a prime of the form 4n 1. Every prime of the form 4n+1 is accurate as the sum of two squares. This problem was first solved by Euler, who showed that a number of the form 2(4n+1) can be always showen as the sum of two squares, of course it was Mr. Pierre de Fermat. If a, b, c, are integers, a2 + b2= c2, then ab cannot be a square. Lagrange solved this. However, inside this country, there are a lot of problems which lead to inequality, and one of them is a growing gap between the rich and poor people. The problem with rising inequality is a person like me who earns 1000 times as much as the typical American, Nick Hanauer, a venture capitalist explains on the film Inequality For All. If a normal person earns $10 an hour, a rich person can earn $10,000 an hour. Following economists and social scientists, the three primary reasons which lead to this gap are the taxes that the rich and poor pay, lack of education, and the increase of unemployment. Firstly, when we talk about the difference between the rich and poor, we must discuss paying taxes. On the report of Robert Reich, the former secretary labor, in Inequality For All, in 1978, the middle class and the working class earned over $48,000 per year and the upper class earned over $393,000. However, in 2010, this income gap rose significantly. Meanwhile, the income of the top 1% increased dramatically to over one million a year. The working class only earns around $33,000 a year. It revolves around three main characters: Ethan Frome, a rural farmer; Zeena Frome, his chronically ill wife; and Mattie Silver, Zeena s cousin who lives with them in a serving capacity. These characters each have their own journey through this story, but those journeys entwine and affect everyone else with the actions each character takes. Ethan Fromeas the title character perhaps has the most important journey in this novel, though, and several recurring themes affect each of his actions and decisions. To begin, Ethan s unhappy marriage with Zeena is the starting point from which all of his decisions are made. The marriage itself happened under almost false pretenses when Zeena came to help care for his sick mother. After being in such an oppressive, silent environment for so long, Zeena s volubility was music in his ears, and her capable, competent attitude restored his shaken balance and magnified his sense of what he owed her (26). Uncertainty towards this concept is usually because of stigma surrounding drug use or confusing legalization with decriminalization. Decriminalising an illegal drug means taking away penalties for possessing that drug but leaving its distribution in the hands of criminals who can continue to contaminate the drug any way they see fit. Legalization by contrast brings narcotics entirely under government control. That means that when a drug is legalized, the government is the one in charge of regulating the sales, content, and distribution of the drug. The most universally effective example of a government deciding to legalize a dangerous substance, which in its unregulated state was killing over a thousand people a year, happened when the United States decided to legalize alcohol. • 43. Importance Of Biblical Worldview Wolters writes in his book, Creation Regained, that a worldview is almost essential to human beings because we cannot live without belief and guidance, which a worldview serves as (Wolters, 76). As Christians, we must have a biblical worldview, and in order to have a biblical worldview, it is critical for Christians to understand and discern structure and direction. Structure and direction are the main biblical themes, which Christians use to reform and renew every sector of their lives. I.Structure Structure is one aspect that defines an individual s worldview. Wolters defines structure as the essence of a creation that God placed in His creational law (Wolters, 682). It does not change despite human s perversity. For Christians, it is necessary to discern and understand structure since it is in all aspects of society, and it serves as a standard in all those areas. It acts as an anchor that provides definition and places boundaries and limits. As an example, a structure in government defines what it is supposed to do and places boundaries and limitations for it to run like a government, not like a school or a business. In a way, structure is God s mercy because not only does it set a limit for creations, but it also sets a limit on the enemy and prevents its dominion and bondage. Structure helps us to think about the questions in this world in a different perspective. It enables us to think in a Godly, scriptural perspective, which will serve as a guideline for us to ... The Differential Association Theory was recognized by Edwin H. (Bergeron, 2015) Sutherland proposed that through interactions with others, individuals, young or old, learn to develop the techniques, attitudes, values, and motives for criminal behavior. • 52. The Effects Of Radiation On Tissue And Its Effects On The... Since x rays were discovered in 1895, there have been several improvements made to diagnostic x ray to make it safer for both the patient and the radiographer. Some of these improvements include, aluminum filters, protective housing, lead shields/ aprons, and quicker exposure film. These changes have undoubtedly improved the diagnostic radiation process, however both patient and radiographer will still receive some dose of radiation. The effects of radiation on tissue are divided into two types: deterministic and stochastic. A deterministic effect describes ionizing radiation induced damage that occurs once a certain threshold is exceeded and increases in severity the greater the dose.1. (pg2 3) Some of the more extreme deterministic effects that occur with exposure to high amounts of radiation in a short period of time are: Skin Erythema/Necrosis, cataracts, sterility, radiation sickness, and death. Stochastic effects are probabilistic and there is no threshold amount that must be reached. As the amount of exposure increases so does probability of effects. However the amount of exposure does not correspond to the severity of the effects. Some of the stochastic risk can include development of various types of cancer and hereditary defects. It is more difficult to track the long term stochastic effects that occur during chronic low doses exposure because there are other additional factors that must be taken into account. • 56. The Garden Of Earthly Delights Hieronymous Bosch s 16th century triptych, The Garden of Earthly Delights, is a heavily discussed image among scholars. Because of the obscure nature of the painting and its subjects, especially so in the context of the painting s time period, interpretations and analyses of the image are widespread. Common interpretations of the piece include that the image is a symbolic warning against shame and sin, a warning against woman s temptations, the rebirth of a joyous world, and the Garden as a Paradise Lost . In the 15th and 16th centuries, there were various controversies surrounding the papacy of the Catholic Church, as well as other matters of Catholic corruption, which would eventually lead to the reformation. Expectedly, an unsophisticated symbolic analysis of the painting may lead one to interpret the image as a representation of the Final Judgment , which is plausible given this context of Bosch s time period. Because of religious conflict and turmoil, people were likely confused and fearful of literal apocalyptic consequences. A more sophisticated allegorical analysis of the piece is instead revealing of Bosch s conceptual interpretation of the world and reality itself. The title suggests the piece contains earthly delights , yet the absence of any man like items suggests that Bosch s painting was instead metaphorically symbolic in its iconographic depictions. Human Cells And The Human Body Kidneys are one of the most essential organs in a human body which are crucial for blood filtration, toxins, and waste removal and maintaining and regulating the body s pH. The researchers created kidney structures from induced pluripotent stem cells (iPS) called organoids which have the function and structural organization of a human fetal kidneyin the first trimester. This study used the results of a previous study where human embryonic stem cells were differentiated towards a renal lineage. As a result, the progenitors for both collecting ducts and nephrons were generated from iPS. In that study, the researchers found out that although both nephrons and collecting ducts originate from the intermediate mesoderm layer, they develop at a different specific time and area from the mesoderm layer. The intermediate mesoderm layer is a germ layer arising from the mesoderm, and it is important in the development of kidneys, reproductive system, and lower urinary tract of the embryo. Thus, the scientists exploited this temporospatial origin difference, and they identified the regulating mechanism behind what caused the induction of collecting duct versus other kidney progenitors like the nephrons for instance. As a result of this finding, kidney organoids were formed which were segmented into distal and proximal tubules, loops of Henle, glomeruli, and podocytes which establish a vascularization network. In 1960, she was influenced by the desire to promote patient centered comprehensive nursing care. Faye described nursing as a service to individuals, to families and therefore to the society.
