2010, diabetes was found among approximately 303,122 deaths alone. Statistics shows the rates of
diagnoses of diabetes are relatively high among American Indians/ Alaskan Natives, Non Hispanic
blacks, and Hispanics. American Indians/Alaskan Natives represent a 15.9% diagnosed with
diabetes while Non Hispanic Blacks represent 13.2% and Hispanics representing 12.8% (American
Diabetes Association).

In the movie, Blade Runner, the city and people are very similar. They are both very different and
mysterious. The characters are not very well explained at first so give that mystery feel to them.
The city is very dark and different that other normal cities which make the city also look
mysterious. The director did this to add depth to the film and have the unknown so you can
interpret your own ideas into the movie. The cityand the people are all characters in a film. They
are the parts of the film that tell the story. The characters all play important roles. Without all of
them the movie would not be the same. It could have the same storyline but with different
people and a different city it becomes a new film. The city helps show the hidden meanings in
movies that the characters don t say. If they did say these things the city showed it would be a
long boring movie. In books these meanings are normally written but because there are no words
in movies normally, the director must show these thoughts. He will normally show this through
the weather of the city or just they way the city is acting. The city may be a busy city with cars
running around everywhere or really quiet with no one on the streets. The movie s characters and
cities are both needed to create a scene that has depth and is interesting. If neither of these are
visible then the film could not have been written very well. Both the city and people should be
similar to have the film make sense.

Analysis of The Wasteland The Wasteland, written by American born British poet T.S. Eliot, is
an epic poem that characterizes the Modernist movement. The poem captures the gloomy
mindset of post WWI society and profoundly guides the savage destruction of the Great War. The
Wasteland was Eliot s masterpiece and went on to become one of the most influential poems of
the 20th century. It exemplifies many of his specific techniques and is well known because of its
inventive poetic form. In the poem, Eliot skillfully utilizes form, symbolism, and diction to
depict the horrors of war s aftermath, signify the death of Western culture, and convey the dreary
worldwide view of the Modernist movement. Eliot s creative use of poetic form is one of the
hallmarks of The Wasteland and greatly contributed to the overall tone and mood. The structure of
the poem is uneven and almost discordant. It rapidly transitions between various unrelated scenes
at a rapid pace. For example, I read, much of the night and go south in the winter/What are the
roots that clutch, what branches grow... (19 20) illustrates an abrupt shift in the setting which
includes the speaker, time, and place. In the first line, the reader is listening to the story of Marie.
In the second line, however, the reader has been transported to a desert: a literal wasteland. This
choppy stream of images emphasizes a message about society: like the poem, society does not
progress smoothly and can even be unpredictable.
