Positive Developments in Technology Advancements and innovations in all fields are necessary if
humanity wishes to create a brighter and better future. Technology that has been created and improved
throughout the recent decades is proof of this philosophy. Medical innovations, such as the MRI
machine and advanced disease treatments, have helped to reduce deaths over the last half century.
With new diseases and complications arising frequently, keeping up with the times becomes a vital
matter and recent inventions have made sure that lives are preserved rather than destroyed. Another
area of interest is the internet, which allows people to access a wealth of information and
communicate with others from around the world. Computers, satellites, and other tech are related to
this subject, and all components combine to form a network that offers our world a collective database
an notion that would have seemed outrageous more than 50 years ago. Technology is even allowing
humankind to extend our reach beyond our Earth our solar system can be explored thanks to
inventions made since the Cold War s space race . Rockets, probes, and other developments have
made the vast unknown less daunting and also furthered our knowledge of chemical composition,
elements, and other related scientific principles. By saving and improving lives, technology has had a
profound positive impact on the world over the last 50 years.

Women In Miss Representation
Miss Representation is a documentary film that is made by Jennifer Seibel Newsom. This film talks
about many issues from the roles of females in politics, and the ways in which media negatively
impacts women. The film examines how the media have contributed to the underrepresentation of
women. Therefore, eventually, the film is persuading people to be open minded, and study how media
affects our perception, judgment, and behaviors. The targeted audience of this film is all people who
live in America. People should be convinced to change their mind about stereotypes on women.
Jennier effectively convinces the audience that the mainstream media has mainly contributed to the
under representation of women through the use of statements claimed ... Show more content on

The Main Forces That Transitioned Europe Toward Modernity
Ngo
Humanities 4314
Midterm: October 12, 2014
Isser Woloch suggests that the key forces that transitioned Europe toward modernity are associated
with four different developments which coincided with and reinforced each other in final decades of
the eighteenth century: (1) rising population; (2) increased agricultural productivity; (3) a vast increase
in commerce, particularly in the exploitation of their colonies by Britain and France; and (4) the
expansion of textile manufacturing and the beginnings of its structural transformation in England
(113).
Population Growth
Prior to the Europe s sustained growth, Europe struggled as far as keeping growth steady flowing;
with that being said, as growth of population would reach its exponential, the population would
shortly reach a downfall. The result of contagious diseases, crop failure, and the aftermath of war such
as the Thirty Years War had altogether been the cause of a depopulated community.
The fluctuation of population may be seen when one looks at the sixteenth century and the
seventeenth century; for example, sixteenth century Europe had a rise in population while seventeenth
century Europe suffered a significant decline in numbers for population. Europe s population suffered
a downfall when the prices of grain and flour had risen following the law of supply and demand;
facing the wraths of high prices and short supply, people would soon become undernourished and
starving, possibly trying to fend off hunger by

ITC has a quite favorable impact of political factors in the FMCG and Hotel business. Indian budget
of tax regulation for the tobacco is 55%, which makes the company to spend the most the profit in the

Essay On Wirrawee Society
WIRRAWEE COUNTY, AUSTRALIA From the start of September, invaders from Nearby countries
captured parts of Australia and fought over months. This invasion affects millions of people across the
country and Wirrawee, trapping them all together in a showground. One particular night in November,
the old bridge located on Lake Heron exploded, causing a great hindrance to enemies as a mode of
transport. The bridge is destroyed because of how people of Wirrawee wanted to take revenge on the
invaders. Surprisingly, the enemies did not see the explosives, and suddenly at that moment, the
soldiers died and fell in the lake. The guerillas mostly trapped inside the showground couldn t get out,

Amazingly, no one knows who in particular set up this successful plan. Mr. Clement explained: I
thought there were a few dozen people like him hiding out, but after the guerillas had seen what
happened to people who, in his words, tried to be heroes, they were all keeping well out of site from
all enemies. Soon after the bridge was blown up, some potential witnesses tracked the group down and
finally knew who they are: Seven College teenagers who camped up the mountains while the war had
happened. When they went back home unnoticed, the town was already in a great mess, and their
families trapped inside the showground. They said firstly the group had gathered petrol tankers, then
concealed motorbikes in full shape, and finally planned a cattle distraction to everyone on the bridge.
Two of them rushed to light up the petrol tankers, and as fast as possible, the four of them out there
reached for the concealed motorbikes. Thankfully, the four teenagers around the event drove for more
than half a minute, and suddenly the bridge went BOOM, but all the feral invaders on the bridge were

Essay On Foley Catheter Care
Foley Catheter Care, Adult
A Foley catheter is a soft, flexible tube that is placed into the bladder to drain urine. For as long as
your catheter is in place, you will need to:
Care for the skin around your catheter.
Empty, change, and clean drainage bags.
Check on your catheter throughout the day to make sure it is working properly and the tubing is not
twisted or curled.
Taking good care of your catheter will keep it working properly and prevent infections and other
problems from developing.
HOW TO CARE FOR THE SKIN AROUND YOUR CATHETER
It is important to take good care of your skin when you have a catheter in place. To do this:
Clean the skin around the catheter at least once every day.

Adhesive tape or a leg strap.
Steps
Wash your hands with soap and water.
Wet a washcloth in warm water and mild soap.
Wipe the skin around where the catheter was put in with the washcloth. Wipe away from the catheter
in small circles. Do not wipe toward the catheter because this can push bacteria into the urethra and
cause infection.
Pat the area dry with a clean towel. Make sure to remove all traces of soap.
Attach the catheter to your leg with adhesive tape or a leg strap, making sure there is no tension on the
catheter. If you are using adhesive tape, first remove any sticky residue left behind by the previous
tape you used.
Place the drainage bag below the level of your bladder, but keep it off the floor.
HOW TO CARE FOR YOUR DRAINAGE BAGS
You should have received a large overnight drainage bag and a smaller leg bag that fits underneath
clothing. You may wear the overnight bag at any time, but you should never wear the smaller leg bag
at night. Empty your drainage bag when it is ⅓ ½ full or at least 2 3 times a day. Change your
drainage bag once a month or sooner if it starts to smell bad or look dirty.

Toyota s Production System And How It Works With The...
In this paper we will discuss Toyota s Production System and how it works with the strategy of their
business. We will define their mission and visions goals and their core principles as it applies to their
company. This paper will also discuss their basic approaches and general practices. It is also important
to understand what the Toyota Production System entails and how Lean operations began.
For instance, according to Stevenson, lean operation is a flexible system of operations that uses
considerably fewer resources than a traditional system. For example, Lee s Transportation owned by
Tony and Lisa Jones, can no longer operate due to several vehicle accidents caused by their drivers.
This has resulted in an increase in their insurance premiums with All State and the premiums are too
expensive for them to maintain their business. This unfortunate situation has caused a great hardship
and Tony and Lisa have no other option than to discharge their employees. Eventually, they coordinate
with a business partner and financial advisor and are able to start their company again under a changed
name, Loving Hands. They are now able to obtain insurance coverage through State Farm.
The Jones re hire their previous employees but with new policies and procedures implemented. They
have incorporated monthly staff meetings on safety while driving, online training courses quarterly, in
addition to driving classes being mandatory and held annually. Tony and Lisa executes strict policies

building, otherwise noted as the National Baseball Hall of Fame, each year to get a glimpse of
baseball s immortalized heroes. Hundreds of sportswriters across the nation weed out numerous hall of

Steroids are Available Cal Ripken, Jr. and Tony Gwynn are two of the newest additions to
Cooperstown. Both men posted impressive, record holding careers; however, they were not
unanimously voted into the hall of fame because they played in an era where steroids were supposedly
present in locker rooms across Major League Baseball. Not once was either player penalized for or
even accused of using steroids. But they are guilty by association and were slapped with the steroid
label. Barry Bonds clearly used steroids prior to or during his remarkable 73 homerun season
considering he averaged just below 40 a year during his career, Right? I don t think so!
One time record holder, Roger Maris rarely hit 30 home runs in a season then busted out 61 in 1961,

accusing clean cut, hard working, Roger Maris of using steroids, but why? Why is it possible for
Roger Maris to have a once in a lifetime, dream season, yet when a modern athlete has one he was
undoubtedly using steroids.

positive for steroids. The only difference rests in the fact that Maris and Aaron were never tested. It is

Liberals Viewpoints
Liberals believe that everyone deserves a equal opportunity and that everyone should be equal.
Liberals also believe that the government should make sure that no one is in need and they also
emphasize that the government needs to play a big part to solve problems. Conservatives on the other
hand believe that people need to be more reliant on themselves that people need to be more
responsible for themselves, limited government, traditional American values and a strong defense.
One of the things that is dividing the country is the argument about whether the death penalty should

Liberals say that the Second Amendment does not give people the right to keep or bear arms but for a
militia or a national guard. Liberals think that people do not need a gun for protection it is the local
and federal governments job to protect the people through law enforcement agencies and the military
and that more gun control laws are needed to stop gun violence and this also would limit the ability for
criminals to get their hand on a gun and cause more trouble than they have already caused. To sum it
up liberals believe that the more guns there are the more violence there will be. Conservatives believe
the opposite of what liberals believe they believe that the Second Amendment gives people the right to
keep and bear arms. Conservatives believe that people have the right to bear arms their thinking what
if someone breaks into your home and the police or any law enforcement agency cannot get there in
time and the person that is being robbed has no way to defend themselves. People say but you can
have a bat or something to defend themselves against but what if the robber has a gun. Conservatives
are saying a bat or any other weapon like that is not going to stand a chance against a gun. A gun on
gun is the only way you can truly defend yourself is what conservatives are saying. One of the bigger
problems that is dividing the country is immigration. When people come into the country these people

Efficient Market Hypothesis an
The quote shows a strong relation to the efficient market hypothesis (EMH), as it implies that the costs
of capital are dependent from the amount of information given by the company. According to my
opinion, agency theory is a good explanation for costs of capital. Agency theory defines contracts as
under which one party #8211; called principal #8211; engages another party #8211; called the agent
#8211; to perform service on the principal #8217;s behalf. Concluding, the principal delegates
decision making authority to the agent. Both sides of the contract are utility maximisers and the agent
will not necessarily act in the principal #8217;s best interests. This leads to the rise of agency costs.
Agency costs are the welfare ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Then, comparability of information needs an explanation. This leads into either one standard for
accounting procedures or different standards with firms obliged to mention which standard they have
chosen. In the past, business fought constantly against the uniformation of standards and the problem
of the latter suggestion is that it needs skilled users to evaluate the impact of the different standards on
the financial statement. As only a limited group will be able to do this, the number of possible
financers is reduced. Capital could become more expensive since in free market systems a broader
supply of capital should result into lower prices for capital and the reverse effect is true. Further,
accounting has difficulties to clearly measure performance and the value of assets. Therefore, many
different methods exist as historical cost, present value, current replacement costs, net realisable value,
and deprival value accounting and all are reasonable in their approaches. Trust of the public means
more trust in managements #8217; behaviour. This is reflected in less monitoring and reduced bonding
costs. The former reduction is obvious and with good experience in more trustworthy relationships the
monitoring mechanisms should decrease. As these costs decrease, so should the costs of capital
decrease caused by a decrease of interest expense or dividend payout. A capital market #8217;s
development is dependent from investors #8217; trust

In Maryland, public assistance programs as well as housing programs are able to deny assistance to
individuals with incarceration histories or convictions on their records. The Corporation for
Supportive Housing estimates that 10 to 12 percent of former inmates are homeless. Other studies put
the count at between 15 and 27 percent (Law). With such a large percentage of inmates being released
to the streets, it is no wonder that rates of recidivism are so high.
Marylanders need to push for the Second Chance Act to apply to housing, and not solely to
employment opportunities.
Who is impacted?
After a three to five year waiting period, the Maryland Second Chance Act shields conviction records
of individuals with nonviolent misdemeanors. The crimes that are shielded as written in the bill are as

(2) DISTURBING THE PEACE
(3) FAILURE TO OBEY A REASONABLE AND LAWFUL ORDER
(4) MALICIOUS DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY IN THE LESSER DEGREE [under $500

Listeria Monocytogenes Essay examples
Listeria monocytogenes can cause a food borne illness called Listeriosis. (Murano 2003) This
bacterium can be found in soil and water. (Murano 2003) Unlike many other germs, it can grow in
cold temperatures such as the refrigerator. Listeria monocytogenes can be killed by pasteurization and

Some foods that are typically contaminate by Listeria monocytogenes are a variety of raw foods,

Produce in San Antonio to stop processing food and recalls all of its products that were shipped from

celery from the plant indicated the presence of Listeria monocytogenes. There were 6 cases of
Listeriosis that were linked to chopped celery from the Sangar plant from the investigation. (Williams

underlying health problems. The investigations also concluded that the plant had a sanitation problem.
The order prohibits the plant from reopening without the Department s approval. This outbreak

Listeriosis caused by Listeria monocytogenes is a controllable food borne illness but given that the
consumer is very cautious about what they eat and follow simple techniques to help prevent the onset

Analysis of Paul s Case by Willa Cather
Willa Cather s Paul s Case is a story about a young 16 year old man, Paul, who is motherless and

that that he doesn t get from his yellow wallpaper in his house and his detached, overpowering father
figure in his life. Paul doesn t have any interests in school and his only happiness is in working at
Carnegie Hall and dreams of one day living the luxurious life in New York City. Paul surrounds

able to escape and be with the rich and attractive people that come to the hall.
It was at the theatre and at Carnegie Hall that Paul really lived; the rest was but a sleep and forgetting.
The moment he inhaled the gassy, painty, dusty odour behind the scenes, he breathed like a prisoner
set free, and felt within him the possibility of doing or saying splendid, brilliant, poetic things. The
moment the cracked orchestra beat out the overture from Martha, or jerked at the serenade from
Rigoletto, all the stupid and ugly things slid from him, and his senses were deliciously, yet delicately
fired. (Cather 6)
Paul enjoys the aesthetics of Carnegie Hall with all the people and atmosphere. While listening to the
music he is able to leave his life behind and go off into another life and place that he dreams of. A
lifelong dream of Paul occurs when he makes the trip to New York City. The trip to New York City
gives Paul the opportunity to live the life he always dreamed of. After being forced to leave his job as

The Use Of Disguise In Wilkie Collins The Moonstone
As the search for the culprit of the moonstone continues, the story is resumed by Franklin Blake in
Wilkie Collins The Moonstone. Sargent Cuff calls for Mr. Blake and says, Mr. Blake! look at the man
s face. It is a face disguised and here s proof of it! (Collins 447). It is then revealed that It was Godfrey
Ablewhite, disguised as a dark sailor (Collins 448). It seems to be no surprise that it was he, a man
whose mercenary motives slowly revealed, was the culprit of the moonstone. Disguise, as it is used in
this setting, is connected effortlessly to its definition in the Oxford English Dictionary. The Oxford
English Dictionary defines disguise as: To alter the appearance of (anything) so as to mislead or
deceive as to it; to exhibit in a false light; to colour; to misrepresent (OED). Godfrey concealed his
true identity to deceive those around him and did in fact exhibit (himself) in a false light by posing as
a sailor and did also colour himself by posing in blackface. Veil, a synonym of disguise, appears
within the 1755 dictionary of Samuel Johnson and is defined as a cover to conceal the face; a disguise
(Johnson). Through this perspective, a disguise does not always carry a negative connotation, but in
this case, it was used as a means to deceive. Godfrey is not very clever. His intent to pose as a sailor
and direct the attention to the Indians by way of his complexion did not work as he was taller than any
of the Indians and his face was twice the breadth of any of their faces at least (Collins 434). By doing
so he directed the attention to himself. To be in disguise is also to conceal or cloak the real state or
character of (anything) by a counterfeit show or appearance (OED) or to change the guise, or dress
and personal appearance, of (anyone) so as to conceal identity; to conceal the identity of by dressing
as some one or in a particular garb (OED). Godfrey s disguise figuratively and literally concealed (his)
real character. As Sergeant cuff took forcible possession of the dead man s black hair and washed off
his complexion, Godfrey s literal disguise was revealed. Figuratively, he was revealed as a fraud for
having led a double life (Collins 447). He was

It makes you think about the events, the main character and what they say and in deeper context, what
it means in reality. The author uses irony to make their audience stop and think about what has just

what is said and what is common or predictable is needed to the effective use of irony. The quote helps
reveal this idea. The Lottery Short story by Shirley Jackson 1. The Lottery demonstrates a community

The Elmira Knitting Mill made undershirts and underwear during World War II. They made a lot
military undershirts and underwear and actually received a commendation from the United States
Marine Corps, explains Dworkin.
According to Tom Witzel, the owner of Hesselsons, who currently owns the building, says after the
knitting mill went out of business in the 1960 s it was home to Burruss Storage company. Prior to
Hesselsons s owning it, it had been a moving and storage company that went out of business in 92 so
it sat vacant for a few years. Every year different towns and municipalities would place it up for
auction so Tom Hesselson actually bought it, says Witzel.
For the past twenty years Hesselsons has been using the warehouse to store inventory. Fortunately, just
a few weeks ago Hesselsons moved a majority of its stuff into a new warehouse closer to their
business. So a lot of the stuff had been moved out which is obviously good for us. If this had
happened a month ago, who knows what would have happened. We had still had some hot tub and
pool stuff over there, a lot of shelving and racking and hot tub parts over there and some generators,

Information Security and Risk Management
As a growing majority of middle class families fall victim to the economic devastation of the Great
Recession, suffering from prolonged unemployment, depleted job markets and a rising cost of living,
the threat of potential terrorist attacks striking America and its interests seems to have faded into the
proverbial background of our collective consciousness. With a transfer of power from the hawkish
Bush Administration to President Obama and his more diplomatic approach, major media outlets in
print, on television and in the blogosphere, which just a few years ago regaled with patriotic fervor
while espousing the possible peril awaiting the nation, have all but abandoned their coverage of
terrorist activity. This reversal in focus by both individuals and institutions may simply be a natural
response to the reduced capabilities of al Qaeda and other terrorist networks, as confirmed by the
leading authority on terrorism and its effects, and national security analyst for the CNN network, Peter
Bergen, who observed recently that the Obama administration has played a large role in reducing
terrorist threats by continuing and scaling up many of former President George W. Bush s counter
terrorist methods (Bennetch 1). Despite the substantial progress made in the last two years to
decapitate and destroy al Qaeda and its offshoot terrorist organizations, which includes the successful
capture and killing of Osama Bin Laden, lethal drone strikes on senior lieutenants Anwar

Ethical Concerns Of Stem Cell Research
Steven Weinberg, a famous theoretical physicist, once said, It does not help that some politicians and
journalists assume the public is interested only in those aspects of science that promise immediate
practical applications to technology or medicine (Doc, 2016). Though this refers to many, if not all,
fields of science when there are new technological advances, there is one in particular that falls under
this assumption. There are two basic fields within stem cell research and the one under the most
scrutiny is embryonic stem cell research. To be able to use their stem cells without killing them has
not been developed yet, so many articles on ethical concerns of stem cell research are focused on this
specific topic. Many areas of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As a result of their abilities, stem cells have the potential to develop into many separate cell types in
the body during early life. In addition, many tissues they serve as a sort of internal repair system,
dividing practically without limit to replenish other cells as long as the organism is still alive (NIH,
2015). When a stem cell divides, each new cell has the potential to remain a stem cell or become
another type of cell with a function that is permanent.
Until recently, scientists primarily worked with two kinds of stem cells from animals and humans:
embryonic stem cells and non embryonic somatic or adult stem cells (NIH, 2015). The detailed study
of the biology of mouse stem cells led to the discovery of a method to derive stem cells from human
embryos and grow the cells in the laboratory (NIH, 2015). These are the human embryonic stem cells.
In 2006, another breakthrough was made by identifying conditions that would allow some specialized
adult cells to be reprogrammed to acquire a stem cell like state, called induced pluripotent stem cells
(iPSCs) (NIH, 2015).
Though they are thought to be limited in their capabilities, adult stem cells, and tissues derived from
them, are believed to less likely to reject after transplantation. This is because a patient s own cells
could be coaxed into assuming a specific cell type (differentiation), and then reintroduced into the
patient (NIH, 2015). This represents a significant advantage, as immune rejection can

Vegan Cinderella Analysis
Vegan Cinderella
Description
In the Netflix original, Easy. Entitled Vegan Cinderella by Joe Swanberg, we see an honest and
visceral depiction of modern young love. There are moments in our relationships when we lie to our
significant others, maybe even change a little bit of ourselves for them. In this episode, we see a cast
of mostly young twenty something year old lesbian females and follow the two main characters
through the first few days of a budding romance. We hear many awkward conversations between the
two women about veganism and there is a great sense of realism within the story and the characters.
You feel like these women could be any one of your friends, almost as if you are also there with the
characters. I think everyone at some point in their life has tried to change themselves because they
thought it is necessary in order for the other person to like them. In this episode, we see Chase try to
impress Jo by changing who she is in order to impress her which is something we all can relate to. Joe
Swanberg is known for his indie films and shooting on 16mm and 35mm film. He also does not write
scripts but writes a one page outline where he has the characters use improvisation to fill in the blanks.
He focuses on naturalism and has little use for doing more than one or two takes. His on set brevity
allows for his films to be shot over the course of just a few weeks which helps to keep production
costs down (Zakarin). The style or genre of this film is

An Example Of Manna Walking Rhetorical Analysis
12/06/2015 Manna Walking Summative Part A Using my prior knowledge and details inferred from
the short story, Manna Walking by Dawn Karima Pettigrew, I am able to tell what Food Stamps, A P
and Navajo are. Furthermore by using examples in the text given by the author, I am able to identify
three examples of strong writing in the text such as the concrete and selective language the purpose of
the text, and the voice created by the author. Firstly from my prior knowledge I know that Food
Stamps are a system of aid used in the United States of America for families that require benefits as a
method of surviving hard times. From the cashier s reaction in the story of she sneers as Manna pays
her with many coloured food stamps , I am able ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She uses her vocabulary and word choice very efficiently that presents an image to the reader from the
very first line. She describes the cashier as the kind of blonde poured out of a bottle. This immediately
conjures an image of a classic teenage girl brimming with insecurity that has to judge others and dye
her hair to hide her flaws. This shows an interesting contrast as the one that is being viewed as inferior
in this situation is Manna yet she is the one that is the most comfortable with who she is. A second
example of concrete and selective language is the inclusion of small details that helps to draw a
picture for the reader. For example when Manna is leaving the grocery store parking lot, she walks
away from the burned out ampersand on the neon supermarket sign, and the sale on sprinklers and the
almost genuine Navajo ashtrays. By including these details, the reader is taken into the story in their
mind and it helps them to empathise with her situation. It is only if you are actually in a place that you
are able to identify small details; the author including them into the story really helps to paint an
image in the reader s mind. For example without the inclusion of such small details, then the reader
would never be able to accurately imagine the location or Manna s situation, something I believe the
author is trying to achieve with this

An Investigation Of Verbal Communication
1. Introduction There are numerous routes in which a specific methodology in the sociologies can be
presented and clarified. One of these is through explicative contrast from fairly comparable
methodologies. The expression Conversation Analysis is at this point solidly settled as the name for a
specific worldview in the investigation of verbal communication that was started in the 1960s by
Harvey Sacks, as a team with Emanuel Schegloff and Gail Jefferson. In Conversation Analysis the
attention is on the procedural examination of talk in cooperation, how members deliberately sort out
their connections to take care of a scope of authoritative issues, for example, the dispersion of turns at
talking, the community oriented creation of specific activities, or issues of comprehension. The
investigation is constantly in view of sound or visual recordings of collaboration, which are precisely
interpreted in subtle elements. The exploration ought to be data driven, as in ideas and speculations
ought to be founded on watchful thoughts of the information, recordings and transcripts, as opposed to
drawn from hypothetical assumptions or ideological inclinations. While initially imagined from a
sociological point of view, Conversation Analysis picked up a far reaching gathering in numerous
parts of the world by scientists from a scope of disciplinary foundations, including: brain science,
human sciences, correspondence ponders and an assortment of phonetic sub disciplines. As a

Aqueducts Of The Roman Aqueducts
For thousands of years, the Aqueducts of Rome have inspired and changed the ways we look at water
supply and usage today. The Romans used their engineering and building skills to improve the
standard of life of the people of Rome, Revolutionising water collection and usage. By investigating
the aqueducts of Rome and presenting evidence and information about how and why they were built,
this report will question whether aqueducts were better built than today s bridges.
The word aqueduct is Latin and comes from aqua and ducere meaning to lead water . The Roman
aqueducts were a network of channels and pipes built above and below ground with a purpose to carry
water across expanses of land. The concept of the Roman aqueducts is simple ... Show more content

Access points were also built along the path of the aqueduct to regulate the water supply and clear
debris. As the aqueducts approached Rome, the water was emptied into 3 holding tanks castella (see
fig.3). Each holding tank pumped water for a specific purpose such as for public baths, drinking
fountains or piping water to the rich. None of the water that the aqueducts used was wasted as the left
over water was used to flush out sewerage systems, power machinery and for agricultural purposes.
The senator Sextus Julius Frontinus from the 1st century AD explained in detail how the aqueducts
worked. A quote from his book states the different uses of a Roman aqueduct: The supply which
suffices not only for public and private uses and purposes but also for the satisfaction of luxury. The
use of water for many different purposes was unique at the time and ensured that little was wasted.
Every Roman by the 2nd century AD had free access to public baths and running water, which greatly
improved Rome s standard of living at the time. Private access to water was also common with a cost
occurring to pipe water to houses and buildings. Sometimes water was tapped unknowingly or pipes
were unlawfully connected to the aqueducts or widened. Some privately operated aqueducts were also
used and pumped water directly to buildings.
The aqueducts are mostly identified today by the

The Safety Of The Space Race
On August 2, 1955, the Space Race, the race for spaceflight supremacy, began, with two countries
going head to head, United States of America and the Soviet Union. The front row seat to the most
thrilling show on Earth. From the day the Space Race commenced, to present day, safety has always
been a fragile subject. Believe it or not, the safety of humans was not always the objective. These next
events altered the concept of safety within the Space Shuttle era.
On January 28, 1986, the Space Shuttle Challenger was rolled out to Kennedy Space Center s Pad
39A, for what would end up being its final launch. At T minus 5 seconds, the solid rocket boosters
ignited, propelling the nearly 134 ton vertical flight vehicle into geocentric orbit. However, at T plus
73 seconds, Challenger experienced catastrophic structural failure which resulted in the loss of both
the Shuttle and the seven crew members onboard. Among those seven crew members was Christa
McAuliffe, an American teacher from Concord, New Hampshire. McAuliffe was slated to be the first
teacher in space, as well as the first teacher to teach not one, but two lessons from space.
Unfortunately, had NASA not ignored the many warnings from their contractor s flight engineers
declaring the solid rocket boosters unfit to fly in such a cold temperature, the astronauts aboard the
Challenger would still be with us today. Furthermore, if Challenger, or any Shuttle for that matter, had
been built with an emergency evacuation

Why Is Thurgood Marshall Significant
What was the short term significance of Thurgood Marshall in 1947 1967?
Thurgood Marshall was significant as he was the first African American to be appointed a position in
the U.S Supreme Court, in 1967. His significance to civil rights is evident between 1947 and 1967, in
one contemporary newspaper he was even referred to as Mr Civil Rights . In 1947 1961 Thurgood
worked as the NAACP s lawyer, where he argued his most famous cases Brown v Topeka (1954) and
Browder v Gayle (1956). Furthermore, the appointments by both, President John F. Kennedy and
President Johnson, are significant in themselves because he was the first African American to be
appointed to the Supreme Court. Despite his influence on the civil rights movement, Thurgood took a
lot of criticism which effected his attitudes towards other people involved with the civil rights
movement and, in general.
Thurgood Marshall s position in the Supreme Court as the NAACP s lawyer is extremely significant.
The segregation within school systems following the separate but equal legislation passed by the
court, Plessy v Ferguson case, was something he continuously challenged. In 1934 he first represented
the NAACP as their lawyer in the court case of Murray v Pearson, following this he was successful in
winning 29 of 32 civil rights cases against the Supreme Court in 1950s. The most famous cases he
argued were Browder v Gayle (1956) and Brown v Board of Education (1954), in these cases he was

The Quality Of A Hotel Restaurant
1. Goals/Objectives for the negotiation
The main objective of this negotiation is to protect the reputation of the Statler Hotel, often the quality
of a Hotel s restaurant is judged by the quality of the coffee served, we need to successfully go
through the negotiation to increase the perceived quality of the Hotel.
In order to be able to serve a quality coffee, we need to get a good price per pound, the Hotel is
currently under close scrutiny of its costs and even though we re really interested on Anderson s
coffee, we can t pay any price, we need a competitive price (at least under $7.40 per pound) to justify
the higher expense.
Other objectives include getting deliveries at least every two weeks, secure the price for a specific
time and negotiate the quantity we would order and the repair on the coffee machines.
I am also very interested in impressing my boss, I ve been in this position for only 6 months. I believe
that if I can get Anderson to sell us the coffee at a price that would allow us to remain cost effective,
he will be very pleased and impressed with my performance, as I will have helped improve the quality
of the Hotel, which is his main interest in this negotiation.
Finally, my goal was to get a good bonus, I have been offer $50 for every penny I save the Hotel, so I
have a money incentive that will allow me to get more personally involved in the negotiation, as I
have a personal incentive to get the price as low as I can get it.

Anticipatory Grief
Empirical referents are cases or categories of actual observable phenomena that are measurable
(Walker Avant, 1995). The empirical referents of anticipatory grief were determined from the refining
of the characteristics of it through reviewing model and additional cases above. The empirical
referents of anticipatory grief are: i) having perception and acknowledgement, ii) the timing is prior to
their own or others loss or death, iii) having grief symptom clusters, and iv) its intensity depending on
grief work or the closeness to the person or the thing.

The first study is one psychology professor s autobiographical case (Comerchero, 2014). The timing
of anticipatory grief can even be after the loss from a different view in this study. The author argued
that anticipatory grief can occur while currently experiencing the death of her loved one, which is
distinguished from the definition of anticipatory grief in nursing discipline. Even after the loss,
individuals coping process can be present in anticipatory grief based on the model of Elisabeth Kübler
Ross (1969). The second study described the distinct pattern of experiencing anticipatory grief
associated with substance use (Templeton et al., 2016). Some people questioned their grief because
they felt that they do not have the right to grieve and tend to devalue these deaths. The lack of
knowledge and understanding about substance use and stigma can provide families with different
perceptions towards anticipatory grief. The family expressed denial towards grief and addressed that
they do not need to feel grief. This denial and not having grief are distinct properties compared to one

they will do good service. After he got the approval he did start doing good, and it was his army that
killed Philip and brought the war to an end. Church and his army received the preeminent trophy by
[Philips] head was brought into Plymouth in great triumph, (Philbrick 338). The church record says
Philip had been slain two or three days before, so that in the day of our praises our eyes saw the
salvation of God. (Philbrick 338). This quote proves that bringing Philips head into Plymouth meant
that the war was won and over, all because of Church s army. Church could also notice things when no
one else could, he was meeting with the Awashonks because he wanted them as allies in his army.
when they were drinking rum to the sachems health. Church could tell by the way the sachem watched

calabash, Church poured some rum into his palm, slurped it down, and raising up the guard, took yet
another good swig, (Philbrick 314). Church noticing and how quick he was to act on it was very good.

Analyzing Ranc s Vertumnus
The painting by Jean Ranc titled Vertumnus and Pomona shows an encounter of Vertumnus and
Pomona, two characters of Roman mythology. Both Vertumnus and Pomona themselves are references
to antiquity. The basket of fruit that Pomona rests her arm on is a reference to herself as the Roman
goddess of fruit. Although this painting has a Roman mythology basis, it also has ties to contemporary
aspects that a viewer in the 18th century could relate to. Pomona and Vertumnus are painted in a
modern garden or outdoor setting. This painting taking place outdoors is similar to other fête galantes
paintings that were popular during that time in the 18th century. For example, numerous paintings by
the artist Jean Antoine Watteau showed people enjoying themselves in an outdoor setting. ... Show

These characters from Roman mythology are depicted in outfits that were common in the 18th
century. Pomona is holding a dainty sun umbrella and is wearing a fancy pink dress while Vertumnus
is draped in fabrics that you can presume would be worn by an elderly woman in the 18th century. In
addition to that, these characters have modern hairstyles with hair accessories and are painted with
rosy cheeks to make it look like they are wearing makeup which is something that would appeal to the
18th century viewer. Vertumnus and Pomona are painted to look like the typical upper class person in
the gardens living in the 18th century instead of ethereal gods and goddesses. All of these elements
come together to create this painting that is based upon Roman mythology but also has modern

technology centered ventures, having fifteen years of past experience in fields such as biotech,

The combined reduction of the costs regarding water, which is about 80% reused, wastewater
surcharges and lower energy costs (Boston CityBizList, 2015) can mean an economy of up to $2 per
barrel produced (CBS News, 2011). Considering that the most likely targets are medium sized
breweries, as the largest ones have their own systems, this reduction is very significant. This is not
counting the significant environmental gains.
MAGIC HAT
The first successfully implanted plant was in Burlington to consume the waste from the Magic Hat
brewery. The land, owned by Magic Hat, was leased for only $1. This plant will be able to generate up
to 2 billion BTU (Noblet, 2010), can store up to 460,000 gallons of waste and generate 100 cubic feet
of gas per minute (Boston CityBizList, 2015).

Postschool Tutoring Experience
My experiences with an afterschool tutoring program offered me the opportunity for me to implement
theories and concepts in a real world situation. One experience stands out from the rest, due to the
progress I made developing resiliency in the child by using Deci and Ryan s, Self Determination
Theory. One Monday, a student needed my assistance understanding a new concept that he had
learned in math class. I began the session by asking to see Andy s notes from class. As we progressed
through the notes, Andy began to grasp a better understanding of the material. He then successfully
completed three of the four assigned math problems with little to no help from myself. But it was the
fourth and final problem that gave him a hard time, after ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Thus, I wanted to create an open and friendly atmosphere when interacting with Andy. For example, I
would always start the conversation by asking him how was his day and I would tell him about my
day. Also, I would make it a point to always ask if he needed any help studying for a test or if he
needed my assistance on any projects. I invited him on occasion, when it seemed that he was lonely, to
play ping pong. I feel the most confident in my application of relatedness. Andy began to have
conversations with me, most of them involving his schooling in some compacity. I can accurately
assert that Andy is my

is either more student centred or more teacher centred. Justify your answers. Group work more student

group decision making. The teacher intervenes little. Closed ended teacher questioning more teacher

information already given or controlling a conversation. Individual work more student centred: the

Using this way of errors correction students usually realize that their teacher is not the only source of
correction and they can learn a lot from one another. The author of the book `Error Analysis and
Interlanguage` S.P.Corder states that when a learner has made an error, the most efficient way to teach
him the correct form is not by simply giving it to him, but by letting him discover it and test different
hypotheses. Mistakes are OK, everyone makes them. The role of the teacher is not only to correct the
mistakes but also prevent them. But how to correct mistakes? There are several ways of error
correction. 1. Students are writing a paragraph about a holiday in ones or twos. We know very well
that a paper that is returned with red markings all over is quite discouraging for the student. The most
important aspect while giving feedback is adopting a positive attitude to student writing. Feedback
sessions must be a beneficial experience for the student if the teacher shows the strong points as well.
If the teacher tries to make comments and corrections on the final version of the student paper, the
teacher would be exhausted and the student would be discouraged. One alternative can be giving
feedback through the process of writing. That is, while the student is planning and organizing his
ideas, the teacher can comment on the unity and coherence of ideas. Or while the student is writing his
draft, the teacher can proofread for word order,

Yup In Jail
Many people have things that mean a lot to them and would hurt if they were ever to lose that
something. Well what I hold dear to me is just two pieces of paper. Yup, just paper. I know what you re
thinking how can paper mean so much to me. Well it isn t the paper itself that makes it so special it s
what s on it. Those pieces of paper contain words and a drawing that my father did for me when he
was in jail. He still is in fact in jail so that s why it means so much. Me and my father are rather close
so when I heard that he was in jail it hurt. So when the letter got in the mail you bet I got excited. I
didn t exactly know how to read it when I first opened it. I know how can i not be able to read it, well
the reason for that is because it was in Spanish and I don t really know how to read it. So instead I got
my mom to read it to me. He wrote about how he was doing and how it was being in there. I really
liked reading it because it let me know he was doing okay. Now the letter itself was written on a blank

Maybe it s because it was from my dad and I don t want anything to happen to it. Or maybe it s
because I just want to keep it to myself. Either way I don t think I would want to share it with anyone.
It s something that I would consider private. And I know most people don t really have anything that
they consider valuable, but I do. And that just happens to be this letter and drawing. Maybe that s why
these two pieces of paper are so important to me. Not just because they were given to me from my
dad, even if it is one of the reasons. I think it s because it s the only thing that I have that belonged to
my dad.And knowing that i won t see him for a long time and that he s so far away from me right now
I guess it s something that can keep me close to him. I know it sounds stupid and maybe it even is. But
to me it isn t and I still think this is something i would hate to lose or get rid

  • 2. Advancements And Advancements Of Technology Matthew Kivlahan Ms. Maynard ENG 3U1 Friday, October 3, 2014 Positive Developments in Technology Advancements and innovations in all fields are necessary if humanity wishes to create a brighter and better future. Technology that has been created and improved throughout the recent decades is proof of this philosophy. Medical innovations, such as the MRI machine and advanced disease treatments, have helped to reduce deaths over the last half century. With new diseases and complications arising frequently, keeping up with the times becomes a vital matter and recent inventions have made sure that lives are preserved rather than destroyed. Another area of interest is the internet, which allows people to access a wealth of information and communicate with others from around the world. Computers, satellites, and other tech are related to this subject, and all components combine to form a network that offers our world a collective database an notion that would have seemed outrageous more than 50 years ago. • 4. The Main Forces That Transitioned Europe Toward Modernity Ngo Humanities 4314 Midterm: October 12, 2014 Isser Woloch suggests that the key forces that transitioned Europe toward modernity are associated with four different developments which coincided with and reinforced each other in final decades of the eighteenth century: (1) rising population; (2) increased agricultural productivity; (3) a vast increase in commerce, particularly in the exploitation of their colonies by Britain and France; and (4) the expansion of textile manufacturing and the beginnings of its structural transformation in England (113). Population Growth Prior to the Europe s sustained growth, Europe struggled as far as keeping growth steady flowing; with that being said, as growth of population would reach its exponential, the population would shortly reach a downfall. The result of contagious diseases, crop failure, and the aftermath of war such as the Thirty Years War had altogether been the cause of a depopulated community. The fluctuation of population may be seen when one looks at the sixteenth century and the seventeenth century; for example, sixteenth century Europe had a rise in population while seventeenth century Europe suffered a significant decline in numbers for population. Europe s population suffered a downfall when the prices of grain and flour had risen following the law of supply and demand; facing the wraths of high prices and short supply, people would soon become undernourished and starving, possibly trying to fend off hunger by ... Efficient Market Hypothesis an The quote shows a strong relation to the efficient market hypothesis (EMH), as it implies that the costs of capital are dependent from the amount of information given by the company. According to my opinion, agency theory is a good explanation for costs of capital. Agency theory defines contracts as under which one party #8211; called principal #8211; engages another party #8211; called the agent #8211; to perform service on the principal #8217;s behalf. This leads into either one standard for accounting procedures or different standards with firms obliged to mention which standard they have chosen. In the past, business fought constantly against the uniformation of standards and the problem of the latter suggestion is that it needs skilled users to evaluate the impact of the different standards on the financial statement. As only a limited group will be able to do this, the number of possible financers is reduced. Capital could become more expensive since in free market systems a broader supply of capital should result into lower prices for capital and the reverse effect is true. Further, accounting has difficulties to clearly measure performance and the value of assets. Therefore, many different methods exist as historical cost, present value, current replacement costs, net realisable value, and deprival value accounting and all are reasonable in their approaches. Trust of the public means more trust in managements #8217; behaviour. This is reflected in less monitoring and reduced bonding costs. The former reduction is obvious and with good experience in more trustworthy relationships the monitoring mechanisms should decrease. • 20. The Use Of Disguise In Wilkie Collins The Moonstone As the search for the culprit of the moonstone continues, the story is resumed by Franklin Blake in Wilkie Collins The Moonstone. Sargent Cuff calls for Mr. Blake and says, Mr. Blake! look at the man s face. It is a face disguised and here s proof of it! (Collins 447). It is then revealed that It was Godfrey Ablewhite, disguised as a dark sailor (Collins 448). It seems to be no surprise that it was he, a man whose mercenary motives slowly revealed, was the culprit of the moonstone. Disguise, as it is used in this setting, is connected effortlessly to its definition in the Oxford English Dictionary. The Oxford English Dictionary defines disguise as: To alter the appearance of (anything) so as to mislead or deceive as to it; to exhibit in a false light; to colour; to misrepresent (OED). Godfrey concealed his true identity to deceive those around him and did in fact exhibit (himself) in a false light by posing as a sailor and did also colour himself by posing in blackface. Veil, a synonym of disguise, appears within the 1755 dictionary of Samuel Johnson and is defined as a cover to conceal the face; a disguise (Johnson). Through this perspective, a disguise does not always carry a negative connotation, but in this case, it was used as a means to deceive. Godfrey is not very clever. His intent to pose as a sailor and direct the attention to the Indians by way of his complexion did not work as he was taller than any of the Indians and his face was twice the breadth of any of their faces at least (Collins 434). By doing so he directed the attention to himself. To be in disguise is also to conceal or cloak the real state or character of (anything) by a counterfeit show or appearance (OED) or to change the guise, or dress and personal appearance, of (anyone) so as to conceal identity; to conceal the identity of by dressing as some one or in a particular garb (OED). Godfrey s disguise figuratively and literally concealed (his) real character. Mr. Summers, the conductor of the lottery, calls each family heads to receive a slip of paper. The family which is called comes on stage and pick another piece of paper, one for each member. The Hutchinsons are drawed and pulled on stage, each given a paper, including their 3 children and parents. Information Security and Risk Management As a growing majority of middle class families fall victim to the economic devastation of the Great Recession, suffering from prolonged unemployment, depleted job markets and a rising cost of living, the threat of potential terrorist attacks striking America and its interests seems to have faded into the proverbial background of our collective consciousness. With a transfer of power from the hawkish Bush Administration to President Obama and his more diplomatic approach, major media outlets in print, on television and in the blogosphere, which just a few years ago regaled with patriotic fervor while espousing the possible peril awaiting the nation, have all but abandoned their coverage of terrorist activity. This reversal in focus by both individuals and institutions may simply be a natural response to the reduced capabilities of al Qaeda and other terrorist networks, as confirmed by the leading authority on terrorism and its effects, and national security analyst for the CNN network, Peter Bergen, who observed recently that the Obama administration has played a large role in reducing terrorist threats by continuing and scaling up many of former President George W. Bush s counter terrorist methods (Bennetch 1). Ethical Concerns Of Stem Cell Research Steven Weinberg, a famous theoretical physicist, once said, It does not help that some politicians and journalists assume the public is interested only in those aspects of science that promise immediate practical applications to technology or medicine (Doc, 2016). Though this refers to many, if not all, fields of science when there are new technological advances, there is one in particular that falls under this assumption. There are two basic fields within stem cell research and the one under the most scrutiny is embryonic stem cell research. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As a result of their abilities, stem cells have the potential to develop into many separate cell types in the body during early life. In addition, many tissues they serve as a sort of internal repair system, dividing practically without limit to replenish other cells as long as the organism is still alive (NIH, 2015). When a stem cell divides, each new cell has the potential to remain a stem cell or become another type of cell with a function that is permanent. Until recently, scientists primarily worked with two kinds of stem cells from animals and humans: embryonic stem cells and non embryonic somatic or adult stem cells (NIH, 2015). The detailed study of the biology of mouse stem cells led to the discovery of a method to derive stem cells from human embryos and grow the cells in the laboratory (NIH, 2015). These are the human embryonic stem cells. In 2006, another breakthrough was made by identifying conditions that would allow some specialized adult cells to be reprogrammed to acquire a stem cell like state, called induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) (NIH, 2015). Though they are thought to be limited in their capabilities, adult stem cells, and tissues derived from them, are believed to less likely to reject after transplantation. This is because a patient s own cells could be coaxed into assuming a specific cell type (differentiation), and then reintroduced into the patient (NIH, 2015). There are moments in our relationships when we lie to our significant others, maybe even change a little bit of ourselves for them. In this episode, we see a cast of mostly young twenty something year old lesbian females and follow the two main characters through the first few days of a budding romance. We hear many awkward conversations between the two women about veganism and there is a great sense of realism within the story and the characters. You feel like these women could be any one of your friends, almost as if you are also there with the characters. I think everyone at some point in their life has tried to change themselves because they thought it is necessary in order for the other person to like them. In this episode, we see Chase try to impress Jo by changing who she is in order to impress her which is something we all can relate to. Joe Swanberg is known for his indie films and shooting on 16mm and 35mm film. Furthermore by using examples in the text given by the author, I am able to identify three examples of strong writing in the text such as the concrete and selective language the purpose of the text, and the voice created by the author. Firstly from my prior knowledge I know that Food Stamps are a system of aid used in the United States of America for families that require benefits as a method of surviving hard times. She uses her vocabulary and word choice very efficiently that presents an image to the reader from the very first line. She describes the cashier as the kind of blonde poured out of a bottle. This immediately conjures an image of a classic teenage girl brimming with insecurity that has to judge others and dye her hair to hide her flaws. This shows an interesting contrast as the one that is being viewed as inferior in this situation is Manna yet she is the one that is the most comfortable with who she is. A second example of concrete and selective language is the inclusion of small details that helps to draw a picture for the reader. For example when Manna is leaving the grocery store parking lot, she walks away from the burned out ampersand on the neon supermarket sign, and the sale on sprinklers and the almost genuine Navajo ashtrays. By including these details, the reader is taken into the story in their mind and it helps them to empathise with her situation. It is only if you are actually in a place that you are able to identify small details; the author including them into the story really helps to paint an image in the reader s mind. For example without the inclusion of such small details, then the reader would never be able to accurately imagine the location or Manna s situation, something I believe the author is trying to achieve with this ... The expression Conversation Analysis is at this point solidly settled as the name for a specific worldview in the investigation of verbal communication that was started in the 1960s by Harvey Sacks, as a team with Emanuel Schegloff and Gail Jefferson. In Conversation Analysis the attention is on the procedural examination of talk in cooperation, how members deliberately sort out their connections to take care of a scope of authoritative issues, for example, the dispersion of turns at talking, the community oriented creation of specific activities, or issues of comprehension. The investigation is constantly in view of sound or visual recordings of collaboration, which are precisely interpreted in subtle elements. None of the water that the aqueducts used was wasted as the left over water was used to flush out sewerage systems, power machinery and for agricultural purposes. He meant that instead of worrying about how much money was being spent, but that the Plymouth officials should give him three hundred men of which a third of the men were Indians. He gives them six weeks and they will do good service. After he got the approval he did start doing good, and it was his army that killed Philip and brought the war to an end. Church and his army received the preeminent trophy by [Philips] head was brought into Plymouth in great triumph, (Philbrick 338). The church record says Philip had been slain two or three days before, so that in the day of our praises our eyes saw the salvation of God. (Philbrick 338). This quote proves that bringing Philips head into Plymouth meant that the war was won and over, all because of Church s army. • 43. Analyzing Ranc s Vertumnus The painting by Jean Ranc titled Vertumnus and Pomona shows an encounter of Vertumnus and Pomona, two characters of Roman mythology. Both Vertumnus and Pomona themselves are references to antiquity. The basket of fruit that Pomona rests her arm on is a reference to herself as the Roman goddess of fruit. Although this painting has a Roman mythology basis, it also has ties to contemporary aspects that a viewer in the 18th century could relate to. Pomona and Vertumnus are painted in a modern garden or outdoor setting. This painting taking place outdoors is similar to other fête galantes paintings that were popular during that time in the 18th century. For example, numerous paintings by the artist Jean Antoine Watteau showed people enjoying themselves in an outdoor setting. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... All of these elements come together to create this painting that is based upon Roman mythology but also has modern ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 45. Postschool Tutoring Experience My experiences with an afterschool tutoring program offered me the opportunity for me to implement theories and concepts in a real world situation. One experience stands out from the rest, due to the progress I made developing resiliency in the child by using Deci and Ryan s, Self Determination Theory. One Monday, a student needed my assistance understanding a new concept that he had learned in math class. I began the session by asking to see Andy s notes from class. As we progressed through the notes, Andy began to grasp a better understanding of the material. He then successfully completed three of the four assigned math problems with little to no help from myself. But it was the fourth and final problem that gave him a hard time, after ... I invited him on occasion, when it seemed that he was lonely, to play ping pong. I feel the most confident in my application of relatedness. Andy began to have conversations with me, most of them involving his schooling in some compacity. I can accurately assert that Andy is my ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 46. Classroom Management Assignment: Task 1 Look at Ur s list of patterns of interaction below. Decide whether each interaction is either more student centred or more teacher centred. Justify your answers. Group work more student centred: students work in small groups on tasks that entail interaction: conveying information, or group decision making. The teacher intervenes little. Individual work more student centred: the teacher gives a task or set of tasks, and students work on them independently; the teacher walks around monitoring ... Using this way of errors correction students usually realize that their teacher is not the only source of correction and they can learn a lot from one another. The author of the book `Error Analysis and Interlanguage` S.P.Corder states that when a learner has made an error, the most efficient way to teach him the correct form is not by simply giving it to him, but by letting him discover it and test different hypotheses. Mistakes are OK, everyone makes them. The role of the teacher is not only to correct the mistakes but also prevent them. But how to correct mistakes? There are several ways of error correction. 1. Students are writing a paragraph about a holiday in ones or twos. We know very well that a paper that is returned with red markings all over is quite discouraging for the student. The most important aspect while giving feedback is adopting a positive attitude to student writing. Feedback sessions must be a beneficial experience for the student if the teacher shows the strong points as well. If the teacher tries to make comments and corrections on the final version of the student paper, the teacher would be exhausted and the student would be discouraged. One alternative can be giving feedback through the process of writing. That is, while the student is planning and organizing his ideas, the teacher can comment on the unity and coherence of ideas. Or while the student is writing his draft, the teacher can proofread for word order, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I know what you re thinking how can paper mean so much to me. Well it isn t the paper itself that makes it so special it s what s on it. Those pieces of paper contain words and a drawing that my father did for me when he was in jail. He still is in fact in jail so that s why it means so much. Me and my father are rather close so when I heard that he was in jail it hurt. So when the letter got in the mail you bet I got excited. I didn t exactly know how to read it when I first opened it. I know how can i not be able to read it, well the reason for that is because it was in Spanish and I don t really know how to read it. So instead I got my mom to read it to me. He wrote about how he was doing and how it was being in there. I really liked reading it because it let me know he was doing okay. Now the letter itself was written on a blank ...
