Pearl Harbor Open Door Policy
Prior to the attack on Pearl Harbor by Japan, the war started in China in 1937. The war in China
was between China and Japan. Japan had marched into China and declaring an all out attack on
China specifically for their resources and supplies. Since Japan relied on international trade for
their resources, it was vital for Japan to establish themselves as a powerful nation in order to
receive the resources that they needed. However, their actions that they had done in China had
violated the open door policy that was enacted by the US for the purpose of equal trading
opportunities and business in China. Japan was in a state where they felt that they needed to take
control of China because their economy was declining. If Japan didn t take actions

Social Issues And Social Factors Of Hugo Boss AG
2.3 Social Factors
It is very important for Hugo Boss AG to manifest itself in changing tastes, purchasing behavior
and hanging priorities. Especially due to Globalization, society of every culture faces more or
less same issues in smaller time frames that it was before. Social changes are preceded by changes
over time in a society s cultural values.
Consumers need different trends and styles. They do not need and want to wear the same styles
every time. The lifestyle trend changes to an extent every time. The type of goods and services
demanded by the consumers is a consequence of their social positioning and their current attitudes
and beliefs.
New trend of Throw away society expands. People assume overconsumption being unnecessary and

However, it brings benefits as gives more opportunities for advertisement campaigns that are not
demanding but cost effective. Through social media the company can get to know its customers
better.
At the same time, due to cultural differences, Hugo Boss AG should be very careful with
advertisements. What is acceptable in one country might not be in the other.
Talking about the image of the company, Hugo Boss AG was involved in the ethical conflict. After
the Second World War Hugo Ferdinand Bosswas punished for being a part of Nazi. He was
classified as an active supporter of Nazism, was fined 100,000 marks, and was stripped of the
right to vote and run a business. In 1999, the company finally agreed to contribute to a fund that
compensated former forced laborers. Though the conflict is solved it still has a bad impact on
company s image.
In September 2013, comedian Russell Brand was thrown out of GQ magazine s Men of the Year

The Themes Of Titus Andronicus And Antony And Cleopatra By...
Shakespeare s experiences in the social and political world influenced his writing and ideas, in
particular he created a parallelism between the Elizabethan Era he lived in and the ancient Roman
Empire. The Elizabethan Era was a period in which England was prospering as a country and
advancing in all aspects of its economy. This did not come without conflicts, in fact the differences
in morals and religious values caused tension among the state. At this time Shakespeare wrote two
of his Roman plays: Titus Andronicus and Antony and Cleopatra. The plays take place in Ancient
Rome, at a time where Eastern moral and political values were deemed superior to all others. Rome
is depicted as a strong military force in which the leaders are struggling to find peace. The Roman
culture in Antony and Cleopatra and Titus Andronicus was one of Western superiority and military
supremacy, leading to frequent internal conflicts and political distress among opponent empires.
The Roman inability to welcome opposing ideologies, lead to extreme instability and the inevitable
collapse of the empire. Shakespeare highlights that the same beliefs of superiority and invincibility
that brought Romans prosperity, will also bring them destruction.
Titus Andronicus is filled with violence and revengeful murders, this never ending cycle of
atrocities begins with the scarification of Tamora s eldest son. Tamora is queen of the Goths, and
she has been brought to Rome by Titus as captive. Romans refer to her

Abstract
This study examines effects that modern technology/media influence on students and family
dynamics. Most of us do not need the results of a nationwide report to recognize that media have
become an indispensable component and major influence in our everyday lives. A powerful tool,
that contemporary society uses not only to entertain but also to communicate and educate, there is
an ever present availability to media access. However, there is an ongoing debate over whether or
not the power of this influence and its ubiquitous availability yields positive or negative
consequences in different aspects of our lives.

Technology/Media Affecting Today s Youth
According to http://www.merriam webster.com the definition of technology is the use of science in
industry, engineering, etc., to invent useful things or to solve problems. Many aspects influence a
child s development in school and family, but technology grows deeper into children norms as it
revolves around society. Appearance of technology in and out of classrooms increased reliance on
tech, hindering children of this generation. Technology made its debut in the classroom all the way
in the Colonial years with Horn books, wooden paddles with printer lesson plans to assist students

How Is Harry Potter Related To Religion
The mind is not a book, to be opened at will and examined at leisure. Thoughts are not etched on
the inside of skulls, to be perused by an invader. The mind is a complex and many layered thing.
(Severus Snape, Book five.) The book series entitled Harry Potter has Biblical themes hidden
beneath all of the spells, charms, and enchantments. Harry Potter, in my own opinion, is very Christ
like and I feel like the book series could be looked at like a modernized version of the bible. He
resembles Jesus Christ in multiple ways. J.K Rowling has subtly featured religious symbolism in
her books such as, Harry dying for the wizarding world much like Jesus died willingly for our sins.
After they died, they were both resurrected. Fawkes, the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The presence of a phoenix reinforces the underlying theme of conquering death by embracing life,
just like Harry and Jesus did.
Harry and Jesus know a lot about Sacrifice and selflessness. All of the characters in the Harry
Potter series experiences sacrificial love. Hermione Granger, one of Harry s two sidekicks
throughout his school years, has to obliviate her parents minds because she doesn t want them
getting hurt. Her mother and father are both muggles, therefore Voldemort would find them and
murder them. Ronald Weasley, Harry s other sidekick, sacrifices himself in a game of Wizard s
Chess for Hermione and Harry in their first year at Hogwarts. Dobby the house elf, who has saved
Harry s life on many occasion, sacrificed his life to save Harry, Ron, Hermione, Luna Lovegood
and Mr. Olivander out of pure love and friendship. Harry s mother and father, Lily and James
Potter, sacrificed their selves for their only son just like Jesus Christ sacrificed his body for us and
he sacrificed his life on earth for us. Both Harry and Jesus did such a selfless thing for the people
they loved and cared for.
Every character from the bible resembles a person from the bible. Harry resembles Jesus because
he s the chosen one who died willingly for the people of the wizarding world. The D.A.

Identify And Evaluate Clearwater Technologies Existing...
1. Identify and evaluate Clearwater Technologies existing pricing on the QTX line. What are its
pricing objectives? With the introduction of the upgrade, should Clearwater reconsider its pricing
strategy?
The existing pricing:

According to table 1 and 2, because Clearwater is upgrading its products right now, they will design
the 30 seat server, so even the customer just want 10 seat or 20 seat, Clearwater will still ship them
the 30 seat server with just 10 or 20 seats usable. So in this case, the actual cost of the server will
all be 900 dollars.

2. The Sales Manager Brian James:
New 30 seat unit 17,250
Original 10 seat unit 8,000
Price for 20 seat unit 9,250
And the final new 20 seat unit price will be 14,000
For this pricing option, he didn t increase the original prices of both 30 seat and 10 seat. Instead,
he simply calculated the 20 seat price by using the difference between 30 seats and 10 seats.
In the positive aspect, this pricing strategy is actually fair enough for the current customers,
because he didn t change anything to the current price. Obviously this strategy will help Clearwater
to gain more customers loyalty, and probably they will get more orders.
But on the other hand, after all the company was changing the product system because they want
more profits, the pricing strategy provided by Rob was clearly ran in the opposite direction. I
think it s a little be less aggressive for the product manager to actually decrease their prices.
Fortunately the profit margin for the QTX is good enough, so they can still make remarkable profit
on it.
3. Hillary from Financial Department:
She suggested that they should be more aggressive and set the price at 15,000 or even 20,000 (I
think she means the price for 20 seat, I m a little bit confused here)
4. What should the final price be?
Due to the 3 department have to set a compromised pricing strategy, otherwise they will keep

The French Revolution of 1789 Essay
There is no doubt that the French Revolution has had a profound effect on the world. The cause or
causes of it have been greatly disputed. Clearly the Revolution s primary cause was the presence of
a weak monarchy and a lack of a stable system of government. France s absolute monarchy had
many changes toward the end of the eighteenth century. King Louis XVI, in his attempts to
consolidate his authority and lessen the power of the aristocrats, had planned out an intendant
system. The intendants were like governors. They would oversee one constituency of the country.
These intendants could not govern the region in which they lived, and were chosen from other than
the aristocracy. This insured that their allegiance was pledged to the king and... Show more content

There were three divisions or classes in France called estates. The first estate, which was
composed of church officials, had immense authority and obtained enormous salaries. Church
officials obtained their salaries via taxes collected from church property. Therefore, since the
officials received their salaries from the church property, they did not have to pay taxes. The
second estate was composed mainly of nobility. They, too, were exempt from paying taxes. This
left the entire tax burden upon the third estate. The third estate consisted of some merchants and
entrepreneurs; however, the majorities were peasants. Corruption of the estates was causing
much frustration among the common people who composed 70 percent of the population. The
monarchy tried to make an attempt to give the third estate power by establishing the Estate s
General, but this too was corrupted. Unlike most legislative bodies, the Estate s General did not
vote by each person having a single vote. Rather, they let each estate have one vote each. Since
the first two estates were always in agreement, the third estate was always out voted. This is a
prime example of how the lack of a stable government had an immensely tragic effect on the
people of the country. If the monarchy had tried to make some reform or if Louis XVI had more
backbone to institute some tax reform to lessen the burden on the third estate, the Revolution may
have been avoided. The government is the backbone of any

How would International Financial Reporting Standards affect the quality of Canadian accounting
information?
INTRODUCTION
Globalization has a great impact on today s economy. The differences of accounting regulations and
practices in various countries have become a noteworthy obstacle to globalization and economic
development. International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) mitigates global business barriers.
In order to adapt to the increasingly global business environment, public companies in Canada will
move to IFRS by 2011. This movement will have a significant influence on Canadian business such

1. COMPARABILITY
1.1 Definition of comparability
According to Canadian GAAP, the definition of comparability is Financial information measured
and reported in a similar manner among different companies. Comparability allows analysts to
identify real economic similarities and differences among companies, because those differences and
similarities are not obscured by changes in accounting methods or disclosure practices.
In September 2007, the IASB issued a revised IAS 1 Presentation of Financial Statements , in which
the definition of comparability was expanded to include consistency with regard of the definition
of Canadian GAAP. The definition of comparability in IAS 1 is Users need to be able to identify

Laocoön
Rarely is the modern student of classical literature (be they trapped in class, forced to stare at
their worn copy of the Aeneid, or nose deep in a freshly reprinted copy of the Iliad) privy to the
primal clashes depicted by Homer and Virgil alike. Modernity has triumphed in the wake of the
latter half of the twentieth century; today we view the struggles of peoples separated by vast
swathes of time and geography under a sanitized, clinical eye. Yet those who look upon the
Hellenistic work, Laocoön and his Sons, are yanked thousands of years into the past. The
sculpture places the viewer in a vicious, futile struggle against the will of the gods. A stunning
union of dynamism and torrid emotion, the Laocoön Group serves as a legacy to Grecian... Show

I feel that the public takes an aloof, sometimes derisive attitude towards the stories and peoples
of the past. To see a work so boldly depict the physicality and mentality behind the fear of death is
striking to me. No other modern medium can properly compare; television and movies are quick,
distracting, our suspension of disbelief is broken the moment we step up to grab popcorn. The
silver and miniature screen s scene of anguish is quietly ushered away to make way for something
else. The stone is permanent; the viewer may look away, but for many, including myself, the scene
is etched into my mind. Thus, the artist is successful the lesson is sown into the unconscious, the
themes may not be discussed, or pondered upon, but still they linger. It is my firm conviction that
an effective piece of artwork is stepped in a visual language that the unconscious understands,
registering the work with chills down the spine. So long as death plagues humanity, the Laocoön
sculpture, above all else, deserves to be preserved for as long as the material itself

Slavery In The New World
Slavery has occurred since the early civilizations of Africa in places such as Egypt and other
regions. With the forming of colonies in the New World, slaves from Africa were brought across
the Atlantic and these slaves lived a different life compared to their African counterparts. Slavery
in these two continents differed in how slaves were handled, who the slaves were, and how long
they were to be enslaved.
The slaves of Africa were people who owed debts, were prisoners of war, or committed a crime
(Franklin and Higginbotham 10). In comparison, European traders negotiated with African rulers to
obtain their slaves or initiated slave raids (Franklin and Higginbotham 28). In contrast to slaves in
the New World, in Africa, slaves were predominately... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The slaves of the New World had more restrictions on their freedoms due to the issuing of many
slave codes in each colony beginning in the 1660s (Franklin and Higginbotham 54). One
example is the restriction on marriage for slaves. In Africa, there was no restriction on marriages
or having a family while still a slave (Franklin and Higginbotham 10). However, in places like
New England slaves were allowed to marry but if their spouse was owned by a different master
they would have to live apart. There also instances where masters would not allow enslaved
parents to keep their children (Franklin and Higginbotham 58). Furthermore, the marriage
between slaves and masters was a forbidden. For example, Virginia issued a statue in 1691
prohibiting interracial marriage (Franklin and Higginbotham 57). Other such laws prohibiting
freedoms of slaves in the colonies were in 1680 issued by Virginia but laws similar to this were
issued in other colonies. It forbade slaves the freedoms of assembly and to bear arms (Franklin and

The Pleasure Of Eating By Wendell Berry Analysis
An essay can be determined as effective or ineffective by answering a few simple questions. If
an author achieves his purpose, appropriately relates to his specific audience, and has credibility
for what he is writing about, the essay is more than likely going to be effective. The essay being
critiqued is The Pleasure of Eating by Wendell Berry which was published in 1989. As a farmer,
the author wants his audience to recognize that there is more to eating than just eating. Those who
purchase food from grocery stores and restaurants are not only consumers, but eaters as well. Berry

Pope Pius XII and the Jews Essay
The twentieth century was marked by genocides on an monstrous scale. One of the most terrible
was the Holocaust wrought by Nazi Germany, which killed an estimated six million European Jews
and almost as many other victims.
During this dark time, the Catholic Church was shepherded by Pope Pius XII, who proved
himself an untiring foe of the Nazis, determined to save as many Jewish lives as he could. Yet
today Pius XII gets almost no credit for his actions before or during the war.

How Do Weapons Affect The World
There are various harmful and helpful discoveries all over the world. Though a number of these
were created to hurt instead of help, many people look to the invention before looking to the
mind of a human. For instance, drugs are used to cure people, while others treat them as an
addiction. Similarly, weapons are used either to kill or protect. Good people choose good, while
evil people make poor choices. Inventions overall improve our world; however, some people handle
them as a detriment.
The most frequently used, harmful, and dangerous weapon across the world is the Automatic
Rifle, which was created in 1887 by General Manuel Mondragon. These powerful weapons were
previously used in the military after generals discovered the horrific demolition it could cause.
Tracing all the way back to its descendants, the AK 47, the M16A1, and the M 14, these rifles are

Essay on Comparison between Jan van Eyck and Fra Angelico
The Renaissance in Western Europe brought a rebirth to the arts. No longer was the church the
only accredited patron for the arts. Instead, a wealthy middle class arose as patrons and were able
to purchase artist s works. Although many pieces still had religious themes, the styles, freedom of
creativity, and less reserved pieces were created. The Renaissance was not only confined to Italy,
although it is often mistaken as the birthplace of the movement. All over Western Europe artwork
flourished. Artists from the north came to Italy to study the classical arts and the renowned Italian
Renaissance artists. Many of the same themes and subject matters were depicted throughout
Western Europe. One such subject matter, the Annunciation, was... Show more content on

The Italians may not have had detailed frescos and vivid colors; however they were the leaders
in creating a harmonious scale between the landscape and the objects or figures that adorned it.
They developed a focused on perspective and made their art a science. They used mathematical
measurements and thus the piece was given a great deal of depth and realism. The fresco appears
to be an extended recessed space in the room. In Angelico s piece, linear perspective is created by
the placement and angles of the walls. The edge of the porch, the base of the first column and the
lines of the bench establish a linear perspective. Italian painters also focused on the studying of
classical art and architecture. In Angelico s piece, the arches supported by the stance of the ionic
columns show the interest and study that the Italians adapted into their work. The Northern
Renaissance painters eventually incorporated perspective in their work. Van Eyckused intuitive
perspective, making objects appear smaller and closer together as they are placed further in the
distance to create the feeling of depth in his piece.
Iconography is more prevalent in the Northern Renaissance artwork compared to the Italian
Renaissance artwork. Upon first glance, there are two distinct and obvious similarities between
the two works. The most noticeable is how Mary is wearing blue and is very similarly depicted.

Arleen Summary
The book Evicted makes Arleen and other mothers appear lazy because of their dependence on
welfare checks to be given to them. It s obvious that Arleen does depend on welfare checks,
however she s not unemployed like the book says. Taking care of children is a job in its own, so
the blame for single mothers dependency on welfare check lies with the loss or abandonment of the
father. Fathers who abandon their kids are the reason why we ve noticed the feminization of poverty
. With more and more moms being abandoned they must to pay an unfair amount of rent, food for

Virgin Island Vacation Research Paper
I am so excited to go to the Virgin Islands for vacation this year! Every summer, my family and I
go to a new place for vacation. This year it s the Virgin Islands! I was looking forward to going
since last month because I told my mom we should go somewhere tropical and warm, and that s
when we both thought of the idea to go to the Virgin Islands. The Virgin Islands is in St. John and
we are going to camp at cinnamon bay. My mom said cinnamon bay is one of the best beaches in
the world. We are leaving tomorrow, early in the morning.
When we got on the plane, I thoughtt of what we would do there? Would we go snorkeling, hiking,
camping, scuba diving, and swimming. Then I though of going camping! That s why my mom

My favorite animal was the birds because the bird was an Antillean Crested Hummingbird and I
love hummingbirds. I also like them because there feathers are usually blue, green, light, green,

School Structure And Family Influences
Education never really seemed to be priority in my hometown. Fresno, the 5th largest city in
California, is listed as the 8th least literate city in the US. I grew up in a part of town where less
than 75% of the residents age 25 and over received a high school diploma; less than 13% earned
a Bachelor s degree; and only 3% have a graduate or professional degree. It s surprising that I
even made it to graduate school after reading statistics like these. My objective is to reflect on my
school experience, and explore how culture, school structure and family influences contributed to
my successful completion of grades K 16, even when the odds were not in my favor.
I came from a working class family of six whose ethnicity was mixed my father, White and my
mother, Hispanic. My siblings and I all went to Slater Elementary School from Kindergarten to 6th
grade. The school was less than a mile from my home, and the community was made up mostly of
working and lower middle class families. The ethnic distribution of my neighborhood was 53.8%
Hispanic, 28.2% White, 9.3% Black, 5.5% Asian, and 2% mixed race. Coming from a mixed race
family had its own challenges. In addition to being a cultural outlier in the community, I was
always confused about who I was ethnically, and was forced to choose which one identified with
more (White or Hispanic) on standardized tests, or when participating with play groups.
My parents were both clerks at the local Post Office. My father was a Vietnam War

Canadian Tire Case Essay
Michael Eubanks of Canadian Tire Corporation (CTC) is in charge of the implementation of a
business intelligence (BI) system for the company. This implementation began in 2003 and was
to be completed in 2005. In 2006, the project is only in the 2nd of 3 phases. He is now faced
with a problem. The implementation is going much slower than he anticipated. His goal is to
implement BI as soon as possible, so what does he need to do so that he can reach this goal?
In order to reach his goal, there are many issues that need to be addressed. The first issue is that in
order to ensure that the data in the data warehouse is correct, there needs to be strong data
governance by all users. The 2nd concern is that users of the current systems will not ... Show more

He would anticipate any issues that could arise in along the process. He will then assign
business partners and specific resolutions to each potential issue so that if one of these problems
occurs, there is already a plan in place to resolve it. This is a more proactive approach to the BI
implementation. The only drawback here would be that there would need to be business partners
available to tackle these problems. They would need to be taken away from their day to day
responsibilities without any notice. This could result in business interruption, if a backup is not
assigned.
Another option is to decide which type of Master Data Management (MDM) initiative to use. They
can use the Analytical MDM, Operational MDM or Enterprise MDM. The Analytical option
addresses BI only. The Operational option addresses the business operations. Enterprise addresses
both. The Analytical option is the least intrusive and most straight forward to implement, whereas
the Enterprise option is very complex and time consuming.
I would recommend that CTC use the third option which is to decide on a type of MDM initiative
to use. Specifically, I would recommend the Analytical MDM approach. It seems to me that the
main focus of the implementation is Business Intelligence; as such the Analytical approach is the
most appropriate. It is the most commonly adopted approach and the most simple of the three.
Since their goal is to implement BI as soon as possible, they should use the

Peter Parker Character Analysis
The new saga to the already seemed endless sequels of the Spider man series is an acceptance
and relationship movie. A time in which Peter Parker s maturation involves him being able to
control his superpowers is connected to how he can control his own sense of self. The film s main
subject is clear and plain, a young superheros abuse of his powers in order to show off, become
popular, and most importantly, impress a girl in his high school. The hero attempts to overcome
obstacles that he has never faced on his own because of the low amount of trust that is given to
him. Not surprisingly, the hero learns better after almost costing many people s lives including
his own. An incredibly gifted and young Queens high school sophomore, Peter Parker (played by
Tom Holland) is still halfway between fantasy and childhood. He stills play legos with his best pal
Ned (Jacob Batalon) after school. Peter is still particularly challenged when having the choice to
use his superpowers in which he exploits profoundly. Peter intentionally exploits his powers against
the wishes of his mentor Tony Stark (Robert DowneyJr.) who believes that he is not ready for
them in order to hopefully be accepted by the Avengers and to win the heart of his senior love
Liz (Laura Harrier). Peter only wants to be accepted and when he is not he feels as if he has the
urge to prove himself to them. It comes as no surprise that the intelligent and amazing Tony Stark is
also the hero of this tale.

The Color Purple vs. The Joy Luck Club Essay example
The Color Purple is a biased, unbalanced view into the life of black women during the early to
mid nineteen hundreds. While it is obvious that a woman who in her own right is racist, chauvinist,

Rich is the second example of a weak male character in The Joy Luck Club, and his main flaw is
gross ignorance. His new live in girlfriend is Waverly. An entire section of the book is dedicated
to the first meeting between Rich and Waverly s mother and father. During the entire section, Rich

Finally the DB is running on its own database server. Differences: Client Server: cost (servers and
software can be expensive) server operating systems (a server and software work together; server
software is expensive; servers also add to the costs) implementation (sharing resources; network
cabling; servers kept in a secure room; central file management, central security administration; user
management and permissions, backup management) security and safety techniques to protect the
network from virus attacks, new products, and the use of new technologies (i.e., wireless
connections).
Client server networks work best for larger setups, such as a full scale office or school network
especially if the networks are likely to grow in size.
3 Tier Architecture: A 3 Tier usually puts something between the presentation and data store tire
such as a business logic tier.
3 Tier has a Middle part of stage to communicate with client to server, Where as in 2 Tier client

Conformity and Obedience Essays
Conformity and Obedience Why do we conform? Two basic sources of influence: normative
social influence, the need to be liked, accepted by others and Informational influence: need to be
correct and to behave in accordance with reality. Solomon Asch (1956) devised an experiment to
see if subjects would conform even if they were uncertain that the group norm was incorrect. In
his study he asked subjects to take part in an experiment. They were each asked to match a
standard length line with three other lines. He found that one of the situational factors of
conformity is the size of the opposing majority. In a series of studies he varied the number of
confederates that gave correct answers from 1 15. He found that subjects conformed... Show more

Moscovici found that consistency in the minority was important in winning over the majority
with respect to the colour of the slides. Not all decisions are made from a majority influence. For
example, the suffragettes started a movement in 1920 which changed the public and private
opinion allowing women to have the right to vote in western society. As long as a minority stick
by four basic rules then they stand a good chance of succeeding in their campaign. They need to
be Consistent in their views, Flexible not too rigid in their views, Committed to the cause until it
s heard and Relevant, they have more chance of being influential if their views are in line with
social trends. Another experiment that psychologists use in respect of conformity and obedience
is an experiment that was carried out by a psychologist named Stanley Milgram. He recruited 40
male participants by advertising for volunteers to take part in a study to see how punishment
affects learning. The study was to take place at Yale University and everyone would be paid the
same rate of $4.50 and they were informed that they would still get paid if they quit during the
study. There were two confederates one an experimenter and the other a learner. The participants
were always the teacher. The teacher was placed with the psychologist in one room and the learner

The final category is conflict of interest. A conflict of interest occurs when an employee has an
undisclosed economic benefit in a situation. For example, maybe the employee has a family
member who works for one of the companies bidding on a project. If the employee knows that the
family member will benefit and does not disclose the information to his superior than that is a
conflict of interest. To begin the review process there should be some knowledge of the processes
and procedures in the accounting department. It may be a good idea to observe all of the
procedures that go into creating the financial statements. Look for any weaknesses or questionable
practices and create a list of questions. Then in the next phase the auditor can conduct interviews to
get a better understanding of the accounting staff. Observations and interviews can set the
groundwork and provide information into any nuances or potential fraud or abuse. Any material

Compare And Contrast Aspirin And Acetaminophene
Aspirin and paracetamol, both used to treat pain. However, which one is actually better? Based
solely on its chemical properties, aspirin is a better medication when compared to paracetamol.
Before the first ever pain killers were discovered, willow bark was used an analgesic due to its
antipyretic nature. This later lead to the discovery of Aspirin. Acetanilide was the first derivative of
paracetamol to be found. However, it could not be used due to its harmful toxic effects. During the
1880s, two antipyretic agents were developed. These were; acetanilide (1886) and phenacetin
(1887). In 1877, Harmon Northrop Morse synthesised the first known acetaminophen (paracetamol).

It is still unsure how exactly Panadol works within the body. However, information is still
known about acetaminophen within the body. Paracetamol is metabolized in a hepatic manner.
Meaning in the liver. It is converted to inactive compounds in union with sulphuric and
glucuronic acid and absorbed into the blood stream. Subsequently, it is excreted from the
kidneys. Painkiller work by inhibiting the cyclooxygenase enzymes, COX 1 and COX 2 which
catalyse the formation of prostaglandins. Paracetamol works by blocking the COX 3 enzyme
which resides in the brain. However, paracetamols inhibiting capability is considered to be weak
as it cannot block the (COX) enzyme outside of the central nervous system. This results in
paracetamol not possessing anti inflammatory properties. Panadols antipyretic capabilities are
more efficient when compared to aspirin. Panadol has a bioavailability of 70 90% when taken
orally. Similar to paracetamol, aspirin works alike. However, Panadol relieves pain by targeting
the central nervous system (brain, spinal cord). Where aspirin targets the nerves that lead to the
central nervous system. Like paracetamol, aspirin blocks the cyclooxygenase enzymes however
aspirin only relieves pain where prostaglandins are being produced. Therefore, unlike paracetamol,
aspirin has anti inflammatory properties as well as reducing pain. Aspirin inhibits COX 2 enzymes

Stevenson s Use of Literary Techniques to Portray Evil in...
This essay will focus on how Robert Louis Stevenson presents the nature of evil through his
novel The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde . Using ideas such as duality, the technique
used to highlight the two different sides of a character or scene, allegories, an extended
metaphor which has an underlying moral significance, and hypocrisy; in this book the Victorians
being against all things evil but regularly taking part in frown able deeds that would not be
approved of in a respectable society. This links in with the idea of secrecy among people and also
that evil is present in everyone. The novel also has strong ties and is heavily influenced by religion.

This gives the impression that Hyde is a monster than comes out only when it is dark and
nobody can see him. Whatever he is, he cannot be called human. In Victorian England, if a
person looked ugly, criminal like or giving an impression of deformity they were considered to
be ugly and criminal like inside to. If you imagine a person reading this story when that was
what was thought, the description of Mr Hyde would instantly label him as the bad character.
During the story Hyde s actions compounds our first impressions of him. Stevenson never says
exactly what Hyde takes pleasure in on his nightly forays but it is thought to be of things that
would ruin Jekyll s reputation if they ever came out. There is thought to be strong ties to drugs,
alcohol addiction and other dangerous dealings; he had once visited her (the maid s) master and
for whom she had conceived a dislike . In the very first chapter, Mr Enfield tells his friend, Mr
Utterson, a story where he witnessed a strange looking man walking along a deserted street, who
trampled calmly over (a) child s body and left her screaming on the ground when they collided.
When Mr Utterson approaches Hyde in the street, Hyde shrinks back with a hissing intake . The
word hissing procures up the image in the mind of a snake, like the devil in the form of a serpent
in the bible. During the book there are many references and motifs to hell and evil; really like

Improving service quality to meet customers standards is an ongoing part of doing business. In this
way, customers drive the market and the organization. At the same time that organizations act to
attract and satisfy customers, the customers themselves exercise ultimate influence. Their
satisfaction depends on both their expectations and their treatment. Through their choices,
customers decide which organizations survive and thrive, determine what goods and services are
available, and shape how they are provided. In addition to using their purchasing power, informed
consumers can shape the marketplace by communicating their preferences and standards to
organizations that are poised to listen and respond.

For both service providers and consumers, making customer satisfaction a priority involves a
fundamental shift in thinking, organizing and acting. The customer satisfaction framework
proposed in this paper explores the potential of a customer satisfaction orientation as a means for
improving the goods and services, including those provided by the public sector, available to

Depiction of Etruscan and Roman Women in History
The Etruscan society allegedly migrated from Tuscany or Lydia. (Klien, 166) Much of what
scholars know regarding Etruscan society is based on funerary artwork. The Etruscans did not
keep any written records of their activity. What we know about Etruscan lifestyle is based on their
artwork left behind. Early on Etruscan society had a lot of contact with the Greeks that reflect in
much of the Etruscan works of art. The distinction in Etruscan art and Greek art is clearly seen
through the Etruscan representation of couples in art. The pieces in this collection will attempt to

Ten Rules Of Lean Production
Lean production is an assembly line methodology developed originally for Toyota and the
manufacturing of automobiles. It is also known as the Toyota Production System or just in time

There are two major pillars of lean production system. One is Just in Time system and other is
Kaizen. Just in Time System was developed as a result of adoption and adaptation of Mass
Production Techniques. Kaizen is a lean manufacturing tool that improves quality, productivity,
safety, and workplace culture. Kaizen focuses on applying small, daily changes that result in major

An Absolute Athenian Tragedy Analysis

the long and tiring story of the Peloponnesian War, it is the Sicilian Expedition in which leadership
stands as a vital factor in the end result. Besides the Athenians, Spartans did their job along side

You see, a huge factor rises in the end of this predicament. The advance of the Roman empire,
along with the fate of the Western World, were essentially saved by the destruction of the
Athenians at the island of Sicily. I firmly claim this because if the expedition were to result
positively for the Athenians, themselves and all of Greece would have landed on a a goldmine in
regards to fertile land which is Sicily. All of Italy and beyond would have been under the heel of
Greece and not of Rome. For the lands such as North Africa, Iberia, and Gaul conquered by the
Romans could potentially have been done by Greeks. The influential defeat at Syracuse ended the
great empire known as Greece and history was shifted for the ages. After that battle, the
Peloponnesian war would go on for another ten years. From that point forward, Greece was
mismanaged and misguided by many men who made attempt to lead. Allies across Greece
separated and the democracy in which this empire stood would crumble and fall victim to an
oligarchy. The Athenian expedition in Sicily exemplified Athens as a tyrant looking to crush the
allied thoughts that dared to stand against it. On a final note the expeditions greatest journalist,

Essay on The Evil Iago of Othello
Evil masterminds are always successful in their diabolical schemes, but each one does it in their
own special way. Some may be highly ranked and powerful, but some may be simple people in a
simple community. In the play Othello, the simple ancient, Iago is very successful at his schemes.
Iago is able to get the trust of everyone around him, and to appear honest. He is also driven to
continue with his schemes and to never quite.
From the first scene of the play to the last, Iago is able to be trusted by everyone. This is one of the
many reasons why Iago is so successful in his schemes, he is always trusted. In the first scene of
the play we learn that Iago is helping Roderigo, win the love of Desdemona. Roderigo is trusting
Iago with his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
You have told me she hath received them, and returned me expectations and comfort of sudden
respect and acquaintance; but I find none (IV, ii, 186 190). Roderigo started to see that Iago is
cheating on him, but Iago is smart enough, and Roderigo is dumb enough for Iago to confuse him.
In the second act during the party after the defeat over the Turks, Cassio becomes very drunk and
easily taken advantage of. He then runs into the room where everyone is and attacks Roderigo.
Montano intervenes and is then wounded by Cassio; Othello is forced to demote Cassio from his
position of Lieutenant. With Cassio devastated he asks for advice from Iago, he then informs
Cassio the only way to gain his position back is to talk to Desdemona. Cassio then leaves good
night, Honest Iago (II, iii, 306). Shakespeare put in those two extra words on purpose; he is
trying to show how Iago is already able to play with people s minds and how manipulative he
can be. Us, the audience knowing what Iago really wants to do, but Cassio puts trust into Iago
with his position and future. The last person to believe Iago is honest and to trust him is
Othello. Iago started to tell Othello of how Desdemona might be sleeping with Cassio, and how
she is cheating on him. Othello does not believe him as there is no proof, I ll see before I doubt;
when I doubt, prove; and on the proof there is no more but this (III, iii, 190 191). Othello knows

The Australian Consumer Law and Consumer Guarantees
The Australian Consumer Law (ACL) was established to protect consumers in any legal trading
activities in Australia. A set of guarantees has also been introduced for those consumers who are
acquiring goods and services from Australian suppliers, importers or manufacturers. The guarantees
are intended to ensure that consumers will receive the goods or services they have paid for. If they
have problems with the products and services they bought, they are entitled for remedies, such as
repair, replacement, and refund.
As regulations keep changing, it is important to note that consumer guarantees are only applicable
for goods and services purchased on or after 1st January 2011. The laws that applied before 1st
January 2011 might cover any ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Thus, the total price has to be clearly stated in the payment receipt (Australian Completion and
Consumers Commission, 2013)
How acceptable is the quality of products and services?
Consumers are guaranteed to receive products and services that do not provide any harm to them.
For products, the quality of products has to be acceptable, fit for the purposes, match with the
sample, description and demonstration. More importantly, the products and services have to be
matched and fit as what the staff said.
There was a case in 1936, according to Carvan, J (2010) Dr. Grant, the plaintiff, suffered dermatitis,
as a result of wearing woolen underpants which had been manufactured by the defendant
(Australian Knitting Mills Ltd). Later, there was defective element in the underpants that assumed

Personal Memory
Introduction Methodology Sections The purpose of the experiment was to find out if there are any
mnemonic consequences of posting personal memories online. During their study, the researchers,
(Wang, Lee, Hou), compared the memory retention of events that were posted on social media
versus those events which were not posted. The study consisted of 66 undergraduate students as
the participants, who were told to complete a daily diary for a week. Also, at the end of the day,
they were told to list all the unique events that had happened and also answer whether or not they
had posted the event onto social media. Moreover, they were asked to differentiate the events as
either pleasant or unpleasant, and further asked to rate the personal... Show more content on

On the contrary, emotional intensity alone, without any influence from online postings or personal
importance, had no significant effect on memory retention of the participants. Therefore, the
researchers concluded that the effect of emotional intensity on memory retention was heavily
influenced by the factors of personal importance and online status (Wang, Lee, Hou, 2016, p. 3).
Implications
The study implicated that there were two mnemonic advantages in sharing memories via social
media. The first advantage was that social media provides an easy avenue for people to retrieve
and share their personal memories with the public. Social media allows a person to share his/her
memories anywhere and at any time, without the need of having their friends physically present
with them to facilitate the retention of a memory. Moreover, memories that are more frequently
recalled and rehearsed in a social context are much more likely to be retained in the long term
retention of the events, to which posting events on social media helps facilitate the frequent
rehearsal of memory (Wang, Lee, Hou, 2016, pp. 3 4). Also, posting events on social media helps
further establish and make meaning of one s autobiological self in the technological age. The
autobiological self consists of a person s perception of their personality that is built from a
combination of memories,

Fight Or Flight Response Papers
Have you ever been in a situation where you either ran away or fought it off? If you have then
you have possibly experienced the fight or flight response. The fight or flight response can be
very beneficial to your survival, but in today s world it can also be very harmful to you.
Our fight or flight response originally protected us from saber tooth tigers (The Fight or Flight
Response, paragraph 7). Today, most threats that we encounter are not a threat to our survival.
People are mostly worried about being late to work or school, phone s running out of power or
even the gas running out in your car. Nonetheless, these modern day threats trigger the activation of
your fight or flight system as if your physical survival was threatened. On a ... Show more content

Remember that the natural conclusion of fight or flight is vigorous physical activity. When we
exercise, we metabolize excessive stress hormones restoring our body and mind to a calmer, more
relaxed state.
For the purpose of stress reduction and counteracting the fight or flight response, we do not need
to exercise for 30 to 40 minutes. Any form of activity where we work up a sweat for five minutes
will effectively metabolize off and prevent the excessive buildup of stress hormones. Get down and
do 50 pushups, 50 sit ups, jumping jacks, jump rope, run in place, run up and down the stairs,
whatever. By exercising to the point of sweating, we effectively counteract the ill effects of the fight
of flight response, drawing it to its natural conclusion.
Sometimes when I m upset, I close the door to my office, do 25 quick pushups, work up a light
sweat, and return to work, clearer and calmer. Frequent repetitions of short exercise are easy to fit
into our busy schedules. For full cardiovascular fitness, longer periods of exercise do have
additional benefits, but for the purpose of stress reduction, mini exercise sessions are practical,

The Legality Of Same Sex Marriage
The Legality of Same Sex Marriage Two single women living together could offer numerous
interpretations. It is mostly uncommon and considered to be an issue for some people especially
during the 19th century. The assumption then was that relationships were platonic but in recent
years, different speculations started to came out (Lyness, Lipetz, and Davis 305). Different stories
of intimate companionships prevailed and were contemplated to be unnatural as to the appeal of
marriagebetween two women. Opposite presumptions however, argued that homosexual
relationships should be acknowledged as legitimate because it is part of human rights to recognize
and establish commitments, it stretches civil rights that concerns freedom and most especially, it is
a step to genderequality. Marriage is part of human rights and it is the way society recognizes
commitments between two people who share an intimate relationship with each other. It is a
fundamental union and one s right to marry the person he or she chooses to love. In recent years
however, college has served a place for young people to live together before marriage. Many
expressed concern on the threat of courtship and long term relationships that involved homosexual
partnerships (Risman, Hill, Rubin, and Peplau 77). However some evidences confirmed
comparisons on cohabilitations and commitments between homosexual couples to be naturally
similar to heterosexual relationships. A number of aspects were discussed such as

Japan had marched into China and declaring an all out attack on China specifically for their resources and supplies. Since Japan relied on international trade for their resources, it was vital for Japan to establish themselves as a powerful nation in order to receive the resources that they needed. However, their actions that they had done in China had violated the open door policy that was enacted by the US for the purpose of equal trading opportunities and business in China. • 4. The Themes Of Titus Andronicus And Antony And Cleopatra By... Shakespeare s experiences in the social and political world influenced his writing and ideas, in particular he created a parallelism between the Elizabethan Era he lived in and the ancient Roman Empire. The Elizabethan Era was a period in which England was prospering as a country and advancing in all aspects of its economy. This did not come without conflicts, in fact the differences in morals and religious values caused tension among the state. At this time Shakespeare wrote two of his Roman plays: Titus Andronicus and Antony and Cleopatra. The plays take place in Ancient Rome, at a time where Eastern moral and political values were deemed superior to all others. Rome is depicted as a strong military force in which the leaders are struggling to find peace. The Roman culture in Antony and Cleopatra and Titus Andronicus was one of Western superiority and military supremacy, leading to frequent internal conflicts and political distress among opponent empires. The Roman inability to welcome opposing ideologies, lead to extreme instability and the inevitable collapse of the empire. Shakespeare highlights that the same beliefs of superiority and invincibility that brought Romans prosperity, will also bring them destruction. Titus Andronicus is filled with violence and revengeful murders, this never ending cycle of atrocities begins with the scarification of Tamora s eldest son. Tamora is queen of the Goths, and she has been brought to Rome by Titus as captive. Romans refer to her ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Most of us do not need the results of a nationwide report to recognize that media have become an indispensable component and major influence in our everyday lives. A powerful tool, that contemporary society uses not only to entertain but also to communicate and educate, there is an ever present availability to media access. However, there is an ongoing debate over whether or not the power of this influence and its ubiquitous availability yields positive or negative consequences in different aspects of our lives. Technology/Media Affecting Today s Youth 3 Technology/Media Affecting Today s Youth According to http://www.merriam webster.com the definition of technology is the use of science in industry, engineering, etc., to invent useful things or to solve problems. • 10. The French Revolution of 1789 Essay There is no doubt that the French Revolution has had a profound effect on the world. The cause or causes of it have been greatly disputed. Clearly the Revolution s primary cause was the presence of a weak monarchy and a lack of a stable system of government. France s absolute monarchy had many changes toward the end of the eighteenth century. King Louis XVI, in his attempts to consolidate his authority and lessen the power of the aristocrats, had planned out an intendant system. The intendants were like governors. They would oversee one constituency of the country. These intendants could not govern the region in which they lived, and were chosen from other than the aristocracy. This insured that their allegiance was pledged to the king and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There were three divisions or classes in France called estates. The first estate, which was composed of church officials, had immense authority and obtained enormous salaries. Church officials obtained their salaries via taxes collected from church property. Therefore, since the officials received their salaries from the church property, they did not have to pay taxes. The second estate was composed mainly of nobility. They, too, were exempt from paying taxes. This left the entire tax burden upon the third estate. The third estate consisted of some merchants and entrepreneurs; however, the majorities were peasants. Corruption of the estates was causing much frustration among the common people who composed 70 percent of the population. The monarchy tried to make an attempt to give the third estate power by establishing the Estate s General, but this too was corrupted. Unlike most legislative bodies, the Estate s General did not vote by each person having a single vote. Rather, they let each estate have one vote each. Since the first two estates were always in agreement, the third estate was always out voted. This is a prime example of how the lack of a stable government had an immensely tragic effect on the people of the country. If the monarchy had tried to make some reform or if Louis XVI had more backbone to institute some tax reform to lessen the burden on the third estate, the Revolution may have been avoided. An entire section of the book is dedicated to the first meeting between Rich and Waverly s mother and father. During the entire section, Rich makes one blunder after another. He brought a lovely bottle of red wine for dinner, not knowing that the Chinese do not stereotypically drink wine. He fumbled with the chopsticks, took huge portions and refused seconds, and regrettably added a hefty amount of soy sauce to all of the food. In possibly the biggest blunder of the night not only did he call Lindo and Tin Jong by their first names but he butchered them calling them Linda and Tim. At the end of the night his ignorance came into play again; I knew he had failed miserably in her eyes. Rich obviously had a different opinion on how ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Two basic sources of influence: normative social influence, the need to be liked, accepted by others and Informational influence: need to be correct and to behave in accordance with reality. Solomon Asch (1956) devised an experiment to see if subjects would conform even if they were uncertain that the group norm was incorrect. In his study he asked subjects to take part in an experiment. They were each asked to match a standard length line with three other lines. He found that one of the situational factors of conformity is the size of the opposing majority. For example, the suffragettes started a movement in 1920 which changed the public and private opinion allowing women to have the right to vote in western society. As long as a minority stick by four basic rules then they stand a good chance of succeeding in their campaign. They need to be Consistent in their views, Flexible not too rigid in their views, Committed to the cause until it s heard and Relevant, they have more chance of being influential if their views are in line with social trends. Another experiment that psychologists use in respect of conformity and obedience is an experiment that was carried out by a psychologist named Stanley Milgram. He recruited 40 male participants by advertising for volunteers to take part in a study to see how punishment affects learning. The study was to take place at Yale University and everyone would be paid the same rate of $4.50 and they were informed that they would still get paid if they quit during the study. Based solely on its chemical properties, aspirin is a better medication when compared to paracetamol. Before the first ever pain killers were discovered, willow bark was used an analgesic due to its antipyretic nature. This later lead to the discovery of Aspirin. Acetanilide was the first derivative of paracetamol to be found. However, it could not be used due to its harmful toxic effects. During the 1880s, two antipyretic agents were developed. These were; acetanilide (1886) and phenacetin (1887). In 1877, Harmon Northrop Morse synthesised the first known acetaminophen (paracetamol). Therefore, the researchers concluded that the effect of emotional intensity on memory retention was heavily influenced by the factors of personal importance and online status (Wang, Lee, Hou, 2016, p. 3).
