Writing A Problem Solution Essay
Crafting an essay on the intricacies of "Writing A Problem Solution Essay" presents a
multifaceted challenge. First and foremost, delving into this topic requires a comprehensive
understanding of the genre itself. The complexities arise as one must navigate through the
intricate balance of identifying a problem, proposing viable solutions, and persuasively
presenting the chosen resolution.
Addressing the various elements of a problem-solution essay demands a keen analytical mind to
dissect issues, foresee potential obstacles, and devise plausible remedies. It involves a meticulous
process of research, data collection, and critical thinking to ensure the proposed solutions are not
only feasible but also impactful. Furthermore, articulating these ideas in a coherent and
persuasive manner adds another layer of difficulty to the task.
The writer must also consider the audience's perspective, tailoring the essay to engage and
convince readers of the urgency and validity of the proposed solutions. This necessitates a deep
understanding of the target audience's values, beliefs, and potential objections.
Time management is another significant hurdle. Balancing the various stages of essay writing
— from research to drafting, revising, and polishing — requires effective time allocation.
Procrastination and a lack of discipline can exacerbate the already challenging process.
Ultimately, writing an essay on this topic demands a harmonious blend of research skills, critical
thinking, persuasive writing, and time management. It's not merely about outlining problems and
solutions but about constructing a compelling narrative that captivates the reader while
addressing real-world issues.
In conclusion, while the difficulty may seem daunting, mastering the art of crafting a problem-
solution essay can be immensely rewarding. It not only sharpens one's analytical and writing
skills but also equips individuals with the ability to advocate for positive change through well-
articulated solutions.

How Did The British Invasion Influence American Culture
The British Invasion was a phenomenon that began in the 1960 s and has somehow
kept itself alive even to this day. Americans have been bombarded with British culture
for years, and rather than shun the differences, they have accepted them into their
lives. Music, television, and literature in America have all been changed due to
British influence. In many different ways, the British Invasion has greatly affected
American culture. The early British invasion was an amazing time for music. The
American music culture blossomed and grew, leaving even today s public infatuated.
During the early years of the British Invasion, many American artists were put out of
business. Of the few American artists that did make it in the music business during...

When it comes to most people, one band in particular pops into mind. For some,
maybe it is The Who, singing My Generation. However, more often than not, it is The
Beatles who stand above the rest. The Beatles are credited for being the main cause
of the British invasion. They tried for many years to gain the support and
recognition of the American public, but to no avail. In 1963, The Beatles released a
single, trying to get onto the American charts, but it ended up only gaining
popularity in England.(Gilmore, Mikal) But on November 22, 1963, the unthinkable
happens, and president John F. Kennedy was shot and killed. After seeing how
heartbroken the American public was, the Beatles swooped, seeming to be the
perfect antidote to their broken hearts. The beatles released another song, I Want to
Hold Your Hand, which quickly made it to number 1 on Billboard Hot 100 . At one
point in their careers, the band held down all top 5 positions on the national singles
chart. They could not last forever though, and on September 1969, John Lennon
privately announced that he would be leaving the group. The public did not know
about the break up until April 10, 1970, when Paul McCartney announced that he too
was leaving the band. Though the Beatles were gone, many amazing British artists
have since followed in their footsteps. One Direction, Ed Sheeran, and The Rolling
Stones are only a
Occurrence Of Abuse On The Childhoods Of Serial Killers
Occurrence of Abuse in the Childhoods of Serial Killers
Danielle E. Higgins
University of Southern Indiana
Abstract
Many factors contribute to the inner workings of a serial killer. One of the most
prominent seems to be the incidence of some type or multiples types of childhood
abuse. This paper discusses the different types of child abuse that could contribute to
qualities of a serial killer, including several well known serial murderers. It also
discusses the different types of serial killers and the characteristics that each type
portrays.
Occurrence of Abuse in the Childhoods of Serial Killers
Serial murder is one of the most horrific acts that a person can commit. Multiple
murder can be broken down into three different types: mass murder, spree murder,
and serial murder (Knight, 2006). Mass murder involves killing three or more
individuals in one place during one short time span, spree murder involves killing
three or more individuals within a time period of 30 days, and serial murder is
killing three or more individuals over a time span of more than 30 days with a
cooling off period between the murders, being anywhere from days, weeks, months,
or even many years (Knight, 2006). In this paper, I am going to focus on the latter
serial killers.
Many researchers are interested in serial killers, mainly to figure out why these
people kill the way that they do. Anderson (1994), compares serial killers to addicts
alcoholics, gamblers, drug abusers, etc. they all seem to have
Advantages And Disadvantages Of Wine
With the globalisation, world is becoming smaller day by day and internationalism
of taste amongst the consumer is rising. This rise has made export of wines around
the world more acute. This has let one product from one country available easily in
another part of the world (McDougall, 1989).
Distribution channel should be picked up carefully depending on the what type up
business we are in, what stage we are in business, what kind of maturity does a
market has in that particular country etc. Distribution channel could be somehow
complex due to the traditional market split into mass market and specialist market
channel. Some countries are more into wholesale dealing while some are more into
discount shops like supermarkets, wine shops etc. ... Show more content on

Raise in the use of internet, smart phones, social medias etc. has brought world closer.
Businesses are changing way of approaching market. Therefore, we cannot deny that
most of the business today are run through social medias like Facebook. A study
(Gergely, Motitz, Dimitri, 2014) shows that 60% of the wineries are communicating
with their customer through social medias resulting in higher turnover than those of
non users. It (2014) shows that customers were likely to receive offer more quicker
and constantly through social medias.
There is increasing trend of small wine producers engage in horizontal networking
within their sub regions and at state wide level (Lewis, Grimmer, Byrom, 2015).
Small wine producers join horizontal approach to develop network or enter market
due to various reasons like commercial, social and strategic reason (Lewis et al.,
2015). Motivation to choose different ideas comes along with the experience (Lewis
et al., 2015). This study shows (Lewis et al., 2015) shows that producers join
horizontal networks for most of the times and they are very beneficial as
Hamlet Soliloquy Essay
Wherever there is action, lie s a consequence. The tale of one of William Shakespeare
s most prominent play, Hamlet revolves around this theme. The story follows a young
prince, who has gone through many obstacles to attain revenge on his treacherous
uncle, who had murdered his father and married his mother. A major scene in that
enforces this idea would be during act IV, when Hamletdecides that the time for
retribution has come. When making this play, Shakespeare had one central intention,
impress the Elizabethan audience. Citizens from the Elizabethan times had very
different taste in entertainment compared to the people of today. Plays back then
were performed on stage and executed with a high degree of expertise. An effective
way to engage the audience with the play is through the use of a soliloquy, which
was done masterfully throughout the play. A soliloquy is basically a means of
character disclosure of thoughts to the audience. It is used as a tool by which the...

Hamlet first questions this nature of man at the opening of his speech, inquiring
What is a man/ If his chief good and market of his time/ Be but to sleep and feed? A
beast, no more (IV. iv. 32 34). After such a remark, the audience cannot help but
think about what has been said and feel as if their integrity is being questioned.
Furthermore he also questions the honor of man and himself. He claims, I do not
know, Why yet I live to say This thing s to do, Sith, I have cause and will and
strength and means, To do t. (IV, IV, 42 45) This soliloquy helps the audience to
better appreciate Hamlet and to understand themselves. Hamlet calls himself a
coward for his actions, and consequently, the audience feels as if they are called a
coward as well. Ultimately, this soliloquy helps to enforce the theme of morality
which has a lasting effect on the Elizabethan

Red Deer River Oil Spill
Plains Midstream company is the cause of this big oil spill in Red Deer River. The
big cause of the oil spill was when a pipeline that was owned by Plains Midstream
had been broken and was not functioning correctly as it was supposed to. The pipe
is supposed to process the oil through it and around to make the oil. However, the
pipe actually did not do this and the oil had gone around and it had been broken
since there were old pipes and not new ones. Almost half a million of crude oil had
been leaked into the creek of Red Deer River so the people had been very
devastated about this occurring because instead of enjoying the view, all they see is a
lot of oil that had polluted their water and there whole community with dirty water.

If the oil spill is very big than it could take months to get out all of the oil because it
really depends on how fast you also clean it. If the spill is very little than it may
just take days to clean up to the spill. One big way to clean up a big oil spill is
something called the Skimmer this is a machine that goes through the water and it
collects oil and removes it but sometimes the Skimmer collects oil and saves it
because not all of the oil that is in the water is bad. But, the oil that is bad is taken
out and removed completely. Another method to take out oil is something called
the Boom this is a barrier that traps oil inside the barrier and it reduces to pollute
shorelines and other resources around it, and it also makes the water recover faster
to make it normal once again. At the same time oil skimmers cost a pretty good
amount to, it starts at 194.99 dollars for one machine and since the spill was in a
pond you would need a lot of these skimmers to clean all of the oil. You could use
another big method to clean up the oil is bioremediation this is a place where it s a
waste management area, therefore you could use this to clean up all of the bacteria
and oil, but there is also a really big cost to clean all of the oil. For 1 cubic yard it
costs around 50 dollars, so this shows that if you have a
The Importance Of Deep Ecology
Deep ecology is about always asking questions about human life, nature, and society.
Deep ecology is more meditative and goes beyond the factual scientific level, to the
level of self and Earth wisdom. It goes beyond a shallow approach to environmental
problems. It articulates a comprehensive religious and philosophical worldview, along
with ecological consciousness.
Ecological consciousness and deep ecology contrast the technocratic industrial
societies that isolate humans from nature.
Over time Western culture has been obsessed with dominance. Humans over non
humans, masculinity over femininity, wealthy over poor, western over non western
cultures. Deep ecological consciousness allows us to see through the perception of
this dangerous illusion. A dominant world view is centered around maximizing and
using natural resources for our destructive consumerist habits. Deep ecology is about
minimizing and finding harmony with nature.
Deep ecology means reflecting on ourselves. The search for deep ecological
consciousness is the search for an objective consciousness and state of active deep
questioning and meditative process as a way of life.
Arne Naess said that deep ecology is The shallow and the deep, long range ecology
movement
This quote describes the deeper, spiritual approach to nature. This deeper approach
allows us to be more open and sensitive to ourselves and nonhuman life.
Arne Naess developed two ultimate norms which were brought by deep questioning

Examples Of Animism In Spirit Away
Spirit Away is an anime style fantasy film written and directed by the celebrated
artist Hayao Miyazaki. Originally released in Japan in 2001 to great fanfare,
Disney translated an English version and distributed the film to western audiences
later that same year. In 2002, Spirit Away went on to win an Academy Award for
Best Animated Feature, the Golden Bear Award at the International Film Festival
in 2003, and has become the most successful film in Japanese history to date. The
story focuses on a young, ten year old girl named Chihiro, who in the beginning
proves to be a very apathetic, whiny, and spoiled sort of child but grows and
develops tremendously as a bright soul by the end of the viewer s journey. The realm
in which Chihiro inhabits... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Pythagoreans followed purification rituals that included extensive bathing, with
well developed rules, enabling their souls to achieve a higher rank among the
gods. Chihiro s journey of change and growth takes place in a bathhouse that
caters to these gods. There is notable emphasis on the bathing rites of passage
occurring in the film and as Chihiro tends to her daily work she is often dripping
wet, herself, from drawing baths and providing towel services to the gods. The most
dramatic of scenes includes an ancient stink spirit who arrives in search of its ritual
cleaning. Chihiro begins her duties only to be engulfed in the stench and mire that
flow from the stink spirit and upon successfully removing a thorn from its side, the
spirit proves to be a polluted river spirit, whose trash and pollution pours into the
room. Mindless waste, greed, and disregard for environment, all too well, relate the
ancient Pythagorean teaching that consequences of our daily actions alter our natural
and individual worlds in harmful and destructive ways that we know
The Effects Of Cancer On Communication Between Family
Members
Cancer (noun): a disease caused by an uncontrolled division of abnormal cells in any
part of the body. Cancer cells often cumulate in one section of the body and then
begin its journey to over take its victim. Although, the battle for a cancer stricken
individual will test his or her strength and resilience, it will also put the strength of the
familyto test. Unfortunately, more than one million individuals in the United States
develop cancereach year. Thus, raises the question: How do family members
communicate when an individual within the family develops cancer? Many families
within the United States struggle with what are the proper ways of communicating

Yelling from the top of my lungs at the bottom of the staircase, demanding
breakfast and the control to turn on my favorite morning cartoon, everything
seemed to be normal. However, the world as I once knew it quickly took a turn for
the worse. You see, being the youngest of five, I quickly learned that a quiet house
isn t a normal house. Therefore, as I huffed and puffed up the stairs, snarling
because everyone was still nestled in their beds, something quickly caught my eye.
My brother, Craig was on the floor rolling back and forth in agonizing pain, he was
barely able to make a call for help. Suddenly, my parents were awakened from my
screaming and they quickly called 9 1 1. Seconds turned into minutes, minutes
turned into hours, and hours turned into days. It seemed like my family was
crumbling before my eyes. Suddenly, as I began to lose hope, I looked out of my
bedroom window to see my dad carrying my brother in his arms up the driveway.
My heart sunk into my stomach because I always saw my brother as a strong, self
sufficient teenager who never accepted help from anyone. Eager to know what
happened, my parents sat my three older siblings and myself on the couch and told
us the news: Craig has Cancer. Cancer. That s all I heard. That one word had the
ability to weaken the mold that once held my family together for so many years. My
family became frantic and then gradually we began to forget how

Celsius, Fahrenheit, And Kelvin

Fahrenheit, and Kelvin. These three units can use certain equation to change its units
from one to another. The specific heat is a term for a number of calories in heat

Procedure
The initial temperature of the water was measured when it is in beaker. When the salt

was measured in Celsius and was changed to both Fahrenheit and Kelvin. The second
experiment involved the heat exchange between metal and water. The metal in beaker

Australian And International Legal Systems
Human rights are the recognition of basic rights and freedoms believed to justifiably
belong to all human beings.
When studying human rights for indigenous Australians now it is vital to also
consider this issue in an historical context. The profound injustices since white
settlement have left deep scars which are ever present today.
The new settlers followed the legal approach that the land was not owned before
white settlement (Terra Nullius, meaning nobody s land ) and therefore was theirs for
the taking. They not only inflicted systematic physical and mental abuse but they
fenced Indigenous Australians out of their land, which had and has an impact that is
difficult for non indigenous Australians to comprehend.
In evaluating both Australian and International legal systems and how effective they
have been in addressing justice for our indigenous people, the starting document is
the Australian Constitution. Our Constitution conspicuously fails to recognize the
rights of Australia s indigenous peoples.
No indigenous Australians were involved in the development of the Constitution.
In the 20th Century indigenous Australian children were forcibly removed from their
families under Acts of both Federal and State governments. This practice occurred
between approximately 1905 and 1969. These Acts of Parliament were clearly
discriminatory and created what became known as the stolen generation .
In 1962 the Commonwealth legislated to ensure indigenous Australians had

Domestic Violence Is Not Only About Using Physical Force
I.Introduction
Domestic violence is considered a crime in the United States and in many other
countries around the world. Every 15 seconds, there is a woman being beaten by her
husband or intimate partner. When we think of domestic violence, our minds
automatically create an image of a male physically abusing a female. Although in
most cases the victim is usually a female, we must also be aware that in today s
society, men are also victims of domestic violence. According to the Bureau of Justice
Statistics Crime Data Brief, about 3.2 million men are abused by their partners each
year (Domestic). However, this is only an estimate based on reported incidents. It is
also extremely important to understand that domestic violence, is not only ... Show

Although, forensic psychology was founded decades ago, it still remains as one of
the more recent branches of psychology. The contribution of a forensic psychologist
plays a critical role in the process of many crime investigations. The most important
task of a forensic psychologist is conducting psychological assessments of any
suspect involved in a crime case, including children. For that reason, a forensic
psychologist must have a strong foundation of both clinical skills and law training
(Ward, 2013).
III.Battered Woman Syndrome One of the most common defense arguments used
in domestic violence homicide crimes, is the act of self defense due to battered
woman syndrome (BWS). Battered woman syndrome is a theory that was
developed by clinical psychologist, Dr. Lenore Walker during the 1970 s. Her
approach towards BWS explains why battered women kill their abusive partners,
instead of ending the relationship. According to Dr. Walker, many victims of
domestic violence find it difficult to end an abusive relationship due to learned
helplessness (Rodgers, 2017). Dr. Walker also discovered that most women with
BWS follow a pattern called The Cycle of Violence . She explains that the cycle
consists of three different stages:
The tension building stage, the acute battering incident stage and the honeymoon
stage. In the first stage, victims cover up for the partner s abuse toward family and
friends. This leads

contemporary great civilizations emerged as a result of widespread military

Mongols desired to advance their knowledge in the areas of medication, food

and books on medicine and agriculture were transported to and from the Middle East

Mongolian rule through soldierly conquests and desire for new goods, prosperity, and
scientific developments ultimately reduced cultural segregation Thereby, world

Italian Food In The 1970s
America has seen numerous waves of immigrants which brought their own culture
and cuisine. With time various cuisines became very popular nationwide and not just
within the original consuming communities. One of the most popular ethical foods
in the United States is Italian food. It gained its popularity long time ago and since
lots of Italian dishes became leaders in restaurants. Due to growing interest of general
public to Italian foodnumerous food restaurant networks have emerged in the United
States. Moreover, only one third of so called Italian food is imported from Italy. This
suggests that many products are fake and many people take advantage of popularity
of Italian food. Sometimes manufacturers name their products Italian but they have
nothing in common with authentic Italian food.

Furthermore, people become more and more acquainted with the food because of
press and television. The recipes of Italian dishes were available and preparation
was relatively easy. The major difference about representation of Italian food in the
1960s and 1970s was that social status and welfare was not targeted by popular
magazines. Moreover, the ability to examine foods and make own preparations were
given an unprecedented importance. The Americans could exercise their competence,
distinction, and good taste according to their own individual style (Cinotto 5).
However, authenticity became the most important value of Italian food, the visitors
of Italian restaurants expected their chefs to focus on the use of authenticity of
recipes, techniques for cooking and other things. In late 1970 s, this aspect became a
focus for popular magazines which quickly engaged in production of cultural
Bicornuate Uterus Research Paper
My greatest success is the day my daughter was born. That entire day would be
considered as my crowning achievement because before she was born, my doctor
told me that there was a very high chance that I could give birth around 20 weeks
and even miscarry before then due to my bicornuate uterus. A bicornuate uterus is
where the uterus has two horns and usually the baby can only grow in one side, so
it lowers the survival chance of the baby. I was, what is known as, a high risk
pregnancyand had to take extra care in day to day life; no lifting anything over five
pounds and not being on my feet for too long. When I thought of giving birth, I had
an entire plan set up. I had pictured my water breaking, contractions being hard but

Women In Sojourner Truth
Is one born a woman or does one become a woman? Simone de Beauvoir also
believes that one is not born a woman, but becomes one. In From Second Sex, she
argues we[women] are exhorted to be women, remain women, become women.
Women have always been man s dependent and never shared the equality in power
structure. They are even considered as the others from men, not the one . This
implies the idea of women being object in contrast to men being subject. de Beauvior
says that this power inequality comes from the women s historical economic
dependence on men. Because of the material protection from the men in the past,
women acquired to become feminine. Therefore, females learn to be a womanas they
grow up.
However, for Sojourner Truth, one
Analysis Of Savage Inequalities By Jonathan Kozol
Jonathan Kozol s purpose in Savage Inequalities is to make people aware of the
inequalities of the education system in different parts of the country. He
accomplishes this purpose effectively through the use of appeals, such as ethos,
pathos, and logos. Jonathan writes this book showing how bad different places
around the world are financially and educationally. In East St. Louis there is the
financial and community/environmental problems like not having garbage collection
transporting hazardous waste, how useless the government body, or more importantly
how there is not a good, sufficient amount of qualified teachers. The reason he talks
about this is because although every city has there problems there is an absurd
amount of problems... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example he would discuss the stats of percentage of black kids in a school or
Latino kids. He would also provides stats about how many of the students of schools
schools in poverty would graduate or go to college. Jonathan appeals to pathos
because he grabs our emotions by telling the stories of the kids in the low level
schools. For example he mentions in the fourth paragraph that schools in Camden
do not have windows, ceilings, or working fire alarms. These students are not only
suffering financially but also physically because the can not even receive medical
treatment. He really grabs our attention when he says that the neighboring area
children are doing just fine, so these kids see how they are not worth the money to
help keep them going when the other kids are. We believe everything he says and
take it to heart because he gained his credibility by mentioning that he himself was
an educator. He was a teacher at an inner city middle school. He talked about how
even when he was a teacher that he could not even have a classroom for the kids
because there was no funding. He also uses ethos by telling us that he took time off
work to go around the world going to inner city schools, interviewing people getting
the dirty truth in how the education system really
Protein Essay
Proteins are widely used in the food industry as foaming and emulsifying agents
(Wilde et al. 2004). They stabilize oil in water emulsions by forming an interfacial
membrane where the adsorbed proteins unfold and rearrange their secondary and
tertiary structures to expose hydrophobic residues to the hydrophobic phase
(MacRitchie, 1978). Plant proteins are low cost, non toxic, natural, biocompatible,
and biodegradable polymers. In recent years, plant proteins have drawn increasing
attention from the food and pharmaceutical industries as an alternative to animal
proteins due to increased consumer concerns over the safety of animal derived
products (e.g., prion diseases) (Liu et al., 2010). Among plant proteins, soybean

Among the chemical treatments, pH shifting is a relatively new method that adjusts
the pH of a protein solution to extreme basic or acidic conditions to unfold the
protein, followed by changing the pH back to neutral to refold the protein. This
unfolding refolding process has been reported to effectively modify the protein
functional properties (Jiang et al., 2010, Lee et al., 2016). High intensity ultrasound
or power ultrasound refer to sonic waves that are at frequencies higher than sound
audible to the human ear, with sound intensities in the range of 0.1 1 W/cm2 (Feng
and Yang, 2011). The mode of action of ultrasound induced protein structure
modification is often attributed to acoustic cavitation. The physical forces produced
by cavitation, such as shear forces produced by micro streaming and normal
impingement from the water jets at the solid liquid interfaces, help to break down the
protein particles or aggregates in dispersions (Lee et al., 2016). Conventional
ultrasonic modification of protein functionality is performed at relatively low
cavitation intensities. Consequently, a relatively long treatment time, i.e. 15 30 min
for soy proteins (Hu et al., 2013) is required to produce meaningful changes in protein
structures. There is a
Current Health Status Of Cambodia
This paper discusses the current health status of Cambodia, and the factors that
influence it. These factors include the healthcare systems and national expenditures
for healthcare, ethnic diversity and cultural factors, gender equality, communicable
and noncommunicable diseases, technology in global health, and health policies.
Cambodia, overall, has seen a major improvement in recent years following the
Khmer Rouge, with major strides especially in economic growth, education, and
some communicable diseases. However, Cambodia still struggles in some areas due
to it s lack of infrastructure, making areas like improving access to healthcare and
decreasing poverty difficult. If Cambodia wishes to improve in all areas, it will need
to focus on using its fast economic growth to help improve its infrastructure.
Healthcare in Cambodia and Its Impact on Cambodians I will be doing an in depth
analysis on the urbanization, education, work conditions, income status, and access
to health services on the health of Cambodia. I think these determinants are very
important in understanding the health challenges Cambodia faces. At 8.4%
Cambodia has one of the highest urbanization rates in the world (The World Bank,
2015), yet it s urban infrastructure is limited and outdated, making urbanization a
major obstacle for the health of Cambodians . Less than half of Cambodian
adolescents are enrolled in secondary school (NGO Education Partnership, 2015), and
this is important
Hijacked by Pinterest
Really? Not again. I ve been hijacked. I ve just spent three hours on Pinterest
searching for a new recipe for dinner. I don t know if I should be ashamed or
excited. I did find a pretty amazing recipe for roasted red pepper Alfredo though.
However, I did just lose three hours of my time. I could of finished various tasks in
those three hours. I ll be the first one to admit it: smart technology is making me
dumb. People like me rely on smart technology for too many things: phone books,
directions, new information, etc. Soon people will depend on it for everything. I
believe smart technology will hijack our lives.
Many daily chores are completed by the use of smart technology. For example,
smart technology can be used for: setting an alarm clock, making phone calls,
balancing a bank account, paying bills, checking e mails, doing homework, getting
directions, etc. Many people take advantage of this. They may use their laptop,
iPad, cellphone up to ten times a day to complete these tasks. I ll admit it, I have a
favorite app myself. Pinterest! I ll lose hours on end getting lost in the app. However,
smart technology does have better uses. Henry Ford community college student,
Shandra Dicks, found a useful way to use smart technology. Dicks, loves to spend her
spare time running. She also likes to keep track of her progress from day to day.
Dicks, started using the Nike Sensor; a micro chip she places in her shoe. This is a

The Military Institutional System For Military Service...
Individuals who join the military come from various backgrounds, once within the
military institutional system, families can be at an advantage by stable employment
and benefits, and safe, well maintained local environments (Rodriguez Margolin,
2015, p.35). However, military deployments and duty related separations are very
common for military service members and their families. They are one of the most
widely recognized and documented stressors for military families. Nevertheless, the
experience of separation can also strengthen military couples and families by
increasing their resiliency (as cited in Norwood, Fullerton, Hagen, 1996). The
temporary absence of a parent is experienced by many youth and can have profound

Complicating the picture are common gender differences in: rates of internalizing and
externalizing symptoms, coping strategy utilization, and susceptibility to
environmental factors, including parenting among youth. Although early studies on
parental deployment suggested boys were at elevated risk (as cited in Jensen et al.
1996), most recent studies (as cited in e.g., Chartrand et al. 2008; Flake et al. 2009)
п¬Ѓnd no main effect of gender on outcomes. However, during adolescence, boys
appear more at risk for suicidality (Reed et al. 2011) and girls for emotional,
behavioral, and academic problems during their parent s deployment. There is
evidence that more complex patterns do exist such as, findings that parents girl
school aged children reported higher externalizing symptoms during deployment and
parents of boys reported elevated symptoms at reunion. (Rodriguez Margolin, 2015,
p.28). In addition, absences that pose more danger or hardship to the absent parent
(e.g., when separations are traumatic, long, or lead to п¬Ѓnancial deprivation) are
linked to poorer functioning for youth. Within military deployment literature, a few
reviews provide detailed information about the intersection of deployment demands
and developmental changes during early childhood and adolescence (as cited in
Milburn and Lightfoot 2013). Desert Storm era studies suggested younger children
were more at risk during deployment. However, studies of recent conflicts have

Barbell Back Squat Essay
Barbell back squats have always been a staple exercise in every bodybuilder,
powerlifter and athlete s workout regimen. Squats not only help build size to your
legs but they also have other added benefits such as improved flexibility and an
increase in testosterone and growth hormone production. There are many different
techniques to help improve your squat such as the width of your stance or the
direction your toes are pointing. But the one technique that seems to be getting the
most attention is whether squatting barefoot is more beneficial in activating more
muscles in the lower limbs versus squatting wearing an athletic shoe. The following
study focuses on the activation of 8 lower limb muscles during a barbell back squat
while barefoot and in an athletic shoe. Researchers of this study hypothesize that the
barefoot condition will produce more muscleactivation in comparison to the athletic
shoe condition.
Participants in this study were healthy men and women ages 18 24. There were
several criterions the participants had to meet before partaking in the study. Each
individual had to successfully barbell back squat their own body weight for 1
repetition. Also participants were constantly observed by strength and conditioning
coaches to ensure proper technique was applied to the barbell back squat. Lastly

this method is be most effective way to write the story. Since we do not know what

could have most likely figured out something bad is going to happen to the winner

unexpected was going to occur. I picked up this idea about midway through the
story because, in my head I was thinking, so what, someone is going to win and
they go home with a price? No way, something unexpected is going to occur. Around

Children of God
Romans 8:16 tells us that The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we
are the children of God. This is a doctrine that receives strong emphasis in the LDS
church. From the time they enter Primary they sing the hymn I am a Child of God.
In Young Women s they recite We are daughters of our Heavenly Father, who loves
us and we love him. As LDS members, they live their lives knowing that they have a
loving Father in Heaven. Though other Christian churches share the belief that God is
the Father, their understanding of this fact is different than the LDS view. Other
churches interpret the scripture block Romans 8:14 17 to mean that we are adopted

To claim a God as our parent is either to claim ourselves as Godkind, or claim that
God is human. However, we are told that God made us in His own image, not just
in appearance, but in form. LDS members do not believe that God is Eternal Spirit
(ucg) but rather that he is material and humanoid (bills). Though there is a
difference between God and mankind, LDS doctrine tells us that The
difference...may be one of advancement...rather than one of kind or ontological
difference (white). We are the offspring of God, not just in form, but also in
disposition: Bills tells us that contrary to the popular belief of learned men, man is
created in both the physical and moral image of God (Bills). In all senses of the
word, we are a chip off the old block. Though not yet posessing the power of God,
as his children, we have the potential to be Gods. The number one thing we must
understand is that even though God is infinitely more than us, he is also similar to
us. He is our Father, and we are His children, therefore there must be similarity.
However, if you believe that we are merely adopted children of God, we lose out on

Tennyson s Merlin and Vivien Essay
Tennyson s Merlin and Vivien Known as one of Victorian England s finest poets,
Lord Alfred Tennyson epitomized the agony and despondency of the degradation of
one s character. His masterpiece, The Idylls of the King, explicates the grand scheme
of corruption of the Authurian age while simultaneously paralleling Tennyson s own
internal struggles. A most intriguing chapter of The Idylls, Merlin and Vivien
portrays the manipulative Vivien, identified as pure evil and hatred, as her
corruptive beauty leads to Merlin s self destruction. The Victorian era, from the
coronation of Queen Victoria in 1837 until her death in 1901, was an era of several

Growing up in Lincolnshire, Somersby, Tennyson faced a troubled childhood
plagued by insufficiency and neglect. The severe physical and moral degradation
of his father and brothers left Tennyson a disgusted disposition with the world.
These factors contributed significantly to Tennyson s desolate attitude which was
later displayed in his works. Later in life, while attending college, Tennyson
experienced a great tragedy the death of his best and beloved friend, Arthur
Hallam. This travesty produced in Tennyson profound spiritual depression, and he
vowed to refrain from issuing any more of his verse for a period of ten years.
During these ten years, he continued writing though without publishing his works.
After his depression, Tennyson returned to Authurian style and wrote his master
piece, The Idylls of the King, which attacked the corruption of Camelot (Ricks 92).
One of the most intriguing chapter of the Idylls is Merlin and Vivien, a narrative
poem with both allegorical and moral points (Reed 48). Merlin and Vivien was
written to demonstrate how comic expectations are foiled by ironic actuality
(Kincaid 177). Merlin and Vivien is said by many to be one of the most ill tasted
chapters of The Idylls. Jerome Buckley comments that Merlin s yielding to the
seductive wiles of Vivien is... the grossest example of the abject surrender of the

Pay It Forward Reflection
A young boy in social studies class is given an assignment, along with the rest of
the students, to come up with an idea that could change the world. As well as
coming up with an idea, the students also have to put it into action. Trevor
McKinney (Haley Joel Osment) does not know nor understand how a kid his age
can change the world. When he is riding his bike home from school, he passes up a
site where a group of homeless people live, and the idea of how he can change the
world comes to him. He figures that if he helps one person, then that person can help
three, and so on. This begins his plan to Pay it Forward.
The movie Pay It Forward (based on a novel by Catherine Ryan Hide) is directed by
Mimi Leder at Warner Brothers Studio. It was released in the year 2000, being a PG
13 drama. Starring in this movie is Kevin Spacey (Eugene Simonet), Helen Hunt
(Arlene McKinney), Haley Joel Osment (Trevor McKinney), Jon Bon Jovi (Arlene s
husband), and Angie Dickinson (Arlene s mother). The main idea of the movie is
for a class of kids to come up with a way to change the world and do it not just talk
about it. The project does not go exactly as Trevor plans it, but it comes out bigger
than he could have imagined.
The acting portrayed in this movie by Haley Joel Osment as the young Trevor
McKinney is excellent. Trevor McKinney is a kid that is wise beyond his years and
very courageous. He is the type of person who is not afraid to speak his mind or take

Polygamy Is The Most Common Form Of Polygamy
There are many problems within our society, polygamy has been a problem since
the 19th century and still is today. Polygamy is the practice of having more than one
spouse at a time. Polygyny is the most common form of polygamy, consists of one
man has multiple wives (Buck, 2012). Polygamy is illegal in the United States,
Canada and many other countries around the world. In the 1800s, under the direction
of its founder Joseph Smith, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints(LDS)
began to practice polygamy. Members of the LDS Church, also known as Mormons,
believed that Smith was the prophet of God and they must follow his teachings if
they wanted to go to heaven. After Smith s death, the new prophet, Brigham
Young, began publically teaching the practice of polygamy (Guiora, 2010). In
order to escape persecution for their religious practice of polygamy, the LDS
Church moved the Utah, which is where a large amount of the polygamous
community lives today. The United States government was opposed to the practice

My Trip On The California Health Care Facility Essay
For my discovery event, I went on a tour of The California Health Care Facility in
Stockton. I selected this event because I was very curious to know what it was like
to work in a prison setting. My desire for future work settings has been between a
nursing facility and prison facility. Before the visit I expected to know how a group
was done in lower level prison and the safetyprecautions implemented. The facility
tour was lead by CTRS John Widenmann and Gaganjot Singh. The first thing we
toured was there medical mall building where all the prisons went to thee
appointments for physical therapyoccupational therapy, dentist, diagnostics, x rays
and medical needs. John told us that some inmates walk with out a guard because
they have a card to specify where there suppose to be. If they refuse to go to there
appointment than force is used too make them. Along the tour he mentioned that
the rec therapists sees the inmate five time more in a week than other members of
a treatment team. We were able to visit a facilitation room, which had a class for
inmates to do artwork. One of the CTRS on staff mentioned that it is hard to have
supplies for the art projects. After touring the medical facilities, we walked a long
way to the prison area, dorm area and workspace where the recreation therapist ran
groups. John showed us their offices that over looked the play yard for some
prisoners. This can be good for therapist to observe behaviors and actions of the
inmatesoutside

Societies Maintaining Control in The Allegory of the Cave...
In The Allegory of the Cave and The Giver, these societies maintain control in
different ways. In The Allegory of the Cave, the prisoners are physically restrained,
but on the other hand, the community members in The Giver have a precision of
language rule. The people have been... shackled by the legs and neck...unable to
turn their heads around. The puppeteers in The Allegory of the Cave have
controlled the prisoners by shackling them by their legs and neck so they cannot
move. They cannot go against the puppeteers nor can they move freely to do
whatever they want so, the prisoners do what the puppeteers tell them. Do you love
me? ... Jonas. You, of all people. Precision of language, please! ... our community can
t function smoothly if people don t use precise language. (127) This quote in The
Givershows how precision of language controls the members of the community and
cannot function without it. It limits a range of experience by using more precise
words, so they would not over react. While the puppeteers maintain controlof the
prisoners physically, the Elders sustain it by controlling them mentally. The societies
in The Allegory of the Cave and The Giver, maintain control in similar ways too. In
The Allegory of the Cave and The Giver, the controllers both limit the range of
experience of the members in the community. Thus they stay in the same place so
that there is only one thing for them to look at: whatever they encounter in front of
Headaches and Alternative Treatment Options Essay
Headaches and alternative treatment options...
Almost everyone has experienced a headache in their lives. It is top of the list for
most common pains, and possibly the major underlying excuse in your life if you
miss something. It may come up suddenly while you are sitting at your desk and
working on a challenging task, at a stressful moment, or even at your sleep! You
may feel a belt is tightened around your head or can even be a throbbing type of
pain. Some of the headaches are periodic and a concomitant nausea may be felt. With
the involvement of stress as a factor, the pain might strike at the neck as well. Do all
these sound familiar with your experiences?

When treating of headaches are part of discussion, the strategies divide up according
to the underlying cause, although most of them obviously includes painkillers.
The most common type of headache is called the tension headache. This type of
headache is mostly due to a stressful condition, including challenging tasks, anxiety
and depression. Tension is term here referred to a spasm of muscles starting from
your shoulders and going up towards the head including the scalp. Tension headaches
are due to tight muscles in your shoulders, neck, scalp and jaw. If you experience this
type o headache, most likely it means that either you work to much, don t sleep
enough, don t drink enough water, use alcohol in a routine fashion, or don t just don t
sleep enough! Other common types of headaches include the publicly popular
headache called migraines and sinus headaches.
Although they all are uncomfortable situations, all of them do not require a
physician s attention, including the severe ones if they are in a routine fashion.
Most people can cope with headaches or find their own solutions in treating them,
sometimes by making small lifestyle changes, or learning a way to relax instead of
just heading to the medicine cabinet for a pain killer. On the other hand, sometimes
headaches are actually warning signals for serious disorders, so when you feel
something that you have never experienced before it is better to consult your doctor.

Disadvantages In my life, disadvantages have been a setback in my path to success.
My advantages have not always overruled them. The worst part of my disadvantages
is that I have no control over them. As I continue to live life, I struggle to overcome
my disadvantages and to shine bright. My biggest disadvantage would be my race.
Being an African American in the United States has always been seen as a negative.
From the moment my ancestors were brought to the United States, they were forced
to adjust to European customs. They were slaves, forced to do labor and were
considered property of the white man. Although slavery was abolished, discrimination
occurred. Many African American activist fought and died for African Americans
rights. There would only be nuance, but today things are going downhill again.
Today, the stereotypes of African Americans are put upon me. I am often judged
due to my race. I have been treated intellectually inferior multiple times. People
often assume me to be living in poverty and fatherless. Sometimes, people are
suspicious of me due to media and newscasts displaying African Americans as
criminals and dangerous. Due to my color, people even believe silly things like me
having a love for watermelon, grape soda and fried chicken.
Although, none of those things are true about me. As I mentioned, I have a strong
sense of analytical intelligence. I also have an active father in my life who goes
Outline and Evaluate the Behavioural Approach to...
Outline and Evaluate the Behavioural Approach to Psychopathology The
behaviourist approach assumes that all behaviours are learnt. It suggests that there
are three ways in which this learning can happen, these are classical conditioning,
operant conditioning and social learning. The first method is classical conditioning
this is when behaviour is learnt through association; via a stimulus and a response.
This is an explanation for phobias, an abnormal behaviour can be learned by
associating an environmental stimulus; a dog, with a biological response; fear and
pain when bitten by the dog. Therefore, every time a person previously bitten by a
dog sees a dog, they experience the same fear they felt when being bitten. Thus, the
person would... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The behaviourist approach focuses on the present behaviour of an individual and not
take into account on the past events, this is a strength as memory can sometimes not
be reliable and the most fundamental aspect is the patient s condition and finding a
cure to prevent it rather than focusing on the cause. For example, in the case of
phobias, this approach attempts to unlearn it rather than find the cause. However, this
may only temporarily cure the phobia as the cause is unidentified due to this
approach. Another strength is that there are practical applications. The model
suggests that abnormal behaviours are learnt, thus the best way to treat it to unlearn
faulty learning. This suggests that this model can improve the quality of people s
lives, for example desensitisation can be used to treat those with phobias. A
weakness is that this approach doesn t establish the cause of abnormal behaviour.
Critics say that just because abnormal behaviour can be changed by therapy, it does
not mean that it was learnt. For example therapy can lead an anorexic person to put
on weight, this does not mean they are cured, because they will never reach the
optimum of their health due to the underlying cause of anorexia still being there. This
weakness suggests that this model is not always scientific. Another weakness is that
this approach is reductionist because it overstates learnt factors in abnormality and
ignored other factors
Charles Darwin Social Influence
One of the most influential thinkers in science, Charles Darwin was a man with an
immense devotion to pursuing the relationship between himself and the world around
him.
In his article on the legacy of Darwin, Burghardt (2009) praised not only Darwin s
genuine interest in culture, human psychology, and all aspects of natural history, but
also his behavioral observations and interpretations of the animals and peoples of the
areas he visited (p.103). His inclination to find reason through observational and
exploratory research cemented his contributions to the knowledge of human
development. Darwin s theories are still at the forefront of psychological research,
lecture, and debate, and are the basis for many different areas of study within ... Show

Darwin (1860) never attempted to find a clear location of animal instinct but rather,
compared instincts to malleable, habitual experiences carried across individuals of
similar species (p.207). He concluded that natural selection could play a role in the
gradual development of instincts, and theorized that variations of competing
behaviors among different animals result of this phenomenon. In, The Organism and
its Behavior, Krout (1933), relays Darwin s attitudes of instinct, who spoke of
instincts as chains of reflexes but treated them as mental faculties , which impel
animals to perform certain actions (p. 87). Today s ethologists take Darwin s
approach to instinct, and emphasize the role of experience in shaping human
behavior. Fear, a trait observed by Darwin in various species of birds, is certainly an
instinctive quality, as may be seen in nestling birds, though it is strengthened by
experience, and by the sight of fear of the same enemy in other animals. But fear of
man is slowly acquired (Darwin, 1860). The natural world, according the Darwin, has
a direct effect on the everchanging traits of an organism, whether habitual or
instinctive. The constant shift of environmental factors influences humans and
nonhumans to form habits, and potentially, instincts. This comparative approach has
opened the doors to new ideas about behavior in humans
Illegal Drugs And The United States
On June 18, 1971, United States President Richard Nixon declared a war on drugs.
Since then the United States has focused their efforts on the criminalization and
prohibition of drug use, possession, trafficking, sale, and the production of it. The
issues pertaining to the War on Drugs has become a bigger issue throughout the
years due to the United States being the largest market place for illegal drugs and
substances. The United States has spent billions a year on drugwar policies to help
and try to discourage the production, distribution, and consumption of any drugs
that are found illegal in the United States. When it comes to drug use, efforts to
lower the use and flow of illegal drugs in the United States have yet to be
succeeded. On the contrary, the use and production of illegal drugs have only
seemed to grow. Sadly, punitive laws have not reduced the use or the availability
of illegal drugs but have actually had collateral damage. Example of said collateral
damage is drug related violence, health epidemics, mass incarceration, and the waste
of law enforcement. Sadly, many have been murdered due to the act of violence
between criminal activity fighting over territory and or power made due to drug
trade. Since 2000, the amount of people living with HIV has tripled due to injecting
drugs. In the last 30 years, prison population, in the United States, has quadrupled and
nearly a quarter of federal inmates are convicted of drugs. Lastly, the amount of

Nuclear Power Argumentative Essay
From the electricity that kept my home warm and powered the lights at school to
providing employment to both my parents for the past 30 years, nuclear power has
been at the center of my life growing up. In Wadsworth, Texas, the South Texas
Project Nuclear Operating Company has been a way a life thousands of people by
providing nearly 1200 jobs and providing carbon free electricity for over 2 million
people. However, this is just one example in just one state in the United States.
According to the Nuclear Energy Institute, 11 percent of the world s energy comes
from nuclear powerplants and for 13 countries it provides more than 25 percent of
their country s energy. However, even though nuclear power has made its mark as
a global competitor in the realm of green energy, incidents such as 3 Mile Island,
Chernobyl, and Fukushima have created a global sense of uneasiness. On top of this
underlying fear, the huge building costs of new nuclear plants has lead to a stunt in
the growth of nuclear energy even though operation costs for nuclear energy at
$0.0219/kW is less than that of coal ($0.023/KW) and almost half that of gas
($0.0451/kW) (IER). Even though nuclear energy has had some setbacks, it is still
safer (short term and long term) than the carbon producing alternatives. The question
at hand is whether we should take an utilitarian perspective by giving more serious
consideration to the long term effects of the carbon emitting energy sources and
whether we can overcome our

Greed In The Pardoners Tale
Throughout literature, relationships can often be found between the author of a story
and the story that he writes, whether intentional or not. In Geoffrey Chaucer s story,
Canterbury Tales, many of the characters on the pilgrimage make this statement
evident with the tales that they tell. Such a distinct relationship can be made between
the character of the Pardoner and the tale that he tells.
Through the Prologue to the Pardoner s tale, the character of the Pardoner is revealed.
Although the Pardoner displays many important traits, the most prevalent is his
greed. Throughout the prologue, the Pardoner displays his greed and even admits that
the only thing he cares about is money: quot;I preach nothing ... Show more content

Although the Pardoner is extremely greedy, he continues to try and teach that
quot;Avarice is the root of all evil quot; (6). He explains to the pilgrims how money
is the root of all evil, and then he takes the money from them in exchange for
forgiveness of their sins.
This action could be seen in two ways. Perhaps the Pardoner is a very greedy,
trecherous man, or perhaps Chaucer is trying to jab at Christianity by alluding to
Christ. The characters in his tale display great hypocrisy as well. As the tale
begins, the friends all act very trustworthy and faithful towards all of their friends.
They nobly make a decision to risk their lives while trying to slay their friend s
murderer. As they talk about their challenge, they pledge quot;to live and die each of
them for the other, / As if he were his own blood brother quot; (241 242). At the end
of the tale, the quot;brothers quot; begin to reveal their true nature. They all turn on
each other in an attempt to steal the treasure for themselves. All of the loyalty, which
they had pledged, was simply a lie and no faithfulness remained.
While the two older quot;brother quot; plotted to kill the younger, the younger
quot;brother quot; plotted
quot;to kill them both and never to repent quot; (388). Thus, these so called faithful
quot;brothers quot; display their true ruthlessness and reveal their hypocrisy in

Ethics Of The Bolam Test
When a doctor provides a patient with insufficient information, a alternative action
may lie in a claim for negligence for breach of duty of care towards the patient. In
the landmark case of Sidaway v Board of Governors of Bethlem Royal Hospital,
the House of Lords held that the legal standard to be relied upon while assessing
whether a doctor was negligent in relation to rendering advice about treatment was
contained in the Bolam test . As per this test a doctor would not be held to have
acted negligently if he acted in accordance with a reasonable body of medical
opinion. The majority in the Sidaway case rejected the approach adopted by Lord
Scarman who was of the view that the law must recognise the duty of the doctor to

in English jurisprudence the doctor s relationship with his patient which gives rise
to a normal duty of care to exercise his skill and judgement to improve the patient s
health in any particular respect in which the patient sought his aid, has hitherto
been treated as a single comprehensive duty covering all the ways in which a doctor
called upon to exercise his skill and judgement in the improvement of a physical or
mental condition of the patient for which his services either as a general
practitioner or specialist have been engaged. This general duty is not subject to
dissection into a number of component parts to which different criteria of what
satisfied the duty of care apply, such as diagnosis, treatment or advice . The Bolam
test has therefore been treated as laying down a principle of English law that is
comprehensive and applicable to every aspect of the duty of care owed by a doctor
to his patient in the exercise of his healing functions with respect to that particular

Writing A Problem Solution Essay

  • 1. Writing A Problem Solution Essay Crafting an essay on the intricacies of "Writing A Problem Solution Essay" presents a multifaceted challenge. First and foremost, delving into this topic requires a comprehensive understanding of the genre itself. The complexities arise as one must navigate through the intricate balance of identifying a problem, proposing viable solutions, and persuasively presenting the chosen resolution. Addressing the various elements of a problem-solution essay demands a keen analytical mind to dissect issues, foresee potential obstacles, and devise plausible remedies. It involves a meticulous process of research, data collection, and critical thinking to ensure the proposed solutions are not only feasible but also impactful. Furthermore, articulating these ideas in a coherent and persuasive manner adds another layer of difficulty to the task. The writer must also consider the audience's perspective, tailoring the essay to engage and convince readers of the urgency and validity of the proposed solutions. This necessitates a deep understanding of the target audience's values, beliefs, and potential objections. Time management is another significant hurdle. Balancing the various stages of essay writing — from research to drafting, revising, and polishing — requires effective time allocation. Procrastination and a lack of discipline can exacerbate the already challenging process. Ultimately, writing an essay on this topic demands a harmonious blend of research skills, critical thinking, persuasive writing, and time management. It's not merely about outlining problems and solutions but about constructing a compelling narrative that captivates the reader while addressing real-world issues. • 2. How Did The British Invasion Influence American Culture The British Invasion was a phenomenon that began in the 1960 s and has somehow kept itself alive even to this day. Americans have been bombarded with British culture for years, and rather than shun the differences, they have accepted them into their lives. Music, television, and literature in America have all been changed due to British influence. In many different ways, the British Invasion has greatly affected American culture. The early British invasion was an amazing time for music. The American music culture blossomed and grew, leaving even today s public infatuated. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When it comes to most people, one band in particular pops into mind. For some, maybe it is The Who, singing My Generation. However, more often than not, it is The Beatles who stand above the rest. The Beatles are credited for being the main cause of the British invasion. They tried for many years to gain the support and recognition of the American public, but to no avail. In 1963, The Beatles released a single, trying to get onto the American charts, but it ended up only gaining popularity in England.(Gilmore, Mikal) But on November 22, 1963, the unthinkable happens, and president John F. Kennedy was shot and killed. After seeing how heartbroken the American public was, the Beatles swooped, seeming to be the perfect antidote to their broken hearts. The beatles released another song, I Want to Hold Your Hand, which quickly made it to number 1 on Billboard Hot 100 . At one point in their careers, the band held down all top 5 positions on the national singles chart. They could not last forever though, and on September 1969, John Lennon privately announced that he would be leaving the group. The public did not know about the break up until April 10, 1970, when Paul McCartney announced that he too was leaving the band. Though the Beatles were gone, many amazing British artists have since followed in their footsteps. One Direction, Ed Sheeran, and The Rolling Stones are only a

Higgins University of Southern Indiana Abstract Many factors contribute to the inner workings of a serial killer. One of the most prominent seems to be the incidence of some type or multiples types of childhood abuse. This paper discusses the different types of child abuse that could contribute to qualities of a serial killer, including several well known serial murderers. It also discusses the different types of serial killers and the characteristics that each type portrays. Occurrence of Abuse in the Childhoods of Serial Killers Serial murder is one of the most horrific acts that a person can commit. Multiple murder can be broken down into three different types: mass murder, spree murder, and serial murder (Knight, 2006). Mass murder involves killing three or more individuals in one place during one short time span, spree murder involves killing three or more individuals within a time period of 30 days, and serial murder is killing three or more individuals over a time span of more than 30 days with a cooling off period between the murders, being anywhere from days, weeks, months, or even many years (Knight, 2006). In this paper, I am going to focus on the latter serial killers. Many researchers are interested in serial killers, mainly to figure out why these people kill the way that they do. If the spill is very little than it may just take days to clean up to the spill. But, the oil that is bad is taken out and removed completely. Another method to take out oil is something called the Boom this is a barrier that traps oil inside the barrier and it reduces to pollute shorelines and other resources around it, and it also makes the water recover faster to make it normal once again. At the same time oil skimmers cost a pretty good amount to, it starts at 194.99 dollars for one machine and since the spill was in a pond you would need a lot of these skimmers to clean all of the oil. You could use another big method to clean up the oil is bioremediation this is a place where it s a waste management area, therefore you could use this to clean up all of the bacteria and oil, but there is also a really big cost to clean all of the oil. Deep ecology is more meditative and goes beyond the factual scientific level, to the level of self and Earth wisdom. It goes beyond a shallow approach to environmental problems. It articulates a comprehensive religious and philosophical worldview, along with ecological consciousness. Ecological consciousness and deep ecology contrast the technocratic industrial societies that isolate humans from nature. Over time Western culture has been obsessed with dominance. Humans over non humans, masculinity over femininity, wealthy over poor, western over non western cultures. Deep ecological consciousness allows us to see through the perception of this dangerous illusion. A dominant world view is centered around maximizing and using natural resources for our destructive consumerist habits. Deep ecology is about minimizing and finding harmony with nature. Deep ecology means reflecting on ourselves. The search for deep ecological consciousness is the search for an objective consciousness and state of active deep questioning and meditative process as a way of life. Arne Naess said that deep ecology is The shallow and the deep, long range ecology movement This quote describes the deeper, spiritual approach to nature. This deeper approach allows us to be more open and sensitive to ourselves and nonhuman life. Arne Naess developed two ultimate norms which were brought by deep questioning and reveal

Pythagoreans followed purification rituals that included extensive bathing, with well developed rules, enabling their souls to achieve a higher rank among the gods. Chihiro s journey of change and growth takes place in a bathhouse that caters to these gods. There is notable emphasis on the bathing rites of passage occurring in the film and as Chihiro tends to her daily work she is often dripping wet, herself, from drawing baths and providing towel services to the gods. The most dramatic of scenes includes an ancient stink spirit who arrives in search of its ritual cleaning. Chihiro begins her duties only to be engulfed in the stench and mire that flow from the stink spirit and upon successfully removing a thorn from its side, the spirit proves to be a polluted river spirit, whose trash and pollution pours into the room. Therefore, as I huffed and puffed up the stairs, snarling because everyone was still nestled in their beds, something quickly caught my eye. My brother, Craig was on the floor rolling back and forth in agonizing pain, he was barely able to make a call for help. Suddenly, my parents were awakened from my screaming and they quickly called 9 1 1. Seconds turned into minutes, minutes turned into hours, and hours turned into days. It seemed like my family was crumbling before my eyes. Suddenly, as I began to lose hope, I looked out of my bedroom window to see my dad carrying my brother in his arms up the driveway. My heart sunk into my stomach because I always saw my brother as a strong, self sufficient teenager who never accepted help from anyone. Eager to know what happened, my parents sat my three older siblings and myself on the couch and told us the news: Craig has Cancer. Cancer. That s all I heard. That one word had the ability to weaken the mold that once held my family together for so many years. My family became frantic and then gradually we began to forget how

  • 16. Australian And International Legal Systems Human rights are the recognition of basic rights and freedoms believed to justifiably belong to all human beings. When studying human rights for indigenous Australians now it is vital to also consider this issue in an historical context. The profound injustices since white settlement have left deep scars which are ever present today. The new settlers followed the legal approach that the land was not owned before white settlement (Terra Nullius, meaning nobody s land ) and therefore was theirs for the taking. They not only inflicted systematic physical and mental abuse but they fenced Indigenous Australians out of their land, which had and has an impact that is difficult for non indigenous Australians to comprehend. In evaluating both Australian and International legal systems and how effective they have been in addressing justice for our indigenous people, the starting document is the Australian Constitution. Our Constitution conspicuously fails to recognize the rights of Australia s indigenous peoples. No indigenous Australians were involved in the development of the Constitution. In the 20th Century indigenous Australian children were forcibly removed from their families under Acts of both Federal and State governments. This practice occurred between approximately 1905 and 1969. These Acts of Parliament were clearly discriminatory and created what became known as the stolen generation . In 1962 the Commonwealth legislated to ensure indigenous Australians had

The contribution of a forensic psychologist plays a critical role in the process of many crime investigations. The most important task of a forensic psychologist is conducting psychological assessments of any suspect involved in a crime case, including children. For that reason, a forensic psychologist must have a strong foundation of both clinical skills and law training (Ward, 2013). III.Battered Woman Syndrome One of the most common defense arguments used in domestic violence homicide crimes, is the act of self defense due to battered woman syndrome (BWS). Battered woman syndrome is a theory that was developed by clinical psychologist, Dr. Lenore Walker during the 1970 s. Her approach towards BWS explains why battered women kill their abusive partners, instead of ending the relationship. According to Dr. Walker, many victims of domestic violence find it difficult to end an abusive relationship due to learned helplessness (Rodgers, 2017). Dr. Walker also discovered that most women with BWS follow a pattern called The Cycle of Violence . She explains that the cycle consists of three different stages: The tension building stage, the acute battering incident stage and the honeymoon stage. In the first stage, victims cover up for the partner s abuse toward family and friends. This leads

They are even considered as the others from men, not the one . This implies the idea of women being object in contrast to men being subject. de Beauvior says that this power inequality comes from the women s historical economic dependence on men. In East St. Louis there is the financial and community/environmental problems like not having garbage collection transporting hazardous waste, how useless the government body, or more importantly how there is not a good, sufficient amount of qualified teachers. For example he mentions in the fourth paragraph that schools in Camden do not have windows, ceilings, or working fire alarms. These students are not only suffering financially but also physically because the can not even receive medical treatment. He really grabs our attention when he says that the neighboring area children are doing just fine, so these kids see how they are not worth the money to help keep them going when the other kids are. We believe everything he says and take it to heart because he gained his credibility by mentioning that he himself was an educator. He was a teacher at an inner city middle school. He talked about how even when he was a teacher that he could not even have a classroom for the kids because there was no funding. He also uses ethos by telling us that he took time off work to go around the world going to inner city schools, interviewing people getting the dirty truth in how the education system really

They stabilize oil in water emulsions by forming an interfacial membrane where the adsorbed proteins unfold and rearrange their secondary and tertiary structures to expose hydrophobic residues to the hydrophobic phase (MacRitchie, 1978). Plant proteins are low cost, non toxic, natural, biocompatible, and biodegradable polymers. In recent years, plant proteins have drawn increasing attention from the food and pharmaceutical industries as an alternative to animal proteins due to increased consumer concerns over the safety of animal derived products (e.g., prion diseases) (Liu et al., 2010). Among the chemical treatments, pH shifting is a relatively new method that adjusts the pH of a protein solution to extreme basic or acidic conditions to unfold the protein, followed by changing the pH back to neutral to refold the protein. This unfolding refolding process has been reported to effectively modify the protein functional properties (Jiang et al., 2010, Lee et al., 2016). High intensity ultrasound or power ultrasound refer to sonic waves that are at frequencies higher than sound audible to the human ear, with sound intensities in the range of 0.1 1 W/cm2 (Feng and Yang, 2011). The mode of action of ultrasound induced protein structure modification is often attributed to acoustic cavitation. The physical forces produced by cavitation, such as shear forces produced by micro streaming and normal impingement from the water jets at the solid liquid interfaces, help to break down the protein particles or aggregates in dispersions (Lee et al., 2016). Conventional ultrasonic modification of protein functionality is performed at relatively low cavitation intensities. Consequently, a relatively long treatment time, i.e. 15 30 min for soy proteins (Hu et al., 2013) is required to produce meaningful changes in protein structures. There is a

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Growing up in Lincolnshire, Somersby, Tennyson faced a troubled childhood plagued by insufficiency and neglect. The severe physical and moral degradation of his father and brothers left Tennyson a disgusted disposition with the world. These factors contributed significantly to Tennyson s desolate attitude which was later displayed in his works. Later in life, while attending college, Tennyson experienced a great tragedy the death of his best and beloved friend, Arthur Hallam. This travesty produced in Tennyson profound spiritual depression, and he vowed to refrain from issuing any more of his verse for a period of ten years. During these ten years, he continued writing though without publishing his works. • 48. Outline and Evaluate the Behavioural Approach to... Outline and Evaluate the Behavioural Approach to Psychopathology The behaviourist approach assumes that all behaviours are learnt. It suggests that there are three ways in which this learning can happen, these are classical conditioning, operant conditioning and social learning. The first method is classical conditioning this is when behaviour is learnt through association; via a stimulus and a response. This is an explanation for phobias, an abnormal behaviour can be learned by associating an environmental stimulus; a dog, with a biological response; fear and pain when bitten by the dog. Therefore, every time a person previously bitten by a dog sees a dog, they experience the same fear they felt when being bitten. Thus, the person would... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The behaviourist approach focuses on the present behaviour of an individual and not take into account on the past events, this is a strength as memory can sometimes not be reliable and the most fundamental aspect is the patient s condition and finding a cure to prevent it rather than focusing on the cause. For example, in the case of phobias, this approach attempts to unlearn it rather than find the cause. However, this may only temporarily cure the phobia as the cause is unidentified due to this approach. Another strength is that there are practical applications. The model suggests that abnormal behaviours are learnt, thus the best way to treat it to unlearn faulty learning. This suggests that this model can improve the quality of people s lives, for example desensitisation can be used to treat those with phobias. A weakness is that this approach doesn t establish the cause of abnormal behaviour. Critics say that just because abnormal behaviour can be changed by therapy, it does not mean that it was learnt. For example therapy can lead an anorexic person to put on weight, this does not mean they are cured, because they will never reach the optimum of their health due to the underlying cause of anorexia still being there. This weakness suggests that this model is not always scientific. Another weakness is that this approach is reductionist because it overstates learnt factors in abnormality and ignored other factors

Darwin (1860) never attempted to find a clear location of animal instinct but rather, compared instincts to malleable, habitual experiences carried across individuals of similar species (p.207). He concluded that natural selection could play a role in the gradual development of instincts, and theorized that variations of competing behaviors among different animals result of this phenomenon. In, The Organism and its Behavior, Krout (1933), relays Darwin s attitudes of instinct, who spoke of instincts as chains of reflexes but treated them as mental faculties , which impel animals to perform certain actions (p. 87). Today s ethologists take Darwin s approach to instinct, and emphasize the role of experience in shaping human behavior. Fear, a trait observed by Darwin in various species of birds, is certainly an instinctive quality, as may be seen in nestling birds, though it is strengthened by experience, and by the sight of fear of the same enemy in other animals. But fear of man is slowly acquired (Darwin, 1860). The natural world, according the Darwin, has a direct effect on the everchanging traits of an organism, whether habitual or instinctive. The constant shift of environmental factors influences humans and nonhumans to form habits, and potentially, instincts. This comparative approach has opened the doors to new ideas about behavior in humans

  • 54. Greed In The Pardoners Tale Throughout literature, relationships can often be found between the author of a story and the story that he writes, whether intentional or not. In Geoffrey Chaucer s story, Canterbury Tales, many of the characters on the pilgrimage make this statement evident with the tales that they tell. Such a distinct relationship can be made between the character of the Pardoner and the tale that he tells. Through the Prologue to the Pardoner s tale, the character of the Pardoner is revealed. Although the Pardoner displays many important traits, the most prevalent is his greed. Throughout the prologue, the Pardoner displays his greed and even admits that the only thing he cares about is money: quot;I preach nothing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although the Pardoner is extremely greedy, he continues to try and teach that quot;Avarice is the root of all evil quot; (6). He explains to the pilgrims how money is the root of all evil, and then he takes the money from them in exchange for forgiveness of their sins. This action could be seen in two ways. Perhaps the Pardoner is a very greedy, trecherous man, or perhaps Chaucer is trying to jab at Christianity by alluding to Christ. The characters in his tale display great hypocrisy as well. As the tale begins, the friends all act very trustworthy and faithful towards all of their friends. They nobly make a decision to risk their lives while trying to slay their friend s murderer. As they talk about their challenge, they pledge quot;to live and die each of them for the other, / As if he were his own blood brother quot; (241 242). At the end of the tale, the quot;brothers quot; begin to reveal their true nature. They all turn on each other in an attempt to steal the treasure for themselves. All of the loyalty, which they had pledged, was simply a lie and no faithfulness remained. While the two older quot;brother quot; plotted to kill the younger, the younger quot;brother quot; plotted quot;to kill them both and never to repent quot; (388). Thus, these so called faithful quot;brothers quot; display their true ruthlessness and reveal their hypocrisy in relation to the

  • 56. Ethics Of The Bolam Test When a doctor provides a patient with insufficient information, a alternative action may lie in a claim for negligence for breach of duty of care towards the patient. In the landmark case of Sidaway v Board of Governors of Bethlem Royal Hospital, the House of Lords held that the legal standard to be relied upon while assessing whether a doctor was negligent in relation to rendering advice about treatment was contained in the Bolam test . As per this test a doctor would not be held to have acted negligently if he acted in accordance with a reasonable body of medical opinion. The majority in the Sidaway case rejected the approach adopted by Lord Scarman who was of the view that the law must recognise the duty of the doctor to warn his patient... This general duty is not subject to dissection into a number of component parts to which different criteria of what satisfied the duty of care apply, such as diagnosis, treatment or advice . The Bolam test has therefore been treated as laying down a principle of English law that is comprehensive and applicable to every aspect of the duty of care owed by a doctor to his patient in the exercise of his healing functions with respect to that particular
