Lily Bart s Motivations
The motivations of a story s protagonist are the main driving factor behind plot settings, conflicts, and
resolutions. For better or worse, the desires of the main character shape the world a story is set in.
Their motivations lead to conflict that creates a canvass for an author to paint their message.
Ultimately, the resolution of those conflicts come about because of the drive the main character
possesses to fulfill their motivations and desires. The main characters in Edith Wharton s House of
Mirth and H.G Wells s The Invisible Man, Lily Bart and Jack Griffin, both posses very different
ambitions that lead them into unique conflicts, but both end up with similar, tragic resolutions. Lily
Bart, an entitled, down on her luck socialite ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although both stories take place thousands of miles away from each, in different parts of the world,
the machinations of each character take them too many different places, where key conflicts occur
allowing the author to deliver a message to the audience. In The Invisible Man, Jack Griffin s
motivations of scientific pursuit and acclaim lead him through many parts of England. These different
locations and subsequent situations allow H.G. Wells to symbolically deliver a message on politics
and economics. According to Paul Cantor, author of The Invisible Man and the Invisible Hand: H.G.
Wells s Critique of Capitalism,
Though Griffin s invisibility has scientific causes, it largely has economic effects above all, on the
movement and transfer of money. To put it bluntly, the chief use Griffin makes of his invisibility is to
rob people of their cash.

Snake Venom
Intro Each year around 1 million people world wide are bitten by snakes, and around 30,000 to 40,000
of the snake bite victims die from the venomous injection of a venomous snake. Of the 2,000 species
of snakes, about 400 are venomous. The cobra, coral snake, and rattlesnake are common examples of
venomous snakes. (Snake2). Knowing this information and more can possibly save yours or
somebody else s life when put into a situation when you have been bitten by a snake and can t identify
it, this paper will educate you on what to do in case of a snake bite and how the venom works on the
human body. Snake bite the wound made by the fangs of a venomous snake or the teeth of a non

Human susceptibility to snake venom is generally estimated from the LD50 for rodents. The next
factor in assessing the danger of a partiticular species of snake is the dose of venom that is actually
introduced into the tissues. Some types of snakes have an extremely efficient mechanism of injection
venom with a sing strike; others have poor success in doing so. The amount of venom produced by
snakes that is available for secretion with a bite also varies between kinds of snakes, and between
individuals (usually by size) of any one species (reptipage 1). Symptoms of venomous snakebites. The
symptoms vary not only with the type of venom injected, but also with the amount. A snake may
release no venom at all, or it may release as much as 75% of the total amount stored in its venom
glands. Often when a snake bites in self defense, it injects less venom than when it attacks its prey.
The physical condition of the victim and the location of the bite also affect the severity of the
symptoms. A bite into a muscle is less dangerous than a bite into a blood vessel, for example, because
toxins in the blood are quickly circulated through the body. General symptoms of snakebite include
localized pain and swelling soon after the bite occurs, followed by nausea, tingling or numbness,
weakness, and shortness of breath. If victims do not receive treatment within a few hours, they may
suffer convulsions, fall into a coma,

neutral neck posture.
2. Neck Posture: Neck posture involved forward bending/flexion while glancing downward at the
keyboard/mouse, and viewing paper documents on the desk surface. It was noted that the instructor
does not wear bifocals or progressive lenses, hence there was no need to adjust the monitor tilt angle.
Twisting and tilting of the neck was observed when the instructor turned her head to improve viewing
angles at the workstation of both monitors.
3. Chair Height: While perform a task on the workstation, it was observed that the instructor s feet
were not flat on the floor when sitting on the chair. The chair was adjusted to the point at which the
feet were flat on the floor. A re assessment showed that the instructor s elbows were not at right angles

keyboard.
4. Chair Seat Pan: The distance between the front edge of the seat and the back of the knees was
greater than 2 4 finger widths. This could result in contact stress between the back of the legs and the
pan of the seat.
5. Keyboard: The flaps of the keyboard were noted to be extended, this created a recline and angle

Analysis Of Blessing By Puanani Burgess
Jennette Walls once said, When God closes a door, he opens a window, but it s up to you to find it.
After reading the article Blessing Revealed by Puanani Burgess, this quote is the first connection that
emerges in my mind. The closed door represents the difficulties or disabilities that we have to face.
And the window represents our opportunities for succeeding; discover what your strengths are and
how you can utilize them as a weapon are the most significant. Everything is earth has two sides
which are the good and bad. For instance, the boy from Puanani Burgess story has screwed up with
the fact that he is having trouble with reading as well the math stuff in the beginning. After meeting
with Puanani, he has discovered that his gift is the ability to call the fish and communicate with them.

My situation was similar to the boy s story from Puanani s story, and he has struggled with reading
and solving math problems. The difficulty of speaking and learning English has isolated me from
others. Making new friends and learning things in school are extremely rough as an English language
learner. I still remember the fear of getting lost in the strange place during my first week of school as a
Middle school kid here in American. The place where I lived is like 15 minutes walking distance from
the school. One day I was walking home from school and somehow I got lost. Without a cell phone
and not known the street from where I lived were extremely scared for me. I was only able to speak
very little English at that time, and that restricted me from asking for help from others. Having trouble
finding my way home on a cold and snowy day was the worst. I used to hate the fact that I am an
immigrant and only speak very little English, however, this has become something that I would

Marble Metamorphic Rock
Marble is a metamorphic rock. Marble is placed among the oldest part of earth crust. Marble is a
translucent stone that allows light to enter and produce glow. Marble is non foliated and uniform in
structure. Marble is primarily white in color. Pure marble is composed of mineral calcite. (Nave) It is
available in many other colors as well. Impurities in marble give it different colors ranging from white
to black. (Nave)These impurities are present at the time of formation of marble. Marble is a beautiful
and relative soft stone. Since ancient times marble is part of flooring and statue making. Now a days it
is used as building material especially for bath tubs and sink tops. Marble is a very hard rock than its
parent rock. This makes polishing marble easier and a useful material for construction. (Metamorphic
Rocks)
Marble is made up by the regional metamorphism of dolomite and limestone rock. A lot of pressure
applied to the limestone over a very long period of time form marble. High temperature and pressure
turns limestone crystal into smaller, finer and harder crystals. Extended duration of metamorphism

The Davinci Code Essay
When a military accountant connects some missing weapons with the murder of two generals seeking
peace, she won t stop until she exposes the people behind it even if it means going to the top.
BRIEF SYNOPSIS
One of a few female soldiers stationed at an American outpost in Iraq, Sergeant Macy runs the unit s
accounting office. She is obsessed with balancing the books to the penny. She discovers an entry for
some weapons that are not accurate. The weapons were ordered and delivered but some are missing.
Macy investigates with the help of her staff, Kovac, Johnson and Clairmonte. She brings it up to her
commanding officer, Major Lee. He orders her to falsify the records and shut up. Macy goes against
orders and continues to investigate. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Macy makes a strong moral choice and decides to investigate. It works. Action films, however, depend
on strong action and a fast pace.
FRIENDLY FIRE would benefit from picking up the pace. Given the overture and the missing
weapons, it s clear what is at stake. The viewer is waiting for the story to start and for her to find the
murderers. However, the script drags out Act I.
It s understood Macy is a bean counter; it s an interesting take on military action hero. The DaVinci
Code and the TV series The Librarians have academic driven heroes, too. They work because the story
isn t weighed down by day to day activities, paperwork and emails. FRIENDLY FIRE would benefit
from less paperwork and more action.
In a 90 page action script, the set up needs to move quickly. Stronger, condensed structure would help
pick up the pace. Consider moving the Act II break up, maybe closer to page 15 or 20. Look for a
break that is visual and shows the viewer what Macy is up against.
Strong Act II breaks need to show a change from the hero s ordinary world to the new world. It s hard
to see any difference in Macy s worlds. The first half of the script seems to be one long Act I making it

Riba Plan Of Work
Strategic Definition is a stage in the RIBA Plan of Work 2013. Precisely this is Stage 0 of the plan
where there are many tasks. In the first task bar called the core objectives task, the architect is required
to identify the client s Business Case and Strategic Brief as well as other core project requirements.
The Business Case shows the reason for beginning a project or task. It is a mix of objective and
subjective considerations. The Strategic Brief is the brief prepared to enable the strategic definition of
a project. The strategic considerations may include considering different sites or deciding whether we
to extend, refurbish or build new projects. The second task in the Strategic Definition stage is
Procurement. At this stage, the architect needs to have initial considerations for building the project

Figurative Language In Macbeth
Marjorie Garber immediately evokes her insight of Shakespeare s work Macbeth in the book
Shakespeare After All. The first couple of paragraphs interprets the meaning of the witches dramatic
role in this creative work. In addition, fate was symbolized in a human and nonhuman form a
persuasive psychological reality of their own , according to Gaber. She also strongly suggests that
equivocation is the running theme throughout the play. Garber s idea that Shakespeare s had the ability
to bring forth ambiguity while connecting the plot emulating real events during Queen Elizabeth and
King James I reign in the 17th Century through figurative language. The play s quality has the ability
to be opened to more interpretations as well by displaying a political trend of the 21st Century. ...

I can argue that Starnes disagreement displays the open interpretation of his Trump s rhetoric, in
addition to the mistrustful undertone from the opposing political party. Macbeth s valiancy, and
trustfulness would have had no basis of argument in Duncan s sensible conclusions just as Todd
Starnes from Fox News. This allows for two open interpretations of that slogan. In another article,

Living with my single mom might have played a huge role in the way I perceive men. Seeing my
mom focused on her job and me, I feel like a boyfriend isn t her priority. Making it to where I also
believe that I don t need a man to be happy. Then I visit my day twice a year, and I see him in a happy
marriage with his wife of 15 years. I feel this desire to be in a relationship as real and as loving as that
one but then I go back to my mom and realize that I don t need anyone. It s like a constant battle
between, wanting to be single and wanting to be with someone. I ve always viewed boys the same
way I view everyone else; humans. Not special, not gods, just people with a different anatomy that I m
supposed to obsess over. I was never one to feel the need to be in a relationship, and devote all my
time to a relationship that probably won t last outside of high school. I always felt the need to focus on
myself first. Plus, all the boys in school seem to be focused on one thing; sex. Call me a prude, but I
ve never felt the need to give up something so intimate with someone that I m not in love with. I don t
waste my time on fake feelings, just to impress and brag about the fact that I m with someone. I don t
need to depend on the comfort of a man like some women do. Now that I m in college, I definitely see

Stonewall Riots Research Paper
The Stonewall Riots
Obviously, the gay community will not stop to remember the major events leading to gay liberation in
the U.S. Those who witnessed the June 28, 1969 violent demonstrations by a group of gays at the
Stonewall Inn, located in the Greenwich Village near Manhattan, New York City, will forever
remember the impact of that early morning hours riots against police raid in the history of gay
liberation movement.
Greenwich Village is a known territory for sizable homosexuals; gays and lesbians. The huge numbers

During the last years of the 1960s, several movements were active, including the antiwar
demonstrations, African American Civil Right Movements, and the Counterculture of the 1960s.
These social movement groups together with the liberal environment of Greenwich Village, served as
the major influencers for the Stonewall riots.
The story of gay In the U.S. today is completely different from the way it was in the 1950s and 1960s.
During the 1950s and 1960s, gay people were only welcomed by a few establishments such as bars.
During that period, the Stonewall Inn, owned by the Mafia, was very popular among the downgraded

subdued the officers. Since the Stonewall Inn was the major place for male prostitutes, representative
of the transgender community, drag queens, and effeminate young men, they attracted a very huge

Essay about Problems with Interpersonal Communication
What, what did you say? I often find myself saying this when talking with children. The likely culprit
of why is poor listening habits. Most people spend mere time listening than they spend on any other
communication activity, yet a large percentage of people never learn to listen well. (TLSC, 2008) The
above example is what I like to call pseudo listening. People will be thinking about something else but
appear to be listening and only get about half the intended message. Recently at my father s (Ron)
company because of a pseudo listening instance a $400,000 dollar piece of equipment did not get

X received very vague information from the engineer at Company B. Mr. X relayed this wrong
information to the planning department at Ron s company. In the end this resulted in the final product

Mr. X listen to what was being quoted and asked for more concrete information the entire situation
would have been different. During the listening phase if Mr. X had been truly engaged he would have
realized that the placement of the welds was specked on the wrong spots. They were about ½ inch off,
nonetheless it was incorrect. Rather he focused on getting this other job so he was thinking about that
instead. The result of the project was Company B didn t want to pay for the work and Ron was out $
400,000 dollars. Thus creating a negative affect on the business relationship however, this could have
been avoided with some good listening habits.
Improving the Situation A good listener wants to see how the facts explain the ideas and the evidence
supports arguments, and realizes facts are important only in relation to principles, ideas and
arguments. (Oregon State University, 2008) If Mr. X was using good listening habits he would have
gotten the message, decoded it then asked clarification questions. Which, would have resulted in Ron
and Company B both being satisfied with the product? One of the other factors I mentioned was Mr. X

communities in which the relations of power are equal and members treated as ends in themselves are

PARENTAL COLLABORATION IN EARLY INTERVENTION AND EARLY CHILDHOOD
SPECIAL EDUCATION
Parents frequently feel extremely defenceless when they start to utilize early interventions and
administrations; now and again solid emotions are near to the surface. Professionals ought to be
mindful of this and appreciate these sentiments. The principal assignment of any parent is to build up
a profoundly adoring, commonly fulfilling, and sustaining association with his or her youngster; the
aggregate child. This is critical for the purpose of both the child and the parent. Being a guardian is
fundamentally about being involved with their child.
The attributes of such a relationship are the parent must have a positive perspective of the child. They
must acknowledge and be fulfilled by, even commend, the youngster for who they are. The paternal
must get delight from the association with the child. The caretaker must feel skilful in the relationship.
Entry into the Early Intervention Program Short of having your child bite the dust, there is nothing
more pulverizing to a parent than to be informed that there is something the matter with your child;
your youngster is not ordinary. Parents contribution is a faith in the estimation of association that is
imparted by administration suppliers and families. The admission methodology is a troublesome time
for families as they are requested that distinguish and location their youngster s deficiencies. A few

The Importance Of Indoor Air Pollution
Julia Henderson

Project
Indoor air quality at Stanwich is important for the health and comfort of teachers and students.
Understanding and controlling common pollutants indoors can help reduce health concerns. There are
many things that cause air pollution in our building including paint, heating system, cleaning sprays,
furniture and other materials. These pollutants can cause allergies, scratchy eyes, skin irritation and
headaches.
An approach to reducing air pollutants inside building is the use of plants and soil microorganisms.
Outside air quality depends on plants and microorganisms. Living in buildings away from plants even
without being exposed to chemicals, still exposes us to human waste products that cause indoor air
pollution problems.
What Causes of Indoor Air Problems
The primary cause of poor indoor air quality are sources that release gases or particles into the air.
Poor ventilation can increase indoor pollution by not bringing in enough outdoor fresh air into the
class that reduce the emissions from indoor pollution. Also, indoor air pollution is not carried out of
the class area. High classroom temperature and humidity levels can also increase concentrations of
some pollutants.
Pollutant Sources
There are many sources of indoor air pollution. These can include:
Building materials and furnishings as diverse as:
Deteriorated asbestos containing insulation
Newly installed flooring, upholstery or carpet
Cabinetry or

Amitav Ghosh in Sea of Poppies published in 2008 looks back at the colonial period to show the
social, cultural, economic and ecological devastation done by European intervention in South Asia.
Ghosh states that the impelling policies of colonial powers alter the landscapes of the annexed
bioregions and economically plunder the communities. The research paper focuses on Ghosh s
concern over the commodification of nature at the hands of British colonialists. Sea of Poppies is an
account of the imposed opium monoculture in Bihar and Calcutta for the Chinese market responsible
for the enormous wealth of Britain. As such it is made clear in the paper that colonizers have always
imported and introduced cash crops in the annexed terrains by exterminating ... Show more content on

It throws light on the status quo of agriculture in India and emphasizes the environmental injustice
caused to the land and to the people. Though unwilling, people are forced to adapt this new crop
culture as Britishers would go from home to home, forcing cash advances on the farmers and their
forged thumbprint. The farmers are unwilling but bound to such contracts because if they refuse, the
British soldiers would hide the silver in their houses to prove them culprits and make them convicts to
be transported beyond the seas as indentured servants. In addition, their refusal to oblige leads to
forfeiture of their properties. The novel provides a vivid picture of the exploited farming class. Deeti
maintains that earlier they lived in harmony with nature. She yearns for useful crops like wheat, dal
and vegetables. These gestures of Deeti show a happy and symbiotic environment of the earlier times.
She is aware of the curse posed by monoculture. According to her, during winters, fields used to be
covered with wheat and after the spring harvest; the straw would be used for different purposes like
fixing the hut roofs. She realizes that it has been seven years since roof of her hut was last hatched.
She does not have money to buy a handful of straw. The Britishers have left the natives handicapped
by raising the price of small accessories like straw. Being

School Librarians Case Study
One of the new AASL Shared Foundations: Engage (2017) is that librarians implement organizational
policies and practices related to censorship, materials challenges, library records, and responsible use
of information resources (Shared Foundations Engage sect. para. 4). Subsequently, librarians
demonstrate their leadership capabilities through implementing and disseminating information to their
school on guidelines for students use of digital tools and library resources. Furthermore, librarians
have a critical role in ensuring that their school is complying with the Children s Internet Protection
Act. Moreover, school librarians are also responsible for ensuring that all students have equitable
access to diverse materials. Ultimately, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, as a school librarian, I also need to create policies that do not restrict students right to access
information from a variety of perspectives. Safeguarding and promoting students right to access
information on diverse and controversial subjects is also another component of my future policy for
students use of the Internet. Accordingly, I will need to verify that the blocking software that the
school uses is not blocking information specifically due to its controversial nature such as LGBTQ
issues, or contentious political viewpoints. The American Library Association asserts (2012),
Anything that restricts access to information based on viewpoint or content violates the First
Amendment (p. 23). Consequently, a critical component of my future role as a school librarian will be
verifying that the filtering software and the acceptable use policy of my school are not infringing upon
the students right to access information from a variety of viewpoints.
The digital divide has a pervasive and negative effect on students from lower socioeconomic
backgrounds. Subsequently, the policies and practices that I implement in the school library should
help alleviate the deleterious effects caused by students lack of access to digital resources.
Furthermore, by simply extending the hours that the school library is open, I can provide students with
greater access to assorted digital resources as well as Internet access. Equitable

Essay On Website Builders
DIY Website Builders are SEO Friendly or not?
A DIY website builder is a program that is accessible online (it is software) where you can sign up
using just your email address, and the program allows you to start inserting components such as text,
images, slideshows, etc., into a blank canvas so you can start populating your website. These websites
are the likes of Wix, Weebly, Google Sites, WordPress, blogger, etc.
Many people are complaining about the performance of website builders in search engines. Some
argue that it s impossible to rank well for them. The reality is that they are not excessively different
from other website development tools, what is important is how you use them.
Do It Yourself website building tools have been ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These visitors coming from your SEO efforts (also known as organic traffic) are free.
The search engine results are presented in a hierarchical order, and the higher you appear, the more
clicks and visits you get. There are already lots of websites fighting for organic traffic. Many of them
spend considerable time and resources to improve their search rankings.
One can as well improve his/her SEO performance with a website builder by considering few things
1. Web Technologies:
When speaking about web design technologies, I mean staying away from Flash (or at least using less
Flash) and using more digestible or engine friendly programming languages instead. You might be
shocked to learn that in ancient times, many website builders used to be exclusively Flash based
services (until Flash was proven to be SEO unfriendly). Take Wix for instance. It had been using a
platform based on Adobe Flash till March 2012. Since then it has been using HTML5.
2. On Page SEO Features:
While choosing a site builder, pay close attention to what we call SEO blocks or SEO packs. Usually,
these allow users to easily insert meta tags: title, description, and keywords. Website builders with
advanced SEO capabilities, H1 title tag
Meta description ( keywords if necessary), URL, Image names, Image descriptions, Canonical tags,

The Who Counterculture
The British invasion was responsible for internationalizing rock and roll, and has managed to
influence musical artists to this day. This musical movement of the mid 1960 s was composed of
British groups combining the rebellious tone and image of American music, with their own British
style. I believe this music pushed free speech to new heights in America. Music of this time period
was revolutionary and expressive, and transports me to an inspiring generation that existed before my
time. My Generation The Who https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=594WLzzb3JI This British rock

The bass and drums then join in, followed by the vocals of Mick Jagger calmly repeating the title of
the song. The song has a rebellious tone as Jagger increasingly sings with more force loudly with
sexual inferences and protests. The tambourine, electric guitar, drums, and electric bass capture the
rebellious spirit, as the chords of the song alternate between four simple chords. The lyrics are
repetitive and simple and often connect with Richards significant guitar moments. The texture is
homophonic with background vocalists and instruments accompanying the lead singer. The song ends
as it begins, with the words I can t get no satisfaction yet now with a forceful shout as the song fades

Politics And Endorses Lindsay Lohan
Lindsay Lohan decides to enter politics and endorses Hillary Clinton but ends up not making sense. Is
she hinting that she s going to run for United States President in 2020? Lindsay Lohan has had her fair
share of ups and downs these past few years and most of them have not been very positive in her light.
While it is not strange to see celebrities endorsing a presidential candidate in the world of politics,
things can often go wrong. Take for instance her latest post on her Instagram account. She posted a
picture of Hillary Clinton with a text quote from one of Clinton s speeches where she speaks about
losing sleep over the Benghazi and her obsession with what she could have done to save those who
sacrificed their lives. And in true Lohan

Jamaica American Culture
A time I remember going to a place that was different from anything I ve ever experienced before, was
Jamaica. I ve been to other places around the world, but Jamaica was an entirely different experience.
I ve never been to Europe, but I ve been to Mexico, various spots of Canada, everywhere in the United
States, most of the Caribbean, and all the Virgin Islands (U.S. and U.K). To start with Jamaica s
roadways are the opposite of the United States. The people were different as well. The clothing attire
they wore was way different from what I was used too. When I say being used to, I mean a sort of
ethnocentrism (Wood 169). If I viewed it as different (stereotype; Wood 47), then I was used to
something else, but considering I was in a different ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I remember mostly the clothing of the culture because it was very bright and gave a tropical feel. This
was the physical appearance (Herkova PP Chap 7) (Wood 98) I saw. The proxemics (Herakova PP
Chap 7) (Wood 101) between people in that culture were closer than I was used to. This refers back to
ethnocentrism, different isn t bad, it is just an interesting change. Ultimately this goes back to my
direct definition (Wood 186), my mother was always open to other cultures, understanding (Wood
172) and embraced them. I was taught not to be narrow minded, having respect (Wood 172), and to
have tolerance (Wood 171) toward other cultures. Another part of this experience was the language
this culture spoke. They had their own native language, but spoke English. When they spoke English,
they spoke it extremely fast and it wasn t the easiest to understand. Their paralanguage (Wood 104)
wasn t something I was used to either. The way I responded to them, was to slow down my own
paralanguage and to speak more clearly without using any slang. This was so I could communicate
with them without any interference. This made the verbal communication (Wood 67) I used much
easier to understand for them. I relied on the low context communication style. Which refers to very
direct, explicit, and detailed type of communication (Wood

Gang Life By Robert J. Duran Essay
The book, Gang Life in Two Cities by Robert J. Durán to put simply is about the gang life in Denver,
CO and Ogden, UT. Durán wrote this book to share his research findings. When Durán had to move to
Huntsville, UT (but went to school in Ogden) he found himself immersed in an area where gangs were
becoming popular. Durán, an ex gang member himself was curious on how and why gangs operate. He
found this research important, because he saw firsthand how society had a role in the formation of
gangs. Duran felt that it needed to be brought to light what he witnessed while being a gang member
himself and when he conducted his research. This book was different than other literature that had
been produced, because Duran was able to get closer and inspect the deeper characteristics of gang life
and gang members themselves. This is something that other researchers in the field are typically not
able to accomplish. He took on the perspective of investigating what role racial oppression had with
the development of gangs. His perspective and his ex gang membership background allowed him to be
more trusted by all the gang members that he interviewed for this research. As mentioned previously
Duran did conduct interviews as part of his data collection, but this wasn t his full methodology.
Duran used a multimethodological approach termed ethnography. Ethnography method allowed Duran
to gather historical analysis, non participant and participant observation, semi structured

Parsifal Richard Wagner Comparison
Richard Wagner was a German composer who revolutionized the opera genre of music. He composed
over thirteen different operas throughout his life, but some of his librettos wouldn t receive the credit
they deserve until long after his death. By composing his works with the unique style of writing the
music as well as the libretto, he was arguably ahead of his time while setting a new standard for future
composers to come. The similarities and differences between the first and last operas he composed
help to demonstrate the evolution of Wagner s music over time, while also showing what has remained
constant during his career. In comparing and contrasting Die Feen, one of his first works, with
Parsifal, one could hope to gain a better understanding ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It should be pointed out that Wagner spent much more time composing his final opera than he did on
his first. Wagner worked on Parsifal on and off for more than thirty years, while he barely spent a
fraction of that amount of time composing his first opera (Rovi). He finished Die Feen when he was
only twenty years old, clearly showing that he did not put as much time into trying to perfect his work.
His final opera, Parsifal, is often referred to as one of his best compositions, reflecting the amount of
time and effort he put into working on it before deeming it complete. It conveys that Wagner became
somewhat of a perfectionist later on in his career, as his mature works took longer to finish than those
he had composed when he was younger. Something else that should be noted, is that Parsifal is much
longer than Die Feen. Parsifal has thirty nine movements, while Die Feen only has twenty. This is
most likely due to the fact that Wagner took a longer amount of time before he finally came around to
completing Parsifal. Wagner introduced different arrangements in Parsifal that were unprecedented in
his previous works, such as the specific composition complementing the acoustics that are in his
Bayreuth theater. The complexity of his last opera is much greater than most of those that came before
it. Die Feen was his introductory piece that would serve as a stepping stone to where his career would
finally come to an end. Despite both operas, having a source of inspiration before their composition,
the content of these two particular operas shows no relation. Die Feen was inspired by a fantasy tale
that had to do with romance, while Parsifal was inspired by the epic poem that centered more around
religion. Finally, the uniquity of his last opera is made apparent by the use of the contrabassoon.
Wagner had implemented the contrabassoon one

Another Beautiful Day Interrupted
The sun is beaming down on I and coppers face as we take our daily walk, on the ocean shore in
Florida. The sun is a bright yellow surrounded with a blue sky, filled with clouds. The sand is
stretched alongside I and cooper; white and clear. Only my foot prints and coopers paw prints left
behind. The sand is very soft. My feet and coopers paws sink into it with every step. The salty ocean
air burns our noses. The waves sparkle and glitter from the sun beaming down on it. The ocean is a
dark blue color with white caps as far as we can see. The waves our small. Go get it Copper! I yell
throwing the stick into the the ocean. Cooper is a Labrador,he s been part of the family for 7 years
now. Cooper catches my eyes , he s holding something that is shiny. I can t tell what it is with the sun
in my eyes. It s most likely a can he s been bringing them back to shore lately. Come on boy! I yell out
to him, trying to encourage him to swim faster. I can now see what Cooper is holding , I was right it s
a can. For some reason I m curious to find out whats in the can. As he s a few feet away from shore, I
run to the edge of the water, the wind is blowing water across my ankles. Which you got Cooper? I
ask him as he looses grip of the can, letting it fall on the sand. Coopers barking as I pick up the can.
The cans label reads Del Monte Whole Kernel Corn . I straggle to open the can led It s sealed shut

High School Dropouts Essay
High School Dropouts
Entering high school is the beginning of a whole new learning experience. Transitioning from middle
school, high school presents more classes, students, and a bigger campus. It brings new expectations
and responsibilities to each of us. High school also offers fresh chances to make new friends, try new
sports and activities, and really explore who we are as individuals. The goal is to maintain good
grades, score high on the SAT test, and keep a positive attitude so colleges and universities will accept
you. Of course it s not as easy at sounds, but it s achievable. It requires a lot of work and dedication to
every subject. Some students breeze their way through while others live in misery trying to pass their

Studies have also found that dropping out is more likely to occur among students from single parent
families and students with an older sibling who has already dropped out than among counterparts
without these characteristics. Other aspects of a student s home life such as level of parental
involvement and support, parent s educational expectations, parent s attitudes about school, and
stability of the family environment can also influence a youth s decision to stay in school. For
example, results from the NCES study found that students whose parents were not actively involved in
the student s school, whose parents infrequently talked to them about school related matters, or whose
parents held low expectations for their child s future educational achievement were more likely to
drop out.
Another reason why a lot of students drop out of school is simply because they don t like it. High
school, through its control over many decisions that are made for students, still seems to be restrictive.
Many aspects of a student s life are pre set and cannot be changed by the student to fit his needs. For
example, a student s time schedule is set every year. Every student must go the same amount of hours
every year. In most cases, school is from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. every day, whether he or she actually
needs all the time or not. Students have to spend more time in some filler classes that they think they
probably did not need to take but still had

History Of Mission San Juan Capistrano
The history of Mission San Juan Capistrano is similar to that of two other nearby missions in that it
was relocated to the San Antonio area from East Texas in 1731. Its purpose was also similar to that of
the other missions, namely to convert Native American groups to Christianity, assimilate them into
Spanish society, and promote settlement in the region. In addition to its early history, the mission
compound itself was constructed in a form typical of other San Antonio area missions, including a
church and plaza surrounded by a defensive wall formed from stone Indian quarters. The compound
included other ancillary structures such as a granary, convent, workshops, and other storage facilities.
Today the complex includes the ruins of the second

Differences of Cost Accounting and the Advantage of Activity Based Accounting
Cost and management accounting is an integral element in preparation of an entity s financial reports.
Cost accounting consists of various branches, including; job and process costing, absorption costing,
traditional costing and activity based costing. An efficient costing system allows managers and other
users of financial reports to make decisions to better the company, in reducing and streamlining costs,
to improve overall profits. The way in which managers achieve this can be a rigorous and time
consuming task, however, if a costing system can be perfected, productivity and general cost reduction
can be achieved and an overall more efficient operation of the business will ensue. This essay will
critically discuss factors in which a business consider in deciding on a costing system to implement
and operate when establishing a costing system. In this article I will describe the different methods of
costing, explain why I believe activity based costing is the most efficient method, and provide a real
world example to support my claim.
A costing system, by definition: Costing system is that system in which we calculate different costs
with different methods and also monitor cost for reducing wastage and misuse of resources.
(SVtuition.org, 2014) A costing system is made up of different elements which best suits a company s
operations. They have many elements that can be meshed into one

Reasons For The Failure Of Acculturation
Acculturation is a very significant issue of post colonial literature. Pakistan shortly after independence
divided into the phenomenon of regional identities and multiculturality which is a phenomenon of
acculturation. Multiculturality gave way to the formation of different ethnicities. The present research
paper is aimed to trace out the reasons for the failure of acculturation in South Asian context. For
analysis of the novel, the acculturist model of J.W Berry (1995) has been used. Berry proposes that
proper acculturation plays an important role in lessening social conflict. This paper purports that after
the partition Pakistan could not assimilate properly the different ethno linguistic groups in a unified

  • 2. Lily Bart s Motivations The motivations of a story s protagonist are the main driving factor behind plot settings, conflicts, and resolutions. For better or worse, the desires of the main character shape the world a story is set in. Their motivations lead to conflict that creates a canvass for an author to paint their message. Ultimately, the resolution of those conflicts come about because of the drive the main character possesses to fulfill their motivations and desires. The main characters in Edith Wharton s House of Mirth and H.G Wells s The Invisible Man, Lily Bart and Jack Griffin, both posses very different ambitions that lead them into unique conflicts, but both end up with similar, tragic resolutions. Human susceptibility to snake venom is generally estimated from the LD50 for rodents. The next factor in assessing the danger of a partiticular species of snake is the dose of venom that is actually introduced into the tissues. Some types of snakes have an extremely efficient mechanism of injection venom with a sing strike; others have poor success in doing so. The amount of venom produced by snakes that is available for secretion with a bite also varies between kinds of snakes, and between individuals (usually by size) of any one species (reptipage 1). Symptoms of venomous snakebites. The symptoms vary not only with the type of venom injected, but also with the amount. A snake may release no venom at all, or it may release as much as 75% of the total amount stored in its venom glands. Often when a snake bites in self defense, it injects less venom than when it attacks its prey. The physical condition of the victim and the location of the bite also affect the severity of the symptoms. A bite into a muscle is less dangerous than a bite into a blood vessel, for example, because toxins in the blood are quickly circulated through the body. General symptoms of snakebite include localized pain and swelling soon after the bite occurs, followed by nausea, tingling or numbness, weakness, and shortness of breath. The farmers are unwilling but bound to such contracts because if they refuse, the British soldiers would hide the silver in their houses to prove them culprits and make them convicts to be transported beyond the seas as indentured servants. In addition, their refusal to oblige leads to forfeiture of their properties. The novel provides a vivid picture of the exploited farming class. Safeguarding and promoting students right to access information on diverse and controversial subjects is also another component of my future policy for students use of the Internet. Accordingly, I will need to verify that the blocking software that the school uses is not blocking information specifically due to its controversial nature such as LGBTQ issues, or contentious political viewpoints. The American Library Association asserts (2012), Anything that restricts access to information based on viewpoint or content violates the First Amendment (p. 23). Consequently, a critical component of my future role as a school librarian will be verifying that the filtering software and the acceptable use policy of my school are not infringing upon the students right to access information from a variety of viewpoints. The digital divide has a pervasive and negative effect on students from lower socioeconomic backgrounds. Subsequently, the policies and practices that I implement in the school library should help alleviate the deleterious effects caused by students lack of access to digital resources. To start with Jamaica s roadways are the opposite of the United States. The people were different as well. The clothing attire they wore was way different from what I was used too. They had their own native language, but spoke English. When they spoke English, they spoke it extremely fast and it wasn t the easiest to understand. Their paralanguage (Wood 104) wasn t something I was used to either. The way I responded to them, was to slow down my own paralanguage and to speak more clearly without using any slang. • 26. Gang Life By Robert J. Duran Essay The book, Gang Life in Two Cities by Robert J. Durán to put simply is about the gang life in Denver, CO and Ogden, UT. Durán wrote this book to share his research findings. When Durán had to move to Huntsville, UT (but went to school in Ogden) he found himself immersed in an area where gangs were becoming popular. Durán, an ex gang member himself was curious on how and why gangs operate. He found this research important, because he saw firsthand how society had a role in the formation of gangs. Duran felt that it needed to be brought to light what he witnessed while being a gang member himself and when he conducted his research. This book was different than other literature that had been produced, because Duran was able to get closer and inspect the deeper characteristics of gang life and gang members themselves. This is something that other researchers in the field are typically not able to accomplish. He took on the perspective of investigating what role racial oppression had with the development of gangs. His perspective and his ex gang membership background allowed him to be more trusted by all the gang members that he interviewed for this research. As mentioned previously Duran did conduct interviews as part of his data collection, but this wasn t his full methodology. Duran used a multimethodological approach termed ethnography. Ethnography method allowed Duran to gather historical analysis, non participant and participant observation, semi structured ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 27. Parsifal Richard Wagner Comparison Richard Wagner was a German composer who revolutionized the opera genre of music. He composed over thirteen different operas throughout his life, but some of his librettos wouldn t receive the credit they deserve until long after his death. By composing his works with the unique style of writing the music as well as the libretto, he was arguably ahead of his time while setting a new standard for future composers to come. The similarities and differences between the first and last operas he composed help to demonstrate the evolution of Wagner s music over time, while also showing what has remained constant during his career. In comparing and contrasting Die Feen, one of his first works, with Parsifal, one could hope to gain a better understanding ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It should be pointed out that Wagner spent much more time composing his final opera than he did on his first. Wagner worked on Parsifal on and off for more than thirty years, while he barely spent a fraction of that amount of time composing his first opera (Rovi). He finished Die Feen when he was only twenty years old, clearly showing that he did not put as much time into trying to perfect his work. His final opera, Parsifal, is often referred to as one of his best compositions, reflecting the amount of time and effort he put into working on it before deeming it complete. It conveys that Wagner became somewhat of a perfectionist later on in his career, as his mature works took longer to finish than those he had composed when he was younger. Something else that should be noted, is that Parsifal is much longer than Die Feen. Parsifal has thirty nine movements, while Die Feen only has twenty. This is most likely due to the fact that Wagner took a longer amount of time before he finally came around to completing Parsifal. Wagner introduced different arrangements in Parsifal that were unprecedented in his previous works, such as the specific composition complementing the acoustics that are in his Bayreuth theater. The complexity of his last opera is much greater than most of those that came before it. Die Feen was his introductory piece that would serve as a stepping stone to where his career would finally come to an end. Despite both operas, having a source of inspiration before their composition, the content of these two particular operas shows no relation. Die Feen was inspired by a fantasy tale that had to do with romance, while Parsifal was inspired by the epic poem that centered more around religion. Finally, the uniquity of his last opera is made apparent by the use of the contrabassoon. Wagner had implemented the contrabassoon one ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Studies have also found that dropping out is more likely to occur among students from single parent families and students with an older sibling who has already dropped out than among counterparts without these characteristics. Other aspects of a student s home life such as level of parental involvement and support, parent s educational expectations, parent s attitudes about school, and stability of the family environment can also influence a youth s decision to stay in school. For example, results from the NCES study found that students whose parents were not actively involved in the student s school, whose parents infrequently talked to them about school related matters, or whose parents held low expectations for their child s future educational achievement were more likely to drop out. Another reason why a lot of students drop out of school is simply because they don t like it. High school, through its control over many decisions that are made for students, still seems to be restrictive. Many aspects of a student s life are pre set and cannot be changed by the student to fit his needs. For example, a student s time schedule is set every year. Pakistan shortly after independence divided into the phenomenon of regional identities and multiculturality which is a phenomenon of acculturation. Multiculturality gave way to the formation of different ethnicities. The present research paper is aimed to trace out the reasons for the failure of acculturation in South Asian context.
