Environmental Justice Essay
The United States Environmental Protection Act (hereinafter referred to as EPA) defines
environmental justice as the fair treatment and meaningful involvement of all people, regardless of
race, colour, national origin or income with respect to the development, implementation and
enforcement of environmental laws, regulations, and policies (Bullard 2005, 4). Throughout the world,
poor people and people of colour, who have the least political power and who are the most
marginalized, are selectively victimized by environmental crises (Bullard 2005, 6). Numerous
environmental groups have been formed over time e.g. the Green Belt Movement to combat this
injustice. On the other hand, environmentalism is more concerned with protecting the ... Show more

However, the EPA was never designed to address environmental policies that result in unfair, unjust
and inequitable outcomes. Officials of the EPA are not likely to ask questions that go to the heart of
environmental justice such as what groups are most affected by a specific environmental problem or
why are they affected or how could the problem have been prevented ? (Bullard 2005, 29).
The environmental justice framework was adopted on September 27th, 1991 following the First
National People of Colour Environmental Leadership Summit (Bullard 2005, 21). This seventeen
principle framework was extremely important at the time it was drawn up because it served as a
catalyst for bringing environmental protection issues to the core. The framework attempts to turn the
dominant environmental protection paradigm on its head by seeking to prevent environmental threats
before they occur. (Bullard 2005, 5). It incorporates the aims of other social movements that seek to
eliminate harmful practices in houses, health care, poverty and redlining especially for those living in
an urban ghetto or barrio (Bullard 2005, 25). Bullard states that the framework attempts to uncover the
underlying assumptions that may contribute to and produce unequal protection (Bullard 2005, 25).
One of its major principles is that all individuals have a right to be protected from environmental
degradation and some of the precedents for

The Effect of Manual Hyperinflation and Suctioning in...
A study was conducted to assess the effect of manual hyperinflation and suctioning in mechanically
ventilated patients to prevent the risk of ventilator associated pneumonia admitted in intensive care
unit of selected hospital, Belgaum, Karnataka A randomised control trial.
Background and objective:
Mechanically ventilated patients are increasingly at the risk of acquiring Ventilator associated
pneumonia (VAP) which is the leading infectious complication, affecting from 8% to 28% of patients
admitted in the intensive care units. Morbidity and mortality associated with the development of VAP
is high, with mortality rates ranging from 20 to 41%.Development of VAP increases ventilator days,
critical care and hospital lengths of stay. Essential airway management is one of the important
interventions to prevent ventilator associated pneumonia. Manual Hyperinflation (MH) enhances
clearance of airway secretions and thereby improved lung compliance, reduced inspiratory resistance,
improved V/Q matching, cleared airway and re expanding the collapsed alveoli. MH could resemble a
forceful cough, with which, sputum could propagate from distal to more proximal areas that is, from
the smaller airways toward the larger airways, where it can be easily removed through endotracheal
suctioning. Hence MH followed by suctioning is considered to be a suitable intervention to prevent
VAP among intubated and mechanically ventilated patients.
The objective of the study was to assess the effect

Case Study Of Agarwood
Introduction
As stated by the case study, we have just begun our new jobs as the conservationist of Aquilaria
malaccensis in Sarawak. So, what is conservationist? Firstly, conservationist is a person who works to
protect and preserve animals, plants, and natural resources. Meanwhile, A. malaccensis is a large
evergreen tree which can be found in mixed forest habitat usually 0 to 1000m above the sea level.
Thus, as the conservationist of A. malaccensis, we are the people who are responsible to protect and
preserve the A. malaccensis.
In addition, A. malaccensis is in the family Thymelacaeaceae where it is one of 15 tree species in the
genus Aquilaria. This species can be found in South and Southeast Asia which includes Malaysia,
Indonesia, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The local sectors such as () have to find efforts to overcome the high demand of agarwood s product.
Scientists from the sector need to do a research on the tree so that it can be cultivated in large scale
yield (Mohd. Paiz, K. 2006). Thus, production of the agarwood product can be increased, and at the
same time the Aquilaria trees can be conserved.
Question 5 One of the important requirements for a successful germplasm collecting mission is
planning. Planning is the essential to the success because detailed information about the target species
should be collected such as the distribution of the Aquilaria species, genetic variation within target
species, breeding system, seed storage characteristics, collecting techniques and background
information on physical, biotic and human environment. A collecting programme must have its own
flexibility. This is to allow missions to be undertaken or postponed at relatively short notice. The
mission also should be flexible enough to make changes in the itinerary at short notice in the

Ban Tobacco Advertising Is The Right Move
In 2001, the Government of India proposed a bill that would place a ban on tobacco ads to discourage
the use of tobacco products among the teenagers. This decision gave rise to a huge debate about the
ethical responsibility of the government on the use of tobacco products. In this analytical essay, the
arguments of the proponents that are both in favor and opposed to the ban will be summarized, while
discussing the conflict of interest that exists among the government and the tobacco companies.
Lastly, final thoughts and opinions will be provided of why the Government of India s decision to ban
tobacco advertising was the right move. This will be done in light of the case study found at
icmrindia.org titled Ban on tobacco Ads by the Government of India .
Those in favor
Those in favor put forth the argument that smoking kills millions of people every year and that these
figures are on the rise. Furthermore, that animated figures such as that of Joe Camel cigarettes is
enticing young children to take up smoking is a huge concern. They also point out the examples of
other nations which have deemed it constitutional to place such bans on tobacco advertising. They
claim that studies have shown that in these countries the consumption of tobacco products among the
younger crowd has dropped. It is also claimed that the ban itself won t hurt the economy because in
reality the revenue the government receives from the tobacco industry does not offset the costs it
creates.

The Messages Of Langston Hughes s Poetry
Poetry is a way for people to express themselves. Written in stanzas, there is much more art to it than
simply putting words down on paper so they sound nice. Poets keep in mind the syllable count, the
rhyme scheme, the order of unstressed and stressed syllables, and many more techniques, depending
on the type of poem. Also, every poem has a unique, powerful message. Langston Hughes was a
recent American poet who wrote countless quality works, many of which have an enduring impact.
On February 1, 1902, one of the greatest poets of the twentieth century, James Mercer Langston
Hughes, was born in Joplin, Missouri. His father left for Mexico when Hughes was one, and his
mother traveled to find work as a teacher, so he was raised by his grandmother. ... Show more content

He uses a free verse format, with only two pairs of rhyming lines out of eighteen lines. He utilizes two
single lines at the beginning and end, to introduce his thoughts and conclude them; a sestet, septet, and
triplet fall in between those lines, respectively. Regarding figurative language, Hughes uses the
metaphor, I am the darker brother, (Hughes) to symbolize his skin color. He writes about how black
people were constantly controlled by the superior white race. However, he eventually became
independent and slightly vengeful. This is demonstrated in the hyperbole, Besides, they ll see how
beautiful I am and be ashamed (Hughes). Finally, in the last line, Hughes uses America as a nation to
symbolize his race in the sense that black people are independent and still

Historical And Current Usage, And Control Mechanisms
The article in which I will review in this week s assignment was compiled by a number of authors.
The authors of the article are Zhenyu Li, Quan Dong, Thomas P. Albright, and Qinfeng Guo. The
article was published in 2011 inside the Biological Invasions periodical and is known as Natural and
human dimensions of a quasi wild species: the case of kudzu . It is located in volume 13 pages 2167
2179. I retrieved this article from the Atlanta University Center Robert W. Woodruff Library database.
Furthermore, this review of this article will begin with a brief summary. The summary will include the
introduction of Kudzu, historical and current usage, and control mechanisms. Following, there will be
a personal critic of the article which will include, why it was chosen, personal impression, and its
significance. In conclusion, there will be a brief discussion on the relationship between the article and
course. Kudzu, also known as pueraria montana, was first introduced into the United States from
Japan in 1876, it was planted widely throughout the states as an ornamental, for erosion control, a
source of starch, cloth, paper products, and as a fodder for livestock in the first half of the 1900s (Li,
Dong, Albright, Guo, 2011). As time progressed, the once desired plant evolved to a noxious weed by
the 1950s. The invasive nature that Kudzu displays beyond the United States has earned a place in the
listing of one of the 100 world s worst alien species (Li, Dong, Albright, Guo,

Art Building 1943-59
This essay will inform the contrasts of two very important art galleries built 9 years apart. The
Guggenheim, 1943 59, was built solely for Solomon R, Guggenheim to exhibit his collection of both
modern and contemporary art from around the world. This building in New York was said to be one of
the architect s most important public projects , the architect being Frank Lloyd Wright. The building
that will be put into contrast with the Guggenheim is the Neue Nationalgalerie in Berlin, 1962 68.
Mies Van der Rohe was asked to design this new gallery during the modernism period in an act to
revive the city of Berlin after the war as part of Kultureforum , a development of new cultural
institutions . The Guggenheim museum in New York is unlike any other art gallery/ museum in the
world. Its round, top heavy shape is something like no other and Wright prided himself on this artistic
integrity1. The section of the Guggenheim, shown in Figure 3, shows that the main exhibition spaces

facilities7. Figure 5 shows the revised plan for the Guggenheim. The Public and private spaces can be

90 Tickets Of Instant Noodles Character Analysis
The novel 90 Packets of Instant Noodles, written by Deb Fitzpatrick. The novel involves the act of
growing up and a twist of adventure. It is about a boy named Joel who gets sent off to solitary
confinement as punishment for a crime that has been committed. Through the book we examine how
each character faces an internal struggle or moral dilemma within themselves. The character Joel faces
moral dilemmas of friendship, guilt and not doing the right thing. In the novel, we also notice Joel s
father face internal struggles which involve his son being such a troublemaker because of the father
son relationship they have. Lastly, we witness Joel s best mate Craggs, who faces the internal struggles
of family and not being loved. All of the characters ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Craggs displays the internal struggle of family through direct characterisation. On pages 89 90 you
read Joel thinking about Craggs s family problems. From page 90 you notice how as all the shouting
an anger coming from inside is being made an all Craggs does is keep his little sister Hannah safe and
reassuring her everything will be okay. This shows us a more soft, sensitive side of Craggs. Craggs
doesn t have a stable home lifestyle from indirect characterisation which represents the way he acts
out, in order to gain his parents attention, instead of always fighting with each other. On page 157
Craggs say to Joel in the letter I had to lie on my release conditions and say I d be living with the old s
(as if that would ever help me), this signifies how Craggs thinks his parents don t care about him.
Another struggle Craggs face is the fear of not being loved. Craggs doesn t have any affection from
anyone besides his sister and Joel. He fears that he want ever be loved. In the text we read how Craggs
only friend is Joel and how Joel is the person Craggs can be honest and loyal too. But after the whole
incident Craggs fear he has a lost that sense of affection. All of his internal struggles associated in the
novel are presented throughout the whole

Plutarch s Influence On King Lear
Shakespeare had many influences. He was influenced by Geoffrey Chaucer and Plutarch.
Chaucer was known as the father of English literature and is considered to be the greatest poet of the
middle ages. Chaucer s work Troilus and Criseyde inspired shakespeare s play Troilus and Cressida
and Chaucer poem The Knights Tales sparked Shakespeare to craft The Noble
Kinsmen . Another influence was Plutarch, a Greek biographer and essayist, known primarily for his
Parallel Lives and Moralia. Shakespeare used North s translation of Parallel Lives as the primary
source of Antony and Cleopatra , Julius Caesar , Coriotanus , and Timon of
Athens . Not only did he have influences, he also influenced many writers today; such as Aldous

many more, colleges and institutions of higher education are highly vulnerable to be faced with
lawsuits. To provide legal counsel for the institution and those who are considered a part of the
institution, colleges and universities employ a general counsel. The general counsel at Baylor
University is tasked with, managing and supervising all legal affairs for the University (General
Counsel, N.D.). Two of the current lawsuits against the university are regarding alleged Title IX
violations based on how the university acted or failed to act when students reported sexual assault
claims. The purpose of this paper is to provide a brief overview of the Title IX cases that are currently
pending against Baylor University, examine the issue from a local standpoint while comparing the
University of Iowa and Baylor University s general counsels, and finally to discuss the impact of the
lawsuits at a broader level.
Baylor University is currently facing three separate Title IX lawsuits, all stemming from the university
s alleged inaction and mishandling of sexual assault reports (Perez, 2016). One lawsuit was filed by
one individual, while the second lawsuit was filed by three individuals, and the third was filed by one
individual. The five individuals filing the lawsuits are female identifying students and former students

Comparing Themes Used by Rudyard Kipling Essay
The White Seal , by Rudyard Kipling, explores the life of a young seal, Kotick, and the hardships he
faces in the vast ocean. Also examined are the individual experiences that Kotick must endure as he
becomes a leader and an adult. Though others do not agree with his actions, and it takes him many
years to reach his goal, he perseveres and succeeds in his dream, and becomes a model leader in the
process. The themes of bravery, leadership, individualism, and growth are used to depict the many
ways that Kotick evolves in the story.

When he could have been out playing with other seals his age, Kotick was avoiding shark attacks in
parts of the world that he had never been to before. Each of his experiences acted as a catalyst to his
growth process, making him stronger, and wiser than he possibly would have been otherwise. He went
to many different areas of the world to discover whether the island he imagined existed, and did not
give up, because an effective leader would not do that. Along the way, an old seal told Kotick of a
legend which said that one day a white seal would take all the others to a quiet place. To this Kotick
responded, I am the only white seal that has ever been born on the beaches (110). This knowledge
revitalized his courage, and made him even more determined in his efforts. The next year, Kotick, who
was finally an adult, decided to search one final time. Very close to giving up, he finally found what
he was looking for. His hard work and determination paid off with a great reward. Exactly as he hoped
it would be, the island was the perfect place for seals. He returned to the other seals with his great
vigor, but to his dismay not one of them believed him. This did not sadden, but instead angered the
now grown seal.
Kotick developed many leadership skills throughout the course of his life, and had to use the most
brutal that he knew to handle the insubordination that he encountered. In a fit of rage, he began

Lean burn refers to the use of lean mixtures in an internal combustion engine. The air fuel ratios can
be as high as 65:1, so the mixture has considerably less fuel in comparison to the stoichiometric

Heavy duty lean burn gas engines admit as much as 75% more air than theoretically needed for
complete combustion into the combustion chambers. The extremely weak air fuel mixtures lead to
lower combustion temperatures and therefore lower NOx formation. While lean burn gas engines offer
higher theoretical thermal efficiencies, transient response and performance may be compromised in
certain situations. Lean burn gas engines are almost always turbocharged, resulting high power and
torque figures not achieveable with stoichiometric engines due to high combustion temperatures.
Heavy duty gas engines may employ precombustion chambers in the cylinder head. A lean gas and air
mixture is first highly compressed in the main chamber by the piston. A much richer, though much
lesser volume gas/air mixture is introduced to the precombustion chamber and ignited by spark plug.
The flame front spreads to the lean gas air mixture in the cylinder.
This two stage lean burn combustion produces low NOx and no particulate emissions. Thermal
efficiency is better as higher compression ratios are achieved.
Manufacturers of heavy duty lean burn gas engines include GE Jenbacher, MAN Diesel amp; Turbo,
Wärtsilä, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and Rolls Royce plc.

How Is Booker T Washington Related To Education
Booker T. Washington and Education Throughout the life of Booker T. Washington expressed in his
autobiography, Up From Slavery, one element has remained the same through his influences,
education, public speaking, and teaching of others. This is the fact that one cannot succeed solely on a
book education, but must accompany this with that of an industrial education as well. He believed that
with this type of education, the black man could provide necessary services not only for himself, but
also for those in his community as well. Washington was born on a slave plantation in either 1858 or
1859 in Franklin County, Virginia. He grew up with his mother, his brother John, and his sister

About this same time a school had been stated in Kanawha Valley, a little town a few miles away from
Malden. This is where Washington began his book education. To attend the school, Washington, at
first, had to go to night classes due to his job at the salt mines. With a little persuasion, Washington
finally was allowed to attend during the day provided he worked from four o clock to nine o clock in
the morning. This education was very disorderly due to the fact he could not attend regularly.
Eventually Washington had to drop out of the school and continue working full time at the salt mines.
Washington continued working at the salt mines until he was able to work in the coal mines. The coal
mines paid a little more, but not a significant difference. It was here where Washington overheard two
men talking about a new all Negro school in Hampton, Virginia. In order to go to this school,
Washington needed to save money for clothes and traveling expenses. For this he worked in the house
of Mrs. Viola Ruffner, who turned out to have an ample affect on his life. The lessons that I learned in
the home of Mrs. Ruffner were as valuable to me as any education I have ever gotten since,

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Administrative Reports
Administrative Reports
Overview with tools, software, best practices and alternatives
What is an administrative report?
An administrative report is a document that presents the status and progress of certain work within a
team or a company.
Who does administrative reports?
An administrative report is usually done by a person with an administrative function. Common
examples are office secretaries and administrative delegates. Those with higher position such as
managers and supervisors are also eligible to create an administrative report.
Why do people write administrative reports?
Administrative reports are prepared to give the current status and progress of a certain project within a
team or a company. The report aims to note all aspects of the project within the team, including the

Since the reports inform team members about these existing or rising issues, they will be able to
strategize and develop a plan to counter and resolve such issues.
Disadvantages of administrative reports
While administrative reports help in the workflow of a team s project, it also presents some flaws.
Some administrative reports have inaccurate or incomplete information, which may adversely affect
the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of data. For instance, inaccuracy of the
numbers in an inventory report in an administrative report may affect the succeeding shipment of
products. Another example is a list of cases in an administrative report in a hospital. Failure to list all
kinds of cases may change the results when data are analyzed.
The other negative point in administrative reports is that some readers only read the end part the
summary, conclusion, and recommendation. It may sometimes end up the reader asking questions,
instead of reading the whole paper.

a society where there isn t any pornography. Another example is Sexism and violence toward women,

who created an environment that was use to violent and sexism so they try to put the blame on porno

violent or sexism, then why should we censor something that isn t causing any problems?
First Amendment is freedom of speech, press, religion, peacefully assemble. McWilliams states With
censorship, we find another conservative liberal division over which activity justifies bending the First

liberals generally want to censor violence. (1). He states

The data regarding all the factors that would help make a residential building that has a point to
connect with sustainability and generating an outcome which leads to a sustainable and eco friendly
building would be analyzed properly. This data analysis would ultimately make the best residential
building in which sustainable practices are being used.
Methods for data analysis are as follows
1. Describing and summarizing the data
The data needs to be described and summarized briefly in order to get an understanding about the

Industrial America from the American Steel Industry to the Early 1970 s
The steel industry has been profoundly important to the development of USA by its value of output,
input to the American manufacturing industries and in terms of the extent of its employment in the
past. It s been important because of its political clout of its corporations and finally it s been important
for strategic reasons.
Background to the American Steel Industry
The industry dates from mid 19th century when it grew out of the iron industry. There was huge
demand for steel following the end of the Civil War and the building of the great trans continental
railway. The industry centred in Pittsburgh where the classic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

transported the ores east wards through the Great Lakes. Technological advance allowed lower grade
taconite ores to be beneficiated and so enabled them to bear the transport costs to the steel mills

Demand for Steel: This continued to rise in aggregate throughout much of the first half of the 20th
century. The nature of the demand altered however. Much less steel was now needed for rails, but
structural steel became increasingly important as did rods, wire, tubes and pipes; steel was needed for
tinplate and also very significant amounts were demanded by the transport industries.
Organisation of the industry: At the turn of the century, there was much horizontal integration and
merger activity reflecting, amongst other things, a desire to reduce competition and to increase the
scale of enterprises. Some companies became involved in vertical integration, being particularly
anxious to secure their supplies of coking coal and iron ore (the US relied very heavily on indigenous

Cyber Deterrence And Its Impact On Western Europe
What is Cyber Deterrence? Merriam Webster defines deterrence as the act of making someone decide
not to do something or the act of preventing a particular act or behavior from happening (Merriam
Webster, 2015) . This can be applied to the cyber realm in the sense that we need to deter terrorists,
state actors and non state actors from attempting attacks on U.S. networks. To understand how to
apply cyber deterrence we have to look at past policies or theories on deterrence.
Deterrence theory first appeared as part of the West s containment strategy in Europe, which aspired to
keep the Soviet Union confined to Eastern Europe and to prevent it from gaining control of Western
Europe (Kugler, 2014). If the Soviets decided to invade Western Europe with the intentions to drive to
the English Channel, the United States could launch a nuclear attack not only on Soviet troops but on
the Soviet homeland as well. The strategy was aimed at deterring conventional attack on Western
Europe by convincing the Soviet government that an invasion would not succeed and that the Soviet
Union faced unacceptable risks: if it made such an attack, it would suffer losses that far exceeded any
benefits that it might hope to gain (Kugler, 2014).
Around the 1960s the deterrence strategy began to change. The Soviet Union began to develop nuclear
tipped ICBMs (Intercontinental Ballistic Missile) that could reach U.S. soil in a timely manner. This
could undermine the precarious logic of deterrence by

Difference between Dementia, Delirium and Alzheimer s
INTRODUCTION:
Delirium refers to confusion or acute confusional state of mind. It can be caused by physical illness or
mental illness .delirium is most common in elderly patients. Basically delirium is condition which
results in confusion, also includes changes in behavior, thinking, attention and mood.
Difference between delirium, dementia and Alzheimer s disorder:
People suffering from dementia are highly susceptible to delirium but dementia should not be
confused with delirium.
In dementia changes in memory occurs very slowly like in months and years.
Whereas delirium is more referred to confusion emerging over days and weeks.
CONDITIONS DELIRIUM DEMENTIA
ONSET Within a short time Worsen gradually overtime
ATTENTION Inability to maintain attention Remain generally alert at early stages
FLUCTUATION Symptoms fluctuate throughout the day Memory and thinking remain constant
throughout the day
CONCIOUSNESS reduced clear
SPEECH Slow or rapid Difficulty in finding words INVOLUNTARY MOVEMENTS Often tremors
Absent
Delirium is also different from Alzheimer s disease that in delirium confusion fluctuates over the day
dramatically. Thinking and conversation can be disorganized at any time, in delirium patient may
become hyper alert or drowsiness state can be occurred.
CLASSIFICATION OF DELIRIUM:
Clinically delirium can be classified as:
1. HYPERACTIVE DELIRIUM:
Occurrence: 30%

Alicia switching schools is a very important detail to include in this assessment I believe, it can say a
lot about how a person identifies different situations. It is sad how low Alicia perceives reading in
both categories. It is something she will never get away from and her dislike now, will only make it
harder in the future.
So What:
After reading that Alicia had recently switched schools and had very low reading recreational and
academic interests, my immediate thoughts were if the two were correlated. If Alicia, does not feel
comfortable in her new classroom and with new peers, she may not feel academics (such as reading)
welcoming to her. They may remind her of the thoughts she has at school and how she doesn t it like it

Analyzing The Product By Conducting A Due Diligence Plan...
Because the evaluation process is a critical factor in determining the systems, the process should
include various components. Some of the ways that I would evaluate the individual RFPs would be to
analyze the product by conducting a due diligence plan (Plan, 2011). The components involved in this
process consist of looking at demonstrations, conducting site visits, and doing check references
(Oachs Watters, 2016) (Plan, 2011). By looking at demonstrations, (whether they d be vendor fairs or
individual presentations) it gives the potential users the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the
system and thus makes the users feel part of the whole process (Plan, 2011). Additionally,
demonstrations allow for easy side to side system comparison which also eases the evaluation process.
By doing so, it can help the vendor have a clearer understanding of what the facility s specific
requirements are (Amatayakul, 2013). Furthermore, conducting site visits, allows the project team to
get real feedback about how the staff feels with new system and allows the potential buyer to see the
system in action (Oachs Watters, 2016). Furthermore, I would use reference checks to check the
credibility of the vendor (StratisHealth, Analysis, RFP, 2009). By doing so, it would allow me to have
a better visual as to seeing if the items listed on the RFP are things that can actually be accomplished
accurately and efficiently (Amatayakul, 2013). That said, in order to evaluate the system, other

In the poem, Numbers Man by Phil Kaye, a relationship is described by the narrator, an old laptop.
The relationship is between the laptop and its owner. As the poem goes on we begin to understand that
the laptop considered the owner as a close friend or possibly a significant other. He gave his face in

with it was special. The relationship was significant to the laptop, almost God follower like. Yet this
poem is about the narrator reminiscing about the owner using it. The owner had replaced the laptop

Fences Compare And Contrast
There are great actors and then there is Denzel Washington and Viola Davis. Even in films that have
not worked well or critics and/or audiences have poorly responded to, they command our screens,
steal away our attention, and make every line reading they give something worth listening to. In short,
there are in a master class of acting prowess few, if any, can hope to achieve.
With Fences, the two simply circle around one another impressively, just as they did on Broadway in a
2010 revival of the late playwright August Wilson s 1983 play. Both Washington and Davis won
Tonys for their portrayals of Troy and Rose Maxson, respectively, a husband and wife in 1950s
Pittsburgh. Troy works alongside his best friend Mr. Bono (Stephen McKinley Henderson) ... Show

It all ties into the film s claustrophobia and the fact, as Mr. Bono tells Troy, some people build fences
to keep people out and other people build fences to keep people in. And fences are everywhere. The
fence Rose wants built around the property. The fence that Troy wants to put around his son s dreams.
The fence that stops Troy from being happy for any accomplishment outside of his own. The fence
that limits Troy from watching his oldest son perform at a jazz club. The fences that Troy boasts about
hitting over, with the supposed countless number of home runs he hit in the Negro Leagues.
Fences is not going to uplift you or send you out of the theater with a Hollywood ending. The film, the
play really, lives deep inside the gut, conflicted through and through with how to express its characters
feelings and emotions. There is a raw, exposed nerve like quality to all of this which is equally
refreshing and uncomfortable to watch. And so, as the film finds a wider audience, some will
understandably recoil against this and, as a few people remarked when leaving the theater, come away
saying, I did not like this at

Van Gogh Motives
As humans have changed and progressed throughout history, so has their art from cave paintings to
Greek sculptures to the incredible realism of the Renaissance. In addition, throughout history art has
been questioned why did the artist make this? What are they trying to convey? What is the purpose,
the symbol, the reason? Every artist has a motive for creating, and it may be as honorable as
challenging a social injustice, or as mundane as a commission. The three most universal motives for
making art are for beauty, for money on commission, and to convey a message about the artist s
thoughts or emotions on a subject. Each of these motives can be influential, however conveying a
concept through art is the most powerful, as it has the ability to change the way society operates.
It is often said that art is meant to be beautiful for the audience. Artists follow this idea by making and
being inspired by beautiful objects such as nature or other people. One artist who displays this is
Vincent Van Gogh. Many of Van Gogh s paintings are based on the things around him, including
flowers, stars, or people. It is known that he was not on commission, as he only sold one painting in
his life. Although it is true that many of his paintings show great emotion, Van Gogh was not
specifically trying to say something, and any message in his paintings are assumed from his mental
illnesses. Although not considered beautiful in their time, Van Gogh painted to capture the beauty
around him. For

There are numerous disabilities that exist in the world today that can affect people s physical or mental

psychology s progress at providing more help for people with disabilities, they are still at risk for
discrimination and segregation in society. Even regardless of the societal barriers that exist against

Art or art therapy has the power to help people in general in terms of expression and combating
depression. This is due to the fact that it is a way for people to express themselves when they are
unhappy in a less direct and creative manner that allows them to experience a sort of release of
negative emotions. The creative process of art itself is unlimited and vast. Its ideology is solely based
on self expression, which is free and unrestricting. Moreover, artistic communities tend to be less
judgmental on whether the art itself is right or wrong (Zahovaeva, 2014). Thus, it can be seen that
these are good reasons why a person with disabilities might want to join the artistic sphere. Scientific
research has shown that art does have meditative effects where it renders stress to relaxation in a
person s physiology. In different researches, changes in brain wave patterns, autonomic nervous
system, hormonal balance and brain neurotransmitter have occurred as a result of listening to music
(Zahovaeva, 2014). Art in medicine is not a new concept, ancient rites of healing were performed hand
in hand with music, dance and drama to emphasize the healing process (Zahovaeva, 2014). Within the
context of disability studies, this proves to be greatly advantageous because art is both beneficial in
terms of its ability to affect psychological as well as physiological side of people. Rubinstein, a
Russian psychologist, claimed that

The Compensation Of Chief Executive Officers Essay
Introduction The compensation of chief executive officers and the methodology used to determine it
has become a major topic of debate in the business world. Many people wonder not only why and how
it has gotten to be so high, but also why it isn t distributed amongst other major contributors inside the
company, or even amongst the lower ranks of the workforce via an increase in wage rates. One of the
more recent theories that provides an explanation to the increase in the pay of chief executive officers
is the size of firms relative to earlier years in business development. Xavier Gabaix (2006, p. 50),
states that his, central equation predicts that a CEOs equilibrium pay is increasing with both the size of
his firm and the size of the average firm in the economy. This theory discusses largely that as the
scope of the economy increases, it is only natural that CEOs be compensated at a higher rate. The
reasoning behind this is that the CEOs are managing companies of higher value, and thus are in theory
putting more work and effort into their companies as well. Based off this theory, it makes complete
sense to do this. However, I have set out to see if I can discover any other concrete reasoning behind
these often astronomical salaries, and if so, determine if this reasoning is useful in determining salaries
across a wide range of industries and structures of very successful publicly traded companies. One of
the main reasons I wanted to take a look at both

Core Concepts and Theory in the Transpersonal Approach to...
ASSIGNMENT 2
What are some of the core concepts and theory when considering the transpersonal approach?
The work of the transpersonal draws largely from mainstream psychological concepts and theory in
order to ground its practice in science. However, unlike mainstream psychological paradigms, the
transpersonal acknowledges that our essential nature is spiritual (Phoenix Institute of Australia, 2012)
and that as human beings we have valid urges towards the spiritual (Phoenix Institute of Australia,
2012). The transpersonal approach is based on this notion of the spiritual self as the foundation for our
psychological structure of the self and therefore proposes that we exist simultaneously in a multitude
of realities, including ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It includes mystical, spiritual and religious experiences as well as sharing much common ground with
consciousness studies and humanistic psychology. Transpersonal experiences can be interpreted either
religiously or non religiously according to individual preference (Walsh, 1993). Founder of
Humanistic and later Transpersonal Psychology Abraham Maslow theorized that the approach of the
transpersonal does not oppose that of Freud; it offers a complementary viewpoint, which assists in
recognizing the full range and variety of transpersonal experience (Daniels, 2005) and focuses on the
human origins, significance and value of transpersonal phenomena (Daniels, 2005). Whilst
psychoanalysis was part of a biomedical, reductionist model which did not encompass the full
spectrum of states of consciousness, nor did it acknowledge the spiritual self, it provided a basic
framework for the psychological structure of the self, later understood by the transpersonal to rest on
the foundations of the spiritual self.
The notion of the psychological self and the spiritual self stems from the assumption of the
transpersonal that we exist simultaneously in multiple realities. The realities of the body, the mind, the
spirit, emotion, imagination and science are all part of a rich tapestry, which inform and shape our life
story or journey. Transpersonal work uses this

Literary Britic And Literary Criticism Of Arthur Miller

Arthur Miller has been nominated as one of the major dramatists of the twentieth century. He is an
American playwright, editor, essayist, and novelist who earned his reputation for more than sixty
years. He was a dramatist who believes to bring change to society by speaking about real issues that
occur in society. Miller best known plays are The Crucible , Death of a Salesman , All of my Sons ,

Defining Underachievement
Under achievement is a threatening position to educators and can be a disruptive force throughout
education systems. The idea of under achievement suggests that the systems is at fault because
students do not reach their potential under the guidance of that system. The purpose of this essay is to
analyze the idea or terminology of under achievement in the context of my specific teaching scenario.
I will present my argument by first, introducing literature that has been specifically enlightening
towards the subject. This essay will then highlight my personal experiences with this phenomenon in
my own class room and how certain experiences have helped me define what under achievement
actually is and can help me recognize its features in the future. Lastly, this essay will offer some
guidelines in fixing the problems that will be indentified in examining under achievement, and focus
on strategies that may be useful in improving this particular area of education and learning.
Defining Under Achievement Under achievement is a difficult idea to grasp in its entirety due to its
reliance on forecasted expectations. It is important to realize that educators are not prophets and
cannot successfully predict the academic success of students based on past performance. Although we
cannot fully capture, qualitatively what under achievement really consists of, this idea is better
understood in a subjective manner. Reiss (2009) suggested that there are six motives that can identify

The Ethical Considerations Of Children And Young People
Over recent years there has been an increasing approval in Britain and elsewhere that children and
young people should be involved more in decision making which may affect them. Recent years have
seen an increase on the focus of children s rights which include ways of getting young people and
children involved more directly in decision making that impact their lives. In research terms, this has
been mirrored in a linguistic shift from talking about research on to research with and now,
increasingly, to research by children and young people (Kimmel, A.J., 1988).
In this essay I will critically discuss the ethical considerations which are to be taken into consideration

The participation of Children and Young People (CYP) in research is placed within the framework of
an international rights based framework within which CYP were granted a right to have a say. Article
12 of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) states that all CYP who are
competent of forming their own views, have a right to articulate those views freely in all subjects
affecting them.
According to Robert Holmes (2006), the power dynamics between adults and children present an
important obstacle to the collection of high quality evidence from children. Of course, engagement
with children and young people is not always at an individual level. There are a variety of issues to
think about when engaging with young children. Children and young people may be shy around
unfamiliar adults, even at times even afraid, so it is important to find ways of making them feel safe
and secure. Explanations for adults having power over children and young people are willingly
established in materialistic and paternalistic declarations of looking out for the young children s best
interests, which is to protect them from harm. Most people including young children are in agreement
with the involvement of adults is necessary there are however some critics who question this. Roberts,
H. (2008) points out that power dynamics in children s participation are much messier than is often
explicated, and that power isn t something that children

How Archaeology Is The Base Of The Future
History is the base of the future. History is the whole series of past events connected with someone or
something in the future. History is a narration of the events which have happened among mankind,
including an account of the rise and fall of nations, as well as of other great changes which have
affected the political and social condition of the human race (John J. Anderson 1876). Events become
history when it travels the certain time interval and makes connections in the future. History is the
study of the past and the study of the ancient and the recent human past through material remains is
known as archeology.
Archaeology offers a unique perspective on human history and culture that has contributed greatly to
our understanding of both the ancient and the recent past. Archaeology helps us understand not only
where and when people lived on the earth, but also why and how they have lived, examining the
changes and causes of changes that have occurred in human cultures over time, seeking patterns and
explanations of patterns to explain everything from how and when people first came to inhabit the
Americas, to the origins of agriculture and complex societies ( Society for American Archaeology ).
Archeology include study of human artifacts which were made in the past and buried or thrown away

A player would get a penalty kick because the other player had done something to the other players.
We do throw in football because the ball has been kicked out of the pitch. A goal kick is a kick that the
goalkeeper takes when the ball passes over the goal line or back line. Corner happened because the
other team had the ball off. Badminton.... A match is the best of 3 games each of 21 points. A point is
scored with every serve. When a side is winning a rally a point is added to their score. When both
sides get to 20, the side that gains a 2 point lead wins. When both sides reach 29, the side that gets to
30 first wins. Single rule: When the person serving has an odd score, they serve from the left; an even
score they serve from the right. In singles, when a rally is won, the person who served wins the point
then serves from the other service court. If the person who did not serve wins the rally, they win the
point and then get to serve.A badminton court look like a rectangle and it had a square in the middle

Pre-Raphaelites Research Paper
The Pre Raphaelites were an unconstrained collective of English poets, painters, designers, and critics,
founded in 1848 by William Holman Hunt, John Everett Millais and Dante Gabriel Rossetti, whose
tenure lasted to roughly the turn of the century. As the name implies, the Pre Raphaelites aimed to
rediscover forms of art preceding Raphael, who they believed had been a corrupting influence on the
academic teaching of art which had become too artificial. Their initial focus was vague and
contradictory, violating conventional views of both proper style and subject. The distinctive elements
of their paintings, often created en plein air1, such as elaborate detail, evenly lit scenes, and profound
renditions of common literary subjects had set them

What Are The Negative Effects Of Humans Destroying The Earth
Imagine living in a desolate wasteland. In place of the forests that were once shelter to hundreds of
animals is now a depressing factory. Out of the smokestacks on top of the factory comes a thick black
smoke, making the once clear, blue skies dark and dreary. Many animals that once roamed the Earth
are now extinct, and generations yet to come will never know a world where they are alive. The
actions of humans are gradually killing the Earth and if humans continue to harm the Earth, it could
become a wasteland. The actions of humans have caused numerous negative effects on Earth,
including climate change, environmental degradation, and deforestation. One negative effect humans
have had on Earth is climate change. Over the years, Earth s temperature has been gradually
increasing, and if it continues to rise the outcome could be fatal for every living organism on Earth.
Humans, animals, and plants are all at risk. There are many factors that cause climate change one of
which is the greenhouse effect. The greenhouse effect is the processes in which radiation from Earth s
atmosphere warms it s surface to a higher temperature than it would be without the atmosphere.
Humans have strengthened the greenhouse effect by the combustion of fossil fuels. This is because the
combustion of fuels causes an excess of carbon dioxide to linger into the atmosphere. If the
temperature rises too much habitats may become destroyed and unsafe for life, resulting in species of
animals becoming

Analysis Of Alexander Pope s Frankenstein
Throughout history, humans have been fascinated the inherent bond that exists between ourselves and
Nature. During the eighteenth century, known also as the Reformation period, there was a push in
European society towards science and reason being the epicenter of culture. During this time,
Alexander Pope wrote the poem Essay on Man which was intended to be an outline of perennial,
universal truths. The emphasis was primarily on the nature of reason rather than Nature itself. After
this time period came the Romantic period, lasting from 1785 1832. It was in 1818 that Mary Shelley
wrote Frankenstein , also known as The Modern Prometheus , an imaginative tale about a monster
created by man. The relationships between Nature and the characters are dynamic in that they change
frequently. They appear, in many instances, to be a vehicle for expressing emotion. By examining and
writing about the way humans interact with the Nature surrounding them, Pope and Shelley made it
possible to analyze and highlight common relationships between humans and Nature during their
lifetime; for Pope and his peers, it was more about reason and ___ (word for only coming to
conclusions based on ur five senses), while during Shelley s time period, people tended to have a more
emotional relationship with Nature.
Shelley utilized imagery, metaphor, simile, and personification relative to Nature, frequently paired
with tone, in many scenes throughout Frankenstein. Whether it be to uplift or depress

The law essentially provided for the registration of trade unions, outlining certain requirements about
their rules, trusteeship, accounts, amalgamation, dissolution and the filing of annual financial
statements to a Registrar. The law however, unlike its counterpart British law at the time, did not give
the right to peaceful picketing or the common law disability of action in tort whereby trade unions
could be sued for damages in consequence of strike action was not removed by the Trade Union Law
in Jamaica. Conventional wisdom even at that time is that this omission was not accidental, and the
expressions by the then Governor of Jamaica on that occasion were the Jamaican workers were not
ready for trade unionism, acted as confirmation. (Henry 1982).
Provisions of the Act
The Act provides for the registration of trade unions and identifies enactments which shall not apply to
trade unions. It provides for ownership of land by registered trade unions.
It provides for the appointment of trustees and their empowerment to bring and defend actions and

The Scrutiny of Virtue
The Scrutiny of Virtue
Virtue is a mean condition which falls between the extremes of excess and deficiency which are both
subject to vices. Either of those two vices, or the practices of base behaviors, happen to rely on the
virtue that one aims for. For instance, courage is a virtue of which cowardice and rashness are the
deficiency and excess of respectively. Evidence of this is seen in Book II, Chapter 9 of Nichomachean
Ethics where Aristotle mentions ...virtue of character is a mean condition, and in what way, namely
because it is a mean between two kinds of vice, the one resulting from excess and the other from
deficiency... It is important to understand that virtue is not acquired naturally but rather through being
at work. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I began by putting in more of my financial resources by buying necessities such as food and water for
my family on more frequent occasions than I had before as well as the will to spend more money on
my friends as opposed to the past were I would hold back from doing as a generous person would.
Moreover, it had dawned on me from reflecting on Aristotle s Nichomachean Ethics that I would have
to overshoot the mean (as mentioned above), taking into consideration that I fall under the deficiency
of generosity as frugal, by practicing wastefulness. To put this into practice I started spending money I
don t really have by using my credit cards to spend money by buying gifts for family members as well
as spending money to go out with friends more often than I have been in the near past. Thus this
temporary practicing of wastefulness has led me to believe that I am as close as I never have been to
becoming a generous person in the way Aristotle would describe.
In Plato s Meno, Socrates and Meno do not obtain a definition of virtue, while Socrates thinks that
virtue is a kind of knowledge, and if virtue is knowledge, then it should be able to be both defined and
taught. But most virtuous persons (virtue being some sort of excellence or another) don t seem to be
able to teach virtue to their own children (as told to Meno by Socrates). As a consequence of this, it is
problematic for both Plato and Socrates to

An Opinion On Western Strategy Essay
Every journalist, public intellectual and mouthbreathing tv personality has an opinion on what western
strategy should be in Syria in light of the Russian involvement. It makes for a chaos in perpetual
regeneration. However, the vacuum we ve created in Syria by our inaction and the lack of leadership
from president Obama and Mr Cameron having now been filled by the vile dictator Putin might make
western strategy more simple. That is if we operate under the assumption we take advantage of the
opportunity. Many Sunni Arab nations in the region have been unwilling to take action against ISIS
and in many cases have been supporting the Islamic State materially and strategically. This is because
the dominant concern for the Sunni regimes is the threat posed by the rogue axis of the Syrian Ba
athist Alawite regime of Bashar Al Assad, the Shia twelver rapture cult IRGC, and their protector
Vladimir Putin. Setting aside the many severe human rights offenses and the warped ideological
export regime in Saudi Arabia and the embarrassment that is Turkey under the AKP and the unabashed
Hitler loving islamist Erdogan, it isn t difficult to see their point. Saudi Arabia and Turkey have long
been allies to the west. Saudi Arabia is actually surprisingly eager and cooperative in diplomatic
matters despite their vile domestic barbarism and their fetish for pushing wahabbi islam on the world,
and Turkey has become a serious liability in recent years after only being a problematic

  • 2. Environmental Justice Essay The United States Environmental Protection Act (hereinafter referred to as EPA) defines environmental justice as the fair treatment and meaningful involvement of all people, regardless of race, colour, national origin or income with respect to the development, implementation and enforcement of environmental laws, regulations, and policies (Bullard 2005, 4). Throughout the world, poor people and people of colour, who have the least political power and who are the most marginalized, are selectively victimized by environmental crises (Bullard 2005, 6). Numerous environmental groups have been formed over time e.g. the Green Belt Movement to combat this injustice. On the other hand, environmentalism is more concerned with protecting the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, the EPA was never designed to address environmental policies that result in unfair, unjust and inequitable outcomes. Officials of the EPA are not likely to ask questions that go to the heart of environmental justice such as what groups are most affected by a specific environmental problem or why are they affected or how could the problem have been prevented ? (Bullard 2005, 29). The environmental justice framework was adopted on September 27th, 1991 following the First National People of Colour Environmental Leadership Summit (Bullard 2005, 21). This seventeen principle framework was extremely important at the time it was drawn up because it served as a catalyst for bringing environmental protection issues to the core. The framework attempts to turn the dominant environmental protection paradigm on its head by seeking to prevent environmental threats before they occur. (Bullard 2005, 5). It incorporates the aims of other social movements that seek to eliminate harmful practices in houses, health care, poverty and redlining especially for those living in an urban ghetto or barrio (Bullard 2005, 25). Bullard states that the framework attempts to uncover the underlying assumptions that may contribute to and produce unequal protection (Bullard 2005, 25). One of its major principles is that all individuals have a right to be protected from environmental degradation and some of the precedents for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Effect of Manual Hyperinflation and Suctioning in... A study was conducted to assess the effect of manual hyperinflation and suctioning in mechanically ventilated patients to prevent the risk of ventilator associated pneumonia admitted in intensive care unit of selected hospital, Belgaum, Karnataka A randomised control trial. Background and objective: Mechanically ventilated patients are increasingly at the risk of acquiring Ventilator associated pneumonia (VAP) which is the leading infectious complication, affecting from 8% to 28% of patients admitted in the intensive care units. Morbidity and mortality associated with the development of VAP is high, with mortality rates ranging from 20 to 41%.Development of VAP increases ventilator days, critical care and hospital lengths of stay. Essential airway management is one of the important interventions to prevent ventilator associated pneumonia. Manual Hyperinflation (MH) enhances clearance of airway secretions and thereby improved lung compliance, reduced inspiratory resistance, improved V/Q matching, cleared airway and re expanding the collapsed alveoli. MH could resemble a forceful cough, with which, sputum could propagate from distal to more proximal areas that is, from the smaller airways toward the larger airways, where it can be easily removed through endotracheal suctioning. Hence MH followed by suctioning is considered to be a suitable intervention to prevent VAP among intubated and mechanically ventilated patients. The objective of the study was to assess the effect ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Case Study Of Agarwood Introduction As stated by the case study, we have just begun our new jobs as the conservationist of Aquilaria malaccensis in Sarawak. So, what is conservationist? Firstly, conservationist is a person who works to protect and preserve animals, plants, and natural resources. Meanwhile, A. malaccensis is a large evergreen tree which can be found in mixed forest habitat usually 0 to 1000m above the sea level. Thus, as the conservationist of A. malaccensis, we are the people who are responsible to protect and preserve the A. malaccensis. In addition, A. malaccensis is in the family Thymelacaeaceae where it is one of 15 tree species in the genus Aquilaria. This species can be found in South and Southeast Asia which includes Malaysia, Indonesia, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The local sectors such as () have to find efforts to overcome the high demand of agarwood s product. Scientists from the sector need to do a research on the tree so that it can be cultivated in large scale yield (Mohd. Paiz, K. 2006). Thus, production of the agarwood product can be increased, and at the same time the Aquilaria trees can be conserved. Question 5 One of the important requirements for a successful germplasm collecting mission is planning. Planning is the essential to the success because detailed information about the target species should be collected such as the distribution of the Aquilaria species, genetic variation within target species, breeding system, seed storage characteristics, collecting techniques and background information on physical, biotic and human environment. A collecting programme must have its own flexibility. This is to allow missions to be undertaken or postponed at relatively short notice. The mission also should be flexible enough to make changes in the itinerary at short notice in the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Ban Tobacco Advertising Is The Right Move In 2001, the Government of India proposed a bill that would place a ban on tobacco ads to discourage the use of tobacco products among the teenagers. This decision gave rise to a huge debate about the ethical responsibility of the government on the use of tobacco products. In this analytical essay, the arguments of the proponents that are both in favor and opposed to the ban will be summarized, while discussing the conflict of interest that exists among the government and the tobacco companies. Lastly, final thoughts and opinions will be provided of why the Government of India s decision to ban tobacco advertising was the right move. This will be done in light of the case study found at icmrindia.org titled Ban on tobacco Ads by the Government of India . Those in favor Those in favor put forth the argument that smoking kills millions of people every year and that these figures are on the rise. Furthermore, that animated figures such as that of Joe Camel cigarettes is enticing young children to take up smoking is a huge concern. They also point out the examples of other nations which have deemed it constitutional to place such bans on tobacco advertising. They claim that studies have shown that in these countries the consumption of tobacco products among the younger crowd has dropped. It is also claimed that the ban itself won t hurt the economy because in reality the revenue the government receives from the tobacco industry does not offset the costs it creates. ... • 6. The Messages Of Langston Hughes s Poetry Poetry is a way for people to express themselves. Written in stanzas, there is much more art to it than simply putting words down on paper so they sound nice. Poets keep in mind the syllable count, the rhyme scheme, the order of unstressed and stressed syllables, and many more techniques, depending on the type of poem. Also, every poem has a unique, powerful message. Langston Hughes was a recent American poet who wrote countless quality works, many of which have an enduring impact. On February 1, 1902, one of the greatest poets of the twentieth century, James Mercer Langston Hughes, was born in Joplin, Missouri. He writes about how black people were constantly controlled by the superior white race. However, he eventually became independent and slightly vengeful. This is demonstrated in the hyperbole, Besides, they ll see how beautiful I am and be ashamed (Hughes). • 7. Historical And Current Usage, And Control Mechanisms The article in which I will review in this week s assignment was compiled by a number of authors. The authors of the article are Zhenyu Li, Quan Dong, Thomas P. Albright, and Qinfeng Guo. The article was published in 2011 inside the Biological Invasions periodical and is known as Natural and human dimensions of a quasi wild species: the case of kudzu . It is located in volume 13 pages 2167 2179. I retrieved this article from the Atlanta University Center Robert W. Woodruff Library database. Furthermore, this review of this article will begin with a brief summary. The summary will include the introduction of Kudzu, historical and current usage, and control mechanisms. Following, there will be a personal critic of the article which will include, why it was chosen, personal impression, and its significance. In conclusion, there will be a brief discussion on the relationship between the article and course. Kudzu, also known as pueraria montana, was first introduced into the United States from Japan in 1876, it was planted widely throughout the states as an ornamental, for erosion control, a source of starch, cloth, paper products, and as a fodder for livestock in the first half of the 1900s (Li, Dong, Albright, Guo, 2011). As time progressed, the once desired plant evolved to a noxious weed by the 1950s. The invasive nature that Kudzu displays beyond the United States has earned a place in the listing of one of the 100 world s worst alien species (Li, Dong, Albright, Guo, ... The Guggenheim, 1943 59, was built solely for Solomon R, Guggenheim to exhibit his collection of both modern and contemporary art from around the world. This building in New York was said to be one of the architect s most important public projects , the architect being Frank Lloyd Wright. The building that will be put into contrast with the Guggenheim is the Neue Nationalgalerie in Berlin, 1962 68. Mies Van der Rohe was asked to design this new gallery during the modernism period in an act to revive the city of Berlin after the war as part of Kultureforum , a development of new cultural institutions . The Guggenheim museum in New York is unlike any other art gallery/ museum in the world. Its round, top heavy shape is something like no other and Wright prided himself on this artistic integrity1. This shows us a more soft, sensitive side of Craggs. Craggs doesn t have a stable home lifestyle from indirect characterisation which represents the way he acts out, in order to gain his parents attention, instead of always fighting with each other. On page 157 Craggs say to Joel in the letter I had to lie on my release conditions and say I d be living with the old s (as if that would ever help me), this signifies how Craggs thinks his parents don t care about him. Another struggle Craggs face is the fear of not being loved. Craggs doesn t have any affection from anyone besides his sister and Joel. He fears that he want ever be loved. Also examined are the individual experiences that Kotick must endure as he becomes a leader and an adult. Though others do not agree with his actions, and it takes him many years to reach his goal, he perseveres and succeeds in his dream, and becomes a model leader in the process. The themes of bravery, leadership, individualism, and growth are used to depict the many ways that Kotick evolves in the story. Each of his experiences acted as a catalyst to his growth process, making him stronger, and wiser than he possibly would have been otherwise. He went to many different areas of the world to discover whether the island he imagined existed, and did not give up, because an effective leader would not do that. Along the way, an old seal told Kotick of a legend which said that one day a white seal would take all the others to a quiet place. To this Kotick responded, I am the only white seal that has ever been born on the beaches (110). This knowledge revitalized his courage, and made him even more determined in his efforts. The next year, Kotick, who was finally an adult, decided to search one final time. Very close to giving up, he finally found what he was looking for. His hard work and determination paid off with a great reward. Exactly as he hoped it would be, the island was the perfect place for seals. He returned to the other seals with his great vigor, but to his dismay not one of them believed him. This did not sadden, but instead angered the now grown seal. Heavy duty lean burn gas engines admit as much as 75% more air than theoretically needed for complete combustion into the combustion chambers. The extremely weak air fuel mixtures lead to lower combustion temperatures and therefore lower NOx formation. While lean burn gas engines offer higher theoretical thermal efficiencies, transient response and performance may be compromised in certain situations. Lean burn gas engines are almost always turbocharged, resulting high power and torque figures not achieveable with stoichiometric engines due to high combustion temperatures. Heavy duty gas engines may employ precombustion chambers in the cylinder head. A lean gas and air mixture is first highly compressed in the main chamber by the piston. A much richer, though much lesser volume gas/air mixture is introduced to the precombustion chamber and ignited by spark plug. The flame front spreads to the lean gas air mixture in the cylinder. This two stage lean burn combustion produces low NOx and no particulate emissions. Thermal efficiency is better as higher compression ratios are achieved. He believed that with this type of education, the black man could provide necessary services not only for himself, but also for those in his community as well. • 22. Cyber Deterrence And Its Impact On Western Europe What is Cyber Deterrence? Merriam Webster defines deterrence as the act of making someone decide not to do something or the act of preventing a particular act or behavior from happening (Merriam Webster, 2015) . This can be applied to the cyber realm in the sense that we need to deter terrorists, state actors and non state actors from attempting attacks on U.S. networks. To understand how to apply cyber deterrence we have to look at past policies or theories on deterrence. Deterrence theory first appeared as part of the West s containment strategy in Europe, which aspired to keep the Soviet Union confined to Eastern Europe and to prevent it from gaining control of Western Europe (Kugler, 2014). If the Soviets decided to invade Western Europe with the intentions to drive to the English Channel, the United States could launch a nuclear attack not only on Soviet troops but on the Soviet homeland as well. The strategy was aimed at deterring conventional attack on Western Europe by convincing the Soviet government that an invasion would not succeed and that the Soviet Union faced unacceptable risks: if it made such an attack, it would suffer losses that far exceeded any benefits that it might hope to gain (Kugler, 2014). Around the 1960s the deterrence strategy began to change. The Soviet Union began to develop nuclear tipped ICBMs (Intercontinental Ballistic Missile) that could reach U.S. soil in a timely manner. Some of the ways that I would evaluate the individual RFPs would be to analyze the product by conducting a due diligence plan (Plan, 2011). The components involved in this process consist of looking at demonstrations, conducting site visits, and doing check references (Oachs Watters, 2016) (Plan, 2011). By looking at demonstrations, (whether they d be vendor fairs or individual presentations) it gives the potential users the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the system and thus makes the users feel part of the whole process (Plan, 2011). Additionally, demonstrations allow for easy side to side system comparison which also eases the evaluation process. By doing so, it can help the vendor have a clearer understanding of what the facility s specific requirements are (Amatayakul, 2013). Furthermore, conducting site visits, allows the project team to get real feedback about how the staff feels with new system and allows the potential buyer to see the system in action (Oachs Watters, 2016). Furthermore, I would use reference checks to check the credibility of the vendor (StratisHealth, Analysis, RFP, 2009). In addition, throughout history art has been questioned why did the artist make this? What are they trying to convey? What is the purpose, the symbol, the reason? Every artist has a motive for creating, and it may be as honorable as challenging a social injustice, or as mundane as a commission. The three most universal motives for making art are for beauty, for money on commission, and to convey a message about the artist s thoughts or emotions on a subject. Each of these motives can be influential, however conveying a concept through art is the most powerful, as it has the ability to change the way society operates. It is often said that art is meant to be beautiful for the audience. Artists follow this idea by making and being inspired by beautiful objects such as nature or other people. This is due to the fact that it is a way for people to express themselves when they are unhappy in a less direct and creative manner that allows them to experience a sort of release of negative emotions. The creative process of art itself is unlimited and vast. Its ideology is solely based on self expression, which is free and unrestricting. Moreover, artistic communities tend to be less judgmental on whether the art itself is right or wrong (Zahovaeva, 2014). Many people wonder not only why and how it has gotten to be so high, but also why it isn t distributed amongst other major contributors inside the company, or even amongst the lower ranks of the workforce via an increase in wage rates. One of the more recent theories that provides an explanation to the increase in the pay of chief executive officers is the size of firms relative to earlier years in business development. The work of the transpersonal draws largely from mainstream psychological concepts and theory in order to ground its practice in science. When Jean Valjean was let out of the galleys, he resorted to his old ways, until he met the bishop who trusted and had hope in him. This little act helped Jean become a great man, but what made him a greater man was Cosette. She provided him with something he had never had before, love. • 38. Defining Underachievement Under achievement is a threatening position to educators and can be a disruptive force throughout education systems. The idea of under achievement suggests that the systems is at fault because students do not reach their potential under the guidance of that system. The purpose of this essay is to analyze the idea or terminology of under achievement in the context of my specific teaching scenario. I will present my argument by first, introducing literature that has been specifically enlightening towards the subject. This essay will then highlight my personal experiences with this phenomenon in my own class room and how certain experiences have helped me define what under achievement actually is and can help me recognize its features in the future. Lastly, this essay will offer some guidelines in fixing the problems that will be indentified in examining under achievement, and focus on strategies that may be useful in improving this particular area of education and learning. Defining Under Achievement Under achievement is a difficult idea to grasp in its entirety due to its reliance on forecasted expectations. It is important to realize that educators are not prophets and cannot successfully predict the academic success of students based on past performance. Although we cannot fully capture, qualitatively what under achievement really consists of, this idea is better understood in a subjective manner. • 39. The Ethical Considerations Of Children And Young People Over recent years there has been an increasing approval in Britain and elsewhere that children and young people should be involved more in decision making which may affect them. Recent years have seen an increase on the focus of children s rights which include ways of getting young people and children involved more directly in decision making that impact their lives. In research terms, this has been mirrored in a linguistic shift from talking about research on to research with and now, increasingly, to research by children and young people (Kimmel, A.J., 1988). In this essay I will critically discuss the ethical considerations which are to be taken into consideration when children and young people are involved in research as ... The participation of Children and Young People (CYP) in research is placed within the framework of an international rights based framework within which CYP were granted a right to have a say. Article 12 of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) states that all CYP who are competent of forming their own views, have a right to articulate those views freely in all subjects affecting them. According to Robert Holmes (2006), the power dynamics between adults and children present an important obstacle to the collection of high quality evidence from children. Of course, engagement with children and young people is not always at an individual level. There are a variety of issues to think about when engaging with young children. Children and young people may be shy around unfamiliar adults, even at times even afraid, so it is important to find ways of making them feel safe and secure. Explanations for adults having power over children and young people are willingly established in materialistic and paternalistic declarations of looking out for the young children s best interests, which is to protect them from harm. Most people including young children are in agreement with the involvement of adults is necessary there are however some critics who question this. Roberts, H. (2008) points out that power dynamics in children s participation are much messier than is often explicated, and that power isn t something that children ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Out of the smokestacks on top of the factory comes a thick black smoke, making the once clear, blue skies dark and dreary. Many animals that once roamed the Earth are now extinct, and generations yet to come will never know a world where they are alive. One negative effect humans have had on Earth is climate change. Over the years, Earth s temperature has been gradually increasing, and if it continues to rise the outcome could be fatal for every living organism on Earth. Humans, animals, and plants are all at risk. There are many factors that cause climate change one of which is the greenhouse effect. The greenhouse effect is the processes in which radiation from Earth s atmosphere warms it s surface to a higher temperature than it would be without the atmosphere. • 47. Analysis Of Alexander Pope s Frankenstein Throughout history, humans have been fascinated the inherent bond that exists between ourselves and Nature. During the eighteenth century, known also as the Reformation period, there was a push in European society towards science and reason being the epicenter of culture. During this time, Alexander Pope wrote the poem Essay on Man which was intended to be an outline of perennial, universal truths. The emphasis was primarily on the nature of reason rather than Nature itself. After this time period came the Romantic period, lasting from 1785 1832. It was in 1818 that Mary Shelley wrote Frankenstein , also known as The Modern Prometheus , an imaginative tale about a monster created by man. The relationships between Nature and the characters are dynamic in that they change frequently. They appear, in many instances, to be a vehicle for expressing emotion. By examining and writing about the way humans interact with the Nature surrounding them, Pope and Shelley made it possible to analyze and highlight common relationships between humans and Nature during their lifetime; for Pope and his peers, it was more about reason and ___ (word for only coming to conclusions based on ur five senses), while during Shelley s time period, people tended to have a more emotional relationship with Nature. Shelley utilized imagery, metaphor, simile, and personification relative to Nature, frequently paired with tone, in many scenes throughout Frankenstein. Whether it be to uplift or depress ... Either of those two vices, or the practices of base behaviors, happen to rely on the virtue that one aims for. For instance, courage is a virtue of which cowardice and rashness are the deficiency and excess of respectively. Evidence of this is seen in Book II, Chapter 9 of Nichomachean Ethics where Aristotle mentions ...virtue of character is a mean condition, and in what way, namely because it is a mean between two kinds of vice, the one resulting from excess and the other from deficiency... Moreover, it had dawned on me from reflecting on Aristotle s Nichomachean Ethics that I would have to overshoot the mean (as mentioned above), taking into consideration that I fall under the deficiency of generosity as frugal, by practicing wastefulness. To put this into practice I started spending money I don t really have by using my credit cards to spend money by buying gifts for family members as well as spending money to go out with friends more often than I have been in the near past. Thus this temporary practicing of wastefulness has led me to believe that I am as close as I never have been to becoming a generous person in the way Aristotle would describe.
