Creon s Foil in Sophocles Plays Contrary to the traditional definition of a foil, Creon is a foil to
himself in Oedipus the King and Antigone, demonstrating the corrupting influence of power. Showing
one man s life perfect, serving his King till blasphemy reasoning and being blood thirsty for power
overtakes his actions until it is to late. In the two plays written by Sophocles (Oedipus the King and
Antigone),Creon displays hypocritical mannerisms in Antigone, the sequel of Oedipus Rex. In the

1) During My Introduction Speech, I Was Able To Find Out
1) During my introduction speech, I was able to find out both my strengths and shortcomings, in
regards to public speaking. My strengths during the intro speech were in keeping eye contact and a
natural ability to hold the attention of the audience. My shortcomings, however, were much more
pervasive, ranging from bad timing to using filler words. Most noticeably, was my lack of timing,
since the speech I gave lasted roughly 8 and a half minutes. The other noticeable crutch in my speech,
was the use of a filler phrase, that I repeated over and over again, which was I found it interesting. I
kept using this phrase as a crutch because I was afraid that my speech would run short of the 5 minute
requirement. As a result, I went over on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I felt that removing filler words or phrases would be the hardest of goals to accomplish this semester
because even seasoned and practiced public speakers have a hard time completely removing filler
words and phrases from their speeches. Taking this into consideration, I would like to at the very least,
minimize, the use of filler words and phrases when delivering a public speech. 3) The habits that I
witnessed in other speakers, that were not a problem for me were; lack of eye contact, bad body
language, nervousness and running short on time. The two biggest problems that I noticed from my
classmates speeches, were that the majority of them ran short on their speeches and most of them also
did not keep great eye contact while they were delivering their speeches. These two issues which most
of my classmates faced, apparently was not an issue for me because I went quite a bit over on time and
the according to the positive feedback which Professor Jaffe, gave me after completing my speech,
was that I did a good job engaging the room, by purposely making eye contact with people. I, also, did
not have bad body language like some of my classmates, who showed their hands in their pockets,
played with their beards or hair or stared at the ground or towards the back of the room. As for
nervousness, it would be impossible for me to say that I wasn t somewhat nervous about giving a
speech in front

The History of Earth through the Process of Evolution
Evolution is the process by which the majority of different kinds of living organisms are presumed to
have developed and differentiated from earlier forms during the history of the earth. It is described as
a variation of an organism to allow it to adapt to a new surrounding. The change is often very
significant that a new species is formed (Scott,2014). As scientists engrossed in the theory of
evolution, speculations about animals started to get involved. Camels are seemingly obvious examples
that evolution occurred. Features that have captivated scientist to examine the camel include their long
eyelashes, ability to close their nostrils, long strong legs, thick fur under wool, thick leather like
patches just below the knees and the fat stored in their humps (Jason C. Chavis. 2010).
Two very recognised theorists are Jean Baptiste Lamarck and his theory of inheritance of acquired
characteristics and Charles Darwin and his theory of natural selection. Both naturalists concluded
seperate theories of evolution. Lamarck believed that if an organism develops a particular trait
throughout their lifetime to accommodate to its habitat, it will be passed on to their offspring (O
Neil,2004). For example, Jean Baptiste Lamarck believed that all giraffes used to support small necks.
As the trees grew taller, the leaves of the tree would no longer be in reach of the giraffe, causing the
giraffe to strain their necks in order to consume their food, resulting in the lengthening of

Personal Statement On Social Work
Empowerment is something that is a top priority when working with people. While many love helping
people, empowering them at the same time is my ultimate goal. Throughout this essay, I hope to show
how vital it is for me to obtain a Masters in Social Work. I will be doing this by presenting my
experience and relationships that have influenced my selection of the social work career, my
understanding of the responsibilities of the profession, my role and responsibilities that I assume in the
profession, my reasons for selecting the program and thoughts, and thoughts on how the mission
statement addresses my career goals.

The most recent experience that I have achieved is the internship at the Superior Court. At this
internship I am constantly helping individuals. There are many positions I do at this internship
including, working at the information desk, escorting customers around the court house, helping one
find the correct document at the Law Library, helping individuals file for an order of protection, or
simply talking with customers about their options. Individuals who come into the courthouse at the
Law Library are self represented litigants. These people do not have the funds for a lawyer to help
them and are doing everything on their own. Many times they are overwhelmed, upset, angry, and
confused about what to do. The purpose of interns being at the court is to help them through their
issues. One example of this is to simply find the right court file to fill out for a divorce or child
custody modification. I love being able to help these individuals because many times I am making
their day by helping them find the right form. It sounds simple, but to them it is enormous help.
Additionally, the protective order center serves women who are experiencing domestic violence.
Within this part of the court house, I have learned to be patient and use empathy to help them through
the forms. Many times they are disheveled and cannot fill out forms. When I started my degree, I

Reenactment In Macbeth
The scenes selected in this reenactment include Act 1 Scene 3, Act 2, Scene 2 and Act 5, Scene 8.
These acts were chosen to be reenacted because they include some of the most important points in the
plot in the entire play. Throughout Act 1, Scene 3, Macbeth meets the three witches and learns of his
destiny to become king of Scotland. This is an important scene to include because the rest of the play
revolves around Macbeth s actions in order to fulfill his destiny. This scene essentially sets up the rest
of the play. To add, Act 2, Scene 2 was chosen because it contains the murder of Duncan in order for
Macbeth to become king and reign over Scotland. This is a crucial scene to include as many of
Macbeth s actions in this scene cause implications later on in the play, when people finally begin to
discover Duncan s true murderer. Moreover, this scene demonstrates a major theme in the play,
excessive ambition or hubris. Alike many other tragic heroes, Macbeth s tragic flaw is hubris relating
to his strong desire to become king. Macbeth s longing to become king compels him to murder the
current ruler of Scotland, Duncan, creating further ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As a director, I believe that these elements were successfully displayed throughout the reenactment.
This is due to the overall impact that the video has. As it is easily comprehensible, smooth and
contains animations that tie in well with the theme of ambition causing pain, this video is successful.
The decisions made throughout the making of this reenactment were made to enhance the overall
impact of the video. The facial expressions were added to convey the emotions throughout the play
and the narrations were edited based on the quality of the animations. Ultimately, this reenactment is
successful in demonstrating a theme, portraying a major character and in its

Questions On Cooperative Learning Strategies
. During 6th grade math class, the teacher uses a variety of teaching strategies. The whole class
instruction is used to teach new concepts. At this time students look up at the board, listen to the
teacher, take notes and participate in whole class discussions. When cooperative learning strategies are
used, each student has a role, such as writing, solving problems or explaining to another student the
steps of solving the problems. Quiz Quiz Trade is another strategy that engages students. While the
music is playing, all the students walk around the room and trade math cards with other students.
When the teacher stops the music and says Hand up, pair up , students stop walking and find a partner.

The title of one worksheet was Conserving Energy . The students were curious about the picture they
will create when plotting the points and they started working immediately. At the end they discovered

activity is used in math class, students know the purpose of these activities. During Scavenger Hunt
students start solving a problem on one of the several mini poster which are posted all over the room.
The answer to that problem is the number of the next problem to be solved. The students are engaged
in this activity and through this this process solve all the problems assigned for that class period.
While I observed one English class, the teacher even engaged the students while taking attendance.
When she called each student s name, they replied with oldest , middle , youngest , or only child in the
family. When learning the vocabulary words, students had to illustrate and write a caption for each
word. In order to engage students for this activity, instead of just telling or writing the topic, the
teacher said, Who lives in a pineapple under a tree and the students replied, Sponge Bob Square Pants.
Because there are a few students who do not like to write, but love Sponge Bob, they were excited
about writing that day. Those students who did not care about Sponge Bob, were allowed to write
using insects or something else for their topic. In History

The Simplest Form, By Francois Truffaut
In the simplest form, an auteur is the author of a film in which who writes and directs their own films

abstract approach to film making where as the director is seen as the central artistic force in a motions
picture. The word auteur was introduced in France during the late 1940 s founded by François Truffaut

One very famous director which has earned the right to be titled an Auteur is Quentin Tarantino.
Tarantino writes, directs and sometimes even acts in his own films and specialises in action as well as
adventure. A majority of his films are all from the top of his head and they usually consist a lot of
blood, gore and violence. He intends to use the same characters in more than one film, for example he
uses Uma Thurman as his leading lady in more than one movie and another example would be Samuel
L. Jackson who he casted in Pulp Fiction (1994) and Django Unchained (2012). Another technique
from Tarantino would be the colour, font and pictures within his film posters. Most of his action film
posters use a lot of red in the title with big bold font to make the typo stand out, he also uses a lot of
red in the foreground or the background of his posters to symbolise the amount of bloodshed in
The film lastly would be the props that he uses, usually a weapon and normally a gun or sword.
Tarantino always uses the same fundamental themes and techniques in order to print his signature on
his work. Most of his films narratives consist of the theme of racism and the rational and continues use
of the N word, the overuse of foul language and the cinematography of his mise en scene including the
position of the camera, his tracking techniques and his long takes.

Classical Music Influences Our Body s Vital Movements
Music of any genre or style that originates from a sincere and pure motivation, empowered not by the
energies of one s self, but rather by something greater, exists beyond time, culture, or history. Classical
music includes many principles that define the true meaning of the value of the classical sounds of
music. Detail of the compositional structure and other technical aspects contribute to the most
seemingly insignificant nuances. The structural integrity and balancing utilizing of tones create a
linear timeline of the composition. Classical music affects us not only on an emotional level but on a
neural level as well. Listening to classical music enhances the activity of genes involved in the release

because as children grow, their social, cognitive, and physical skills can be enhanced by their

study being researched, therefore they do not have the capacity to control or manipulate the study.
The study showed the effect of classical music on young children. Young children who listen to music
regularly demonstrate better development than those who do not. The study focused on the
development of kindergarten children; twenty one children were exposed to classical music in their
classroom setting, while the other twenty one children were not exposed to music at all throughout
their time in the classroom (Mattar et al., 2013). These young children range from five to six years in
age. Young children who listen to music regularly demonstrate better

TERM III Assignment 2 PR No: 150101619192
Date: 15 Aug 2016 Submitted by: F. B. Vimal Anand Franklin
Q1. Explain service blue printing and how it helps in service design.
Service Blueprinting is a method within the Service Engineering process that enables the user to have
a framework for viewing service improvement. It is a visual tool that helps one see the experience a
customer has with the service from a holistic viewpoint. It gives not just the end to end view of the
experience, but also exposes the behind the scenes work that shows how the experience is designed
and more importantly how it was delivered.
The process of building a service blue print involves the below steps:
1. The identification of the service process, that is supposed to be blueprinted
2. The identification of the customer segment / customers who are supposed to experience the service
3. Picturing the service from the customer s perspective
4. Picturing the actions of the contact employee (onstage and backstage), and/or technology actions
5. Linking the contact activities to the needed support functions
6. Adding the evidence of service for every customer action step Blueprinting a service helps to
display the real moments of the service provision and provides a better understanding of the process
and service success factors. The drill down approach starting from the customer action to kick off the
service delivery process, front

Introduction
Lactococcus lactis is a Gram positive bacterium commonly used to produce buttermilk and cheese. In
most cases they are known to produce Lactic acid. Traditionally regarded as a GRAS microbe, and
with its ability to produce lactic acid, it is one of the most important organisms used in the dairy
industry, used extensively in the early stages of production of several kinds of cheeses(Siezen,
Bayjanov et al. 2010). A good understanding of the genetic and enzymatic information of the cycles
that drive the production of lactic acid in these microbes is essential for the dairy industry.
The purpose of this report is to discuss about Fructose 1,6 Bisphosphate Aldolase Class II in L. lactis.
However, studies on several other bacteria like E. coli, Streptococcus sp. and other Lactococcus sp.
will also be used as reference containing similar versions of this enzyme taking part in their cycles.

Gallstone Case Study
The prevalence of gallstones varies with the geographical region. In the western world, the rates range
from approximately 8% in men to 16% in women.3 The typical course of cholelithiasis often begins as
asymptomatic gallstones found incidentally on imaging studies. However, 2% of asymptomatic
patients become symptomatic per year.8 Biliary colic is the most common symptom to manifest and
approximately 20 40% of patients have recurring pain.8 Asymptomatic patients who have calcified
gallbladders or large stones 2cm have a greater risk for gallbladder carcinoma and as a result these
patients are recommended to have prophylactic cholecystectomy.8 Medical treatment is only advised

The initial plan started with ordering a CBC, CMP, amylase and lipase STAT. These are all standard
labs that help to rule out gallbladder pathology as well as our other differential diagnoses. Her vital
signs were stable and the physical exam revealed only moderate TTP of the RUQ and epigastric
region. The lab results revealed no leukocytosis, no elevation of liver enzymes, bilirubin, amylase,
lipase, alk phos or any other signs of cholecystitis, cholangitis, pancreatitis or other potential signs of
infection. The plan of care began with keeping the patient NPO. This is recommended as this keeps
the patient from further pain secondary to food stimulating gallbladder contraction.5 It also allows the
patient to be prepared for surgery if urgent cholecystectomy is required. The next step was beginning
IV normal saline to keep her well hydrated. After this we began to give her medication through the IV
including Zofran for her nausea. Zofran is an effective anti emetic and there were no contraindications
for use in this patient. We also gave her Morphine 2 mg IV for pain control. Opioids are an effective
option for a patient with significant biliary colic.6 Although NSAIDS are another option for pain
control, PUD was part of the differential diagnosis so NSAIDS were not an appropriate therapy. We
ordered an abdominal ultrasound as this is the diagnostic test of choice for cholelithiasis. The
ultrasound revealed multiple gallstones in the gallbladder, some mild gallbladder thickening, and some
dilatation of the common bile duct. At this point we consulted GI who scheduled the patient for MRCP
in the morning in order rule out choledocholithiaisis. We also consulted the surgery team who
admitted the patient. The stated they would likely plan for laparoscopic

Electricity and Magnetism
Human civilisation has dealt with magnetism for millennia, earliest evidence dating as far back as
1000 BC where the ancient Chinese civilisation discovered a naturally occurring magnetic ore,
magnetite. This ore, commonly known as lodestone was used by the ancient Chinese as a geomagnetic
compass, however, no one really knew what magnetism was at the time. For centuries on, we have had
basic knowledge regarding electricity based upon static electricity found from rubbing amber and fur.
However, up until the early 1800s, our understanding of electricity and magnetism was severely
limited considering both of them as entirely separate phenomena.

The ions are then accelerated so that they have the same kinetic energy. These accelerated ions are
then passed through a vacuum tube (remember mass to charge ratios), subjected with an
electromagnetic field. Lighter ions will be deflected more and the more positively charged they are
(less electrons / more electrons knocked off) the more they are deflected. One can alter the strength of
the field to accommodate for the mass to charge ratio range needed to be detected. Accelerated ions
which are still within the path of the tube are then captured by a detector which analyses the amount of
ions carried through the ion beam. The vacuum tube where ions were accelerated through is called a
mass analyser. The relationship between the accelerated ion beams and the electromagnetic field being
subjected is best summarised through Newton s 2nd Law and Lorentz Force Law:
F=ma
F=q(E+V ×B)
Where F = Force, m = mass of ions, a = acceleration, q = ionic charge, E = electric field and V x B =
the vector cross product of the ion velocity and the applied magnetic field. When a charged particle is
accelerated perpendicular to a magnetic field, it will curve, hence the deflection of ion beams in the
mass analyser. This deflection can be best described as a centripetal force and the force applied on the
charge can also be given by F = qv x B. Since the force is perpendicular, the magnitude of the

Tommie Smith and John Carlos, gold and bronze medalists in the 200m run stood with their heads

Tommie Smith said: If I win I am an American, not a black American. But if I did something bad then
they would say a Negro . We are black and we are proud of being black (BBC On this Day 1968:

Animals have been associated with magic for a long time. These enchanted pets were commonly used
to diagnose illnesses, to find sources of magic and to find treasures. It was not until the Middle Ages
and the rise of Christianity that these pets were considered evil. They started to be considered as
demons or evil spirits in animal form, sent out by a witch to do their evil bidding. In Harry Potter,
each of the before mentioned pets is associated in mythology in different ways: The Owl has always
been associated with death, sorcery and the dark side of life. The owls would go with witches on their
broomsticks and carry out their evil commands. Cats have always been associated with witches. A
witch was reputed to own a cat as a familiar pet and they were believed to embody demons and used
for spells.
In the wizardry world of Harry Potter, a magic wand had to be obtained to attend Hogwarts School of
Magic. A wand was a thin, handheld stick made of wood, stone or metals. It was a tool used to channel
the energy and magic of the witch. In Egyptian mythology, the magic wand is mentioned and in Greco
Roman mythology, the god Hermes had a special wand called a caduceus. In almost every childhood

The Importance Of Student Success
Scientist have research that about 90% of the people don t achieve their goals because of the
challenges encountered. Many of our students here in the city of Anaheim are faced with challenges
everyday and sometimes don t know how to deal with them. My argument is that student success is
founded upon giving full effort from students rather than by achieving good grades. In the research
story of the secret to raising smart kids by Carol Dweck is a research based paper on the achievements
of students. The mastery oriented children, on the other hand, think intelligence is malleable and can
be developed through education and hard work. They want to learn above all else. After all if you
believe it that you can expand your intellectual skills, you want to do just that, because slipups stem
from a lack of effort, not ability, they can be remedied by more effort (27).The student intellectual
intelligence can grow by studying. They believe that intelligence is malleable. It can be changed or
shaped by the hard work and what things we change. If school in Anaheim cared about their education
we would be talking about different topics. Since we would be putting so much effort to our changes
of habit to better understanding in school we would be satisfied with our results. Many of us would try
again and again if it is possible to get a better result. Putting effort can take time but at the end it is
worth it. Many of our students believe a challenge changes their intelligence view.

Aslan, the lion king epitomizes the greatness of Narnia and the creatures that it inhabits. Aslan
displays Christ like traits by having power that is unmatched and being unquestionably benevolent. He
shows forgiveness after rescuing Edmund from the White Witch. Aslan tells his brother and sisters,
Here is your brother and there is no need to talk to him about what is past (p.153).
Just as Christ separates our transgressions from as far as the east is from the west. Later, he sacrifices
his life for Edmund, just as Christ sacrificed his life for all of mankind. This sacrificial expression was
governed by the mystical laws set forth by The Emperor Beyond The Sea.
The Emperor Beyond The Sea is Aslan s father. He is the ultimate God of Narnia and has been around
since before the dawn of time. He has set forth mystical laws that govern the creatures of Narnia just
as God did in the beginning. There was the word and the word was with God.

Data Analysis Of DNA By The Standard Crystallographic Method
The structure of 2 was determined by the standard crystallographic method, using a colorless plate
crystal (0.028 × 0.034 × 0.046 mm3) of 2 for single crystal data analysis. All the data were collected
using a Bruker SMART BREEZE diffractometer equipped with a 1K CCD area detector using
graphite monochromated Mo Kα radiation at 200 K. A hemisphere of data was collected using a
narrow frame method with the scan widths of 0.30° in omega and an exposure time of 5 s/frame. The
first 50 frames were remeasured at the end of the data collection to monitor the instrument and crystal
stability. The maximum correction applied to the intensities was 2σ(I). All the calculations were

2.6 Second order nonlinear optical measurements
Powder second harmonic generating (SHG) measurements of polycrystalline material 2 were
performed using a modified Kurtz NLO system using 1064 nm radiation [33]. A DAWA Q switched
Nd:YAG laser, operating at 20 Hz, was used for the measurements. Because the SHG efficiency has
been shown to depend strongly on the particle size, polycrystalline samples were ground and sieved
(Newark Wire Cloth Co.) into distinct particle size ranges (20 45, 45 63, 63 75, 75 90, 90 125, 125
150, 150 200, 200 250, 250 μm). To make relevant comparisons with the known SHG materials,
crystalline α SiO2 and LiNbO3 were also ground and sieved into the same particle size ranges.
Powders with the particle size in the range 45 63 µm were used for comparing the SHG intensities. All
the powder samples with different particle sizes were placed in separate capillary tubes. No index
matching fluid was used in any of the experiments. The SHG light, i.e., 532 nm green light, was
collected in reflection and detected using a photomultiplier tube (Hamamatsu). To detect only the
SHG light, a 532 nm narrow pass interference filter was attached to the tube. A digital oscilloscope
(Tektronix TDS1032) was used to view the SHG signal. A detailed description of the equipment and
the methodology used has been published [34].

Discipleship Essay
Discipleship
According to the Oxford English Dictionary, a Disciple is one who takes another as his teacher and
model. Christian Disciples have faith and commitment to God, they use their own time to give service
others; they sacrifice their home life possessions and money. Christian Disciples preach to others
about the Good Doings of Jesus and the excellence of God. Christian Disciples resist other
temptations. They produce self control, orderliness, obedience and a capacity for co operation with
others. Anybody can be a disciple; for example a Portadown College student is a disciple of the
school. To be a Christian disciple however, takes a different kind of self discipline. The word ... Show

This means that like salt we should purify, preserve and flavour other people s lives. We should also
be like light in that we are visible Christianity is something that should be seen we should be a guide
like a light and also a warning. A true disciple follows the commandments presented by Jesus on
Mount Sinai. These 10 commandments are often referred to as the law and they are a basis as to how
we should live our lives.
As a disciple, you should also be forgiving. If someone sins against you, you should not only forgive
him seven times as Peter thought; but seventy times seven as Jesus tells us. This means there is no
limit as to how many times we should forgive someone. Jesus used the parable of the unforgiving
servant to demonstrate this. He tells of a king who was owed a great sum of money by one of his
servants. The king let the servant off with this though. A man owed the servant a small amount of
money and he still asked for it. The king found out about this and re instated his debt. The servant
should have shown the same forgiveness that he was shown.
Jesus used another story to indicate how we should lead our lives. He told of two house builders; one
who built his house on a rock and one on sand. Jesus explained that anyone who hears the words and
acts on them was like the wise man that built his

The Pros And Cons Of The GC Blockade
GCC Blockade Qatar recently underwent a huge diplomatic change. On June 5, 2017, Saudi Arabia,
Bahrain, UAE, and Egypt cut their political ties with Qatar and are currently surrounding the country.
Normally, people would assume that the blockade only has negative impacts on the people and the
economy of a nation, but there are many positives of the event that we should also note.
The public was in a nationwide panic when the news of the blockade first surfaced, but the
government quickly assured the people that they had a plan. For example, Ahmed bin Jassim AlThani,
Qatar s economic minister, told CNBC that the blockade was an opportunity that led to opening trade
routes with Turkey, Kuwait, Oman, and others. This was a chance to form new ties and strengthen old
ones; this positive outlook kept the Qatari people satisfied and ready for ... Show more content on

government had to pay 38.5 billion dollars in recovery from the financial attack. Not to mention, the
cut ties between Qatar s closest allies. During this blockade, all flights to and from Qatar were affected
travelling to and from a neighboring country like the UAE would usually last for around 45 minutes to
an hour. Now it would take a passenger 2 3 hours to get there because the blockade didn t only stop
land ways, but also airways. Take another example, Egyptians who want to get to their country a flight
usually takes them around 3 hours. After the Saudi and other blockade countries blocked the airways
they extinguished something called a direct flight to any other country not only Egypt, which now

Sodium Hypochlorite
Description
When our favorite white T shirt gets badly stained, we reach for our favorite laundry detergent that
contains bleach. The bleaching agent present in the detergent is a chemical called sodium
hypochlorite, which is the focus of our discussion in this lesson.
!!!What is Sodium Hypochlorite?
When our favorite articles of clothing get stained, and when we need to clean our bathrooms, we reach
for our laundry detergent household cleaners that contain bleach.
Bleach
The main constituent of household bleach is a chemical called sodium hypochlorite. __Sodium
hypochlorite__ in liquid form is greenish or yellowish in color and is commonly referred to as bleach
because it is the active ingredient in bleach. Its chemical formula is __NaClO__, composed of one
sodium (Na) atom, one chlorine (Cl) atom and one oxygen (O) atom. Its chemical structure shows that
hypochlorite ion (ClO ) has an ionic bond with sodium (Na+) ion.
Sodium Hypochlorite Chemical Structure
Sodium hypochlorite (NaClO) is produced by a process known as the __Hooker process__, which is
the method used for a large scale production of NaClO. In the Hooker process, sodium hydroxide
(NaOH) is exposed to chlorine gas (Cl2). Along with sodium hypochlorite, the reaction between these
two substances produces sodium chloride (NaCl), water (H2O):
Cl2 + 2NaOH ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We must make sure to not mix sodium hypochlorite with ammonia because it produces toxic vapors.
Inhalation of sodium hypochlorite can irritate the lungs, so if this happens seek fresh air immediately
and call for medical help if needed. While low concentrations prevent skin damage, high
concentrations on our skin can cause burns and irritation. Sodium hypochlorite is also an eye irritant.
If skin and eyes come into contact with sodium hypochlorite, flush with water immediately and seek
medical attention if this doesn t

Eugenics And The History Of Medical Ethics
It is impossible to understand the history of eugenics and its enduring legacies in California outside
the framework of Chicana/o history . Sterilization practices in Puerto Rico and California, pre and post
legal eugenics can be examined through the context of eugenics and the history of medical ethics.
Although steady or increasing rates of sterilization in some cases reflected women s demands for birth
control, the lines between voluntary and coerced were often quite blurred and a case can be made that
negative eugenics were being implemented on a societal level in both countries.1

Years and much unethical conduct in the United States later the Belmont Report established ethical
guidelines for treating patients in 1979. The main three principals are respect for persons, beneficence,
and justice. These categories include things like informed consent, weighing risk to benefit, and
fairness. It also established rules behind informed consent such as all information must be available
and comprehensible to the patient and coercion never being acceptable. This and Principles of
Biomedical Ethics by Beauchamp and Childress, which came out in the same year, marked a major
turning point in the laws regarding ethical medical practices in the United States. However, the
underlying principle of medical ethics had been around since 1780 or so when Hippocrates directed
physicians to help and do no harm .
Puerto Rican birth control regulation gained official support in 1937 when the reason for the
sterilizations moved to being about health reasons instead of economic reasons. However, poor health
is often caused by poverty so these are really one and the same. This movement was also an attempt
by the government to keep the surplus population low. Post partum sterilization was encouraged but
birth control clinics also became increasingly common. Studies were conducted that showed a demand
for permanent sterilization after which the US government openly supported Puerto Rico s efforts.

Case Study On Rhino Horn
1. Reasons why rhinos are being poached 1.1. The number of rhinos being poached has grown rapidly
in recent years and is being driven by the demand for rhino horn in Asian countries, particularly
Vietnam. The main reasons people poach rhinos are for medicinal purposes and to have as a status
symbol to display your wealth and success. In Chinese culture, a rhino horn is used to treat fever,
rheumatism and gout. They also believe that the horn can cure snakebites, hallucinations, typhoid,
headaches, carbuncles, vomiting, food poisoning and devil possession. The rhino horn is usually
shaved into a powder, dissolved in hot water and then consumed by the patient. Some western
countries believe that rhino horns are used as an aphrodisiac, but this is not true. However, people in
Vietnam believed this tale and started to use the rhino horn for new reasons. They also use the rhino

Consequently, a loss in the artisan and artistic labor markets will have a greater effect on society than
just a loss in workforce numbers. A loss in artists, musicians, craftsmen, or any largely creativity

is technology damaging the arts, but also education. (Szekely, 2016, para.11 14) Budget cuts for art
and music classes have gone through the roof. Over just the past ten years national funding for the art

Small communities called makerspaces help counter the effects of modernization. (Edu Cause, 2013,

innovation that allows members to create idea prototypes and experiment new technological
advancements. (Thompson, 2015, A World Without Work, p.56) The use of makerspaces can help
counter the negative effect of new technology against the workforce and encourages cooperation
between man and machine. It not only encourages creativity but also allows for socializing to those
who share interest in similar ideas and innovations. Makerspaces also require individual learning and
does not entitle members to rely on technology itself. While Isaac Asimov (author of I, Robot) may
believe that machines will almost certainly replace human labor in the future, members of
makerspaces believe that the job of the human race is to harness the power of machines and use it for
our own creative good without letting it take advantage of workers. Much like museums are used to

The Collapse of the Qing Dynasty Essay
Explain the key reasons for the collapse of the Qing Dynasty.
The Qing Dynasty s collapse was due to three main influences, with underlying reasons involved in
each. The first being foreign intervention related strongly to militarism, gunboat diplomacy,
imperialism and the rise of unequal treaty systems. The second influence was China s failure to reform
and uprisings, such as the boxer rebellion and lastly economic decline. These three factors ultimately
resulted in the downfall of the dynasty.
The Qing Dynasty relied heavily on the effectiveness of its fighting forces. However, due to
corruption and loss of skills the military began to crumble. Militarism, the use of army for political
advantage, became very influential for a large ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This was a major example of imperialism as these treaties favored foreign trade but China didn t gain
any concession from the foreigners. This in turn weakening the economic power of china and the
governments control over the country weakened.
Failure to reform was mainly due to weak and ineffective leadership, the conservatives, and especially
corruption of the dynasty and its officials.
Ineffective leadership and very luxurious living of the emperors and government officials also led to
the collapse of the Qing Dynasty. Officials were left in charge of the administration of the dynasty
because the two emperors of the time, Tongzhi and Guangxu were still children, and this lack of
imperial control gave Cixi the ability to rule from behind the curtain .
Corruption was also throughout many aspects of the administration of the Qing Dynasty. Many
officials increased their own personal fortunes by raising peasant s taxes and by pocketing money,
which was to be used for infrastructure, such as the river mitigation project.
Finally uprisings and economic decline plunged the Qing Dynasty into failure because of the
rebellions, peasant discontentment, which both resulted in resentment of the dynasty. Another factor
influencing the economic decline was natural disasters.
Irresponsible spending and the luxuries experienced by the emperor and

Achievement of the Goals Set Down in the Charter Oath of 1868 by 1895
Soon after the Restoration, the Meiji leaders drafted an Oath for the Emperor to take. The Charter
Oath gave a general guideline for the new government and its future policy. It was proclaimed on 6
April 1868. The Emperor declared that his country was to establish assemblies and all policies to be
based upon wide consultation, to allow people to choose their occupation without class restriction, to
abolish the uncivilized customs, to learn useful and practical knowledge and the national interest
would override all other interests. After examining the result of certain reform items, the goals set

This was consistent with the first article of the Charter Oath.
In order to create a modern state and to free labor for a modern economy, the old class divisions of
samurai, peasants, craftsmen and merchants were abolished in 1869. Individuals were free to take up
any occupation. However, the aim of this measure was to build up the state and social improvements
were only a by product. In 1876, the government went one step further and ordered the samurai to
discard their swords; the carrying of swords had been a symbol of their status for hundreds of years.
The outward distinction between samurai and commoners thus disappeared.
Judicial reforms were carried out to make past evils a crime. To achieve this, a French lawyer was
employed to head a committee to draft a criminal code for Japan. After some amendments to bring
them in line with the West, a modern legal procedure was introduced, including the ban on torture and
other evil customs.
The Charter Oath stressed that knowledge should be sought throughout the world. The emphasis on
education was thus obvious. One of the measures adopted by Japan was to send students to Europe
and the United States to gain first hand knowledge of the West and to acquire technical information.
The government also employed

In the modern day technology and information are developing, changing, and is exchanged at a rapid
pace. With so much information out there and a constantly evolving landscape of technology it is
important to know how to find, use and validate new information and technology.
Information literacy is a set of abilities that allow someone to understand when where there is a need
for information. (Information Literacy: Home. (n.d.)., 2015)This also includes the ability to discover
and asses the quality of the information that was found. In addition this information must be used in

Creon Foil in Sophocles Plays Bailey 1 Devereaux Bailey Dr. Nokes Comp 2 April 8, 2011 Creon s Foil in Sophocles Plays Contrary to the traditional definition of a foil, Creon is a foil to himself in Oedipus the King and Antigone, demonstrating the corrupting influence of power. Showing one man s life perfect, serving his King till blasphemy reasoning and being blood thirsty for power overtakes his actions until it is to late. In the two plays written by Sophocles (Oedipus the King and Antigone),Creon displays hypocritical mannerisms in Antigone, the sequel of Oedipus Rex. • 3. 1) During My Introduction Speech, I Was Able To Find Out 1) During my introduction speech, I was able to find out both my strengths and shortcomings, in regards to public speaking. My strengths during the intro speech were in keeping eye contact and a natural ability to hold the attention of the audience. My shortcomings, however, were much more pervasive, ranging from bad timing to using filler words. Most noticeably, was my lack of timing, since the speech I gave lasted roughly 8 and a half minutes. The other noticeable crutch in my speech, was the use of a filler phrase, that I repeated over and over again, which was I found it interesting. I kept using this phrase as a crutch because I was afraid that my speech would run short of the 5 minute requirement. As a result, I went over on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I felt that removing filler words or phrases would be the hardest of goals to accomplish this semester because even seasoned and practiced public speakers have a hard time completely removing filler words and phrases from their speeches. Taking this into consideration, I would like to at the very least, minimize, the use of filler words and phrases when delivering a public speech. 3) The habits that I witnessed in other speakers, that were not a problem for me were; lack of eye contact, bad body language, nervousness and running short on time. The two biggest problems that I noticed from my classmates speeches, were that the majority of them ran short on their speeches and most of them also did not keep great eye contact while they were delivering their speeches. These two issues which most of my classmates faced, apparently was not an issue for me because I went quite a bit over on time and the according to the positive feedback which Professor Jaffe, gave me after completing my speech, was that I did a good job engaging the room, by purposely making eye contact with people. I, also, did not have bad body language like some of my classmates, who showed their hands in their pockets, played with their beards or hair or stared at the ground or towards the back of the room. As for nervousness, it would be impossible for me to say that I wasn t somewhat nervous about giving a speech in front ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The History of Earth through the Process of Evolution Evolution is the process by which the majority of different kinds of living organisms are presumed to have developed and differentiated from earlier forms during the history of the earth. It is described as a variation of an organism to allow it to adapt to a new surrounding. The change is often very significant that a new species is formed (Scott,2014). As scientists engrossed in the theory of evolution, speculations about animals started to get involved. Camels are seemingly obvious examples that evolution occurred. Features that have captivated scientist to examine the camel include their long eyelashes, ability to close their nostrils, long strong legs, thick fur under wool, thick leather like patches just below the knees and the fat stored in their humps (Jason C. Chavis. 2010). Two very recognised theorists are Jean Baptiste Lamarck and his theory of inheritance of acquired characteristics and Charles Darwin and his theory of natural selection. Both naturalists concluded seperate theories of evolution. Lamarck believed that if an organism develops a particular trait throughout their lifetime to accommodate to its habitat, it will be passed on to their offspring (O Neil,2004). For example, Jean Baptiste Lamarck believed that all giraffes used to support small necks. As the trees grew taller, the leaves of the tree would no longer be in reach of the giraffe, causing the giraffe to strain their necks in order to consume their food, resulting in the lengthening of ... • 5. Personal Statement On Social Work Empowerment is something that is a top priority when working with people. While many love helping people, empowering them at the same time is my ultimate goal. Throughout this essay, I hope to show how vital it is for me to obtain a Masters in Social Work. I will be doing this by presenting my experience and relationships that have influenced my selection of the social work career, my understanding of the responsibilities of the profession, my role and responsibilities that I assume in the profession, my reasons for selecting the program and thoughts, and thoughts on how the mission statement addresses my career goals. The most recent experience that I have achieved is the internship at the Superior Court. At this internship I am constantly helping individuals. There are many positions I do at this internship including, working at the information desk, escorting customers around the court house, helping one find the correct document at the Law Library, helping individuals file for an order of protection, or simply talking with customers about their options. Individuals who come into the courthouse at the Law Library are self represented litigants. These people do not have the funds for a lawyer to help them and are doing everything on their own. Many times they are overwhelmed, upset, angry, and confused about what to do. The purpose of interns being at the court is to help them through their issues. One example of this is to simply find the right court file to fill out for a divorce or child custody modification. I love being able to help these individuals because many times I am making their day by helping them find the right form. It sounds simple, but to them it is enormous help. Additionally, the protective order center serves women who are experiencing domestic violence. Within this part of the court house, I have learned to be patient and use empathy to help them through the forms. Many times they are disheveled and cannot fill out forms. • 6. Reenactment In Macbeth The scenes selected in this reenactment include Act 1 Scene 3, Act 2, Scene 2 and Act 5, Scene 8. These acts were chosen to be reenacted because they include some of the most important points in the plot in the entire play. Throughout Act 1, Scene 3, Macbeth meets the three witches and learns of his destiny to become king of Scotland. This is an important scene to include because the rest of the play revolves around Macbeth s actions in order to fulfill his destiny. This scene essentially sets up the rest of the play. To add, Act 2, Scene 2 was chosen because it contains the murder of Duncan in order for Macbeth to become king and reign over Scotland. This is a crucial scene to include as many of Macbeth s actions in this scene cause implications later on in the play, when people finally begin to discover Duncan s true murderer. Moreover, this scene demonstrates a major theme in the play, excessive ambition or hubris. Alike many other tragic heroes, Macbeth s tragic flaw is hubris relating to his strong desire to become king. Macbeth s longing to become king compels him to murder the current ruler of Scotland, Duncan, creating further ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As a director, I believe that these elements were successfully displayed throughout the reenactment. This is due to the overall impact that the video has. As it is easily comprehensible, smooth and contains animations that tie in well with the theme of ambition causing pain, this video is successful. The decisions made throughout the making of this reenactment were made to enhance the overall impact of the video. The facial expressions were added to convey the emotions throughout the play and the narrations were edited based on the quality of the animations. Explain service blue printing and how it helps in service design. Service Blueprinting is a method within the Service Engineering process that enables the user to have a framework for viewing service improvement. It is a visual tool that helps one see the experience a customer has with the service from a holistic viewpoint. It gives not just the end to end view of the experience, but also exposes the behind the scenes work that shows how the experience is designed and more importantly how it was delivered. The process of building a service blue print involves the below steps: 1. The identification of the service process, that is supposed to be blueprinted 2. The identification of the customer segment / customers who are supposed to experience the service 3. Picturing the service from the customer s perspective 4. Picturing the actions of the contact employee (onstage and backstage), and/or technology actions 5. Linking the contact activities to the needed support functions 6. Adding the evidence of service for every customer action step Blueprinting a service helps to display the real moments of the service provision and provides a better understanding of the process and service success factors. The ions are then accelerated so that they have the same kinetic energy. These accelerated ions are then passed through a vacuum tube (remember mass to charge ratios), subjected with an electromagnetic field. Lighter ions will be deflected more and the more positively charged they are (less electrons / more electrons knocked off) the more they are deflected. One can alter the strength of the field to accommodate for the mass to charge ratio range needed to be detected. Accelerated ions which are still within the path of the tube are then captured by a detector which analyses the amount of ions carried through the ion beam. The vacuum tube where ions were accelerated through is called a mass analyser. The relationship between the accelerated ion beams and the electromagnetic field being subjected is best summarised through Newton s 2nd Law and Lorentz Force Law: F=ma F=q(E+V ×B) Where F = Force, m = mass of ions, a = acceleration, q = ionic charge, E = electric field and V x B = the vector cross product of the ion velocity and the applied magnetic field. When a charged particle is accelerated perpendicular to a magnetic field, it will curve, hence the deflection of ion beams in the mass analyser. This deflection can be best described as a centripetal force and the force applied on the charge can also be given by F = qv x B. Since the force is perpendicular, the magnitude of the ... The number of rhinos being poached has grown rapidly in recent years and is being driven by the demand for rhino horn in Asian countries, particularly Vietnam. They also believe that the horn can cure snakebites, hallucinations, typhoid, headaches, carbuncles, vomiting, food poisoning and devil possession. The rhino horn is usually shaved into a powder, dissolved in hot water and then consumed by the patient. A loss in artists, musicians, craftsmen, or any largely creativity based occupation, would lead to a major decline in new creative inventions and innovations. Not only is technology damaging the arts, but also education. (Szekely, 2016, para.11 14) Budget cuts for art and music classes have gone through the roof. Over just the past ten years national funding for the art has dropped nearly 25%. In recent national budget plans national funding for the arts has taken an even larger setback. Small communities called makerspaces help counter the effects of modernization. (Edu Cause, 2013, para. 2) A makerspace is a physical location where people gather to share resources and knowledge, work on projects, network, and build. Makerspaces help inspire technological creativity and innovation that allows members to create idea prototypes and experiment new technological advancements. (Thompson, 2015, A World Without Work, p.56) The use of makerspaces can help counter the negative effect of new technology against the workforce and encourages cooperation between man and machine. It not only encourages creativity but also allows for socializing to those who share interest in similar ideas and innovations. Makerspaces also require individual learning and does not entitle members to rely on technology itself. While Isaac Asimov (author of I, Robot) may believe that machines will almost certainly replace human labor in the future, members of makerspaces believe that the job of the human race is to harness the power of machines and use it for our own creative good without letting it take advantage of workers. Much like museums are used to preserve the culture and history of the past, makerspaces will be used to preserve the creativity and innovation of the human workforce in the ... • 31. The Collapse of the Qing Dynasty Essay Explain the key reasons for the collapse of the Qing Dynasty. The Qing Dynasty s collapse was due to three main influences, with underlying reasons involved in each. The first being foreign intervention related strongly to militarism, gunboat diplomacy, imperialism and the rise of unequal treaty systems. The second influence was China s failure to reform and uprisings, such as the boxer rebellion and lastly economic decline. These three factors ultimately resulted in the downfall of the dynasty. The Qing Dynasty relied heavily on the effectiveness of its fighting forces. However, due to corruption and loss of skills the military began to crumble. This was a major example of imperialism as these treaties favored foreign trade but China didn t gain any concession from the foreigners. This in turn weakening the economic power of china and the governments control over the country weakened. Failure to reform was mainly due to weak and ineffective leadership, the conservatives, and especially corruption of the dynasty and its officials. Ineffective leadership and very luxurious living of the emperors and government officials also led to the collapse of the Qing Dynasty. Officials were left in charge of the administration of the dynasty because the two emperors of the time, Tongzhi and Guangxu were still children, and this lack of imperial control gave Cixi the ability to rule from behind the curtain . Corruption was also throughout many aspects of the administration of the Qing Dynasty. Many officials increased their own personal fortunes by raising peasant s taxes and by pocketing money, which was to be used for infrastructure, such as the river mitigation project. Finally uprisings and economic decline plunged the Qing Dynasty into failure because of the rebellions, peasant discontentment, which both resulted in resentment of the dynasty. Another factor influencing the economic decline was natural disasters. Irresponsible spending and the luxuries experienced by the emperor and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Charter Oath gave a general guideline for the new government and its future policy. It was proclaimed on 6 April 1868. The Emperor declared that his country was to establish assemblies and all policies to be based upon wide consultation, to allow people to choose their occupation without class restriction, to abolish the uncivilized customs, to learn useful and practical knowledge and the national interest would override all other interests. This was consistent with the first article of the Charter Oath. In order to create a modern state and to free labor for a modern economy, the old class divisions of samurai, peasants, craftsmen and merchants were abolished in 1869. Individuals were free to take up any occupation. However, the aim of this measure was to build up the state and social improvements were only a by product. In 1876, the government went one step further and ordered the samurai to discard their swords; the carrying of swords had been a symbol of their status for hundreds of years. The outward distinction between samurai and commoners thus disappeared. Judicial reforms were carried out to make past evils a crime. To achieve this, a French lawyer was employed to head a committee to draft a criminal code for Japan. After some amendments to bring them in line with the West, a modern legal procedure was introduced, including the ban on torture and other evil customs. The Charter Oath stressed that knowledge should be sought throughout the world. The emphasis on education was thus obvious. One of the measures adopted by Japan was to send students to Europe and the United States to gain first hand knowledge of the West and to acquire technical information.
